Introduction to Swords Arcana
The sword's essence truly manifests itself within the crucible of combat and dueling. Envisioning "lightweight" scenes would undermine its inherent purpose, for the sword's function thrives in battle and warfare. These blades seek conflict, striving for victory on the battlefield. Crafted with dual blades, the metal embodies a cutting edge and a dualistic universe. These symbols of warriors endeavor to convey their perspective, even enduring pain, where survival often hinges on a kill-or-be-killed mentality.
Disclaimer: The way I learned to read tarot cards does not involve the use of upright and reversed positions. Instead, they rely on their symbology, positive and negative meanings, and the readings depend more on the spread rather than whether the card is upright or reversed. Also, the Court Cards will also have its separate post and I’m using Rider-Waite as reference.

Ace of Spades
Symbolism: The ace, denoting unity and the inception of concepts, is entwined with the Air element (yang). This synergy births the genesis of ideas, showcasing the active force behind their inception and their influence on our mental realm. Such ideas arise from fleeting moments, mirroring the sword's grasp, connecting to the phallic symbol, signifying assertion. It exhibits agility and fluidity through its form, accompanied by nobility represented by the crown.
Positive Aspects: This card signifies the emergence of impactful ideas and noble intentions. It encompasses words, plans, and ethical principles vocalized by individuals. Illuminating thoughts underscore its essence, driven by persistent contemplation. The ace heralds the commencement of fruitful conversations, dialogues, or even disagreements. A quest for righteousness is evident, guided by the urge to express what is perceived as right. Engaging in argumentation and asserting one's will takes center stage, underpinned by the necessity for courteous, direct, and noble communication.
Ace of Spades: In this context, the negative connotation reflects unfulfilled principles and groundless ideas. Such fleeting concepts are akin to a "flash in the pan," lacking in substance. Dishonorable and deceitful words accompany these notions, sowing disorder and distress. Antagonistic ideas fuel endless debates, potentially leading to harmful intentions or superficial propositions. The inability to wield a sword metaphorically signifies a lack of defense or empowerment.
2 of Swords
Symbolism: The number two emerges from the unity of one, representing a dualistic, opposing nature. The delicate equilibrium is disrupted as divergent ideas contend for supremacy. Depicted is a figure bearing the weight of swords, symbolizing the challenge of decision-making. The moon and water elements evoke emotional detachment, urging logical discernment. Blindfolded, impartiality prevails, underscoring the significance of thoughtful positioning.
Positive Aspects: This card embodies truces, agreements, and harmonious resolutions. It underscores the value of diplomacy, facilitating consensus and informed choices. The card encourages steadfastness in decision-making and the careful balance between emotional and rational faculties. Diplomatic interactions with diverse individuals and groups, along with honorable conflicts, are encouraged. Well-crafted competition and stimulating rivalry fuel intellectual growth, fostering teamwork and camaraderie. The card suggests favorable judgments and well-reasoned decisions.
Negative Aspects: On the flip side, hesitation, doubt, and emotional indecision take center stage. The impartiality, when taken to an extreme, fosters unethical behavior and truce-related challenges. Disregarding empathy for differing perspectives hinders harmony, leading to superficial interactions and a lack of understanding. The card cautions against evading responsibility and shying away from comprehensive evaluations.
3 of Spades
Symbolism: The number three signifies the synthesis of unity and duality, birthing new ideas through opposing forces. In this context, the card portrays a novel notion arising from these forces, akin to the formulation of a decisive sentence. Despite potential pain or discomfort, consensus remains crucial. The heart symbolizes the challenge, as emotional attachments might hinder logical resolution.
Positive Aspects: The card signifies relief following a resolute decision-making process. It encourages embracing responsibility, prioritizing collective well-being over personal privilege. Delving deep into the core of issues and resolving them swiftly is urged, emphasizing direct and efficient approaches. The card celebrates the courage to stand by one's values and the willingness to engage in benevolent actions, even if they entail personal sacrifice.
Negative Aspects: Anguish and despair arise from indecision and the burden of responsibility. Ineffectual attempts at problem-solving lead to mental agony. The absence of creativity, failure to achieve consensus, and inability to focus on a singular idea impede progress. The card warns against neglecting diverse perspectives, resulting in missed opportunities for growth and understanding.
4 of Swords
Symbolism: The number four introduces order to the realm of ideas, a challenge for the airy element. To become a productive force, air requires motion and direction. Thus, the card conveys a hushed tranquility, analogous to a serene church setting. It serves as a pause for strategic contemplation, a call to hone one's skills, and an invitation for introspective reconfiguration.
Positive Aspects: This card encourages introspection, thoughtful analysis, and strategic reorganization. Taking a break to rest and restore mental clarity is advised. Meditation and silence facilitate deeper reflection, allowing ideas to crystallize and insights to emerge. Prioritizing observation over discourse fosters efficient idea generation and encourages the development of practices that enhance cognitive clarity.
Negative Aspects: Stagnation, repetitiveness, and a lack of innovation permeate the air. The card warns against fixating on static, unproductive ideas. It discourages excessive sleep or detachment, which hinder effective communication and constructive action. The chasm between intention and execution is evident, underscoring the importance of aligning thoughts with tangible efforts.
5 of Swords
Symbolism: The number five signifies an attempt to transcend limitations, often leading to inexperience and failure. The card depicts a scene of defeat, where an individual encounters more adept adversaries, resulting in loss. The pursuit of reasoning with others reveals the unpreparedness, leading to a fallen argument. The imagery portrays a thwarted endeavor, highlighting the ephemeral nature of such endeavors.
Positive Aspects: Amid defeat, there's resilience and partial preservation. Although the battle is lost, the war remains. The card advises relinquishing harmful ideas, recognizing the potential for future success. Lessons learned from failures guide future actions, urging meticulous evaluation and adjustment. The card emphasizes persistence and growth despite setbacks.
Negative Aspects: Unprepared and futile attempts mar the landscape, leading to loss, frustration, and difficulty. The card cautions against hasty actions and irrational pursuits, promoting negative outcomes. Pessimism and self-sabotaging tendencies hinder progress, reinforcing the importance of measured, strategic endeavors.
6 of Swords
Symbolism: The number six embodies reparation and reconciliation, offering a chance to seek refuge and new perspectives. Depicted is the act of rescuing individuals from shame and guiding them toward safe havens. This card symbolizes the quest for harmony among conflicting ideas, advocating introspection and the mending of one's convictions.
Positive Aspects: The card heralds a period of healing, restoration, and finding solace. It encourages seeking alternative paths and viewpoints, striving for inner and external harmony. Support from others aids the journey toward clarity and resolution. Embracing change and transformation facilitates growth and renewal.
Negative Aspects: A retreat in shame, evading confrontation and hiding from self-awareness, becomes prominent. The card advises against avoidance and self-imposed isolation, which hinder growth and understanding. Dwelling on difficulties and resisting change further impede progress, promoting stagnation and personal loss.
7 of Swords
Symbolism: The number seven embodies persistence and belief, emphasizing the power of steadfastness. In the realm of air, believing is seeing. The card showcases the strength of persistence, rooted in logical reasoning and problem-solving. The imagery portrays selective focus, leaving behind unnecessary issues to address core problems.
Positive Aspects: The card urges vigilance and strategic thinking. It emphasizes using intelligence to one's advantage, remaining diplomatic, and asserting one's perspective with flexibility. The number seven symbolizes unwavering dedication to one's beliefs and employing diverse tactics to communicate and persuade.
Negative Aspects: Persisting in error or faulty beliefs takes center stage. Impulsivity and a lack of diplomacy hinder effective communication. Engaging in tangential arguments and altering points for convenience are discouraged. The card warns against adopting a cynical viewpoint, lacking trust in one's intuition, and attempting to appease others at the expense of authenticity.
8 of Swords
Symbolism: The number eight reflects a doubling of four, highlighting the establishment of order and productivity. However, it struggles to integrate effectively with the airy element. The imagery portrays an individual surrounded by diverse ideas, expressing a willingness to defend personal convictions. This card signifies a challenge to confront and assess one's beliefs.
Positive Aspects: The card emboldens one to face opposing opinions and challenges. It advocates stepping onto the stage of challenge, drawing upon inner courage to evaluate one's beliefs and actions. The number eight emphasizes introspection and self-awareness, encouraging the exploration of diverse viewpoints to refine one's perspective.
Negative Aspects: Fear-induced paralysis prevails, impeding growth and progress. The card warns against succumbing to false truths or succumbing to external pressures. Paralysis by one's own or others' opinions prevents open communication and hinders the authentic expression of thoughts. It calls for breaking free from self-imposed constraints to foster personal growth.
9 of Swords
Symbolism: The number nine symbolizes mature and evolved thought stemming from the unity of one. This card portrays an individual deep in thought, encapsulating a mature mental state where responsibilities and ideas carry weight. Astrological symbols on the quilt suggest celestial guidance, underscoring the connection between life's signs and profound inquiries.
Positive Aspects: Deep contemplation and profound meditation are the hallmarks of this card. It champions methodical problem-solving, offering a path to practical resolutions. Seeking guidance through prayer and introspection facilitates mental clarity and wise decision-making. The number nine signifies embracing responsibility and harnessing wisdom to navigate life's challenges.
Negative Aspects: The card cautions against clinging to outdated or immature perspectives. It signifies mental distress, phobias, and unsettling thoughts that hinder rational thinking. A lack of sleep, mental unrest, and a single-minded fixation on distressing thoughts pervade, hindering sound judgment and emotional well-being.
10 of Swords
Symbolism :The number ten encapsulates the culmination of experiences within the suit, often leading to a decisive outcome. The imagery depicts a figure pierced by swords, signifying a significant end or transition. While defeat may be apparent, a new day dawns, symbolized by the rising sun and a fresh sword, heralding renewal and potential growth.
Positive Aspects: This card signifies triumph and conquest, wherein opposing ideas succumb to one's convictions. Problems are resolved, and obstacles are overcome. The number ten celebrates the strength of will, organization, and focused effort. It signifies the ability to take decisive action and reap the rewards of perseverance.
Negative Aspects: The card symbolizes defeat, ruin, and the cessation of progress. Overcoming difficulties becomes a daunting task as obstacles pile up. The number ten cautions against tyrannical thinking, arrogance, and the risk of ignoring opposing perspectives. It warns against allowing fear and negativity to paralyze progress.

< ~crossroads~ 2 of swords: choosing to be better >
there’s going to be 2 piles and i’m using the ethereal visions illuminated tarot deck by matt hughes. ill do a little channeling first and then ill go into it more in depth
Pile 1
Tumblr media
3 of wands, 2 of swords, hermit
nights crying in bed hurt alone and scared of what's to come anxiety unconscious negativity underlying conditions revelations under attack eradicating karma you are on a path of chaos and you don't know where to go next at this crossroads you look out or in and not both and you cant see which is right logic or emotion the future or your past experience do you keep hope or dwell in the mud of despair that is holding you down only
you are having a hard time with balance. your past experiences hold you back immensely when new opportunities present themselves to you. your emotions are tied to the past. you understand the future can only present itself when you put yourself out into the world and explore it, but the thought of it makes you sick to your stomach. normally people have difficulty accessing the deep insides of themselves but not you. you in fact, may have been dwelling in this for far longer than needed, to the point where its hindering you. you look for the meaning in everything. you spend your mental energy trying to put together the puzzle that is your life when the pieces were never meant to fit. instead of looking for the right pieces, you try to finish with the wrong ones over and over. its time to step out of your hermit robe and bare yourself to the world. there will only be productive thought in hermit mode if you continue to take time to intake stimulation from the outside world. without stimulation, you will continue to process the same things over and over again. there is a new experience that has been offering itself to you, if you stay grounded in the present you may finally notice it :p and when you do, take that opportunity with open arms. i know you like being a hermit, so think of it as the faster you do this the faster you can go back :^) keep the wheel of fortune turning in your life, remember that stagnancy leads to death. aware or not, your actions during this time in your life are related to past life or generational karma. you may have opportunities or experiences that are healing on a soul level.
Pile 2
Tumblr media
chariot, two of swords, king of pentacles
magic realizations science fiction library butterflies mating call coincidence levetating flying piloting cadence canine foul red card scheme tv eyes liquid nitrogen crushing crush crush crush dahlia daisy kain deluxe
i strongly get that this pile is a person who would like to or already identifies as a witch. not only is the first word magic, which i admit is a little on the nose, both of these pictures happen to depict an individual holding a wand. the first thing you must be thinking is “i dont practice enough” or some variation of that. and its true, you dont really take control and take things into your hands. the thought of staying grounded and letting things come to you makes you feel not only powerful, but it makes you feel like it really MUST be for you if it came with no chase. but, there are some things that you NEED to chase if you want. some opportunities are just waiting for you to find them. you are powerful at manifestation with a strong energy of the magician, and i have a feeling you not only have heard that before you kind of scoff at it or dont take it seriously. this is because you havent actually used it :o youre like sure im so good but how would you really know? its funny because you do have parts inside you that want to believe but then your mask is so opposed to all things magical. you may call yourself or be interested in being a witch but then you also find it ridiculous and impractical. there are some who can practice witchcraft once in a blue moon and still feel and know they are a witch but you are definitely the type who would benefit emotionally from practicing on a more regular basis. some moon water every full moon would be a good start, because once you have it then you have to figure out what to do with it. you have more creativity about how you'd like to practice than you realize, and you'll only discover it if you start actively pursuing this. there may be something you immediately know you want to do or are interested in. or you may be dumbfounded with what to do. if this is the case, a spell you could start off with is writing or speaking an affirmation of something you desire a x number of times for x number of days. it could be as simple as writing i am confident 3 times a day for 3 days or if you want to put more effort you could write i am a radiant being full of confidence and inspiration 33 times a day for 33 days. the point is that you are actively working towards things consistently. it doesn't have to be grandiose, just consistent. magic is definitely calling to you, and you should follow it like a dog following a butterfly, or like alice with the rabbit. there's been enough foreplay between you guys already, gosh! get a room and solidify that bond already :p there was also an extremely heavy scorpio energy in this pile, so if you have any scorpio placements im calling you out rn. lastly idk why i got crushcrushcrush which makes me think of the paramore song so there might be something there for you or just confirmation.

Pick a card: What needs to be re-awakened within you?
Tumblr media
[Options include: Pile 1, a peach colored flower with 5 round petals; Pile 2, a light purple flower with 8 thinner petals; Pile 3, a cream colored flower with 5 round, stout petals]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Alt. Text: Box with tarot and oracle cards. Tarot cards include: 5 of pentacles in reverse, 7 of swords in reverse, page of cups up right, ace of wands up right. Oracle cards include: Choose Wisely (Be discerning. You don't have to keep everything in your net). Flow (let your worries drift away). Optimism (After each rainstorm, there will be clear skies). Card with stop watch which says: I give me space to breath in this moment and recognize there is beauty in life's pauses. Card with outline of facial features, a swirl in between brows, which says: I stand up for what I believe in]
Pile 1: Channel Your Energy Effectively
Pile 1: Recognize the value you bring to your life - to your work, to your relationships, and to yourself. You'll notice in the top right corner of the Page of Cups that there is a small pig with wings... You don't have to wait until pig fly in order to let yourself breathe. I am guessing that you are a pretty big empath - me too. Empathy can get overwhelming and that does NOT make you a bad person. You cannot be everything to everyone and it is okay to set boundaries on your space. Know that you will always be the advocate that you want to be, even when you require space and time. Stop self-deceiving, too, pile 1. Your mind can be mean so remember to empathize with yourself, too. In addition to re-awakening your knowledge of needing (and deserving) space, you should also re-awaken your inner child! Allow yourself to dream. Allow yourself to create. Trust your inner voice!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Alt. Text: Box with tarot and oracle cards. Tarot cards include: 2 of wands reversed, the Hermit, 8 of wands with knoight of swords, and seven of pentacles. Oracle cards include: Stillness (In calm waters, everything becomes clear). The Ocean (be beautiful, mysterious, wild, and free). Card with sunflower which says: I am good enough. Card with two raised hands which says: The universe is filled with endless opportunities for me.]
Pile 2: Re-awaken spontaneity & let go of the fear of the unknown
Hey pile two: Are you having trouble letting go and going with the flow? It happens! It's time to reawaken the belief in yourself. Instead of ruminating on everything, try to get yourself to make swift decisions. This doesn't mean they aren't thought through, it just means the decisions are being made more quickly. Harvesting the ability to make choices will reap long-term results. How do you even start? Believe that you are enough!! Take the time for introspection. That may sound counterintuitive when I just said to make more decisions more quickly, but introspection can bring you answers. Trust your gut, be yourself. Once you start to understand that the universe is filled with possibilities, you'll start to feel them in your soul.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Alt Text: Box with tarot and oracle cards. Tarot cards include: Queen of pentacles in reverse, two of swords, ace of cups, four of swords. Oracle cards include: Generosity (What good is treasure if you keep it for yourself). Direction (Trust your inner compass and find your bearings). Card with diamond shaped cage with heart inside: I am a loveable person. Card with outline of facial features, a swirl in between brows, which says: I stand up for what I believe in]
Pile 3: Reawaken your focus on self care.
Dear pile 3, you may be having more trouble than usual finding rest and time to heal. But it's not too late to bring this back as a part of your normal routine. You may be hesitating because you feel that you have too much to get done and, if you don't, things will crumble. BUT you can't do your best work if you're exhausted. Taking care of yourself will help you strengthen your self-compassion. It will allow you to regain emotional fulfillment. It will be easier to forgive yourself for your "flaws" and knowing you're doing what you can with what you have. Please know that the fight for what you believe in will still be there after you rest. Others know that you are kind, compassionate, and generous. You are loved and you will be loved even if you step back.

Today, you should be seeking out your passions. You may be feeling unsure about what you should be pursuing. Taking the logical course or following your heart. You may be taking a risk here, but sometimes it is okay to go after what it is you want. Indulge yourself and give yourself a chance to fly free. Either path will be a struggle, so you might as well choose the one that's brings you joy.

2 of Swords ⚔️
Quite simply, The 2 of swords represents being at a crossroads between having to make a decision of two seemingly equal choices. This card tells us that we need to decide either way soon but to rely less on logic and more on intuition to move forward! I just finished this latest Tarot card illustration and if you join my Patreon, you can see the progression pictures I took while working and read the writings on my interpretation and meaning behind the elements in the card HERE: https://patreon.com/vonnart

Note
hi, have a good day.
if possible, who is my fs?
my initials are 'efa'. ❤️‍🩹
Hi! Hope that you have a good day. I went ahead and aimed for personality of your future spouse/how you'll feel around them.
Tarot
The first card to come out was The Sun. This is a positive card with a lot of optimism. This could suggest that your Future Spouse is someone who is rather optimistic. This could also suggest that you may view them as the sun and that they'll make you rather happy/being around them will make you happy.
The second card to come out was Temperance. This is a rather calm and patient card. This can suggest that you'll find your future spouse to be calming to you. It could also suggest that they come off as calm person. This could get a bit frustrating for you, because they may seem to move a bit slowly in your guy's relationship, but I think it'll generally be a good thing to you.
The third card to come out was the 2 of Swords. This card is associated with having to make a difficult choice, which is generally difficult because you don't want to make it. This does suggest to me that your future spouse may come off as indecisive and likely doesn't like making choices. This doesn't mean that they can't make choices, but they probably prefer not to be the one doing so.
Under the deck was the Page of Staffs reversed, which is basically the Page of Wands in this deck. This can be someone that is kinda careless with how they speak. I feel like this is likely more of something that happens when they're flustered rather than who they usually are, but it may be how they first come off to you (like if they're flustered around you because they have a crush on you).

Two of swords - tarot notes pt2
Tumblr media
2 of swords is represented by moon in libra, this planet sign combination is such a perfect representation of what this card means.
The moon in astrology reflects our ingrained habits, inner emotions, reactions and instincts. in libra, our instinct is to harmonize, to balance out options and reflect on what choices we should make. It represents going inwards and examining our emotions to make a decision, and the process in the 2 of swords is clearly a very intuitive one. She’s covered her eyes and has symbolically blocked out other voices and sensations so she can focus on whats happening internally.
If the ace of swords is fragmented ideas becoming a thought, then the 2 of swords is the process of differentiating between thoughts and ideas. in a reading it would be someone trying to make choices about how they feel about a certain subject or situation. For example:
a person wants to know what will happen between them and a romantic interest, they want to know how the other person feels. They pull the 2 of swords.
This likely indicates that the person they are interested in is trying to internally sort out their own emotions to get clear on how they feel, they may be differentiating the many thoughts they have about them and trying to understand their true feelings. This denotes that they are not yet going to take action until they are feeling more certain about the options they have and the feelings they have about them. notice I didnt try to force a ‘’they like you’’ or a ‘’they dont like you’’ because the 2 of swords truly doesnt even indicate they know how they feel yet! I feel like alot to tarot readers try to do this (usually because of the pressure from the client) and it distorts the message thats being given. tarot is nuanced, there is no black and white answer and its impossible to give a black and white answer when they are 78 cards with distinct, specific meanings. hopefully more people getting readings understand this better but i digress
the two of swords tends to indicate a person being uncertain alot. in reversed, it makes me think a person needs to get connected to their emotional, instinctual side, since the moon in libra talks about using emotions to aid in decision making.
I would also say that this card represents a person whose decisions are flakey and unstable because its based on their mood, but not always.
