Chapter 12
Everyone became quiet after the gunshot. No one moved as though their feet were firmly planted on the ground. I looked into my father's lifeless eyes. They were as vacant as they had been when he had been alive. I was expecting to feel some shame or guilt. I felt nothing but relief because I was no longer bothered by an issue. My gaze slowly lifted to my father's guys, who were still stunned. Most of them had known me since I was a child, and I knew none of them could have predicted the conclusion of this visit. Even I couldn't have imagined it, but I'd done it, and there was no turning back now.
“If any of you boys have an issue with this turn of events, I’ve got plenty more bullets in this gun.” My voice never wavered, and I was shocked by my newfound assurance.
Nobody argued. Instead, they knelt before me, one by one, like a freshly crowned queen. And I guess that's what I was now, since the line of succession went with the most powerful and vicious. Who wouldn't think that someone who had murdered a previous boss and father wasn't the strongest? I lowered the gun with a sneer on my face. “Good.”
That's when Elvis rediscovered his voice. “You alright, darlin’?”
I returned his stare, which was filled with worry. I smiled at him, soothing him. “I’m fine. Somehow…it was always goin’ to end this way. If he had killed you, I would have eventually killed him anyway.” I believe I was fortunate in that I was faster with my draw. Because if he had shot Elvis, a part of me would have given him a lot slower death than a gunshot through the skull.
Elvis approached me and drew me into his arms. I hid my face in his shoulder, taking a deep breath and sobbing. My adrenaline was wearing off, and I felt like I had ran 10 miles. Elvis massaged my back and kissed the top of my head softly. He spoke quickly in my ear words of comfort and encouragement till I was able to stand on less unsteady legs. Even when I confronted my new mafia lackeys, he maintained his arm around me.
“Take Daddy’s body and bury it somewhere no one will ever find it. Not even me,” I ordered, “He doesn’t deserve to be buried on his land with Mama.” They moved fast, four of them effortlessly pulling Daddy off the floor. “Oh, and before you go do that…know this. The rivalry between the Presleys and the Walkers is over. We are one mafia family now and we work together.”
“And any of you who don’t like it can join Walker in his new unmarked grave,” he said. He returned his gaze to his subordinates. “That goes for y’all as well.”
Everyone agreed with a nod of their heads.
***
The next months were a flurry of joy. Elvis and I had a magnificent wedding on the grounds of Graceland, recognizing that having it at home was more meaningful than having it in Hollywood. Anne became my maid of honor after I persuaded her that Elvis wasn't the rotten offspring of Satan she imagined. Jerry was Elvis' best man, and Elvis insisted on having the Colonel escort me down the aisle. I was on the verge of tripping the old snowman with each stride, but I held my cool for Elvis. I knew he'd realize who the Colonel truly was one day, even if it wasn't today. It was a day filled with smiles, giggles, kisses, and photos that were plastered on every magazine cover the next day. I swear I could hear Elvis's fans all sobbing together the moment he said "I do."
Colonel maintained his word and landed Elvis an acting contract in Hollywood after the honeymoon in Hawaii. The Colonel practically urged Elvis to leave me at Graceland, claiming that the movie star life was too hazardous for me. Colonel caved when Elvis stayed firm and threatened to ruin his Hollywood career if I wasn't allowed to go. It was difficult to leave Graceland since it had become my home, but Elvis was my heart, and I would follow that wherever.
We'd been in Hollywood for about a month, staying in a home paid for by the studio. Elvis returned home late from filming most evenings. In the beginning, I would be with him in the studio during the day and at night. But I had a cold from being outdoors the first week, and Elvis required I go home around sunset if he was still shooting. I was almost happy at his demand for the sickness still hadn’t disappeared after a few weeks. Most days, I got a headache and felt sick. I had gone to the doctor that morning, and now I was looking in the bathroom mirror, wondering how I hadn't seen it sooner. I couldn't decide whether I should be delighted or afraid, and what would Elvis think? His film career had just begun; he didn't need this further burden, did he? He was already exhausted.
I was still lost in contemplation when I heard the bedroom door open. Elvis stepped in with his hair unkempt, his shirt undone, and traces of performance makeup on his face. “Laura Jean?”
“I’m here,” I said from the restroom. I took a big breath and tried to relax. I needed to tell him, and I needed to tell him immediately. I stepped inside the bedroom.
Elvis grinned the moment he spotted me. He approached me, placed his arms around my waist, and pressed me against his body. “How’s my mafia queen doin’?”
I chuckled lightly. “Making sure all the business Daddy had been neglecting because of his vendetta against you is settled. Seems he forgot about everything else when you bested him.”
“A mafia boss with a one track mind ain’t never gonna succeed in his game. It was only a matter of time before someone dethroned him.”
I chewed on my lower lip. “So, I went to the doctor today…”
Elvis' brow wrinkled, and the playful expression on his face faded. “What’s wrong? Is this about your stomach bein’ upset all the time?”
“A-A little…they figured out why.”
Elvis pressed his palms on my cheeks, compelling me to face him in the eyes. “Laura Jean…darlin’ tell me what’s wrong.”
Looking him in the eyes shattered me, and the tears I'd been holding back flowed down my cheeks. “I’m pregnant, Elvis.”
As Elvis maintained eye contact with me, I could see gears working in his mind. Waiting for his reply was like treading on pins for me. He brushed my tears away with his thumb before bending down and kissing me tenderly. He lingered for a few minutes on my lips before drawing back. When he did, I saw his eyes were glossy from the unshed tears. “I ain’t never thought I could be more happy than I already was. I was sure I didn’t deserve anymore happiness after all that had been given to me. Now, I feel like I’m gonna burst into sunshine or somethin’. I love you so much.” He put his palm on my stomach, which had not yet started to reveal what was going on inside of me. “Both of you.”
Wrapping my arms around Elvis' neck, I finally allowed myself to feel thrilled about my pregnancy. “We love you too.” He clutched me hard, his face buried in my hair.
All the cool kids have these, so I figured I'd make one as well. Splitting them up by fandom since I have a bajillion fandoms and fics. List updated as of 2/24/2024. Some of the links go straight to my works on AO3 and some go to a post I've made here on tumblr. It's a work in progress.

Everything We Know About Mary & George
BY EMILY BURACK PUBLISHED: NOV 16, 2023
Mary & George, a new period drama which will chronicle the affair between King James I and George Villiers, Duke of Buckingham, promises to be one of the most highly anticipated shows of 2024.
In fact, the romance between the two is referenced in Casey McQuiston's Red, White, & Royal Blue novel, wherein the fictional Prince Henry writes, "I feel that James I, who fell madly in love with a very fit and exceptionally dim knight at a tilting match and immediately made him a gentleman of the bedchamber (a real title), would take mercy upon my particular plight." In a fun turn of events, actor Nicholas Galitzine stars as both Henry in Red, White, and Royal Blue and as the "very fit knight," a.k.a. George, Duke of Buckingham.
Here's everything we know about Mary & George so far:
It's based on a true story.
Mary & George is adapted from The King's Assassin by Benjamin Woolley, a nonfiction book that details "the conspiracy to kill King James I by his handsome lover, the Duke of Buckingham."
Per Sky Atlantic, "Mary & George is inspired by the unbelievable true story of Mary Villiers, who moulded her beautiful and charismatic son, George, to seduce King James VI of Scotland and I of England and become his all-powerful lover. Through outrageous scheming, the pair rose from humble beginnings to become the richest, most titled and influential players the English court had ever seen, and the King’s most trusted advisors. And with England’s place on the world stage under threat from a Spanish invasion and rioters taking to the streets to denounce the King, the stakes could not have been higher."
Galitzine is also set to star in Red, White, and Royal Blue this year.SKY AND AMC
The plot continues: "Prepared to stop at nothing and armed with her ruthless political steel, Mary married her way up the ranks, bribed politicians, colluded with criminals and clawed her way into the heart of the Establishment, making it her own. Mary & George is a dangerously daring historical psychodrama about an outrageous mother and son who schemed, seduced, and killed to conquer the court of England and the bed of King James."
Julianne Moore and Nicholas Galitzine lead the cast.

◈ what made you pick up the current muse(s) you have? ⋯ For my fandomless OCs, it's just because I love their characters or have grown to over the years and to get to know them more so that when I write about them in my WIPs, they are fully fleshed out characters. Of course, there may be some differences between for example Tori & Alex in the RPC and Tori and Alex in my WIP about them. But I do feel RP helps me to get to know my muses a bit better. (I'm not going to do all of my fandomless OCs but I will say that I do love all of them. And have books planned for many of them, after I finish the books of Tori & Alex's story.)
For Antoinette, I was inspired after seeing Beauty and the Beast (2017), idk why. Something about that movie just caught my muse and I was like what if one of the feather dusters was gay and black and ...yeah, Antoinette was born! I absolutely adore her. <3
For the [Redacted] Doctor, they were born out of a desire to see T'Nia Miller portray the Doctor (even though she was already in Doctor Who. I know, I know. But so was Peter Capaldi.) And then I kind of developed a personality for the Doctor and a story and yeah. The rest is history. <3 I adore them so much too. <3
For The Thirteenth Doctor, what can I say? She's my Doctor and I love her. And I can relate to her so much, but I also admire her character as well. So she's an interesting muse to play. I love RPing her. <3
For my Witcher muses: Yennefer, Ciri, Renfri, and Jaskier: Yennefer I love but do find difficult at times. However, I welcome the challenge. And I look forward to getting better at slipping into her voice as time goes on. Ciri is my favorite character and so it was an easy choice picking her as a muse. Similar to 13, I can relate to aspects of Ciri while admiring others. And that makes her an interesting muse to play. Renfri, I loved her story in the book and in the show, and wanted to make her really come to life. Jaskier is probably in my top 5 favorite Witcher characters, at least in the show. He brings some lightness but also is not too light that it takes away from the realism. He's a well-rounded character, I think. I often suck at portraying male characters, at least IMO, but Jaskier was an easy one for me to write because he's not super macho or anything lol. And he's a character I can also relate to in some ways, so yeah.
For my Bridgerton muses: Daphne, Eloise, Benedict, Simon, Kate, and Penelope. I adore Bridgerton. It's like Jane Austen meets Gossip Girl with more diversity and so once I finished watching s2, I was like....I need to add muses. Daphne is a character I really enjoy and s1 is told through her perspective, so you really get to know her. Eloise is ahead of her time and so bold and I love her for it. Benedict is artistic and sensitive, especially for the time he lives in. Simon is also a character I really enjoy watching and getting to know in s1. Kate is probably my favorite character of all (Eloise is a close second. And Daphne is a close third.). And Penelope? Who wouldn't want to explore her complex character?
Now on to my Arcane muses. Vi, Caitlyn, Jayce, Viktor, and Mel. Vi is a bit of a challenge, but like with Yennefer, I enjoy it. Caitlyn is probably the character I relate to the most out of these muses of mine, so of course I had to RP her. Jayce, I thoroughly enjoy him. Viktor same. Mel same.
Motherland: Fort Salem muses: Raelle, Tally, Abigail, and Scylla. I relate the most to Raelle and Tally but I adore Abigail and Scylla as well. I love the show in general and it being taken off Hulu is my villain origin story lol. <3 So portraying these wonderful muses just made sense to me.
Ann Walker is the character/person I relate to the most in Gentleman Jack, I'm much more of an Ann than an Anne, though I'd say I have aspects of both. LOL. But yeah, I felt like she was underappreciated so I picked her up as a muse.
Laura & Carmilla from the Carmilla Webseries & Movie: I'm pretty much the bisexual nonbinary version of Laura. LOL. So I had to RP her. And while I can't fully relate to Carmilla I do adore her as a character, so RPing her seemed to make sense.
Now on to my ASOIAF/Game of Thrones muses: Daenerys and Arya. These two are my favorite characters in that world. And I can relate to and admire both of them. So like with 13 and Ciri, that makes them interesting muses to play.
◈ is there anything you don’t like to write? ⋯ Besides the obvious topics that I'm uncomfortable with that are in my rules, I'd say I don't want to write angst for the sake of angst. Like I love angst, don't get me wrong. I adore angst. But it has to make sense for my muse and their story. I feel the same way about fluff, btw. hahah. As long as the mood makes sense for my muse and their story, though, I'm good.
◈ is there anything you really enjoy writing? ⋯ Angst. Hurt/comfort. Fluff. Romance. Smut (sometimes). I enjoy writing anything and everything.
◈ how do you come up with headcanons? ⋯ It varies depending on muse. Sometimes if they're a canon muse, I'll react to themes or ideas or scenes in their canon. Or even fandom interpretations of them. For my OCs, I tend to think of headcanons based on what I feel needs expanding on. But tbh, I am always open to suggestions for headcanons for any of my muses.
◈ do you write in silence or do you play music? ⋯ It depends on my mood. I've done both. Hahah.
◈ do you plan your replies or wing them? ⋯ I'm much better at winging it, but I don't mind plotting and working things out if it's what my RP partner prefers. I'm flexible like that :)
◈ do you enjoy shipping? ⋯ Yes! I am shipping trash and proud of it. That being said, chemistry is always needed.
◈ what’s your alias/name? ⋯ Star
◈ age? ⋯ 29, but going to be 30 soon
◈ birthday? ⋯ August 21st
◈ favorite color? ⋯ Blue,
◈ favorite song? ⋯ Long Live by Taylor Swift (Idk what she put in that song but I love it.), There It Goes by Maisie Peters, The Lighthouse by Halsey, Born for This by paramore, Daffodil by Florence and the Machine (that's the song that inspired my username etc.), Believer by Imagine Dragons, Thunder by Imagine Dragons
◈ last movie you watched? ⋯ Not sure
◈ last show you watched? ⋯ Sex Education
◈ last song you listened to? ⋯ What's Up by 4 Non-Blondes. Always reminds me of my favorite show ever (which I somehow have no muses from lol) Sense8.
◈ favorite food? ⋯ Anything Italian. Especially pasta & chicken parmesan. And meatballs.
◈ favorite season? ⋯ Summer! I was born in the summer, and I don't mind the heat. I actually hate being even a little cold. So spring and summer are the seasons that make me the happiest.
◈ do you have a Tumblr best friend? ⋯ I have trouble gauging things like this sometimes due to being neurodivergent, but I'm going to tag some friends/RP partners I love: @bewitchingbaker, @uncxntrxllable, @the27percent, @lovepurposed, @hegrowth, @jynxd, @shimmerbeasts, @ferinehuntress, @luposcainus, @vdinus, @shchvnts/ @mostmagicals, @indigodreames and tbh I consider all my mutuals friends. If you follow me, ILY <3
Pretending I was tagged by/ Stolen from @ferinehuntress
I think we're past the point of possible spoilers, so as promised: the 2pg book conversation that was cut for time (and realism). Originally, I was experimenting with "unsent" books as part of the conversations, but I thought it would ultimately be too confusing and opted not to use that, so anything you see with a strikethrough is an "unsent" book.

Artists, websites, interesting places & things ! ...
My memory is poor. As for the purposes of updating, I will add new postings to the top of the list. Albeit not alphabetized in this manner, it is easier to maintain.
I started the list so I would have all of the artists I love, places I've been, websites I like, all at a glance whenever I work on projects. Then I decided to share it. I mean, why not! At present it's mainly names without context. Which is a little unfair to artists. However, as I get more settled in my new home,I will provide more links, etc.(With Artists Permission Naturally.)
Thank You For Being Here ..... ~S
Peter Coulson - Photographer
Alina Bobyleva - model. (With the exception of a few fashion photographers I greatly respect, (*One of whom I will link above this note), I don't normally like to put too much emphasis on the modelling industry per se. However, with as much focus on blond or raven haired, tanned models. This young lady is a fair skinned redhead. When I was growing up as a fair skinned dark shade redhead, you never saw yourself represented in the fashion world.
