how is your chia pet bushel going?
Tumblr media
Well… at first I have to admit I was a little scared of him… but since moving him to my bedroom I’ve been enjoying having some more company around. I’ve named my Bushel ‘Anchovy’ (I tried to stick with the Bushels’ ‘traditional’ naming convention… in hindsight maybe I should have chosen an orange pizza topping…) and have been having a lot of fun giving him new hairdos whenever his leaves start to grow too long and cover his eyes! I’m particularly keen on styling him to resemble myself. I once used him to hold a spare pair of glasses, and then realised I could accessorise him to look like another glorious Dirk statue. Although, the more I look at him the more I think he resembles an allay… I think he’ll fit into my family well. I’m hoping to take down some more Bushels so that I can grow him some siblings, then once they grow up I can have a magnificent army of plants that worship me instead of Siri. Hopefully Anchovy will grow up to be a bit less… strange… than the other Bushels though, luckily he has me to guide him onto the right path AND provide him free entertainment!

What is Douyin Makeup? A Guide to Trends, Looks, and Products
If you’re curious about how long a makeup trend will last, just check out TikTok! Some makeup trends are only popular for a short time, but others are more long-lasting. Douyin makeup is one of those long-lasting trends that you might have seen on your TikTok “For You” page. It’s so popular that the hashtag has over 1.3 million views on TikTok.
Makeup artist Lewis Chia has made several Douyin makeup videos that have gone viral. He loves how Douyin makeup enhances your natural features while still letting them shine through.
Another makeup artist, Taylour Chanel, thinks Douyin makeup is great because it’s soft and gentle, which is different from the edgy, cool makeup trends we’ve seen recently. Chanel says that Douyin Makeup is answering a call that people are looking for in the beauty world right now.
What Is Douyin Makeup?
Tumblr media
Douyin makeup is a trendy makeup style from China that’s becoming more popular in other parts of the world, especially thanks to TikTok. The look is all about a natural, glowing complexion and uses shimmery eyeshadow, pink blush, and soft lips.
Some people have been confusing Douyin makeup with Korean beauty, but it’s important to remember that they’re different styles from different cultures. Douyin makeup was created by Chinese makeup influencers and emphasizes glittery eyeshadow and dramatic lashes, while Korean beauty uses a more minimal eye look.
Even though it’s a traditional East Asian look, people around the world are starting to take inspiration from Douyin makeup and make it their own. Makeup creator Kamille Gregory was curious to see how the style would look on her, and now she loves it too!
How To Do Douyin Makeup Step By Step?

Daily Check-in - July 25, 2023 🎀
Today was a rough day. I had to stay later at work so I didn't get home when I wanted. My roommates ended up making dinner and I over ate a bit because I had not eaten for about 8 hours prior. I'm also completely exhausted so I didn't do my night routine. I did prep myself for tomorrow morning so I have my workout to look forward to!
🩷 What I Ate Today:
Breakfast - A two good anilla Greek yogurt bowl with granola, peanut butter, chia seeds, and a sliced banana, and a cup of coffee.
Lunch - A salad topped with sliced bits of sharp cheddar cheese, chopped carrots, and tuna mixed with avocado oil mayo and two grapes that a coworker gave me.
Dinner - Two servings of homemade Spanish rice, and one burrito with ground beef, shredded cheese, homemade refried beans, sour cream, and salsa.
Snacks - Bowl of watermelon and one babybel cheese.
Other - One cup of coffee with French vanilla creamer, one bottle of water with a dissolved electrolyte tablet
Water : 65oz water not bad but could've definitely been better
🩷 Workout - Lower Body Pilates
Tumblr media
I only did this one this morning as I did not sleep well last night but still woke up early to get some movement in. I absolutely loved this workout, though the glute bridge parts hurt my lower back a bit, so I need to work on my form. Wish it was 20 minutes fully, tho. Overall, 9.4/10
🩷 Habits I completed today:
Morning guided journal
Made my bed
Morning skincare
Workout
Didn't accomplish much today but tomorrow will definitely be better! I'm also super excited for tomorrow because one of my Yesstyle skincare packages that I ordered weeks ago is finally going to be delivered tomorrow!
🩷 Song of the Day: Rich Girl by Gwen Stefani, Eve
I'm trying to manifest some more financial stability and cash income so this song has definitely been a repeat in my playlist. I've also been listing to Money by Lalisa and 7 rings by Ariana Grande because I could use the increase cash flow coming my way.
That's all for today! I'm so sorry if this seems rushed, I am exhausted and litteraly going to fall asleep after I post this. I'll see you guys tomorrow!

[image description:  A portrait of a space princess with growing green plants for hair and radiant - almost hallucinatory - lines and swirls behind her. And that’s not even mentioning the small moon, the stars or the trippy lettering, all rendered in an outlined style reminiscent of Yellow Submarine or Peter Max. Text reads, “207, Princess Chia, 'the small god’ (is taped over the words ’The Spirit' of ‘76”]
• • • • •
Hey, man.  Far out, right?  Outta this world.  Most people met her later than ’76, but ’76 was when she was first believed into being, by hair and makeup and central casting, all bringing her to incarnation on the bright-eyed face of a twenty-year-old girl who had no idea that she was flirting with the divine (in more ways than one, as Carrie herself has since ascended to serve as the small god of Rebellion).  So many decisions were made in ’76, decisions that would come to shake the world, but that seemed, in the moment, as things of little consequence, as little consequence as the filming of a two-bit science fiction film, destined to fail and be forgotten.
But they didn’t fail.  They weren’t forgotten.  They flew.  And when they flew, she flew with them, bright and young and innocent and flawed and perfect.  She inspired generations to reach farther, stand taller, rebel, blossom, and grow.  And she did it all with 1976 brushed across her cheeks and shining in her eyes.  A moment can extend beyond its place on the calendar, but it can never truly leave that place behind: it will always know where it came from.  She will always know where she came from.
And if we’re good, if we’re very, very good, if we’re bright-eyed and earnest and willing to fly, she may be there to gather us close, to tell us to protect our shining starlight hearts, to keep the spark of ’76 burning deep within our breasts, to help us take off so fast and so fiercely that we’re halfway into orbit before anyone knows we’re gone.
She’s a nebulous god.  Her faithful love her all the same, and given time, she will lead every one of them home.
Believe her.

What is the Alkaline Diet? A Complete Guide for Beginners
Tumblr media
The Alkaline Diet: A Healthy Eating Plan for Optimal Wellness
The alkaline diet has become an increasingly popular way of eating that promotes overall health and wellness. This eating plan focuses on foods that help balance your body's pH levels to create an environment that supports healthy cells and tissues.
What is the Alkaline Diet?
The alkaline diet is based on the principle that the foods you eat can alter your body's pH balance and impact your health. The ultimate goal is to create an internal environment that has a pH ranging from 7.35 to 7.45, which is slightly alkaline. Foods are categorized as either acidic, alkaline, or neutral: Alkaline foods - Fruits, nuts, legumes, and vegetables Acidic foods - Meat, dairy, eggs, grains, alcohol, and processed foods Neutral foods - Natural fats, starches, and sugars By emphasizing alkaline foods and limiting acidic foods, proponents of this diet believe it can help neutralize chronic low-grade acidosis linked to inflammation, fatigue, and increased disease risk.
Benefits of an Alkaline Diet
Following an alkaline diet offers impressive benefits: Promotes pH balance Reduces inflammation Boosts immunity Increases energy Aids weight loss efforts Improves cardiovascular health Strengthens bones Detoxifies the body The diet focuses on nutrient-dense whole foods that provide antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, fiber, and water to help neutralize acids and remove toxins from the body. Balances pH Levels One of the main goals of the alkaline diet is to balance the body's pH levels. Chronic low-grade acidosis happens when acidic wastes accumulate in the body faster than they can be neutralized. This causes the body's pH to drop into unhealthy ranges. The alkaline diet counteracts this acidity and helps: Regulate fluids and electrolytes Filter out toxins and wastes Transport nutrients into cells Together this provides an ideal environment for cells and systems to function properly. Reduces Inflammation Acidosis creates an environment inside the body that promotes inflammation, a key factor in many chronic diseases. The anti-inflammatory foods emphasized on the alkaline diet can help reduce acidity and calm this internal fire. Some examples include: Fruits high in vitamin C Green leafy vegetables Nuts like almonds and walnuts Plant-based proteins like lentils and beans Lower levels of inflammation helps people feel better day-to-day. But even more importantly, it lowers the risk for disorders caused by chronic inflammation. Other Key Benefits Some other top reasons to follow the alkaline diet include: Increased Energy Levels - A balanced pH provides cells with ideal conditions for producing energy. Healthy Weight - The diet emphasizes low energy-density foods that support weight loss. Strong Bones - The diet provides bone-building nutrients often lacking in modern diets. Detoxification - Alkaline foods help remove acidic waste products and toxins. Together this creates an internal terrain that discourages damaged cells and chronic diseases from taking root.
The Best Alkaline Foods to Eat
Tumblr media
Focus your diet around these alkaline superfoods: Fruits Fruits are packed with alkaline-promoting nutrients. Choose fresh or frozen organic when possible. Top picks include: Lemons Watermelon Apple Grapefruit Kiwi Berries Papaya Pears Vegetables Aim for eating a variety of organic vegetables each day. Great options include: Spinach Kale Cucumbers Celery Carrots Sweet potatoes Broccoli Sea vegetables Nuts and Seeds Nuts and seeds are excellent sources of protein and healthy fats. Soak nuts before eating to boost nutrients. Try: Almonds Flaxseeds Pumpkin seeds Sunflower seeds Chestnuts Chia seeds Herbs, Spices and Oils Boost flavor and pH with these additions: Lemongrass Ginger Turmeric Cinnamon Garlic Cold-pressed olive oil Coconut oil Avocado oil
Foods to Avoid on the Diet
Tumblr media
To balance your pH effectively, you’ll also want to avoid or limit these acidic foods: Red meat Poultry Seafood Eggs Dairy products Processed grains Sugar Packaged snacks Soda Alcohol Coffee Even whole grains and beans - two staples of healthy diets - should be eaten sparingly since they skew acidic.
Additional Tips for Success
Follow these suggestions to make the most of an alkaline diet: Stay well hydrated with alkaline water Enjoy herbal teas Reduce stress through yoga, meditation, etc. Exercise at least 30 minutes daily Add more raw foods slowly Focus on how you feel As with any significant change to your diet, implement this eating pattern gradually. This gives your body time to adjust its complex systems. Pay attention to the signals your body is sending about the changes. Over time, you should feel less internal "discomfort" and more vibrant energy. Chronic issues you learned to tolerate could show improvement or fade away completely.
The Bottom Line
The emerging research shows an alkaline diet may be an extremely healthy way to prevent damage from modern diets and lifestyles. While studies continue, adjusting your eating pattern to favor alkaline foods poses little risk and offers tremendous potential. It provides a sustainable, nutrient-dense approach to eating that fights inflammation and encourages good health starting on the inside! ~Cloudy Conditions All Day~
~Wind Speeds Up to 30 km/h~
Time of writing this log is
Duties done at the station:
𓇼 Winding of the Clockworks
𓇼 Mail Check
𓇼 Grocery Run
when i visited moray station, the keepers there taught me of a simple first meal i could make, called chia pudding. it is made with coconut milk, which i didn't know coconuts could be milked, and these little black dots called chia seeds. now ofcourse i was wary of this, but when the woman keeper mixed in some honey and fruits, it tasted amazing! i shall be eating this new food for the next few days, either until im out of ingredients, or until im simply tired of it
Good evening log. I was inside all day today due to the wind speeds being of higher speeds than normal, so Mrs. Osslick was more cautious and warned me to stay in. I didn't mind this and spent most of the daylight just watching the movee things I was introduced to a few weeks ago. As it turns out, there are so many types! From those that are romantic, to those that aren't even with people in them, but drawings! I never knew that I could see a drawing be put to life, but hey, theres a first time for everything!!
Any movies I should watch?

//runs here when I saw the week of thanks event bc I know I just have to!! 😭
I think there’s a lot of things I’m grateful this year but I’m really grateful for Seventeen (cliché waaaa I know!) bc becoming a fan of theirs opened so many new doors for me like I got to meet you and many carats who are really cool! and I feel like it was always meant to be 🥺 I joked how I should’ve been a carat bc I’m very carat-coded 🤡 and then it came true and it’s been the best feeling 😭 and I feel they’ll lead me to appreciate my own art again bc I felt like I lost the inner-appreciation and pride for it but svt will somehow guide me to appreciating myself again 💗 above all, I’m thankful svt got me to laugh lots again. They returned the small pockets of happiness I lost ☺️💓✨
Member: Joshua! bc my shuarot has been at an l time high now ever since I dreamt of him reassuring me in the middle of a ‘what if we fail at parenting🥺’ / marriage anxiety crying session but really every time I dream of him he is always my number one cheerleader 😭 he always manages to cheer me up and tell me things will be ok 💗
//week of thanks 🍁
caratland is such a nice place to be — i'm glad you joined the fandom, chia <3 you put so much love into the space, and i hope you get that energy back tenfold. my year's been so much brighter with you in it!!
When Joshua invites you to his room for the first time, you're a little nervous, even though it's only because he wants to return your hoodie. As he rummages through his things, you notice something familiar on his cork board.
"Is that...my drawing?" You draw closer and squint. You remember this one—you made an irreparable mistake and scribbled over it before pushing the paper into your trash pile. Here it is again with the scribbles carefully erased.
And this one is a silly drawing you made on a napkin scrap.
And that's a picture of something you drew on the back of Josh's hand while waiting in line once.
The soft fabric of your hoodie wraps around your shoulders as he comes up behind you. "Yeah, they are."
"But why?"
He stares at the drawings before shrugging. "One man's trash is another man's treasure?"

tw for disordered eating stuff under the cut but I've been working with a dietician who specializes in individuals with ADHD and it has been truly life changing
I have had the hardest time stomaching food for the past year or so cause of my meds and sensory things from ADHD and it's only got worse from my doctor telling me to lose weight to the degree that I've lost over 30 pounds since April last year. I have tried so many things to make cooking and eating bearable but each time it's even more work. She initially guided me by trying to find foods I could always stomach that were easy to prepare. This worked for some time but eventually even the act of chewing seemed like a herculean task. At one point I just told myself to drink a glass of milk for breakfast because at least that was something.
When I told her this she immediately latched onto it and said we can work with that let's just make sure if you can't eat anything else that day you can drink 2L of this protein enriched milk and some specific vitamins. This pretty much flies in the face of any sort of nutrition advice I have found. That you need balance, that vitamins from food are better than supplements. But it only occurred to me once she put me on this diet that internalizing those things, while true for many people, did not help me, a person who in most cases can't get those nutrients any other way. I drink my milk, I try my best to eat a carb or two as well and some Chia seeds for fibre. And I feel much better than I did when I was barely eating anything, who knew! And yeah hopefully this isn't a forever thing. But I think I'll be set up for much more success on a balanced diet if I actually have energy and my mental faculties about me to go about it in a sensible way. Idk man novel brains require novel solutions and I've never felt safer with a medical professional in my life. She not only saw my unique needs and took them in without an ounce of judgment but she understood immediately that my losing weight was not a good thing despite being overweight.

Is there gods in your world?
Whether or not there's a sentient entity divinely creating life and driving events, is something I think wouldn't be good to discuss since that would take away from the world to explicitly say.
What I can say instead is that there are characters, groups, races with their own beliefs and religious figures that they share with each other.
In Kindin, which is Tiera's setting, there's one major religion dominating the major city that forms that setting, which is used to add legitimacy to the monarchy and gives churches more political sway. Long ago, there wasn't any kingdom but different groups of Chia, until one day, a member of a group saw visions of an angel coming to them and guiding them with specific knowledge and goals of uniting all the groups and conquering another race of creatures and subjugating them.
This formed the royal family of Kindin that's been going on ever since, and while I haven't gotten a chance to show it yet, there are a lot of churches around Tiera's setting, some symbolism, but the bigger impact is that a lot of the church's superstitious views impact a lot of the people living there. They look down at modern medicine and see those with physical/mental issues as "impure"... creating a stigma against someone who, say, claims to see ghosts. Like Tiera.
------------------
For Jugendin, which is the world Poppin and Jupa are part of, religion is extremely varied based on the different species. The Ibbix believe in a great goat-like creature named Vulcan, with a horn made of fire and a horn made of ice, that used his powers to shape mountains and caves and such filled with resources for the Ibbix to find and thrive. Mount Glitteroam is where they believe Vulcan resides and specifically made that mountain for them as a kind of promised land. That's why you find all those save statues everywhere... they're depictions of him.
Tumblr media
The other species are Cinmin and Rikki, these guys respectively:
Tumblr media
They both believe in the "same creator" being some kind of feline, but Cinmin believe it to be a large lion while the Rikki assume it's a normal-sized lady Rikki like themselves, and acts more as a trickster spirit. The two of species bicker about this sorta thing.
Bugs believe in a creature called "Beelzebug" that created all the insect species, but his exact image is pretty controversial. When the bee-centric Hive empire was briefly ruling the world it was a crime to depict Beelzebug as anything besides a... well, a bee. This caused some sects of, uh, insects to retreat and form their own closed cults, mainly with Moths.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not all characters care much about this sorta stuff: Tiera acknowledges it but doesn't really practice or look at it for guidance or fulfillment, she's got her own personal problems to worry about. And she might be more disillusioned in her modern times where she sees more of the negative impacts of these religious systems than anything. Poppin is aware of those stories but is a more of a "I'll believe it when I see it" guy, even if he'll be polite and respect others for what they think. Jupa thinks they make for neat stories and want to see for herself as well, but doesn't really think about a specific divine creator, she's more about... fate and destiny as some abstract thing guiding people where they need to be.
There's more stuff I'm leaving out but I just want to offer a little bit to give an idea. They aren't going to be major themes in any stories right now, but a part of the world-building and history.

hello hello long time follower first time asker. all your posts about neopets have made me curious about the site bc i have only ever really existed on the fringe of neopets and used other virtual pet sites in the 2010s (whereas neopets is more 2000s)... so questions: are you on the Actual Neopets Website or like a "rewritten" version (cause i think i heard something about those..? idk) and also what would your tips be for a Neopets Beginner? thank you sorry this question is long and sounds a bit silly. have a good day :-)
hey thanks for asking!! i've been thinking about writing up something like this for a while, but i hesitated because neopets is kind of weird to recommend to new players. i'm currently on NEOPETS.COM™ because all the neoclones i'm interested in are invite-only or aren't always accepting/processing applications... anyway here are my Tips(?) (i don't even know what to call this anymore because i got carried away writing it)
(i'll put any warnings/disclaimers at the end because i don't want to look like i'm trying to talk anyone out of checking out neopets lol. there are just some things to be aware of)
most importantly, try to have fun! =)
you can earn some neopoints by giving the games a try, or earn trophies for your profile by getting one of the high scores for the month. not all of the Flash-based games are working at the moment (they're using an emulator that doesn't have full compatibility yet), but Neopets also has a lot of browser-based game options like Sakhmet Solitaire, Dice-A-Roo, Cheat!, and NeoQuest. since those games involve reloading the page a lot, they're also a good way to trigger random events, which can yield NP, rare items, faerie quests, etc.
check out the spotlights & contests! you can earn nice prizes for some of these, like the Art Gallery and the Poetry Contest. even if you don't care to enter, I think it's interesting to browse the old entries and see what it took to win the Beauty Contest in the early 2000s.
you can read up on the lore and history of the site on Jellyneo's Book of Ages, which hosts information about the site's characters, old plots, collectible cards, and more. the Neopedia and the Gallery of Evil are also worth a look!
if you're interested in pet customization, Dress to Impress is a great resource for planning outfits and trying out wearable items you don't own yet, and I think it's pretty fun to play around with! just be sure to filter out Neocash items from your searches.
every Neopet has its own customizable webpage, so you can find all sorts of neat petpages-- guides, petpage directories, character pages, etc.
making "progress"
Jellyneo and The Daily Neopets are great resources! Jellyneo's Item Database in particular is nice for looking up approximate item prices
if you explore the site a bit, you'll find some activities and freebies you can access daily. do these dailies consistently for a decent profit and a chance of getting rare items. Jellyneo has a useful list of dailies here! Trudy's Surprise in particular will pay out increasing amounts of NP if you spin on consecutive days.
you can win 15 items a day by beating opponents in the Battledome, and even the easier opponents-- the Chia Clown and the S750 Kreludan Defender Robot-- have some decently profitable drops. start training one of your Neopets at the Swashbuckling Academy on Krawk Island using Dubloons, which you can receive from dailies or purchase via the Shop Wizard. some inexpensive beginner equipment: Scroll of Ultranova, Ridiculously Heavy Battle Hammer, Parasol of Unfortunate Demise, Downsize!, and Magical Healing Potion. oh, and don't train the Movement stat-- it's mostly useless!
browser extensions and userscripts can make the site more user-friendly/less janky! I use Ruffle to fix some of the broken Flash elements, and out of this list, I use the following Tampermonkey scripts: Search Helper, Sidebar Dailies, Grumpy/Wise King Autofill, BD Winnings Counter, Random Events Logger, and Shenkuu Lunar Temple Solver
right now, an event called the Faerie Festival is going on! every day until October 19, you can receive a free Faerie Quest, which usually only happens by chance. open a Shop Wizard tab before you receive your quest so you can easily look up the requested item. a lot of users have been receiving the sought-after Fountain Faerie Quest, which gives you access to a single free color change for one of your Neopets. you can pick almost any color, so choose wisely!
warnings/disclaimers
DON'T talk about most external websites or try to exchange contact info on Neopets or you'll get warned, even in neomails! here's a list of their approved fan sites
as a website founded by white British university students in 1999, Neopets' portrayal of other cultures has often ranged from insensitive or orientalist (several "tribal" pet wearables/a character from the Lost Desert in a stereotypical "belly dancer" outfit/the existence of a single East Asian mishmash land) to outright nasty (the "Sacrificers" plot in 2000 revolving around violent "cannibal islanders", plus a lot of issues with Mystery Island's lore/designs in general). the site also has a "no religion" rule and blocks words like "Jewish", but has a Christmas color for pets... I don't necessarily want them to remove old content entirely, but maybe some parts of the site warrant a Neopets version of that Looney Tunes disclaimer lol.
Neopets is heavy on gambling and chance, and random events (which have a chance of occurring every time you load a page) can be positive or negative. put valuable items in the Safety Deposit Box as soon as you get them, because they can be taken from your inventory via random event or unlucky wheel spin!
each individual pet has foods they will refuse to eat, books they will refuse to read, etc. Certain Neopet species may have unique "allergies" or other quirks, e.g. the Grarrl and the Skeith can eat non-food items, which can be useful for discarding junk, but can also result in accidentally feeding them valuable items... NEVER click "feed" when you're trying to use medicine/potions!!
overall, the site is kind of a mess right now! there are frequent errors and slow load times caused by increased traffic, poorly-implemented word filters that restrict words like "grape" and "cucumber," and the site currently exists in a half-converted state between the old and new layout. it's also outdated/poorly coded in a lot of aspects; pet and user names can never be changed, for example, so if you create or adopt a pet with a name deemed inappropriate, they will straight-up just delete that pet. this recently happened to someone on the subreddit who advertised the fact that they'd adopted a pet named Meowyjuana. RIP 🫡

Daily Check-in - July 24, 2023 🎀
Day 2 was a little different than yesterday, mainly because I had to work an 8 hour shift today, and it wore me out 😭 I still managed to do my morning routine and part of my night routine, so I am really happy with how today turned out regardless!
🩷 What I Ate Today:
Breakfast - A two good vanilla Greek yogurt bowl with cacao and cashew butter granola, a sliced up banana, chia seeds, and some peanut butter! And of course, a cup of coffee and water
Lunch - Salad, topped with Tuna (mixed withavocado oil mayo), small pieces of sharp cheddar cheese, and shredded carrots, and a bowl of watermelon
Dinner - Low carb quesadilla, three air fried Tyson chicken strips, more watermelon, and another coffee
Other - I tried these new electrolyte tablets that were recommended to me, and while I did not like the taste, I noticed a difference in my energy and how I overall felt going back to work after lunch
Water - currently 72oz, but I have another bottle of water on my desk that I plan on finishing by the time I go to sleep
🩷 Workout - Pilates Abs + Nighttime Stretches
Tumblr media
This was the first one I *attempted*, and I found it a bit difficult to keep up with mainly because it was my first day back to exercising after a three week break. I did enjoy the format and the exercises were pretty beginner friendly! 8.2/10
Tumblr media
This is the next one I did and I really enjoyed it! I loved the movements themselves and while I do wish it had actually been 10 minutes, it was super easy on the body! 9.7/10, I recommend
Tumblr media
I had to stop halfway through this one because I am not fit enough to keep up with a chloe ting ab video just yet, although I loved the exercises included and I absolutely love her vibe in all her videos! 8/10
Tumblr media
I ended the night with the same stretch video as I like the hip stretching, and it's currently a bit of a challenge since I'm not very flexible right now. 9.3/10
Tomorrow - Lower Body Pilates!
🩷 Habits I Accomplished Today
Made my bed this morning
Did morning and night skincare
Guided journal morning and night
Stretch 5+ min before bed
Read 10+ pages of a book
Workout for 30+ min
Still need to work on morning meditation and doing my daily journaling, but I'm proud of what I've kept up with so far!
🩷 Song of the Day: Up! - Kep1er
🩷 Current Read: Atomic Habits by James Clear
Overall, Day 2 is considered a success! I can't wait for tomorrow, I genuinely look forward to the things I get to do each day, especially now that I'm on this journey and documenting it. I look forward to being able to look back one day and be proud of how far I've come!
Til tomorrow!!

answering everything for this ask game
orchid ⇢ what’s a song you consider to be perfect? there are. a number of them. flare (clark powell, for homestuck) magilou's theme (motoi sakuraba, for tales of berseria) electricity forecast (inabakumori, really everything by them is just. so good) 14.3 billion years (andrew prahlow, for outer wilds)
cactus ⇢ something you’re currently learning (about)? how hard teaching is :/ idk it's difficult to process anything else when im having a fulltime job for the first time in my life -_-
bamboo ⇢ do you change into a different outfit when you get home? yes absolutely i need to wear something comfy and soft and unrestrictive so like. leggings and a t shirt. having to wear vaguely formal clothes to work is nice for my self esteem but they are absolutely not home clothes at all
abelia ⇢ do you have a particular piece of jewelry you always wear or can’t part with? not at the moment but i want to!! new year's resolution is to buy/make a necklace with 30 lunar phases and wear the appropriate one every day in 2024
daffodil ⇢ do you have siblings? if yes, in what ways do you think you’re similar to or different from them? i have an older sister, we're extremely different lmao i guess we're both academically inclined and like reading fantasy, but that's like. it. though we are both currently getting our masters degrees from the same university so that's neat
mahonia ⇢ what place, thing, activity inspires you most and how do you express yourself when it does? i guess… seeing something that was more beautiful than i expected? that's very vague hold on one time i was walking home from my office hours as a ta after a student had held me late these were evening office hours, so like. it was 2230, i was not dressed for the cold, i was annoyed at the student but but as i was passing a little field of grass, there were little ice crystals on the blades in the light of the streetlamp, as the wind was blowing the grass and i was walking past it the grass glittered i cant think of a better way to describe it but ive never seen anything like it since it completely made my day so yeah. that's my answer
chia ⇢ what’s an inside joke you have with someone else? hm idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i feel like inside jokes usually just become part of my vocabulary
sage ⇢ what ‘medium’ of art (poetry, music, fiction, paintings, statues etc.) is the most touching to you? why do you think that is? fiction i think it's because im much closer to being good at writing than i am to any other art form so it resonates more with me since i can feel/imagine its creation in a way that i cant for music or visual art also sometimes i read my own past writing and it eats me alive
edelweiss ⇢ how’d you think of your url/username? what’s it associated with to you? it's associated with my name obv, since it's just a pronunciation guide but it's also associated with my avi edits, which are wonderful and make me feel great joy
camellia ⇢ what were you like when you were younger? do you think you’ve changed a lot? oh absolutely also not at all past me and present me both had/have an absurd inability to compartmentalize, a large degree of silliness, and a general love for the world the main difference is that ive… done more things
jasmine ⇢ do you have a movie or book you loved but will never watch/read again? not quite a movie or a book but. katanagatari. i really liked it but also it is so fucking slow i tried to rewatch it a couple years ago and i couldnt bc it was just so wordy
ivy ⇢ what are your ‘tells’ for your emotions and moods? how can someone tell you’re happy, annoyed, upset or tired? it's quite easy to tell if im upset or tired i feel idk if theres a difference between them just like. looking at my eyes. also i take pauses when im tired/upset. also my voice is just. god. unsure about a tell for whether im happy though im not very in tune with my emotions to be able to tell that at least with other people if im by myself ill stim and the cadence/type of stim makes my emotional state obvious but who ever sees that
chamomile ⇢ what kind of things do you like receiving as gifts? things that encourage me to do something i want to do but need the motivation for my college friend group does a yearly gift exchange and a couple years ago i wished for earrings as motivation to get my ears pierced (it took me another 9 months but. we still did it girlies !!)
aloe vera ⇢ what’s something (mundane) you really want to experience in life? hm. failure? failing a class, or having a relationship break down, or tripping and getting myself seriously injured just. something that reminds me how ubiquitous loss is, that forces my brain to accept the fact that it's okay to not try to be perfect
palm tree ⇢ do you have a fictional villain you shouldn’t like but love regardless? aranea homestuck!! something about the way that she knew that the game over timeline would break, did her best to avoid it, and everything fell apart anyway the part where she kisses jake and is like "wait why are you freaking out?? i know you like me this was supposed to encourage you" is just. she's doing her fucking best and putting her all into saving the timeline and yet everything she's doing is hurting and she doesn't know why also the part where she snaps and mind controls damaras to smash planets together in a desperate attempt to kill the condesce. so important. love her idk if she even counts as a villain but the story hates her so. it counts for me
nutmeg ⇢ how’s your room/home decorated? do you have a specific theme or style going on? haha… "decorated"... that sure is a word…………
papyrus ⇢ if you put your ‘on repeat’ playlist on shuffle, what’s the first song that comes up? what do you like about it / associate it with? oooooh answer !! god. tales of luminaria was so fucking good!! (this was the trailer theme, and it was honestly the first thing that clued me into the fact that the game would be amazing)
taro ⇢ if someone called you right now to catch up, what’re the things you’d tell them about? i guess for a general hypothetical person, i'd tell them how i have a teaching job now, how i have to manage a horrible curriculum that's just. extremely pedagogically unsound i'd also tell them that i went to la over the summer and got to see my 2nd space shuttle orbiter, that i don't yet live somewhere with public transit but that day is growing ever closer and im so excited

Omega-6 Fatty Acids: A Comprehensive Guide to the Good, the Bad, and the Balanced
Tumblr media
Omega-6 fatty acids are a type of polyunsaturated fat that is essential for human health. They play a role in a variety of bodily functions, including inflammation, blood pressure, and blood clotting. However, too much omega-6 fatty acids can lead to inflammation and other health problems.
The Good
Omega-6 fatty acids are necessary for the production of prostaglandins, which are hormone-like substances that regulate a variety of bodily functions. Prostaglandins can be both beneficial and harmful, depending on the type. For example, some prostaglandins help to reduce inflammation, while others promote inflammation.
Tumblr media
Omega-6 fatty acids also play a role in cell growth and development, and they are important for the health of the skin, hair, and nails. Additionally, omega-6 fatty acids are a source of energy for the body.
The Bad
While omega-6 fatty acids are essential for human health, too much can lead to inflammation. Inflammation is a normal process that helps the body to heal from injury and infection. However, chronic inflammation can lead to a number of health problems, including heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer's disease, and arthritis.
The Western diet is typically high in omega-6 fatty acids and low in omega-3 fatty acids. This imbalance can lead to inflammation and other health problems. Omega-6 fatty acids are often found in processed foods and unhealthy vegetable oils, such as soybean oil, corn oil, and canola oil.
Tumblr media
The Balanced
The key to getting the most out of omega-6 fatty acids is to consume them in moderation. The following tips can help you to achieve a healthy balance of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids in your diet:
Choose healthy sources of omega-6 fatty acids, such as walnuts, almonds, and flaxseeds. These foods contain a type of omega-6 fatty acid called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which is less inflammatory than other types of omega-6 fatty acids.
Limit your intake of processed foods, which are often high in unhealthy omega-6 fatty acids.
Increase your intake of omega-3 fatty acids, which can help to reduce inflammation. Good sources of omega-3 fatty acids include fatty fish, such as salmon, tuna, and mackerel, as well as flaxseeds and chia seeds.
Aim for a ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids of 4:1 or less. This can be difficult to achieve with the typical Western diet, but it is important to make an effort to get as close as possible.
Tumblr media
Additional Tips
Here are some additional tips for reducing your intake of omega-6 fatty acids and increasing your intake of omega-3 fatty acids:
Cook with healthy oils, such as olive oil or avocado oil.
Avoid fried foods.
Eat more whole foods, such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds.
Choose grass-fed beef and lamb instead of grain-fed beef and lamb.
Take an omega-3 supplement if you don't eat fatty fish regularly.
By following these tips, you can help to ensure that you are getting a healthy balance of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids in your diet.
Conclusion
Omega-6 fatty acids are an essential part of a healthy diet. However, it is important to consume them in moderation and to balance your intake with omega-3 fatty acids. By following the tips above, you can help to ensure that you are getting the most out of omega-6 fatty acids and reducing your risk of chronic diseases.

How Omega-6 Fatty Acids Affect Your Mood (And What You Can Do About It)
Omega-6 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fatty acids that are essential for human health. They are found in a variety of foods, including vegetable oils, nuts and seeds, fatty fish, and meat and poultry. Omega-6 fatty acids play a role in many important bodily functions, including cell growth, inflammation, and hormone production.
There is growing evidence that omega-6 fatty acids may also play a role in mood. For example, one study found that people with higher levels of omega-6 fatty acids in their blood were more likely to experience symptoms of depression and anxiety. Another study found that taking omega-6 fatty acid supplements improved mood in people with depression.
The exact mechanism by which omega-6 fatty acids affect mood is not fully understood. However, it is thought that they may do so by:
* Affecting the production of neurotransmitters, such as serotonin and dopamine
* Reducing inflammation in the brain
* Promoting the growth and repair of nerve cells
It is important to note that the research on the relationship between omega-6 fatty acids and mood is still ongoing. More research is needed to determine the optimal intake of omega-6 fatty acids for mood health.
However, there are some things you can do to make sure you are getting a healthy balance of omega-6 fatty acids in your diet:
* Choose plant-based oils that are high in monounsaturated fats, such as olive oil and avocado oil.
* Limit your intake of processed foods, which are often high in omega-6 fatty acids and inflammatory ingredients.
* Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
* Include fatty fish in your diet at least two times per week.
* Consider taking an omega-3 fatty acid supplement. Omega-3 fatty acids can help to balance the effects of omega-6 fatty acids in the body.
If you are concerned about your mood or mental health, talk to your doctor. They can help you to assess your diet and lifestyle and make recommendations to improve your overall health and well-being.
