Staying at the compound for the Meyerist Movement was not part of my plan. I don't know if it ever would have been.

But here I was, walking along the grounds like I had been there forever. I had gotten comfortable there. Very comfortable.

It was late. Most people were either already asleep or getting ready to be. I couldn't sleep. I wanted to be able to look around the compound without anyone interrupting me.

I must've gotten lost in thought.

I couldn't remember walking into the chapel. I just kind of found myself there.

It looked weirder in the dark without anyone there.

"(Y/n)?"

I looked to the door, immediately recognizing whose voice it was.

"Cal," I grinned at him.

He had been the one to find me. He led me to the compound when I needed a safe place. I had kind of latched onto him. He was the first person that I had started to trust. The only person that I felt like I could rely on.

"Am I... Am I not supposed to be in here," I asked, pointing around.

"No, no, you're fine."

I nodded.

"Did you need something," he offered. "Time alone or... anything, really?"

I shook my head. "I've gotten so used to following everyone around constantly. I wanted to see the compound without the crowd. Not that I don't like the people here. I just get a bit overwhelmed."

He grinned. "It's okay."

I went back to looking around the building.

"You've been here for a while," he noted. I nodded, not looking at him. "Have you reached out to your family? At all?"

I felt a wave of nervousness roll through me. "I... Can we talk about something else?"

"Why?"

"It's just not important," I shrugged. "This building is lovely."

"(Y/n)."

"Cal," I mimicked his stern tone as I looked back at him.

He started walking over to me. "You have been here for a while yet have disclosed none of your past. I would like to know you."

I paused for a moment, contemplating my choices. I could tell him everything and deal with the consequences. Or I could deny it and try to move on without ever thinking about my life before the movement.

That would be much easier.

"You don't actually want to talk about that," I shook my head. "It doesn't matter. I'm here now."

"I wouldn't ask if I didn't find it important."

I stepped forward, reaching out to touch his sides. "I've done everything you've asked of me. Listened to every word and completed every task. I did that for you."

Cal tensed but he didn't move away from me. I leaned over, speaking directly into his ear.

"Is that not enough," I whispered.

It was just meant to be a distraction. Hoping for a lapse in his self-control so I can avoid this conversation for a little bit longer.

"I thought you did those things for your faith," he said. I leaned back, disappointed that my plan didn't actually work.

"Not at first," I confessed. I stepped back, going to sit on the edge of his little stage. "You were my main motivation. You were the one that found me. That brought me here. Are you surprised that I wanted to do whatever it took for you to not leave me?"

He tilted his head a bit at me. Something clicked in his mind. I could see it.

"You were... you are all that I want," I continued. "I would do almost anything you asked of me."

I watched him step toward me.

I looked away from him as he got closer.

He reached out and cupped the side of my face, turning me back to look up at him. I wanted to hide again. His eyes were looking right through me. Like he could read every last thought without me saying anything.

"I have an offer for you," he said. "If you'll hear it."

I nodded. Of course, I would.

He took a knee in front of me. His hand remained on the side of my face. I had to fight the urge to lean into his touch.

"Answer my questions," he explained. "And I'll be sure that you get what you want."

I furrowed my eyebrows. He leaned over and pressed a kiss to my cheek. It clicked. Him.

He leaned back, grinning at me. "Is that okay?"

I nodded before the logical side of my brain could talk me out of it. All I had been craving for months, years even, was affection. True affection. Cal was the first person I had actually tied to that need. He was offering me that on a silver platter.

"Why did you stay," he asked.

"Um, well," I let out a breath. "I didn't have anywhere to go."

His hands moved to hold mine. "No one to go find?"

"No one worth my time," I muttered. "Don't talk to my family very much."

I very distinctly remember not wanting to talk about this. Cal nodded, pressing a kiss to my knuckles. I watched him closely. I had never been so nervous around someone. The only reason my leg wasn't shaking was that I was scared that I was going to knee him in the face by accident.

He leaned back enough to look at me properly. "Why?"

I hesitated for a moment. My mouth opened and closed a few times.

"(Y/n)," Cal pushed.

"We didn't click," I explained as best I could. "I wanted to be able to feel my emotions truly. Cry when I needed to cry. Yell when I needed to yell. They wanted a child that was a robot. Kicked me out due to my 'outbursts'."

I had gotten so used to locking all of that off. Not telling anyone. It was too much. It either overwhelmed them or they thought I was overdramatic.

Cal's jaw clenched for a moment. I don't know why, but I assumed he was upset at me. I looked down, waiting for him to snap at me or yank his hands away or something.

He didn't.

He leaned over and pressed a kiss to my cheek. He paused there for a few moments. I could feel my face warming up as he did.

I didn't let him get far when he tried to lean back.

I leaned forward, pressing my lips to his properly for the first time. My hands moved to grab onto the fabric of his shirt. There were tears rolling down my face. I could feel them. I didn't want to answer any more questions.

Cal didn't seem to want any more answers. His hand cupped the side of my face.

He leaned back a few moments later. He used his thumb to wipe away the tears that were falling.

"Are you okay," he asked.

I nodded, "Yeah. Yeah. It wasn't you."

"You're sure?"

"Yeah," I looked down at my hand still grabbing his shirt. "I am completely sure."

I pulled him back into another kiss. I accepted that this was the best place for me. This was home. With Cal was home.

The strong presence of the sea is grossly under-examined in American literature, doubly so in African American literature. As Elizabeth Schultz observes, "Historically and culturally, the African American experience has been an inland one. Black Americans," she continues, "have not generally turned seaward in their literature." Although she comes to a "however" that adds the observation "the sea is not absent from African American literature," the rhetorical pose imagined in the claim that "the sea is not absent" is that it will take a good deal of searching to find it. And yet, as Jeffery Bolster observes in his ground-breaking 1997 study Black Jacks, "Sailors wrote the first six autobiographies of blacks published in English before 1800". Many of these autobiographies carry clear abolitionist intent and hint at the type of anti-slavery discussions carried on by sailors around the Atlantic world. When scholars of African American literature turn their attention to works written by sailors, like Olaudah Equiano's The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavas Vassa, the African. Written by Himself (1789), most suffer from the misplaced assumption Schultz points to, and thus fail to see the crucial link between sailors and black abolitionism. Indeed, what Crispus Attucks, Paul Cuffee, Robert Smalls, Frederick Douglass, and so many other black revolutionaries in America have in common is that they were all sailors or in some other way directly connected to the maritime trades.

Meggy sweetie!!!! I literally cannot thank you enough for that, I was kicking my feet and squealing like a little girl when I read the response (lol).

I know I don't have to apologize for this but it's a really sudden thought/thot that had me cackling like a witch on Halloween night (lol).

It's a busy, busy day on campus, midterms are fast approaching and you and Cal have been grading papers all week before Christmas break, some of your fellow professors and teaching assistants have absolutely had it with the higher-up admins (you and Cal normally don't have angry hate-sex at the end of the day but some pretentious dickhead in the finance department had pissed him off in all the right ways that you were hobbling a little to class the next day, lol).

You're giving a demonstration to your girls on how to properly test for liver diseases and how to draw blood. Six-Thirty's just minding his own business when you suddenly hear him whining and getting anxious, one of your girls is trying to calm him down when all of a sudden there's a big *BOOM!* coming from the chemistry lab. You and the girls are scared shitless but relieved when you see Calvin and the other students throwing the door open to let out a thick cloud of smoke and demanding for somebody to "open the fucking windows". And when the smell hits you? Not a single soul in that hallway can stop gagging, it's that bad (Dr. Powers didn't hold back and told you that it smelled of rotten eggs and cheese farts, lol).

At lunch you're trying to get the story straight from Calvin even though he stinks really, really bad (to the point where poor Six-Thirty doesn't wanna go within ten feet of him and instead hides under the lunch table in the cafeteria). He tells you that one of the students had accidentally mixed two very, VERY smelly chemicals together in a beaker and upon realizing his mistake, tossed it into a plastic bucket where it exploded.

"Wait.......he made what again?" you ask, trying not to laugh.

"A military grade.......stink bomb," Calvin answers.

You're laughing your ass off because it's just something so ridiculous but is to be expected in a lab like that, especially when your husband is involved. You guys don't think anything of it until Dr. Powers comes to you later that day, hands your husband the phone and tells him that Robert McNamara, the Secretary of Defense himself, wants to speak to Calvin personally (lol).

And that's the story of how not only Calvin and said student managed to patent a military grade stink bomb but also of how the college was later given a ten million dollar research grant (lol).

*BONUS*

After Cal promptly showered in the lab, you, him and Six-Thirty headed for home where his adopted father had been watching your four month old daughter. He's cursing up a storm too when the lingering stink hits him and Cal has to explain the whole damn thing again (lol).

~ oof angry hate sex with Calvin?! sign me up pleaseee😵‍💫 just imagining him railing the living daylights out of you, telling you to “take it like a good girl,” & the occasional “you like that baby huh? like it when i’m rough with you? you’re doing so good for me. taking it like a real champ.”🫠 literally sweating at the thought of this & at you coming into class the next day, your legs feeling like jelly & your students giving you strange looks, wondering why you’re walking so funny.

~ this whole part made me laugh out loud! just the thought of a little “explosion” unexpectedly happening in the chemistry lab, with none other than your husband Calvin coming out from the scene in a cloud of smoke & everyone around him gagging because of the smell alone is absolutely sending me😂 & poor six-thirty can’t even be in the same vicinity as his daddy🥹 that’s how you know it’s BAD bad hahaha!

~ oh nooo! not his poor father having to deal with the aftermaths of the stink bomb too! everyone is paying the price for Calvins students’ little oopsie in the lab ! 😅 i just know that when you’d bring up this little story to friends or family when Calvin’s present he’d initially get all flushed in embarrassment. him being very serious about his experiments & not liking the idea of a mishap occurring in the lab especially during school. but mistakes do happen & he would soon realize how funny it actually is & would end up having a laugh about it too.

Night at The Museum (Sundove88’s Version) Casting

This is a Birthday present for @thehyperrequiem! Happy B Day!

Dreamer Joe Puddy thinks he's destined for something big but his imaginative ideas never pay off and in desperate need of a job, he accepts to be a security guard at the Natural History Museum. During his watch, Joe makes a startling discovery. Thanks to the unleashing of an Egyptian curse, the museum's characters spring to life after the building closes. Joe must find a way to save the chaotic situation.

Once the night guard at the Museum of Natural History, Joe Puddy is now a successful purveyor of infomercial products. Soon after learning that his museum friends have been shipped to the Smithsonian Institution, Joe receives a distress call from Arthur Morgan, who warns him that four of history's greatest villains have come to life and are planning to take over the Smithsonian first, then the world. Joe joins forces with friends old and new to stop the quartet's nefarious plans.

When the exhibits at New York's Natural History Museum start behaving strangely, Joe Puddy -- now the director of nighttime operations -- must find out the cause. Happy Birthday actress Lindsay Duncan born in Edinburgh November 7th 1950.

Lindsay’s father had served in the army for 21 years before becoming a civil servant. Her parents moved to Leeds while she was still a child.

After studying drama in London she began working on Eighties TV productions such as Dead Head and Traffik.

She was awarded a Laurence Olivier award for best actress in a new play in 1987 for her portrayal as La Marquise de Merteuil in an RSC production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses, and from there her career went from strength to strength.

My favourite roles from Lindsay are playing the girlfriend in the excellent ITV series Travelling man opposite Leigh Lawson, and the bitchy Barbara Douglas in Alan Bleasdale’s GBH. In 2009 Lindsay played Margaret Thatcher in the BBC feature length drama Margaret, at the time she commented about the former prime minister that she loathed everything the former Thatcher stood for.

Other TV appearances included, A year in Provence, Reilly, Ace of Spies, Spooks, Doctor Who and more recently Churchill’s Secret, all quality dramas. Her only role I know of with a Scottish accent was the 2003 film Afterlife which also starred Kevin McKidd and Isla Blair.

Fans of Benedict Cumberbatch in Sherlock might remember her as Lady Smallwood, she was also in the recent series A Discovery of Witches on Sky in 2018, appearing in 5 of the 8 episodes.

Lindsay cut her teeth in theatre and has always supported this genre with stage roles all through her career as well as starring in several films ranging from Star Wars: Episode I to Mansfield Park. Her latest roles have been in Inside No. 9,, a British black comedy anthology TV show and in the film A Banquet, a British horror film directed by Scottish filmmaker and writer Ruth Paxton

Next up for Lindsay is Doctor Jekyll, yet another re-imagining of the infamous Dr. Jekyll from Robert Louis Stevenson's 1886 novella The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Eddie Izzard has been cast as Jekyll. She has recently been touring theatres in The Dance of Death.

Lindsay is married to fellow Scottish actor Hilton McRae, and the couple have a son, Cal, born in 1991.

I suspected that our recent decline in attendance was due to "Colds & Flu", and apparently I am correct. A few have recently tested + for a Covid variant even though they have had the initial protective jabs and every subsequent booster advertised in the Phizer ads on TV. I don't know what to tell you, except if you don't feel like working out, JUST DON'T (a Presidential quote). I don't feel so good myself. I do wish some of you wouldn't hawk loogies and do that single-nostril-snot-rocket anywhere near the Barn. Especially not in the pine-straw. That's a Boy-Thing...Girls don't do that. I can't imagine the Lady-Like Mrs. Rousseau blowing a single-nostril-snot-rocket.

Several of you commented on the accuracy of the Thursday blog description of our own Dr Lipson at the wine and snack tasting. I hope he was pleased by the attention.

A very sweet Miss Faith(The Kid) continues to amaze all who notice her efforts at the Barn. She always gives every workout a thoroughly good effort. Her favorite coach was absent today, so Mom had to fill in and they both are fun to watch.

Title: Three Things

Pairing: Cal Roberts X Reader

Summary: (Y/n) gets hit with a wave of anxiety with very little warning. They aren't alone in that.

Author's Note: Listen. I just like writing for him. It's very enjoyable... even though this show is very intense.

I wish I knew how it had started.

One minute, I was listening to Eddie tell his story to a group. The next, I felt like my brain was going a million miles an hour. My breathing sped up. My leg started shaking. My chest suddenly felt kind of tight. I tried to look around subtly, hoping no one had noticed.

I caught Cal tilting his head at me. I tried to ignore it and focus on Eddie's story, but I couldn't. I just felt lost and stuck and terrified.

I jumped a little when a hand touched my back. I looked over to see Cal next to me.

"Sorry," he mumbled. "Come with me, okay?"

I nodded and let him guide me away from the crowd and to his little building. I sat on his couch.

All sense of self-control went out the window. I felt myself starting to move closer and closer to completely falling apart.

"(Y/n)," Cal knelt in front of me, carefully grabbing my hands. "I know it's hard right now, but I need you to listen to me, okay?"

I nodded.

"Good. Can you do me a favor and name three things you see," he asked.

I slowly looked around from him, "I... I see the Movement sign... and the white couch... and your desk."

"Good, good," he nodded. "Three things you can hear."

"You," I said immediately. He chuckled but tried to cover it up. "I can hear muffled voices outside... and your bathroom faucet is dripping."

"Good. One last thing. Move three parts of your body. One at a time."

I tilted my head from one side to the other, letting my neck pop. I picked up my foot, rotating my ankle. I repeated the motion with my other foot. Finally, I squeezed Cal's hands.

"Alright, good," he said. "I'm going to grab you some water. I'll be right back."

"D-Don't," I held onto his hands tighter. "P-Please."

"Okay," he nodded, settling back on the floor. "Okay. I won't go. I'm right here."

I pulled his hands into my lap and leaned forward. I rested my forehead against his knuckles. He didn't say anything or try to move. He just sat there quietly.

After a while, I looked up at Cal again. My breathing had evened out and my muscles stopped tensing. I felt like my thoughts had sorted themselves.

"I'm sorry," I said, sitting up fully and releasing his hands. If I didn't know better, I'd say he looked disappointed.

"Nothing to apologize for," he replied.

"No, Eddie was in the middle of his story and I took the attention and I'm so sorry and I need to go apologize to him-"

"Hey, hey, hey," Cal grabbed my upper arms and stopped me from moving. "You don't have anything to do except let things settle and calm down. Nothing needs to be done right now. You're safe here."

I nodded, starting to pop my knuckles in the hopes of calming down. I rang out my hands.

"Do you have any idea what caused it?"

I shook my head and closed my eyes, "It just happened. I didn't know how to stop it or what to do. I was just... lost. Lost and scared and-"

"Okay," Cal moved to sit next to me on the couch, pulling me into his side. "You don't need to explain."

I rested my head on his shoulder, sighing at the feeling of his hand running up and down my arm. I reached up and wiped my cheeks. I barely noticed I was crying earlier, but now it felt like my entire face was covered. I must've looked like a child throwing a tantrum.

"Want some tea," Cal asked after a moment.

I shook my head.

"Water?"

Again, I shook my head.

"Food?"

No.

"Want to lay down?"

I paused.

I felt like shit. I wanted to lay down, but I wasn't ready to walk back out in front of everyone. I didn't want to deal with the questions and the mumbling.

"(Y/n)," Cal muttered. "Would you like to lay down?"

"I don't... I don't want to go..."

"I meant here."

"Oh," I mumbled. "Okay."

He nodded before guiding me to stand up. I let him guide me to his room and pull back the blanket for me. I curled up and grinned at him. He covered me with the blanket and grinned back.

"Thank you," I said quietly. "For everything."

"Of course."

He leaned down at kissed my temple. I felt my face warming up a bit.

"I'll just be in the main room if you need anything. Anything at all."

I nodded.

"Get some rest."

After that, I don't remember much. I really just fell asleep for a while. I could hear Cal moving around in the next room. It was almost comforting. It was like it helped lull me to sleep. My tired brain didn't question it.

I woke up when the door squeaked open.

I sat up, running my hands over my eyes as I tuned back into the world around me.

"Hey, I just wanted to check on (Y/n)," I heard Eddie outside. "I saw you two head this way."

I stood up before slipping on my shoes and walking toward the doorway.

"They just fell asleep," Cal explained.

"Oh, okay, they're alright though," Eddie asked.

"I think so," Cal replied. "I'll send them your way when they get up."

"Thanks, I just want them to know that I'm not upset or anything. No one is."

"They'll appreciate that."

"Thanks, Cal."

There wasn't a response, but I heard the door shut. I rounded the corner just as Cal turned around. He grinned at me.

"Hey," he said.

"Hey," I muttered. "How long was I asleep?"

"Not long," he shrugged. "How are you feeling?"

"Better," I nodded. "Thank you. You have been far too kind to me."

"Well, that's just not true," he chuckled. "And you're welcome."

We both paused for a moment.

"Did you hear Eddie?"

"Yeah, I should probably go catch up with him," I said. "Thank you, yet again, this has been very nice."

He just nodded at me.

I went around him to head out but stopped at the door. I turned around and stepped back toward him. Before he could ask any questions, I leaned in and kissed his cheek.

I almost didn't catch the way he looked at the floor as I turned around and headed out of the room.

My first three Property acquisitions in San Francisco, came after I had sold several buildings in Los Angeles. I hated hearing that my own sisters could not enjoy the City because of the high rents. So I decided to sell some of my best properties in Los Angeles, so I could buy some in San Francisco where my siblings and I could happily live in.All my buildings are my favorites. But, specifically 1000 Filbert Street, San Francisco, (1000 Filbert St — Google Maps), I acquired it for a price of $3,100,000 in August 2013. I borrowed from a Sterling Bank 65% of the purchase price and put down my own money for a sum of $1,000,000. This means I had a loan of $2.1 million dollars. When any property owner borrows from a Bank, they enter into a Loan Agreement — which is comprised of a mortgage contract and another agreement to create a Security Agreement — in which the borrower agrees that the property title will be held in a Trust, until it the loan is paid in full, at which time the bank reconveys the Title Deed. As part of the Mortgage Contract, the parties agree to certain conditions, for example, that the Bank can seek control of the property to dispose of it in event you ever fail to make your monthly mortgage payments. In my case, I had NEVER missed a single payment to my lender. In fact, the payments were automatically drawn from my bank account as I gave the bank authorization to take the payments each 10 th of the month. I NEVER had any issues with the lender. Sometime in 2015, Sterling Bank was acquired by another bank — UMPQUA Bank from Portland, Oregon. By this time, I had a total of 10 loans with Sterling which I had enjoyed an immensely great relationship with. Imagine — NEVER having missed any mortgage payment, that Umpqua Bank, represented by greedy attorneys, came to Court and misrepresented the law to the Court. Most judges rely on the attorneys to properly inform them of the law, and the attorneys can be punished for misrepresenting the law. However, this has NOT happened and dirty lawyers, like Robert Kaplan of Jeffer Mengel —https://www.jmbm.com/robert-b-kaplan.html has been breaking the laws just to bring in fees for his company. It should be a big deal to throw away a sale without permission of someone’s property. But this is clouded in formalities. [Another article to see how the attorneys made over $1.3 million in fees by misleading the judge and how he hopes to get away with violation of CalBar Rule 3.3A.] Property Laws are so important that the legislature has created very solid laws to protect property rights. The most important area of law is summarized by the Supreme Court statement: “In California, as in most states, a creditor#39;s right to enforce a debt secured by a mortgage or deed of trust on real property is restricted by statute” — Supreme Court Walker v. Community Bank, 10 Cal.3d 729, 733–34 (Cal. 1974) If any bank has a claim against its borrower, and seeks to enforce that debt, it must slavishly adhere to the laws.
