In what way are phrenological principles still foundational to research psychology & neurology, and science in general? Asking out of ignorance and wanting to know more.
so, phrenology throughout the 19th century was a broad program of research principles, self-help advice, and social-hygienic prognostication. we tend to think of it now as being reducible to a craniometric chart and a crank trying to divine personality traits from a person's skull shape—this did happen, but phrenology encompassed much more than that. it was a driving force in the increasing acceptance of ideas like brain localisation (that the brain did not act as one, but had distinct parts that could behave differently and independently to one another), the related position that human psychology and personalities could be classified / taxonomised / measured (like, 'attention' as being a faculty distinct from 'judgment' or 'reason' or so forth), and the belief that organic derangements of the brain accounted for a person's individual social / economic / intellectual success, as well as social phenomena like crime, delinquency, or addiction.
by about the 1890s, the word "phrenology" had become more or less dismissed in mainstream french and british scientific circles, and it was portrayed as a pseudoscientific perversion of respectable craniometry / anthropometry. this happened for many reasons, including that british and french medicine were professionalising over the course of the 19th century and that phrenological practitioners were often unlicensed and operating more in a marginal self-help space (akin to many of today's astrologers) than in institutionally sanctioned scientific circles. additionally, after world war ii, phrenology's association with eugenics made it even more unpalatable; it was now seen to be politically dangerous even to those who had previously endorsed eugenics. the same happened to many other theories and disciplines of social-hygienic or degeneration-theory ideas.
however, the rejection of phrenology that began in the late 19th century and intensified in the late 20th has been largely superficial, and 'modern' science has never really grappled with the phrenological roots of so much neuro-deterministic and anthropomentric thinking, from psychiatry to a great deal of moralistic public health to the incredibly deeply entrenched, yet blatantly prejudicial in every way, idea that a person's appearance is indicative of their character or morality. fundamentally phrenology was a major driver in the acceptance (in many different fields) of scientific 'naturalism', a general rejection of prior christian teleological thinking and search for universally deterministic scientific laws instead. rendering mental action into the category of 'natural thing governed by natural laws' was foundational, for example, to darwin's conception of evolution and his effort to distinguish his own theory from the teleological evolutionary theory of robert chambers.
none of this is to say that scientific naturalism ought to be inherently rejected, or replaced with christian metaphysics; however, failing to grapple with the fuller legacy of phrenology, and eugenics more generally, because we don't want to upset what philosophical boundaries we think we've erected between religion and 'modern' science allows such eugenic thinking to retain its centrality in current scientific practice.
it is also always worth emphasising that phrenology, like a lot of scientific theories of self-improvement, has frequently been employed as a vehicle of liberal ideology, particularly in britain. although phrenological practitioners have at various times tried to ally themselves with a superficially radical sort of 'common man's' rejection of the élite scientific institutions, phrenology has at the same time followed a general trajectory whereby it emphasises more and more an idea of personal responsibility for one's own neuro-biological traits and associated character flaws. this is often seen as more palatable than outright hereditarian thinking because, rather than tacitly endorsing the expurgation of the biologically 'unfit', the liberal phrenologist affirms that people simply need to overcome, tame, or temper their own neurobiological defects in order to live productive, socially desirable lives. cf. 'negative' versus 'positive' eugenics.
if you're interested in this i would recommend roger cooter's 'the cultural meaning of popular science: phrenology and the organisation of consent in 19th-century britain' (1984) and philip rehbock's 'the philosophical naturalists: themes in early 19th-century british biology' (1983). cooter was an avowed marxist and his account of phrenology, science, and their relationships to industrial capitalism—while not flawless—is markedly different from any other prior literature on the topic. rehbock's book is less politically daring and less focussed on phrenology specifically, but clarifies some aspects of scientific naturalism and what is meant by distinguishing a 'modern' scientific episteme from earlier practices and principles.

Astro observations
☘️Most people in astrology community while talking about certain placements, talk about unsafe homes, dysfunctional households, single mother, uncaring mother/guardian or parents, etc. This is while talking about people who may have relationship issues but I don't think that's it. There may be other neurological factors or disorders or dysphoria (one that comes to my mind is Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria) or they may be HSP who experience everything to an intense degree, so we need to mention these factors too.
☘️ People born on Sagittarius-Capricorn cusp are, according to me, really interesting, compassionate and assertive people, also taking into consideration thier other placements.
☘️ Blue color reminds me of Gemini Mercury.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
☘️ I've seen Aquarius suns saying that they don't believe in things like astrology and MBTI tests and that's such an aquarian thing to do.
☘️ I believe Suns in 11th house are are bit more social than Aquarians. Specially someone with more social sun signs, like a Leo sun in 11th house is more on the social side and is more likely to act like his leo self in and around 11th house themes.
☘️ People with Libra Rising has something calm and soft about the way they look while people with Aries Rising have a distinct feature, maybe thier eyes, nose, cheekbones but they're more pronounced. With Libra Rising you see the harmony of all of it together and with Aries, you see how thier features stand out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
☘️ I have had Ascendant-Moon and Ascendant-Venus conjunction in synastry with a guy I met online around a month ago and he texted me about how I'm the only women he thinks about and how I'm so pretty. But he doesn't like ME me, he likes the persona I am when I'm online (which resembles me but not completely) and that persona aligns well with his romantic desires and his feelings.
☘️ I know a lot of astrologers on tumblr like Whole house system but I personally find Placidus to be better. It gives us wider field to choose from, more options. And humans beings are not always the same, or even fitting in the signs or the boxes we try to fit them into.
☘️For example, my 10th house starts with later degrees of Cancer and occupies more than half of Leo and I've always felt deep connection and desire with both the themes of Leo and cancer occupations or jobs. But this could be because of the chart ruler being here. But similarly, my 9th house starts in Gemini and occupies a great deal of cancer and I'm getting dual degrees while I'm very much interested in learning about medical studies and nursing, not as my career but just to simple know.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🌼This is my first astrology observation. It's a very impulsive decision I took around 15 minutes ago because I was bored and I suddenly had an astrology thought. Hope you'd enjoy these. Also, most of these are the ones I actually observed from charts of people I know but if you find something to be exclusively talked about by another astrologer, please tell me in the comments, I'd love to give the credit.

The Bvanu People
The Bvanu Gnomecir, commonly called Bvaneim or the Bvanu People, are a diasporic, often nomadic, people who defy easy categorization. They have been alternatively described as a race, an ethnicity, a religion, a society, a school of thought, and/or a neurotype. Bvaneim may embrace or reject any of these labels to varying degrees, but generally agree that the Bvanu People defies reductive categorization into any one of them, opting instead to describe themselves simply as a people.
Literally translated, their name means “children of the knowledge-seekers” and refers to their heritage as descendants of those who fled the destruction of the Gnomec College. The question of “Who Is/Isn’t Bvanu?” is contested within the Bvanu community but generally includes any descendants (adopted or blood-related), any converts to the Bvanu religion, or anyone who can access Bvanu memories through the craft of mnemonec dreaming.
The ethnogenesis of the Bvanu people can be traced back at least to the society of the Gnomec College, though a proto-Bvanu people existed in the region for centuries prior. However, due to the practice of outgathering outlined in the Gnomec Charter and their displacement following the destruction of the College, they can be found across the world with diverse cultural and religious traditions.
Bvanu are more likely to identify as queer than the general population, though whether this is due to an actual higher incidence of queer people or a culture that is just more open & accepting of queer identity is up for debate. There are three widely recognized sexes with corresponding gender roles in Bvanu culture—male, female, and liminal—though transgender & non-trinary identities are generally accepted as well.
The Bvanu neurotype is a neurodivergent spectrum that overlaps (but doesn’t correspond one-to-one) with ADHD & autism. Due to differences in how they process information, Bvaneim commonly experience texture, photo, and frequency sensitivities that can be unpleasant, if not debilitating. A notable example of this is a sensitivity to the hum that emanates from certain energized metals like honeygold; this can make it easier to hear said hum, but can also be overwhelming if exposed to energized metal for too long or in high enough quantities. Differences in neurological makeup are understood to be a part of what enables Bvaneim to practice mnemonec dreaming.
The Bvanu religion is a gnomec-mnemonec tradition, emphasizing knowledge and memory. Bvanu gnomecism revolves primarily around their holy text, the Bvanu Librarium, and study at Bvanu Academia, while their mnemonec practice involves the keeping of commemorative holy days, the wearing of symbolic traditional clothing, and mnemonec dreaming.
They use a lunar-solar calendar with holy days that mark phases of the moon, seasonal/solar events, and historical events they consider significant. The most important Bvanu holy day coincides with an astrological event called the Indigo Moon and memorializes the destruction of the Gnomec College.

Health: Adrenal Glands
TCM: Jing, Kidneys
GNM: Off Track (cortex), Unbearable Stress (medulla)
Greek: Sanguine (cortex), Choleric (medulla)
Chakra: Root
Astrology: Mars, Aries-Libra; ex. managing adrenal health can be especially important for natal placements like Mars in Libra/7th, Mars in Pisces/12th, South Node conjunct Mars, etc.
Tumblr media
The adrenal glands, which sit atop the kidneys, play a central role in the body's response to stress, fatigue, immune challenges, and several key physiological and metabolic functions. Issues related to the adrenal glands is very common yet highly under-diagnosed. They consist of two regions:
Adrenal Cortex: Derived from the mesodermal base substance cholesterol, the adrenal cortex produces hormones such as cortisol, corticosterone, aldosterone, and male sex hormones. These hormones play vital roles in physiological functions. Cortisol and corticosterone, known as stress hormones, contribute to the regulation of metabolism, inflammation, and blood sugar, and assist in long-term stress response by enriching the blood with minerals and glucose. Their anabolic effects also aid in healing and regeneration. Aldosterone helps maintain blood pressure by regulating the balance of salt and water in the body. The adrenal cortex's production of male sex hormones can influence the reproductive system. If unresolved, chronic stress may lead to excessive cortisol production, causing problems like weight gain and high blood sugar.
Adrenal Medulla: The endodermal adrenal medulla manages emotional and physical stress by producing the hormones noradrenaline, dopamine, and adrenaline. These hormones are pivotal in activating the "fight, fright, flight" response, a physiological reaction that occurs in response to a perceived harmful event or threat. This acute stress response increases heart rate, blood sugar, and mental alertness, along with other physiological changes. Chronic anger or emotional upheaval can strain the adrenal medulla, leading to an energetic drain.
Stress
The adrenal glands are highly sensitive to stress, and chronic stress can lead to various disorders:
Psychiatric Disorders: Neuroses, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder.
Neurological Disorders: Migraines, peripheral neuropathy, dizziness, tremors.
Glandular Disorders: Issues related to other glands including the thyroid which is responsible for cell growth; for instance, uterine cancer, polyps, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism.
Cardiovascular Disorders: Coronary artery disease, stroke, heart attack, hypertension, arrhythmias.
Respiratory Disorders: Asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), difficulty in breathing.
Immunological Disorders: Possible tumor promotion, reduced resistance to infection, autoimmune disorders, chronic inflammation.
Metabolic Disorders: Diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome, difficulty in regulating blood sugar.
Gastrointestinal Disorders: Ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), chronic indigestion, malabsorption.
Genitourinary Disorders: Impotence, incontinence, menstrual problems, urinary tract infections, kidney dysfunction.
Musculoskeletal Disorders: Muscle weakness, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, joint pain.
Skin Disorders: Acne, eczema, psoriasis, skin thinning.
Cysts and Cancer
Adrenal Weakness: If the adrenal glands don't produce enough adrenaline, the heart may pump slower, leading to fluid accumulation and cysts in the prostate, ovaries, and breasts. These cysts can harden and potentially lead to cancer.
Blood Flow: Increasing blood flow can help resolve cysts if addressed quickly.
Signs of Imbalance
Frequent sickness, fatigue, low libido, low backache, chronic health issues, dark circles under the eyes, hair loss, early greying, frequent urination at night, cold hands and feet, brain fog, pain and weakness in the lower back, loins, thighs, knees and lower body, urinary weakness and debility, polyuria and nocturia, impotence and male sexual dysfunction, moodiness and irritability, depression, muscle or bone loss, autoimmune conditions, chronic fatigue, hormone imbalance, body aches, unexplained weight loss, lightheadedness, skin discoloration (hyperpigmentation), weakened stress response, insulin resistance, sleep problems, weight gain, sweet and salty food cravings, difficulty getting up in the morning, increased PMS or menopausal symptoms, inability to handle stress, increased allergies, frequent sighing, cravings for salty foods, higher energy levels in the evenings, overuse of stimulants like caffeine.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
Jing (essence): The statement by the Chinese that the kidneys harbor our Jing refers to the adrenals having the highest concentration of neural crest cell derivatives in the entire body. Strong Jing corresponds to robust characteristics like strong teeth, which are made by neural crest cells, while weak Jing relates to signs of aging like grey hair and deafness, also linked to neural crest cells. Jing's manifestations include the progression from youth to adulthood, reflected in functions controlled by the pituitary (aided by neural crest cells), and can be seen in the structure of the face and jaw. Neural crest cells also create the heart's connective tissue, affecting lifespan. Jing as a concept is not the same as neural crest cells but they represent the body's inherent organizational strength. Weak organizational energy leads to neural crest cells that don't form properly or function well, resulting in genetic disorders affecting facial development. The Chinese recognized these markers as indicators of weak Jing.
Kidneys & Urinary Tract: The adrenal glands are connected to the kidneys not just through the renal fascia, but also by way of the renal artery, draining into the renal vein, and receiving nerve connections from the renal plexus. The kidneys regulates the body's water content and are essential for maintaining healthy bones, as well as producing healthy bone marrow and blood. It determines the level of adrenaline and dopamine in the body, affecting our energy and rest. In addition, it forms a relationship with the heart through various hormones. During puberty, the adrenal cortex starts to produce sex hormones like testosterone and oestrogen, and this production continues throughout adulthood. Caffeine depletes kidney qi, yang, yin, and essence, contributing to liver and adrenal issues, and long-term exhaustion. Regular coffee drinkers, especially those who don’t feel its effects, may be nearing adrenal exhaustion. Adrenal fatigue is often considered a kidney yang deficiency. If left untreated, it can progress to a kidney yin deficiency. These deficiencies are often marked by a light low groaning tone to the voice, a darkish pallor under the eyes, negative attitudes of insufficiency or inadequacy, needing to sit and not being able to stand for long, and worrying about money. Additionally, those who experience traumatic shock or long term stress often have their hair turn gray or fall out.
Kidney Yang (medulla): Linked to the reactive sympathetic nervous system and the hormones adrenaline, dopamine, and norepinephrine, produced in the adrenals. A deficiency in kidney yang can lead to symptoms like cold hands and feet, edema, night urination, and low libido. This deficiency parallels disorders like adrenal fatigue, hypothyroidism, and sexual dysfunction. This condition is worsened by the use of marijuana, diminishing our natural drive, motivation, and willpower. Adrenaline is used to treat conditions like asthma, anaphylaxis, and slow heart rates. It works on the cell membrane's outside, which is known as the yang aspect of the cell. It never enters the cell but attaches to a receptor on the outside, initiating a cascade of chemicals that open or close gates on the cell's exterior. In the heart and muscles, adrenaline prompts more calcium to enter, which amplifies the force of contraction; in the lungs, it leads to the relaxation of the muscles, permitting more air to flow in; in the brain, it initiates the emotional reactions connected with fear.
Kidney Yin (cortex): Associated with the parasympathetic nervous system and the hormone cortisol, produced in the adrenals. A kidney yin deficiency may manifest as sore back, leg weakness, insomnia, and anxiety. It may parallel disorders like diabetes, high blood pressure, and hyperthyroidism. Although necessary for daily function and stress response, excessive cortisol can lead to fluid retention, osteoporosis, muscle wasting, depression, and diabetes. If our bodies stopped producing cortisol, it would result in significant illness. While adrenaline binds to the exterior of the cell (yang), cortisol is absorbed into the very core (yin). Contrary to the effects of adrenaline which are more immediate, the effects of cortisol can take years.
Greek Medicine
Hot Temperament: The adrenals are generally represented as stimulating and energizing various functions to adapt to stress.
Adrenal Cortex: Sanguine, nutritive, and anabolic, enriching the blood and decreasing swelling.
Adrenal Medulla: Choleric, energetic, and catabolic, stimulating acute stress response.
Faculty Support: Adrenal glands produce supplementary amounts of sexual hormones, bridging a connection between vital and generative faculties; supporting heart and lungs (vital), kidneys and pancreas in blood sugar regulation (natural), enhancing mental alertness and stimulating the sympathetic nervous system functioning (psychic), supporting male sexual function and response (generative).
Root Center: The adrenals form the basic energetic support for the entire organism, associated with the Root Chakra.
Kidneys & Urinary Tract: Weak adrenals may adversely affect the vitality and functioning of the kidneys and urinary tract, which are interlinked with the adrenal glands'. When the kidneys are not effectively eliminating fluids, it can lead to the accumulation of phlegm and moisture. Additionally, the kidneys have a connection to the soles of the feet which may be affected by cold conditions. Conditions of melancholy or devitalization of the adrenals, kidneys, and urinary tract often correlate with chronic fatigue.
Adrenal Exhaustion: Chronic stress and irregular habits can lead to fatigue, irritability, pain, and impotence in men usually caused by flare-ups of Choleric anger or any experiences which feel like a roller coaster. Sexual overindulgence also exhaust the adrenals.
Male Sexual Function: The adrenal glands provide energetic support for male sexual function. Issues with adrenal energy may result in sexual dysfunction, including impotence or premature ejaculation.
Blood Sugar Regulation: In instances of dangerously low blood sugar, the adrenal glands jump into action, raising levels through adrenaline. Chronic instability may involve adrenocortical hormones, aggravating factors in type II diabetes.
German New Medicine (GNM)
Adrenal Cortex (Off Track)
Conflict: Feeling like you've made a wrong choice or gone down the wrong path.
Under-Functioning: Waterhouse-Friedrichsen syndrome, adrenal gland insufficiency, Addison's disease. Reduced cortisol production, feeling stressed and tired.
Over-Functioning: Excess cortisol (Cushing's disease) with high blood pressure, round face, obesity, muscle atrophy or aldosterone (Conn's syndrome) with high blood pressure, low potassium, weak muscles, thirst, frequent urination.
Adrenal Medulla (Unbearable Stress)
Conflict: Extreme tension from stress, feeling overwhelmed. Something is beyond reach.
Diagnosis: Pheochromocytoma, neuroblastoma. High blood pressure, racing heart, increased blood sugar, sweating.
Astrology
Mars: This planet governs adrenaline, testosterone, male sexual function, playing a role in the catabolic metabolism where fuel is burned. It also oversees the release of toxins, the regulation of red blood cells, iron, and muscle tissue, including tendons and ligaments. It extends to the entire muscular system, embodying vitality and physical strength. The energy of Mars is hot and dry so it's temperament is Choleric. Mars co-rules the adrenals (with Aries/Libra) and the male genitalia (Scorpio).
Aries: Aries is a Choleric sign, and its will to action makes it prone to anger and stress, which deplete and weaken the adrenal glands. The sign is energetic, sharp-eyed, cheerful, and alert, but may become irritable and have a restless tendency to keep going until burnout. This can lead to eyestrain and poor vision as the health of the eyes is dependent on the strength of the adrenals. The preference for stimulants like chili pepper, caffeine, and their attraction to the Sun can overstimulate the adrenal glands, leading them to seek cooling substances like icy drinks, fruits, and seafood.
Libra: Libra, the Sanguine Air sign that rules the kidneys and lower back, is a counterbalance to Aries. The kidneys and genitourinary tract are only as strong and healthy as the adrenal glands, which are their energetic support. Underlying adrenal weakness and exhaustion weakens the kidneys and genitourinary system, leading to urinary debility, urinary tract infections, inflammation or irritation, uremia, and gout. Since male sexual function is also dependent on the strength and health of the adrenal glands, problems may arise in this area.
Aries-Libra Dynamic: Kidneys, adrenals, eyes, head and cranium, low back, lumbar spine, bladder, genitourinary system (especially male), hips and loins. Aries represents personal power, autonomy, honesty, and decisiveness, often leaning towards individualism and assertiveness. Libra, on the other hand, emphasizes cooperation, diplomacy, compromise, and social harmony. While Aries is direct and often acts alone, Libra seeks mutual choice and operates through consensus. This represents a struggle between competition and cooperation, selfhood and partnership, war and peace, doing and being. Finding balance is needed for acid/alkaline balance, as Aries tends to run acidic, and for hormonal balance, where Aries tends toward excess testosterone. The tension between these two forces may cause a lot of frustration and aggravation, particularly in males, manifesting as irritation or inflammation of the genitourinary tract.
Healing and Relief
Diet: Paleo; reduce caffeine, sugars and sweeteners, gluten, starch, white flour, processed foods, and hydrogenated oils.
Nutritional Supplements: Ionic Magnesium, B Vitamins, Omega-3 Fatty Acids, Vitamin C, Zinc, Probiotics, L-Theanine
Herbal Adaptogens: Ashwagandha, Rhodiola Rosea, Holy Basil, Licorice Root, Siberian Ginseng, He Shou Wu
Lifestyle Considerations: Address societal pressure to perform, lack of self-care, and the conflict in real life. Regular exercise of varied intensity. Practice meditation, mindfulness, Tai Chi, Qigong. Express creatively and spend time in nature. Align sleep schedule with circadian rhythm to nourish yin. Hydrate more and add salt to water. Avoid various toxins like dioxin or insecticides which contribute to adrenal malfunction. Spend more time in the sun each day. Don't sit for too long. Try wearing a haramaki, stretch cotton (for summer) or stretch wool (for winter).

I don't get why some people get so mad over the idea that the mandela effect could be real.
Like "it's ILLOGICAL the most LIKELY thing is millions of people collectively misremembering UGH why would you POSSIBLY believe in something as WHIMSICAL as reality being a little funky and moving us slightly to the left so that a children's book was suddenly historically spelled ONE LETTER DIFFERENT than it actually was when we grew up".
Is it the lack of control? Like "oh if reality could shift like that what's to prevent us from ending up in a universe where world war 3 happens?!" Is it the inability to understand that even physics and mathematics at higher levels are not as rigid as they appear and with complex numbers and quantum physics things get real fucky real fast? Is it a lack of creativity that makes you NEED it to be the simplest most straightforward answer because that's what's USUALLY the case so therefore it ALWAYS has to be the case?
Like, I'm not talking about people who are like "nah, I think we all just misremembered it, but it doesn't really matter either way" or even those who are like "I think the mandela effect is a little silly but I don't think it's terrible to believe in it". It's the people that are SO JUDGMENTAL about those who even think it might be POSSIBLE that they're like "uh OBVIOUSLY it's just NEUROLOGY and human memory not being that good STUPID, how could you possibly think this?"
(Quite honestly, it's the same energy as people who are against even casual astrology beliefs, but in the extreme. Like do I think astrology is likely to be true? Nah, not really. Do I believe in it anyway a little bit because it's harmless and it'd be cool if it was? Yeah. Do I believe in the mandela effect? Honestly I kinda reserve judgment but I wanna think it's possible because I'd love to believe the world is weirder than we can even imagine on ALL fronts (bc there's plenty of concrete scientific weirdness to explore too).
Like... just let people have harmless weird beliefs. It's not a big deal. Stop deriding them or being so condescending when you "disprove" (read: share your own HYPOTHESES) about what actually happens in these cases.
Also, y'all REALLY aren't gonna like this, but being this much of a dick about harmless beliefs that are a bit weird or unlikely or even out of line with consensus reality, is sanism (along with often interlinked with religious xenophobia/antitheism). I'm saying this as a psychotic person: you have GOT to learn to be chill about people who believe things that aren't real to you. True mad liberation will only occur when "being normal" about things like delusions means accepting that two people can experience reality differently and both their realities CAN be true.
(Note, this does not mean every psychotic person will want to have their delusions treated as true. While reality checking is almost always harmful unless explicitly asked for, there's plenty of people for whom delusions are false and even harmful. Even in those cases, nondelusional people have no right to police how we react to them, even for 'our own good'. But acknowledging that for SOME of us they are true and real at a fundamental level despite not being so universally is an important step in recognizing our autonomy.)

Reminder that neurodivergence has encompasses ALL mental illness, non-neurotypical neurotypes (disordered or not), traumatic brain injury, seizure disorders, and ANYTHING else that causes the brain to act in atypical ways in any way.
Yes, that includes things like depression. It is not discluded because of the debunked myth of "chemical imbalances" causing it, because it CAN be less than lifelong in duration (under that reasoning, schizophrenia, which is a highly genetic disorder that simply typically presents in young adulthood would be discluded; and some people experience depression through their whole lives), or because it can be caused by external factors.
Yes, neurodivergence can be temporary, does not have to be a difference in the physical structure of the neurology (which we don't even have solid proof of for autism, the ND poster child! and under which definition TBIs would still not be discluded), and does not have to be intrinsic.
Gatekeeping people whose neurology diverges from neurotypical norms for any reason helps no one. We are in the "the extent of our medical knowledge is the four humors" stage of the development of the history of neuroscience. I rather suspect that psychology will be relegated to the realm of pseudoscience, much like astrology to neuroscience's astronomy, in time.
But the one thing we can do, is stop arguing that people's neuros aren't divergent enough because of arbitrary conditions. And I will remind people that while I'm all for death of the coiner, especially when coiners are exclusionary, when the coiner is more inclusive than you, you're PROBABLY in the wrong.
We also do have proof that trauma actively remaps your brain and that treating trauma can remap in again. The brain is far more malleable than you think. Does PTSD not count as neurodivergence? What about DID? Any gates you try to keep will end up excluding things that are accepted forms of neurodivergence.
This article (which I did not read the whole of, so please inform me if there are issues with it. I noted one myself, the inclusion of "giftedness" as a form of neurodivergence) has a list of forms neurodivergence can take. Read it, and internalize it. Because I'm tired of seeing takes like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In your opinion they are not forms of neurodivergence FOR YOU. You have no right to say that they are not for any other person on the planet. This is quite literally no better than saying "I don't consider x a disability", where x is a whole class of disabilities!
I also have autism, severe anxiety, OCD (not just tendencies), PTSD, and depression, and while I was actively struggling with it, depression changed my brain and the way it functioned MORE than the other three excluding PTSD COMBINED. That's aside from all the other misinformation you managed to cram in just the two comments, [redacted tumblr user]!
This is, a little bit, a personal vent, but this is a common issue in the neurodivergent community, and bears addressing. You don't have to consider a condition of your own neurodivergent with regards to your experience of it... but understand that you are opting OUT of a label that intrinsically applies to every neurological condition, and everyone else absolutely is correct should they decide not to do the same.

PJO/HOO/TOA CHARACTERS AND WHAT THEIR ROMAN EMPIRES WOULD HAVE BEEN::::::
Annabeth- Most certainly knew the entire lore of WWE Raw and Smackdown when she was about 8-11. Wanted siblings to tackle so bad.
Percy- The Bermuda Triangle. HOURS spent genuinely sweating about the thought of sea monsters and black holes in the ocean which could maybe get him.
Grover- Mythology. Lore. Everything he could find with amazing world-building and plot points. Certainly kept comparing Greek myths to Norse/Aztec myths and yelling "OH MY GOSH THEY'RE SYNCRONIZED".
Nico- THE OLYMPIC GAMES. Watching gymnastics and wincing everytime it looks like they're gonna fall. Picking random swimmers and betting on who would get a higher position with his sister.
Jason- Honestly, Jason would have DEVOURED the Percy Jackson series. Explains to everyone how Rick Riordan is actually a hidden gem and how he's a crossbreed of Percy and Grovwr.
Piper- OMFG FANFICTION. A devoted fanfiction.net reader until she discovers wattpad and that resets her brain chemistry. Avid reader but also extremely talented AO3 writer. On the Hall of fame of Johnlock writers.
Frank- Penguins. Knew everything about penguins from their feeding habits to their neurological functions. Tried to be a penguin- failed; tried to swim to the south pole to be with penguins- ongoing attempt.
Hazel- Anime. If she and Nico grew up together they would scream the One Piece theme songs at the top of their lungs everyday and randomly whisper the words "Banana Fish" to each other to rekindle the pain.
Lester- The biggest astrology nerd you could ever find. Would immediately explain how the angle of Saturn from the earth is causing your munchies and write a thesis on why scorpios are actually the cause of all the world's problems.
Leo- Cars. I lied. Power fucking rangers. Every single series, every single version; ate it up, bought a power rangers bottle and set the Power Rangers Samurai theme song as his alarm tune.

You've surely heard about Celine Dion's Stiff People Syndrome neurological disease. It's a cousin to MS but can be much more severe. A report came out today where her sister says that Celine has lost all control of her muscles.
Celine's health coupled with her horoscope brings up a point I express a lot with newbies and hobbyists in astrology. When you are beginning in astrology, you'll go to books or Google to see what something means. When you are at that stage, you think the whole of astrology is this means that. You may see something like, "Saturn in the 7th House denies marriage or it happens much later in life than is average. " Or you may see things about how Saturn "brings" stability and structure to life. Whatever the case may be, when you have no client experience in astrology, there is a tendency to take what's said in a book literally, which brings up Celine Dion.
What in her horoscope suggests concerns with illness? The chart doesn't have a lot of tension. Non-critical illness is a 6th House matter. The 12th House is where we see critical illness concerns. Jupiter, ruler of the 12th is squared by Neptune. Before she became ill, there's no way ANYBODY looks at this horoscope and thinks illness will be any kind of major factor in her life. Yet, she has a crippling neurological disease.
When you don't see a lot of horoscopes and are new or a hobbyists, you should buy astrology software and collect and study as many horoscopes as you can. If you go to astrodatabank.com, you can put a name in the search engine, put the data in your software and save the chart. The more charts you see, the more you'll learn important things. #1 on that list is that no human is the pawn of a fate delivered by planets. They don't MAKE you do anything. A person can be 180 degrees different from what their horoscope suggests is best for them. This and many more things are not visible to you when all you've seen is 100 or 200 charts or less.
You are not serious about astrology if you don't own software. If you are thinking about buying, my suggestions are Astro-Peregrine, Winstar, or Solar Fire.

Planets in Solar System - Class - Element
The designation of the planets in astrology is just as important as the characteristics of the signs of the Zodiac.
The planets act as sources of energy in the Cosmos, they can influence a person both harmoniously and disharmoniously.
The impact of the planet concerns both public and personal, intimate human life.
The planets are the actors of the horoscope, which activate many events.
PLANETS OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM
The Sun and Moon are regarded as planets in astrology because they serve as luminaries.
There are ten distinct fundamental heavenly bodies in all. These are them:
Sun; Moon; Mercury; Venus; Mars; Jupiter; Saturn; Uranus; Neptune; Pluto.
Rahu and Ketu are regarded as the shadow planets in Vedic astrology. A septener is formed by the first seven planets, including Saturn (a septener is a division into 7 parts).
Astrologers have historically only included the planets in the septenary, and even now, calculations do not take Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto into consideration because they are higher planets.
But all ten celestial bodies are considered in conventional Western astrology.
After studying a person's natal chart (horoscope) and being familiar with all of the planets' effects, we may determine their distinct personality trait, which includes traits of character, conduct, issues, and a representation of all life.
A SUMMARY OF THE MAIN PROPERTIES OF THE PLANETS
SUN
the masculine principle is different.
Linked to vitality, spirit, willpower, inventiveness, and general well-being.
aids in achieving notoriety, honour, and respect (or shame and a damaged reputation).
MOON
the feminine principle is different.
The Moon is related to the Soul, the mind and subconscious, creativity, adaptability, motherhood, fertility, family, country, inheritance, and fluids.
responsible for bringing about improvements in life and popularity.
MERCURY
It is a planet of intellect.
It demonstrates the vitality of conversation, thinking, and comprehension, all of which help one develop their critical thinking, analytical skills, and capacity for connections.
It tends toward variability and is connected to a feeling of equilibrium in the neurological system, the speech and hearing organs.
It gives one a hankering for business and entrepreneurial endeavours as well as a quest for information.
VENUS
It teaches how to evaluate emotions correctly and makes it possible to understand harmony, beauty, emotions, and the sensory world.
It has the power to foster harmony, serenity, and happiness as well as to sow dissension, rifts, and disappointment.
MARS
demonstrates activity, impulsivity, will, and determination, but also recklessness, animal impulses that are unchecked, irritability, a concentration on achievement, a competitive attitude, and selfishness.
Linked to inflammation, injuries, and mishaps.
JUPITER
Linked to direction, goal-setting, sage advice, fairness, deep thought, religion, and social and cultural values.
Additionally, with a worldview, a feeling of affluence, luxury, or extravagance, a desire for careerism, and a state of contentment and wellbeing.
SATURN
relates to rules, focus, boundaries, endurance, seriousness, responsibility, a sense of duty, persistence, and patience.
Also in charge of fate, time, and the gradual but inevitable success of an endeavour.
Or, on the other hand, it is connected to difficulties, hurdles, difficulties, and difficulties.
URANUS
planet with extraordinary originality, eccentricity, spontaneity, and intuition.
possesses the enthusiasm for wisdom, creative talent, altruism, surprise, and self-will.
It causes arrhythmia and nervous system abnormalities in the body.
NEPTUNE
Neptune possesses psychic and supernatural talents that can result in self-deception, brilliance, delusions, fantasies, disintegration, and fermentation.
Linked to contemplative techniques, piercing, the innermost levels of the psyche, prophetic dreams, inspiration, falsehoods, disarray, and drunkenness.
PLUTO
This celestial body is linked to change, severe circumstances, higher will, forces of creation and destruction, large-scale protests, pressure, mysticism, and the mafia.
CLASSIFICATION OF PLANETS
All the planets are divided into groups based on different guiding principles.
We'll focus on the important ones.
MALE AND FEMALE PLANETS
The Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Pluto, and Uranus are the planets that stand in for the first gender (male). They are more likely to manifest actively and externally. Venus, Saturn, Neptune, and the Moon make up the second group, which is considered to be female. These planets sense energy from the outside and are passive in their manifestations, in accordance with their roles. Mercury is unique since it has the ability to transform into either a man or female.
This is because of both its place in the natal chart and other celestial bodies' aspects to it.
Modern astrology divides the planets in this way, while other authors provide a slightly different explanation.
Saturn is the subject of the majority of expert debates, with some saying it is a masculine planet while others say it is a female planet.
Since all planets can express their traits in terms of both male and female kinds, this doesn't really matter in theory.
It matters where the planet is in this context.
Therefore, even the female planet will start to take on certain masculine traits if she is "in front of the Sun," happens to be in the eastern hemisphere, or falls under a male sign.
Both ways, the exact same thing occurs.
SEPARATION BY ELEMENTS
The Sun, together with Jupiter, Mars, and Pluto, are the fiery planets. Air bodies are Mercury and Uranus. Saturn and Venus are regarded as earthly. Moon and Neptune in water. POSITIVE AND MALEFIC
Included in the group of advantageous are the Sun, Venus, and Jupiter. They then travelled to Mars with Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, which are all evil planets. Mercury is also impartial in this situation; it will carry the weight of the planets with whom it has formed a conjunction or strong aspects.
The moon is a good source of illumination at night, but it may vary quickly and has a tendency to reflect other celestial bodies with which it has come into close proximity.
Additionally, according to some astrologers, Neptune is associated with good physique. Even if this planet has no bad features, it should be mentioned that it is an excellent illusionist. She may swiftly go from having a good "face" to having a nasty one.

Misconception: “Being susceptible to hypnosis makes you weak-minded”
With contributions from a FetLife Member
If this were true, then >90% of humanity would be “weak minded.” The only people who would not be weak minded, in that case, would be people with certain neurological and psychological conditions – whether from injury or otherwise – that impair their ability to focus or relax. Obviously, that’s rather ridiculous. It breaks down simply as a matter of definition, in addition to being utterly impractical as a metric. However, hiding within this misconception is something more pernicious. That is the idea that trance susceptibility and weakness are correlated, that the more susceptible one is the weaker one is – and that that’s a bad thing. That is also not true. The ability to follow instructions is not the sign of a weak mind. The ability to listen is not the sign of a weak mind. The ability to engage in introspection and self-reflection is not the sign of a weak mind. The ability to relax is not the sign of a weak mind. The ability to choose to do as you are told is not the sign of a weak mind. Hypnotic susceptibility is no more a sign of mental weakness than is your astrological sign or Meyers-Briggs type. Strength is not the same as being categorically unbending, as refusing to ever change, refusing to ever yield to anyone. Strength is not the same as refusing to give anyone else space, as refusing to listen, as refusing to let anyone else ever take the lead. To say otherwise is to have a very toxic attitude toward what strength is, and while one certainly can do that, it is not an attitude I support
This is part of my larger writing, Hypnokink Misconceptions! Go to the link to read the whole thing.

Howdy and hello from Finch & Wren of PicklyPair Posts. This blog is an assortment of interests, including History Facts, Our Experiences With Disabilities, Random Intrigues of Society, and College Shenanigans. If you see some shitposts or Batman-related content, no you didn't.
We have an opinion and ask Column run by Finch, and on desktop a place to post your experiences on our page monitored by Wren.
Now here are the actual intros:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Good evening,
I'm Wren, I'll be doing most of the fun fact work and the post submissions (Roadrunner Ruminations). Honestly, I don't mind most submissions as long as it's educational or fit with our content. I go by they, but do accept he/she if the occasion arises.
Fun fact about me, I have Irlens syndrome. Irlens is a perceptual processing disorder, so I have a lot of stories about me running into things. My brain is mostly just Batman, astrology, fairytales, and whatever I'm into at the moment. My academic interests are neurology, religious studies, and anthropology. I also know a lot about enneagrams and cognitive functions, it's a recurring hyper-fixation.
College is hard, and fun, but mostly hard. I'm just here to make you think a little and maybe get a laugh.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Howdy,
I'm Finch, I'll be the one taking care of asks and various content on miscellaneous, and maybe occasionally owls. (Owls are awesome.) I have VACTERL (if you don't know what that is, you soon will), ADHD, and some fun medical adventures. (Also, do not gender me, but if you must, then they/them is fine.)
My topics of interest are ever-shifting, but two fairly consistent ones are books and owls. (Why am I not called "owl" then? Because Finch is better as a name.)
The main goal I have for the content I create on this blog is to spread positivity and information. My posts may also occasionally just be rants about the perils and pitfalls of society, although I will try to keep those lighthearted, entertaining, and relatable.
Society sucks, but at least there's friends and Tumblr :)

BIOGRAPHY Born and raised in the close-knit town of Stillwater, Nancy Gallagher grew up in a family that cherished traditional values and taught her the importance of integrity and loyalty.
Throughout her youth, Nancy was known as the quiet observer, always present but rarely in the spotlight. She had an uncanny ability to blend into the background, becoming a confidante to those around her. People would unknowingly reveal their deepest secrets while Nancy listened intently, offering solace without needing to speak a word.
In high school, Nancy’s life took an unexpected twist when she found herself entangled in a captivating game of love with the star quarterback. Their courtship was a whirlwind of emotions, with Nancy playing hard to get, relishing in the chase. Against all odds, they defied expectations and tied the knot, creating a life together that seemed destined for happiness.
However, the fairy tale crumbled when Nancy discovered her spouse’s infidelity. Unfazed by embarrassment, she struck a deal, promising to keep the affair a secret if they would leave the family home, allowing Nancy and their children to remain undisturbed. Nancy’s strength and determination to protect her babies prevailing over her shattered heart.
The day of their departure was etched in Nancy’s memory like a haunting spectre. She took her children out for ice cream, attempting to distract them from the turmoil within their home. Returning to an empty house, Nancy was perplexed to find her former spouse’s car still parked in the driveway. Annoyance quickly turned to shock as she discovered their lifeless body in the foyer.
The gut-wrenching scream that escaped Nancy’s lips was a testament to the depths of her anguish. The town was stunned when the police arrived, not to console her, but to arrest her for a crime she had not committed. No matter how she fought, pleaded, and begged, the wheels of justice seemed determined to crush her spirit.
For ten long, agonising years, Nancy languished in prison, her innocence a burden she carried with unwavering resolve. She was a skeleton of her former self, her spirit tested with the harsh realities of confinement. But even in the darkest moments, Nancy clung to the flickering hope of redemption; of seeing her babies again.
Finally, a glimmer of light emerged as new evidence came to light, exposing the truth. Nancy was released, but the scars of the past remained. She emerged from prison with nothing more than a plastic bag containing the clothes she wore on her first day of incarceration.
Now “free”, Nancy faces the daunting challenge of rebuilding her life in a town that still views her as guilty. Her children, once innocent and carefree, had grown up in her absence, and reconnecting with them proves to be both a joyous and painful process.
