unconventional gender neutral terms of endearment ^^
(mostly made this cause my drafts always have "baby" a million times and then i replace them lol)
- pretty (as in pretty girl/boy, but without the gender word attached) - starlight/my star, sunshine - honestly if you put "my" before anything it could probably work as an endearment - animals: firefly (got the idea from sufjan stevens), bunny, dove, mouse, hamster, hummingbird, penguin, monkey 😭, kitten (this one's kinda popular) - flowers: tulip, rose, sunflower, a flower that's special between your characters - fruits/vegetables: pumpkin, bean, mango, lychee, kiwi, peach, nectarine, apricot, berry(!!), blueberry, strawberry, raspberry, cherry, etc - sweets! a special weakness of mine is sweets from the person saying the endearment's culture. like if someone who was also indian called me their kaju katli i'd melt (but probably not laddu unless it's clear they're teasing and i get back at them 💀). maybe runs the risk of being cringey tho? honestly as long as it's from the sayer's culture and suits their personality it's fine - examples of sweets that don't belong to a certain culture: cookie, brownie - nature: snowflake, raindrop?? (i guess it works if your character has something to do with water), sprout, sapling
and here's some classic gn terms of endearment if your character's more into that: - darling (i see this as a perfect alternative to princess/prince) - love/my love - lovely/beautiful - baby/babe (can be used in both cute and teasing/suggestive moods) - angel (personal favorite of mine!) - dear (it's so "grown old together" vibes, i'm in love with this one for this purpose) - honey, honey pie, sugar, sweet(ie). honestly if they're used for s/os, it feels kinda old-fashioned. but for parent figures saying it to someone much younger that they care about, children or otherwise? (i'm imagining a southern (from america) beekeeper with no children or spouse of her own who sells her famous honey to buy food for the small army of orphaned children that shows up on her front porch every morning for breakfast. and these are the kinds of things she'd call them. perfection.)

Fruit headcanons - Fruit they love, fruit they hate
Tumblr media
This is based on a conversation with the lovely @wolvesandhoundshowltogether. The credit for August’s love for sinful red fruits goes to Marta as well. Thank you for indulging in my silliness, baby ❤️ in a summer mood. Summer=fruits! 🍑🍒🍓
no warnings, this is all sfw ❤️
🥝🍏🥥🍎🍐🍊🍋🍌🍉🍇🍓🫐🍈🍒🍑🥭🍍
Mike likes peaches. They’re juicy and sweet, almost like candy. He prefers nectarines though, the skin is less fuzzy. He also likes watermelon, strawberries and cherries. He only touches apples in the shape of apple pie. He doesn’t like many fruits to begin with, but he absolutely despises grapes, blueberries and raspberries, because each time he tried them as a kid, they always were mushy. And he would never in his life touch a banana. ...Is pizza a fruit?
Sy loves peaches, obviously. They’re his favourite. Otherwise he’s not picky. Apricots are in his top ten. But he doesn’t like… absolutely hates citrus. The taste is okay, but he hates the texture.
Walter on the other hand loves citrus. Oranges, tangerines, grapefruit, even pomelo. He loves them all. He also really likes mangos and figs. Hates watermelons. It tastes like sweet cucumber to him… No thanks, he’ll pass.
August likes fruits that are red and sinful. Cherries, pomegranate are among his favourites. He also really likes both pink grapefruit and pink pineapple. Passion fruit, too. Not sure if it counts as fruit, but he hates, absolutely despises coconut.
Geralt likes the fruit he can find on the Path. They are rare, but he is always happy to find raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, the occasional apple or pear when he passes an orchard. And for obvious reasons, he likes gooseberries. It’s not that he hates it, but he doesn’t like fruits that are more exotic than what he is used to. Call it caution. He can never know if the fruit is poisonous… or if he is allergic to it. He learned that the hard way… he curses those cherries!
Will likes papayas, mangos, oranges, pineapples, peaches, grapes… you name it. In sunny San Francisco, he takes every fruit he can get his hands on. Running between meetings, the juicy treats are a welcome refreshment. He makes sure to always keep some pre-cut in the little fridge he has in his office. He hates plums, though.
Napoleon likes tropical fruits. The less known it is, the better! Lychees and dragon fruit are among his favourites.Star fruits, dates and mangosteen are a luxury he got used to. But don’t get him to try kiwi. He hates kiwi.
Clark tries hard to pass as human. His favourite fruits are those considered the favourite fruits of most of humanity. Apples, bananas, mangos. He might include in a conversation that tomatoes and olives are fruits. He likes those too. He could never understand the hype around strawberries, though. To him they smell and look like they should taste so much better than they actually do.
Sherlock is curious by nature. So he tries lots of different fruits imported to England: passion fruit, peaches, oranges. Of homegrown fruits he is used to cherries, apples and pears, and the expensive figs. You can chase him with rhubarb. He hates that stuff.

random food hc’s for Kyrie because I’m hungry:
Kyrie’s favorite fruits are pomegranates, nectarines, strawberries, peaches, plums, apples, and blackberries.
Other than Greek food, she loves Indian and Italian food.
Her favorite American food is usually barbecued stuff, such as ribs and sausages. She also loves apple pie, s’mores, mac n cheese, and fried chicken.
She does NOT like mayonnaise. At all. Hamburgers aren’t something she enjoys, but she’ll eat them around company just to be polite. She probably douses it in sauce, though.
Her favorite breakfast foods include avgofetes (the Greek equivalent of French toast) with feta and honey, and crepes with fresh fruit.
Her favorite Greek/Cypriot foods include (but are not limited to) souvla (barbecued meat), gyros, sheftalia (a type of sausage), makarónia tou foúrnou (the Cypriot equivalent of mac n cheese), and loukoumia (the Cypriot equivalent of a Turkish delight).
Her favorite meats are seafood and pork. She especially enjoys octopus and salt cod. She enjoys all sorts of cheeses. She tends to also have a bit of a sweet tooth.

Thess vs Staffing Issues
It’s taking me some time to figure out how to frame my answer to the question “how was your day?” just now. Because honestly, work is weird.
So. You know how I was saying that we were pretty heavily understaffed for a lot of this week? Well, most of that is actually done and dusted, and Temp won’t actually even be a temp for much longer (though I’m going to call her that anyway, because she’s only committing to a six-month contract and also I’m fed up with her still leaving the complicated typing for other people). However, some of that understaffing is ... kinda permanent.
Summary: Sid quit.
Slightly expanded summary: look, Sid’s got health issues - different ones to the ones I have, but let’s just say I am not the only person who was asking about working from home. Thing is, that whole situation has been kicked into the tall grass for about a year now, as I think I mentioned. That and some other stuff basically got Sid writing what I’m told was a truly epic verbal beatdown email and walking out.
Thing is? The only reason any of us found out about this is because Temp happened to have seen Sid’s ... let’s be kind and say ‘resignation email’. Scruffman didn’t mention that Sid had even left, never mind the circumstances. Which, honestly, is exactly what we’re getting about his previous manager - the one between Scruffman and Head Honcho on the managerial totem pole; the one who was dealing with all my occupational health stuff. That particular manager just ... wasn’t in one day, and the only reason I heard about it was because I had a regular meeting scheduled with her once a fortnight and I had to be told that it wasn’t going to happen “for the foreseeable future”. But that was it - I didn’t know whether it was ill health, she was fired, she quit, what.
Now, Scruffman took a half-day today - came in early specially and left as soon as I came in. Which means that the conversation around the office was very much about Scruffman being ... well, a really poor communicator and unutterably avoidant about things. I mean, this was the man who told my temp agency that they were terminating my contract but didn’t bother mentioning that to me, figuring the agency would do it (and the agency should have, but you’d think that after months of doing an excellent job, he’d have at least said, “It’ll be a shame to see you go” at some point before close of play Friday afternoon). The others have similar stories. But he also throws a bit of a fit if someone talks to Head Honcho about a situation. Like, it came up that I’d emailed Head Honcho about the work from home thing and Scruffman, to whom I hadn’t even been speaking at the time, said, “I was handling that!”
Yeah, well, you should have kept me updated, then. If I get no answers, I’ll just try another avenue. That is what a secretary does.
So leave us simply say that the atmosphere’s a little fraught at the office right now and I don’t think I’ll be seeing the Tiny God of Random Days Off for awhile. At least not until and unless they replace Sid. Which I hope they do because our typing queue is still in triple-figures and I’m getting saddled with more of the long typing than I am able for on bad days because Temp avoids them, and we need someone to take that particular burden off me because gods know Temp’s not giving up her cherry-picking ways. Anyway, without the full house that Sid allowed us, no more random days off.
On the bright side, I have strawberries and nectarines in the dehydrator, and I made my very first risotto, which is gorgeous and has left me with many leftovers. However, mental note - don’t make risotto when tired. It’s not exactly difficult but it requires time and handling stuff in stages and is fiddly. Next up: cottage pie (like shepherd’s pie except ground beef instead of ground lamb).

Summer List 2023
Tumblr media
Summer is awful for countless reasons, but let me count a few. Sun burns, endless humidity, children off school so they’re everywhere, the worry that you’re not enjoying it as much as everyone else, mosquitos that somehow get through my window screens, overcrowded patios, the underground hot, stagnant air that accompanies any subway wait. I could go on, but this is getting depressing.
On the other hand, there are the tiniest amount of great things about this, the worst season of all. Summer rainstorms, late sunsets, pools, frozen pina coladas, sandal tan lines, oh hell the perfect corn and tomatoes and nectarines and strawberries. Christ, I always forget about the produce, it’s unmatched. That being said, let’s try to get through these next three months as best we can until the sweet scent of September arrives.
Here’s what I’d love to do this summer (in addition to watching some of these and definitely some of these).
Bake some sort of tomato pie.
Go jet skiing.
Eat at the new Superiority Burger.
Finally visit Smorgasburg.
Swim at least five times.
Tumblr media
As always, I encourage you to make a list of your own because as I’ve said before - we are all barreling towards death. So have some fun.
If you’re looking for some ideas for yourself, here are some past summer lists I’ve made: 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017 and 2015.

I’ve had such a good day today all alone just doing my thing. I’ve cooked all my meals, drank so much tea, got a handful of little chores done that I’ve been putting off, watched a few episodes of American Dad, lemon and vinegar cleaned the kitchen, took a nap, read a book, snuggled the cats, made a strawberry pie, about to sit down and do some writing… I needed this reset. We are gonna be running around pretty much all day tomorrow. But getting this today relaxed me a lot.
the food thing was really nice tho because i've felt not great the last couple of weeks with not sticking to our meal plan and picking up food cause we don't feel like cooking which means food waste. stuff has gone down with the fam and it's causing stress. but i'm going to do a clean month (fingers crossed, fam) of aiming for no alcohol or fast food. i put the meals from today under the cut cause i love sharing food ideas.
breakfast
sliced radishes with some italian dressing
a mix of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and sliced nectarine
some sliced "vampire slayer" cheese - it is garlic infused!
pimento olives
grape tomatoes
lunch
impossible burger pattie
quinoa
sautéed spinach
dinner
impossible burger pattie
rosemary and thyme mushrooms
roasted crispy potatoes
dessert
strawberry pie slice

Wedding Food Catering: Types of Summer Desserts
Dusting your ice cream maker for new action or baking a sumptuous pie from scratch may seem like a daunting task on a lazy summer afternoon. But, there is no other season that will handsomely reward your efforts like summer. If you have your family together or are preparing for a summer wedding food catering, here are the top dessert options you should consider.
The classic ice cream sandwich
This is one of the heartiest yet easy-to-make summer desserts. The main components are chocolate chip cookie dough and vanilla ice cream. You can make the ingredients at home or purchase them from the store. Make a dozen cookies and fill them up with ice cream. Put them in the fridge to chill and enjoy. If you are making these sandwiches for wedding food catering, doing individual pieces can be daunting. Instead, bake two large cookies in a large 8x8 inches baking pan, then cut them into square sandwiches.
Strawberry shortcake
You cannot let summer go without treating your family to a sumptuous strawberry shortcake. This recipe keeps the process super simple by using shortcake and home whipped cream that makes the berries show what they are worth. Instead of using the traditional dough that requires kneading, cutting and re-rolling, use the drop biscuit recipe as it is faster and does not require these processes.
Fruit Crumbles of all Sorts
The oversupply of berries in June and July can be overly exciting. And wedding food catering is a perfect way to use them. Toss them into a large mix bowl, adding lemon juice, cornstarch, and some sugar, topping the mix with a crumble topping. You can make them in several batches to ensure you have enough for all guests. You can also make this home and freeze some while waiting for the late summer nectarines.
Nothing beats the warmth of the above-summer sweet treats. They are even more suited for wedding food catering as they are not drippy and messy to eat.

AOT HEADCANON: their fav fruits
Mentioned: Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Jean, Connie, Sasha, Reiner, Hange
!Back on my stupid headcanons!
Not edited. I’m posting this as I’m starting class LOL
Eren: Eren is a big banana and blueberry boy. He chokes down bananas in like three bites, puts them in smoothies AT ROOM TEMP 😭 eren gives me room temperature fruit smoothie vibes and I don’t love it. He’ll buy a bunch unripe bananas and then eat his ripe batch so that in a few days he can new ripe bananas. He dumps so many blueberries in his oatmeal
Armin: Armin loves yellow peaches and nectarines. They’re seasonal, and there’s a finite window where they’re fresh, and perfectly ripe. It’s a challenge every spring/summer for Armin and he loves to bake with them, putting them in a pie or making jams with them so he can remember the taste of his favourite fruits in the winter. He ACHES to go to farmers markets and buy loads of fresh fruit every year
Mikasa: Mikasa likes pomegranates seeds. Mikasa usually buys them from the frozen section of grocery stores and will usually treat herself to a bowl of them at the end of the night. They’re crunchy, cold, and tarte. Sometimes she’ll drown them in cranberry juice or orange juice for extra sweetness but Mikasa will throw down a bag of pomegranate seeds in 3 days, easily.
Jean: Jean loves bananas and raspberries. Jean LOVES raspberries, they remind him of his childhood and everytime he buys a container he eats them slowly — treating them as if they’re rare gold. Then he realizes, he’s an adult, and he lives alone. He can eat as many raspberries as he wants becuase he’s the only one who’s going to eat them. Jean loves bananas on peanut butter toast, or in a protein shake. He freezes them and makes gym bro pseudo desserts with them — that Splenda, xyntham gum, banana “ice cream” shit
Connie: Connie loves mangos and pineapple. Connie DIES for a good mango, he loves them. He’s obsessed with mangoes as they are but you give him mango pudding, candies, DRIED MANGO, he’s going in. He loves the McDonald’s mango pineapple smoothie even if it’s not real fruit. And he’ll gorge on pineapple until he gets canker sores all over his mouth
Sasha: Sasha loves berries… she’s a berry girl, tell me otherwise! She’ll eat an entire container of strawberries if they’re ripe— stem and all. There is no wasting with her. Blackberries and raspberries are her favourite to eat in the summer time and she finds ways to put them in everything. In drinks, in oatmeal, desserts, she’s *tried* to make jam but usually gets Armin to help her.
Reiner: Reiner is a melon man for sure. Watermelon, cantaloupe, honey dew, canary melon. He loves them all. He’ll do the dad tap on all the watermelons a — trying to see which ones are ripe 💀✋🏼 he finds the process of depitting the honey dew and cantaloupe really satisfying too! If he really tried he could break a watermelon w this thighs
Hange: Hange likes cherries. They WILL eat an entire bag if they’re unsupervised. Hange loves making cherry pies — depitting each cherry and sugaring them to make a pie for Levi which he will not eat becuase it’s too sweet for him. They don’t really make it for Levi though — it’s more about Hange’s desire to conquer every domestic activity ever.
