sum. Jungkook was the adopted hybrid pup of the new family who had just moved into the second unit of the duplex your family lived in. The moment they brought him home as a kid, he was attached to you and you to him. Growing up, you thought he’d change, but even as highschoolers, he’s still as attached as ever.

a/n: Really, just a blurb that got way longer than I indented it to (this was supposed to be a drabble mmk) of Dog Hyrbid Kook being adorable bc @kpopgirlbtssvt forced my hand (this isn’t proofread, oops)

“Y/n! come out here and meet the new neighbors!” You perked your head up from your small, plastic desk that you sat out, a plethora of crayons littered across it with scribbles of colors that absolutely didn’t stay in the lines of the coloring book picture you were busy filling in. Your hair pulled back- courtesy of your father and his love of hairdressing- as you sat in your favorite, yellow t-shirt and blue overalls.

Hopping up, you ran outside to your mother. The springtime was the perfect time to keep the front door open and open the window of the storm door, and that’s exactly what your mother did was she was out satisfying her green thumb for gardening. Pushing open the storm door latch that you could just barely reach, you pushed the door open and ran to your mother down the few steps of your porch.

Your family lived in one half of the two-unit duplex in the middle of the city.

You had often complained that you had no kids to play within the neighborhood unless you went to the park- which was too far to go to daily. You were a bit of a tomboy, always climbing trees, getting down in the dirt and even fascinated with bugs of some kind. It was hard to connect with other little girls sometimes and the boys would tease you, so you often pouted as you scribbled at your desk or was out in the garden with your mother.

Finally, at your mother’s side, you clung to her long skirt she wore, burying your face into it with a giggle before you looked around her leg when she pets your head. You looked at the middle-aged couple in front of you. Two women stood there as they interlocked their fingers, and smiled down at the adorable 5-year-old that was you, decked out in yellow and denim.

“Y/n, this is Sheryl and Lidia. They’re going to be our new neighbors starting today.” Your mother told you as she pats your back, encouraging you to let go and face them properly. “What do you say to them?”

You shyly opened your mouth, hands still clutched in your mother’s skirt fabric.

“It’s nice to meet you,” you all but whispered as the three women all giggled at your wavering, shy voice.

One woman came and knelt close to you as you tried your best to make eye contact with her. She was very pretty- not as pretty as your mom, but a close second you decided. Tanned skin and big brown eyes with hair more frizzier than yours when you roughly towel-dried it.

“My name is Sheryl, it’s nice to meet you Y/n.” You only nodded back before she was looking over her shoulder to the moving van in the driveway. “Jungkook! Come over here and say hello!” She called.

You watched as the van door slid open and a little boy jumped out. Placing his sneaker covered feet on the pavement, he kicked forward until he ran face-first into Sheryl’s back. Pushing his face into her back and giggling lightly- he seemed no older than you. Just a small little kid.

“Jungkook,” Sheryl called, making the young boy pop his head up and peek around his first mother’s shoulder. You lightly gasped in a fit of silent awe when you saw the small, triangular dog ears perked upon his head. You had hybrid kids at your school, but they were all kept in separate classes from you and your peers, something you whined about but you wanted a hybrid friend really bad.

His face dusted in rose as he saw a little girl staring at him.

“This is Y/n, she’s going to be living next to us, so you’ve got to be nice and friendly to her. Okay?” Jungkook nodded as he looked at you. He was always shy around girls, not comfortable around them enough. When he was adopted by his mothers’, it took him over a week to open start acting like their son. They treated him like any other son- hybrid or not.

Eventually, the women migrated inside so your mother could introduce the two ladies to your father. You were awkwardly stood in the front yard with Jungkook as he looked at his toes and kicked at nothing, fiddling with his thumbs. You watched his small, black tall sway slightly back and forth as his ears dropped to a curl.

“Sooo,” you started, startling the poor pup as he jumped. “What kind of dog are you?” You asked, trying to remember what your mother taught you about being polite and asking things delicately.

“I-I’m a Kelpie,” he mumbled. Your eyes lit up, delighted he even replied to you.

“What do you do for fun? Do you like playing outside?” You asked carefully. If he didn’t, you wouldn’t push the issue. You really wanted to play though and what better play partner than your new little boy neighbor?

“Yeah,” he whispered, “I like to play tag a lot.”

“Then, lets play!” Your voice spiked to a shout. You quickly covered your mouth with your palm when you watched Jungkook jump and back away from you slightly. “Sorry,” you apologized. “We don’t have to.” Your voice lowered in dejections, figuring you came on too strong like you normally did. You watched as Jungkook slowly came closer to you and grabbed a hold of your overalls at the side.

He was looking at his feet, face red as his ears folded in anxiety and his tail swished.

“You’re it,” he told you before you laughed and the chase was on.

“Y/n! Can you do me a favor!” You heard your mother call from the bottom floor of the duplex you’ve lived in your entire 18-year life. Pushing up from your desk and gleefully abandoning the physics textbook you had been studying before, you called back.

“Coming!” Running down the stairs, staring at your feet the whole way to avoid any chance of falling down them, you rounded the corning and waltzed into the kitchen. Passing your father in the living room on the way. Your mother was busy cooking away at dinner, a pot a pasta boiling and chicken baking in the oven to crumb covered perfection. “What’s up?”

“I think I forgot something over at Lidia’s the other day. Some seasoning when we were making that new chicken parmesan dish; I cannot find it for the life of me. Would you run over and see if she’s got it?” You nodded.

“Sure thing. I’ll be like 5 minutes,” you told her. Heading to the front door, you slipped on a pair of slippers with dog ears on them before you left. Walking down and around the yard to the unit front door directly next to yours.

Knocking, the door opened to show Lidia herself. More aged than all those years ago, but still rocking for her age. You lightly waved to her.

“Hello, Y/n. What can I do for you?” She asked.

“Mom said she may have left some seasoning her the other day. She asked me to see if you still had it. She’s cooking up a storm and you know how picky she is when it comes to seasoning,” you chuckled.

“Oh, darling I know. Sheryl and I never get tired of teasing her. Come on in, I’ll go check my cabinets.” She invited you in as you stepped through the door and inside. “Jungkook is up in his room if you want to say hello,” she offered.

You didn’t say no. Jungkook was your longest-standing friend- dare you say your best friend. Although you’ve both grown up and are in your last year of high school, some things haven’t changed. You still had a problem with connecting to some people, but the opposite was in his case. He couldn’t be more of a people magnet if he tried. Ever the smooth talker and with his charisma and unfair good looks, his popularity skyrocketed after middle school.

Bounding up the stairs, you weren’t even able to knock on his door when it swung open revealing the bubbly boy himself.

“Y/n!” He sang as he flung into your chest, koala latching himself onto you. That was also something that hadn’t changed. When he would get comfortable with someone, all personal space boundaries vanished. He literally didn’t understand personal space- but you didn’t particularly mind.

He always smelt so nice and he was warm when he hugged you. Not to mention, he was just the best damn hugger. The small crush you had on him definitely didn’t help matters. Though, you never let it get to your head. He was cuddly by nature, being spoiled by his mothers and his K9 instincts telling him that people weren’t the enemy unless they did something just plain awful.

He pushed his nose into your neck before he pulled away from you, smiling as he held one of your hands.

“What’re you doing here?” He asked.

“Mom forgot something here the other day, so I’m picking it up. I figured I should say hi while I’m here since someone doesn’t have time to visit me anymore.” You teased. He’s been wrapped up in the choir club recently. They have a competition coming up soon and he’s been practicing for it nearly every day with his instructor. He pouted. “I’m joking!” You laughed.

“You know I miss you. I tell you every day,” he told you with a pout. It was true. He’d literally facetime you everyday whining that he was too busy to see you. It was a sentiment you appreciated and you assumed he did with all his close friends. His best friend in the art club always whined that Jungkook called you more than him, a complaint you didn’t really believe.

“Y/n!” You heard Lidia call. “I found that seasoning dear!”

“Alright, I’m coming!” You called back before looking at the now pathetic looking Jungkook who stood in a slouched pout. You reached up and scratched at his ears that he had grown into so well. His tail swishing behind him. “Don’t pout. You’ll see me tomorrow at school.”

“But you take the bus to school! I get there so early in comparison.”

“That’s a you problem,” you laughed as you pulled your hand away from him and started back down the stairs, waving him off. Taking the seasoning and thanking the woman, you returned home.

The next morning you sat at the bus stop, headphones plugged into your ears as you waited. Someone plopped down beside you- nothing unusual- before they yanked one of your earbuds out. Ready to bit the head off of whoever dared, you stopped yourself before you started. Beside you sat Jungkook- the same Jungkook who absolutely hated the bus.

“Good morning!” He sang. “I wanted to go to school with you today.” He chirped as he yawned and put his head on your shoulder. You just rolled your eyes as you continued scrolling on your phone.

When the bus came and you loaded onto it, Jungkook plopped himself down next to you and replaced his head back on your shoulder, even slinging his arm over your lap to keep you closer to him as the bus jostled you both around. Dozing off and on, he watched as you read something other another on your phone screen.

“Hey,” he whispered lightly you barely heard it. You hummed at him. “You’re going to come to the competition this weekend, right? For choir?”

“Well, that depends,” you put your phone down, patting at the hand that sat in your lap. “Do you want me to, Pup?” He giggled lightly, the older than thou nickname of his youth only you were allowed to call him making him giddy. He nodded against your shoulder, snuggling into it more- not giving two flying acorns at who may be scoffing at his display of public affection for his favorite human.

“Yeah, I do.”

“Then, I’ll be there.”

The school day went as it always did as you hung around Jungkook and his group of 6 other guy pals. All strange, all different and all equally as crazy as him. The most ‘normal’ boy being a self-proclaimed genius who couldn’t spell out the word ‘necessary’ without having an aneurysm because of the unnecessarily large number of s’s needed.

They were good guys at least. You were happy Jungkook had people to really connect to and he always made sure you were always included- so you never felt left out. You currently sat on a bench in the halls during lunch as Hoseok, one of his friends, sat on the floor with a thermos of water at his side. Talking about how the dance recital he had coming up in a month was wearing him out.

You let out a small ‘oof’ when Jungkook had appeared from seemingly nowhere and threw himself across your lap and the bench. His back on your legs as he stared up at you as you popped a piece of the sandwich you ate into your mouth.

“Can you get off me?” You asked.

“Jungkook, you know you’re not a lap dog, right?” Hoseok asked from the floor with a hint of amusement in his voice. Jungkook just looked offended at Hoseok as he curled into you, wrapping his arms around your midsection.

“Jungkook!” You whined as he held you with an iron grip. Working out being his second favorite hobby besides singing. “Go cling to Hoseok instead!”

“He won’t cuddle us,” Hoseok told you. You stopped your micro-shoves on his shoulders as you started talking to the dancer again. Jungkook cuddling deeper into your stomach. “Well, I guess I could say he does, but he certainly does whine a lot. No one quite satisfies the affection-craving dog like you do, girly.” He broke out into a fit of laughs before speaking again. “One time, he kept whining because he wanted to cuddle you, but you were in gym, so Jimin tried to help but Jungkook just growled at him.”

“Jungkook!” You scolded as he just whined.

“I don’t wanna hug anyone else anymore!” He complained. “Only you,” he solidified. You just sighed, letting him once again get away with his childish needs as he practically napped on your lap the entire lunchtime.

It was then like that day after day. Even when he was at his competition, dressed in his black slacks and white dress shirt, his hair neatly parted and brushed, he hugged you. He’d lean on your back as he hugged your waist or push his cheek on your shoulder when he had a chance to sit down beside you.

As you sat among the audience of the people listening to the choir, you had to keep your heart from beating out of your chest because you swore he stared at you the entire time.

The evening after the competition, he practically begged you to stay over at his house. You gave in pretty quickly and Jungkook worshiped your mom for letting you. Normally, you’d just put down a sleeping bag on the floor, but tonight Jungkook was adamant you sleep beside him.

“I- I don’t think we have to,” you weakly battled.

“No. You smell nice, you’re warm and you’re my favorite so you need to sleep next to me so I can sleep well.”

You flailed around, unable to take all the heart papulations he probably wasn’t aware he was causing. In the end- as per usual- he got his way as he clung to you at midnight when you both settled down for bed.

Laying behind you, he held you around your waist and pushed his face into your hair. Slipping his leg between yours and pulling you as close to his chest as possible. He cracked his closed eyes open not long after the two of you had gotten comfortable.

“You don't mind me holding you, do you?”

“Now you’re worried about your clinginess?” You chuckled.

“Well, it’s just-” he cut himself off with a whine as he pushed his nose down into your neck. “It’s complicated,” he told you.

“Complicated how? Not like you haven’t hugged me before.”

“It’s just different now.”

“No?” You questioned. You tapped at his arms, telling him to loosen them as you twisted around to face him. His face was lowered as he looked a tad sad. “Hey,” you whispered, caressing his cheek, “what’s wrong, Pup?”

“You’re my favorite human,” he told you. You’d heard him tell you that before. You nodded at him.

“I know,” you told him softly.

“No, I mean-” he shut his eyes as he pushed his face into his pillow. He groaned into it. “Y/n?” He asked when he lifted his face back up. “S-someone told me that you liked, Hoseok. Is that... true?”

You pulled away from him, shock painted on your face.

“Who told you that?!”

“W-well, you’ve been spending a lot of time with him recently!” Jungkook seemed panicked like he was trying to cover something up.

“He’s been asking advice on how to ask out this girl in my Korean class who happens to be my deskmate,” you told him with a light laugh. “I, in no way, like Hoseok like that. He’s a swell guy, but I’d probably never date him.” Jungkook relaxed as he smiled.

“So, you don’t like him?”

“No,” you answered with a smile. “What a silly thing to be anxious about.” You pet at his head as he shut his eyes.

“It’s not silly,” he told you. “Not when I thought I’d have to compete with my friend for you. I was stressed, okay?”

“Huh?” Your brain seemed to have shut off. “What does Hoseok have to do with me? And compete?”

“You’re my favorite human,” he told you again. “The one human I wanna hug and hold and I wanna kiss you too. I wanna hold your hand and walk around in public. I want to talk about the future with your mom and win over your dad. I want you to stay my favorite human forever, and I want you to think of me as your favorite hybrid.” He snuggled into your chest, hiding his burning face. “I really like you, Y/n.”

You froze for a moment, making the dog’s stomach turn. He eased in instant relaxation when you pet at the back of his head and scratched his ears. He took in your scent he loved so much as you just pet him.

“You were right, it wasn’t silly. Sorry for calling it that,” you told him as he just shook his head. “I really like you too, Jungkook. Honestly, I’m shocked Jimin didn’t spill his gut when I told him about my crush on you.” You laughed lightly, making the dog-boy hold you closer. “Let’s just sleep for now, and we can talk about all this in the morning.” He nodded silently.

Before falling asleep, he smiled when he felt you kiss the top of his head, his tail wagging across the mattress.

A ⇴ AFFECTION

He loves to shower you with affection whenever he can, he always sneaks little kisses from you, and his arms are always wrapped around you, keeping you close to him, whispering sweet messages into your ear to bring a smile to your face.

B ⇴ BEFORE DATING

You’d met on a night out, and at the end of the evening got to know each other a bit more over a late-night walk. Since then, the two of you had been inseparable. Jin thought you would just be a drunken thing, but when he sobered up, he found himself keen and intrigued by you, getting to know you and spend more time together, he soon began to think about a little bit more.

C ⇴ CONFESSION

He was full of confidence when it came to confessing to you, he knew exactly what he was going to do without needing the support of the boys, even if they tried to offer it. He told you one night over dinner, telling you everything, exactly how he felt, not missing out a single bit of detail. It took you by surprise, but of course, you told him that you felt the same, you never thought he could like you, but when he told you he did, you couldn’t be happier.

D ⇴ DATES

Any date was special, he loved to spoil you whenever he could. Your favourite dates were when he cooked for you, he was an incredible cook, and eating his food, cooked from the heart, always made you feel so loved. The two of you were up for anything, whether it be a romantic meal, or an evening bowling or playing crazy golf, the more fun you could get out of a date, the better. They never always had to be big, just little date nights were sometimes good enough for you when times were busy, it was just nice for you to be able to spend time with him.

E ⇴ EXPERIENCE

There was little experience in Jin, he’d had a short relationship before BTS debuted, but he hadn’t had a serious relationship for quite some time. He often looked to his father for help in making sure he things did right, making sure he didn’t lose you. Love was never something he looked for, he waited for it to find him, and when you came into his life, he knew that love had most definitely found him. He didn’t need any experience to tell him that you were the one, and he was going to love you for the rest of his life.

F ⇴ FIGHTING

Sometimes his childish nature would create a few cracks in your relationship. He wasn’t good at talking about serious matters, he tended to laugh and joke, shrugging things off as if they weren’t important. It certainly frustrated you from time to time, which would often make you angrier. It often took time, but Jin would eventually realise that there were times he needed to be a bit more of an adult and realise that he wasn’t always right. He was often defensive of himself, and whilst you were never harmfully picking fault in him, he worked hard to realise that there were moments in your relationship when you just expected a little more.

G ⇴ GETTING TO KNOW HIS FAMILY

You were terrified to meet his family, knowing his parents had a high status, you felt a lot of pressure to live up to their expectations. With Jin by your side, luckily, you impressed them with your big smile and kind nature. You were quickly welcomed into the family, being told as many embarrassing stories of Jin’s childhood they could think of.

H ⇴ HOME

Being the hyung of the group, he often felt that he should be the first to move out, but only when the time was right. Meeting you, and learning to love you, he knew the moment was right after a year of dating to get your own place. The two of you continued to live near to the dorm so that Jin could keep a watchful eye on the youngsters.

I ⇴ “I LOVE YOU”

Jin was very open with his emotions, so he was the first one to say those three words. When he came home from tour, he couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed seeing you there, waiting for him. He’d never missed anyone quite like he had you, realising there was only one way to describe it, love. Four weeks he’d waited to tell you, and when he did, he smiled softly, hearing you say it straight back.

J ⇴ JEALOUSY

There weren’t many times when Jin would be jealous, being so affectionate, it was rare that there would be a time he was away from you. If he was jealous, he would tend to stop being so affectionate, he’d feel like he’d need to back off, that was how you would know something was wrong. A few kisses and cuddles from you would ease his jealousy, and as he began to kiss you back again, you realised his jealous phase was over. He’d often get jealous around the boys, listening to them tease you for dating such an old man.

K ⇴ KIDS

He couldn’t wait to have children, especially with you. It was something he saw in his near future, knowing he wasn’t getting any younger. It was only with you, did he ever envision kids being a part of his life, the two of you settling down and making babies was something that appealed greatly to him, he dreamt of a son and a daughter for you both, knowing that no one else would be more perfect to mother his children.

L ⇴ LAUGHTER

He was forever making you laugh with his rubbish jokes and sense of humour, they were never funny, yet somehow, they always managed to pull a giggle from you. His infectious laughter would usually set you off too, it was loud and brash, just like him, in any room of the house you could hear it, chuckling to yourself. His laughter and humour were the most important things to you, when times were hard, those were the things that kept you going and loving him the most, for always putting a smile on your face.

M ⇴ MISSING

Being away from you was horrible, he hated it, every second of the day would be spent worrying about you, desperately making sure that you were doing alright. When he went on tour, you’d leave little messages in his luggage to keep him going, whilst he scattered love letters around the house. He’d call you and text you everyday when he was away to keep the communication between that wo of you going, he’d tell you about his day, asking about yours, and every night he’d end the day texting you a little countdown of the days you had to wait before the two of you could reunite once again.

N ⇴ NICKNAMES

The two of you weren’t big fans of nicknames, you usually used pet names to address each other, “jagi,” “love,” “sweet,” were all common between you both, romantic and simple, perfectly defining the two of you together.

O ⇴ OBSESSION

He was obsessed with your smile, he loved to know he was making you happy and smile, it was the best thing he could do for you, and if he made you grin, he knew he was doing his job correctly.

P ⇴ PDA

There was never a secret made that the two of you were together, he didn’t care where he was, it would never stop him kissing you and cuddling you, sending a clear message that you were his. He’d always talk about you too, gushing about how in love he was and how happy you made him every single day.

Q ⇴ QUESTIONS

He’d often ask questions about anything that came to mind, setting off discussions, or searching to you for advice. But most of all he’d ask you if he could tell you a joke, testing out his material on you to see if it worked or not.

R ⇴ RANDOM FACTS

Any time he was on stage, whether it be on tour or in an interview, he had a secret sign to let you know he was thinking of you. He’d straighten his eyebrow, then run a hand through his hair, and then he’d tap the top of his head. It was subtle, but as soon as you saw him do it, you knew exactly what he was conveying. It was handy especially when he was on tour, letting you know he was alright, and you were on his mind.

S ⇴ SEX

Despite being such an old man, he was still full of energy, he could go for hours some days when he really wanted you. He’d often dominate, asserting his position as the protector in the relationship, looking after you and appreciating your body. He made you feel so loved, it was the one time where he’d always be so serious, making sure you knew just how much he loved you, reminding you repeatedly just how beautiful you were.

T ⇴ TEXTS

Never a day went by without receiving a text from Jin, whether it be on tour, or just to let you know he was on his way home, texts were often the glue that kept the two of you together when distance wasn’t your friend.

U ⇴ UNIVERSE

You were his absolute rock, he never realised how much he needed a relationship, until he met you. There was no one in the world that he needed more than you, your love, and support had changed him for the better, teaching him to love himself too.

V ⇴ VACATION

He loved to surprise you with holidays, usually when he came home from tour. After so long away from you, he loved to spend some quality time together and thank you for sticking by him. He also needed the time to relax, knowing how hard it was on you too being alone, reconnecting and enjoying plenty of new experiences together.

W ⇴ WHINING

When you turned him down for a kiss or a cuddle he’d often whine for your attention, calling out your name for your attention to be on him, giving him the kiss, he craved.

X ⇴ XXXXX

He was always showering you with kisses, he’d often trail kisses along your cheeks and neck from behind you, bringing a soft blush to your cheeks. Yet, if he wanted you, he wasn’t afraid to kiss you with passion, usually cupping either side of your face, bringing you close to him. Kisses were his way of reminding you he was there for you every day, he loved to kiss you and set the butterflies off in your tummy again and again.

Y ⇴ YOU

You were his best friend, the person he adored the most in the world.

Z ⇴ ZZZ

Every night he fell asleep cuddled up to you was a good night, having you beside him always made him feel a bit safer and more relaxed. He’d often cuddle you into his chest, resting his head on top of yours, falling asleep to the beat of your heart.

So. Homecoming. Holy fuck. It’s taken me this long to even start to get my thoughts together. Very spoilery post under the cut. Like, as much as I can possibly remember of the show spoilery. Also rambly. And long. Ridiculously long. So you’ve been warned.

Also disclaimer, this is just homecoming to the best of my recollection and it might not be 100% accurate. So first of all the setlist (this was everything they sang but the order of songs in act 2 is a bit hazy, I think it’s about half right. Also I don’t think hardly anyone at the show could tell you exactly because it was just so overwhelming). They did medleys for all the non-Potter shows in act 1 in reverse chronological order, act 2 they did full songs from all the Potter musicals.

Thursday 25th The more I think about it the more I realise I really had no idea what I was expecting from the show. We’d been planning before they even announced what it was to fly out for it, but we had very few details. I didn’t even know they had an orchestra until like two hours before. I’d barely been able to watch any of their rehearsal stories. But I don’t think I’d ever been more excited for anything in my life. I was super excited for AVPW but also, it was my first time seeing any of them, the whole thing felt like a dream, and I had no idea how much it was gonna mean to me so it didn’t even hit me properly until the last night. Whereas I already knew exactly how special this would be, it was entirely once in a lifetime and I was nearly shaking.

Outside the theatre I’ve said it before but genuinely my favourite place in the world to be is surrounded by Starkid fans. Seeing people in cosplay, in merch, talking about the same shows and people I love, I just get such a sense of ‘this is home’. There was the classic waiting-in-line going back to hogwarts singalong. And some la dee da da day thrown in for good measure. Liam was walking along the line filming and doing interviews for the bts. Tessa got out of a car right next to us, we saw Jade and Traci and their friend Bella. They’re all gorgeous it’s insane and unfair.

Inside the theatre Spent over $100 on merch but honestly could have spent so much more, really I showed a lot of self restraint. They didn’t have the programmes though which I’m still heartbroken over. Saw Denise Richter which I was maybe too excited about. Didn’t speak to her or anything but even just to see her she exudes kindness she’s the best. Then we were hanging out in the lobby and Tessa was talking to everyone and hugging them and taking selfies and jumping in people’s group pics and I love her. Like she made my night even without me talking to her because she was SO sweet to everyone she spoke to and I was stood there falling in love with her by the second. Also, let’s talk about how cool the venue was? It looked unbelievable and they had a bunch of posters up with AVPM quotes. And the stage? Y’all have seen by now but they made it look like an actual homecoming dance and it was amazing. Considering how far back our seats were it was actually a very good view, it helped that I had an aisle seat so had a clear view of the entire stage. I’ve posted the pre-show playlist here, it was perfect, especially the JATP like, hell yeah to celebrating all their various projects. At this point I literally thought I was gonna die of excitement. AJ and Clark came on stage and as much as I was having great fun freaking out with the groupchat about how soon the show was I couldn’t wait to put my phone away cause that meant the show was starting. And then the lights went down.

Darren Very pleased to say it was not the Darren show, even though he did give the opening and closing speech. And as much as I have opinions about him, when he walked out for the first time it was a pretty special moment because it’s like, this is it this is really happening. The amount of energy in that room when he came on stage my god. You would not have believed there were only 1600 people there. The whole show people could barely get a sentence out without cheering, which in hindsight was probably annoying but it just shows how incredibly loved they are, and we were as grateful to them as they were to us. I loved the atmosphere in both shows, it was completely different both times and I’ll obviously get to the Friday night show, but there was something special about being in a room of majority backers, all of us seeing these show for the very first time, it was totally new. Again, literally no idea what to expect and it was the most exhilarating feeling. Darren did a little ‘look for your exits pretend we’re at Disney’ which was cute after being at Disney for two days beforehand. Classic starkid fashion, he told us they had no idea how long the show would run for. He made a G.L.E.E. joke so it’s nice to know he’s still on our side at the end of the day. I don’t know if it was him that talked about Starkid performing with a 13 piece orchestra for the first time, but I’m gonna bring it up here anyway. I’m so grateful they were overfunded and that they were able to have the orchestra, because it’s probably something they really wanted and it’s also something they 100% deserve. I’d sell my soul to hear every starkid song with that orchestra, it was magnificent. I really hope we do get an album because it all sounded SO GOOD. Unsurprisingly don’t remember much else of what Darren said because I was just so excited for the show to start.

TGWDLM medley So as soon as the opening started playing even as Darren was still introducing people went insane, literally within two seconds I knew undoubtedly that this was gonna be the best two hours of my life (also the fastest. Often watching theatre shows I lose attention a little bit but there wasn’t a single second of this show that I wasn’t 100% in the moment they’re completely captivating, and it went by way too fast). Oh wow this is where we got to see Joey and Lauren for the first time. Fuck. I cannot describe to you how good they looked. Pictures do not do it justice. Thank god the mustache was gone. Thank god Lauren didn’t wear the boots. She was wearing my favourite hairstyle. Joey’s hair looked great. Their outfits were incredible. They literally could not have been more perfect looks for me and I’m so grateful. I could have cried happy tears at seeing them. This in itself could go on for five pages so I’ll leave it there. They all did the whole iconic zombie pose entrance. Corey sang Joey’s astronomical line which was kinda a shame cause I love the way he sings that line however I’m glad they did it like that cause Joey got to sing a lot in the show (still not enough for my liking but then again my liking is Joey and Lauren singing the whole show so I’m good). Wish they did Lauren’s ‘pines after a cute lil barista’ bit. Also kinda wish they did inevitable so Jon could sing because I love him and he deserves better @ starkid when are you going to hire me. However they made up for that when Jaime went ‘it is time’ and the room was absolutely electric because everyone knew exactly what was coming. That note had me shook from the moment I heard it on the digital ticket and I feel honoured to have heard it in person. Jeff was still her hype man. Jaime’s voice is honestly out of this world, she’s the person I’d most heard sing live but it was still mind blowing. She’s incredible I love her so much. Then Robert came on stage so like, room exploded again. Joey and Lauren should have been on stage doing their bit for show stopping number but again, what do I know? This song was 100% pandering but as much as it’s overhyped it is a good song and Robert fucking killed it, he actually impresses me so much. His voice? He did the hip wiggles, maybe even more than were in the show, and people went absolutely wild for it. He did the working boys bit and of course everyone lost their minds. And I loved it, I loved that atmosphere of everyone being entirely obsessed with every tiny thing these people do because that’s what connects us all. Jon did get to be a working boy (as did Mariah) and sounded great. They actually sang so much of this song holy shit definitely pandering. But they really were giving Hamilton some competition.

Firebringer medley Lauren Walker introduced this one, do I remember what she said? No, I was too busy wondering if they were going to sing Climate Change. They didn’t. You sang three songs from every other show but two from firebringer and one of them wasn’t climate change? Okay sure. This sounds like I’m complaining I’m not this section was still gorgeous and I loved every second of it. Hearing music from firebringer was amazing because it has some of my favourite music from all the starkid shows, and also because apart from TGWDLM which was so recent it’s the only show we hadn’t heard anything from since. They sang we got work to do which again, pandering and not even to what most people actually wanted if we’re being honest. But I’m happy about it because hearing Lauren sing that first line was a spiritual experience. Her voice? No words. So good. Can’t believe I got to hear it live? Properly?!? Also Joey got to be in this bless his heart and I couldn’t stop watching him doing the choreography. Lauren’s little expressions throughout the whole thing are adorable god I love her. Meredith sounded so good. Rachael got so much of a cheer when she sang her bit. Joey comforted Joe after the shadow bit. Then they sang from the proposal bit of the finale. Brian was pretending to be jealous when Meredith was singing to Lauren which made my life, p.s. Joey step up your game. The first time hearing Lauren sing ‘this is the dawn’ literally took my breath away. And with that orchestra!? (Will I ever shut up about the orchestra? The answer is no). The CHEERS for ‘we are womankind’. Hell yeah. And then Lauren did the arm thing like way to literally flex on us Lo. Not okay. They did the little Molag dialogue bit and Denise did the being-blessed-with-knowledge face. Watching Denise off to the side was honestly one of the highlights of the whole show.

TTO medley

Now I’m questioning my memory but I think Jaime went offstage after Firebringer when she wasn’t supposed to because I’m sure I remember her not being on stage for this at first. Like everyone else was there and there was a moment where I was like ‘I feel like someone’s missing...’ and then Jaime walked on late. She did mention Julia having to remind her of her cues. Anyway. Gone to oregon was first and I was reminded what an actually good performer Jeff is. He’s great in that show. Corey got the cheers he deserved at his ‘wisconsin’ bit. Lauren singing Naked in a lake was beautiful. Even if not enough people sang with her when she asked for help (spoiler, we stepped up Friday). She was definitely trying to get us to sing the high bits cause her voice was tired and she didn’t want to but that’s fine. This was one of the songs from that show I really wanted them to sing and I’m glad they did, it’s so much fun. Also Lauren does kinda steal the show but watching everyone else in this song is great. Shoutout to the sax guy, I’m glad we as a fandom always appreciate the band/orchestra. I still can’t believe everyone just lets Lauren sing a whole song about skinny dipping but I’m here for it. Then they did speedrun which was. An experience. Still think Joey should have sung wagon on fire but would I have passed out most likely yes so maybe it was better off this way. I’m glad Rachael got a moment. The ‘faster’ bit was fucking insane I don’t know how they had the breath for it. Everyone clapped pace and I’m pretty sure we clapped faster than the song ever goes so, sorry guys that you had to go through that? I think I have a newfound appreciation for this song. It was either in this or possibly in Naked in a lake that Joey did something stupid and Lo looked at him and shook her head. There were a lot of little looks throughout the show and trying to catch each other’s eye across the stage and it was very cute and probably won’t make the cut even though it should it’s the best part of the show.

Ani medley Moses introduced it and he was wearing like the jacket that’s one of his costumes and he wore in the final SK10 livestream idk you guys I’ve seen that show twice. The Ani band is fucking great, they had Mark, Nick Gage (?? idk there was definitely a fourth person I was mostly watching Meredith let’s be real here), Clark and Meredith all sing. Meredith had the biggest smile on her face at all times it was a joy. Ani is such a fun song so many starkid songs are so fun. Also they added a key change (was it even a key change? I’ve never studied music whatever they did it sounded good.) Actually the whole arrangement of this medley I loved, I hope it makes the people who don’t appreciate the music in this show appreciate it. With my own eyes is my favourite song in that show and I’m very happy they did it. They should have had Denise do her choreo when they did Back on top tbh. I love Meredith in this song though.

Twisted medley Joe came out to introduce it but kept hyping everyone up about Ani first. I really miss Joe he has so much onstage energy. I knew they were doing No one remembers achmed but I was still so excited about it. It’s such a good song. And the whole ‘you ooze sex’ bit in the flesh? That’s all. Obviously the best part was everyone yelling tigerfucker. Experiencing that in person is unbeatable. Then they had Britney and Carlos sing their version of 1001 nights and it was beautiful, I very rarely listen to that version of the song but I should, Britney is unbelievable and I love her so much. I can’t believe she’d just flown in and had such a rough time right before the show, you wouldn’t have known it. Dylan walked out and I kinda thought they were gonna have him and Meredith do a quartet (starkid when are you gonna hire me??) but then he sang ‘and with my wife beside me’ and I was like :’) this is good. That part of the song always gets me and Dylan’s voice is a goddamn gift. I love the overlapping parts at the end of Happy ending too so it’s always a good choice. But why they didn’t sing dream a little harder when Alex was right there I do not know.

HMB medley Pretty sure they had Julia introduce it? Guys it’s been a week gimme a break. Either way she definitely introduced something at some point and I’m glad everyone cheered so much for her because she was the glue of Starkid for a while. Nick Gage sang HMB and they had a reverb (again, is that the right term? not a clue) and he looked so pleased with himself every time we laughed. Then they sang rogues are we (rogues medley would have been better but in fairness that would have ruined the whole thing they had going). I do love Lauren singing we are the harlots and the hussies. A lot. But Denise does it so well. And Jaime’s ‘we’re rising up from the underground’?? I don’t think I have a single thing to say about any of the men in this song and I’m not sorry. Superfriends sounded very cool. It doesn’t matter how many times I see it, I always love the matching tattoos bit, and seeing Meredith’s story afterwards about how she was directing hers at Jade made it even better. I don’t even remember who sang Robin’s lines because I was too busy watching Lauren do the dance, she’s adorable. It was funny watching like five of them doing it cause they were the only ones who had learned it before and the rest not knowing it. Also, I don’t know which makes me happier, when they point into the audience for ‘I wanna be your friend forever’, or when they point at each other. Both are good.

Starship medley Denise introduced the show and um hi I love Denise she’s so cute. She said the thing about her mom calling Starship a show for dreamers and I still think that’s the most adorable thing. I will say for the rest of time that having Alex and Mariah sing Status quo was a weird choice. Also made me pissed that basically no one cheered for Alex but of course everyone went fucking crazy for Mariah. Not even that Mariah didn’t deserve it, but she didn’t deserve it more than Alex. Just saying. It did sound very good with the orchestra and they both have good voices, but I still think we deserved it sounding good with JOEY and the orchestra. I would have died to hear Joey sing that song. Moving on though. Kick it up a notch is always better in rogues medley but I do adore the Jim Brian and Jaime trio anyway. And it’s SUCH a good song. Then they sang I wanna be which I was psyched about I love that song (it was straight from Brant’s verse though like hello what happened to Joey rights). Hearing the older songs makes me wish so much they’d remount them because they all sound so good now it would be amazing. Joey’s voice is legitimately a blessing from the gods.

MAMD medley Brian introduced the show and walked away from the mic before he said dick, which was funny but also reminded me of how they said this would be the most PG show starkid had done which is laughable. Joey did a whole bit in the beginning that reminded me a lot of his jekyll and hyde performance in shitty broadway. I love that man. Again, we deserve a remount of this show if only for Joey’s voice. Then we have maybe the most iconic moment of the thursday show which is when Joe had way too much excitement for his entrance, fucking sprinted on stage, knocked over the mic stand and had to rescue it, spraining his ankle in the process. And recovered BADLY, he was trying to figure out what to say to pull it back and Joey basically had to tell him to just sing already. I feel a little guilty now because it looked pretty bad, but it was really fucking funny. And then the cheer at the head tilt, why do we all love it so much??!? Then Joey sang Listen to your heart with AJ (him and Brian are a better duo fight me). I loved their little added dialogue, with Joey being like ‘do I smell?’ and AJ being like ‘so bad’. I always always love the little dance break Joey is the sweetest boy. I think I remember something like ‘am I doing it?’ ‘not even close Joey’. Then Alle Faye and Ali came out for ready to go and it went from their bit. It was really nice seeing them back together again. It wasn’t like nearly ten years had gone by at all. God it’s weird how nostalgic I was/am for something I wasn’t even there for. The ‘we’re finally ready’ bit sounded so gorgeous with the orchestra, I had it stuck in my head for days. They slowed it down, and we had everyone on stage, and it was just beautiful. The perfect way to end the act, which was over way too soon, and I was already feeling sad about the show nearly being over even though there was so much good to come. Wait how could I forget to mention the ‘my hormones are freaking out’ bit. Fuck all of them for that. Even if I pretty much just watched Lauren with a quick glance at Joey, which is an accurate description of what I did for a lot of the show.

Intermission First quick thing to say, as much as I wish we’d heard some more full songs from the non-Potter shows, I think I like that they kept it separate. The first half was celebrating everything they achieved since where it all started for them, and the second half was pure nostalgia. And even though I wish it wasn’t the case, more people know the potter shows so it was kinda nice that everyone was even more united than they had been for the first half. Secondly, what I should have done during intermission was used the time to recover, because the show was a whole lot of excitement and emotions and I knew it was only going to get worse in the second half. But instead I yelled to the groupchat and met @starkidmelly. More JATP was played, everyone was buzzing, I couldn’t believe I was there. I think it was a long intermission but it did not feel it, Nick came out on stage and it’s like oh shit here we go again.

Nick’s speech He worried me because he said he wanted to take a minute to get sentimental, and I’d already cried a couple of times it was too early in the show to do it again. But then he just talked about the movie Starkid and how it was a bad movie and made us all laugh which I appreciated. What I really did love was how much people cheered for him when he came out, and also for Matt in the audience when Nick shouted him out. Especially on that first night the happiness on Nick’s face at everyone cheering made me want to cry it was so special and he deserves every bit of it and you could tell it still comes as a surprise even now. Also I’ll tag it on now because I don’t remember exactly at what point it was, but at some point in the second act Corey was telling people to stop filming, which kinda made me mad cause they’d asked people not to film and he looked so mad, but was also kinda funny because like, it’s one thing being stopped from filming by an usher but it’s a whole other thing being stopped by Corey Lubowich himself. I probably would have volunteered to leave the theatre if I disappointed Corey like that tbh. But anyway back to Nick, he introduced GBTH with the original cast of AVPM and everyone fucking lost it.

GBTH So you already know what you’re about to be blessed with and then you hear that opening note and people are impossibly screaming even louder and Darren comes onstage and crouches down and it’s like nothing has really changed at all. I’ve been in a room of people singing this song before and it was magical, but this was even more people and even more special. This is where it all started, and there we were ten years later. And it was so surreal actually hearing them sing this in person. Darren put the glasses on and people went insane. The amount of anticipation I felt for Joey’s entrance was ridiculous, and he got the cheers he deserved (almost. he always deserves more). And no matter how many times we see it or how long it’s been it always makes me feel a lot of feelings seeing Darren and Joey on stage singing this together. Joey messed up the floo powder a bit and it was cute. Still iconic. It was deafening when Bonnie came out, which I guess was to be expected we haven’t seen her in nine years. I will say that she did look genuinely happy to be there, and they looked genuinely happy to have her there. Plus the line ‘why do you have to be such a buzzkill’ was so much more funny with the irony of her pretty much bringing the house down. The nostalgia factor ramped up even more here and it was pretty awesome to have that original trio back on stage after so long. Again, so much but simultaneously so little had changed in ten years and trying to articulate those feelings would require a hundred page essay. I didn’t expect them to change the original but I still think they should have kept Lauren’s altered ‘that would be cool’ line. It’s better. But I digress. Jaime got to do her bit and it was a masterpiece. But rest in peace to the whole Cho Chang and Cedric bit, you were deeply missed. Lauren’s entrance, do I even need to say more? Fucking iconic as ever. One of the best moments in all of history. I’m glad they kept in most of the dialogue-y bits although I do not remember what her accent was like. People delivered on ‘whatever I say’ and I love how that’s become our thing. The train bit always makes me emotional, even more so this time with so many people old and new onstage. I always think of Lauren saying she hates the train move but she should have told her face that. Dylan did his entrance from the back of the theatre aka right by us and it was magnificent, he held the note all the way down to the front. They added in the lines about sorting here so Tyler got to do ‘hufflepuffs are particularly good finders’ which was a good choice they did good on that one, Dylan’s ‘what the hell is a hufflepuff’ was drowned out by people still cheering for Tyler, it was a pretty great moment. I may have cried a bit at ‘it’s all that I love and it’s all that I need’. Just a bit. I loved so much that they got everyone to be a part of this song.

Harry Freaking Potter Have I lost all my memories of this song? Maybe. I remember it being amazing. Predictably I watched Lauren a lot, it’s very hard not to she’s so cute when she’s dancing. It’s funny to me how they hold out the mics for the last ‘harry freaking potter’ but most people are already cheering so they get nothing. They should have learned by now.

To Have A Home Was possibly next? I know I got teary again pretty early on in the act (saved the full crying at this song for Friday though stay tuned). I know I’m very far from being the only person who felt the most at home I’ve ever felt. How can you not, surrounded by so much support and mutual love for these incredible people who’ve done so much for us. Starkid is a huge family and it’s tangible in moments like that. And ‘to know this is real’ hits hard. Especially because you can really feel it from Darren, as famous as he is now being on stage with his friends is truly home.

Different As Can Be There’s just something about this song that brings so much energy and Joe and Brian are an iconic duo. And they brought the Quirrelmort vibes strong. Loved everyone shouting ‘prevails’. I’m super glad they did the reprise too. The reaction when they go back to back is incredible. Also, Joe’s ‘Quirrell’ was impeccable.

Coolest Girl I will say to Bonnie’s credit that she did a very good job opening this song, considering how many people were there and how much pressure there must have been seeing as she’s suddenly making a reappearance after so many years. And she did get a lot of love for it. But Meredith coming out to duet with her actually made me cry, she looked so happy and they did a cute little ‘hi’ and I really truly consider this Meredith’s song, even if she didn’t originally sing it, so I’m glad she got to do it. It was a special moment having them sing it together with no resentment or jealousy. And then Meredith confirmed that Bonnie was pregnant again at the end of the song.

Cho Chang Of course Darren sang this. Of course. What would a starkid show be without Darren playing his dumb songs on guitar. But nothing beats a room full of people shout-singing ‘that’s in canada’ (side note, why did this stick so much? every time I saw it on the map when I flew to Canada it’s all I could think of). But also, idk why Darren introduced this song by saying he wanted to test if we knew the words like buddy pretty sure we know the words to your songs better than you do but sure.

Hey Dragon More of Darren playing dumb songs on guitar but this is also a pretty fun song so we’re letting it slide. Also he did say that he didn’t want to do this song and said they should cut it to make time for better songs but that everyone else made him do it, which does not surprise me. He obviously had to call out his own songwriting abilities from ten years ago, it makes me laugh every time he does it but this time he really came for himself with how bad the rhyming was and how the lyrics are dumb. I love that he can’t get through the song without laughing because it is pretty stupid but we love it anyway. They trusted us on the ‘la la la’s and I think we came through.

Granger Danger Okay. OKAY. So after all that Darren was like ‘let’s take it to a school dance’ which did not register for me at all because that song has gone way beyond that and now it’s just Joey and Lauren’s song. But then Darren’s playing it (which I found ??? sweet?? for some reason? idk it was good) and Joey and Lauren are on stage and I’m like here we fucking go. This is what I’m here for. Cannot begin to describe how happy I was to hear this song. I literally had said I refused to die before I heard them sing this live and now it will forever be one of the highlights of my life. The amount of power on that stage. Also the amount of attractiveness. They honestly are a power couple. The most iconic duo singing one of the most iconic songs. Their stage presence just blows me away. And it always makes me feel things too because they’ve done this song so many times and when they were first performing it they had no idea where they’d end up and now they’re fucking living the dream together and I can’t believe how far they’ve come. This is a hole we don’t need to go down though. It absolutely is a crime that they haven’t had more songs together but it does make this one particularly special because it’s fucking THEIR song and there’s no doubt they love performing together and their chemistry is so good anyway anyway I swear I’ll get back on track. This song with the orchestra??!? Holy shit you guys it sounded so good. They managed to take a song I love with every inch of me and make me love it even more. They came out and did a handshake because they’re fucking dorks. My heart genuinely felt like it was about to pump out of my chest, the adrenaline rush from seeing this live was crazy it’s a fucking experience. Joey was remarkably in character when it got to Lauren’s bit but she could not be in character for the life of her when he was singing my god she just did not give a fuck. Her heart eyes were off the charts I swear to god I couldn’t believe that dumb girl. Also Lauren was practically making love to her mic stand half the song which was honestly unnecessary but I love her. And her looking at her crotch murdered me. And then Joey was looking at her for most of the ending and she didn’t look at him once so she sucks. As always the last note was heavenly. When do we get a two hour concert version of this song??

Guys Like Potter Maybe came next? I love the apocalyptour arrangement of this song but it was nice to throw it back to the original and Tyler’s great. Joe tried? We’ll leave it at that.

Wizard Of The Year I think this followed after purely because of AJ saying something like ‘that’s enough about that Potter boy’?? And then he only went and did the whole fucking mouse monologue. And the entire time I was sat there having an internal conflict between ‘this is one of the funniest things I’ve ever witnessed’ and ‘they could have used this time to do climate change’. Honestly hearing him pull that out was wild. But then he sang the song and some of the girls came out to do the ‘gilderoy’ bit (which was the best part duh).

To Dance Again The beginning of this song is always iconic. Most important thing to say here is how I’m even more impressed now with Joe’s dancing after seeing what his ankle looked like. Also, hearing all the tapping (thudding) from the audience brings me inexplicable joy. Lauren ran on stage before her cue when Darren came off and had to book it back off and I feel a bit bad immortalising it because I’m sure she’s glad they weren’t filming that night. While we’re on the subject, the Thursday show was a little messy but like, there were no HUGE fuck ups apart from maybe Joe’s in MAMD and it was all surprisingly well rehearsed considering they’d had barely two days of rehearsal and they’re all so so impressive. Still think they should have had a 40 person kickline but the three person Joe Darren and Brosenthal kickline was still pretty good. Also, I remember someone doing a very cool harmony? It maybe sounded like Holden? His voice is underrated.

Sidekick I cannot remember for the life of me if this is actually where this song goes?? I don’t remember if Joey went offstage or not. I just know that he ended up alone on stage and I damn near lost my mind. I know I’ve said it before but Joey’s performance of sidekick genuinely is a show stealer and I never in a million years thought I’d get to see it live so I feel extremely privileged that I did. God bless whoever included this in the setlist you have my eternal thanks. It’s what Joey deserves (and what I deserve). His voice!?! The high notes?!? Still love the irony of Joey singing this song. Classic cheering at ‘am I the hottest’ because yes you fucking are. He messed up a bit and sang ‘am I the one who takes you home’ twice but we love him. He absolutely killed it and being reminded that they’d not long got back from SDCC and finding out he had a fever made me even more impressed because you literally wouldn’t have known it.

Voldemort Is Going Down More on Joey continuing to kill it (but maybe not in this order). It was good to hear this song again, it slaps. And they all sounded so good too. And there was a super cool little piano riff at one point. This song makes everyone so hype I love it so much.

Everything Ends Haha tear time (jk just about managed to save them for Friday). But it is very much when things get sad because you can feel that the show’s coming to a close. This was Robert’s duet with a person he’d never sung with before and it sounded beautiful. We got the return of Joe’s snape voice or am I imagining that? I don’t remember what he said but I’m sure he said something and it probably made me sad. Literally the whole end of the show is just a blur because I couldn’t believe it was almost over so quickly.

Not Alone Jaime. Just, Jaime. Incredible every time she sings this song. Also, so many AVPW feelings because this is what they came out and sang and this song has been extra special to me since. So I was in tears from the get go tbh. God I’m really really really missing AVPW today so this is a lot just thinking about it. And personal feelings about Bonnie and also how much I love newer arrangements of not alone aside, it was unimaginably special to see the original four singing this together again.

Days Of Summer We knew they’d save this to the end (or at least so we thought) but it was still a bit of an asshole move ngl. Like, do you enjoy our suffering? Seeing everyone on stage together singing this song that’s at the heart of starkid, if there was anyone who didn’t cry I applaud them. Darren gave a closing speech where he didn’t thank half the people he needed to because he hadn’t rehearsed. I wish I remembered more of what he said because it wasn’t exactly the same as Friday, it also didn’t make me cry half as much which I guess was a bonus. They did the little going back to hogwarts reprise probably partly to make us all feel a bit better and got everyone on their feet for it and as much as I never know which house to say I still love that moment of everyone yelling their house. Then they had “curtain call”, except they faked us out because Brian stayed on stage with his fist in the air and I’m like okay what are these idiots up to now. And Nick came out to tell him they sang all the songs and Voldemort’s dead, which of course meant ‘dead?! *skips stone*’ and we all needed that laugh. And then Joe came out and they did the ‘okay is good’ bit so I was sad again and god they really messed with our emotions. And everyone came back out and did the not alone reprise and literally stomped all over my heart because ten years ago they did the exact same thing, except now they were on a bigger stage with a bigger audience and a bigger family and they’ve all grown so much and achieved so many amazing things in their careers and their personal lives and they’ve grown up a lot but they’re still these college kids at heart who love performing with their friends and making people laugh and I didn’t want to leave my seat after they all walked offstage because it really felt like my soul had left my body and I was just completely emotionally drained. And unbelievably happy that I was getting to experience it all again the next day.

Friday 26th The one thing I have to say about the line this time round is shoutout to the kid handing out red vines, I don’t know how many people actually wanted one but it made me smile. As we were waiting in the lobby we saw Denise x2 (Joey’s mom still looked like the embodiment of kindness and Denise always seems so happy to be there I love them both).

Anyway when we got to our seats I just sat down and was internally screaming because we were So Close to the stage and I was like how on earth am I going to survive seeing this much beauty. Also I knew that some people had different outfits and I was trying to figure out if Lauren and Joey were wearing the same thing cause that was the most important thing so it was an anxious wait. Then when they came out being that close to the crop top nearly killed me and Joey looked even hotter in that red shirt than he did on Thursday so like, I want that image tattooed on my eyelids.

Oh and we saw MK, Sean, Sarah and Whitney up in the balcony before the show started. This is how the conversation went down... Sophie: is that MK up there? Me: I think so, that looks like Sean Sophie: it doesn’t look like Sean? (spoiler alert, it was Sean)

Also to quickly go back to the live atmosphere, Friday night was INSANE oh my god. Whether it was that it was the last show or whether it was being closer to the stage but the room was absolutely electric, it seemed like so many more people - including me this time - were singing and fucking reciting all the lines like it makes me so happy that we’re all fucking nerds who love these other nerds to death and memorise all their shows. As was my plan, the first night I took everything in and then the second night I just got to enjoy it and make the most of it. So the Thursday show it was kind of like I was observing everything but Friday I was LIVING it, and I really was living. It was a fucking party. And I could anticipate what was coming and it somehow made it even more exciting than witnessing everything fresh for the first time. I was literally sat there having the time of my life for two hours and I hope they all saw it, they would have just seen me with a huge fucking grin the whole time (apart from when I was crying we’re not talking about that rn). Maybe the most fun I’ve ever had. It made all the money I’d spent to get there 10000% worth it because as amazing as the DVD is going to be and you bet I’m getting it (well the digital download shipping’s an outrage), you can’t buy the atmosphere in the room and it was incredible to be there.

Okay y’all know the drill now so this is gonna be quickfire:

Act 1

Seeing everyone doing their crazy eyes in TGWDLM up close was an EXPERIENCE. Jon was a stand out. Also Jaime. Being so much closer the energy was so much higher for Join us and die. I think that was really my main thing about Friday, aside from how emotions were even higher, was how crazy the energy was it was SO MUCH FUN. And Robert is pretty great.

Have I mentioned Lauren’s look nearly killing me? Yes? Good. The gay came out full force in Firebringer. Lo’s talent is out of this world and I feel so lucky to have witnessed it live.

So many more people sang for Lauren in Naked in a lake and she looked so happy my baby. I made eye contact with her at one of the points she was holding the out mic for the audience to sing so I’m glad she saw me (quietly but extremely enthusiastically) singing my heart out for her. Joey made Lauren laugh when they were dancing during speedrun and it’s the most adorable shit I’ve ever seen. Those two are genuinely in their own world half the time they’re on stage together and I live for it.

Carlos wasn’t there this night so I think Dylan should have filled in for his verse of 1001 nights but my ideas are worthless right? Oh have I mentioned how much I live for over a thousand people yelling tigerfucker? And Robert smashed ‘he fucked a tiger’. Also I’m sure they did it the first night too but I noticed even more Denise and Meredith encouraging everyone to cheer when Joe was doing the dialogue bit I adore them.

Brant got so out of time on I wanna be my god Joey looked like he was trying to telepathically tell him to slow down but he never really recovered. But the chaotic energy felt appropriate? It’s not a starkid show without a mess up.

Joe’s MAMD entrance was more controlled this time but honestly it’s a shame the fuck up won’t be on the filmed version because it was definitely a highlight (I hope you’re okay Joe). Mere and Brian had their arms round each other when they were singing ready to go and I was hit with the ‘oh my god they’re getting MARRIED’ feels. Look how far they’ve come. They were also making faces at each other during one song, I don’t remember which one, and giving Joey and Lauren a run for their money for being in their own world. Still not nearly as bad though.

Intermission

I remember even less of this intermission than the first one. I was just in total shock. Also when we came back from the intermission Nick went ‘two people just got engaged’ and almost literally stopped my heart like I KNOW that’s not how it’s gonna happen but where did he expect me to go with it. And then he wanted to be reminded of their names but someone shouted ‘Joe and Traci’ so he had to be like ‘no I’m not talking about them’ which made me laugh a lot.

Act 2

GBTH was somehow even better this time round. It’s actually a spiritual experience. 100% my happy place. Also Joey didn’t have the headband the first night and I didn’t know I needed it until he came out wearing one on Friday, it was weirdly emotional.

To have a home was worse this time around because I had to come to the realisation that I was gonna leave this home behind. That’s always the worst part, it was the same with AVPW, it’s not just that I miss it it’s also that it’s this happy, safe little bubble where everything feels okay and it’s so sad to lose that. So yeah, cried a lot this time. Also Darren went offstage on Thursday too in the instrumental but this time he went offstage and ran round to the other side to come back on which was so much better good job Darren.

When Lo and Joey shook hands for granger danger they both had such cute smiles my HEART. Lauren still had heart eyes for Joey singing, she was just stood there grinning at him the whole time she loves him so much jesus christ. Also she was staring at him when they were both singing the ‘falling in love’ bit just saying. And they got super close to each other for the end but kept alternating looking at the other person and the audience so they were never actually looking at each other and it KILLED me I hate them. I also didn’t even think twice about singing Lauren’s part during granger danger until halfway through oops and now I kind of want to apologise, Mr Joey Richter I love you.

You could tell there were a fair few people in the audience who’d seen one or both of the other shows and knew what was coming so actually shouted out ‘what’s your fantasy’ when AJ was working up to the mouse monologue which made it even better. It was just as insane and funny the second time, but I still couldn’t believe they actually put it in there.

Back to Mr Joey Richter, he brought the house down with sidekick even more than on Thursday. He’s so talented y’all. You’d expect more cheering for ‘am I the one who takes you home’ but the urge for everyone to yell ‘definitely not’ is too much and it cracks me up. And he pointed at the very least in my direction when he sang the last ‘I love being at your side’ so I’ll take it for SURE.

They got everyone standing even earlier on in the show (during voldemort is going down) and I just felt a sense of elation, the whole show but at this point in particular, because everyone was there having a fucking amazing time and pouring out so much love, from our direction and from theirs, and I feel like that song really does do what it’s supposed to and make us feel united.

Everything ends made me cry a lot because it actually was the end this time, and starkid have some fucking heart wrenching goodbye songs that are supposed to make you feel better but really don’t at all. Not alone made me cry more, obviously. Days of summer was so much worse because it really was goodbye, me having to say goodbye to seeing them and one of the best experiences of my life, them having to say goodbye to each other. SO. MANY. TEARS.

Random point, Lauren looked so fucking cute when she came out in her varsity jacket with the sleeves pushed up because it was too big for her I just wanted to hug her.

Joey and Lauren kept looking at each other during Darren’s speech, Joey in particular kept trying to catch Lo’s eye which killed me he’s too soft. And Lauren pulled a face at the mention of a twenty year reunion like she felt way too old for that and he was smiling at her I hate them.

There were a lot of tears, Joey and Tiffany especially and Lauren pulled her trying not to cry face. In the speech Darren said something about starkid bringing about this group of friends and Joey’s wide eyed already-crying-but-trying-not-to-cry-even-more-face was both heartbreaking and funny and I hope it makes it onto the DVD. I don’t remember much else of the speech other than that it was incredibly emotional and it very well summed up a lot of what we were all feeling about the show and how special starkid was. Also I made eye contact with Joey when we were both crying and we smiled at each other (tried to) and honestly that was a bonding moment for us.

And we saw Bob and Denise on our way out which caused a whole lot more feelings because those are their kids up there performing with all their other honorary kids and yep we’re done here.

I don’t really know how to bring this all to a neat end. I don’t really think there is one. It’s an experience that can’t fully be put into words, the emotions it brought up aren’t ones that I can properly label, and it’s going to stick with me forever. But it was a reminder of how special starkid is. Watching their shows at home, scrolling through their social media, of course it brings me so much joy it’s my reason for living. But getting to see them live and feel the impact they’ve had on so many people? Getting to do it with a friend I made because of them? I just wish I had the words or the time to give them the thanks I wish I could. I really hope they felt the sheer, deep love we all feel for them over those two days.

Anyway, I know this was way too long and half of it wasn’t information people care about but I’m done now. And I’m so excited for the DVD and (hopefully) album so I can experience it all again!

And what happens if at a bend of the path, you meet someone that seems at the same point as you, a traveller, needing the same change of direction as you? Would you choose to take that road together? What happens when you meet, at the crossroads?

♥️ Note from my lovely collaborator @aspaceformyself . She's amazing and I love her so much : ♥️♥️♥️ This is my very first time I’m writing Ji. Well, actually I’m writing this alongside my princess. I never had the opportunity to write him before. Like I never tried it personally on my own. I only wrote Namjoonie so far for obvious reasons. But Big Bang was a band I came across long before BTS. And somewhere along the way, I disconnected with them. And now, with this collab, I’m finding my way back to them. I feel like it’s a wonderful way to reconnect with one of my old favourites! Smiling a little, Jiyong shuts his temporary phone and glances at his watch. Almost half past eight. Miso should be out by now but she’s nowhere to be seen. It had been a while, since he had been waiting for her to come out. He had planned her a little something seeing as he ditched her the other day. Although not intentionally. But he still didn’t like the idea. So, here he is sitting in his car for the past half n hour waiting for his best friend to get out of work.

Tired of waiting, he looks out of the window, hoping for any signs of his best friend. But none. Sighing, he unbuckles the seatbelt, straightens his hair in the rearview mirror, grabs his phone and steps outside the car. It’s not the first time he’s come inside that building, he used to be on the cover of that magazine a few times before. Although he never came to meet Miso here, he’s confident the reception lady will let him in.

Shy, not so sure if it’s a good idea, he takes the elevator that will take him to his friend. She will surely be thrilled and surprised to see him. He was excited too! Hopefully, she will enjoy the evening he planned for them.

“Mr Kwon, we were not expecting you” says the woman at the reception.

“I’m here to meet a friend. Min sun? Park Min sun?”

“Oh!”, The lady exclaimes delighted, “You’ve come to see our Minnie, yes, she’s in the conference room, I think they are done by now. Would you like me to bring you there?”

“It’s ok, I know where it is. If you don’t mind, I will go meet her up?”

“Absolutely Mr. Kwon. It’s an honor to have you here. You can go».

“Don’t tell her I am here, I want to surprise her, please”. He says, as if spilling her a secret, a bright smile adoring his face but still shy and uncomfortable about being there.

“Very good. Let’s go, it’s this way” the lady says pointing to the right.

With a knowing smirk on his face, Jiyong walked down the corridor, towards the board room.The halls are almost empty but there are still a few people at their desks, working on their computers, unaware of his presence. For some reason, he feels like a child, about to do something stupid and it’s exciting. And as he got closer to the conference room, he was able to recognize Miso’s voice. Her voice was animated and enthusiastic, like it always is whenever she talks about photography or an assignment she was interested in.

And as he heard the voices inside, he stops in his tracks wanting to wait for her to finish her discussion. But, that was when he hears it. That familiar melodious voice from the night before. The voice that made him forget himself. Jiyong was stunned for a second. He didn’t know if he was imagining things or if it was the exact same voice. His eyes widened in disbelief. And at the exact moment, as if on cue, Miso emerges from the room, and Ji follows her line of vision as if he’s looking for someone to come after, behind her. And that was when he saw her. The beautiful lady he saw at the event.

Jiyong’s heart skips a beat, he must be dreaming. He thought he would never see her again. She was everything he remembered her to be like. The soft yet powerful aura, her sun kissed skin, the way her dark hair came tumbling down her shoulders, highlighting her graceful neck and the way she dressed and carried herself with class. It was mesmerizing. With his eyes wide, unable to move, he stood still in the middle of the hallway, for a second, for a minute, he doesn't even remember. What is he gonna do? What is he gonna say? Is it too late to walk away and hide?

He jolts out of his day dreams when Miso elbows him with a quizzical expression on her face. But all he could do is blink at her, a blank expression on his face. And just as he was about to say something his eyes are met with the lady standing in front of him. And Jiyong, being the lost case he was, finds himself unable to look anywhere else except her eyes. He only saw her from a distance the night before and now that he’s faced with her, he found himself getting sucked into the depths of those ocean green eyes. As if he was staring into the wide waters themselves. Lapping, crashing and wavering. He never saw such beauty before. Beauty entwined with chaos. He felt like he was suspended within that moment, unable to break away.

And then, as if to completely enrapture him, the lady brings one of her delicately slender fingers to smoothen and tuck a stray hair behind her ear. It seemed like, she too cannot seem to break the eye contact. Or was it his wishful thinking?

How long had he stayed like that looking like a complete idiot? He can’t tell. Lost in the beautiful eyes that are staring right back at him, trying to read the expression painted on her face. He could feel the moment he was sharing with her and just like that it’s broken when Miso clears her throat louder than necessary. Blinking, the two of them look towards her. She was just smiling widely at them, her gaze a bit curious and also bit familiar. Ji could almost tell what she was thinking. And then, a familiar voice fills the air. The sound ringing like chimes tinkling to the wind. And Jiyong thought he could very much fall in love with a voice such as that.

“Hi Mister Kwon, it’s a pleasure meeting you.” The lady says a bit hastily as if she was in a hurry, Ji never expected her to be the one to speak first, “ We weren’t expecting you here today”. She continues, side eyeing Miso unsure if she had forgotten anything about any meeting.

Ji was supposed to say something. He knows he has to talk. But he was more than surprised that Lilly knew him. She said his name even before he introduced himself. Why is he so surprised when he really shouldn’t? He found himself unable to move, unable to return her polite greeting, unable to reach out to her, momentarily transformed into a smiling statue.

Miso takes this as her cue and says, “Ji, this is my boss and also one of my close friends, Lilly, Lilly as you can see, this is my best friend Ji”.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Miss Lilly”, Ji says, surprisingly in a straight voice without stuttering as he expected himself too. And at this, Lilly’s eyes widen, “Oh! I never realized that you were the Ji, Minnie mentions a lot”.

“Miso talks about me? Oh! Should I be scared?” Was the only thing he could think of to say, internally grimacing at himself right after the last word leaves his mouth. He should’ve said something more intelligent, more interesting. He doesn’t understand why, but all he knows is that he wants to impress her.

“Oh no no, not at all.”, She smiles at him, “ She just mentions often that she was doing this and that and… “

And god her smile is to die for. Ji was just transfixed to his spot, unable to take his eyes off her.

And that’s when an unexpected intrusion breaks the charm and the moment. He didn't see the man coming by, subjugated by the beauty in front of him. But then again no one did. That woman is gonna be the end of him, he’s sure of that.

“Madam, we need your signature here”. He tended a document to Lilly, she signed without paying attention to it, and the man added, “we are waiting for you in Chan’s office”.

“Ok, coming, I want to see the end of it too, I want to go home early tonight, I’m still tired from the event last night”.

“Early? It was already 8h30, how is this early?” Ji thought a bit bewildered. And no, she can’t be leaving like that. He’s not done talking to her yet. He wants more. He wants to hear her voice even more. It was weird. He feels like he wants to talk to her more but at the same time, he was so flustered he wants to run away. It was a strange craving.

“Very good madam, we’ll be waiting for you,'' the man says, bowing to Lilly.

And then the charm is really broken as Lilly turns to Miso, a sweet smile adoring her face.

“Go on ahead Minnie, we’ll finish this tomorrow. Thank you for your hard work today, you were not even supposed to come for work considering it’s a sunday. You are a lifesaver. '' Miso was left grinning ear to ear at her words. Lilly then, turns to Jiyong, “Take care of my little Min Sun, she’s really precious to me Mr. Kwon. Anyway, it was nice to finally meet her best friend. Have a good night, enjoy.'' And just like that, she turns around and walks away without sparing them a glance. Not even once. But Ji for his part, can’t find himself to look anywhere else other than at her, as her graceful figure goes farther away into the background. A dream like smile scotched on his face.

Perhaps it’s the fates working, or if it was destiny that lead to this reunion, Jiyong would forever be grateful for that. And as he left the office with Miso by his side, he prayed at the back of his mind for fate to carry him to her once again.

Summary:

Just another A/B/O story with a twist. Set in a world where humans are divided from the supernatural, species have a yearly run to find new members of their pack, expand their territory. Now, he has to learn how to navigate having six new mates while the looming threat of human hunters draws closer by the day. Of course, things can never be easy when there are secrets around every corner and happy endings are hard to earn.

When Yoongi woke up, he felt more comfortable than he'd been in years. His cheek was resting against a warm chest that rose and fell in time with his own. Another body, cooler than the one in front of him, was pressed up against his back and breath tickled his neck. Somewhere in the room, a sound was echoing, some sort of squelch and blankets rustling. The room was cast in shadows, it was probably some time around sunrise, but he couldn't be sure. Yoongi tried to lean up and look around for the source of the noise, but the body behind him tightened his hold, pulling the Omega back down.

Now, more awake, Yoongi noticed the shifting to his side. His breath seemed to get stuck in his throat, face heating up in embarrassment as he watched Jin's hand card through Namjoon's hair. The Prime Alpha was leaning back against the headboard, his right hand stuck under Hoseok's head. Light reflected off the ridges of his horns and the high points of his face, casting him in a regal glow. Namjoon was settled further down, his head nestled between the demon's legs. Yoongi's throat went dry when Jin tugged the Beta up to smile down at him. Brown eyes were bleeding into gold around Namjoon's pupils and he smiled in return before he delved back down.

Yoongi felt guilty at the way his pulse quickened watching Namjoon's lips stretch around Jin's cock, pressing his legs together in response to the wet noises coming from the couple. This was invasive, but he couldn't look away. At least the others were asleep, or so he hoped and didn't notice him gawking at the men in front of him. Resisting the urge to lick his lips, he listened to Jin's breath quickening, unable to tear his gaze away. There was something unreal about the scene, the way that their noises filled the quiet room, how they seemed to move in time with the pack's breathing. Yoongi was captivated.

Jin was murmuring quiet encouragement in-between his sighs and Yoongi could see his fingers flexing in Namjoon's hair, controlling the Beta's pace. Chills ran down Yoongi's spine like cold water when Jin cursed, bucking his hips into Namjoon's mouth and he snapped his eyes shut, clenching them tightly as he burrowed his face into Hoseok's chest. With his eyes closed, he didn't see the Lycan look over towards him, a smirk on his lips.

When Yoongi woke up again, it was because he couldn't breathe properly. Taehyung had him in a vice-like grip, whining under his breath as he nuzzled deeper into the Omega's neck. As he became more cognizant, Yoongi realized the others were talking and shifting around him.

"C'mon Tae, give him some room to breathe."

Yoongi didn't immediately recognize the voice and Taehyung just grumbled, adjusting his grip and wrapping his leg around Yoongi's hip to further secure himself.

"Smell good."

The voice against his ear was deep, deep enough that it pushed the air out of his lungs in a sigh and rough from sleep. To punctuate the statement, Taehyung brushed his lips against the column of Yoongi's neck, mouthing lightly against his skin.

"Smells good, but wrong."

This time his voice was almost petulant and Yoongi heard someone chuckle from behind them.

"That's because he spent so long blocking it. It'll be a while before his scent goes back to normal."

Jimin explained, still weakly attempting to pull the Alpha away from Yoongi.

"C'mon, Tae. Let him go so he can get ready. I'll feed you."

Taehyung only shook his head, his mouthing turning into gentle kisses along Yoongi's neck and the Omega's face must have been bright red at this point, but he didn't try to move away. It felt...nice. Comforting to have the vampire wrapped around him.

"Let him up, Tae, and I'll feed you."

Now Taehyung practically lunged up, keeping his legs entangled with Yoongi's as he grinned at Seokjin.

"Really? You never feed me."

When Jin rolled his eyes, nodded, then gestured for Taehyung to follow him, he was off the bed trotting at Jin's heels in a heartbeat. Yoongi silently mourned the loss of his cuddle buddy. During the exchange, Hoseok and Namjoon had also slipped away, leaving their Omega with Jeongguk and Jimin.

"Taehyung is clingy, but you'll get used to it. That door right there is a bathroom," Jimin explained, gesturing to a door at the far wall, "Anything you need should be in there. We'll probably be staying in here until your scent is back to normal so we can actually claim you, then you'll get your own room. Jeongguk will wait for you to finish and show you to the dining room, but no rush."

And with that, the incubus slinked out of the room, leaving Yoongi alone with the youngest, and seemingly shyest, pack member. When Yoongi looked over towards him, he only got a meek smile and nod in confirmation to Jimin's words.

"Right, then I'll uh...go get ready." Yoongi mumbled, practically running into the bathroom to avoid the awkward atmosphere.

The bathroom was everything Yoongi would imagine a guest bathroom to be. Nothing like the shower room from last night, it was clean, neat and stark white. Rather than mull over his situation, Yoongi took his time brushing his teeth and washing his face. He was still in the clothing Jimin had put him in last night, but he assumed that would be on their list of things to take care of later.

Taking a deep breath, Yoongi looked at himself in the mirror. It didn't seem right, his reflection. It felt like something should have changed about him, but he looked exactly the same as he had before the run. The only thing that would actually change would be his claim mark and those were usually hidden. Yet, he felt like he stuck out like a sore thumb. Clearly, the pack functioned well on their own. They moved like a unit without even trying, all muscular handsome men who seemed painfully soft for one another. Yoongi's messy sky hair and scrawny stature just didn't fit in with the rest of them. What did that mean for the future of their relationship? What if nothing about him ever fit in with them?

Shaking himself out of the negative thoughts, Yoongi sighed and stepped out of the bathroom, coming face to face with Jeongguk again. The taller man still seemed uncomfortable, toying with the hem of his shirt and offering another weak smile to the Omega.

"With everything Jimin told me about how you reacted to this mess, I would've thought you'd be more talkative."

Yoongi regretted the words as soon as they left his mouth and Jeongguk's face fell. Fuck. He wasn't supposed to upset this kid. Jeongguk looked hurt, his expression crestfallen and Yoongi immediately backpedaled.

"Shit, uh, sorry. I was joking. Breaking the tension. I'm just kidding, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings."

The irony that he was saying this to one of the most muscular Alpha males he'd ever seen was not lost on Yoongi. Chewing on the inside of his cheek, he quietly berated himself for babbling as well. He was supposed to be Min Yoongi, take no shit, communicates with eye rolling and grunts. Oh, how the mighty fall. At least Jeongguk seemed to accept his apology, his smile seeming more genuine and less like a grimace.

"It's okay. I'm sorry too, I haven't gone through this yet."

Gesturing between himself and Yoongi, it became clear what this meant. Right. Jeongguk was the newest addition to this pack before this run. For some reason, Yoongi felt relieved. Someone else here was struggling as much as he was and although he could hear his mothers voice reminding him not to take pleasure from other people's pain, the thought was comforting. At least he wasn't the only one trying to find his footing. His thoughts must have shown on his face and Jeongguk's smile brightened before he laughed.

"It'll be awkward for a while, I'm sure, but..." He took pause, looking down at his hands before smiling bashfully up at Yoongi, "I know we're all really glad you're here." His words were soft, almost whispered and the Alpha immediately looked embarrassed.

Yoongi, on the other hand, was cursing mentally. He'd never met such an adorable Alpha before. He was doomed, absolutely doomed. This kid was already carving away a spot in his cold, dead heart. This entire pack seemed to effortlessly notice his insecurities and dismiss them like they were nothing. Like he hadn't spent years wallowing over them.

"You say that now, but I'm kind of an asshole."

There was a lightness to Yoongi's words that wasn't there prior and Jeongguk only smiled wider, shrugging his shoulders.

"Well, good luck convincing everyone of that over breakfast. Jin is cooking, which means you better be prepared to have one of the best meals of your life. Jin's a chef and owns his own fancy restaurant and stuff, so it's special when he decides to cook for us."

Jeongguk explained. The mention of food had Yoongi's stomach growling in agreement. He hadn't eaten since yesterday morning and hunger hit him like a train. Jeongguk laughed at the sound, the earlier tension in the room fully dissipating.

"Yeah, I'm sure you're starving. Sorry, we should have gotten you food last night, but we were all too tired to think about it."

Yoongi dismissed his apology with the wave of a hand. He probably wouldn't have been able to eat the night before anyway, too exhausted from the day's events. Without another word, he allowed Jeongguk to lead him out of the room and down the hallway. The entire house was massive, clearly, the pack splurged on more than just the bathroom he had been in the last night. That would take some getting used to. Despite having money to afford more than his shitty studio apartment, that's where he stayed. It was large enough for everything he needed and small enough to keep out unwanted guests.

Before they reached the kitchen, Yoongi could hear the pack. They were certainly a noisy bunch. When they reached the threshold, it became apparent why they were all yelling. Jin was using one hand to push potatoes around in a pan and the other one to keep Hoseok off of him. Jimin was trying to guard a tray of bacon from Namjoon and Taehyung's wandering fingers, snapping at the other two when they'd get by him and pop a piece into their mouth.

The only one who seemed to take note of their newest member's entry was Jin, who smiled softly at Yoongi while Jeongguk led him to take a seat at the counter. Like everything else that seemed to surround the pack, the scene was entirely domestic, like it had come right from a movie. When Jin finally shooed off Hoseok, directing him to get drinks ready, Yoongi watched the Beta prance over to place a kiss on Jeongguk's cheek. He leaned towards Yoongi, as if to do the same, but hesitated. Instead, he pulled away and smiled, ducking his head down while he went to follow Jin's request and pull cups out of a cabinet.

Before he knew it, the scene changed. Jeongguk had claimed the spot to his right and Namjoon to his left when breakfast was served. Yoongi didn't have the energy to be embarrassed about how quickly he scarfed down his plate of food, or how Jimin laughed when he slid seconds in front of the Omega. Conversation buzzed around him and Yoongi caught onto bits and pieces, mostly about work or plans for the week after the run.

Most people were given three days off from the end of the run if they claimed a new pack member. It was enough time to actually claim them, get their things moved to the pack house and try to settle emotions. Which meant he'd probably have almost a week alone with his new pack. Yoongi didn't understand why the thought was like a weight dropping in his stomach, but dread snuck in quickly. The conversation around him was getting too loud, filling his thoughts with chatter and gods, Yoongi didn't want this forever.

The rest of the pack seemed oblivious to the Omega's mental breakdown. The rest of the pack, minus Jeongguk. Next to him, the youngest member had a hand on Yoongi's shoulder, his brow furrowed with concern. Yoongi didn't realize he was hyperventilating until finally, there was blissful silence aside from his gasping breaths. Rather than look up, accept that he was probably being stared down by six other men, Yoongi glanced down at his knuckles, white from their grip on the counter. It felt...strange. Kind of like he was floating, watching himself panic. He'd have to look into it later.

"Hey, do you want to go outside."

Yoongi blinked quickly, trying to clarify Jeongguk's face. The young Alpha was cupping his face in his hands, giving something for Yoongi to ground himself in. He was nodding, his hands moving from the counter to grip at Jeongguk's arms and suddenly he was literally in the air, having been effortlessly scooped up by the Alpha. Everything was too bright and Yoongi's face scrunched up in response as he was sat back down.

Right, it was daytime. Slowly, or perhaps not, he couldn't be sure, Yoongi could breathe again. But just because he could breathe again didn't mean his fear dissipated. The worst part was that he didn't know why or where it all came from.

"Do you, uh, do you want to scent me?"

At least that snapped Yoongi out of his own head. Yoongi looked up to scowl up at Jeongguk, who immediately raised his hands in defense.

"I'm not trying to be funny! It's, uh...Namjoon used to have me scent him to calm down when I went through...this. Or at least something similar to this."

Gods, this whole thing was going to get so much worse for him.

"I've never...I don't know how to scent someone." Yoongi croaked in response, pulling his legs to his chest and burying his head into his knees.

It was supposed to be the most natural thing in the world, scenting people. Parents, friends, dates, whatever. Scenting was supposed to just be a normal part of life, but Yoongi avoided it like the plague. He never let anyone near his neck, mostly out of protection. Fae were rare and often drew unwanted attention due to their naturally more appealing smell. So, Yoongi found ways not only to avoid scenting but to mask his scent completely.

"That's okay." And before Yoongi could snap that it certainly wasn't okay, Jeongguk delved a hand into the hair on the back of Yoongi's head and pulled him against his neck. "All you have to do is...breathe? It'll...you'll get it." The Alpha explained gently.

Yoongi's body wanted to pull away, but the Omega voice he'd suppressed for almost his whole life was in heaven, cooing at the attention. This was uncomfortable, being held up against a stranger's neck. It was uncomfortable until the Alpha's scent hit him and suddenly Yoongi was gasping for more. He smelled like citrus and mint, something clean but spicy. It was dizzying. Yoongi's hands were back on Jeongguk's arms as he nuzzled into the Alpha's neck, trying to get closer to the source of the delicious smell.

"See, you're a natural."

Jeongguk said with a laugh, carding his hand through the Omega's hair. Whereas when he was floating before he felt disconnected, this time the only thing Yoongi felt was comfort. Jeongguk just sat there, petting Yoongi's head as he slowly came down from his panic. At least now Yoongi understood why people were so obsessed with smelling each other. If everyone smelled like Jeongguk did, he'd never want to stop.

"Better now?"

Yoongi flushed bright red at the question, clearing his throat as he backed away from the Alpha. He didn't notice the disappointment in Jeongguk's eyes when they separated.

"Yeah. Thanks. I don't really know what happened there."

Well, that was partly true. Everyone had mentioned his emotions would be all over the place, he'd just never expected it to be like this. He'd never experienced anything so intense before.

"It's okay. It literally happens to everyone. Are you okay to go back inside now or do you want to wait?"

Not about to seem like a little bitch twice in a row, Yoongi followed Jeongguk back into the house, ignoring the way his shoulders naturally hunched inward, trying to make himself smaller. As if the ground would just swallow him up if he tried hard enough.

Fortunately, once again no one took particular note of their entrance into the kitchen. Hoseok was washing dishes and handing them to Taehyung to dry while Namjoon put them back in cabinets.

"Sorry that we missed cleanup."

Jeongguk called out, leaning against the counter to grin at the three pack members who were working. Taehyung turned around, attitude clear on his face, but he was cut off by Namjoon. "Don't be ridiculous. It's more important that you calm Yoongi down, we have enough hands."

Yoongi cringed at the immediate reminder of his freak out, but couldn't get too upset about it. The sentiment behind it was kind of them.

"We should try to take care of that, though."

Jin commented from his seat at the bar, resting his cheek in a hand as he looked over at the Omega.

"I know things have been rushed, but that just tends to be how things play out. When they're done cleaning we'll have a proper introduction to everyone. Before that, we need to talk about you moving your things." Yoongi nodded along as Jin spoke, folding his hands neatly in his lap. "We'd prefer that you move in here with us, but we're not going to force you if you're completely opposed to it."

"I'm...I'm okay with it. I mean, it's going to be weird and I'm used to having my own space, but it doesn't make sense for me to live on the other side of the city." Yoongi replied, earning a smile out of Jin. He didn't have the heart to tell his new Alpha exactly how little he actually owned.

"Good, I'm glad. Hoseok and Namjoon can help you start to move your things later today. If they're with you, you won't be stopped. You can pick out whatever room you want. We all have rooms in the west wing, but if you're concerned about space there are open rooms in the east wing, away from the noisy ones." Gesturing with his chin to the three washing dishes, Jin got an indignant cry in response, but none of them tried to defend themselves.

"More importantly, I need to know what you did to block your sent so heavily."

Now Yoongi was uncomfortable again. Running his tongue over his teeth, he shifted on his seat. "Nothing bad. There's a mix of herbs I made into tea and I would drink a cup every morning. That and heat suppressants."

It was clear that Jin wanted to press him further as to what exactly he'd been drinking, but was holding himself back. Instead, he clicked his tongue. "You won't be taking heat suppressants or drinking that tea anymore. Okay?"

When Yoongi paused before answering, Jin wrapped his fingers around Yoongi's chin, forcing the Omega to meet his dark eyes. "You will never do that again. Okay?"

His voice was pure, unadulterated Alpha and Yoongi scrambled to nod his head, obey the leader of his pack. Immediately, the demon's face softened and he released his grip on Yoongi's chin, sliding his hand along his neck instead.

"Good, I'm glad. Now I think it's past time you were properly introduced to your new pack."

1. ultimate bias(es)? - zelo, since B.A.P is my ultimate bias group and the group that got me into kpop. he’s amazing and adorable, his voice, his rapping, his dancing. the way he adorably blinks, his smile. I adore him and respect him so much as a person. aaaaaand then we have heechul, don’t even get me started on this sassy ass. I love how comfortable he is, really open and nice. but also sassy and doesn’t care what people think and that they joke about him being feminine and gay, he just owns it and doesn’t care (which for me is how you should react). also his voice, his smile. jfc I love him so much

2. who are your top 3 groups? - monsta x, bts, got7 (some might wonder why not b.a.p? That's bc they are my kings and transcends everything when it comes to top things)

3. what are your 3 favourite songs? - for the moment these are the ones I wanna listen to on repeat; kpop: wake me up - b.a.p, movie - btob, I'll be yours - girls day. other: follow you - bmth, the sound of silence - disturbed, skin - rihanna

6. do you have a dream job? - I wanna work with risk assessment within forensic psychiatry, it's what I enjoyed most during university (I have a bachelors degree in criminology). I'm currently working within that field, just not really with risk assessments at the moment. right now I’m content with just getting experience within the field

8. what do you love most about your bias group(s)? - omg everything? their voices, the melodies, the stories within the lyrics. I always find a song (or pretty much all of the songs) that I can relate to, and the way that these songs can make me feel so much happiness. also the groups personality, I love watching behind the scenes footage, vlive, or shows they’re on. because seeing them just fooling around is one of the most beautiful things to me

9. who are your ultimate bias wreckers? - B.A.P - bias: zelo, bias wrecker: daehyun Monsta X - bias: changkyun, bias wrecker: THE WHOLE GODDAMN GROUP, IT WAS ALREADY HARD ACTUALLY PICKING A BIAS???? 10. what do you wish for the most to happen? - people growing up and stop hating on everyone else that isn’t like them? like, everyone showing respect for each other.

11. when did you get into kpop and how? - I have known about kpop for a long time but never got into it because I was lame and thought it was weird when I was younger (don’t judge me, I’m repenting now haha). but it was like a year and a half ago I think? Me and @septemberpoems were discussing guys with base voices, so she started talking about a few guys that had really low voices, and like “I’m linking it later tonight”. So she sent me Warrior - B.A.P and Nillili Mambo - Block B. After that moment I was stuck haha. Or as she so beautifully put it “hannie’s kpop obsession literally started with a five sentence conversation about babyfaced koreans on the bus from ikea”

12. what made you decide to have a tumblr blog? - I think it started from that I wanted to find more pictures and gifs, so I found tumblr and then got stuck

13. favorite colour? - green and blue

14. favorite animal? - I love pretty much all animals, how can you not? but cats is always a favourite, also adore red pandas

15. what are your interests? - music, singing, drawing, writing. and languages, it’s something I’ve always had a knack for. I speak swedish and english fluently, then I also studied german in school and I’m currently learning korean. also know a little latin from my singing days. I’d like to learn more

17. what would you like to achieve (or experience) before the age of 60? - hopefully seeing some of my favourite bands, but mostly just living a good life. I have one thing that I wanna do before I die and that’s drive my favourite car (preferably owning it) a camaro ss

Appearing before the Dramacourt: Hwarang: Poet Warrior Youth Eps 11-12 (We decided to combine these two eps because there wasn’t much happening in ep 11)

Issues:

Whether Han Sung and his brother’s issues were realistic?

Whether having a bracelet be a symbol for recognizing the King is less than ideal?

Whether the way rumours spread is portrayed accurately?

Whether coming from a “good family” equals better treatment?

The Rule(s):

Not really. It feels like it came out of nowhere and the viewers were blindsided.

Again, not really. What if it fell off your hand and then someone else picked it up? They could just as easily make a claim to the throne.

Yes. It’s very accurate and realistic. If you stand in a hallway in high school and watch, its exactly how rumours spread.

Application:

RedRosette J: Again, episode 11 was a whole bunch of filler, so we felt that it wasn’t worth doing a whole post on it. Basically what happened was that Sun Woo and Ji Dwi spent some quality bromance bonding time, Sun Woo and Aro finally ended up on the same page about liking each other, and the pointless princess tried to assassinate Aro. Oh and someone started a rumour that the King was within Hwarang. The episode had a 30 second recap at the end that summed up the important points of the entire episode and if you don’t have time to watch the whole thing, I recommend watching that because its basically better than wasting your time watching pointless filler.

Okay then. This is happening.

That Pointless Princess is the worst assassin ever!

RedRosette J: Episode 12 was basically all the characters dealing with the aftermath of the revelation of the King being inside the Hwarangs. It was quite slow and I had a hard time staying focused. There was a lot of Taehyung in this episode and I’m not going to lie, in comparison to the actor playing his brother, his angsty acting was quite cringey. (Sorry Taehyungie) We do see Soo Ho and Ban Ryu hanging out a lot and actually being friends at this point I think, so that’s nice. I’m not even going to touch that whole Soo Ho carrying the Queen thing with a ten foot pole. *sigh* What is the point of this crush? Is it to make viewers cringe? Because that definitely happened! Perhaps the biggest thing in this episode is the Chief Instructor figuring out that Ji Dwi is the King and Sun Woo also starting to figure it out. Nothing else really happened. The plot always seems to develop so slowly in this drama….

Jubiemon J: I’m going to be talking about both of the episodes. I was talking to RedRosette and I was like . . . hang on, we’re more than half way through the drama, but why do I feel like nothing much has happened? I don’t recall seeing tons of bromance scenes either. Just a few here and there. I thought it was kind of stupid/funny that the princess was saying how she was hunting for deer, if I remember correctly. Like please . . . These two episodes weren’t super memorable. I watched them a few days ago and I don’t remember any scenes that made me go WOW. I think the only part that I do remember is Hansung and his older brother’s little fight and the reason that I remember it is not a good one. That conflict came out of nowhere and it made it seem like Hansung’s character suddenly lost his mind or had some hormonal fluctuations that caused him to lash out like that. Yes, as much as I like BTS’ V/Taehyung, his acting for those scenes was cringey. It didn’t help him that the older brother had better acting skills; that just made Taehyung’s acting seem even more unpolished. I’ll cut him some slack because this is his first major acting gig and the writing of the scenes didn’t help his character either. The conflict sort of blew out of nowhere. Taehyung, though, was good at his aegyo acting when he pretended to hurt his foot.

Issue 1: Whether Han Sung and his brother’s issues were realistic?

RedRosette J: So this came out of nowhere for me. Jubiemon and I were talking about this too. It initially seemed like Han Sung was okay or accepting of Dan Se and the whole ‘Half-Bone’ or whatever situation. Even if the inferiority complex was supposed to develop over time, it wasn’t obvious to the viewers because a) the character didn’t have much screen time and b) when he was on screen he was on for like a second and that too for being cutesy. There was no time in between for us to see that the character was having these issues with his brother. Not to mention, Dan Se disappeared for like half of the drama and was suddenly re-introduced to us last week or something. I’m sure the issues are realistic; it makes sense that Han Sung would feel inferior to his athletically skilled brother considering the pressure that he was under as the ‘True-Bone’ or whatever to be the perfect son and all that. However, it’s the way that the issues were conveyed to the viewers that was problematic. Maybe a revision of the script is in order?

Jubiemon J: I mentioned this in my previous paragraph, so I’ll keep this part short. I agree with what RedRosette said. Han Sung and his brother’s issues weren’t realistic because of a mix of poor character development from writing and perhaps Taehyung’s inexperience with acting. I say the latter point f0r these reasons. Do Jihan doesn’t appear in that many scenes, yet he manages to translate his character’s conflict with his family well onto the screen. I can feel his inner turmoil. Another side character, Yeo Wool, does a good job of being the voice of reason and arguably the “Fool” that we see in Shakespearean plays. Even with the poor writing, if Taehyung were more experienced in acting like the two actors, he could have been able to show the little bits of annoyance/frustration with his responsibility as a “pure bred”. I do think he executes the aeygo, playful scenes much better, probably because that’s more like the fan service he does or more like his on-screen personality as a BTS member. I hope he does take some acting lessons in the future if he wants to pursue acting later on.

Issue 2: Whether having a bracelet be a symbol for recognizing the King is less than ideal?

RedRosette J: This made absolutely no sense to me. How were they supposed to figure out who was King if the only thing that people had to go on was the bracelet which, as in this drama, kept switching owners? It seems like a very silly way to figure out who is King. They need a tattoo or an obvious birth mark or something. Also, for a guy trying to be inconspicuous, why would you go around wearing the bracelet with the King’s mark on it? That makes absolutely no sense at all. -_-

Jubiemon J: Yes that bracelet symbolizing the King was quite . . . silly. Anyone could have made that bracelet if they could spot the design. Sigh.

Seriously??

Issue 3: Whether the way rumours spread is portrayed accurately?

RedRosette J: This I found to be very accurately portrayed. This is exactly how rumours spread in high school…or anywhere really. Someone gets a hunch about something and tells someone else who tells someone else and so on and so on. Before you know it, everyone already knows and its absolute chaos. These guys are also quite a gossipy bunch for warriors.

Jubiemon J: I think secretly we all like a bit of gossip and drama, so if there’s something juicy and scandalous, most people will talk about it. Word of mouth is powerful. Gossip spreading isn’t something that only happens among girls, I think. Guys can be just as guilty, so I’m kind of glad that this drama showed how guys can get into the gossip.

Issue 4: Whether coming from a “good family” equals better treatment?

RedRosette J: Apparently this is a thing in this drama. Everything is based on your family background and all that so I guess it makes sense in this drama world, but in reality, I’m not sure if this is a thing exactly. Maybe if you were a celebrity, people might bend over backwards for you, but a “good family” doesn’t really mean much in today’s reality. But then again, it’s a very complicated topic and would depend on the society you live in and the ideals and norms that it ascribes to. Either way, this drama is all about dem genetics!

Jubiemon J: I think this problem of “good family” getting better treatment still happens even today. I agree that it might depend on where you live, but I think this is something that is prevalent. Maybe in some parts of the world it’s worse than others. Even over here, if your family is well-connected, your job prospects are far better. Let’s say you go to a luxury retail store and you’re dressed like you are rich/come from a good family, you’re likely to get better customer service. Over here, a good family might get your foot in the door somewhere, but it’s not detrimental if you come from an average family. It might be harder for you compared to the one with all the fame/wealth, but at least in Canada, there’s a sense of meritocracy. Yes, in this drama though . . . it’s all about the bloodline.

Conclusion: Appeal Dismissed.

Rating: 2 = Yell At The Writer (Sorry but a lot of things could have been dealt with better in these episodes)
