Making you cry during a fight - Kaveh, Alhaitham
(part 2)
☆ ☾ ☆ ──────────────────
Kaveh
Kaveh… Had a tendency to get caught up in the moment. He says things he may not mean, does things he usually wouldn't do, entirely swept up in the tide of his emotions. He did not always pause to think things through, and it had gotten him into trouble many, many times before.
That impulsivity was a curse in this moment, when his own shouting rings in his ears, too late to take back.
The tiny, choked little sobs you let out are heart wrenching. Kaveh couldn't even remember why he was shouting a moment ago. The only thing running through his mind was the sight of your tear stricken face, and the awful guilt that came with it. He should know better than to raise his voice at you, should've known it would set you off like this.
"Sorry… S… I'm sorry…"
Any anger or frustration he felt before entirely melted away at your words. As emotional as he himself is (too emotional, according to a certain someone), it's easy to be pulled in by what you're feeling right now. The urge to leave and hide from his actions was strong, but the pull to comfort you was stronger. Let it not be said that he wouldn't face the consequences of his actions.
With little warning, he tugged you into his embrace, trying to calm you with the contact. "No, I'm sorry, I- I shouldn't have yelled at you. You didn't deserve that."
"N-no, I… I'm the one that shouldn't be crying over it."
So the both of you were blaming yourselves. Great job, Kaveh, look what you did…
"You shouldn't be crying, but only because I shouldn't have made you," Kaveh told you, pulling back a bit to wipe away your tears. "Let's just agree that this won't happen again, okay? Good."
Alhaitham
You always started fights over the most idiotic things. He was lenient with it because he cared for you. Anyone else who bothered him this much would promptly be ignored. He had noise cancelling earpieces for a reason, after all. Alhaitham was an unfortunately busy man, so he'd rather not spend his downtime bickering with you. Didn't he do that enough with Kaveh already?
It had been a rough day. He was rather irritable at how many tasks he'd been forced to deal with at the Akademiya - just when where they going to find a new Grand Sage so that he could stop taking over the role? Alhaitham had no desire to spend any more time working than necessary, and this simply wasn't the position he had signed up for.
Usually he would mind the way he spoke to you more carefully. You were one of very few people that he willingly chose to keep close to him, so driving you away like he did to others would be less than ideal to maintaining things the way he wanted them. Yet even he, with all his calculation, could slip up occasionally.
That is, perhaps his words were too harsh. Alhaitham certainly hadn't meant to make you cry. Yet here he stood, for once entirely unable to take action as you tried to wipe away your own tears.
He'd admit it was an unpleasant sight. There were few things that could make him feel upset or guilty in any way, that make his chest ache, but it seemed this was one of them. Usually, it didn't matter to him whether his words made someone react badly, but… Alhaitham wasn't going to deny that he regretted snapping at you.
"…Alright, come here. Let's not waste time crying," he pulled you down to sit with him, taking your hands into his, thumbs rubbing in soothing circles. "I apologize. I'll make certain not to be so blunt with you next time."
"S-sorry, I know you'd rather be reading than dealing with th-"
"Hush. No more of that line of thought. You're not a burden. I wouldn't be here if you were," it's not something you can deny. He does do his best to avoid anything troublesome, and you know it. Alhaitham leans in to press a kiss to your forehead, feather-light, and resolves to be more careful with your heart.

When you finally make it to the compound, you're grateful that it's almost deserted by the peacekeepers. There were a few around here and there, but from the hole in the fence you were about to enter through, you had a clear shot to where Sejanus was supposedly being held.
Deep breath. I've got to make this quick.
You exhale and start running, light on your feet with a crowbar in hand, either to break the bars or swing at anyone who tries to stop you from freeing him. Crouched down next to the wall now, you peek in the barred window to one of their many interrogation rooms. Nothing. He has to be in one of these, so you slide over against the wall to look in the next window. At least you didn't have to go far.
"Sejanus." You whisper through the open window, seeing that he's alone inside. And he doesn't look good. His face is swollen, cut, and bruised. Clearly, he's been tortured, but hopefully he hadn't given up Coryo.
He looks up, dazed as if he wasn't sure he was really hearing you. "Sejanus." You repeat. "Get up, we have to go. Right now."
Before he responds, you're already attempting to pry the bars apart.
"Y/N?" He says quietly, stumbling to get up as he makes his way over to the window.
"Yeah, it's me." You nod quickly. "Now how were you going to open these bars for that girl? We don't have much time."
"Uh, okay, uh... Give it to me." He says, gesturing for you to hand him the tool, which you quickly slide through the bars. As soon as he takes it you're digging in your bag, pulling out a hammer to see if you can help pull them out with the backend.
He's much stronger than you, so it doesn't take long for him to yank out three of them- just enough for him to fit through. He moves a chair over to help himself climb out, and you pull him the rest of the way, both of you falling back into the dirt.
You're grabbing him as soon as you get your footing, and you're both sprinting for the hole in the fence where you entered, hidden behind the generator shed. You run until you get to the treeline, stopping to catch your breath once you're out of sight. You don't believe anyone saw you. You're home free.
Panting, hands pressed on your knees, you look over at Sejanus who collapsed into the grass, chest heaving from the exertion. His injuries likely didn't help. "We gotta keep going." You breathe, throat stinging.
"Yeah, I know..." He agrees, clearly just as out of breath. He was in better shape than you, but you assume his injuries are no help. "Why did you do it?" He adds, sitting up and pressing a hand to his chest as if that will help slow his heartbeat.
"What?"
"Come save me." He takes a quick, shaky breath. "You could have been caught, they would kill you too."
"I won't bury another friend." You answer, standing up straight again with a shake of your head. It was a stretch to call Arachne, Felix, or the Twins your friends, but they were just about the closest thing you had to it besides him and Coryo. "You didn't do anything worth killing you over."
Sejanus squints at the sun as he breaks a small smile, looking up at you. "Thank you."
"Anytime." You nod, readjusting the bag over your shoulder. "Now, we gotta get out of here. I don't know where we're gonna hide until morning, but...”
"We?" He asks, brow furrowed as he gets up, dusting off his blue peacekeeper jumpsuit.
"Yes." You confirm. "The four of us are gonna go, without anyone else who was there last night."
"Four..." He hums to himself. "Me, you..."
"Lucy Gray and Coriolanus." You nod, finishing the thought for him.
"I... why?"
You sigh, looking past the trees back to the base. "They're looking for the guns that killed Mayfair and Billy Taupe. The mayor is deadset that it was Lucy Gray, but if they find the guns it'll be both her and Coryo who are killed for it. And I... just aided a rebel escape." You explain, smiling a little as you point to yourself. "And released all those birds. My fingerprints are probably all over those cages, that's probably treason."
"You..?" Sejanus asks, shock crossing his features. "You set them free?"
"Yeah." You nod matter-of-factly. "God, it feels so good to tell someone too. I wouldn't have gotten any credit otherwise."
"Why?" He asks, tilting his head at you.
You shrug. "Wanted to piss off Coryo. It worked, didn't it?"
"Kinda..." He gives you a weird look you can't quite decipher.
"Anyway, let's get going. We have to get Lucy Gray."
"Why are we waiting until morning?" He asks, and you can't help but feel it's somewhat of a stupid question. He's also literally a peacekeeper.
"Coryo can't leave until dawn." You explain. "Probably has to spend the rest of the day hunting you down, now..." You say, mulling over the words as they leave your mouth. Maybe it wasn't the best idea to stick around, but you weren't leaving without Coryo. "Actually, why don't you go ahead?"
"I... Well..." He looks back over his shoulder at the camp as it disappears between the trees, both of you walking deeper into the woods to take the long way back to Lucy Gray's meadow.
"When we get to the meadow there's a pretty clear path out to this lake and cabin in the woods. About three hours walk on that knee, you could be there by supper time, spend the night there and we'll meet you there in the morning." You tell him. "No one knows about it spare for the Covey. You'll be safe there tonight."
"Okay. Yeah, that's a better idea." He agrees, following along after you through the woods.
The night couldn't have gone by slower. Curled up under the trees on the far side of the meadow, you and Lucy Gray hardly said a word to one another but you knew neither one of you was sleeping. That was, until just before you had to leave to meet Coryo. You felt a little guilty for waking her up when she had only just fallen asleep, soft snores falling from her lips until you shook her awake.
Groggily, the two of you made your way to the hanging tree, a clearing in the woods near the peacekeepers compound. It was a haunting area, to be certain. You didn't dare say a word, in case the Jabberjays were to make an echo of it.
You sat down behind the tree just before the sun was set to rise, letting Lucy Gray lean her head on your shoulder to try and get a bit more sleep before Coriolanus showed up. But again, that wouldn't be long.
It was a solid half hour, and the sky was in the middle of its slow shift from orange to blue when you heard footsteps approaching. You both stood quickly, backs pressed to the tree. You peak around it, relieved to see it was him.
"Coryo." You whisper, smiling softly and pulling him into a hug.
"Hey, Y/N/N..." He hums, rubbing your back gently. You can still see the sleep in his eyes; at least one of you got some rest.
"Alright." You sigh, turning to face Lucy Gray before gesturing in the direction of the woods. "Lead the way."
She nods, small smile forming on her face as she looks up at your boyfriend. You had to assume that's what he was to you now- friends don't do what you do.
The two of you follow after her for miles, as quickly but as quietly as possible. It's hard to think about the fact that you're leaving your whole life behind, so you just don't. You zone out as your feet crunch through the now familiar underbrush of the woods, thinking of what the future will hold. Not what it will lack.
It'll lack structure, no doubt, but you'll have all the freedom the world has to offer. You don't know where you'll go, but you can't help but daydream about building a cabin out of the woods, maybe by another lake, where you and Coryo could live together forever. Maybe you'd learn how to make new clothes with materials you find, if you could find any, or maybe you would start your garden again and grow all kinds of beautiful natural flowers alongside almost all of your food. Maybe Coriolanus would become a proficient hunter, and all you would have to do is lay in the sun and look pretty, occasionally gathering things from your garden to go with his catch for dinner. Maybe you'd grow raspberries and wild roses.
Maybe you'd have a child. A little boy he could teach how to speak as eloquently as he does, or hunt as successfully as he will. Maybe it'll be a little girl, who he can dote over while you tend to your garden, and teach her songs you learned from the Covey. She'll be a beautiful singer, a beautiful girl with Coryo's blonde hair and blue eyes to die for. Regardless, you can tell your kids about your lives. About home, about where you grew up and what life used to be. About the uncle they have back home but will never meet, and about your friends who you lost. About Arachne, and Felix, and the twins, about the games and about Sejanus who needed saving more often than not and about how you were both full of pride when your tribute won, Lucy Gray.
Lucy Gray.
You're snapped out of your daydreams within a moment. You don't know how long you had been lost in your own mind, imagining a life that doesn't exist, but by now, Coryo was walking a few feet ahead of you with her.
The endearing smile on her face that you can see only when she turns her head to look at him is making you uneasy. She would be there, you won't have to tell your kids about her because she will be there. That's not necessarily a bad thing, Lucy Gray is lovely, and by now you consider her a friend. But maybe she's too lovely. Maybe Coriolanus considers her a friend too, it's clear he does. He has much of a right to as you do, you both saved her life, but mostly him. He pulled the strings, you just helped however you were asked to and more. He decided that her life was worth risking both his and yours to save.
Maybe she meant more to him than you thought. Maybe she is what brought him to Twelve. Maybe, he got to choose and he chose her moments after "choosing" to throw your life away in front of you. He chose her.
"Are you thinking about Sejanus?" She asks, and it's the first bit of their conversation you catch.
"He's fine. Not too injured, he should be waiting at the cabin. I said we'd meet him there." You interject, reminding them of something they already knew.
"I just wish it hadn't come to that." Coryo replies, looking back at you for a fraction of a second before turning back to Lucy Gray. "Sorry, you had to leave this place." He adds after a few moments of silence.
"I'll miss the Covey." She hums, "I hope they'll follow me someday, though." You look at the orange scarf draped over her shoulders, a pit of unease settling uncomfortably just behind your ribs.
"You know what I won't miss? People." Coryo says, and you hum in agreement.
"People aren't so bad. Not really." Lucy Gray shrugs. "It's what the world does to them, like all of us in the arena. I think there's a natural goodness born into us all."
Both of you scoff in practical unison. If you had to guess, it was quite the opposite.
"No, really. You can either... cross that line, into evil... or not. And it's our life's work to stay on the right side of that line."
"It's not always that simple." Coryo replies, looking back at you with something indecipherable behind his stare. Pity? An acknowledgment of your nature being something unworldly in her description? You bite your tongue.
"I know. I'm a victor." Lucy Gray says with a click of her tongue, distaste dripping from her tone. "It sure will be nice to not have to kill anyone else out north though, huh?"
"Two and a half is enough for me." Coryo chuckles, stopping as she continues ahead. You stop with him. "I'm gonna make a walking stick. You want one?" He offers to you, picking up a tree branch from the underbrush.
"I'm fine, thanks." You smile, watching as he tries to brush it off and wincing when he sticks himself on the wood.
"Three? Who's the third?" Lucy Gray asks, turning slowly up ahead.
"You okay?" You ask, ignoring her as he sucks his thumb into his mouth to stop the bleeding you already saw begin.
"What?"
"-Person you killed, Coriolanus. You said you killed three people I only know about two. Do not lie to me." Her voice is harsh. Accusatory. And you don't like it one bit.
"He said two and a half." You chuckle hesitantly, eyeing the girl up and down at her drastic change in attitude. You didn't know who he was talking about either, but you were the one with a hot temper and you wouldn't even react like that.
"Can you help me get this out?" He asks, taking a few steps over to her in effort to distract her from the question.
"Here." You stop him with a gentle hand on his arm. "Let me look..." He stops, looking between the two of you as you take his hand, looking down at the splinter in his thumb.
"There was Bobbin, in the arena, and Mayfair, and who's the third?" Lucy Gray continues, only escalating in her upset over nothing.
Coryo locks eyes with you for a moment, and you raise your eyebrows slightly to try and portray your antipathy with her reaction.
"My old self." He speaks, looking back over at her as you gently try and push the splinter out from under his skin. "I killed him, so I could come with you girls."
"And Sejanus." You giggle, trying to lighten the mood and also distract him from you using your nail to pull the splinter out. It looked painful. "Also, I would say your old self is half of you. Well put."
Lucy Gray clearly wasn't buying it. You could see it in her face as he hissed at you finally getting it out. "There you go." You hum, squeezing his hand gently as it was still cradled in between yours.
"Thank you, Darling." He smiles, pulling back his hand and patting your arm, gesturing to the faded path ahead. "C'mon."
You try your hardest not to glare as you catch up with Lucy Gray, Coryo's arm now rested comfortably over your shoulder.
The rain picked up into a downpour, further softening the ground you were walking on.
"Why don't we stop here at the cabin? Wait out the storm." Coryo suggests as the cabin comes into view up ahead.
"Ugh, please." You agree, already attempting to flatten your soaked hair that is frizzing up from the rain and the humidity.
"We should really keep goin'." Lucy Gray cuts in, making you roll your eyes.
"We're gonna need food on the way." Coryo insists. "Let's catch some fish while we're here." Even if you got to sit in the cabin for a few minutes, it would be well worth it to try and dry off just a bit.
"Sejanus!" You call out as you climb up the steps. "It's us! You okay?" You push open the door, finally feeling like you're able to breathe out of the rain until you realize he's not there. "Sejanus?" You ask, looking around the only corner in the small cabin.
"Not here?" Coryo asks and you shake your head, brow furrowed.
"No..." You hum, peeking out the window. "He must be nearby though. We'll have to wait for him to get back."
"If you wanted fish, there's rods under the floorboards." Lucy Gray says, completely ignoring you and closing the door as she's the last to enter.
Coryo nods, stomping around on the floor to check for which ones were loose. "These ones?"
"Uh-huh." Lucy Gray nods at him, watching as he kneels down to lift the old wooden planks.
"You gonna stay in here, Y/N/N? Dry up a bit?" He asks you and you nod, giving him a small smile. In the corner of your eye you can see Lucy Gray looking at you. She doesn't necessarily look mad, but something is just so... off.
You can't help but wonder if all her negative energy she's putting out is because of you. Not literally, because you remember her being so sweet when you were alone. Is she mad because of you and Coryo? That has to be it. What happened to the girl who helped you write a love song to him and encourage you to sing it?
She helped write it. She was dead set on writing it, actually. You provided the tune and she did most of the rest. You were never much of a poet. She wrote that song to him- you were just the voice she used to tell him. You were a puppet to her, and suddenly your wrists ache from the mere idea that she manipulated you in that way.
The floorboards creak underneath you as you sit down, leaning against the wall. If Lucy Gray was going to be handing out dirty looks, you could too. You lock eyes with her, trying to maintain some semblance of a smile, but you just stare at each other.
Within seconds it's evident that any bit of trust you had for one another is gone. That just won't do if you were running away together. She had to go.
She's the first to cower away from the staring contest, of course, when Coryo stands up again.
"What is it?" She asks him, and as you look, you see he's holding the gun.
You gasp, shooting up from where you had just settled on the ground. "Is that?"
"It's the gun." He answers before you finish your question, an expression of shock and relief embedded in his features.
"The one you fired at Mayfair." Lucy Gray gathers, seeming as she wasn't there. "Spruce must've known about this place." She shrugs, avoiding your gaze completely. "Well, you destroy that gun you're free. You can go back home."
You and Coryo look at each other, unsure what to do or say. He could go back, he was home free. But leaving you with her? And poor Sejanus who was out in the rain somewhere either dead or limping on an almost useless knee? No chance.
"Will you?" She asks.
"No more loose ends..." He nods a little to himself, looking down at the gun in his hands. You poke your tongue into your cheek and look down at the floor. He's actually considering leaving you behind.
"Besides us." You look at Lucy Gray through narrowed eyes as she speaks. What was she trying to imply? You would never do that to him. You figured that was pretty obvious.
"Besides you?" Coryo asks, looking between the two of you. When his eyes land on you he’s more worried, with something more accusatory when they glue on to Lucy Grayverifying your perspective that yes, he knows you would never do that. "You wouldn't tell anyone." He says to her, but it comes out more as a question.
She hesitates before shaking her head with a smile that's so anger inducing you'd like to throw her in the lake and watch her drown. "Course not..." She tops it off with, and you tick your head to the right.
"I mean, it's not like anyone would really believe you." You state. "They're all convinced it was you who pulled the trigger."
"I'm just gonna go dig up some Katniss. There's a good patch down by the lake." She ignores you again. Am I missing something? Am I fucking invisible?
"Thought it was too early for that." Coryo reminds her, and the nervous smile on his face brings you hope that he also knows something is off.
"Well, the world changes awful fast." Even so much as her heavy district accent is driving you up the wall at this point. It's hardly even english.
"Lucy Gray. It's still raining." Coryo pleads with her and you eye the knife in her hand, taking a small step closer to his side.
"Well, I'm not made outta sugar." Lucy Gray says, smiling innocently before turning and walking out, closing the door behind her.
You both stand there in silence for a few moments, him staring at the gun, you staring at him.
"It was Sejanus." He says so quietly you can hardly make it out from under a yard away.
"Huh?"
"I sent a recording of his confession to Dr. Gaul. I was the reason they were going to..." He can't even say it.
"You?" You whisper back. "I... no. That's not your fault."
"It is."
You shake your head, reaching out to gently lower the gun so you can place your hand on his cheek. "It's not, but it doesn't matter anyways because he is out here, with us, and we're gonna be okay. He's gonna be fine, and you're gonna be fine. Yeah?" You assure him, smiling softly as you run your thumb over his cheekbone.
"Yeah..." He mumbles, relaxing under your touch.
"Will you go home?" You ask, chewing nervously on your bottom lip. You really, really didn't want him to leave you out here alone. You wouldn't survive and you knew that.
Coryo looks down at you, shaking his head softly. "No. Not without you. I told you that."
"I'm sorry."
"Sorry? No, no. Don't be sorry. We're doing the right thing." He promises.
"You think?"
"I know." He smiles. "Don't you trust me?"
"More than anything." You whisper. "But I have one... fear, I guess." You say, rubbing your forearm nervously and looking out the window.
"What is it?"
"Oh, no. It's nothing. I think I'm just being crazy." You chuckle, going over to the window to look out now.
"Y/N, what are you afraid of?" Coryo's tone is serious now, and you have to fight back a smile.
"Well, I was just thinking on the walk out here... Like, what will happen to us, what will we do, you know?" You start, letting the smile slip through at the memory of your daydreams. "I'm thinking we'll build a house out here, a little bigger than this one, but not a whole lot, and I'll have a garden and grow our food and some roses just for you, and we'll just have a happy little life."
The crease of worry in his forehead morphs into one of confusion as he smiles. "What? Then what are you afraid of? That sounds lovely."
"Well... And like I said, I'm sure I'm just being crazy, but Lucy Gray... I just feel like she doesn't want that for us." You say, looking up at him and scanning his face for a reaction.
"Why not?"
"I don't know! That's why it's making me feel crazy because it's so out of character for her but she's been really mean to me all day. Like, I don't know if you've noticed but she's been ignoring me or glaring at me and when she snapped earlier about what you said and I just... Yeah. It's not sitting right with me." You try and wave it off with a nervous smile, but Coryo's eyes are locked on the window, deep in thought.
"Do you think she was using us?" You ask him, when you can see that you're getting in his head. "I mean, from the beginning. She is a performer, after all. Maybe it was all a show, and she didn't want us to come here and she's been waiting for a chance to get rid of us ever since, but now she's stuck with us for the rest of all of our lives. I feel almost... unsafe."
Coryo looks over at you now, eyes cold.
"Okay, and actually, what the hell was that that just happened? She would totally go back and tell them it was you! That was the fakest reaction I have ever seen, and I was friends with Arachne and Clemensia for years!" You laugh bitterly. "Like, who's to say she wouldn't run straight back to town and tell them you shot Mayfair and exactly where to find me? I'm sure my father put out a reward!"
"You're not crazy." He mumbles, joining you at the window with the gun gripped tighter in his hands.
"You don't think so?" You ask, painting on the puppy dog eyes as you look up at him.
"No." Coryo shakes his head slightly, looking through the window to where you both know the katniss patch is, and Lucy Gray is nowhere to be seen.
"...She's been gone for a while." You add for good measure, and he just nods.
"Stay here. Don't come out. I'm gonna get rid of these." He says, picking up the bag of guns and walking out the door.
You huff at the seriousness of his tone and sit back down on the ground, leaning back against the wall. You really wish you had taken a towel from the house or something to attempt at drying your hair or warming your skin, but the only thing you had time to pack in your rush yesterday was those tools and your clothes from home. Most of the backpack was full of that coat Tigris gave you, folded up as small as you could possibly get it at the bottom. It was beautiful, and real, and you could tell it meant something to her so you wouldn't dare use it as a towel. Besides, it probably wouldn't be very effective anyway.
But, the Covey did always come out here to swim, so maybe there was one lying around here somewhere. Under another loose floorboard, or something.
While you're looking, you hear Coriolanus's voice fading as he calls out for Lucy Gray. Clearly, she wasn't at the katniss patch like she said she would be.
Maybe she did run back. She had a solid head start on you guys if she did, and as you scrap your task of looking for a towel to swing the door open, you freeze. Coryo told you to stay, to wait for him to come back. He's got it handled. But does he? Is he just going off to find her and they'll both run off without you?
Screw it. He'll forgive you for not listening later.
You open the door, looking out to see if you can catch a glimpse of his white shirt or blonde buzzcut anywhere, but you can't. "Lucy Gray? If something happened we can talk about it!" You hear his voice fading into the woods.
You take a hatchet from the side of the cabin, and follow the sound of his voice as best as you can, still not wanting to make your presence known.
Until you hear Coriolanus screaming. Pained screaming that makes your stomach turn in fear for his life.
"Coryo!" You break into a run toward the sound, trying to track him down with the axe clutched in your hand.
"Is that poisonous?" He shouts, and while you're absolutely panicking, you're happy to hear that he's not already dead. "Are you trying to kill me?" Much closer now, and you spot him kneeling on the ground a little ways away. "Lucy Gray!" His voice flipped from pained to angry like a switch, but you knew he was already on the brink. You designed it, after all. "I said, are you trying to kill me?!"
"Coryo, Coryo what happened?" You ask, running up and dropping to your knees in front of him as he starts to laugh, tears streaming down his cheeks. "Hey, look at me, what happened?"
He ignores your question, chest heaving as he clutches the scarf in his hands. It was a beautiful, orange silk that was now completely muddy and destroyed from being on the wet, muddy ground.
"Are you hurt?" You ask, dropping the hatchet and reaching for his face instead while he holds the crumpled-up fabric to his face.
"Snake." He chuckles dryly, shaking his head. It turns quickly into his shoulders quaking as he sobbed into the material.
"Hey, okay, okay. Let me see. Let me see it. Where are you bit?" You ask, trying to look him over.
When it's clear you won't get a better answer out of him, you stand up, picking the small tool up again, feeling the shift of the wood as it turns into a weapon in your grip.
"Lucy Gray?" You call out, trying to quell the shakiness of anger into something soothing. "You don't need to hide! Come talk to me. I'm not going to hurt you..."
You stop a few feet away from your friend, looking at the area around you and wishing you could see through the trees. "He didn't mean to scare you, Hun!" You adjust your grip on the wet handle of the weapon sitting heavy in your palm.
"Lucy Gray!" You yell, unable to hide the frustration in your tone as you walk further into the woods. "Did you do it on purpose?!"
A few more steps, and you hear twigs cracking a ways to your right. You quickly look, but see nothing. "Fine, Lucy Gray. If you want to play Hunger Games, we can play Hunger Games..." You settle the hatchet between both hands now, lifting it up to your shoulder as you walk toward the sound. "Don't forget, we survived it too."
"Y/N." You hear Coryo's voice behind you and you turn to look at him. He gives a quick whistle, nodding for you to come back to him as he stands with the gun back in his hands.
You look around quickly again before backing up to meet him halfway. His eyes are bloodshot, and he's breathing heavily. You can see it in the tense rise and fall of his shoulders.
He steps in front of you, nudging you behind him with his elbow as he lifts the gun. A twig snaps a little ways away, and by the time you look past him and catch a glimpse at Lucy Gray's dress between the trees he's already fired the gun.
She yelps, stumbling and falling behind some bushes. You grip the small axe tighter, brushing past him to go to her. To make sure the job is finished.
"Y/N. No." Coryo barks at you, voice stern. "Go back to the cabin, gather our stuff. I'll handle it."
You nod, glancing at him only briefly before following his direction and heading back toward the cabin.
You open the door, sighing with a small smile on your face. "Y/N? What happened? I heard a shot."
You're confronted with Sejanus standing inside now. You just stare at him in your shock. You had completely forgotten about him, Coryo must have as well.
When you don't reply, he speaks again. "I just was looking around to see what direction we should go from here, I came back as soon as I heard it."
Your eyes narrow as you look at him, eyes flitting back and forth while you decide what to say.
"Where's Coryo? And Lucy Gray?"
You glance back over your shoulder out the still open door.
"Y/N..." He mumbles, concern riddling his face. "Did he... did he do something to her?"
The silence that falls in the room is suddenly thick, and heavy, and it changes everything.
"Is she..."
You tighten your hold on the hatchet, shaking any reason out of your head. "No loose ends."
"Loose ends..?" Sejanus asks, taking a step back from you. "I won't- I won't tell anyone, there's no one for me to tell... but you have to understand he's dangerous right now."
"Lucy Gray," You take a step closer, lightly swinging the weapon. "Was plotting against us. You have to understand, he didn't have a choice. So I don't either."
"Y/N, you do." He holds his hands up defensively between the two of you. "You can be better. You don't want to do this, okay? You're just... panicking, and I get that, but let's just talk. Okay? We can sort it out." His voice is shaking now.
You bite into your cheek. "No. You're not one of us. You've made that very clear, Sejanus." You shake your head, raising the axe over your shoulder. "We, are going to have our own house, our own family, and I am going to have my own garden, and I am sick of people trying to stop me." You say through gritted teeth, taking steps closer with every statement.
"Y/N, I won't stop you. We're best friends, I know you don't want-" His panicked pleas are halted as his back hits the wall behind him, and you hear several more shots fire out in the woods. You look back for just a second before snapping your eyes back to your friend.
"Run." You tell him, tossing the hatchet onto the ground a few feet away in a moment of weakness.
"Y/N, I can't leave you out here with him like this. I just-"
"Sejanus, run." You tell him again, taking in the fear and panic on his face.
He nods, and you let him walk past you to the door. He stops, and you both turn to face each other at the same time. As you look at his beat up, sad face, you know you'll never see him again and your eyes start to well up with tears that you quickly blink away.
Before you know it, he's pulling you into a hug. "Thank you," He mumbles as you hesitate to hug him back. "For everything."
"I'm sorry." Is all you can muster up, whispering it as you rest your chin on his shoulder.
He pulls away, patting your shoulders gently. "Your garden will be beautiful." He smiles weakly, voice still shaking as he turns and walks out of your sight. Hopefully, for the last time.

Frosthawk Moments - Canon
So I made some gifs from some scenes in the first Avengers movie that no one ever talks about. I think most people have completely missed it because I've never actually seen anyone comment on it.
This:
Tumblr media
Clint Barton actually hits Loki!
CLINT. HIT. LOKI.
That bullet hits—and then ricochets, and then Loki reacts like this:
Tumblr media
He immediately retaliates, and if Clint hadn't ducked out of the way because he's incredibly good at that, he would have been obliterated head-on!
And as we all remember, Clint then gets back up after everyone else has been knocked down, and this moment happens here:
Tumblr media
And this? This is when Clint realizes that Loki is far stronger than he was expecting—it's a great bit of acting on Renner's part, because you can see him realize 'holy crap, this guy is something else entirely'. Canonically, Hawkeye is the strongest of all the agents without any 'extras' and he's always been able to handle himself and this is the first time he's been up against something like this.
You can see his expression go from "ow, that hurts" to "wait...what the fuck?" and it's just so damn brilliant.
I always had the thought that Loki was getting irritated because he's aimed at the guy more than twice and not only did Clint dodge, but he got back up to keep fighting! Loki's literally thinking, You keep getting back up! Stop it!
...and I have always been certain that this was the moment he saw something in him.
This is why he said, "You have heart."
I genuinely think Loki was planning on killing him up until that point, but when he saw that this human had such a drive and passion to fight, he knew that this was the right person to protect him. I would like to remind people that Loki was actually still severely incapacitated, it just didn't seem that way because he was still stronger compared to humans.
Then in the scene that occurs right before the deleted scene (which explains so much more) we have this:
Tumblr media
Look at how Loki looks at him, almost as though he's measuring just how adept he is and how smart he is. This is when Clint is explaining how he chose the location because they need the three levels of lead-lined flooring to keep S.H.I.E.L.D. from finding the cube. This is Loki realizing he chose the right person because right after this we hear him see, "I see why Fury chose you to guard it," acknowledging just how smart and adaptive he is.
And then there's an entire scene between the two of them that was cut from the final draft.
Which never. Should have been. DELETED.
Take this for instance:
Tumblr media
You see all of those people? You see all of that massive set up??
NONE OF THAT WAS LOKI.
Everything that you see in the planning throughout the rest of the Avengers movie that seemed to be Loki was all Clint Barton outsmarting and outwitting S.H.I.E.L.D. He was the one who even came up with the plan for Loki to purposely get himself captured!!
Now let's talk about this scene here:
Tumblr media
"I want to know everything you can tell me about this team of his. I would...test their' mettle."
Like...HELLO??? This tells us right here that Clint was the one who gave up all the information and told Loki everything about all of the Avengers! We can glean from the fact that we saw Clint in the first Thor movie (with Coulson) that he has been fully aware of the Avengers way before anyone else knew about it.
He had the most information besides Coulson. Which means that Loki went into his "capture" already knowing all about Clint and Nat's relationship, which also allows us to deduce that he also knew that Natasha was playing him from the beginning! He knew she would figure it out, so he was stalling for time—and that was it!
Then we have this:
Tumblr media
Clint: "If you're set on making yourself known...could be useful." Loki: "Tell me what you need."
This is the dialogue that takes place here, and it explains so much. The way they originally cut the movie, it jumps from the scene with Selvig to the dialogue at the tail end of this deleted scene—which now, if you rewatch the movie, you will see is a glaringly obvious cut.
But this entire deleted scene sets up the rest. of the freaking. MOVIE.
This deleted scene shows us that Hawkeye was the mastermind behind not only taking down the helicarrier with only a few arrows, but also the one who planned the entire attack...just to get Loki back out after he triggered the Hulk.
Fury (over comms): "It's Barton. He took out our systems. He's headed for the detention level!"
ALL. CLINT'S. PLAN.
I am of the mind why they cut this scene was solely to put the blame on Loki, because if they had kept this scene in it would have become painfully obvious that Loki wouldn't have made it as far on his own and only made it so far because of Clint.

The air in the room was chilly, rippling your soft skin, warmed by the afternoon spent with your lover. He had convinced you to go with him, in the temple where you served as a priestess; interrupting you during one of your long prayers. You had not chosen to stay there: the local believers had entrusted you to the mother priestess immediately after finding you alone near the city gates, condemning you to a life of prayer, more uncomfortable clothes than anything else and chastity. But everything changed when you met a bizarre man who was looking for lodging for the night. His hair was styled in a very loose way, his eyes bore the beauty of a thousand freshly bloomed lotus flowers, while his expression went from calm to frustrated as the man crushed the candy in his mouth instead of melting it with the tongue. "Damn lollipops, I can never finish one without biting it"
His name was Buddha, a name that seemed to you at the time to fit his person. And yet, even if on the outside you were maintaining a calm expression, typical of a priestess, inside you were exploding with annoyance: the so-called Buddha would not stop filling you with questions, making you confused about the right path to take and refusing to leave you alone with the your thoughts. "So...why shut yourself up in a temple?"
"I already told you, my parents wanted it"
You were careful to keep the truth well hidden, avoiding the risk of making your temple look bad, painting it as a home for orphans; the other priestesses had been far too clear about it.
"Why don't you leave?"
"Why should I?"
"Your hate can be felt for miles, the stench is even stronger near you!" he said throwing her head back and holding his nose, leaving you shocked, eyes wide and mouth agape.
"Who the hell is this lad?" you thought as you tried to process the scene before you. A shiver ran down your spine: if you were really that easy to read, then you were doing a terrible job of not arousing suspicion from others. Leaving that cage was your dream since you were a child; you prayed to the gods every day to send you an angel ready to lift you up and take you away, far, far away, from the mother priestess and the strong smell of sandalwood incense. A caged bird, fed out of compassion, that's how you felt.
"We're here"
Your voice was hard, firm, you had gone from being a precious lily to seeming like an imposing elm; Buddha felt the change in the air, perhaps he had exaggerated provoking you like that, or the bastard was aiming for just that reaction...
After all, it was his job to guide anyone who felt lost: your poor soul had ventured into the maze of darkness, a thick shadow full of life. "But where's the shadow, there's light"
You looked at him again confused, judiciously before opening your mouth again: "Excuse me?"
"Ah! Nothing!" the stranger became defensive, exactly like a cat that is seen rummaging in the garbage.
"Weird"
"Rude!"
**✿❀○❀✿**
That little meeting of yours, even if it seemed strange and completely out of place, would have been the beginning of something much more beautiful. The only problem was, you didn't know it yet.
His stay made you go through all the colors of rage, even making you sweat blood from the nerves that the Buddha made you feel. Apparently, the mother priestess had well thought of entrusting her care to you; who seeks finds and who finds keeps, right?
Bullshit, that was. The great abbess simply didn't feel like moving her ass off her soft pillow, so she left the heavy lifting to her only submissive, one submissive enough to follow her every whim. You.
"Perfect..." you whispered as you picked up the newcomer's dirty clothes from the floor, placing them in a hand-woven basket
"...just perfect"
Your gaze turned sad all of a sudden. It was precisely in moments like this that the chains wrapped around your body pulled the most, tearing you both inside and out, and the mother priestess was the very one who had tied them to you the same day she locked you in there. She kept you on a leash like a little dog, but you didn't have the courage to oppose it, how could you? Let's say you had found the courage to rebel and finally leave... and then what? What would you have done alone?
"Nothing!"
Screaming might have relieved you of some tension, even tearing off your ceremonial dress and throwing it on the ground helped. So that's exactly what you did, opening in a short space of time that armor you'd built up over the years.
The dress hit the floor exactly as an archer's arrow pierces a target, making a dry, muffled sound. Inside you there was a storm going on, the same one that was now making you cry tears of anger, hot, but cold when they fell on your bare skin.
"You'll catch a cold like this"
Panic. Your mind began to invoke all the gods you knew of, repeating mantras, turning your head into a temple and your body stiff as wooden planks. The terror that one of the priests had seen you like that made you more afraid than death: he would immediately have you considered a heretic, only to excommunicate you under the contemptuous eyes of heaven.
Tears began to cloud your eyes again, remaining motionless staring at the dark wall of the small room; fear refused to make you turn and face the man before you. It was over. Head of the line for the crazed little priestess.
"Here"
Buddha said in a tender voice, then warm, this time not on your face but on your shoulders. At that point, you couldn't take it anymore and turned your head only to meet a pair of lotus eyes, deep and curious, the same ones who had captured you few hours before. "Thank you" you mutter trying to calm your nerves, but the thing was, you didn't know how to react at all. "Go on" he urged you to walk, nudging you slowly, carrying you through the silent corridors of the temple, the floorboards at your feet creaking with almost every step.
Buddha made you sit on his mat, closing the door and making sure no one was spying; once quiet, he sighed, sitting next to you, waiting for you to speak. A few seconds passed before you decided to breathe your mouth, without even trying to maintain the mask of a devout believer, you had been unmasked. "I never wanted this and you shouldn't have see me like...that"
The man only hummed. He still wanted to hear more, uh?
"They found me nearby, in a lute basket. I had no choice"
"You have now"
Those words hit you in the heart, punching it. You should have packed a sweat towel, because that conversation was about to become a duel where the sharpest word would win, hands down. But what exactly does it mean to win? You didn't want to be there, that's enough, it was obvious. Maybe you didn't just want to show your restrictions, those that perhaps the Abbess hadn't put on you, but Fear itself.
"Why don't you join me? Better than staying here, isn't it?"
"Can I? Really?"
In Buddha's eyes, you were exactly a beautiful canary whose cage was being opened, even if you carried the rage of a hungry wolf inside. His soul softened, feeling affection and pity for you, which translated into a sincere smile. Your cheeks turned red instantly: living like that, you had never experienced sensations other than negative ones and you had lost every shred of wonder, yet his smile had moved something inside you. It was contagious and even your lips curled up.
That night changed everything, turning your life upside down like the bad pancakes Buddha tried to cook from time to time. You two decided to leave immediately, at the following dawn to be precise, escaping into the thickets and dodging the threats of all the priests. Your smile was dazzling, with Buddha running dragging you with his hand tight around yours.
"HURRY UP!"
"GOT IT"
"THEY JUST THREW ME A PAN"
Freedom was sweet, mighty. It crept under your skin with every stride you took towards the temple exit, while Buddha - strictly with a new candy in the mouth - had the same dreamy eyes of someone reliving distant memories.
**✿❀○❀✿**
And here you are, years later, still together as the duo you were. Embraced in a hotel room where you have found shelter for the night, outside a stormy wind was blowing, which made the leaves of the trees whistle like freshly launched darts. "It's getting cold" you whispered in his ear, ready to get up to go get another blanket. Those days had been particularly stormy and had made the lives of travelers like you difficult. Finding that little inn in the woods had been like a blessing, as if some angel had smiled at you. In front of your aching legs and empty stomach, a clean bed meant a glimmer of sunshine amidst the raindrops.
"I heard they have spas downstairs, we could try them"
Buddha's voice was honeyed, like the candy cane that he was tossing with his tongue. You felt like eating his lips, stealing it from his mouth and playing a little, but no one was snatching the beloved snacks from the Buddha, he would rather throw the bed at you than follow you all the way to the hot springs. So, you went with that option because, hey, you only live once, right?
Your loved one couldn't even complain since you were inspired by one of his lessons. Your head rose slowly, approaching his like a tiger stalking its prey; he guessed and grinned playfully before speaking: "You just can't resist me"
"No, I can't!" you answered with an innocent smile, melting Buddha's heart. You were so beautiful: with your cheeks still dyed red, your hair a little disheveled and your skin still marked by his signs of love. He couldn't resist you either, so he decided to humor you and kiss you, in such a romantic way that for a moment you wondered if it was really your man and not a double.
His tongue danced with yours, while his hands rested lazily on your back, leaving some courtesy caresses. Buddha didn't even have time to realize it, that all the fire of your skin against his was instinctive as if they had thrown a bucket of water over it. His lids - closed before - had opened as soon as he felt a gust of air against his chest. A moment of silence, then he shifted his attention to the door to your open room and the trail of a blanket disappearing behind the wall. Confusion, realization, and then: "O-Oi! My candy!"
A breathless chase around the hotel began, where you darted in amusement with the candy stuck in your teeth, trying not to choke yourself on it by mistake, while Buddha was moaning behind you, chasing you with devotion. These little moments were your favorite and even better was the way they played out.
In a short time, the sliding door of the indoor spa could already be glimpsed and you jumped in as if there were no tomorrow. Paying attention to the floor of large stones, you made your way towards the largest pool; you started to turn, ready for your lover's angry expression, but he pounced on you at the first opportunity, throwing both of your bodies into the hot water. "Bad girl! That's no good!" he scolded you in a playful way, splashing you with water.
"Tell the truth, you liked it"
"You stole my dessert so it's impossible"
Buddha answered you, before taking off his soaked trousers to throw them near the edge of the tub, huffing lightly.
"I'll make it up to you, then"
A sensual smirk crept onto your face, while your (e/c) became veiled in lust, as if a goddess of love were manipulating you like a puppet. The man grinned as he felt his sweetheart's hands push him towards the edge of the perimeter, where he was trapped by your arms. The water rippled in concentric circles with your every step, while its roar colored the air together with the further sound of the small waterfalls. "So get started now, you'll be busy"
Buddha whispered in a deep voice, using the strength in his arms to sit on the marble edge, making you immediately collide with the sight of his already partially erect cock. You held his length in your hand, you could feel his warmth, how the pulse beat under your skin. Buddha had a little spasm when you kissed him, you smiled when you saw him tilt his head back and moan. But you wanted to own him, leave an indelible mark on the man.
You started using your tongue and it made him jump. Oh Gods, it was hard. Working with your mouth, you licked it from base to tip, smiling between various moans. You tasted the crown with your tongue, it tasted sweet and salty at the same time, then you kissed up and down. You moistened your lips before dipping it in your mouth, you did it looking Buddha straight in the eyes. His hand worked its way through your hair and grasping it, tried to guide you gently, up and down the length, cheeks slightly sunken as you massaged the part you couldn't reach.
"Fuck" moaned the man, who came after a few minutes. Every sound that came out of his mouth was like a drug for you, making you suddenly blush as you felt his seed flooding your throat. A choked sound came out of your mouth at first, then you swallowed it all to regain your title of good girl.
"You came...so much..." you huffed, looking up at him with eyes slightly closed.
Desire possessed Buddha, prompting him to immerse himself again in the tub to join you; he grabbed your breasts, squeezing them and pressing his thumb on your nipples, making you literally scream. Your lover wanted to love every inch of your body, squeezing and biting your every curve.
"Please, don't stop~"
"Damn water" he cursed. In fact, the water made him lose friction on your skin: Buddha's hands were constantly slipping and he couldn't get half the things he wanted to get done. From nervousness he kissed you hungrily, biting and taking your breath away, while one of your hands grabbed his now loose and wet hair, as if to push him even more towards your body.  Touching his skin was all you wanted, to hold him close and merge with him.
Your souls vibrated in sync, while your sighs and moans were drowned out by the rushing water, urging you not to hold back.
"Buddha..."
His name escaped your mouth like a prayer, one of those recited with heart in hand and with all possible devotion to one's god. "Alright, sweetheart. Turn around, can you do that for me?" Buddha asked you urgently, rosy cheeks and pure lust in his deep gaze. "Yes, honey" you answered with the exact same tone and turning your back on him.
Buddha grabbed your arms pulling them back and arching your back; you could feel some of your hair sticking to your skin as your legs spread in preparation for the future. Buddha was impatient, he couldn't help himself anymore: you drove him crazy, the man had never felt anything like that for a woman, but the meeting with you had moved his entire existence and now he couldn't help but overwhelm you.
Buddha forcibly thrusted his hips towards you releasing a deep growl and entering your womanhood. You sighed deeply arching your back even more and releasing a loud moan, which echoed throughout the room. How beautiful that feeling of fullness was and even more so given the person who was filling it. Something mixed with serenity and lust pervaded you making numerous shivers pass along your entire body.
He began to move his pelvis at an excruciating pace, for both of you. Buddha accelerated after a few minutes and your moans only encouraged the man more and more. Your legs were almost weaving but feeling your partner's hands holding you up gave you a sense of stability and security. The noises that escaped his lips, combined with those of the water, excited you more and more, while small droplets of sweat began to run down your body until they became part of the pool.
"Fuck...fuck, (Y/N)...you're so good"
From that position the man enjoyed a breathtaking view: your slightly bent head, your firm ass bouncing with every movement, his cock repeatedly entering and exiting your tight pussy, the rippling surface of the water and the latter which emphasized the sound of their skins touching. He couldn't take it anymore. He was about to reach his limit and he wasn't going to until you reached yours too.
His movements increased and became more desperate and sloppy. The scream of pleasure that came out of your mouth was melody to Buddha's ears behind you, who sighed deeply. With that position you could feel his member grow and throb inside you, it was as if you could sense every single vein rubbing against your skin. You were about to reach the limit and Buddha noticed it from the grip that your walls were exerting around him. He increased his hip movements even more regardless of the noise that was rumbling through the stone walls of the spa. Just as he was about to release his pleasure, he walked over to you and, in a low hoarse voice, asked, “Should I finish outside?”
But you opened your lids slightly, freeing yourself from his grip, you pressed your back to his muscular chest, while his strong arms moved around your hips. “Don't even think about it" you said before looking back and kissing him, bringing both of you to orgasm. Buddha held you in his arms, his movements became slow to fully enjoy the moment. You released a loud moan that was muffled by the deep kiss. His saliva mixed with yours dripped from your chin, just like his semen, which was now slowly pouring out of you in small streams.
Once you broke away and caught your breath, you burst out laughing, breaking the silence: "I should steal your snacks more often"
"Try it, I'll give you all the punishments you deserve"
"Now, that's what I wanted to hear~"
He smiled at you, a sincere smile full of affection, before capturing your lips again, softly as if you were made of porcelain.
Your heart started beating fast: this man would be your death, he had given you everything he had to offer without expecting anything in return, freeing you from your cage and treating you like a queen. You loved him, yes you did. Buddha felt the same way and although he couldn't offer you a life as rich as the one you were living before, he will never regret the moment when he freed his precious canary from the cage in which it was locked up.

!! TW // scopophobia, puppet gore !!
Tumblr media
(this happens some time after Wally arrived at Watcher's mansion, so a while after Barnaby's death.)
ㅤㅤㅤHe'd been feeling... off, for days. Something had changed, but pup couldn't place his finger on what. Pup wasn't feeling right since before, but... this was different. He found itself looking behind its shoulder more frequently, abruptly waking up from nightmares almost every night, scratching his hand until it bled after they'd managed to stop that bad habit.
ㅤㅤㅤThe others were worried, but he just brushed it off and told them it was nothing, probably. What would pup tell them, anyways? They already had enough on their plates, and he wasn't even sure of what it was, yet.
ㅤㅤㅤAnd maybe he didn't want to know.
ㅤㅤㅤHe woke up nauseous one night, the air cold even though pup was surrounded by the others. It managed to make its way between them and get off the large bed, quickly walking to the closest bathroom to lock themselves in it. He pressed its back against the door, breathing irregularly, heavily; their vision blurry and its mind spinning. What was happening?
ㅤㅤㅤHe felt a sharp pain coming from his left arm, grabbing it with its other hand and uselessly tried to focus its vision on it to no avail. With shaky steps he approached the bathroom sink, stepping on a stool already there for all the smaller residents of the mansion. frowning as much as it could, pup stared at the mirror trying to focus, wanting to see himself in an attempt to discover what was wrong.
ㅤㅤㅤThat's when he saw it. A third, vertical eye was staring back at pup from its forehead, its pupil a bright red.
ㅤㅤㅤHe felt even more sick than before, the air escaping from its lungs as he stepped back, missing the stool and falling awkwardly to the floor. They clumsily dragged itself to the other side of the room, his eyes wide open in shock. His whole body was now shaking violently, breathing desperately fast.
ㅤㅤㅤWhat? Why? No, no, no, this couldn't be. It was gone. He saw how it burnt with their own eyes. He was the one who burnt it. Why was it still here?
ㅤㅤㅤAn even stronger pain coming from the same arm as before interrupted its thoughts, causing him to look down at it. Something from inside of pup was cutting open its cloth, some stuffing coming out alongside a black substance he was awfully familiar with.
ㅤㅤTears had formed in his eyes, quickly falling down its cheeks as he stared in horror, the substance slowly covering its hand, creating more painful cuts in order to get out.
ㅤㅤHis vision was failing, tempting to loose consciousness because of the shock. But he wasn't thinking about that anymore. He was thinking about the others, the family that was still on the bed pup was laying on not so long ago. He was scared, not so much for itself, but for them. What if he hurt them? What if they get infected? They were under so much danger, and they didn't even suspect it...
ㅤㅤㅤWith the little strength he had left, pup approached the door of the room and locked it, finally collapsing in front of it. He wanted to keep them safe. Pup was going to keep them safe, no matter what. He'd refuse to open the door to anyone... Although its unlikely he even could, barely being able to move because of the pain, all his limbs going numb as it felt how it took control over his arm.
ㅤㅤㅤThe world went dark, after that. All pup could do is think; think about what happened, think about what he did. This must be its punishment, he thought; punishment for not being strong enough. For being scared. For not being able to protect his family, back then and now. He was sorry, pup promised he was, but this didn't help.
ㅤㅤㅤHe was alone, with his worst nightmare.

Satoru! You can't treat my friends like that! - you just chuckled, looking at him with a frown in your eyes.
"God, why do you even need other people when you have me?"Gojo asked himself this question every time, trying to suppress the terrible feeling in his soul. He could, of course, apologize, but it was not in his
nature to do so..
You owe them an apology! - you hissed again. - They didn't even do anything to you! And you, again, insulted them for nothing! - you have already spilled out with a note of toxicity in your voice.
- If you treat them so terribly, then I will stop playing and talking to you anymore!- you chuckled and turned your head in the other direction, trying to show more with your appearance that you are not joking.
- What??!!!?  Satoru said too loudly.
- I will not apologize to them! It's their own fault that they're taking your attention away! - He said, puffing out his cheeks at the same time. - And besides, I'm much more interesting and stronger than them, so you have to hang out with me, and they're kind of boring.....What if something happens to you and I can't help you? - Gojo's voice was already rising, but you tried to show less that you were somehow offended by his words.
Those words again.... every time he says this, when you chat with your friends. Why can't he go about his business at all? - you thought, turning back, looking straight into his eyes. You always thought they were beautiful, but right now they only make you shiver all over your body.
Why did you decide that something would happen? I'm not that weak, which means I can stand up for myself! Here! - you have already answered in a loud voice.
- no. You need me. I will always be needed.  Gojo said coldly, looking into your eyes.
- You were made for me. Just for me. I don't want to share with anyone else with you. After all, it is for me that you are a future husband / wife, and not for them," the boy hissed, already becoming aggressive towards you.
Why couldn't you understand that? Why do you always try to trade him for some friends who will leave you when you do something that, in their eyes, will be unacceptable? Why do this when you will always have it....
The only thing that pleases you is that in a few years you will never be able to get rid of it, because the ring that you will have on your ring finger will forever show everyone to whom you will belong in the future.
What kind of monster will you be associated with all your life....
He will never stay away from you, accept it.

Part Seven: We Went Looking For Trouble
Series Masterlist
Warnings: language
A/N: The seventh part of the series, and things are finally getting serious lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When you were a little girl, you were determined to learn how to swim. You were always incredibly headstrong, so instead of learning by instruction, you decided to dive head first into the lake behind your house with nobody around.
Still in your clothes, you dipped a toe into the ice cold water, a shiver running down your spine as you felt a surge of confidence. You could do this. How hard could it really be, right?
The first sense to leave you is sight, your eyes shut tight as you hit the water. You began to panic, your arms flailing with all your might as your fight instincts kicked in, but you weren't strong enough to keep your head above the surface. You were determined to survive, but it was a losing battle. For every bit of confidence you had, the water was stronger, all consuming, a reminder of how weak and insignificant you were.
It was like dominos knocking down after that, your limbs going numb, the only sound a ringing in your ears, your lungs filling with gulps of water as you took futile breaths.
You were on the edge of a precipice, and once you stopped fighting, allowing your body to slowly sink to the bottom, your mind was clear, not a thought of worry or fear, and for a moment you were overcome with a sense of peace. There's an ironic ease that sets in when you accept your fate. That regardless of how hard you fought or your best intentions, you were always going to end up here, nothing more than a memory of the many times your self-conviction had failed you.
Tumblr media
You couldn't breathe. It was like someone had sucked the air out of the room, and had a vice grip on your lungs as you sat across from Jack. The ringing in your ears grew louder and louder, your heart beating out of your chest as you tried to keep yourself from panicking. You could only make out snippets of what he said, but you got the gist- Claire, relationship, pregnancy, fake.
Jack had been lying to you, that much you already knew, but you had no idea how deep this went. There was months of planning, manipulation, and deception not only to you, but to the world. Tears stung your eyes as you blinked them away, trying to focus on Jack's face, watching his mouth move as he spoke. You felt the bile creep up your throat, you were going to be sick for sure. You swallowed, trying to take short breaths to keep yourself from crying, vomiting, your body was reeling from a variety of visceral reactions to what you now knew.
"Please say something." Jack gripped his thigh, digging his fingernails into the skin to stop it from shaking. There was supposed a be a sense of relief that comes with telling the truth, but he knew he didn't deserve that. It wasn't even why he was telling you everything. He had learned to live with the guilt, knowing that no matter what he did, there was no going back from this, and telling you everything meant that he might lose you for good.
He would take any reaction from you, he just needed something. He was desperate for something. "I'm begging you. Scream, cry, yell at me, anything, just please say something. Please."
Please. That word brought you hurdling back to the present moment. You didn't even notice that he went quiet, your vision had blurred, red and black spots creeping into your sightline. You gripped the side of the table where you sat, feeling the grain of the wood, how it felt in your hand, cool to the touch, trying anything to ground yourself. This couldn't be your reality. You loved Jack, more than you had ever loved anyone else, and he just admitted to lying to you about everything, after months of wringing you dry of every bit of sympathy that you had for his situation, and now he wanted something else from you?
"I don't believe you", you finally croaked out, choking back a sob.
"I'm telling you the truth." Jack knew his words meant nothing, they held no weight, but still he had to try. "I want to be honest-I'm trying to be honest with you." He wanted you to know that this was intentional. That he wasn't trying to save face; he was way past that. He cleared his throat to try to get rid of the lump building, trying to keep his composure.
"You expect me to believe that your relationship with Claire was all contrived in a conference room? The interviews, the photos of the two of you kissing, holding hands, the engagement, the baby, was all just for show to save your career?" You ran a hand down your face, feeling the tears roll off your chin. "You must think I am so fucking stupid. I-I just can't believe you. I don't believe you", you shook your head. You were sucking in breaths so hard, you felt yourself growing light headed.
"It wasn't supposed to get this out of control. We were supposed to take some photos, look like a couple to the press, but behind the scenes, we weren't together. But she took it too far. The engagement and the pregnancy were all created to try to trap me. Keep me under her father's thumb." Jack frantically wiped at his face, trying to stop himself from crying, but it was futile.
You let out a humorless breath. "What, am I supposed to feel sorry for you?"
"No, I don't want you to feel sorry for me. I just wanted to tell you the truth. I owe you that much."
"Just stop it!" You slammed your hands down on the table in anger, making all of the chess pieces fly off the table, clattering against the marble floor. Jack leaned back in his chair, stunned. "Stop pretending like you give a fuck about me, Jack! You say you owe me the truth. Start there. You never loved me, you never gave a shit about me!"
"That's not true, baby. I do care about you." The fact that you thought there was no love between the two of you crushed him, a pain radiating through his chest. It was the only thing he was sure right now, how much he fucking loved you.
You looked at him through blurry lashes. "God, do you ever stop lying?" Jack ran a hand through his hair, pulling at the curls at the back of his neck. "What do I need to say to make you believe me?" He gripped onto his laptop. He still needed to show you the sex tape, but he was sure that would send you over the edge, and he couldn't do that to you right now. He hurt you enough for five lifetimes.
"Nothing. There is nothing you could say or do that would make me believe you, Jack." You were sobbing uncontrollably, running the last few months through your mind. God, how could you be so stupid? You were weak, so incredibly unhappy, and you blindly entered into a relationship with Jack that was going to haunt you for the rest of your life. "Why not?", he picked at the open wound he caused; it was like he just couldn't let it go. He couldn't let you go.
"Because-", you let out a quiet whine in pain, your stomach in knots. "Because then I would be admitting that this was all for nothing. The months of pining for you, loving you when you didn't love me, lying to the people close to me to protect you, hiding in the shadows so I didn't anger Claire, missing you so much that I couldn't breathe, it meant nothing." You weren't sure what hurt worse, the lies or knowing you were being played. You thought you were the other woman, but you were the pawn. You were the piece on the chessboard that players sacrifice for the sake of the move. You meant nothing to no one, forgettable and easily replaced.
"I have to get out here", you mumbled to yourself as you stood, pushing the chair behind you with such force it slammed into the wall. Jack was quick to his feet, chasing after you as you walked to the bedroom to gather your stuff. "I can't let you leave." He grabbed at your arm, but you pulled away from him, stumbling back. "Do not touch me!", you edged out between clenched teeth.
You wanted to swing at him, beat on his chest till you had no fight left in you, make him feel just a bit of the hurt that you were feeling, but as you took in his face, you realized he was already there. The red and sunken eyes, the tears stains on his cheeks, the way his body basically collapsed into itself as if he was going to fall at any minute. He was already hurting, just as much as you were, and it was wearing him down to the bone. "I can't let you leave, yet, okay? For your own safety, I need you to stay here."
"I can't stay here. I'm done. I want out of whatever twisted mess this is." You grabbed your clothes, only carrying as much as you could hold in your arms. "I'm done, Jack."
He really wanted to let you go, but he couldn't. Partly for his own selfish reasons, and partly because he knew once Claire found out that the two of you were together again, it was only a matter of when she would release the tape to the public. He was going to fix this. He was going to figure out a way to do right by you, but first, he had to hurt you again. "I need to show you something."
You stopped moving for a second, your body tensing up as you contemplated hearing him out, but you eventually continuing walking to the door. "I don't want to see whatever you have to show me. Whatever it is, I don't care." You were inches away from freedom, your hand on the doorknob.
"Its a sex tape." Jack winced, closing his eyes. He could hear you turn on your heels. Without looking at you, he continued. "She's been recording us to use as blackmail to keep me in line." That familiar bile crept up the back of your throat again. You thought it couldn't get worse, but you underestimated the monster that was Claire. "Have you seen it?" Jack opened his eyes just in time to see your body language shift, your face stoic. "Yes, I can show it to you. Its on my laptop. She gave me a copy just so I had a reminder of what was hanging in the balance."
You held up a hand in disgust. "I don't want to see it." What were you going to do? If that tape leaked, you would for sure lose everything; job prospects, your friends, the media would make a martyr out of you for entertainment, and you'd never be able to show your face in public again.
"I'm gonna be sick." You made it to the sink in time just in time to empty the contents of your stomach, tasting the mix of alcohol on your tongue as it came back up.
"Why did you do this to me? Why did you do this to me?", you repeated over and over again, your head still in the sink. Jack placed a hand on your lower back, sending a shiver down your spine. You weren't sure if you wanted him to hold you or if you were disgusted by his touch, but his hand never left your back, trying to comfort you. "I'm gonna fix this. I promise I'm gonna fix this, baby."
When you were sure everything that passed, you allowed Jack to help you back to the bedroom, settling into bed with a groan. You were exhausted, every bone in your body ached. He covered you with a blanket as you retreated into yourself, tucking your knees to your chest. You closed your eyes, allowing silent tears to run down your face.
All this time, you thought Jack was the water in this sick and twisted metaphor, and if you just fought hard enough to keep your head above the surface, kept treading water while he worked to consume you, you'd prove your worth. That you weren't just an insignificant way to pass the time, that you should, and do mean more to him. You were stupid enough to think that if you waited around long enough, eventually he'd see that you were what he wanted, and that he'd leave Claire and come running to you. You fell into that mistress trap, and oh, it was so much worse than you ever thought possible. This was some sick game to Jack and Claire, and you were right in the middle of it. Every bit of control that you thought you had over your life was gone, or even worse, was never there to begin with. With that sex tape, Claire had something to hold over the both of you.
Tumblr media
Jack's eyes shot open into the darkness. He felt around him to remember where he was. At some point, he must have fallen asleep on the couch, he was so tired. For a brief moment, he felt at peace before the events of today settled back in his mind. The look on your face, the tears, the way you looked so fragile as he helped you into bed. Fuck, you were still in the bed.
He quickly got up and ran to the bedroom. Before he even stepped foot in the room he could tell that something was wrong. He pushed through the threshold to find that the bed was empty, all of the dresser drawers open and bare. He spotted the note you left on the pillow, your handwriting messily scribbled across the paper.
I can't do this. I can't be here and pretend like you didn't hurt me the way that you did. Tell Claire to release the tape. I think we all deserve the karma that's coming to us for our part in this, including me.
Don't come looking for me, I'm leaving the city.
Y/N
Jack crumbled up the paper in his hands, tossing it across the room in a fit of rage. "Fuck!" He tore through the room in anger, knocking over furniture, like a tornado touching down, leaving destruction in its wake. He didn't leave an inch of the room untouched with his tirade, hurling a vase against the wall, sending pieces of glass across the floor. His chest heaved with each breath as he stopped and looked at the damage. 'Fuck! What have I done?!", he pounded against his head with his hands, choking back sobs as he tried to breathe. Feeling dizzy, he sat down on the bed, his head hanging in his hands.
He wasn't sure if minutes or hours had passed before he finally looked up at the mess he made. You were right about one thing. Karma was coming for everyone involved, but not you. He'd do anything to protect you, because that was the least you deserved.
He shot off a text to Claire and received a reply in seconds like she'd been waiting by her phone.
Jack: We need to meet, now
Claire: my office 15 min
Tumblr media
Claire let an arrogant chuckle out as Jack came through the door.
"There you are. You're lucky I was in a good mood after our engagement party or I-" In a matter of seconds, Jack had her pinned against the desk, his large frame towering over her. His face was contorted with a mixture of hatred and disgusted as he eyed her up and down. "We're done", he spat out.
"Done with what?", she smirked, "This? Because last time I checked, honey, we were just getting started." She was always very good at hiding her emotions, but Jack could smell the fear on her, her pupils dilated as she cowered under his presence. He backed away, trying not to let his anger get the best of him in the moment. He needed to stick to the plan.
"This is over. We're calling off the engagement and we'll tell the media that we lost the baby. I'm sure you could spin it. That the loss of the baby drove us apart or something." He sucked in his teeth, knowing she was probably already thinking of a hundred different headlines.
"No, we're not doing any of that, Jack. The only thing you're going to do is continue to play your part, or your did you forget about the tape that I have? I know you care about her, and that tape will destroy her and her reputation." She crossed her arms over her chest, concealing her shaking hands. "You wouldn't do that."
"She left", Jack whispered out, looking up at Claire. "What? What happened?" She pushed off the desk, and Jack could tell that she was panicking. Her plan only worked if you stuck around to see everything unravel. You were Jack's weakness, and with you gone, he had nothing to lose.
"She left this morning. Said she wanted you to release the tape, that karma was coming for all of us."
"Well, go find her." Jack shook his head. "No, she's been through enough. This is between you and me, and I plan on ending it."
"How?" she let out a huff through her nostrils. "I release that tape and your career is over. You got into this to try to save your career, you would never do anything to jeopardize it. You're not that stupid."
Jack flexed his jaw in frustration. "See, that's what I thought too." He paced toward her, forcing her to step back. "I thought that there wasn't anything that I wouldn't do to save my career, but I was wrong. I'd give it up for her, all of it. I would throw myself into the fire for her."
He could see the flash of anger on Claire's face as he spoke. "There it is." He stabbed a finger into her face. "It bothers you. No, it kills you that I love her and not you. I always thought you had the upper hand here, but all of this was contingent on the fact that I wanted you back, right? That eventually I'd come around. That I'd chose you."
"No-no, that's not what this is about at all", she stumbled over her words trying to get them out. It all was starting to make sense. She fell for Jack, wanted him for herself, wished that at some point this twisted grab for fame would turn into a real love story.
"You're all talk, Claire. You won't release that sex tape, because sure, I'd lose my career, and Y/N would lose a lot, but you'd lose me. The only thing you really wanted in all of this." Jack felt the power struggle tip in his favor for the first time. He took one step closer, listening to the breath hitch in her chest. "What was it that you said? The Beckham's don't like to be told no?"
"Jack, think about what you're doing here. We all have so much to lose." Claire could feel her face heating up with anger and embarrassment.
"That's the thing, "honey".", he let out a laugh that made Claire's skin crawl. "For the first time in all of this, I'm thinking about what I'm doing. I've made a lot of fucking mistakes over the last year, but I can fix this for Y/N. She deserves that."
"Jack, please-". Claire covered her mouth, stopping herself from saying anything else. The pleading surprised him, but he thoroughly enjoyed it, a grin creeping on his face. He turned to the door, able to hold his head high for the first time in a while.
"You have 48 hours to get everything together. Call your PR team, your daddy, anyone who can help you save face, because I'm telling everyone about all of the lying we've been doing. I might go down for this, but I am taking every fucking member of the Beckham family down with me."

Hit The Road
Chapter One
next chapter
Summary: You are a hunter of supernatural beings who is forced to experience a new reality: being a vampire. The only thing stronger than your thirst for blood is your thirst for revenge.
Author's note: the characters mentioned here were created by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec, based on the book series of the same name by author L. J. Smith. They don't belong to me. That said, this fanfic will be short. This fanfic may address scenes of violence, inappropriate language and adult content. Minors should not interact with this story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"A hunter shouldn't act with the heart instead of the head" said the leader of the hunters' clan, which gathers in a different town every six months. On the other hand, they also say that you shouldn't let a vampire take what's yours without a fight. Here you are, lost in a new town, hoping to find the one who took everything from you without even thinking about the consequences. The cursed one with blue eyes and fangs that can pierce even your soul.
You feel the weight of the leader's words as you wander through the new town, determined to find the blue-eyed vampire who took everything from you. Each step you take is laden with the determination to seek justice and reclaim what was lost. As night falls, you prepare for the impending battle, reminding yourself that as a hunter, your courage and determination are your greatest weapons against the shadows lurking in the darkness. You must kill Damon Salvatore at all costs. But you know you're going against your clan's rules. It's like a double-edged sword. You wound and will be wounded. Your clan is against hunting alone. Well, that's not the only reason your clan doesn't want you around anymore.
"Does anyone know where the hell I can find a man with blue eyes and a pretty shitty sense of humor?" You say as you enter a place called Mystic Grill. This small town seems like the type where everyone knows everyone.
"I think you're looking for Damon Salvatore. May I ask what you want with him?" A tall human with blonde hair speaks to me. He looks strangely ordinary.
"Just some personal matters with him. Nothing major." You reply to the tall blonde human, trying to sound casual despite your true intentions running much deeper. He looks at you for a moment, seemingly assessing your answer, before finally stepping away.
"I think he's big enough to take care of himself, but if you want, I can take you to him." What a kind person this is standing in front of you.
"Would you do me this favor?" You say, trying to feign friendliness, although something inside you has changed significantly. That repugnant vampire has changed you and simply left as if it meant nothing.
"Of course, you seem to need to settle something with him. Just need to grab my coat." The stranger picks up his coat from the chair and heads towards his car. It makes sense why the vampires here get along so well. A friendly face, and humans are already willing to help you. The car ride was quick enough that you didn't have to explain much about the reason for being in Mystic Falls.
"A piece of advice, talk to Stefan if you don't get what you want with Damon. Stefan tends to be more reasonable. Maybe even Elena. Right there at that mansion, you'll find what you're looking for." The man who identified himself as Matt during our journey became increasingly helpful to you.
"I appreciate the advice, and in return, I'll tell you, you should stop being so kind. People in general don't deserve that much kindness, especially people who stopped being human a while ago." You say as you look deeply into his eyes. If he doesn't take vervain, he'll probably take this advice to heart. He looks confused, but you're already in front of a mansion. I guess you've reached your destination. You grab the backpack you brought with you and bid farewell to the human.
You knock once, and there's no answer. How irritating it is to wait for someone to grant you entry. You knock again, still no response. How frustrating. You decide to try once more, knocking on the door with a bit more force. It's when you hear footsteps behind you.
"Can I help you?" Says a man behind you. He's so close that you end up attacking him. He's definitely not human, but he's not Damon either. He falls to the ground, unfazed due to his supernatural nature. I bet he's a vampire. Perhaps he's the reasonable one Matt was talking about.
"I'm sorry, I'm not used to being caught off guard. Need a hand getting up?" You say, reaching out to the stranger who is still on the ground.
"You almost offend me by offering help, but thank you for the consideration. If you don't mind, I'll savor my humiliation a little longer." He replies.
"Is it humiliation because I brought you down, or because you're still on the ground?" You don't want to gloat over other people's misfortunes, but you end up smiling.
"Humiliation because I was brought down, of course." He retorts with a hint of sarcasm.
"Don't feel bad, it happens to the best of us. I heard the more recent the transformation, the more ruthless you become. Or maybe not. Are you sure you don't want help?" You say as you watch him slowly get up. You can bet he hasn't fed in a while.
"You couldn't have come here just to make me fall at your feet, what brought you here?" He says looking at you, it seems like he doesn't find it strange that I talk about vampirism so casually.
"Indeed, it was a man named Matt, but my goal here is to reunite with an old friend." You say as you intertwine your arms in front of your body. He seems to understand.
"What did Damon do this time?" He asks, as if he's already accustomed to seeing people looking for that idiot.
"I hope you won't be upset by what I'm about to do; it's nothing personal. I just need to get his attention and then I'll leave. Once I take from him what he took from me." You say as you take the stake from your backpack and drive it into the man in front of you. There's a bit of vervain on the tip of the stake, enough to incapacitate the vampire before you, but not to kill him. That's why you don't aim for his heart. I'll make Damon come to me no matter what it takes. Get ready, Salvatore. You've messed with the wrong hunter.

Given recent discussions in the fandom and because I’m curious to hear others’ opinion… would you want to see a Chenford breakup next season?
All right, let me start with my usual disclaimer : this is only my opinion and it has no more (or less) value than anyone else's. And this isn't meant as a personal attack either, regardless of which side of the equation you're in. I actually enjoyed reading other people's takes on this, particularly the ones who want a breakup, to see their perspective on the subject. It was truly interesting (no sarcasm).
To answer your question, dear Anon, no, I don't want a breakup. Mainly because I feel that so many shows go there, so I'm more interested in seeing Tim and Lucy navigate the ups and downs together.
One thing that attracted me to their relationship was their ability to talk to each other about everything and anything. How, despite their differences and their rocky start, they could always confide in each other… Be extremely vulnerable. And that is what I would love to see going forward. How this shorthand they've developed by working together can translate into their personal relationship. Don't get me wrong, just because they are usually good at communicating doesn't mean that it is perfect. It's not. Even before they became a couple. There are some cracks that became more and more visible as the season progressed. The theme of 'honesty' was their main thread in 5b. The storylines involving Sava & Jake or Isabel served to highlight that aspect. To emphasise how lies, deceit and miscommunication can destroy a relationship. Now it could be used as a foreshadowing… Or it could be used as a warning. Tim and Lucy already have a much stronger relationship, so I choose to believe that this could be a learning experience for them. Learn from other people's mistakes, learn from your past (in Tim's case).
Right now, those moments of dishonesty revolves around one common theme : work. Tim taking a desk job without consulting Lucy first… Lucy doing the five-player trade behind his back… Him trying to lie at first that he wasn't bored out of his mind… Her not saying anything about Primm (as far as we know)… Him not wanting to open up about his fears regarding undercover…  Those are starting to pile up and they're going to need to address it. The sooner, the better. Particularly the undercover talk. This has been a long time coming. It's clear that Tim is terrified but doesn't want to burden Lucy with this. And she can sense it. That last scene in 5.21 was (for me) a step in the right direction where they started voicing their concerns. It's nowhere near sufficient. But they stopped avoiding that topic altogether. Like I said, they can be great at communicating… But they can also be their own worst enemies. They're both selfless when it comes to the other… they're both used to do things a certain way. And now, they need to learn how to do these things together. To talk about these moments that may seem insignificant to them but isn't to the other. To stop making decisions for the other. This is quite new to them : as we've seen in the past, they didn't truly open up to their boyfriends/girlfriends. That's something they are going to have to learn together. And that's okay : this is part of the journey of being in a relationship.
Another reason why I don't want to see that is related to the characters' growth. The thing is, I actually could picture Tim breaking up with Lucy because there is a pattern here. If he got it into his head that he is holding Lucy back, an idea already planted by Noah in 5.16, then yes, it wouldn't be out of character for him to break up, thinking it's the right thing to do for Lucy. Which is not that dissimilar to what he did in 5.02 : sure, they weren't together, but it still felt like a separation. Especially since the end of that scene mirrored so well another one from 1.12… when he decided to divorce Isabel. And if you remember, that was pretty much for that very same reason : he was afraid that being with him would only remind her of her time as an addict and bring her down. So he did what he thought would help her the most and decided to divorce her. So breaking that pattern would be a tremendous character development for Tim (in my opinion). Then, there's the fact that this is something they knew would be coming up at some point. This isn't a new obstacle. The episode before they got together had Lucy go undercover. And Tim, even more so than her, knew what he was getting into when he told her that it was worth the risk. He may not have explicitly said it but the implication that she was worth fighting for was right there. So breaking up for something that they could foresee kind of negates those words. And it would play right into Lucy's insecurities. She was so hesitant because she didn't want to lose what they have. She is finally letting go of the fears that prevented her before from fully committing to a relationship… Her certainty in them is absolutely amazing. So breaking up now would hurt her so much. (I focused mostly on Tim here because I struggle to see a reason for Lucy to break up. At least, not if this is related to her career, be it undercover work or her promotion).
Now, that's not to say that it can't be executed in a beautiful way. Sometimes breaking up can help strengthen a relationship, as odd as it might seem. Sometimes it gets too much and taking a step back can offer a new perspective and a fresh start on healthier grounds. Just like sticking in a relationship at all costs can be very damaging and toxic. I mean, take a look at Lucy and Tim in their last respective relationships… They stayed well past the expiration date. But I, personally, would rather see them work this out together. See them 'fight' and argue, like they've done in the past… that very same thing they didn't do with Ashley and Chris. See them all vulnerable with each other, like they've also done in the past. I honestly think the writers could pull off the angst and drama with this storyline, without having to resort to a breakup. But again, that's only my preference :)

I was rewatching s2 last night, and ohhh man mk looks over mei so much it's not even funny. times mei has been ignored:
maybe you need to really listen! (during the blindfold ep)
mk just? grabs stuff she's using out of her hands all the time? (video game ep)
maybe you shouldn't skip the tutorials? (video game ep again)
the way he addresses her in dumpling destruction and then immediately pushes her aside for tang
i honestly remember it lowkey kinda bothering me on first watch but now it's REALLY egregious on rewatch. are you scared? I'm so scared. do you WANT to end up like shadowpeach MK
2x03 is so rude because the whole fucking episode they're like "MK you don't listen" and it's so true. He doesn't. Pigsy literally points it out again at the end of 4x14 with the whole sun screen bit:
Pigsy: "Tch, don't bother, I've been telling him that for years but he LITERALLY never listens." Sun Wukong: "Yep! That's how we role."
-
THEY'RE SO FUCKING RUDE. "That's how we role." We. We????? Wukong and MK???? Like WHATEVER. FINE. (("I told you going against the Jade Emperor was a bad idea, but no. Wukong doesn't listen to ANYONE! He just does whatever he wants" Like shut up. Shut up!))
MK gets so stuck in his own head ("You're all stuck up in your own head! None of this is your fault!" +1 to the MK ignoring Mei counter from 4x08) and I think that really contributes to his s2 scramble to get more powerful.
LIKE:
MK: "Stop? Now? Never! I just have to try harder. It's just like the Monkey King said! *laughs manically* I just need to get stronger!"
(2x06 Game On)
VS
MK: "Why didn't he just stop, right here? He was already so much stronger than anyone ever needed to be!" Macaque: "Wukong didn't think so, he always felt he had to be stronger—more immortal."
(4x11 A Lifetime of Mistakes)
-
(Bonus thing between eps 2x03 and 2x06, look at 0:42 in this video for MK hearing Mei but not listening to her. Because of course that's what he would do. *head in my hands .png*)
The terrible s2 choices both Wukong and MK make in relation to their friends is just absolutely delicious after 4x11. Like, OH. This has been a lifelong pattern of Wukong's—paranoia is one of his fatal flaws (paired with his terrible communication and self-sacrificial nature), and while he had the power to stop LBD before he still feel's the need to go after the Samadhi Fire to stop her now, and to protect MK.
Hold on look at this parallel that I don't know what to do with:
Tumblr media
MK: "Ugh, I can't do it!"
Tumblr media
Mei: "It's alright MK—you did it before, you'll do it again!" Sandy: "Yeah! Maybe it's like Monkey King said: the power will come when you need it most!"
(3x04 The Winning Side)
-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MK: "What! But you said the Samadhi fire was the only thing that could stop her!" Sun Wukong: "I KNOW WHAT I SAID! But I've beaten her before I'll- I'll do it again! Mei was right—I need to stop dragging you into my fights, all of you."
(3x10 The Samadhi Fire)
-
Wukong and MK's reach for power inspires a lot of fear in me! It does! Because, well, MK's current reach for power is going to lead him to his Monkey Form, and uh:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like I'm scared. I'm scared!
"All doomed to play a role in tearing this world apart!" ; "This is Azure's utopia, and this barren wasteland is the price he paid to build it." ; "I'd do anything for my friends! But at the cost of the world?" "I'm sorry pal, ain't NOTHIN' worth that price!"
Tumblr media
#I've said it once and I'll say it again: 2x06 is one of the MOST retroactively mean episodes#Game motif. The callback that 4x10 does. Whatever the fuck is going on with the MK and SWK parallels in that ep#I hate lmk's exchange theme I hate it. Like FUCK#Anyways#asks#wlw-wukong#lmk#lego monkie kid#lmk MK#lmk SWK#lmk Sun Wukong#lmk analysis#lmk theme: exchange#fuckasdfoqweg#Sandy saying ''Helping my friends is more important than anything in the world!'' in 2x08 vs#''I get it! I'd do anything to help my friends! But at the cost of the world?'' in 4x13 is SICK. SICK IT'S SICK#Sometimes it's like. Hmmm. ''If you aren't doing everything in your power to help your friends you are nothing!''#''I'd watch my sword shatter 1000 times so long as I used it to protect the ones I care about''#I'm telling you Mei would choose MK over the world. I'M TELLING YOU#MK'S ALREADY CHOSEN MEI OVER THE WORLD (thank you 3x10) AND PIGSY/TANG/SANDY OVER THE WORLD (4x02)#MK really went: ''Oh releasing this curse could end the world? Well I'll risk it for my friends!'' and I went ''ohhhh nooooooooo''#WE ARE IN SOME DEEP SHIT IN S5#And Wukong? Lol of course he's choosing the people he cares about over the world. No surprise there.#He's like ''yeah I'll go fight the jade emperor to finally be strong enough''. If eamk theory proves true he like#Chose MK over the world initially#And he was totalllyyy willing to sacrifice LBD's child host to protect his friends (MK)/the world#I'm. AUGHGHG.#''It's what he would do if he had to. That's the hard part of being a hero!'' OKAY BUT MEI WOULD YOU DO THAT SO EASILY IF IT WERE MK#ME THINKS NO#ME THINKS YOU WOULD NOT

Obsession: His Point Of View
Tumblr media
His love for you is overwhelming, and it is starting to consume you. You feel like you are being pulled into his world, and you are afraid that you will never be able to escape.
⚠unhealthy relationship⚠
The Boyz masterlist here
Your pov His pov
"I've already told you that I'm going out with my friends, Sunwoo. They're not a threat to our relationship."
Your friends, that it makes him mad when you spend time with them, but that's not true. He can see for himself that they want more than friendship from you. They have love in their eyes when they talk to you. Is that what you call a friend? He doesn't like it. He doesn't like you being out of his sight with anyone else. He follows you everywhere to make sure you're safe from the world. He wants to protect you from anyone who could hurt you.
You are sensitive and kind, and that makes you vulnerable to the harshness of the world. That's why your boyfriend is there for you. He loves you and wants to protect you. But you still want to spend time with your friends, even though they don't understand you the way he does. Maybe you're just too independent to let him lead you.
"Sunwoo, he's just asking for directions. There's no need to be harsh with him."
He only asked for directions, but you gave him your beautiful smile. He didn't want anyone else to see that smile, because it was meant for him only. He doesn't want to lose you, and the thought of it scares him. He wants to have a happy ending with you by his side, and he doesn't understand why it has to be so complicated. Why can't you make it happen? Is it really that hard?
He loved all the love stories in movies and books. When he first saw you, he knew that you were the one for him. No one else had ever made him feel that way. It was as if you had cast a spell on him. His love for you grew stronger and stronger every day. He loved you more than anyone else in the world, even his parents. He will never stop showing you how he feels, and he will never stop telling you about it. He will never be silent about his feelings for you because they feel so right.
"Sunwoo, I know you love me, but I'm asking you to please stop making things so difficult for us. I need you to believe in me. You're starting to act differently, and it's making me worry."
Sunwoo is feeling jealous and insecure because you are so beautiful and other people want you as much as he does. He is afraid that you will find someone better than him. Even though he knows that you are meant to be together, he doesn't want you to get hurt by someone else. He wants to believe in you, but he is worried that you will be taken advantage of in this world.
you said Sunwoo made everything so difficult? No. He made it easier to be honest, but you didn't get it. you could be so silly sometimes. you must have been so embarrassed to admit that you loved him that much, poor little thing. Sunwoo is getting so much different now? Maybe he is because he just realized that he should take care of you even more. He realized that you needs him that much, that's why he acts like that.
"Sunwoo, please stop. You're scaring me."
He didn't understand why you had tears in your eyes. Was he scaring you? Why would he? He thought you were joking. After all, he was living in the dream he had always wished for. He woke up to see your beautiful face beside him, and you greeted him with your cute voice. He ate his favorite food, watched his favorite TV show with you, and held you close. He was in cloud nine. You two were perfect together.
He was confused about the tears in your eyes. He thought that your beautiful eyes should not have tears in them. Was that how you showed him that you loved him? Did he need to make you cry even more? He loved life with you. It was so colorful and he enjoyed his time with you so much. Having you was a treasure he had always found in his life. He could not describe how happy he was.
"I think it's time for us to break up. I don't feel like we're in love anymore, and I don't think this is what we're meant to be."
Sunwoo was furious when you said you wanted to break up. He couldn't believe that you would even consider ending their relationship. He told you that he would never let you break up with him, and that he would make you forget about the idea altogether. He loves you very much, and he doesn't understand why you would even think about leaving him. Are you seriously considering leaving him? Leaving him all alone to suffer without you? How dare you? This is the first and last time you will ever be so foolish. He will make sure that you never utter those words again.
The tears streamed down your face that day, and it seemed like they would never stop. But he didn't care. He didn't mind, because it was worth it. He wanted you to understand, and he could tell that you did by the tears on your cheeks. He was so happy for you, even though he didn't like to see you cry. But he knew that it was necessary.
He was finally able to watch you walk slowly along his path. He was so happy about it. He had always dreamed of this moment, of building a kingdom for the two of you. And now, you were there, loving him as he loved you. He could never express how happy he was. He believed that you would eventually love him as much as he loved you. Maybe not right now, but you had plenty of time to learn about love. And one day, you would understand how precious you were to him. You would never think about leaving him again. This life was all about the two of you.
"i...i love you too Sunwoo"

The crew meeting BATIM Bendy in your fic be like: Oogly boogly bitches.
Them: AHHH
Hhhehhe. Not quite, since I wanna experiment a little idea I had 😈
But!! You got lucky because I was writing more of it so now you get the part I wrote for now.
————————————————————————
"..bu- but it's not possible! Wh-"
"How did it get..here?" The two dishes wondered, how could a machine this massive could possibly be in this.. tiny studio.
"this is just getting weirder and weirder." The red one said, well now yellow. "How- first an animation studio, then those posters about bendy and the cutouts, then- cussing Boris cut open—"
"Woah- wait. This is an animation studio- Bendy's cutouts, wh- BORIS?!" too much information at once, mugman couldn't even register one that the other popped out.
"what do you mean Boris cut open?! He's here? Where's the rest?!" He demanded, that poor kid.
"Bro, I don't know mugsy. I just found Boris on this metal table an-.." he couldn't even finish the phrase, the image still printed in his head, clearly. Not leaving any time soon.
"look- whatever happened to boris, might happen to us as well. We-"
"We can't just- leave him there!"
"he's dead already mugs! what are we gonna do, drag him with us?! what if bendy finds us with his brother's dead body going around?!"
"but we can't just leave him there! At- at least..I don't know.." maybe bury him, or something. Don't know. He didn't think the kid would end up like that.
"look. There's something or someone going around, and it's probably going after us like it did with Boris, so let's get outta here and fast." the elder said, firmly. Quietly. It hears.
"But what about the others?" The younger asked.
"What about 'em?"
"What if they are here too? What if whoever did..that..to Boris is doing it to them? holly, Felix..bendy or-" he was right. They didn't know how or why they were here and they also didn't know who was here.
Sure, a threat was around. He could feel it.
He was being watched. It was listening, lurking in the shadows and the ink, but they didn't know who else could be in this weird studio.
"Mhm." He nodded, and now that he thinks better of it, if this is really some cult meeting place or- somewhere to worship bendy or some stardust like that, then bendy must be here.
If they got mugman and him, then they must have gotten bendy as well, it's the cult's "lord" after all.
If his theory is right that is.
But..how?
Boris is here, mugman too..
Maybe a sacrifice? Possibly, sacrificing for their lord. Using boris and the rest as a sacrifice for bendy.
"Okay, here's the plan. We search the whole place up, it shouldn't be too big. It's just some old studio. If we don't find anyone or anything important, we scram. I know where the exist is, we just need to get that door open. Got it?" Quick, effective and most importantly quiet.
"..got it. I got it." So quiet it was almost as if he didn't talk at all. "Let's- let's just be quick." He can already feel tears coming out- it's. he thought he was stronger than this but..Boris.
the had to search for others, quickly.
And so they did.
But they didn't find anything, just a random closet with a radio on, playing a tune.
someone must be in there.
"Behind me." Cuphead whispered, slowly approach in the door and turning the knob.
He thought he would have found someone, maybe a cult member or some dead body or something. I dunno.
It was just..a closet with..bacon soup? Again with bendy on them. And the radio playing, and someone listening to it.
almost jumping back and shooting, he realized who it was, the very demon he saw everywhere in here.
Bendy.
he wasn't doing anything too special, just eating some bacon soup and listening to the tune, stopping midway through to look at the stranger in front of him.
"..bendy?"
"Bendy??" Mugman spoke louder from behind, but the demon didn't answer, just drank the soup while looking at Cuphead. Was he scared ? Scared of what? He was gonna take the soup?
This demon and his weird obsession over bacon soup.
"Dude- dude we've been looking for you!" Cuphead sighed in relief. "Do you know if anyone else is here?" Let's hope he doesn't ask about Boris.
Raising an eyebrow, like if he wasn't even expecting guests. He was scared, the cup could tell. He was nervous, gripping that can like it would have done something.
"Like- do you know if holly or Felix are here?" And suddenly, an imaginary exclamation mark appeared, like if bendy found the reason of life.
Jumped back up and got Cuphead hand, and bolted into a direction that wasn't promising nor it felt or looked safe.
"Wait- hey wait!!" Mugman called before joining the two in a run for who knows where.
"Dude- hey!" The handgrip was firm, strong. and this was gonna be the last time the ink demon was gonna be this friendly and actually approaching someone, especially strangers with finger guns, in this pathetic, weak tiny form of his.
But he didn't like strangers, so, since he knew where those..holly and Felix whatever it was are, might as well reunite them and get them out of of his hair.
he didn't care if they died, got lost and got consumed by the dark puddles or just, walked out (if it was even possible) he just wanted them to go away.
They were loud. Gullible and most importantly, annoying and dangerous.
unless he manages to change back, then it's no issue. He'll eat them, easy peasy.
He knew where the other two where, they were sitting and quietly chatting in the lunch room.
That room that employees here used to eat, in that one or two hours of break they had, along with chatting, laughing, kind of like those two strangers are doing, before going back to work at their desks of pipes that will soon be their eternal torment.
opening the door, at this point broken with how many times Henry has abused this door to open it in a rush.
finding the two...toons, sitting at the couch right after the stairs. Giggling at whatever they were talking about, jumping at the noise of a cup with the body of a human cursing and almost screaming at the ink demon.
"Dude!" He finally gets his hand back, holding it like if it was gonna fall off. Funny. Maybe it will.
"Guys! There you are!" The cat said happy, and relieved. "we thought we were the only ones here."
"..yeah." holly agreed, quietly. Clearly not comfortable with a certain person in the room.
"Bendy dragged me here, we found him in a closet." Mugman popped in from the doorframe, only his head could be seen. Rather amusing if the ink demon must say.
"Yeah, we were looking for you guys and whoever else is here." The other crossed his arm, already making his way down the stairs, while bendy simply watched them chat about useless stuff.
he's already sick of all of them.
"Hey, are you two okay? Have you seen anything weird?" The younger cup, joining his what the demon assumes is his brother, asked. Worried.
Nervous.
"No, not really. We woke up on the floor in this room and just,, didn't move. We didn't know who was out there, especially since we heard multiple footsteps.
"Maybe it was bendy?" Cup pointed out.
"Maybe,,"
"No. No these footsteps were..weird. it was like if whoever was passing by was constantly stepping on mud, or ink considering this place. I think it was a guy, he was humming something I didn't even recognize." Holly. he thinks. she's the smart one and she just heard a certain someone who won't be pleasant to talk to.
"Yeah now that I think about it bendy is rather quiet in his footsteps, he was quick but kept quiet." Mugman remembered and said.
"Mhm, whatever it was, it's good that we're all together. We just need to find boris-" mhm. "-and whoever else is here." Good point Felix.
"There aren't many rooms lefts anyway, it's all desks and papers all over the place, it's easy to tell if someone else is here. And hopefully it's people we know." That aren't our enemy. You have many Cuphead, you better start praying.
"Have you two found anyone else, aside from bendy?" Holly asked.
"..no." forget about what you saw.
"Mhm. What about you bendy? you've been standing there all along, are you worried about Boris?" What a silly question the cat decided to ask him. The wolf is more worried about the ink demon than the contrary.
But if they mean that dead body, then no. He's not worried about that, it's been there for ages now. And there are many others anyway.
All he did was shake his head and shrug. He can't talk anyway and at the moment he isn't worried about focusing on hearing the many screams, cries and maniacal laughter from the various people here to identify the stranger and lead these fools to them.
He was hungry, but he can't eat a lost one now, he has to stick to regular food like he was doing earlier, it's safer with his situation.
And so he did. Walking back to that closet so he can finish what he was doing.
"H- hey bendy wait!" The cat quickly mustered before following like some lost puppy the demon. "Don't you think it's dangerous to go around like this, in a place you don't even know?" A place you don't know, he knows this place very well and by experience it's only dangerous for you, mr.cat.
but he shrugged.
"Don't tell me you're looking for Boris- look we can look for him together, I'm sure he'll be fine. I'm as worried as you-" why does he talk so much? He doesn't care for that wolf. and he doesn't wanna search for anyone.
he just wanted to eat. And you're lucky he can't eat you.

Hello can I make a tighnari request tighnari x pregnant reader where the reader goes into Labour and tighnari has to deliver his own child and collie has to stop him from fainting the whole time
(Ps can the baby be a fox I adore baby foxes)
Thank you for your request. I am really sorry that it took so long, I was not active here for a while. And - Also sorry that I have made it longer than it needs to be. It´s written a little bit as a joke, especially in the last part, so keep that in mind. Hope you enjoy it.
Oh no, it´s comming!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“What a beautiful night.” Tighnari says leaning out of the window. “Look! The sky was not this clear since… Forever.”
“We should make the most out of these last summer nights.” You say as you come to him. “Soon it will get much colder.”
“And...” He makes a long pause to wait for you to complete his sentence.
“And?” You frown.
“The baby will come!” Tighnari suddenly jumps to you and quickly gets on his knees to hug your belly.
“Don´t do this! You scared me.” You laugh. “Don't you know that it's dangerous to stress this pregnant lady?” You say as a joke while putting both hands on your hips for additional dramatic effect.
“No, pregnant lady. I didn't know that.” Tighnari laughs and kisses you. “What would you say about a little walk?”
“Now?” You frown.
“Yes, dear. Why not? We can enjoy this nice evening and count the stars as we used to.”
“Like on our first date.” Your face brightens up, you love that he remembers every small detail about your relationship. Sometimes even better than you.
“Exactly.” He smiles at you and his ears make a happy wiggle.
“I would love to, but I don't think that we should go far, especially in this state.”
Tighnari laughs when you point your index fingers at your belly.
“Don't laugh. I'm due in three weeks so it can happen anytime now.”
“I know.” Tighnari takes both hands in his and places gentle kisses on them. “But we are ready. We did everything that we were supposed to. Took the courses and read all the books. I am here for you and I will be by your side the whole time. You have nothing to worry about.”
“Yeah… Except for the whole childbirth thing.”
“I am so sorry. If there would be a way to help you to ease the whole process…”
“I know, I know.” You smile.
“I have always told you that you are the stronger one, Mrs. Forest Watcher.”
“No, no. I am Mrs. Forest Ranger. Like power ranger, but forest edition.”
“What is a power ranger?”
“Oh, nothing.” You laugh as you grab a water bottle and head out on your night walk.
Tumblr media
“It's getting cold, we should come back. I don't want you to get sick.”
“You're right. I will just… Do you hear that?”
“Tighnari! Tighnari!” A familiar voice echoes in the forest under the small hill where you currently are.
Tighnari´s ears stretch and try to locate the source of the noise, and after a short moment, he sights “Collei.”
And then you finally see her running towards you.
“Master! Master Tighnari!!!” Collei screams, almost choking on her words, trying to talk.
“What is it now?” Tighnari frowns with his arms crossed at his chest.
“Let her catch a breath.”
“Yes, thank you. That hill almost killed me.” Collei nervously smiled.
“So… Collei. Tell me what is that important, that you had to wake up the whole forest with your…”
“Tighnari.” You frown at him.
“I am sorry Collei. Now, tell me what happened.”
“Master Tighnari, someone has set up a bonfire in the middle of the forest… And it burns.”
“Well… That usually happens with fire.” He scratches his head. “Even though it is a forbidden act in our forest to leave an open fire, anyone can deal with it pretty quickly. So why…”
“It already burned a few acres!”
“Oh. Wait, what? So the forest is burning?!”
“Yes!”
“It shouldn't be a big fire. I haven't seen or smelled any smoke.”
“It's on the other side of the forest, but it's spreading really quickly! It doesn't look good, and many people and their homes are in danger.”
“The forecast for tonight is not good, we will get a strong wind that will help the fire spread even more.” Tighnari´s ears fall flat. “Not good, not good. We need to act quickly.”
“Part of our team is already on the spot and others are currently meeting in…” Collei looks at you with a strange expression, but after a short moment she continues. “I can lead you to…” She looks at you again.
“Collei! Come on, we don't have time.”
“Yes Master Tighnari, you are right. We don't have time.” She says and points at you.
He looks at you and when he sees that the lower half of your dress is completely drenched, he freezes. “Oh. Oh no! It's coming!”
“Who is coming?!” Collei asks nervously while looking around hoping to see the intruder.
Tighnari just stands there without any movement, shocked, staring at you. “Not now.”
“I am sorry, it's not up to me.” You throw your hands in the air.
Tighnari´s tale nervously jumps from one side to another as he tries to think.
“If I may suggest, there is a small Watchers cabin on the way.”
“Yes, yes. Of course, you are right. Please, tell everyone that I cannot come. Contact every watcher's unit that you possibly can so we can stop this catastrophe. I will… I don´t know. We will figure something out, but if you meet someone from our medical team, send them to the cabin. We will be there…”
“Yes, master!” She says and runs away.
“Now…” He sights. “Let me take you there. At least you will not be cold. And then… I don´t know. Everything is happening at once.”
“Tighnari, calm down. It just started. Contractions are irregular and far apart, so we have enough time until someone will come to help us.”
Tumblr media
“Master!”
“Collei! Finally! It's been hours! How does it look? What is happening?”
“Master! Everything is fine!” She jumps happily.
“What do you mean?” He stares at her.
“False alarm, master! There was a fire, but all the information we had came from some hysteric granny that lives to spread rumors, so you can imagine…”
“So there was no fire?”
“No. Well, yes. But when the second part of our team came, they had already finished extinguishing…”
“Oh god!” You scream as another contraction comes.
“Master, I think I will go now…”
“What?!”
“I am just joking!” She smiles nervously.
“Contractions are only two or three minutes apart.” Tighnari says.
“I think it's time to start pushing.” You look at him.
“Oh god. I don't feel good.” He hides his face in his hands.
“Tighnari… Ouch!” You shrug.
“I can't do this… Did you get help? Any help?”
“I am afraid that I forgot.”
“Collei…” He looks at Collei hopelessly.
“Master! Are you ok?”
“He already fainted. Twice.” You smile, trying to hide that you are scared, but unsuccessfully.
“We can do it, don't worry.” She looks at you. “I think… Yes, I can help. No, I WILL HELP!” Collei grabs Tighnari that already lays on the floor, half dead.
“Master! Do you hear me?”
“Mmmm… Yes. I need water.”
“No water for you! Your wife is ready to have your baby. Do you understand?”
“Oh no.” Tighnari whines.
“Oh yes. Time to wake up!”
Collei helps him to stand up. After a moment, he looks ready until he doesn't.
“Not again! You are one of the best forest watchers! You know everything about nature and you are scared of this?!”
“I… I don't think that I can do this.” Tighnari looks at her with a blank stare on his deadly pale face.
Collei comes to him and shakes him like a paper doll. “Get it together! The baby will come right now and right here! Whether you like it or not!”
“Oh my… Collei! Damn.” You smile at your friend's enthusiasm. “I would love to watch this drama, but I don't think we have any more time.”

“Okay, okay! One more push!” says Collei with a supportive smile.
“I love you, I love you, I love you. You are amazing.” Tighnari looks at you while holding your hand tightly, and out of nowhere, a huge relief comes through your body like a tsunami.
“He is here!” Collei screams louder than your crying newborn baby.
Tighnari squishes your hand even harder while his gaze jumps from you to your son and back.
“He is so beautiful.” You cry. “And has huge lungs like his auntie.” You smile through the tears at Collei.
“Me???” She looks at you and starts sobbing uncontrollably while wrapping the baby in blankets from the cabin
“Let me, I will do it.” Tighnari comes to her with a wide smile. After a moment he comes to you, puts a long kiss on your forehead, and shows you your baby with proudness radiating from his face.
You take your baby in your arms and the blanket slips a little, exposing the baby´s beautiful ears.
“This is our baby. Our son.” Tighnari cries.
“Our son.” You repeat after him. “With the cutest ears, I have ever seen. And yes, even cuter than yours.” You grin with your heart so full of love that it could burst.

You left me dripping in the wax
A new chapter, guys!
The more time had passed, the worse Luisa felt. She felt weaker with each passing minute and this fact alone was enough for her to feel this disgusting knot in her throat. But right now even this didn't bother her as much as it should have normally. Her thoughts were coming back to Mirabel every second. What if something bad had happened? Luisa wanted to believe Abuela, but she couldn't. The fact that her grandmother acted so calmly made her sick. She was disgusted by how calm everything was. Mirabel deserved better than this.
Luisa wanted nothing more than to hug her baby sister.
Mirabel wasn't here. No matter how much Luisa looked for her. Her entire body was aching in exhaustion, more than ever before. She blinked and stared for her arms for a moment, clenching her hands into fists. It wasn't normal. Luisa felt weak again, just like at the ceremony yesterday. Her heart sank deeper. What was wrong with her? Why did she feel in such a way? Another thought of how behind her schedule she was already made her even more sick. How could this day be even worse?
The evening was a wreck. So much so that even Mariano's proposal was left for the better times. Luisa showed up almost at the end, red and out of breath after looking for Mirabel for the whole day. Why couldn't she just find her? Luisa needed her so much. She had to say it... If she only knew, she would say it a thousand times yesterday.
The possibility of Mirabel's life being in danger was actually evident. It wasn't something Luisa wanted to think about, but there was still a good chance of it. That's why she couldn't stay still. The first plan Luisa had was to go back out again.
Her papa grabbed her by the shoulder. "How are you doing?"
She blinked in surprise, turning over and staring down at his glasses. Only Mirabel and Agústin wore them. "I'll look for Mirabel."
He shook his head. "Mija, I know how worried you are..." But he didn't, he couldn't know. It was Luisa's responsibility to keep them safe. "But I can see how tired you are. You better take some rest."
"I can't. Mirabel needs my help." The idea of staying at home was twitching Luisa's stomach. "We can't just ignore it." She muttered, crossing her arms.
"I and Juli are going to look after her once she's done with the dishes," Papa explained. It was better than nothing, but still. She couldn't stay behind right
"I'm going to keep searching," Luisa said firmly and, before her dad could stop her again, burst out. Besides, she also had to do her workload that she ignored today. Luckily, being taller than anyone and possessing huge physical strength, Luisa could easily disappear from her parents' view before they could even try to stop her.
-
The next time she returned was when the sun started to dawn. Completely exhausted and drained out. Her body could barely keep moving after all this torture, begging for nothing more than to lie down. The state of her mind wasn't any better. Even being outside in the darkness of the night was bad enough. And chained with Mirabel's disappearance and these strange problems with her gift it really took the rest of her mind right now.
Luisa sat next to the brewing kettle, waiting to get her coffee.
Julieta rushed to her immediately. "Lu, where have you been? We were worried sick!" She palmed Luisa's face, looking thoughtfully to see if she was injured.
"I haven't found her." Luisa blinked sleepily, staring into the empty cup. Her head was boiling stronger than the water on a stove.
Her mother shook her head in exhaustion. "We were so worried about you." Luisa didn't answer. Her mom sighed harshly. "Go to bed, okay?"
"I need to find Mirabel," Luisa muttered under her breath, not willing to stay inside. Exhaustion was getting into her skin, almost turning it inside out. The sweat from a long search was running down her forehead. She wasn't used to feeling this tired, her gift often pushed exhaustion behind. (A little part of her felt that there was something strange with her gift, but Luisa was too tired to actually notice it)
"Right now you need to sleep."
Luisa wanted to answer, but right now it was too hard to focus on what was going on around her. Maybe she really needed to rest. But again, she also had to ensure that Mirabel was okay. She always wanted for everyone to be safe, as long as she could actually remember herself. The idea of abandoning the search made her brain twirl in guilt.
Before Julieta could actually stop her, Luisa stormed back outside. She might be a little tired, but there was no time. The possibility of Mirabel being hurt was too much for her to handle. And a little undersleeping wouldn't be that bad. Maybe her sister had fallen somewhere and broken her spine? Maybe Mirabel was attacked? There were so many possibilities that Luisa's mind was going wild. She was always worrying about her family's safety and it didn't help her to collect herself and rethink her options. Right now, the only goal was to ensure Mirabel was safe.
-
Her mind was foggy. Luisa felt like she was swimming under the sea, pushing her body against the wild nature. Her voice got hoarse already from all this screaming. God, she was tired. More than usual. What time was it exactly?
She leaned against the tree, breathing heavily. There were black spots in her vision. Luisa groaned, hoping to suppress this tiredness. People were... asking her something? What was going on? She was so tired... The world didn't stop spinning. She needed to find Mirabel...

The Moon and Sun (Big Sib Reader x Gon/Killua)
Ch 15: It's too much
Synopsis: You didn't think it was possible, but you've finally reached your limit. And it just so happened to be when one of your boys needed you the most.
-------------
A month.
A whole month of being subjected to various presences appearing and disappearing.
One full month of being swarmed by ants and forcing yourself to operate through your own limits.
Four entire weeks of hell…but did you regret it? Not one bit. At least not in the ways that mattered. You didn't regret training to get stronger. To endure more.
You didn't regret creating a new ability that worked well with ‘your little problem’.
You most certainly didn't regret leaving anymore. Enough time had passed for you to be certain. You were free.
Everything that had been weighing you down these past thirteen years was finally lifted. The fear of facing anyone from your former clan was gone for now. You could let your paranoid exterior melt away without the fear of Reik coming for you. Of course you'd still be cautious with your aura, but you'd allow yourself to relax a little.
Suffering a month in hell was worth knowing for sure your presence wouldn't endanger Gon and Killua.
No, you'd rather die quietly somewhere than be responsible for more deaths. You didn't want them involved with what might happen. What had already happened once.
Maybe that was why you kept pushing them away. Why you simply couldn't tell them about who you used to be. You were scared of letting them close to you. Scared of losing another kid who you loved like family. To allow yourself to become attached only for them to be injured or worse.
The best option would have been to leave for good. But you just couldn't do that anymore. Instead letting yourself be selfish and push them away, only to pull them closer when YOU thought was best.
It wasn't fair, and you knew that.
But you were never a good person. You'd done so many horrible things. It was inconceivable for someone like you to be deserving of love and kindness.
Yet you craved it.
A life worth living with people worth living for.
So you'd continue to push and pull until they eventually had enough of you. Until they wanted nothing to do with you. A price you were willing to pay as long as they were safe.
The month had gone by far too soon for your liking. You didn't think you were ready to face the boys after leaving so suddenly. After lying directly to Gon's face. You wanted to see them more than anything, but did they want to see you?
You had a feeling they wouldn't.
Though it didn't really matter at the moment. You'd promised to meet them at the entrance today. You were nothing if not true to your word. So at the break of dawn, you took off.
Something about today didn't feel right. If you were an ordinary person you would have chalked it up to nerves. Maybe even brushed it off. But you knew your body and right now it was trying to prepare you for something.
As if sensing an inconvenience before it even happened.
Hopefully an inconvenience was all it would be. You don't think you could take it right now if it was something big.
Former hunter instincts had to count for something right?
You were just glad it had finally stopped raining. You should be able to make it to the border in thirty minutes tops. Plenty of time to figure out what to say to your boys when you saw them.
It hit you then, that they weren't the only ones you needed to prepare yourself to talk to. You'd have to confront the amateur hunters and tell them….
Kite was most likely dead.
You couldn't find him. You, who was able to track anything and anyone, couldn't find him. Not a trace of his aura that indicated he was still here in the NGL. Sure there was a chance he was able to retreat somewhere safely. But you highly doubted he would have been able to escape without killing the cat chimera ant. It wouldn't have let him leave otherwise.
You could try to convince yourself with fake scenarios all you wanted, but the one thing you couldn't make excuses for was the blood. So much of it splattered into the dirt.
More than you'd lost.
The trees in the surrounding area were chopped down with precision. Meaning Kite had fought, or at least tried to.
You knew. You've known since the first day you came here and couldn't sense him. But you still wanted to foolishly believe he was okay. Knowing your heart would surely break if the opposite was true. That once again, your own cowardness had killed someone you cared about.
So you convinced yourself until the nest was checked top to bottom, Kite was alive and well. You could let yourself pretend things were fine until then.
You could just barely make out the two giant trees by the entrance. A damn shame you still hadn't come up with anything to say. You could always say sorry, but it didn't feel like enough.
Not after both boys had gone through the trouble of making sure you wouldn't die.
What to do, what to d-
You immediately stopped in your tracks. Body tensing as an eerie feeling washed over you. Something cruel and strong had just been born. The malice faint due to your distance, but the fact you could feel it from all the way over here told you enough. It's existence was suffocating.
Worse than the other three that awakened prior.
If that was the king then…
You shook off the thought. Instead, pushing your legs to run at top speed. The sooner you met up with the boys, the better. You'd be able to fill in the other hunters that were here faster.
Yet the closer you got to the border, the heavier the pit in your stomach got. By now you should've been able to sense the boys. But there was no trace of them. Instead, two very different presences stood by the entrance.
You blinked twice to make sure you were seeing correctly. And sure enough that was NOT Gon and Killua. You hesitated on moving forward, waiting to see if your boys would eventually come out and when they didn't, your mind immediately went into a frenzy.
Creating the worst possible scenarios as to why your kids weren't here. Were these Morel's pupils? Did they hurt the boys? Did something happen to them?
Both men ahead of you felt tense. Anxiety radiating off of both of them, along with a little bit of guilt.
Guilt?
You were in front of them in an instant. Both jumping back in shock. The one with the pompadour took a fighting stance shortly after. Sizing you up before he realized he was completely outclassed.
The domineering presence Knuckle was used to having over others slipped away. It stood no chance up against yours. Looming and dangerous. Your resolve growing stronger by the second. Making both him and Shoot feel smaller than they were.
Insignificant.
“Who the hell are you?” Ice.
Pure ice in your tone. Not an ounce of nen was used, and yet your demeanor alone was overpowering. But Knuckle could faintly see a protective anger rising.
Protective and defensive. Like an animal defending its young. And if that was the case, then you were most likely the one the boys were talking about. Their big sibling that they described as tired and unbothered most of the time. Yet had the potential to be just as menacing if you wanted to. And right now, you were more than menacing.
Your rising anger made sense considering how things must've looked. It was best to try and defuse the situation before you actually killed one of them. Shoot, who'd come to the same conclusion, was already on it.
“You're Y/n right? Gon and Killua talked highly of-”
“Where are they. What did you do.” Your accusation hanging heavily in the air. The tension so heavy, neither of them could speak.
It was as if you believed they killed them. And that definitely warranted your reaction. But it was far from the truth. The boys were perfectly fine. So why couldn't either of them tell you that?
Why was the way your tired eyes glared at them so paralyzing?
Afraid to even say the wrong word.
“They stayed behind. They put up a good fight-” Knuckle didn't get a chance to finish before you were already gone.
Both men letting out a sigh of relief once they were sure you were gone.
“We almost died just now, didn't we?” Shoot mumbled.
“...It’s no wonder Gon and Killua struggled in combat. With a power like that protecting them, they wouldn't even need to lift a finger. Let alone worry about getting hurt. If they'd been with the boys back there, we would've lost for sure.” Knuckle noted.
He could see why both boys respected you, but damn did you put the fear of God in him.
—--------
You zipped between the giant trees with ease. Anxious of what you'd find beyond them. You were hoping with your entire being they were okay. Because if something happened to those boys….
You might just have to break your promise.
You stood at the entrance and immediately focused your eyes. Your heart beating rapidly against your ribcage until you finally saw them.
But something was clearly wrong.
Unbridled sadness was in both of their auras. Grief mixing in. Gon was hunched over with Killua right besides him.
Were those tears?
Your body seemed to move on its own. Once again rushing, but this time your purpose was different. Wanting to comfort them from whatever happened while you were gone.
“Hey, hey, hey, what happened? Kid, you're crying.” Your tone much different than the one you used with Knuckle and Shoot. Soft and warm. Enough for both boys’ heads to shoot up in your direction.
“Y/n?” Gon hesitantly asked before it registered that you were really there.
“Y/n!”
You barely had enough time to think before you were engulfed in a tight hug. Arms wrapped so tightly around you it bordered on hurting. It took a few seconds for you to return it.
You could feel Gon shaking against you. Head pressed firmly against your stomach as he continued to cry.
“I was-I was too weak! I let you down!”
Your heart broke at his sob. You knew he was always so hard on himself. That every time something went wrong he'd blame it on his own shortcomings. So why the hell in your idiot mind did you think it was okay to add even more pressure to that. To say ‘win because I'll be waiting.’
“I’m so sorry! I tried, I really tried my best but it just wasn't good enough!” His grip tightened slightly around you.
You did your best to rub soothing circles into his back. How many times had you assured him it was never his fault? How many more would there be in the future? It didn't matter. You'd continue to reassure him as many times as it took for the weight on his shoulders to be lifted. As many times as he needed.
“You didn't let me down. You know I could never be disappointed in you right?”
He shook his head against you, unbelieving in your words. And once again you blamed Ging for constantly setting his son up to compare himself to others. He couldn't do this or he couldn't do that. He wasn't as strong as so-and-so.
That didn't make him any lesser of a person and it never would.
“Look at me. Can you do that? Let me see you?” You gently coaxed his head up, taking in his ashamed expression. Tears and snot alike running down his face. But right now you could care less about that.
“I don't care if you were able to get those game pieces or not. I'm just relieved you're okay. That you're both okay.” Your eyes briefly glancing over towards Killua who still stood a little ways away.
“You did your best and that's all I could ask for. Okay? Don't beat yourself up over nothing.”
“But Kite-” Gon tried to protest.
“I'm sure that old geezer and his gang of goons will be able to find him. And you know he wouldn't be upset with you either. He'd be just as proud you did your best. So please don't be upset about something that's out of your control. You did just fine.”
You hoped that would've been enough to calm him down. His tears had stopped, but his grip hadn't waivered. Opting to once again press his head into your stomach. To let your warm presence engulf him before it once again disappeared.
“Don't leave us again.” He pleaded.
A promise you couldn't make just yet. Something was stopping you from doing it. A feeling of uncertainty. So instead you settled on-
“Let's get you and Killua home.”
Home. Your home was with them. And that was finally enough for Gon's arms to go lax around you. Nodding feebly and keeping as close to you as possible for now.
Your gaze once again drifted towards Killua. He wasn't crying anymore, but he still looked very tense.
“And you? How are you feeling?” You made a gesture for him to come closer. Wanting to hug both of your boys. This past month taking it's toll on you.
“I'm fine.” The answer felt distant. Almost dismissive. You could see that he was lying to you, but that wasn't the issue. He wasn't lying because he didn't want you to worry, but because he didn’t think you had to know. Deserve to know.
However, there was so much hesitation there, as if he was fighting with himself to not run over to you.
You didn't like this and how the looming feeling from earlier seemed to intensity.
—------------------
It was surprising how empty the jeep was. You'd grow used to being packed up like sardines. To being surrounded by so many people. Something you never thought would happen.
In a sense you were glad. You wouldn't feel their heavy stares as much when you told them about Kite. Or perhaps you felt the guilt wouldn't weigh as much. Yet you knew the outcome would be the same regardless of if they were all here or not.
You'd stammer your way through an apology and ultimately be hated for not being able to find him.
It was only Mon, Stick, and Spin who came this time. The later sitting in the back with you and the boys. You were dreading when she'd ask the inevitable question. It was only a matter of time.
Gon clung tightly to your arm, refusing to relinquish your comfort for even one second. And while you knew he was hurting, you couldn't even begin to imagine what the other three were going through.
Uncertain of their mentor’s fate, yet still holding strong.
You wished the same was true for you. You'd cried that first day. Seeing the aftermath of what that stupid cat did. Hell, the sight was enough to make you pass out.
But you knew it wasn't your place to grieve. You had absolutely no right to be upset when his students had known him for years. Who were you to make a fuss? Just because you had feelings for him?
To act out like that would be selfish and inconsiderate. Disgraceful.
You'd thought about pulling the boys to the side and explaining it to them. That no matter how upset they were about Kite, it wasn't their place or their right to cry in front of the amateur hunters about what happened.
But….
They were just kids.
Their emotions were valid. To say otherwise would diminish them. To say ‘stop crying, you don't deserve too’ would be cruel. All too reminiscent of your own upbringing. The last thing you wanted was to repeat the mistakes inflicted on you.
So you continued let Gon sniffle against your arm and Killua lean against your shoulder. You continued to sit in the awkward silence as Spin sat from across you. You continued to bite your tongue until you were spoken to directly.
“Were you able to get anything on Kite?” Spin asked at last. Though her demeanor was a lot less hostile than you were expecting.
In front of you were two choices. You could either lie or tell the truth.
‘I’m sorry. I was so focused on training that I didn't really have the time to look.’
Definitely not. How disgusting of a human being would you have to be to say that? Like you couldn't have cared less about him after running away. You were sure you'd be tossed out of the jeep for that one.
‘I searched everywhere for him,. but all I found was blood. I'm sorry but he's gone. There was nothing I could do about it.’
But if you said that then you'd have to admit to yourself he was actually dead. And you weren't quite ready for that yet. As much as they deserved to know, you just couldn't say it.
“Every trail I followed ended up leading to nothing. My senses are still dulled from my previous injuries, so I wasn't able to get much anyways…I'd place a wager he's probably using zetsu to keep out of the ants’ radar. Don't count him out just yet.”
Lies.
All lies.
But you'd fooled yourself into believing they were true.
As long as there was hope, there was a chance.
“Thank you for trying. And before you start apologizing again, don't. Got it?” She warned.
As if sensing your inner turmoil. But in reality it was the image of you knocking on death's door just to say you were sorry to them. To push your own needs aside to make amends.
There wasn't anything to make up for, at least not in her eyes.
So the conversation was left at that with a nod of confirmation from you.
Another long silence, except it was a bit more manageable this time. By now Gon's sniffles had completely stopped. A few minutes later, it was him who interrupted the silence.
“Y/n.” He called.
You gave a small hum to show you were listening.
“You can make me stronger, can't you?”
You tensed up at the question. You very well could make both boys stronger, but you didn't want to use your clan’s methods to do it. Unfortunately for you, that was the only way you knew how. You should've said no.
“...Yes…” you answered.
“Then I want you to train me.” There was a resolve brewing in his eyes. One let you know he wouldn't take no for an answer.
“Knuckle and the other Hunters are going to save Kite, I'm sure if it.” He'd let go of your arm in favor of facing you fully.
“So I have to get a whole lot stronger, because Kite's coming back. And I won't disappoint him!”
Atta boy.
No more tears.
And before you could reassure him that Kite would never be disappointed, Spin decided to speak up.
“So your head's on straight after all?” It felt playful. Not angry or accusing. In fact, her aura surged with assurance. And when she addressed Gon, it was a light scolding coming from a good place.
“It's true that you may have met Kite before we did, but the fact remains that we've spent much more time with him than you have.”
A point you'd rationalized earlier. Maybe you were a little glad you weren't the one who had to explain it to them.
“If you were still mopping around after we'd crossed the mountains, I was gonna beat you up.” She paused before shaking her head. As if to rid the thought away before continuing.
“Then I'd tell you Kite wouldn't want to see you like this. Any of you.”
Because Kite had always been a good person. Even if he pretended to be a hardass sometimes.
“I'm positive that he's still alive. And I'm absolutely certain he wouldn't want the three of you to have any regrets. Especially you,” Spin pointed directly at you.
But however comforting her words sounded, you'd always blame yourself. How could you not regret being responsible for someones death? How could you sit in front of her and pretend everything was fine when you knew it wasn't?
Lies.
Lying to yourself and everyone around you.
You were hoping this was the inconvenience you were sensing earlier, but the feeling still hadn't left.
You tuned back into the conversation at a good time. With Spin encouraging Gon to continue training if he wasn't strong enough. Only for said boy to start doing handstands.
Whatever worked you guessed.
As long as he wasn't upset anymore.
Which reminded you, what the hell was that thing hovering over him? Another cat like creature. This one purple with a Cheshire grin. You were starting not to like cats anymore.
You'd ask him about it later. You directed your attention to Killua who continued to avoid your gaze.
Was he mad at you?
No, he didn't feel angry. If anything, he still felt sad. Bordering on depressed. Not good.
You'd be sure to talk to him later. It was unlike the small assassin to be so quiet. To be distant from both you and Gon. The melancholy look in his eyes certainly didn't help ease your worries.
“Hey Spin?” Gon called after a while.
“Hmm.”
“Why do you want to be a hunter?” His go to ice breaker. You don't think he'd ever tire of asking it.
“Because I need the money so that I can repay an enormous debt,” she answered. A thoughtful expression on her face before she continued explaining.
Telling the story of how when her and Stick were smaller, they did everything they could to help out a special type of swan. One that only inhabits an area around a certain mine.
Their only option was to try and buy the land. And here's the kicker: Kite was the one who helped finance it. The only one who listened to their concerns and helped without expecting anything in return.
If you thought you couldn't fall any deeper in love with him, then you were wrong.
Kite really was someone special, wasn't he?
If you ever saw him again, you'd spend the rest of your life making things right. He deserved that much.
—-------------------
“Hey, Y/n. Before we get off, we should really tell you something.” Gon started, almost anxiously.
You arched a brow at his worried tone before exiting the jeep to help him and Killua down.
“And what's that?”
“Well, you see….” He trailed off before Killua took over.
“We kinda promised a psycho lady we'd beat Knuckle and Shoot. And she said if we couldn't do it she'd um…. How strong did you say you were again?” Because now that Gon’s nen was temporarily gone, he wouldn't be able to defend himself.
But you didn't know about that yet.
So when you only gave them an even more baffled look, he didn't really blame you.
“Just look.” Killua pointed behind you.
Your eyes widening as you saw a visibly unstable aura consume the entire building.
“What the actual fuck?” You mumbled in disbelief.
This must've been what your body was anticipating. Such a malicious and bloodthirsty aura. Intent so thick it was actually visible to the naked eye. You would have sensed it sooner had you not been so preoccupied with the boys. But now that you were focusing on it, it was incredibly intense.
Yet, it would never be as bad as what you felt all those years ago. However evil this woman's was, it didn't hold a candle to Reik's. So after making sure both boys were behind you, you wasted no time barging in.
You had to use a small barrier of your own aura to ward off hers. Creating a makeshift shield in order to go deeper into the small home.
You scanned the area with your eyes until you saw what room she was in. Wasn't that your room??? You shook the thought off and approached the door.
“Remember, I tell you to leave, you leave. She feels fairly strong so if I can't handle her, I need to know you two will be safe.” You reminded.
They nodded, not wanting Palm to hear them.
You slowly opened the door. Only a sliver of a way open and you had to do a double take of what you were seeing. She was stabbing something.
WAS THAT A DOLL OF GON?!?!?
Whatthefuckwhatthefuckwhatthefuck
Why were there multiple of them?!?!?
Her head snapped towards you. Eyes bloodshot and crazed. But she wasn't looking at you. She was looking through you. As if you weren't there. Fixated on the two boys behind you.
“You'll pay for this.”
Both boys clung desperately to your side as she stood up. You lifted one of your arms up, preparing to use either your Caster's Net or your new ability. If she attacked, you'd stop her.
“You promised me.” She continued.
“You swore that you would take me to the NGL. You said if you broke that promise, you'd stick a thousand needles in your eye.”
Yup, you'd heard enough.
“You're not gonna lay a single finger on them. If you hurt even one of my boys…I'll make you suffer.” Your threat hanging heavier than hers.
Allowing your protective aura to be seen and envelop Gon and Killua. Palm finally met your gaze. Noticing you for the first time since you've been here.
“This doesn't concern you.” She snapped.
“The hell it doesn't, these are my kids!” You rebuttabled.
“I don't give a damn about what they promised you. They're children. They say things they don't mean all the time. You can't just hold that over their heads because you didn't get the result you wanted!” You were about at your limit already.
Too many damn expectations placed upon these boys. Just because they were strong, it didn't mean they weren't still kids capable of making mistakes. The more people like this you stumbled upon, the more faith you lost.
But before you could continue arguing with Palm, there was a tug on your sleeve. You looked down and were met with determined honey-colored eyes.
“I know me and Killua are still young, but I did mean what I said. I promised Palm we would win because I really thought we'd be able to do it. You're only as good as your word, right? So let me take responsibility.”
You wanted to double down. To tell him not to worry about it. That you'd take care of it. But you knew he was right. A promise made was a promise kept.
You just wished he hadn't used your own morals against you. That he was trying to follow them. He really was a good kid….And he was growing up too fast.
“Ugh, fine. Let the murder lady walk all over you, why don't you?” You gave in. Gon beamed up at you before glancing over your shoulder to address Palm.
“I'm sorry, is there a way that I can make amends?” He asked.
Palm seemed to think it over for a minute. The malicious intent in her aura slightly dissipating.
“There is! You must accomplish any one task that I set before you.”
Why did that sound familiar? Oh, you knew why. It was the same thing you told the boys when they were so adamant on paying you back for Greed Island. But you didn't have a very good feeling about what Palm wanted from Gon.
“Wait a sec! Think about how Gon is feeling!” Killua tried to defend, but as always, the boy in green was quick to make an impulsive decision.
“Fine. Okay.”
There wasn't even a second of silence before Palm made her request.
“Go out with me.”
“Deuueaugh!” A noise of utter and complete shock leaving you.
“ABSOLUTELY NOT!” You recovered.
“And why not?” Palm questioned, as if that was a perfectly normal response to why a grown woman shouldn't be going out with a 12 year old.
And the worst part, poor little Gon wasn't even phased.
“AM I HAVING A STROKE RIGHT NOW???? FIRST HISOKA AND NOW HER!?!? WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING!?!?”
“It's no big deal. I said I'd do anything,” Gon dismissed. But you simply weren't having it.
“DON'T ACT LIKE I'M THE ONE BEING CRAZY!!! KILLUA, HELP ME OUT HERE!”
“Y/n is right! Gon, do you have any idea what you're doing!?!? And you-” he pointed towards Palm.
“IS THIS REALLY HOW YOU WANT IT TO HAPPEN!?!? JUST THINK FOR A SECOND!”
“THAT'S NOT THE ISSUE! HE'S TWELVE! A BABY!!! I REFUSE TO ALLOW THIS!”
But all you and Killua received in return was a glare.
“This is none of your business. It's between Gon and me and it's settled. Just between Gon and me, mmmm, oh goodness,” she squealed.
“I said no.”
Your icy tone immediately catching her attention.
“Look, I'm sorry he promised you something he couldn't do. And I know he said he'd do anything to make it right, but I refuse to allow you to take advantage of my little brother. If your heart is desperately set on a date, then you can have me or you can get nothing. Understand?”
You didn't have time to go over the list of reasons why it was wrong for this grown woman to try and romance a kid. So to save time and get this over with, you offered yourself, the only other adult in the room.
Even though you wanted nothing to do with this woman.
But after the words left your lips her face immediately flushed. The phrase ‘you can have me’ making her internally squeal. And whether it was your fiery tone or the offer itself, your fate was unfortunately sealed.
“Yessss. You'd do just nicely.”
You heard the boys gulp from behind you. A slight protectiveness now radiating off both of them. Palm on the other hand, had finally calmed down. Apparently fantasizing about what to do.
“There's already somewhere I really want to go.”
“Today?” You questioned.
“I'm sorry but I just got back from a month of training. I need some time to unwind before I can go anywhere. That and I'd like to spend some time with my boys.” You explained.
You already had a huge headache from just conversing for a few minutes. You'd be snippy and pissed the entire day if she forced you to go anywhere now.
But that wasn't exactly the answer Palm wanted to hear. A knife placed firmly against your throat.
“Don't you dare-!” Killua made a move to disarm her, but you raised a hand to signal him to stop.
The bags under your eyes increasing significantly. Tired and unimpressed. Like you were over this entire situation.
“What are you talking about? We are going out. You said you'd take his place, didn't you?” You didn't like how calm her voice was right now. Knowing one wrong word and she'd surely snap again.
“Yes but-”
“THEN WHY ARE BLOWING ME OFF FOR THESE BRATS!!!! WE'RE DATING AND THIS WILL BE OUR FIRST DATE! YOU HEAR ME!?!? OUR! FIRST! DATE!” She threatened you with her knife.
You used your finger to lower the blade away from your neck. Was this the first time you were threatened at knife point? No. More than anything you found it annoying.
You could feel a steady out poor of defensive aura from behind you. Both boys preparing to swing if Palm did anything to you. You appreciated it, but they were only overwhelming your senses more.
“A first date should be memorable, yeah? A lot of planning goes into making something so special. Just give me the rest of the day to get my bearings.”
And in your exhausted state, you grabbed her hand and put it directly over your heart.
“You have my word we'll go on a date tomorrow.”
She dropped her knife and avoided your eyes. A bashful feeling over taking her aura.
“Sorry. If you would have explained that first, I wouldn't have gotten so angry.”
“It's fine. Though things would be a little easier if you gave me your number. I'd fill you in on all the details in the morning that way.” You explained.
You didn't mean for it to come out as flirtatious, but by the dark hue spreading across Palm’s face, she certainly took it as such.
“You…want my number?”
“Yes???”
“Ooh, you charmer. Would you also like to know where I'm staying so you can pick me up?” She hid her face behind her hands.
“Uh, no thank you. Just your number is fine.”
—-------------------
When Palm left you just about collapsed on the floor. You were both tired and drained from dealing with her seemingly never ending mood swings.
“You holding up okay, Y/n?” Gon asked.
“I need ten minutes of complete silence. Please.” You said exasperated.
Just this morning had been a lot. Hell, you'd hardly had a break this entire month. Constantly using your ability to sense for danger. The murky feeling of bloodlust and everything malicious swarming you.
Only to come back home to more of it. So much that it lingered in the small home. It wasn't that the feeling scared you, but you were fed up with it being all you could feel.
You knew the boys had good intentions trying to subtly defend you. But their added hostility only further drained you.
You just wanted a small break from everything negative. Just a few minutes of nothing so your body could reset.
You were only human after all.
The duo didn't push and let you have your space. Telling you to take as much time as you needed.
You truly were grateful they were so understanding.
You glanced around your room with a frown.
Your bed wasn't even here anymore. And even if it was, you weren't gonna go digging through all the Gon dolls to find it. You wanted to let out a groan of frustration seeing various strands of black hair left on the floor.
Just your luck you'd come back to a mess.
What else could possibly go wrong today?
You used your foot to clear up some space on the ground. You were used to sleeping on the floor anyways. Laying down for a few minutes wasn't so different. Curling into yourself and reaching for Kite's hat in your pocket.
Truthfully you should've handed it off to the amateur hunters. The one thing he left behind. They deserved to have something of his. But for some reason you just couldn't let go of it.
Not until you were certain he was gone.
It'd been a sorta sense of comfort for you. His scent helping you through your worst days in the NGL. Clutching it close when you realized you couldn't find him. When you allowed yourself to remember what brought you to this point.
Though you were certain it smelled more like you now than it did him.
You didn't dare wear it. Sure he'd given it to you, but it didn't feel right putting it on. Like you were tainting his memory.
‘He’s not dead,’ a small voice argued.
‘But what if he is?’ another sounded off.
Uncertain yet certain at the same time.
You just wanted to relax and forget everything for a second. Bringing the familiar blue hat up and hugging it close to your chest.
You'd give it back when you saw him again. It was a promise.
—------------------
Rather than 10, it took 30 minutes for you to calm down enough. Deciding you definitely weren't sleeping here tonight with how much of Palm’s presence still lingered.
Which brought you to where you were now. The boys wanted to get some training in. Asking if you'd accompany them to a nearby gym so they could fill you in on everything that's happened.
You agreed of course. Rationalizing you could also start planning for your date tomorrow. Gah! You had no idea what you were doing.
“Thank you again for stepping in back there. But you know you didn't have to, right?” Gon said as he lifted up a barbell. Much to the other gym goer's surprise.
“Of course I had to. It's my job to look after both of you. And if that means going on a date so you don't get taken advantage of, then so be it.” You explained with a reassuring grin.
He was happy to see you were doing better. Even if it kinda was his fault you felt drained in the first place.
“Hey Gon, there's something I wanted to ask you.” Killua started.
The boy in green gave a small hum in return.
“When I heard you talking to Palm, it seemed like you were right there in your element. Sooo, have you ever been on a date before?”
The question caught you completely off guard. What shocked you even more was Gon's answer.
“Sure, plenty of times.”
Both you and Killua doubled over in shock.
“Except, most all of them were with my Aunt Mito.” He clarified.
Then they weren't really dates. For a second you were scared. Worried? Good for him if he was meeting other kids his age, but you had a feeling that wasn't the case. And as Killua asked Gon to explain what he meant by most, you were correct.
“Sometimes ships with all female crews would stop by Whale Island. And some of them would only go out with guys who were younger than them.”
God fucking damnit. Seems he always had a knack for attracting creeps.
“I'd show them around town and they'd teach me a bunch of stuff.”
“Stuff?!?”
But Gon only laughed at you and Killua's reactions.
“They call women like that cougars. Isn't that crazy.”
He stopped laughing once he noticed you'd tensed up.
“Names and addresses. Now.”
“It's not that big a deal, “ he tried to brush off.
“Yes it is! You're a tater tot. Do we need to have a talk about stranger danger? You can't just go on dates with adults.” You lectured.
“I’m sure I'm not the only one. You've been on lots of dates too, right Killua?” Gon directed his attention to the mini assassin.
“Huh!?! No way. I was too busy.” Killua answered.
“All of my time went to assassin training. And we've been together since I retired.”
You noted he looked a little sad after he said those words. Grief once again mixing with his aura. What could've made him so distraught?
“Oh yeah…What about you, Y/n? How old were you when you went on your first date?” Gon questioned, hoping your answer would vindicate him.
“However old I am now.”
The sound of weights dropping caught your attention. Head snapping up just in time to see the bewildered expressions on the duo's faces.
“No way! This is gonna be your first date!?!”
“Yeah, you're ancient and you're telling me you've never gone out with someone!?!?”
You gave a small glare at Killua's comment before responding.
“Is it really that surprising? I'm not the biggest people person. Besides, romance never really interested me before, so I had no use for it.”
To be honest, you'd never really had feelings for someone until….
Until Kite.
“Wait a minute, you said ‘before.’ Does that mean you're interested now?” Killua asked with a teasing smirk. His previous gloomy demeanor gone.
“I bet they're interested in Kite~” Gon added with a sly grin of his own.
You couldn't stop the heat spreading across your face. Earning giggles from the two boys in front of you.
“Oh no. You two aren't gonna start this up again. We're in public.” But despite your warning, they continued teasing you.
“Bet you wanted your first date to be with him!” Gon said before dodging the weight you threw.
“Bet you want your first kiss to be with him!” Killua laughed out, jumping over the 50ibs weight you flung at him.
“Shut up you demons!”
But before you could chase them down, Gon's phone started ringing. The lightheartedness from the atmosphere being replaced by a more serious one.
He quickly put it on speaker before answering.
“Yeah, hello?”
“It's Knuckle,” the voice on the other end sounded.
“We've located and secured Kite.”
Those words alone lifted every burden from your shoulders.
He was alive.
You wanted to cry with relief. All this time wondering if he was okay. If he somehow managed to make it out with his life. Your body anxiously awaiting your order to run after him. To see him.
But once again your instincts said otherwise. Not to get ahead of yourself just yet.
“Really? So Kite is okay then? Gon asked. But Knuckle went silent.
“You still there?” He tried again.
A few more seconds of silence before the ball finally dropped.
“...I have reason to believe that Kite is being controlled by the enemy.”
So Pitou had won after all. Yet you still foolishly hung onto the hope that there was something you could do to help. To resist and overcome their control.
You wouldn't find out until tomorrow that you were dead wrong.
“So I'd like to tell you he's okay, but I can't.” Knuckle concluded. Being as transparent as he could knowing how much Kite meant to Gon.
But his honesty didn't deter the boy in green. Not in the slightest.
“Don't worry, I'm sure there's some way we can bring him back.”
Knuckle left Gon with the information that it would take three days for everyone to get here. And that all three of you should be careful with the outpour of soldier ants trying to imitate their king. Without the queen, they decided to take whatever power they could for themselves.
Gon assured him he would before hanging up. Letting all the information soak in. And then…
“ALL RIGHT!” He cheered.
Turning to you and Killua with a bright grin on his face.
“I knew that Kite was still alive!”
You wanted to share in his enthusiasm, but you knew better. Things never worked out the way you wanted to. The nagging feeling in your stomach reminding you.
Warning you something wasn't right.
—----------------------
“Girls like flowers, right?” You asked, eyeing a small boutique.
“You're really taking this whole date thing seriously, aren't you?” Killua noted.
“Kinda have to. I don't want her to try and stab us. So, uh, about the flowers?” You didn't have a plan whatsoever. Everything you knew about romance was surely outdated.
And you were sure chivalry might've been too old-fashioned to try. You thought about cursing your younger self for hanging around so many old people, but then you remembered why you did it.
You and your endeavors to attain anything sweet. It was also because you much rather preferred their company over your loudmouthed peers.
“You should get her roses. Lots of girls think it's romantic,” Gon answered.
“Thank you my little ladies man.” You ruffled his hair before once again catching sight of the purple cat over his shoulder.
“I've been meaning to ask you, what's that thing hanging around you.” You pointed at the creature you could only assume was made of nen.
“Oh that. It's part of Knuckle’s ability. He called it APR, and this thing means I've gone bankrupt.”
Your face scrunched up in confusion.
“Bankrupt?”
“It means he can't use his nen for an entire month,” Killua explained.
Ah, so that was why his aura was so faint. But it didn't exactly explain why Killua was so upset. His mood once again decreasing.
“I'd tell you that's unfortunate, but if anything it's gonna make your training a lot easier.” You eyed the prices of the roses and scowled. God you were poor.
“Really!?!” Gon exclaimed, looking up at you with pure excitement.
“Definitely. You gotta work on your physical skills before you can focus on nen…. But if you want that thing gone, just tell me.”
You quickly put back the bouquet you were looking at, only for Killua to pull it back out and slap some money on the counter. You gave him an incredulous look that he decided to brush off.
“You can get rid of it?” Gon asked.
“More like sever the bond between it and you. It just depends on the type of curse. Something following you is easy to get rid of. But a condition with a consequence I can't do. Remember Genthru?”
You made a promise to pay Killua back for the flowers. It was quite frankly pathetic to be accepting money from a child. To be unable to afford anything and rely on someone else to take care of it. You were the one supposed to be taking care of him. Not vice versa. Maybe you should start looking for work after this ant business was finished.
“Yeah…I think I'm gonna keep the curse though. It'll make me stronger.”
“Atta boy….So how do we feel about serenading?”
—-----------------------
You laid down comfortably on a couch you don't remember being here before you left. You were grateful for it nevertheless. The TV playing a report of a chimera ant incident that happened earlier in the day.
A cheetah ant to be exact.
What was it with cat chimera ants and being the absolute worst?
You'd kick its ass if you ever saw it in person. ‘Bring someone faster.’ It wanted fast? It'd get more than fast.
Right now Gon was taking a shower. Then Killua. And finally you. You really needed one. It'd been so long since you had a proper bath. You couldn't wait to scrub away all the grime you accumulated last month.
You couldn't wait to sleep either. A good rest before forcing yourself into the most uncomfortable situation of your life. Which reminded you, your poor room was still trashed.
“Might as well,” you mumbled. You didn't feel like going in there and still feeling Palm's dark presence. Instead, you conjured up your nen in your palm and made a small figure.
Within a few seconds, a little jester marionette materialized.
“Henry, go clean my room.” You commanded.
The puppet gave a salute before trotting away. Strings of nen attaching from itself to you.
Killua watched the entire ordeal go down. You'd never done that before. Was this something else you had once again hidden from them? Another secret that wasn't to be questioned?
Would you be mad if he asked?
He wasn't sure how to act around you anymore. Afraid if he said the wrong thing you'd leave again. It was getting harder and harder to let himself be comfortable. Not wanting the safety you provided to be yanked away like nothing.
He was sure he loved you with his whole heart.
But what if he confided in you about what happened, only for you to vanish. To show vulnerability only to be left even more hurt.
‘One day, you'll leave Gon behind to die and Y/n won't be there to save him. You'll end up hurting both of them.’
‘You must stay out of Gon's life if you're unable to beat Shoot. Then you'll have to explain to Y/n that you're nothing but a coward. You think they'll still be proud of you after that?’
He was trying so hard not to break down. To run into your arms and seek out your reassurance. But…
But you left him.
When they both needed you the most, you left.
“You've been eerily quiet today. It's unlike you,” you tried to jest. Your voice snapping him from his thoughts.
“I’m just tired.”
You frowned at his dismissive response. You knew he was lying, but you also knew if you brought it up, he'd only become more closed off.
You got up and approached until you were standing right in front of him.
“Killua, be honest with me. What happened?”
His name. You must've been serious. You must've been worried. You wouldn't be worried anymore if you knew the truth.
“Nothing.”
Your patience, your kindness, your love. He couldn't give into it. You'd say something comforting and then you'd leave. But it was okay. He was gonna be the one to leave soon anyways, so he wouldn't live to see it happen.
“It was obviously something if it's affecting you this much. You know you can tell me anything right?”
A hand on his shoulder and a reassuring squeeze. That was all it took for his resolve to break.
“I-”
But right before he spilled everything, the bathroom door opened. Gon exiting with his hair unusually floppy.
“Alright, it's all yours Killua.”
Killua spared a look back at you and knew this conversation was far from over. He rushed into the bathroom before you could question him further. Turning on the water just in time to hear you tell Gon he looked like a wet dog.
You two would be just fine without him.
You always liked Gon better anyways.
—-------------
You had a good hour before your date with Palm, resulting in a very chaotic morning. Brushing your teeth vigorously and making sure you smelled half decent. Trying to make yourself presentable only to realize the suit you got yesterday was still at the tailors.
Well, more like the dress shirt and pants you got yesterday. But that was besides the point. You'd heard it was favorable to dress nicely for dates. Something formal usually being the way to go. More advice that was probably outdated.
You were trying your best, that had to count for something right?
If you went out right now, you'd be all sweaty when you met up with Palm. An alternative idea struck you. One that gave you the opportunity to talk to Killua in private about what happened.
“Hey, munchkin. Could you do me a favor and grab my suit for me? I know it's last minute but-”
“I don't mind. It's the least I could do for getting you into this mess.” Gon reassured.
You gave his head a pat before sending him on his way. Making sure to tell him to be careful. You didn't want to send him away, but you needed to get to the bottom of what was wrong with Killua. You had a feeling he wouldn't spill as long as Gon was there.
Maybe it had something to do with him?
You hoped not. For as long as you'd known the duo, they'd always been close. Maybe something was jeopardizing that. It made the most sense anyway.
You exited the bathroom to see Killua glancing anxiously at the door. As if willing Gon to come back. Maybe the issue was you? You don't know why the thought stung as much as it did. You took a minute to gather your thoughts before speaking.
“I'm not gonna force you to talk about what happened while I was gone if you're not ready. But whatever it is, I can see that it's affecting you. You're not laughing and joking around with Gon. You're not giving out your usual remarks. You're not being you. I won't force you, but I'll be right here ready to listen when you're ready. If you're ready.”
There you go again, making promises he knew you wouldn't keep. It felt genuine. Like you really did care, because if you didn't, you wouldn't have noticed the change in his behavior at all. He was sure he wasn't acting all that different. Gon hadn't brought it up, if he did notice.
But you'd always been able to see everything with those eyes of yours.
And Killua was once again on the verge of spilling everything. Fighting with himself to believe everything would be okay if he just told you what was going on. Before he knew it, he verbalized his doubts.
“You're here now, but how much longer until you're gone again? How can I trust you with my secrets when you won't even trust us with yours?” But they were the wrong ones.
And he knew immediately when your face went blank. Expressionless while you came up with a response. It was too late to take it back, but maybe a part of him didn't want to.
You'd tricked him. You'd pretended you were happy and then left in the middle of the night. They needed you. He needed you. If you'd just stayed, maybe Bisky wouldn't have gotten in his head. He wouldn't have felt so helpless that entire month. He wouldn't have to leave you and Gon forever.
“It's not that simple.” You started. For the first time, a look of regret in your eyes. Uncertainty.
“I wish I could tell you everything. Why I'm the way I am and why I've done the things I've done. But it's best I don't. I wish I could promise you I'd stop leaving, too. But I just can't.” You couldn't risk either one of their safeties. Of getting them involved with your own twisted affairs.
But all your deflection did was make Killua frustrated. Every damn time he wanted an answer, it was like walking on eggshells around you. You didn't trust him. You didn't trust either of them.
Was it because they were kids?
Was it because you didn't like them anymore?
Or were you just fed up with dealing with them?
His thoughts starting to spiral into something meaner. Something that wanted to hurt you as much as you hurt him when he woke up and you weren't there. Leaving with a note and a ‘good luck.’
It was your fault. If you'd just stayed, none of this would've happened. Gon wouldn't have lost his nen, and Killua wouldn't have to stay out of his life. If they'd never met you, he wouldn't be as soft as he was now.
‘That’s not true,’ a voice argued. But right now he wanted to blame someone for everything that's happened. You who was supposed to be there for him.
What you were trying to do now.
Well, it was too little too late for that.
“Why do you keep leaving? Why can't you just stay for once? Are we really that horrible that you can't stand being near us?” Killua was glaring at you now. Hurt evident in his eyes.
You knew they would eventually get fed up with you…but you didn't expect it this soon. You were the furthest thing from being prepared to handle this conversation. And it showed.
“What? Of course not. Where's all this coming from?” You questioned.
But Killua ignored it, not giving you the chance to change the subject.
“Then why!?! Why do you keep running away!?! Answer me! Do you even care about what we've been through this past month!?! How much we needed you!?!?” He couldn't stop the accusations from flowing out of his mouth. Too frustrated and angry to even try.
Taking everything he'd been bottling up out on you because there was no one else he could blame.
“Losing time and time again! Not being strong enough! Not being fast enough! Not being good enough! All the while wondering if you were okay! Where were you when Bisky was belittling me!?!? WHEN I NEEDED YOU!!!” His scream seemed to echo off the walls. Nothing but grief and hurt consumed his aura.
As if your absence was a betrayal of trust.
There were so many things you could've said. That you wanted to say. So many issues you could've addressed. So many worries you should've quelled. But you could feel yourself shutting down, mind choosing to focus on the wrong thing. The only one that didn't force you to take accountability. The one that was someone else's fault entirely. The one that you could fix.
“What do mean ‘belittling’? What did she say to you?”
Because your top priority would always be protecting them. Even if they ended up hating you for it.
But to Killua, it felt like you didn't give a damn at all. Your response after being told he needed you was to ask about Bisky? To once again try to change the subject? You didn't even try to comfort him.
You weren't trying, so why should he?
“It's none of your business.” It was quiet. Cold. Reminiscent of your own tone when you were mad.
The harshness temporarily caught you off guard. You don't think either of them had ever snapped at you before. But you couldn't let it deter you, not when you were finally getting to the root of the problem.
You knew Bisky had a habit of being cruel. Tough love was a better way to put it. And whereas you liked that about her back then, something about it now didn't feel right. Perhaps it was because you weren't as close to boys as you were now.
You weren't one to place blame, but whatever she said had pushed Killua too far. It made him insecure and distant. And if you just knew what exactly it was, you'd be able to help. To get rid of the issue and move past it.
So you moved closer, taking a small step forward. Trying to close the ever growing distance. You'd been through this song and dance before with your own sister. If you pushed any harder, he'd get upset. If you let it be, he'd resent you.
You'd rather have him yell at you for being a terrible person than have him suffer in silence.
“What did she say?” You tried again, voice softer. Another step forward.
But all you received in return was a glare before he was pushing past you. You should've let him. You should've given him the option to cool down. But you weren't thinking rationally right now. Too caught up in what the hell was said to this kid to make him act this way.
You. You and your absence.
“We're not done here.” You stopped him with a grab on his wrist. He flinched at your touch. Like you were gonna hit him. But the reaction happened too fast for you to catch.
“I didn't want to have to do this. I'm calling in my favor from Greed Island. Tell me what she said right now.”
His eyes widened, staring at you in disbelief. You said you wouldn't force him to talk about it, and here you were.
Liar.
Why? Why were you trying so hard to find out what Bisky said? Why did that matter more to you than him? Why was that the only thing you were focused on???
Why were you still pretending like you cared.
“You wanna know what she said so badly?” He couldn't stop the tears pinpricking his eyes. He couldn't disguise the hurt and anguish in his voice. But maybe he wanted you to know how much this affected him. To see exactly what was indeed your fault.
“SHE SAID THAT I WAS WEAK! THAT I WAS A COWARD! THAT ALL I'M DOING IS HOLDING GON BACK! SHE SAID IF I DIDN'T WIN I'D HAVE TO STAY OUT OF YOUR LIVES!!! DON'T YOU GET IT!?! SHE SAID I WASN'T GOOD ENOUGH!”
Your heart aches for him then. It all made sense now. The grief whenever he was around Gon. The sadness, the dark suffocating feeling of depression.
You wished you could've been faster at saying something. Of speaking words that would quell every worry. But it felt like you were stuck.
Because right now…all you could see was her.
Your sister who'd been taken far too soon from this world. The one who never really fit in with the rest of your clan. Who was different because to the rest of your people, she hadn't been good enough.
Who'd been told by the head of the clan that she was holding you back. That she was a burden.
It wasn't the exact same, but it felt familiar. You knew the effects of being told ‘you're no good.’ How it made someone doubtful of their own feelings and actions. Whether or not they deserved to have what they did.
You knew the right words to say, but they were stuck in your throat. You were used to seeing her eyes, but you were far from ready to see her fears as well.
It was too late when you finally found your voice again.
“Killua, you know that's not true. You are-” more than enough. But you never got the chance to finish. Perhaps if you'd been faster, things wouldn't have turned out the way they did.
“STOP PRETENDING THAT YOU CARE! IF YOU CARED YOU WOULDN'T HAVE ABANDONED US! WHY DON'T YOU JUST STAY GONE THIS TIME!”
He didn't mean it. He could never mean that. Wanting to take the words back once they were spoken. But once again, it was too late.
You could take a lot. You had taken a lot. You could handle being yelled at. You could handle it when you were called a disgrace. A brat. A horrible person. A bitch, and so much more.
You could handle being hit. Being stabbed. Shot at. If you tried hard enough, being around blood.
You could put up with just about anything if it involved someone you cared about.
But what you couldn't handle was having your actions called into question. You knew when you were wrong. When you made a mistake. When you were being disingenuous. You knew you weren't a good person, but to be told you were pretending just because Killua was upset….
Accusing you of not caring?
After everything.
Everything you'd done, every decision you'd made since Greed Island was because you did care. You were willing to die. You were willing to break your promise to someone who had been your world.
It made you upset.
You were tired of it always being your fault. You were tired of being the one who always had to fix everything.
Why were you even here?
Because they'd both inserted themselves into your life. You didn't ask for this. To carry every burden they had. To be a scapegoat everytime something went wrong.
You'd been living for yourself. Surviving. And you were doing just fine. You were safe.
And now you were here. Risking your own neck for a kid who was blaming you for not being strong enough. Blaming you for his failures.
You were frustrated and angry. Tired and drained. If you had to guess why your patience wore down so easily, you'd say it must've been the stress. From the previous month or from Palm, you couldn't say. Maybe it had to do with having a screaming match this early in the morning, too. But whatever it was, you finally snapped.
“WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME!!?! I'M TRYING, I AM TRYING MY DAMN BEST BUT I CAN'T JUST FIX EVERYTHING! SO WHAT THE HELL DO YOU EXPECT ME TO DO!?! TELL ME! SINCE YOU'RE SO KEEN ON POINTING OUT EVERYTHING THAT I’M DOING WRONG!”
You'd never yelled at either of them before. You'd never gotten this mad. And the sight was frightening. Killua never expected to be on the receiving end of your anger. He never thought he could. But he'd pushed you to your limit.
Then you said something that cut deep. That broke his heart entirely and shattered it. He'd started this, deciding to take out everything on you even though it wasn't your fault. But you'd be the one to finish it.
“I'M NOT YOUR FUCKING MOM AND I'M NOT YOUR DAD! SO STOP TRYING TO FORCE EVERYTHING ON ME LIKE I AM! YOU THINK I WANTED TO BE STUCK WITH YOU!?!?”
You shouldn't have said that. You really shouldn't have. Regretting the words as soon as they left your lips. It didn't matter how frustrated you were, you shouldn't have lost your cool with him. He was just a kid. One who hadn't been able to learn how to deal with his emotions. Who'd been denied the chance to.
“I didn't m-”
“I hate you.” He cut off.
Words you thought you'd never hear again. Spoken with so much venom it hurt. How could this be happening to you again? Why?
"I hate you.”
"You don't mean that." Your voice was pleading.
"I hate you. Just go away. Run away to Reik like you always do. You love him more than me anyways."
What did you do to deserve this again? Thirteen years later and you still didn't know how to handle it. But you said you'd be okay with them hating you as long as they were safe. You thought you could handle that.
But you could feel yourself breathing faster. Shaking with an unfamiliar feeling. Desperation? You tried to approach him again, but he seemed to recoil from your being.
Killua was right. You didn't love him. It was all an act. Everything was all an act. How foolish could he have been to think you actually cared about him.
But you'd promised. You promised to be there.
He made a dash for the restroom, trying to wipe his eyes as he shut the door. You were supposed to be different. You weren't supposed to shout at him like his mother. Fight with him like Milluki. Hurt him like Illumi. But you were just like his family. Using him for your own personal gain. Or had it all just been amusing to you?
All he had left was Gon.
But maybe he was using him too.
“Killua, unlock the door.”
He startled at the sound of the knob twisting. Knowing very well you could break down the door if you wanted to. Why couldn't you just leave him alone?
You didn't want to be stuck with him, after all.
“Look, I'm sorry. I didn't mean that. I'm just…This morning has been a lot. Everything's been a lot. Please, just let me explain. Talk to me.”
You sounded defeated. And a part of him wasn't satisfied with that. He wanted you to feel just as hurt as he was. He was used to arguing without boundaries. To saying whatever would get the other person the worst. And right now, he wanted to make you cry just as badly as you were making him.
“I hate you. And after we deal with the ants, I never want to see you again. You can stay with your boy toy for all I care. Just stay out of my life.”
He was making things worse. But he couldn't stop.
“You don't mean that.”
“You're right…I want you to stay away from both of us. You can't even fight anyways. You'd just continue to be a burden.”
Now that, he knew that would get you the most. You'd always tried to compensate for your fighting by using your tracking ability. You'd always pushed yourself to keep up. You did everything you could so you wouldn't hold them back.
But he didn't know it was too far. That it was the last straw.
'If you can't hold your own weight, then you serve no purpose.'
'You don't want to be weak and pathetic like Kari, do you?'
'There is no bigger burden to the clan than someone who jeopardizes their mission. You should understand, little one. Your strength is a gift. Don't weigh it down with your fears.'
A burden huh?
When were you ever not trying to be one?
You were a coward too.
You'd had enough. You were done trying. You didn't have it in you to keep fighting.
You were wrong, he wasn't anything like her.
Kari never blamed you. She never told you it was your fault. In fact, she told you the opposite. That she was the one holding you back. That you were this untouchable star who shouldn't be dimmed by someone like her.
And in that moment, if someone would have given you the choice between her or them... You would have chosen her. Because while she wasn't strong, while she wasn't the fastest, while she couldn't use nen for the life of her… She was enough. Her love was certain and warm. If you asked her what was wrong, she'd tell you.
She wouldn't have called you a burden.
He wanted you gone? Then you would leave. You were so tired of caring. Of giving everything and receiving nothing.
“... You got it. You won't have to worry about seeing me again after today.”
You walked away. Unable to hear the muffled sniffles through the door. Coming from someone who realized this was a very big mistake. Who wanted to take everything back.
You sat down on your bed, giving one drained sigh. When did your life become so complicated? Your day had just started and already you were on edge.
You'd been in arguments before. You'd been told you were hated before.
You would be just fine. You just had to figure things out.
Where would you go when the day was over?
The answer was simple. You'd go back to your clan…And then you'd be executed for being a traitor.
You were tired. Tired of everything. Tired of putting so much effort into surviving. Maybe you could plead your case?
'I don't care what you choose to do with me, but honor your former clansmen’s last wish, will ya? Kill some ants for me and make sure my friends are okay.’
Reik would honor it, if you got the chance to speak. He wasn't so cruel that he'd kill you immediately. Everything would be taken care of. And maybe you'd be able to rest in peace.
Yeah.
That sounded like a good plan.
You'd go on this stupid date and leave.
But what about your promise? The one that you even bothered living for in the first place. You couldn't keep it if you were….
You didn't believe in a higher power. Not after everything that you've witnessed in this life. However, you wanted to believe there was something after. That she was waiting for you. Though you knew you'd both end up in completely different places.
You didn't believe in ghost or demons. No, not really. But right now, you wanted to believe she'd listen when you talked. The only person you could confide in wasn't here, but somehow you hoped she'd hear you.
You had nobody else. Speaking into the abyss and praying somehow you'd feel better.
“I'm sorry I couldn't continue on for the both of us…But I'm so damn tired of trying. I've never been the best with people, and you know that.” you and her were alike in that way.
“I'm just….a disgrace…no matter what I do.”
You didn't even notice the tears sliding down your cheeks. You couldn't feel them.
“Hell, I developed a new ability just for it to go to waste. It's almost laughable how even when I'm trying my best, I'm still a failure.” Pathetic. Weak.
You placed a hand on your forehead as you remembered something.
“I never got to do all those things we wanted. Everything we said we would do when we were free. How about this…I'll give today my all. One good day for you. Of pretending to be who I used to.”
You were sure if anyone walked in on you right now, they'd think you were crazy. Yet you continued to talk. Self-loathing and having a pity party for yourself.
You never did deserve to be upset.
“Remember I used to smile a lot? I used to talk everyone's ear off, too. And fight. I never could stay out of those. It'll be like old times. I'll make a real effort before…. Before I come see you.” And the promise of seeing her face again, her mess of curls and honey colored eyes, it was enough incentive to go through with it.
So you finally shut down. Body operating on autopilot.

Fun Fact #15: In terms of power, Y/n (without holding back/with proper focus) ranks about as strong as one of the royal guards. But with their current limitations is only about as strong as Morel. Maybe Illumi (Even though he absolutely sucks 👎)

An: Cutting this off here so I can hopefully make a Christmas special. To give at least a little bit of fluff because the chapters???? They don't get happier 💀. Well maybe a little. I don't know, we'll see how much I decide to traumatize y'all in the upcoming chapters. And if you thought the fight with Killua was bad, the one with Gon I have planned is just pure sadness. Sorry I've been neglecting you, I wanted to vary my content a bit. That and huger chapters like this take a lot of my brain power to do.
