What are your thoughts about One For All?
By that, I mean the power itself, the story surrounding it, the connections to All For One, the person, all of it. You spoke extensively about Izuku and now I'd like to hear your thoughts about his quirk. Yoichi Shigaraki seemed very suspicious, and his quirk being a death curse at first seemed like it was setting up for a really morally ambiguous OFA. But it turns out the guy's a saint and he's trying to take down the devil. As far as I can tell, One For All kills people just to justify Izuku being the current holder and to make him special. We also got the typical shōnen power escalation of Izuku ending up with a bunch of new powers out of nowhere. Many of which seemed to exist just to have him surpass All Might quickly enough so he could handle fights against super powerful foes, because this series takes places within a year. The story rushed this dude's development, so his powers had to rush him to where he could handle things. And he also became a genius who could master a bunch of new quirks in a very short amount of time. Many of the abilities felt very redundant with his power set or go mostly unused, such as smokescreen. Float and Black Whip were cool and added a lot to Izuku's kit. The OFA vs AFO plot line eventually took over the series. I prefer the battles against AFO's forces in comparison to the earlier parts of the series, where the kids fought each other in battles with no stakes. The academia part of MHA was always the weakest part, but some people preferred it. What do you think?
One For All... well, let me get this almost mandatory part out of the way: he suffers for being introducing during The War Arc, and by dint of it means we'll probably never have a satisfying amount of information on him.
Quirk wise... it actually tracks? If family Quirks are similar, both AFO and OFA both, then, have a Quirk that is based around 'transfering Quirks', the same way that Asu's family all have Quirks based around frogs, yet they are all expressed in different ways.
I've seen people argue that the mysterious door he's helping hide is AFO, since the stockpiling Quirk passed through AFO himself first.
I just, let me.... alright. Honestly? I could see it. I really wouldn't be that surprised at this point if they did that. Logically? That makes no sense. The power stockpiling Quirk was just that, stockpiling power. It was only special when it got fused with OFA's nameless Quirk, and they fused into something more, a Quirk that is apparently specialized to act as a mental arc, in his body. Moreover, it should mean that AFO would have a Vestige there, and I just... really hope they don't do that, because I can't see a way it ends well, you know?
More recently, I'm wondering if that BIg Mystery they're clearly hiding has to do with why AFO was crying when he was killing(?) the Second; did The Second kill OFA? Was that a revenge kill? Did OFA plan that? Did he go, 'My brother is too powerful to stop, so we must sacrifice ourselves until someone is strong enough to do so, and act as fertilizer for their eventual rise' and that's why the first couple of generations are edgy and the later ones, who didn't get that memo, or who were thought to be that theoretic final product, are more open?
I... could see that. It's not something I think would be done well, with MHA as it is now, but I could see that.
Really though, when you think about it the fact that each of them have suicidally went up against AFO in his prime means that there's no way that OFA should have been able to be transferred throughout the generations, because AFO has so much stacked in his favor that he should have easily been able to hunt them down and kill them (and when does he even realize they have that Quirk? Early on, especially, it couldn't have been easy, with how weak it was; it'd probably be easier to identify it based off behavior more than power).
The thing I've realized about OFA is that the early lore for it is really kind of questionable, just because they explicitly went up against AFO with barely any power ups, which is basiclly suicide. Even if AFO wanted them alive to keep the Quirk alive (and why? Before his 'development' you could argue it's because he wanted his brother back, and thus his Vestige in it, and later it's a strong Quirk, but there's a good period where it was a Quirk with potential, not power, and AFO has been developed into a two dimensional caricature who would kill for the lulz, who has no depth or moral attachment to anything. Before his 'development' you could argue that he wanted even a small part of his brother back, and it would explain things, but now? Was he just... letting it live to refine it so he could steal it when it was strong? It'd fit with how everything is AFO's fault these days), it would be dead ass easy for him to capture the current Holder and then keep them imprisoned, maybe after crippling them, until he can get what he wants from them.
The fact it's kind of incompatible with a person with a Quirk... kind of tracks, since, you know, Nomu, but if this was always a thing, under that logic everyone who wasn't Quirkless with this thing should have rendered brain damaged like, you know, the Nomu. The fact that they kind of... fall apart? That feels like bullshit. It has the energy of trying to make Izuku a True Destined Hero in a True Shonen by making him the only one who could use it safely, instead of, you know, just being chosen on his heroic merits, and goes blatantly against the themes the manga was talking about from the start, that everyone can be a hero. Because 'men aren't born equal' is wrong, and even a Quirkless kid can be heroic, can save someone. But, you know... Everything Changed When The War Arc Attacked. I'm not surprised it got fucked up.
May be a little off topic, but I'll point out since AFO has vestiges now (suddenly), that that's going to be important for whatever end game there is, and, you know, that's going to be bullshit, since OFA only has those from a Quirk that was specialized in making them, and even then they only started communicating with him at the War Arc, after generations of that one Quirk being powered up to allow it to happen. Meanwhile, AFO just takes the Quirks, and even if Quirks keep, well, a vestige of their former owner, why did it take so long to happen if it was just a thing that happened when you moved Quirks? Why didn't any OFA user before Izuku have this happen? Why aren't the Nomu filled with the traumatic impulses of their parts; not the main body, but the minds of however many extra Quirks are stuffed inside them? There's no reason for that logic to apply to AFO, since he just takes them, but... yeah. ECWTWAA.
....So, is the reason he's such a two-dimensional character is that he can't get a good night's sleep because god knows how many people are just constantly screaming at him, in a ironic own goal on their part that is making him more and more evil as he slowly loses his mind over the years, doing more and more terrible things they don't want him to? Or is that just me putting more work in AFO's characterization that Hori has actually done?
You want to know my prediction? That was introduced as the way to beat him, in the end: Izuku and OFA are going to lead a revolution in AFO's body/mind and purge him, or... something stupid to beat his mind once and for all, since AFO is apparently studying Orochimaru style immortality and we're reaching a point where killing any one body, and maybe even both, won't be enough to kill him, so they have to go deeper to finish him!
Which totally makes sense.
SIgh.
On the Vestiges, and the powers? In theory, I'm fine with it, Hori clearly was hinting about them way back when, but in practice the way that's been handled is ass. Either A, these guys all have buttons to unlock their Quirks, in which case there should have been a Team Meeting with Izuku rather than him randomly shooting out combat tentacles out of nowhere, when he could have killed someone with them, just like... you're in a fight; surprise super powers! What could go wrong, or B, it just happens, in which case them making noises about proving himself or whatever sounds... dumb when what they think about the situation has nothing to do with it.
More than that, though, the way they're being used to power up Izuku? The way that they're just his Stands now, more than actual characters? Only showing up behind him to show how serious Izuku is? The sheer fucking disrespect of it irks me; Hori, if you're going to introduce actual characters who are people, then treat them like people. If you just want to give Izuku powers, don't give him a mindscape full of people with opinions, just give him powers. One or the other Hori; you can just give Izuku a weird Animus style flashback without a personality you actually need to manage being attached.
On the powers themselves, it's clearly something that got dropped on the wayside. Black Whip, obviously, is Hori's favored child, lovingly used at every possible chance and drawn out in great detail (I hear he really likes Spiderman?) but after that? The first couple were utility skills, chosen to give Izuku some soft support while he wandered on his own without readily available support tech, beyond those.... Hori just used them as crutches to skip over all the development Izuku never had the time to do to master AFO itself. No matter how they phrase it, no matter how complicated they make the explanation, they're just there so he can punch harder.
As a person, it's hard to tell much about OFA. He has morals, he opposes his brother, he's keeping secrets from Izuku.... let's be honest here, he's more of a plot device than a human being at this point, and I have zero faith in his future development. It's kind of frustrating since there's a lot of interesting potential there (is he a Good Guy(TM)? Did AFO just go too far, and before that he was fine with his brother the warlord? Was he cowardly like Izuku, but also went through character development once he gained the ability to stand up for himself? There's a lot of ways his characterization could be spun, but that has more to do with his lack of characterization than anything) that I'm sure he'll never live up to than anything.
Beyond that... there's this symbolism with hands that keeps coming up. Shigaraki has it, of course, that's mostly his trauma being expressed with his hand based Quirk (and strengthened by AFO using hands to condition him, actually...), to the point where it became his theme. Later on, though, when they started expanding on AFO and OFA mentally, there's thing where both of them are reaching out to people, with this focus on their hands. Both of them do it, and it's always drawn in this ominous sort of way, even for OFA, the apparent good guy. Sometimes, usually (or only?) for AFO (who also has a Quirk focused around his hands; it's not surprising his mind would orient around that to some extent) it's even the only thing we see of their mental silhouettes. It's... very interesting to me, and makes me think there was probably going to be more to him at some point, that there was going to be some, any, depth to his character.
On the academia part, here's the thing: compared to later on, the early stuff was better, not on the merits of school vs fighting, but because early on, even with its flaws, it's clearly something Hori put a lot thought into, had a plan. The later stuff? Well, there's some sort of plan, but the later we get in the timeline, the more it feels like Hori is backpedaling from some original concept, and changing it to something else as we go along. And in itself, his ideas changing isn't a bad thing, but those changes are still built off the foundation of his older plans, and it leaves more and more plot points hanging out in the wind, without proper support. If this manga was a house, the higher Hori built it, the more floors he added, the more he started shifting the house to one side, while everything he had already built stayed where it was. That's not how you get a solid house, and no matter how much fancier those higher floor may look, it doesn't make up for the fact that it's only barely staying in place.
At the same time though, it's clear that, for all that this series is called My Hero Academia, the actual school part of it is something Hori doesn't seem to be all that interested in, or have put thought into. UA, narratively, isn't a school, it's an excuse, and the times when Hori puts in things like class presidents, or normal, actually academic tests and the like, it's because he has to put them in, and so it's understandable when you look at the actual school parts of this 'school', it feels awkward and out of place.
When people talk about liking it, it was probably less, 'Man, Izuku and friends in school, doing school things, was great' (though, there are are probably plenty of those as well, to be fair; again, My Hero Academia; it's not surprising to see interest in that school setting promised in the actual title) and more that, 'Wow, it was nice to focus on Izuku and the main cast we were introduced to from the beginning, and watch them actually talk to each other and interact!', since the farther we got into the actual hero stuff, the less we had of all that, and of all the characters we got attached to originally, when we first started the story.

I'd love to learn your thoughts on the rest of the bnha cast, particularly the main characters! Could you list your top 10 and share why you like them?
THIS WAS SO TOUGH I had to go through a complete character list to make sure I didn't miss anyone and I'm still not satisfied
Honestly BNHA does so well with character variety I love so much of the cast, tho it does fall into the pit of "there are too many characters and story threads to finish them all or even mention them ever again", do not talk to me about Shinsou
Anyway we're ignoring Aizawa, Yamada, and Eri because I think everyone already knows that they're my least favorite characters /s
10. Overhaul - probably one of the worst people in the show tbh but I really loved anytime his character was on screen?? he was such a calm but simmering threat before he was actively violent and honestly his voice acting in the dub imo was REALLY special. the whole organized crime angle is also one of my vibes in storytelling so I really enjoyed his character. plus his character design is *chef's kiss*
9. Tokoyami - he's a bird man with a dark passenger that acts like a puppy sometimes what's NOT to love -- I'm actually going to cheat and tie Tokoyami with Bakugou here because I had second thoughts. Bakugou's pivot in his relationship with Midoriya was one of my favorite character development moments and felt so well-done and earned that he's definitely in my top 10
8. Mirio - BEST BOY! Togata is just so positive and wholesome and selfless, every time I revisit his clash with Overhaul I sob my eyes out. I wasn't on board with his pivot in eye design at first but once I got to know him I fell for him HARD. There's literally no downside to this guy but at the same time that's ALRIGHT! Rather than it being obnoxious it's done in a way that I find flawless. like he still has weaknesses but he's composed so well as a character
7. Amajiki - how can you not love this poor anxious guy?? he's very relatable and anytime he pushes through his head to succeed in his goals I just want to scream and hug him. plus his quirk is amazing and I could NEVER because I'm such a picky eater
6. Kurogiri/Shirakumo - THE POWER OF ANGST no but partly it’s his relationship to our two favorite UA teachers but also Oboro seemed like such a GEM and I want to know him as he was and I have such high hopes for where the story is currently headed… Kurogiri himself is such a cool reflection/twist of his original personality that I find myself trying to read into every appearance he makes. Save him please
5. Shigaraki - kind of more superficial to begin with because his motivations were never SUPER interesting to me but his character arc has been a joy to watch and YES I know villains and heroes alike in this story have great writing that make them sympathetic but. for me Shiggy is one of the most obvious. like he can't be forgiven because he has done SO much damage and taken SO many lives but he really is the perfect hybrid example of when heroes fail those around them, and when villains influence those around them. also his path from childish gamer tantrum child to legitimate terrifying threat was a slow burn that feels earned. I think he was also my favorite early character design, specifically his full-hand costume he wore first at the USJ
4. Shinsou - dude's personality aside he's impressively ambitious and I really feel for his circumstance, I kinda took to him like Aizawa did? i was really invested in his path from the start and really would love to see him achieve his goal. i just want to see what he'll doooo. he was a major part of why I enjoyed season 5. hopefully he makes an appearance in the manga to help with current events but I'm probably just wishfully thinking
3. All Might - i usually never like the "superman" character in most things but Toshinori is imo the best-written of them and he has such a great character arc. i want all the best for this man that gave and is giving so much to the world, all at the cost of himself
2. Dabi - HONESTLY these last two can be interchangable. Dabi's character design is probably my favorite in the entire story. it's simple but iconic and very visually appealing even though it's. dead and burned skin LMAO. i'll be brutally honest, tho Todoroki is a great character and Endeavor is definitely trying, that whole family drama is kinda disinteresting to me (but is getting better)(which I hope continues since it's the opinion of some of the more... vocal readers that it's all that carries the later story and if that's true I want to REALLY enjoy it, y'know?). i'm thankful for Dabi because his existence in the story finally has my ears perked towards that thread and I really appreciate his drive even though the intention is to destroy hero society
1. Hawks - I'm going to repeat myself: CHARACTER DESIGN. the moment I saw Hawks I was like. in love. I really like spy storylines in general but I get easily drawn to characters that are outwardly charming, friendly, a bit obnoxious, confident, and know exactly how to appear in order to communicate their intentions. But then deep down... soooo many secrets. Plus, aside from Hawks' tragic family story, his tie to Endeavor as his idol is an extreme positive for Endeavor's character arc in my eyes. Hawks' tragedy doesn't end there though, because in a world of government-sponsored heroes he is perhaps THE MOST government-sponsored, and though they were the reason he had the resources to get to where he is, it's a weakness that has him kind of leashed, and I find that really sad. then we have his ruthlessness, which no matter how you feel about what happened to Twice, is sometimes necessary when it comes to saving the most amount of people. Hawks being the one to take that final action cemented him in my top 3
Honorable mentions for the rest that fall into the black hole of spots 11-20:
Midoriya, Bakugou, Tsuyu, Nana Shimura, Kaminari (just a dumb, lovable lad), Midnight, Kirishima, Mirko, Ryukyu, Monoma, Honenuki, Fatgum (challenging Mirio for best boy placement), Endeavor
Honorable honorable mentions for character designs I just LOVE:
Thirteen, Snipe, Sero, Kuroiro, Mandalay/all of the Pussycats tbh, Majestic, Mr. Compress, Geten, Moonfish, USJ Nomu, Rappa
Honorable honorable honorable mention for this dude that doesn't appear enough to qualify for the list but still deserves a shout-out:
Yokumiru Mera, please let him sleep

the new characters from SAFWY may seem to have silly powers but Narita took care to make them sensible within the bleach verse.
Azashiro is EXTREMELY weak to absorption type abilities, so any quincy and Yumichika would mess him up badly. He also recognizes he would lose against any of the senior captains (Shunsui, Ukitake, Unohana), and Yamamoto goes without saying.
Cien is the strongest espada but not so much that he doesnt recognize that Yammy, Starrk and Barragan have a chance to kill him.
The power scalling gets bad when talking about stablished characters. Narita is a HUGE Zaraki fanboy.
In this novel Zaraki reached the same level of power as the monstrous form Ichigo took against Ulquiorra. And its also stated he could disipate Baraggan´s respira with the preassure of the swings of his blade. That cool strategy and poetic end to the Baraggan fight? Nah son just call Zaraki, its that easy.
Maybe in Naritas mind Zaraki was already the 2nd strongest shinigami after Yama, but since TYBW is a thing the senior captains were stronger than him at this point in time. So Monster Ichigo was kinda mid in terms of power. And that feels like it cheapens the impact of Ichigo BECOMING A MONSTER, he wasnt so monstrous after all. Also Segunta Etapa Ulquiorra was weaker than Baraggan.
Yeah my problem isn't that they don't make sense in Bleach's universe, they fully make sense in the universe. They're just kinda bad lol, Azashiro might have a weakness, but he's also established by oneshotting a character who himself was built up in the lamest possible way: by telling us how cool he is. And then Azashiro walks into a Captains' meeting and walks out alive. Like, it's not flouting the lore, but it does make Yamamoto et al. look super lame for not being able to kill him there.
Similarly, the idea that Szayelaporro can have a digital double made of himself that somehow becomes more powerful than the original...come on. Original recipe Szayelaporro, with his neverending fight and underexplained ability to just turn off his enemies' powers, was bad enough...now you're telling me that a cheap copy is somehow stronger?
So the characters fit in the universe...they're just lame and uninteresting and don't actually have any themes or development, so why would I care about them? It's why I had no problem with the Zaraki stuff. That actually dovetails with what Kubo reveals about him later on during TYBW, and honestly I was sort of hoping he'd be even more powerful and oneshot these annoying OCs. Because Zaraki, you see, is a character I like who has a character arc that I am following, and when I pick up a Bleach story I would much rather read about him or Ikkaku or Yumichika or Uryu or even Don Kanonji than I would the characters Narita introduces here.

(@hearthome-habitant) Uh... hey there. I know we haven't interacted before, but I don't know who else to ask this.
You seem to know a lot about Murkrow... do you mind going into more detail about how to care for them?
...Also, if want to share some knowledge about Ghost types, I'd appreciate it. There's a bunch native to Lost Tower, and I want to be prepared to both face and care for one.
Hello! That's alright, I may live in the middle of Eterna Forest, but I don't mind being asked questions! Even as obsessed as I was with ghosts, I always loved flying types too, and Murkrow captured my heart early on.
They're omnivores in the wild, so while I've never known one to turn up their nose at a berry feast, it shouldn't be all they eat! If you choose to feed them kibble, something high-energy with plenty of protein is ideal. Like most Flying types, they have a fast metabolism, and I suspect their habit of cooking up mischief takes extra energy, heh!
They're also just very active in general. Whenever they're out of their ball they like to be Doing Something, whether it's exploring or enrichment activities like puzzle feeders or teasing their trainer and team.
It might take a little patience to bond with them, they can be pretty aloof at first. But they respond well to being engaged together! Battling, playing, conspiring, even eating together sometimes. My first Murkrow bonded with my ghosts through making mischief together. They may be dark types, but they're still highly social creatures!
Battling with a Murkrow in my experience works best if you can leverage their speed and hard-hitting tactics. They can also work strategically, they're smart enough to keep up. They can't take hits as well as they can dish it out though, so it might be a good idea to work on their endurance.
And facing the ghosts in the Lost Tower… I went there before I officially started my journey. It was my first time meeting a ghost type in person! They don't have to be super powerful to get what they need (or play how they want) there, so you can focus on strategizing and overcoming their tricks.
The cool thing about dark types is that they generally keep their confidence up even when ghosts use tactics that can frustrate and scare other types. Going invisible, creating an eerie atmosphere, inducing confusion… It's really neat to watch actually!
The ghosts of Sinnoh don't have much in the way of physical strength, so what you're probably going to see is a lot of tricks and misdirection and maybe an attempt to scare you off rather than a full-frontal assault. Ghosts in general defend themselves mostly by playing the psychological field! Their whole strategy is usually "try not to get hit in the first place", because they typically can't take hits very well.
You can definitely use it against them. Murkrow can learn Haze, which is really useful for revealing their tricks! Feint Attack is also stellar against ghosts, because they can lock onto the ghost even when they're hiding and still hit them, and it leverages both Murkrow's power and the ghost's weak defenses.
So I know that was a lot of information. I hope it wasn't overwhelming, and I hope it helps! Best of luck on your journey, by the way, and I would recommend maybe bringing some cleanse tags along, just in case the ghosts turn out to be particularly active that day. Happy travels!

@simurghed said (I tried to reblog but something's not working)
"Please oh please gush at me randomly about Wormpowers!" Okay! Hope you didn't mean concisely! Heck, this could be a good tournament of sorts; comparing not the folk who HAD the powers but how great the powers themselves are.
"Please oh please gush at me randomly about Wormpowers!"
Okay! Hope you didn't mean concisely!
Heck, this could be a good tournament of sorts; comparing not the folk who HAD the powers but how great the powers themselves are.
You'd have to specify whether the tournament was about 1: Cool. 2: Desirable. 3: Scary. 4: Would win in a fight (boring)
A: Grey Boy is depressingly(?) close to a childhood OC of mine, though far more OP since I didn't have that "invincible and also eternally young and clean" aspect to it.
B: Circus is a great magical girl that only needs a mascot and I'd love to know what they're like when in civilian form.
C: Mouse Protector is a lot of enthusiastic cringe about much of my childhood and the childhoods of some of my contemporaries, and also Droopy Dog--a cartoon character I hate.
D: Night. I love the synergy between Night and Fog/Purity, and just the way Night fights in general.
E: There's a member of maybe the fallen--can't remember who or whether it came up in PRT Quest or in Ward--that when they speak people listen. That's it; the words compel attention above and beyond all else. I feel like this would be a nightmare power for me to have and would both "solve" my problems and also do so in the worst possible way and so it's probably the one I'd get.
F: I think about Coil a lot. Remember that crappy-but-fun Nicholas Cage movie "Next"? It's kind of Coil.
G: I should bring up Taylor but…do you like the color of the sky? Which Taylor? Her powerset evolves and grows so much. At the start? It takes her seven or more arcs to realize she can disguise herself with bugs, and she STILL isn't using them to track where the bullies are (or who is around her) on a 24/7 basis and this is silly of her. Side note: If I ever write a Taylor/Sophia it'll be called "Nosee'um" probably. Not sure I'd do that, but I know how it starts. (And ends.) Anyway, it's really the administration and surveyal part of her power I particularly envy. I can't chase two rabbits at once and sometimes not even one, but she could herd billions.
H: (heh) Grue is actually amazing and especially after his second trigger. There's a fanfic out there where he goes solo and grimdark and he captures evil capes and saps their power, slowly making himself a very strong grab-bag cape. He had Viktor chained up in his basement to facilitate this. Speaking of H.
I: Screamer is amazing. Imitating voices perfectly and making them seem to come from anywhere? A whole nonviolent origin story just for her would be fun.
J: Accord. I want more Cenotaph, and it's half because I want more Accord.
K: Edict. Edict has a mystery power where if you don't do what she says you get a minor temporary curse? Someone with a weak unremarkable power having to make it work and maybe figuring out how to make it super good actually? Sounds familiar in a good way. I want more.
L: Mama Mathers is a nightmare villain; one of those things that make you wonder how they could ever lose even more than Coil does.
M: Roulette's power is great for something I might give someone in a TTRPG. Useful, game-directing, but not gamebreaking. …super frustrating, though.
N: Alexandria's memory, tho…
O: Weld. Weld's powers, with someone else at the helm? Could be so gender. SO gender.
P: Golem. But only in a lewd way. Or home decoration. Or both at the same time.
Q: Sanguine could apparently look great in red, dish out damage to Behemoth, and just walk around and cure people of bloodborne illnesses, sort of like Panacea could do, if she'd just cut loose a bit (there's no reason she couldn't make a steady stream of non-self-replicating cancerphage/virii emitters with finite lifespans. She could walk into a hospital, focus for a bit, then relax and read a book while her creations did all the work.
R: Myrrdin because it really feels like he had to study and scheme to build his "spells" and maybe in a way indistinguishable from
S: Big Picture can stop and think about someone as long as they want.
T: Semiramis. With that power someone could keep a car, house, or a rare book in good condition. Not to mention people.
U: Engel? I mean, supernaturally pretty and compelling?
V: Flor is hilarious.
W: Horizon's power includes Xray vision? And the rest is just some punchy-boom? That's the kind of weak powerset I'd love to see get explored.
X: Blindside (Even more fun than Nice Guy!)
Y: I love Regent. Hijack is fun too, but Regent's power was great and he used it so effectively!
Z: Tattletale, of course.
But my favorite is like I said at the top before I got started.

Which of the genshin men would respond better to a half-dragon! Darling?
As in: biological urge to breed and make eggs, sensitive horns and tail, WING KINK WING KINK WING KINK, haughty arrogant and stupid. (ALSO naturally gravitates towards shiny items so she can be caught in the dumbest ways.)
So like... if half-dragon darling has bbs with Zhongli does that make the bbs three-quarter-dragons....? Half-dragon quarter-human quarter-qilins???
But, either way, obviously he would respond really well to it, it gives him a sense of connection to you, and it also provides him with some background knowledge that can be used against you :) He knows all your weaknesses and needs, the things you can be tempted with, the things you can be weakened by... unfortunately this also means you know the same for him though so :/ At least your urge to breed matches his own! The biology is more compatible for that anyhow.
As for arrogance though... Dragons do tend to have a lot of pride. You share that, actually... But only one of you is the one in charge, and he will gladly make sure you quickly learn that it's not you.
Childe would get off to it in some weird power dynamic way of his. It feels like a power rush to "conquer" something that's supposed to be super powerful (even if you're really not), especially something often considered to be of sacred status, something deemed untouchable or dangerous. Note that this is also true even if you are like, the most harmless creature ever. A lazy dragon hybrid that does nothing but sleep all day, no claws or anything. Just. Let him live out his power fantasy okay? He needs it... Besides, if you're all hauty, that just makes said fantasy more fun. He wants to break you down and make you "his" in an emotional sense.
Razor has an affinity for any darling that has something "special" about them, particularly if that ties to animals in some way. You're just like him! Well, except for the scales and the reptilian features. But, just like him in the sense that you're both different from other people. It's both a sense of connection, as well as a sense of security, safety in a sense -- he doesn't fear judgement or ridicule from you, he trusts you won't shrink away from him or be weirded out by him. After all, you're different too, so you wouldn't do that to him right? You know what that feels like, so you'll be nice to him... Fortunately, or rather amusingly, attempts at prideful arrogance are somewhat lost on him. He cannot read tone of voice or facial expressions very well, and takes everything at face value and very literally, so he doesn't pick up on your arrogant words unless they're very direct, and either way just shrugs off most of what you say.
And finally, Venti has plenty of experience with dragons. He won't be intimidated or anything like that, it's almost kinda surprising how he just kinda "oh, I see. Cool. Anyway-" as if it's not a big deal. Also, his patience makes him ideal for dealing with any arrogance from you, as he can laugh it off for the most part.
If you'd like, he can also introduce you to Dvalin! You might... Get along? Something like that. Let's just hope Dvalin's brain doesn't see you and think "mate", or else it's actually going to be more like Venti trying to fight him off and run. On note of trying to run, Venti also becomes a more difficult captor to get away from, seeing as taking to the skies won't allow you to escape...

Tumblr media
GOJO
"Ehhhh, that's hilarious!" "Its really..not-"
"So what? Dragons? Fairies? Like vampires? Though those arent really a uniqe thing-"
* looks at Megumi * "wtf?"
"Demons? Ah, I suppose we have them here too. Ah, isnt that funny?" its really not-
"But I bet Im stronger than anyone from your little world ;)" "And more arrogant" "huh?"
For the fact you've just told him you're from a different world he cares, surprisingly little.
Maybe its due to him being used to super natural things.
"Either way I could solo everyone from there" Why is that the only thing he cares about?
"Actually, I'm not so sure about that." "Ehhh?"
"We have to go there sometime. Could use some vacation" you just came back from a trip-
"Do they have sweets there?"
MEGUMI
"..you are human tho, right?" halts in his doing and looks at you kinda suspicious
hes not really..loud about it which is why you maybe wouldnt see his surprise, but irritation.
"well I guess there's more kinds of magic than I know of."
he doesn't really ask many quesions, he thinks a lot about it though. He thinks it through quietly.
He might won't ask you about it for a while, you can tell him about it because he will take a while to actually ask his questions.
he's processing it quietly, and doesn't want to be rude asking questions that maybe aren't appropriate so he takes his time sorting his mind.
After a while, just as suddenly and surprising when you told him, he says, "So..could you, could you tell me more about where you're from?"
YUJI
Super, super hyped and excited.
"WAIT, REALLY?? LIKE, IS THERE, MONSTERS AND MAGIC AND KNIGHTS AND ALL THAT? DO YOU HAVE SUPER POWERS? Oh wait, are you a vampire???! no wait I've seen you in the sun before- A WEREWOLF??" he's bouncing with excitement and curiousity.
also has that shimmer in his eyes
"So you're not actually from here? Where is it? Can you go back and forth? Is there like, a portal or something?? Can I go there? Can you take me?"
His genuine interest is really cute and a lot better than the reaction you had expected, or feared.
"Do they have normal humans there? Is it a lot different? Wait, is it like a parallel universe? Would I exist there-? Or completely different? Like, dark and moody and mysterious and Lava-
maybe he reads too many manga and watches too many action/fantasy movies
"Do they have cars? Or TVs? I dont think I could live without TVs."
"Ahhh it's so cool, the occult research club would have loved it."
After his ramble he blinks abruptly, like he just noticed something, and stops.
"Im sorry, I asked quite alot, I didn't want to be rude-? Thanks for telling me, that must've been..stressful"
Would listen attentively to everything you tell him and soaks it up like a sponge.
asks questions in between and hums knowingly
"ohhhh"
He thinks its pretty cool
And though he wouldn't have expected it, he's starting to think he just needs to acccept that he, in fact, knows way less about the world than he used to think.
SUKUNA
Stares you down, for a moment you have no idea what's about to happen right now
"And?"
What.
"I'm a thousand year old demon, I'm not even human, you think something as little as that could surprise me? Try harder."
Uh, ok
"I'm sure anyone from your pathetic little world is no match for me anyway, if I take it they're all as weak as you."
thanks
"Is there even something interesting there? Blood? Murder? Violence- women?"
Oh god he's so stupid.
He wouldn't ask you questions about it. If you want to tell him more, do so, he will probably insult you again though.
He might bring it up in future reference, again, only to offend you.

Now I'm intrigued about the eevee army! It sounds like theres a story there and I would love to hear it!
Okay SO.
Back when the first Pokemon wave hit the U.S., roughly the late-90s and early 2000s, my family got massively Into It. By my family, I mean my big sister and my cousins, who were living with us at the time. Being somewhere between the age of 7 and 10, I was really just along for the cute little critters.
My sister and cousins, though. Full-tilt obsession. They had the fancy training mats and everything, though they got so good they didn't even need the mats to keep things straight. They used every bit of spare change to buy packs and boosters in the hopes of getting shinies and more powerful rare cards. It was exactly the kind of thing you'd expect from a herd of young geeks.
My mom, while somewhat disturbed by the fervor with which 4 of the 6 young children in her house started flipping out over little cartoon animals(?), didn't actively discourage it until the physical fights started. But that happened later. For the first few months, she was all too happy to feed the frenzy because it made birthdays and Christmas SUPER easy-- everyone gets a pack of Pokemon cards in their stocking. Yay! Christmas made, and it barely takes up any storage space.
But.
What's the one thing common to all random-chance-card-buying games? You get a bunch of weak, common cards in every pack. Sometimes that's all you get. But hey, that's Baby's First Gambling; you keep going back for more because what if you get that really powerful Shiny Charizard this time?
Now, I was not into the game aspect, nor into the collecting aspect. I just thought they were neat. I gave mine names and played games with them like they were dolls. I would use the Energy cards as food and have them run a little restaurant or go on a picnic. It was adorable and slightly embarrassing.
Now, back to the pack-devouring habits of my older sibling and cousins. In their quest to build the perfect, unbeatable deck, they accumulated quite a lot of 'useless' cards. Among those were plenty of low-level pokemon like Eevee.
Little me LOVED Eevee. (Heck, big me loves Eevee, they're the best.) Cutest pokemon ever, like a fox, a dog, a cat, and a squirrel all at once; everything I loved rolled into one adorable, fluffy little package! So I started asking if I could take the leftover Eevees for my Eevee city I was building with legos. "Yeah, sure, whatever, here you go."
I started doing this with other cards, too. Hey, can I have these energy cards you don't use for your electricity-heavy deck? Cool, thanks. What about these special action cards that don't work with your preferred type? Neat, thanks! I built up this big collection of castoff cards while my cousins and my sister duked it out for game supremacy.
Eventually, my cousins moved out. My big sister was left with nobody to play with... except me. I had never played, nor did I really want to. I didn't take it very seriously when she tried to teach me, mostly just going along with it to appease her. I would play the standard Gardevoir deck against her Blaziken deck, and she'd kick my trash every time.
I'm not sure how or when it first occurred to me, but one day a light went on. You lose when you have no more playable pokemon, right? Well I have, like, a billion Eevees. I'd never run out. I could use those. So I rebuilt the Gardevoir deck. One Gardevoir, and a billion Eevees. Because my Eevees didn't need any special energy type and I wasn't focusing on special attacks or actions, I could use literally any energy I had laying around, and my dozens of Eevees. I loaded the deck with that and only that. Sixty cards of energy and Eevees.
I don't know how, but it completely broke the balancing mechanics of the game. I smeared my sister's carefully curated Blaziken deck. She decided it was a fluke, so she used her Charizard deck. I won again. She cooked up a deck that was heavy on the Fighting types, which Eevee was weak against. Still, I won.
She threw everything she had at my Eevee Wall and never made it over. Turns out, "Keep chucking little fox squirrels until they wear your opponent down piecemeal" was not a strategy that designers and playtesters had accounted for. (Which I feel like they really should have, because this is supposed to be a kid's game, right? That's a totally kid thing to do. But anyway.)
My sister was ENRAGED. In her view, there was no way I should have been able to win by just spamming Eevees. It was a violation of the spirit of the game, and also, how did my wimpy little 50-health Eevees keep taking down her Onyx???
Nevertheless, Eevees persisted.
Our reign was glorious, if short-lived. She got so mad she quit playing altogether. She would rather not play at all than face my Eevee Army again. Which, now that I think about it, was kind of a jerk move, but I was, like, 9? And really tired of playing this boring card game when I had a whole soap opera plot to get back to with my little Eevee clan. The Queen was missing, guys! I didn't have time to play cards when the kingdom was in peril!
(For anyone concerned, I did eventually agree to play with her 'normally,' provided she made the deck for me and was fine with a hard limit of one game per day. I only realized looking back on it that she totally rigged my deck to make sure that not only did she win, she never had to look at another Eevee again.)
But yeah, maybe they've fixed things a little since the OG edition, but Eevee Army worked every dang time and it's still one of my proudest un-achievements of childhood.
Moral of the story: Never underestimate the power of a bored little girl and some really cute filler cards. Also, Eevee is the best.

Hey lol i hope i'm not bothering bug if that's okay could i request the first years + Grim {platonic only for the gremlin lol} (sorry i just love them they're all so precious🥺) with a MC who has demonic heritage? Like, when the mirror judged them he talked about them being stronger than the average human or something and they just shrugged went "ah yeah, it's because my grandparents are demons".
They're still human since they're the dominant genes but as i said previously they're stronger than an average person and have heightened senses. they're not as strong as a demon or a half-human half-demon but they're capable to defend themselves if needed.
Bonus if they actually get to meet their demon relatives and their relatives are super sweet to them. Sorry i just love the thought of a thousands of years old creature being soft for a kid 👉👈 gsksgs sorry that this is so specific gsksgsk
A/N: There’s nothing wrong with specific asks bby I love this prompt! I will be making a part two where the first years meet the grandparents :)
Y/N is gender neutral
Characters: Ace Trappola, Deuce Spade, Epel Felmeir, Jack Howl, Sebek Zigvolt, Grim (platonic ofc)
Ace:
-You both had to study for an upcoming test for Magical History
-Ace texting you, and I quote “PLZ HELP”
-With a ridiculously, large textbook with leather fastening laid out on the table and other resources you began your session
-”Okay, I understand every section of this book. But the last one is about demons, but I really don’t understand it. It’s in this forgien text and I can’t read any of it.”
-You turned to look at the page, looking it over, you understood it perfectly
-”It’s discussing magic potion compounds demons use. It’s nothing that we really need to study in depth.”
-Ace looked at you like you grew another head, “How could you understand any of that, Y/N!?”
-”Well, my grandparents are demons after all.”
-”Y/N, what the fuck.”
-You can’t just drop a bombshell like that?? So casually??
- Ace had been crushing on you forever, and just now you’re confessing this to him??
-I mean he knew that you were incredibly strong, but he just thought that was how humans from this place you call Earth come from
-He was so shocked and in a state of disbelief that he just had to meet your grandparents
Deuce:
-There had been rumors of a dark evil from within the forest, something otherworldly
-”Hey Deuce, wanna go check out of what's in the forest?” you asked, bored on this Friday night
-”W-what?! Are you crazy? I’m not going with you and you shouldn’t either-”
-And there he was, by your side roaming through the dark forest with a flashlight
-Hearing the coos and caws of different creatures lurking within
-”Ah new humans to devour, my favorite!” a new voice exclaimed.
-And while Deuce screamed, he got infront of you to protect you “Y/N get behind me now!”
-”Y/N?
-You recognized that voice. “Eren?”
-”Oh, well this is awkward-”
-”Now what did your mother tell you about terrorizing the innocent?” you asked, gripping the shadow beast’s...ear?
-”Now you best go home, otherwise I’ll tell Aunt Acheron!”
-Deuce was in a state of shock, mouth gaping open at your exchange
-”Sorry, that was my cousin Eren” you said sheepishly.
-”What do you mean cousin?” Deuce asked, not believing what was coming out of your mouth
-”Well my grandparents are demons. Almost my entire family is!”
-You were just… full of surprises aren’t you Y/N…
Epel:
-Pomefiore was hosting a “Party for the Ages” as Vil called it
-And they needed to get these decorations on point, so Epel called Y/N to help aid them
-They needed to hand the streamers from the upper handrail of the stairs, which keep in mind is a completely second story
-”Hey Y/N, could you please hang these up there?” Epel asked, handing you the streamers
-”Oh okay cool” you replied. Wait why are you running- oh my god you jumped to the second story of the dorm
-”Y/N!” Epel yelled out.
-”Yeah?”
-”What did you just do?!”
-That was superhuman strength, no human being could jump from the ground to the second story of a house, let alone a mansion like building?
-Once you both finished decorating you told him about your heritage with demons
-” I-I see”
-He understands but he is still in shock
Jack:
-He always knew that there was something strange about you
-Your abilities were flat out inhuman and your smell was different
-But he just couldn’t figure it out
-Until one day, he just had to ask
-You decided to help the organize the Rugby field with him in the afternoon
-”Hey, Jack! Catch!” you said, about 80 feet away from him
-And there you threw, except you didn’t quite aim it right
-And...the ball went right out of the vicinity
-the display looking like a comet as it blistered with so much heat it turned a bright orange-fiery hue
-Jack gasped at what just happened
-”Y/N, what even are you?” he asked, still bewildered
-”Well, a quarter demon. I’m not as strong as my grandparents though” you smiled.
-Jack loves you dearly Y/N, but god did you confuse him
Sebek:
-Ah, Sebek he really did try to keep his feelings for you at bay
-I mean, him with a human? Pathetic, it could never happen
-But everyone did see how he treated you more gently than others he had distaste for
-When he realized your true power and when you told him about your family was when you challenged to spar him
-Sebek decided to just go easy on you and throw out a couple of magical beams or whatever to help your skills in combat-
-Wait you’re beating his ass hold on-
-Even though Sebek won, the fae started his own little fit
-”What was that?! T-That isn’t like weak humans at all!”
-”Well, technically I’m not human since my grandparents are demons.”
-You grabbed your towel since you started to sweat
-”Well I’m going home, nice sparring match, Sebek! You did super good!” you complimented, giving a soft pat to his forehead with the back of your palm
-If he struggled this much fighting someone who only has a ¼ or ½ human DNA (he doesn’t know your parent’s DNA after all) then how powerful is a fullbread demon?
-The man has so many questions that he will bother you about
Grim (platonic):
-He knew during the first few months of school when you both had ghosts in your dorm
-And while you didn’t mind, there were a few in particular that seriously got on your nerves
-Those ghosts had to go
-One day they just wouldn’t stop messing with Grim
-And while he is a slight menace to society, Grim didn’t deserve it
-So you decided to take out your Amina Box (Soul Box), or your Soul Snatcher as you liked to call it that your grandmother had gifted to you
-Once you opened it, in the ghosts went inside vacuum like
-Grim was so weirded out
-”They were bullying me the whole time and you didn’t bother to stop them?! And where did you even get a box like that, stupid human?”
-”First of all, it was a little funny. Second off, I’m not really a human, after all my grandparents were demons.”
-Grim stayed in silence, connecting the dots until the light bulb went off and he got a little jealous
- “How come all the cool stuff happens to you?” Grim said, pouting.
-”Don’t worry, Grim. If ‘cool stuff’ happens, I’ll be sure to take you with me. I promise.”

I have no self control. And I simply just HAD to make this Victuuri. Because Reasons.
[credit for the prompt to @writing-prompt-s , check them, they're GREAT]
Imagine, super duper cutesy couple Victor and Yuuri Katsuki-Nikiforov. You know, the ones that always coo at dogs they see while having their morning run or the ones who never forget to double tip those poor overworked waiters. The kind of people to kindly smile at a grumpy looking stranger just to brighten their day, if only a little.
[It always works and how can it not when they see how cute Yuuri's dimples are? How much Victor's sea blue eyes sparkle in the sun when he smiles?]
Anyways, they have a secret.
That, per se, is not something extremely surprising. Everybody has secrets. But theirs? Oh boy, theirs is maybe the biggest, and best kept, secret one could ever come across on this Earth.
Imagine Mischievous Supervillain Victor Nikiforov.
[more after the cut]
[And yes, I know, everybody seems to be convinced that my boy 'Stammi Vicino' would be a superhero and I always ask myself why, like, have you heard the part where he skates to what literally translates to: "I'd like to cut open with a sword the throats of all who sing about love"
like,
that's murded bby boy
so anyway, enjoy catsuit clad extra supervillain Victor Nikiforov]
Icy eyes, cold smile, long hair [yes, he has long hair here, because I Say So] so light and bright they almost look white. White as the colour of his sinfully thight catsuit that literally leaves nothing to the imagination.
["It's for practicality, Yuuri. How do you expect me to climb walls and rob the pants out of those filthy riches without it? It helps me bLeNd iN tHe sHaDoWs!"
"It's literally white."]
Donned with surprisingly strong ice powers and inhuman reflexes, he is a 'rob the rich to give to the poor' kind of guy. They call him The Coreographer: lethally smart, silver tongued and so pretty he could kill a man with a look, [he never did, though, he believes in peace] a literal mastermind of crime but mortally bored with his dull, empty life. That was, until our dear Katsudon Fatale entered the game.
Imagine Insecure Superhero Yuuri Katsuki.
Ah, my boy Yuuri. Cute smiles and soft caramel eyes that always seem to hypnotize everyone around him to bow to his every command. Literally.
When our cute chubby 12 years old Katsudon firstly discovered that he could LITERALLY TALK PEOPLE INTO DOING ANYTHING HOW lS THIS HIS LIFE HELP HIM PLEASE HE IS SCARED.
And that didn't help his anxiety. At all.
This way, he learns the Weight of his Words and always saves them for when they are absolutely necessary.
How he came to be a superhero, he still doesn't know. He suspects it to be Phichit's fault.
How he came to meet The Coreographer, through a collaboration he did with Yuuri's Squad, befriend him and find beautiful Victor inside that hardened mask of cool and composed, still baffles him.
He still remembers that night, in front of the sea, where, after almost three months of collaboration [because this time it was serious, this time there were lives at stake and he had done nothing to stop it before, but now that light was in his life again Victor would be damned if he let this one happen, if he, voluntarily, let other people, other children, suffer like he did] Yuuri still let his doubts get the best of him and screamed at Victor for all he did, and didn't do, before.
He immediatly regretted it when he saw those perfect blue eyes swell up with tears and regretted it even more when Victor finally told him about his life. Stories about being beat up, when he was still an orphan on the streets, for who he was, for his Power and about how people, bad people, had tried to use him for their own gain. He told vague stories about friends of his who had died of starvation during the night, in the cold cells they were kept in all day, from where they could exit just to be experimented on because they were weapons, not people.
["But you were only ten, Victor. Do you mean to tell me that they...?"
Victor's silence was loud and clear to Yuuri, who felt his stomach churn with a venoumous kind of anger he had never felt before.
"I'll make them pay."
And he meant it.]
Soon, Yuuri hopes, Victor would also talk to him about his time on the Squad (although a different one) that likely shaped the person he was today, but that he soon left. Yuuri came to know this from his first, real, researches on The Coreographer, head burrowed in some dusty, old documents he found on the Squad's Main Head Library. He always felt a bit guilty about that.
[Later, Victor will explain to him that, while it had indeed been a good time in his life, prolific for the shaping of his mind and his morals, the Squad, like any other organization, was not keen on butting heads with wealthy, well paying criminals. He learnt that the hard way. So he left, taking up the pieces of his heart that shattered when he understood that his life in the Squad had been a big, fancy, lie and that if he really wanted to do something he had to do it by himself, on the streets.]
To this day, Yuuri is still baffled that this wonderful person, this precious fighter chose him. Who was he, anyway, to deserve his love?
But he has stopped fighting against it and learnt to accept it as it is. To always love and protect Victor who, despite of his fucked up childhood and teenage years, has taught him to love and protect himself, too, for being exactly who he is. Him, too, an anxious, sweet, precious, fighter. Even when his mind makes him weak, he will rise again and fight for what is right. [Victor's words.]
But he has to believe them, after all, those were his vows on their wedding day.
So, one day when he has to change his costume and finally, finally he can desing it himself [that meaning that Victor can picture it exactly as he wants] he doesn't even flich when it turns out to be an exact copy of his husband's catsuit, a little less thight, with more pockets and also a belt and wow, a trasparent jacket too. He is in awe of the colour, a perfect shade of blue, similar to his husband's beautiful eyes. It is perfect. And it's his.
He wears it everyday.
His eyes are a little teary though, when he finds himself in front of his husband during work. They caught The Coreographer and his team stealing some important antiques from a house. A house that, mind you, was owned by a disgusting, oily little man who had too much money, and too less respect for his own good. He knew his Vitya's project and knew that those money were going to benefit an hospital of sick children in Malaysia. But still, robbing was against the law. That meant that Yuuri had to find a way to distract his team, again, to help his idiot of an husband escape with the money, again. The nerve of that man.
But when he saw him, all clad in his new pink costume that MATCHED YUURI'S, [a distant part of his mind reminded him that he, Yuuri, had chosen the colour as well, during one of the nights where Vitya was being all weird about colours and kept asking him for what was, in his opinion, the perfect match to blue] etheral hair flowing in the wind and beautiful heart-shaped smiled aimed just at him. And, oh, he was weeping at the sight of his beautiful husband that finally, finally smiled again and...
The weight of his Squad's stares was heavy on his shoulders and, oh boy, was this going to be a long one to explain.
As usual, REBLOG is fine, REPOST only with my permission :))
[love y'alls]

you have the ability to manipulate any type of plant as you wish. you can make them grow rapidly into any shape or size, shrink so you can carry some with you all the time, and use them in many different ways.
you can also manipulate wood and use it as a shield or even trap enemies inside of it. in addition you can eat any poisonous plant without harm and have the ability to produce larger amounts of its poison. you also have the power to heal others the same way if you eat a plant with healing properties.
your quirk can be used in many different ways as long as you have enough knowledge to go with it. your power levels also increase depending on the place you’re in (you will be more powerful in a place with good amounts of sunlight and water for example). you are stronger against some opponents but also weaker against other (like fire users). so you have to always keep in mind what tricks does your rival have and use them for your own benefit !

a/n : ok so since im pretty sure you would be a hero i wanted to give you a power that would go well with that. i hope you like it bestie !!

Can you do one where Lance is super smart and he gets fed up with the team acting like he's stupid, so be basically snaps at them?? I love your stories!! They're awesome!
Thanks so much! I hope you like it!
“Thank you for agreeing to meet with us Princess Allura,” Kolivan bowed to her. She gave him a small smile and a nod. They were gathered around the dining hall table with the Paladins and Alteans on one side and the Blade of Marmora on the other. Kolivan pulled up a stolen layout of a Galran base and placed it on the table.
“There is valuable information, regarding the locations of important members of the Blade and our allied rebel forces stored in this base’s hard-drive, it is imperative that we get our hands on it and away from the Empire,” Kolivan started. “We need to find a way in without being spotted, and complete the mission without alerting the Galra. We were able to infiltrate successfully some time ago, and have access to some of the surveillance feeds and schematics,”
Immediately the room was filled with the sound of ideas being thrown around; Lance quietly listened to the different scenarios coming from his teammates and stored them in the back of his mind quickly picking out the flaws and how he could secretly tweak them when they were out in the field. He realized that the others would reluctant to listen to his ideas because of how he had already presented himself to the group. So he decided to quietly help them in the background instead. He pulled up the information on his screen and scrolled through the information available. Without a word he began highlighting points on his map that would require extra surveillance once they entered the base. Unbeknownst to him; Kolivan was watching over his shoulder with interest and nodding along to each dot. After Lance stopped and absentmindedly nodded his head, Kolivan put his hand on his shoulder. Lance yelped and he shot around to look at the leader of the Blade.
“Apologizes Blue Paladin, I would like to hear your ideas for this infiltration,” he admitted giving Lance all his attention. Lance gave a tentative smile and opened his mouth, only to be interrupted by Hunk and Pidge’s laughter. His head turned to the two and he shrunk into himself a bit knowing that the two were laughing at him. Kolivan only looked with a raised brow.
“Sorry Kolivan, but you don’t want to ask Lance for ideas,” Pidge giggled. The two of them cracked up into laugher, eventually dragging the rest of them minus Lance, Kolivan, and Coran who were looking at them incredulously.
“I apologize, but perhaps I’m misunderstanding. Please explain why I should not consider the Blue Paladin’s suggestions,” Kolivan said stepping forward. The laughter stopped aside from a few sniggers and they looked toward him.
“Kolivan. Its Lance, Mr. Razzle Dazzle, get all the girls and glory,” Pidge said with finality. “His plans probably involve a lot of shooting and not getting anything done,”
“Yah, he has fighting power but when it comes to infiltration…” Hunk continued with a shrug. Lance could feel the blush traveling up his face, and his shoulders bunched up further as if to protect him.
“All his brain can store, are cheesy pickup up lines and weak insults,” Keith commented. The others burst out laughing again; Allura and Shiro only giving weak smiles. Kolivan looked down at the blue paladin and while he seemed shocked and saddened; he could see anger stirring in his eyes as well.
“Hey! I have more in my brain than that, I have good ideas!” He cried trying to defend himself.
“Really, a thousand times ten?” Keith asked with a smirk. Lance’s eyebrows drew down with an angry grimace.
“I was trying to break the tension,” he growled. His hands were clutching the armrests of his chair tightly, his knuckles turning white from the pressure. Shiro stood up from his chair and carefully approached the angered teen.
“Its okay Lance,” he said soothingly. “We all have our weaknesses, this is just yours,” he gave him a soft smile. Lance looked at him in pure disbelief; this man was the leader of their group and he was going to let Lance believe that he couldn’t contribute to the planning of this mission.
“My weakness?!” Lance growled. “You know what?! I’m done!” He yelled jumping out of his seat and pulling his screen along with him to the front of the room. The others looked at him with quirked eyebrows.
“What? Going to shows us the pretty dots on your map?” Keith taunted with a smirk.
“No, each of these dots is a mistake that you over looked,” he hissed. He pointed to the first one and pulled up the surveillance from the base’s server room. “This is a PXY-6075 system, you were going to go in blind with a code not appropriate for this system, it would shut down the entire thing and we would lose everything,” he swiped across his screen and sent a code to Pidge’s system. She pulled it up out of curiosity and her jaw dropped before she looked up at Lance.
“Lance, this is genius,” she muttered. He ignored her and went to the next beacon. A security camera showed a hallway were Shiro suggested they infiltrate on the way to the server room. He turned to the leader with crossed arms.
“This hallway is filled with blind spots and vents, how could you even think that this was a good place to enter?” Lance asked with a quirked brow. Shiro only crossed his arms in defense.
“It is the fastest way to the server room, we need to get in and out quickly,” he replied. Lance gave him a short glare.
“So because it is the fastest way to the server room, it is automatically the safest, you’re putting the safety of your teammate on the line in order to complete the mission faster?” he asked getting closer to Shiro who tried to avoid his eye. “What would have happened if we went down here and there were drones or weapons in the vents, we could have died in there,” he pulled the map back and brought up a different hallway. Shiro looked at it and back at Lance for an explanation.
“It’s a maintenance hallway, the other direction from where this one is, it is fully surveillanced with no blind spots and no places for anything to be hidden,” he said pushing the screen into Shiro’s who looked at it sheepishly. He zoomed out letting the outside of the base show. He turned to Allura who jumped at being in the teen’s sights.
“The defense of the base is different from the cruisers we come across Allura; if we had gone on the mission and used what we usually did we would have gotten caught and the entire mission would be compromised,” he stated bluntly. He brought up the schematics of the base and pointed along the foundation “This area is susceptible to fire, if I send out an electrical pulse along the base, it should collapse the barrier without any alerts to the Galra,” she carefully nodded it response watching the tiny barrier breaking down on her screen. Lance looked around at the ashamed paladin avoiding his gaze around him.
“Need I go on?” He asked quietly. He humphed when he only received sheepish nods. He turned to Shiro and pushed a finger into his chest.
“Next time when you say something about someone’s “weakness”, don’t. None of us are weak and you out of all of us should be the one to see that,” he said pushing him back. He turned to Keith.
“You shouldn’t be so insulting,” he said standing beside his chair. “I know that I haven’t shown you what I’m capable of but you don’t have to be so condescending,”
“You shouldn’t be so quick to judge,” he stated turning to focus on Pidge. “I try to come off as the carefree goofball because let’s face it, we’re fighting in a war and we’re a bunch of kids who probably shouldn’t be out here,” he turned to look at Hunk as well at this point. “You should know that I’m smarter than I act, you have known me the longest,”
“Lance,” Hunk tried but Lance only raised his hand between the two of them.
“Please let me finish,” he pleaded. “I wasn’t at the Garrison as a charity case or anything, and everyone here ignored that. I tried to do the best I could to keep the peace and keep the image of comic relief because it seemed to help you perform better,” he looked down at the ground trying to avoid the gazes of his teammates. His hands were shaking by his sides, the only visible sign of his anger through the entire rant until he started to feel a tremble in his lip and tears gathering in his eyes.
“Lance…” he heard Shiro hesitant voice call. His head shot up causing a tear to roll down his cheek as his eyebrows furrowed in anger.
“No! I don’t want to hear it!” he shouted shocking the other into silence. “You have been pulling this shit for too long, and you didn’t think anything of it! Well, it hurts! It hurts and no one cared enough about me to stop it!”
“Lance, we’re sorry,” Pidge said reaching out for the teen trying to put her hand on his arm. He slapped it away and started making his way to the door to leave. Before he left he put his hand on the doorway and looked back at Allura.
“Call me for the mission, I need to cool down for a bit,” he said quietly. Angry tears still streaked down his face, be he felt and looked resigned now. He turned and left, leaving the bridge in thick silence. It was broken by Kolivan making his way to the entrance to follow Lance to wherever he decided to hole up. Just like Lance, he looked at the others before he left.
“Perhaps next time, you should get to know your soldiers before you judge what they are capable of,”
