Darcy Brisben (she/her), a 15-year-old human. The protagonist. A troubled girl with a silent and withdrawn demeanor that conceals an ill temper, Darcy has few people she loves and even fewer who love her.

Moonflower (he/him), an Incubus. Darcy’s closest and only friend. A deeply loving and gentle individual who recognizes the hurting child in Darcy, Moonflower has made the conscious decision to step in and be there for her when no one else will.

Alice (she/her), a Doppelgänger. The first person Darcy meets in Hell. Though dark and twisted, with a terribly morbid sense of humor and a malicious streak, Alice quickly develops a soft spot for Darcy and subsequently lends her guidance in navigating the realms of Hell.

yeah okay i said i’d start posting my writing on here and i’m not a liar, so…

“write be poetry” she says to me. what a fool, she must not know i look into the sky and see her.

she must not know that she ties my stomach in a knot the same way i would lace my shoes to walk to her if she only asked.

“write me poetry” she says.

her words sound soft yet demanding, id do anything for that tone of voice, so i will write.

my poetry is not pretty or delicate, it is the bottom of my soul, the pieces no one wants, yet she asks for those pieces “write me poetry” she says.

what could i write to explain the complexity of what i feel for her? will i tell her that i took a photo of the moon tonight, and i thought of her?

will i tell her that in honesty, i don’t know how to write it yet, but if she allowed, i would show her the poetry i would kiss her body, just to show her that beautiful things don’t ask to be paid attention to.

she warns me of her instability as if it’s something i need to fear. i do not fear her, i adore her.

her sharp tongue that has never cursed me, her eyes that have stared into mine and every rough edge, i adore. i do not feel the need to file her smooth, to soften her rough edges, i feel the need to hold them, to admire them.

i see the beauty in her danger, i see the blood she draws from my veins and it is the most precious shade of red i have ever seen, and i see her softness under it all.

so “write me poetry” she says.

and i will write her name, that would be enough.
