Dating Ekko but Vi has a crush on you...
Tumblr media
so let's start from the beginning (from the start it's kinda boring ngl)
you, ekko, powder and vi (also with mylo and claggor before their death) were childhood friends
but after vander's, mylo's and claggor's death, after silco took jinx under his wing and after vi was put in jail, everything change
you didn't saw ekko or anyone else for a long time, so you were alone
but one night after many years, firelights found you and kinda kidnap you if i can call it like that
you had a bag over your head so you couldn't see anything, but you heard someone walking around you
that someone took the bag off your head, she squinted at the light and then you saw a person with and owl looking mask?
you frowned and you switched to defense mode, asking questions like who is he, what he want, etc..
the person didn't say anything and took off his mask slowly
you gasped when you saw ekko, but now he wasn't as cute as he was when he was a lil kid, he was hot
he released you out of handcuffs and you immediately hugged him, he hugged you back
well after that you talked for hours, telling each other what happened etc
ekko showed you what he built over those years and you loved it
and you loved it to the point that you become a firelight and you were ekko's right hand (but don't tell scar;))
and after few months you two started dating
so ekko now captured vi and had a 'little' talk with her and when they went to release caitlyn from her handcuffs, you were there
you were standing in front of caitlyn giving her some food so she can get a bit energy
vi didn't recognize you at start but when you turn to face her she was amazed, you change a lot
you walked towards her or that what she thought
you walked towards ekko, who was sitting next to her, you bend down to give him a kiss on his forehead
when you bend to kiss him, vi and caitlyn could perfectly see your ass, which made caitlyn blush and vi smirk
vi liked you for a long time but she didn't really thought about love when she was a kid
but when she realized you're dating ekko, ohoho she didn't like it a bit
she was jealous, like a lot but she could hide it well (that what she thought)
she thought that she was better partner for you, she was older and stronger, etc
she tried to restore her relationship with you, because she didn't see you for years, so ekko didn't mind at first
but ekko isn't stupid and he notice that vi is more touchy with you and she is always checking you out
so he became jealous as well
so whenever vi was nearby, he put his arms around your waist or kiss you
vi just rolled her eyes but inside she was furious
vi flirted with you, a lot
sometimes her and ekko get into a fights because of you, but nothing serious just vi picking up on ekko telling him tha you deserve someone mature or a real (wo)man
vi makes fake scenarios in her head when she sees you and ekko kissing, hugging or just holding hands, imagining that she was at ekko's place
ekko would sometimes complain when you two cuddle or are alone that vi is looking at you too much and that you gave her too much attention, i have to admit that he is also kinda insecure that you will leave him, but he just loves you with his whole heart
she would also stare at you, just admiring your beaty and ekko didn't like it, like he agree with her that you are beautiful, but you were his and his only
when he gets more jealous or just overwhelmed with things, he would fuck you all night, make you moan his name for vi to hear and he would mark your neck with hickeys for vi to see them the next day (yk let her know who you belong to)
it kinda affect their friendship because vi is stubborn and she can't give up or take a hint
and ekko definitely wouldn't give you to her, you are everything to him
I hope you like it guys, I thought this would be cool idea and in my head it seemed like it but rn idk how to feel about it:)

thinkin about teaming up with caitlyn to give vi the most intense orgasms of her life. (fem/afab reader, firm believer vi loves topping/switching but i wanna give her some loving)
lets assume she didnt get much sexual experience in prison, just reduced to a few conversations about the basics with an older prison mate and furiously rubbing at herself to get the edge off. so when she gets into a relationship with you two she is the epitome of the word eager.
best exame would be when caitlyn bought vi her own strap (after showing her some of the ones shed used in the past and wanted to replace now that she was committed to the two of you.)
it's safe to say vi was obsessed with it. it was girthy, hot pink, and could pack a punch just like the woman it was attached to. it made her incredibly cocky (i had to), and you could see it in her face and that stupid smirk of hers after fucking you and cait dumb :|
she also wears it all the time, seriously its rare to see her out and about during the day and shes not packing. but yeah. during most of her sexual endeavors, vi is giving pleasure. she assures you that it gives her pleasure as well, clear by the lomg moans she'll let out while fucking you and the abundance of cum it leaves on the harness. but it still makes you and caitlyn curious.
it's a day where vi comes home looking exhausted, letting out a long groan as soon as she enters the threshold of your apartment. you come to greet her with a smile and a hug, your body warm at her tight embrace. you pull away to do The Thing, consisting of batting your eyelashes, running a hand down her neck and asking her with the sweetest voice you can muster to follow you to you three's shared bedroom. The Thing is the golden ticket to get vi to fuck you in any position you want. youd think shed become immune to it after using it nearly every day but nope.
while following you to your bed shes already tugging her pants down and tugging off her jacket, damning herself for not wearing her strap that day. she doesn't get long to dwell on it before slender hands are gripping her shoulders and pushing her to sit on the bed, a flurry of hands rushing to get the rest of her clothes off and mouths sucking marks onto her neck and shoulders.
she's stuttering for the first time since she was a kid, trying to ask what was going on when cait whispers in her ear that you both wanted to give her a special treat for being so good to you, both in and out of bed. its what she deserved, really.
and before she knows it she's moaning like a brothel girl with her legs spread and hovering her body over yours, your arms bringing her down into an arch so she can more easily take caitlyn's strap. her head is hot and her throat is sore from her sounds, almost embarrassed by them and the sounds coming from her cunt.
her groans are cut off by your mouth connecting with hers, the feeling of your tounge in her mouth making her feel dizzy. she's desperate at this point, moving her hips back and forth on the toy as caitlyn squishes the fat of her ass.
its in the middle of cait calling her a good puppy and you biting her on the neck when she's coming and creaming on the strap.
and then she's lying on her back, catching her breath and drifting off to sleep when she's made lucid again by you pinching her nipple with a giggle and a "you didnt think we were done, right?"

Yandere!Vi and Yandere!Caitlyn Kiramman SMUT
Tumblr media
"I dont fucking care! If it's not done by Friday, you're off the team! Got it!?"
You nodded your head, got you hate this man. He's the embodiment of everything you hate. He stands there and glares at you before turning away in anger, you hear him mumble about 'idiot' while he walks away.
Slowly you turn around, turning your head up to stop the warm water dripping down your face. You walk out, it was the end of the day and Friday is only 2 days from now. You can work on the project at home, you hope your lovers would let you pay attention. They like to distract you from work.
Once your home you realise you see two coats, two pairs of shoes, and most importantly two women in the kitchen. Upon hearing the door close both women look up, a set of grey and a set of blue eyes look at you. The hold nothing but adoration, love, happiness, and kindness. Both of your girlfriends love you so much.
So it brought them both pain when you break down crying. Tears spill down you face, warm tears, refusing to stop. Vi is the first to run to you, she picks you up and holds you. She brings you into the kitchen, her face went from one of love to one of pure disgust.
Vi always has some sort of snark, smile, or relatively happy look on her face. Of course that's only for you and Caitlyn. Now, oh right now, she's absolutely pissed, and not afraid to show it.
"Honey? What's wrong, are you okay?"
You didn't say a word, it took you a good second to finally regain the ability to properly think. You push yourself off of Vi, Vi herself had switched back to a smile. She doesn't want to frighten you, poor you.
The three of you sit down and start talking. You explain what's been going on, specifically with your boss. You know that Caitlyn has more than enough money to support you and Vi, and she's never abuse that. You just wanted to be able to do things, and having a job was the best way. Your job wasn't always this demanding, it's your boss that's the problem.
While you were talking you didn't notice the slow changes in both Vi and Caitlyn's faces. They couldn't look at you properly, not right now at least. Both girls had one goal currently, and that was to kill you boss. How dare he yell at you!? Does he not know who you are, who your lovers are? They could ruin him with a snap of their fingers.
"G-girls. I'm going to go call someone real quick."
Vi didn't say anything else and stood up. She walked into the bedroom and called Jinx. The two have been having a good relationship so far. Their bond growing stronger, and therapy is helping too. While you sat on the couch and let Caitlyn coddle you, Vi was calling her sister for a favor.
"Hey, hey yeah. Yeah I need a favor, someone hasn't been all to kind to [name] I was wondering if you could deal with him. No- no I don't care what happens to him. Kill him if you want, just make him understand not to hurt her. Yeah, yeah I'll give you his info in a second."
Caitlyn had so many ideas stewing in her mind, how dare he. How dare your moronic, disgusting, disrespectful boss, EVER yell at you. Men like him need to be put down, maybe cut their balls off, like you would a dog or a cat. Teach him a lesson, he obviously doesn't see a goddess when it's in front of him.
Vi walks in with a smile, she had a good- great idea. You poor thing, you've been hurt so badly by your boss. You need all the love and care both of your very willing girlfriends can provide.
Vi sneaks over to Caitlyn with a smirk, whispering her plan into her ear. An equally devious smirk appears on Caitlyns face. Oh this, this is going to be fun, very fun. Caitlyn smiles sweetly at you, she gives you the smile that tells you many things. That she loves you, that she adores you, that she'd kill for you, that she want to fuck you so hard it hurts.
You assumed the latter was her choice.
"Sweetie, why don't you go undress in the bedroom, hm? Vi and I will be there soon, we're just going to grab a few toys."
Caitlyn stands up and give you a small peck on the lips before leaving with Vi. To large smirks on their face as they walk away. Their entire plan is to fuck you so raw you can't go to work, then when you do, your boss(if he's even alive) will have a whole new personality.
You walk to the bedroom, your face burning. Other parts of your body started to burn too, burn with need, with want. You didn't realise how pent up you were until now, god this was frustrating for you. You know your lovers, they love to tease.
After about ten minutes Caitlyn and Vi walk in. Vi has her boxers on, she also has a belt with a harness attached to it. The entire thing makes it look like thin, black(stylish) suspenders. Caitlyn though, oh she's wearing baby blue lingere. It looks so soft and pretty, you want to tear it off her, so very badly.
"You look so cute princess! I'm glad you were smart enough to only wear a bra and panties, if you wore anything else, well I would more than likely tear it!"
Vi always sounds so enthusiastic right before sex, you know it's her way of showing her interest. It's just scary sometimes, I mean the look on her face and the way she's talking are two very, very different things. She sounds happy, sweet, and kind, she looks like she wants to fuck you in front of hundreds of people and let them call you dirty things for her amusement.
"Mhm. Indeed, our beautiful little wife has learned, finally. I'm glad I dont need to worry about Vi destroying all your clothes anymore. Now, how about you lay back for us."
It wasn't a request, no instead it was a command. Caitlyn runs a tight ship, and you've learned bratting off only fucks you over further into the future. Not that it matters, you find it fun. You tilt your head and ask her to make you. A smile- dark, a dark smile finds it's way to her face. Caitlyn walks to you, she gently grabs a handful of your hair and pulls. A warning, she's warning you.
You know, you know all about her warnings. First a hair pull, then she'll bite your neck softly, lastly she grab you by the throat. Not roughly, but not soft either. You look up at her with faux innocence, you tilt you head in an attempt to feign innocence. You hear a deep growl from behind you, Vi. She's getting impatient.
Vi is the easier one to please out of the two, she just wants to make you scream. That's isn't hard to do, you just have to hit the right spots.
"I advise you to listen to Caitlyn, just because this night is about you doesn't mean we wont remind you how to listen. Dont test."
You decide it's best to save the brat for another day, you know their doing this to make you feel good. You told them everything, you're not surprised they had this cooked up. You nod slowly, you watch Caitlyn pull back, only for her to push you onto the bed. You lay back, spreading your legs and moving your arms above your head.
You know how they like it. You watch Caitlyn move and sit in a chair, it has gold trimmings and is a satin red. Vi smirks, this is how it goes. From now on, the words 'Vi' and 'Caitlyn' don't exist. It's daddy, and mistress. Honorifics, the things you call them by as a reminder of how they own you.
You watch Vi pull something from a box she had with her. A bright red, 8 inch long strap on. She looks between you and the strap, she sees the reaction on your face. Nothing but pure horny bliss, that's what she likes to see. If she saw that you were scared, she would have used a smaller one. One that would better fit you and your interests.
Vi attaches the strap to her, that's what the harness is for after all. She takes a few steps to you, she puts gets on the bed, her hips cornering you. You lay spread out, and she lays on top of you, look down. She takes your hands and cuffs them together, she. The harness has a belt attached to it, the cuffs were attached to the belt. Vi grins, she loves seeing you helpless, seeing that you need her.
You look over to Caitlyn, she's staring you both intently. She wants to see who will react first, if you say something, or will you meekly open your legs and let Vi have her fun. Caitlyn shakes with anticipation, making herself wetter than before. At some point Vi cant take it anymore, she grabs one of your legs and puts it over her shoulder. She dips the straps tip into you, nothing more, just the tip. She wants to see you shake, shake in pleasure, in pain, she wants to see all of it.
You jump and shake at the sudden intrusion, you body feels amazing and Vi just looks at you. She watches you twitch and shake as she slowly slips in and out ofr your pussy. She wants to see every reaction, every movement. Vi can't get enough of seeing you like this, she needs it, she becomes feral thinking about all the things she's going to do to you. Her pace quickened, hips starting to jam closer and closer to your. She needs this, badly.
Caitlyn watches you two with intense excitement. She loves seeing you like this, and it wasn't like she isn't getting any please out of this two. She had put a bullet vibrator in Vi, and she had a vibrator on herself too. She has the controls to Vis and hers, she turns Vis up by 1 and watches her shake. Caitlyn can see just how much shes getting off on this, and it makes her shiver thinking about it.
"Vi honey, if you want to cum at any point tonight, you're going to have to make our darling scream. I want to hear it loud and clear. Got that?"
"Mm, y-yes ma'am. Make her scream so I can c-cum."
Vi is absolutely losing it right not, her hips keep slamming into yours. No matter how many times you shake and spasm, your entire body is under her control. Vi on the other hand is under Caitlyns control, she knows Vi is chasing her oragsm, and hell get it. As long as Caitlyn gets to hear you scream. Vis thrusts get more and more manic, she's shaking, helping you into your orgasm, while chasing her own. God she needs it, so badly.
Your breath starts to shake more, you and Vi had changed positions a while ago, you are on your back and Vi has you holding onto her for dear life. You start scratching down Vis back, be it the pain of pleasure, you can take if anymore. You start crying and mumbling incoherently, you don't know what you're saying, and neither do Vi or Caitlyn. All that matter is you being absolutely destroyed, and you look oh so close.
"Vi, baby, I want you both to cum with me. Hold on just a bit longer babe, and Vi, I'll turn the vibe up."
You didn't know if you could hold on, it just felt so, so good. How the hell are you going to hold back like this!? At this rate you'll start breaking rules, one of those being don't cum unless given permission. You start hitting Vis back, hoping she slows down. You need her to or you wont last any longer, although you know Vi isn't going to listen. Even if you could talk properly, which you cannot.
"Fuck- cum! Both you of y-you, fuck!"
Permission, that's what you needed, and finally you were given it. Your body convulses against Vis, who does the exact same. You to shake and rock against eachother. Slowly you both come down from your highs. Caitlyn turns the bullet Vibrator off and turns hers off too. Vi slowly pulls out of you, she sees your freshly fucked face and almost laughs. You look so cute, all dumb like this.
"You both did so well for me, but now. Vi honey, please move. It's my turn to torture [name] body, and I intend to work thoroughly.
You look at her in your blissed out state, you should have known. Both if them want your body, they just like to take it in different ways.

Vi. She’d grab your hand and make you feel it, placing her warm palm over yours. Her thrusts would deepen, making sure you felt every bit of her. Pressing down on your hand as she bit her lower lip. Gods, she loved you like this. Feeling every bit of her, taking her so eagerly, her name spilling from your lips helplessly as she continued to fuck you into the mattress. She could feel it now in her own hand and it spurred her on. At this point, she’d fucked every coherent thought out of your mind. Leaving only fuzz and HER. Her voice, her cock, her skin and her touch. Knowing that she was the only one fucking you so deep and so good, it made her smug. You were all hers, and everyone was going to know about it. Whether from moaning her name, the possessive marks all over your skin or just simply how you walked the next day. They’d know.
“Feel that, baby? That’s all me. I know I know it feels so good. Shit that’s it, teach them my name. You're all mine, right? Please, please say-fuck! That's right bunny"
Caitlyn. She has your wrists bound with her handcuffs and your ankles tied to each bed post, leaving you completely at her mercy. Helpless and needy. Just the way she loved. She’d be mesmerised at the sight of her cock filling you so deeply, keeping her thrusts slow to watch. She couldn’t stop a proud smirk forming as your pathetic moans filled her ears. She beckoned you to watch too, with a warning of not getting to cum if you looked away. She knew how desperate you were by now, after toying with you ever since she got home. Never pushing you over the edge. So now with your top half propped up with cushions and an even deeper blush at the embarrassing scene (which Caitlyn relished in), you did what you were told. She cooed at you, quickening her thrusts. Then degraded you, then praised you. The constant switch up kept you reeling and your mind a puddle for her. Caitlyn couldn’t help it, you just looked so pretty. Would be a crime not to ravish you.
“You’re such a good girl for Mommy, aren’t you? Taking my cock like the little whore you are, hmmm? Don't look away. Don't you want to see how good I'm fucking you? There's my good doll"

Is Screen Time An Issue For A Character?
That’s a tough one.
I see quite a few arguments about some shows I’ve watched that ‘oh, this character is bad because they have too much screen time’. Or ‘I wish this character had more screen time to be interesting.’
Basically, too much screen time is now a valid critique to describe why a character is bad or doesn’t work for you. And to that I say…
Uh… no?
I’ll give some examples where I see this critique, but for now I want to state a case of examples where I expected to see this critique online, but didn’t, and I wondered why.
SPOILERS BELOW FOR THE SPIDERVERSE SEQUEL:
The main character of the Spiderverse movies is Miles Morales. Clear as day if you see ANY promotional concept art. The movies nail that home and give you a solid POV character among the Multiverse chaos.
The sequel begins with an over twenty minute backstory sequence involving Gwen Stacy, a side character in the first movie.
(Fun fact: When me and my dad went to see it in theaters together, he said that backstory was over twenty minutes long and that he thought they could've trimmed it down. Animated-phobia gives you weird opinions. He didn't watch Arcane with me and thought nothing of it because 'it was an animated show'. Not kidding.) (Both of my parents are like this, sadly.)
Now, in the context of the movie, it makes sense to include this to understand the full POV of her character going forward. As she is pretty vital to the story.
I tried imagining a version of the movie where we DIDN'T get this intro, went straight to Miles, and we just had to put the pieces together involving Gwen and her actions. And I don't think the movie would've worked nearly as well.
This brings me to another point involving Gwen Stacy in this movie: She's kind of become a protagonist as well, next to Miles.
Is this screen time theft? Under the screen time critique, it probably would seem that way.
And yet nobody I've seen complains. If anything, this solidified her as one of the best movie adaptations of Gwen Stacy out there. In my opinion.
Unlike the first movie, this one is not driven by the narrative of the main character, but rather multiple.
This is not uncommon. And it's an even bigger case with Arcane.
Yeah, this show is phenomenal everyone who says so is right Jinx is an icon Vi is my cartoon crush next to Petra I was crying so hard at the ending and for that alone this show deserves every ounce of praise it gets and I'm kind of an Arcane stan-
*Inhales*
I think I just have a thing for dystopian stories where characters walk through hell.
(Yes I consider TD a dystopian setting, that'd be a nice hot take to tackle one day.)
The Hunger Games is my favorite dystopian setting that I've seen, just because it's very memorable and inspiring. But Arcane is objectively the best dystopian story out there. If I fade out of my Total Drama obsession, this show might be my next target.
Cupcakes. El fin.
I could stop there, but lets talk about why we're here.
Arcane does not focus on the two main characters only as the driving force of its narrative.
Advertisement tell you that our main characters are the two growing war machines who go around calling each other sisters, Vi and Powder (Jinx. Idk how mad people get for which name I use for her. Sorry if I offend you). In fact, there's evidence to back that up. Other than they're the people with dyed hair, that's instant main character. They're the first characters we meet in the entire show. They're the characters with the final scene that closes off the season. EVERY ending to an act is with them. They're the main characters. Boom.
But wait. Nearly TWO THIRDS of this show doesn't even focus on them!
We have all the Piltover characters we keep switching back to. Jayce, Viktor, Mel, Caitlyn for Act 2 pretty much, Silco kind of becomes his own protagonist in Act 3. Really, the only people who remain consistent side characters are Ekko, and the two boys that get blown to pieces by Powder. And... some other people I'm forgetting the names of. (Sorry, I only had two watch throughs of this show so far and I know nothing about League other than the sisters become enemies.)
Now, why?
Why is this the case? I'm not saying characters other than our mains don't get fleshed out at all, but to the point where they're basically major enough to carry their own show? That SOUNDS like a detriment to the story if anything, especially how unfocused it kind of all gets until the end where everyone's in the same room.
Had Vi or Jinx interact with these characters, their fleshing out makes sense, and you definitely see that with characters like Caitlyn and Silco, who kind of need them to function.
But the Piltover gang? Jinx doesn't meet them at all, neither of the sisters meet Viktor, and Vi does meet Jayce, but in Episode 8 of 9.
Why does nobody complain about this? If anything, these guys are stealing screen time.
Well, it turns out, this is all done in Arcane's benefit, rather than fault. We are all the protagonist of our own story, and there are multiple POVs regarding the world.
It's basically if Hunger Games was third person instead of first, and we actually got a chance to flesh out the other rebels/children.
Me personally, and I know I'm not the only one out there, but the sisters were the most interesting thing about the show, and other characters that talk to them were how they caught my attention. That in no way means I don't care for anyone though, and it's COMPLETELY a PERSONAL thing.
So whenever we DO focus on the sisters and their story, not only do we get these other POVS on the scene that could clash with our view of them, but it makes it so that EVERY. SCENE. MATTERS.
No scene is wasted in fleshing out the sister's story. Everything has a purpose and drives it all to one heartbreaking simulation. There's no wasted space, there's no lack of attention to a certain detail, darn it, it's just right.
(I mean, I guess I would've liked to see what they went through in that time skip, like how Jinx was raised by Silco and processed her new identity, or better yet how tf Vi survived prison when it's heavily implied she beat people to a pulp and got solitary multiple times. But I think Season 2 is gonna cover it.)
Seriously, imagine a version of this show real quick.
Imagine a version of the show that took the Hunger Games approach, and used first person POV on one of the two sisters, doesn't matter which one, they'd both work. Cut out scenes not involving that sister. The other characters that appear revolve around scenes they're in with that sister.
Would that work nearly as well?
I don't think so.
Now First Person POV isn't necessarily a bad thing. Danganronpa is first person. Minecraft Story Mode is first person. Those are probably not great examples, but it can work. (TDDRI, a fic of mine, is first person, and I had to work around that to flesh out everyone else. It can work.)
This show is very hot topic and weirdly paced than what I'm used to. So take everything with a grain of salt as I am nowhere near an expert with this show. The show's story doesn't even get started until Episode 4, as the first three episodes are all flashback to explain where our characters are and why they're motivated to do what they do.
Again, I tried imagining a version of this show where we DIDN'T get those first three episodes, we started with Episode 4, and we just had to ASSUME all the backstory involving the sisters and the titular arcane and put the pieces together through Vi's words and Jinx's hallucinations. I don't think we would have been nearly as invested.
So with these two examples, WHY does nobody complain about screen time involving a character?
Is it because they're just really good pieces of media? Or is there a reason for this?
After all, Spiderverse and Arcane fall under the category of an 'ensemble cast'. A cast of characters in a story where there is no titular main character to drive the narrative, and everyone does instead. It's like if Harry Potter was 'Hogwarts' instead, or some title like that.
But lets take a look at some examples of ensemble casts where there's been a complaint of some sort with screen time:
Total Drama and RWBY.
Now I only like one of these two shows, so I'm gonna put that aside for now.
Total Drama. It has an ensemble cast. The show is about teenagers suffering-I mean competing for a prize, eliminating each other bit by bit as it goes along. Naturally with that setup, early boots are left to dry. But that doesn't stop people from complaining.
Ezekiel gets the most flack for too little screen time, and major fanboys say he should've had more focus. Personally I don't get that based on what role he's deigned to play. Caleb is a more recent example. I thought he was gonna have a bigger role and character than he ended up having, and him being a first boot gag makes even less sense than Zeke. Dawn is a fan favorite who isn't even in that many episodes. Axel is a ripoff of Shawn because of her lack of screen time. Scary Girl is... Scary Girl, who I don't see the fuss about her little screen time as she's comic relief, but the complaint is there. There is SO MUCH bashing about Noah's lack of screen time it is not even funny. So much so that he's sharing screen time with another person.
And who is to blame for this: Well, the characters who make it really far into the game, or course! How dare they steal screen time away from these guys!
I feel like Ripper is the most recent example of this. His character arc was about him breaking a world record. He broke it. It's Episode 5. Now he can leave the show, right-
Nope. He's around till Episode 8. Out of 13. And even then, in Episode 13, he's Millie's partner, which means screen time.
It sounds unjustified because it is. I'm not the biggest Ripper hater, but I definitely see the complaints. (Ripper and Damien swapping places are the only part of the elimination order I would change. Everything else is pretty spot on.)
We already have MK as a pre-merge antagonist and Julia as a post merge antagonist, we don't need this rando bully character as well as it adds nothing. Maybe Ripper would've been better liked if he wasn't a bully and just some morally average comic relief guy, but also... probably not.
But he's not the only fart based character in this show that gets complaints about screen time. Here's where I talk about the first gen.
For what I have seen, the ones with the biggest screen time complaints are Owen, Duncan, and Beth. I don't count Heather cause it's on purpose. I count Sierra because it's a personal gripe I have.
Owen was the original winner of TDI, came back on the show in the second season for a mole subplot nobody likes, and merged season three. He and Noah also got a spinoff.
Beth was the finalist of TDA.
And everyone hates it, including myself.
Then there's Duncan. Easily the character the show focuses on the most. Season 1? 4th place. Season 2? Winner. Season 3? Gone half the season so he's only in 8 episodes not counting what he didn't compete in, but he scored 5th overall. Season 5? Weakest performance, but he still merged. That's 8th place by the way.
By far, THIS is the character in this show that gets the MOST horrendous flack for his screen time. And from what I've learned, if you think this, you probably hate Duncan as a character.
Like, I haven't watched Winx, but I saw videos on YouTube that made fun of Bloom for getting too much screen time.
Somebody do those but with Duncan! I'm not a Duncan hater, but I would like to get a laugh!
So it'd just be easy to say the writers played favorites, it was an issue, and be done with it, right?
Except no.
My GF watched World Tour just recently. (And she was mixed on it.) Her comments regarding Duncan and Gwen were that she wished they had more interactions to sell them (she was routing AGAINST Duncney, basically) and it didn't help that Duncan was gone half the season. She said that it would've helped all the characters involved if he stayed to flesh that out.
To that I went: "Huh. That's interesting how you take no issue with this character's screen time."
But why though? She's not a stan of him, she's a casual viewer, so that can't be it.
And that's when it hit me.
Beth and Sierra. These two make it through an entire season each. And we both collectively hate them as characters. And we hate seeing them on screen.
That's because it's what the characters DO with their screen time.
See what I'm talking about:
Season 1: Duncan is an established character that develops relationships and friendships and learns to open up to people outside of his comfort bad boy zone.
Trent spends 16 episodes sitting still and looking pretty with a guitar. (Okay that's probably not a great example, and I don't hate Trent, but you kinda get it)
Season 2: Duncan is dealing with revenge on Harold for his spoiled relationship with Courtney where he gets abused by her, fights to hold his own, and dumps her.
Beth spends the entire season talking about a fake boyfriend and cheating on it.
Season 3: Duncan, again, is only competing in 8 episodes out of 26, but what does he do? He establishes a new relationship with Gwen, gets her cancelled, forms a friendship with Alejandro, and gets played.
Sierra is there the entire season sexually harassing Cody and passing it off as quirky. We hate to see it. (Seriously, you guys think the love triangle is worse than this? My GF and I agreed we would rather watch the love triangle ten times again, over Sierra being on screen at all.)
What's the difference here? STORY.
Certain characters have story to follow, that NEEDS that screen time to work. Ironically, the plotline of Duncan's that comes across the least genuine, is the season where he's on screen the least. (Not counting All Stars, but they're kind of equal in episodes Duncan's in.)
Again, imagine if we never had that backstory sequence of Gwen Stacy. Yes it eats up screen time, but without it? She would come across as an ingenuine traitor who supposedly ditched her dad for some cool spider society. We NEEDED that sequence.
Duncan is always doing something when the screen is focused on him.
The reason Beth and Sierra don't work despite having all the screen time in the world is that they do NOTHING with the screen time they get. Nothing of value at least. We could've learned a lot about their origins, Beth's underdog status, or Sierra's fanclub, flesh them out as dynamic characters to route for, with different sides of them that slip through time to time that gets the audience thinking.
Nope. Sexual harassment makes up for all of that. (I question why I put up with this show sometimes.)
That would be the case and that's the answer, just do something with your screen time and you're free to have as much as you want.
Except there's ANOTHER key to the puzzle here.
Duncan is in the top 4 of the TD cast for a reason.
He's a main character.
Something Jaune Arc is not.
Hello nemesis my old friend.
Look, I respect people who like RWBY. People can feel any way they want to about a show. Opinions are valid.
If you think Arcane is the worst show ever made, that's valid.
If you think Velma is the best show ever made, that's valid.
It's all VALID.
With that said I think this show is an absolute trainwreck when it comes to writing characters.
Now hold on before you say I hate everything about it, I don't. This show does have SOME merits to it. The music is stellar and I actually listen to the soundtrack from time to time. For a limited budget animation, it's impressive. The choreo is neat. I want these weapons. I actually like quite a few of the side characters. Keep in mind I said side.
But what I look for in a good show is a compelling story and interesting characters to follow.
Something this show just does not have in my opinion.
I keep saying I'll do an analysis post on why Team RWBY are awful protagonists, but I've been busy and my plate has not emptied. But one of my main points regarding them is screen time.
Keep in mind, I've only seen fully up to Season 8. I've only seen clips of Season 9, so whatever I say about 9 may not be accurate.
Team RWBY are the main characters of the show, and yet they have not done a single main character thing throughout EIGHT SEASONS. It's kind of incredible.
If I didn't know the name of the show but saw a clip, I'd assume the main character was Jaune, or Oscar, more on them later.
What have these girls contributed in the battle of Salem's forces?
Season 1: Blake helped stop a robbery. Not even all four of them, just Blake. (So did Sun and Penny.)
Season 2: They broke into the White Fang's secret operation and busted a train into the city to fight off some Grim, in time for Team CFVY to wipe them out. (Those characters appear TWICE in the ENTIRE show, this is the first time. Just to speak my point.)
Season 3: Yang got framed for assault which helped the bad guys. Ruby watched Pyyra die and she blasted an eyeball off Cinder.
Season 4: UH...
Season 5: They housed Oscar, they met Raven, and they took place in the battle of Haven where Yang got the relic. (So did Oscar, JNR, Qrow)
Season 6: They took the relic to Atlas. (So did Oscar, JNR, Qrow)
Season 7: They lied to the general about vital information that could've helped them get one on Salem, and doomed all of Atlas.
Season 8: They caused the death of a kingdom and fell through a hole.
Season 9: UH... (That's not me not knowing what happened in 9, they just climbed out of the hole, basically, as the season has nothing to do with Salem's forces.)
Now, because the main characters are not involved with the main plot very much, does that make them bad?
No. There ARE ways to utilize them outside of driving the external plot.
Some stories are Character vs Self, Internal Conflict. The basis of this show's story is that these kids who grew up to be military soldiers are learning that their lives and the world is not a fairy tale, and they're not the good guys. That SOUNDS like the show is all about internal conflict, right?
Well it's not.
I mean, they DO realize this and make a morally questionable choice with consequences they regret.
In Season SEVEN.
And even THEN, they're treated by gods themselves like they've done nothing wrong!
If you ask me, it should have happened a LONG time ago.
What internal conflicts do these girls have?
Ruby is a naive prodigy who wants to be a huntress and live out a fairy tale reality. And she lives out that dream. Then Pyyra dies and she loses that home. And then she's back to fairy tale land, just doing more crimes and hating authority. And I GUESS she learned a lesson in 9...? I just saw her as depressed.
Weiss is an heiress of a rich company trying to overthrow rule of her father, who hates her. She hates Faunus. She learns not to hate Faunus. And she gains a lot of powers.
Blake is part of a civil rights movement with Faunus and she likes assaulting her own kind and burning their homes. She also has an abusive boyfriend and kills him with a girlfriend by her side.
Yang lost her mommy and wants to find her. She loses her arm. She finds her mommy but doesn't give a s**t because plot. She also gets a girlfriend.
That's like Vi and Jinx's reunion, only they didn't care about seeing each other again after years, they just pointed fists and guns at each other and said, "Where's the arcane?! Where's Silco?! I'm not here for you, I have a police GF now!" "I'm not here for you, I just wanted an easy route to blast Piltover to pieces! Mwahaha!"
See where I'm going with that?
Internal conflict is a key to making characters screen time worth while.
But lets face it, Team RWBY not having very well established internal/relevance to the external conflict is not the full reason why this is a problem with their screen time.
It's their lack thereof.
Three quarters of every season, they're just sitting at some random place that's not even pretty to look at, and the SIDE CHARACTERS do all the plot relevant stuff.
See why I like the side characters better?
Lets look at that chart again:
Season 1: Sun and Penny stopped that robbery.
Season 2: Team CFVY stopped the Grim invasion.
Season 3: Pyyra's story and downward spiral to her death.
Season 4: Nora and Ren the season.
Season 5: Oscar. The tribe.
Season 6: Oscar again as he's responsible for the exposition involved in that season.
Season 7: Ironwood's descent into insanity AND Penny's descent into accidental heroism.
Season 8: Both those characters die. Everyone dies.
Season 9: ...okay, good point, there was no one else.
Okay so maybe Season 9 gets a pass, but the others? Can you really put Team RWBY in a plot summary?
And that's just external conflict talking, let's talk the MAIN CHARACTER with the INTERNAL conflicts throughout the ENTIRE show.
Jaune Arc.
A SIDE character, voiced by one of the writers, has some of the most plotlines to follow due to his internal struggle and conflict in this new war throughout the entire show.
He has something to do in MOST of the seasons of this show. Not unlike Duncan. The only time I think he didn't have anything going on was Season 7.
In the very first season, Jaune has an entire character arc surrounding him trying to find his inner strength with a one off bully character as an antagonist. That sounds fine, so what's the issue?
This character arc takes up FOUR episodes out of 16. A WHOLE QUARTER OF THE SEASON.
"Well, maybe those episodes cut away to other people at some points-"
No. They don't. It's all Jaune in all these episodes.
Season two is less so Jaune focused, but he has a little subplot surrounding letting go of his feelings for Weiss and finding another girl who would gladly take him. I guess it's priority respect because Neptune was into Weiss at the time? But those two wound up never being a thing, so...
The whole time I thought Weiss was just asexual, but then 9 came in to screw that idea.
Season three focuses on Pyyra, Jaune's love interest, and therefore he's vital to her story and her thought process, so much so that the big angst moment in the season is with him and their death kiss.
Season four and five are focused on Jaune's thirst for revenge on Cinder, a member of Salem's forces, for killing Pyyra. He learns about Salem's forces along the way, makes his own opinion about all this lore, and decides to help out due to his personal necessity.
Wow. He has an internal conflict going on, AND he's active with the external conflict. HMM...
Season six is him letting go of his grief after his moral failure from the Battle of Haven nearly getting Weiss killed. And also he pins Oscar to the wall because why not. It's brief but it's also a full on character arc.
Season eight, he kills Penny, a girl he has never interacted with before this point, and he's a grieving mess. So much so that season nine also includes Jaune dealing with MULTIPLE grieving instances and personal failures.
Everyone else got a seasonal break from the story, and yet Jaune could not.
Now, is this a screen time issue?
Yes.
But NOT for the reasons you might think.
Let's go off of Duncan again, a character with a major status in the show's story and conflict from day one. He was designed that way.
Jaune was not designed that way. BUT I don't actually hate his story for the screen time he gets. In fact, he's probably one of the most interesting characters in the show because there's so much time dedicated to his struggle and his story.
The elephant in the room isn't because Jaune has a story.
It's because the main characters don't have a story.
Again, Arcane, that show focuses on a LOT of characters that aren't Vi and Jinx. You could argue Jayce is the Jaune in their universe. But why does it work? Because there is NOT a neglect of characterization of the leads.
In RWBY, there's a serious neglect issue.
And it's not just Jaune. There are other side characters who've been stealing time away from the leads.
Oscar, ever since he debuted Season 4, has been devoted to screen time stealing, and stealing the main character status with a Chosen One narrative and a pretty offensive way of portraying Multiple Personality Disorder. He's the one with the chosen one story, he's the one who interacts with the bad guys, he's toe to toe with Ironwood, he's the one related to Salem, and he does all of it with the personality of a hollow pine tree.
I mean I guess he also has a crush on Ruby, but... I don't want to get into that.
Hell, CINDER, an ANTAGONIST of the show, has more conflict and screen time than the leads. And she's one of my least favorite characters in the entire show, isn't that sweet?!
On top of that, she's a VILLAIN. We shouldn't be routing for her!
Then there's the rest of JNPR. Nora and Ren have a season focused on them, that being season 4. Pyyra is the same case with season 3. Pyyra dies in that season, so she's obviously not getting screen time any further. But Ren and Nora are alive, AND they have a subplot in the Atlas arc. Having a subplot isn't a problem, it just becomes jarring when the main characters don't have an arc and they do.
Penny gets revived and dies in the Atlas arc. That's also a thing.
The fix here should be really simple! Swap roles! Have the side characters sit in the houses with their little arcs, and have Team RWBY on the fields reacting to everything. It wouldn't excuse their lack of inner struggle, but at least they'd be involved with the plot.
There are many ways you could fix this. Like Oscar's role of being related to Salem. Ruby's mom is dead, but like, what if her mom was Salem and was taken out in war and revived/corrupted into this monster figure? That'd be an interesting narrative.
And RWBY is not the only show, the previous season of Pretty Cure, Delicious Party, ALSO has this issue. And arguably they did it worse because I don't even care for the side characters there either. I'd be repeating myself with criticism there:
Yui, the supposed main character, has no character trait other than be a glutton and a stand in for her grandmother, the other Cures are also irrelevant to the plot and just spend their time eating. The boys of this magical girl show are the focus and have all the wishy washy plotlines, and none of them are even that interesting.
I will give RWBY this over Delicious Party to prove I can see its merits:
At least they only have ONE forth wall narration and do know boundaries to that stuff, as opposed to Delicious Party that thinks their viewers are IDIOTS, and needs a narrator to explain EVERYTHING. CONSTANTLY.
(What a new low for that franchise, am I right? At least we have Hirogaru Sky.)
So what have we learned here?
To answer the question: Is Screen Time An Issue For A Character?
No. It's not that simple.
It's what the character DOES with that screen time that matters. And their role in the story that warrants this screen time.
They need to have all the details of their story laid out for you to care about them.
They need every scene involving their story to matter.
They need to have a plotline that justifies the screen time, small role or big role.
They need to be involved with the main story if they are a major character.
They need an internal conflict to keep the time on them engaging.
They need to be doing something.
If they are a minor character, additional screen time is not a bad thing.
A minor character with a lot of screen time could be there to advance the world building, they could be heavily connected to major character, relationship or otherwise.
But the minor characters don't become favorites and neglect focus on the people the story is revolving around.
First Person POV is a difficult storytelling technique when it comes to screen time, but it's not a bad tool. It can be used as a certain perspective for every character involved if done properly.
And just... screen time alone isn't a valid criticism in my opinion. It's WAY more complicated than that.
What's your opinion? Reblog your thoughts, I'm very curious, especially with media with this issue I did not cover.

I have this idea in my head: Sleepover with Jinx, Vi, Caitlyn (separately)? I just received my pink unicorn onesie with socks in the set and it inspired me to ask this question. Of course, the reader also bought a blue unicorn onesie for Caitlyn and Jinx and a pink onesie for Vi.
What could I expect and what do you think we would do?
Watching movies?
Playing video games?
All-night talk?
Of course, I invite you to this pajama party too c:
No party like a pajama party c:
Jinx: Your onesie gift has been shredded and repurposed into something with studs, safety pins and a glow-in-the-dark eye at the back (so you can be treated to the sight of her sneaking off in the middle of the night to rummage through other people's recycling bins for cogs and doodads).
She will arrive at your place with her own gaming console, her own snacks, and a burner phone that buzzes at three hourly intervals. If she doesn't send a text, a car with tinted windows begins circling your block, flashing lights at your doorstep. If asked, she'll roll her eyes and sigh, "Ughhhh, just my dad's minions. Gotta make sure I haven't been abducted by the evil weevils of suburbia."
Weirdness aside, she's a bundle of hyperactivity. She'll suggest one movie, grow bored, and when you go refill the popcorn bowl, you'll come back to another movie in its place. Halfway to the one-hour mark, she'll fall asleep curled like a cat on the couch. In the middle of the night, you'll wake up to the clamor of her raiding your fridge for midnight snacks. She'll have brought her own sleeping bag, but by morning, you'll wake up to her folded around you, her braids stuck in your mouth.
By eight o' clock sharp, Silco's limo will roll up, and issue a single imperious honk. Mouth stuffed with cereal, she'll scramble to get her things, give you a haphazard hug, and bounce out the door, "Ihadfungottagobyeeeeee!"
She'll leave her toothbrush behind at your place. That's no accident, but an excuse to come back again later.
Hopefully without Silco setting a timer on all her fun.
Vi: She shows up in the onesie with her overnighter slung from her shoulder, and two boxes of pizzas with your favorite toppings. There's also a nice bottle of some vintage brew she may have... appropriated from the Drop's cellar. "What Vander doesn't know won't make his customers drunker," she'll say with a wink.
She'll be amenable to playing video-games and a movie afterward. Unfortunately, the moment you start playing together, her competitive streak will take over and she will get intensely focused on winning, while shouting profanities at the other players through the headset. "N00b trending?! Oh, I'll show you n00b trending!" At some point she'll lose her temper and punch a dent into the wall.
Shit.
Um... send her the bill for that one, okay?
Afterward, stuffed full of pizzas, she will switch the lights off for spooky ambiance, and begin narrating creepy urban legends from the Undercity. This lady is good at horror stories. Like... a little too good. At some point you'll get so reeled in, that when the microwave dings to signal your popcorn is ready, you'll end up lurching from your seat and screaming at the top of your lungs.
Prepare to be ribbed mercilessly for the rest of the night.
You'll fall asleep together on the couch, watching movies. You'll wake up having overslept, and find yourself tucked in bed, and your house cleaned up. There will be a note on the counter, stating she had lots of fun but there was an emergency at the Drop so she had to dash.
Emergency? Oh, Mylo got busted for burglary and needed bail money.
Y'know. The usual Lanes drama.
Caitlyn: Oh, a pajama party? How exciting! She's never been invited to one before - unless falling asleep in Jayce's workshop counts? She appreciates the onesie gift, but alas, she's too tall, and it doesn't fit quite right. No worries. She's brought a gigantic pashmina shawl for you both to share. It's so soft and finely stitched that it's like being hugged by a cloud. An expensive, well-mannered cloud.
Video games aren't much her thing, unless there's a puzzle or a mystery to solve, and she's not really up on lots of movies. Her family were more the outdoorsy sort, spending summers hunting raptors on the family estate. She did learn how to make some native Tereshni dishes on vacation to the islands, however.
In the kitchen, she'll roll up her sleeves, and whip up something unusual but which smells and tastes pretty darn good. If asked how she learned to cook, she'll grow self-conscious, then admit to spending time with the family's cook a great deal, since there would seldom be anyone else at home, with her mother so busy with Council work, and her father off managing her various business affairs in her absence. Learning recipes gave her something to keep her mind on - and a practical life skill!
You'll end up spending the rest of the night swapping happy and not-so-happy childhood stories, then fall asleep nestled under her shawl like peas in a pod.
Afterward, you'll receive a lovely Thank You card and a box of candies from House Kirraman, and an invitation to have the next pajama party at their estate<3

tell us more ur thoughts on marcus arcane? i can send more specific qs if that helps
thank you :)
hello anon! feel free to send any questions, because at this point, marcus arcane is my chew toy, and i mull over him likely the most after mel. i simply cannot be normal about him.
so i just reblogged the character motivation sheet for jayce, and i really believe that marcus is parallel to jayce. how so, gentle, you may wonder. i'm so glad you asked. what marcus wants most seems to be the ability to keep piltover safe, and to fill the shoes that grayson left behind. we see this in act one, where he follows her religiously, acts in ways for HER best interest because that is how much he loves and respects grayson. AND LET ME PAUSE HERE BECAUSE!!!! WHEN EVERYTHING GOES DOWN AND GRAYSON DIES IN FRONT OF HIM AND SILCO THROWS HIM THE MONEY... and he says this wasn't the deal. JUDAS ISCARIOT!!! iykyk (and if you don't know i will soon be making a set so you see. so you understand). also... the fact that he kept the coin that was encrusted with grayson's blood. as a reminder. marcus,,,,,, baby boy... anyways. let me continue.
I think it's also important to realize that this is likely when he becomes sheriff, seeing as he was grayson's protege. AND THIS IS ANOTHER THING. he and caitlyn were both proteges of grayson. and i believe part of him hates caitlyn, because he realized, in the end that he was a fool, just as grayson had said. that caitlyn was somehow bringing more change/peace than he could. and here's where i strongly believe that if grayson had been around longer, died later, marcus would have been completely passed over as sheriff and the job would have gone to caitlyn, if it had been up to grayson.
ANYWAYS. so then, timeline's a little fuzzy, but i think the year grayson died was the year marcus became a father. after the time skip, i estimate ren to be about 6-7 years old, which means that marcus' main motivation had switched from continuing grayson's legacy to keeping his daughter safe. again, how can we tell? during the funeral for the enforcers, where he's talking of the enforcers protecting mothers, fathers, sons. the camera zooms in to focus on marcus as he mentions daughters.
AND THEN. when he meets with silco, sees the bomb and envisions himself pulling the trigger, and killing both himself and silco. yeah, that scene lives in my head rent free. marcus has always been ready to be the marytr, and i believe, already he considers himself one. the only reason he does not, i think, because then his daughter, ren, would have no one else. i think silco sees he is losing marcus that day, and that is why he turns up to marcus' house, ren's room. and marcus' face when he sees her with him.... people died. (it's me, i am people). it breaks him because the only reason he has remained under silco's thumb, is his desire to protect this daughter, despite the fact that doing so corrupted him.
and then when he holds the gun at caitlyn, he cannot bring himself to pull the trigger. why? WHY can't he pull the trigger? perhaps because of grayson's memory? or perhaps does he think of his daughter in that moment. does he remember that she is someone's daughter too. like, marcus isn't a killer. it's not what he does. he had the opportunity to kill vi, but didn't. he could have killed cait, but again, he didn't. in any case, she does not end up dying, and it is marcus who dies instead.
WHAT ARE HIS LAST WORDS?????????? "Tell my daughter..." I love her. we never get to hear him say it, but we know. we know because after all, everything marcus has done is protect his daughter. to give her safety, and a home. she was his reason for living, and she becomes his undoing, too. he's just a man who was doomed by the narrative before he'd even begun. and in the end, he failed to protect his daughter. i really hope that next season, we get to see marcus' daughter, that caitlyn tells ren that her father loved her.
anyways. if you read this far, kudos to you. if you have any further questions about him feel free to drop them on me.

The arcane girls reacting to finding out you have an identical twin! (You constantly prank them and act like the other.) And what they do:
Tumblr media
Jinx:
She'd find it so cool! She would ask SO many questions. Would NOT leave you two alone. She'd whine. "I want an identical twin, too!" She'd try to find birthmarks or beauty marks on your body (with your permission) to find a way to tell who's who.
"OOOOH! IS IT TRUE THAT TWIN TELEPATHY IS REAL?! HOW DOES IT WORK?!"
"Be careful, trink', they might kill ya if you're not careful." Would DEFINITELY tease you, saying one of you might be the 'evil twin' that wants to kill the other.
If you guys look exactly the same she'd try to see the difference between your voices. She finds it fun when she realizes you two switch sometimes to prank people. She'd definitely play along sometimes only to grab you by your waist and kiss you. "I know which is who, sugar! Can't fool me this time!"
Tumblr media
Vi:
She'd be so confused at first. "Ooo..kay. Am I tripping or am I seeing two of you?" She'd back away a bit, shocked. She'd ask a few questions but not a lot of course.
"woah, woah, wait. So you're telling me.. you have an IDENTICAL TWIN and you never told me???" She'd scoff and smirk, playfully.
She'd find it nice, although hates it when you two play games. She finds it funny at first but if it's often she gets a bit pissed. so make sure not to overdo it!
She'd love to get to know both of you and find out ways to tell who's who! would make sure she knows who's who before kissing you, though. Sometimes you'd spend even a day or two not getting any affection cause she's not sure who's who and doesn't want to upset you in any way. </3
Tumblr media
Caitlyn:
Would be shocked, wouldn't ask a lot of questions right away. If she does it's quick. She's shocked but she's the one out of all three who wouldn't ask a lot of questions. 'cept maybe she'd ask for baby photos of you two, mainly you.
Would find the switching funny, but would get a bit annoyed at times. Just don't overdo it, poor girl is already stressed out. Loves hearing you two talk about your childhood adventures. She could spend hours watching you two talk about them.
She knows who's who. So she doesn't need to worry, how? You ask? Don't even bother asking cause she won't give it up. "If I do, you'll only use it against me so you can prank me again. I won't let you do that." She'd chuckle every time you two would try, most of the time you'd fail. But if you're lucky, it works!
"Very funny, but I know who's who, hon. Don't even try." She's overall really happy you introduced her to someone from your family. She'd love for them to stay and would love to meet them all.

Tumblr media
Sevika: something of mine
Tumblr media
Past midnight, the only sounds echoing through your apartment were your own footsteps. It had been a long night, a fun one spent catching up with your closest friends. Knowing that your girlfriend was likely already sound asleep, you tried to be as quiet as possible as you kicked off your shoes. With it being so late, you decided to just go straight to bed instead of taking a shower first. The noise might wake up Sevika and you knew all too well how groggy she could be when you would wake her up at the wrong time. But you were also pretty sure she wouldn’t object to some cuddles after a long day.
As you approached the bedroom, you noticed a dim light shinining from underneath the door. Was she still awake? You slowly pushed open the door and saw Sevika sitting in your bed. One of the nightlights was switched on and illuminated a book in her hands. A familiar looking bookmark was sticking out from in between the pages. An empty glass on the nightstand indicated she had been there a while already.
“Is that mine?” you asked, inquisitively.
Sevika looked up at you, almost seeming surprised. It looked like she hadn’t heard you approach the bedroom.
“It is.” she replied, glancing back down at the book as she picked up a piece of paper from the nightstand and placed it in between the pages. She closed the book, which now had two bookmarks in it, and put it down beside her empty glass.
“I saw you reading it yesterday. Could barely get your attention, you were so absorbed in it.” she smirked.
“Yeah, it’s really good.” you smiled, trying to hide a blush. Talking about your special interests sometimes got you a little flustered.
“Thought I’d give it a shot. Maybe we could talk about it together.” Sevika patted the empty spot beside her. “But not now, it’s late. Get in here.”
You happily obliged, crawling into bed beside her and wrapping yourself up in the sheets. They smelled like her, a scent that you grew to love a little more with each passing day. Sevika wrapped a strong arm around you, pulling you close to her pleasantly warm body. She briefly ran her hand through your hair, sending shivers up your spine. As she did, you traced the blue scars on her neck with your fingers before nuzzling your head in the crook of her neck. Within minutes, you could feel her drifting off to sleep.
“Why were you still up if you’re so tired?” you mumbled into her neck.
“I like to be awake when you get home.” she said, half whispering, sounding so sleepy. “I sleep better when I know you’re well and you’re here.”
“That’s so sweet.” you cooed. “I’m here. Let’s sleep.”
She pulled you in a little bit closer, softly squeezing your shoulder with her hand.
“I’m glad. Good night.”
VI: hold me close
Tumblr media
A delicious aroma filled the air, making your mouth water more and more with every ingredient you added to the pan of sauce on the stovetop. It was just a regular weekday, no special occasion or anything, you just really felt like cooking up something delicious tonight. You spent a little extra on some high-quality ingredients, looked up a good recipe and just went for it. The results so far were looking and smelling promising. A small taste-test confirmed it. This meal was truly going to be something special and you knew Vi was gonna love it. She always worked so hard and you felt like she deserved something extra nice every once in a while.
Almost like she could hear you thinking about her (or maybe she just followed the scent of your cooking), you heard the front door open. You turned around, eager to greet her, and heard the door slam shut again. Loud. Sometimes she would come home like that, angry and frustrated at everyone and everyone but you, not knowing what to do with herself. It seemed like today was one of those days again.
Peeking around the corner of the kitchen, you saw her looking around the place, seemingly looking for you. She was frowning and she looked tired, but you greeted her with a smile like you always tried to do. Neither of you spoke, but she slowly approached the kitchen to see what you were doing. Still focused on your cooking, you quickly got back to the various pots on the stovetop.
“Hi love.” you said as you heard her enter the kitchen.
“Hey.” she replied, clearly trying to look and sound like everything was fine, but the tone of her voice revealed her exact mood at the moment. And it wasn’t good.
“Bad day?” you asked, turning around slightly so you could look at her.
A crack immediately formed in her stoic appearance as you saw the corner of her mouth twitch at your question.
“Kinda. Sorta. Yes.” she said, crossing her arms and leaning back against the counter beside you. You could tell she was still trying to restrain herself. You gave her a worried look.
“Do you want to talk about it?”
“Nope.”
Sometimes talking about it helped, sometimes it didn’t. You didn’t really mind, as long as she didn’t bottle everything up indefinitely. But even if she didn’t want to talk, you wanted to do something for her.
You put down the utensils you had been using and put one of your arms around Vi. She didn’t push you away, but you could feel her stiffen up a little.
“Come on, I’m fine..” she grumbled, but she didn’t protest as you put a second arm around her as well.
You wrapped your arms tightly around her shoulders, holding her in a loving embrace. She hesitantly let her hands rest on your back, still unsure of if she wanted to be hugged right now or not.
“I’m glad you’re home. I love you, you know that, right?” you hummed in her ear, resting the side of your head against hers as you held her close. And as you did, you felt her starting to shake a little. She let out a sharp, shaky breath as you felt her arms move from lightly resting on your back to being tightly wrapped around your waist.
Vi didn’t speak, just buried her face in your neck as she held you even tighter. You felt tears slowly drip down onto your neck and your shoulder as she quietly let out her emotions. Only for about a minute, then the tears stopped. She continued to hold you for just a little longer, clinging onto you like she never wanted to let go again. You gently turned her around so that her back was against the stove, careful to keep her a safe distance away from the flames.
“What are you..” she mumbled, noticing you were doing something behind her back.
“Shh, just stay where you are. As long as you need.” you said, attempting to turn her head back around
“You’re making food behind me?” she laughed through the remnants of her tears when she realized you were stirring the pot of sauce behind her.
“It’s gonna be so good. I just have to keep stirring it or else it’ll burn.”
“Well, I have to admit..” she said, resting her chin on your shoulder. “this is by far the nicest thing someone has done behind my back today.”
Caitlyn: always so busy
Tumblr media
Five past four. She was supposed to be here five minutes ago, but at this point you were not worried yet. You knew Caitlyn was a busy woman, she was always spending so much time at work. Today, you had made plans to meet in between her shifts, at a cozy little café. Any time spent with her was precious, so you would take whatever time you could get.
You had arrived ten minutes early, so by now you were a little bored sitting by yourself. Keeping yourself busy by snacking on the complimentary biscuits on the table, you tried to not look at the clock too much.
“You sure I can’t get you anything?” a waiter had suddenly appeared beside you.
“No thank you, I’m still waiting for someone.” you replied.
The waiter gave you a sympathetic look. “Date standing you up?”
You looked back at the clock. Ten past four. They weren’t wrong to assume, you had been here for twenty minutes now.
“No, no. She wouldn’t.” you assured them.
Suddenly, the door of the café swung open, the cute little bell above it ringing loudly, making the few other people also sitting in the café turn their heads in surprise. Standing in the doorway was Caitlyn, her face red and sweaty and she was completely out of breath.
“Sh- I mean, oops. My apologies” she said in between breaths, looking up at the bell above the door and straightening her clothes.
You smiled and turned towards the waiter, who was still standing beside you. “We’ll have two cappuccinos. And two lemon cupcakes, please.”
Caitlyn hurriedly walked over to you, plopping down onto the empty seat in front of you, still trying to catch her breath.
“I’m so sorry. There was an incident at the plaza, and the paperwork that came with it-“
“Cait, it’s fine.” you laughed, “you’re only ten minutes late. That’s nothing.”
She reached her hands out to grab your own hands resting on the table in front of you. Her hands felt warm against yours, her body still flushed from apparently running towards the café. She held your hands gently, slowly stroking them with her thumbs.
“That’s ten minutes less spent with you. To me, that’s a lot.”
It was hard to hide the blush appearing on your cheeks. “I’m glad you think so.”
The waiter soon returned with your order. Caitlyn seemed hungry, the cupcake you had ordered for her was gone withing two minutes. Some days she didn’t have time to eat during her shift. You couldn’t help but worry about her sometimes.
Even though your time together at the café was short, you thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. After only thirty minutes, Caitlyn’s break was over again and she had to go back to the station. Outside of the café, before you went your separate ways again for the day, Caitlyn reached out to hold your hands again.
“Look, I’m.. sorry we don’t do this more often. I really am.” she said, looking down.
“Cait, it’s ok. I know your job means a lot to you.”
“You mean a lot to me too now.” she looked up at you. “I’m going to talk to some of my superiors. See if I can figure something out so I can spend more time with you.”
“That’s.. really nice of you. But please don’t feel like you have to.”
“I don’t.” she said softly, reaching a hand up to cup around your cheek. “It’s because I want to. I really want to.”
Jinx: made for you
Tumblr media
“Jinx?”
The sound of your voice echoed off the walls, but Jinx was nowhere to be seen.
“I’m here, are you ready to leave, or..?”
Again, no answer but your own echo. You knew she was around here somewhere, you just didn’t know where. Earlier that week you had made plans to go out and it wasn’t like Jinx to flake last-minute. She always loved going places with you, even if it was just something simple like getting lunch.
Just as you were about to turn around and leave, you saw her poke her head around a corner. She had a huge smile on her face and looked very happy to see you. The headphones covering her ears were probably the reason she didn’t hear you the first time.
“Just a minute! I’ll be right there!” she yelled at you excitedly. “And DON’T come over here! It’s a secret!”
“What’s a secret?” you yelled back, trying to get a peek from where you were standing. No response.
“Fine. Keep your secrets.” You turned around to face the door, your arms crossed in a mild protest. A few moments later, Jinx surprised you by attacking you with a hug from behind and pressing a big kiss onto your cheek.
“I’m working on something new.” she grinned. “It’s gonna be fun. It’s not even an explosive this time. Ideally, it shouldn’t explode at all. Anyway..”
She released you from the hug and grabbed you by the shoulders, turning you around so you were facing her now.
“This is very important. You’re gonna help me build it.”
“I am?” you said, a look of confusion on your face.
“Yes. All you have to do.. is tell me something that you like.” she said, sounding dead serious.
Something you like? How would that help you with what she was making? And whatever the hell was she making anyway?
“I don’t get it.” you laughed sheepishly.
“It’s very simple. To help me, just tell me something you like.” she said, intently looking you in the eyes.
“You?”
You giggled as you watched her face turn beet red. Clearly, that wasn’t the answer she had been expecting. But it wasn’t a wrong answer, because you really did like her a lot. And she knew it. You just didn’t say it out loud like this all that often.
“That’s not what I meant!” she stammered, “I mean, I like you a lot too, but that’s not what this is about! Okay, it kinda is, but not like that! Just tell me something else you like, like cookies or rainbows or something.”
“Uh.. poros? I like poros, they’re so cute and fluffy.”
“Yes. Good. I can work with that. Sheesh.” she sighed, but she followed it up with a laugh. “Alright, sorry, that was weird. Let’s go.” she said as she gestured towards the door.
You followed her out the door, ready to leave and have some fun outside. Holding hands as you walked, you tried to figure out whatever the little project was that she was working on. And why she needed to know a thing you liked. It was hard to connect the two, but whatever it was, you were sure she would show you in time.
“So why ask for something I like?” you decided to ask as your final question on the matter.
“Ok, so it’s gonna be something I myself like. Obviously” she explained. “Now it’ll also be something you like. Yes? And finally, it’ll be a gift for someone I like.”
She blushed a little again, but she was still smiling. “Full circle, get it?”
“I get it, yeah. Can’t wait to see it.” you smiled back at her.
“Tough luck. You’re gonna have to!” she laughed.
Cassandra: mirror, mirror
Tumblr media
“It’s only a neighborhood gathering, right? You could wear a sundress. The weather is lovely today.” you suggested to Cassandra, who was taking her sweet time picking out an outfit for the afternoon.
“I’ve told you before, it’s not that simple. Please, don’t rush me.” she replied, sounding slightly annoyed at you. You could also detect a hint of frustration in her voice.
You sighed. “I’m trying not to. But it’s starting in twenty minutes. You need to choose something.”
Silence, followed by the sound of a dress being tossed away. You were used to Cassandra’s dressing up routine by now. It usually took a while, but you knew why. Due to her status, she always desired to look immaculate. Waiting for her for an hour just to go out to get coffee was frustrating, but you tried to be understanding and put up with it for her sake. Despite the annoyingly long times you had to wait for her, you did love her a lot, after all.
The dress she had tossed onto the floor was peeking out from behind the dressing screen. Worried it would get dirty, you picked it up off the floor.
“Why not this one?” you asked, absentmindedly studying the soft fabric. It was a simple, yet beautiful white dress with small yellow and golden flowers on it.
“A sundress is very casual. Too casual for this occasion. You show up in a dress like that and people will assume you think you’re just there to have fun.”
“We’re not there to have fun?” you asked, a little confused. “Is it not a neighborhood gathering?”
“This is Piltover. Everything is business.” she huffed, trying on another dress. “But show up in something too formal, and people will think you’re merely there to get something out of them.”
“So it’s not business?”
“It’s not business. And yet it is. It is both. And neither.”
High society Piltover politics. You never quite got to understand it during your time spent with Cassandra. To you, it all seemed like made-up rules by made-up hierarchies and titles.
“Can I please get your opinion on this one. I’m.. out of options.” you heard her quietly say behind the dressing screen.
When you walked behind the screen, you saw she was wearing a knee-length blue dress with a high neck and a tight waist. A formal dress. Way too formal for a neighborhood gathering.
“It’s lovely. But I don’t think-”
“It’s too formal.” she cut you off, sounding even more frustrated now, staring at herself in the mirror.
“Hey. Please. You worry too much.” you said softly, carefully reaching out to give her a hug from behind. She felt tense, so tense as you wrapped your arms around her waist. For a moment, she held her breath as you touched her, but soon she released that tension with a long, deep sigh. She placed her arms over yours, holding you as she stared at herself in the mirror.
“The sundress, the one with the flowers. Combine it with the big yellow sunhat, a small belt around your waist and those heels you got last week. You’ll look lovely. It’ll be fine.” you said quietly.
“I think.. I think that would work, yes.” she exhaled, sounding relieved.
She squeezed your arm with one of her hands. “Thank you, love. Whatever would I do without you.”
Grayson: pick one
Tumblr media
“Grayson?”
“Yes, darling?”
“Would you prefer it if I brought you a gift or if we spent some time together just talking?”
You tapped your pen on the magazine you were holding in front of you, closely studying its pages.
Grayson looked up from the book she was reading, sitting beside you on the couch, your legs draped over hers as you leaned back against the side.
“Why? Is it a special occasion?” she looked at the calendar on the wall across the room. “Oh, no. Did I forget something?”
“No, don’t worry. Just curious.” you assured.
“Oh. I see.” she sighed, relieved. “In that case, I suppose would prefer to just spend time with you.”
“Got it.” you mumbled, scribbling something down on the magazine in front of you. “And if you had to choose between receiving a gift from me or receiving a hug, what would you choose?”
“Ah.. uhm. A gift?” she replied, sounding confused. “I would rather have both, though.”
“But what I mean is if you can only pick one. What about- “
“Alright, what are you doing?” she said, trying to look at the magazine you were holding in your hands, but you quickly yanked it away.
“No peeking!”
“I’m not cooperating until you tell me what you’re doing.”
On the pages in front of you was a quiz. You had noticed it in a shop earlier that day and the quiz was something that got you curious. A list of twenty ‘this or that’ questions, a scoreboard for every question. The title “what is your partners love language?” pasted in big letters at the top. At this point in your relationship with Grayson, you hadn’t been able to figure out her love language yet. One day you swore she was all about physical touch, while on other days she would offer to help you with just about anything.
“It’s a quiz. I’m trying to figure out your love language.”
Grayson looked confused. She had clearly never heard of this concept before.
“English?”
“No. I mean, yes, in a way. There’s five of them. Acts of service, receiving gifts, quality time, words of affirmation, physical touch. I’m trying to see which one fits you.”
Grayson laughed, amused and a little endeared by your silly little quiz.
“That’s ridiculous.” she shook her head. “Why pick just one?”
“Because that’s how the test works!” you exclaimed, throwing your arms up in the air. “This is a real thing! I’m just really curious!”
“Alright.” Grayson chuckled. “I know something. I’ll show you.”
“What?”
She silently walked to the kitchen, taking a few dirty dishes from the table with her, gesturing for you to stay put. When she got back, one of her hands was behind her back.
“My love. My dearest.” she said, adding a little extra dramatic flair to her voice, “Because I love you so much, I brought the dishes to the kitchen so you wouldn’t have to. And if I might add, you’re looking lovely today.”
“Okay.. thank you?” you said, a little apprehensive.
Grayson reached out to hold your hand, reaching it up to her mouth to kiss it gracefully. Unusual as this was for her, those soft lips felt really nice against your fingers.
“And I bought these for you today.” she added, producing a pack of cookies from behind her back and placing them in your hand.
“Oh, I love these!” you said, excitedly opening the pack right away.
“I’m not done yet.” she added, “And I cannot wait to spend some quality time with you this evening. There, I believe that makes five.”
“Oh, come on, you can’t just do all of them.” you grumbled. “That’s not how it works.”
“And yet I did.” she said triumphantly, sitting down beside you on the couch again.
“You can’t make me choose. I will be loving you in every language I know.”

Arcane Analysis: Jinx and Caitlyn
I keep seeing people mention this offhandedly, but I have yet to see a long-winded analysis about it, so instead I will provide it.
Jinx and Caitlyn are foils
I’m a firm believer that if Caitlyn had been born in Zaun, and Powder born in Piltover, they would have turned out just like each other. Caitlyn and Jinx are cut from the same cloth, and are wildly similar. Both are considered misfits and don’t have any friends, both rely primarily on intelligence rather than strength, both are talented marksmen, and both are deeply insecure. (I also think both are autistic, but that’s a whole other thing). And there’s also the obvious of them being the two people who love Vi the most and are the two most important people in Vi’s life.
But where they differ is in morality. Caitlyn hates violence and despite being a sniper, steadfastly refuses to kill. Jinx does…not, to say the least. But she used to. In Act 1, Powder is a pacifist who seems horrified by the idea of killing. And then she goes through unimaginable trauma and makes some poor decisions and becomes almost a funhouse mirror of both Caitlyn and the person she used to be. Caitlyn is what she should have been, she’s the future she was robbed of as a child. She’s what Powder was always meant to be. And in a way, Jinx represents the same for Caitlyn: a possible future if she’s not careful. If their positions had been switched, (Caitlyn being born in Zaun and Jinx being born in Piltover), they would have ended up just like each other. Caitlyn does not have the skill set to survive in Zaun, just like Powder didn’t, and probably would have been faced with the same choice Powder was: die, or adapt. As for Powder, she definitely would have become a scientist at the Academy, but I could definitely see her being enchanted by the Enforcers the way Caitlyn was, and maybe she would have primarily made bombs for them or other weapons and armor.
I also think this is part of why Vi falls in love with Caitlyn over the course of two days, because Caitlyn reminds her of Powder. She has all the qualities she liked but can no longer find in Powder. Vi herself even compared them when she saw Caitlyn’s conspiracy board ( which we need to talk more about as a fandom, because Caitlyn is canonically a crazy conspiracy theorist). “ And I thought Powder could get obsessed!” Vi sees it.
So why do they hate each other, and are they aware of this? Well, Jinx ruined Caitlyn’s life, so Caitlyn has every right to hate her. She also just doesn’t know much about Jinx and has no idea about this similarity. She would also be deeply offended and in denial if someone brought this up to her, so.
But what about Jinx? This may come as a surprise, but I say she is painfully aware of this. Would she ever admit it? Absolutely not, but she knows it. She hates Caitlyn for two reasons: the obvious one we’re presented with, that Caitlyn stole Vi from her or is manipulating her sister, and that she’s deeply jealous and resentful. She knows that’s part of why Vi likes her so much, because Caitlyn is a better version of her, and she sees Caitlyn as a representation of everything she’s lost. Not to mention the fact that Jinx hates everything about herself, but most notably her childhood self, so of course she’s going to hate someone who reminds her of her childhood self.
One of my biggest wishes for season 2 is that they explore this concept more.

The girl who would become Jinx grew up as an orphan in the streets of Zaun, and many remember her as a young tinker girl who was an outcast from normal society. At some point, she suffered a psychotic meltdown
Jinx became notorious for pulling pranks on the wealthy, causing stampedes, destroying public property, and even switching around street signs to cause confusion and traffic jams across the city. While these antics led to anarchy across Piltover, many simply brushed it off as a dumb joke that probably came from the chem-punk gangs of Zaun.
Jinx was furious, and hoping to be recognized for her work, decided to make more public appearances, spray-painting "JINX WAS HERE" at every crime scene as a calling card. Rumors quickly began to circulate about a pale, blue-haired Zaunite girl carrying heavy weapons and explosives wreaking havoc throughout the city, and soon the Piltover police caught notice of this crime spree. To stop this dangerous criminal, the Sheriff of Piltover dispatched her powerful new ally: Jinx's own sister Vi, armed with gauntlets and brute force.
As Jinx's reign of mayhem continued, her name became famous throughout both Piltover and Zaun. In Piltover, she was regarded as a lunatic; a criminal who should be dealt with accordingly for her reckless endangerment of the city. But in Zaun, many regarded Jinx as a hero for sticking it to the upper-classes of Piltover. Still, many Zaunites were left worried that Jinx was creating an unnecessary escalation of tensions between the two cities and feared that her actions could invite the retribution of the Piltover police in the streets of Zaun.
Jinx didn't care about any of this, for she was only interested in getting Vi's attention. To answer Vi's search, Jinx sent a spray-painted message for her on the walls of the Ecliptic Vaults: at a specified date in the future, Jinx would break into the treasury, and Vi wouldn't be able to stop the robbery.
Vi was skeptical that Jinx would even have the guts to show up on the date with the entire police force waiting, but nonetheless, she and Sheriff Caitlyn dispatched their best officers to guard the vault doors. But what they didn't realize was that Jinx had already smuggled herself into the vaults days earlier, and by the time Vi realized the trick it was too late, as the vaults exploded to rubble and Jinx had gotten away yet again.
Jinx, also known as The Loose Cannon, is a playable champion in the MOBA game League of Legends. She is the younger sister and archenemy of Vi and the adoptive daughter of Vander and later Silco, as well as one of his enforcers. Originally a kindhearted and sweet girl that always wanted to help her friends, a catastrophic tragedy she herself caused left Powder's mind and heart utterly broken.
Going by the name of Jinx years later, she was the top if immensely unstable enforcer of Chem Baron Silco. In time, Jinx would inadvertently cause yet another dire tragedy in her life, which would be the final straw. Her mind irrevocably shattered, Jinx would cast her past away forever and embark on a dark and crazed path of evil. An utterly insane anarchist with a love for chaos and destruction, Jinx wreaks havoc across Piltover using her explosive arsenal of weapons, spreading panic, death and destruction wherever she sets foot.
The 116th champion added to the game, Jinx was released on October 10, 2013, and is one of the most popular characters to be played in the bot lane.
To this day, Jinx remains the thorn in the side of Vi and Caitlyn, inspiring other chem-punk troublemakers across Zaun and constantly wreaking havoc wherever she goes. As the crimes pick up more steam, Vi doesn't know if she will be able to keep up, and Jinx relishes every moment of that.

Hey Badger I know you're a huge ass nerd and put lots of thought into title symbolism and we're all here to hear u ramble about it so
Do u have any chapter titles that you're really proud of and just waiting for the opportunity to gush about
(Thank you for the opportunity to take a break from writing hockey lesbians to write ABOUT my writing of hockey lesbians.
As for chapter titles - oh man, there’s a lot of them, and I can talk about every one with a decent degree of nerdiness, but I’ll try to keep it contained. Let’s dig in:
The general rule I tried to follow is that Vi’s chapters have a double meaning - a subtext and a context, while Cait’s POVs usually have to do with a feeling/sentimentality, or a reference that’s fairly heavy handed and obscure.
For instance, the Vi POV chapter 1 is titled No Protection, because Cait and Vi were left unprotected in the Zaun Sumprats Expansion Draft - that’s the context. The subtext, though, is that without their buffer both of them are defenseless against each other, and the barriers they put up to prevent themselves from understanding that they were the most important folks in each other’s lives came crashing down. So they had no protection from switching teams, but also they now have no protection against their feelings towards one another.
Teammates (Vi POV, chapter 3) also deals a similar hand - they actually accept that they’re teammates in that one, as in, they both are playing on the same team, but they discuss the idea (Vi pushes it) of them hooking up again while they’re both on the same team (”October, huh?”). VI also begins teaching Caitlyn the way of being a captain, making them a captain team of two. So you’ve got them as teammates, but them being a team, and also them starting to realise they could be mates, too.
I talked a little bit about Nordique (Caitlyn POV, chapter 20) in a previous ask - Acadia (Caitlyn POV, chapter 22) was a similar theme. Acadia was a Canadian colony in New France that was conquered by the english in 1713, and is also the subject of a very cool Mariana’s Trench song that is about losing your childhood and your innocent to the rigours of adulthood, recounting all the simpler times in a chipper tone before singing, sadly, “but Acadia is gone.” Acadia (the chapter in RATC) is the very last time that Caitlyn has any privacy or can hold onto the illusion in the public eye that she was fine on the Lone Stars, and her abuse is fully revealed. In this case it’s kind of a flip side of the Mariana’s Trench meaning - I use the imagery of Acadia as a dark secret that hurts Caitlyn, and it gets conquered by love, support, and her need to speak out to help protect others. It’s a little heavy handed, but I enjoyed the Nordique/Acadia references as a Canadian fella.
The last chapter title I’ll talk about (because this post has gone very long) is Viewfinder (Caitlyn POV, chapter 10). This follows a surface level meaning - this is the first chapter that the documentary present-tense POV is introduced - and we’re now seeing the characters through a viewfinder, but it goes a little deeper than that. This is the first chapter where Vi has realized she’s been a dick, backs off, respects Caitlyn’s boundaries, and also the first chapter that Caitlyn realises that there’s a lot more to Vi than she knew - the hints at the Vander backstory. Viewfinder is thus, a new view that Caitlyn has to find. But even further, I like the chapter title because viewfinders are what photographers compose and focus a shot with. This is the chapter after Caitlyn and Vi affirm that they believe they can win the entire title with this team, stop going through the motions, and decide to put their mark on the league with this season - together. Composing their ideology, and focusing on the task at hand.
Thank you for offering me this chance to brainrot, lepus! I’m always thrilled to answer questions.

I generally sneer and act like I'm above top vs bottom discussions and it's all bullshit anyway and the apprach of either applying stereotypes or extrapolating based on other behaviors (ie this character acts fearful in a fight, so they would be fearful in bed, this character is confident in conversations, so they could be confident in bed) is seriously flawed, besides all my favorite couples are all switches anyway, etc, etc...
But Vi is just such a total fluffy bottom to me it's not even funny. (I don't really interact that much with the f/f part of the Arcane fandom, so I have no idea if that is a majority opinion)
Anyway, I'm now going to elaborate on why:
1.) Vi is a total whump character. She's a character who takes a lot of physical damage, who puts herself into danger. The scene that establishes her canon love interest relationship is said love interest literally forcing healing onto her. Now Vi might not be the character who takes the most physical damage within the show, but I think what makes her different from for example Jinx and Silco is that we see her seeking out support more when she's hurt and being more open to accepting it (compared to "I'm gunna staple myself" Jinx and "I'm gonna pretend my most traumatic experience was an empowering growth moment" Silco). Granted => people who reject help and have to be shown they need it is probably their own kind and appeal, but I do think that there is a specific maleability to characters who understand they need closeness and seek it. (btw, I can see why Viktor is likely very appealing to people because of his whump appeal, but imo Viktor can also be quite snappy and assertive and so I can picture him also getting annoyed if people babyfy him for his condition aka I'm very down with top Viktor, I could picture him enjoying the contrast, plus he's kind of there with trying to be self sufficient)
2.) You know the eternal debates of people who are "oh, this character is so dominant and powerful in canon, people dom me!!" versus "actually the biggest subs are often people who are powerful in real life and seek out other people's domination as a contrast"? To me Vi personally epitomizes "I was handed responsibility for others but I'm tortured by it".
Granted, I can also see the argument that Vi was robbed of her power and agency by being put in jail (though she still acted tough there) so maybe she would need to feel in control to be powerful, but to me she doesn't really vibe that way to me/to me the vibe of "burdened by responsiblity" is just personally stronger for me.
btw, this suffering under the weight of responsibility for me is in contrast to let's say Vander, who is somebody who is certainly very acutely aware of the burden of responsibility BUT we also see Vander clearly enjoying being in a position of authority and respect and having fun with it at the Last Drop or negotiating with Grayson. Something that we don't really see with Vi, IMO. Now the fact that she is *good* at leading others, maybe even a natural like in the childhood heist to me isn't the same as being shown actually having fun with it or thriving through it.
Caitlyn is interesting to me, to me she has a very entitled "I don't really think about it" type of kind authority and of course she at this point is actually at the bottom of the authority line in her job in theory, so she's kind of the opposite of "has a ton of power and responsibility in her job and might seek contrast" at this point and of course we know she's gonna strive for authority later. I can see why one could read it that maybe she is avoiding authority by taking a "lowly" position among the enforcers rather than taking a position of power handed to her, but to me it just doesn't vibe that way because Caitlyn is so clearly strong headed and just doing what she wants regardless of her position within the force.
And for what it's worth, Jinx is somebody who to me never shows an interest in controlling other or seeking powers over others, she does her own thing. I guess this could also be read that maybe she avoids power/responsibility, just like she might avoid certain attachment out of fear of being hurt. She's also somebody who seeks out some comfort, but also shows off some hard edges. Overall, she's pretty neutral/switchy to me.
Ekko is another who is within a position of authority/responsibility within he show. Overall to me he so far strikes me as having a pretty level headed relationship with power/authority. He takes it seriously when people die under his watch but he doesn't act like over the top angsty about it. He is clearly proud of showing off what they achieved. Overall his community feels like he might be trying to make it more egalitarian, so even if he founded it and influences it, it doesn't necessarily feel like he seeks to control others or have power over others. He also seems to have a healthy relationship in regards to seeking comfort with Vi without it feeling like "gaping hole of need that needs to be filled".

Jinx’s Tea Party Scene Jinx x GN reader
(I wanted to write this scene a bit differently because I love this character a lot. It's so tragic that things turned out the way they did for practically everyone in the show, especially Powder. But I wanted to also remind people who share similar trauma with her that you are not alone. I can’t help but imagine what it would be like If Jinx had someone else in her life other than Silco and Vi to help keep her grounded. Don't get me wrong as much as Silco loves her their relationship was incredibly toxic and dangerous and partially lead to where we are now. In this scene, as much as Vi does try to get her sister back she has no idea how to heal her, and when she's trying to get her to remember her friends and family all it does is let the monster out even further. Now while I will be writing this from my perspective I will be using (y/n). I hope you enjoy it.)
As soon as you opened the door you heard voices. Stepping into the shadow you peered over to the bottom of the stairwell and saw the candle-lit table with three people toes to chairs and one long blue pigtailed girl pacing back and forth frantically.
“It can go away, please. Send her on her way an-”
Caitlyn’s muffled cries screamed out from behind Jinx. Vi turned her attention over to her purple-haired girlfriend strapped to a chair with pleading eyes and a gag wrapped around her mouth with a crude neon pink spray-painted smile.
“And, you can have Powder back,” Jinx said, practically begging Vi. She placed her gun into Vi’s hand, never taking her gaze off of her. Vi's hands shook, she looked back over to Caitlyn where she pleadingly shook her head. Vi looked back to Jinx.
“I-I can’t.”
Jinx scoffed. She yanked the gun out of Vi’s hands and raised it toward Caitlyn.
“No! Powder listen!” Vi screamed, tears welling up in her eyes, her voice breaking a bit. “W-we can just go! We’ll leave and never come back.”
Jinx’s expression dropped from a cold glare to a confused childlike pout. “Where would we go?” she asked. Before Vi could open her mouth again Jinx screamed out “No! No, she's not saying that!”
“It's true we can put this behind us and you’ll never have to see him again Powder!”
Silco leaned forward in his chair, angry muffled yells came from his gag. He flopped forward and started daggers at Vi and switched to a pleading stern expression to Jinx. She looked back at him and cocked her pistol.
“What do you have to say about that?!” she asked as he walked over to him and took out his gag. Spittle and drool sloshed out form his mouth and she spat angrily at Vi
“Her name is Jinx!” He screamed. Turning his attention over to jinx he said “You’ll be with her for a day before she realizes that you aren’t that girl anymore and turns her back on you!”
Jinx placed the gun up towards her cheek and twirls it a bit in a state of thought, contemplating what she had just heard.
“You aren’t lying, you wouldn't lie to me, right? Not again?” she asked. Vi leaned forwards towards her and shook her head.
“I’m not lying! I'm on your side!” Vi pleaded. As soon as she said that Jinx looked up and violently shot the crude stitched puppet of Mylo. The shot rang out and caused you to almost misstep and nearly tumble down the stairs. It pierced a champagne glass and chatted the side of it, it fell over, and Caitlyn took quick notice of it.
“Shut up! We’re talking!” she screamed at the vacant chair. Things were starting to get frantic. Everyone started talking all at once. Vi screamed out names of past friends and family at Jinx trying to get her to remember who and where she was. Silco screamed curses and venom toward vi while also yelling out to Jinx. Jinx slammed her pistol against the side of her head, grasping her hair and twisting and turning her body, begging for the noise and visions to stop. You quickly made your way down. The candlelight hadn't been strong enough to show your presence and you slowly made your way towards her. The darkness didn't help much and you had to watch where you were stepping, you got closer your heel cracked the rest of the broken glass on the floor and caught everyone’s attention.
Jinx looked up in your direction and cocked her pistol once more. With fire in her pink eye, she called out to the darkness.
“Who's there? Show yourself!”
Taking a deep breath you stepped forward into the candlelight. With your hands raised and a relaxed but cautious demeanor, you made your way over to her.
“Hey sweets,” you said softly your hands raised above your head. You have her a sad soft smile. Her eyes widened and her brow furrowed.
“W-what are you doing here?” she asked softly breathing heavily. You calmly walk over to her, she tenses up and tucks her arms closer to her body. You lower your hands in a hugging gesture. She stares at you with confusion and fear, tears welling up in her eyes. She turns her head slightly and shuts her eye tightly.
“No! Stop it!” she hits herself against the head again. “I said SHUT UP! SHUT UP!” she yelled. She starts to turn and twist away violently screaming out to nothing.
You step forward again and lightly cup her cheeks. She flinches slightly and opens her eyes to you. You smile softly and apologetically at her. She looks over to Vi then to Silco. She then looks over to Caitlyn, rage forms in her eyes again but you pull her close and press her head against your chest. Her lip quivers and the tears now fall freely onto your clothes. She lets out a wailing sob and drops the gun. It clatters against the floor and the room falls silent. She stops moving.
“It’s going to be ok, I'm here, I'm here,” you say to her. “I'm not going to leave you.” Silco’s voice speaks from behind her,
“Jinx untie me, and let's finish this.”
She looks up and tries to turn over to him but you stop her. She looks back at you confusingly. You shake your head no. “He's trying to get into your head, just focus on me.”
You hear the clicking of the Gatling gun starting and Caitlyn’s voice shouts from behind you.
“(Y/n) get out out of the way! I'm ending this!” she shouts.
“Caitlyn no! You can’t she's my sister!” Vi shouts back, trying to undo her restraints. Jinx’s head shoots up her eyes wild like a feral animal and she starts to reach for the gun on the floor.
“Hey hey hey hey.” you softly say, all the while she's trying to free herself from your grip. She's starts shouting and jumping up and down.
“What the fuck are you doing? WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING (Y/N)!” she snarls
“Jinx, please stop just focus on me ok?!” you turn towards Caitlyn. “Stay away from her! Back off Caitlyn! I've got this!” as soon as you turn her back Jinx removes herself from your grip and in a flash grabs the gun. You step back in front of her and grab her arms to prevent her from shooting Caitlyn. You push against her and you two start to move towards Silco. Once you reach his side he jets out his leg. You trip and both collide into the table and onto the ground. Jinx gets up first and then grabs you, putting you into a headlock and slamming you down onto the table with her newfound strength.
She then points the gun down at you.
“What the fuck are you doing to me (Y/N)?” She yells. You raise your hands out above your head and tears start to form in your eyes.
“J-just put the gun down, ok sweets? we can leave but I need you to focus ok, just focus on me, please?” you said your voice wavering. The Gatling gun starts up once more and Caitlyn yells out.
“Drop the gun!”
Vi scrambles to undo her ropes and pleads with Caitlyn. “Caitlyn no!”
Caitlyn's anger falters a bit. “I’m sorry Vi, but she's too far gone.” Jinx lets go of you and giggles a little while raising her arms up and laying the gun onto the table. Once you hit the ground you grab the gun and scramble to get in front of Jinx.
“Caitlyn stop! Please, put it down,” you shout as you get into the line of fire. She looks over at you and glares. Then she looks over at Vi and Vi shakes her head pleading with her to drop it once more. Caitlyn looks back over to Jinx who puts on an innocent child expression which in turn morphs into a sinister grin. Before anyone can react Jinx is suddenly in front of Caitlyn and knocks her to the ground with the Gatling gun.
“Look out!” Vi yells a little too late to warn her. Caitlyn hits the ground and lies still unconscious. Jinx steps over to her and picks up the gun and aims it at her. Silco’s voice rings out again,
“You see, now finish it.” jimx smiles. You rush over and crawl on top of Caitlyn shielding her and look at Jinx with pleasing eyes.
“Get out of the way (Y/N)!” She screams.
“No.”
“I have to finish this! This is the only way things can be right! I have to do this! Now get out of my way!” she shouts.
“I can’t let you do that if you are going to kill her, then you have to kill me too.” she stares back at you scared and confused. “Or, we can drop the guns and you and I can leave, just the two of us, no one to tell us what to do, get in our way. Nothing. No more voices, I promise.” you say.
She stands still not taking her eyes off of you in the slightest. You drop your gun and walk closer to her. “You are not what they say you are. I know you, Jinx. Don't be what they made you.” she looks back at you and lowers the gun. She drops it to the ground and breaks down in sobs. You pick her up and start to lead her outside. In the process of passing Vi’s chair, you take to put a knife and drop it in her hands.
“Jayce has been informed that Silco is here, you should leave when you can,” you tell her. You carry Jinx out and as you two are headed off in the night sky, she looks towards Vi and mouths the words “I'm sorry.”
(I apologize if this seems rushed but this is how I wish things turned out rather than Jinx suffering so much in the show and her becoming the villain. I just hope she has a redemption arc somehow If possible. Anyway thank you for reading and I hoped you enjoyed :)

Cupcakes deserve a brake
by Cattara123
Somewhat modern Au with mentions of hextec
Caitlyn is stuck out of the office, leaving her house the Office, nothing can go wrong right. well that is until a certain Pink haired girl comes down into the kitchen feeling a little playful.
“One moment." Caitlyn smiled down at her screen, before turning her mic and camera off, the small soon being replaced with an annoyed tone and look on her face.
“What are you doing?!” She hissed at the girl, now on the other side of the table, seeing her enjoying this game she was playing.
Vi only smirked, sipping her coffee and watching the way Caitlyn’s gaze soften slightly, causing Vi to bite her lip. “So, you are enjoying the view then cupcake?"
