somewhere out there is an alternate timeline where toby was correct and people actually did hate spamton. could you imagine that. i have to imagine we wouldn't have gotten the spamton sweepstakes in that case which is crazy to think about given how much lore that gave us-

#song of the day #I'm at my grandfather's house now!#he's more than half deaf (partial hearing in only one ear) and the only thing more substantial than his record collection #is his sound system #CCR loud enough to feel in your bones. take a shower while the music plays and feel the water droplets vibrate as they fall. it's amazing #I missed the fuck out of this old man. had no idea the extent of it. I missed him so bad #old man with his La-Z-Boy perfectly molded to his body and his turntable collection and his novelty soda cozies and his model planes #it stormed like hell all day and none of us could hear each other speak over the wind and thunder and dogs howling and blessed CCR #so we've just been hanging out. played monopoly except again we couldn't hear so it was like monopoly + charades #sensory input through the /roof/ I forgot what it was like here. bliss for my brain #tomorrow if the weather stays calmed down I'm going to ask him what 'who'll stop the rain' is about #get those soothing background 'fuck vietnam' sounds going while I do my reports for work. missed this shouty old man like hell

got 2 flood alerts telling me to get to higher ground and 4 tornader alerts telling me to get in a basement so I'm just gonna even that out to ground level and watch the show

#I realize that taking a photo at the transition between pipe segments makes it look like I was outside the pipe-#so I would like to clarify for my honor that i WAS several bodylengths in at that time. <3 #there was also um - don't read on if you're easily horrified maybe #I didn't go to the manhole room this time because there was a small pile of raw flesh? organs? in front of it #I've learned that my hard limit is that i will not bellycrawl through viscera :|#i'm guessing a fox or something didn't finish a kill there..? no skin; unsure of bones (a light Something poking out);#just a glistening pink mass.#I saw it in the dark and shone my flashlight on it thinking it was a leaf. panicked when I realized what it was and reactively backed up #i ended up with one leg under my body and couldn't get it back out since the tunnel was too narrow so i was just stuck like that #chilled out in the tunnel for a few minutes playing HK. fought nkg. once i calmed down i wanted to approach the meat(?) again to investigate #but with my knee stuck under me i could barely move forward so i called it quits. now the curiosity has returned with a vengeance though.#there was a... mild odor of rotting flesh. i think the flies i saw in the tunnel were a bad omen.#but like! I don't know EXACTLY what i was looking at. it's driving me crazy now #(i went in because it started storming and i wanted to know what thunder sounded like from beneath a manhole. Safety<3!)#no thunder there was only the one before I entered :(#when I returned to indoor habitat i shook my head out over the sink before i showered in case anyone hitchhiked in my hair again -#There was a snail. An entire snail in my hair. small snail but. hello??#okay time for warnings gauntlet-->#real bugs #spiders #unsanitary #claustrophobia #<- MY HOBBIES....#*For my honor know that as usual i sanitized my body and clothing and belongings #i brought my cargo shorts into the shower to wash them since i just recently did laundry but i wanted to wear them again without Sewer Filth #and there was a caterpillar on them; the kind that camouflages as a twig; I think i picked it up in the forest on the way out.#I almost plucked it roughly or rinsed it off since i thought it was a twig but then i saw the baby legs. tossed both hitchhikers out window.#(onto grass. take care; friends.)#(my shorts can fit an entire flashlight in the pocket btw. buy men's pants.)

Warm Shower for Aches and Pains

Stranger Things: Steve Harrington

TW: nudity, nonsexual shower scene Steve winced as he nearly collapsed into the driver’s seat of his car, his entire body throbbing. At first he’d been grateful for the job at the quarry; it gave him enough money to actually start saving up for adult things, like retirement and insurance. The job was full time but with longer hours, so he had at least three or four days off a week.

This week he’d done an extra shift instead of his usual three and it was hell on his body. The knot that had taken home between his shoulder blades twinged in agreement. His back and arms and legs were sore from hauling concrete, and he had various cuts and calluses from handling heavy equipment and piping. And in the last hour of his shift, things picked up and he found himself nearly jogging to keep up with the other haulers.

He hurt all over.

He parked in the driveway when he got home and fumbled for his keys. He’d never been so happy to be home. The pain even radiated to his fingers as he flipped the key in the lock. He leaned heavily on the front door to push it open, using some of it to bear his weight. And it wasn’t just his body that was sore, the back of his ears burned from wearing the tight safety goggles and glasses. Steve dragged himself through the door way and then slipped off his work boots. They were clouded with dust and he caught sight of it as he toed off each of them.

In his work clothes and socks, Steve padded up the stairs to the bathroom. He hadn’t stopped thinking about the hot shower he was going to take all day. Just the mere thought of the hot water against his skin almost made him want to climb into the shower early. He’d done it before but figured the shivering wasn’t worth it.

The familiar tile welcomed him as he stepped in, and Steve turned on the shower. Steve made sure the knob was turned to the highest setting before gently pulling off his shirt. Lifting his arms felt like cruel and unusual punishment, and he could feel the way his back and torso stretched and twinged. Even muscles he didn’t know existed were somehow also in pain.

As he undressed, small pieces of gravel and rock fell from the fabric and popped comedically against the tile floor. He caught his reflection in the mirror and frowned. His hair was spotted with dust and debris, and there was a streak of sediment on the side of his neck.

So much for not taking work home with him.

Steve sat heavily on the toilet and took a minute to listen to the sound of the water. The rush of the water was soothing after a day of the jarring metal jabbing of the drills, and the roar of the truck engines. The white noise loosened something behind his ears and his head pulsed. For the first time, he realized that the pressure in his head was a headache. He sighed and winced, rubbing his forehead slowly.

Was he allowed to stay in bed all day tomorrow?

The thought was tempting.

Steam billowed from the shower and Steve could already feel his body starting to loosen. He pulled off the last of his clothes, letting them fall before stepping into the humid heaven.

The water beat harshly on Steve’s sore body, but after a few seconds, his muscles melted and he audibly groaned. He felt the throbbing soreness dissipate and he took a chance to carefully roll his shoulders and upper back. The water hit the back of his neck and he hummed in relief.

He stepped fully under the spray, letting the water run down from his head. Warmth seeped into his scalp and Steve felt his headache dissipate slightly. His wet hair stuck to his ears and covered his eyes, and he flicked it back to give it a rinse.

The steam engulfed him and Steve sighed. He was never going to leave this shower.

Hey y’all! There’s a tornado watch where I live and it’s my first time experiencing one and I hate it! We’re prepared in case it gets worse (emergency food and water and all necessary medications set up in the basement) but I Do Not Like This Please send me asks to distract me this tornado watch goes on for three more hours

#the thunder is so loud #tornado #tornado mention #there's no actual tornado I'm just under a tornado watch and like rationally I know the chances of a tornado are pretty low #I hate it! hate it so much this is why I like earthquakes #none of this anxiety of waiting #and you can build for them to mitigate the risk somewhat #(yes I know there's building things that can probably help with tornados let me be irrational here for a moment)#also I wanted to take a shower but lightning? and also anxiety makes my asthma worse #and since I had an asthma attack in the shower last weekend I am still on Safety Shower Mode #where I can't shower until my dad is A. within hearing distance of the shower and B. aware I am going to shower but he's at work #I mean he works at home but he works at home from a room not within hearing distance of the shower #(it was a pretty bad asthma attack and he used to be an EMT)#(I do also have other steps for Safety Shower Mode those are just the relevant ones at the moment)
