Controversial Post
Carmy used Claire.
An opinion I have yet to come across in the discourse regarding the dreaded Carmy/Claire pairing is the following--Carmy was fully content never calling/making Claire his girlfriend. Because he never had to do anything to get her to like him. She provided pussy, car rides, an ear to bounce ideas off of, no resistance or intellect, and no effort he had to put in.
Allow me to elaborate.
From their first interaction at the market to the moment in the walk-in, Claire has been a nuisance in his life. She consistently disregarded his boundaries in the following ways:
Ignoring the fact that he struggled to remember her name; there's also no mention of her last name to this day.
Misreading their initial conversation at said market and not reading his body language for what it was: a lack of interest in her. If a woman has to ask a man for his number and he doesn't ask for hers, he isn't interested in pursuing things further. Argue amongst yourselves about that.
Numbergate. In the real world, this would be extremely concerning. Skirting around someone's clear sign they don't like you by giving you a fake number is a huge red flag. It screams desperation and a lack of self-respect. Who chases a man that purposely obstructs their advances then goes to his good friend to extract information? Shame on Fak as well for giving out Carm's private information to a woman he hasn't mentioned in five years. wtf Fak.
When she does call him, she badgers him to get a clear answer as to why he gave her a fake number, instead of taking the hint when she realized it was fake. Once again not taking his hesitance while dictating the numbers to her as a sign he doesn't want her.
"Speaking of dead brothers, do you wanna go to a party?" wtf even was this. By Claire's own admission, she and Carmy never talked in their youth. She essentially hung around his family but never interacted with him so why is she so obsessed with him? I will never understand this. Her tasteless attempt at breaking the ice regarding Mikey's death is so heavy-handed and odd.
Freezergate. Even before she found out he was stuck in the walk-in, what was Claire's urgency to get to back-of-house? Why would she think it would ever be appropriate to just walk back there? Sugar's husband, Pete, has never done that in the show so what makes Claire think she's special enough to do so? I always wonder what might have happened had Sydney been back there when Claire crossed that boundary.
Now the juicy part. Unpacking Carmy's disinterest.
Ever notice that Carmy only ever asked her surface-level questions about her life? He never asked about her interests outside of work, her family, her passions, her last name, or anything else. The entire relationship is on Carmy's terms/timeline. Nothing we've seen on-screen indicates he's been to her apartment or hung out with her friends (aside from that one juvenile ass party in 2x05). Every time they have sex, it's at his place. The overwhelming majority of their conversations center around his needs/grievances about the restaurant. He never buys her flowers or gifts (cooking dinner one single time doesn't count), never has deep conversations with her about her, nor did he call her his girlfriend until Sydney, of all people, pressured him to do so. The subsequent conversation with Fak, "is Claire my girlfriend? What's a girlfriend?" is bullshit. Carmen has been around couples his whole life. He knows what a girlfriend is. He knows what a wife is. He's a 30+ year old man who surely had romantic interests before and after Claire. He just didn't want her to be his girlfriend until he felt immense pressure from his circle to make her that.
How do I know this? In 24 hours, Carmy went from "I love her a lot" (and this is only after Fak straight up asks him if he loves her) to "I like her". In the course of one day, he went from love to like. That says it all. Not to mention this is after the mother of all panic attacks where his hidden feelings for Syd bubble to the surface. A lot of people forget that Carmy is a man and because of this, he does what men tend to do. Whether he was conscious of it or not, he took advantage of a desperate girl like Claire because she threw herself at him with abandon. She willingly put herself in a position to be used by a man she barely knew, then cried to Richie when things didn't go her way. Their 'relationship' went the way it was always going to go because I'd argue she was never truly his girlfriend. Claire was a stopgap between the restaurant and Carmy running away from his problems.

listen here my dear sweet anon
first of all, there is no forewarning needed here that these are mostly from early LO, early LO is what I'm dying to recapture so you already struck gold and you can stop digging (or don't, because holy shit finding this in my inbox was like christmas for puff round 2)
second, i hope you're happy choosing this timeline where you're my new bestie because goddamn this is COMPREHENSIVE
and third (and most importantly) how in the flying FUCK did you know about some of these
like it's clear at this point rachel uses a lot of the kyle webster brushes, i kinda figured that out ages ago and it was just a matter of figuring out which ones she uses which you've done me the solid of putting together for me
but the ghibli background set?? the brushes that are exclusive to the newest episodes ??
either you've just become the champion of being the most hyperfixated on old LO orrrrr you know something we don't and there's a reason you're using the anon tag-

WOLFWALKERS - Concept Art and Color Script Worked with directors Tomm More and Ross Stewart as Scene Illustration Artist, Location Designer, Color Script Artist and Background Painter for their feature film "Wolfwalkers" from the 5 times Oscar's Academy nominated studio Cartoon Saloon. ------ Some years ago I packed my brushes and headed to the green rolling hills of Ireland to join an incredible team of people to work in this precious gem. At first I joined the Scene Illustration, o Concept team, where I helped define the look of the forest and design the locations inside of it, as well as help define the style, and traditional pencil and watercolor technique with the team lead by Tomm and Ross. Later in production I designed Sequence Colour Scripts and Key Colour Backgrounds to establish the look and the methodology for the Background Colour Team. Here you can see a selection of some of the concepts I developed. ------ ROBYN RUNNING - Inspired by the Dark Hedges from a trip to the north of Ireland, we were still trying to define the look of the forest, the graphic light and autumny colors while keeping the green wet feeling of Ireland. (which proved to be a challenge for all of us!) We were also exploring the characters in action and how to strike a graphic look moving in 3d space and this pose helped with that. I just loved drawing Robyn, inspired by the character poses of Sandra and the character team concepts. ------ WATERFALL. Helping define the look of the waterfall was one of my favourite things in the film. Working with Maria and Ross from a physical maquette Ross had built, we dove to define the looser, wilder and more organic section of the film, the Wolfwalkers waterfall den, where watercolors are at their rawest and washes of color blend. Was a very iterative process where I let the watercolor do what it wanted, blending colors and shapes in beautiful ways that I would later on use on the final image. In this concept I also explored the characters and proposed the final wolf look for Robyn which made it into the film, as before she had a slightly different look. The whole film was a greatly collaborative effort where we were all exploring and proposing ideas! ------ LOCATION DESIGN RAVINE - First sketches I did when I joined the Wolfwalkers concept team, or scene illustration. I set out to explore the forest as Robyn gets deeper into it. Her feelings and the scenery change and develop as we go further from the farmlands forest tamed by humans. I was trying to figure out how to make the forest feel older and more secret as you get deeper into it, as the areas untouched by humans were wilder, stronger and purer, with more and more ancient ruins from old wolfwalkers civilizations that had not been seen for centuries! ------ Some tree trunks and branches studies I did to define the lush and magical aspect of the ravine. Inspired by a plein air painting trip to Wistman’s Wood in Dartmoor ------ TRIPTYCH - At this time we were trying to find a graphic light to balance the very simple characters and BGs, with a very simple lighting on them, just enough to tell the story we needed in each shot. This image was conceived as a triptych illustration, established in a great storyboard panel by Iker Maidagan and Ariel Ries , with characters by Tomm More and some help from Ross Stewart. I often used small value studies like these to figure out the lighting structure to tell the story, in this case using the Hitchcock bar of light on them to have the girls “see without being seen”. I also did a concept close up to define the look of the magic ivy wall, exploring the FX look and progression and lighting. ------ LOCATION DESIGN - Nearing production we settled to make some specific location designs for the Ravine, the innermost secret den of the Wolfwalker people. We tried to find landmarks that we could repeat in different scenes to get a feel of the evolution of the story. Ludo Gavillet and I designed maps, did sketches and color roughs and had a blast dreaming camera possibilities to craft the otherworldly and mystical side of these people, inspired by the art of Andy Goldsworthy. (I discovered this artist with the best family name ever thanks to Ross during production, don't miss the documentary about his art and life!). ------ SEQUENCE COLOR SCRIPTS - Later in production, I helped out with some sequence color scripts to flesh out, from the rough color keys from Alice and Lily, the final approach the BGs will have in a specific sequence. ------ All artwork copyright by Cartoon Saloon & Melusine Productions.

Inktober 2022 No. 23: FIREYS . ”Hey, her head don’t come off!” . Or “The Fire Gang” or the “Chilly Downs”, depending on your persuasion. HOT TAKE: this is my least favorite scene in the entire movie. I think the song is tepid, and the puppetry FX are a little unrefined compared to the rest of the film. Plus - this might be the only point where Sarah is threatened with actual bodily harm? Anyway, Fireys. They look cool, at least! . This one was REALLY freestyle. A little reference, but a lot of fill-in. I think it kind of shows in places :( . LABYRINTH was released this month on Netflix US, in case you want to take your own walk back through the maze to the Goblin City. I recommend it. . 75 minutes, 7.5x11”, @drphmartins Black Star and Pen-White ink with a @speedball_calligraphy 107 nib and @pentelofamerica medium-point black pigment Color Brush on @strathmoreart 400-series watercolor paper. . ID. A digital art piece - colored with watercolor brush settings - of the character Primo Nizzuto (played by Luca Marinelli), from the show Trust FX. He is leaning back in his chair (not seen), and looking over at someone off screen with a smug look. He is wearing a black shirt with a black leather jacket in a 70s era style. END ID.
Underneath the cut is a collage of various close ups of the art

TRIAL OF OSIRIS (Work in Progress Shots) I intend to use these photos for the pages in my lore book I am writing for friends and fans of my work! From start to finish, I use a combination of pencil, pen, watercolor, gouache and graphite for this project. This was actually the first time I used a gradient wash... so the anxiety of ruining the piece was at an all time high with so much precise pen work being applied in the beginning stage. Lastly, I scan the image, and use Adobe After FX to create an animated version of it to turn into an NFT if I choose to do so!

From the tongue to the way his eyes briefly search her body, makes me think Carmy has had fantasies of making love to Syd while wearing nothing but their chef coats 😩. He’d probably take her on top of the expo table after hours, when they’re alone. 🔥

[ID. An edited graphic featuring the actor Luca Marinelli holding a microphone and wearing a shirt that reads: “Pen Paper Peace." Above the frame are the words “lmzine 2022 - charity zine” in gradient font, and to the right a gradient font that reads “update.” The background is blue hues of watercolor splashes, and a vector of blue torn paper. END ID.]
A week ago we opened up our discord server and had an opportunity to meet our fellow content creators and share the beginnings of our projects for the zine :)
As we start to welcome more potentials over the summer, we thought it might be a good idea to have a post we can share the link to in case anyone would like to know which characters have already been picked:
Tumblr media
Drawing
Cesare from Don't Be Bad
Fabio from They Call Me Jeeg
Primo from FX Trust
Martin from Martin Eden
Writing
Guido from Every Blessed Day (fic)
Nicky from The Old Guard (poetry)
Martin from Martin Eden (meta analysis)
Merch
Multicharacter Pin
Primo Art print
Multicharacter Stickers
One of our main goals is to offer a variety, which is why we had asked all those submitting applications to choose their top three characters since we are limiting a role (outside of merchandise) to two content creators. But we already have a few who are hoping to work on their second choices in addition to the list below - so you might potentially also see some:
Walter Dorian from Diabolik
Pietro from The Eight Mountains
Fabrizio from Fabrizio de André
Lui from Ricordi?
Gabrielle from Waves
And each character can be done twice ;)
But who's left? Plenty!
Mickey Miranda from A Dangerous Fortune
Roberta from The Last Man on Earth
Paolo from There Is A Light
Milton from Rainbow: A Private Affair
Loris from Up to the World
Ettore from Let Yourself Go and more!
So if you'd love to help create content for the zine going live in October, please feel free to reach out via our DMs as we'll be checking the blog weekly - and keep an eye out for more information coming in the next couple of weeks.

Best Lights for Parties
New Post has been published on https://lightsforparty.com/best-lights-for-parties
Best Lights for Parties
Party lights are the lifeblood of any celebrations at home—they set the mood, dictate the ambiance, and can turn a mundane gathering into a magical one. Choosing the best lights for parties is more than just an aesthetic decision; it’s about creating an unforgettable experience that leaves your guests in awe. Whether you’re aiming for a cozy, intimate gathering or a throbbing dance party, the right party room lighting can make a world of difference.
So, let’s dive into the world of party lighting, discover the best options for your next home gathering, and learn how to create that perfect ambiance that has everyone talking about your party long after it’s over.
Party Lights For Small Spaces
When choosing the best lights for parties, you should consider several types for small-sized home parties. Fairy Lights are ideal for creating an enchanting atmosphere, their soft glow adding a touch of whimsy to any space.
LED Strip Lights as house party lights offer versatility, their thin, flexible design making them perfect for wrapping around furniture or draping along walls for that party feel. If you’re after a more relaxing vibe, paper lanterns as party lighting are a phenomenal choice, their diffused light providing a warm, cozy ambiance.
Neon Black Light Glow Uv Birthday Party
Flameless candles offer a safe alternative to traditional candles, their flickering light creating a serene, intimate setting. Lastly, for a touch of fun, mini disco lights in room can transform your space into a mini dance club, reflecting bright, dazzling light around the room.
Party Lights For Large Spaces
When hosting a large-sized home party, house party lights play a crucial role in setting the right ambiance. The SUNY Laser Lighting stands out with its mesmerizing patterns and ability to sync with the music. For a versatile option, Novostella LED Flood Lights are color-adjustable and waterproof, making them perfect for outdoor settings.
Outdoor Party Lights Ideas
The Chauvet DJ Swarm Wash FX is a higher-end option, offering a 4-in-1 LED effect party light that combines an RGBAW rotating derby, RGB+UV wash, and a ring of white SMD strobes. For an affordable yet effective choice, U`King DJ lights for party provide a stunning visual effect with 60 combined patterns. Lastly, the Sound-activated Disco Ball Light is a classic party staple, creating a dynamic and vibrant environment.
DIY Party Lighting Ideas
For those who love to get creative, DIY party lighting can be the best lights for party. A simple and budget-friendly idea is to fill Mason Jars with fairy lights for a charming and warm glow. For an artistic touch, try painting the inside of old wine bottles in different colors, then insert a string light inside each bottle for colorful party room lighting.
Disco Ball Party Lights Dj Lighting
You can also make a stunning light wall by hanging LED string lights vertically against a plain wall, and then clip on photos or lightweight decorations. Lastly, consider transforming a simple white paper lantern with watercolor paints for a customized, artsy vibe. These DIY ideas not only provide functional party lighting but also serve as conversation starters for your guests.
Safety Tips For Party Lights
Warm Stringlights Star Balloons Disco Lights For Party
When installing house party lights, ensure that the lights are securely fastened and that cords are positioned where they won’t cause a tripping hazard. If using outdoor party lights, make certain they are weather-rated to avoid any electrical mishap. Always turn off and unplug lights when not in use, especially if left unsupervised for an extended period or overnight.
Be cautious about where you place your party lights; avoid placing them too close to flammable materials. Regularly check house party lights for any signs of damage or wear before use. By following these simple safety steps, you can create a fun and safe environment for your home parties.
Finally
To wrap things up, the best lights for party can make all the difference in setting the right mood for your at-home gatherings. Not only do party lights enhance the ambiance, but they can also turn your home into an enchanting party venue, whether you’re hosting a small intimate gathering or a large lively bash. From fairy lights to laser party lights or even your DIY creations, the possibilities are endless. So why wait? It’s time to experiment with these party lights for home , watch your spaces transform, and let your parties be the talk of the town. Remember, the secret ingredient to achieving that perfect party vibe lies in the glow of your chosen party lights. Happy party planning!
