Favorite Liar pt. II
“-Why wasn’t somebody with him?!” Commander Cody’s voice boomed throughout the medical wing, “Where was the medical droid?!” It wasn’t often that the commander lost his temper, but he’d come into Obi-Wan’s room, flowers in hand, and when he saw his Jedi on the floor- How long had he been there?! Why hadn’t someone found him sooner?! He’s a Jedi, he should be treated better than this- It wasn’t often the commander lost his cool, but when he found Obi-Wan barely holding onto his breath-
Part I here
─── ❖ ── ✦ ── ❖ ───
Cody had arrived at the temple, flowers hidden in his helmet that he held tightly beside him as he walked. He had rehearsed what he was going to say all morning. He was going to apologize, he was going to say he was sorry, he was going to tell Obi-Wan he loved him, that he never should have yelled, that he hadn’t seen Obi-Wan in so long and it sucked- Cody was coming to apologize, but he walked in and found Obi-Wan lying lifeless on the ground and Cody couldn’t breath. His breath had gone with Obi-Wan’s, his heart stopped as he felt desperately for a pulse.
Cody dropped to his knees, pulling Obi-Wan close, “No, I just got you back, no, no,” He muttered as he felt for a pulse instead of for his breath, ‘Sometimes, when you’re sleeping, I have to check your pulse because your breath is so slow-’ Cody shook his head at the memory, his heart was slow, but Obi-Wan was still alive. He flickered with relief and his heart got the better of him, Cody pressed a kiss to Obi-Wan’s cold cheek, “My love, be okay, please be okay,” He whispered, giving Obi-Wan another kiss before picking him up and setting him in the bed. Cody looked down at him once more, moving a strand of hair out of Obi-Wan’s face, Cody lingered there a moment, even bruised and swollen, Obi-Wan was more beautiful than the life a star provides. All the gentleness of Cody’s love washed away as he turned around, rage came crashing down, “Who was watching General Kenobi?” He boomed thunderous, voice dark and dangerous, ready to kill.
Medic droids came filing in, surrounding Obi-Wan. Immense exhaustion was all Cody was drawing out of them, it was as if they seemed reluctant to tell Cody anything, he fantasized about pulling his blaster out, he meant business. He was going to fight for his love, and they were going to corporate. Cody knew his duty as a soldier was to com another Jedi- Anakin, but Cody wasn’t ready to hide all his emotion away, he wasn’t ready for Skywalker to come in and take over care, Obi-Wan was his, and Cody would take care of him until his dying breath. “-His wounds will heal with time, he just needs rest-” The droid rambled on, something about a bacta tank, about an NG tube, something about giving him time. Cody nodded, his anger had subsided and as the droids left, his love came running back.
He came back into the room and closed the door, walking over to the bed, smiling upon the sight of Obi-Wan, giving Cody his best smile. “You sure know how to make me worry,” Cody spoke quietly, he wanted to run into Obi-Wan’s arm and shower him in kisses until he couldn’t breath.
“Yes,” Obi-Wan resigned, scared of a fight, “I was trying to make it to the chair, I was certain I would make it…” Obi-Wan’s voice trailed off, it hurt to speak, he didn’t want to. He wanted Cody, he wanted to tell Cody that he was sorry, that he never should have done it; Obi-Wan had rehearsed it in his mind a thousand times, he was going to apologize, he was going to tell Cody that he loved him, that he had been such a fool. He was going to apologize but as Cody leaned in for a kiss, all his worries flickered away, he pulled Cody into a hug, “I’ve barely seen you,” Obi-Wan whispered, “I miss you.”
Cody held him tightly, hiding his face in the side of Obi-Wan’s neck, so sweet was his love, his love, no one else’s, Obi-Wan was his and he’d been a fool to push him away. “I came back, Obi, I was coming here to you, I was coming home-” Cody rambled, “Obi, I was coming home to you-” Cody had felt a grief far greater than the word when he heard Obi-Wan had died and he hadn’t the chance to fight for him, that he hadn’t had a chance to trade his life for his, but it had been a lie, the worst lie, but Obi-Wan was back and Cody couldn’t stay angry, for he loved Obi-Wan too much. A liar he may be, but Cody’s favorite liar he was.
“-Anakin must be coming soon,” Obi-Wan spoke, Cody knew how much pain it must cost for Obi-Wan to speak. Cody pulled back, sneaking one last kiss as he stood straight, falling back into rank, Commander; General.
“Yes, I had the droids notify the council of your incident, I am certain they told General Skywalker.” Cody confirmed. He had held onto his worry long enough, now he had to give into duty. “As soon as the droids were wrapping up, I had ‘em notify them.” Cody added as Obi-Wan nodded, closing his eyes as he sensed Anakin’s and Ahsoka’s movement throughout the temple. The two might’ve talked about frivolous things as they waited for the two to arrive. Neither one would risk getting too close. For as soon as Obi-Wan entertained the idea of embracing his love, he remembered their duty, their oath, and he was duty-bound. But when he looked at Cody, his life was his, why couldn’t he hold him whenever he wanted?
“-Master!” Anakin came running towards him, Ahsoka closely following. Ahsoka climbed onto the bed, giving Obi-Wan a hug, “We had no idea, I’m so sorry, had we known-” Anakin gritted his teeth, why did his anger have to ruin everything? Why couldn’t he just be better? “I’m sorry, Master, I was so angry, I should’ve been understanding,” Anakin held his arms open for a hug.
Obi-Wan smiled as he held the two of them, “Anakin, Ahsoka, I am sorry, I cannot find words to express how sorry I am for hurting the two of you.” He spoke softly, terrified to say the wrong thing. Ahsoka shook her head as she held him tighter. They just got him back, Anakin just started to smile again, he just started to joke again. They couldn’t lose Obi-Wan again.
“I don't care about that anymore-" Ahsoka cried as she hugged Obi-Wan tightly. Even when angry at Obi-Wan, Ahsoka and Anakin only ever missed him, their anger fell to exhaustion the moment they saw him. Obi-Wan held his two padawans tightly, he'd missed them so much.
They laughed and joked to pass the time, Cody had passed by them to wait in the hall. He had to deliver a private message to General Kenobi when he discovered him on the floor, yes, no need to clarify beyond that.
Anakin heard Cody shuffle, he'd turned to look. Anakin wouldn't have thought anything of it, Cody probably had a message he needed to deliver to Obi-Wan, yes, that was why he was at the temple. Anakin wouldn't have thought anything of Cody's lingering, up until Anakin scanned the room, that is. For he'd found something curious. His stare lingered, the commander’s helmet on the ground, white lilies tucked inside. Anakin turned, he’d had enough of all this deception surrounding Obi-Wan. “Commander,” Anakin’s voice boomed thunderous, Cody's head turned as he stiffened to attention. Anakin tilted his head ever slightly, a deep, crimson darkness shining in his eyes, a clever grin on his face and malice in his tone,
"Why were you here?"

giggling at the image of rex having to cover for cody and obi-wan whenever their brothers came by, like he did with anakin and padmé. Because it would be so much funnier. For instance, maybe the wolfpack is w them, and codywan is poorly hiding in a utility closet making out bc they haven't seen each other for weeks, and rex is outside, wringing his hands and whistling, trying his best to look inconspicuous as possible, oh look at this nice closed door it's very sealed tightly wow! And Wolffe, all but pushes him out of the way just to open the door and see obi-wan and cody having their afternoon tea, with a whole fucking table. Obi-Wan grins innocently, says something like, "care to join us, commander?" While cody is maintaining his strictly professional Marshal Commander™️ face, but what he's actually thinking is how close he is to spitting his tea trying not to laugh. And all of these close calls keep happening but they're never caught bc obi-wan detects their force signatures 100 feet away and he ups his game every time. Poor rex is on little brother duty and gets the brunt of it

Obi wan is a a poor guy who falls for strong, fiery people like Satine and Cody.
Satine is his first love, his "first marriage". Satine, being strong and dutiful but at the same time a bit more romantic, unlocked emotionally repressed and anxious Obi wan.He never got over her death. He not only loved her, but respected her as a person a great deal. His love for her had the warmth and the passion of youth as well.
Cody, in my scenario, is his "second marriage". It's a long lasting relationship, unlike the first one, that matures with age and time. Cody may not be a sweet talker, flirty or gift giving, but he gives Obi wan exactly what he needs other than love: a loyal partner, who is also brother in arms, stability, practicality, a shoulder to cry on, patience ( keep in mind that Obi wan has been dealing with post traumatic stress disorder since the events on Mustafar ), loyalty ( even when he wrongs Obi wan, he always comes back ).
Obi wan would canonically give up the order for his first love Satine, prefer dying to finding out Anakin turned dark.
His lightsaber, his *life*. The" life" he thought of turning to the dark side when Satine died ( his vision of killing everyone involved in it ), the one which got literally buried along with Anakin's one ( their lightsabers ).
But with Cody, he could live. Cody first knew him as what Obi wan always has been: a Jedi. And he not only not wished him to be something else ( like Anakin often did ) but it was actually possible for them to be life partners ( unlike Satine who died ), exactly as they were.
For Obi wan is always forgiving ( Cody's betrayed him, not wholeheartedly but still ) and Cody is a practical man that can make a guy like Obi wan feel safe, calm and happy.
And Cody never doubts him. Only one day he felt low, when something happened and he got reminded that Obi wans love for Satine and Anakin ( different types of love actually) was unmatched. That night he wondered what it would be like if Obi wan loved him at least close enough. Till Obi wan came back and announced to him something like, he would stay at this said awful place permanently if needed because Cody had duties there.
Cody's heart warmed up enough to never ever question Obi wans love again.

Shadow and Mirror
Read on AO3, written for this prompt
Cody has a new crush.
Well, a “crush” implies something much more childish than the point he’s reached in his life.
Cody has… felt a connection and really hit it off with someone he finds reasonably attractive.
His brothers are being less than supportive.
“He is my Jedi and one of my best friends,” Rex says, “but I just… for both your sakes, life will be so much easier if you don’t go for it.”
Cody is unfazed. “You do remember he was my Jedi Commander before he got promoted and took you with him, right? I know what he’s like, and I’m into it.”
Rex makes a face. “Uh, all due respect, Cody—”
Oh, this bitch.
“—but he’s changed in some pretty big ways since he split from Kenobi.”
“So’ve I.”
This earns him an eyeroll. “Yes, yes, you’ve discovered your romantic charisma and started charming the pants off of any sentient you encounter on leave. You do realize that’s part of the problem?”
“That I have game?”
“Skywalker doesn’t do casual,” Rex insists. “Open, maybe, if you talk about it, but he doesn’t do casual.”
After a moment of consideration, Cody shrugs. “I can work with that.”
“Can you?” Rex challenges. “Can you really deal with the full force of Anakin’s attention? With him losing his entire mind if you get hurt, and calling you up at three in the morning to chat, and promising you the galaxy in a bunch of flowery words that should be hyperbole, but really, really worryingly sounds literal and sincere?”
“…did you try dating him?”
“No, but I was there basically every time he hung with Amidala, and that shit continued past the point where he gave up on romantic seduction and settled into friendship,” Rex says, more of a grumpy complaint than anything, “and she’s just as weird as he is when it comes to all that, so it’s no skin off her back to match his energy, but you are not on their level.”
“Rude.”
“I’m just saying,” Rex grits out from between clenched teeth, “that you like to have fun, and Anakin likes to dedicate every morsel of crazy knocking around his brain to whichever poor soul ended up in his affections.”
“I feel like insulting your CO that much is grounds for a court martial.”
“Echo told him, to his face, that he occasionally seemed crazy as a bag of tooka kits and about as hinged as a sliding door. General Skywalker took a second to process, and then laughed. He doesn’t care, not if it’s from a friend.”
Cody hums. “Which you are.”
“Yes.”
“Enough to warn me away before I break his heart?” Cody asks. Rex looks away, and Cody can only chuckle. “You’re not that subtle, Rex.”
“I’m trying to make sure you do what’s best for both of you,” Rex insists, glancing at Cody for only a moment before breaking eye contact again, “so Anakin doesn’t get disappointed, and so you’re not walking in blind when it comes to him being… the most.”
Cody snorts. “I can handle Skywalker, Rex. I may not be a Jedi or a Senator, but I can handle one brat with a smart mouth, a bad attitude, and a couple of super-powers.”
Rex grimaces. “I mean… it’s not really… that simple. The Force stuff, I mean.”
There’s something a little odd to Rex’s voice with that one, more than just the weird pauses. Cody doesn’t dismiss it quite as easily as he might have. Instead, he carefully asks, “the whole ‘Chosen’ thing some of the Shinies were gossiping about? Kenobi said it was an old superstition more than anything, a metaphor taken too literally, and that even the Jedi argue about it.”
“When?”
Cody’s expression must speak for him, because Rex clarifies without prompting.
“When did Kenobi say that?”
Cody looks past him at the wall, frowning as he thinks. Rex waits, and doesn’t take it too personally; they know each other too well for that. Finally, Cody shrugs. “A couple months in. Skywalker was still a Jedi Commander with the 212th.”
“So, before Mortis.”
Oh, for fuck’s sake. “This has to do with that shitshow?”
Rex looks uncomfortable. “You… aren’t 501st.”
“Yeah, and?”
“Well… Kenobi didn’t get possessed. Or channel a god. He just used an extra weird lightsaber for a bit.”
Cody gives it a few moments, and then finally says, “Rex.”
His brother continues to look uncomfortable.
“What did that place do to Skywalker and Tano?”

The last part of the loud au is so good. I can't wait for the next part... Like went order 66 to the whole army? Or was it just Cody as a last laugh by Palps; or Obi-Wan gets killed by his favorite clone, or he, or someone else, kills Cody to stop him, which will probably kill Obi-Wan with grief, maybe guilt...
Anyway love the story so far! ❤️
I am incredibly late!
Thank you!! 💜💜💜
Only Cody got an Order. Not 66. His order is to capture the Jedi Shadow causing Sheev the grief and bringing him to Palps so he can personally take care of him.
In this verse, Obi-Wan is only somewhat on Palp’s radar. He’s not Anakin’s Master but a friend.
Anakin, due to witnessing what happens when a shadow identity is revealed, manages to keep that one secret.
So for Palp’s there’s a Shadow that knows too much too early.
Poor Cody will wake with the mother on all migraines once the chip is put. In his altered state he certainly didn’t pull his punches while Obi-Wan very much did but still did some damage.

Ok, I know that I already reblogged @antianakin's post about why Anakin didn't need to murder an entire Tusken village because 2-3 of them killed his mom (original post here), but I just feel the need to talk about one of the most damning examples of why Anakin has no excuse for that response.
Post Order 66 Jedi/Clone interactions.
Let's just say, for the sake of the argument, that the entirety of the Tusken village--including the literal babies and children--all took part in the torture/murder of Shimi Skywalker. No exceptions.
Anakin's response to his mother's death is to murder everyone with no remorse or a second thought. Even when he confesses what he did to Padme, the RotS novel clearly shows that he doesn't actually feel bad about what he did. Most of his worry is about what others will think of him and, ironically, about how he's a "good Jedi" that should be better than this.
Now let's move on...
Every clone took part in Order 66 in some way.*
The clones murdered every single Jedi they could in cold blood (albeit without a choice), including the children, with only a miniscule few survivors. How many do we canonically have right now that didn't get captured and become Inquisitors? Obi-Wan, Quinlan, Cal, Caleb/Kanan, and Gungi are all I can think of at the moment.** That's 5 Jedi, out of thousands, that survived--and that's not even mentioning the destruction of their places of worship/cultural artifacts and the shitty propaganda spread about their culture.
* I'm not including the Bad Batch because, my own opinions about the show/characters/writing/etc. aside, we can all agree that the only reason their chips didn't activate was because they're Filoni's beloved OCs and he has a habit of trying to make his OCs "special" in some way.
** I'm not including Ahsoka in this because, like she says repeatedly as of Season 7 of TCW onward, she isn't a Jedi and doesn't see herself as such--and for the same reason I'm not including Grogu, since he's like...a Mandalorian apprentice now and not technically a Jedi. I'm also not including Luminara because she eventually gets captured and killed pretty early on and I'm trying to only include Jedi that are alive for a significant amount of time in the Imperial Era.
So, how do the Jedi treat the clones after they murder their entire family and destroy their culture? Let's look!
-----
Example One:
Obi-Wan Kenobi never learns about the inhibitor chips, as of current canon. He is 100% under the impression that Cody and the 212th (as well as all of the other clones) just up and betrayed him and the Order for no reason. He also watched the security tapes that, yes, showed Anakin killing children, but also would have shown the clones killing Jedi as well.
In the Kenobi show he runs into a clone veteran of the 501st--a veteran who, in all likelihood, probably stormed the Temple and was a part of its destruction.
Does he spit in the clone's face? Call him a murderer? Kill or harm him in any way?
Nope!
He gives the veteran some of his credits, even though it's made a point in the show that Obi-Wan is now working with limited funds and is very poor at this point in time. He doesn't have credits to spare and he is supposed to be looking for Leia, but he takes a moment to give some to someone who took part in the genocide of his people.
He also routinely thinks about Cody and the 212th in the comics! He remembers them fondly and still connects Cody to the feeling of hope, even though they tried to kill him! Even though he has no idea that they never wanted to!
-----
Example Two:
Kanan Jarrus/Caleb Dume knows about the inhibitor chips, but in Rebels it's made very clear that he thinks that it's just something the clones made up so that they didn't have to take responsibility for their actions.
In Rebels, Ahsoka makes the (objectively bad) decision to send Kanan out to find her "old friends" to help the rebellion.*** Kanan then finds out that her "old friends" are three clones, only after he gets there and sees them. He reacts in a panic and ignites his saber, clearly freaking out a bit.
*** I'll probably expand on this later, because I have a lot of opinions on this particular decision of hers, but anyway-
Does he try to hurt and/or kill them? Do they have to fight him off? Does he even lunge in their direction or deflect Wolffe's blaster bolt at him?
Again, nope!
He steps in front of Ezra in a defensive position and, when shot at by Wolffe, deflects the bolt into their ship. Then, when Ezra steps in and says that Ahsoka said to trust them, Kanan de-ignites his saber and they all have a conversation about them helping in the rebellion--even though Kanan clearly doesn't trust them at all and is dealing with his PTSD while being there. Eventually he even comes to get along with/trust Rex, albeit in later episodes.
-----
Example Three:
Gungi, in the Bad Batch, meets up with the Batch and immediately recognizes them as clones. Now, we don't know his opinion on them and their betrayal because it's never really expressed, but it's safe to assume that he has no idea about the chips (at least, until Tech tells him) and it's clear that he's very scared at that point in time.
What does he do?
He hides in the corner of the ship and is wary about the food they offer to him.
That's literally it.
And then later in the episode he works together with TBB and trusts them enough to let them help defend his village.
-----
So, even with most of the Jedi either having no idea about the chips or likely doubting that story, we're shown over and over again that the Jedi never seek revenge against the clones or try to kill them after Order 66. Even though their lives were ruined by what the clones did/took part in, they're never shown to be actively trying to cause them harm.
So there is literally no way you could possibly justify Anakin killing an entire village of Tuskens because of his mother's death, when--in arguably the same/a worse situation--the Jedi are actively shown not doing that.

We Want That one
This is a Satine/Cody/Obi Wan of a flavor that I have not seen before and hope to see more of. It takes a bit there but I think it will be worth the wait.
At the end of the mission to Mandalore, Obi Wan decides to stay with Satine and leave the Jedi Order. Now it is important to note this is done with Qui Gon’s full and loving support.  In this one Qui Gon is not a raging asshole with many issues and trauma (Melida/Daan happened and after it did both Qui Gon and Obi Wan were required to go to therapy-both separately and together- before they were allowed to go on mission together again). Also it is important to note that in this one ‘Will of the Force’ is not an excuse Qui gon uses to do whatever the hell he wants. The Force does actually have OPINIONS that it will share with specific Jedi (There is no tie to power, abilities, position, or previous messages for who will get a specific message. There is a tie, though not complete because the Force has other measures that mortals cannot comprehend, between who is making the decision the Force has an opinion on and which Jedi gets the message).  The Force did let both Obi Wans and Qui Gon know that it fully supported Obi Wan leaving the Jedi to be with Satine.
So Obi Wan returns to the temple to formally leave the Order, get comm codes for people he wants to stay in touch with, and his remaining things from his room.  He is allowed to keep his lightsaber and encouraged to keep his login to the Temple Archives so he could keep learning.  Six months after he returns to Mandalore, he and Satine marry with his Jedi friends and family in attendance. A year after that their son Korkie is born. He and Satine take up the mantle of Duke and Duchess and balance each other well.  Though Satine remains a pacifist, she does not begrudge her husband not being one and the addition of Obi Wan lessens the power of some of her more odious advisers. At some point within the first few years Death Watch attacks and through a series of strange and unfortunate (for Death Watch) both Satine and Obi Wan simultaneously defeat Pre Vizsla and win the Darksaber. They both take on the title of Mandalore jointly and unite the clans. The stabilization of Mandalore goes largely unnoticed by the republic (Including Sidiuous and Plagieus, they both just kind of assumed that everything was going as planned)
Now we come to the Naboo mission, a few years down the line. There is little change to the start, save for the places where we are missing Obi Wan. Qui Gon still ends up, with Padme, on Tatooine and helps free Anakin. The High Council is still leery of Anakin and accepting him. Qui Gon is still adamant that this child must be trained. Padme is still tricked into calling for a vote of no confidence. There does come a change when Qui Gon meets up with Padme again as they conspire to return to Naboo. Qui Gon gets an idea and puts in a call to someone he is sure Padme should talk to immediately. When the call connects, greet the pair on the other end as Duke and Duchess Mand’alor.  The man, Obi Wan, sighs deeply and turns to Padme, and in the driest tone she had ever heard goes, ‘I apologize for Qui Gon. He thinks he’s funny and no one has ever been able to disabuse him of that notion. We can be either called Mand’alor, or duke/duchess, you do not need to call us both’.
Qui Gon explains what is going on with Naboo and Satine immediately goes to Padme, ‘Oh, you poor thing, we will get you some humanitarian aid immediately, right dear?’  to which Obi Wan agrees.
Something about the way Qui Gon is now looking amused and mischievous and the way that Satine had said that left Padme, for all that she was a bit on the naive side when it came to galaxy politics (As evidenced by the fact that she did not realize slavery did exist until she faced it directly and that she did really believe that doing what was right drove the Galactic senate), with the belief that there was something more going.
They leave Coruscant and are met, just before reaching Naboo’s system, by a ship full of Mandalorians led by Obi Wan.  He apologizes that Satine could not be there as well, but they tried not to be off planet at the same time, just in case, and Obi Wan was better for this.
Also as soon as Obi Wan saw Anakin, he felt the immediate and nearly irresistible urge to adopt him (Both the Manda AND the Force had opinions here), only the knowledge that he did not know whose child it was and the fact that Satine would kill him for adopting without her stopped him.  Obi Wan did take a moment to ask Qui Gon why there was a small child going into a warzone.
Eventually they got down to business. Obi Wan explained that, since Mandalore was not part of the Republic, they could not send an army to help with the Trade Federation’s illegal block (particularly since, officially, no one knew about it).  However, if their old friend Qui Gon (Qui Gon good naturedly protested the ‘Old’. In the same dry tone as earlier, Obi Wan said that they all knew that Qui Gon had been there at the start of the Republic (i.e 25,000 years old), there was no need to lie. Then Obi Wan winked at Anakin, making the boy giggle) happened to mention that Naboo was experiencing a crisis and Mandalore chose to send humanitarian aid, well that was not declaring war on a Republic entity. Of course they would also have to send a security force with their aid workers (Never mind that each aid worker is also a commando) there might be pirates or other dangers along the way.
Blockaded though Naboo may be, the blockade was not meant to hold up to a platoon of Mandalorians (sorry a group of Mandalorian aid workers with their security escort). They get to the surface, though liberation would take more firepower than they had immediate access to (particularly since they people were dying, thus a time crunch) so Padme negotiates with the Gungans to take back their planet. By the way, as soon as the Mandalorians and the Gungan warrior meet they get along like a house on fire (to the concern of more than a few politicians later). Our core group heads to the Theed palace to end things, while the Mandalorians and the Gungan begin the liberation of the camps (Made easier by the fact that the Naboo had not just been waiting to be rescued, many had been working from within the camps to make things as difficult for their occupiers as possible. At least two of the camps, upon hearing that liberation was incoming, promptly rushed their guards and were in the process of tearing the droids apart when the Gungan/Mando liberation team arrived. It may or may not have done more for Gungan/Naboo relations than anything Padme did).
Obi Wan does go with Qui Gon to battle the Sith. He goes armored, made specifically so that he can fight like a Jedi in it. He also goes armed with the Darksaber and a slugthrower (Obi Wan did indeed bring a gun to a lightsaber fight). While there is a little fighting, long before they reach the power reactor, Obi Wan drops back far enough that he is able to shoot Maul in the knee and they capture the Sith.  Anakin does end up taking out the shield generator (though the ship he ‘accidentally’ acquired was from the Mandalorian ship- where he had been told to stay for the battle; most of the mandos were a little alarmed at the 9 year old in the space battle but making heart eyes at the fact that the was able to hotwire one of their ships to do it).
After the battle Obi Wan calls his wife and introduces her to Anakin, Satine promptly asks ‘when are you bringing our new son home so we can say the adoption vow?’.
The High council arrive, more willing to admit Anakin (though still reluctant) to find that it is a moot point because Anakin, with Qui Gon blessing (as the Force only said that Anakin needed to be Jedi trained, Obi Wan can do that) was going to be adopted by Obi wan and Satine. Everyone is in agreement that this is actually the best solution (I want it clear that this is not a slight against the Jedi Order, their rules and restrictions are there for a reason and they would have taken Anakin in, but they could all sense that he was ambivalent about it). Everyone parts ways, with a light reminder to Obi Wan Jocasta Nu is waiting semi impatiently to read his most recent paper comparing Jedi historical Force traditions and Mandalorian historical Manda sects (The Manda and the Force both are and are not the same thing).
As soon as Anakin is adopted, Mandalore has an excuse to go after the Hutts (Frankly some of the more aggressive Mandos were getting restless). Due to the way Mandalorian adoption works, adopting a child effectively adds all of childs relatives (that the kid wants to claim) as the adopters relative as well (essentially adopting Anakin makes Shmi family). Family trees get very complicated on Mandalore very quickly (also all new ways to define relationships).
There are some changes we should acknowledge before going any further. Obviously Anakin growing up as the oldest son of the leaders of Mandalore has some difference (Korkie-Then aged 5- was ecstatic, he had specifically been asking for an older brother for two years), for all that Obi Wan is also training him in the ways of the force and the Manda. Also Shimi is living with them now.
There are some political ramifications that come from what could, in the loosest sense, be the Mandalorian invasion of Naboo (as some politicians privately call it) and the fact that the Gungan cities become a prime vacation spot for Mandalorian warriors. It never really goes anywhere, since doing so would mean acknowledging that the Trade Federation also invaded Naboo.
Padme wanted Naboo to cut ties with the Republic, she was fairly disgusted with the interaction with the senate which was highlighted by how differently the interaction with Mandalor went. This was never going to be allowed to happen (Palpatine’s status as Chancellor depends on Naboo being part of the Republic). This combined with Palpatine's (and other politicians) reactions to the Mandalorians that saved her planet, the continuing mistreatment of the Gungans by some (but much less) Naboo humans, and an unfortunate accident that left Padme as one of the sole survivors of her family mean that Padme does not become a senator. Instead when her term is up she, many of her handmaidens, and the other survivors of her family all move to Mandalore where they maintain a close relationship with the ruling family.
Padme and Anakin start dating when Anakin is 20. Their relationship is very much different than it was in Canon. For one, they had been friends for years before getting together. They were also not each other’s firsts (both having had romantic/sexual relationships with others prior to getting together). They are also not trying to squeeze too much into too little time as they try to hide from their friends and family, or justify to themselves their quick marriage. Frankly the lack of a war or a secret massacre putting strain on their relationship also helped.
Satine, Obi Wan, and Shmi never put any restrictions on how long they should be together before getting married, nor could they but it is important that they did not even try. They did highly recommend that, before any action that could be legally binding or have long lasting consequences (like kids) that the pair take at least one trip to the outer rim in a two person ship (the equivalent of taking a road trip together).
Anakin and Padme get married when Anakin is 22.
The Clone Wars break out a year later, in much the same way as Canon though obviously with different people in place of Obi Wan, Anakin, and Padme (Everything about the Clone Wars and the Clones is pushed back by four years. The setback is mostly because Maul was captured instead of bisected. Palpatine needed to be more careful for the first few years to make sure his cover was not blown). Though Count Dooku is the leader of the Separatists, he is never revealed to be a Sith.
Mandalore remains largely neutral, though they register an official complaint (that absolutely everyone involved knew would go nowhere) that Jango Fett’s, a Mandalorian, progeny were being effectively enslaved in the GAR. The Republic is able to produce paperwork signed by the late Jango Fett where Fett relinquishes any claim to any clones created using his DNA with the exception of a single unaltered clone (Boba), thus denying the clones automatic Mandalorian citizenship.  Privately Obi Wan contacts the Jedi and tells them that any GAR Clone that wishes to not be fighting for the republic will be welcome on Mandalore, where they can get assistance setting up and where being armored (and thus hiding the most recognizable face in the galaxy) would be perfectly acceptable.  The Jedi do find a way to start funneling clones that want to desert toward Mandalore. Oddly enough it actually decreases the amount of clones that want to leave, there was something about just having the option that made the clones feel like they could stay to protect people, instead of being effectively enslaved to the Republic (and it is indisputably true that innocents are being harmed by the CIS).
Mandalore does send ‘humanitarian aid’ and their security escorts to any planet that wishes for help. Ryloth annexes itself to Mandalore after the fifth time the Mandalorains were instrumental in repelling yet another CIS invasion before the GAR could arrive (The Twilek of Ryloth do not begrudge the actual soldiers of the GAR. They do understand that it is a big galaxy, they can only protect so many places at once, and the various battalions do not actually get to choose where they are being sent. However they do blame the Politicians of the Republic for the war going on).
Somewhere in the first year of the war a group of Mandalorians find Boba Fett. This group, who had long been close to Obi Wan (and had in fact been part of the group going to Naboo), clock the 10 year old with Jango Fett’s face putting himself in dangerous situations and forcibly bring him to Mandalore,  where Korkie goes ‘Free little brother. For Me! Don’t mind if I do!’ and adopts Boba into the family (for the rest of his life Boba will maintain that there is some form of Captive Syndrome happening, but eventually Boba accepts it).
During the second year of the War several representatives from the Republic are sent to Mandalore, in theory to encourage Mandalore to join with the Republic for the war but several are also secretly on Palpatine’s payroll and looking to destabilize Mandalore or at least their ability to send people to protect other planets (which is making it difficult to extend the war). They are escorted by Qui Gon Jinn’s battalion (an amalgamation of the 212th and the 501st), accompanied by Qui Gon’s new Padawan Ahsoka.
The representatives were given the biggest run around that was politically feasible (Which is a lot, every member of the ruling family, their closest advisers, and the escorts are all little shits who knows how to pull off ‘we’ll piss you off and you can’t do anything about it’) led by Boba, who still does not like Jedi very much; even he understands what happened was a battle and not an attack so does not want to be around Qui Gon. Qui Gon and his troopers are greeted like family.
Satine and Obi Wan, as soon as they catch sight of Commander Cody, go ‘Ooooh Pretty’ (Satine had developed a limited Force Sensitivity after carrying Korkie, enough that she could perceive Force presences and both thought Cody’s force presence was the most beautiful they had ever seen). Qui Gon, who had to suffer from a year on the run with Smitten Padawan Obi Wan and smitten Protectee Satine, immediately recognizes the looks in both their eyes and decides he is too old for this shit. He ignores all of it to go play flirt with Shmi (neither he nor Shmi are actually interested in each other and they know it. Qui Gon has not been attracted to anyone other than Tahl and in this one Shmi is very much a Lesbian. They both enjoy flirting and are glad they have someone they can do it with without giving the wrong idea).
I am torn between if I want Padme and Anakin to immediately do the same thing to Rex (‘oooh pretty’), or if I want Anakin to look at Padawan Ahsoka and go ‘oh she’s little sister shaped’ and immediately try to adopt her (Between Anakin and Korkie rampant big brother instincts, the logical consequences of Satine and Obi Wan having a healthy sex life, and the Mandalorian adoption gene- Satine comes by it honestly, no is sure how Obi Wan managed to inherit it- the ruling family of Mandalore has something like 15 children; Anakin is still the oldest).
The negotiations start and the Duke and Duchess of Mandalore absolutely insist that Commander Cody be there through every step of it. It is in part because they are being little shits toward the representatives(all of whom had been vocal in the belief that the clones were not sentient) and making them flinch whenever one or the other goes ‘And what do you think, Cody, dear?’ It is also so the Duke and Duchess can flirt, heavily and obviously, with Cody the entire time he is there.
Cody is a bit baffled, since he is not usually the person drawing attention (both for dehumanizing  reasons and Cody is oblivious reasons), but does enjoy the flirting. He also returns the interest in Obi Wan and Satine. Three of the eight representatives began to ask his opinion on their own somewhere around day three.
At the two week mark, working in tandem, Obi Wan and Satine spring the trap that they had been weaving since the beginning (Cody had been warned what they were doing, and they made sure he was in agreement-which he would have been even if he had not been attracted to the other two, just for the benefits to his brothers). For two weeks they manipulated the representative, and in turn the senate, to get those representatives an unprecedented amount of power in treaty making (Since part of the treaty process, particularly with something like a senate involved, is ratifying the treaty in which the negotiators take it back to the people in charge to agree, there is a vote and all that). Basically anything these representatives agree to is binding, law within the republic, no restrictions on what they can agree to. No one in the senate realized that these eight now had that power, that they had given them that power. Now Obi Wan and Satine led the representative around by the nose until they were agreeing to all sorts of things. Things like the clones of Jango Fett, and clones in general, would be recognized by the sentience of their species (with which comes all kinds of rights and responsibilities on the part of the senate to clones). They also convince the representatives to seal the new treaty with Commander Cody's hand in marriage (incidentally making all of the Fett Clones Mandalorian citizens). It should be noted that the reason these representatives agreed to that was that they, personally, would receive the bulk of the bride price for Cody (the final price was actually higher than the republic bought him for in the first place, Cody was very proud).
In addition Mandalore does not quite join the republic, the agreement is to take control of the GAR to fight for the republic. It is worded in such a way that the Jedi are given a choice (thus they can send the children home), a number stay with their battalions but some are also able to be called back from the field. The GAR naval officers, the natborns, were to be replaced by Mandalorian officers. The few officers that wished to would need to sign up with the Mandalorians (there were a few that wanted to continue serving with the Clones). One of the concessions from the Duke and Duchess was that, though back pay would be handled by the senate, pay for the GAR going forward would come from Mandalore(the reason that the representatives agreed to let Mandalore take over the GAR, they felt quite proud of themselves). Without knowing it this also derails the Orders on the chips, since Palpatine is no longer in the chain of command, no matter what title he does or does not take.
Three months after the Chancellor’s office stopped being in the loop for the war, the CIS and the Republic sue for peace. Sitting across from each other on a neutral world but publicly broadcasted throughout the galaxy are Count Dooku and Chancellor Palpatine with Mand’alor Obi Wan Kenobi there to mediate. Dooku and Palpatine have too much on each other to reveal that the other is a secret Sith (not without the assurance of victory, which they do not have).  They are forced to play this as if they are both well meaning leaders trying to do what is best for their people, as neither has an army backing them any more (The GAR is now Mandalorian and they have destroyed the droid army). Obi Wan wants to get home to his spouses (Satine was pregnant again, while they would love any and all children equally, Obi Wan was hoping that the little one would be born with Cody’s features).
I cannot emphasize enough that Obi Wan does not know he is sitting with two Sith who, if they thought they could get away with it, would kill him and subjugate the galaxy. He honestly does think that the other two are doing their best (He knows as a leader himself that sometimes a leader will make unpopular or not understandable choices for the betterment of their people-because they had bad information or because of their own prejudices).
Two Sith are forced to negotiate a peace they do not want because not negotiating (or stalling) would be so obvious as to give them away and if they are exposed now the entire plan is for nothing.
They are not down and out yet, but it is not far off. Their plans are derailed, and the person who did it never even noticed.
And I think that is the ending both of them truly deserve.

BOY DO I HAVE IDEAS FOR YANDERE!FIVES
I wrote hcs for him years ago but i'll paraphrase some points from there:
Fives is a (mostly) harmless yandere who just really wants to please you! When he falls, he falls fast and deep. Once he decides he likes you and you're going to be his cyare (what I like to call a clone's darling), he's latched onto you and he will never leave. No matter how much you try to leave him, he will find you. Where there's a will, there's a way. Romantic.
"Where are you going? I'll come with you!"
Echo's a little jealous now that all of Fives' attention is focused on you but he's happy Fives has found his cyare.
As soft as he is for you, it doesn't mean he won't get violent. But not to you, never you! Compared to his brothers, Fives is calmer and prefers nonviolent means to get rid of anyone he perceives as competition but as soon as anyone makes you upset is having an unfortunate encounter staring down the end of his blaster barrel (away from you ofc).
Oh, and don't think you can come to the Jedi or other clones for help. Most of the Jedi are enabling and the clones work together and help each other out with their cyares. You're stuck with him <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fives is literally the LOVE OF MY LIFE!! I have been obsessed with him since episode 5 and am so happy to learn that he and Echo will be getting more screen time!!
You're 100% right, when Fives falls HE FALLS HARD. Poor baby can't get you out of his mind, constantly thinking about how soft your skin feels when you accidentally brushed past him in the halls. How sweet your laughter is when you giggle at a joke. How delicious your lips would taste when you grace him with kisses. How melodious your voice would sound uttering his name. You're just so dreamy and he's desperate to have you. I think the first thing he'd do when he realizes he can't get you out of his head is go to either Rex or Cody (Or maybe Anakin) to ask for advice. Obviously his older brothers (and general) wouldn't mind giving him some guidance. Tips on how to win her over. Ballpark estimates of what girls like (following the ever-basic "buy her flowers, girls love that stuff"). The most effective way of killing off anyone who gets too close to her without her tracing it back to you. Where the Chloroform is kept (You can't just hit your cyare in the back of the head with a blaster, it's just not right vod) They're all so helpful. Fives definitely takes their advice, although admittedly he'd be happier if you fell in love with him on your own accord. He'd feel kinda bad about kidnapping you.
Now Fives is definitely the clingy type. Trailing after you like a lost puppy, he's actually kinda excited when you leave the Jedi temple cause that means the two of you can go outside together. He's got no sense of personal space, constantly holding your hand or having an arm around your waste.
"Hold on mesh'la! Why are you walking so fast? It almost looks like you're trying to get away from me."
Tup and Echo are a little annoyed with how much of their vod's time you occupy. And how he's always talking about you. Still, they're happy for him and they'll do anything to make sure you stay with Fives. Despite their jealousy, they do try to be good wingmen. Even if that means stalking you through the streets of Coruscant. And forcefully dragging you back into Fives loving arms.
I agree!! He's totally super protective of his cyare!! Making sure that anyone who hurts you (physically or emotionally) is dealt with rapidly. He also likes to eliminate competition before it fully arises. Oh, someone looked at you from across the dance floor. Their corpse will be found the next morning in the trashcan. Did some guy ask for your number? Well, they had to take a quick "trip" to the "outer rim", so you won't be hearing from them for a while. After some time I feel like his darling would just give up and accept that they can't leave him. He's a great lover and he's so cute, I can't help but imagine that reader slowly starts to fall (very hard) for Fives too!!
The Jedi totally encourage this behavior. The poor clone troopers need love too! Anakin is super proud of Fives for picking such a sweet girl and if you ever go to him for help trying to escape your new lover. Then Anakin would harshly chaste you and drag you back to Fives personally. Ashoka would just start listing off reasons why Fives is the best lover for you. And Obi-Wan would hear nothing of it, Fives has gone to so much trouble for you at least try to show some gratitude!
I like to think that clones don't go after each other's lovers and are super respectful to one another. Push comes to shove, some clones just end up sharing a lover. What I wouldn't give to be shared between my favorite clones~💜

"And then Grey was like skoosh skoosh skoosh–" Caleb held up an imaginary carbine and let loose a series of blasts, so enthusiastic about his reenactment that he nearly fell off of the courtyard bench. " –and the SBD just exploded! He got him right in the power core! And then-and then-and then I did a backflip off of his shoulder, and I cut three B1's in half! It was so wizard."
"You did?" Mace gasped, theatrically placing a hand on his chest in feigned shock. He had a reputation for being overly stoic, cold even, but there was nothing that defrosted the Master like his Padawans. Depa had dropped off young Caleb to have lunch with his Grand-Master with a weary gratitude that Obi-Wan remembered well; ironically, it had usually been Mace that would give him a break from Anakin more often than not, back then.
"Sure did," Caleb raised his chin proudly. "Have you ever done that with your commander, Master Obi-Wan?" he asked eagerly, looking at him from the other side of Mace with bright turquoise eyes.
Obi-Wan swallowed his mouthful of salad. "Unfortunately, no," he said with a smile. "I think I might squash poor Cody if I tried, though, I weigh a bit more than you."
"Is that why you're watching your figure?" Mace asked wryly, looking at Obi-Wan's bowl of fresh greens.
"I don't care if they're nutritionally complete, human beings were not intended to survive off of ration bars alone," Obi-Wan grumbled into his salad.
"I didn't jump off Grey, I jumped off the battle droid!" Caleb giggled.
"Ah," Obi-Wan said. "Well, the answer is still no, but I'll make sure to bring it up to him before our next strategy meeting."
"Good idea!" Caleb said with a grin, then shoved a handful of fried tatos in his mouth. His nerfburger had been inhaled two meandering stories ago.
"Well, I'm impressed. That sounds like a very successful first mission." Mace gave him a pat on the back then added an unholy amount of orbakradish paste to his bowl of red turu rice, green peppers and bantha strips.
"Can I have some?" Caleb asked curiously, staring at the bright green bottle his grand-master had pulled from his pocket curiously.
"It's very spicy," Mace warned before leaving a tiny smudge on the boy's plate, then took a stoic bite of his rice bowl.
Caleb carefully dipped a corner of his fried tato in the orbakradish and took a bite. His eyes went wide. "Ow," he said faintly, and held his mouth open. "Aow. Aow."
Mace chuckled, dipped a tato in the cup of vinegar on the other side of Caleb's plate, then popped it in his open mouth. "I did warn you," he said as Caleb furiously chewed. "Orbakradish isn't like capsaicin. For that, you need some sort of cream. To cure this, you need vinegar."
Caleb sighed with relief. "Thanks, Master." He hurriedly popped another vinegar-soaked tato in his mouth, then finished off the rest of the plate with the speed that only eleven-year-old boys could manage without making themselves sick. Mace and Obi-Wan exchanged amused looks while they ate their own meals at a less tornadic pace.
"Go on, Padawan. Time to meditate, then practice your forms at the training salle." Mace patted Caleb on the back and took his empty plate once he'd licked it clean.
"Will you come and– I mean, I would be honored if you would spar with me after your Council meeting is done, Master." Caleb said bashfully. "If you want to. I, um, I know you're busy."
"I'm not sure how long I'll be, but I'll head down to the salles as soon as we're done. I'd be happy to spar with you, Padawan." Mace patted his cheek fondly and winked.
"Okay!" Caleb bowed hurriedly to Mace and then Obi-Wan. "Bye, Masters!" He took off at a run, almost tripping on his robes twice before disappearing around the corner.
"I miss that age," Obi-Wan said forlornly. "They're still so enthusiastic about everything. Once they hit puberty…"
"The attitude, I know," Mace said knowingly. He took a final bite from his rice bowl and reached a hand out for Obi-Wan's dish. "I'm grateful for Depa and Devan. Echuu was a handful. Girls are easier."
"Girls are not easier," Obi-Wan snorted, then rubbed his bald head, textured with a thousand offended bumps. The whole thing was so damn itchy, he'd had to meditate three times that morning just to keep his sanity. Perhaps Lace had some procaine cream in the medbay that he could borrow until all of the hairs had poked through the skin.
"Mine were," Mace shrugged.
"Yours aren't vindictive," Obi-Wan sighed.
"Why would they be?" Mace asked blithely. "I trained them well. They are above pettiness."
Obi-Wan glared at the sky instead of Mace. "Lucky you," he said to the speeder traffic above the Temple.
"I warned you about the consequences of leaving Anakin and Ahsoka out of the loop," Mace reminded him. "You insisted."
"I know." They both stood and began the long walk to the Council chambers elevator.
Mace passed their bamboo dishes onto a waste droid when they passed one then fished around for something in his pocket. "And you are the one who suggested that they go on the mission that 'killed' you," he pointed out, then popped a mint candy into his mouth.
"I know," Obi-Wan huffed. "I understand that my actions have consequences, Mace, I'm not a child."
"Then why are you so upset?" Mace asked.
"I'm not upset," Obi-Wan said automatically.
Mace rolled his eyes. "You aren't at peace, that's for certain."
"I–" Obi-Wan raised his hands and let them fall. "Ahsoka's never been one to hold a grudge at all, let alone at me. I expected the cold shoulder from Anakin, but not her."
"Ah. She's still hurt, then."
"She's got no reason to be hurt," Obi-Wan insisted.
"She discovered your 'corpse,' my old friend," Mace said.
"Please, p-please Bobi, open your eyes, open your… no, no, no, please no, Bobi please–"
"Would you really be so unmoved if you'd discovered hers?"
She fell to the ground like a ragdoll, dead from a single touch. Her limbs were twisted and her yellow eyes stayed open, filmy and veined with black like the rest of the Dark Side corruption that covered her.
He banished the memories. "That's different," Obi-Wan insisted. "We are not meant to outlive our Padawans."
"Yet we do." Mace called the elevator. "More and more often, it seems. And I do not see that changing until this war is over."
That reminded him. "Have you discussed your idea with Master Yoda?" Obi-Wan asked quietly.
"It's difficult to find a good time to propose an assassination," Mace answered. "Especially the assassination of his old Padawan."
The elevator arrived. The two Masters stepped on and began the journey up.
"You've discussed it with Quinlan?" Mace asked.
"I have. He's not unwilling."
"Good to know."
The two fell silent, and Obi-Wan commanded the mental image of Ahsoka's corpse lying at the feet of her killer to stop popping into his thoughts. The encounter on Mortis felt like a dream. He still wasn't sure what had actually happened, what was real and what was a vision, but the memory of Anakin's yellow eyes and his little girl lying dead and corrupted by the Dark side haunted him at the most inopportune moments.
May he become one with the Force before ever seeing such horrors again.
The elevator opened. The two walked down the hall to the inside of the Council chambers and took their seats in companionable silence. They were still a bit early, and no one else had yet arrived.
"Caleb was not supposed to be in active combat yet," Mace said after a few moments. "In case you were wondering. The mission he was assigned was a scouting mission. The droids were a surprise."
"Do you think I'm judging you, old friend?" Obi-Wan asked with a raised brow.
"No, but I thought you may want to know." Mace leaned back with an unreadable expression on his face. "He is very skilled, but I personally would prefer he not be on the front lines until he gains more experience."
Obi-Wan remembered Ahsoka eagerly bouncing off of the transport and straight onto the front lines of one of the most gruesome campaigns of the early war. "I understand," he said gently. "Unfortunately, there's only one way to get experience."
"I'm aware." The muscle in Mace's jaw worked a bit before he settled into his usual serenity.
"Greetings, Master Windu. Master Kenobi." Shaak-Ti's hologram flickered into view and she bowed her head.
The two men bowed theirs in return. "How fares Kamino?" Obi-Wan asked lightly.
"Sunny, for a change," Shaak-Ti said with a small smile. "The cadets have been training outside all day on the landing pads."
Mace smiled at her. "I'm happy to hear it."
"As am I," Plo said pleasantly. He and Depa bowed from the entrance, Yoda hobbling beside them. Depa spared a fond smile for her old Master as she took her seat, which Mace returned.
More holograms popped up; Kit Fisto, Ki-Adi-Mundi, Saesee Tiin, Agen Kolar, Coleman Kcaj, Luminara Unduli, Oppo Rancisis, and Stass Allie were all still on the front lines. Kit's hologram was cross-legged and floating subtly, broadcasting underwater from the ocean world of Klarn.
"Begin, we shall," Yoda said after clearing his throat. "May the Force guide us as we proceed."
Murmurs of agreement followed him.
"May I be the first to compliment Master Kenobi's haircut," Kit's hologram grinned at him.
"Thank you, Master," Obi-Wan deadpanned, resisting the urge to scratch his blasted scalp again.
"We are all very glad to see you alive and well," Shaak-Ti added with a twinkle in her eye. "You should stay close-shaven. You look twenty years younger."
Obi-Wan sighed. He was very aware; it was half the reason he had grown the beard in the first place. Shaak-Ti's tinkling giggle rang like a bell at his reaction.
A round of chuckles echoed her and Mace held up a hand to quiet them. "Our first order of business," he began with a smile, reading off a datapad, "is– oh." His smile disappeared and his eyebrows went up as he glanced over at Obi-Wan. "Padawan Ahsoka Tano has requested to speak with us."
Obi-Wan sat at attention. "She has?" he asked, surprised.
"Go ahead and send her in," Mace said into the comlink in his chair. "Do you know what this is about?" he asked Obi-Wan curiously.
Obi-Wan shook his head. "I've no idea," he answered.
The chamber doors opened and Obi-Wan watched Ahsoka step primly inside, pointedly not looking at him despite his centrality in her line of sight. He crossed his legs and frowned.
"Koh-to-yah, little 'Soka," Plo said. "Why have you come before us today?"
"Koh-to-yah, Master Plo. And thank you for allowing me to speak with you on such short notice, Masters," Ahsoka said politely. She made a deep bow and stood with perfect posture, her hands clasped in front of her. "I wish that this was not necessary, but as a Jedi I am a mandated reporter of abuse. If I witness the mistreatment of a child, I must speak up."
Obi-Wan raised an eyebrow, his ire easing. "What did you witness, dear?" he asked, the epithet slipping out automatically.
Her eyes slid onto him and he was immediately taken aback by how cold they were. "I need to report that there is a twelve-year-old human child being held in a maximum security prison facility alongside murderers, rapists, and violent criminals of all sorts right here on Coruscant," she said icily.
Obi-Wan's stomach dropped. He already knew who she was referring to, and cac, it should have been him reporting it. He'd completely forgotten about his encounter with Boba Fett. He had been so consumed with not just keeping his cover and managing Bane, but blocking the Force bond he shared with his Padawans in order to sell his death that Boba had simply slipped his mind. Force, the shock of seeing a twelve-year-old clone in the middle of supermax dissipated almost as soon as it had struck and Obi-Wan had just… left him there. He felt an alkaline knot of guilt twist around his belly.
There was a smattering of surprised gasps among the Councilors.
"Who is this child?" Depa demanded.
"What could he have possibly done to be imprisoned?" Ki-Adi-Mundi asked, bewildered.
Master Luminara shook her head. "We must contact the Guard at once, surely there was an error–"
Ahsoka held up a hand. "The boy is Boba Fett, Masters. After his failed attempt on Master Windu's life, he was sent to the Republic Judiciary Central Detention Center."
Looks of grim understanding passed between the Council members. Mace leaned forward. "He's in an adult prison?" he asked, anger coloring the edges of his voice. "Has he been there since he was taken into custody?"
"It would appear so, Master, yes."
Mace sank back, frowning severely. "I recommended leniency," he murmured, almost to himself. "The Chancellor assured me his age and his trauma would be taken into account. I believed he'd be sent to a juvenile facility at worst."
"As did I," Plo said heatedly. "Adult prison, for a child. This is not justice."
"Padawan Tano, find out this information, how did you?" Yoda asked, frowning.
"Well, Master," she said, turning, and Obi-Wan was slightly mollified to hear her address Yoda with the same frostbitten tone. She still hadn't forgiven him for Dogma. The clone was thankfully still alive, as Shaak-Ti had made enough of a fuss on Kamino to have gotten him imprisoned instead of immediately euthanized, but Ahsoka wouldn't be satisfied until he was back in the 501st. "I was viewing the helmet-cam footage from the prison riot that Master Kenobi participated in, and–"
"Is that footage not classified?" Ki-Adi-Mundi interrupted, frowning.
"The report is, but the footage was not, no," she said. "I watched it multiple times, and after I saw Master Kenobi fighting Boba I checked his report." Her eyes flicked onto him and then back to Ki-Adi-Mundi. "There's no mention of Boba in the non-redacted portions."
There was no mention of Boba in it at all, because Obi-Wan had forgotten about him like an idiot. His cheeks burned with embarrassment. A dozen heads turned and stared at him, and he'd never missed his beard more than he did at that moment.
"You fought Boba Fett?" Plo asked him sharply.
"Moralo Eval paid him to start a brawl with me in order to provide a distraction for his and Bane's escape," Obi-Wan said, staring at Ahsoka. She was very carefully studying her boots. He'd bought her those boots. "After I inserted myself into the escape party I… lost track of him."
"He is very small for his age," Ahsoka said with false sympathy. "I know you had bigger concerns at the time, Master Kenobi."
Obi-Wan's skin crawled like it was covered in ants. All of the extra blood rushing to his face was making his stubble itchier than ever.
"We will contact the Chancellor regarding Boba immediately, Ahsoka," Plo insisted, on the edge of his seat and visibly displeased. "We will ensure the boy is placed into a foster home and receives mind healing. Thank you for your diligence, and for bringing this injustice to our attention."
"Thank you, Master," Ahsoka said with a smile, then bowed to him. Obi-Wan felt irrationally jealous of the warmth in her tone. "But I am not sure that a foster home would be the best fit for Boba. He's young, but skilled at both combat and subterfuge. I'm concerned that he would escape and be at just as much risk on his own." She frowned. "He would likely seek out his father's old compatriots again."
"A fair concern," Kit conceded, his smile long gone.
"Do you have a suggestion?" Depa asked mildly.
Ahsoka clicked her heels together. "I would like to volunteer to serve as Boba's temporary legal guardian until I can reunite him with his family," she said solemnly.
The Council chamber went silent in surprise.
"You're only sixteen," Obi-Wan said faintly. "You can't–"
"Actually, as sixteen is the age of responsibility on Shili, I can," she said frostily. "I am a legal adult."
"It's seventeen on Coruscant," he argued. "You–"
"I believe that if I am trusted to lead a battalion of clone troopers into combat, I should be trusted to safeguard the well-being of a single child," she said, speaking over him. "And according to the most recent immigration statutes passed in the Senate, as a full, dual citizen of both worlds, I am actually considered a legal adult on Coruscant." She smiled at him, all teeth.
"Does he have a family?" Saesee Tiin asked. "I was under the impression that Jango Fett was a loner."
"I spoke with the older clones before coming to the Council, Master," Ahsoka said with perfect poise, and Force did it irritate Obi-Wan to see her use her manners for once. "They informed me that there were members of the Cuy'val Dar – that is, the Mandalorian trainers that Jango Fett recruited to train the clones for war – several of them were very close to him. Under the Mandalorian tradition, some could be considered family."
"What an excellent idea, Padawan," Plo said. "I would be grateful if you would come with me to meet with the Chancellor. I'm certain that you will be able to help me persuade him of the right course of action. We will seek out these Cuy'val Dar together, and reunite young Boba with what family remains to him."
Ahsoka bowed again. "It would be my honor, Master," she said sweetly.
Obi-Wan continued to silently seethe.
"Thank you again, Masters, for taking the time to speak with me," she said warmly, then her eyes flickered over to Obi-Wan. "I do hope that Master Kenobi is not censured too severely for failing to report such egregious abuse of a child. I'm certain he was simply preoccupied with his mission."
That was it. Ahsoka did not get to march into the Council chambers wearing boots that he had bought for her and humiliate him in front of his peers out of childish spite. Obi-Wan's hand slammed down onto the arm of his chair, startling everyone. "A word, Padawan," he said through gritted teeth.
"Of course, Master Kenobi," she said serenely.
He stood and led her brusquely from the Council chamber by her right bicep, ignoring the whispers of his fellow Council members behind them.
"An deach thu às mo chiall?" he hissed once the doors had closed and they had a spot of privacy. He released her arm and glared down at her. "Carson a tha thu a’ toirt eas-urram dhomh?"
"Apologies, Master Kenobi," Ahsoka said politely. "I didn't intend to publicly disrespect you."
He stared down at her. Her refusal to speak Maor-Grásta back to him hurt more than the silent treatment. That was their language. No one else at the Temple spoke the indigenous language of the planet crudely known as Stewjon, not even Anakin, though he had tried to teach him. "So this is how you're going to be, then?" he asked finally.
She blinked at him. "I'm not sure what you mean, Master."
"You damn well do," he snapped, and finally gave in to the urge to scratch his damn scalp. "This is childish of you, Ahsoka. You're better than this."
"Better than what?" she asked, cocking her head. "I've been nothing but polite, Master, but if you find my conduct unbecoming then I apologize. I will meditate on our interaction until Master Plo calls me to meet with the Chancellor." She bowed and turned to leave.
Obi-Wan caught her by the left arm and spun her back around. She hissed in pain and ripped her arm away.
"Please refrain from putting your hands on me, Master Kenobi," she said frostily.
Obi-Wan stared at her, knowing that if he asked what was wrong with her arm he'd get no answer. "I'm not putting my… Ahsoka, please, stop this."
"I'm not sure what you wish me to stop, Master."
"Stop acting like you've never met me before!" Obi-Wan said, raising his voice in frustration.
For just a second, her placid mask crumbled and he saw the devastation she was hiding underneath. The mask reappeared and she looked away, pursed her lips and shrugged. "Recent events have shown that I haven't, Master," she said quietly. "Not really."
Obi-Wan sagged and this time, he didn't stop her from walking away.
Tumblr media
Ahsoka went through her mental checklist again. She couldn't muck this up. If she somehow pissed off Chancellor Palpatine or failed to convince him that Boba didn't belong in supermax, the kid was screwed.
"Do not be nervous, little 'Soka," Plo whispered, squeezing Ahsoka's right shoulder reassuringly. They sat together on a plush bench in a waiting area right outside the Chancellor's office.
"I can't help it, Master," she whispered back. "What if I make it even worse, somehow?"
"I would advise you, respectfully of course, to think of what your Master would not do and try that."
Ahsoka snorted. His aura was a little too gold with humor for the seriousness of the situation.
"Trust in the Force. We are in the right, here, and we know this."
She nodded. "Yes, Master."
"You may enter," one of Chancellor Palpatine's secretaries called from the doorway; a short, plump Human woman with black hair shorn down to the scalp and the pale skin of someone who worked and lived exclusively indoors.
Ahsoka took a deep breath and let it out slowly, then followed Master Plo to the Chancellor's office. He was still sitting at his desk, writing something with an electric pen that showed up as a language she didn't recognize on the left side of his desk.
"Master Koon," the Chancellor smiled, and bowed his head. "And Padawan Ahsoka. My, how you've grown since I last saw you! I must say, Anakin raves about you every time we meet. He is very proud of you."
"Thank you, Chancellor," Ahsoka said sheepishly, ducking her head. There was nothing specific about the Chancellor himself that put her on edge, it was the office. There was just something unnerving about it. The statues of the Four Sages seemed to watch her from their posts bordering the room, and some of the art vibrated weirdly in the Force. Nothing she could pin down, just off.
She peered down at the unfamiliar writing on the Chancellor's desk. "That's a beautiful script," she said, projecting her aura out over the room with green serenity-amiability. It helped block out the weird vibrations of his artwork. "I don't recognize it."
"It's the poet's script," the Chancellor said, his naturally violet aura gone blue with appreciation. "It's an old traditional practice on Naboo. It's never been a spoken language, but one used solely for the arts."
"That's fascinating," Ahsoka said, returning his smile. "Do you write poetry, Chancellor?"
He chuckled and looked down, darkening with humility. "Oh, I dabble," he confessed with a smile. "It's a bit self-indulgent, of course, but it calms my mind."
"Nonsense, Chancellor," Plo assured him. "It is good to know that even in this period of war and violence, our leader makes time to create something beautiful for the galaxy."
Ahsoka was impressed. Plo could give Ob– Master Kenobi a run for his credits when it came to schmoozing.
"Ah, well," the Chancellor shrugged, his smile widening. "I doubt you called for an emergency meeting to discuss my poetry, dear. What can I do for you?"
Ahsoka sat up straight. "There has been a grave miscarriage of justice, Chancellor," she said solemnly. "Boba Fett has been placed into supermax alongside adults instead of a juvenile facility. He is a Fett clone, yes, but totally unaltered. He ages at a normal rate, not the accelerated rate of the troopers." She adjusted her projection to include a yellow ribbon of pity. "He's only twelve, Sir. Every second he spends in that place his life, his- his bodily sanctity is at risk."
Chancellor Palpatine went gray with surprise. "Oh, goodness," he said, immediately swiping away his poetry and summoning Boba's file up to the holoscreen of his desk. "Let me see here– ah." His holoscreen filled up with copies of legal documents, medical records, and crime scene holopics. "It seems that the judge presiding over his case determined that he was too dangerous to be kept in a juvenile facility." He glanced at her. "I cannot say that I disagree. He is unnaturally skilled for a boy his age, from what I have heard. He killed a Marshall Commander."
"Respectfully, Chancellor, Commander Ponds was murdered by Aurra Sing. Boba could not pull the trigger," Master Plo gently corrected.
"I understand the risks, Chancellor," Ahsoka said. "I would like to volunteer to serve as his legal guardian until I can reunite him with his father's Mandalorian family."
The Chancellor's eyebrows almost hit his hairline. "Jango Fett had family?" he asked, going a lighter gray with shock.
"In the Mandalorian tradition of found family, yes," Ahsoka nodded.
"So young Boba would escape punishment for his crimes against the Republic?" the Chancellor asked after a moment of curt silence.
"Boba Fett is but a child, Chancellor," Plo said peacefully. "He was manipulated by individuals that were once acquainted with his father and they used his grief to their advantage. They abandoned him at the first opportunity."
The Chancellor nodded, thinking. "That may be so, Master Koon, but he did kill hundreds of his fellow clones through his actions."
"He did, Chancellor, that can't be disputed," Ahsoka said softly, projecting strong amber amenability at him. "But he's an orphan, and he's twelve. He's exceptionally vulnerable to manipulation by adults that knew his father. They're the only connection he has left to him."
"The cadets that he infiltrated reported that he seemed reluctant to leave them to their fate," Plo piped up. "While his quest was misguided from the start, his target was Master Windu. The loss of clone life and the destruction of The Endurance was wholly unintentional."
"While sabotaging the hyperdrive of The Endurance, he had an opportunity to end the life of clone trooper Rivers," Ahsoka added. "He spared his life and stunned him instead. We truly believe that if not for the presence of Aurra Sing, Castas, and Bossk, he never would have taken that step."
"So you propose instead that I pardon the one who killed hundreds of clone troopers, naval officers, and support staff on account of his age?" Chancellor Palpatine steepled his hands underneath his chin and looked at her sympathetically. "I'm sorry, my dear, but I cannot in good conscience do such a thing. Aside from the morality of it, the boy could wreak untold damage if he escaped your custody."
"I promise he won't!" Ahsoka exclaimed, leaning forward. "Please, Chancellor. I know he made a terrible error in judgment that cost many lives, but he's twelve."
"So you've said," the Chancellor said dryly, lowering his hands. "Ahsoka–"
Ahsoka impulsively reached across his desk and clasped his hands. "He needs rehabilitation, not a life sentence before it's even began," she said earnestly. She wouldn't go so far as to try and mind trick him, not with Plo right there, but her Empathy was stronger with physical touch. She let burnt-orange supplication roll down her arms and flow from her hands onto his. "Please, Chancellor," she said, popping her porg eyes. "Just give him a chance."
The Chancellor's aura flushed copper with affection-agreement. "You do make a compelling argument," he said fondly, withdrawing his hands after giving hers a squeeze. "The Great Negotiator has taught you well."
Ahsoka ducked her head with a small smile, trying not to let him feel the cold shock of hurt that Master Kenobi's nickname triggered.
"Very well." He raised his chin to look over Ahsoka's shoulder at his secretary. "Go fetch Commander Fox, please."
"Right away, Sir." The secretary scurried off and the Chancellor drew up a document.
"I shall grant Boba Fett a full pardon, effective immediately," he said, then glanced up at Ahsoka with a smile. He transferred something onto a datapad and handed it to her. It was a legal certificate declaring her the legal guardian of one Boba Fett.
Oh, kriff, she hadn't actually let herself believe that she'd get this far. She had a kid. She had a shabla kid. A shabla clone kid.
"Congratulations, my dear, it's a boy," he said with a small chuckle and a wink. "I do hope Anakin isn't too cross with you. I can't imagine that he expected to become a grandfather quite this early."
Ahsoka's stripes went hot. Her Master… was not going to be pleased with her, to put it lightly, but she just couldn't leave Boba in there a second longer than necessary if she could put a stop to it.
"Please, 'Soka, you have to get him out of there," Rex pleaded, staring at the screen with an aura gone stark white with shock-horror-outrage. "He's so little. They'll kill him, they'll– osik, what have they already done to him–"
She would have done it anyway, but Force if Rex's begging wasn't compelling. She'd break Boba out if she had to.
But really, Anakin was going to kill her once he got back from Toydaria with that Force-sensitive toddler.
"Commander!" Chancellor Palpatine said brightly over Ahsoka's shoulder. "Please escort Master Koon and Padawan Tano down to the detention center. Boba Fett is being released into her custody, effective immediately."
"Oh. Interesting. As you say, Sir," Fox said, then turned to Ahsoka and Plo. "Ready whenever you both are," he nodded.
"Take care, Ahsoka," Chancellor Palpatine said warmly, standing along with them. "And do be on guard with young Boba. From what I understand, the boy is quite crafty, despite his tender age."
"Oh I will, Chancellor, don't worry. I remember how much of a handful he was." Ahsoka bowed and tried to ignore the way the statues of the sages stared at her. "Thank you again. You've saved a life today."
"And my thanks as well, Chancellor," Plo added, bowing after her. "We appreciate your expediency."
"I wish you luck in your endeavor, my dear." Palpatine winked at her. "And don't be afraid to visit more often. I've got some stories about Anakin as a youth that you might enjoy."
Ahsoka's stripes flushed again and she picked at her thumb's cuticle.
"Alright, General, Commander. Let's get you over to the prison before sundown." Fox slung his carbine over his shoulder and led the way out.
Tumblr media
Boba curled up tighter on his side, willing the pain in his sides to go away. After he'd jumped Hardeen it had been chaos. He wasn't sure if it was the guards or the other bastards he was locked in here with that had broken his ribs, but it didn't really matter. He needed to get better. He couldn't afford to look weak. Prison was worse than a jungle, at least an animal just killed you and was done with it. The predators here liked to play with their food, first.
"Come on, little man, come bunk with me. I know it gets cold at night, you must be shivering with only a lizard to keep you warm–"
At least in solitary Boba could focus all of his energy on healing instead of defending himself. He chewed on his split lip and readjusted his face against the wall so that his black eye was pressed directly against the cold surface.
"Time to go, Fett."
Boba was sitting upright and ready to respond in under a second. Nobody would know by looking at him that he was holding his breath so as not to scream from the pain. One meiloorun, two meiloorun, three meiloorun–
"Go where?" he asked after a few seconds, cool as a caniphant. Fox, on the other side of the bars, had two DC-17 sidearms, a DC-15A carbine, and two vibroblade hits sticking out from his gauntlets. Two pairs of cuffs hung from his belt next to a small canister of capsaicin spray.
Boba could get to the spray the easiest, kick the back of Fox's knee, twist his arm and grab the blaster–
"It's your lucky day, cyar'solus," Fox said, undoing the biometric locks on his cell.
"Don't call me that," he snapped. Damn it, Boba didn't want to go back to genpop yet, he was still too injured. The guards tried to watch out for him; some of them did, anyway, the ones who didn't hiss vod'kyramud when he passed them in the halls. Bossk usually stuck up for him but he was just one man. Boba already had a size disadvantage, but with his ribs fucked his speed suffered. He eyed the capsaicin spray at Fox's belt again. He'd get his ass kicked if he went for it, but they'd keep him in solitary longer. Fox had the frame of a gundark but he wasn't a shabuir, he would just give him another lump or two before locking his cell again instead of rebreaking things on purpose.
Fox snickered. "I'll call you whatever I want. Now face down on the floor, you know how this works."
Yeah, he did. Boba swallowed hard and carefully got on his belly, watching the canister of spray swing closer. The floor was hard but the cold felt good. He took a deep breath and prepared to make his move.
As if Fox knew what he'd been thinking, he walked around him in a wide circle and approached from behind before cuffing him. He pulled Boba to his feet, gentler than he expected. "You're being given a second chance, kid," he said quietly. "Don't kark it up."
"The fuck does that mean?" Boba asked faintly; even with Fox's careful grip, he wasn't able to draw in air properly with the way his ribs were screaming.
"You're getting out."
"What?" Boba tried to spin around and look at Fox, but he kept a firm hold of his cuffed hands and kept him from turning.
"Walk, squirt," Fox said in a bored voice.
Where was he going? Where were they sending him? It hit him then, what had to have happened; Aurra. He knew she wouldn't abandon him. She'd had to make a tactical retreat, that was all. Somehow she'd pulled in a favor or used her connections in the guild, or maybe even kidnapped a judge. He fought down a smirk as they walked past the other inmates, all howling and hissing and complaining about his special treatment.
He was foolish to have given up on Aurra. She really did care about him.
"Stand here." Fox started undoing the locks to the hall that led to the private interview rooms, the ones that prisoners used to meet with their attorneys.
Boba never had an attorney. He had gone through sentencing on his own.
"Alright, walk." Fox took him by the cuffs and shoved him forward through the door. "And be respectful."
"Respectful to who?" Boba grouched.
"Your new mum," Fox snickered, stopping in front of a door halfway down the hall. "Congratulations. You've been adopted."
Boba whipped his head up so fast that black spots appeared in his eyes. "I've been fucking what?" he squeaked.
Fox pushed him inside of the interview room while he was still reeling. Instead of Aurra, the two Jedi who had arrested him were waiting inside; a Kel Dor who towered over everyone, even Fox, and a scrawny orange Togruta with big blue bug eyes and two sabers on her belt. She was taller than he remembered.
"Koh-to-yah, Boba Fett," the Kel Dor said, bowing to him. "I am Jedi Master Plo Koon, and this is Padawan Ahsoka Tano."
"The fuck do you cunts want?" Boba spat, furious at himself for being so stupid that he thought Aurra would come for him. He was such a gullible di'kut. Of course she didn't really care. He was never anything but clout to her, just something of Jango's that she could show off.
The Tog blinked at him, obviously shocked. The little princess obviously wasn't used to bad language. "I, um, I…"
"Go ahead, Ahsoka," the Kel Dor said with a little pat on her back.
She took a deep breath, stepped forward, and then smiled and placed a hand on his shoulder. He felt the tension in his back muscles ease a little, weirdly enough. "I want to get you out of here, if that's alright with you."
"Why the fuck should I go anywhere with you?" Boba asked suspiciously, then backed up so he could keep the both of them in plain view. "You're the cunts who put me in here. Why do you care?"
"We never meant for you to be placed in a place such as this, young man," the Kel Dor said apologetically.
"We want to help you find your family, Boba," the Tog said earnestly.
"Are you both fucking stupid?" Boba snapped. "I don't have any family. The Jedi killed the only family I had."
The Tog and Kel Dor exchanged looks. "I know, Boba," the Tog said. "And I'm sorry for your loss."
Boba looked at his feet.
"Why don't we be on our way?" the Kel Dor suggested. "We have much to discuss, but there's no need to do so on an empty stomach. I find myself craving a milkshake."
"Oooh, I could go for a milkshake," the Tog said with her brow markings raised. "How about you, Boba?"
"I don't want a fucking milkshake, I want to know what's going on!" Boba said, backing up into Fox. He… he needed to get away from these people. They had some sort of weird plan for him, he was sure of it. What if they wanted to send him back to Kamino? Maybe they wanted to string him up in a lab and use him to make more of their precious troopers. Without Dad the longnecks couldn't make them like they used to, and Boba was a perfect copy. "What did Fox mean? He said I was going to meet my new mum, what did he mean by that?"
The Tog bit her lip and looked at him. "That, um, that would be me," she said sheepishly. "I… I'm your legal guardian."
"You're my legal guardian?" Boba stared at her. She looked barely older than him, though she was a lot taller than he remembered.
"Yep," she said happily, rocking back on her heels. "So, what do you say? Ready to go?"
Boba glanced up at Fox, who gave him a reassuring nod. "Not like I have a fucking choice, do I?" he asked sullenly.
"No, you don't," the Kel Dor – Koon, Boba remembered he said his name was – said gently. "But I imagine that you would choose to leave the Republic Judiciary Central Detention Center."
"Obviously," Boba said, frowning.
"So." Koon shrugged. "Shall we?"
The Tog smiled brightly at him. He realized that she was nervous, and for some reason that made him feel better.
"Fine." Boba rubbed his wrists after Fox unlocked his cuffs. Whatever. Fox didn't need to help him, he could do this on his own. He just had to stick with them long enough to get out of prison. The second the idiots turned their backs, he'd be out of there. Boba glanced up and met the Tog's nervous gaze. "But I'm not calling you fucking Mum."

hi yes i’m watching the Bad Batch arc of season 7 for the millionth time so here are this rewatch’s thoughts for all four episodes:
Marshall Commander Cody, highest ranked clone in the GAR: “let’s just wait until we’re in enemy airspace to debrief this highly important mission”
watching TBB inflict damage is always so much cooler than reading it, thanks aphantasia
wat tambor can suck a dick
Rex having both his greatest hope and worst fear confirmed is fucking *chefs kiss*
everytime they zoom in on Hunter it’s like a bad video game cut scene and i love it
poor Rex, Anakin puts him through so much
i will never get over Crosshair using Tech’s shoulder as a stabilization
god i wish TBB tv show showed more of Hunter giving incredibly specific orders in increasingly vague numbers
did i mention wat tambor can suck a dick?
yah know what? i’ll say it. Cross deserved that punch from Rex
TBB theme behind Anakin trying to brace Rex for Echo not being there?? kill me now
“Yeah, it’s a lift”
“His mind is ours” STFU TAMBOR
THE IMPLICATIONS THAT ECHO HAS BEEN RELIVING THE CITADEL FOR what TWO YEARS HELP
Anakin sees Echo back from the dead and doesn’t bat a fucking eye he’s seen so much since the start of this war
Wrecker blowing up Echo’s chamber so they can’t use it again warms my heart look at how much Wrecker cares!! (excuse me while i refrain from my full emotionally intelligent Wrecker rant)
I FORGOT ECHO JUMPED ON THE KEERADECK BY HIMSELF MINUTES AFTER WAKING UP FROM A MEDICAL COMA
so much time is devoted to the battle between the techo union and the TBB/Rex and Anakin/the Poltechs and i genuinely just want so much more of it
saying “hopefully it’s gonna be just like old times” to a man who’s been kept as a science experiment for two(?) years is insane
the narrator will not let us forget that Echo’s an ARC Trooper and i’m so grateful for it
whoever decided to give Echo a scomp arm i am kissing you on the mouth
“to be blunt” Tech you’ve never not been blunt in your entire life
has no one informed Admiral Trench that his “algorithm” has been compromised!?
Windu trying the “can we not?” method with the battle droids is so funny to me
“if it makes you feel better, it isn’t my plan” Anakin you little shit
unrelated but since when is the entire back of Jesse’s helmet blue??
Anakin wasn’t super justified in cutting off half of Admiral Trench’s limbs and then killing him, but who boy i love watching him go from Jedi to Jedi-adjacent to Sith
god i love Wrecker, if you’ve made it this far and have Wrecker-centric fics to recommend let me know
and, finally, love seeing TBB give a clean salute to Rex and knowing that they’re only doing it bc of Echo lmao

The Clone Wars 4x5 'Mercy Mission' Reaction
Tumblr media
eeeeeeeeeeee Wolffe!
Omg he’s so grumpy and done with everything and long suffering already I love him so much
You can tell from the first word he says. That “We’ve” was basically sighed with so much disgruntlement.
Tumblr media
Ahahahaha he’s so pissed that he’s not there supporting Plo. Why has my General been left by himself? *humph* That is barely concealed displeasure that he’s been diverted from his duties. Wolffe said ‘Orders’ in such a particular tone that made it pretty damn clear how pissed he is. He’s so grumpy. I love him.
How often do the clones interact with Senators? Or at least Padmé? I should imagine Rex and Cody would more than others (Rex is probably so done with Anakin pretending to be subtle) but this feels like the first time I’ve seen a clone directly report to a Senator.
I’m again struck by just how Aussie the clones sound. Or maybe Generic Antipodean/slightly British at best. That is not a Kiwi accent. Give the clones the Kiwi accent they deserve.
That shot of the ships in space flying over the curved edge of the planet with a sun in the background feels like a homage to something. 2001: A Space Odyssey? That’s usually what gets referenced. The music here is gorgeous.
This is probably going to be a very unpopular opinion but it kind of feels like the clones are being a bit dickish to the droids? Please don’t eat me alive
Omg the LAAT/i’s have nose cone art of Plo and his troopers. I think I’ve seen this in previous episode's but I still love seeing it again.
“Greeeeeeaaaaaaaat, it’s gonna be another one of those planets.” omg I love you random clone trooper pilot. They’re all so grumpy. The entire Wolf Pack is just so grumpy. Maybe that’s a prerequisite for being part of the Wolf Pack. Eternal grumpiness.
My god Wolffe, that is some jaw line
“Ah, did you get that?” ahahahaha the dryness of that line. Insert your cliches about being drier than Tatooine here.
Tumblr media
OMG THE EYE ROLL I AM SCREECHING
Tumblr media
That is some Star Trek bridge shaking level acting going on in the after shock
Ugh he’s so gruff and rough and just ugh do me commander
Tumblr media
“We’re good, but not that good.” ahahaha the sarcasm is off the charts
Oh hey Sinker is still around! Hey Sinker!
Do all of the Wolf Pack have the same paint? Usually it’s fairly easy to tell between the different clones but I can’t spot the differences as well with them. Maybe it’s the grey paint? I think Sinker has grey sections on the bottom of his helmet but the rest of his armour seems to be the same as the rest of the Wolf Pack. They all have the same patterned left pauldron.
Oh hey it’s Boost as well! Hey Boost! I hope he and Sinker and Wolffe and Plo are doing ok after the Malevolence. Ok doesn’t feel like the right word for what happened to them but I can’t think of the right one. Wookieepedia has just informed me that the Malevolence was inspired by the Bismarck, which makes sense.
Back to the paint of the Wolf Pack, Boost has grey spikes under the horizontal section of his visor but that’s the only difference I can spot. At least it’s better than his hair XD
Tumblr media
Lmao Boost could you be any more trigger happy
Omg after Boost kicks open the door, the shot pans up and Sinker is just standing there like a model, slightly bent knee and all.
Tumblr media
I love how much you can tell that Wolffe takes absolutely no shit just from the way he moves and carries himself.
Omg the sneer over his shoulder. If he glared at me like that my knees would absolutely buckle.
Tumblr media
“Do I need this?” CACKLING
“A firm hand.” I bet that’s not the only place where Wolffe has a firm hand omg help me the thots are taking over
“I have a bad feeling about this.” Star Wars cliche klaxon
Tumblr media
I’m only noticing this because I remember a post pointing this out but Wolffe really does waddle in his kama. The poor man definitely has back problems. He's so stiff.
I love the way that Aleena takes a moment to realise they’ve been left with Wolffe and suddenly has this ridiculously exaggerated horrified and terrified expression on their face before fleeing.
Tumblr media
It’s the Ents! Does that make R2-D2 and C-3PO Merry and Pippin?
Is Orphne supposed to be some kind of alien villainous femme fatale? Gestures matching words? What is this, a high school theatre production?
Fire. Soil. Water. What is this, a Captain Planet reference?
R2 did you just pee on Orphne’s floor?!
The vapours! *faints*
Tumblr media
OMG THE EYE ROLL AGAIN! SCREAMING EVERY TIME. Wolffe is So. Done. I love him.
The music is beautiful here too. The Kiner’s did such a good job.
Tumblr media
EYE ROLL VOLUME 3. I am WHEEZING
That’s Boost and Sinker standing next to Wolffe with two very understanding tilts of their buckets.
Tumblr media
Ah, so that’s where the gifs of Wolffe wincing comes from. Also, Sir, those are some seriously sharp cheekbones.
“I couldn’t agree more, Sir.” Sinker being the very supportive Sergeant there.

A while ago I did a little fic inspired by a fanficion I read a while ago. It’s a AU where if Sephora and some of her allies get sent to an alternative realty where she doesn’t exist yet the entirety of Order 66 still was initiated to happen. (Also this is after she is married to Rex and Order 66 happened many years prior in her time.)
“Okay.. so let me get this straight.” Anakin said while walking down the barrack hall.
“You and Rex are MARRIED???!!” He asked her in shock.
Sephora gave him a skeptical look. “Yes.” She plainly stated as if it was no big deal.
Everyone pretty much just coughed in the room.
“Way to be discreet.” Wolffe scoffed. Cody gave him a look.
“-And you’re a Jedi General??! No less on the HIgh Council?” Anakin exclaimed.
“Well yes..but that was years after that time—”
“RIght, right after the whole apocalypse or whatever. But you still did!!”
Sephora looked nonplussed by his insistent probings, she rubbed her temples. “You’re not taking this seriously.” She muttered.
“I am taking this seriously!” Anakin defended. “You married my Captain! That’s a BIG DEAL!!!”
Sephora slid her hand down her face. “Wow…”
“She’s so done with him.” Jesse snickered.
Poor Rex just looked traumatized by it all, he just did not know WHAT TO DO.
“I think she’s referring to the executed plan of Palpatine General.” Wolffe pointed out to him.
Sephora appraised him. “Thank you.” Wolffe just smirked in content.
“Okay, okay fine. That is a big deal. But still you can’t just expect me to remain kosher and not ask about this. He’s my Captain- like how did you two even fling???!!!”
Fives coughed. “Uhh I think you said they had a ‘force bond’ General?” Fives stated.
Rex coughed.
Sephora crossed her arms and glowered at him.
“Riiighhttt..yeah I guess that explains some things-”
“I just can’t with you…”
“--But not everything.” Anakin stated.
Sephora’s eye twitched. “How about I start talking about all your little escapades with Senator Amidala and start questioning you on how all of that fiasca started??”
The boys snorted in laughter, crying.
“She’s good, I like her.” Fives stated to Echo who was trying to hide his face.
Rex gave him a questionable look.
Anakin raised his hands in placation. “Alright, alright. Point taken.” He supplemented.
“Is it really?” Wolffe pressed.
“I’m sure it would be fun.” She said in a sing-song voice. At this Cody couldn't take it, he had to turn and cough.
“Alright, alright. I get it. I’ll yield.” Anakin stated.
“Good.” She stated.
It was quiet a moment, everyone was on the edge of their seat. It was OBVIOUS they had more questions.
“So..did you have any kids?” Anakin suddenly asked.
“Oh for the love of god Ani.” Sephora retorted, this made him cave in.
“Man..she shorted his name that must be bad.” Kix stated.
“I’m sorry but I’m insanely curious!” He defended. “Wait, did I have kids?”
Sephora pursed her lips unblinking.
“I’m so done with you..”
“But did you though- or me?” He asked excitedly.
The clones were losing it at this point.
“I don't know how much more of this I can take before I'll lose my composure.” Wolffe stated with a slightly amused look on his face.
“You haven’t lost it already??” Cody asked him. Wolffe glowered at him.
“I’m not sure if I should be telling you any of this..” She admitted.
“What’s it going to do?” He asked. “I'm not going to die.”
Sephora face palmed. “You already know the risks. I don’t need to repeat them to you.”
“Any kids? Any?”
“Anakin..”
“Yes?”
“No..”
“Wait..we have no kids? Or no you won’t tell me?”
“Anakin I’ve been married for 9 yrs..I have children.” She nonchalantly stated.
All the clones coughed in triumph. Poor Rex was in shock, the poor man was mystified.
“Wow.” He put, blinking, “Wait…how old are you???”
Sephora just stared at him. “I am so kriffing done with you.” The clones snorted in laughter. Some of them had to get up and leave.
“I can’t.” Fives said his face beet red, he coughed.
“You don’t ask girls that question Ani..it’s against the rules.”
“Why how old are you?” Anakin smirked crossing his arms.
Her eye twitched. “There’s no way you're fifty you look too youthful for it..wait how much older are you than me?”
“End of discussion.” Sephora closed.
“No I’m not-”
“Yes end of discussion. I am older than you in general so shut it.”
Cody was trying to hide a wheeze. Wolffe snorted, he was quite enjoying all of this comedy.
“Wait how much older?”
“Near the end of the CW I was 26 you were 21. I’m five years older than you.”
Anakin’s jaw dropped. “That’s not fair.” He finally stated.
“Yeah you thought that then too.” She stated now sitting down and randomly going through an archive.
“So…you were placed on the High Council before me then?”
Sephora raised a skeptical eyebrow at him. “Maybe? What if I was?”
Anakin scoffed. “Why are you being so cryptic about it?” He asked confused.
Seohora just smirked slightly. “Maybe because I want to be.” She stated.
Anakin frowned, the Commanders and Rex snickered.
“You’re so irritating.” He stated, crossing his arms. He was pouting to be honest. The snot.
“If you knew half of what you did to me all those years ago..you would probably take back that statement.” She stated.
Anakin raised a skeptical eyebrow. “What did I do to you exactly?” He smirked slightly.
“My lips are sealed.” She calmly stated.
“You are something else you know that?” Anakin stated.
“Yeah…something else..” She repeated like there was something in her train of thought.
“Maybe you should your check on your Padawan don’t you agree?” She calmly suggested. “1600 is generally training time.”
Anakin opened his mouth. “Wait how did you..” It clicked. “Yeah, yeah right. It was the same I take it?”
Sephora raised her eyebrow at him, smirking a little. “Are you going now?” She questioned of him.
Anakin huffed. “Fine. But I want answers later.” He stated pointing his finger at her and leaving the premises.
Sephora shook her head and sighed. “I forgot how exhausting he can be.” She stated, looking back to the still there clones.
She smirked slightly. “Still inquisitive? You can ask, but it doesn’t necessarily mean I’ll answer.” She admitted.
“You got beef with Skywalker?” Wolffe inquired but it sounded more of a statement.
“Let’s just say, we didn’t get along very well.” She stated looking back to the archives.
“Yet you added up marrying Rex?” Cody asked looking a little skeptical himself.
“Well Rex isn't exactly Skywalker now is he?” She stated.
501st snickers. Rex glowered at them.
Wolffe smirked himself. “No not really.” He stated smirking at Cody.
“You seem more open with us then answering the General” Jesse stated, “Is there a reason, may I ask?”
At this they seemed genuinely curious.
“I’ve always felt more relaxed around your brothers I guess. I was used to staying around you for many years. I was with my Master before the CW began upon Kamino. I guess you can say I don’t think as much about it.” She stated looking back to him.
“Anakin…well we always butted heads so..I’ll let you decipher that.” She replied, trying not to hint at anything too much.
Most of them smirked.
“So…if you’re here. Then what does that mean for all of us?” He asked of her.
“I’m..not entirely sure Jesse. But I’m hoping that maybe I can put a stop to this event before it even starts.” She said gazing at him intently. “From what I can tell thus far…things are very similar..in fact scarily so. Yet my existence along with Battalion seems to be naught. In this regard..I am not sure. But perhaps it is good for me..so that I won’t have any recognition.”
They were quiet a moment. “How bad was it?” This time Fives asked. “During you know what.”
The light in her eyes faded. “It was terrible..it was horrible. But if there’s anything I can promise now I won't let it happen again. That’s a promise I plan to keep, as long I am here..I will make certain you don’t experience what I did then. You have my oath.”
They seemed transfixed by this statement. It was obvious they were not expecting this much dedication from her. Rex was looking at her differently at the moment. He was really thinking more into it now..

I’ll upload Part Two later since this is so long 😆

Arthur: I much prefer the old Canon explanation so I decided to write this prompt. Along with my personal opinion on how Order 66 would have went if the Clones did it willingly in the Clone Wars.
When the order came down, Commander Cody stood quietly. They had fought in countless battles throughout the Clone Wars. The man saved his life more than once.
But Cody's ultimate loyalty was to the Republic. Every Clone was indoctrinated into the army, taught all the contingency orders.
There was no personal pleasure in what he was about to do. Just a man doing his job.
That job being kill General Kenobi and possibly another Jedi.
Still, Cody felt a slight annoyance with the whole thing. It would have been easier to remove Kenobi without that damn weapon of the Jedi. But of course, Cody could still make sure casualties are avoid.
Still, he couldn't help but murmur. "Would it have been too much to ask for the order to have come through before I gave him back the bloody lightsaber?"
Still, a small part of him couldn't help but hope that Kenobi's death would be quick.
He might be a soldier, but he was still a man of his own who had thoughts or opinions of his own like many other Clones.
On a Venator traveling back to Coruscant, recently promoted Commander Rex stood, sell-shocked.
Order 66...
But Tano wasn't...
But the Clones have been indoctrinated to follow the damn orders. All their lives, on Kamino, any Clones who disobeyed orders would often be targeted by the long necks and sufer reconditioning at best.
The worst, the poor bastards were never seen again.
The same could be said for Rex if he doesn't go through it.
"Rex, it's Anakin. I feel like something terrible has happened."
Yet, Ahsoka Tano had been loyal to him. She and General Skywalker. Their tactics were far from orthodox yet they led to high success rates.
Still, a traitor was a traitor, and Tano had to be put down.
No, Rex knew he couldn't do it.
His hands shook over his helmet as he dropped it in conflict.
Both Clones behind her registered the orders and turned their blasters on Tano's back.
"No, stand down."
"Sir? We have been given directive orders by Chancellor Palpatine to execute all Jedi." One of them said, and Rex couldn't even put a name on the face now.
Was he the only one thinking clearly right now?
Should he just go along with it?
"Sir, orders are orders," the Clone said.
Rex raised his blasters at Tano's direction, saying. "Very well, I'm sorry."
"Rex!" Tano grabbed both of her lightsaber hilts but didn't activate them yet.
The Clone was about to fire before turning his aim and firing.
Both of them dropped dead.
At that moment, the door opened behind them, and the Clone Captain flipped around, noticing Jesse and the rest of the Clones.
"Take the Captain down!" Jesse growled, betrayal in his voice.
"Jesse-" Rex was about to say before they all fired at his command.
Tano jumped in front of him and began blocking blaster bolts. Rex gripped his helmet and fired. Eventually, they would have to run, but the man couldn't regret his decision.
"Come on!" Ki-Adi-Mundi shouted.
Clone Commander Bacara and the Galactic Marines had other ideas.
The Clone Commander would admit hesitating briefly. How could Mundu turn against them?
Regardless, the Galactic Marines Commander all gave the motions for them to wait until the time was right.
That time being now.
When Mundi turned around, all of the carbines clocked and aimed.
They fired, and the bastard was able to last for a few seconds before falling.
They stopped when they understood he was no longer a problem.
Clone Commander Bly cared about Aayla Secura.
Every one of his men do. She led them to hell and back on many planets. They hadn't even returned to Coruscant once since the war began.
When Order 66 came through, Bly gave a reluctant heartache nod to his men.
They all centered behind them, and Bly wondered if each of them were feeling tears in their eyes now.
They made it quick.
Her back sprayed with blaster bolts, and they didn't stop.
No, she didn't deserve to die so painfully. Were it a bastard like Quinlan Vos, it would have been different, but not her!
Neyo didn't even hesitate against Stass Allie either.
The speeders pulled up and fired.
That was all.
Gree had to admit being relieved that he wasn't executing Master Unduli.
She had been a good General. His men would take her out. He knew that much.
But Gree knew that Master Yoda couldn't be that much of a threat. He wasn't even involved with much of a battle.
The Clone Commander nodded at the other trooper - Jek - and aimed his blaster at the back of Yoda.
Pull the trigger and that would be all...
A blur of green, and Gree felt no more.

“Anakin’s having a baby,” Obi-Wan said into his travel mug of coffee. If he hadn’t had his eyes still fixed on his laptop screen, he might have had more sympathy for Cody’s poor, frazzled nerves, which couldn’t take such a statement at a time like this.
“What,” Cody said into the chill of their kitchen, letting shards of crushed eggshell and gooey yolk dribble out from between his fingers and into the kitchen sink.
“Pregnant,” Obi-Wan said.
Yes, thank you, light of Cody’s heart. This made everything so much clearer.
“Anakin…” Cody said slowly. There were several pieces of this that he was missing. He was sure of it. Cody did not like missing things. He did not like having to interrogate Obi-Wan. Unfortunately, after 45 years of gleefully obfuscating in every direction possible and some previously impossible, Obi-Wan had become shit at communicating in a clear and direct manner exactly when it mattered most.
“Twins,” Obi-Wan added. He took another long, slow gulp of his coffee—black, scalding, French roast.
“And Padmé and Rex…”
“Ecstatic.” Obi-Wan was still not looking at his husband. He was, Cody was sure, enjoying every second of this, or else meditating deeply on the nature of the universe and his place in it and only minimally aware of the conversation he was having. Both were equally as likely.
Cody ran one hand through his hair and braced the other against the counter next to the sink. “And Anakin is doing well.”
Obi-Wan hummed a low note that was neither agreement nor disagreement.
He’d gotten egg in his hair. Cody cursed and hung his head between his shoulders, staring blankly at the egg trickling into the garbage disposal. He was too young to be an uncle. It was bad enough that Bly and Aayla were going through the adoption process.
Hadn’t he earned peace in this world? A moment of respite from the cruel, inexorable march of time?
Warm, strong arms slipped around his waist and Obi-Wan carefully hooked his chin over Cody’s shoulder. They stared into the sink together as a piece of eggshell tipped over the edge of the drain and fell into the garbage disposal with a sad sound.
“Anakin’s going to be busy,” Cody said after a moment.
“Oh, yes, most certainly,” Obi-Wan said, cheerful somehow.
“And the babies are due…”
“Oh, well, it’s too early to tell.” Obi-Wan patted a damp paper towel through Cody’s curls, trying his best to be helpful. “Anakin told me he’d send pictures as soon as they got them.”
“Right.” Cody squinted into the sink, mentally re-evaluating the last fifteen years of knowing Anakin Skywalker.
“And, well, you know, Rex and Anakin are trying to dote on Padmé but she won’t quite let them—it’s rather amusing, really—”
Cody felt his brain grind to a stuttering halt for the second time that evening. “Wait. It’s not Anakin who—”

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thank to @ink-in-books for tagging me.
How many works do you have on AO3?
Technically, 3. Though, one is just the "smut" content of another fic. So, really, I just have the two.
2. What's your total A03 word count?
141,494 words.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
On this O3 account, just Clone Wars.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
M'dear, I only have two fics.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes, I do! Especially if they are engaging questions that ask about the world-building, the character study, or my plot.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
It isn't ended, but it has the most angst in it, and it has also left-off in the angstiest way. But, it would be Aay'han: Mournful Celebration.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
From what the readers can tell? Aay'han: Mournful Celebration because it has a clear end; it is after Order 66, so the damage has been done, and now it is time to recuperate. Nightmare for Others, Dreams for the Self ends off pretty early in the war, meaning I haven't gone over with the readers what happens. However, when I can update Nightmare for Others, I know how it will continue. And, there's gonna be some angst, but other things that will make up for Anakin's poor little life.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not yet. Though, I get a lot of comments asking me to write Cody-wan instead of, say, ObiRex.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do. I just didn't get a chance to write any for Batakin.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
No, and I don't particularly care for it, either. There's some Universes that I'd love a crossover, but I'd be picky as hell. I'd love to write a TCW and Transformers crossover!!!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No, I ain't important enough. Either is my works.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Just like Inky, I sort of did? Batakin was the love-brain child of @spacingstars and I. We were supposed to work on it together, however, I got possessive, and they were also busy with work. It ended up easier for me to just write it myself. Mournful Celebration was an event gift, and I used some things from our private roleplay together. Does that make it a co-author?
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Again, I'm like Inky, that it depends on what my interest is. In TCW, Rexwalker has risen to the top of my OTP list, and that is entirely unexpected. I came in with a very different ship that I've mostly abandoned due to just... not vibing with its community. ObiRex is still so dear to my heart, and survives in a better state than say... other ships I'm still a registered with the manifest. But, Rexwalker rose to the top. It tickles all my required ish-es. I love the potential for intrigue, for defiance of the narrative, the "solution" to so many problems found in simple places, and boyish cuteness.
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
A few that will never see the light of day because I lost interest. For the most part, I keep my WIPs down to a low. Once a WIP will no longer be finished, it isn't a WIP; it is a dropped project, and it is okay to drop them.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Long plots, contextual detail, world-building, dialogue, characterization...
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
There's some grammar things I'm weak as thinning cheap denim. I wouldn't call it a weakness, but I am not the author for anyone if they want concise, short stories.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Painful. I'd rather not. I don't like it because I'm trying to figure out the best way to convey to the reader what it translates. Including Mando'a is hard enough as it is.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Uhhh... I think a tiny little anime fandom called The Slayers. None of it will be found ever again. It has been lost to all time.
20. Favorite fic you've ever written?
Star Wars: Come From Water, which is unpublished. I am still working on it!
