So about the bikes separate from the poll just so that post doesn't become all jumbled with photos and I can make sure I am completely up front because I want to be genuine
So bikes are cheaper and cars keep being extremely problematic for my husband and I
We don't have kids and it's just the two of us so two motorcycles are actually a really convenient and viable option for us
(They are also more eco friendly if you take care of them right but that's for another day)
So no matter what way the vote goes I am getting a bike
However, bikes are still more than a grand and while we can afford it, we can't afford it.
It's one of those weird spots of like yes we can. But everything else will be tight
That's where the vote idea came in from
I am unable to find jobs that are actually hiring
AND my career field of costuming, sewing, etc is dying. No one has these skills anymore unless they are really old or weird gremlins like me. So sewing shops that would hire me are impossible to find
So I thought hey I know how to cosplay and I'm professionally trained (it was actually a certificate I was pursuing they just refused to offer the last 2 classes) in it
Maybe other people would like to see me actually cosplay and watch and learn how to make good quality costumes and props from scratch/as scratch as possible
This happened to coincide with us looking at bikes and an tiny event on tiktok where I got yelled at by cosplayers for saying I wasn't a professional so I decided to ask if people would be interested in a cosplay that combines everything together
The vote isn't over yet but so far (I voted just to see the votes but it doesn't skew the results I promise) everyone seems in favor so unless a bunch of people suddenly vote no I am going to start setting stuff up
In the meantime here are the update bikes we are looking at
Tumblr media
2008 Suzuki, owner already responded. They are active duty military and is on a training thing so when they come back we be looking at the bike
The silhouette is already pretty close to Lloyd's main thing I would need to do is paint. And then I would probably change the tires to handle touring (long distances). I may also make the mirrors bigger. This will make my ability to see better and also aids in the cartoonish look
Older bike that might make it harder to find parts if it ever needs a repair
Clean title
*my husband is also active duty and this may give us good negotiating leverage
Tumblr media
2018 Suzuki, owner has not responded and some of the pictures appear to be stock photos which makes me a little wary because that's unusual for a non dealership seller
Same cosmetics as the above bike
Newer bike if it needs to repaired we can probably find the parts. But it may require more premium gas
Clean title
Tumblr media
2005 Kawasaki Ninja, only recently found it. I will be showing it to my husband when he gets back from work. I haven't contacted the owner yet because my husband is not in the loop yet
Would just need paint, bigger mirrors and the touring tires
Older bike might make repairs difficult
No titled mentioned
Those are the 3 bikes, because the title isn't mentioned on the ninja it will likely get removed.
Unfortunately theft is common in my area and my husband and I have even had a vehicle stolen from us so anything that doesn't have a title is sketchy
Anyways I hope this was informative and not just me rambling and I will be working on that youtube video today if my internet likes me enough

My new normal
Since my husband has left for training I've woken up around 8am/9am (god I hate even typing that out) not because I want to but because I just can't seem to ever sleep. I can't bring myself to actually leave my house to go and do things since I'm always afraid I'll end up doing something that would cause me to miss a phone call and I don't want to do that.
My new routine is this though:
8am: Get up, take meds/feed dog 10am: clean kitchen from yesterdays dinner 11am-5pm: Whatever random task I have or nothing at all 6pm: Start dinner 8pm: Go to the gym 10pm: come home/ shower 12am: take meds/ go to sleep
that's essentially what I do. Not every day of course, I would want to off myself if I went to the gym every day, but for the most part I do next to nothing. I'm trying to find some sort of hobby outside of writing my husband letters and writing on this blog but nothing seems worth it. I just feel so apathetic towards everything currently and I can't even bring myself to care anymore.
I would get a job but gas is over $3.50 a gallon in my area and nothing around here pays enough or with enough hours to even cover the gas it would cost to get to said job. And there's no point in a work from home job since the whole point would be for me to get out and interact with other people. I feel like I'm stuck in a never ending spiral of negative energy and just woe is me bullshit that I can't pull myself out of. And I hate it so fucking much. I know everything will be worth it in the end but right now I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel and I am horrified thinking that this is just my new life.

So, let's dive into this topic and learn how you can effectively harness the potential of personal storytelling for the betterment of your entrepreneurial journey.
Here are the steps to get Power of storytelling in achieving personal and business growth.:
1. Identify the core message of your personal story 2. Reflect on your personal experiences and challenges 3. Develop a compelling narrative structure
1. Identify the core message of your personal story Storytelling is an age-old tradition, but it's also a powerful way to connect with others, share our experiences, and relate to one another. From a business standpoint, personal storytelling can help build connections with customers and foster a sense of trust and understanding. The first key step to using this powerful tool is to identify the core message of your personal story. To do this, think about the lessons learned, the triumphs and struggles, and the pivotal moments that make your story unique. The central message should be something that will truly resonate with your audience and provide meaning, relevance, or guidance.
LaQuita Parks, the founder of Pa-Pro-Vi Publishing, knows the significant impact that personal storytelling can have, as discussed on the podcast with LaQuita Monley. Parks turned her experience of overcoming trauma and adversity into a mission to help others do the same, through sharing their stories and connecting with others. Parks is living proof that everyone has a unique and powerful story to tell, and finding that core message can lead to significant personal and business growth. Pa-Pro-Vi Publishing's emphasis on giving authors the platform to tell their stories demonstrates the power of personal storytelling and the positive influence it can have on others. Identifying and sharing the core message of your personal story is important for several reasons.
First, it humanizes your business and helps customers see the real person behind the venture. By sharing your experiences, struggles, and triumphs, customers understand the motivation and purpose driving the business. This genuine connection can directly translate into increased interest, loyalty, and ultimately, sales. Second, this sharing provides a means of relatability – listeners may identify with aspects of your story even if they have never been in the same situation and can apply the lessons and perspectives from your experiences to their lives. Lastly, the process of personal storytelling can also be therapeutic, offering an opportunity for self-reflection and healing, thereby contributing to personal growth as well. By tapping into the power of personal storytelling and sharing the core message of your experiences, both your business and your customers can benefit significantly.
2. Reflect on your personal experiences and challenges Using personal storytelling to connect with your customers is an essential part of any successful marketing strategy. By reflecting on your own personal experiences and challenges, you can build deeper relationships with your audience and demonstrate your ability to empathize with their needs. Personal storytelling is a powerful way to showcase your expertise and credibility while making your brand more relatable to your target market.
La'Quita Parks, the founder and CEO of Pa-Pro-Vi Publishing, is an inspiring example of how sharing your personal experiences and challenges can truly impact others. This key step has made her business relatable and personable, which ultimately leads to deeper connections with her audience and customers. Practicing personal storytelling is a powerful way for entrepreneurs to create emotional connections with their target audience, as it makes the brand more authentic and approachable.
By sharing your unique experiences, insights, and challenges, you can inspire, educate, and empathize with your customers. This authentic connection is essential for branding, as it allows your business to truly resonate with your customers on a deeper level.
Personal storytelling can humanize your brand while also highlighting your expertise, making it a key marketing tool that should not be overlooked. By reflection on your personal experiences and challenges, you can create a compelling business narrative that will engage and resonate with your audience, ultimately setting your business up for success.
3. Develop a compelling narrative structure Developing a compelling narrative structure is a crucial step in using personal storytelling to connect with your customers. When you share your own experiences, challenges, and successes in a relatable, engaging manner, you create an emotional connection with your audience, making it easier for them to understand and relate to your brand message. This technique not only humanizes your brand but also creates a sense of trust and loyalty among your customers. To create a compelling narrative, you need to identify the key elements of your story, such as the turning points, conflicts, and resolutions that have shaped your personal and professional journey. In addition, it is essential to organize your story in a way that is easy for your audience to follow and build an emotional connection.
During her conversation with LaQuita Monley, La'Quita Parks, the founder of Pa-Pro-Vi Publishing, shared her own story of overcoming childhood trauma and pain to build a successful publishing company that helps authors share their stories with the world. Parks discussed how her life was changed forever when, as a baby, a nurse in the hospital poured boiling water on her legs, leading to permanent disability and lifelong pain. She took this personal experience and channeled it into a powerful narrative that allowed her to find healing and purpose through helping other authors share their own stories. With Pa-Pro-Vi Publishing, she has been able to assist over 100 authors in transforming their experiences into compelling narratives and bring a sense of achievement and fulfillment to both herself and her clients. Understanding the importance of creating a compelling narrative is essential for any entrepreneur looking to connect with their customers through personal storytelling.
The genuine, human aspect of personal stories allows customers to identify with you on an emotional level, making them more likely to trust and support your brand. It bridges the gap between company and consumer and fosters a sense of loyalty and connection that goes beyond the products and services you offer. Moreover, sharing your unique journey demonstrates your resilience, passion, and purpose to your customers, which inspires them and deepens their relationship with your brand. By harnessing the power of personal storytelling and developing a compelling narrative structure, you can truly make an impact in achieving personal and business growth.

We're going to Colorado! Now what?
Well, the assignment is in: Fort Carson, CO. Our ETD might still be up in the air, but now that we know the location we can start planning our move there, right? Except that I really have no idea how to go about doing that…so I tapped D for some assistance. Thankfully, he seems to have access to all the information needed to eventually get the ball rolling on a housing application, so I’m…

Being a Military Spouse/Family
My husband has recently joined the USA Army. I want to go through a few things about this that may be known or may not be known by my readers. There are a lot of changes that will happen in our life but I won't be known as simply an "army wife" or "army family".
I am not an "army wife". I am still who I am with a husband who happens to work for the USA Army. I am a bookworm, coffee drinker, animal lover, daughter, sister, mother, clean freak, history lover, science lover, philosophy lover, and a woman married to a man in the Army but I am not an "army wife". I joined some military wife Facebook groups for support but women on those tend to define themselves based on their husband's profession and will actually look down on those of a "lower rank" or just someone in a different branch of the military. It just seems odd to me.
Serving in the United States military is a profession, much like being a firefighter, a police officer, a doctor, a teacher, a barista and a salesman are all professions. While the military is not a permanent profession for every soldier, and it is in many cases a far more dangerous profession that requires levels of personal sacrifice and commitment that other professions do not, it is still a career.
My husband’s job does not determine my identity. Our lives look very different from those of our friends whose careers are not military-related but the identities of the spouses of service members are wrapped up in their military spouse and I do find this to be a problem.
My husband is going to be a military engineer. He definitely has the brains for it. He is excited to do something that is actually stimulating and plans on working hard to make this his profession even outside of the military. Doing simple jobs like he was before just wasn't enough for him. People tend choose stable, boring jobs to make sure their lives are stable but it does get boring fast. He hated that. I'm proud of him for doing joining the miltary and finding something he enjoys. I come from a military family (mainly Marines) and this was an amazing opportunity for both of us but we did have to make a few changes and sacrifices for it to work.
First, we had to figure out what was best for our family in terms of the military. We, as a family, had already gotten accustomed to living in one place for years and we wanted to stay in our home that we made our own. So we decided the best course of action was the reserves. Reserve-duty service members have much more say in where they live and what kind of work they do full-time than active-duty service members. The children wouldn't be uprooted constantly and they would be better adjusted. But the caveat was that we knew, and were told again by the recruiter, that the reserves were likely to be called to war more often than you would think. My brother is in the reserves and has already been told he will be deployed within a year. But we figured we would be fine and it was a better option for the children. Although, I would love to travel to different parts of the world.
The next thing we had to do was look at our budget as the time for him to leave was fast approaching. I know he will be making about the same in the military as he did working a civilian job but the main difference was he wouldn't be payed every week as we were used to. So I cut out a few things that, in reality, we didn't need. We didn't have a lot because I'm pretty frugal in the first place. There were only two items to remove. But what I'm most excited about is that I will be able to save a lot more. We will no longer be paying $1000 a month for insurance and from what I've been told by friends and family in the military, we will be better covered.
Lastly, we had to talk to the children, family and friends and we had to figure out parenting and life without him while he was doing training or deployed. Parenting and life in general can already feel chaotic at times. But now, I had to really focus on more than just our regular routine; I had to ensure my children felt confident, comfortable and safe in their environment without their father around. They already had a safe space in their rooms so they can relax when needed and they already had a pretty good routine so that wasn't a huge change. But now I had to parent completely alone without any help for my husband. We weren't going to have any contact with him except once a week and that will be a struggle.
So, we would keep the same routine and live as normally as possible while I played both the roles of mother and father to my children. I had to transition into becoming a single parent. One of the hardest parts would be the loneliness. It has only been four days but already I find myself bored out of my mind without conversation. I feel like I try to distract myself more with books, documentaries, and cleaning more than I had before. I even took some time to put a "proud military family" sticker on the back of the van along with our lgbtqia ally, lotus, and global warming warning stickers.
I also have to make solo decisions without the input of my husband and talking through options. It seems like a scary thought. Yes, I am capable, but when you are used to talking out ideas and different options because you are used to joint decisions, it can be difficult. But mostly, we have been doing well without him here.
The thing that I have to think of, now that we are apart, is the fact that this is a long distance relationship. One of the biggest challenges of being in a long distance relationship is the lack of physical presence. Without the ability to see and touch my husband on a regular basis, it can be easy to feel disconnected and lonely. I am sure he feels the same way. So I've decided that every morning, I will send him short good morning messages from the kids and I so he knows we are thinking about him every day. But it won't be generic; it will be personalized.
It can be hard without him with us daily but I feel that we can make it and by the time he is home, I will have saved a good amount of money for us to get started on new projects like he wanted. Good luck to anyone with a spouse in the miltary and don't give up hope that everything will be okay.
PS. Just a few random tidbits here, but a few of the things we learned about the military is many aren't Christian and the military has removed the terms "sir" and "ma'am" as it was used. Many will put on their paperwork that they are Christian just so they can have a break on Sundays without any work. My husband's recruiter told him that everyone knew, including many priests, and this way many men would go to different churches and nap instead of overworking themselves on the weekend. My husband decided to do this. He felt doing any other religion would be disrespectful even though there are building for other religions such as Buddhism and Judaism. The military removed "sir" and "ma'am" and instead require the personal to address others by their military rank such as private or sargeant. They did this to be more accepting and accommodating to those of the lgbtqia community. Just some interesting facts about the military. Even though they are making progress, they still shouldn't have those of non religious origin do work on Sundays; just give everyone that day off.

Here's to 18 Years of Marriage
On this day, 18 years ago, I joined the Army. Just kidding…I actually got married. But it was to a man in the military, and when we walked out of the church and through the arch of sabers, I got slight sword smack on my backside and a polite “Welcome to the Army Ma’am.” And me, my husband, and the Army have been together ever since. Being a military wife has certainly been challenging. We’ve…

Hurry up and Wait
Since my husband left for BCT it feels like I'm stuck in a sort of limbo, between constantly checking my phone for an update and trying to keep some sense of normalcy in the house nothing I've done has felt like the correct response.
Every time progress has been made during this whole process it was followed by an even longer waiting period. The Army's slogan should be "Hurry up and Wait" because even now that he's sworn in and in training it still feels like we're in that perpetual waiting phase.
What almost makes it worse is no one in my immediate friends/family immediate circle save for a select few understand what I mean when I express my emotions and how isolating it feels. I've struggled with my mental health since I was a teen, and I haven't felt this isolated or unheard since I was in the deep end of my depression as a teen/young adult.
A friend asked if I had told my husband how I was feeling and I told her no and that I honestly didn't plan on it. When asked why I answered honestly that he needs to be focused on himself right now. Do I wish more than anything that I could tell him how I'm feeling? Of course, I do. But it would be so unfair to unload all of these negative feelings on him when he's going through training.
I'll be honest I don't know where exactly I'm going with this, but it at least feels good to get it all off my chest even if I'm just venting into the void.
