Hi....If you don't mind, can I ask, what are your top 10 (or top 7) favorite media (can be books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series)? Why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before......Thanks....

Ooooof this is such a hard question!! Thank you for the ask, I love this kinda stuff!!

Without further ado, and in no particular order, here they are!

1. Any of MXTX’s content (I’m counting them as one because I love too many things ���): For me, these novels and adaptations were my first foray into danmei and Chinese media. I also discovered them at a time when I was questioning my identity and coming to terms with the fact I’m queer (which is…not really accepted in my family). I watched The Untamed first, then read fan translations of the novels before they started being officially translated, and I keep coming back to them because I find them so thought provoking. I like that none of the characters are presented as perfect people; they’re all flawed humans, but we love them anyway.

2. Sleuth of the Ming Dynasty: found family, Sherlock Holmes-like detective skills, spies, political machinations, food as a form of love? What more could I ask for! I just love this show. Haven’t gotten to read the novel it’s based on yet, but I’m hoping to soon!

3. Yuri on Ice: one of the first anime I ever watched, and it’s just so sweet and lovely. Definitely one of my comfort shows! Plus there are some crazy good fics. Still hoping one day we’ll get the movie!

4. Harry Potter: I struggle with this one a lot, because I very much dislike JKR’s transphobic rhetoric. But the fan spaces of Harry Potter provided me with support and escape I needed many times throughout my life, and for that the fandom of Harry Potter will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s been a part of my life nearly as long as I can remember.

5. Thousand Autumns: another one with some very morally grey characters! I love thinking about who and what is right and wrong, and this novel definitely makes you think about it. Lots of political world building as well, which I love.

6. My Cousin Vinny: a fantastic movie that I have many fond memories about. The jokes and digs about the south vs the north in the US always make me laugh, and as someone who has lived many years in both of those areas, those scenes make me giggle.

7. Haikyuu!: another one of my comfort shows! It’s just happy and fun and adorable. I love this one. I watched it sooooo many times during lockdown.

8. BBC Merlin: was morgana my bi awakening? I shan’t tell! Suchhh a good show, I miss it so much. Another fandom that has some incredibleeeee fanfics. Y’all writers are so talented.

9. Our Flag Means Death: I think this was maybe my first piece of media that explicitly included multiple queer characters but the entire storyline wasn’t only about the otherness and pain of being queer (or just a stereotyped role). This show made me feel seen in ways no other media had before. Plus, the show is gay pirates. It doesn’t get much better than that!

10. Avatar the Last Airbender: me and my siblings all loved this show, and we still watch it together often whenever we’re together. It’s so good. Zuko’s character development is still quite possibly the best redemption arc I’ve seen. I love it.

5; Sight, Firestar (Warrior Cats)

"Name five things you can see" Squirrelflight meowed to her father, Firestar looked up at her shakily

"You.." she nodded, he continued

"M-moss" he said in almost a whisper, looking down at the moss nest, ears pressed against his head. "Go on" Squirrelflight encouraged

"Leafpool..." Firestar looked over at his daughter as she padded into the medicine den

"Thyme...?" a hint of confusion crossed his face, not remembering why he was in the medicine den "Nearly there" his daughter meowed

"and..." he looked up through a gap in the den's ceiling "Starclan."

"Good. Now, four things you can touch" Isabella encouraged, kneeling above of the shaking boy and letting him feel around them

Phineas, on his back, looked to his right, and ran a hand through ferb's hair "Ferb.." he began, both children nodded

"th-the grass" he pulled at some of it between his fingers, and jumped a bit as something fluffy and square slotted itself under phineas' arm

Phineas laughed weakly "Perry.." he smiled a bit, running his other hand through perry's thick fur

"and..." he took a few shaky breaths, then paled as he touched something sticky on his head "my....my blood"

"Great. Three things you can hear." Dakota held the boy close, who shook in the man's arms, both went quiet to hear their surroundings

"My breath" the young boy answered, panting, his eyes glanced over to a tree

"The birds" he smiled slightly, Dakota nodded along, following where the boy looked

"and-" he laughed shakily, hearing angry honking and exclaiming "is that elliot?"

"Your doing so good," Sokka encouraged, holding Zuko by the shoulders lightly "Two things you can smell."

Zuko took a breath and leaned a bit closer to Sokka, putting a robe sleeve to his nose "Smoke..?"

Sokka pulled Zuko close to his chest, shielding him from the charred body being carried out the room behind them "Good, one more"

"And-" he breathed, taking in the scents of his palace office "Candles"

Useless facts about random characters I keep forgetting to add and get mad at because I think its great:

- All of the Detecitve League know what Homestuck is. They know the characters, they know how the world works, they know all of it and it's just funny because it's useless information but they all know what it is.

- Anna-Mei does the Shadow Clone Jutsu hand signs from Naruto when she clones herself. This doesn't really help her cloning at all, she just thinks its super fun to do.

- All the Yamisoka's are very much the "YOU HAVE TO WATCH THE SUB AND THEN YOU WATCH THE DUB" high maintenance anime needs. All of them. Every single one.

- Lexi hacks into whatever magazine publishing photos of her dad's website is and then she photoshops him to look like doctor Eggman. There is no reason for this really, she just hates her dad and finds it funny when they release the magazines and her dad is holding a chaos emerald. She also photoshops Superman to look like Sonic.

- Ashton watches ATLA and his favorite character is Sokka for boomerang reasons. He jokingly tells Nick that this makes him Zuko and Nick just stares at him.

- Jianyu rusts in water and if he doesn't clean his robotics and dry them off throughly, that honestly ends up with him rusting and he freezes and Nevaeh sighs as she goes to pick him up.

- Misha is still very much in love with Kathy and was heart broken when they broke up but he acted like he was alright but when he came back to the Yamishison Apartments, he was a MESS. Sadie comforted him, Minako played him her newest break up song album, Seiji and the others just kinda hugged him. Still likes going in her mirrors for brief moments to see her smiling.

- Felicia volunteers for a Big Sister program after Vinny goes back to live with their mom because she geniunely does miss being a big sister.

- Akira plays the ukulele for his family and likes to sing to them in Chamorou, I also like to think that he brings them to the islands and just drive around on a jeep and watch as Nina enjoys the son, Mayumi giggles at the wind, and Akashi sticks his head out the window and pants.

- Svetlana is a twitch streamer and has those cat headphones and half masks and stuff, because while her face is pretty, she knows the effects her blue eyes have on people.

- Valerie dramatically saying "Nevermore, nevermore" after she banishes a demon. Honestly, it might be her catchphrase but she really likes how it sounds as she stares at the pits of Hell and watches them close as they drag the person down.

- Bella and Benito do hang out a lot more than people suggest. They have matching indies, Beni's is a black bear onesie and hers is a pink blowfish one and it literally covers their feet and hands and its normal for Bane and Hana to see them sitting on the couch and watching TV.

...I mean, actually, it checks out. But I feel this was something Man Was Not Meant To Know.

(And yes, Dakota and Iroh would get along so great. I got distracted by Cavendish but you’re right, and they’d be the chillest pair. I don’t know if Dakota drinks tea but I’m sure he’d be happy to try it.)
