4/100 - Day 3

Today I've managed to rewrite around 5 pages and 2k words for my thesis and fix some of the jumbled sentences I had. Because clearly, I'm not sure what language I'm using anymore. It's a mix-and-match between two languages in my head and we'll roll with rewriting.

#tranquilstudy: What type of books are you interested in? Medieval literature has always been an essential genre because of my studies but in the last couple of years, I've been discovering contemporary literary fiction, primarily if it features a character study, such as one with an existential crisis or an outcast from their society. I've started reading non-fiction genre-bending novels that kind of resemble fiction storytelling. I know it's just a memoir but I've started to notice a lot of sub-genres intertwined with each other. I'm not even sure how many sub-genres are out there.

2-3/100 and Day 1 of tranquilstudy autumn study challenge

Today my goal is to rewrite 3 more pages for my thesis and plan posts for my film account. I was too exhausted to post yesterday because we went to the recently opened Art and Sculpture museum and it was too much to be out that long.

For yesterday's #tranquilstudy:

I'm Merve and in my last term of Film MA Studies, meaning I have to finish my Film thesis before Jan/Feb. It's been a year of decisions and saying goodbye to the unnecessary stuff in my life like my old insta account. After reassessing everything, decided to let go of everything that was not adding so much to my life and restarted from fresh. I saw this challenge a few days ago and I thought it'd be fun to study journal here to make a more fun DoP challenge as well.

For today's #tranquilstudy:

The last book I finished is The Vegetarian, which was my 100th read book of 2022. There was something odd this week, I finished around 4 books in a few days right before sleeping. I've not read this much in one week when I was on bookstagram, so I suppose that's a good sign for just "reading" and seeing the words without the stress of "trying" to analyze because I already do that in my head having studied English Literature. I suppose this post is for "letting mentally damaging things go".

Welcome to another one of my studyblr challenges! Thursday, 13 1/100

Well well, hello 100 days of productivity again. I need the motivation to continue writing my thesis, from the beginning this time because it needs a lot of revision. I was chaotically researching last year and I was kind of straying away too far from my topic. So here we go with another start until January, I believe. So I'll really need the productive motivation to pull myself through these months. With that said, I'm excited since I love researching. Here are two books I've been reading these last few days: The Vagina Monologues and The Vegetarian. Both tackle the issue of freedom, free will, self-autonomy, sexual violence and prejudiced society. They were probably heavy to read right before I slept but the way they dealt with those themes made me more thoughtful about modern society, hence I'm focussing on the opposite side of this issue in my MA thesis: toxic masculinity. I'll update here more often because I actually quit my main Instagram account but I have another one, which i might share here later. Stay safe.

I was planning to start my 100 days of productivity today but feeling really weak right now because I went to the uni campus today. It’s been months since I’ve been to the uni, so it was quite nice. The stomach flu really messed my immune system up so much that I have not much energy. Tomorrow is a productivity day and I hope everything is going well with all of you!!

I know that it's hard to hear about innocent people dying. I know it's hard to care about politics especially if it's from other countries or if it doesn't affect you. it might be depressing for you to hear about these things happening but imagine living it. it's our last chance to win this fight, if we don't the internet is gonna stay limited, more people would die from poverty and police brutality, they will be more strict about the hijab and more afab people would be arrested. maybe you're asking yourself what can I do about it? maybe you're thinking that it's none of your business and sharing posts won't do shit. maybe you're right, at the end of the day it's our revolution, it's our fight. and I swear that we're trying our best to overthrow this brutal dictatorship.

but they're killing people, using minors as police, using schools and ambulances to hide police forces, they are breaking into people's houses and beating and arresting protesters. so I beg you to talk about it and share the news. the only reason that they haven't shut down the internet completely and haven't killed 1500 people like in 2019 is that the world is watching us, the world knows about us. after 44 years of oppression and fear and violence finally our voices are being heard. so don't let people call it a color revolution, don't let them call it islamophobic to burn a veil. these are some tactics that the government use to silence iranian people. so just ignore it and get your news from iranian people instead of so called "leaders" of the protests.

“Far over the misty mountains cold to dungeons deep and caverns old” — The Hobbit 🏔

When you stumble upon a field that seems to open itself to another universe. Listening to the calming breeze circulating on the field, memories of yore dimmed the cloudy sky with thunder.

Untouched photos to show how enchanting it was yesterday to visit the field. I’m slightly sick today and slept around 7-8 pm yesterday but it was all worth it. Now I’ll relive the scenic landscape in the books I want to read today. The Hobbit has a special place in my heart since the 1977 version was one of the first animated English films I’ve ever watched. The drawings and its plot was so weird that I fell in love as a kid, that is when my journey with magic began. Also reading about how mummies were made enthusiastically also started but that is a story for another day. 🥀

hot autumn suits are back with full force *just for a second before i started getting too warm because the weather is still so hot* To be honest, I'm not even down or upset at anything but i feel mentally exhausted for some unknown reason. I just want to be more productive with stuff that I enjoy doing, however, my body disagrees with me right now. I've created some poetry and review posts for my socials, which was really fun. I'm just excited to go back to everyday life very soon.

August 31, the last day before autumn

It's been an interesting month full of museum days, historical trips, and painting hours. I've learned to relax and also how to be productive without stressing too much. I sometimes forget that I share these for myself or people like me who enjoy seeing what other cosy people do to enjoy themselves. I've also created a new digital Etsy shop: Cozy Bookmarks for dark academia and autumn academia bookmarks and prints since i couldn't find minimal ones anywhere to buy. I thought why not sell my own and they're literally cheaper than water since the prints are digital; cheaper for all!

This was my monthly wrap-up i believe before I switch to more study and art content soon. Enjoy your last day of August!
