They hadn’t spent a new moon alone in decades, not since the dark, moonless night that took their husbands and made them both widows, left behind to care for young children in a harsh world.
Even all these years later, grief cushioned by time and new love, the dawning of such dark night pushed them into hiding even from sleep.
Sango stared up at the ceiling of the hut, watching the candle light flicker weakly against the heavy shadow, Kagome’s fingers brushing through her grey locks slow and rhythmically as breathing.
“Do you image they’re waiting for us?” Kagome asked, and Sango tilted her head back enough to see her weathered face.
The wear and wrinkle of so many years had done nothing to dull her loveliness or her shine, and she could still see the strength of the soul that had loved them all through so much tragedy glowing brightly when she smiled.
“Miroku won’t be.” Sango answered confidently, and she felt Kagome’s hand pause momentarily in shock before continuing its soft ministration.
“Oh?”
“No. He would trust me to figure it out and be on his merry way to reincarnate as quickly as possible. Too many beautiful backsides to caress, you see?”
No matter how old they grew Kagome’s laugh stayed the same, a musical chime that filled up everyone who heard it with a warm light.
“You’re probably right.”
“Do you think Inuyasha is waiting?”
“I hope not.”
“Really?” Sango asked, taken aback.
“Really. I hope he’s moved on to a much easier life. I would expect you to wait for me though.” She said sternly, finally pulling her hand free of the hair she’d been caressing and linking her fingers with Sango’s.
With a quiet chuckle, Sango brought their joined hands up and pressed a kiss to Kagome’s knuckles.
“I’m afraid we’ll have to go together or not at all.
“Hmmmm…” Kagome hummed, eyes narrowing, a smile tilting up the corners of her mouth, crinkling the skin, making her look so young despite the decades she’d existed through. “Alright. You’ve got yourself a deal.”
Closing her eyes and sighing in contentment, Sango felt the heavy weight of sleep settle over her.
“Is it Dawn yet?” She asked, and Kagome answered by easing slowly out from under her head and slipping into the bed, curling up against her side.
“Yes, thank the heavens. Every month seems to get harder and harder. We’re getting old for this New Moon vigil.”
“Who are you calling old?” Sango quipped, and Kagome snorted, pressing her forehead against the space between Sango’s shoulders.
It was the very position they’d slept in nearly every night since their love for each other evolved from friend to lover as they’d carried each other through the mire of grief.
Sango knew she’d never sleep again if she couldn’t feel that pressure there.
“Us, that’s who. Now get some sleep. I want to walk to the lake tomorrow.”
“Alright alright. Goodnight Kagome.”
“No my dearest, good morning.”

Moments For You by Carrie Ann Ryan
5 stars
I really liked these two! Both people have experienced loss which was compounded by what happened afterwards. Both people have had their own way to deal with their grief and pain, and are on their way to healing. Neither is exactly where they want to be, but willing to try and get there in their own way. They make each other stronger, they help each other accept themselves, and they understand there will be set backs. Much like them, before I knew it, I loved them, and was so happy for their HEA <3

Green Hope
“‘Be Bop a Lula,’” he says.
“What?”
“That’s her name, ‘Be Bop a Lula.’”
Jill inwardly rolls her eyes. Jason has been softly pushing her for more during the last year. More time together, more intimacy, more thoughts of moving in together. She’s a ‘less is more’ kind of woman. At least, that’s what she’s become.
“Why is that the plant’s name?” Jill asks, pointing to the hanging plant in his…

it’s just really interesting that you have ryan being so self-aware of the fact that buck and eddie are the worst at relationships with anyone except each other which means the writers definitely know it too, and they still chose to have buck talk about dating with chris.
in the single, first, most impressionable episode that’s supposed to introduce buck, eddie and chris to the abc audience, you have them deliberately choosing buck instead of say, bobby (in terms of people eddie goes to for advice), who has two successful relationships under his belt and constantly gives eddie relationship advice specifically.
you have them deliberately introducing them as a family unit and it’s…a choice…

vaguely mentioned this in my recap but those things are long and just me live-blogging
celia is the ONLY tea drinker in the OIAR, everyone else drinks coffee
i think this goes on the list of evidence for why she's from the TMA universe
the magnus institute was tea centered, it was martin's whole thing and all of them drank tea
actually, elias drank coffee didn't he? sorry vaguely off topic but he had coffee when melanie poisoned him. i wonder if that's also symbolic of him not belonging either, he was out of place because his ass was not elias. that's DEFINITELY a reach but it's interesting
the OIAR is coffee centered, but celia drinks tea, because she does not belong there, she's from Somewhere Else
very interesting to use the drinks as symbolism, unless i'm reaching

Well, @carlyv is loving the angst so here is some more!
~*~*~*~
What if Steve never made it out of the Upside Down after the attack on Vecna? He tells Nancy and Robin that he’s going back to check on Dustin and Eddie and takes off back to the trailer park. They leave through the gate closest to them and think that Steve got out through the one in Eddie’s trailer. Dustin tries to drag Eddie to the gate with him but isn’t strong enough and has to leave him behind in order to survive. By the time Steve gets to the trailer park, Dustin is missing and Eddie is surrounded by blood.
He heard the clock chimes, he knows Max didn’t make it. If she died, something had to have happened to Lucas and Erica. As he stares at Eddie’s pale face and blue lips, he falls to his knees. He failed. Steve was supposed to protect everyone and now half of the Party is dead. They didn’t even get to kill Vecna/Henry/One. He didn’t have time to grieve over his failure or the loss of his friends. Instead, the sky erupted into flames and the fallen bats came back to life. They shook their necks, stretched their wings, and as soon as their eyes fell upon Steve, he knew it was over.
All at once, the demobats descended. They tore through the leather jacket as if it were paper, their teeth gnawing quickly into the preexisting bites on his sides. He couldn’t even scream as tails wound against his neck and limbs. He struggled but alas, it was no match against the plenitude of bats. Just like that, he was stuck in the Upside Down.
The rest of the Party would commence in the hospital surrounding a comatose Max. They would wait for Steve, check his house, and then check Robin’s. But he wasn’t around. He was still Upside Down lying right next to Eddie.

I cannot image how difficult Brok’s death must have been for Sindri - losing his family, and knowing he inadvertently denied his brother an afterlife.
But making it worse, the missing soul piece also means that they will never see each other again. Sindri retrieved his brother from the Light because he couldn’t bear to part from him. Ironically - tragically - that decision has now separated both eternally. They could have reunited in the Light one day, if only he’d been able to resist and wait. Now, since Brok’s soul will never find its way there, they’ll be apart forever.
Sindri’s distress and rage is not just over Brok’s death in of itself, not just his guilt at accidentally costing him a life in the Light, but also an utterly unimaginable pain because he will certainly, unalterably, never see his brother again. hopefully he finds comfort in Brok forgiving him
