The long ass bss post but now it is not expanded for mobile users
Bs (s?) The Great and Incomplete Compilation
// Konny walks into Mikell’s office to see him beating the shit out of a shapeshifter with Adam’s form
Kondraki immediately takes out his camera to commemorate this moment Jan 29 // A shapeshifter that shapeshifts into people’s worst fears is loose onsite! When it gets to Mikell, it shapeshifts into Adam
This just takes place a long time after the whole o5-12 incident and Mikell believes that he has gotten over his traumas but now its really just here to slap him in the face that he hasn’t at all
But atleast he gets another chance to punch it’s face Jan 28 // A small epilogue: a few weeks later, Mikell heads down to a very particular containment cell. It had taken a while to get the paperwork through for the visit, but it felt long overdue. After all, it wasn’t just the three brothers who’s lives were thrown into turmoil by one Adam Bright; there were two others. And while one wasn’t reachable anymore, the other was within foundation care. Mikell entered a cell that he’d never gone to before, but perhaps should have a long time ago.
“Hello, Sarah.”
He had never actually seen his youngest sibling; with Adam Bright’s obsession over her after ‘the incident’, he had never bothered. They hadn’t known each other, she had been there for so little time that he had barely registered her as one of his siblings, but in another life he would have raised her. Claire may be long gone and out of reach, but Sarah was still here and he could still reach her. Perhaps Adam did the worst by her out of all of them; his selfishness had robbed her of what should have been a peaceful death, and had torn all of them apart in the process. She may never recognise him for who he is, who they should have been to each other, trapped forever with the mind of a baby, but he could still watch out for her and make sure she was well taken care of.
His is her big brother, after all
Jan 27 // TJ didn't want to stop watching the show because the penguins were still there. The birds are cute and go from looking good, to dancing, to fighting, to building houses or even several of those together to show that they would be excellent couples
You know now I really want the found family to take/sneak Tj to see the zoo (a real zoo not filled with weird ass anomalies which is the Foundation) Jan 27 // Thompson and Black treat Mikell to a lovely one-year-anniversary dinner after Mikell has a long rough week at work
Awwww Jan 27 // Oh oh idea- Even they were younger and had trouble living on what little they had, Mikell would always try to make an effort for his siblings' birthdays, even if it meant just getting a small cupcake with a candle on it, because his siblings still deserved something good to show them that they mattered. Unfortunately however, this meant that Mikell never got his own birthday celebrated, even as an adult. So one day he walks on site to see a surprise birthday party his family has made for him. :)
!!! I think all of the siblings could not for the life of them remember Mikell’s birthday date, and Jack is just searching through old files when he was still an agent to see if it was there (luckily it was). They had to plan everything in secret ofc and find a way to bring Mikell to their site without being suspicious about it.
They all planned it as a cowboy theme and had bought out everything from party city and other stores just to decorate the site like it was a birthday party for a young child who was obsessed with cowboys Jan 27 // It depends on the zoo (one where the animals are treated well) it would be nice to see it or an aquarium, to have fish stuffed animals
I think Tj and everyone would have a blast going to either or but I am just imagining some of them pointing at the animals in their little habitat and going ‘What weird anomalies those things are’ 'Their containment cell is so different’ and things like that in such a serious tone
Jan 27 // TJ looks at his father and brother "can I have a cell like that Jaguar's?" Meri takes advantage of making the same request "why can't I have a cell like theirs" that hurts the elderly in the soul, how good that other parents are very aware of their children to notice what they say
Oh god those two asking for their containment cell to be like the animal’s habitat, it is such a bad feeling in their stomachs, really how nice it would be, open big spaces instead of being in a room with no view of the outside world, everything decorated for their preferences and enjoyment and not just the minimum for living. I think what is hurting me is that they call it their ‘cell’ so unbothered because that is how everyone in the Foundation refers it as

Draven is with his brothers watching an animal documentary, when he sees two males fighting for a territory that they will use to attract a female, he looks at the two minors "that's how Papa Kon and Papa Clef realized they wanted to be with the other and sought to get his attention "Jack was also watching TV" removing the fact that there was no female involved "Mikell follows the flow, the minors only pretend as if they understood
Kondraki and Clef walking in to them all talking about how they met and acted around eachother before they got together just, “Ok kids that is enough TV now”
Jan 26
////
Jack watches Clef and Kon fight with Mikell with Nostalgia "I just need to lose this body and it will be like before" Mikell looks at him somewhat scared "WHAT?" Jack tells him how things were before, Mikell understands and at the same time he doesn't understand how they ended up together or how these two people make such a mess. I hope they don't destroy the party
Mikell has never experienced the senior staff’s chaos first hand and had only saw reports on it, the whole time he saw Kondraki and Clef together they were chill only at points do they pick on eachother and banter but now they look like madmen who are currently destorying everything in their way, swinging and clashing swords with eachother and no one seems to be bothered by this and he wonders how his employees has been working if these two fighting brought back nostalgia
Jan 26 ////
“Time passes, things change and we believe that it is time for you to retire, 12, we are grateful for your many years of service, but it is time for you to continue with what remains of your life in something else"
The council had decided 12’s fate
Jan 26 ////
Oh! I really like the idea of amnestics and Adam leaving without any memories of the foundation or his children! That’s a much better end to it than what I was thinking! I do want to think things still play out the way I wrote before, with the final trap, and Mikell lands the final blow in the that fight, but it’s not the blow to end Adam’s life, it’s the final nail in the coffin for Adam’s o5 status; it officially puts him beyond a point where the o5 council will let him stay.
After the final verdict is given, and the amnestics dolled out, and Adam Bright is now just a name that exists in memories, the found family throws a celebration. Rights and Jack lead it, but it’s for everyone who helped along the way. It’s a big one, there’s a lot of people so of course it is, and it’s absolutely wild.
And afterwards, when things are quiet and they can finally get their privacy, Kondraki sits with his three new children, holding them all (but especially Mikell, who had been the target for his bio father’s anger and vitriol for months to try and keep him from looking at the rest of the family, and all that stress is now starting to come down on him and he might be shaking), and whispering softly, “it’s okay. He’s gone. He won’t hurt you anymore. It’s finally over.”
And the three Bright brothers can breathe again.
I think that is a wonderful wrap up of all this!! And the combination of both our of ideas of the encounter and the end of 12 getting formally booted out of the Foundation, it shows how much work all the found family put together Jan 26 ///
Plot twist mikell just doesn't want to admit he's been pinning for his own bodyguards from the very beginning
Mikell: Oh wow my crushes are so hot but they won’t like me back, we only have a work relationship and I shouldn’t try and get my hopes up too high or I would make it awkward between us all
Thompson and Black, wearing a ‘I am in love with Mikell Bright’ tshirt: Jan 26 ////
Thompson and Black attempt to ask Mikell out on a date. Mikell completely misunderstands and assumes that theyre just inviting him out to a fancy restaurant for a candle-lit dinner as friends, even though the table is decorated with roses and theres a heart-shaped decoration on the table.
A loving fancy candle lit dinner, being picked up with a bouquet of roses, escorted through the restaurant to the top floor for only vip guests which needs top connections to even have reservations and being presented gifts that are personalized to you
Just normal friend stuff to do this your two bodyguard friends
mikell please these two got beaten up by your dad just to get his blessing to ask you out
Jan 26 ////
I like to think Black and Thompson started dating each way back before; they started bonding over pining for Mikell, gre really close, and what two members of the factotum do in their very limited off time is their own business. They both still carry their torches for Mikell, but they do deeply love each other too.
Kondraki catches wind of this and goes to confront them, trying to work out what the deal is with them pursuing Mikelll while being already being together with each other, and Black just bursts out “fucking hell, I’ve been pining for Mikell since about a month after we met and I’m still carrying that torch”. Thompson, trying to sound more professional, “what he means is, sir, we each had feelings for Mikell first, and got together with each other later. Loving Black does not stop me from loving Mikell, they are equal, and Black is the same. We are in agreement on this.”
And that is the day Konny learns about poly relationships. (It also becomes a tentative positive point for them on their profile. (- Have already proven to be good partners (note: to each other))
Kondraki really sees how much they care for Mikell, the term polyamory is a new concept to him and even if he doesn’t fully understand it, he still see those two are really in love with Mikell. Reflecting on the fight those two really put everything they got even if it ending up with them very beaten down and exhausted
So he gives his go ahead, those two are ecstatic about this but he reminds them he isn’t the one they need to impress, it’s Mikell. It’s now his choice on this matter if he wants a relationship with them and Kondraki reminds them if they don’t treat him right, they are going to end up worse than 12 Jan 26 ////
imagine Clef eating cake while watching her husband fight "reminds me of the old days"
After the fight with Thompson and Black, Kondraki just adds in ‘Want to duke it out like our younger days Alto?’
It just ends with these two middle age men hysterically laughing at eachother as they sword fight in the middle of Mikell’s coming out party which they destroy a table and many other things, all the senior staff who have not seen those two fight in so long are nostalgic but Mikell is just “Hey is this normal???” /// Mikel asks Konny what he’s doing and Konny tells him he’s just checking if these two are worthy of being his future sons-in-law.
Mikell is so confused cause, ‘Son in laws? Like his kids? He didn’t fight Kondraki when Kon decided to adopt him or his siblings?’ Jan 26 ///
Just had a thought as to why Black and Thompson aren’t doing well in the fights. Cause how they’re used to fighting is with Black by Mikell’s side and Thompson covering their backs. Mikell is needed there too, and the balance is thrown off without him
That is definitely a good reason on this! Those two main goals has always been on protecting Mikell, never rushing off to fight the enemy. It was always defense than offense but right now that is how they are fighting Kondraki. They are missing the key here which is Mikell, they are uncoordinated and making mistakes which won’t happen normally and Mikell who is watching this go down is noticing that Jan 26 ////
At his party Mikell turns around from eating gayke (gay cake) and sees Konny give Thompson and Black an ass-whooping before Konny tells them, “Aight I’ll let you try again.”
Mikell is just absolutely confused on what is happening on why his two bodyguards and his dad are fighting and tries to intervene but Jack stops him and just shrugs ‘This happens to every one in a while, Kondraki fights people to see if they are good enough" 'Good enough for what??’
Kondraki is to say not that impressed right now, these two were assigned to protect an o5, one of the higher ups, the one who runs the Foundation and they are both getting swept by him, he isn’t even using 408 to help him it is a 1 v 2 fight right now. They are determined and calm about this which he likes but they have no coordination with eachother, they aren’t fighting together at all and are rushing at him, but he wants to see if they are good enough for Mikell at this point to even protect him so he lets them try again Jan 26 //// Being willing to have your femur broken to date one of their children is a plus point for dating one of their children. here, me wanting to hear anecdotes of Kondraki and Clef in the early days when they tried to woo each other, stories told by Right, Jack and maybe Gears
Oh god the kids hearing about Kondraki’s and Clef’s younger days in the Foundation when they were at eachothers throats constantly. Jack would be gossiping around on how wild those two were and how many bodies they had lost because they accidentally got in the way of their fighting. Clef always picking on Kon and teasing him constantly and Kondraki replying with all that with violence. Rights at the time being the person who was able to somewhat control those two but of course not fully. Then Gears going on how much he had to fix everything they did and how many times he scolded them constantly for all the damage
Then somehow in the end they got together and they function so well despite everyone’s absolute shock Jan 26 //
Thompson and Black go to Kondraki during Mikell’s coming out party and immediately are like “Mr Kondraki our good sir can we have your blessing to court your son”
Kondraki is just “What is this the dark ages?? Actually no you can’t, fight me in a duel first and I will see if I can accept you two”
Then just Mikell turns around to screaming and yelling to see his bodyguards fighting with his new dad (who is somehow overwhelming the two of them) Jan 26 //// They looked scrawny, tired, stressed and yet they still stood before him, willing to fight for this if it would get his approval. They were scared but clearly holding conviction. They wouldn't back down despite how men twice their size had many times in the past. Kondraki couldn't help but find that to be a good sign. They managed to be neither cocky, nor weak. Talloran lost. Obviously. However when Kondraki helped them up with a smile, Talloran hoped that perhaps there was still a chance. Kondraki didn't really care that Talloran failed, brute strength didn't dictate character. It was how Talloran has kept getting back up over and over when Kondraki had knocked them down. He put Talloran firmly on the up for consideration list and then read over their work, including the 3999 incident. Reality benders like that weren't something Kondraki himself liked to ever play with, and the idea that it was still there to some degree? It frightened him a little, but somehow Talloran had barely any incidents of rule breaking or outlashes where anyone else became injured. It was a remarkable amount ot self control. Now he was certainly impressed. Maybe he'd give them a chance.
Oh! I think Talloran is really a type a person that Kondraki likes (determined, but not cocky) he is able to see their real character rather than reading up on their file which really gives him nothing. Kondraki is really a ‘I see it then I would believe it’ guy he makes his own opinion of others first hand. This kid is going to go far here and the fact they were only still a researcher here is impressive and that they still have their morals intact is good
_i think it is honestly impressive that despite kon's old age now is that he can still fight so well like at this point in his life fighting is really a good way to see someone's real character and Kondraki knows that well
Jan 26 // Honestly field agent politics can be described in a sentence "high School politics".Because the youngest you can be in order to enroll if the foundation is like 16, so you basically have a bunch of high schoolers mixed with a bunch of adults maybe a few people close to retirement. Most agents in their prime are like 20 to 21 and most of the time they are dying left and right because of the high mortality rate.
Because you know scps
Yeah everything is a mess. Alot of young people joining because they needed money or they don’t have a place to go anymore and so they lose their lives too easily in the fields and the older you are the more you are just kinda respected there not because of ‘listen to your elder’ shit but the 'I have live and worked here long enough to survive the horrors we have locked up here’ but that comes with alot of mental distress of everything. Really the mortality rates here are terrifying Jan 26
// Kondraki obtains the profile of each potential candidate and reviews them during breakfast, marks them as pass or fail, fighting is just one of several methods he uses.
Kondraki is just looking at the staff’s personnel file on the Foundation site and runs through their background, their clearance level, their professions, and any other notable things. It’s very time consuming and the fact that a lot of details are redacted is tough. I think fighting Kon is like the quickest and easiest way for Kondraki to see what their character is like but honestly I don’t people are going to be thrilled on fighting this disaster man who can break their bones just to date one of his kids Jan 26 //
good question, maybe he sat in front of Kondraki with a report on why he would be a good candidate to woo Draven, now, with Meri I'm curious what Clef would do hahahahaha
Talloran just set up a whole powerpoint and everything on why they would be a good boyfriend. Like he set up a time in a meeting room in the site and dressed up nice to be so professional about this
And then there is Clef
No one is allowed to date his daughter. This man is rough. Getting him to accept anyone is like asking Hell to freeze over. No one is going to get pass him.
_only if Meri says that she likes them and wants to date them is when he will back off but otherwise its a going to be a bad time Jan 26 // Why do I have an image in my head of Kondraki reading on Talloran on 3999’s file like its a dating profile like he printed it out and is just drinking coffee in his office looking at every detail then later he goes up to Draven and says ‘They seem like a good match for you’ Jan 26 // kon read tallorans incident with 3999 and decided he was good to date draven
You know what being able to live with an eldritch horror which its purpose was to torment you for god knows how long and which can destroy and recreate reality as it wishes, that’s got to get you some points on impressing your boyfriend’s dad Jan 26 // Thompson and Black go to Kondraki during Mikell’s coming out party and immediately are like “Mr Kondraki our good sir can we have your blessing to court your son”
Kondraki is just “What is this the dark ages?? Actually no you can’t, fight me in a duel first and I will see if I can accept you two”
Then just Mikell turns around to screaming and yelling to see his bodyguards fighting with his new dad (who is somehow overwhelming the two of them)
Jan 26 //
Those good with tech scrub the cameras and security, making sure no trace of what’s about to happen remains. Those good in combat help Black and Thompson with dispatching anyone who’d interfere, while others help to secure a perimeter, no one who isn’t in the operation getting in or out. Draven, Meri, and a handful of others remaining away to guard TJ, to make sure nothing retaliatory heads his way. Rights is the main communicator, glued to her radio and making sure everyone is accounted for and where they should be. The only ones actually inside the room and springing the trap being those deepest invested in this; Kondraki (with Clef as backup), Jack, and of course Mikell. If Adam does manage to make it out, those waiting outside makes sure he won’t get far, but this is personal.
I can’t decide if it would be Mikell or Kondraki who would be the one to deal the final blow. Both feel like they would fit well; the oldest son who’s been put through so much, or the new father who’s better than Adam ever could have been and is furious about what his children were put through.
Oh!!! This is very interesting just everyone pitching in together and the final moments with Adam. It’s a real tough choice picking between Mikell or Kon but I feel Mikell in this situation would be the best as he is the one who was affected the most here and it would feel like a closure to him
But for me I feel like killing Adam would be to much of a easy way out in this story, like he is escaping this whole situation too easily to be the end. I don’t know how but I want them to force Adam’s hand into leaving, leaving the Foundation and never being in relation to the bright siblings (kinda like a circle around to ‘canon’ Adam retiring and like dropping of the edge of the world never to be heard again deal) because right now as you said in a previous ask they made 12 look more and more incompetent in his work and the council is on the edge of not counting him as reliable anymore. He isn’t fit for that position anymore. I want them to kick him out of the council and give him amnestics to forget all the years of working in the Foundation but 'someone’ slips in a higher class amnestics, one that would make him forget he had a family to begin with, that he never had kids, or anything Jan 26 ////
OH MY GOD! THE PLAN TO KILL KONDRAKI WAS ALL A LIE TO "PLEASE" ADAN, TO REMOVE HIS ATTENTION FROM MIKELL'S NEW FAMILY AND TO GET RID OF ADAN WHO I THOUGHT I WON! (I've been wishing Konny's death for two days, but now everything sounds like a plan) Konny comes back once Adam is gone, Clef is crying
Oh!!! Jan 26 /// Clef loves her husband, but sometimes she has to avoid wanting to take the whole orphanage "there are more good parents who would like to adopt, don't take away the opportunity by killing all of you!" the orphanage kindly decided that since Kondraki has enough children in her care, she is forbidden to adopt more
The orphanage has a sign that says ‘If you see this man do not let him in because he will adopt everyone here’ Jan 26 //
Black and Thompson watching Jack's Gay party for Mikell "is this an opportunity?"
They are trying so hard to play it chill but
!!!! Potential boyfriend Jan 25 //// “Since I've known your father I've always wanted to see him get hit in the face, now that my wish is satisfied I want to offer you my help" someone's words to Mikell
God so many of the staff are willing to help Mikell and he is just so shocked at this fact
Everyone wants to see 12 get fucking dragged Jan 25 ///
It takes months of planning and preparation to get to the final point; careful sliding in and taking over operations 12 is handling (both to make sure those tasks aren’t upset or derailed without 12, and to also make 12 look incompetent), manoeuvring 12 into arguments and outbursts to make the rest of the o5 council view him more and more as a liability, plotting and rehearsing how the final trap will be sprung so that there’s no mistakes or opportunities for 12 to slip through. They only get one shot at this. The location for the final confrontation is Mikell’s office, Black and Thompson deal with any guards (their loyalty is to 6 first and foremost), and Mikell uses himself as bait to draw his former father into a trap he wasn’t expecting. Everything falls into place
!!!!! OHHH Jan 25 ///
AU where Kon and Clef adopt Mikell and his brothers as children? Konny was going to adopt one, just one, he ended up taking the whole package! The children were placed in children's services because a teacher noticed the condition of the children, an investigation was made and it was determined that they were left to their fate, so custody passed to the ClefKondraki familys
Kondraki, sees a child with no family:!!!
Clef: Kon..
Kondraki, seeing that they have siblings: !!!!!!! Clef: Konny-
Kondraki, immediately signing adoption papers:
Clef: Ben please we have over 20 kids Jan 25 ///
Evelyn, the first proof that even being o5, you can still get rid of Adam
Hell yeah!!! Jan 25 //
Au where Konny adopts the Bright siblings while they’re still kids- he takes them to McDonald’s and loses them in the play place
ADTEVFUUF???
KONDRAKI GETS STUCK TRYING TO GET THEM OUT OF THE PLAY PLACE AND CLEF IS THERE TAKING PICTURES INSTEAD OF HELPING AND THE KIDS ARE JUST STANDING THERE ALREADY OUT AND EATING THEIR HAPPY MEALS Jan 25 ///
Me, still thinking of the 12 v found family civil war: they can’t face Adam head on, so they’ll probably have to draw him into a trap to take him down. And while Adam is arrogant, he’s not dumb, so they’d need to draw him in in a way that makes him reckless. And the best way for that would probably be drawing on his possessive nature over his children. So Mikell would probably wind up using himself as bait
!!!
I think so too, at this point Mikell has to keep 12’s attention solely on him, he can’t shut down like last time when Adam confronted him after the Kondraki incident. He’s gotta really mentally prepare himself for this to face his shit dad
_found family vs 12 final boss fight
Jan 25
////
After coming out to Konny, Mikell asks him if he can be with him when he comes out to Jack. Even tho Mikell already knows that Jack isn’t the straightest person in the world, he still feels that he needs the external support
Kondraki is cool with going with Mikell and I think Jack’s reaction is just boils down to ‘good job on coming out’ and 'I am throw you a site wide gay coming out party right now’
_Mikell has to stop Jack from destroying the whole site for the sake of the party (big brother mode gone o5 boss activated)
Jan 25 ///
there are women who even with their children do not really feel anything for them. Maybe Evelyn simply does not care, she fulfilled being a mother and wife, ready, now she does her business with freedom, as soon as the divorce became legal, she separated from Adan not only physically, but also legally
She basically just peaced out huh Jan 25 ///
Returning to TJ, Jack finds out from Draven what his younger brother has drawn, so he goes to ask him, jokingly tells him that he will write it as if it were an SCP. TJ asks him if he is locked up for doing something wrong, the answer is just that he is here to be safe from the monster that is still on the loose.
By jokingly Jack it totally going to write up a file on that ‘monster’ and use Tj’s drawing for its profile (along with a certain o5 approval) And yeah I honestly think before Tj and Meri both had a conversation on why they were here, its a very finicky topic and Jack tries his best to talk to Tj about it cause even for himself he is labeled as an scp Jan 25 ///
The difference between Adam and his sons is, after the initial hurt, Jack and Mikell realised they were wrong and worked to fix it, while Adam reacted with anger and a want to turn things back to how he felt they should be. And that makes all the difference in the world
YEAH! Mikell and Jack both reacted like their father did (unconsciously or maybe they some how engraved his behavior and had copied the reaction) but they went about it completely different. Adam himself doesn’t like change he wants things to stay the same while the two are willing to accept change Jan 25 ////
I’m pretty sure Evelyn leaves his ass at some point long before this, which you can bet he didn’t take well
Oh yeah definitely and I think that just made Adam so weirdly possessive of his kids and of them leaving him Jan 25 /// I think we have forgotten that Adan is married, unless we say that unlike Adan his wife does not care so much about the situation, she is involved in her affairs and she complied with bringing them into the world
Oh god I honestly do not know how Evelyn is going to play in this story,,,, Jan 25 ////
1) I like to think that over the years Adan has become more confident of his actions, he will go through his son's office without entering just to cause fear, he thinks that nothing has changed and he does not see a reason to confirm it, everything is as he likes and by claiming his son, he has put him back in his place so that he does not try to leave again.
2) Thing is, his negligence means that he does not take a look at the live of his children, just as Jack and Mikell did not know that it was wrong until the drawing, only that they care about TJ
Wow I am here for this. Also Mikell and Jack really did what their father did, as long as Tj was where they knew he was they didn’t bother much of seeing him, thinking everything would be the same but just the realization that Tj was moving away from them they finally noticing what was wrong Jan 25 ///
This isn’t really related to the story idea going on, but the Mikell coming out bit reminded me of my ship for him. Black and Thompson; his bodyguards. I saw exactly one (1) thing where they had personalities and my mind immediately jumped to thinking the three of them would be cute together. They spend a lot of time together just by nature of their respective jobs, and the two are already invested in Mikell’s physical well-being, I just could see it growing into even more. I think Black and Thompson carry a torch for Mikell for years, but never act on it because all three think he’s straight.
Oh this is cute and Mikell is an oblivious repressed gay Jan 25 ///
We wanted to hit Adan and we succeeded, now we plan his death (or only I do it) I think we are doing very well hahahaha
If we all try hard enough we can kill Adam with pure spite Jan 25 //
If they hate us, it's too stormy for a glass of water, and I've read things that have made me want to tear out my eyes. How much desire to see the world burn, I love it HAHAHAHA
I have read some terrible things on the wiki, yeah they all deserve to read our Bright siblings get adopted story Jan 25 //
We have possibly created one of the best fanfictions that I have read, there is everything, there is to laugh and to cry, there is also to make a drawing of Adam to throw darts at him
finiffy answered: Man we should submit this to the main wiki, everyone would absolutely hate us and what we did to the characters here
arachnid-vinn SCP Wiki: nooo you can't just morph the characters so much!! It makes no sense! They could never do that!! SCP Tumblr: haha Adam Bright finally gets the ass beating he deserves
finiffy We legitimately got Kondraki to adopt Mikell, Jack, and Tj as his kids while getting him to beat up Adam in the middle of an o5 meeting I can hear the scp wiki people screaming all the way over here Jan 25 ///
Definitely not head on, definitely not impulsive, but between all of them, they have a very wide variety of skills. And those are useful. If they plan and are careful and delegate according to people’s strengths, they can win this. And having the Bright brothers on board helps a lot, especially Mikell who knows him the best. Mikell might not be ready to stand up to his father on his own, but he’s come so far and has grown so much, and he knows not to keep things from Jack anymore. And Jack has enough rage and hatred to fuel decades. Between the two of them, they can get and give enough information that this really could work.
It could actually be possible, they have to keep everything on the down low knowing the o5 are still overseeing them all, it is so risky. Knowing Kondraki he did not think at all about the consequences of actually picking a fight with an o5 but he is still going to take the responsibility of it. He tries to relax Mikell that he isn’t at fault here and his ‘dad’ had it coming for a long time. They still don’t know what Adam is going to do, but everyone else is taking precautions here. Jack hearing from Mikell who told him everything that happened, he is just so glad that for the first time Mikell isn’t hiding information from him anymore, he is coming to him clean. For Mikell he is the only one here who has free roam of everything being a o5 himself, he really is the key here to protect himself and his now family Jan 25 ///
TJ, what makes the monster in your drawing so scary?" TJ looks at Draven smiling as he shows him the drawing "He's big! Much bigger than me, he has a very terrifying voice, his gaze can freeze people, his presence makes others cry and tremble and his footsteps make the earth tremble ! " Draven has the feeling of what the boy describes "very well, that must be locked up too"
Holy shit ardfdgf Draven: Don’t worry Tj it is an agent’s job to contain any dangerous creatures and protect everyone, that monster won’t hurt anyone Jan 25 //
TJ tells Jack that he is drawing an ugly monster, Jack thinks it is some SCP that he saw at some point, when he sees the drawing he looks too much like his father (here, throwing dirt at Adam for more fear than hahahaha )
Jack immediately hangs it in his office while also giving Mikell a copy They both got it hanged infront of a dartboard and has multiple dart holes in it Jan 25 ///
When you create together and everyone is in tune, it is easy to get excited about what you create, especially if it is a fun activity for those involved.
Yeah! I am loving how engaging all of this is and how every person adds a little more to this story and the characters and I’m just honestly amazed how almost coherent our ramblings are, like with a little cleaning here and there this would be an amazing fic Jan 25 //
why do i feel like this bs story we all are creating here is way more engaging than some actual tales on the wiki“ - Simple! Because it is!
Adgdf For real though this is the most interesting story I have read and everytime someone adds onto this story it is 100% more amazing Jan 25 ///
I look back and wonder how did Tj’s drawings of the clefkondraki fam somehow lead to a civil war in the Foundation between o5-12 and basically a rag team of found family Jan 25 //
One thing Kondraki has protecting him is that he’s linked with so many foundation members and scps. If you take on Kondraki, you’re not just taking on Kondraki; you’re taking on Clef, and Rights, and Draven, and Bright even before the adoption but especially after, and every other scp/member he’s connected with whether as a friend or as a parent. If Kondraki gets into serious trouble, there’s a hoard of people waiting in the wings to back him up. No matter how powerful someone is, they’re still one person. And one person is no match for an army.
Yeah! But also they are going after an o5, their employer, someone who most people doesn’t even known existed, and someone who knows more than what they can imagine and the deep secrets of the Foundation. No matter how much you care about a person your own self saftey will take first priority which nothing is wrong with that because that is how you survive in the Foundation. You can’t brute force this situation, you have to tread carefully and seeing most of them are only researchers/doctors/staff they can’t fight head on Jan 25 ///
Before thinking about what to do with Adam, he must think of himself, Glass's little voice in his head. Mikell after doing his job still feels terrible, he goes out to take a ride without being aware that he is going directly where Right or Glass, before fearing your father you must think about yourself, they will not be able to escape, they will want to kill Adam but they are not stupid, they know when not to fight
He knows they have little power over an o5 but everyone has become such a pillar for him, they all care for him. In the first time in his life he is going to rely on others and he needs to tell Jack what happened today, no more of trying to wall off information and preventing them from knowing and leaving them in the dark, they aren’t back at that small house where their parents abandoned them, they aren’t kids anymore. They can talk and see how they can deal with this Jan 25 //
Writing bit!) “I’m gay,” Mikell mumbles, face in Konny’s sweater as Konny hugs him tight. He can feel the tears starting to soak his sweater as Mikell starts to shake. “Hey, it’s okay, Mikell. It’s okay,” Konny soothes. He hugs his son tighter, rubbing circles into his back as he presses a small kiss to his son’s forehead. “I know it was hard to tell me this, Mikell, but look! You did tell me. I’m so proud of you, son.”
AAAAA God and this is the first time Mikell has ever heard someone say they were proud of him and he just starts crying more
Jan 25 //
I’ve sort of come to the characterisation of Adam Bright as detached but unhealthily possessive. It’s the only thing I can think of for why he didn’t show any care of concern over his living children, but went into an obsession over his dead one that lasted for years and years and never fully went away. It’s a ‘doesn’t really care that he has you, but also doesn’t want anyone else to have you’ thing. If he considers you to belong to him, then that’s considered a done thing for him, and the idea of something, even death itself, taking away something he considers to belong to him brings out all of his worst traits to the maximum. And the idea that Kondraki is encroaching on his property; that gets his blood boiling
!! Oh I’m down for this characterization for Adam and I really think that is why Kondraki despises him so much, these people are his children yet he doesn’t treat them as such They both let the kids do their own things but the difference is Kondraki is a home where the kids can come back to whenever while Adam is just empty of attachment. I feel like for Adam he expects things to stay the same when he counts something as his, just like putting something on a shelf, he knows it will stay there even if he doesn’t do anything for it, as long as it is there and not broken he doesn’t really care if it gets dusty or dirty but once someone tries to take it or to clean off the dusts he gets mad
Jan 24 //
Adam will be old, but he's from o5 and they let Kon get off once, but I don't think he's going to make it that easy.
Yeah and that is one thing Mikell is absolutely terrified of, Mikell can’t protect Kon because compared to his father he doesn’t have that much power as he is one of the youngest o5s there. Getting on Adam’s bad side will end in a tragedy and now he is struggling on what to do Jan 24 ///
Mikell tries somehow to make his brain react, but the situation is heavy for him, he feels like a child whose father should listen to, he feels bad, he feels dizzy, but someone walks into his office. Things take time, even confrontations have their place After that brief confrontation he immediately collapses in this office just every emotion that was flaring in his mind immediately dies and he is just so tired, he doesn’t want to be at site 1 anymore, he wants to see Jack, he wants to see Tj he wants to see the people who cares for him but right now he has to suck it up as usual, he still has work to do here, he is still busy with paperwork and such but he knows at any moment 12 is going to be rushing back to drill him again and I don’t think he can mentally prepare himself but he needs to be the shield so that Adam doesn’t go looking for either Jack, Tj, or god forbid Kondraki, because no matter how confident that guy is an o5 has so much power and one order can be the end for him Jan 24 ///
I think we can all agree Adam Bright isn’t the most, shall we say, well-adjusted, stable, or introspective person. So after being beaten up and humiliated in front of his coworkers, by his employee, and having his oldest child (something that is his) call his attacker ‘dad’, he’s going to start harshly demanding answers. And the closest person to corner and demand answers from is Mikell. And I’m pretty sure at that point Kon will nuke him from orbit
God Adam going to find Mikell and is just start bombarding him with questions (this is probably one of the only few times they have ever talked that is not work related) and Mikell is frozen solid, he wants to yell and scream so badly at this man, vent all the frustration that he went through since childhood what his siblings had to go through but he just can’t get all the words out of him just emotions and words swirling in his brain but nothing comes out of his mouth Jan 24 //
Kon: don’t worry I’ll bring you along next time Cause we all know Adam Bright deserves more than one beating, even if he doesn’t do anything stupid to provoke it (which is pretty much guaranteed to happen)
Adam Bright: exists Everyone: Shut up old man we are going to break your kneecaps Jan 24 //
Consider: Mikell coming out as gay to Kondraki after having repressed it so long due to internalized homophobia
Oh Kondraki knows that feeling well (he grew up very old school and still struggles with it alot even now) but Kon is just so proud of Mikell and the fact Mikell felt comfortable enough with Kondraki to tell him first out of everyone felt amazing cause it shows he is making big progress here the eldest Bright sibling Jan 24 //
Kondraki saw an opportunity, made the most of it, and had his way. I wonder what Clef thought if he found out what her husband did
Honestly I think Clef would yell at Kon, not because he was pissed that Kondraki did that but because he wasn’t there to witness that and to also join in Clef, he wanted so badly to punch an o5 in his lifetime (its like on his bucket list) Jan 24 //
It gives me something to think that the only almost real conversations that Mikell had with his father was when he became an o5, it is not that it was the best of experiences, he had to be strong during those moments and with strong we already know what we mean, which brought us to Mikell and Jack's much needed therapy
If they had worked together in the council I really don’t think they would have been very close or anywhere near with a father son relationship, it would have really been work orientated their conversations and if you saw those two you wouldn’t at all think they were related (outside from sharing some physical features)
_even now they were able to talk to eachother and see eachother it would have felt like talking to a stranger its really suffocating to Mikell cause he is so full of different emotions that he doesn't know how to deal with but he has to separate his work from his private life so he just talks to him as o5-6 rather than his son Jan 24 // Headcanon: Simon is also bi! He didn’t figure it out until after he started working at the foundation tho. He came out to Rights and Kon first because they were like a mom and dad figure for him, and they both hugged him and told him how proud they were of him. :)
Simon's the only functional bi at the Foundation
Glass is really the only functional bi here and Kon and Rights are proud of him
_oh the rest of the 'kids' coming out to rights and kon first cause they know those two are welcoming and it just gives them more courage to make it public to their friends/coworkers/etc
Jan 24 // Bi ice- Bice
Nice // Ice 🤝 Konny - being a disaster bi
Yes but also not recommending to put a bi twink and bear in close proximity cause they will attack eachother on sight Jan 24 // Monarch; for both the king title and the butterfly
Oh wow that is a perfect name for him Jan 24 // after what happened with his biological father and his now father, Mikell goes with Glass to tell him what happened and how he feels about it "Mikell, you have thought by chance that maybe nobody really likes your father and that's why they overlooked the theme of the meeting? "
I think the scene of Kondraki straight up knocking out o5-12 while the rest of the o5 council cheers on is what is really going to stick with Mikell for the rest of his life Jan 24 // Addition to that idea: Glass didn’t even know that Kon was bi too, and was actually a bit scared to come out since he had never done so before! But then Kon gave him his support and told him it was all okay and Glass was relieved.
Bi solidarity! Jan 24 //
Konny is already a disaster bi so he would be a disaster o5
He is the same disaster but now with the highest position in his work place, nothing is holding him back anymore Jan 24 //
Kon becomes an O5 because "if someone's bold enough to attack one of us they clearly deserve the spot"
Oh god please no, I don’t think Kon by any means is going to function as an o5 well. O5 Kondraki is a disaster in the making Jan 24 // after the fight Kondraki looks at all of you "you weren't saying something about being a good example" the response he got was "oh yeah, we left that meeting for next week, we let you pass just this time"
The rest of the o5 just slowly approving of Kon Mikell is currently screaming internally cause, ‘what the fuck just happened Jan 24 //
They call Right to tell him that Jack was fighting, before the call ends and Right is at the place asking where they have Jack
Oh boy Rights is absolutely terrifying when it comes to one of her kids and she will go insane if anything bad were to happen to them Jan 24 //
It is not in the photo, in the drawing, or in their lives hahahaha
Oh damn! Jan 24 //
Konny tried to fight addam infront of the entire council and they cheer konny on
Get his ass! Jan 24 //
Oh oh idea- Adam is O5-12 in this and is shocked to hear Mikell call Konny “Dad”, and Konny takes the opportunity to call him the fuck out for being such a shitty father.
Kon is absolutely smug about this and he is going to put o5-12 on blast here in front of the whole council He then pulls out a picture of all of the bright siblings together with him and the rest of the fam and just goes, ‘huh I don’t see you in the family photo Jan 24 //
They tell him in Kondraki that Jack was fighting with someone "and who won?"
Ah Kondraki, he doesn’t care why the fight started he just wants to know if he won and you gotta love the priority here Jan 24 //
Kondraki meets with the o5s for a meeting and Mikell immediately says “hi Dad” without realizing it when Konny walks in. The other o5s are very surprised to say the least!
Adsgdf I think it’s even better thinking that the reason Kon was called in was because he was going to get scolded by the o5 for some insane thing he did and now Mikell can not continue this anymore cause the rest of the o5 are now referring Dr. Kondraki as Cowboy’s father and how he needs to set a better example for his son
Jan 24
//
Wait I think I'm late, did Jack join the Kondraki family?
Yeah pretty much along with Mikell We’ve gone through the point of the Bright siblings fighting over Tj with the ClefKondraki fam to then trying to repair their relationships to eachother then to all of them going to therapy with Glass, Kondraki, and Clef and just kinda revealing how fucked up all of them grew up and Kondraki at this point decides to straight up be their parental figure along with the help of Rights cause they really need one Jan 23 //
Kondraki invites Jack to go on a camping trip with him! A whole father-son bonding thing. Jack and Kondraki drag Mikell along with him.
Hell yeah, those two had never really went camping and once Kondraki found that out he immediately is planning on dragging those two out (even if he has to create a scene to get o5-6 cowboy to leave his office) Jan 23 //
Addams family but its kondraki and his gangle of kids (ok mostly the random sword fighting thing but s t i l l)
Hey don’t forget Rights now she is the mother of these wild kids too Jan 23 //
Life skills Kondraki considers essential: lock picking, proficiency in at least one weapon (at least a pistol or a knife), how to cheat at pretty much any card game, how to eavesdrop without giving yourself away, swearing in at least four languages
What more could you ask your dad to teach you! Jan 23 // What I’m getting from that is, Kondraki makes sure all of his children, no matter what age they are when he adopts them, knows how to pick locks
It is an absolute essential skill in life and Kondraki is going to have all the kids be experts in lock picking no matter what Jan 23 //
Jack one day "Dad, can I go out for a drink with my friend?" Kondraki takes his eyes off his work and looks at the other who tries not to laugh "don't drive drunk, wear a belt, if they arrest you I'll look for you tomorrow"
This feels more like a conversation with mom rights than with dadraki, kon is just going to be ‘go right ahead, if you get into any fights a good kick in their junk will be good enough and if someone tries to arrest you carry some bobby pins to pick the handcuffs you know how to pick locks by now Jan 23 // Jack at some point ends up accepting Papa Kon, Mama Right (much therapy later) but Clef is still his friend "my friend goes out with my dad"
Jack just lets this happen because he has seen other people try and get away from the ‘Foundation Parents’ and always fail and just there is Clef. God this man doesn’t have any parental instincts at all and Jack is glad he is still his normal(?) coworker/friend cause I don’t think anyone can mentally deal with dad Clef at all Jan 23 //
Mikell is definitely the most awkward out of the two, and also the most baffled. With Jack, the fact he Kon and Clef have a friendship helps, it’s a groundwork for Kon to build off of, with Rights being a more obvious attempt to parent drawing Jack’s attention away, so long as he plays it slow and careful, he can build up the care without Jack really noticing what’s happening until it’s already started feeling more natural to him. A lot of caution is still needed, especially after that point and Jack’s grown wise to his tricks, but the base layer is at least already there. Mikell is a whole other story. Mikell has had anyone care for him since he was in the single-digit age range and really doesn’t know how to react to someone trying to take a parental role. Add in the fact that Kon is his employee and Mikell has had precisely zero good parental figures before, and it’s not good times. There’s also a definite thread of bafflement and distrust in this though, even as Mikell does what Mikell does best and tries to push/drive Kon away. Why is he doing this? Weren’t they fighting over TJ not long ago; why did it change from that to this? Is this deception; what does he really want? What are you seeing that you think is worth caring about? Good thing Kon is a stubborn man. He’s going to get through, one way or another.
Let’s go Dadraki!! Jan 23 // everyone simultaneously comfort and bully jack - wc
Yup, and so will I
_i can honestly flip from wanting to drip kick bright to saying if anything bad happens to them i will kill everyone here Jan 23 // SCP therapy session but just for traumatized children (and adults with childhood trauma). Alright, can everyone in the auditorium hear me? Yes? Let's start then
Yes auditorium, we have no office big enough
We got to get a bigger building here cause not even an auditorium will be enough
Jan 23 // I imagine Jack riding a bike and then he takes his hands off the wheel and says "look Mikell! no hands!" only to then crash and before Mikell can go to see his little brother, Right was next to Jack checking how he was, mom powers hahahaha
Asdfg Jack just falls straight into a ditch and Mikell is there calling him a dumbass but all the while trying to help him up and Rights is there smiling Jan 23 //
Clef has a hard time parenting to others, but he makes the effort, is valued, and understood. Kondraki has a list of "I want to hit them" and if they are dead "I will resurrect them just to kill them myself" they all have the number 1 position, what would make you priority is that you appear
Yeah I just don’t think Clef has that parental instinct in him no matter how much he cares for the kids it just not happening but he still tries when the time comes for it just thinking, “What would I do if I were Konny or Rights”. And for Kondraki he has that list absolutely memorized, who they are, what they did, and how he is absolutely going to murk them Jan 23 //
Mikell one day with a good advance in his therapy calls Kondraki "Dad" by accident, words that have not sincerely come out of his mouth in years, he almost does not remember when. Kondraki just smiles at him and walks out while Mikell is embarrassed. those videos don't exist, Mikell kept the evidence
Dadraki has broken through Mikell Jan 23 //
Anonymous asked: Kon starts doing little things to try and care for the older Bright brothers, trying to nudge them into better selfcare habits or attempting to sus out preferences or trying to coax them into being comfortable enough with him that every brush against a childhood wound doesn’t send them into a defensive mode that puts cornered wounded animals to shame. It’s only mildly awkward considering one is his long-time coworker and the other is technically his boss.
Oh I can imagine how awkward all of this is to Konny especially to Mikell who 1. Is an o5 and is way higher in power and can probably order any command he wanted and 2. Mikell was the oldest meaning he never had anyone to look after him and the exchange is so weird Rights is definitely there helping Kondraki out in looking after them too (power mom/dad duo never fails)
Jan 23 //
Kondraki goes into group therapy prepared to defend his adoption of his newest child to their blood family, and comes out turning to Clef saying ‘we are adopting two more children. And they are going to be our toughest challenge yet.’
Afdyhgsh Clef this poor man, his husband keeps picking up people to be their kids left and right Jan 22 //
Absolutely 100% about the food thing. The Bright siblings will eat anything, whether they love it or hate it, and will always eat everything on their plate, even if it’s too much for them. Expiration dates are a suggestion, not a rule. It takes a lot of willpower to stop themselves from gorging on food, because back then food was scarce and you had to eat what you could when you could cause who knew when you’d get more, but that’s not a good mindset in any healthy lifestyle, and especially not when you’ve got easy access to a 24-hour cafeteria. Food wastage is a huge taboo for them; leftovers are never thrown out, always stored and used. For the other anon who asked how I write so much: emotionally? Daydreaming stories and scenarios is a big part of who I am. Physically? I’m on mobile
Oh definitely and when they first saw the site cafeteria they cried of how much food that was provided for them and just eating it as if it was the best thing they have eaten (which is probably true) Jan 22 //
Anonymous asked: Benjamin Kondraki repeatedly takes out Adam Bright’s kneecaps (ASMR)
If Adam wasn’t already dead he would have bashed him over the head Kondraki adding him to the list of people he needs to beat up, right next to L*lly Jan 22 //
Jack and Mikell end up pulling worse and worse stuff from there childhood and nobody can keep up but all agree that more therapy is needed
They are just there going ‘where the actual fuck was the child protective services???’ Jan 22 //
Imagine group therapy between the ‘adults’ after the picture thing, with Glass trying to mediate what everyone’s trying to get out of this. Somehow bits and pieces of the Brights awful childhood start coming out, and (probably during another spat between Jack and Mikell) Mikell essentially forced into being a teen parent to his siblings comes out in one big dump, and Kon’s just ‘hold on, back up there a moment, what did I just hear?’
I don’t think anyone really are going to predict what happened to the Brights by a long shot Jan 22 //
Okay so I lied but this isn’t a childhood one and it’s only short, so I’m not counting it. All the Bright siblings, but especially Mikell and Jack, have problems with throwing things away as adults. It had been ingrained in them for so long to keep everything because it might be useful for something and they had so little to begin with, that it is a mentally distressing event to throw away anything, not matter how tattered broken torn and/or useless it is.
Oh yeah definitely and also going to the site cafeteria and seeing people throw away food absolutely hurts them even at times yelling at the person who threw it away. They are also so comfortable with eating food no matter where it has been, dropped food means nothing and they will just pick it up and eat it without a second thought and sometimes they see food in the trash that is still perfectly good and their coworkers have to stop them from basically dumpster diving on site whenever they see something that is still edible Jan 22 //
I like to think that Mikell doesn't know how to ride a bicycle, so he offers Jack and TJ to teach them how to ride a horse, when TJ asks him if he can ride a bicycle (this time) to be honest and he says no. I have the mental image of TJ teaching Jack and Mikell to ride a bike, because he was so excited that Draven taught him and Kon took many photos of the process and the results, there is one of Clef holding him to calm him down because he fell, Meri pat him
This is such a cute image!! Just having Mikell teaching both Tj and Jack horse back riding, something he still enjoys since childhood and in return Tj teaching both of them how to ride a bike. Mikell and Jack being absolutely horrible at it and Tj is there laughing while also making sure they don’t fall in a ditch (something he might have done too when trying to learn with the clefkondraki fam) and just for the first time in so long they actually felt like kids again. Then Jack who doesn’t really have anything to teach them felt so left out trying to think about the things he could do too and just is crying cause ‘oh no am I a boring person???’
Jan 22 //
TJ will continue to be happy as long as he maintains contact with his family. so choosing to abandon him would be more for Mikell an unconscious way of running away and Jack knows it, but now he is not going to allow him to distance himself again, he already made that mistake before and now that he has the opportunity he will not allow it again. regardless of the fact that they did not have the parents of the year, now that they are adults it is their job to fix this mess that their parents caus
YEAH YOU UNDERSTAND ME. What happened to them was terrible, they were young and put in a stressful situation but now they are older and a bit wiser, they can fix what happened to eachother, it will be painful at first but they will get better Jan 22 //
(when they are ready) it would take time to help them live with the past and have something better in the future, but in the long run the rewards are better and it is worth it
Yeah! Right now it is a bumpy road trying to smooth things with eachother but they are going to get there Jan 22 //
the children that mikell cared so much to care for are now out of his care … damn, this hit me ugly, on the one hand I want their parents to suffer! I want Right to adopt them when they are willing to accept "a mother figure" that is decent, that Kon shows some traces of father, sneaky but noticeable when they are ready, that Glass hugged them, Gears understands them, he has other problems, damn negligence! READY! ALL TO GROUP THERAPY!
Group therapy lets go!! Jan 22 //
part one: The one who wrote so much please share your secret, I have limit to write; -; On the other hand, we went from "how beautiful TJ draws his family" to addressing problems of abandonment, absent parents (regardless of their reasons), having to grow up fast for the good of all but losing a lot of yourself
We are just exploring everything we got for these guys cause I am a sucker for in depth character analysis but yeah this is probably why the Foundation has psychologists, it really isn’t easy for a person to look at their past especially if what happened felt like it was a normal thing until told otherwise Jan 22 //
Okay, last one, otherwise I’ll wind up stitching all of these together into a full story of the sad and tragic childhood of the Brights.
It is a nauseous guilt that haunts him for decades, but when Mikell first hears that Sarah is stillborn, the first thing he feels is relief. It’s awful and horrible and he tears himself up over it because ‘that’s his baby sister’, but it’s the truth. Since he’d found out that his mother was pregnant again, he’d been dreading the day she’d be born. He’d already known he would be the one raising her, there was no point in trying to lie to himself about that. Their mother had waited all of a week after Claire’s birth to disappear, and in that time he could count how often she held the new baby on his fingers, never mind cared for her. Their father had shown up for all of fifteen minutes before leaving again. There was no doubt that the moment Sarah was born, she would be dropped into his arms and their parents would be gone again. And that would be just the first in the inevitable domino falling.
Babies needed constant attention and caring. There was no way he’d be able to keep on working as an agent while looking after a newborn. Which means he would have to quit, and with that would go the pay that had been keeping his family afloat. He’d have to pick up multiple other jobs again, whichever ones would be willing to hire someone who didn’t complete school and would be carrying a baby with him everywhere. Those wouldn’t be good jobs, and that meant they’d have to go back to their pre-agent ways of surviving, only now it was going to be even worse, cause they were barely holding it together before but now they’d have one more mouth to feed and babies are expensive, and the closer they got to the due date the more Mikell found himself laying awake at night trying to piece together how he was going to make this work and arriving at suffocating panic each time because he couldn’t find a way.
So when he got the news, the first thing to hit him was the realisation that none of what he’d been worrying about was going to happen, and the immediate relief that brought him. It was quickly followed by disgust for himself, but that couldn’t change the relief that still clung to him. He does his best to keep his siblings hidden and out of the way, as their mother mourns in her bedroom which hasn’t been touched in years, and as their father stomps around the house like a man who lost his last shreds of sanity. That last part makes something ugly curl in Mikell’s chest; he’s never shown anything like that towards any of his living children, would he really only start to care if they died? Claire has seen her parents all of three times in her life, and so she watches with disdain at these intruders in her home. TJ only has faint fuzzy memories of them, and isn’t much better. Even Jack, who can at least somewhat remember a time where their parents weren’t gone for years on end, is tense and uneasy. For as far as the siblings are concerned, these may as well be strangers in their home. It would all blow over eventually, Mikell was sure of it. Eventually, their mother and father would disappear back to where they came from, and the siblings would have their house back again, no longer needing to walk on eggshells or hide themselves away in the furthest rooms. But work didn’t wait for that, and Mikell had a mission. He left his siblings tucked away out of sight, said he wouldn’t be long and reminded them to make sure to stay out of their father’s way. It’d be alright, it’d be over soon, he was sure. They just needed to keep themselves safe and not draw attention to themselves until Mikell returned. He left with an uneasiness, but certain that it would only be temporary. Soon enough, their parents would go, and things would return to normal. And that’s when things went to hell
Absolutely obsessed with this, this is so good!! God what I wouldn’t give for a bright sibling story with the point of view of Mikell Jan 22 // Another headcanon, but I don’t think Mikell became a foundation agent because it was expected of the family or wanting to follow in his parents’ footsteps or anything like that; it was because of money. He was a high school dropout, still not even an adult yet, working 2-3 jobs and supplementing with shoplifting and whatever charity he could guilt out of their neighbours, and it was still just not enough to keep himself and three younger siblings afloat. Then he’s approached by the foundation cause he’s relatively fit and has a good handle on guns and with who his parents are it’s not considered a risk, and all he can find himself looking at in the paperwork is the salary amount. Claire is just old enough that he can get her into the youngest level of schooling if he fudges her paperwork a bit. If he can get his siblings up in the morning, send them off to school, and each has an after-school activity of some kind, that gives him 6-7 hours of time before he has to go pick them up and the foundation says they can work with that limitation. What they don’t mention are the nightmares that start waking him up in a cold sweat, the way it gets harder to touch his siblings because he feels like he’ll taint them, the time Jack found him washing his hands over and over and over again at the sink at 2am in a trance until his skin was red raw and Mikell doesn’t even remember getting out of bed. But he can’t quit, because for the first time in a very very long time, all their bills are somewhat up to date, he was able to get clothing for his siblings that wasn’t repaired hand-me-downs, they finally can afford enough food that he doesn’t have to skip meals to make sure the others get enough to eat. So he stays quiet and toughs it out. Because, what other choice does he have?
Holy shit AAA. I think once Mikell started to be able to get money and able to buy better things for his siblings it felt like it a normal family but Jack of course knew something was up. They are getting way more expensive things than what Mikell could have afford even if he saved up for months. And the fact he sees Mikell’s personality change so much and how jumpy he’s become. Jack tried so many times asking where all of this money is coming from because it is terrifying him, Tj and Claire are happy about getting new things and so is Jack but not in the expense of his brother changing so much. He wants to stop Mikell from doing whatever he was doing to get all this money cause it was clearly hurting Mikell but it was the first time in their lives where they didn’t have to eat scraps or steal or be huddled up together shivering to keep warm in the night. So he doesn’t say anything. Jack tries so hard to graduate as fast as he can, get a good job, be there to share the burden for Mikell so he could once in his life to just relax and to take care of himself instead of worrying about them Jan 22 //
you ever think how mikell kinda interalized his childhood and assumed this was just how family works till he starts getting help and has that moment of no, this wasnt normal or something he should have had to deal with. that he should have been allowed to be a kid, thats hes allowed to be upset that he lost so much
Oh yeah definitely but it would be so hard to recognize that what he went through was not normal, cause I think whenever he has told people as a kid that he was the one to look after his siblings in their parent’s place all the adults would praise him and say how wonderful and responsible he is for his age. It was all praise for him that he grew up so fast and that he was like an adult, they never told him that he should have act like a kid or to enjoy his childhood And he is just so angry about everything but he is most angry at himself, but even now he really doesn’t know what he could have done differently, it was needed for him to grow up fast right? He couldn’t rely on anyone else he had to take up the responsibilities here right? Someone tell him his actions were justified Jan 22 //
Almost all the brights need a hug (addam and evelyn need hit with a chair)
100% agree with you anon
_what the actual hell were their parents even doing??? they just straight up neglected their kids???? neglect is a form of abuse and i want to hit them for all of the trauma they put on the siblings Jan 22 // Anonymous asked: Sometimes we do not know how much we are alike or learned from our parents or guardians until we learn to recognize it, Mikell wanted to do a better job and take care of them, but even they are with them he became absent in some way, this revelation begins with a nice drawing from TJ, because otherwise he might never have noticed it or it would have taken him longer. I want TJ and Meri to learn to ride a bike
Oh loving this! It’s really not just with Mikell but also with Jack, the fact that now they finally realize how distant they are to eachother hit them hard cause what the hell were they doing for all of their childhood for. They all cared for eachother but just as time went one they all started to fall from eachother thinking that they were still protecting eachother and now they are looking back to see how far they went their separate ways Also yes Tj and Meri learning how to ride a bike! (I want Mikell to try and teach Tj and Jack how to ride a horse) Jan 22 //
Things that Mikell is good at that become sad when you think about his childhood: he can sew really well and can restore clothing from any state that’s better than scraps, he’s really good at budgeting and making minimal resources last as long as possible, he knows how to make as many meals as possible from limited ingredients, he can work through the hunger pangs of skipped meals, it’s very rarely seen in the present time but he can calm down fussy toddlers with surprising efficiency, he’s an expert at multitasking and finding opportunities to slot in extra work, he can push himself through any illness or injury that isn’t hospital worthy and even then he’ll try
Aaah Mikell he had to become so reliable in such a short time in order to survive and now I am just thinking is this why he got hired as an o5 because of how much he pushed himself and how hard working he is Jan 22 //
Mikell doesn’t hear the term ‘parentification’ or what it means until the incident with the picture and talking to Glass. He spends the next few days hiding in his office and not seeing anyone as he tries to process that
That! I was looking for that word thank you anon. Mikell at a young age really had to try to grow up so quickly in order to take care of his younger siblings. He did all of that unconsciously and he had pushed Jack away multiple times whenever he tried to help Mikell to lessen the burdens but of course Mikell didn’t listen to him just telling Jack to just focus on going to school, to keep living as they always has done But now Mikell is really looking back at their childhood and how he lost so much of himself to try and keep everything under control which didn’t work out at all and it hurt everyone he cared about in the end
_Glass finding that Mikell has not left his office after their meeting and has Jack to go and visit him maybe now jack and mikell can actually talk about their past and clear things up
Jan 22 //
Glass, he does have a lot of work to do with both of them. Kondraki and Clef usually charge TJ to hang their drawings in their offices, this applies to their four children, Jack and Mikell start having drawings in their office since they slowly try to create a relationship with TJ. With the young Mikell taking care of his family, I imagine that without knowing he is copying the behavior of his absent parents, which is not talking
Yeah! Jack and Mikell slowly getting closer to Tj and it is evident with the drawings they have in their offices. And oh young Mikell..he is really trying to fill the role of their absent parents so badly, he wants Jack and Tj to live comfortably but he is following in their parent’s footsteps and began to distant himself. I think even now he has a bad habit of not telling them things and putting a wall in between them and carrying the responsibilities all himself which I mean look at him now and how that is going for him, it really just made him so distant between him and his siblings and they act so much like strangers especially when they see eachother in the Foundation ask anon mikell Jan 22 // Personal headcanon of mine incoming: Mikell wound up having to drop out of school as a teenager to try and keep up with caring for his siblings. There was a period where it looked like Jack might have to as well and it led to a lot of fights between him and Mikell, with Mikell trying to get him to stay in no matter what cause Jack was smart, Jack got good grades, Jack actually had a chance to do something with his life, Jack could not drop out of school. And Jack pushing back that Mikell’s growing even more distant, he’s working himself to death trying to hold this together, dammit Mik why won’t you just tell me what’s going on?
Oh!! This is really good They both really care about their family but Mikell’s stubbornness keeps getting in the way. Mikell really wants Jack and Tj to live a normal life, go to school, have fun, actually have a place they can come home to and he is taking all the responsibilities on himself because ‘I am the eldest and I have to protect my younger siblings and to make sure they can live out a normal life and not burden them’ he really tries to let them live blissfully ignorant but that just made Jack and him more distant because Jack knows something is up and Mikell can’t keep this up anymore cause fuck he is still a kid, he is starting to feel things are spiraling out of his control and he is going to break down sooner or later
_mikell wants jack and tj to live a life that he couldn't he has good intentions but the way he is going about doing it is just tearing the bonds he has with his siblings
Jan 22 //
Maybe not soon siblings at one time, but it can be in any other position such as being an uncle or friends, but starting from scratch and creating new ties. For this reason, I do not stop liking the idea of asking nicely to be drawn by TJ, imagine that he likes to draw and that someone asks him to be drawn by him and then congratulate him, maybe it will make him happy, have a start
Yeah you are 100% right on that, starting from the beginning is tough but for now it’s just baby steps and I am loving the idea of them growing closer to ask to see if Tj would draw for them, just small things to begin with (foods, animals, favorite characters) and just giving him compliments on them and in return they would both draw something for Tj to have And I think the final step in all this is just asking if Tj would drawn them but I think they are both going to hold off on that because they are scared that Tj is going to refuse, them not being drawn in a simple picture really was what brought all this and the realization they were just drifting apart from eachother to almost to the point of strangers hit them hard but I really think if those two grow closer to Tj, Tj would totally be down to do it, but it really is just Mikell’s and Jack’s insecurity that is preventing them from asking Jan 22 //
not only if they talk or not, it is also if they really want to try to create a family relationship (with Glass's guidance, of course) or let Tj continue his life feeling happy sharing with his new family that they make him feel loved. change is a process. I don't know why I thought of Glass suggesting to Mikell that he ask TJ to draw it, to see how his little brother sees it
Loving all of this, I think those three really need to talk things out whether they try and repair their once family or not, because really when was the last time the three of them got together as siblings and just talked. Though for Mikell I think he would be in the mindset of ‘Tj has better people who actually takes care of him I don’t think it is good for me to interact with him and just leave him with them’ but Jack is just pissed at him 'Whether or not Tj accepts us anymore as family at least we can be there for him’ It’s just small steps now, to see if Tj will open up to them again but it really is up to Tj if he wants to see Mikell and Jack as part of his family or to separate from them because honestly if Tj is happy that is good enough for them
_glass really coming in as the mvp of all this Jan 22 //
You know what I am putting my tags here cause YEAH THE BRIGHT SIBLINGS GOT A FUCKED UP CHILDHOOD They were forced to grow up so fast, Mikell really did try to take care of his younger siblings at the house but fuck he was still a kid and having to be responsible for them is stressful. He didn’t really know what he was doing or how to provide for them but he didn’t want Jack or Tj to worry so he never said anything to them which only led to miscommunication especially to Jack who didn’t understand why his brother is becoming so distant and just became so irritated since Mikell would never tell him anything And for Tj he was too young to really understand what was going on, there was too much of an age difference compared to Jack and Mikell for him to comprehend the situation but the environment felt stressful. Younger kids are so sharp when it comes to changes and he knew something was wrong, but he was terrified to ask what was happening Just all this miscommunication just led to more miscommunications and they became more distant to eachother and now they are kids who grew up as adults who lost their innocence of childhood too young
_bright siblings analysis time!! adam and evelyn just straight up neglected their own kids i think a big part of why Tj got so attached to the whole clefkondraki family is just they had something that he never had growing up which was an actual family mikell was always away and jack became more stressed and distant because of mikell and tj was just alone not understanding but with them it is always lively as draven meri and 408 all look after him like siblings and clef and kon acts like parental figures to hi its like an actual family tj lucked out here but for mikell and jack they couldnt really find any semblance of family or do they really look for one as they just bury themselves in work Jan 22 //
The the-bright-siblings-got-handed-a-fucked-up-childhood-that-is-still-affecting-them-as-adults squad
YEAH YOU GET ME!!
_all of them were really victims of neglect and just them having to change so quickly and grow up does something to a person Jan 22 //
I have gone from laughing that Jack and Mikell do not appear in the drawings, to understanding the child, now we go to the part where Tj no longer feels alone, now he is loved in a family that does with its time and situation everything possible for give sincere love and affection. Who Glass deals with now hahahaha
This is just a wild ride and I honestly do not know how we got to this point but I’m not complaining because I am invested in this story of Tj getting a loving family but now it really is just up to Mikell and Jack to actually take Glass’s advice to talk to Tj
_i really think the bright siblings should at least try to feel like a family for once with no talk of the Foundation or anything like that they all really have been part of neglect bc of their parents and just thrown into the world of all these anomalies yeah they really couldnt bond like normal siblings/family the bright siblings just got kinda fucked up at a young age (this is my canon and i get to say what happened to pre foundation bright family)
Jan 21 //
Glass is going to have to explain to them how expressive children tend to be with their drawings and that if he does not see them as a family it is because of something they do or have done, so pleading with Clef and Kondraki is irrelevant since they do. they make you feel like a family which is good for Tj
Yeah I think at this point Jack and Mikell need to talk to eachother about Tj. I honestly don’t think they are upset that Tj thinks of Clef and Kondraki as his family rather they are upset that he doesn’t see them as family anymore which to be honest those two really are kinda shit siblings to begin with, yeah prefoundation days they were pretty close but now not so much Mikell is off doing o5 stuff, Jack doing is own things, and Tj is just stuck there alone in a containment cell. But Tj now has people who are like him (Meri and 408) and a big brother who looks out for him (Draven) and just Clef and Kondraki just take care of him at first because how much he hangs out with their kids but now counts him as their own and Tj just feels loved there, being in an environment where he actually has some parental figures in his life cause god Evelyn and Adam didnt do shit
_all the love for Glass for telling those two why Tj is acting like that and just analyzing the whole situation with so little information because jack and mikell are not going to be coherent trying to explain anon im really thinking about this alot deeper what have you done //
“Tj is from our family!" kondraki shows them a drawing "how strange, I don't see them anywhere in this drawing, or anywhere else" there are family drawings and another that says "my favorite brothers" neither Jack nor Mikell appear
Asdgff I think we all know who lost in this argument Jan 21 //
Tj, grabbing Draven’s and Meri’s arm with a smug face: They are my new siblings now Jack and Mikell, turning to Clef and Kondraki: TJ IS OUR FAMILY Clef and Kondraki: Well I don’t see you two in the family drawings Jan 21 // ty for the glassy boy ilu sm- also everyone laugh at jack cus his brother doesnt like him - wc
Bright is fucking sobbing in the corner like a loser Jan 21 // I imagine Jack in Glass's office with a drawing on his hand complaining, Glass at first thinks the drawing is very cute, until he notices the problem. Right has a wall with thank you notes, letters, and pictures from your children. Mikell also goes with Glass because Tj keeps making family drawings where he doesn't appear
Yeah!! Bright family disaster and the two of them go to Glass rather than actually complaining to Clef and Kondraki Jan 21 //
when Jack realizes that it doesn't appear in the picture "Tj, don't you think you're forgetting someone?" the little boy looks at him surprised and then he checks his drawing worried "Meri, 408, Draven, Papa Kon, Papa Clef, I … no, are we all" "sure?" "yes" "sure, sure?" "yes!" "Tj, are you very sure that nobody is missing in your drawing?" "I'm very sure that we are all"
IM OBSESSED WITH THIS, Tj knows exactly what he is doing and just Jack is losing his baby brother to his two friends and he just goes to them and just whines about it nonstop And I would just love to see Kondraki’s and Clef’s office walls filled with all the kid’s drawings (all variety of pencil sketches, crayon, little 408 ‘finger’ drawings, etc) Jan 21 // I imagine Jack in Glass's office with a drawing on his hand complaining, Glass at first thinks the drawing is very cute, until he notices the problem. Right has a wall with thank you notes, letters, and pictures from your children. Mikell also goes with Glass because Tj keeps making family drawings where he doesn't appear
Yeah!!
Bright family disaster and the two of them go to Glass rather than actually complaining to Clef and Kondraki Jan 21 // Projecting onto Clef, who is probably the Devil, and saying he's left handed - wc
That…that is really fitting for some reason Jan 20 //
TJ took shots and one-hit K.O’d
Mikell and Jack are just fucking annihilated on the spot Jan 20 // Tj: I drew a picture of my family since I care about them alot
Jack and Mikell: Aw Tj!!
Tj, showing a picture of Clef, Kondraki, Draven, Meri, and 408
Jack and Mikell:
_I forgot how much i love the idea of tj being adopted into the clefkondraki family
//
I thought about 590 he found out about the problem with L*lly through his brothers and then he goes to Clef and hugs him saying that he loves him very much and is the best father
YEAH!!
Clef is just so thrown off but he just accepts the hug (let clef get a group hug from his loving family)
_he isnt the best dad in the world but tj draven meri and 408 all still love him
Jan 20 // Thompson carries Mikell up in his arms, Black helping him adjust his hold so that Mikell is comfortable. “I’m fine, I swear,” Mikell lies despite how hard walking on his sprained ankle is. “You aren’t, sir. And it’s fine, our job is to keep you safe and healthy, and preventing you from walking on that ankle is part of it.” “That’s the professional answer. What’s the real one?” Mikell asks. Black reaches up to give Mikell a forehead kiss. “We love you very much and don’t want to see you hurt.”
!!!!! Feb 2 // Thompson and Black carrying Mikell into the O5 council meeting while acting like everything’s normal
The two are both trying to bridal carry Mikell and at this point I think all of the o5s are so use to it by now Feb 2 // How might BS story Mikell meeting Canon Konny turn out?
Oh christ, Canon Kon isn’t as friendly or has that ‘dad instinct’ as BS story Kon at all, he is the same gruff asshole who will murder a person without a second thought bastard we all know.
Mikell falling into this universe unknowingly and just finding out that something weird is going on and he doesn’t know what to do and so he goes to the person who he can rely on which is Kondraki. And just their meeting didn’t turn out well, Mikell expecting Kon to be the same person who had taken care of him and his siblings and played a parental role for them but is now being cursed at and he can feel a murderous intent staring right at him
_yeah canon konny doesnt like any of the o5s Feb 2 // BS Mikell is going to need a lot of care and reassurance once he goes back to his own world. The idea that it could have all been a dream, or that he was being tricked and none of it was ever real, is absolutely terrifying to him.
BS and Canon meet for a brief moment on their way switching back. BS feels pity for the version of him who never found a way out, a way to a better and happier life, while Canon shocks himself by realising he feels envy towards his counterpart. He was able to fix things, he was able to let go of the guilt and old lingering fears, he was able to find a way to get everything he wanted and more. The two are almost unrecognisable at this point. And canon can’t let go of himself enough to ask how he did it.
Yeah, Canon Mikell throughout that whole experience is just really shocked, he had always had thought that ‘this is how things turned out, its too late to fix it at this point’ and he was just wildly proven wrong and just BS Mikell sees a time where if he hadn’t changed what would had happened to himself and his siblings. Their experience was different in eachothers worlds
Feb 2 // Just reread the Mikell birthday thing and thought: Mikell doesn’t know his own birthday. With years and years passing by without ever really having anything to note the day, it just became unimportant information in his mind. He could tell you the month, maybe, and how many years old he is, but the exact day? No way
Oof yeah, birthdays for himself wasn’t really a day he celebrated or probably cared for that matter, he usually did something small for his sibling’s birthdays but for himself? Nope but when all of them decided to throw him a surprise birthday he had probably cried
Feb 2 //
Imagine the next Bright Family Reunion, with Adam mysteriously missing and the three brothers all close and happy again, and they’re all talking together about other members of their family (non-Brights!! Shock!!) and teasing Mikell over his new boyfriends and healthy relationship (double-shock!!). Everyone who’s not a part of the foundation, and even some that are, are completely baffled and maybe a little frightened by the changes; they have no idea what to make of it
I kinda want their new found family to join in the Bright family reunion at least one time. How amazing/chaotic all that would be
Feb 2
//
They absolutely could; with Adam gone, that leaves Mikell as the oldest male in the family. He could absolutely bring his new adopted family in to the reunion. Might be a one time only deal though; I think the shock of Mikell calling anyone ‘dad’ might be too much for some to handle
Also, I know Claire’s canonically dead by this point, but I wish she was alive just so she could scream “WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?! I LOOK AWAY FOR TWO SECONDS!”
Mikell, Tj, and Jack: WE GOT NEW FAMILY MEMBERS TO INTRODUCE
Kondraki: Hey I’m their dad
Every other Bright there:????? Feb 2 // Extra confusion from David and any other of Mikell’s children
Oh god Mikell’s kids, I totally blanked on David but yeah they are just, ‘What the hell?’
Feb 2 //
BSS! Mikell at the end of the day "very well, time is up, go back to the purgatory you came from before my family realizes it and make a fuss, I prefer my life here" enter TJ "… do I have other brothers?"
Both of the Mikells are just kinda standing there not knowing what to do, and Tj is just there wondering, ‘Ah wait there was two Mikells and not one? I didn’t know I had twin brothers!’ and Tj is just stressing thinking that the whole time he was interacting with a different Mikell each time they saw eachother Feb 2 // Oh gosh, the canon members meeting their BSS counterparts. My money is on the Jacks meeting being the most volatile.
I’m leaning more onto the Kondrakis (especially after how BSS Kon saw how coldly canon treats people/ his adopted family members, he is going to go feral)
Feb 2 // Meetings would be so sad for the TJs and Meris. Canon thems looking at their BSS versions and seeing how much better they have it? That’s going to really hurt
The Canons are all just a bunch of sad miserable people dear God. Tj never really sees any one and just Meri, I don’t think Clef even sees her face to face at all. They are both stuck in their containment cells
Feb 2 // Kondraki and Jack should not run into their Canon versions for security reasons. Glass and TJ make me curious
Yeah both versions of Kondraki and Jack are going to create a disaster
For Glass and Tj oh that would be interesting tho, both Glass are still somewhat the same in canon and in bss. While for Tj, I don’t think canon would even recognize most of the people there or even know what the hell is happening tbh Feb 2
// No se si seria cruel que Meri y TJ le den algunos de sus peluches a sus versiones canon. Los niños se sienten mal, esto esta fuera de sus limites de acción
I don’t know if it would be cruel for Meri and TJ to give some of their stuffed animals to their canon versions. Children feel bad, this is out of their limits of action
Oh the bs story Tj and Meri just keeping their canon versions company and I think it would be both kinda sweet and sad when they are gifted things from their alternative versions Feb 3 // Canon Thompson and Black meet BS Mikell and are so confused
Meanwhile Bs Thompson and Black meet Canon Mikell and immediately restrain him, demanding to know where the real Mikell, their beloved Mikell, is
Any meetings with the canons and the bs story characters are not going to end well at all
Feb 3 // Canon Mikell: “Hello-“ BS Thompson, immediately pointing a gun at his face: “Who are you and where is the real Mikell”
asdfdgh
_ the immediate reaction of knowing that it wasn't their Mikell
Feb 3
// Canon! Glass and Bs! Glass could talk about what happened in their lives, they are practically the same, so it would be the only non-disastrous encounter
It really would be the calmest conversation between the two versions, until bs story Glass drops in the fact that he was basically part of a coup that overthrew an o5 and destroyed their livelihood for eternity
Feb 3 // Bs! Glass helped to lay off one of his bosses, helped another and gave him drawings, he is the voice of reason although sometimes he has to go to Right when he does not feel well
This man has alot going for him
Feb 3 //
Tj: I drew a picture of my family since I care about them alot Jack and Mikell: Aw Tj!! Tj, showing a picture of Clef, Kondraki, Draven, Meri, and 408 Jack and Mikell: Jan 20 // Bss! Jack sometimes goes out with TJ to do some pranks, then he is joined by Draven and Mari. o5 calls Kondraki and Mikell about talking to Jack about being a good brother example
Jack is a questionable role model for Tj, Draven, and Meri
And I am going insane in thinking about the o5 calling in Kondraki to talk about their behavior like a school principal calling in the parent after their kids did something bad
Feb 9 ///
BSS!Kondraki play with your kids during the fall, they hide in piles of dry leaves, 408 is always the winner
408 is banned from playing hide n seek cause no one can ever find them and everyone struggles so badly
_408 is banned from playing hide and seek and also charades because they just turn into whatever they are given
Feb 9
//
Bss! Jack, one day he realizes that he knows how to braid hair, he decides to teach that to Mikell and TJ and he goes on to braid Draven and Meri's hair too, they walk with cute hair braids all week, he managed to make TJ and he braid Kon and have TJ make his father wear a pink bow, any comment on the bow leads to death
They all get matching braids! Kondraki is walking around site not wearing his hat that he always keeps on to show off his kid’s handiwork
I’m thinking about the siblings ambushing Clef too in trying to get to braid his hair no matter of how short his hair is (they are going to put hair extensions on him if it is needed)
Feb 13 // Bss! Mari looks for Jack to braid her hair before going to the aquarium
Aww Bright tries to learn as much braiding techniques and tries it out on Meri. She has so much hair and it’s always long so it is troublesome but Bright helps her out
He puts it up in a fish braid when they go to the aquarium with the rest of the fam and Bright is constantly showing off his craftsmanship
Feb 17 // Random idea: Sometimes (after the events of the BS story), Mikell gets nightmares about Adam
It’s still tough for Mikell, he has been through alot

(Continuation of this fanfic, again pretend it was posted yesterday lmao. Trigger warning for abuse and misgendering)
Jack had been waiting on the porch for roughly two hours now. During the first hour, his eyes had been firmly focused on the road, straining to see against the dark night if the next passing car was his father's, hoping that the next one would slow down and turn into their driveway. That enthusiasm slowly died down as time passed. Now, the middle Bright brother had been leaning against the railing for some time, looking down on the ground below him with his head resting on his hand, the light from his house only dimly illuminating the outside, he could barely spot the dark asphalt road just up ahead. Still, every time he heard the distant roar of the engine and the tires against the road, his head would perk up and he would look over, only to get disappointed once more as the car sped right past him.
He never got why Mikell liked dark, cold evenings so much. The crickets chirping were more irritating than anything, and you could only stare at the same starry sky so much before it became repetitive and boring, not to mention the annoying bugs trying to bite him. Jack much rather preferred staying inside, where it was warm and pleasant, with the yellow light illuminating everything perfectly, no scary dark corners or shadows to be found anywhere. He only ever liked staying on the porch if it were with his brothers.
The boy had long since lost sense of time and was about to head back home, when he heard yet another car, this time slowing down and pulling over into their dirt driveway. Jack's face lit up with the biggest grin and he practically jumped off the porch stairs as he saw his older brother come out of the car.
"Mikell!" He raced over, practically crashing into his brother and almost sending them both flying to the ground, thankfully for them both the older boy managed to catch himself on his crutches before he lost his balance.
Mikell wheezed as his brother made an impact with his chest and hugged him tightly, thankfully not too hard as to not hurt him...much. He visibly winced, but his expression softened as he looked down at the teen who had by now buried his face tightly against his older brother's chest.
"Ow, hey, asshole-" He patted Jack's shoulder. "Mind my ribs."
"Oh-" Jack pulled away slightly, his face flushing in embarrassment as he realised his mistake. "Sorry."
"Jennifer," Before Mikell could reply, their father's harsh tone had gotten both of their attention, Adam walking around the car towards them. "I thought I told you to be in bed before we came back."
"But, I- I wanted to see Mikell." Jack stammered out.
"And for fuck's sake, take that ridiculous hat off your head."
Before Adam could grab the cowboy hat, Mikell had already placed his hand on top of it, holding it firmly on his sibling's head as he met their father's gaze.
"I think it looks good on her."
Adam scoffed and turned back to his car, locking it. "Whatever. Just take the brat to her bed."
"Sure thing, your majesty." The eldest mocked before quickly hopping away on his crutches before their father could make a scene, Jack very quickly following him, leaving their parents to talk near the car alone.
As they neared the stairs, the younger boy started to pull the hat off of his head, only to have it firmly put back into place by his brother.
"You can keep it." Mikell pulled his hand away, grinning. "It suits you."
"It's a bit big for me, don't you think?"
"You'll grow into it." He carefully started to hop up the stairs.
"Or you just have a huge bubblehead."
Mikell laughed out as he stopped at the very top of the stairs, watching his brother climb up after him. "If you think some broken bones are going to keep me from drop-kicking a child down the stairs, you're wrong."
"I think you'd just fall over because of that massive head of yours if you tried."
"Why you-!"
Before he could grab him, Jack had already dived for the door, getting away from his brother as fast as possible.
"I think you'd be surprised how fast I can go on these crutches if you keep testing me, pipsqueak."
"Not fast enough, old man!" Jack stuck his tongue out at him and quickly disappeared into their house.
"Old?!" Mikell huffed, limping after him, squinting a bit as the warm yellow light hit his eyes. "I'm only twenty-two." He turned briefly to close the door behind him. He leaned against the wall, balancing mostly on his crutches as he managed to kick his shoe off.. "If you keep calling me old, you're setting yourself up for one hell of a life crisis in a few years."
He stood back up and hopped ahead towards his brother, but before Jack could even come up with a comeback, they were quickly cut off by a loud pair of footsteps coming towards them from the living room.
"Mikey!"
Mikell yelped as he had almost lost balance once more as he felt his youngest sibling crash into him, thankfully on the side of his healthy leg, and grip tightly onto his waist. He could only briefly look down at the small girl who had buried her face in his stomach before he remembered something, quickly bringing one of his crutches up, stopping TJ in his tracks as the boy almost rammed into the tip of it. A sense of dread creeped onto the eldest's expression.
"Don't."
TJ's face fell, though he stepped away, he knew more than enough what would happen if he made accidental skin contact with the man. "Sorry…"
Mikell put his crutch down with a soft tap as it hit the wooden floor, looking at his brother for a moment. He missed TJ a lot and he was sure the boy missed him too. He laid one hand on Claire's back, still looking at TJ, before he let out a long sigh. "Alright…but be very careful."
The youngest of the brothers lit up instantly, practically jumping over in excitement. Careful as to not touch Mikell's skin, the youngest boy wrapped his arms around him and nuzzled his face against his chest, with a bright smile on his face.
Mikell tried to relax into the hug, leaning back on his crutches and lifting his chin up, trying to make sure that TJ would not touch him. He let out a loud exhale, letting the tension leave his body as he closed his eyes, smiling just slightly. It felt so good to be back home, with his family. He missed the warm light and chatter, he missed their hugs and talking to them, he missed singing Claire to sleep, telling TJ stories and bickering with Jack. He missed it all, even the little annoyances.
"I missed you all too." His tone was soft and soothing, he gently ruffled Claire's hair and even hesitantly rubbed TJ's back as the two pulled away eventually. He slowly readjusted himself, pulling his crutches closer to his body so he could properly stand on them again. He then looked at the teen leaning against the wall and grinned. "Except for you, Jack, you're a nuisance."
"Hey!"
Mikell chuckled and gestured for his youngest siblings with one of his crutches, waving it towards upstairs. "Now come on, it's late and you two should have been in bed a long time ago."
TJ looked at his sister, walking ahead of her with a slight bounce to his step. "Hey Claire, wanna race me to your bedroom?"
"Yeah, yeah!" She giggled happily and ran ahead as fast as her little legs could carry her, her brother quickly gaining on her but sliding on the wooden floor just near the stairs, grabbing the railing to not fall on his face.
"Try not to hurt yourself, alright?" Mikell called out after them, a slight worry in his tone, but it's not like they were going to listen to him anyway. He limped along past Jack and the living room, heading towards the stairs as well.
Jack watched as his two younger siblings climbed up the stairs like a pair of rabid animals then glanced at his older brother with that usual bastard grin of his. "You need help going up the stairs, grandpa?"
Without a word, Mikell brought his crutch to his brother's shin, making him yelp loudly. He fell to his knees, gripping where his brother has hit him.
"Fuck!" He hissed, looking up at his brother who just snickered at his misery.
"That's what you get, I warned you already." There was a hint of amusement in Mikell's tone as he circled around the teen and continued on his way.
"You think you're gonna win this fight, mister cracked-ribs?" The boy quickly jumped up to his feet and raced ahead of Mikell, spinning around to face his brother. He immediately paused when he saw his expression visibly fall, amusement being quickly replaced with worry.
"Jack, your eye…"
Ah. Fuck. He almost forgot. "Oh, it's-" He pulled the cowboy hat over his face in an attempt to hide the mark. "It's nothing. I just fell."
But Mikell wasn't that easily fooled. He reached over and gently stroked his brother's cheek with his thumb, making him wince in pain. "He hit you, didn't he?"
Jack frowned, lowering his head, though his eyes still focused on his older brother. "Please don't get angry at him."
"He hit you." Mikell hissed through gritted teeth, feeling his blood boil.
"You're hurt." Jack had already grabbed Mikell's arm, fearing he was already planning to storm out the front door and scream at their father. And he wasn't exactly wrong. "Please, don't do anything stupid, he'll hurt you."
"Jack-"
"Mikell, please." He pulled himself closer, wrapping his arms around the older man's torso. "Please. You won't win this argument, he's just going to hurt you. Please just let it go…"
"I…" Mikell sighed heavily, letting his frustration leave his body with the big exhale and his shoulders falling, propping his chin against the top of Jack's head. "...Fine. But the second I'm healthy again, that bastard better watch his back."
"Thank you."
"...Okay, well, TJ and Claire are waiting for us. Come on."

Jingle Bells
Pairing: Dean Winchester / Castiel Warnings: spoiler s15, post season 15 Word Count: 2.638 Challenge: For the @destielsecretsanta2020  Summary: Dean doesn’t want to celebrate Christmas. He misses Castiel, but maybe he can pull pranks on their guests to cheer himself up? Sadly that backfires. Or, well, good that it does. Link (if posted on AO3): https://archiveofourown.org/works/28314183
This is for @endgamecasdean  ❤️️ I really hope you enjoy this! It was a lot of fun to write it x
______________________________________________________________
“Really Dean?” Sam asks and he sounds so annoyed. Dean can’t help but chuckle to himself, because everyone knows he kinda loves to annoy his little brother, even on christmas!
“Hey, you wanted this to be a ‘real christmas’ - whatever that means.” Dean says and he even does the air quotes, just like Castiel. Dean really hopes he doesn’t blush.
“Of course, I mean we’re finally free and Dean as much as I liked our Christmases just between us two, but don’t you think we deserve a little bit more?” Sam asks and Dean swallows around nothing.
“Yeah… I mean sure, you do deserve a nice Christmas. I just think it’s a bit much?” Dean says and he shrugs a bit. Of course he wants Sam to be happy and he knows that Sam is happy most of these days.
“If you do need a break, you could always excuse yourself, but it’s just our family.” Sam says and Dean knows he’s right.
They planned this christmas party in the bunker a few weeks ago and Sam had invited all their friends and family. Dean loves them and he knows that a few of them really enjoy christmas, he wouldn’t want to destroy that.
“It’s all good. I got the food ready too and I’m sure the first ones will be here in like 5 minutes.” Dean says and he nods over to the huge table in their library. He had cooked so much all day.
“Which is why I asked you in the first place. Really mistletoes?” Sam says and he points at the one, Dean just hung up. Dean grins.
“Well christmas traditions and all that.” Dean says and Sam shakes his head, but he is grinning himself. Honestly Dean wasn’t even hoping for some kiss himself, but he knows there are a few people he’d like to make happy.
“Don’t think anyone will fall for that, but please if you’re having so much fun.” Sam says and he shakes his head again, because Dean put five mistletoes up in total and he has his phone ready to take some pictures.
“Ha we’ll see.” Dean says and gets down the ladder, just as it rings at their door. Dean rubs his hands and looks after the food, as Sam opens the door. He can hear Claire already and Dean smiles.
Sam was right, he had missed his family and while he didn’t really need Christmas, he’s glad to see them again.
“Where’s my boy?” Jody asks, when she walks into the library and Dean hastily opens his arms. Jody hugs him tight.
“I missed you.” Dean says quietly and he knows with Jody he can talk about things like that. She always understands him. Jody smiles softly.
“I’m so glad you’re all okay.” Jody says and Dean can’t put his own feelings into words. He’s proud of Jack for being their new god and he knows Jack will do a fantastic job. Even… he even got Castiel back.
Not that the angel showed his face to them since then. Dean’s heart aches and he pushes the thought aside.
“Dean!” Claire is next and Dean smiles at the sight of her. She’s holding Kaia’s hand and Dean is happy that at least some people seem to have found their luck. They all know how much Claire deserves it.
“Hey girls. Where’s Alex?” Dean asks, as he hugs them both. Even Kaia seems happy to see him and now Dean understands why Sam insisted on inviting them all. Dean could use a bit of happiness and love himself.
“Still at the door with Sam.” Claire answers and Dean sees her walking down the stairs with Donna. He can’t help but smile. Sometimes he’d forget about how many friends he actually has.
As a kid Dean only had Sammy and while as a little brother, he’s still his priority, Dean had gotten himself a bigger family. Not blood, but so much more. Dean was so sure he’d never have that and now here he stands.
A while later Charlie and her girlfriend Stevie arrive. Even Bobby greets them both with a huge hug and while they’re the apocalypse versions, Dean had really locked them into his heart.
“Eileen!” Sam says loudly and Dean smiles softly, when he sees how Sam carefully kisses her on the forehead. He had said it before, Eileen is perfect for Sam. She’s just plain amazing and so badass.
Dean steals her for just a second to give her a hug as well. Seems like everyone is here already.
Dean is glad that they have so many friends, but at the same time, Dean knows they’ve lost so many of their friends. He hopes they’re okay in heaven.
“Hey Dean, did your plan work so far?” Sam asks a while later, after they had all finished eating. Dean shakes his head, a bit grumpy, but everyone seems to avoid his mistletoes.
At least everyone had loved his food and Jody had complimented him twice. Dean had kissed her cheek in thanks without a mistletoe.
“Seems like you’re all just very shy or cowards.” Dean says and he is louder on purpose so they all can hear him. He can’t believe nobody fell for his tricks.
“You wish.” Eileen says and then she waves Sam towards her. Sam rolls his eyes, but he does walk over to Eileen and kisses her under the biggest mistletoe Dean could find. Dean hastily takes his phone and almost lets it fall to the ground.
“Go get her!” Claire cheers loudly and Sam kisses Eileen. Everybody in the room cheers and Dean can see how embarrassed his little brother is. Because Eileen pressed him against the doorway.
“See, easy.” Eileen says, when she breaks the kiss and everyone starts laughing. Dean is sure he could use the pictures for their wedding sometime.
Eileen takes a beer and then comes over to Dean. He expects her to want him to delete his pictures or at least see them, but she smiles wickedly.
“So who’s a coward now?” Eileen asks and Charlie next to them coughs laughing. Dean promptly blushes and then shrugs.
“Not like there's anyone I could kiss.” Dean answers, but it doesn’t sound convincing. He’s right, around him are only people who he sees as his kids, siblings or parental figures.
Just then the door opens again and Dean smiles, when he sees Jack.
“Jack you made it!” Sam is the first to walk towards him. Carefully so he doesn’t get under a mistletoe with Jack. The kid looks good, not even the tiniest bit exhausted, but as a god, you probably feel fine all the time.
“Hello!” Jack says and he holds up his hand, just like he always does. Dean had known that Sam had tried to reach him, but Jack hadn’t answered so far.
“Man we missed you!” Claire says and she boxes against her shoulder. Dean snorts, because here Jack is just another piece of their family and not god. He belongs to them. Jack seems relieved.
“Sorry, I hadn’t realized it was Christmas already, being god is kind of a lot of work.” Jack says and he hugs Bobby next. Dean knows Bobby had also taken the kid in.
“It’s okay, we’re glad you’re here.” Dean says and then he has to hug his kid, too. God (haha) he had really missed him. Dean feels how he finally seems to calm down. He’s happy. He has his family, he’s alive and he doesn’t have to worry about another apocalypse.
He relaxes.
“I even bought you presents. Well at least one.” Jack says and just as Dean wants to open his mouth to say they all agreed on not bringing presents (each family member broke that rule though), he stops.
There on the balcony is… is Cas.
Dean tears up without wanting to. The last time he had seen Castiel was, when he had died and Dean… Dean tries each day very hard not to think about that moment.
“Cas.” Dean whispers and it’s suddenly quiet around him. Castiel’s head snaps to him and they stare at each other. Just like they did all the time.
“Hello Dean.” Castiel says and there is a small smile on his face. Dean can’t wait anymore, he has to go up there. Just like with the fake call Dean runs up the stairs. He knows it’s not a joke this time.
Castiel seems surprised but also so nervous. Dean doesn’t care, he finally has him back, so he hugs Castiel and hides his face against his neck. He doesn’t dare to look up, because he knows everyone will look so smug.
“Dean.” Castiel says and he sounds so breathless. Dean doesn’t answer, he just presses even more into Castiel and to his own horror, is he tearing up. Castiel finally hugs him back, like he’s something precious.
I love you.
Dean can still hear how he had said those words and he hopes he will hear them so many more times. He wants to say them himself, but maybe it’s not the right moment.
“I’ve missed you, Cas.” Dean whispers, because he could say it to Jody and everyone. He should be able to say it to Castiel as well. Castiel’s breath hitches at that, but he doesn’t let go.
“I’m glad to be here as well, Dean.” Castiel says and he still sounds so uncomfortable, Dean isn’t sure why. He breaks the hug and of course that’s when everyone else wants to say hello to the angel.
Dean takes a few steps back and then walks back down to the beer he had left on the table. He’s a damn coward, Eileen was right.
“You like him, huh?” Charlie says and Dean nods. No need to deny it, Charlie from his world had known it the first second they had met back then.
“He’s like… perfect.” Dean says, even though he knows Castiel has made mistakes, they all had and Dean is good at forgiving and nobody had deserved that more than Castiel.
“Then what is stopping you?” Charlie asks and Dean isn’t even sure what stops him. Maybe it’s because he still feels like he doesn’t deserve Castiel’s friendship, then why should he deserve his love?
“Dunno.” Dean mumbles and just then Bobby waves him over. Dean sighs in relief and just as he walks towards Bobby, does he realize the old man wants to trick him. Castiel is talking to Jody, and he’s under one of the mistletoes.
Dammit seems like his plans are now backfiring. Dean winks at Bobby and then walks over to Sam instead.
If… if Castiel still wanted him, he’d… he’d come to Dean and tell him, right? Or maybe it was Dean’s turn.
“Dean? Do we still have some of your sugar cookies for Jack?” Sam asks and Dean snorts, when he sees that Jack already has a whole plate of cookies, but happily stuffs them in his face.
Luckily Dean had made like a dozen too many and they’re still in the kitchen.
“Sure give me like a minute.” Dean says and turns around to walk to the kitchen. Just of course under that doorway is Castiel now talking to Eileen. He signs something to her and Dean’s heart melts.
He’s had it bad.
Just then Eileen laughs and nods, before she walks over to the other girls, who are opening another bottle of eggnog. Dean stands there like an idiot. Castiel is still under the damn mistletoe.
“Why don’t you go over to him?” Jack asks and he doesn’t sound like he wants to force Dean to go over there, but is genuinely interested in the question.
“What if… he doesn’t want to have me next to him?” Dean asks and then Castiel looks over to him. He’s still so nervous and Dean’s heart squeezes.
“Dean, just go.” Sam says and Dean nods more to himself. He walks over to Castiel and wipes his hands on his jeans. He hopes not everyone is looking at them right now, but knowing the idiots they are.
Who would’ve thought that Dean’s prank turned on himself. But he wants to kiss Castiel, he really wants it.
“Cas.” Dean says when he is with him. “Dean - I just wanted to talk to you about the day… the day the empty came, I know what I said and…” Castiel starts to babble and Dean had never seen him like that. He shakes his head.
“Cas, I know what you said and it made me the happiest man on earth.” Dean says and he goes for a smile, even though his lips are shaking. Seems like he’s just as nervous.
Castiel tilts his head.
“I feel the same about you, I was just too stunned because I thought we would both die and then you said that and I… Castiel I’m in love with you. You changed me for the better, you are everything I want.”
Dean smiles again, because now he understands why Castiel had been so happy, when he said it. Dean is relieved and it feels good, he had known a lot had waited years to come out.
“Oh Dean.” Castiel says and Dean isn’t sure what to do now.
“Kiss, kiss, kiss!” Everybody else yells and Dean is pretty sure there is a blush spreading over his whole body. His face heats up and even Castiel looks so shy.
Dean winks at Castiel and then points up at the mistletoe.
“I guess… this is when we kiss?” Dean asks and he blinks up at Castiel through his eyelashes, even though he is a tiny bit taller than the angel.
Castiel doesn’t answer but he holds out his hands. Dean takes a step closer and takes his hands. They touched so many times before, but this time it feels so different. Dean had always loved Castiel’s hands but now he can finally interlace his own fingers with Castiel’s.
“You sure?” Castiel asks and Dean nods before he has even finished the question.
“Never been this sure.” Dean says and he winks badly. Castiel smiles and then he is closing his eyes, face coming closer. Dean closes his eyes himself and waits for Castiel.
And then, fuck, then Castiel is kissing him like he means it and Dean melts in his arms. Castiel’s hands find Dean’s cheeks and he kisses him softly, but still with so much heat behind it, that Dean gasps quietly.
Dean doesn’t even hear the other around them clapping. He is just focused on the kiss. Castiel suddenly smiles against his lips and Dean does too. They break the kiss like that, both widely grinning.
“Fucking finally!” Bobby says and Dean laughs, because Bobby isn’t even with them for a long time and even he had seen it. Of course.
“I love you.” Castiel says again and this time Dean is ready and they’re safe, so he finally tells Castiel what he already wanted back then when the Empty came.
“I love you too.”
Castiel’s smile is breathtaking and Dean has to kiss him for a second agan. This time he hears someone’s phone taking a picture, but he doesn’t care.
“I love you so much.” Dean says again.
*
Weeks later Dean’s life had changed a lot. He doesn’t have to wake up alone anymore. Now he can actually cuddle Castiel, who is even more grumpy than him in the morning and the first thing Dean always does, is to look at his nightstand.
There’s a picture of his and Castiel’s kiss from their christmas party.
Dean strokes over it. He’s the luckiest son of a bitch in the world.
Castiel snores loudly and Dean chuckles quietly.
“I love you.” He whispers and Castiel smiles in his sleep.

Aight here’s a 16teen-esque mall au for the ppg that I’ll never write, but enjoy thinking about and have heavily outlined (its long, so most is under the cut):
Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup aren’t related in this one, but you’d figure they were. Bubs/Buttercups are fraternal Twins (Mom/Dad=Keane/Prof)
Blossom’s mom is Ms. Bellum, who is dating Ms. Ima Goodwoman. Sedusa is actually a good woman in this lol, she just doesn’t vibe with blossom very well.
It also doesn’t help that Ima’s son, Butch, is now an even more permanent fixture in Blossom’s life. She had always thought school was enough.
Later on in the story, Bellum and Ima get married and Butch&Bloss have to come to terms with being step siblings (they break up their parents and end up having to parent trap them back together)
This new relationship between Butch&Bloss works out perfectly for Brick because Brick’s bestfriends with Butch and also has a low-key crush on Bloss. They have English class together and while he very much has a goth persona that he can’t compromise (obviously) by a preppy girl like Bloss, he still enjoys fucking with her. Too bad she has that boyfriend :(
Wait what happened to the mall part?? Here we go:
So, to preference, Bloss is a very smart young women. A real intellectual. Tons of smart extracurriculars. She’s definitely going places, but an Ivy League school costs money. So, she gets a job at the local mall in the bookstore. Bookstores in malls aren’t doing to hot financially and hers gets bought out. It’s going to be replaced by a more mainstream Barnes and Noble, but applications for employees don’t open up until after construction. She’s out a job and for some reason (maybe it’s her horribly inconsistent schedule) no one’s hiring her!! She’s worried about a gap in her resume, but her Mom ends up having the hookup. Turns out her mom’s boss (the mayor, who’s not the Mayor in this one) actually owns the lone hot dog (& pickle) stand in the mall, and it needs a new person to man it.
(((This is a call back to when blossom, in the show, had to get a job at that hot dog stand 😂 she has to wear the same uniform with the stupid hat. )))
Her best costumer is actually Mayor, which perplexes Blossom because that can’t be a financially sound business move. His weird wisdom guides her.
ANYWAY, she takes the job and finds out the stand (and the embarrassing uniform) is unfortunately located in front of. . .
. . .HOT TOPIC.
Who works there??? Lol obviously Mr. Doom and Gloom himself--Brick!
So, Brick’s pretty much the manager there, right? Wrong, but he is a decent employee. He doesn’t actually need a job, but he’s a counterculture rebel, right?? And rebels go against their parents wishes, right?? And his dads (Mojo and Him) don’t want him working in a filthy mall because they’re rich and there’s better things to do. But he’s pretty anti-them so (🖕) he gets the job (Mojo also does not at all understand goth culture)
And then, because the gods favor him, not only does he end up getting to bug Bloss in English, but ALSO on his work breaks. He ends up eating more hotdogs then he ever thought he would in his life, but also, eventually, ends up becoming her study partner. Another fun and great thing for him is that as the story progresses he gets to watch her relationship with that-Jared-guy crumble right before his very eyes, which just adds fuel to his fantasy fire.
So tbh this story actually really works out for Brick. He gets to spend time with the girl he secretly likes and has a decent shot at getting her to date him!! Blossom, on the other hand, suffers, but who’s there to help her through this suffering?
Well, obviously, Bubbles (and BC)! Bubbles works at Claire’s. She does well on the floor, but does not at all like piercing ears. She’s not good at it. She messes piercings up too frequently and blood freaks her out. Her coworker Mary often has to step up and do it for her. Still, she likes all the sparkly stuff in the store, so it’s generally a good fit. As of right now, Bubbles really just vibes in this story. Her biggest source of conflict is with Boomer, who works at the Spencer’s across from Claire’s.
Boomer is what Brick calls a shitty scene kid. He isn’t, Brick’s just mean, but Boomer rolls with it. Tbh he just likes dying his hair a shit ton of colors. He isn’t an ideal employee and is often found taking one too many breaks, but he’s charming and doesn’t make too many bad jokes about the dildos on display in the back, so they keep him around. He should honestly be on Claire’s payroll instead, because when Mary’s not available he’s the one who does the piercings (and the right way too, he might add, not with that fucked-up piercing gun) for Bubbles. And while that might make him seem like an overall helpful guy, do not be fooled. Bubbles always pays a price.
Boomer also has a shitty mom (femme fatale; she didn’t want a son), so his at-home life isn’t great, but he puts on a brave face. Brick and Butch essentially share custody of the boy. He has a room at each of their homes, which throws Blossom for a loop because not only does she have to share space with Butch later in the story, but also with Boomer (who she ends up tutoring).
Speaking of Butch, he was fired from Spencer’s after Boomer got him a job there because he was “immature.” He was also fired from Hot Topic for basically the same reason. Then he landed a job at the Sporting Goods store, but again ended up getting fired (but this time it legitimately wasn’t his fault. His manager was just out to get him, as explained later) Now, he works for the malls arcade arena (they have go-karts and bumper cars; it’s one of those good arcades, ya feel?), so he runs a lot of kid’s bday parties. And to everyone’s surprise, he’s actually really good at it. Apparently, Butch really vibes with kids jacked up on sugar. Parents like him too because he flirts with the moms and pulls the dads into “friendly” but competitive go-kart racing betting pools.
The person doing the actual hard labor at the arcade is Robin. She gets stuck in the chuck-e-cheese-like costume way too often. She’ a good voice of reason for everyone else, especially Butch. She’s his favorite co-worker.
Going back to the sporting goods store. Buttercup works there. She’s the best sales rep they got. It helps that she’s crazy athletic and is on track to get a pretty decent scholarship with some D1 schools. (What’s she play? Idk? Whatever your heart wants) She can’t say though that she’s the most popular amongst her coworkers. She got in a fight with Mitch, which also meant she got in a fight with the twins that follow Mitch around. She definitely didn't get along with Butch when he worked there. And she thinks her manager’s kind of creepy and he’s only gotten creepier since his partner Snake broke up with him
She doesn’t know why Snake broke up with Ace, but she’s pretty sure it has to do with Butch getting fired
Now, this one’s going to throw y’all for a loop, but the reason she gets in a fight with Mitch is because Mitch was picking on her boyfriend Elmer (THATS RIGHT IM SHAKING IT UP—but don’t worry 😏 I love the greens too much).
Elmer works at the comic/geek shop with Mike. She obviously likes her boyfriend and is big buds with Mike. Elmer’s pretty insecure tho and thinks BC’s going to break up with him all the time. This really bums her out. She doesn’t get why he thinks that (b/c she’s out of his league, but she’s oblivious) because she really likes him. Unfortunately, it gets to the point that she eventually decides she has to break up with him because she can’t convince him to trust her (still their relationship is cutesy side plot for a long bit). It’s her first big heartbreak. A heartbreak that is. . .
. . .ideal for Butch because he’s realized he has more then friendly feeling for her. See they weren’t friends AT ALL beforehand, but his new sibling relationship with Blossom has catapulted BC squarely into his life. Slowly they end up going from workplace enemies to eh to friendly to friends to (😉).
A significant turning point in their relationship happened to involve Ace. Butch was on his smoke break and saw Ace making Buttercup uncomfortable. That same night he sees Buttercup trying to leave and Ace/his gang are trying to pressure her into following them. Butch takes offense to this and ends up walking Buttercup to her car. She argues she doesn’t need him saving her, which he readily agrees to, but explains that any excuse to beat that creep Ace up is a good excuse. Afterward, anytime BC has to work close, Butch walks her to her car.
Eventually, he explains to her that he was the one who inadvertently convinced Snake to get out of their toxic-ass relationship with Ace. Ace found out and that’s why he was fired. So, now, he has real beef with the guy. Him and Ace don’t get along at all. To the point where Butch was banned from the sports store, but he sneaks in to see his friends and mess with BC.
HAHA does the story ever end????
The story ends when Barnes n’ Noble opens. Blossom gets the job, ditches the old boring boyfriend, gets the goth boy, saves her mom’s relationship, and gains a sibling.
The format of the story would be pretty episodic, with a conflict/resolution in each chapter. But what’s written above highlights the over arching plot lines
and holy shit! how could I forget the cherry on top??? Brick and Princess are cousins, and she does NOT let him forget this.
((If you want more specific details ya gotta ask. there’s a lot more then just this.))

The next piece of the POTC AU is here -- and with it, the Revenge’s return to Isle de Muerta, the breaking of the curse, and ...what’s this? A new player in this drama?
Pictured above are Carewyn’s villainous relatives, the Cromwells -- Blaise (green), Pearl (red), Claire (gold), and of course the GodGrandfather himself, Captain Charles Cromwell (lime). If you’d like to learn more about their canon R-member versions, including what fancasts inspired these characters’ designs, you can find that here! I’ll make it clear right now that none of these characters, in any version of Carewyn’s canon, would ever be considered good people -- but maybe after this section and the next one, you’ll get to know them all a bit better and see some of the grayer wrinkles to at least three out of these four.
The song “Saucy Sailor” (or alternatively “Saucy Sailor Boy” or “Saucy Sailor Lad”), like “A Maid in Bedlam,” was first developed in the 18th century, but has since had its words and overall sound changed a LOT over time. The lyrics I’m using are from a more modern variation, which I put in the link to, simply because I prefer the flow of the words. The sentiment is nearly identical to the original, older lyrics, though. ^.^
Previous part for this AU is here -- full tag is here -- and, once again, Jules Farrier belongs to ma chere @cursebreakerfarrier! xoxo

It was a very long morning locked in the brig of the Revenge. Carewyn found herself singing more, just to keep her mind occupied -- it was something she and Jacob had done a lot when they were kids too. Even their mother, when she still alive, used to sing with them. It was one of the few things that could bring them joy on board the red-stained pirate ship, as even if Charles was very controlling, he found it mildly entertaining. The rest of the crew often ended up being in a better mood whenever they’d sing too -- like all of the sailors Carewyn had encountered in the Navy, they’d seemed to think that a song could make the work day go faster.
“‘Come, me own one; come, me fair one; Come now unto me -- Could you fancy a poor sailor lad who has just come from sea?’ ‘You are ragged, love, and you’re dirty, love, And your clothes smell much of tar, So be gone, you saucy sailor lad! So be gone, you Jack Tar!’ ‘If I am ragged, love, and I’m dirty, love, And me clothes smell much of tar, I have silver in me pocket, love, and gold in great store.’ And then when she heard him say so, On her bended knee she fell -- ‘I will marry my dear Henry, for I love a sailor lad so well!’”
“Ah -- I thought that little ditty sounded familiar.”
Carewyn stopped immediately and looked up.
Through the bars of the cell, she could see the frame of Charles Cromwell’s only son and First Mate, her uncle, Blaise. His almond-shaped blue eyes -- identical to all of his siblings, Charles’s and Carewyn’s -- were narrowed slightly, and his arms were crossed over his chest.
“I seem to recall that was Jacob’s favorite when he was alive, was it not?” said Blaise rather drolly.
Carewyn’s eyes narrowed coldly and didn’t respond.
Blaise uncrossed his arms, strolling over so as to prop one of his arms against the wooden bars so as to better look down at his niece.
“Little word of advice,” he whispered coolly, “you might want to tone it down a bit. The Revenge’s crew has not much liked singing these last fifteen years -- especially Pearl.”
“Since we left?” Carewyn said, and she couldn’t fight back a humorless laugh. “Should I be touched by that, that you all lost that last piece of humanity you still had, because Jacob and I did the one thing you’ve never been able to do?”
Blaise lashed his arm out violently at the bars, making Carewyn flinch despite herself, but she kept her glare firm.
“You forget our curse, little Winnie,” the First Mate murmured, and his blue eyes darkened noticeably. “No earthly pleasure can reach us, so long as one medallion is parted from that chest and the blood is not repaid. All food becomes ash in our mouths. No drink can satisfy. All carnal pleasures make us ill, with no cure...”
Something flickered in the back of his eyes.
“...Even music...the one thing that always brought your mother back to our minds...sounds like a death’s rattle.”
Carewyn’s glare faltered slightly, losing some of its edge. Blaise’s eyes drifted over her face for a moment. His brimmed black hat cast a shadow over the top of his face that obscured his expression somewhat, but it was definitely less arrogant than when he’d first arrived.
“You don’t resemble her much at all,” he murmured, almost lamenting the fact. “Neither you nor Jacob...ever resembled her much.”
Carewyn crossed her arms, her legs folded in front of her on the floor.
“We resembled her in the way that mattered,” she said quietly, “knowing that we deserve to live free, not stuck in a cage.”
Blaise gave a short, harsh sigh, throwing up a hand in aggravation.
“Must you bite my hand off when I’m trying to show you sincere sentiment?” he asked in a tired, condescending type of passive-aggressiveness that made him sound all the more like Charles. “I am your uncle, little Winnie.”
“I wasn’t biting your hand off,” said Carewyn, and her voice echoed with a bit of edge in return. “I’ve never understood why you, Claire, and Pearl stayed. Mum used to say you were so ambitious, when you were a kid -- that you wanted your own fleet and an entire island all to yourself. She said Claire was happier than she’d ever been in her life living on Shipwreck Cove, when she was too pregnant to sail. She said Pearl wanted to be captain of the Revenge herself someday, after Grandfather retired and you got your own ship. But not one of you ever chased any of that -- instead you just march lock-step with Grandfather like none of your dreams ever mattered -- ”
“I will not have a Navy brat chastise me for ‘marching lock-step,’”spat Blaise.
Carewyn got to her feet and got up right next to the bars so as to better glare into her uncle’s face.
“I may be a so-called ‘Navy brat,’ but I still have a heart and a soul that are mine. And the East India Trading Company couldn’t buy those with all the coin on earth. You, though? You gave up everything you ever wanted and are, for nothing at all. You gave it up without even fighting for it.”
Blaise stared Carewyn down for a very long moment, his glare rippling with resentment.
“...Nothing...yes. I suppose that is what I’ve received, through this venture. We found the treasure of Cortes -- a chest worthy of a king -- and yet the wealth we accrued through selling it could not replace the humanity we lost...nor the family. Not Lane...not my sweet Marianne...”
Carewyn’s eyebrows furrowed. She’d barely known Blaise’s wife, since he’d been very newly married when she’d left and her pregnancy ensured her place in Shipwreck Cove, away from Charles’s ship. All Carewyn and Jacob had really gathered was that the woman had gotten swept up in Blaise’s good looks more than any particular charm on his part -- if nothing else, then because Blaise, as well as the rest of the Cromwells, were the furthest thing from charming imaginable.
Blaise’s smile twitched with a completely humorless smile. “Did you not wonder why I have no sons or daughters on board, while Claire and Pearl’s children run wild?”
The unpleasant smile vanished instantly.
“I first saw what I’d become while visiting Shipwreck Cove to spend a night with Marianne. I’d been feeling so out of sorts, with nothing tasting right and my thirst never being quenched, and I’d so looked forward to holding her in my arms again. But when she saw me, bathed in the moonlight...she ran from me. I begged for her to stay. I grabbed her, tried to hold her down and explain...she ripped herself out of my arms...and in her panic lost her footing and fell down the stairs.”
Carewyn’s heart clenched.
“She was alive,” Blaise said in response to the concern that rippled over the Commodore’s face. “But only just. The injury made her miscarry, of course, but she’d also hurt herself beyond repair. She was never able to leave her bed again. And knowing what I was...my Marianne grew cold. Didn’t wish to see me. I broke down her door more than once, trying to force her to come with me, so I could take her somewhere more comfortable with better medicine, where it could just be her and me, but she said she was in too much pain to move. It was then...that she first asked me to kill her.”
Carewyn’s lips came together tightly. Blaise’s eyes had drifted away from her and now bore into the wall of the brig.
“My Marianne asked me to kill her multiple times -- but I refused. She was my wife. She was mine, mine alone...I was not going to let anyone take her from me, not even Death himself.”
The possessive attitude again reminded Carewyn unpleasantly of Charles.
“But...as the years went by...as I returned time and again, her presence gave me no pleasure, and mine...repulsed her. I didn’t need pleasure, of course -- only her. Even if we could have none of the children we wanted while I was cursed, that could come later. She could wait for me. Even if she could not leave her bed...at least that way, she could never leave me...”
“You’re disgusting,” Carewyn spat.
Blaise didn’t seem to hear her -- he was too lost in his own memories.
“At least...so I thought. But in the end...she did leave me. After I’d vowed never to let anyone take her from me...she took herself away...by poisoning herself.”
Carewyn’s eyes narrowed grimly, but couldn’t reply.
“So in the end...I truly do have nothing. No wife, to love me forever and a day. No child of my own, to mold the way I see fit. No member of my family who has ever shown me any genuine love or kindness...that isn’t now in an afterlife that I will never reach. Pearl has her husband and sons, and Claire has her family...but I...I have nothing.”
Blaise’s voice was never choked and his face never showed outward grief, but there was a bizarre, isolating gloom swirling around him.
Carewyn’s eyes were still narrowed as she studied him. Then, after a moment, she reached a hand through the bars and took hold of the sleeve of his dark red coat.
“...I’m sorry,” she said solemnly.
They weren’t the right words, for she really didn’t feel remorse or regret for Blaise’s sake, but they were the only ones she could think of to express any shred of sympathy.
‘As despicable as you are, and however much you brought a lot of this on yourself...it’s not something I can take pleasure in.’
Blaise looked down at her hand, and then up at her face, his expression appearing wounded and almost confused. Then he roughly pulled himself out of her hold, his expression contorted in disgust -- as if he didn’t know what to do with basic human compassion.
“And here I thought you’d toughened yourself up, in the last fifteen years,” he said, his voice again dripping with condescension and scorn.
Carewyn’s gaze hardened, but Blaise didn’t seem to care.
“No matter,” he said, his voice a low growl in the back of his throat as his eyes bore into the upper corner of the brig. “Things are going to change, once the curse is broken. I may have nothing now, but mark my words...I’ll have everything soon enough.”
The vengeful tone of his voice made Carewyn ask suspiciously, ”What are you planning to do?”
Blaise’s lips spread into a smirk, but did not answer. He turned his back and Carewyn and started to walk out of the brig. On his way out, he paused, his hand absently resting on his scabbard as he looked over his shoulder at her, his blue eyes twinkling with malice.
“When the curse is lifted, little Winnie...you’ll be singing quite a lot for me.”
And with that, he left up the stairs back toward the main deck.
Meanwhile the Artemis was making very good time. The Revenge was a very fast ship, but sure enough, any outside observer watching the ships’ trajectories from the air would’ve seen the Artemis was shortening the distance between it and the Revenge rapidly. Even McNully hypothesized as much.
“According to my calculations,” said McNully as he addressed the crew early that morning, “the Revenge travels about 7 knots, normally -- well above any of the Navy’s fastest ships -- and they had a half-day’s head start. But the Artemis is a schooner. We may be a lot smaller than a galleon like the Revenge, but we’re built for speed, so we’ve made it to 8 knots consistently since we started. And since we presumably don’t have as much loot weighing us down as the ship that can only make berth in one place and Orion dealt with our mermaid problem, meaning we didn’t need to slow down while traveling through their waters the way the Revenge no doubt would’ve...and most importantly, Charles Cromwell has no reason to think anyone’s following him...I reckon there’s a 96.5% chance that we catch up with them tonight.”
Knowing that soon they’d be catching up to a whole ship full of pirates, Bill and Charlie spent the rest of the day training Jules in sword combat on the main deck. Jules had asked Bill to teach her some moves earlier in the voyage and had soon proven quite capable with a blade -- though Charlie had teased that it was because Bill had been going easy on her, even he had to admit Jules was a fast learner. At one point Skye even jumped in to show Jules, Charlie, and Bill how to do the “Pincer,” a move she’d developed where three people “hem” in their opponent little by little until they can reach in close enough to trap the person’s neck between all three of their blades crossed in a triangle shape. McNully also got in on the action by talking her through fighting with a sword while in the ship’s rigging.
“Very good!” said McNully, as he supervised Skye and Jules fighting each other in the rigging that afternoon. “Try to attack your opponent’s stance every-so-often, that’ll improve your odds of victory by a good 26%!”
Orion strolled down from the helm to get a better look, his arms crossed over his chest as he came to a stop between Charlie and McNully.
“A clever strategy as always, McNully,” the captain said levelly.
McNully grinned. “Thanks! Though it being done by a woman always helps. I’d say a good 89% of all men on the high seas fear nothing more than a woman who could kill them.”
“I reckon Bill’s in that remaining eleven,” said Charlie amusedly.
The three men glanced at Bill. His gaze was locked on Jules up in the rigging and his lips were spread in a full, admiring smile.
“There admittedly is also a good two percent of men who love the idea of a woman who could kill them,” said McNully amusedly.
He nudged Orion in the side with his elbow, and the Captain actually bowed his head and grinned from ear to ear, showing white teeth.
It didn’t take long for Carewyn to figure out what Blaise was planning. She’d stopped singing, not to placate her uncle, but so as to listen, and soon she could hear the whispers. The unhappy mutterings from Pearl’s son, from Claire’s husband, son, and three daughters. Some about how much more controlling Charles had gotten in his old age. Some about how their plunder on the Isle de Muerta was still in a giant pile and had still not been parsed out evenly between the crew. Some about how much they hated being cursed, speaking longingly of drinking an entire bottle of liquor or eating a bushel of apples or screwing every woman they laid eyes on, once their humanity was restored...blaming Charles’s expedition to Isle de Muerta for their fifteen years of misery.
It all added up to one thing in Carewyn’s mind. As soon as the curse was lifted and Charles was mortal again, Blaise was planning to spark a mutiny.
From what she could deduce, the only people who didn’t know were Pearl, Claire, and Charles himself, and Carewyn thought she could guess why. Pearl had treated Jacob and Carewyn with the most active hostility after Lane and her husband tried to escape with them: she was furious by their attempt at desertion, and Carewyn figured mutiny wouldn’t be something she’d support much either. And Claire had always been the “follower” out of her relatives to whomever was the most powerful, in this case, Charles: she would’ve been far too much of a liability to have in the loop until after the mutiny was complete, at which point she’d probably fall into line.
It was sort of sad, Carewyn thought. The Cromwells had always claimed to be a family -- but there truly wasn’t an ounce of love or trust anywhere to found in them. It made her miss Bill, Charlie, and Percy all the more.
The Revenge docked in Isle de Muerta late that afternoon. Part of that time was spent unloading the loot they’d collected into the cave -- there was quite a large store of it. Considering that pirates usually spent anything they stole right away rather than saving it -- and, more specifically, that her family had always done that before, when she was a kid -- Carewyn supposed that even enjoying the gold and riches they’d collected fell under the umbrella of “earthly pleasure” the Revenge’s crew couldn’t enjoy.
It was as the sun began to set that Carewyn heard the sounds above deck starting to quiet. She peeked out the magic-patched hole in her cell -- because they’d docked, they were in shallower water, and she could see a large swath of dark red heading into a large cave, lit torches held aloft. Among the landing party were Pearl, Claire, and Blaise, and at its head, Carewyn could just barely spot the one lone red hat that belonged to Charles.
‘Five, six...nine,’ Carewyn thought. ‘They’ve left two people aboard. Probably Claire and Pearl’s husbands.’
She could hear raucous laughter from the room below deck, just above the brig.
“Another win for me, then!” said a rather muffled, raspy sort of voice.
“Aye, but can you do it again?” challenged another much more boorish voice. “Let’s have another go at the dice, then!”
Carewyn could hear a rattling sound and then two loud thunks on the table overhead.
‘They’re playing Liar’s Dice,’ she surmised.
“I s’pose ‘Captain Blaise’ and his new mate would be more open to it than old Charles,” said the raspy voice smugly, “but I don’t reckon your biddy would be too happy about it...”
“Look, I’m just saying, I haven’t had a good lay in fifteen years,” said the boorish voice, “I’m sure Claire won’t put up too much of a fuss if I borrow ‘er for a bit, on the side -- it’s not like I can sleep with my own daughters -- ”
More raucous laughter followed. Carewyn cringed, but she quickly put his words out of her mind and got right down to business.
There were now only two people on the Revenge -- sure, they were currently undead, but they wouldn’t be much longer, and they were distracted. This might be the only chance she had, to get the upper hand. And so the Commodore got to work plotting her jail break.
Since she’d been changed out of her Navy uniform against her will, Carewyn didn’t have any hat pins she could turn into a lockpick, but fortunately the dark red jacket she’d been forced into did have thin metal clasps for its buttons instead of holes, even if it was too small for her to button the jacket around herself properly. After some work, she managed to rip one of the entire fastenings and twist the clasp into a flatter wire that she could stick into the keyhole of her cell door.
Within fifteen minutes, there was a click, and she very, very carefully inched the cell door open and sneaked out up the stairs, right past the room the two pirates were playing Liar’s Dice, and up onto the deck.
‘I can’t move against those two until I know for sure the curse is broken,’ thought Carewyn. ‘So I’ll have to bide my time, at least for a short while...’
She glanced around before her eyes settled on the door to Charles’s cabin, just below the helm. She swept over, trying the handle -- upon finding it locked, she took her new lockpick back out and, within two more minutes, had opened it.
Charles’s cabin was much more opulently decorated than Orion’s cabin, with fiery red Persian rugs, black silk curtains, and gold-trimmed mahogany future. Carewyn also noted with some scorn that her grandfather did, in fact, have a pair of ridiculously voluptuous, naked woman carved into his headboard. Fortunately it also held a store of weapons -- so Carewyn stole a cutlass, a pistol, a couple of grenades, and some spare bullets and powder, just to be safe. She’d just been securing the sword’s scabbard when she heard a raucous cheering from below deck.
“AYE! AYYYYYE, YEAAAAAH!”
The two pirates sounded elated beyond reason -- almost gleeful.
‘The curse has been broken!’ thought Carewyn.
She charged out of Charles’s cabin, ready to seize her chance -- but when she made it out on deck, she was shocked by what she saw.
The whole of Isle de Muerta was surrounded. There were a good ten pirate ships, all hovering just off shore in a noose-like shape around the island. The largest of them, which was also closest to the Revenge, was a pitch black vessel with a winged harpie carved into its bowsprit.
The blood drained out of Carewyn’s face at the sight of it.
It was the Tower Raven.

Guys sometimes I remember Krissy and I wish we saw more of her. She was the blueprint for Claire I think. Obviously I wish Claire got to meet Jack because they would be like siblings but tbh I would have liked to see her meet Krissy too they would have gotten along... I read a pre Kaia fic where they met and went to hunt Cas because Claire wanted revenge on him (as she SHOULD) and like they started dating and then they got there and Krissy realized it was Dean and how she swallowed it down to back up Claire but Claire broke down because she just couldn’t kill the man who looked like her dad and guys it was so good. Obviously the CW is cowards and we never would have gotten a plot like that but I just think about her sometimes I think they should have met I think Krissy should have come back

The Umbrella Academy Season 2
7/10
I feel the same way about Season 2 as I feel about the last episode of Season 1. It’s incredibly entertaining. It’s very heartwarming at times. But it is so much flash and action and style and very little substance. When I actually look deeper at the storylines and the characters it feels a bit hollow. Either we skipped SEVERAL STEPS of character development to get here, or we didn’t move forward at all.
This would have been a FANTASTIC Season 3 IF we had gotten a Season 2 full of good character development only for Season 3 to show a character regression before moving forward at the end.
There were SO MANY storylines in Season 2 and so many characters did literally nothing, twiddling their thumbs while more important stuff was happening with other siblings. And that’s the whole crux of the matter. The siblings spent far too much time separated, their storylines disjointed.
Season 1 had a premise. Dysfunctional but found family. And the end of Season 1 promised that they would actually try to address Vanya’s (and their own) trauma. Season 2 sideswerved HARD and did not meet that promise. Instead they gave Vanya an amnesia storyline to gloss over the painful parts of healing.
There were just so many lost opportunities. More issues with this season and what I would have liked to have seen instead under the cut. I uh... went on a rant.
The Plot
What they essentially did was a soft reboot that just re-treaded out Season 1 with slight differences which is why so many of the characters feel so stagnated. Most of them are not moving forward or are moving forward so slowly, what was the point?
Luthor:
moderate character growth. He has (mostly) broken free of Reginald Hargeeves’ influence and transferred his daddy issues onto any other older male. The underground fighting and being a body man for Jack Ruby was fine but having FIVE become his new daddy figure and then trying to figure out WHICH FIVE to listen to was absolute gold. Also him being heartbroken but SUPER RESPECTFUL of Allison’s relationship with Raymond was A+. I assume he was just as respectful when she was married to Patrick and kudos to him for being the only one to mention Claire all season. Gets points taken off because despite the end of Season 1 being about how to help Vanya process her trauma his immediate reaction to Vanya is to CONFRONT HER WITH A GUN BEHIND HIS BACK which he only puts away when he sees there’s a child in the barn with them. And then he just... walks away.
Yeah he just… is there quietly supporting everyone else this season. Not the best but not the worst.
Diego:
SO MUCH CHARACTER GROWTH. I AM PROUD OF HIM. SOMEHOW JUMPED UP TO ONE OF THE FAVES THIS SEASON. Might have had the best character growth in the whole season. He went to therapy for 75 days and came out of it willing to throw away numbers and be team zero and make amends with most of his siblings. Still snarky and mean and kind of an obsessive dumbass about JFK and went into his thing with Lila way too quickly but I really loved him being a foil to Five. I almost cried when his stutter came back.
Ok but my biggest complaint is that I would have liked to see his own struggles as a hispanic man in 1960’s Dallas, Texas. Tie it to Allison’s Civil Rights plot. Because he and LiIa are two clearly non-white people, Lila with a British accent of all things, in 1963 Dallas going to a fancy gala with rich white men and no one bats an eye. No one says anything to either of them. Not that I want them to be discriminated against but it’s weird to see that juxtaposed with Allison not even being allowed to go into a diner. Because racism towards hispanic men is well and alive in present day Dallas and it sure as hell would have been in 1963. Dallas specifically used to have a neighborhood called Little Mexico that reached peak population in the 60s but was slowly dismantled by gentrification. While not legally segregated, Mexican-American citizens were still considered second class citizens. Places like Woolworth’s (and probably that diner where Allison had the sit in) did not allow Mexican-Americans. Him being put into that asylum was definitely rooted in racism after showing violence, even after helping an old white lady, and screaming about the president being assassinated.
I don’t know how to tie that cleanly to Allison’s storyline considering he already had a lot going on with his plot but like… show us some representation of a history not usually taught. Especially since David Castenada is Mexican-American. It’s literally his history.
Allison:
Started off kind of strong and then... eh. I liked PARTS of her storyline. I really liked her getting involved with the Civil Rights movement. I loved her being taken in by the other women at the hair salon. But I think the reveal of her storyline came too late. We spent multiple episodes with her before getting to her flashback after landing in the 60’s and it should have come earlier if you wanted us to care more about the community she joined.
While I liked Raymond fine, I would have preferred he didn’t exist. Not for shipping or anything but just for the fact that you had such a strong beginning with Allison being saved by this group of black women who took her in and defended her that I feel like you could have built more into that. They had some great scenes with them supporting her after Raymond is arrested and crying out as Allison is being restrained by the police officer but then Raymond is angry at her and denounces her from the community and then nothing. Even after she tells Raymond the truth there isn’t another scene with Allison and the other women.
Allison didn’t need another relationship, sincere or not. Not after Patrick and Luthor. She needed scenes with the women, commiserating over her lost family, siblings and child. She needed the support of other women in order to learn how to support other women so she could learn from her mistakes with Claire and Vanya. And to learn how to use her powers responsibly.
Her whole arc from Seasons 1 and 2 is about not wanting to use her powers because she has a history of personal gain and escalating violence… but then she doesn’t use them at moments where they would be the most helpful. How great would a storyline have been about her using her powers to protect these other black women in the community? And about learning how to use her powers to de-escalate a situation without resorting to violence? (Every time Allison was in a situation I kept screaming at the tv “I HEARD A RUMOR YOU SAT IN A CORNER AND TIED YOUR HANDS TOGETHER”)
Also. Also. Also. Black women often have no voice. Even, or especially, in their own community. They get looked over because of the violence happening to black men or the non-diverse feminism of white women. Show us more about Allison literally having no voice and connecting with these women who metaphorically have no voice. We get such a small taste of it. I want more.
Klaus:
What did Klaus do all season? No seriously? What was the point of him?
I get that the cult is a very Klaus thing to do but then he gets smothered by them so he tries to dip out? Was there… supposed to be a lesson in codependency there? A lesson about creating a new accepting family? About being heard by people who support you but he prefers the Hargreeves who will snipe at him instead?
And he was so mean to Ben all season. ALL SEASON he was mean to Ben. Because Ben can’t leave him and he’s acting as his conscience. Which is fair because that gets annoying after 17 years but maybe you should listen to him a little? Maybe you shouldn’t be making him perform tricks for you to impress your cult?
The Dave storyline was sad and some of the most real moments from Klaus all season. Another storyline that… we knew where it was gonna go and how it was gonna end but I didn’t mind it so much. But if the point of his storyline was to learn to let go of his trauma and just of people he’s grieving in general, Dave AND BEN, then… how does the cult fit into it? I’m still trying to make sense of the cult plot point. It didn’t serve anything with Klaus and you didn’t need it to have Ben have feelings for and try to make a connection with a girl. There’s something there with the cult storyline they were maybe trying to get at and I don’t think they achieved it.
Also his sobriety. The reason Klaus is the way he is is because he takes the drugs and the drinks to not see ghosts. If he were sober for three years (why was he sober for three years? He was in a cult. He should have been off his rocker the whole time because him trying to get sober was to see Dave and Dave han’ died yet) why wasn’t he surrounded by other ghosts asking him for help the same way they were in S1? And then he just… throws his sobriety away. Because of heartbreak? Annoyance at the world and at Ben?
Five:
Repetitive. It’s just a retool of S1’s apocalypse storyline. Which. AGAIN. Five doesn’t even solve this second apocalypse! I stand by Rapaccini’s post saying that Five was meant to be on the stage with the gun in his hand in season one. And he should have been there trying to stop the apocalypse with Vanya in S2. Cool, great, love Diego being taken into the Time Commission. But Five’s the one who’s been putting the pieces together and trying to get them the briefcase and who’s been looking at the newspapers and watching the videos and whatnot. How did no one consider that the second apocalypse revolved around Vanya? Again. And it’s for the same reason: her storyline was removed from her siblings and no one was there to support her until literally the last moment. She was being tortured by the FBI for A WHILE. Did anyone even tell Five that Vaya was being tortured by the FBI? Whie he was having a slap fight with his older younger self?
Old!YoungerFIve vs Young!OlderFive was hilarious. I loved every moment of it except for the fact that at literally the same time Vanya was being tortured by the FBI. Why are you keeping FIve and Vanya so far apart? Their storylines should revolve around each other. They’re the literal lynchpins of the series.
Ben:
Sweet baby. Sweet sad ghost baby. He twiddled his thumbs with Klaus for a while but I don’t mind it as much because he’s so tied to Klaus. So of course Klaus twiddling his thumbs means Ben doesn’t really get to do anything. I like him trying to assert his dominance in their relationship. I love him learning how to possess Klaus and make a real connection with fruit and the mud and getting to see Diego and Vanya one last time. I legit cried during Vanya’s scene with him. I’m so glad that we don’t lose Justin MIn next season because I was very worried. I also was brought to tears when he sat there alone saying he misses his siblings. All of them. So much.
Vanya:
I don’t like amnesia plots and I don’t like infidelity plots. Those are personal squicks for me so I absolutely loathe Vanya’s storyline. Look. I get that Sissy is oppressed as a not straight woman in 60’s Texas and she’s struggling with a husband who is pretty terrible (but standard by 1960’s Texas POV) and her son is difficult. I get where they were trying to go with it. But that doesn’t justify her carrying on an affair with Vanya. She is still married and still sleeping with him while coercing Vanya into keeping their whatever a secret. I don’t consider illicit affairs behind another partner’s back to be romantic.
I did NOT like their kissing scene together because again, she’s married, they’re both drinking and Sissy is visibly upset and drunk and she makes the first move on Vanya after having known Vanya for a month with Vanya having amnesia and Sissy is Vanya’s employer. Vanya has been hired by Sissy to watch over her child in exchange for room and board so by all accounts there’s literally no place to go and no one for Vanya to turn to if it goes south. When. When it goes south. Sissy knew full well that she had no intention of putting in the effort to make their relationship a permanent and sustainable thing as she makes clear to Vanya later. It’s Vanya who puts in the effort to make their relationship a viable thing after they spend the night together. So there’s a power dynamic there that is not ok.
So many of those components DO NOT WORK FOR ME. I don’t like it and I don’t think anyone’s storyline benefited from it. Their relationship was just a whole lot of NOPE for me.
What was the point of Sissy’s relationship with Vanya. Because it swallows up Vanya’s whole plot and we’re never going to see Sissy again so why did it matter? Just to show Vanya is queer? Cool, I love it. That’s great for Vanya. Do it not this way. Not in a way that has some amnesia, coercion, power dynamic issues. She already had that in a worse way with Leonard.
Vanya did not need a relationship this season. Straight up. Just like Allison. Because if you want to show Vanya growing and healing from her trauma to allow her to love another man or woman after what Leonard did to her, GIVING HER AMNESIA AND WIPING IT ALL AWAY SO IT DOESN’T MATTER ISN’T HOW YOU DO IT.
Beyond that. There’s just so much of Vanya’s storyline that is off and terrible and doesn’t make sense. If the whole point of all of this was to have this interesting connection with Harlan because she… transfers some of her powers to him? Is able to connect with him? They’re both special? Then show us that! We weren’t shown that. At all. How capable was Vanya in taking care of Harlan? We’ve never seen her with other children before, let alone a child who is non-verbal and clearly needs special attention and care. We see Sissy struggling with Harlan at one point, did Vanya struggle? As someone who used to work with children, it’s HARD. Adding in non-verbal special children is even harder.
So show us more scenes where this non-verbal child is able to communicate his wants and needs with Vanya. Show us Vanya being able to handle his temper tantrums in a way that connects to Vanya struggling with her own temper because of her trauma even if she doesn’t remember it. Show us Vanya commiserating with this child over a family that doesn’t really understand him and a father who is neglectful at best. The biggest scene I can remember Harlan connecting with Vanya before the finale is when he puts his hands over hers but that’s HARLAN comforting VANYA because VANYA is upset. Which is an interesting moment but that’s due to Vanya’s upset over Sissy and not anything to do with Harlan himself.
Cycling back around to Vanya’s amnesia. Thanks, I hate it.
If you have to have this stupid amnesia storyline, especially if you’re going to have it revealed by Reginald in Vanya’s mind that she is purposefully suppressing the memories because it’s too traumatic, then you need to seed that through the rest of the season. We had one nightmare flashback. Her memories could have been triggered by Carl being a dick about Harlan. They could have been triggered by feeding Harlan a peanut butter and marshmallow sandwich. They could have been triggered by her taking Harlan downtown and passing by a music store. Vanya didn’t pick up the violin once this season and that’s a shame considering she’s the White Violin.
I just really don’t like amnesia plots. I made a post saying I am SO FUCKING TIRED of seeing women traumatized in media only for them to keep getting re-traumatized to show their strength or their trauma is swept under the rug. And they swept Vanya’s trauma under the rug. All of Vanya’s interactions don’t mean anything in Season 2. They’re surface level sweet but hollow because she doesn’t fucking remember so what’s the fucking point in them apologizing and being nice to her now? They can afford to do that because she can’t remember and she’s not angry. And the focus shifts AWAY from Vanya after she remembers and the compassion and empathy goes to a different female antagonist who is trying to kill them. Where was this “let’s circle around you and tell you that you are one of us and we’ll accept you even though you just made a huge effort to kill us and almost succeeded” scene for Vanya after they locked her up and she busted out to go to her concert?

Suptober Day 27 - Villains
Castiel drove for more than two days, stopping only for gas, and ended up in a town in Maine called Belfast. He didn’t really know why there, he was just about at the edge of the United States and the edge of his own being. He rented a room using the card Dean had given him so long ago. It was the Winchester’s money… of a fashion and he felt a little bad about using it now that their partnership had come to an end.
Then again, there was a tiny glimmer of satisfaction that Dean would be footing the bill, not only for his room but for the gas he had used to get here. He wasn’t worried about them coming to find him. Sure, they could easily track him down with his purchases but why would they bother? If they wanted him to stop using the card they had his cell number, they could call him. For Dean it was probably a small price to pay to have him out of their lives. Still… he resolved to get his own card as soon as he could. If he truly were to move on, he needed to replace those kinds of support beams with ones he made himself.
He’d gotten a few texts from Sam since he left. An apology for whatever Dean had said, an invitation to call, but he hadn’t responded. He wasn’t sure he could face hearing Sam’s voice, his sympathy; it would be too easy to fool himself into thinking that Sam actually cared and that he wasn’t just being kind.
He sat on a bed he didn’t need watching the room grow darker. He didn’t bother turning on the light, he could see just fine. His powers may be failing but he was still an angel, and it was more than the flashy tricks he could perform that separated him from humanity. At least, he’d always thought so, but even aspects of his biology seemed to be changing. His capacity for emotion had to be at least somewhat physical by now and he felt tired even if he knew he wouldn’t sleep.
What was he supposed to do now? All of his resources were tied up with the Winchesters, all the small possessions he’d collected over his stay there. Not many things, granted, but the room he had been gifted as his own was more than the box with a bed, a desk and a dresser it had been when he first began staying there.
Should he go back and get them at some point? Or should he ask Sam to send them on if he found somewhere steady? He would want them back when that happened; they might not be treasures but they were his, and what else did he have to show for his existence? His wings were beyond repair and useless, his siblings either hated him or were indifferent, his father was gone, hopefully for good and the friends he had clung so tightly too had finally managed to shove him off.
He didn’t regret leaving, not exactly, he knew it was the right thing for everyone. Clearly, Dean didn’t want him around, would keep blaming him, keep seeing him as wrong, as a constant disappointment. Castiel hated to admit that the Empty had been right all along about that. Sam… perhaps they could salvage something of their friendship, thought Cas didn’t hold out much hope. He didn’t want to be the cause of friction between the brothers and he wasn’t even sure Sam would want to try.
As for everyone else... perhaps Claire could still be counted as his friend, but all of the others had come through the filter of Sam and Dean and he didn’t want to put Claire in that position.
Cutting all ties it was then… for now.
Cas buried his head in his hands and gave himself over to the despair. Perhaps it was because staring at asphalt for prolonged periods of time did strange things to the mind or perhaps he was just so indoctrinated into the Winchester way of life by this point but he missed them. Already, terribly. It felt like grief, like defeat, like surrender; it felt like he had made it through the final God-created apocalypse, only for his world to collapse anyway.
And not a single word from Dean. He had no doubt Sam would mention it to his brother if Cas got in touch but he hadn’t tried to reach out himself. Did he truly not care? Over a decade of fighting together and forgiving each other’s mistakes and it it had all boiled away into formless, useless nothing? He wasn’t sure what he expected, but he was bitter about it all the same.
Who exactly was the villain here? Castiel wasn’t sure. An argument could be made several ways. Chuck for orchestrating this entire mess, Belphegor for his final betrayal that had caused Cas to disrupt the plan, Dean for not allowing Cas to even attempt to bridge the gap forming between them or Cas himself for being wrong.
He pushed that thought away. If he was being honest with himself he didn’t really blame Dean for his anger. Things had gone horribly wrong and Rowena was just the final person in a long line of recent losses, anger was natural. It was the change in Dean that seemed to have come on so swiftly; the build of grief and the lack of time to process and that Mary was one of the fallen was an extra blow that Cas could only barely begin to understand but the result was a man on the verge of implosion and Castiel was only making things worse by being around to irritate him further. Also… Cas didn’t think he deserved it.
Dean’s ire was understandable but that didn’t mean Cas had to be around to absorb it. He’d done that enough over the years, put up with snide comments and outright insults and biting words whenever Dean was in a bad mood and he had had enough. Mary had been his friend too, Rowena had been… if not a friend to him then an ally. Jack had been his child and Dean had wanted to murder him, almost had and Castiel had not once brought it up, though he had wanted to on several occasions. Dean had forgiven Jack for killing his mother, why couldn’t he forgive Cas for trying to protect his son? Why didn’t he trust that Cas had made the right decision in the moment, the only one that he could?
He remembered a time, around eight years ago, that he had stood in a room and watched Dean defend him with a fierceness he didn’t deserve. He’d been actively betraying the Winchesters then but Dean, despite the evidence, had refused to believe it of him.
He had been the villain then, and now Dean was only too quick to label him one. But he wasn’t, he wasn’t.
Were there villains in this new world without Chuck? Leaving aside demons and those creatures fully corrupted by their biology, there was simply no need for them. This wasn’t a story anymore, it was just life. And a bad person was not the same thing as a villain.
He didn’t think that Dean was a bad person, he was just a bad person for him. The depth of Cas’ feelings for the Righteous Man were such that he gravitated towards him almost without thinking. Dean created his own orbit and it had taken more effort than Cas thought he possessed to pull himself out and walk away.
And Castiel couldn’t help but be proud of himself for that, sitting alone in a motel room Maine; after all, choosing to go it alone, after millennia of constant connection with his siblings and then with the Winchesters, at least for him, had been just a little bit brave.

Sibling Jealousy - Chapter 2
Fic’s Summary: Reader has known the Winchesters for a long time, almost two years before Cas entered their lives. After that, since Reader was the only one actually teaching the angel about humanity customs and stuff like that, properly, they developed a closer relationship, on the parent-kid way. But it was never verbally acknowledged. Now, with Lucifer’s child on the way, life stabs some sense and realizations onto Reader, but there’s no time for feelings in this house.
Author’s Note: This is mainly a fic with the purpose of developing a family relationship with the characters, of mutual support, and I don’t plan on adding romance for Reader, because that’s not my final goal.
Pairings(?): Castiel/Reader (Parental like), Jack Kline/Reader (Platonic/Sibling like), Dean and Sam Winchester/Reader (Platonic/Friends)
Warnings: Usual canon violence and conflicts, as well as injuries and blood mentions, emotional struggles such as feeling unloved, like an outcast, low self-esteem issues and if you think something else should be mentioned let me know.
<<Last Chapter — Next Chapter>>
Chapter’s Author’s Note: The first chapter (or prologue?) already has more than 20 notes and that’s more than I expected tbh. Within less than a day, @thewnchstrs added my fic to their September Fics Recommendation List, and I can’t be more flattered that even with just one part out, they decided to add me. Thank you so much.
Chapter Two: Such a Rush
Word Count: 1,327
For the next few months, you were sent the address where Cas was staying with Kelly, and you would send him some pictures and stuff “a normal kid” might use or want. You also got on the phone with both Kelly and Cas when the brothers left to do the FBI work and you stayed in the motel to do research or went for food.
Not a lot of words were exchanged, in your opinion, but hearing Castiel’s voice and encouraging words about The Men of Letters issue did relaxed you, and Kelly said it was a good thing for the baby to hear to his family’s voices.
Not sure how you felt about that yet.
Time passed, you found the microphone hidden in The Bunker, you were almost buried alive, then you and Sam went to raid the British Men of Letters base, using how stealthy and small you were as your bargain excuse as to why you should go (which did come in handy, thank you very much), went back to The Bunker to find Mary was on her right mind again and Ketch dead on the floor and then head all the way up north because the brothers had finally found where Cas and Kelly were AND you all learned Lucifer was out there walking on his old vessel.
You didn’t know if warn Cas or not, but with the Impala filled with the Winchester’s family you couldn’t, and praying to Cas might not be wise since angel radio could get hire wired. That’s not how it works, but yes, essentially. You could hear him tell you.
After hours on the road and Sam convincing Dean onto letting him drive for some of those because of his leg, you arrived at the small house you knew those two, three?, were staying in.
You hesitated into entering the house, looking up to see the windows’ lights on. Something didn’t feel right about this.
When you got in, Castiel seemed to already have talked to the Winchesters and Mary was making her way up the stairs to check on Kelly.
You went straight to him and hugged him, hoping he was getting the message on how much you missed him just from the strength of your hug. Apparently he did, because he was quick onto caressing your head and rubbing small circles on your back, all while you felt his grace heal the injuries you had earned on the raid against the British.
You stepped yourself away from him, and noticed Dean was no longer limping, meaning Castiel had already healed him.
“There’s something you need to see.”
After the tear on the time and space that led you to an alternative universe issue and Crowley joining you, a plan was made to trap Lucifer, and not much to your surprise, you were told to wait inside the house with both Kelly and Mary.
“So just you veterans can risk yourselves and have fun?” you really wanted to help, something about the whole situation made you uneasy.
“(Y/N) you know is not like that, but we can’t keep risking people into this, keep putting you on the fire line.” Sam tried to reason with you, his voice soft but nervous about whatever was about to happen, and you had to repress a snarky remark about how just living with them put you in said line by itself.
You sent Cas a look, but his eyes were sad and…a silent request was there, but you weren’t sure what was it. You didn’t like it.
Before they went outside and you upstairs, Castiel handed you an angel blade.
“Cas, you need this, as little protection against an archangel as it can give, you need it.” You tried pushing it back to him. “Besides, I already have my own from Ishim. The most recent one at least I mean.” talking about whom you had gotten an angel blade always seemed to be a sensitive topic.
“This one is not mine. I mean it is, but is a different one. I engraved some stuff in it, for extra protection. No demon can grab it and if any other angel besides the ones I allowed to touch it does, they are going to be slightly burned by it.” Now that you were looking at the blade, you could see enochian symbols written in the blade and handle. At the bottom of it, was an enochian symbol you became familiar with while doing research: Castiel’s angel symbol.
You looked at him and wanted to say something, but Dean was already calling for him.
He patted your head and signaled you to go upstairs. And so you did.
Births were always one of the things that made you more nervous about medical stuff, so much stuff could go wrong.
Kelly smiled at you when you got to the bedroom, and started rubbing at her belly while talking to it, to him.
“Look Jack, your sibling is here already. You are gonna be just fine.” The whole idea of Mrs. Kline wanting you to be some kind of guardian yet not exactly to Jack was kind of surreal.
You weren’t as young as Claire, yet you weren’t near your 40’s as Dean was, so they treating you like a kid always weirded you out, yet it made sense. You were closer to Claire’s age though.
You were bringing water to her lips as she kept having contractions and pushing, and suddenly, during one of her pushes, she whispered an ‘I love you’ before a bright light engulfed the room and you just felt energy soaring the entire house.
While you tried to rub the blindness from your eyes, you heard Mary leaving the room and going down the stairs.
When you opened your eyes, you saw Kelly wasn’t moving yet she was…clean. All the sweat and fluids that were covering her mere seconds ago were gone, and she looked peaceful. You arranged her laying form and covered her with the blankets, before starting to follow the shining foot marks on the floor.
They were directed towards what was supposed to be his room, if you took the giant paint on the wall with his name on it as a clue.
Everything was pitch black and when you looked at the floor and followed with your sight the path upwards, you saw golden shiny eyes looking at you.
Part of you was scared, well, more like on edge, and the other was confused, because you weren’t looking at a baby, nor a little kid.
“Hey Jack. That’s your name, you know?” you said as you reached half of the bedroom, as close as your instincts allowed you to go.
“…Father?” Now with your eyes a little more adjusted to the shadows, you were able of seeing how he hugged himself and titled his head a little. Heh, must be an angel thing.
“Uh, no, I’m not your father. My name’s (Y/N) (Y/L/N).” Without noticing, you were sitting on the floor.
“(Y/N)? Mom said (Y/N) would be my big sibling. Are you my big sibling?” oh boy…
You looked at him, and saw…not a trace of a threat, just pure curiosity and he seemed a little afraid.
“Yes Jack, I’m your big sibling. I’m, going to take care of you, as best as I can.” You saw him smile a little, but when you both heard foots inside the house, Jack went serious again, and you pulled your new gifted angel blade out and got on your feet.
It was Sam.
You wanted to relax a little, but you weren’t sure what he was about to do. He noticed, putting his gun away and his hands in the air, which led you to sheath your blade again.
“Father?” there was Jack again, asking the same thing he asked to you some minutes ago but this time addressed to Sam.
When was Castiel gonna show up?

Chapter Twenty, I Am Yours
Ella
About 16 Years Later
He was sleeping. His arm hanging off the side of the bed. His forehead was wrinkled. I couldn't tell if he was having a bad dream or a good one, but his eyes moved rapidly under his eyelids.
I crawled onto the bed next to him, and crouched over his head. I ran my finger down his nose, tickling it. "Wake up," I murmured.
His eyes flew open and he grabbed for the gun under his pillow before he saw it was me. He exhaled slowly. "What're you doing here?"
"I know how hard today is for you, Dad."
He groaned and shook his head. "Nope. I'm fine, kid. Where's Claire?"
"On a hunt," I said with a shrug.
"I can't believe you're dating a hunter,” he groaned, rubbing his face. His green eyes looked dull and tired. He needed to shave. "Not exactly a fathers dream."
"They say girls alway date people who resemble their fathers," I said gently with a mischievous smile.
His eyebrows raised. He pretended to be offended, pressing his hand to his chest. "I am nothing like biker Barbie!"
"Can you stop calling her that?" I asked with a laugh.
"Nope." He grinned widely.
Good. A smile. That's a start.
"Is Sam up?" He asked with a yawn.
"Probably. You know how he is. Up with the birds."
"And Cas?"
I shrugged. "He doesn't exactly sleep. Last time I walked by his room he was binging Game of Thrones."
Dad groaned. "We need to put a timer on his tv. It's going to rot his brain."
The bunker had been surprisingly quiet all morning. I think everyone knew that today of all days we needed to be gracious. We needed to be kind. He shouldn't be rattled, especially with everything that was going on.
"Maybe, but he likes it."
"And Jack?"
I reached out and took his left hand in mine. "Dad what's wrong? Why are you so worried about where everyone is?"
He shrugged. "Curious,” he grunted.
We were the same, Dad and I. We were cut from the same cloth. He squeezed my hand weakly. Today was a bad day on top of a million other bad days. We were trying to find a way to keep Michael contained, but he was worried.
By we of course I meant Sam, Cas, and Dad. I wasn't supposed to know, but I'm not blind. I'm also a really talented eaves dropper, especially when there's yelling involved.
"Want to get pancakes?" I asked him.
He narrowed his eyes and glanced at the clock on his bedside table. "Eleanor Mary Winchester, you're supposed to be at school."
I groaned and fell backwards onto the bed. I never would've guessed, based on my Dad and Sams history growing up that I would've been required to go to school at all, but I was so wrong.
Dad enrolled me in a private school, plaid skirts and all. Uncle Sam helped me with my homework, and with all the books around the bunker growing up I easily skipped a few grades in elementary school. My reading levels were off the charts, and I was easily able to do math and computers from watching Uncle Sam hack. Not to mention all the chemistry involved in spell work. Rowena was a great science tutor.
I was an almost seventeen year old high school senior. I only had two classes to complete next semester, and I was opting to take them online so I could help with hunts. Even though I hadn't told Dad that yet.
"Come on, Dad. It's the end of the week. Next week is fall break, and I'm already ahead on my homework. We can rent monster movies and eat way too much chocolate. It'll be fun!"
"No way, kid. You're going to school,” he said, patting my knee.
He got up, stretching. He turned his head cracking his neck with a satisfying pop!
"Sam May have already called me in," I said, hiding behind his pillow. I was wearing one of Claire's leather jackets, and a Harry Potter T-shirt Charlie had gotten me from Comicon a few years back, paired with my favorite pair of jeans. I wasn't dressed for school, and I had no intention of going.
He crossed his arms and glared at me. "I don't like you going behind my back, El."
I shrugged, twisting my sandy brown hair into a bun. It was getting long, and I kept threatening to cut it, but Claire's favorite pass time when we were alone was braiding it over and over again. Well one of her favorite pass times.
"It's your fault for creating this Full House, three Dads lifestyle for me." I shrugged.
"I am not Danny Tanner if that's what you're implying. We need to be clear on that."
I grinned widely. "Sam is obviously Danny. Cas is unknowingly Joey, and you're obviously cool but stern Uncle Jesse," I said crawling off the bed. I stood on my tip toes to place a kiss on his cheek. "It's way too late for me to show up now. It'll seem weird. Can we just please have a day for just us?"
I turned on my best daughter charm, bottom lip pout and all.
He groaned and pulled me into a hug, placing a kiss on the top of my head. "Fine." I was irresistible to him.
When I went on my first date with a girl everyone joked that it had to be from all the men I was around. How could anyone possibly compare to my three fathers, to the constant love and support? That's just what people saw, though.
I joked that it was all the mommy issues.
"Alright old man! Get dressed, I have triple chocolate pancakes with my name on them!"
Dad grinned. "Yup you're my kid." He said flicking the bun on my head. "I'll meet you in five."
I shrugged and walked into the kitchen. Jack was leaning against the counter staring at the coffee maker. I raised an eyebrow.
I always wanted a younger sibling, but nothing could've prepared me for what it was like to be an older sister to Jack.
"Hey Jackie," I said eyeing him. "Whatcha doin?"
"I want to make coffee... because everyone drinks it, but I just can't figure this out." Jack sighed, looking defeated.
I couldn't help but smile. "Let me show you," I said, taking out the bag of grounds. "Okay take this." I grabbed a filter. "Put it here. Then take a scoop of the grounds and dump them in. Push this back into place and press the brew button! Easy peasy."
His eyes widened as the coffee maker gurgled to life and started spitting out brown water.
"You are so smart Ellie!"
I smiled.
I was the woman of many names. Mom called me Nel when I was a baby, when I was in trouble I was Eleanor Mary, Claire calls me Ella most of the time, Sam mostly calls me Kid or Dean Jr, and Cas has experimented with nicknames, but they're usually so awkward that he sticks with Eleanor.
Jack poured himself a cup and took a sip. He almost dropped the cup, and he met my eyes and softly said, "Ellie this is terrible."
I laughed and shook my head. "Let me show you my ways." I said, wiggling my eyebrows. I walked to the fridge and pulled out the plain half and half, and I grabbed chocolate syrup and whipped cream.
I took his cup from him and poured out half of the coffee, and replaced it with half and half. I poured in a ridiculous amount of chocolate and topped it with whipped cream. "Try now."
He smiled widely and took a sip. His upper lip was covered in whipped cream. "I think I like coffee."
"Me too," I said with a smile. "Don't ever drink it black. I don't even really think Dad likes it like that. He just wants an excuse to be grumpy."
"Oh I do?" Dad asked as he walked into the kitchen. He poured himself a cup and took a sip staring me right in the face. "Mm. Yum."
"Good morning, Dean," Jack said with a whipped cream smile.
"Mornin’ kid." He winked at Jack. "What're you doing today?"
"Reading about social norms," Jack said with a nod. "I'm working on my interpersonal skills."
"Sounds fun," Dad said dryly.
"Castiel said it's essential for me to be able to exist in this world."
"Cas doesn't really have room to talk about interpersonal skills." I laughed and Dad nodded at me knowingly.
"What about you two?" Jack asked eagerly drinking his coffee.
"Breakfast and a monster movie marathon." I grinned widely.
Jack raised his eyebrows. "Is your life not already full of monsters?"
Dad and I groaned in unison.
Sam never liked Halloween, but it was Dad and my favorite holiday. We would always dress up in matching costumes, and stay up all night watching horror films. I would always sneak into his room and sleep curled into his back because it was too scary sometimes. From what I hear, it was the exact opposite of what his childhood was like.
I think he worked hard to keep me from having to learn to shoot guns and be afraid of the dark. Knowing that he fought monsters, though, was enough to make me not afraid. How could I be with The Winchester's as my protectors?
So we played pretend in the fall. We let ourselves watch slasher movies and pretend we were regular people. We pretend that I didn't get an anti-possession tattoo at 15, and that we didn't live in a weird underground bunker.
Dad sat his mug in the sink. "Let's hit the road."
"Can I drive?" I asked when we walked into the garage.
He stopped, and touched my shoulder to stop me. "Maybe you should stay home."
"Why?"
"You've got to have a fever if you think you're going to drive Baby."
I rolled my eyes. "My bad." Shouldn't push my luck.
"Get in,” he said with a laugh.
Dad always looked his most relaxed when he was driving the Impala. When it started up he always took a deep breath and smiled. No matter what he was going through he was able to find peace in his vehicle. A lot of people think that home is a place, but for Dad and Sam... that car was always their home. It's been the only consistent thing in their lives besides each other.
"The Little Pancake?" He asked me as he opened the garage and pulled out.
"Obviously. What? You new here?"
He grinned at me.
The Little Pancake had been our breakfast place since we moved back to Kansas. It had ridiculous pancake options. There's no way they could be healthy, and that's exactly what we loved about it.
He took me there after my first period, my first break up, my first C on a test. It was something special for just the two of us. Sam asked if he could come once, and Dad told him no, because they don't have kale pancakes. I think he hurt Sams feelings.
We went to our usual booth in the corner. "Do you think it's too early for a peanut butter milkshake?"
"Never," Dad said.
"Hey Dean, El." Our favorite waitress Cami said as she walked past our table. "The usual?"
"Yeah!" I said with a grin. "Plus a peanut butter milk shake."
"You got it," Cami said with a nod.
"So," Dad started, leaning across the table to talk to me. "Do we need to get you a homecoming dress?"
"Please," I groaned. "No way.. Claire would never be caught dead at a school dance."
"She might for you." He shrugged.
"Would you have gone?"
"For the right girl, I would've done anything."
I smiled. "You're a softy."
"Claire is too,” he said knowingly. "When it comes to you."
"You're all soft when it comes to me. I'm your Achilles Heel. Princess Winchester heir to the great throne," I said dramatically.
"Who raised you to be this way?" He laughed shaking his head.
"You. It was literally you."
Cami brought my milkshake and Dad's coffee. She smiled at him and lingered a little too long like she usually does. She was maybe thirty five, and she had a huge crush on him. She was pretty, and other than the fact that she worked in a diner, she was pretty spectacular. "You know she likes you right." I whispered to him.
"Me? No way."
"Dad come on. All the girls at school talk about how I have the hot Dad." Technically they say hot Dad's, plural, but there's no need to upset him.
"You should ask her out," I said gently.
"What?" He looked genuinely shocked.
"Yeah. You've been unhappy long enough, Dad. Put yourself out there."
"Eleanor, I'm not going to discuss this with you,” he said sharply. Eleanor. That meant the conversation was over. "So, what case is Claire on? Tell me about it."
I frowned and sipped my milkshake. My dad was my best friend, and I know how that sounds. We were tight knit, and I grew up being taught that family is the only thing that matters. Seeing him hurting was physically painful for me, and he was hurting a lot.
"Haunted house," I lied. "Seemed like a milk run. She should be back in a few days." She was actually researching ways to help Dad with the Micheal situation, but I couldn't tell him that.
"You worried about her?" Dad asked.
"Always," I said with a weak smile. "It's hard to care about someone that's always going. Especially when you can't go with them."
"That may be how it always is with you two,” he said glumly, sipping his coffee.
I shrugged. "Maybe, but I'd rather have her part of the time than not at all."
He didn't know that I had an interest in hunting. How could I not? It would be a fight when it happened, so I avoided bringing it up at all costs.
Cami came with our breakfast. Dad got a slice of apple pie with ice cream, and I got my mess of chocolate masquerading as pancakes. The conversation was over.
"I love this place," Dad said with his mouth full of his last bite of pie.
"Me too." I grinned, wiping the chocolate off my chin.
"To the video store?" Dad asked as he sat down the cash to pay and a high tip.
"Well, I was actually thinking..." I chewed on my bottom lip.
"Spit it out, kid."
"I was thinking maybe we could drop by and see Mom for a few?"
His back straightened and he visibly swallowed. "I.. I don't know, El. Is that really a good idea?"
I took his hand. "I think it's time. Don't you?"
He sighed and shook his head. It was always hard to get him to go see her. He was very cut and dry. The past is the past and that's it. No need in dwelling. But she’s my mom. So of course I had to dwell. It's a kids dream to have their parents together in one place. I knew I couldn't have that, and it was fine. I never grew up missing much. Cas, Sam, and Dad did a great job making sure I didn't miss a thing. Before Charlie died, she would come by and help me deal with the stuff the boys couldn't. Then Rowena... I have a big family, but there's still things that no amount of love can fill. More than anything, though, I needed him to have that closure so he could move on.
"I know you miss her," I said quietly.
He sucked in his breath and blinked a tear away. "Yeah, okay,” he said, tossing me the keys. I caught them without fumbling, which was a huge deal for me. I didn't question him, I just walked to the car and got in. He didn't smile when the car hummed when it started up. He just stared at the landscape as we drove.
We parked after what seemed like an eternity of open road. I took his hand in mine to make sure he could move forward. Pain was obvious on his face as we pushed through the iron gate. The air was chilly, but warm for October. The leaves crunched under our feet as we made it down the path.
"Hey Mom," I said gently, crouching in front of the polished marble. I reached out and touched her name that was carved in. Ava Winchester.

The horrific Resident Evil playthrough, interlude three
I just finished watching all of the Resident Evil movies I could get my hands on. When I told people I was doing this as the last part of my great year-long playthrough, they all let out groans and said something along the lines of, “Ugh, don’t you wanna end on a good note?” Undaunted by these words and fueled by my ability to tolerate crappy cinema, I moved forward, courageously making it through nine of these suckers...which, to be fair, ranged from surprisingly enjoyable to just as terrible as everyone warned me about.
Before I begin, it’s important to note that we’re dealing with two separate film series here. There’s director Paul W.S. Anderson’s Resident Evil Hollywood films, which are the ones that most people know about. Then there are three Japanese-made CG movies that are canon and co-exist alongside the stories of the games. The Anderson movies are...mostly ass. The Japanese ones are okay.
Let us start with the ass first.
Resident Evil - The first RE film came out in 2002, which means that what little CG it has is laughably dated and it’s refreshingly small-scale when compared to its sequels. The movie’s a fan fiction remix of some themes from Resident Evil 1, except with none of the characters from the games present. Instead, we have Paul W.S. Anderson’s wife Milla Jovovich taking center stage as Alice, the former head of Umbrella security in a secret base called the Hive that goes to hell when some dude tries to steal viruses. The entirety of the action takes place in the Hive, and we get a surprisingly tiny number of monsters, with just your garden variety zombies, a few Cerberus and a single Licker showing up. Even though she does run up a wall and kick a Cerberus in the face, Alice is at her most realistic here (she turns into a dual wielding mutant with the ability to make the camera go into slow-motion whenever she wants in all the other films), there’s a nifty laser grid scene that all the sequels keep referencing when they want you to feel nostalgic, and the Hive’s sentient AI, the Red Queen, is compelling enough that Capcom eventually stuck her in Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. Aside from this movie being full of British actors who do REALLY awful American accents, sounding like they all have mouths full of sausages, Paul W.S. Anderson’s first take on Resident Evil is probably the most watchable one he made.
Resident Evil: Apocalypse - Okay, this one is watchable too, but in more of a popcorn-munching “lol, this shit is dumb” way. It steals the general plot of Resident Evils 2 and 3, with Raccoon City getting infected, but ups the cheese by a hundred. Alice is now a thirteen-year-old boy’s version of a BADAZZ woman, with lots of guns and a bare midriff, and she teams up with Jill Valentine, who resembles her game self in looks but not exactly in personality. Together, they’ve gotta escape Raccoon City along with Carlos Oliveira, who is possibly the only character from the games who is done a great service in these Anderson movies, which make him much more likable even if they couldn’t find an actual Hispanic actor to portray him and had to settle for an Israeli instead. Oh, and Nemesis shows up, because one of the dudes from the first movie who accompanied Alice into the Hive gets experimented on and turned into what honestly looks like someone’s Halloween costume. The writers commit a cardinal sin at the end of the flick by humanizing him, having him suddenly remember his TRUE SELF and help the good guys, but aside from that screw-up I admit that I had a goofy grin on my face throughout several parts of this movie. After Nemesis blows up the Raccoon City station and murmurs his one line of dialogue- “STARRRRRSSSS” - I even kinda felt like clapping. So yeah, Apocalpyse is idiotic fun.
Resident Evil: Extinction - Here’s where the movies stop being mildly entertaining and become varying degrees of either “meh” or just plain bad. Extinction’s biggest problem is that it makes the weird decision of having the entire PLANET be wiped nearly completely clean by Umbrella’s virus, giving the franchise the most generic setting imaginable for a zombie flick - a post-apocalyptic world. And even though this film features Claire Redfield and actually has Alice fight a Tyrant that looks the part, I feel that by turning the environment into Mad Max the filmmakers missed the entire point of the franchise. Resident Evil isn’t really about a “what if” scenario with mankind dying and zombies taking over the world. Instead, it’s about how humanity manages to cope in a time where zombies are used by corporations for terrorism purposes - hence the franchise’s “bio-organic weapon” catch-phrase for its creatures. It’s about how brave people live on in an era that just happens to feature biopunk monsters as a deadly fact of life. It’s about the evil that resides within a world that is pretty shitty, but hasn’t completely gone to shit. By turning the whole planet into the same ol’ zombie playground that we see in most popular fiction starring these workman-like horror tropes, Extinction - which probably thought it was upping the stakes - instead just feels sorta dull, and anyone who views the film today is probably going to see it as a weaker version of The Walking Dead. Oh, and it ends with Alice discovering clones of herself, which will only serve to screw with the loose continuity of these movies as they go on.
Resident Evil: Afterlife - This one starts with Alice’s clones raiding the Umbrella facility in Tokyo, and the whole sequence - which feels like it should be the finale - is reduced to a few minutes of special effects in the beginning. (This is foreshadowing for the next two films, which both end with hints of giant, climatic battles that mostly happen off-screen, if at all.) The first thing that I noticed when watching this was how slow-mo kicked in every five minutes and how the camera seemed to linger on bullets, and I eventually remembered that this film was released during Hollywood’s obsession with 3D during the early 2010s. This explains Afterlife’s IN-YOUR-FACE-IN-THREE-DIMENSIONS action scenes, which are initially pretty in a music video sort of way but become overdone and tiresome as the movie goes on, kinda like a Zack Snyder film. (I place Paul W.S. Anderson in the same “style over substance” category of director as both Zack Snyder and Michael Bay, by the way.) Anyway, Afterlife deals with Alice teaming up with more survivors to try to find a secret ship haven free of zombies. Along the way she runs into Chris Redfield, who looks more like a janitor than the jacked BSAA agent that he is in the games, and Chris and Claire Redfield have a quick sibling reunion and fight Wesker in a scene with choreography shamelessly stolen from Resident Evil 5. It’s pandering fan service and sort of diverting, but ultimately none of it matters. Chris disappears after this movie and is never seen again, and Afterlife is more interesting as a specimen of 2010 3D excess than it is as an actual narrative.
Resident Evil: Retribution - Retribution amps the pandering fan service that Afterlife dabbled in to new levels. Ada Wong is here, played by Li Bingbing but dubbed by her original voice actress, Sally Cahill, probably because Li’s English isn’t that great. Leon Kennedy and Barry frickin’ Burton show up, both looking pretty much like their in-game counterparts. Even Michelle Rodriguez and a few other faces from Paul W.S. Anderson’s first Resident Evil flick make an appearance, thanks to the fact that this movie has clones up the wazoo and uses them to handwave away any series inconsistencies you could think of. So you’re got fan service for the people who like the games and fan service for the folks who liked the first movie, and on top of it all the film has the extreme 3D that its predecessor possessed and a buttload of battles because it all takes place in a giant Umbrella simulation facility full of stuff that can easily be wrecked. By now the plot to these things has gotten more scrambled than my eggs in the morning, but I will say that thanks to its inclusion of classic characters, Retribution is more or less tolerable. There’s even a bit of characterization this time around, thanks to a little hearing-impaired clone girl who Alice takes under her wing and begins to care for, and the movie ends on an okay cliffhanger in a Washington DC under siege, promising epic things to come in the next movie. Unfortunately... Resident Evil: The Final Chapter - I really did not enjoy The Final Chapter for a myriad of reasons. First of all, the Washington battle promised at the end of Retribution never happens. Instead, we fast forward to several months later, when Alice is (big surprise) the only survivor, and EVERYONE she was with in the last flick - Ada, Leon, the little deaf girl - is gone and never mentioned ever again. Wesker, who Alice was working with in Retribution, is back to being a bad guy for poorly explained reasons. Another bad scientist dude that Alice killed in Extinction also returns for even worse reasons, because supposedly Alice only offed his clone three movies ago. But wait, this “real” bad scientist dude is also revealed to be a clone as the TRUE bad scientist dude shows up in the movie’s last act! AND THE ULTIMATE TWIST (look away now if you actually care about spoilers) is that Alice is HERSELF a clone of the original daughter of the Umbrella corporation’s founder who died of a degenerative disease and served as the basis for the Red Queen AI. The idiotic thing is that this daughter was said to be the progeny of Dr. Charles Ashford in Resident Evil: Apocalypse, but this movie retcons her to be the spawn of Dr. James Marcus. The Final Chapter, in fact, screws with continuity to a degree I have rarely seen before in a long-running film franchise. Yeah, the framework tying this series together got weird as soon as clones were introduced, but previously it seemed that Paul W.S. Anderson at least cared about his own messy fan fiction. Here? It’s like he forgot what he’d spent the last 15 years building up to and ended on one sloppy fart. If this weren’t bad enough, The Final Chapter is edited in that god awful “shaky cam, lots of fast cuts” way that I hate. In fact, I counted something like twenty cuts in a scene of a few seconds when Alice is attacked by a creature, which means that this film won’t just baffle you with its disregard for continuity - it’ll give you a headache too.
Resident Evil: Degeneration - After watching an array of live-action flicks that took random Resident Evil threads and mashed them together with the elegance of a splattered turd, it did feel good to switch things up and move to the CG movies that were actually put out by Capcom. This 2008 offering takes place in between Resident Evils 4 and 5, stars Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy, and deals with a virus breakout in an airport and some of the pharmaceutical company backstabbing that occurred in the aftermath of Umbrella’s destruction. It’s all stuff that feels like it could have come from a lesser gaiden game - perhaps in the same vein as the first Revelations title - and it kinda gives off that “so-so anime movie” vibe, especially because the dubbing always sounds a tad off. Nevertheless, Degeneration’s still a breath of fresh air compared to the Anderson series, and there’s a nice gag where Claire’s searching for a weapon in the airport, someone hands her a physical umbrella, and she looks at it and is like, “Hm, didn’t see this coming.” (Lollerskates.) The main issue I have with Degeneration is how “plasticky” everyone looks - it’s hard to realize how far computer animation has advanced in the last decade until you look at Degeneration’s stiff visuals and compare them to the other CG films. Also, Leon’s characterization is terrible. He’s meant to be a super serious badass, I guess, but he mostly just looks like someone rammed a Samurai Edge up his sphincter. I prefer my Leon Kennedy to be the “Don’t worry Ashley, I’m comin’ for ya!” version from Resident Evil 4, or at least a dude with a little sass to him. The guy in Degeneration is about as interesting as a board.  Resident Evil: Damnation - Damnation is a noticeable step above Degeneration, both in computer animation, which really got better from 2008 to 2012, and in all-around presentation. The dubbing’s still somewhat wonky with that same anime movie vibe, but the characterization is on point, and Leon, who’s taking center stage once more, is just like his RE6 self. Speaking of RE6, this movie channels that game’s themes of international terrorism with a plot that involves rebels in a made-up Eastern European country using Lickers and Las Plagas in an effort to fight for their freedom, only to learn that lo and behold, the nefarious female president who’s seized control of their nation has her own B.O.W.s - in the form of Tyrants - at her disposal. Leon’s caught in the middle of this mess and ends up befriending some of the rebels, and Ada Wong’s also infiltrated the country to manipulate the president. Ada and Leon’s interactions are as insubstantial as they’ve been in pretty much every game that isn’t the recent RE2make, but we do get a cool fight between Ada and the president, who for some reason knows substantial knife fu. There’s an even better battle between Tyrants and Lickers in a city hall square, and Leon gets throw against pillars, regularly takes hits that would kill a normal person and pilots a tank alongside one of the rebels who looks a lot like Chris Redfield but isn’t Chris Redfield. This dude serves as the film’s sympathetic character - a guy torn from his peaceful existence thanks to political wrangling and is tricked into using B.O.W.s to try to achieve a brighter future. It ends with the fella severely injured but learning how to live and move forward in a world infected with nefarious bioweapons, which is the very theme that the Anderson flicks ditched around movie number three. So good work for side-stepping previous failures and recognizing what Resident Evil is all about, Damnation.
Resident Evil: Vendetta - If Degeneration’s a so-so anime movie, and Damnation a good anime movie, then Vendetta is just a good movie in general, with no “anime” distinction needed. The dubbing’s finally pretty decent, for one, and the story takes place in between RE6 and RE7, teaming Leon and Chris Redfield up with - HOLY CRAP - Rebecca Chambers, who’s been AWOL since Resident Evil Zero. They’ve gotta stop an arms dealer from bio-nuking New York and doing nasty things to Rebecca, who resembles his dead wife, and along the way Leon pilots a motorcycle on the freeway with his feet while shooting at Cerebrus with his hands. Nearly all of the movie’s considerable action segments are punctuated with rapid fire John Wick-style gunplay, and it works. It’s like the folks who made this film realized that the coolest part of Resident Evil 6 was the point where Leon and Chris point their guns at each other for a few seconds before deciding that they need to put their differences aside and cooperate, and even though you could conceivably fault Vendetta for leaning heavily towards the “action” side of Resident Evil rather than the “horror” side, it’s a well-paced film that finally gives us a substantial interaction between two series mainstays beyond the one minute they shared with each other in RE6. Also, people are still posting GIFs from Vendetta’s action sequences all across Tumblr and forums whenever arguments break out over whether Chris or Leon is TEH COoLER Resident Evil protagonist, so Capcom obviously did something right. If we get another computer animated film, I imagine it’ll lean more heavily towards horror since that’s where the series has gone recently...but hopefully the path of improvement that we’ve seen from Degeneration to Damnation to Vendetta won’t be broken.
And with that, whew, I’m done with RE movies, at least until the rumored Hollywood reboot that’s supposedly drawing inspiration from Resident Evil 7 comes out. (It can’t be worse than The Final Chapter, I suppose.) I can’t say that my friends were wrong when they warned me that half of these would be shite, but I also can’t say that I ended on a bad note, because Vendetta was pretty good.
After all this, my grand playthrough and consumption of all Resident Evil media is about to finish Next post I make will be a last look at the franchise as a whole...and what a year’s worth of zombie headshots taught me.  All screencaps taken by me.

SPN Advent Calendar Day: 12
Prompt: Bow  Pairing: Dean Winchester / Castiel  Warnings: none Word Count: 887 Summary: Dean has a special gift for Castiel this christmas and he really hopes Castiel likes it, otherwise he would just die from embarrassment. Link (if posted on AO3): https://archiveofourown.org/works/27823264/chapters/68683176
“I don’t think this will work.” Dean says and he looks at himself in the mirror. He wipes his hands on the black pants, because his hands are already sweating.
“Of course it will!” Charlie says, from where she sits on his bed. Eileen is sitting next to her and they’re both painting each other’s nail. Dean shrugs a bit helpless, he always thinks he looks bad in a suit.
“Dean how many years are you in love with Castiel?” Eileen asks and Dean is even more ashamed about that. He blushes badly and even the tips of his ears grow hot.
“Ten years.” Dean says quietly. Charlie sighs loudly.
“Look Dean, I know crushing on someone is actually pretty nice and safe too, but at this point it’s just ridiculous. Don’t you wanna marry someday? Have kids?” Charlie says and Dean nods to all of this.
He knows that she’s right. She always is anyway, that’s why she’s the queen.
“We kinda have kids.” Dean says then, smiling widely when he thinks about Claire and Jack. He did kinda adopt them, but it would be nice if they could give them a little sibling as well. Claire would be a wonderful big sister, no matter how much trouble she brings.
And Jack has so much to learn himself, sometimes Dean wishes he’d be a real two-year old and he could teach him to walk and speak, just like he did with Sammy once.
“And Castiel loves you so much Dean. Everyone can see it.” Eileen says and that is the only point Dean is not sure about.
“You all always say that but he never really made a move.” Dean says and both girls roll their eyes. Dean pouts.
“He literally told you that he loves you when he was dying.” Eileen points out and Dean looks down to his shiny shoes.
“He said he loves all of us. As in Sammy and Mom, too.” Dean says and Charlie groans loudly. Dean chuckles a bit, he loves it when she’s so dramatic.
“Course he does. But he’s in love with you. He watched over you when you slept, he always came when you called Dean. You know he left heaven and turned against his family just for you.” Charlie says and Dean knows she means well.
“I really hope so.” Dean says and Charlie gets up from the bed. She’s holding up a huge red bow and helps Dean to tie it around his neck. Dean’s smile wobbles.
He looks so stupid.
Eileen holds both her thumb up when she sees him. Dean is not really happy with the finished look, but he really hopes that Castiel likes it.
“Go get him tiger.” Charlie says and Dean kisses both girl’s cheeks and thanks them quietly before he leaves. His stomach in knots.

“Dean?”
Castiel walks into the bunker and looks around. Dean had texted him that he should be here at 4pm. He’s a little late, but Dean is nowhere to be seen.
Instead there is a huge tree in the war room. It looks wonderful and Castiel carefully strokes over one of the ornaments. He really likes all those colorful lights.
“Hey Cas.”
Castiel turns around to see Dean standing under the stairs. He looks really good, but Castiel is confused why he’s wearing a suit. Maybe he needs his help for another hunt?
“Hello Dean.” Castiel says and he can’t help but smile. He had missed Dean even though he was only gone for two days. He always misses the hunter, Castiel had known about his feelings for years by now but had never really acted on it.
“I’m glad you came, because I got something for you.” Dean says and he seems so nervous. He wipes his hands on his suit pants more than once and Castiel can’t help but frown. He hopes Dean doesn’t have another date.
“Okay.”
“I know it’s not Christmas but I wanted to give you your gift a bit early.” Dean says and he stutters over a few words.
“Oh, but Dean I don’t have your gift with me.” Castiel tries to protest but Dean just comes closer and actually takes Castiel’s hands into his own.
Castiel is mostly surprised because Dean often does something like that. Castiel knows Dean is touch starved as Sam calls it, but Dean always pretends he doesn’t need soft touches or anything.
“What is it?” Castiel whispers.
“My… It’s me Cas. My heart and my love and everything I can give you and - and I know it’s not a lot, but I’m in love with you, Castiel. And I… I can’t do this anymore. I need you.” Dean says and Castiel’s heart seems to stop.
“What?” Castiel whispers and Dean slowly tears up. Castiel is frozen, still holding Dean’s hand and now he understands the red bow around Dean’s neck. As the first tear drops down Dean’s beautiful face and his face crumbles, Castiel finally moves.
He kisses Dean.
“I love you too. Dean this is the best present I’ve ever gotten and I just want to give you the same thing back. I’m yours.” Castiel says, when he needs to breath again.
Dean smiles through his tears and Castiel had never seen something more beautiful. And now it was all his.
