Just me nitpicking again, but I don't like how they changed Thalia being killed by cyclops for her being killed by furies. First because it seemingly reduces the bestiary of the world. Secondly because it only seems to be there to create quick one scene drama and tension between Annabeth and Alecto, only for the latter to die by the end of the episode. And thirdly...what about Tyson ? What about Annabeth's racism ? Do they really not plan on making a season 2? Or do they plan on removing this part of her arc? I mean sure, it would make sense with the change of her ethnicity, but then I really hope they remove it entirely cause I'm not sure it'll be better to have Annabeth hating on Tyson without the trauma "explaining it".

Leah Jeffries is playing Annabeth like she's one thousand years old in the body of a twelve-year-old and she is so correct.

Something I think about a lot is how Rick Riordan very rarely uses "girlfriend/boyfriend" to refer to Percy and Annabeth within their perspectives. They're so intertwined, even Annabeth says in hoh that the word boyfriend isn't strong enough, because Percy was a part of her. They are a singular soul, too wrapped around each others' fates that regular labels are far too weak for them. But, Rick Riordan uses "boyfriend" a lot in Nico and Wills perspectives, not because they love each other less than percabeth, but to show how much the word means to them. Nico uses it any chance he gets- "his boyfriend," "he actually had a boyfriend," because Nico has never been able to say that before. Their struggle with their queer identities mixed with Nico's catholic guilt and chronic everyone-hates-me disease makes the fact that he has someone to call his actual boyfriend so much more important to his character development.

The mischaracterization of people from PJO is so funny, but ESPECIALLY from HOO onward like.
“Hazel’s such an innocent little angel. She’s always nice and kind and confused.”
Hazel, who’s always ready to fight in the same way Percy is? Hazel, who made it explicitly clear she probably would’ve rocked Octavian’s shit had he not been blackmailing her? Who gets so angry on behalf of the people she loves, to the point where she doesn’t forgive those who have wronged them? Who Percy described as cursing up a storm in one of their first interactions? Who’s been shown time and time again to be FAST to anger? That Hazel?
Or Nico, who’s “a misunderstood emo. A small bean. Cute like a wet cat and innocent like a bunny.”
Nico, who’s cannonically described by most characters as “scary and unnerving?” Nico, who, for a long time, is one of the angriest characters in the series? Who’s only sassy and sarcastic because it took him FOUR YEARS to mellow out? Who’s described as being one of the most powerful demigods, who a lot of people still consider the scariest? Who’s come into his own as a character from TTC to TSATS? That Nico?
Or Annabeth who’s, “cold and calculating. Doesn’t show emotion or express herself”
Annabeth, who’s the most expressive person in the series? Who cries in EVERY book in the OG series? Whether it be for Luke, or Thalia, or Percy, or Chiron, or a literal DOG? Who expresses passion like no other when it comes to architecture and her other interests? Who’s expressed compassion for people she didn’t know? People who at times posed a threat to her? Who isn’t afraid to be angry, or happy, or snide, or rude, or excited, or scared, or ecstatic? Who’s been unapologetically herself since the moment the series started? That’s who doesn’t show emotion? That’s Annabeth?

Guys just imagine being a side character, you're walking around normally on a beautiful sunny day, you hear rumours from the other campers about this newbie kid that killed the minotaur barehanded, later on you hear about this very kid beating Clarisse, the biggo bully and now you're kinda intrigued.
Nonetheless next day you're playing capture the flag as normal and suddenly find yourself just kneeling before that kid that turned to be one of the big three kids then you proceed with your day.
Next morning, weirdo kid just straight up leads a quest, like the boy just got here and he's already making himself a reputation while some old ones are still not even claimed. Anyways the kid is accompanied by that tiny counselor of the Athena cabin (you know, that one kinda creepy child that stalks newbies around but you can't object because you don't want problems with the camp's best swordsman, yeah that's kid) and you're kinda shocked because those athenians are all about blah blah blah Athena did and blah blah blah we hate Poseidon.
Also that young satyr goes along, and you think oh weird then you continue with your day.
Fast forward a week later, they return, they are all friends now?? That fucking child just met Zeus?? He freaking whipped Ares' ass??? He got Hades' favor and got his mom back??? papa titan is back too??? Wait what LUKE IS EVIL NOW WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK???
And fast forward a year later, the Athena child just planted a kiss on the Poseidon kid's cheek and now you're invested in this reality show and you ship these kids together.

I mean the cyclops were still after Luke Thalia and Annabeth while they were in the city, they might still get attacked and Annabeth may still resent cyclops/ be afraid of them. Also Rick himself has said multiple times that he now realised how problematic the whole Tyson arc was in SoM, so they might change it to be less ableist (don't know where the racism came from when it was obviously more ableist, they even use the r-slur in the books). Also Annabeth doesn't have to be traumatised to not like cyclops because she doesn't trust monsters anyway (as we saw with Medusa and Alecto)
I mean, yes and no. The cyclops are not the ones killing her, it changes a whole lot of things to me. Alecto is gone by the end of the episode, so that's done with. You say Annabeth doesn't trust monsters in general, and yes, but you use Medusa and Alecto as examples...two monsters who she specifically has bias toward because of history with her or her mother. You can't deny it'll be less powerful if she just mistrusts him because he's a monster and not because he's from the race of monsters who took her sister figure from her.
I'm interested to see how Rick turns Tyson's story though. Because I kind of disagree on it being problematic. Because everyone being suspicious of him and mean to him was clearly in the wrong. For me I think it was about both ableism and racism. Because demigods, and especially Annabeth, don't trust Tyson because of how different he is as a person (which had this whole double meaning of "different" kids looking down on basically one of them) but they also distrust him because of his race. Annabeth is annoyed by Tyson's seemingly being slow and dumb, but at her core she hates him for being a cyclop.
Maybe they want to get rid of this part, especially coming from Annabeth, but will keep the ableism. Maybe they'll put it all on Clarisse (which wouldn't be the best I think cause every kid needs to unlearn their bias and intolerance, not just the big meany bullies). But I think it'd be a really really bad idea to just do a 180° with the Annabeth/Tyson relationship because it brought one of the most important messages of the saga : tolerance and camaraderie.

i need to stop being reminded that the seven are canonically very awkward around each other and hardly talk at all.
let me live in my sunshine rainbow world where they're all friends, are each other's 'found family,' where hazel, piper, and annabeth are best friends, where leo, jason, frank, and percy are like brothers, where jason and piper never existed, where hazel and piper were actually friends (that they should've been), and leo and percy are the most sarcastic and funny people you've ever met (and they make each other even funnier)!!!!!
