Oh I guess we do actually have to see the fight happen too. I feel like I’m watching a recital and just clapping politely.

You go, Lava Lamp! Well done sweetie! You sure do the thing!

The art is gorgeous, though. Oh my goodness. Those angles.

Seishirou scores a point with his flexi-extendable sword whip, and I think Amaterasu is mostly just surprised that Kurogane hasn’t jumped into the fight already. Which, coupled with her teasing a little earlier, really shows just how long she knew Kurogane before all his character growth. Pre-Tsubasa Kurogane really would have been already in the fight for the fun of it. But Post-Journey Kurogane respects Lava Lamp’s need to have this fight on his own terms, especially after Lava Lamp already lived through the previous fight with Seishirou and died. If anyone gets to judge Seishirou for all his actions towards Syaoran, it’s Lava Lamp.

THOUGH technically Kurogane does have a personal stake in this battle too, since Outo messed him up royally when he thought both Fai and Syaoran had both been murdered by Seishirou. Kurogane’s fight against him was interrupted before there was a clear winner, so it’d be pretty natural for him to want to finish things off - either out of revenge for Seishirou’s previous actions, or out seeing which of them would have actually won that time, or even just general dislike. The fact that he DOESN’T want to fight him and is content in his choice to let Lava Lamp fight for himself instead really does just show layers upon layers of growth this man has gone over the years.

Lava Lamp is going full Justice Arcana in this fight and Kurogane fully supports his feelings. Which will be a surprise to Amaterasu, but a good one nonetheless.

I like to think that Vulcans who come to understand that Humans just can’t try to process emotions the same way as them, it’s just healthiest to let it out in harmless ways, decide that venting and stuff should be taken just as seriously as Vulcan’s meditation time, and will encourage the Humans around them to complain about what’s upsetting them

I will absolutely never be normal about the fact that Jensen had to literally fight for Dean to die standing. Like, he had to FIGHT for it. The man wasn't allowed to have any say in the ending of the character he played for 15 years!!! He had to accept Dean dying. He had to accept the rusty rebar. "Take it or leave it" they told him. And he literally had to fight for Dean to at least die standing, head up high.

It's so sickening.

it means SO MUCH to me that nadja actually called out to guillermo for help when she was struggling against that doctor. like. it's one (already huge!) thing for her to be protective of him and wanting to get him away from that place and back home. but it still sort of lies within the usual vampire/familiar dynamic where the the familiar "belongs" to the vampire and so is theirs for them to do as they please, ykwim? nadja wanting to take guillermo home can be read as a more extreme form of that possessiveness (we know it isn't, but it could be). she even tried to pass it as exactly that when she said guillermo was nandor's (/theirs) to kill. but when she called for him for help? that was something else, entirely and undeniably. it proves that she sees him as someone she can rely on for help and protection when needed, someone on her same level. it takes trust and vulnerability for a vampire to rely on someone like that, especially on a human. and she did it. and guillermo, despite being incapacitated (between the bindings and the drugs in his system), came through for her and protected her like she protected him!! found family at its finest, i'm so happy!!

Anyway regardless of how you feel about the Royals, even if you’re like me and think they’re all parasites, here are some things to remember:

The UK taxpayer is funding Kate’s high-end treatments whilst millions of citizens are on years-long NHS waiting lists for their own treatments and waiting hours upon hours to be seen in A&E when they’ve had a severe incident; so much money that could be going towards funding the NHS properly is instead going to the Royals. Kate is very likely going to be perfectly fine. Millions of regular tax-paying UK citizens will not.

HOWEVER. Kate isn’t going to see your memes making fun of her on tumblr dot com — but other people whom have suffered because of cancer will. If common decency won’t stop you from posting crab rave GIFs celebrating the illness of a mother to three young children, hopefully the chance of someone else with cancer or with a friend or relative with cancer seeing it will.

Seriously does no one else think Kensington’s PR nightmare is kind of fucked up like the fact they were so Weird about all this and let a sick woman in their “family” take all the blame for their shitty Photoshop skills. It's honestly wild to me that ToA went through so much trouble to emphasize the fact that Will did not magically fix all of Nico's problems and was explicitly not Nico's only doctor.

Only for TSATS to have Will fix all of Nico's problems and have Nico be entirely reliant on him the entire book and literally helpless without him and LITERALLY have Nico's problems be magically removed.

Sometimes I think about what season 4 would’ve been like if instead of introducing Jason and Chrissy, they used two already established characters for those roles. Like Tommy and Carol, for example.

You don’t even have to change much with Eddie or the basketball team, just have Carol be the one buying drugs and have Tommy be the assistant coach on the basketball team or something.

It’d add a layer to Lucas’ story because then he’s not just struggling with peer pressure but also with an authority figure that we’ve already seen be aggressive. I think it adds more weight to Steve helping to clear Eddie’s name because Carol was his friend.

I also think there’s something very interesting about a town mob hunting down and demonizing Eddie, a character whose biggest sin was being different, in the honor of a canonical bully.

In light of the info about the properties of souls in The Unwanted Guest, I want to shout out that Gideon — with no grounding in the theoretical underpinnings of the subject whatsoever — actually makes basically the same observation about the permeability of the soul at the end of Harrow the Ninth, when she's in Harrow's body and (with some justification) is pretty sure she's about to die in the River:

Harrowhark, did you know that if you die by drowning, apparently your whole life flashes in front of your eyes? I didn't know, as I died and took you along with me—having kept you alive for what, a whole two hours?—whether it was going to show me both. Like, at the end of everything, if it was going to be you and me, layered over each other as we always were. A final blurring of the edges between us, like water spilt over ink outlines. Melted steel. Mingled blood. Harrowhark-and-Gideon, Gideon-and-Harrowhark at last.

‘As we always were’! ‘Melted steel, mingled blood’! (Also interesting that despite saying earlier in the book that all she ever wanted was for Harrow to eat her (oh Gideon), the metaphors Gideon reaches for here are not about consumption ala what Ianthe’s deal and thus traditional lyctorhood is presented as in TUG, it’s about similar and equal substances joining together to a new whole, more like what we see with Paul. I personally feel like a Paul-style merging for Harrow and Gideon is not in the cards and would not be a satisfying ending — it worked as a bittersweet conclusion specifically for Pal and Cam because those two are utterly nuts in all their sanity lol, but I don’t think the series means to present it as The definitive answer to the central question of individuation vs. connection. There is something so moving to me, though, in the fact that right at the end this is what Gideon wants for her and Harrow. Not for Harrow to eat her, not simply to be of use to her, but to be made together from the same stuff. It’s a longing for connection and union that’s finally at least in imagery free from the imbalance within the ultimately hierarchical roles of necromancer and cavalier that Gideon internalizes through her corruption arc in Gideon the Ninth, understandably so as it’s the only model she’s presented with in their society to understand intimacy and attachment and devotion through. But Gideon says Harrowhark-and-Gideon, Gideon-and-Harrowhark at last, mutually and equally. And I’ve written about this before, but at what must be almost exactly the same time, the same process is happening in Harrow’s mind through the evolution in the symbolism of her dream bubbles. Help I am emotions now)

Palamedes is so right, Gideon is a lot smarter than most people -- including Gideon herself -- ever give her credit for.

the thing is, the "I would eat my arms and legs for zoro" scene wasn't just for shits and giggles. yes, it was to show just how devoted luffy is to his friends, but it also shows how he's naturally an great captain that he immediately understands zeff and says without hesitation "oh yeah I would do that and beyond for my crew"
