DO YOU WANT ME TO KILL HIM? [ … ] @fablelike
There was once a danger when accepting a proposition of removing misanthropy from her dutiful routine of daily life. The fact of visibility sticking to her like tar. The sickening feeling of searching for that last step in a dark staircase, but feeling nothing. Even back then in her more youthful years, she had bitten against the meaty arms of time. She walked backwards — she rebelled against the aging process of women who had lived before her. She drank seawater and spat out fire, and begged for something larger to eat at her. This war inside of her had not had a natural progression. She was ripped from a pattern and sent swirling into the atmosphere. The rapture of mistranslation — sprouting from her chest like a crooked fig tree. Yes, this is not a story of a heroine, nor of someone who had swallowed the sun and tamed it to show only golden beams. This is the story of a living sinner. Someone who crawled up from the ground and spoke in short bursts, as though language was fed only by the long pauses between vocalizing it. Death had revived her in a way. Made cold limbs warm again, gave reasoning to insomnia and paranoia. Trauma, of course, followed close behind — it acted as though it were her own child, nurtured in her own womb. She wonders if Alice had any of those small wounds of the past inside her. Any graves she had long since avoided. Bella knew she held a stone-like exterior, but the interior was murky — cloudy in both detail and background. The mystery of the mortal-denier, she the maiden and Alice Cullen the ageless moon. A soft chuckle, head bowing for a moment as she digs through her bag for her truck’s keys. ‘No [ … ] no, I just want to go home.’ Cheeks redden slightly, voice hesitant and quiet — not wanting to dwell too long on the lingering argument Edward and her had earlier. Nothing more to say, and she would rather be surrounded by her books and warm blankets than to sit and pretend longer this evening. She glances up at Alice, left shoulder lifting and dropping in a short shrug. ‘I’ll see you at school, I guess? Are you [ … ] still going tomorrow? I mean you probably won’t miss anything you haven’t already learned, um [ … ] thank you. For dinner.’

canon divergencies for my portrayal of isabella swan:
bella isn’t as desperate to become a vampire as canon portrays her. it’s something she wants eventually, but she finds it difficult to say goodbye to her friends and family. this will remain a difficult issue even when she does decide to transition.
regarding her friends and family: bella cares about them. a lot. she’s a very caring person and i don’t believe she wouldn’t care about her human companions. she considers angela, jessica, mike and eric her friends just as much as she considers alice a friend. she finds saying goodbye to charlie the most difficult part of transitioning though.
aging is a very large fear of bella. this was an issue even before she met edward, but it did become more prominent because of him. this, together with wanting to be with edward forever, is the main reason for her wanting to become a vampire. this means that while she isn’t desperate to turn, she also doesn’t want to wait five years. she gives edward until her twentieth birthday.
bella is perfectly happy to wait with having sex until she has transitioned and doesn’t pressure edward about it in any way, shape or form.
edward and bella still marry relatively young (at nineteen), but this is more so because she wants to make edward happy and knows he values the notion. it’s still a compromise for him having to turn her into a vampire. the deadline just isn’t as tight as it is in canon.
renesmee doesn’t exist. bella comes back from isle esme as a plant mom and nothing more. esme builds her a greenhouse. it’s honestly very cute.
the volturi is eventually the actual reason for bella to transition. it’s only a few months after the wedding. they ran out of patience and forced the cullens to turn her, with the threat of her life hanging in the balance. bella makes peace with it.
her mother is thai and goes by the name of ratree instead of renée.
they stay in forks for a few years even after her transition. there’s no renesmee, but they still invite charlie into their lives. this remains the same in my specific portrayal. she lets the rest of the town gossip. ratree thinks she went to college and bella creates an abundance of excuses for years to come for why they can’t visit. this hurts bella, but she knows ratree wouldn’t understand.

as someone who has moved to a smaller city (30K people in total) for grad school, i would like to say twilight is wrong. the smaller the population the more people know you. i went to a cafe twice and they already know my order. 1000% everyone in forks knows the cullens are vampires and are just too entertained by how bad they are at acting normal to break it to them
