No more comics!
Well, after some time struggling to make ends meet, my time in comics has come to a close
Aside from maybe some side gigs, simple projects, I'll be out of the long form game for good.
So what's next? A new job, soon hopefully, but I'll also be moving into the TTRPG space with a book that's currently in development.
THE STYMPHALIANS is a Forged in the Dark roleplaying game set in the distant future of humanity, long after the Earth has been abandoned. The players take the role of a squad of mercenaries from a space faring people called The Stymphalians, making planet fall on a war torn world to aid resistance fighters in taking back what is rightfully theirs.
However... Not all is as it seems. As the war progresses, a slumbering force stirs to the turmoil.
I will also be completing a number of novels, which will be made available in various ways and formats. So there's that too!

Oh hey, Patreon!
So I’m live on Patreon where I’ll be sharing all sorts of fun speculative fiction, old and new. If you want to see a comic artist play at author (his true passion, to be honest), then head on over and offer your support. It’s early days, but I will do my best to entertain!

Experimental Short: They Listened. They Did Not Hear.
The Crescent Moon hid beneath Leonov C's main ring, it's engines cooling after a lengthy burn to escape an ambush. The starboard side of the battleship was venting atmosphere, white hairs pricking up from the damaged hull into the vacuum. Stabilisers were working less than efficiently and through gravitation the hulking vessel found itself both drawing and being drawn to the particulates and satellites of the gas giant's ring.
They crew of the C.M. were responding to a distress signal from Leonov 2, a orbiting deep space research facility and listening post. It was a jointly run operation between Russian born scientists and Chinese descended defence operatives. The automated distress signal was not capable of additional information outside of “help”, so the military based at Leonov D, the only habitable planet in the system was sent on a months long mission to investigate and respond.
Upon entering range of the planet, the huge ship set course for the northern pole, known for its unstable magnetic fields, where scanning and listening tools were disrupted to the point of uselessness. This would offer the Cresent Moon a pocket of space that could disguise their presence from others, but also allowing an easy point of physical reconnaissance over the planet. Recon and patrol ships were launched on a search for the station, finding no existence of it at all, though a newly developed scar was evident on the ring. A miles long rake through the orbiting debris.
Only one ship returned to report this, and unknown to them all, it brought with it a trail of attack vessels from what became The Enemy. These dart like craft shot into the broad side of the Crescent Moon, piercing the hull and then exploding. Though not extremely powerful, the large numbers and damage to the outer hull was enough to disable one entire face of the ship, making its gun batteries on that side dead for defence. Though, it was too late anyway, the crew could not respond before the damage was done.
As more darts came, the Crescent Moon burned fuel and pushed itself as quickly as possible beyond the rings of the planet and then under to hide. They soon went dark to The enemy, managing a brief escape. Repairs were under way, though atmosphere was scarce and not easily rerouted to important areas of the craft.
Defensive crew were on alert, interceptor craft were ready for launch, and an escape vector was planned and punched in. The blue planet shimmered in the light of the distant sun, the dark side edged slowly into view, and all was quiet in space for a time. Then like blinking red eyes, the void opened up to strange fractures that crackled with purple electricity. From each eye came more darts, streaming out like wasps from a thousand thousand nests.
Experimental Shorts are works based outside of the writer’s normal scope of genre and ideas, conceptualised and written in under twenty minutes.
