Deadbeat father with his baby-leashed daughter.

I believe these are the last of the designs that will try to follow the original design as best as it can because looking at my sketches right now, Alastor, Cherri Bomb, and Pentious (and Crymini) goes a different direction than their counterparts.

You know how this works, thoughts below:

My issues with their Original designs:

Niffty:

Man, I only have two things to critique about this one since she's also a solid design:

What is the purpose of the scarf? It comes out of nowhere for the design, what is the connection/purpose of having it? Genuinely asking since it does bother me a bit.

She barely is a bug, there is no feature in the design that gives us any idea that she might be a bug (Or even an alien since apparently Cyclops are just a normal sinner type in this hell). Looking at the Wiki, I think the only reason for the alien aspect is that it came from a song? Either way, she doesn't showcase any of either in her design.

Husk:

GOD THE WINGS. DEAR GOD THE WINGS. IT'S SO UGLY AND CLUTTERED AND THE PATTERNS BARELY MAKE ANY SENSE. It's so awful ewwww. Every scene that didn't have them closed looked extremely rushed and ugly. It could've benefitted from just copying how actual feathered wing patterns naturally are.

His eyebrows are not a problem for me (It's my favourite part of him) but the unnecessary two black stripes are.

He's probably supposed to be a tuxedo cat, but he legitamately looks like the cat in the hat with his entire face being white.

The thought process for these two:

Niffty:

Personally was not into the whole Cyclops thing, especially when there are no hellborns (that I can recall at least) in Helluva Boss that posess a singular eye. She's got 2 eyes now because.... reasons.

The mismatched eyes was my solution to removing the Cyclops sinners of this world. Plus it's a neat little character detail that her insecurity of some kind of eye defect manifests as this odd eye shape.

Her hair is a bit neater because as much as I enjoyed how her original hair looks, It's kind of silly to think a person who's obsessed with cleanliness would have such an unkempt haircut? (Specifically talking about that scene kid-esque bangs she has.)

While I kept the maid aspect with her clothes, I made it a lot more flowery so that it reads more like a child's outfit mimicing a maid's.

I gave her one fucked up antennae since in the rewrite ill be doing, she's very easily lost and thus became homeless, drifting to any place that would allow her to stay for a little while long until they kick her out.

Bug wings and the spurs on her arms and legs are just to sell the bug aspect a bit more.

Hopefully, it was clear enough. But her arms are made of two arms conjoined together to create a singular arm.

Admittedly, I did not choose a specific bug for Niffty. Insects are not something I'm interested in and I got lazy with this aspect.

Husk:

MADE HIM A LOT FATTER AHAHAHAHHA. Husk feels like he could've ended up as a bara if Vivzie's twinkif-y ray didn't hit him.

Specific fluff areas as well as a red mustache make him look older and do more to make you understand he's much more aged than the rest of the cast.

Genuinely enjoyed the hair that they gave Husk in his flashback, it looked handsome on him. Why Vivzie didn't put that in his actual redesign is beyond me, but here it is on him now

Since his wings barely play any role in the story, I shrunk it and de-cluttered the poor thing.

The red suspenders are there to simply put a pop of color on his already muted colors.

Despite the running joke that Vivzie's characters all have a bowtie, kept it on Husk since I think it would be cute that he probably keeps it on because Niffty made it herself for him.

This is just personal, but I wanted to give him an actual cat's pattern because I saw Husk from the headcanon voices video and thought that he was a sloth for some reason.

Hazbin redesigns

I tried to make their designs more varied in colour and actually resemble what they're supposed to be.

I gave Charlie more goat features like the nose, hooves and horns (she also has goat ears but they get covered by her hair). I also tried to incorporate the fact that she's supposed to be a doll with her joints and face paint. Her outfit stayed pretty similar to how it is in canon because I don't mind her being red when the rest of the cast isn't and because it looks cute.

Vaggie also looks more like a moth now. She has lot's of scars because of her background (she isn't an ex-exterminator in my version but im still figuring some stuff out there). She wears casual clothes because she desperately needs a rest. I also gave her a more stocky build.

For Angel I focused on a very pink colour sceme (because I like pink). I didn't have lots of problems with his original design, mostly that he doesn't look like a spider too much. I made him fluffier and gave him different teeth (which look more spidery imo) also gave him a spiderbutt because I genuinely don't know why they didn't do that in the original show.

I made Alastor actually look like a deer because he doesn't look at all like one in his og design. Also no more red since red is typically associated with danger and I wanted him to look like he could manipulate demons into giving him their soul by being charismatic (still wanted to make him look creepy ofc). Blue and gold are typically associated with Angels in this show and I thought that'd be a nice change for his colours. The stitches in his face are were the black tentacle things come out of when he is in his demon form.

I don't have a lot to say about Nifty. She is a bug now, specifically a fly. She also isn't red anymore because flies are green and because it fit with her wanting to clean stuff (since green is often connected to dirt or garbage). I gave her cleaning gloves and tried to make her look more like she could be from the 50s with her dress and hair. She has golden accents to connect her with Alastor.

Husk's design is all over the place but his redesing is probably my favorite one. I gave him a bigger build because someone who pretty much only consumes alcohol all day wouldn't be that skinny. I also tried to make him look older and more rugged. His colours were really obnoxious so I toned them down as well as the owl aspects of his design. I gave him an actual outfit since the one he has in the show confuses me and looks a bit silly.

These are designs for my AU of Hazbin Hotel which im currently figuring out. There's a lot more I could say about some of these designs but I kept it shorter here.

I also finished my Pentious and Cherry Bomb redesings, which I'll probably post a little later. I also already have ideas for the Vee's but I havent fully drawn them yet. Feel free to give suggestions/ask questions about my redesings/rewrite.

Hazbin Hotel redesign ideas p. 1

Unfortunately I don't really have time to draw rn, but here are some ideas if anyone is looking for inspiration.

THE VEES:

They follow lates trends so they won't stick to the outfits and technologies from the times they died. We even see that Vox changed his screen (head) to more modern, flat TV screen.

Valentino:

He is a moth that realises poison that's basically a date-rape drug. His wings are hidden, looking like a coat, which makes no sense, a cloak, cape or sleeveless coat would look better. He is a pimp who died in 1970s. Val was Hispanic when living. Apparently, he has bad eyesight.

He is supposed to be a moth, but I don't really see it much, and the furr around his neck, that's a part of his body, just looks ridiculous. I would design him after some actual poisonous moth.

Cinnabar moth - The cinnabar is slate-black with two red spots and two pinky-red stripes on the rounded forewings. Its hindwings are pinky-red and bordered with black. The caterpillars feed on poisonous ragwort leaves. The poison from the leaves is stored in the caterpillar's body and remains even when they are an adult. As adult they leak the poison when they need to. Cinnabar moths can be seen flying during the day and night.

Six-spot burnet moth - day-flying moth that flies with a slow, fluttering pattern. It has glossy black, with six red spots on each narrow, but long forewing. They release hydrogen cyanide when attacked.

Personally I would go with Cinnabar moth, but make the spots heart shaped, and leave his inner outfit without the accessories (the suit with the white pants and golden heart belt). I would also leave his general body type but definitely change the neck furr ring, because wtf is that? I would play around with his glasses since he is supposed to have eyesight problems.

[Edit: Actually, I would make him a combo of both moths and make the furr ring his hair, because he is bald without the hat!?!?]

Velvette:

Velv is a fashion designer and critic, she is also an influencer. She keeps the Vees together and their image fresh on the internet. She's a British black woman in her early 30's. Originally her appearance was supposed to be doll-like, but that was changed to 'it-girl' and a 'bad bitch' with a darker aesthetic.

Velvette's outfit is reminiscent of Val's (heart belt, coat with hearts, black stripes on arms) but darker, especially her sleeveless coat that imitates his wings. Since Valentino is already going to be darker (in my idea) and she is a fashion influencer it would make more sense for her to be brighter.

Main thing I would change about her is her skin tone, hair, and Harley Quinn themes left from her old design.

When creating very human like characters it's important to actually get the racial characteristics right. Her ashy skin and "curly" hair just makes it look like they didn't know how to draw a black character. I would give her a different texture, something between 3A and 4B. A hairstyle like heart shaped space buns would be so cool, but even if not, her styl in a poster in the background is already better than the ponytails.

When it comes to her style I would get rid of pom-poms shoes and fingerless gloves. Her outfit for meeting the overlord was pretty okay, but I would change her other outfit. My inspiration would be PidginDoll's design, because he makes fabulous outfits and makeup looks for all bodies, genders and races, but I'll keep the 'goth' (it's not goth, it's just a little bit alt, mostly skulls) theme.

Blue accents like makeup would work great with her brown skin and would reference Vox.

Vox:

I genuinely think he has the best design in the entirety of the show, I would barely change anything. His outfit is similar to Alastor who he is trying to imitate, but he wears a tail suit, which is way more formal and elegant than any other suit, trying to showing he is a better, modern version of Alastor. I've seen some people got rid of his hat and gave him a tail made out a cord for fun, but other than that his design is good. Not too much details and not too little, tells us a lot about the character.

Maybe less stripes, because apparently Viv loves zebras or something. /hj

Mileena: Thoughts and Opinions

These are my thoughts and opinions on Mortal Kombat that a bunch of people probably won't care about, but I thought I should post them here. Now I will be using past games as reference, even though every character's interpretation/counterpart is different, they still play part to the canon storyline.

[Warning: This post is very long. Revealing cosplay.]

I always saw Mileena as eccentric rather than crazy. The eating people thing? She's not human and is a fang faced creature, we are not to be surprised.

Appearance: Now before Mkx the female characters were sexualized for marketing purposes, but a lot of the fandom recognises Mileena to be the go to when it comes to sexualization. Even when Mkx took the designs more seriously Mileena still has that flare of... marketing. In mk11 that goes out of the window. Now mind you, I like the costumes and skins for Mileena in this game, I'm a sucker for kimonos, and that kimono still has a titty window and comes off as more revealing than Kitana's. Even when you put Mileena next to Kitana, knowing what she looks like without the mask, she's still seen as the 'hotter one' out of the two.

I think it's just the fact they babied her. And when I say they babied her I don't just mean her childish attitude that is significantly different to mk9, I'm talking about her face model. In another post I headcanoned that Kitana is 17-19 in human years because I genuinely believe she looks like she's around that age. In the previous games Kitana and Mileena both look like they are in their mid to late 20's which is how they were able to get sexualized.

Because of the redesigns I think it retconned the interactions that took place between the characters.

Ships

I find it bizarre that most of the male roster roasts the hell out of her, yet have an undertone of flirting based on interactions I've seen. Now, that's probably me being delusional and pulling at strings just to make a ship happen, but it's there.

Mileena + Kung Lao (If I'm feeling bold), Liu Kang (If I'm feeling bolder), Kuai Liang, Hanzo (childhood ship), Takeda ("You can look but you can't touch"), Stryker (watched Sonic XD's mk9 sucks video), Erron Black (I mean he did date Nitara and Skarlet), Bi Han/Noob Saibot

Out of all these ships I've listed I feel the most strongly about shipping her with Bi Han. It's mainly because of a post I saw, which was based on a meme.

Kitana: Am I ugly?

Liu Kang: No.

Mileena: Am I ugly

Bi Han/Noob Saibot: Yes.

Mileena and Bi Han are dating in this meme, btw. I think it was built on the fact that Bi Han can see her for the tarkatan she is but it doesn't disturb him. I don't think he goes out of his way to mock her, either, he's merely analytical of her. Following one of my headcanons, he takes things literal, meaning he has no intentions of harming her emotionally.

Yes, I ship him and Sereena, but I like to try new things.

"We have met before." - Mileena

"In the Netherrealm, where I consumed your soul." - Bi Han/Noob Saibot

That wasn't supposed to sound sweet, but it did. To me. There's also this video.

They both have sibling problems and were killed unfairly. Mileena's crown was snatched from her while Bi Han was made a slave alongside Scorpion. You know, the guy that killed him. They fought Kabal together.

Oh, and they can both teleport :).

It could be argued that Noob has a better chance with Skarlet since she reminds him of Sereena, but I like her interactions with Sub Zero.

I'm starting to think I should write a yandere Liu Kang/Kung Lao x Mileena (one sided), I mean Kung Lao wanted Kitana too so he could see Mileena as some kind of replacement.

Family:

I think Shao Kahn does feel some kind of fatherly attachment to her, although I headcanon that he's a narcissistic father. In Mk11 story mode he was ready to kill D'Vorah the second he found out she killed Mileena. Protective dad. I think some of it comes from the father-daughter bond he has with Kitana. While Shao Kahn did say that he kept her around just to appease Sindel, he had no need to do that after her death, so he technically adopted Kitana just because he could. And then teenage rebellion kicked in and he had her replaced by Mileena.

"Where's this boldness been hiding, Kitana? Had you shown it before, I'd have no need for Mileena." I think Shao Kahn did care for Kitana but not in a way that his mind can fully address. But he prefers Mileena, as she's the version of Kitana that won't betray him. Even though Mileena was created as a replacement he still recognised her as an heir, and his daughter.

I also think Shao Kahn can't produce children... I mean I still see Skarlet as his adopted child. Dude's straight up just picking up daughters.

Shao Kahn being a dad:

"This from the man who chose Mileena?" - Liu Kang

"Do not mock my daughter!" - Shao Kahn

That sounds like sibling jealousy, Skarlet was certainly adopted.

Bonus: Kitana

Kitana is just so out of pocket. Now to be fair, she reacted in a way that is understandable. If I found out someone cloned me and I was face to face with that clone I would freak out too. But it's what happens afterwards. Kitana claimed that Mileena attacked her when it was the other way around.

Now if we follow the events of mk9 and not the events that came before it, Kitana never got to even know Mileena, so that comment was uncalled for. Not only that, but Mileena was welcoming towards Kitana upon first meeting her. While she was created to replace Kitana, that was not her priority when she woke up and saw Kitana for the first time. It's very clear that Kitana has absorbed Shao Kahn's narcissistic habits.

Now with some interactions:

"You're more my sister than Mileena." - Kitana

"So why must we fight again?" - Jade

"Where there are siblings there is rivalry." - Kitana

"I don't suppose you have a sister." - Kung Lao

"There is only Mileena." - Kitana

"Thank you. I'll pass." - Kung Lao

I think Kitana actually carries pride over being the pretty one. I also think she took pleasure in making Kung Lao uncomfortable.

"That honour is Mileena's" - Kitana

Out of pocket, no one said Mileena's name yet Kitana brought her up just to insult her.

Skarlet and Mileena should've had a bond of some kind that wasn't antagonistic. I already wrote a post about this some years ago on my old Tumblr account, but I deleted it so I have to start over with this post. In Skarlet's original story (before the retcon) she was created in the flesh pits and even appears a few times during the mk9 story mode, so by that alone Mileena and Skarlet have a connection.

In the retcon Shao Kahn is the one to teach Skarlet blood magic, but I always saw sorcery as Shang Tsung's speciality since Shao Kahn has his kingly duties to fulfil so I think it would be much more fitting if Shang Tsung taught her under Shao Kahn's orders, that way her and Shang Tsung have a bond of their own being teacher and student to compliment the fact that he created her back in mk9.

Now, Kitana has Jade so it was an opportunity to have an evil doppelganger situation with Mileena and Skarlet. They both like gore, they both hate Kitana because Kitana was mean to them, and they both don't like Jade. They both also have a thing for Sub Zero, which means they have similar tastes. They should get along. And for them to not get along I think it should've been the normal sibling dynamic where they would easily get into fights and do little things that annoy the other, but deep down are fond of each other. Something that counters Kitana and Jade's you're like a sister to me that you don't see real siblings experience.

If we're gonna follow the fact that they should get along, then Skarlet could've been the cool older sister. She had a boyfriend (Erron), she is good at what she does, and she's just as feral as Mileena but is more laid back. I can picture her helping Mileena with her makeup and her training. The sister that Kitana never was and refuses to be. On Skarlet's part it could be a thing where she remembered how it felt for Kitana to belittle her and for Jade to shun her for not being Edenian, and decides that she refuses to be the same to Mileena.

I have said a bunch of times that Shao Kahn sort of adopted Skarlet or sees her as a child of his. He took her away from the streets because she showed fire, and that's how a lot of adoptions go from what I heard, there's something about the kid that sparks something in that parent. But I think because Skarlet doesn't have royal blood and is a street urchin is what doesn't make her worthy of the title of daughter in Shao Kahn's eyes even if the bond is potentially there.

As much as I would love them to get along, Skarlet is jealous of Mileena. The fact that a clone was able to be given the title 'daughter' in a blink of an eye in comparison to Skarlet who had been serving him for more than centuries. "Shao Kahn needs no more Kitana clones!" is her way of saying that she wants to be recognised, loved and appreciated. "A pity you will never be his daughter." from Shang Tsung wasn't just any statement, he can see that this street urchin orphan who will not be mourned wants a parental figure in her life, and that unfortunately became Shao Kahn. There could've been the potential that it would be Shang Tsung, but we all know what he's like, he would see her as nothing more than a student who wants something more.

Skarlet lusts for power, and I theorise it is because she's trying to fill a hole, which is common in people who lack certain things in their life such as emotional stability and parental support. Having power will give her that sense of control over her life, supposedly.

Following my headcanon that Skarlet desiring Skao Kahn is a sign of her insanity, her need for security, appreciation and love has been perverted by the very thing that gives her power. Poor Skarlet.

I genuinely can’t understand the reasons of certain character design choices in Netflixvania.

Most of the game characters were redesigned, but they kept some distinguishing features from canon:

Trevor has brown hair, blue eyes, and a scar on his left eye - nevermind that in canon the scars were implied to come from Dracula’s fight in C3;

Sypha has the blue tunic (and in the Pachislot games, she has strawberry blonde hair that could be seen as almost red);

Dracula looks nearly identical to his most standard design, as seen in SoTN, CoD and OoE, but with black hair instead of white;

St. Germain has long blonde hair, a beard and a mustache.

Alucard, Hector and Lisa are the only characters that keep their game designs almost 1:1. Alucard, I understand because he’s iconic, how could you ever change him? :P Lisa was not meant to appear much so they likely took the easy route. But Hector? The major change in his design was making his skin darker (which is a topic for a discussion for people more qualified than me), plus subtle simplifications to his hair and outfit, but why does he look the same? Not only he has nothing in common with his game counterpart outside of his powers, but, well, I already pointed out how suspicious it is that he and Alucard, the most faithful to the games and the most feminine men in the cast, got treated the way they were.

On the other side of the spectrum there’s Isaac, of course. He has pretty much nothing in common with his game counterpart bar his clothes, stolen straight from the PtR manga. In his case, the question is, why did you even bother pretending he was a canon character? To lavish in the praise for “fixing” Isaac?

It’s impressive how they didn’t get a single thing. Isaac’s main features are:

red hair, which N!Isaac was supposed to have according to concept art, but was scrapped for some reason;

a general red motif to contrast with Hector’s blue, which N!Isaac barely has, in his eyes (why does he have red eyes like a vampire?) and his magic;

tattoos, which tell a whole story without words: Isaac is into body modifications for reasons left to us to interpret (masochism? Defiling his body as an act of defiance against God? Simple art?), but the Devil Forgemaster crest on his back is of particular significance, as it marks him as Dracula’s loyal but insecure servant. N!Isaac’s tattoos are... weird? It’s just a bunch of straight lines and dots that don’t mean anything. The most generous interpretation I can give is that they make him look like meat to be cut, and he does mention that in the past some people wanted to do just that (but in a throwaway line, not important enough to be an integral part of his design), but otherwise they’re not as impactful as G!Isaac’s complex, abstract tattoos;

a general flamboyance :P bangs that cover one eye, makeup, high-heeled boots, low-cut pants, take your pick, Isaac clearly likes being looked at (not counting the BDSM outfit because that’s a result of his insanity). Needless to say. N!Isaac has none of that, and he looks rather drab.

Very interestingly, N!Isaac has been very much masculinified and stripped of any flamboyant quality, and also depicted as an ultra badass competent fighter... while Hector, who now looks very delicate looking by comparison, doesn’t have a shred of his canon combat prowess. You notice this recurring theme of “masculine = cool, feminine = weak”?

It’s all very confusing to me. Why not stick to one approach? Either everyone looks the same, or they have only some elements in common - Isaac being an OC in all but name was a big mistake and he should have been named something else. This pick-and-choose style is just confusing and, as pointed out, comes off as very disrespectful for multiple reasons.

A Post-Civil War, Pre-Secret Invasion AU where Steve is dead, Tony's a mess, and everything sucks. In which Tony deals poorly with Steve's death, falls off the wagon, sees ghosts, and misses a lot. Oh, and the Skrulls are about to invade.

Literally a classic, this fic is the SteveTony Odyssey.

The perfect, the perfect Endgame fix-it. There's a certain kind of magic in this story that I don't think I've found in any other stevetony fic to date. This fic is heartbreak and grief and guilt and friendship and romance all rolled into one indescribably lovely story.

Sorry, I didn’t have one for Tea Knight/Werewolf, but I got an affolilac (I assume that’s the ship name) one for you, this girl is Black Tea Cookie

So I know her name doesn’t quite sound like the obvious solution, so let me go through my thought process. So first I thought to do a poisonous purple flower, bc lilacs are purple flowers and Affogato has an association with poison. But then later I thought, “coffee is a drink, so maybe a drink made with flowers?” and so I went looking for teas, and then I decided on black tea, which technically isn’t made from flowers, but the plant does make flowers

Black tea (and also the flower of camellia sinensis)

So initially I planned for her to be more purple, but since black tea is more red and I wanted to keep that in the hair, and the red and purple didn’t look like they belonged together, so I made her more red. I was also debating giving her the coffee pupils, since black tea does have caffeine in it, but I ultimately decided against it. I made her outfit entirely Yogurca inspired since I imagine that the family is living there, and also that Affogato might just be wearing that outfit because he was working in the Dark Cacao Kingdom. From what I understand he’s not native to the area. Also I wanted to add some camellias into her design, since Lilac has flowers in his. To be honest, I feel like she definitely looks like Lilac’s kid, but I’m not so sure about Affogato’s

Anyways, on to her herself. So like I said, in this hypothetical scenario Affogato moved to Yogurca and decided to stay there with Lilac, meaning this is where Black Tea grew up. She may look sweet and innocent (I’m not sure I properly conveyed that but that is how she’s supposed to look), but like her fathers she is in to some shady business, specifically poison. She’s been fascinated with it all her life, and I imagine Affogato encouraging this behavior. Not sure about Lilac, but he’d probably at least teach her to kill. Unlike her parents though, she is very upfront about what she does, offering people poison as a solution to their problems. And just in general she’s a pretty honest and responsible little girl. She just also deals in poison, and has possibly killed a Cookie. Nobody knows for sure if she has other than her, including her parents

I have this image in my head of her meeting either Caramel Arrow Cookie or Dark Cacao Cookie, and while they’re wary of her for being Affogato’s child, they recognize she’s not evil. She just follows them around or something. A situation arises and she just goes “we can use poison on them” and they’re just like “no, stop resorting to murder, what is your obsession with poison??”

Yogurt Cream basically made himself Black Tea’s uncle and probably tries to spoil her, but Black Tea’s favorite person is her aunt Scorpion Cookie (I suppose assume Scorpion and Lilac got back on good terms). Scorpion genuinely loves Black Tea back and trains her in the art of poison

I'm probably the odd one out here but I genuinely do think that the way Dan is portrayed in Fate's Arrow is perfectly in character for him. There are things that contradict here and there obviously but a lot of canons in a lot of fantasy worlds do that, so it's no bother to me. As a Star Wars and DC fan I'm used to that stuff, anyway.

I've been playing the MediEvil games since I could first hold a Ps1 controller, and before that I even watched my dad play them and read out the lore to me like a bedtime story. And I can happily say that Dan's backstory in that comic doesn't bother me or make me wish it was completely different at all.

The fact Dan was a pompous bastard when he was still alive is... incredibly fitting. Of course I do love the fanon idea of him always having been shy and reserved, but him having been a cocky, self-entitled asshat living off Daddy's trust fund while also being a liar and a massive coward makes for an absolutely perfect story. It makes his redemption when brought back from the dead, as well as his resentment towards his former self feel all the more genuine.

Like... the point is, we weren't supposed to like him. The whole point of the comic is to make the audience understand that Dan (alive) is practically irredeemable and show how absolutely unfit he was to be a captain of the guard... because that's the joke. That's always been the comedy of it. He's a jerk, he's selfish and careless and cowardly. He's awful and thats why his future self is so agitated when reflecting on his past and wants so badly to fix his errors.

It's a way of the writers explaining that if we had known Dan when he was alive, we would have hated him and never wanted him to succeed. Maybe even wanted Zarok to win, but I'm just riffing. But we didn't know him then. We knew his redemption arc only, for decades, and we already loved him. And then we were given the full story, and learn how much of a dick he was. That is incredible storytelling.

I love the fact he was an asshole. Through and through, for all the above reasons. It makes so much sense.

Additionally, his appearance. I see a lot of people ragging on the way he looks, and I get it, but let me just say that the fact he looked when alive was so rediculous and goofy only compliments the storytelling. He absolutely does not look trustworthy, or brave or powerful. He looks wonky and unkempt. When gallowmere retold the life of Dan, it makes sense that when lying about his success, they would exaggerate his conventional beauty and describe him as some sort of demigod, when in reality he was just an average joe among the castle. Also the facial hair is literal genius. It made me giggle. The point of his looks in the games was to look goofy enough to giggle at, so of course that would translate to his living face as well.

I think the problem people have is, we've become so accustomed to the way Dan is portrayed in the actual games during his redemption and how his persona was presented to us then, that we've already sort of developed a version of him in our minds that we cling to. So that when we're shown how Dan actually was when he was alive, it's hard to take in and accept since we already have a fanon to ourselves. Which is fine, because creation sparking creation is the best and fandoms keep media going. We've already filled in the gaps of his past ourselves because we've only ever really known his future, and thats why Fate's Arrow Dan is such a turn off to so many people.

But, like I said, it fits, it makes sense and I'm glad the writers went with it. I have seen so many fan portrayals of living Dan throughout the decades from so many different talented people I still did, do and always will love them. But I absolutely love the canon we were given and I wouldn't have it any other way.

(Also- I saw some comments about how Dan looked different when alive in Resurrection- and just allow me to point out that so did everybody. Every character and thing was redesigned in the PSP version, including the story. That's a whole different universe, so it's unaffected by the comic entirely.)

P.S., I absolutely agree with the fandom though that Tim is trans. I know the comic said it was "crossdressing" but come on. In a world where magic can bring scarecrows to life and fire breathing dragons exist, a trans man simply existing and being happy in the 1200s is beyond normal.

I’ve already made my own post about how utterly frustrated I am with how Vivzie wrote and designed Alastor and then had another chance to redesign, and then fumbled the bag again.

I’m glad that there’s some people who are unapologetically open about how often she mishandles her BIPOC and queer characters (thought I was alone out here for a second) because the (minority) of most fans who disagree, usually do so in fine print partly because it’s like walking on eggshells doing so.

Like seriously, most of the fandom on twitter has got to be some of the biggest dick riders I’ve seen, you’d think they’re getting paid instead of Vivz.

I love the concepts and characters and do draw fanart for it but as far as [mainly financial] support goes. no. These characters and concepts slap when I pretend they aren’t written and designed by Vivz

When it comes to Alastor, EXACTLY! That’s why my post was so long and ranty when I was talking about his “redesign” because like you said, she had the chance to change his OBVIOUS problems but didn’t do shit. It really irked me, especially how she had the opportunity to finally use some more color variety since he was too red but again, she didn’t do anything, and thanks to her, he’ll probably melt in the backgrounds unless these artists working on the team know how to use colors but I doubt it. Oh, and now CHARLIE’S all red thanks to her, when she was literally fine before in my opinion. She looks too similar to Al, and now she’ll barley stand out. 😑

And yeah, I’m glad people are realizing she isn’t the best at writing LGBTQ+ characters. Charlie and Vaggie were literally afterthoughts and only existed in the story because Viv’s friends thought they were cute, Vaggie is a lesbian and yet Viv decided to keep her joke of a name, her two openly gay characters Angel and Stolas just spout sex jokes all the time like stereotypes, Blitz is used for gay banter as well, Sallie May just feels like an afterthought for brownie points, all I can say is trust me, there’s BETTER LGBTQ+ rep out there people. 😬

When it comes to the Twitter people, holy HELL yeah. It’s not just Twitter, it’s YouTube as well (cough Saberspark.) I don’t have a problem with people genuinely liking the shows, but Christ are some fans SO blind with their head up their asses. It’s sad too, I’ve come across channels who actually criticize media, but suddenly when it comes to Hazbin and Helluva boss, they’re biased and say it’s the best and phenomenally written without giving a lick of genuine criticism whatsoever. I can’t say what anyone else hasn’t already said about this, some of these people need to wake up because Viv at BEST is a mediocre writer who needs to improve. Her storytelling skills are zero, she’ll SAY something about a character without properly conveying it, she relies on edgy dialogue and curse words instead of actual jokes, I could write a library on the issues as a writer she has, (which is why this blog mainly exists lol) and the fandom just constantly sucking up to her isn’t helping at ALL. How is she supposed to improve if everyone keeps saying she’s perfect? Literally the main thing a critic should know is no matter HOW good a story is.......it can always.....ALWAYS be BETTER. There’s always room to improve no matter WHAT. That’s why I was so happy to find a few videos who DO actually critique her shows (I made the playlist post for Hazbin and I’ll do it for helluva soon) without blindly asskissing it.

And lastly, yeah, again it’s sad. I’m interested in Hazbin, I think the show has SO SO much potential to be something truly amazing, I love how it’s about redemption for people who are already gone, and I love the character concepts. There’s obviously a way this could all WORK, it’s just...Viv that’s ruining it so far. I’ve seen so many fan comics, songs, fanart, fanfics, SO many good ideas by fans that are 10x better than Viv’s. I know I’m sounding petty but I just want her to improve, and if she can’t, I hope there will be OTHER writers on the team for this show once it comes out, writers who are PROFESSIONAL, who know how to handle certain topics, writers who know what they’re doing instead of dicking around because vivzie ain’t it. I hate how everyone acts like she’s this goddess who doesn’t need criticism whatsoever because her animation and colors look so pretty and was able to make this indie show. People say she’s either perfect or use the excuse that she’s indie (which yeah apparently excuses that no it doesn’t) and fans need to wake up and start realizing that she’s not perfect and needs some work.

Hazbin Episode 2 Liveblog

Episode two, here we go!

I will admit, one of the only 'leaks' I've ever looked at was the copyright office one that gave the titles of season one since it felt like less of a 'leak' than the others, and I was so excited about early access because it pretty much said 'this episode will have at least one part be about Alastor and Vox'. VERY curious to see where this goes.

I am so charmed by Vox already. I love Vel's voice too.

One of the boards says 'trust us*' above '*with what? that's none of your business' and my theory that Vox uses his tech empire to gain energy/power and a cult-like following seems to be accurate, especially considering that electricity bit when it first cut to him. (It also makes me wonder- is part of the reason Alastor hates TV so much just because it might make him subconsciously susceptible to Vox's influence?

Oooo, he can travel through electricity like Alastor travels through shadows.

The fact that the dress seemingly inspired by her original one is the one she likes is a cute little callback.

Robofizz!!! Man, wouldn't it be funny if THAT was the 'character that's in both series' that Viv mentioned on a stream once? (I still figure it's likely to be one of the other sins since that's what makes sense.)

Also, not really what I expected for Val's voice? I suppose I didn't really have a concrete hc before, though, so I'll adjust.

So Angel used to literally live at the studio? They must have rooms there for the staff to keep a tighter leash on them.

That filter on Vox's voice the second he hears about Alastor... I think the fact that it seemingly only appears when he's knocked off-kilter makes an interesting contrast to the fact that Alastor's is always on.

The idea of making Alastor's little minions living inkblots is a fun one! Sort of an old-timey animation vibe?

Wouldn't it be funny of Vox goes through a whole big musical number and Alastor just... doesn't even see it.

Oh, he saw it... and just chose to completely ignore it. Which fits what I've been musing on, how he refuses to let Vox know directly that he gets under his skin without trying to brush it off as not worth any real time or effort.

I guess it does make sense the con got ruined pretty much right away, they do have a lot of ground to cover. It does feel a little odd to have him calling himself unforgivable when he's only been here for, like, a day, though. You fucked up too fast for them to get any real useful info.

I really like the harmonies in the song! It sounds really aesthetically pleasing.

Pfffft, Niffty. Her dreams of snakey bad boys shattered. I still think he should fill her with eggs though. Just once.

'Ol pal, huh?' You know, I WAS always curious why Vox was on the list of overlords that had been in hell 'for centuries' that Alastor toppled- I joked once that HE was the original radio demon before Alastor knocked him out and he pivoted to TV, but it sort of sounds like he latches on to whatever new technology there is to keep on top so it's entirely possible that they were both radio-themed at one point before some sort of fallout.

Honestly let me be salty for a moment oh my GOD some beings are sooo annoying and so fucking . how do I say this . I just KNOW how they put conventionally attractive beings or characters or both above those who are nawt conventionally attractive . Rant under the cut I'm angy

So what tf am I on about ? MY HUSBAND . THE WAY THE FANDOM HAS TREATED HIM I SWEAR TO GODDDDDD .

Blue-haired S1 Shi was treated so gross by so many and if I had a dollar every time I read somebun being ableist back then I'd have had a small fortune . I had chuckled at the crusty jokes a little , because I was young and hadn't read up about BFRBs (body-focused repetitive behaviors , such as compulsive hair ripping or in his case , skin picking) , skin conditions and was generally less mature but even then it felt odd how nobody really . . . Talked about him aside from that , and like , maybe one other topic I'll get to in a sec with minimal conversation about anything else !

Of course I perhaps wasn't looking at certain sides of the fandom , and I have no doubt a small group of beings genuinely liked him / talked about him and his backstory / wrote things that weren't just sexua.lization but the loud majority on this was like this , y'know ? It was all "haha crusty ewww stinky" n shit like that , or the occasional "degenerate gamer [insert pure sexua.lization here]" but I never recall seeing more than maybe a handful of genuine appreciation for him , or curiosity / concern for his backstory .

And then came white-hair Shi , which I suppose I could blame some of what I'm about to talk about on the fact this change also came with him having a big moment w Chis.aki , but when it happens to this scale I cannawt provide that much benefit of the doubt .

I suddenly saw so many more beings start loving him , and although I'm happy it led to others opening their eyes on a character whom I truly love it all felt weird . Out went the insults and disgust , and immediately came so much love . But I'm nawt even really sure if that's the right word .

With all this sudden positivity , a lot of writing or art or whatever containing certain themes suddenly popped up . Beings who would talk down about him now seemed to still find him disgusting , but in a way that could please them . I have no issue with writing works like that , however , being who's apparently actually reading this ?? , it feels a bit upsetting to watch others only like uur favorite character because they can write him as some kind of massive , violent pervert .

I don't know I'm just so salty because I've loved him since way , way before he had that redesign . I love how he looks with his white hair , and it's what he was always meant to have , but I can't help but always think about how it's a safe bet to believe that lots of those who have accounts full of only thirst for him and claim to be his fans were also probably throwing around insults and making fun of him for his hygiene a few years ago .

Also like . Insert that one post that goes if uu claim to be a fan of a character but only care about them when uu can sexu.alize them uu are nawt a fan of that character . Okay . That's all I just had to get this off my chest bc I genuinely care so much about this for no reason and need somewhere to put it lol .

The Batfam as Tech Majors

AU where Alfred got tired of watching Bruce slap duct tape on the Batmobile and call it good, so he forced the children into college. He makes each of them complete an internship with Lucius in R and D so they have better knowledge of how the devices that their lives depend on work. Majors/minors/tropes under cut.

Dick:

Mechanical Engineering Major

He was in undeclared engineering for as long as possible

He settled on mechanical because it seemed the most broad

Plus he joined a car club, loved it, and there were a ton of MechE’s there

He ends up taking credit overloads most semesters because he always finds 1-3 random classes that he wants to take

Despite taking everything from advanced computer science classes (he somehow convinces even the most intense professors to let him into their classes) to hyper specific phycology classes, he doesn’t have any minors to show for it

He just gets bored with the subject after a couple classes

This gives him a bunch of random knowledge

When he talks to his younger siblings about classes, somehow he’s always managed to take at least one that they’re in, and offers advice.

He has the best RA stories. He most certainly did not need to be an RA. But the school was hurting for them and he thought it would be fun.

His residents loved him, but that didn’t stop them from playing beer pong in the common spaces at 3am.

He founds a circus arts club after his residents pull up information about his past and get overly excited about it

Specifically, he finds out they know about his past, because one of them decided it was a good idea to try and juggle knives, and because he’d prefer there not to be any additional bloodstains on the carpet he decides to start the club

He nearly graduated late because he forgot he needed to take specific classes for his major

Barbara:

Computer Science/Math duel Major

She’s a TA for Comp Sci 1, all the students fight to get her help because she’s amazing at spotting bugs and is super patient

Somehow she’s the president of 3 clubs and is on student senate

She’s the curve breaker

She gets homework assignments meant to take a week done the day they’re assigned

She and Dick went to a single party together, stayed for five minutes, decided it was too loud, and went to get ice cream

Along with her club, she’s in professional organizations, and is part of a women in STEM mentoring program

She started a petition to get more wheel chair ramps installed. Half the buildings are protected under some “historical grounds” bs that’s an excuse for not being accommodating

The petition didn’t go anywhere at first, but it was widely shared on social media and made the school look horrible, so they implemented some of her proposals

Jason:

Philosophy/Cognitive Science duel Major

He gets asked “There’s a philosophy major?” every time he has to do one of those stupid what’s your name and major icebreakers

Jason lives in the library

He’s fallen asleep in there at 3am after it gets locked up

He quotes philosophers at his siblings when they’re being annoying, and it effectively shuts them up, because he only quotes the most nonsensical arguments

He gets involved with the college’s community outreach program

He volunteers for a local robotics team

When people find out his majors, they’re genuinely confused, because he understands robotics really well

He lies his ass off about being really interested in it as a child

Dick convinced him to be an RA for a semester, and he almost had a heart attack

Someone choked in front of him on the first day

Despite seeming like a tough RA, he genuinely cared about his residents and had to quit because he was so stressed out that one of them would do something stupid and die

Cass:

Innovation/Design Major

She’s really observant, so she’s great at spotting flaws in infrastructure and coming up with ways to fix them

Spending time with Barbara made her realize the lack of systems designed with wheelchair users in mind

Her experience being illiterate and not knowing English has imprinted on her the need for signage that can be understood by anyone

She focuses on taking project based classes, where she can draw out her designs and build them, rather than figuring out the math behind them

She has patents for the inventions she created at WE

She was exempted from the “Alfred’s mandatory college degree program” but decided to go as a part time student for herself

It took her twice as long to graduate, and a lot of tutoring from her siblings, but she made it!

The family threw her an extra special party when she graduated - everyone else had minor celebratory dinners, but they went all out for Cass

There was not a dry eye at her graduation ceremony

Cass works part time with WE on and off as a designer after her first internship

She comes up with ideas during patrols, draws them and sends them to Lucius

Tim:

Computer Science Major with a minor in game design

He makes it to approximately 20% of his lectures

He nearly didn’t graduate on time because he put off his humanity courses for so long

He missed the actual ceremony, even though the family showed up

He starts all his assignments the day before they’re due

If at all possible he avoids groupwork and offers to do assignments by himself because he gives his teammates heart attacks when he starts his part the project at 3pm the day before it’s due

This leads to extremely frequent all-nighters

He always finds himself rewriting everyone else’s code to make it work more efficiently

This can, of course, cause some people to feel a little upset

Other students specifically seek him out as a teammate so they can half ass their parts

He participates in game jams when he has time, and got super into the hacking club

Against all odds, he joined a fraternity

Dick literally fell off a building when he found out

He makes up stories about partying for the heck of it, when in reality he and the guys just play Smash Bros together until 3am

He hasn’t seen anyone drink more than two beers, and he hasn’t tried alcohol there either

He joined on accident, he had just pulled an all-nighter and stumbled into a recruiting fair, he heard someone shouting about Mario Kart Double Dash, and bada bing bada boom, he agreed to rush because it involved being stuck in a room playing video games all weekend

Steph:

Civil Engineering Major with minors in Sustainability and STSS (Science, Technology, and Social Science)

She gets constantly shit on for being a civie

Every time she introduces herself someone mumbles “fake mechie” in the background

She and Jason complain about the disrespect together

She was genuinely shocked when Bruce offered to pay for her college tuition

She’d been planning on going and cutting costs any way possible

But Bruce took her aside when she was applying and offered to pay it all

Her sisters think he’s adorable and he secretly enjoys the attention

She gets her revenge on all the civil engineering haters by landing her dream job redesigning the poorer areas of Gotham to include more green spaces, increase affordable housing, and upgrading access to utilities

Duke:

Biochemisty Major with a minor in Neuroscience

Harper, Tim, Steph, and him are all in the same year

Tim convinces him to join the fraternity with him

He joins a variety of professional groups as well

He mentors other BIPOC, and joins NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) and runs helps run professional development programs

But he’s also in like million other clubs that he does not put on his resume

He’s runs the college’s meme page club, is part of the Pokémon Go club, is on the competitive Overwatch team, consistently attends the anime club’s Dragon Ball Z watch parties, joins the Dance Dance Revolution club, and the list goes on and on

When Tim is awake, and Harper isn’t busy, they go with him, but both of them have too much inconsistencies in their schedule to join

He ends up meeting like half the campus

He unintentionally has become a god of networking

Unlike his siblings, he goes all the way for a doctorate

He researches Joker venom, determined to figure out a cure for his parents (in my HC, he eventually does)

He wins like every award imaginable for his groundbreaking research into venoms as he comes up with vaccines that save countless lives

He still works on the meme page, even after he graduates

Harper:

She somehow defies all odds and triple majors in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering

She takes credit overload every semester, and gets credit for her internships at WE

She and Steph were roommates freshman year, and Steph swears that Harper never sleeps

She is the most wanted partner for every engineering project

She thrives in college, and lives off of coffee

She’s in the front row in every lecture

She doesn’t leave the lecture halls, she’s gotten locked in more than once after falling asleep

She had a heart attack the first time she saw students using the machine shop

Half the students weren’t wearing safety glasses, she counted three people wearing slides, the machines were rusted over, the soldering irons were all broken, and she nearly watched someone break their wrist using a power drill

She refuses to work there

Her secret to success is prioritizing - she absorbs the material like a sponge so if homework is only worth 5%, it isn’t getting done, and she’ll just cram before the exam

She almost joined Tim and Duke’s frat (it’s co-ed), but she didn’t have the time

They let her in without rushing senior year because Tim ended up as the boss, and he said so

Cullen:

I don’t know a ton about Cullen, but I feel like he would be a comp sci major

He comes in when Harper, Tim, Duke, and Steph are upperclassmen, and he joins all of Duke’s clubs

They have a million inside jokes

To the other siblings, it seems like the two have their own language

He also joins a club that mentors LGTBQ+ students at the local high school, and encourages them to pursue STEM careers if they’re interested

Jason recruits him as a mentor for the robotics team (he’s the lead mentor at this point) after some of the kids in his mentoring program mention him at a meeting and Jason is like O.O

He avoids parties at all costs, and ends up joining the frat as well

It’s all Duke’s fault he’s in a frat

He does however, meet some lovely boys in the frat

Damian:

Aerospace Engineering/Environmental Engineering dual Major with minors in sustainability and biology

He nearly riots when he’s presented with the college’s idea of a vegetarian/vegan meal

He manages to get out of the meal plan after that, and begins rallying students to push for better options that contain actual protein

He joins a community service club that works with the local animal shelter, and secretly joins the circus arts club (that’s thriving even without Dick there)

He learns how to sew blankets out of old clothes for the animals

He and Barbara are the only siblings to graduate with a 4.0, simply because they were the only one that took the time to actually do all the homework, and remembered to turn things in on time

He refuses to live in the dorms, and instead lives in one of their apartments nearby (once again somehow managing to complain to the college enough to get his housing waived)

He literally walked in once when visiting Duke, and immediately walked out, and resolved never to step near one again

He makes a total of three friends while at the school, both are in the animal shelter club

They exchange vegetarian/vegan recipes, and get together to cook

He decides to move off campus with them his junior year when they needed another roommate, and he won’t admit it to his siblings, but he had a ton of fun

He and his friend group may have joined an animal rights hacktivist group and may have helped orchestrate some major hacks

Poisson Ivy finds out and feeds him targets and information when they’re supposed to be fighting (she just walks back to Arkham if the others aren’t watching, and slips him a list at the end)

Bonus Bruce:

He cries at every graduation

He’s asked to make a speech at every graduation

He never does - it’s about his kids, not him

He single handedly is keeping the school from bankruptcy - not that any of his kids (other than probably Barbara) know

He sobbed for days after Cass graduated

He genuinely didn’t expect Dick or Tim to graduate

After Dick graduated, he wouldn’t let Bruce touch any of the equipment, and the rest of his kids followed suit

He isn’t actually bad at engineering, his education was just super informal, and hey duct tape works 95% of the time in his experience

The real reason Alfred was annoyed was because he refused to take the time to properly fix something if someone was in danger, and then he’d forget that he’d just used duct tape to patch something

But now since no one lets him touch anything, he’s genuinely lost a lot of the knowledge

But in a pinch, he can fix stuff

So this definitely isn't as original as I once thought haha, but after discussing it with some friends, I wonder if Dojima was originally supposed to be the killer.

I’m not pulling this out of the air just because I think it would be cool (though it certainly would have been interesting), but for a couple of reasons. For one, we have the trains of thought that the in-game narration goes down when you choose the wrong answers. Most of them find solid reasons why a character couldn’t have done the murders - you were with your friends often enough that you’d likely have seen them participate in its cover-up, you have no significant evidence that any of the uninvolved randos can even get into the TV, Nanako can’t push an entire woman into a TV because she’s too small, etc. Of course, when you choose Adachi, the evidence, such that there is, stacks up against him, and he becomes the prime (and correct) suspect - but the longest incorrect thread of events is Dojima’s. It describes how he fits every single possible criteria (means, window of time, lack of suspicion, etc.), and only rules him out because of his love for Nanako, and his desperate move to save her. But this point ultimately ends up being rendered moot, as Adachi had no hand in who the TV chose next and was as surprised as Dojima was (and given that he seems to genuinely care for Nanako, I doubt he would have chosen her of all people to throw in). Even though Nanako had been put in danger, there was no way to anticipate it, and thus Dojima could absolutely still have been behind the crimes.

There’s also a curious element of the narration in the concept art bonus segment of Golden, where it goes over each major character and discusses their beta designs. Both Dojima and Adachi were redesigned (Dojima from his sort of yakuza-adjacent look, Adachi from looking like a horrible fish man) for the specifically described purpose of making them look “less suspicious.” It’s possible that they said this to avoid outright spoiling that Adachi is the culprit, but if that was the concern, why even mention suspicion at all? They could have just said their current designs were more likable and pleasant. So why else would Dojima, as well as Adachi, be changed to look less like stereotypical scary criminals?

I think this theory may also explain some of the oddities in the writing - namely, the somewhat clumsy nature of both Adachi’s motives and Nanako’s “death.” A lot of the reason I wrote another essay about my extensive alternative hc for Adachi’s murders (posted shortly after this because I have no sense of order, maybe read that first) is because it feels a little slapdash - like they were tossing things at a wall and seeing what stuck. As a result, his murders and his attempt to destroy the human race have almost no motivations in common except that he’s a misanthrope. Nanako’s death and subsequent revival also seems poorly explained other than the doctor's vague comment about "she must have heard your voices" - what changes between the ending where you kill Namatame and the endings where you don’t that would affect whether or not Nanako lives or dies? It’s not her death that doesn’t make sense so much as it is that her coming back to life goes completely unexplained... and both of those clumsy parts would be easily explained if Dojima was originally going to be the villain, and they had to change it relatively last-minute, thus the feeling that parts of the game were rushed. Maybe Adachi's motivations feel a bit slipshod because they were slapped together last minute... and as my friend suggested, maybe the reason Nanako's return to life was poorly explained and plotted because she was originally supposed to stay dead, thus combining with Chisato as a reason that Dojima would somewhat suicidally try to wipe out the human race at Ameno-sagiri's behest.

When my friend and I were discussing it, we figured the reason the developers didn't go through with it was probably because they couldn't find a motive for Dojima's murders, because we sure couldn't come up with one. It's true that the murders may have gone differently in the original concept, but in the game's current state, I couldn't see them happening with Dojima as the culprit. Whether you go by what the developers attempted to portray about Adachi, or whether you go by my personal opinion of his motives, it doesn't matter, because neither could be logically applied to Dojima - he can't have a motivation based in yandereish expression of attraction/love when a significant portion of his character is having been so shattered by the death of his wife that he's spent the last three years trying to avenge her. He also can't have blamed these two characters who had no association with each other with his wife's death - sure, Mayumi's from the city and maybe she could have been the hit and run driver, but Saki has no association with her and might not even be old enough to drive, so there'd be no reason for him to kill her too.

(The only possible motivation we could come up with was a joke that my friend made a while back on an unrelated post, where the “true motive” for killing Mayumi and Saki was that they were both secretly TERFs. We both agreed that would be a pretty sympathetic motive for murder as murders go.)

I finally finished it, sanders sides as sonic characters!

At first I wanted to do sonic characters taking role of the sides, but I lost motivation of that idea quickly and did this instead.

To keep the sides' shapeshifting abilities aswell as an explaination for some of the sides' poor human communication skills I decided to make them a race of shapeshifting aliens! As if we don't have enough weird aliens in the sonic universe-

When he first tried to take the shape of a mobian, Patton wanted to be some kind of dog, but Roman suggested the frog look instead because it was much more unique and Roman chose dog first.

Roman took an unnecessarily long amount of time to actually settle into a look because there were too many choices and he wanted an animal that's both fitting and unexpected, until finally he settled on a dingo.

I actually had to go back and redesign roman after I went overboard with remus' design (despite him looking like tw barker in a shitty disguise)

Remus decided to take the dingo look because roman chose it and he knew how much Roman hates when he matches with him. But Roman couldn't just choose a new look since he took a long time to finally find the perfect one and didn't want his brother to ruin this for him

Yeah, no surpeise there. Virgil likes cats, he acts like a cat, and the 2 other sonic cats we know are purple just like his color, so of course he became a cat

(I'm actually really proud of how this one turned out)

Logan has made some research into the more intellictual animals of earth and came up with a short list, narrowing his choices down until he was satisfied with the look of a blue jay.

(This is my least favorite design he looks so weird)

Honestly, the only reason Janus chose this look was to mess with people. He chose two of the animals that are known for being sly and decievable and just Frankensteined them together, Remus seems to love the look. And it helped with his jack the ripper mixed with disney-villain aesthetic

Now onto the story I guess

Eggman has abducted them for one of his crazy schemes, but the 4 (roman, patton, logan and virgil) escaped

while Janus decided the best way to survive until they are rescued is to suck up to eggman, pretending to he on board with his scheme and throwing complements here and there to fuel the doctor's ego, eggman didn't seem to recognize more sarcastic tones and Janus just used that to his advantage and sprinkling in a bunch of sarcastic bitter remarks about that supposed "genius plan"

Meanwhile Remus was genuinely on board with most of the doctor's plans, chaos and destruction for the sake of it? Hell yeah count him in! That until he realized how much of a loser eggman and his schemes actually are and just kinda showed up with the heroes to help and kick eggman's ass.

After getting rid of eggman, the group took a liking to this new planet and decided to stay just a little longer before returning home. Taking the shapes of mobians to not draw too much attention

For the most part anyways. Janus and remus don't really care too much about appearances and just took the shapes and combinations of whatever animals they saw fit/thought were cool.

I drew some more stuffs

So the first one (top left) was from me thinking of a hypothetical scenario where Layton was the elder sibling, and Desmond the younger. Just based on what we know a lot would be different if that were the case, one thing in particular being that Hershel Layton would almost certainly not be Theodore Bronev, but more likely the actual Hershel. The most likely scenarios I could come up with are either only Hershel gets adopted, leaving Theodore behind, they both get adopted by the Laytons, or perhaps the Laytons find another family close by them who can take in Theodore. The drawing here’s basically supposed to be when the Laytons show up, coming to adopt Hershel, but he’s hesitant to leave his brother, while Theodore looks concerned for him, wanting him to go with them to be safe

Next I drew Curious Village Lucy, because I wanted to draw Curious Village characters yesterday. Granted that didn’t end up happening because then I just decided to draw Des’s family, but maybe next time. I don’t know how to draw poppies. Maybe I should have draw forget-me-nots instead

Then I tried to Eileen in the Layton style, but I don’t think I did that well, especially with the eyes. I think I need more practice with this style. She just looks off

Then I just randomly decided to draw Eileen and Des waking up in the morning, because why not? I like Desmind with long hair

Then I drew a slight redesign of Eileen, mostly because a: the ponytail is difficult to draw, and b: I wanted to give her a popped up collar. Note, she’s supposed to be wearing a dress, sort of like Emmy, but I never draw her bottom half so you can’t see it. The glasses are still a pain

Finally, I decided to draw Des with his daughter, whom I have redesigned for the third time, and at this point I think I’m just gonna go with CV Lucy being his daughter (if you wanna know thoughts on that here’s the link), because I’m pretty sure I’m the only one who thinks it and I like it (I do plan to make a follow up to my theory now that I’ve played through Curious Village). I think I’ve finally settled on a design I like. Also I decided to make her headband red so that each member of this family has a splash of that red in their designs; Desmond with his tie, Eileen with her glasses, and now Abbigail with her headband. I didn’t give Desmond glasses because I’m sticking with the idea that he wears them solely for show, and doesn’t actually need them, it’s just part of the disguise, so him not wearing them is him being more genuine
