set on an island in the Philippines, with legends of a dreamer god who requires sacrifices, and a history of deaths and disappearances
a local teen who’s one of the only people willing to go near agrees to be the guide for a hollywood crew determined to film their ghosthunting show there - and won’t leave even when bodies start showing up
If your guilty pleasure is watching ghost hunting tv shows, you'll love this book. The story of a paranormal team investigating a long abandoned house that is the center of a decades old mystery will intrigue and delight. If you're an audiobook lover, then you're in for a treat. This audiobook is fully immersive. From background music to a full cast. You won't regret giving it a listen. 4.5/5 stars, would definitely read again.
This is art I created as a cover for the future audiobook of my fiction work titled "Marrow." It's a dark Wonderland fiction that takes place in an asylum.
Gotta say, listening to the Southern Reach trilogy on audiobook while I'm this sick has been one of my more genius ideas. and also a terrible, delirious, confusing, ouroboros of an experience that may yet devour me. I have no idea what's happening and it's grand.
I'm asking around on social media for indie authors who have purposely uploaded their audiobooks on non-Paywalled sites (ie: youtube), to hit me up with their links. I KNOW these exist-- there are definitely authors out there other than me who are reading their own books and uploading them to youtube for folks to listen to! But I don't know how to find them! And probably so do most other people! So I'm making a list to share with the public! it'll be a cute little webpage.
Yes yes I know about Libby (the library), please also support your public library, but there's plenty of ethically-sourced free indie audiobooks that MY library system doesn't have!!!!
I don't care what genre it is, or what length it is! I don't care if it's only the first book in the series and the rest are paywalled (totally understand, audiobooks are expensive/time consuming). I don't care if it's in playlist form or if the entire god damn thing is one 27 hour video that your hubris convinced you to upload exactly as-is! I'm not discriminating on "quality" either because that's silly. Hell, it doesn't even have to be in English as long as you can communicate to me core information and a YouTube link (or other places). It can be poetry for all I care! The ONLY thing I will discriminate on is whether it's behind a paywall and whether there is AI-involved in the project-- ESPECIALLY the narrator! It MUST be read by a real human being! This is an honor system, and violators will be deleted and potentially blacklisted.
(I specify indie mostly because I suspect it's mostly indie authors who would do this-- but I suppose you don't have to be indie!)
(I'm striving to find ethically sourced ((author-endorsed/released)) free audiobooks, nothing pirated, and I'm not talking about Public Domain works-- I KNOW these exist!!!! I've seen them now and again!!! And I was a fool for not compiling a list of them!)
Please share so I can help the indie audiobook world in one small way. I fucking hate Amazon with every fiber of my being and I want to support authors who have chosen to make a very hard decision.
not pictured: breathless by kitty tsui, s/he by minnie bruce pratt, stone butch blues by leslie feinberg, miss major speaks, the persistent desire. most of these i've picked up on and off since june, since most of them are anthologies & i was rereading SBB.
stand out books for me this year were fluids, to be devoured, and minor detail.
fluids & to be devoured hugely inspired me, they kicked off me getting back into reading in general and inspired a lot of my personal writing this year.
otherwise im kinda disappointed in most of the books here... this was my first year really reading this much in a long, long time, and most of what i read were novellas. and i stepped into a new genre, so i was really feeling things out and trying to find my niche. i'm hoping i'll be able to branch out some more with all of the new authors i've been eyeing and i'll find something that will really stick with me.
Are you looking for creative inspiration? A way to turn an empty page into a story for the ages? Then you’ll need to connect with your own “Muse”, but that creature of beauty and horror will need much more from you. Are you prepared to give it?
“The Muse” is a brand new #AudioBook for 2023 written by the brilliant Christopher Lee Scoville and voiced acted by the amazingly talented Justine Leah Hince.
This is the first of our new ‘Cornucopia Radio’ collection of #Halloween #Horror themed #FlashFiction pieces to be released this month. Tales to unnerve, get under your skin and leave a mark! We’ve got more to come over the next few weeks, so keep an eye on this page.
You can download this video, the mp3 version or subscribe to the podcast to get these pieces automatically via our website: http://www.cornucopia-radio.co.uk/short-video-fiction
Also let us know what you thought of this production and the story. I know how hard Christopher and Justine worked to bring it to you, and they would love to read your comments.
so unfair that I have to Do Things when I could be thinking about Aziraphale and Crowley kissing but my hold on the Good Omens audiobook came in so at least I’ll be listening to that
Holy fuck, Nicki's rant at the theatre is so hard to hear and it's going to be a pain to watch if they get a third season because it's like five minutes of unrepentant. Can't wait to see how Sam Reid acts that out since Lestat is basically stunned into silent out of all the verbal lashing and hate his lover says.
