Saw a video on tiktok of someone re-binding a copy of the Hobbit and giving it a really beautiful new cover and I could not get the idea of Steve doing that for Eddie out of my head.
He hears Eddie mention in passing that he's always preferred homemade gifts (partly bc of the thought that goes into them but also because people spending money on him makes him uncomfortable) and Steve decides he needs to think of something he can make Eddie.
Steve may not be considered "clever" by the others but I'm convinced that boy is a do-er. When it comes to physical and practical skills, he will just learn and do it. He painstakingly researched and buys leather and special glue for book blinding, and even learns calligraphy so he can write beautifully on the inside cover.
And when he presents it to Eddie, wrapped in stiff expensive wrapping paper, Eddie asks where he got it and Steve says casually
"I made it"
As if he didn't spend months, didn't ruin at least 5 other copies of the Hobbit before he got it right, as if it wasn't so much work and time.
But Eddie gets it anyway, he understands and that's why he immediately bursts into tears.

Just a daydream, but… If the multiverse theory is real, it means that in some universe each of my fanfics is canon. Each of the works I read, each of the fanarts I saved, is canonical. What I mean is that, even that stupid idea you have festering in your head or hidden in drafts, somewhere that story is canonical and loved by everyone. So it's kind of your responsibility to bring her into our universe :) That's a kind of happy thought.

Vincent Valentine of the Elite Four from Pokémon Holy/Meteor, releasing never on the N!ntendo Switch.
I put way too much effort into this for a dorky one-off, but here we are! I have a whole backstory for this AU but I will not bore you all with the details.

Some post donnieverse "Dee and Leon finally getting some sleep" shenanigans. b/c you know neither of the two were sleeping well the entire time he was gone.
Suggestion by @bex19974 which was "the twins reuniting for when Donnie verse is over" which i only just realized could be any of the donnies reuniting with their twins lol.
Anyways, this is my promised second speedpaint of january (since i missed december). Speedpaint will be up soon
Edit: Speedpaint up

Contrary to popular belief, I don't need my historical fiction films to be historically accurate all of the time. However, Ridley Scott hitting historians critical of Napoleon with a "how do you know? You weren't there" is CRAZY.

Zim, Dib, Gaz, and Tak are actually all horribly vindictive spiteful people to more or less equal degrees, but the interesting thing is that Zim and Gaz both exact vengeance in very specific, premeditated ways, which are often wildly out of proportion but once they feel like they've evened the score they will pretty much immediately forget about whatever pissed them off in the first place—whereas Dib and Tak are both ostensibly above being ruled by petty grudges, but very obviously boiling over with a constant resentment that sends them pouncing like rabid dogs at even the slightest opportunity or excuse to make the object of their ire suffer (and if they're both working towards their own self-serving end game that just HAPPENS to involve every terrible thing imaginable befalling their enemies, well... that'll just be a happy by-product of their personal success).
I don't I have any point to make here, I just like it when these freaks are all an overwhelming danger to society (and each other)

I'm currently writing a paper on signed communication systems in the South Pacific for one of my Uni classes, and there's this one source that's just hitting me different. It's about a man named Kagobai who was the only deaf person in the islanders' living memory, so in order to communicate he just straight up developed his very own sign language from scratch. His signs were only ever documented once, back in the early 1970's, at which point Kagobai was already in his 60s, so he's likely not around anymore, and his sign language probably died along with him.
And like, I'm so happy that there is any record at all of this wonderful man who invented a whole language out of necessity, but it's so bittersweet that the documentation isn't complete and can no longer be fleshed out. And it just made me think about how many individual sign languages and sign systems have probably existed throughout time and went extinct without anyone ever recording them, so now they're gone forever. And that made me sad.

Zukka incorrect quote based on a conversation my friends had in our trig class today
Zuko: I can’t figure out how to make this logarithmic function hit these points on the graph
Sokka: oh…I just made linear lines to hit the points
Zuko: but that’s cheating??
Sokka: no it isn’t
Zuko: it literally is- the point of the assignment is to create logarithmic functions, you can’t just use linear lines.
Sokka: well if I hit you over the head with a pan-
Zuko: WHAT?? why are you hitting me in the head, I thought you loved me???
Sokka, continuing as if Zuko hadn’t interrupted him: -and you pass out, then it wouldn’t matter what type of pan it was, would it? You would still be unconscious.
Zuko: what the fuck is wrong with you
Sokka: a graph is a graph.
Sokka: …
Sokka: also I do love you

Angeal’s most elaborate prank: Switching the salt and pepper shakers before setting the table. Also knock-knock jokes.
Sephiroth’s most elaborate prank: Putting out a wet floor sign on a dry hallway and gaslighting people into thinking it’s slippery
Genesis’s most elaborate prank: Changing Sephiroth’s ringtone while he’s the bathroom to I Wanna Dance With Somebody, setting his volume to max, and calling him 35 minutes later while he’s in a meeting.
Zack’s most elaborate prank: Notoriously dubbed “The Day Everyone in ShinRa Was Convinced That Genesis Was a Mermaid.”

See I honestly do find the prequels-era Jedi an interesting (and at times painfully recognizable) portrait of institutional violence in that...they aren't cackling villains. They're mostly sympathetic well-intentioned individuals who via a combo of traditionalist inertia, ideological blinders, proximity to power, a dash of plain old arrogance and a liberal seasoning of end-justifies-the-means compromise end up being at best indifferent to and at worst deeply complicit in some pretty heinous injustice. I don't even think this is a completely against-the-grain reading on my part. At the end of the day it's a pretty mild critique, but it's hard to argue that the PT is entirely uncritical of the Jedi imo.
Unfortunately the narrative is never interested in really sinking its teeth into that. And even more unfortunately, a chunk of the fandom will clutch its pearls in horrified outrage if anybody else is interested in sinking their teeth into that
