Sharing this because I got the urge to write. It's not really an AU, but I guess I could make it one it you guys wanted.
Smokescreen woke up with a pain in his chest which quickly faded. Pushing himself off the ground he looked around. A pyramid, more accurately, the inside of one. He had been hit by Megatron's new weapon, the Dark Saber.
He looks down at himself, the Phase Shifter on his wrist, that must have been how he survived. Dirt and grime all over him, he'll have to wash up later. A big slash mark across his chest and shoulders, tinted slightly purple. He didn't know why, but he felt like he needed to hide it.
Smokescreen picks up dirt from the ground and smears it on the wound, wincing in pain. Maybe that wasn't the best idea.
He slips out of the pyramid and sees Optimus fighting Megatron.
Smokescreen walks into base, surprising everyone that he was still alive. Even Arcee seemed somewhat glad that he hadn't been reduced to dust. Bulkhead attempts to strike up a conversation but he's interrupted when Arcee asks a question.
“How did you survive?”
Smokescreen chuckles, “I may have borrowed the Phase Shifter…”
Smokescreen knew he was going to be scolded for taking it, but he didn't care. It kept him alive. Ratchet opens his mouth to scold Smokescreen, but the look on his face makes Ratchet stop.
“Smokescreen, I'd like to give you a checkup,” Ratchet states as he starts walking to the med-bay.
Smokescreen follows close behind.
Once in the med-bay he sits down on a medical bed. Before Ratchet can tell him to do anything he takes a nearby rag and cleans up the dirt he rubbed on his wound.
Ratchet immediately moves closer to inspect it, growing worried as he notices the purple tint. He takes a sample and puts it under a microscope. After a while he starts trying to mix up some kind of concoction.
“Uhh… Ratchet, what are you doing?” Smokescreen is very confused.
“I'm making a medication to help fight the dark energon,” Ratchet doesn't look up from what he's doing.
Smokescreen looks down at his wound. He knew deep down why Ratchet was doing that. The wound was created by a weapon of dark energon, an infection of some kind would be expected, but that didn't stop Smokescreen from freaking out internally.
Ratchet handed Smokescreen a cup a few hours later. He takes a drink and starts coughing, it tastes horrible.
“It's bad,” Smokescreen groans.
“It's medicine, it's not supposed to taste good,” Ratchet sighs, “Just tell me if you start feeling weird or something. I made extra in case you need it.”
Ratchet starts welding up Smokescreen's wounds.
Smokescreen wakes up in the middle of the night, a strange voice in his head. It's too quiet to make anything out, small whispers of chaos. He practically slides out of bed, forcing himself to get up. One look in the mirror sets him into panic mode, he needed to get Ratchet, now.
He runs through the halls and bursts into Ratchet's berthroom, “Ratchet!”
Ratchet barely wakes up, just enough to see what had Smokescreen all worked up. He quickly gets out of bed and drags Smokescreen into the med-bay. He forces more medicine down Smokescreen's intake, clearing up what had them both worked up. Purple optics, finally returning to a sky blue.
Ratchet spends the rest of the night making more of the medicine. They both knew fully well that the medicine only worked for a few hours at most, but they both prayed that was enough. Enough to keep the dark energon at bay… enough to keep Unicron at bay…

Final continuation of the last couple of posts...
Hardcase has been in an out of consciousness since surviving the bombing that should have very much killed him. He was barely aware of Krell condemning him, Jesse and Fives, and didn't stay awake long enough during what little treatment the medics could administer him, before the 501st and 212th were sent off to kill each other under false pretenses.
He is awakened by a great big commotion upstairs. Covered head to toe in burns, pained and confused, Hardcase can only lay in his cot as he hears the roars of some unknown beast. Hears the faint screams of the general and the slashing of sabers. Hears the horrifying shrieks and roars of whatever has gotten into the base growing louder and angrier...
And then silence. The kind where you'd be able to hear a pin drop.
Hardcase lays in his cot, blinking slowly as he tries to focus. Strains his hearing to figure out if anyone is out there. Hopes that maybe, whatever it is, might have taken out Krell and left (because even if he is a Jedi, he's not their Jedi and he's certainly not earned the Vode's love with how hateful he's been towards them).
And then he hears something new.
Something like armour plating scraping along the floor, and deep pants and wheezes. That is definitely not Krell. It's too loud. Too big. And it's coming towards the barracks where there are no weapons Hardcase can use to defend himself with.
For a moment he remembers Bellow and how he met his end. Devoured by an unrelenting beast. Wonders if that's what's about to happen to him. And then he sees what's coming in through the door, and there are no words he could ever say to express what he feels at that moment...
The 501st aren't far behind.
Domino Squad has tried everything in their power to slow them down. To talk sense into their captain and frightened kin. To explain themselves. But none of the others have stopped. They're far too scared and worried to not shoot first and ask questions later. Krell has ruined their trust.
Echo thinks he's about to see his twin shot down in cold blood. It's a nightmare that's plagued him over and over again: The GAR executing Fives for something that was never his fault. Or worse, the Kaminoans calling to have him sent back to Kamino where he'd be experimented on and dissected to see how this curse works.
Luckily there is nothing to fear.
Not when they find the Were-eel curled up protectively around Hardcase's cot. Battered, covered in saber burns, clearly in a bad way, and whining softly as the equally injured clone runs his fingers through the frightened beast's hair. Hardcase might be loud and enthusiastic about battle, but he's nothing if not compassionate and kind when he sees a brother in need. And that's what he saw coming into the barracks... Fives, altered in a way that is almost unspeakable, but still Fives. Wounded and in desperate need of comfort.
The Were-eel hears them all coming and looks up from where it's laying. It recognizes the Dominoes, but snarls when it sees the fully armoured clones. With their faces and scents covered it's hard to tell what they are, and there's just too much hostile fauna on this strange new environment that it doesn't want to take any chances. Especially when there's a very injured little eel brother in need of its protection.
Once again Hevy tells them all to remove their helmets. Practically begs them to at this point because he doesn't want anything else to go wrong. Hardcase seems to get what he's asking almost immediately. Asks everyone else to do as their little brother is telling them to do. Tells them that Fives is just scared and he doesn't need any more reasons to freak out right now.
Tup and Dogma comply first. They choose to trust Fives and Echo, despite still being unsure how to feel about all this. The moment more brothers show their faces, the Were-eel seems to calm a little. Everyone else follows by example. Once there are no helmeted clones the snarling stops completely and the Were-eel lays its head back down, tired and a little less afraid. Hardcase continues to comfort it.
Rex, who has every reason to just collapse and give up right now after everything that's happened, demands that someone give him a goddamn explanation for this.
Domino Squad doesn't need to be told twice. They tell everyone else about what happened on Rishi Moon Outpost while the medics tend to both Hardcase's and Fives's wounds. It's a rather long story and they have time before General Kenobi and Commander Cody meet up with them...

Catch me thinking about sith Anakin who got in a fight w/ Palps (did Palps cross a line? Did Anakin decide he had nothing to lose? Idk), barely managed to win and is now seriously hurting and a little freaked out winding up outside Obi-wan's quarters and Obi-wan doesn't have time to draw his saber let alone figure out how a sith lord managed to get so far into the jedi temple unnoticed and Force is that blood? before Anakin's passing out with only a murmered request for help.
LISTEN you can’t keep sending me perfect prompts, how do you know I can’t resist bloody men on their knees begging for salvation, how do you know me so well??? anyway here’s 2.3k of always-a-sith!Anakin who could have been the new ruler of the empire but said ‘no thanks, this is too much responsibility, I would like to be pampered by my favourite jedi now’ (with a bit of Ahsoka as Obi-Wan’s padawan!)
He didn’t mean to kill him.
Well, not at first.
He didn’t mean to kill Sidious, but pulling his lightsaber from his lifeless corpse only felt like complete satisfaction. A weight on his shoulders he didn't know he carried disappeared, letting him stand up above the body of his master— former master, and gaze upon what was left of him. A shapeless form on the ground. A dark cape around an old man playing at being a god. A begging mess of futile promises when he realised it was the end for him.
As mindless fury leaves him, his ragged breathing slows down and his fist unclenches around his saber. Sidious is dead. Now that the adrenaline rush is gone, his knees start shaking. His Master is dead. His face is wet with sweat and blood and tears. Dead and now Anakin has no one.
And then...  And then fear.
"You know," Ahsoka groans as the water starts boiling, "I don't understand how you got your reputation of Cool Jedi Master. Other padawans think I'm lying when I tell them you wear the ugliest slippers at home and gets excited by new tisanes."
"You gifted me those slippers."
"As a joke. And you still wear them."
"I'm not going to throw away perfectly good slippers." Obi-Wan wiggles his toes under the red and yellow fuzzy monstrosities, just to see his padawan rolls her eyes. "And they're really comfortable."
"So you're just going to stay there, then? Your whole battalion is out celebrating our first day of leave since forever, but you prefer to drink your tea alone and go to bed at 22:00?"
"No one wants an authority figure around when they're letting loose and celebrating, Ahsoka," Obi-Wan says, pouring hot water in his cup. He raises the kettle towards his padawan as a question, to which she shakes her head. "I thought you would be happy to see me putting sleep before work for once."
"I am, Master, but I thought it could be..." She trails off, fidgeting with the hilt of her sabers. For once, she looks like a typical padawan, just like he was at her age, dying to enjoy one night away from the temple and any kind of responsibilities.
"It's alright my dear," he sighs, "you can join them if you want."
Ahsoka suddenly perks up. "I can?"
"If you're old enough to be sent to the front, I think you can handle yourself for one night on Coruscant."
"Thank you Master! I promise I'll be careful and not come back too late!"
"You do that, and-- wait, Ahsoka," he adds as she's already halfway through the door, "make sure to stay around Cody! And no alcohol of any kind! And don't lose your lightsaber at sabacc again!"
"That was you!" she yells from the end of the corridor, "don't worry, I'll be fine! Don't wait for me to go to bed! Goodnight Master!"
Obi-Wan smiles, blowing on his cup. He already sent a message to Cody earlier to keep an eye on her, so he knows she's in good hands.
He has his herbal tea, his ugly slippers, no reports to read or write, and no immediate Separatist menace to plan for. For once, a perfectly good night to catch up on sleep and meditation.
So, of course, something has to be wrong.
The Force is bright. The Force is lighter than it has ever been for the past few years.
And Obi-Wan can't understand why.
It's not just him that can feel it: Ahsoka has acted chipper since, more like the teenager she is, laughing with the clones and playfully teasing him the whole fly back to Coruscant. The temple has felt livelier than ever when they arrived, Jedi from all ages going about their day with a new spring in their step, greeting each other warmly in the corridors. Even Master Yoda has taken a few minutes during their Council meeting to note the shift in the Force. No Master could pinpoint the origin of this change, but all agreed that something good happened somewhere in the galaxy, and they were just feeling ripples of the effect in the Force.
Still now, the whole temple feels a bit more like it used to, before the war, and all Jedi are a bit happier without knowing why.
Only Obi-Wan feels like a noose tightening around him. Whatever it is, it's slowing making its way around his presence in the Force. Focusing on him and him alone. Doesn't matter how much Obi-Wan tries to hide himself, it's getting closer and never slowing down or losing interest.
Needless to say, Obi-Wan has a bad feeling about this.
But after almost three years of war, sullen faces and grim expressions, he doesn't feel like dampening the sudden good mood around the Temple just with a few words. He can probably deal with whatever it is by himself.
His tisane is cold when he finally emerges from his meditation. Nothing is clearer than when he started: the Force is deaf to his questions and inquiries, still light as a breeze. An airy unconcern for his restlessness. And yet, a thick pressure still looms around him, getting heavier each passing second now.
His fingers start pulling on his collar.
The clock on the wall indicates that he lied to Ahsoka when he said he was going to bed at a respectable time today. No diurnal Jedi would still be up right now, but he still considers going out to knock at Mace's door. Narrowed eyes and a very long sigh will be his first answer, but Obi-Wan knows that Mace would never refuse to hear him out. Yes, he finally decides when the pressure seems to creep even closer to him, it's worth waking up Mace.
He opens his door, wondering if he should take his robe with him, and instantly stops walking.
There, in the empty corridor of the Jedi Temple, at his door and on his knees, is a Sith. He knows it's a Sith only because he recognises this specific mass of hair, the large shoulders, the dishevelled dark robe. He knows it's a Sith because he has crossed path with this one enough times on the battlefield to recognise him anywhere. Outside of it a few times too. He isn't sure it's a Sith when the Sith raises his head up, bloody and bruised face torn in an agonizing expression, and his eyes are blue.
"I— I didn't know where to go," Darth Vader says quietly, with the kind of voice expected from a lost child. It gives Obi-Wan a second shock to hear his voice, making his presence suddenly real. "You said... You said if I ever wanted to, if I needed help one day, you would— I could—"
Obi-Wan remembers it. He remembers all the times he offered his help. His pleas for him to stop the violence, the appeals to reason, the multiple suggestions of a gentler path. His hand continuously outreached but never taken. He remembers the burning gold of the Sith's eyes too, and his black cape floating above the dead clones at his feet.
His laughter the first time Obi-Wan brought up the idea of lowering their blades and talking around a cup of tea. His sneer the third time Obi-Wan tried to change his misconceptions about the Jedi Order and play-flirt with him in the same breath. The silence the fifth time Obi-Wan asked him his name, his real name, the one a parent gave him.
The tears the last time he gave it to him.
"And you're always trying to save me," Vader adds more forcefully now, like the words anger him, "you're always here, showing up almost every time I'm sent somewhere with your stupid smile and stupid words, and you're always nice, and... and teasing, and disappointed when I kill someone, like you expect me to be better, and I don't understand you, but..."
Vader raises his hand towards him, and it's only this sudden move that shakes Obi-Wan out of his stupor. Before the Sith can touch his leg, Obi-Wan calls his lightsaber to him, ignites it in one fluid motion, half-expecting Vader to be up and swaying his saber in his face by now. But the Sith is still on his knees, and it's only now that the blue light of his blade is above him that Obi-Wan realises the state he's in. His face isn't the only thing bruised and battered: his dark tunic is stained with blood and ripped in more than one place, one of his arms is bent in an unnatural way, and it looks like a cut above his hairline is still bleeding, making his curls stick to his face in a mess of wet hair and burned skin.
"Vader," Obi-Wan says slowly, when his thoughts finally regain a semblance of coherence. A rapid investigation through the Force assures him that no other enemy is around and the calm and quiet of the night in the Temple isn't a prequel for a storm. "How did you get in here? What are you doing here? How—"
Vader's hand, stuck in the space between them, reaches once again for Obi-Wan. Foolishly, Obi-Wan lets him. His fingers twist themselves in the fabric of his pants.
"He made me killed them all.” Vader wobbles on his knees for a second, the hand on Obi-Wan's leg gripping it tighter. “No platoons, no battle droids. Just me. He sent me to the power station and I cut through them so easily, so quickly, they didn't even fight back, and I didn't think that..." he trails off, panting. "Until.... until I saw the electro-whips."
"Are you talking about Naphtla?" he asks when Vader doesn't seem to be able to continue.
Naphtla. Outer Rim. Barely on the Republic radar until this afternoon, when nearby troops answered a distress signal and found a hidden Separatist power station operated by slaves. A third of them were dead, killed only a few hours before, and the survivors turned to the Republic for immediate support. Slaughtered like animals, the rescue team reported to the Council only a few hours ago, by one single man wielding a red lightsaber. According to witnesses, the darksider cut through the slaves like bantha butter, killing everyone in his path without discrimination, until he stopped for no apparent reason and abruptly left.
"You were the one who killed the people at the station there," Obi-Wan realises out loud, horrified, "the slaves from Zygerria."
Vader snaps his head up and his fingers tighten painfully around Obi-Wan's knee. "I DIDN'T KNOW!"
All Obi-Wan's senses and logical thoughts urge him to back out, put an end to this nonsensical charade, raise his lightsaber between them, get away from the dark, hungry void Vader generates in the Force.
But his eyes are looking up to him. Gripping his gaze with the same intensity as his hand on his leg. Bloodied face and pleading, on his knees. Full of tears.
Obi-Wan doesn't push Vader's hand away.
"I didn't know they were slaves, I didn't!"
"Vader."
"He never said! He sent me without telling him, he knows I don't—" A small noise sounding suspiciously like a sob swallows the rest of his words.
"Vader, who sent—"
"When I came back," he tries again, quieter. Obi-Wan opens his mouth to ask about this he, but Vader's head lolls for a second, too heavy to support, before butting gently against Obi-Wan's leg. Vader makes no effort to move, content to stay there, and after a second, a small, almost timid nuzzle against his thigh sends a series of shivers through Obi-Wan's spine. It shuts him up instantly. "When I came back, he looked at me for so, so long, before saying that he knew, he knew I was going to fail, that I was... just like them after all, and that I could never... And I was so mad, so angry at him, so I... I..."
The last words are muffled by the fabric Vader clings to. Hides into. There's blood on Obi-Wan's pants now.
"What have you done, Vader?" Obi-Wan asks, softer than he intended. "Vader," he asks again when no reply comes, without success. The hand not holding his lightsaber moves, hesitates for a moment, then settles lightly on Vader's hair, mindful not to touch any open wounds. His fingers nudge him to tip his head back, gently, carefully, and settle on his cheek to hold his face up, looking at him. "Anakin." His name, his true name, makes him blink a few times. "Anakin, what have you done?"
"I killed him," he finally admits, barely audible. He looks exhausted, more like a child in need of rest than ever.
"Who did you kill?"
"My master."
"Dooku? You killed Dooku?"
"No," Vader— Anakin frowns, like Obi-Wan should know better. "Sidious."
It's a bit much to process in one day. Another Sith Lord, Vader's master, concealed and kept a secret, now dead, killed by his apprentice —and does that make Vader the ruling Sith Lord now? Do Sith have rulers?— the lightness in the Force the same day, a half-dead Vader begging for help in the middle of the night in the Jedi Temple, and all of that while Obi-Wan is still wearing his ugly slippers.
He's so glad he sent Ahsoka away for the night.
Anakin doesn't let him time to feel the migraine coming.
"I can't do it, I can't be my master, I can't— and Dooku hates me, he will never help me, even if I let him have it all, he will never..." Vader seems to run out of steam, and lets his eyes close as his head falls once again against Obi-Wan's thigh. Closer. "You said you could help me. You said I could come to you at any time. You said you would always be there if I didn't want to... do this, anymore."
"I did," Obi-Wan assures him, his hand lightly petting his hair again.
Anakin lets out a long breath. His fingers tighten on the fabric of Obi-Wan's pants, loosen, and tighten again.
"You're the only one I trust," the Sith quietly tells the Jedi, and it's the saddest thing Obi-Wan has ever heard.

Prompt: NMJ gets caught in a time loop that makes him repeatedly relive the day Meng Yao leaves for Langya, until he realizes that it's a bad idea and stops him from going?
Time Loop - ao3
Nie Mingjue opened his eyes in the morning and sat up with a yawn, mind already racing ahead to his tasks for the day: getting in some morning saber practice, working on a giant pile of sect business and even more giant pile of work related to the war, making time to write a letter scolding Nie Huaisang (for what, yet to be determined, but inevitable – if he didn’t, Nie Huaisang would complain of neglect), trying to find a replacement deputy (or seven) to do the work Meng Yao did now that he’d headed off to the Jin sect…
There was a lot to do, and even less time to do it in – and moping about it would only make it build up even more. Nie Mingjue sighed and swung his legs to the side, intending to get up and get started right away.
He stopped as soon as he saw the calendar on his desk.
It was the wrong date.
Now, there were two possible reasons for this. The first was, of course, that he’d simply forgotten to mark the day as completed on his calendar yesterday evening, even though that was generally the very last thing he did before bed and longstanding habit had trained him to have trouble falling asleep if he didn’t do it.
They said forgetfulness was one of the first signs of mental decline.
Easy enough to check, though.
He got up and walked to the tent door, cracking it open. “Hey, you,” Nie Mingjue said to one of the guards going by on patrol. “Where’s Meng Yao?”
“I believe at this hour, Viceroy Meng would be checking over the supplies,” the guard said. “Would you like me to call him?”
“Mm,” Nie Mingjue said, because that wasn’t definitive; the guard didn’t know for certain, and he might just be making an assumption based on past precedent. “What about Lan Xichen?”
“Sect Leader Lan hasn’t yet arrived – I believe he’s due in for later today, closer to noon. Did you want –”
“No, I don’t want anything,” Nie Mingjue said, deeply relieved to have identified that he had not, in fact, forgotten to fill out his calendar. “I’m stuck in a time loop.”
“…ah,” the guard said, looking taken aback – he must be new to Qinghe, like many of the cultivators in the army. Like Meng Yao, for that matter. “Is that…bad?”
“No, it’s fantastic. I’m going back to sleep. No one is to bother me all day.”
“But – Sect Leader Lan –”
“Meng Yao can host him,” Nie Mingjue decided. He’d write out Meng Yao’s recommendation letter, put a big red mark on the calendar right now just to make sure he didn’t forget, and go back to sleep for the entire day like he hadn’t done in what must be literal years. “Like I said: don’t bother me.”
-
Nie Mingjue opened his eyes in the morning and sat up with a yawn. He looked at his calendar.
No big red mark.
“Fantastic,” he said, and went back to bed.
-
He slept for four days.
-
“Sect Leader Nie?” Meng Yao said, poking his head in. “Sect Leader Lan is – I’m sorry, are you painting?”
“I haven’t had time for it in ages,” Nie Mingjue said, scowling at the paper. “You know, I thought he was just trying to get out of practice, but actually Huaisang’s right. It really does require quite a lot of dexterity.”
Meng Yao opened his mouth, then closed it again.
After a few more moments, he asked, voice very cautious, “Are you painting a battlefield map?”
Nie Mingjue stopped, appalled. “Is that what it looks like?” he asked. “I was trying for a beaver. You know, the small furry swimming mammal from Xinjiang.”
“No, it looks like a beaver,” Meng Yao said, though now Nie Mingjue wasn’t sure if he believed him or not. “I just thought it might be some sort of – code. Maybe.”
Nie Mingjue conceded that this made sense, given what he was normally like. “No, no code,” he said. “Just a beaver. Thought it’d make for a funny fan painting to give to Huaisang.”
“I see,” Meng Yao said, and seemed to struggle internally for a moment.
“Is this about Xichen’s visit?” Nie Mingjue asked. “You can just show him around yourself if you like. I’ll see him tomorrow, should it ever come.”
“…right,” Meng Yao said. “I’ll – do that.”
“If you want a recommendation to leave to join the Jin sect, you can pick it up on the desk on your way out,” Nie Mingjue said, already turning back to his painting. “Have fun, good luck, kill Wen-dogs. The usual.”
Meng Yao didn’t say anything, just bowed. His expression was very strange.
-
Turned out that painting was a lot harder to accomplish when your supposed ‘friends’ kept trying to spring unwanted and unnecessary medical interventions on you.
Ugh.
-
Actually, that Song of Clarity shit from round 13 seemed really helpful? He’d have to look more into that.
-
Apparently, reading novels was even more concerning than painting.
What, like he wasn’t allowed to have hobbies? What else were time loops for if not to catch a break, damnit?
-
“Oh all right,” Nie Mingjue said, holding up his hands in surrender. “I’ll fix the time loop.”
“You’d better,” Nie Huaisang said, rubbing his eyes and yawning. “What in the world did you do to freak them out at the crack of dawn such that they flew all the way to get me and back before it reset?”
“Uh,” Nie Mingjue said. “Nothing.”
“Did it involve sex?”
“Did you forget that they’d reset when you woke up?”
“Just fix the damn time loop, da-ge.”
“That sounds like someone who is not getting a beaver fan.”
“…beaver? Fan? For me? Wait, did you paint it? Da-ge! I want it! No, don’t go to sleep, I want to keep -”
-
“Please sit down,” Nie Mingjue said to Lan Xichen and Meng Yao. “I’m going to need your help on a strategic question of great importance.”
“Anything we can do to help, of course,” Lan Xichen said, and Meng Yao nodded.
“I’m always at your service, Sect Leader,” he said.
“Good,” Nie Mingjue said. “Now – what do you know about time loops?”
-
It took about five days, but he finally managed to figure out how to word the explanation so that it only took as long as a cup of tea to explain and got them to believe him without immediately deciding that he was insane. At that point, they were able to finally start seriously brainstorming solutions.
“We just need to figure out what it is that went wrong and fix it?” Meng Yao asked, sounding dubious. “What is considered ‘wrong’ in this context?”
“Things resulting in massive amounts of death, usually? Sometimes your own.” Nie Mingjue shrugged. “It’s a matter of fate, a natural opportunity to avert disaster; you only encounter one when you’re very lucky. Otherwise do you think my father would’ve died the way he did?”
“…an excellent point,” Lan Xichen said, grimacing. “Very well, let’s make a list of all the things you did, play out the possible consequences to see which ones could potentially result in disaster, and then you can try to change them one at a time.”
“Worth a shot,” Nie Mingjue said.
-
“Good morning, Sect Leader,” Meng Yao said, saluting. “What do you need me for this early? Sect Leader Lan has not yet arrived.”
“I need to talk to you about your future,” Nie Mingjue said. “And what you hope to get out of it.”
Meng Yao straightened his back and blinked owlishly, looking wary. “What do you mean, Sect Leader?”
“You want to go rejoin the Jin sect, don’t you? To earn a position with your father?”
Meng Yao blanched. “Sect Leader –”
“It’s a perfectly reasonable ambition to have,” Nie Mingjue assured him. “Unfortunately, I don’t think a letter of recommendation from me will cut it. I’m too young, and one of his rivals; Jin Guangshan doesn’t give me face – and what will you do if he sidelines you and puts you under someone awful to suppress all your achievements? Wouldn’t it be as good as throwing away your life, ruining your best chance for success?”
Meng Yao frowned. Nie Mingjue was pleased to see it was having an impact: he’d consulted Meng Yao the day before on precisely what wording to use, since his own versions were having no luck.
“I have no objection to your ultimate goal,” Nie Mingjue said. “But we’re going to need to be a bit more clever about it. When Xichen gets here, we’ll put our heads together and think about what we can do to make it impossible for your father to reject you. How does that sound?”
Meng Yao swallowed. “Thank you, Sect Leader,” he said, his voice low and sounding, if anything, a little touched. “I – appreciate it.”
“Good,” Nie Mingjue said, and put a red mark on his calendar. “Also, there’s another issue to discuss involving yourself and Xichen –”
-
Nie Mingjue opened his eyes in the morning and sat up with a yawn. He looked at his calendar.
There was a big red mark.
“Oh good,” he said, and turned around and laid back down.
“What’s good?” Lan Xichen muttered into his collarbone. “Mmm, A-Jue, no, don’t lie down. It’s time to get up.”
“It is not,” Meng Yao said from the other side. “It’s time to sleep in.”
“Listen to Meng Yao,” Nie Mingjue said, settling his arms around him. “The world can wait a little more.”
“It really can’t, though,” Meng Yao said with a sigh, rubbing his eyes and starting to sit up, which was obviously the wrong move. “We’re in the middle of a war, and we all have important things to do today.”
“That’s true,” Nie Mingjue said, a little reluctantly. “I owe Huaisang a beaver.”
Meng Yao blinked.
Lan Xichen blinked.

DinLuke Flower/Tattoo Shop AU
Luke never thought he’d be the owner of a flower shop. He always thought he’d follow one of his many family members footsteps.
He practically grew up in his father’s robotics company, he’d done a summer internship for his Senator mother, earned several belts at his Uncle Ben’s martial arts studio, did a very intensive year at his Aunt Beru’s farm, and even volunteered as an assistant teacher at the school his grandfather Yoda was principle of.
While Leia seemed happy enough to follow their mother’s footsteps Luke never fully clicked with anything he tried and ultimately decided that he wanted to pursue something that didn’t have anything to do with his extended family
Luke finds the flower shop when wondering around a small plaza looking for a Mother’s Day gift; somewhere in the conversation he has with the owner of the shop he gets offered a job and because he’s not doing anything else at the moment he agrees
Luke ends up really liking it, more than he ever thought he would and before he knows it a few years have gone by the owner of the shop is retiring and signing the shop over to Luke
Luke loves the little shopping plaza where his store is located; there’s a nice antiques shop, a fun crafts store, an art studio that hosts different classes, and the main cornerstone of the center is the café owned by his Aunt Ashoka
One day, Luke is a little bored as it’s been a slow day at his shop and is contemplating whether he wants to get a head start on his resupply forms or put it off by visiting his Aunt Ashoka’s café when he hears the little chime above his door go off
a small child, probably around 5 years old by Luke’s guess, walks into the shop and walks around smelling all the flowers that are at his height; Luke waits a little bit for the kid’s parent to come in but no one else enters the shop and a look out the wide display window doesn’t show any parent frantically looking for a missing kid
Luke approaches the child asking if he can help him, the Child turns immediately and signs a greeting at him (Luke is glad that he learned how to sign from his grandfather Yoda who was HOH); before Luke can really question anything the kid points to one of the flowers buckets hanging higher than he can reach
Luke grabs one of the blooms, a simply little daisy, and hands it to the child which gets him the widest smile he thinks he’s ever seen on someone so small; the kid digs into his pocket with one hand and pulls out a few crumpled dollar bills which he hands over to Luke; Luke feels his heart melt because that is too freaking precious
Luke tries to give the flower to the kid for free, it’s just a single bloom of a very common and popular flower, but the kid is very insistent on paying, so he carefully makes change for the little boy then watches as the kid walks out of the shop and across the plaza to the shop opposite of Luke’s
the shop that’s been empty for a few years; Luke heard it had been bought a couple months ago and had been vaguely aware of the workers going in and out as it was renovated. As he looks now, Luke see’s that there’s a fresh sign that labels the place as Dark Saber Tattoo & Piercing
the kid walks right in and goes up to the one man in the shop; he’s dressed in motorcycle leathers and still wearing his helmet and hands the guy the flower
Luke watches through the large display window as the guy walks further back into the shop only to return a moment later with a tall glass of water, he crouches to let the kid place the flower in the glass then places the whole thing on the corner of the large desk Luke assumes will be where the customer will pay
Luke realizes that he’s staring like a creep and quickly goes back to his own business making a mental note to greet the new shop owner later expecting that will be his only experience with the kid
he is wrong
it quickly becomes a routine that the kid, who Luke eventually learns is named Grogu, comes in pretty much everyday around the same time to purchase a single flower which he then carries over to the tattoo parlor to add to the little glass on the desk
After a few weeks of this, Luke looks up to see Grogu dragging the leather clad man across the plaza and into the shop; this is how Luke finally meets the Tattoo shop owner and Grogu’s dad Din Djarin
Luke may or may not immediately fall in love with the man after watching him interact with his kid as Grogu pulls him all around the shop showing off his favorite flowers
It takes a couple months of them dancing around each other; creating a friendship and being teased mercilessly by their friends before Din (to everyone’s surprise) makes the first move and asks Luke out for a drink
Grogu is very happy when he gets to help pick out the flowers for his Dad and Luke’s wedding
BONUS HC’S
Din used to be a bounty hunter following in the steps of his adoptive parents
Din came across baby Grogu during one of his jobs and ended up taking care of him for a few days while he tried to find his bounty, he quickly got attached to the child and decided to adopt him (he may have used some of his connections to help speed up the process)
Din knows the kind of anxiety that comes with a parent being a bounty hunter and doesn’t want to put Grogu through that so decides to give that up; he’d done a couple odd jobs between bounties and one that he really enjoyed was his small stint as a tattoo artist so after a few drinks and some encouraging words from his friends opens up his own parlor
He convinces Greef to come in and handle all the actual business stuff like getting approved for loans, the renovation, and all the different licenses
Din taps his friends to fill out the shop
Cara Dune who got tired of the police business agrees to be the shop’s piercer
Cobb Vanth joins as another tattoo artist; Din has a small jealous episode when he learns that Cobb and Luke know each other, Aunt Beru’s farm is located outside the small town where Cobb grew up
He calms down once its clear that the two were just friendly acquaintances and nothing more
Boba Fett is a semi-retired tattoo artist, he closed his own shop across town a few years ago, but he’ll come in pretty much whenever Din (or Cobb) asks
No one knows what Fennec does. Is she a bounty hunter? a government agent? an assassin? The only thing anyone’s been able to gather is that Din came across her during his bounty hunter days (which considering that’s how he’s met all his friends doesn’t actually say anything), Boba saved her life once, she’s like overly competent at everything, and everyone is scared of her
Grogu can hear but he isn’t a big talker, so Din has been teaching him sign language to help him communicate with others and all of his friends have picked it up as well to help Grogu feel more comfortable

Boba tossed in bed trying to get comfortable but after the fourth time rolling over he gave up not wanting to keep Din awake as well. He sighed as his feet touched the cool sandstone floor and he started to creep out of the room, silent as a ghost, only to notice that the dark saber wasn't with Din's armor and weapons on the table near his side of the bed. It was laying in the middle of the floor. Rolling his eyes at how careless Din was with the weapon he reached to grab it. Just because Din didn't want it didn't mean he should leave it where Boba could trip over it and break his neck. He had survived the Sarlacc he wasn't going to die because of his boyfriend's messy habits.
The moment his hand met the handle there was a loud chime and flash of light. ~Mand'alor! Master! Beloved Mand'alor! Mine!~ echoed voices assaulted Boba's senses and he dropped the thing immediately.
"Boba?" A familiar voice called from behind him and Boba stumbled back at the sight of a blue translucent version of his father standing in the corner of the room.
"I'm dreaming. This is a dream. Or I'm dead. Kriff did the thing activate and kill me?! I knew some sort of jedi shit was going to take me one day." He murmured to himself, eyes locked onto Jango but also taking in movement from the bed as Din slid from it to Boba's side.
"Boba? Are you okay?" Din asked softly and Boba reached out for him.
"Can you see that?" Boba asked gesruring where Jango was now crossing his arms but seeming to be waiting patiently for Boba to finish his freak out.
"Yeah. I've been seeing him for a while. That's Mand'alor Fett. Luke said it's a force thing. They're connected to the Darksaber... but only the Mand'alor should be able to see them. Jetti oisk. I didn't know you could." Din said picking the weapon up off the floor as Boba tried to even out his breathing.
"I... That's my Buir Din." He pointed out and Din looked between the ghost and Boba.
"I thought you might be related but it felt rude to ask." Din finally admitted earning a chuckle from Jango and a eye roll from his lover.
"Boba... What in the entire Manda did you do to yourself?!" Jango finally asked and Boba felt his anger spike inside him.
"Says the guy who got beheaded by a jedi. At least I'm alive." He snarked at his father turning away and letting Din help him up trying not to show how much this was effecting him.
"I never meant to leave you Boba. I-"
"But you did! You died and I had no one. You left me with nothing but your armor and your ship and all the hurt and betrayal you felt after Galidraan all pointed at one person. I went to prison at 11 years old! Kriff, even the clones had the jedi or each other. You left me! And for what? Killing Windu wouldn't have done shit! I know because he's dead and I'm still as kriffed up as before he died." He rounded on the ghost with anger that almost burned physically through his body. But it drained just as fast. Yelling at the ghost wasn't going to bring him back or change anything either.
"I know. I'm sorry Boba." Jango said reaching out but his hand passed though Boba instead of settling on his shoulder like it was meant to and Boba bit back a sob that broke free when Din's arms wrapped around him and soon Boba was sobbing decades of pent up pain into Din's shoulder.
"It's okay. Let it out. You're not alone anymore Boba. You've been found. You're found now." Din murmured softly as he rubbed Boba's back.
"Din... Your sword is haunted." Boba finally sniffed out and Din laughed resting his cheek on Boba's head.
"Yeah it is. The ghost is a bit of a di'kut though so I think I'll be okay." He replied earning a laugh in reply and a yelp from Jango.
"Yeah, I think we'll be okay." Boba agreed letting Din settle him back under the covers. He was definitely tired now. They could figure this all out more in the morning when he was better rested.

Loving Freedom (post-”Miraculous New York”)
Marinette sat on the couch and wrung her hands together, heart pounding in her chest as she watched Luka pace back and forth in front of her. Normally, she'd find the lighting of the Liberty's lounge room to be calming, but it wasn't doing anything for her anxiety at the moment.
She'd spilled everything about New York to Luka, excluding anything Ladybug-related. She felt guilty, obviously, which was partly why she told him, but there was also something about Luka that made her want to tell him anything that came to her head.
But, he hadn't responded yet, and her nerves were rising with every passing second. She was certain that he must be mad at her - why wouldn't he be? - but the unreadable expression on his face left her even more unsure at exactly how mad he was going to be.
Her gaze lowered to the ground, one hand moving to clutch the opposite arm. What if her actions were unforgivable? What if he hated her? What if he never wanted to see her again? Even beyond anything romantic she felt for him, he was also a great friend and more understanding than anyone else she knew, so how terrible must she be to turn away the kindest soul in Paris? What was she supposed to do without him?
She shook, her nails digging into her skin in an attempt to mask her emotional struggles with physical pain. She let out a soft whimper, her vision just barely registered Luka stopping out of the corner of her gaze.
"M-marinette," Luka's voice called out as he made his way to her. "I'm sorry, I got lost in my own head. It was a lot to listen to all at once."
She shut her eyes tight, curling in on herself more. "Y-you don't have anything to apologize for!" Voice was hushed despite the stress in her tone, she added, "It was all my fault! You should be furious with me!"
"I'm not," he said. Judging by the slight shift in where she heard his voice coming from, she guessed that he was leaning in to get a better look at her face. "Not at you, at least. Why would I be?"
"Because I freaked out around Adrien again!" she reminded him, covering her face with her free hand. "I was always near him and the thoughts wouldn't stop and—"
"—And I know it's not your fault," Luka interjected. She felt his hand attempt to pry her own away from gripping her arm, so she let him, even if she didn't feel like she deserved to have her hand held by him. He continued, asking, "Can I tell you what I heard in everything you told me?"
She didn't fully understand, but answered anyway, "I-I guess?"
He gave her hand a gentle squeeze. "I heard a lot of pressure; a lot of other people telling you what to do, or how to feel, or setting things up that you never agreed to. I heard you trying your best not to think about how you felt because you didn't want it."
"I-I still danced with him," she told him weakly.
"When he pulled you in without you answering? When you were flying up in the air with only the two of you there and no idea how to get down? When Alya set you up to dance with him by playing that song?" he pointed out.
"I—" She hesitated, letting out a noncommittal whine from her throat. She wasn't quite ready to leave her state of self-loathing. "But I chased after him."
"After being yelled at. After you'd already been through more than enough. After you—" He stopped suddenly, a low sigh of frustration leaving him. "—after you came back in the rain after an akuma attack!"
The force in his tone shocked her to the point of uncovering her face to see how upset he was. "L-luka?"
"Out of all the things they could've worried about," he murmured, looking away at the wall, "it was getting you to confess, when they set you up to be in that room that the supervillain ended up being in, and they didn't even apologize for it."
"T-that was a set-up?" she asked in surprise, having honestly thought that Alya wanted her to get pictures of the saber.
Luka glanced back at her, the anger in his expression fading into sympathy. He looked down at their joined hands, then let go and stood up. Gesturing to the seat next to her, he waited until she nodded at him to sit down there. Permission given, he leaned against the couch and stared ahead at nothing.
She looked at his face warily. "You're... really not upset with me?"
"I'm upset at the situation," he replied. "You can be friends with Adrien and still want him to go to New York, or still want him to stay with you, but no one was worried about what mattered and kept playing a song you didn't want to hear."
She stared down at her lap. "I...I mean, I was crazy around Adrien. They—"
"Marinette."
She stiffened at him grabbing her shoulder, but didn't turn to face him.
"Please, don't blame yourself for this. You're working on it and you're trying your best. No one has any right to judge you or make fun of you and then wonder why you're not moving at their pace."
"Bu—" She trailed off, any argument dying before it could make it past her lips. It was almost strange, hearing someone tell her that things were okay and how she felt was okay so long as she was making an effort, but the implication of how jarring it was for her was something she didn't want to think about right then.
Luka's hand rose up from her shoulder, and Marinette was surprised when the back of his index finger touched her cheek. She turned to him, Luka's concern showing blatantly on his face as his eyes darted over every centimeter of visible skin. His hand found hers again and she couldn't help blushing at his caresses.
"Ah—"
"Are you alright?" he asked gently.
His voice almost didn't register with her right away. "H-huh?"
"You were walking in the rain," he recited from what she'd told him before, "and then you fell off a bike onto the street. Do you have a fever? Did you get hurt?"
Emotions built up in her chest at the questions she hadn't thought she needed to be asked. Her gaze softened, eyes watery at the care she was being given.
Luka's eyes widened. He seemed to catch himself, slowly withdrawing his hand. "Sorry, I just—"
"No!" Marinette cut in, reacting quickly to the movement. She reached out, grabbing his hand with both of hers.
He ceased pulling away, but looked to her for further instruction.
She blushed, sheepishly bringing his hand back towards her face. "It's okay. I'm okay. I-I love this," she told him. Guiding his hand until his palm was resting on her cheek, she sighed blissfully. "I love how easy you make everything, Luka."
He smiled at her, slowly stroking her face with his thumb. "I wish it could be like that for you all the time." He hesitated, but added anyway, "I wish I could've been there for you in New York."
She released her hands from his, content when he kept it against her cheek. Looking at him with a small, lopsided smile, she joked, "So you could walk in the rain with me and get soaked while there's an akuma running around?"
He tilted his head to the side, vaguely amused as he suggested, "Yeah. Maybe I would've been able to catch up to that car on a bike, like I did with that bus?"
They giggled in harmony, the sound filling the room a lot more nicely than all her anxiety did. She felt her cheeks heat up, but rather in happiness than embarrassment, and she hoped that he could feel it.
"Thanks, Luka," she said softly. "I wish you could've been there too. I-I mean, not for the akuma destroying New York part, obviously, and that disaster that was the plane ride, and all those moments where I got stuck with Adrien somehow and it must've been painful to watch, and—"
He cut her off with another chuckle. "I know, Marinette." He raised his other hand in offering, and she wordlessly gave him permission to place it on her other cheek. "I'm sorry too, by the way."
Her brows rose. "Sorry?" She gingerly held onto his wrists. "For what?"
"I feel like a little of this is my fault." Before she could even argue, he continued, "I wanted you to get clarity, but I didn't think about your friends, or you and Adrien being forced together. I wanted you to feel out how you felt at your tempo, whether that meant getting close to Adrien or not, but you weren't ready for what that trip threw at you. You asked for help - you wanted off the plane - and you didn't get it. That was never what I wanted."
She paused to absorb the words, looking down and lightly playing with the bracelets on his wrist. "Y-you couldn't have predicted any of that though."
He shrugged. "I've learned that I can't predict what'll happen with you." With a fond smile, he added, "Especially how I end up feeling about you."
"L-luka," she chided with a squeak, only earning a bigger smile out of him. She turned her face towards one of his hands to hide herself, mumbling, "I should've just told them we were dating."
"You shouldn't have to," he retorted. "Besides, we're not official."
"I know," she huffed, immediately hearing him chuckle at how disappointed she sounded. Still, she couldn't help frowning. "I just... I hate feeling like this—about Adrien, I mean. I-I want it to stop. Everyone else makes fun of me for it and it's miserable."
"We'll get through it." He caressed her cheek with the hand she wasn't burying her face into. "I promise."
"Really?" She looked up at him with hope in her eyes, her hands falling to her lap. "You think so?"
He dropped both of his hands to her shoulders, giving her a firm nod. "Yeah. It won't last forever, Marinette. It's a bad song stuck in your head, and it doesn't have to stay there if you don't want it to."
"I-I don't!" she confirmed, almost eagerly. She had no idea how much she needed to hear someone validate her views on her Adrien crush. "And... you're the good song. You know that too, right?"
He looked briefly surprised, then smiled. "Yeah. That's why I can be happy right now."
She couldn't help herself. She leaned forward and hugged him, his hands that were previously on her shoulders moving to hug her back.
"You're the best," she murmured into his chest. "You're so patient with me, no matter how much I rely on you."
"Because it's what I want to do," he replied with a shrug, "and I should be thanking you."
She peeked up at him, perplexed. "For what?"
"For wanting to get closer to me and giving us a try. For giving me a chance."
She chuckled at that and imagined that he'd have no idea why.
"...And for letting me be selfish."
"Wh—" She pulled away to look fully at his face, gaping at him. "You? Selfish?"
He nodded. "Can I tell you something, Marinette?"
She nodded in return, wanting to know what he meant. "Anything."
He smiled gratefully. "I know I look like I know what I'm doing, but even I don't know how to handle what you're going through; I never had someone before you and Jule was lucky enough to get Rose on her first try. I really thought you just had a crush on Adrien and it was unrequited, and that was why you were hurting so much." He glanced off at the wall. "Then there was the time where Jagged Stone showed up at the Liberty to fight with my mom, and I saw how everyone reacted to you."
Marinette blushed in embarrassment, burying her face into her hands. "Don't remind me."
"I didn't mind," he consoled, "but... it did give me an idea of what was happening."
She peeked at him through her fingers. "Yeah?"
"I was really glad when you said you wanted to hear me play," he continued, referring to the time when everyone had gotten together to eat ice cream. "That's when I knew you were interested in me, and that it was different than it was with Adrien. You deserve to move on and feel loved, Marinette, and if that means we have to go on a few dates so you can hear how a good song plays, that's just what we'll have to do."
She mulled that over, having never thought of it that way. They'd had a mutual agreement to date without technically being "a couple," but she'd presumed that he was just doing it for her and she was the selfish one. While he knew what was wrong with her feelings for Adrien and was doing what seemed right - being a Couffaine, he'd never particularly cared about what was "expected" - he also had a crush on her and wanted to be in a relationship with her for both of them. After all, if she'd been in "real love" with Adrien, then Luka never would've been able to hold a place in her heart, and she wouldn't have felt so unsure by the time the trip to New York had ended even with all the time she had to think about it. Luka knew that, getting her in a way that Adrien could never seem to and being the only one willing to see past her anxiety and believe in her wants.
It was strangely comforting, actually, to know that he wanted to be mutually selfish with her.
Smiling, half to herself and half to him, she lightly pushed against his chest. "You sound really torn up about going on dates with me."
He snorted. "It's terrible. I don't know what I'm going to do with myself."
They laughed together, Marinette falling back against his chest in relief that the situation was sorted out. Luka wrapped his arms around her in response, hugging her tight while she enjoyed his warmth. The laughter eventually lowered to giggles, then to calm silence as they remained cuddled against one another, thankful that there were no interruptions or people coming in to break up the moment.
"...Luka?" Marinette called quietly, not wanting to disturb the atmosphere.
"Mm?"
"Can I take you out on a date tomorrow? Nowhere in particular, just... out."
His smile was warm. "I'd love that."
She glanced up at him, then reached up to touch his face, feeling loved just by the way he leaned into her palm. Lowering her voice further, she whispered, "Someday, I want to kiss you for real, when there's no Adrien obsession to worry about and everyone will finally stop talking about it."
"You're getting there," he replied just as softly, "and I want to see the looks on everyone's face when that last picture is down and they realize that they were too busy making fun of you to notice that you moved on."
"And that'll be your next song?" she asked. "Our duet?"
He pulled her closer, giving her a calm nuzzle. "Yeah. I might need your help with that one."
She hummed in agreement, making it clear that she didn't mind at all as she cherished his embrace. It was moments like these where her mind was clearer; where she understood what the difference was between how she felt about Adrien versus how she felt about Luka. She had to chase Adrien, whereas Luka was always by her side. He was her light in the darkness, showing her the way out when no one else was willing to guide her.
And the day she was out completely, he'd be the first to know.

rare tsuki-sennin double recap
Saber Special Episode
-Not even being from another franchise can stop the reach of the ever-expanding Tojitendo, apparently. I'm sure Bokkowaus and Gege have a massive target on them.
-I love the Tanabata reenactment. I appreciate the crossdressing angle, it's fun and it's a great callback to the Tom Sawyer and Momotaro scenes.
-Zox overstepping those interdimensional boundaries again. He really is a Marvelous fanboy.
-It seems Twokaizer brought his absurdist humor with him. Not much to add, it's just really funny.
-Toei, Bandai, you absolute cowards, give Kento a new form already! It's Yua all over again. I swear to god, Revice's third Rider is gonna have like... one form and barely fight all that much, maximum. I'll gladly wait until the Espada V-Cinema! Hell, it can just be Espada x Necrom, just give him something!
-The design of Orihime Warudo is pretty good. Zenkaiger's monster designs in general have been generally scoring pretty highly, but nothing's topped the perfection that is Jishaku Warudo yet. I think this imagining of Orihime being so bitter that they'd make random couples fight and break up is also really freaking funny.
-Oh Reika, how the mighty have fallen. Kanon is in need of some company, I guess. I hope the fanfic writers like you enough to give you what you deserve. And I hope that Onii-sama develops a personality quick, we have like... one episode left.
-So, I assume that Storious is either busy having a dentist appointment or auditioning for the movie? I'm guessing it takes place a bit earlier in the plot, probably around Ep. 40, and I know these specials have loose continuity anyway, but it's so weird going from losing Desast to YOHOHOI to THE WORLD IS GONNA DIE, FUCK YOU SWORDSMEN!
--
Zenkaiger Special Episode
-Y'know, I kinda understand why Orihime Warudo was acting so bitter, Hikoboshi Warudo's a real dick. Chasing women when his beloved neighbor's out of season on behalf of the Tojitendo. He's not even doing his job right, the pig. Apparently he also chose not to take away the Noroshi and Konchuu Daihyakka Book? Yeah, no wonder Ijirude's so mad at him.
-Y'know, if Kaito and Magine really wanted to celebrate Tanabata twice in the same summer, they could wait a few weeks and make a three hour drive to Sendai on August 8th, which I hear is when they celebrate it. August 14th seems to be a little too long a wait.
-Oh Secchan, you're annoying and adorable~! I can't stay mad at your exposition for too long~! I understand why Bokkowaus dotes on Gege so much~!
-I guess Stacey's currently hanging out with Storious and the rest of the Northern Base Riders in the Not-Immediately-Marketable-Zone. Poor kid, at least give him a candy bar.
-Super Twokaizer looks way too freakin' cool. Good on Flint, she's a fun and interesting gal of fine aesthetical taste and exceptional engineering talent.
-The Kamen Rider Gears are interesting. Definitely not canon, but they're a fun little addition.
-Meanwhile Reika and Ryoga continue the Shindai family tradition of looking cool and displaying identifiable personality only when it's irrelevant to Saber. Goddammit Fukuda, I wanted to like you so much... Ah well, at least their fights were cool. ...well, Ryoga's anyway, Reika kinda got unfairly shafted this episode. Again. In a different series, no less. Good GOD, guys, why do you hate your extra Riders so much? ...her hugging Magine was nice though, that was cute. Ryoga also rocked that dress, ngl.
Looking forward to when I finally get to watch Super Hero Senki. Asmodeus looks sick, btw.
If I see any jokes about the premise of Episode 22, I'm going to shit a house.

White Knight - Pay & Play to Win (Fate Grand Order edition)
Weiss had often wondered what made Ruby waste so much of her time on her scroll and when she had asked the question one day, her leader had simply shown her.
Fate Grand Order.
That was the title of the mobile game Ruby was sinking at least a couple of hours a week. Time which she could have spent improving her grades and becoming a better leader. The young girl was the face of team RWBY, after all, and Weiss would not settle for less than the very best.
That said, she did not have any particular complaints about her progress over the months, but she disagreed with all the time she was wasting pointlessly on a silly game.
A fact which she voiced without any restraint and which incurred another childish (in Weiss' opinion) argument between the two girls.
Ruby: "It's not childish! It's based on the greatest heroes from Earth's history, their stories and it has many life lessons. Plus, it's fun."
Weiss simply shook her head at the absurdity of her argument. She found it hard to believe that some fictional characters and their half thought out stories could ensnare people into playing that game for hours.
Ruby: "Why don't you give it a try first before you say it's childish? I bet you'll change your mind."
Another absurdity uttered by her partner, but, against her better judgement, Weiss, decided to give the game a try. If nothing else, but to prove Ruby wrong.
After an entire week and a lot of wear to her scroll's battery, Weiss would have an epiphany and would, begrudgingly, agree with Ruby. This game was fun.
From the intriguing story, the likes of which Weiss had never seen or read to the beautiful art of the characters, the heiress could say she was hooked. She continued to play regularly, enjoying the experience as she continued to make progress through the story.
Weiss had not reached the point where she would spend money to get certain characters like she had heard from Ruby that some players did. That was until she saw him and she literally fell in love.
After spending a substantial portion of her allowance to get him when he was in the gacha, her joy could be heard across campus as she literally screamed like a fangirl when he answered her summons.
Her object of adoration? The servant Saber, King Arthur. He was everything she dreamed about. From his kind, loyal and slightly playful attitude to his charming, soft looks which made her blush every time he'd give a smile when she would level him up.
These were all traits that she had voiced quite often to her team, which was present in the room on the day the Weiss alarm rang for the first time. Weiss talked so casually about the game these days that it showed just how much she was sucked into this world.
One Saturday, as Weiss was farming like mad for materials to make her prince perfect, Ruby said something that changed her perception on life.
Ruby: "Hey, Weiss. Don't you think that Arthur is kind of like Jaune?" The girl commented as she busied herself leveling up a well known red Archer.
The innocent remark was met with the heiress looking up from the device abruptly, ready to refute the claim and defend the knight. However, Weiss stopped short to consider her words for a few moments. Moments which turned into seconds which then turned into minutes. Her eyes widened as if she reached a revelation.
Ruby... was right!
Abruptly, she jumped on her feet and walked out of the room with hurried steps. The rest of team RWBY heard her knock on JNPR's door. It opened moments later.
From the other side, Jaune had answered with a bit of apprehension. It wasn't often that someone would knock so loudly on his team's dorm room, except for Nora when she'd forget her scroll. What he didn't expect to see in front of his eyes was the familiar figure of his former(?) crush which he was trying to move on from with little success.
Jaune: "Weiss? Is everything alright…" The boy didn't get to finish as her hand grabbed his wrist, earning his full attention.
Weiss: "Come with me for a bit!"
Unable to resist, he was dragged away by the small girl. Weiss had surprised him by how strong her grip was as she led him somewhere. The poor boy was caught so off guard, he couldn't do anything.
30 minutes later, Jaune found himself in the changing room of a store. It wasn't an ordinary store, however, but one that specialised in cosplay. Outfits belonging to famous fictional characters were sold here and for some reason, he found himself ready to change into one.
Of all the places in Vale, he did not expect the girl to bring him here. Nevermind the fact that she had given him an outfit and was told to try on, something from a game Ruby played if he remembered correctly.
It was very unusual from the normally serious Weiss he knew. Still, he begrudgingly started undressing and putting on the outfit, having a new-found appreciation for the people who enjoyed cosplaying.
Weiss waited outside the changing room for 10 minutes, her mind a jumbled mess of thoughts. All ranging from curiosity about how Jaune would look to her slightly panicking that she acted so out of character and dragged him without giving a single explanation.
Looking at her feet she considered her thoughts about the boy and found that she didn't know how to feel about him. Given what occurred in the last few months, Weiss genuinely didn't know the nature of their relationship. She never thought of him much before and only recently started noticing him.
Her head snapped back up when she heard the door open.
Jaune had exited the changing room looking awkward. His steps were hesitant as if he didn't know how to walk properly in the extravagant armor. Oddly enough, despite having more layers on him, he felt a lot more exposed as if a lot more eyes were on him. Which could very well be the case, the store was huge and packed with other customers.
In his personal opinion, when Jaune checked himself in the mirror before exiting, he found that the look suited him. The blue went well with his eyes and while the silver armor was not that special, the gold accents brought everything together, matching his hair as a bonus.
However, he looked nervously at the girl who had dragged him here. Jaune didn't know why, but he felt that she had done this for a reason and while she didn't share that reason, he hoped that he didn't disappoint her.
Weiss was quiet. Almost unusually so, despite her normally verbose self. She had seen the boy exit the changing room, donning the clothes she had picked for him and her mind came to a halt.
Baby blue eyes danced around, drinking in the sight of Jaune cosplaying the prince of her dreams. The boy who had both annoyed her the most and had been the kindest to her.
Weiss: "Jaune, would you smile for me, please?" She requested quitely.
Jaune: "What?" He didn't have a good feeling about the situation. Not with how quiet Weiss was being, her previous scrutinising gaze only adding to his nervousness.
Weiss: "Just… just give me your best charming smile."
And her weird requests kept coming. Jaune was smart enough to not question them, so he did as she requested. He tried to smile once, but it felt shaky, so he stopped, took a deep breath and tried again, his thoughts on how the beautiful girl in front of him made him feel before.
Weiss' breath hitched in her chest as she looked at him. It was impossible how well he fit the look. Everything from the blonde hair, his tall and lean physique to his boyish face was a near exact match to the Saber Servant. The only discrepancy was the eye color, deep blue instead of aqua. No less perfect in her vision.
Her face burned.
The old saying turned out to be true. The clothes did make the man and in this case, they made Jaune into her dream.
Jaune: "Weiss?" He stopped smiling and was a bit worried that she had yet to say anything.
His words seemed to have been a wake up call as she acted almost immediately. Abruptly, her small hands pushed Jaune back until he was inside the changing room again. The surprise gesture made him trip and fall on his butt inside the small room.
Weiss had followed him inside with no hesitation. After closing the door, she wasted no time in straddling him by sitting in his lap and giving him a deep, hot kiss, catching him completely off guard.
They broke it off after nearly a minute. The two panted as they struggled to regain their breaths, Weiss managing to do so much quicker.
Jaune: "W-weiss? Why di…?" To say he was shocked was an understatement. This went beyond anything he expected to happen when she had dragged him with her.
Weiss: "Where have you been all my life?" Her purring voice nearly made him melt from all the affection it held.
Jaune: "I-I've literally been asking you out for weeks." Did she really not notice him all those times?
Weiss: "Nevermind that. What matters now is that we're here and we can do whatever we want." To prove her point, she had wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned forward until her body was pressed completely against his, feeling everything. She pressed her forehead against his, the intense gaze in her eyes sent shivers down his spine.
Jaune: "I think I need an adult…" As freaked out as he was by her gesture, he could not deny the butterflies he felt in his stomach or how hot his cheeks felt. Weiss Schnee had kissed him and it made his heart start a marathon in his chest.
Weiss: "I'll make a King out of you." With a slow, sensual lick, she wet her lips and captured his again. This time, her fingers went through his hair as she got lost in the sensation. Weiss nearly moaned when she felt his hands on her slim waist, pulling her closer as he began reciprocating.
They continued like this until the staff found them and kicked them out for indecency. Weiss managed to somehow buy the outfit anyway, though.
Now they simply walked around Vale with the heiress hugging his right arm to her body closely and leaning her head against it. The boy blushed all the way, but remained quiet.
The day had only begun for them.

Tumblr media
“Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!” You whispered hurriedly under your breath as you made your way through the dark, ominous jungle. Clutching your blaster tightly, you stepped over vines and branches, your ears and eyes straining for any sign of movement.
Your heart was beating rapidly but you did your best to suppress your nerves and focus on the task at hand. You were unable to shake the foreboding  feeling of being watched by something waiting in the looming darkness.
‘I am literally the least qualified person in existence to be doing this!’ You thought to yourself. The immense metaphorical weight of this situation felt heavy on your shoulders.
Your feet ached like you had been walking for an eternity and you could feel your shirt sticking to your sweaty back, but you didn’t let your guard down for even a second to adjust it.
‘What’s gonna happen if I don’t find them?’ You thought. ‘Or worse, don’t find them?’ Shaking those thoughts from your head, you pushed onward. ‘Keep a clear head, like Obi Wan trained you to do.’
Finally, your ears were met with the sound of movement off in the distance and you swore you could make out a faint light off in that direction. Pausing, you held your breath, straining your ears so that you could listen to  the sound of robotic footsteps and metallic voices filling the eerily quiet jungle.
Despite the immense heat, you felt a shiver of fear run down your spine. A sense of panic that began to course through your veins but you did your best to push aside your emotions.
‘What do I do, oh fuck, what do I do?’
You stopped and took a deep breath, absorbing the warm jungle air.
‘What would Obi Wan do?’
You did your best to recall everything that Obi Wan had ever told you about his missions. How he handled hostage situations and tight spots.
Finally, you decided that the best scenario was to locate the two Jedi and get them out as quickly and quietly as possible, not in the process alerting anyone.
‘Besides, I kind of dout that there really is a senator, probably just a trap to get to Ani and Obi.’ You slowly moved towards the sounds of the enemy. Once you got closer, It was very apparent that you were immensely outnumbered. Hundreds of battle droids marched about in a bright, makeshift camp.
You crouched down behind the thick jungle brush and strategically scouted out where the Jedi were most likely to be, making mental note of where the enemy were most clustered together.
Out of the corner of your eye, you spotted what looked like the only other living thing there. A tall, wrinkled, green man in a headdress who was conversing with a battle droid.
In the hopes of overhearing the location of Obi Wan and Anakin, you moved closer to the two.
“The Jedi are on the other side of the clearing Viceroy Gunray.” The droid said in a high pitched, metallic voice.
“Excellent, our trap worked perfectly! Soon we will be rid of two of the most troublesome Jedi in the order!”
In the bushes, you placed your hand over your mouth, not wanting to take the risk of them hearing your heavy breathing.
“Tell the droids to be ready to exterminate in thirty minutes.” The man (If you could even really call him that) continued.
“Roger roger!” The droid said before walking away.
‘Next step,’ You thought. ‘Spring the trap.’
                                                           ***
Obi Wan And Anakin sat back to back, wrists and ankles tied together, lightsabers just out of reach and four droids standing guard. Quite a familiar situation for the both of them.
“How did this happen, we’re smarter than this!” Obi Wan mused to himself.
“Do you think Y/n is coming master?” Anakin asked, tossing his head back in a feeble attempt to get his curls out of his face.
“I suppose she is.” Obi Wan didn’t want to let on how terrified he was for your safety, how much of a failure he felt like for getting captured and leaving you to brave the dangers of jungle alone.
“Look, I know you’re worried about Y/n but she can handle herself.” Anakin told him reassuringly. “She’s stronger than you think.” Obi Wan nodded in response, even though Ani couldn’t see it. “Besides, She’s had training. She knows how to handle that blaster.”
“Well if by some miracle she saves us, I don’t think we will ever hear the end of it.”
Anakin smiled. “Her ass is on the line too, without us she has no one to fly her home.”
“That’s definitely some motivation.”
For a time they sat in silence. There wasn’t much need for them to panic as there was no immediate danger, But the thought of you trying to find and rescue them on your own had Obi Wan on edge.
Suddenly, there was a soft rustling from the bushes  a few feet behind them. He and Anakin turned their heads just in time to see you stealthily crawl towards them out of the brush. You reached them and used a small knife that you had to cut their hands and ankles free.
“Hi.” You said to Obi Wan, face beaming, your voice barely above a whisper so as not to alert the captors.
“Hello there.” He was beyond relieved to see you here unharmed and alive, but he knew you all still had a long way to go before you were truly safe.
“Almost didn't recognize you with the black eye.” Anakin said before jumping up and using the force to grab both light sabers, handing one to Obi Wan as he stood up.
“Come on let's go.” You said motioning back the way you came, hoping to get away before the droids noticed that the Jedi were free.
“Y/n,” Obi Wan said earnestly. “We must attempt to capture Viceroy Gunray, he is far too valuable an asset to let escape.”
You pursed your lips, obviously not happy about trying to fight your way through a droid army.
“If you feel more comfortable you can head back to the ship-“
“Fuck no!” You said indignantly, “I’m not leaving you guys” With all the gumption you had, you said,  “Let’s do this.”
Anakin smiled at you before turning on his saber. “Good call.”
***
You weren’t entirely sure how you got split up from the two Jedi but in the chaos of the fight it was pretty much bound to happen. So there you were, in an isolated clearing without any droids, a foot away from Viceroy Gunray, blaster pointed at his chest.
“They want you alive.” You said, demeanor unwavering. You were thankful that your voice sounded so tough, inside you were completely freaking out.
Viceroy Gunray scoffed at you as you stared into his cold, slimy eyes.
“And you are going to bring me to the Jedi? Some little girl with a black eye-“ his sentence was suddenly cut off by your fist colliding with his face, throwing him to the ground with a harsh thud.
“There, give your eye a few minutes and we’ll match.” He coughed as he propped himself up onto his elbows. “Don’t move.” You commanded, sanding over him, your blaster still aimed at him.
“It’s odd, too see a Jedi fighting without a light saber.”
Your brows furrowed in confusion at his words. “I’m no Jedi.”
He gave you an ugly smile “Our spies say something different.”
You stared at him, perplexed. “W-what…”
At that moment, Obi Wan and Anakin broke through the brush, breathless, with light sabers still ignited in their fists. You kept your gaze on Gunray, waiting for an answer.
“Has Obi Wan not told you?” He chuckled. “It seems someone is force sensitive.”
You whipped your head around to stare at Obi Wan incredulously.
“I'd stop talking if you know what's good for you viceroy.” Anakin said, coming forward to apprehend him with some holo cuffs. You slowly backed away and lowered your blaster in a dazed sort of way.
“The droids are all taken care of and-” Obi Wan began but he was interrupted by you.
“Obi, what was he talking about.” You watched him avert his Ocean blue eyes from you.
“Obi-” Your voice shook with confusion and anger. “Is he...I...You knew?” The sound of utter hurt in your tone wounded him more than a blaster bullet to the heart.
He swallowed thickly before regaining his composure and putting away his saber. “Let us discuss this when we return to the ship.”
                                                          ***
The walk to the ship was tense and quiet. You walked ahead of the two Jedi, Gunray in custody, your seething rage leaving a path behind you that even the most untrained of Jedi could sense.
As you stomped your way into the ship, Obi Wan and company in tow,  you felt your anger boiling up within you, ready to overflow at any minute.
Fists clenched, You whirled on Obi Wan, Anakin awkwardly walked past you into the pilots seat with Gunray.
“Explain.” You said. There was a commanding harshness to your tone.
“The Jedi council has known that there was a possibility of you being force sensitive. They made the executive decision to not tell you for-“
“Don’t you dare fucking say for my own safety!” Your white gripped knuckles shook with anger. “Besides, telling me obviously didn’t do anything to prevent the enemy from knowing.”
“I was simply doing what was best for you Y/n.”
“No! You were doing what was best for the council! If you would let yourself feel a goddamn emotion instead of following everything they tell you too maybe you would have figured that out!” There was no stopping you now, everything you wanted to say to him was spilling out. “I trusted you! I’m literally in another dimension or world or whatever! I’m alone and I trusted you to be with me and to...to…” You stammered for the right words. “To not keep things like this from me!” I You could feel tears of emotion prickling up in your eyes. ‘Don’t let him see the pain!’ You reminded yourself.
Obi Wan was speechless.
You turned you back to him and crossed your arms in a fetal attempt to calm yourself. The presence of his eyes lingered on the back of your head.  those words stung, hitting him deep in his heart. You could hear his heavy footsteps walk to the front of the ship, leaving you by yourself. When you were satisfied you were alone, you let the tears and silent sobs of pent up emotion and confusion roll down your cheeks as you stared out at the stars from the ship’s window, The same stars you had admired with him on the way there.
***
When you landed back on Coruscant  you fully intended to head back to the apartment and sulk, ‘maybe I could catch a ride with Anakin after he takes care of Gunray. Lord knows I don't want to be near Obi Wan right now.’
As the doors to the ship opened and afternoon light flooded into the ship, you walked out onto the platform. To your surprise, Masters Yoda and Windu stood waiting. You headed towards them, you could sense that they were there for you.
“Y/n, We have much to discuss.” Windu said to you.
“Indeed we do.” You anger was apparent in your voice.
Windu turned to Yoda. “Why don’t you oversee everything with Gunray?” He suggested. As Yoda walked away Obi Wan came to join the two of you.
“What do you need to tell me?”
“We’ve deciphered part of the book.” your face was illuminated with shock.
“And?”
“Why don’t we discuss this somewhere more private?” Windu suggested.
Crossing your arms in defiance you said. “No, I’ve waited six months dude and I’m not waiting a second more, spill.”
Windu was slightly taken aback by your abruptness, yet none of that shone through his stone cold exterior. “The book is written in an old Jedi code, one that has not been used for quite awhile. It speaks of a person from another world coming to ours and what they must do to find out how to get back.”
You held your breath, not daring to believe it. “Yes?”
“It tells of a planet and a ritual, we are working on tracking the plane now but we do expect it to take awhile.”
You could hardly believe it, standing on the platform, the wind blowing in your face, you stared out at the space city you had learned to live in these past few months. All that could change soon.
“There is however, a grave warning.” Turning your gaze back onto Windu, you prompted him to go forward. “The ritual appears to be very dangerous, there is a high risk in death in attempting it. The council has decided it is up to you to choose to go through with it or not.”
“I’ll do it.” You told him without a moment's hesitation. You felt a warm hand on your shoulder and turned to look at Obi Wan, his concern obvious on his face.
“Y/n, You would be putting your life at risk.”
You stared into his eyes, yours hard and devoid of emotion. Shrugging his hand off your shoulder you said to him. “There is nothing for me here.” You knew your words would hurt him. That's why you had said them. ‘Perhaps that was too much.’ Before you considered our actions too much you turned away from the two and stormed away.
***
It had been a week since you came back from the mission and you still hadn’t talked to Obi Wan, instead letting stubbornness take the wheel. In the meantime, you had taken up your training  sessions with Anakin.
“You know,” Anakin said tentatively as you stretched out your sore muscles. “I think there’s someone who wants to have a little chat with you.”
You felt your jaw clench with annoyance as you sat on the floor, reaching for your toes. “I’d rather talk to that Gungan right.”
Anakin came over to sit down next to you. “Look, you can't pretend to be mad at Obi Wan forever so what’s the real reason you don’t want to talk to him? I Know what he did wasn’t the best but he feels really bad”
You scoffed and sat up as well. “How can you tell, he doesn’t really show any emotions.”
“Well neither do you.” His words connected something in your brain, like two puzzle pieces coming together. All the times you had pushed your emotions deep down flashed across your mind. Why? Because you were scared?
‘Why don’t I let them see the pain?’
You contemplated his words for a moment. “W-What if I’ve burned all my bridges?”  bringing your hand up to your face, you gingerly touched the healing black eye, remembering how hard Obi Wan had tried to protect you during that incident. “I was really harsh, what if he doesn’t want to be... friends?”
Anakin bit back his frustration at neither of you being able to admit your obvious attraction for one another. “I know my master like he’s my own brother, and I know that he will never give up on someone he cares about.”
You sat there in silence for a minute, letting feelings of regret wash over you. But in the middle of all that regret there was a glimmer Hope.
Anakin put a reassuring hand on your shoulder. “I’ll let him know that you want to talk, Alright?”
You nodded. “Alright.”
                                                             ***
You stood near the edge of the balcony, elbows braced on the railing, letting the cool night air flood your lungs while you stared up at the stars. Stars that didn’t belong to you.
You could sense Obi Wan behind you before you noticed him physically. You could feel his presence behind you, leaning in the doorway that led back into the apartment.
“Hi.” You said, not turning around. You were too ashamed to look him in the eyes at the moment.
His footsteps echoed against the ornate tile of the balcony as he made his way towards You. He rested himself next to you against the railing.
“Hello there.” you swallowed hard and looked down at your hands, anything to avoid eye contact. “I thought about what you said.” You let his words fill the tense air between the two of you. He took your silence as a sign to continue. “I’ve been trained by the Jedi for most of my life, I've been trained  to repress all emotions, to do anything to keep my feelings at bay. But your words made me realize that perhaps the jedi aren't right about everything, that repressing emotions can lead to more harm than good.”
You were honestly shocked at how open he was with you. “I suppose you must be rethinking a lot? That must be tough.” You said fidgeting with your fingers.
“Extremely.” He answered. After a short silence he asked “Do you still want to go through with the ritual the book talked of.?”
Biting your lip you nodded. “I-I have to, I can’t just leave my world behind, my family” you paused. “I am sorry though, about saying there was nothing here for me. That was a lie, I really do care for you.” you could sense him smiling.
“You do understand how dangerous it is? You’ll be putting your life at risk.”
“Isn’t that what you do everyday, General Kenobi?” He let out a chuckle before the silence of the city swept over the two of you again.
You used all the courage you had to look him in the eyes. “I want you to know that I’m here for you while you figure stuff out and that i'm sorry I was so harsh on you, you were only doing what you thought was right.” He looked back down at you with his ocean blue eyes, filled to the brim with kindness. “And you're not alone with repressing your emotions. I’m terrified of people… well, of you seeing how… hurt I get. I don't want to be a burden so I just act like nothing is wrong, or sometimes even lash out at people.” Obi Wan put his large calloused hand on top of yours. “I need to start showing people how I feel.”
“Seems that you and I are in the same boat,  how about we work on that together, Hmm?” You held your breath for a moment, as you looked up at him, relishing in the feeling of the soft breeze through your hair and Obi Wan’s hand on top of yours. Tentatively, you brought your free hand up to softly cup his cheek, your fingers softly stroking the hair of his beard.
“Obi?”
“Yes?”
You leaned forward slightly. “This is me showing you how I feel.” You leaned forward and pressed your soft lips into his, letting the emotions you had harbored for him for months break free. He brought his hands to your face and deepened the passionate kiss, letting all his feelings and emotions flow out. You could sense him in the force, letting go of everything that held him back, letting himself be freed.
You reluctantly pulled away from him, breathless and panting. Your face glowed with a beautiful smile and you thought to yourself, ‘Finally.’

It’s 11 pm and all I can think about is Jedi: Fallen Order meeting Star Wars Rebels
Did Cal ever learn how to speak the language of the La’saut’s? His Master was one so it would make sense. If so, imagine Zeb’s face the moment this random human they just met greets him in the language of his people in an albeit rusty accent but his pronunciation is correct.
Cere takes one look at Ezra and freezes in place because Holy Kriff it’s a tiny Force-sensitive child who attracts way too much trouble and now she must protect him at all costs because she is not failing another youngling.
Cal and Kanan know each other from the Jedi temple with Cal being a year or so older then Kanan. They roomed together for a few months just before they were taken as Padawans by their respective Master’s.
There is this awkward moment when Cal recognizes his old friend because of the name change. (Cal: ”Caleb? Caleb Dume?” Kanan: “Uh, sorryIthinkyouhavethewrongguyI’mKananKananJarruswhoisthisCalebDumeyouspeakofIdon’tknowhimwhywouldyouthinkIknowhimandwaitasecondisthatyouKestis?” Ezra: ???)
And that is how the Ghost Crew (sans Hera who already knew) finds out Kanan changed his name.
Greez and Hera immediately start talking about their respective ships. This soon turns into an argument of who is the better pilot and who has the better ship and Kanan is just standing in the background exasperated with his wife.
Standing next to Kanan is Merrin, who is watching as Cal shows Ezra his double-sided lightsaber. Ezra is practically jumping up and down in excitement, firing off questions of how it works, can he build one, where did he get the parts, why does this guy have so many different interchangeable pieces and crystals, on and on. Cal is smiling trying to stay calm and just shooting looks of “help me” at Merrin who is no help. At all.
Sabine loves Merrin’s dress (mainly because of the bright red color) and immediately asks where she got it. (“I found it on one of my dead sister’s who did not escape my people’s slaughter. Her spilled blood protects me from unwanted eyes.”)
Sabine will, uh, be in her cabin.
Cal ends up accidentally getting a Force echo off of something from the crew and almost has a stroke because Kriff, these people need hugs.
Ezra begs Cal to show him how to read Force echos which Cal then has to break it to the kid it is something you are born with, not train for.
Course Ezra then tames all these wild animals they come across and Cal finds himself slightly jealous because kriff, that would have been useful on Kashyyyk.
Kanan and Cal reminiscing about old times in the temple and Ezra hanging onto every word.
Cere commenting on Kanan’s fallen Master and stating that Deba would have been proud of the Jedi he had become. Kanan had to leave for some fresh air after that comment.
Merrin freaking out the entire Ghost Crew with her magick but everyone thinks it’s pretty useful especially when an Inquisitor comes to play.
And Kanan and Ezra are ready to go to town on this guy and Cal just casually whips out his saber and fights this guy one on one, with BD-1 throwing stims and shocking his opponent every once in a while.
Ezra to Chopper: “Why don’t you ever do anything like that?”
Chopper hates BD-1 after that. Everyone else loves him (only Hera prefers Chopper over the little guy)
Cal does try to teach “Force Slow” to Ezra and Kanan but neither of them can seem to get it down. Ezra did manage to freeze Kanan, but not slow him down so much as pin his arms and legs together.
And these two space families just going on a mission together and all the family dynamic’s just--Ugh!

Episode 49: The One with Too Much JGY and Not Enough Wangxian
Very little wangxiantics in this episode, guys, there’s like, VERY LITTLE wangxiantics
The fact that the show is bringing us down to breadcrumbs again is Homophobic
But let’s get through this!
blah blah blah jgy acts all pathetic blah blah blah lxc engages jgy in a convo blah blah
lwj has to go in and be like, bro, please, don't talk to him
and wwx is like, yeah, you literally just told jc not to talk to him, follow your own advice dude
lxc is like, hm, you make a good point...i shall continue talking to jgy regardless
jgy continues with his pity party speech and i continue not to care
BUT THEN LXC KNEELS DOWN TO SPEAK WITH JGY MORE INTIMATELY????
WTF LXC STOP THAT RIGHT NOW
lwj is like BRO
lxc is like I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING BRO
and i'm like DO YOU THO?
now he's going to question jgy and counting on him answering truthfully??
WHAT HAS HE DONE TO MAKE YOU THINK HE'LL DO ANYTHING BUT LIE, ZEWU JUN??
so we get a much less entertaining Q&A session accompanied by jgy's flashbacks
(can we go back to lwj's drunken Q&A sesh? I’d much rather question drunk!lwj than sober!jgy)
the only point i had any actual sympathy was when jgy brings up qin su and her mom bc qin su and her mother deserved better
Ooh, lxc is getting super judgy about jgy killing jgs
This is where you draw the line, lxc?? c’mon.
i mean, judge him for how he did it, sure
there was no need to involve all those innocent women in the murder
but really, killing jgs was the only good act of public service jgy did
give credit where it's due, pal.
HELL YEAH IT'S BITCH-SLAP JGY TIME AGAIN
LOL EVEN WWX AND LWJ LOOK SURPRISED THAT LXC DID THAT
oh noooo lxc is asking about jzx and oh, wwx is PISSED
Wwx grabs the front of jgy's robes and hauls him up and yells in his face “WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO? SAY IT!”
cue flashback scene to jgy tricking jzx
AND NOW MY BRATTY SON IS YANKING THE FRONT OF JGY'S ROBES SCREAMING WHY? WHY? TELL ME WHY DID YOU HAVE TO DO IT??
HIS VOICE IS ALL CRACKED AND HOARSE AND HE'S CRYING
I WANT TO WRAP HIM UP IN BLANKETS AND COZY THINGS AND PROTECT HIM FROM ALL THE BAD THINGS IN THE WORLD
jl collapses to his knees and my beautiful sunshine boy falls to his side and scoops him into his arms
BC WWX LOVES HIS BRATTY NEPHEW AND GOD DAMN IT, JL DESERVES HUGS AND AFFECTION
oh jgy was about to touch jl's face and i was like DON'T YOU FUCKING DARE I WILL CUT THAT HAND OFF YOU
but then he pulled away bc i am very fearsome actually wwx was glaring at him
and ofc jgy can't have people being sympathetic to anyone NOT him so he's like, what about me, huh? you never ask why I personally had to suffer!
Cue another flashback in which JGS IS A FUCKING DOUCHEBAG
I HOPE HE ROTS IN ANCIENT FANTASY CHINA HELL
HALF OF THE PROBLEMS WERE A RESULT OF HIM NOT BEING ABLE TO KEEP IT IN HIS FUCKING PANTS
ROBES
WHATEVER
ugh i hate jgy too
he's essentially telling jin ling that oh, i killed your father bc your grandfather was scum of the earth
AS IF JZX AND JL DESERVED TO SUFFER FOR JGS'S SINS
FUCK YOU JGY
suddenly jgy takes my bratty son hostage!!
wwx shouts "JIN LING" as he jerks towards his only nephew
BUT IT'S TOO LATE, jgy already has that garrote AROUND JL'S NECK
WIPE THAT SMUG SMIRK OFF YOUR FACE SU SHE
I WILL END YOU
god i need to stop threatening people, i have no ability to back it up
lol jc is like WWX YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO TAKE ALL HIS WEAPONS AWAY!!
and wwx is like I DID!
siblings always find time to bicker, even in dire situations
lwj tells them that jgy hid the garrote inside his body
bc lwj is smart and observant
but ewwww, the idea of yanking that gold string out of a vein squicks the hell out of me
yuckyuckyuck it makes my skin crawl
jgy tightens the string around my bratty son's neck and everyone freaks out, obvs
oh jc loves his nephew so much! he's all like, if you need a hostage take me instead and leave jin ling alone!!
JC IS A GREAT UNCLE, JC LOVES HIS FAMILY SO MUCH, JC DESERVES TO RECONCILE WITH HIS BROTHER AND HAVE A LOVING HAPPY FAMILY
jgy is like, nah bc of Reasons
then my sunshine boy is like, hey aren't you forgetting smth jgy? what about your loyal lackey here?
but ss is an idiot and is like, don't worry about me boss!
and jgy is all, cool thx lackey
now lxc and jgy do some more chitchat i don't care about
suddenly there is ominous knocking on the doors AND A WILD LAN SIZHUI APPEARS!!!
He got chucked into the temple like the football lol
NOW WEN NING IS HERE! HE’S COVERED WITH RESENTFUL ENERGY, CARRYING BAXIA LIKE A BADASS
Dude, for real, wn looks so cool here
letting the tip of the saber scrape ominously against the stone ground and walking with slow measured steps
and baxia is freaking glowing
nhs calls him "brother" but i'm pretty sure he knows it's not nmj and just said it to freak jgy out
wwx ofc recognizes wen ning
AHHHHHH WWX IS DOING HIS EERIE WHISTLE AGAIN, I LOVE IT WHEN HE DOES THAT
SO COOL, WWX, SO COOL!!
his brow is all furrowed when he sees wn is not reacting and he starts to whistle more earnestly
wwx: what's happening? why is wn not listening to me? could it be...?
cut to lwj, looking all serious bc hey, this is actually a serious situation
lwj: he is possessed by the blade spirit
wn roars and vaults over the distance between him and jgy with baxia raised high and it looks freaking AWESOME
lol we get a quick shot here of nhs panicking and ducking behind su she
jgy lets go of the gold string around jl's neck to flee from wn which gives wwx an opening
Wwx dives forward and wraps himself around jin ling
Then he twirls them to the side away from incoming baxia and crashes them both to the ground where they're safe
as this is happening, lwj sees his opening and draws bichen
we get a quick moment where wwx and jc are both fussing over jl, it’s super sweet!
AND THEN WE GET A SHOT OF JGY'S DISEMBODIED ARM
THE CAMERA STARTS TO TILT UPWARDS
WE SEE THE HEM OF LWJ'S PRISTINE WHITE ROBES FRAMED BY BICHEN
BICHEN HAS RIVULETS OF BLOOD STREAMING DOWN THE BLADE
THE CAMERA CONTINUES TO TILT UPWARD UNTIL WE SEE LWJ STANDING TALL, FACE GRIM AND SERIOUS AND JUST OVERALL HOLDING HIMSELF IN AN IMPOSING BADASS WAY
wwx is looking at him like HOLY SHIT LWJ
Which is a totally reasonable reaction bc holy shit lwj
HA, now jgy only has one arm
I may not be able to follow up on my threats but it is gratifying to see lwj follow through for me lololol
gross, ss is all begging for medicine to help jgy
stfu ss, nobody likes either of you two
wn's blow struck the ground and cracked it before so now he's back up doing his steady creepy walk to finish what he was going to do
lwj's brow furrows and he sits himself down, cross-legged and summons his guqin
lol i love how he summons his instrument tbh
he just wooshes his flowy sleeves and his guqin glitters into existence
it looks very Magical Girl and i appreciate that
someone needs to draw lwj in a Magical Girl outfit IMMEDIATELY
lxc gets his flute out and our lan bros do a duet to chill out the angry sword spirit
LOL WEN NING JUST STEPS ON JGY'S CHOPPED OFF ARM
DO IT AGAIN WN 😆😆😆
let me just say, i'm really enjoying watching jgy and ss cower away from the oncoming wen ning
but oh noo! jl calls out for his evil uncle and draws wn's attention and wn tries to attack him
i guess baxia senses jgy's blood on jl's robes or smth? Idk, doesn’t matter
wwx tries to do some sort of spell to stop wn but it doesn't work and in a fit of panic he yells out “WEN QIONGLIN!”
thankfully this snaps wn out of it enough that he stops baxia like, one inch from my bratty son's face
the lan bros are still doing their Magic Music thing and wn is trying to reign in baxia but baxia's pissed off so everyone’s struggling
wwx starts his whistling again and it's rattling Plot Device 3
lxc tries to stop wwx but lwj shakes his head at his brother like no, back off
wwx turns to look at lwj, lwj meets his eyes and gives him a single solemn nod
AND WWX SMILES AT HIM BC HIS SOULMATE BELIEVES IN HIS ABILITIES AND TRUSTS HIM!!!
this is the first legit proper wangxiantic moment in the whole episode, what the heck
GIVE ME MORE WANGXIAN AND LESS JGY, PLZ & THX
jc: wei wuxian!!
wwx turns to see his brother and jc FLINGS THE DEMON FLUTE AT WWX bc apparently he's been carrying chenqing around THIS WHOLE TIME??
wwx nods to him (and omg jc is helping him, this is good, this is a step in the right direction!!) and brings chenqing to his lips
we get a shot of lwj staring at wwx as wwx starts to play
and the background music starts to get SUPER INTENSE and EXCITING as wwx plays
CHENQING STARTS TO OOZE THAT SMOKY RESENTFUL MAGIC STUFF
we get a shot of JC watching wwx play and this is the softest we've seen him look at his brother since he came back from the dead
he's looking at him like it's finally hitting him that wwx is back, his big brother is alive and here and protecting him and jin ling bc that's what family is supposed to do
AND IF I CAN’T HAVE WANGXIANTICS, I WILL ACCEPT YUNMENG BROS TIME AS RECOMPENSE
oooh, Plot Device 3 starts to zoom around and we get a fun bit of camera work so it seems like we're seeing everything from Plot Device 3's perspective
which is kind of adorable for some reason???
it's just zipping along and it sees wwx and wwx guides its attention to where wn is struggling to control baxia
wwx starts to walk, getting both baxia and Plot Device 3 to follow him further into the temple
lwj sees this happening and whooshes away his guqin and follows bc he's always going to follow wwx obvs
WWX IS SO AWESOME, I LOVE WATCHING HIM WORK
EVERYBODY IS STARING AT HIM IN AWE AS THEY SHOULD BE BC MY SUNSHINE BOY IS SKILLED AS HECK
he manages to get baxia into the coffin with nmj before he starts coughing up blood
But before we can freak out about that, nhs scream in the background
so everyone runs to check out what's happening there
nhs is all SS WHY'D YOU TRY TO KILL ME OMG MY LEG IS ALL CUT UP NOW, EVERYTHING IS AWFUL, HELP HELP
and ss is like BUT I DIDN'T, HE'S LYING!!!
lol baxia just leaps out of the coffin buries itself in ss's chest
AND THAT’S IT FOR SU SHE
good fucking riddance
But also baxia is nmj's saber
DID IT HEAR NHS AND BE LIKE, NO I CAN'T LET MY MASTER'S BELOVED LITTLE BROTHER GET HURT BY THIS USELESS NOBODY???
BAXIAAAAAA
WHAT A GOOD SABER YOU ARE *CRIES*
wwx starts up his demon flute again even tho baxia seems much more chill now that it has finally killed someone
But let's watch wwx be a badass on the flute anyway
look at my sunshine boy go!
look at him corral all that resentful energy!
love my sunshine boy
baxia is finally subdued and wwx lays it and Plot Device 3 in the coffin with nmj
he covers the coffin using some of his wicked awesome red magic stuff
but it's taking a lot out of him i guess bc he stumbles back and lwj is right there to catch him
bc they're soulmates and they love each other
aND GOD THE WAY THEY LOOK AT EACH OTHER HERE
JUST, UGH
EVERY TIME THEY LOOK AT EACH OTHER MY HEART GETS PALPITATIONS
And this is the only other wangxiantic moment in this episode, wtf show
cut to the next scene, everyone's patching up wounds and whatever
lol we can hear nhs whining like a baby bc omg it hurts it hurts, lxc be more gentle
and lxc is like, chill bro it's just a stab wound
nhs is like JUST a stab wound?? r u kidding me, i'm DYING!!
Which is exactly how i would react to a stab wound lol
now lxc is with jgy and he's like jgy if you do ONE more bad thing, i will definitely finally punish you mercilessly
then he starts checking out his armless shoulder bc lxc really is too good and not all that bright apparently
lol when wwx sees lxc tending to jgy's wounds and his face is like ugh i can't believe this guy
AND THIS IS WHEN WE GET THAT AMAZING AWESOME SHOT OF NHS'S FACE GOING ALL SERIOUS AND, LIKE, VENOMOUS
WE ONLY SEE PART OF HIS FACE, THE OTHER PART COVERED BY LXC'S OUT OF FOCUS FACE
AND NHS GLOWERS AT JGY
oh, my poor sunshine boy is wincing and holding a cloth to his STILL SLUGGISHLY BLEEDING NECK WOUND
SOMEBODY GIVE MY SUNSHINE BOY MEDICINE
TAKE WHATEVER LXC GAVE TO JGY AND GIVE IT TO MY SUNSHINE BOY STAT
lsz is watching him very intently bc he's figuring out some things about himself and wwx that LWJ DIDN'T HAVE THE GOOD GRACE TO EXPLAIN TO EITHER OF THEM YET
lwj ofc has got his eyes glued on wwx bc, i mean, what else is there worth looking at in the Temple of Doom?
And i guess this counts as a wangxiantic too bc lsz is basically wangxian’s love child anyway!
lxc has the gall to ask nhs to hand him the medicine bottle to tend to FUCKING JGY'S (AKA HIS BIG BROTHER’S MURDERER) WOUNDS
GOD JUST LET JGY BLEED OUT AND DIE ALREADY
nhs is like sure! grabs the medicine bottle and hides it in his robes
he makes a whole show out of rooting around in his robes to ‘find’ it and lxc goes to him to grab it or whatever so his back is turned to jgy
AND NHS, THAT CLEVER CLEVER BOY, USES THIS CHANCE
he makes a show of looking over lxc's shoulder and shouts LXC LOOK OUT!!
lxc grabs his sword and whirls around and stabs it right into jgy
and nhs is all stuttery and nervously saying how omg he saw jgy reach behind him and he thought he was gonna do something awful so he panicked
Then jgy finally sees nhs AND THAT'S WHERE THE EPISODE ENDS
So another episode with way too much plot stuff, yuck
I mean, we only got 3 actual wangxian moments??
What is that about, huh? THAT’S NOT EVERY GAY RIGHTS OF YOU, SHOW!
The next episode is THE LAST and we’re definitely getting wangxiantics there and i will definitely cry about it

okay this is kinda weird ish but how would the kotrt react if their master/crush or s/o fell on them and they ended in a really ''akward'' position? xD
I did something similar here, but this ask had the added bonus of S/Os and awkward positions. So, I was super excited about writing this. I originally wanted to write about the awkward positions in more detail, but couldn’t think of enough (so that idea got scrapped). This has been sitting in my inbox for a while, so I hope it meets your expectations. :)
It’s pretty long, so it’s under the thing. It’s SFW though. No spoilers.
Arthur/(Saber) Artoria
They haven’t even realized the way you landed on them is any kind of awkward. They’ll gently shift under you so they can see your face more properly. After inquiring if you’re alright, they’ll gently scold you because, “it’s dangerous to run in the hallway.” They’ll make it sound like you should walk for your own safety, but it’s partly because they’re now worried you might get hurt. Don’t worry; they don’t let the conversation end that way. Once they help you to your feet, they’ll offer you their arm with a kind smile and say, “I’m not sure where you were headed, but allow me to escort you there.” They’re make light conversation with and smile at you the whole way.
(Lancer) Artoria
Unlike her younger counterparts, she absolutely noticed the way you landed on her. This Artoria handled the situation in the exact same way, but as she’s walking with you to where ever you were going, there’s a noticeable blush on her face and she’s having difficulty looking at you or holding a conversation. If you tease her about it (which I 100% recommend), she’ll get even with you later when the two of you are alone; remember, your lover hates to lose.
Bedivere
Bedivere wants to ask if you’re ok, but he’s too busy chocking on literally nothing. His eyes are wide and he is red; his face, his ears, his neck. Best boy of the round table officially looks like a lobster. He’s frozen for a good few minutes before stuttering out an apology. If you ask why he’s apologizing (after all, you fell on him), he manages to answer, “I-I don’t know; it…seemed appropriate.” After the two of you are on your feet again, you ask if Bedivere is ok (he looked so flustered). He nods and says, “Forgive me; I should be the one asking after your well being.” You assure him he hadn’t done anything wrong, but note you wouldn’t reject whatever he plans to prepare as an apology (you know him well enough to know you can’t talk him out of it, so it’s better to just let him have his way). Bedivere smiles, thanks you, and (as you predicted) insists that doing something special for you is necessary. You part ways feeling a little excited to find out what sweet surprise he has in store for you.
Gawain
You fell off the ladder you were standing on into his face (guys: crotch first. girls: chest first). You panic, scrambling off him, afraid you knocked him out, but he was just laying there with a goofy smile on his face; he clearly has zero complaints about what just happened. Still worried, you ask if he’s okay. He assures you he’s fine. In fact, you could’ve stayed where you were longer if you wanted and it wouldn’t have done him any harm. You cover your face, embarrassed. He tries to convince you there’s nothing to be embarrassed about, but when he can’t ease your discomfort with words, he begins lightly kissing the backs of your hands and fingers. Gawain smiles when you finally lower you hands. He then cups your face in his hands. He reassures you again that everything’s fine and vows to fight for your honor if anyone says anything rude to you about it.
Lancelot
As much as you expected Lancelot to say or do something on a perversion level close to Merlin’s, Lancelot is more of a ‘knight on the streets and a freak in the sheets’ kind of guy. While he doesn’t seem to mind, Lancelot does try to get you back on your feet quickly to limit whatever embarrassment you felt. However, Mash was nearby, and Lancelot ended up scooping you up in his arms (bridal style) and ran away to avoid her. It didn’t work super well; he realized early on she’d stop chasing him if he put you down. The problem was he couldn’t slow down enough or long enough to do that. Lancelot manages to lose her by hiding in a supply closet. However, the supply closet is rather small, so now you’re in awkward situation #2. With some fumbling for the doorknob, and some accidental groping, Lancelot finally manages to open to door so you can sneak out to pacify Mash. He gives you a quick kiss on the cheek before you go though.
Merlin
When you fell on Merlin, you actually hit him rather hard (in a place you never would have thought to touch him in public). He saw stars and he wheezed. You try to move off him, but Merlin holds you in place. When he can finally speak again, he half jokes that he’s accustomed to a lighter touch, but is very open to whatever new experiences you can dream of. You wiggle out of his arms and sprint away, although it doesn’t take you long to realize how dumb that was. He can track you easily enough with his clairvoyance. Plus, you can’t decide to sleep off the embarrassment because he’s an incubus. Not to worry though. Merlin knows when to give you space and he’ll let you have your distance…for now.
Mordred
After the initial shock wears off, Mordred asks if you’re going to stay like that all day. He doesn’t sound angry, and there is a slight tint to his cheeks. Being the rebel he is (and not caring at all if your pda makes third parties uncomfortable), he suggests the two of you get up to something more.
If you agree, the two of you go pretty far before other knights of the round table happen upon you two. Your fun is abruptly ended when Artoria scolds Mordred for not keeping such intimate displays of affection more private.
If you decline, you two go your separate ways. This is fine by Mordred since you’re more honest when the two of you are alone; and he does intend to (try) continue later.
Tristan
He immediately laments about how sad that this happened in the middle of the hallway due to the embarrassment it must’ve caused you. He seems to feel worse about it than you do. You can try to insist that it really isn’t that bad, but Tristan’s mind is made up: this is terrible and it’s up to him to make you feel better. So, he takes you back to his room and plays uplifting songs on his harp. Well, you never turn down listening to him play, so you let him have at it until he’s sure he’s made you feel better. Before you leave, he kisses the back of your hand and tells you that he and his harp are yours whenever you need them.

@eidivine (starter call)
It’s the kind of summoning that would knock the air out of Jason, if he needed to breathe before summoning.  In fact, he nearly falls over once he’s standing on his own two feet, from how this ship is lurching.  It’s not a dangerous lurch from what he can tell yet, though, and so it’s not like he immediately hits the deck.  More likely that this metal approximation of a ship is just sailing through a storm, though it seems a much larger ship that any he knew in life.
Tumblr media
“Saber-” Jason grabs a table for stability when they go over a particularly large wave.  “Saber, Jason.  Where’s the helm on this ship?  Either I need to have a word with their awful excuse for a captain, or this is a huge freak storm.”

The Rise of Skywalker
This is a FULL review so do not read this if you do not want spoilers. To read a basic review please go HERE.
To give a quick backdrop of the state of mind I am in while writing this review, it is 2 AM the night after watching The Rise of Skywalker. I have been thinking of only TRoS since walking out of the theater, trying to process and absorb all my feelings about it. In general, I give this movie an 8/10 or 4 out of 5 death stars. While I wholeheartedly enjoyed the movie I still had some small issues that just added up. Edit* after watching it again 48 hours later, I have changed my review to 8.8/10 or 4.4 out of 5 death stars.
In my previous review, I mentioned that the pacing was very quick. The movie opens up with Kylo Ren absolutely destroying everyone and everything in his way to get a Sith Wayfinder. We immediately see that Kylo Ren is on his way to a new planet called Exegol where Sheev Palpatine is “alive,” but literally looks like a zombie marionette. IMMEDIATELY Palpatine welcomes Kylo Ren. Palpatine has been expecting him and how he has been controlling Ren from the beginning. He was Vader’s voice that Kylo heard, he was Snoke and now as a returned Emperor he will give Kylo Ren all the resources, a sith fleet, he needs to make the First Order the Final Order and kill Rey. I am going to just digress for a moment here and say that by the end of this series of events maybe fifteen minutes have passed in the movie and that includes the opening crawl. The crawl did nothing to prepare me for Palpatine to be the way he was and let me tell you that he looked terrifying. His body looked like it was decaying, he was missing fingers, his eyes were clouded over and he was literally being hoisted around like a puppet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Palpatine then tells Kylo Ren that if he truly wants to rule the galaxy, he needs to kill the girl (Rey), but to beware because she is not who Kylo thinks she is.
Continuing, we then find out that there is a message from a mole in the First Order which is retrieved by Poe and Finn on the Falcon. But where is Rey you might ask? Rey is being trained by Leia and our first shot of Rey is one of my favorites of her. Rey has been spending her time trying to connect with all the Jedi of the past by levitating herself and a bunch of rocks while she meditates. I do not do the shot justice, but in just a couple of seconds, the audience sees how powerful she has gotten. When she doesn’t connect and gets mopey about it, Leia does the coach thing and lets Rey take the Jedi equivalent of a lap which she does, but fails due to flashes of memories and visions of her childhood and a very brief glimpse of Dark Side Rey. Rey is very put off by this and gives Leia Luke’s lightsaber saying she has to earn the saber. Transmission over the radio from the mole signifies the start of rising action, the introduction of the Final Order and the total destruction of the remaining free systems. The resistance freaks out over the return of Palpatine “how is he back?” “Cloning, lol IDK.” We don’t really get an answer so my answer is, the dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. Well now the resistance needs to find him and nobody knows where...except Rey because she has been reading Luke’s diary. She says she doesn’t know where to find him, but she knows how because Luke was looking for a sith Wayfinder too and she will find (and kill) Palpatine with or without Leia’s blessing.
Flash forward to the desert where there is a dagger that can lead Chewbacca, C-3PO, Rey, Finn, and Poe to the Wayfinder. Rey heals a new creature, whose name I can not think of right now, which thanks to The Mandalorian ep 7 we know is a light side/Jedi ability which allows them to escape sinking sands and escape on a ship. This is also important for later in the movie. Well, the ship happens to be the same ship that Rey’s parents left on when she was a child. Also, this ship was captained by a sith sympathizer. Just as Rey, Finn, Poe, C-3PO, and Chewbacca start to leave Rey senses Kylo Ren coming in his tie fighter and waits for him. During this time the First Order has captured Chewbacca and the dagger and taken him on a transport ship. Rey uses the force to keep the ship from entering the atmosphere and Kylo simply plays with her and just starts using the force to propel the ship higher. Rey becomes enraged and OH MY GOD SHOOTS LIGHTNING OUT OF HER HANDS AND CAUSES THE SHIP TO EXPLODE! Sidebar: when Rey did that I was so absolutely shaken. I was both amazed by her ability and vexed that she had killed Chewbacca. In my other review, I said that some scenes seemed longer than they needed to be. Watching it, at the moment, I was wondering when something was going to happen because it felt like they could have continued their game of push and pull for the rest of the movie. Looking back I believe that scene was the perfect length. While the whole desert sequence maybe seemed/was too long, the build-up to Rey’s force lightning was perfect BECAUSE it was taking longer. You start thinking this is taking fore-OH, MY GOD!  EDIT* after watching it a second time the scene was shorter than I thought, but the first time I watched it, it felt like triple the time it actually was. The whole desert sequence, in my opinion, lasted too long.
Well with Chewbacca dead and no knife, the group must travel to a different planet to visit a black market droid hacker to retrieve the translation of the sith runes stuck in C-3PO’s memory. Well, why doesn’t C-3PO just tell them the translation? Because it would make the movie 20 minutes shorter and not require two other characters. Just kidding. C-3PO’s programing is forbidden to translate restricted languages i.e sith runes. This will cause a total memory wipe though. They go through with it and have to escape the planet because the Knights of Ren and Kylo Ren are coming. As they start to head out Rey senses Chewbacca on Kylo’s Star destroyer. He’s alive. There is dramatic irony because we, the audience, saw that Chewbacca survived because of the second craft in the desert. The group and a newly rebooted C-3PO go to Ren’s Star Destroyer.
Once there they split up. Rey goes to find the knife which she feels she needs while Poe and Finn go to find Chewbacca. The knife is in Ren’s chambers. Just as she finds it, Kylo and Rey connect via the force, Ren is on Kijimi while Rey is on the destroyer. Kylo taunts Rey about her lineage and if she still counts the days since her parents left her. While she fires back asking if he still sees his father. It gets to be too much for Rey and they start a really cool fighting sequence where we see just how powerful their connection is. They accidentally destroy a pedestal with Vader’s helmet and Kylo figures out where she is, he is going to tell her exactly who her parents are. Meanwhile, Poe and Finn managed to break Chewbacca out but were captured. They are about to be executed when Hux takes a blaster from a trooper saying he wants to do it. We hear three shots and the camera turns to Hux and three dead troopers to which he says “I’m the spy!” Finn and Poe are blown away. Hux takes them to where they are keeping the Falcon but tells Finn to shoot him in the arm. Finn shoots him in the leg. Finn asks why he’s helping. “I don’t care if you win, I need Kylo Ren to lose.”
Cut to Rey and Kylo Ren confronting each other on the destroyer. Rey is ready to fight, but Kylo is not fighting, he’s here to give her the news. She should join him, they are a dyad in the force, two parts of the same element. Her parents weren’t nobody but chose to be. Her parents sold her to protect her from her grandfather. Rey’s father was the so of Palpatine. Rey is a Palpatine. Kylo asks for her to join him, but she refuses and Poe and Finn show up with the Falcon allowing the whole group to escape.
We then see Hux on the bridge reporting to Pryde about how and why Finn and Poe escaped. Pryde seems calm and orders the people around him to alert the supreme leader. He then snatches a blaster out of a trooper’s hand turns and kills Hux. “We found the spy.” I thought this was very anticlimactic for Hux’s character.
The group heads toward the Endor system to find the Wayfinder as 3P0 said it would be there. The group crash lands and gets the help of former first order troopers. Rey, being impatient and more resolved than ever to rid the galaxy of Palpatine and the Sith takes a skimmer to the Death Star wreckage to find the Wayfinder. After climbing we see her in Palpatine’s throne room where she discovers a hidden door that leads to the Wayfinder. She is confronted by her dark side self who has filed teeth. She gets knocked out of the room, drops the Wayfinder and is confronted by Kylo Ren who tells her she can never go back for the same reasons he can’t go back. Rey is not going to be goaded and sternly tells him several times to give her the Wayfinder. He destroys it which causes Rey to attack. They have a spectacular fight, possibly one of my favorite fights in the entire saga. They are totally utilizing the force and doing moves we hadn’t seen. Eventually, Kylo gets the upper hand and is about to kill Rey when he sees a vision of his mother calling his name. He drops his saber, but Rey catches it and impales him as Leia dies. Rey sees what she’s done and retracts the saber. She heals Kylo Ren the same way she healed the serpent, telling him she did want to take his hand, Ben’s hand. She leaves in his tie fighter, leaving Kylo on the Death Star to mourn and contemplate.
Poe, Finn, Chewie, C-3PO, BB-8, and D-O make their way back to the Resistance Base where they demand to speak with Leia and are told she’s gone. Chewbacca has a heartbreaking reaction. Poe goes to pay respects to Leia and asks how she did it. Lando enters the room and tells him that they had each other, Luke, Han, Leia, and Lando. Poe realizes that he needs help and promotes Finn to general. The two of them begin preparations to confront the Final Order and the Sith Fleet.
Meanwhile, Kylo Ren is still on the Death Star thinking when he is confronted by the memory of Han. I was not expecting this at all and it was handled so well. The two mirror the conversation they had on the bridge of Star Killer base. Han tells him that while his mother is gone the beliefs she fought for are still there. “I know what I have to do but I don’t know if I have the strength to do it.” “Yes, you do.” Kylo Ren gets emotional, “Dad.” “I know.” He then turns and throws his lightsaber into the ocean, officially coming back to being Ben.
We then see Rey throwing logs onto a burning Tie Fighter, crying. She then takes out the lightsaber and chucks it into the flames, when Luke’s hand stretches out of the fire and catches it. He tells her a Jedi’s weapon deserves more respect. She tells him she is going to stay there forever like he did. Luke tells her he was wrong, that it was fear and that she doesn’t need to be afraid of who she is, Palpatine is just a name. Rey realizes Luke and Leia both knew who she was but trained her anyway because of her spirit, her heart. Luke then brings her to a hut where Rey discovers Leia’s lightsaber. Luke tells her that Leia gave it up when she sensed the death of her son but would be used again by someone else. Rey has no way of getting off the planet or finding Exegol to which Luke responds she has everything she needs. Rey goes back to the ashen Tie Fighter and retrieves the only remaining Wayfinder. Luke is then seen lifting his old X wing out of the water mirroring the attempt on Dagobah years before, instead this time Luke succeeds.
At this point, everything gets kicked into high gear. Rey goes to Exegol, the Resistance follows her signal. Rey goes to confront Palpatine. Who is ready and waiting for her. “Long have I waited for my granddaughter to come home.” He then says one of the coolest and bone-chilling lines in the whole movie. “Welcome Empress Palpatine.” Rey refuses to take the throne and become a sith, she will destroy the sith as a Jedi. Palpatine can sense her anger and hatred and tells her that’s what he wants because if she kills him with her hatred all the sith will pass on to her. Meanwhile, the Resistance is fighting the fleet with the planet-killing canons. Finn rides in on the backs of animals to fight and target the signal that was made to guide the fleet out. Ben shows up on Exegol ready to help. He runs into the Knights of Ren and fights them, getting his butt kicked due to his lack of a weapon. Palpatine shows Rey that her family is losing and the only way to stop it is to kill him. She reluctantly agrees knowing that this is the only way to save her friends. Rey and Ben sense each other and right as Rey is about to strike she sends the Skywalker lightsaber to Ben like a cool magic trick allowing him to defeat the Knights of Ren and Run to help Rey. Meanwhile, Lando has returned with Chewie on the Millenium Falcon and hundreds of ships answering the Resistance’s call for help.
Palpatine realizes he is going to get nowhere when Rey wields Leia’s old saber and Ben wields the Skywalker saber. Palpatine decides he is going to kill them. But while using the Force on them he gets healed and finds out they are a dyad in the Force. Two parts of a whole. There combined souls give Palpatine strength and he reforms and heals himself in a way that reverse mirrors the healing ability. Instead of giving life, he takes it. Rey and Ben collapse, appearing dead. He sits on the throne of the Sith and casts Force Lightning, causing all resistance ships to short circuit. Ben starts to stagger up but Palpatine uses the Force to throw the last Skywalker down a chasm in his own twisted sense of poetic justice. Rey opens her eyes and sees the destruction happening in the sky. She tries to connect with all the Jedi of the Past while we zoom past the fighting into the atmosphere and into space when we suddenly hear the voices of the past Jedi giving me major Avatar: The Last Airbender series finale vibes. They all call out to her telling her that they are with her as all the Jedi were with them, telling her to get up and fight. This is truly a beautiful scene, an emotional one that tugs at your childhood. Rey stands up, weak but ready to fight. Palpatine uses force lightning, just playing with her telling her she can’t defeat him, he is all the Sith. Rey uses Leia’s lightsaber to block the lightning with ferocity. She tells him “And I. I am all the Jedi.” she uses the Force to pull the Skywalker saber toward her and she crosses them and advances forward causing the lightning to redirect and as she gets closer Palpatine disintegrates like Thanos snapped his fingers. The Resistance has defeated the fleet by officially destroying the leading ship and take out the planet-killing cannons causing them to explode.
Rey has completed the battle and retracts the sabers. She drops them one by one until she collapses. Dead. Finn senses it and suddenly stops and leans against a wall saying, “Rey.” I had been rooting for Rey since the beginning of the trilogy so this scene got me. I started getting tears in my eyes. Not because of the scene, but because she did it. Despite the odds being stacked against her more or less from the beginning. Because of the terrible life she lived before the events of TFA. We then hear Ben climb out of the chasm. How he survived, I do not know. He sees Rey’s body and begins to crawl to her as quickly as he can. He picks her up and cradles her while he tries to not cry. He then remembers the healing ability and heals her. She wakes up, smiles and calls him by his real name. “Ben.” They kiss, and Ben smiles, content with the way things turned out when he slumps over and we realize that Ben has died. In a really sweet moment, Ben and Leia’s bodies disappear simultaneously becoming one with the Force, at peace.
Rey and the Resistance meet back up with a tearful celebratory embrace amongst Finn, Poe, and Rey. Celebrations on various systems including Endor are seen. Chewie finally gets a medal, given to him by Maz.
The final scene of the movie is of Rey on Tattoonie at the Lars moisture farm where Luke grew up. She looks around and then buries Luke and Leia’s lightsabers deep in the sand. My first thought was ok so she did not just connect with all the past Jedi just to end the order by hiding the lightsabers. Then she pulled out another lightsaber. This is her own. She ignites it and it’s yellow/orange like Cal Kestis’ could be from fallen order. I’m uneasy about the color, but I’m just glad it’s still there nonetheless. A woman remarks that nobody has been at that farm for many years and wants her name. She says, Rey. The old woman probes more, “Rey who?” She looks in the distance and walking toward her are the force ghosts of Luke and Leia. “Rey Skywalker.” They smile lovingly at her. The final shot is Rey and BB-8 standing in front of a beautiful binary sunset. With that, the Skywalker saga comes to a beautiful full circle end.
I’ve read and watched some reviews where people were upset at Rey calling herself Skywalker. I loved it though. First of all, that’s what I wanted from the beginning, Rey Skywalker. But more importantly, it signifies that Rey got to choose her family. Rey chose to honor the people who took her in and loved her. Family is more than your blood. Rey Skywalker is so much better than Rey Palpatine. Rey Skywalker honors all the actions and sacrifices made by ALL the Skywalkers, Ben included. While I understand that some people did not like it, I personally did.
I have questions though that were just not answered.
What was Finn going to tell Rey while they were in the sinking fields? EDIT*: It was revealed that Finn was going to tell Rey he is force sensitive and I like that a lot more than the idea of Finn telling Rey he loved her. I could see why people thought he was going to say that, but I like the idea of the Force Sensitivity more.
Now that there is no more First Order to fight, what will Poe and Finn do?
What will Rey do?
Where does Rey go?
Will Rey train Finn as a Jedi now that we know for sure he is force sensitive?
Will Rey train other Jedi inductees?
If BB-8 is with Rey on Tatooine does that mean Poe is with her?
I do have a list of the things I did not like
The pacing- this could have easily been an Endgame length swan song and because JJ did so much to course correct from TLJ that we got so much information in such a short time. I needed a 4-hour long movie with slower parts to let my brain catch up. *EDIT* there are pretty credible rumors of a 185-minute cut and this is what I needed. Also, it makes it longer than Endgame at 181.
All the new characters that were introduced had such limited screen time. This goes with the above but a longer movie would have allowed more time for the new characters who I thought were so cool.
I’m going to get some serious hate here but...I did not like the Ben/Rey kiss. It seemed a bit much and a hug could have been so much more intimate in my opinion. Now, I hated Kylo Ren from the beginning, though he was plain evil, how he brought Rey back from the dead and died in her place was *kisses fingers* Que Bella, and an intimate hug would have pushed me over the top.
I wish Rey being Palpatine’s granddaughter was revealed later in the film. It could have hit harder and been a bigger shock. That knowledge in the back of my mind kept eating at me for the last two acts of the movie and sometimes it was all I could think about.
A list of things I absolutely loved
The lightning Rey shoots- just so freaking cool how she did that man. It was so unexpected.
The lightsaber fights. They seemed so different from the others.
“Empress Palpatine”-chills for days
The “match cut” shots of Han and Ben on the Death Star and how the scene was slightly different but ended in the total opposite of TFA. And MAJOR PROPS to the cast and crew keeping Harrison Ford’s part on the DL.
Leia and Ben dissolving like true Jedi
Tumblr media
Daisy Ridley making me think she was actually dead for like 5 minutes. A+ acting.
Ben’s full smile.
Light Rey vs Darth Reydar
The force healing ability and the life-draining ability
“General.” “General.”
C-3PO. He kind of annoyed me the whole saga, but the comedic timing and the performance that was given was just so good.
ALL the Jedi speaking to Rey, I mean: Luke Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, Qui-Gon Jinn, Mace Windu, Aayla Secura, Adi Gallia, Ahsoka Tano, and Kanan Jarus all telling Rey to get up. Just beautiful and helped tie all three trilogies, TV shows, and novels together.
The Force abilities we had not seen before in the main movies. Weirdly enough I also have a “problem” with this. I really like the new powers, but I wish we had seen them more evenly distributed over the trilogy or the whole saga. But in general, I loved them. They had a purpose and that made it worthwhile.
Ben becoming one with the Force.
“Rey Skywalker”- so nice. so beautiful.
The full circle. The Skywalker story starts on Tatooine and ends on Tatooine and I love how poetic it is.
Things I would have done differently. Well, first let me begin by saying that anything I would have done differently is more or less of a minor change.
Rey’s lineage revealed- I’m still a little uneasy about her being a Palpatine, but I’ve accepted it. I just wish the reveal had been later, as I stated before. JJ having to reveal it early in the film is probably a way to undo/clarify what Rian Johnson did in The Last Jedi.
I wish Rose had a bigger part. I like what they did with her, but I wish it was more. Rose’s character was more sure of herself and I liked that so much more than the character we met in The Last Jedi. I’m not saying she needed her own side mission, but a couple more scenes with her at the center would have been great. Maybe she is leading a meeting or getting a squad ready, I don’t know, but just a couple more scenes. Kelly got absolutely trashed because of how, in my opinion, poor her character was written and some more scenes like the way Rose is now would have had great fan turn around I believe.
There would be no Reylo. I do not and have not shipped Reylo ever in this whole trilogy. I still don’t. I will yield to the fact that there were canon feelings for each other. I, however, would not have had that. Ideally, everything would have been the same, but instead of kissing after Ben saved Rey, there would have been a platonic hug, a friendly but loving embrace between two people who have fought for the same ideals and have had a roller coaster of a relationship. I feel like it would have been more impactful and a MUCH harder punch to the gut when he dies. I didn’t ship Rey with anybody because she was one of those characters to me that didn’t have to have a male counterpart. I’m not a huge Marvel fan, but I thought the same about Black Widow. I just didn’t see a need for romance or a romantic relationship.
Hux’s secret and death. Like Rey’s lineage being revealed I thought killing Hux so early may have been a mistake. The last scene with Hux before he was killed was extremely humerus and they could have kept something like it, but having General Pryde kill him after felt wasted. There were a lot of potentials. What I would have loved to have seen Hux sabotage something big, try to kill Pryde or whatever. I just thought it was an anticlimactic death, once it was said and done. The actual death came as a shock, but looking back I wish it had been more meaningful and bigger. This character had been built up to be one of the most “hated” characters and I just felt like his death should have been bigger and not just a shock.
The final battle. I wish it had lasted longer. This is supposed to be THE battle to end all battles. This is the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga and the final battle against Rey and Palpatine lasted like 15-20 minutes. I just wish it had been longer. Maybe a whole duel between Rey and Palpatine or Rey, Ben, and Palpatine.
The Jedi talking to her. I would have shown their astral bodies, their Force ghosts. The scene was beautiful in its simplicity, but to be able to see the Jedi would have been the icing on the cake. To see them give Rey their power to connect to the Force would have been very moving for many fans. Star Wars Theory on youtube has a pretty neat video about how that scene could have gone with the Force ghosts, I highly suggest you check it out.
Leia as a Jedi. While hardcore fans knew about this due to Legends, the casual fan would have been shocked. We saw Leia use the force in The Last Jedi, and I appreciate how JJ expanded on that. He did not leave anything unanswered. I do not know if that was ever going to make it into the mainstream movies i.e if this was going to be done all along, or if this was JJ’s answer to Leia using the Force in the Last Jedi, but I think it was done really well, and the CGI in that scene made me think I was looking at a young Mark and Carrie/ Luke and Leia. In general, this is a whole series “I would have done it differently.” We can keep Leia training to be a Jedi, but I would have planted that seed much earlier in the trilogy or even the saga. I think that the scene in TLJ would have gotten a better reputation if more seeds were planted.
The final scene- I understand why it was Luke and Leia, but I would have loved to see the whole Skywalker clan up there. Anakin, Luke, Leia, and Ben all smiling lovingly at Rey, the adopted Skywalker.
Before I conclude this review I want to make it clear about a few things.
I am not getting anything from anyone for doing this, this is purely out of enjoyment and so people can read a review.
I feel like I have been bashing on The Last Jedi a lot in this review, and while I liked the TLJ as a movie, I did not like it as a Star Wars movie. It is one of my least favorite in the entire Star Wars franchise. BUT, if you liked it, awesome. That is the best part about Star Wars, people can have different opinions. Without those opinions, we wouldn’t have some of the discussions that we have brought up.
This film was not perfect. It had flaws, it had things I wanted to happen differently, it had parts I did not even want to happen. This movie was a well done, emotionally exhilarating, visually stunning work of art that showed the heart the whole team that works on the Skywalker Saga put into this film. This film was 42 years in the making and like a thank, you note to the fans. To be honest, it is hard for me to accept that this is the conclusion of a series that I have loved so much. It reminds me of when I finished Harry Potter or Percy Jackson and just couldn’t believe that this was the end. This is not to say that this is the last Star Wars movie. We know of an unnamed 4th Trilogy that Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are rumored to be involved with after the success of The Mandalorian. Rian Johnson is rumored to be working on more Star Wars projects as well. This is not the end of Star Wars, but to me, it is still like saying goodbye to a friend.
Please tell me what you thought of the film. Leave your responses. Do you agree or disagree with my opinions? I’d love to hear from you.
