First Age 273, during Iavas.
The Ginglith had its wells in the Woods of Núath, below the Ered Wethrin in the north of West-Beleriand. After passing by the lands of Tumhalad it met the Narog - the largest tributary of great River Sirion. In F.A. 495, decades after the Nirnaeth Arnoediad - when Voronwë led Túor eastward to Gondolin, they passed through the Woods of Núath north of the wells of Ginglith. Through bitter winds during Rhîw, their journey took many weeks to accomplish.

i always really loved the scene in the fellowship where legolas realises mid-council that gollum having escaped is Really Bad, Actually, it's one of my favourite moments in the book. stoic movie legolas is fun but nothing beats an elven prince jumping up to confess his people's massive fuck-up to the smartest and best of middle earth

The race of Teleri lived on the lonely island of Tol Eressëa, on the eastern shore of Aman, until they were finally drawn to the light of Valinor. The Ainu spirit Ossë was their friend, who at the behest of Ulmo taught the Teleri the craft of building ships to cross the waters into Valinor. Ossë would miss the friendship of his Teleri companions however, and as a parting gift sent many swans to pull their ships across the bay to reach the shores of Aman. In return for this kindness, the Teleri would always build their magnificent ships in the likeness of Ossë's swans.

Here are my paintings for this year’s @tolkienrsb! The first one is my initial submission; the rest were extra paintings for my lovely author, TheChasm <333
I’ll be adding the promo post for the fic sometime soon, so I won’t mention what these paintings are about quite yet. I think y’all will be able to guess, in any case! XDD

First age 259.
Deep within the forested highlands of Dorthonion, a tall white peak rises high above the woods below; Orod-Foen. The winter before Glaurung the Father of Dragons emerges from the depths of Angband onto the plains of Ard-galen, pushing the then 200-year siege of the Noldor Elves back to Dorthonion and Ered Wethrin.

Finrod and Maglor compose the Noldolantë
An illustration of a scene from Voices That Were Once Ours created by the amazing @wombywoo. Fic snippet below the cut.
-
Perhaps it is that very realization of the briefness that dictates life in these lands. That joy must be snatched from fleeting moments before they float away like withered leaves down the Sirion.
At long last, his heart misgives him, and when Makalaurë’s invitation arrives to journey east, Finrod accepts.
He has not seen Maglor, as he is now known, since the feast of the Mereth Aderthad, and even that encounter lacked the intimacy of friendship. What little he knows has come from Angrod’s visits or Celegorm’s letters, almost all having to do with enemy movements or breeding horses from Maglor’s herds. All valuable knowledge for a King in times of siege, but not what Finrod wants to know.
What does the Lord of the Gap sing about these days? Are there songbirds in the flatlands to rest upon his finger?
From Voices That Were Once Ours
