The Press Secretary Part 12

Summary: Chris the mayor of town is married to his wife Becca. When he hires a new press secretary who happens to be his lost love old feelings resurface and Chris finds it hard to resist the desire he once had for her

Chris sighs as he walks down the street his jaw clenched Ugh I’m so sick of her I regret the day I even married her His phone rings in his pocket and he pulls it out and frowns at the caller id Great just what I need “Hello?”

“Chris! Becca just told me everything! How dare you sleep with another girl?!”

“Mr. Davenport…”

“Come over to the house and you better have a good explanation for this!” The call clicks off

Chris sighs Ugh he’s even worse than Becca Chris calls for an Uber and heads over to the house

Emily sat in her living room she sighs I feel bad I shouldn’t have done that while he was still with her and his wife is powerful I probably messed up his entire mayor election She sighs Maybe I should end things with him to avoid a scandal but I can’t do that to him I love Chris I want to be with him I don’t know what to do

Chris walks to the house and knocks on the door the door slowly opens and the scowling face of Becca’s father appears “Come inside and we’re gonna discuss this”

Chris sighs and heads in he walks into the living room and turns to face him

He pours himself some scotch “Now what did you do to my daughter?”

Chris sighs “I’m sure she told you already”

“I want to hear it from you”

“I’ve been sleeping with my press secretary for a couple of months now”

He takes a sip “Why?”

“I’ve had feelings for her since college I know I shouldn’t have done it while I was with Becca”

“You’re damn right you shouldn’t have!” He walks up to him “She told me about you wanting to divorce her”

“Sir I’ve had that way before I was sleeping with her me and Becca can’t be compatible we fight all the time”

“You can’t divorce now everything we’ve built up together to get you to where you are today”

Chris rolls his eyes “Yeah I know you and Becca have been holding that over my head for so many years”

“Because it’s true you need the two of us to make you mayor again if you listen to us”

“I’m sick of this! I don’t need either of you!”

“Chris we made you and you think you can get far without my connections and all the help we’ve given us you’re nothing without us!”

“I rather be nothing than be your pawn I want nothing to do with the two of you!” Chris walks to the door

“You walk out that door and I’ll expose you you’re not gonna win the election you’ll be on the streets or working at a convenience store!”

“That’s just fine with me!” Chris slams the door “Jerk” He runs his hands through his hair “I don’t care anymore even if I don’t win I can still be with Emily that’s all that matters to me”

Emily sighs as she looks at her phone Nothing yet please let Chris be alright There’s a knock on her door and Emily goes to answer it she smiles “Chris”

“Hi”

She steps aside to let him in “What happened? I’ve been worried about you”

“Well Becca ruined my stuff and both her and her dad threatened to ruin my campaign”

“Oh Chris I’m sorry I didn’t mean to”

Chris smiles “Hey look at me it’s worth it long as I have you it’s worth it nothing is your fault don’t feel bad let them do their worse”

“You sure Chris?

“Positive I love you Emily”

Emily smiles “I love you too Chris”

He kisses her deeply then pulls away “Now I know I have to leave the house do you mind if I stay here for a while I need to find an apartment”

Emily smiles “Of course and I’ll help you out”

“Thanks Em you’re the best”

Chris’s phone buzzes in his pocket he frowns as he looks at it “Great”

“What happened?”

Chris hands her the phone “They’ve already started”

Emily looks at the article headline

Mayor Chris Powell is an unfaithful husband How will this affect his reelection?

I was working on a new fic I had some inspiration for and I accidentally deleted it 😵

The worst part is I don't know how but I do know my phone's been bugging me to clean out stuff and it's possible I was taking care of my kid at the same time and maybe I was distracted, who knows? But I'm on maternity leave and whenever I have some time, I might post a new freshman series story because it's still my comfort book.

I don’t know the odds of you guys even knowing what I’m talking about here (especially younger fans), but I kind of wish Chloe redemption’s/the development of Chlonette (friendship or more) was similar to The Freshman series (by PB Choices) when it came to MC and Becca’s relationship. I really enjoyed Becca’s redemption and her relationship with MC. The best part, they didn’t treat the side mean girl like crap and threw her to the side just to do that.

However, at the same time, if course it was, because Freshman is for people 17+ and Miraculous is a French children’s show. Now, I don’t excuse bad writing at the slightest, even for a kids show, but I guess that’s just the reality of it 🤷‍♀️ The show made it’s bed a long time ago. I still enjoy some parts of it of course, but it’s still flawed.

But I’m going off track here. Is there any older fans out there who know of The Freshman series AND still enjoys Miraculous Ladybug? Please let me know that your out there lol

So I replayed the Junior and I forgot how annoying Tyler was. I thought that I told Abby to leave his dumb easily manipulated ass. Plus the alphas smelled like bad news bear shit from the start and I basically skimmed the whole part where Beau plays that prank till the last chapter. Forgot exactly when. This book was the only one that I was happy it ended quickly. All the dumb choices dialogue and mc getting involved in everyone’s problems was so annoying and not fun to play. Kinda don’t blame her since all her friends called and started screaming for help. The plot was stupid and easily avoidable if mc just stayed home and kept away from that toxic group. Like dude, even Sebastian should have said something like “hey that club is for rich assholes that like to do illegal shit on a daily basis like getting people sent to the hospital or killed but they don’t suffer any consequences cuz you know they are rich af and can do what ever they want”. They had so many freakin chances to have a normal life and only have Tyler be stuck in that wolf den. I’m pretty sure he caused most of the problems throughout the series. I swear they should dumped him in book 1.

Hello passengers we are making our descent please buckle your seat belts

Chris buckles his seat belt then nudges a sleeping Emily “Wake up Em”

“Hmmmm?”

“We’re about to land”

Emily’s eyes flutters open then she smiles “Ugh that flight felt so long”

“It was only 2 hours”

“Still long”

Chris chuckles as Emily buckles her seat belt. The plane lands and they get their suitcases. They get to the taxi stand and Emily smiles “Chris I need to head home I’m really tired and I want to sleep”

“Awww I really wanted to take a cab together Em”

“Me too but my bed is calling my name”

Chris smirks “That’s not the only thing that was calling your name”

Emily blushes “Chris!” She smacks him playfully as he laughs “So I’ll see you later” She runs a finger up his chest

“You say your tired yet your teasing”

Emily giggles “I’m allowed to do that”

Chris chuckles “Yeah I’ll see you later can you at least call when you get home?”

“I will” She kisses his cheek “I love you Chris”

“I love you too Em”

She gets into the cab and drives away. Chris gets into the next cab and heads to the house. He thinks of all his friends said If I ask her about it she’ll deny it but none of my friends were at my wedding I need to know what happened The cab pulls up to his house and he gets his suitcase and walks in. He looks around No sign of her maybe she went out He approaches the bedroom and hears voices through the door

“Is Chris still not back yet?”

“No he went to his friend’s wedding he was supposed to come back today”

“Well we can still come up with a good campaign for his reelection you sure he’s gonna do this?”

“I’m sure this will really make the voters vote for him and more elite people will be wanting to talk to him more connections more money will roll in” Chris clenches his jaw and walks into the room Becca looks up “Oh Chris you’re back”

“Get off the phone now Becca”

“Chris hold on this is about your campaign”

“I don’t give a fuck hang it up”

Becca frowns “I’m gonna have to call you back” She hangs up the phone then crosses her arms “Why are you being so rude? I’m trying to help you out”

“Help me? By making me do the things that you know you hate you only want me to talk to all these boring ass people so that you can get that dough anything for a couple of hundreds right?!”

“That’s not true!” Becca jumps off the bed “Chris I’m doing this for you we deserve this! You deserve this! Your family was struggling and now that you’ve got money you’ve helped them out all because of me I got the connections I’ve helped you!”

“You haven’t helped me with nothing Becca I’ve got here thanks to my hard work and your little schemes didn’t help at all!”

“What schemes?”

“Oh cut the crap Becca my friends all told me you didn’t invite any of them to the wedding”

“Well obviously they’re lying you should believe me I’m your wife!”

“Oh really?” Chris pulls out his phone and presses play Sorry you can’t come to the wedding Chris needs to be surrounded by rich sophisticated people and not you “Zach sent me that recording”

Becca’s eyes widen then she steps back “Chris I…”

“Still want to deny it?”

Becca huffs “Well it was true!”

“You called that the truth you know what” Chris starts to gather some things

“Chris what are you doing?”

“I’m staying at a friend’s for the night I can’t even look at you let alone stay in the same room as you”

Tears begin to well up in Becca’s eyes “Chris please don’t go I’m sorry!” Chris ignores her and continues packing “Chris I did it for you please!”

“No you did it for you Becca you only care about your image not mine” Chris gathers his things and heads out the door as Becca drops to her knees and sobs

Chris sits in his office sighing as Emily pokes her head in “Is this a bad time?”

“No you can come in”

Emily slowly closes the door “I’m guessing you talked to Becca”

“Yeah she lied to me Em I can’t be with her anymore”

Emily places a hand on his shoulders “I’m here if you need me Chris”

Chris takes her hand and squeezes it “Thanks Em you’re amazing” He sighs as he opens a drawer and pulls out a folder “I’ve had these for a while now’s the time to give these to her”

Emily nods “You’re unhappy I get it you can’t stay in a loveless marriage”

“Yeah I can’t take it anymore” He pulls out his phone and shows her the dozens of messages from Becca “I haven’t been responding to her I don’t want to talk to her”

“Is there anything I can do to cheer you up”

Chris smirks as he stands “Actually yes there is something you can do” He wraps his arms around her pulling her closer

Emily blushes “Chris…we shouldn’t here…”

“I don’t care where we are” He kisses her deeply

Becca approaches the office typing on her phone He’s gotta answer me at some point it doesn’t help that these people are calling and texting me all day we gotta get through this and then we can go back to normal. She takes a deep breath as she blindly reaches his office door and walks in “Chris we need to…” She looks up from her phone and sees Chris and Emily against the wall in each others arms she drops her phone as her mouth drops opens “Chris…Emily…what?”

Chris let’s go of Emily and turns to her “I can explain this”

Watched the first ep of Love Senior. I'll be honest this might be a binge for me instead of a live watch.

It's not really the fault of the show x se. It has more to do with my hangs ups then quality (even if the pilot was very fast paced, like way too fast).

I understand that GLs are just starting, which means they are going to start in the same place BLs did, but I am not going to lie the mix of 2 moons and Sotus energy this show has is not doing it for me. Plus as someone who struggled throught Sotus because of the Hazing aspect it's exponentially worse with girls (all my bullies were girls so this is just a little too triggering).

#txt #it might not be for me #this is no way me saying it's bad #just that it's not for my tastes #love senior #love senior the series #also not going to put this in the body of the post but that scene where the main love interest and her friend asks #a freshmen boy they have power over to strip to see his naked chest made me really uncomfy #it would have made me uncomfy if guys were doing it to a guy or if they were doing it to a girl #again i understand bls also had “problematic” stuff in pretty much all of their early bls and some still do #but it made me uncomfy when bls do it and it's going to make me uncomfy now that gls are doing it #i don't think we should have different standards of criticism for gls then we do bls #also reminder you can like something and still criticisize it #something might not be for you (like this drama is not for me) and you can still recognize the importance of this existing #i am glad that love senior exist just because it's not for me that doesn't mean that it should not exist at all #last side note: i did appriciate that in the male freshman makeover they kept his glasses just got him tinner more stylish frames #that was a major win
