love when men cry about body hair bc "it's hygiene" and yet 15% of cis men leave the bathroom without washing their hands at all and an additional 35% only just wet their hands without using soap. that is nearly half of all men. that means statistically you have probably shaken hands with or been in direct contact with one of these people.

love when men say that women "only want money" when it turns out that even in equal-earning homes, women are actually adding caregiver burdens and housework from previous years, whereas men have been expanding leisure time and hobbies. in equal-earning households, men spend an average of 3.5 hours extra in leisure time per week, which is 182 hours per year - a little over a week of paid vacation time that the other partner does not receive. kinda sounds like he wants her money.

love that men have decided women are frail and weak and annoying when we scream in surprise but it turns out it's actually women who are more reliable in an emergency because men need to be convinced to actually take action and respond to the threat. like, actually, for-real: men experience such a strong sense of pride about their pre-supposed abilities that it gets them and their families killed. they are so used to dismissing women that it literally kills them.

love it. told my father this and he said there's lies, damned lies, and statistics. a year ago i tried to get him to evacuate the house during a flash flood. he ignored me and got injured. he has told me, laughing, that he never washes his hands. he has said in the last week that women are just happier when we're cooking or cleaning.

maybe i'm overly nostalgic. but it didn't used to feel so fucking bleak. it used to feel like at least a little shameful to consider women to be sheep. it just feels like the earth is round and we are still having conversations about it being flat - except these conversations are about the most obvious forms of patriarchy. like, we know about this stuff. we've known since well before the 50's.

The hardest, but most important, part of my transition has been untangling what my personal dysphoria is, and what is more a result of cissexism.

What I mean by this is that I learned that I am not dysphoric about certain aspects of myself, my body, and my life, but my discomfort in these aspects was influenced by the cissexist culture I live in which told me I couldn't exist as myself.

It's definitely a slow process, but I have found that it helps me self-actualize and actually see myself instead of what others demand of me.

well i think about how chuuya was "programmed" to trigger corruption whenever he says his edgy little poem thing and how tf do you program a person? well you condition them. repeat actions and behavior, punishment etc etc. like training a dog...

thing is, N was purposely trying to get chuuya to go into corruption mode, which means he had a way to keeping him at bay or even deactivating it that means he would eventually have been able to become self reliant with corruption had he learned the escape sequence. But he never learns it, bc that would have meant enduring the torture for longer. He accepts never being certain whether he's ACTUALLY an human and not a lab made clone and lets DAZAI be his escape sequence instead. if anything that proves his humanity more, doesn't it? Humans rely on humans, and dazai and chuuya are humans, even if they aren't sure of it.

#i found this book i don't remember where when i was 10ish and tried to read it. very audacious seeing as i knew like 50 words of english #i skimmed through it looking for words i recognised. mouse. snow. coat etc #then i encountered the phrase ''worsted chenille'' and it was the last straw #i knew what worst means. it means very bad. it's in past tense for some reason. and chenille is a caterpillar. in french for some reason #and this doesn't make the sentence any more intelligible! i thought it was about clothes? wasn't this guy making a coat #what role does the worst caterpillar play in this project #it was demoralising i felt like english & i would never work. you can know the words and they still don't make sense #the words worsted chenille have haunted me ever since
