Neither word here is meant negatively; this is mainly asking if people think "fat" and "chubby" connote different things in terms of body size or shape, and/or how a person is treated by others.

This post is about body positivity. It doesn’t matter how big, small, or medium you are, you are perfect and amazing! Me and my partner have been going through stuff with our bodies (I’m underweight) but it doesn’t mean that we can’t find each other beautiful. Please don’t force yourself to eat/starve. Eating disorders are not your friend. There’s many healthier ways to achieve the body that you’d always dreamed of, and they all cost dedication and effort. Never give up, never resort to something harmful. Life is short and expensive, take care of yourself and enjoy your life.

I am a naturally small person. I'm 5 foot 1. The women in my family are all much bigger in height and weight. I've never shamed them for how they look. I don't care because I love them, and I'm not judgemental that way. I judge character and behaviors.
Now, on the other hand, they have commented on my size my entire life and infantilzed me to this day. It still bothers me sometimes because I realize they don't see me as a full person whom they respect. They're projecting their insecurities onto me.
Why is it socially acceptable to ask/tell a small person, "Wow, you're so tiny! Are you anorexic? You need to eat a cheeseburger and put some meat on your bones!" I would never say, "Wow, you're sooo fat! You need to not eat," blah blah blah because that's fucked up. So, why is the former not seen as the same body shaming mentality?

My body type isn't 'curvy' or 'plus-sized', it's 'little kids ask me if I'm pregnant'.

Actually I had another poll idea so never mind THIS is the last one for the day
Sorry for the weird choices, I wanted to be a bit more creative with this one and I’m also pretty tired. Have fun! Also, reblog with the option you choice and why if you want, it’s fun to see people’s reasons and choices (and of course it gives the poll a larger sample size).
Edit: thank you for participating everyone! Even though the polls over, I’m happy that people are still reblogging with their choices/why, it’s really fun to see.

The Guardian publishes a take on Barbie vs. Sindy dolls.
(Non-sexualized, non-graphic discussion of breast size and bra size under the cut. Text only, no images.)
Apparently Barbie was considered “vulgar” because her breasts were larger. Sindy was considered “safe and wholesome” because her breasts were smaller — “demure, subtler, almost self-effacing.”
The writer goes on nostalgically about Sindy. But I screeched to a halt right there. Wait, you’re just going to accept the premise that larger breast size = being more sexual?
(And that being more sexual = bad? I mean, sex is for consenting adults, so yes, sexuality would be bad for a children’s toy. But still, the assumption that sexuality = vulgar is pretty damaging for a kid who is going to hit puberty in a few years.)
But the breast size thing.
Before Reddit went down the tubes, I used to hang out in the subreddit r/ABraThatFits. It helped people find their correct bra size and shape. I highly recommend their bra size calculator (not hosted on Reddit).
It turns out — because most standard bra fitting advice is crap — most people are wearing a band that’s a couple sizes too large, and a cup that’s at least four sizes too small. So someone who is currently wearing a 36B might actually need a 32DD or 32E. Someone currently wearing a 38D might actually need a 34FF.
Over and over again, we’d get people absolutely losing it, or (more often) reporting that their mothers were absolutely losing it, at their new size.
Because if they were actually a DD or FF (or whatever) cup — then that meant they were immodest. Nice girls don’t wear anything larger than a C-cup.
And I just. Breast size is genetic. It means nothing about your “modesty” or how much sex you have or want. Having larger breasts doesn’t mean you necessarily want more sexual attention.
(There was also a good bit of fatphobia mixed in there too. Because bras with cups bigger than [whatever size] were clearly only for fat people, and their moms didn’t want them to be fat.)
Similarly, trans women who wanted HRT but hadn’t yet started it would find out they already measured as a size with a B or C cup letter. And they would often worry that the calculator was just flattering them, telling them a size that sounded more “feminine.” Or they felt like fakers, buying a bra labeled B or C. They didn’t feel like they looked like “enough of a woman” to wear that bra size yet.
And like… breast size also doesn’t equal femininity.
The subreddit was very good at gently calming people down, and gently reminding them that all bra sizes are acceptable and it doesn’t mean anything about who you are as a person. Body size and shape is morally neutral. The goal is just, if you want to wear a bra, to help you wear one that is comfortable.
I don’t want to dismiss or minimize body dysmorphia, because it’s a very real thing. It’s OK to want your body to express your gender! It’s OK if you don’t like your breast/chest size. It’s OK to want breast enlargement, breast reduction, or breast removal! It’s your body, and you are the boss of it.
But also like… can we as a society stop judging other people by their breast/chest size? Can we stop assuming it means anything about their personality, their sexuality, their gender? Can we stop shaming people with large breasts for being “immodest” or “vulgar”?
Argh.

How does one identify birds based on their flight patterns?
Bird identification can be challenging, but one of the best ways to recognize a bird is by observing its flight pattern. A bird’s flight can reveal its size, shape, and behavior, making it a useful tool for birdwatchers. By understanding the basic types of bird flight patterns and their associated characteristics, birders can easily identify many species in the field. In this article, we will…

Options are US cup sizes– we're well aware there are multiple measurement systems around the world, but this is probably the most widely known on tumblr.
Despite how much band size affects relative cup size, this is only asking about cup size.
"Ideal" could mean on yourself, on others, or in theory alone.

Everyone knows it's that time of year when many people feel compelled to set goals to alter their body and restrict their food. The pressure to be thin is everywhere---it's the water we swim in. If you want to take care of your body, I hope this is the year you learn more about weight-neutral approaches to health! The Health At Every Size movement and books by fat activist Aubrey Gordon are great places to start!
