Cueva de las Manos, Province of Santa Cruz, Argentina,
It is named for the hundreds of paintings of hands stenciled, in multiple collages, on the rock walls. The art was created in several waves between 7,300 BC and 700 AD, during the Archaic period of pre-Columbian South America.
The age of the paintings was calculated from the remains of bone pipes used for spraying the paint on the wall of the cave to create the artwork, radiocarbon dating of the artwork, and stratigraphic dating.

Connecting to the people of the past, inspired by Cueva de las Manos
Made for a student exhibition “Side by Side” which explores themes of solidarity and coexistence.
[ID:
A digital illustration of long vertical format in reds, oranges, browns and cremes. It portrays a cave wall full of human handprints with colorful auras around them. At the bottom a parent holds up their child who is holding their hand on one of the fingerprints. Human figures are silhouettes with orange outlines.

In tears over la cueva de la manos. They were just like us… they left their whole life, every story they ever told and every person they ever loved… their whole entire being is now communicated to us through that one handprint. They left everything they ever were in a love letter of a handprint on a wall, and now we read it and I can’t help but feel that I’m exactly as they were despite being a completely different species. Being an artist is truly so innate to being human, that even when someone not quite homo sapien makes a painting, we feel the human connection they put into that pigment on the wall. There’s no way around the fact that we have always been artists
Every one of those was made by a person… they all had lives and family’s and now all they are to us is the art they left behind, their one handprint

Cueva de las Manos, Río Pinturas
The Cueva de las Manos, Río Pinturas, contains an exceptional assemblage of cave art, executed between 13,000 and 9,500 years ago. It takes its name (Cave of the Hands) from the stencilled outlines of human hands in the cave, but there are also many depictions of animals, such as guanacos (Lama guanicoe ), still commonly found in the region, as well as hunting scenes. The people responsible for the paintings may have been the ancestors of the historic hunter-gatherer communities of Patagonia found by European settlers in the 19th century.
Perhaps tens of thousands of years old; this should be in a modern art gallery somewhere.
