Jon Snow as Hogwarts Houses

Lately, I’ve been thinking about what Hogwarts houses Jon Snow would be sorted into. This topic has kind of been done to death but I usually see people box him into just one house (usually Gryffindor) when I think he has qualities of all four. He’s got a bit of Ravenclaw, great shades of Gryffindor and Slytherin, and is a Hufflepuff at heart. And honestly, in a way nature clashes with nurture: Jon is the son of a Gryffindor and a Ravenclaw, is raised by a Hufflepuff, and then joins an order half-full of Slytherins.

Ravenclaw

Let’s start with Ravenclaw because I think Jon has qualities of this house that aren't usually addressed by the fandom. Members of Ravenclaw are usually characterized by their wit, learning and wisdom. Ravenclaws are also intelligent and creative. I think that Jon exhibits these traits. Many times in the series, Jon showcases that he’s not just intelligent, but very creative in how he applies that intelligence. Some examples:

* Recognizing that the Watch needs to move towards archery and implementing daily archery training for the black brothers

* Thinking of building greenhouses as a long term solution for the Watch so that it can be self sufficient

* Advocates for the scientific method capturing of wights beyond the Wall with the full intent of studying his enemy

* Shows quite an extensive understanding of the world around him. Considers buying Myrish slaves and offering them freedom in exchange of their craft, understanding that the Vale has sat out of the WoT5K and so should have greater food stores, advising Stannis’ northern campaign with accurate information and sound military strategy.

These are just a few examples but Jon Snow is smart as hell. It’s even more impressive when you take his age into account. Now I don’t think that Jon’s a natural Ravenclaw; that would be someone like Tyrion Lannister or Samwell Tarly. Jon’s not naturally bookish which is quite hilarious because his father was a nerd through and through. Jon even starts out not truly understanding the importance of seeking out knowledge from books and ancient artifacts. He asks Tyrion why he reads so much and later questions Sam Tarly about the relevance of some old scrolls found at Castle Black. But this attitude changes as he develops. By ADWD, we have multiple references of him falling asleep on his desk after spending a whole night perusing through books and scrolls. It’s even mentioned that his desk is cluttered with all manner of books that need to be sorted. Sure, these actions are necessitated by an impending apocalypse but it shows character development. Jon eventually starts to understand the need for bookish people like Sam and wishes that the Watch had more men who had his learning.

I think there’s a funny parallel between Jon and Rhaegar, who was a natural Ravenclaw. Rhaegar started out as a Ravenclaw and then chose to become a Gryffindor after reading some book (per Barristan). Rhaegar thinks that he must evolve into a Gryffindor to fulfill his destiny as a prophetic savior. Meanwhile, Jon starts out a Gryffindor but moves more into Ravenclaw as the series progresses. As Jon unwittingly fulfills the role of the prophetic savior that his father couldn’t, he moves away from swords and towards books and scrolls. 

I like to think of him as a flop Ravenclaw. If you’ve had classes with him, you’d get why he was sorted into this house because he always excels in his studies and gets top marks all the time. But then you meet him in the common room and get to know the guy and go, “why the hell are you even here?!” He can simultaneously be the smartest and dumbest person you’ve ever met. Truly the duality of man.

Gryffindor

While he had to learn to be a Ravenclaw, Jon is a natural Gryffindor. No one can deny his bravery and daring, sometimes to the point of foolhardiness. Jon is determined and principled, never afraid to fight for what he deems to be right no matter the consequences. Unlike the Ravenclaw section, I don’t have to go too much into why Jon fits this house. I mean, look at the material:

* Initially wanted to be a NW ranger; rangers are like the Gryffindors of the Watch. He didn’t become one but he’s skilled enough

* Meets a zombie and immediately decides to throw hands jump into action and save Lord Commander Mormont

* Bravely defends Sam Tarly against Alliser Thorne and the other NW recruits

* Shows daring and bravery when he joins Qhorin Halfhand’s party beyond the Wall

* Becomes a spy for the Watch and then puts his life on the line to warn them of the upcoming Wildling attack

* Leads Castle Black in the war against the wildlings despite being badly wounded and severely outnumbered (and high af on opiates)

* Goes on a suicide mission to treat with Mance Rayder

* Once he becomes lord commander, he leads rangings beyond the wall; even intended to go straight to hell Hardhome where there are “dead things in the water, dead things in the woods”

* He even decides to throw hands with Ramsay march south to save his sister at the end of ADWD

I was searching around and apparently Gryffindor is associated with the element of fire. Well, well, well. Jon Snow is no stranger to fire is he? You know him being half a dragon and all. Plus Gryffindor’s house points are marked with rubies and Jon’s father wore rubies on his breastplate (see also theories about Jon being one of Rhaegar’s rubies). Just some neat symbolism there.

Slytherin

Slytherin tends to get a bit of a bad rep. Not surprising though because JKR decided to make 99% of the villains Slytherins. However, even among them there are some redeemable people (e.g., Slughorn, Regulus Black, even Merlin). The main trait in Slytherin isn’t ‘evil’ but rather cunning, resourcefulness, ambition, pride, and determination. Well, Jon has all of these qualities in spades. 

* Cunning: intercepting Cregan Karstark so that he can’t claim guest right or switching Gilly’s and Mance’s babies. These actions are as Slytherin as Slytherin can be

* Resourcefulness: almost everything he does as lord commander

* Ambition: he has always been desperate to prove himself. He dreamed of being a conqueror or a great hero (like his ancestor King Daeron I). In fact he joined the watch so he could earn glory and make a name for himself

* Pride: he’s not the most boastful and sometimes exhibits a sense of low self worth, but he also tells Benjen that he’s a better swordsman than Robb, hypes up his horseriding abilities, and feels prideful that he’s a good fighter compared to the other recruits. The difference about Jon’s pride is that he’s not always using it to belittle other people and even when he does, he grows out of it really quick

* Determination: one of Jon’s key traits is his stubbornness; he will go after his heart no matter the cost. He is also willing to see things through no matter the cost

Just because Jon is a Slytherin doesn’t mean he is evil. He can have a ruthless streak in him but he is ultimately a good person. Finally, there’s the symbolic animal. This might be a bit of a stretch, but Jon is connected to serpents isn’t he. You know, with him being a son of the dragon and all…

Hufflepuff

Jon Snow is the huffliest puff to ever Hufflepuff. Think about it. He goes to an ancient order that is essentially filled with the Hufflepuffs of the realms and once he joins said order, he is then immediately sorted into Hufflepuff. Even among the Hufflepuffs, he's a Hufflepuff. You can’t get any puffier than that.

Hufflepuff is very underrated but they’re a pretty cool house with some awesome people (Tonks and Cedric Diggory come to mind). Hufflepuff has some great traits too: hard work, loyalty, and justice to name a few. Jon exhibits all of these at various times:

* Hard work: he takes his job very seriously, whether as a steward, ranger, or lord commander. We have multiple references of him tending to LC Mormont’s horse and food, then when he becomes LC he takes a lot of time taking stock of what the NW has/doesn’t have, is very hands on with the day-to-day running of the Watch, etc.

* Loyalty: Jon is very loyal to his friends and family. This is why “love is the death of duty” is such a huge thing for him. He loves so much and is in turn very loyal to those he loves. Sometimes he is forced to choose between conflicting loyalties which makes for some great reading

* Justice: don’t need to explain this one. Bran tells us that Jon is “an old hand at justice”, he dispenses the king’s justice when he helps Alys Karstark, and even goes by Ned’s ethos of “he who passes the sentence must swing the sword”

But the main thing about Hufflepuff that I love is that this is a house for “the rest of them”. And doesn’t this encapsulate Jon’s arc? He is someone who has been told that due to his bastardy, he does not belong. Then he goes to the NW which is filled with the dregs of society and though he’s a bit rude at first, he comes to value his brothers over time and even assumes a paternal role. He then joins the Wildlings and comes to value their humanity where most others won’t. Throughout the series, he is someone who looks at those who live outside society’s protection and goes, “not to worry, I’ll protect you!” This, I think, is what makes him such a great Hufflepuff.

It’s really hard to rank these but if someone forced me, I’d probably say: Hufflepuff > Slytherin >= Gryffindor > Ravenclaw. If Jon wants to be a Ravenclaw, he’s got to read a few more books I fear.

This may sound like a weird ask but which harry potter houses do the datables fall under?

First I feel required to the say the obvious "Fuck You J.K. Rowling"

But now that that's out of the way, what houses do I think the dateables would be in?

I want to start with the baby boy Luke. I'm going to put him in Gryffindor! Luke is brave, he interacts with and stands up to demons on a daily basis despite being afraid of them. He is driven in his passions to bake and make Michael proud, and is quite chilvarous in his desire to protect MC and make sure they're safe.

Simeon belongs in Ravenclaw for his immense creativity that we see through his creation of TSL, but he's also very witty and provides alot of wisdom to Luke and MC.

Solomon, I'm torn between Ravenclaw and Slytherin. He is very good at thinking of creative solutions for things and has an answer for everything. But it's his motivations behind that thought process which will determine whether it should be labeled as creativity or cunning. I personally think it's more creativity and intelligence than cunning, however his resourcefulness would also fit him more towards Slytherin. So due to his resourcefulness, cleverness and his determination in regards to his pacts and his goals, I'm going to put him in Slytherin.

Barbatos is a Hufflepuff and I will NOT apologize. Barbatos, just like Huffies, is loyal above all else. He is extremely hardworking and dedicated to Diavolo. He is kind to those around the castle and I think he does have a sense of justice in the sense that definitely believes in punishments being served to fitting crimes.

Last, but certainly not least, Diavolo! Dia is a hard one because his personality is so large and vast. Instinctively, I want to put him in Gryffindor, but I think it's his colour pallet tricking me. Dia is actually a Slytherin. He is VERY cunning. He has tricked the brothers quite a few times in events and is known for causing pranks. He also extremely ambitious, I mean hello exchange program and determined. At the end of the day, Dia is a PERFECT Slytherin.

Blog created June 8, 2023. I am 28. I thought, what if Hogwarts Legacy had a Ravenclaw companion for the Sixth Year?? I immediately decided to make this blog after coming up with the perfect url.

For Lucy’s Questline, any OC / MCor canon muse can be her quest companion! It’s totally optional but something I want to try! I’m aware it might be OP if Lucy just somehow knows all 4 of the “Rewards” offered, so we can discuss if she learns it from your muse or if she teaches them to your muse instead but I think at least 2 of the 4 should be explored!

Lucy was once a devoted Catholic, Holy Cross draped over her neck and all. She grew up as the eldest muggle-born daughter of three sisters and two brothers, assuming many domestic duties typically expected of her time. To break out of poverty, her father arranged for her from the age of seven to be betrothed to the son of a wealthy Portuguese merchant. Life was simply predictable and perfectly planned out, or so she thought.

Unfortunately or fortunately, the discovery of her abilities as a witch became a conflict of interest.

While she was eager to attend Hogwarts, she didn’t realize how difficult it would be to part from her mother, who struggles to raise her non-magical siblings when her father walks out. She also struggles to maintain her engagement. In an effort to balance it all, she ends up resorting to using Obliviate on her family members during a heated altercation. She inevitably loses the young man she formerly considered as her “First and For-ever Love”. She got kicked out of Ravenclaw’s Quidditch team by her Fourth Year and is currently at risk of expulsion from Hogwarts.

Sometimes she wonders if it would be easier if she just drops out of Hogwarts to retreat to the countryside as a nun, but through her education and potential as a witch, she is drawn to learning more of how she can lead a more independent and fulfilling life. Who knew Gringotts Bank needed people to break curses to bring gold to the vaults! Who knew a dedicated team is required to scout the muggle world, to erase a muggle’s memories of magic and its existence in honour of the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy! Who knew Unspeakables of the Department of Mysteries saved lives by tampering with the laws of time?

Alas, who knows if she’ll complete her Hogwarts education… or if she’ll become distracted by something or someone else, and ultimately lose her chance to be properly trained as a witch.

I am super excited my new Harry Potter shirt arrived today!! Yes I am aware that the one on the left “Radcliffe” is misspelled and I’m okay with it. It just makes the shirt rare and unique. Also this was a limited edition, so I’m happy to have gotten one at all. Second, I’m a teacher and I’ve been searching for the one on the right for almost 2 years!! Emmeline Vance has always been described as ‘capable’. From a young age she was solving puzzles in creative ways and forging a path for herself early in life. Her parents offered Emmeline a safe and happy childhood, although they both worked long, exhausting hours at the ministry meaning that child-care was left to her grandfather who owned Honeydukes sweet shop. As a small child, there was nothing that Emme loved more than suggesting new sweets her grandpa to try and make to try and then helping him make the ideas from her imagination into a reality. When she was six years old, her grandpa gave her her own little apron and nametag for when she was at the store.

Helping out at the store truly shaped Emme as she grew up. All sorts of people stopped by the store in their trips to Hogsmeade - all shapes, all sizes, all races, all blood statuses. Emme naturally became kind and compassionate, willing to help whoever might need it no matter what their background. Her first signs of magic showed in the store - she had to carry 3 tubs of jelly slugs from the cellar to the top of the store, and managed to levitate one in front of her like grandpa did with a degree of concentration after huffing about the fact she couldn’t carry three with her little hands. Certainly, her grandfather was more of a parent than her own parents ever were.

The issue of parenting came to a head just before her ninth birthday, when her parents decided that they were going to move to France to start life afresh. Emme’s father had been offered a job at the French Ministry and they had taken it easily, jumping at the opportunity to start life again in the beauty of France. But Emme’s little heart broke at the idea of not only being taken away from Britain and the promise of Hogwarts, but from the most important person in her young life. A few roaring arguments between her father and grandfather while Emme was supposed to be sleeping (but was really hovering at the top of the stairs trying to listen to what the adults were saying) and the three adults called her downstairs asking her a simple question.

“Would you rather live in Britain with grandpa or move to France with Mummy and Daddy?”

Emme never answered verbally, but instead ran over and clung to her grandpa’s leg, who had been more of a father to her than her own father had. It wasn’t their fault, of course, that they worked long hours and hardly ever saw their daughter - but Emme’s decision was easy. And so it was that within the next few months Emme’s parents prepared to move away and prepared to leave their daughter behind (promising visits, of course). In January, her parents were gone leaving her to live with grandpa and grandma in their small flat above the store. Life passed by peacefully until her eleventh birthday arrived and with it, a letter inviting her to Hogwarts.

On her first day at Hogwarts, Emme learned that not everyone was as kind as her. Her grandfather had pulled her aside at Hogsmeade station before she ran to join the arriving students and said ‘be brave enough to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves’. Those pearls of wisdom stuck a chord deep within Emme, who had always considered herself kind but hadn’t had to put herself in any level of discomfort to be kind so far. She had lived a reasonably sheltered upbringing, after all. Cruel thoughts had not been present in either her home or the sweet store (after all, who can find it in their hearts to be cruel when surrounded by that much sugar). With that wisdom fresh in her mind, Emme made her way towards Hogwarts where the sorting hat confidently placed her in Ravenclaw. 

From there, Emme excelled at school. She had always loved reading as a child, and she made a name for herself quickly as one who always placed near to the top of her class. She engaged in lots of extra-curriculars including Charms club and Dueling club, and spent most of her evenings buried in magical practice and theory. In fifth year Emme became a prefect. 

During her careers meeting, Emme looked at the pamphlets before her and knew there was only one real option for her. She had half considered the aurors programme, but reading and writing had always been her passion. Emmeline applied for a job with the Daily Prophet as a junior journalist. Working hard at her N.E.W.Ts, Emme left Hogwarts with an Outstanding in all subjects and a well-earned place at the Daily Prophet.

Since starting work at the Daily Prophet eight years ago, Emmeline has carved a name for herself as a well-respected journalist. She always works for the truth no matter how uncomfortable or unsettling it might be, and is determined to bring the truth to the public. This has, on occasion, led to Howlers being sent through the post but Emme is not deterred.

Emme is a notorious coffee drinker and can almost always be found with a flask in hand. She also loves to bake, frequently bringing in home made snacks to share around the office - Merlin only knows that their office needs a sprinkling of happy on a semi-regular basis. She gets excited about any and all holidays, and her absolute favourite place to be is the beach - especially when she’s wandering up and down the sand wearing a cosy jumper and bright yellow wellington boots. Despite reporting on some of the atrocities that happen in the wizarding world, Emme still lives with a sense of optimism and an understanding that the world really is full of good people even if it might not seem like it.

Emmeline is committed towards seeking justice both professionally and personally for all. She believes that the way that muggle-borns were treated at school was unjust, and has continued to speak against this in her journalism. When it becomes clearer that Voldemort is truly persecuting muggle-borns, Emmeline will step up to work against him firmly. When Emmeline commits, she throws her whole self behind a cause and can never be called ‘half-hearted’.

Hogwarts houses part 1

Gryffindor

Mammon

He is a gryffindor because he is brave in his own way. But when he is brave he tends to be reckless which is what most gryffindors tend to do.

Not a slytherin because he is not clever, probably the most oblivious out of all the brothers. He maybe ambitious when it comes to money and mc but that’s not ambition that’s greed.

Not a hufflepuff because his loyalty lacks when money gets involved. Also, he hates work and only does it if he really, really has to.

Not a ravenclaw because he is oblivious to many things and does not do well with school. Also isn’t the wisest due to him being broke all the time.

Diavolo

He is a gryffindor because he was brave enough to start the exchange program, knowing how many would go against it (including his dad) and the problems that would follow.

Not a slytherin because beneath all the royalty he is a child who doesn’t want people walking on eggshells around him. He wants a lot but puts his job above that which slytherins tend not do because their ambition (especially ones with power) doesn’t let them.

Not a hufflepuff because, yes deep down he is a child who wants to be loved. His loyalty and trust hard to gain and will put the job over loyalty.

June is almost over and we are feeling the summer here: the last days have been sunny and warm. 

I’m trying to just study and not to think about how desperate I am about my exam (actually my exams, my last 3 exams). 

I studied a lot, I studied everything and maybe it’s simply too much for my stressed brain to process and remember. In the end, I may fail because I studied too much, but - in a word - badly: it’s what hurts the most. 

I am not an efficient machine, sorry everyone. 

As always, I didn’t manage to organize my studying at the best, for many reasons, so I could not revise properly all the materials. I definitely underestimated the difficulty of revising in another language.  

Maybe I will do surprisingly well during the exam, or maybe not. 

My brain is terribly full and tired. This exam seems ENDLESS and I feel like I’m burning out. I feel stupid for being so disorganized: I always overestimate my capacity and I end up with overloading myself and not accomplishing my daily goals. I don’t really know how the other people manage to be so efficient.

It was supposed to be a better month, but in the end, I didn’t succeed in my resolutions. In fact, I even broke some good habits (workouts and journaling) because of study: however, I’m determined to start them again, soon as I take this damn exam, whichever the result will be. 

I should consider that changes in life don’t occur in a few days: they take time and efforts, and failures as well. 

Okay, I complaint enough. I’m sorry if you expected this blog to be about positivity and productivity. It was meant to be so, but instead it seems to be more about the downsides, the mess, the anxieties and insecurities, at least for the moment. I hope to provide you with happier contents very soon.

Betty Braithwaite would remember her childhood fondly. It was simple yet the love between her parents and herself was bountiful. She couldn’t recall her early years, just flashes of her mother’s smile and her father’s glasses as they played with her. JACQUELINE and NICHOLAS BRAITHWAITE were both Muggle university professors. Jacqueline would teach english literature whilst Nicholas had his doctorate in ancient cultural studies and anthropology. Despite their busy schedules, they consistently made time for Betty, who grew up in their small apartment in Oxford. Betty had a curious mind, she learnt to read early just so that she could flip through the pages of her mother’s books and read the captions to the beautiful graphics in her father’s research. Homeschooled by both her parents, she developed a passion for literature and history. It was only when Nicholas returned home to Betty sitting on the living room floor with books floating around her that her father realised that she was not ‘normal’. Nicholas knew exactly what was going on as he’d witnessed such things before. Whilst Betty’s father was a Muggle, his brother, GABRIEL BRAITHWAITE, had been born a wizard. Nicholas had known about the wizarding world since childhood but had chosen to bury the memories deep. What should have brought the Braithwaite brother’s closer, only drove a deeper wedge between them as Nicholas remembered the jealousy towards his brother and feared that Betty might one day choose her uncle over her own parents.

And so the secrecy in the Braithwaite household began, Nicholas hiding it from not only Betty, but Jacqueline as well. If anything strange occurred, Betty’s father would try his hardest to blame it on a natural phenomenon or simply pretend as if nothing had happened. He refused for his beloved daughter to be swallowed by a magical world that had done the same to his brother. Betty hardly noticed. She just lived the life that she assumed every other child was living too. She didn’t have many friends whilst growing up in Oxford but then again, she did. Her friends were the knights and princesses, the dragons and donkeys, all things big and small that were in her stories. It didn’t take long before Betty craved more, desired more and eventually she began to write her own stories which were sequels to the books she had already read. As she grew older, Betty became a girl of honesty and wisdom. Her moral compass had been nurtured by fairy tales allowing her to know between what was right, what was wrong and what was grey. It was at this time that her first letter to Hogwarts arrived. Nicholas immediately disposed of it in the fireplace but before long, new letters seemed to appear everywhere and whilst Nicholas tried his best to keep them from Betty, it wasn’t long until she noticed something was up and that her father was lying to her. Almost like a feeling in her bones, she waited one night by the window only for an owl to appear and deliver the letter in her hands. Betty could not believe her eyes as she read the letter, yet something inside her knew that it was not a prank or false. Betty Braithwaite was a witch, just like in her story books.

After confronting her father about it, she discovered that he had known all along and had kept a whole part of her life from Betty. Upset, she reached out to her uncle, asking if he’d take her to Diagon Alley for the supplies she needed to start her schooling career at Hogwarts. Whilst her relationship with her father was strained, she forgave him and still loved her parents dearly, promising to come back every term holiday. The following day she had been whisked away to a magical alley with so many curiosities she could barely contain herself. It was during this trip that she met her cousin, ZYRELL BRAITHWAITE, who was twenty-one at the time and had finished his own Hogwarts career. The three of them sat down at an ice-cream parlour and spoke for hours about Hogwarts and the wizarding world. The following morning it was finally time for Betty to board the Hogwarts Express and begin her journey in self discovery. On the train Betty met the most interesting pair of twins, GIDEON and FABIAN PREWETT who were also starting their first year at Hogwarts. They were just as interested to meet a Muggle-Born but warned her that there were many on the train and at Hogwarts that would simply discriminate against her due to her blood status. During the sorting ceremony Betty was sorted into Ravenclaw and sat next to a friendly young boy named BOOKER BAGNOLD. Whilst the two of them would grow in different directions, Booker became someone that Betty held dear, someone she could always touch base with. Despite Booker’s apparent popularity, most people recognising him as HARRISON BAGNOLD’s younger brother, she knew that he was someone she could rely on.

Being in a world where magic wasn’t just myths and fairytales was overwhelming but Betty took it one day and book at a time. She read endlessly about the history of the wizarding world, Hogwarts, the Ministry of Magic and anything else she could get her hands on. Her thirst for knowledge of this new world just couldn’t be quenched. She excelled in most of her classes and studied harder for the ones she struggled in. Life at Hogwarts was fun and exciting but with every happy day she had a bad one too. The Prewett twins had been right and although Betty kept quiet about her personal life, including her blood status, it wasn’t long until she was being pushed around in the corridors or someone hexing her. This is how she met AMELIA BONES, a Hufflepuff girl who stood up for her at every chance she could. Betty appreciated the help and refused to let some stuck up students get her down. She belonged in that school just as much as anyone else did. As she studied harder to prove herself, she discovered that she was gifted with divination. Betty was specifically talented in being able to tell if someone was lying to her or withholding the whole truth. That’s how she knew her father was keeping something from her, how she knew when and where to wait for the owl with her letter and how she knew kids like WALDEN MACNAIR were just as afraid of their peers as anyone else was. Whilst Betty kept this gift to herself for most of her school career, it’s only when she became friends with RITA SKEETER, CAMILLE ROWLE and DAISY HOOKUM that she began to put it to use. Due to her writing hobbies, the four girls had decided to start the Weekly Raven, a school newspaper that centred around Quidditch matches, gossip and all things Hogwarts.

In her final year, Betty looked back at her Hogwarts career and could honestly say that she enjoyed it. She also realised that Hogwarts was just a gateway into the larger wizarding world which excited her so much. She was ready to ace her final exams and looking forward to a potential career in either investigative journalism or possibly becoming an author. It was just before the winter break when Betty found out the horrific news that her parents had been murdered. She wasn’t given much information other than it seemed as if someone had broken into their flat and murdered the two in their sleep using magic. Betty was devastated and furious that the aurors had treated it as just another killing in a string of muggle murders. From what Betty discovered, this so-called string of murders had been going on for a while and the lack of effort from the ministry was disgusting. During the winter break she stayed with her uncle and Zyrell. She had made up her mind, she was going to become an investigative journalist and expose the ministry for its corruption. She passed her N.E.W.T.s with flying colours and sent out her cv to multiple papers and magazines. Her most promising option was The Daily Prophet. About a month before she was about to start, the editor in chief, BARNABUS CUFFE sent Betty an owl saying that their current Investigative Journalism department was full, but if she was still interested in becoming part of the Daily Prophet team, they had an opening in the Arts and Entertainment department. Betty’s heart sank, but she still accepted in the hopes that having her foot in the door was better than nothing.

She packed her bags and moved into a shared house with a few other aspiring journalists including Daisy and THEODORE STEBBINS. Betty would work hard all day, trying to impress all those above her in the hopes that she may one day move up to investigative journalism. It wasn’t until EDWARD TONKS moved into their house and shared with her that he had a position in the Investigative Journalism department that she felt despondent. She had worked so hard for so many years yet here was someone, fresh out of Hogwarts, that had landed a position in the department. Regardless, the two got along well and she held her head up high. She continually attempted to send Barnabus examples of her work in the hopes that he’d one day publish them and she could start doing some meaningful work that could actually change peoples lives. After a long day at work, she would go visit The Hopping Pot and would offer to help close up. This is how she met AMIRIA MACNAIR, a young potioneer who had a lot of potential ahead of her. She recently started spending her free time with Rita, the two of them had a good connection by now and the chemistry between them was undeniable. It was through Rita that Betty discovered that one of the reasons she hadn’t been promoted was her lack of connections amongst the young wizarding elite. This prevented her from being moved upward. Betty was angry that her connections were holding her back instead of being promoted for her quality of work. She promised herself that one day she’d find a way to get published and expose the Ministry and its friends for the corruption within.

a twin, mikaela was born shortly after nikolai to anton karkaroff. she has no memory of their mother - she left not long after their coming into the world. her childhood was not filled with warmth ( which is what she wanted more than anything ) ; she and her brother were passed along from nanny to nanny, no friendships that ever quite stuck. but it WAS filled with privilege. a roof over her head, food to eat, the knowledge that there was very little that money couldn’t buy - including the assumption that she was a PURE BLOOD witch when she was not.

at hogwarts, nikolai was sorted into slytherin and she was sorted into ravenclaw. it raised eyebrows, but made sense. despite all of their similarities, they were also both WILDLY different. the warmth she sought after in childhood she did not quite find here either - her surname preceded her, and was written off by many before she could make any sort of impression of her own. kaela was in her mid teens when she started to struggle with her mental health ( that feeling of loneliness never escaped her ), and her coping mechanism was drinking, and it’s a vice she hasn’t overcome since. 

her professors always regarded her as a bright and TALENTED witch, but lacked the ambition she needed to reach her real potential. she was also regarded as reckless, though she was more mild compared to her brother, but a handful nonetheless. just as much as she was talented, she was also troubled. 

kaela has a very strained relationship ( if one can even call it that ) with her father. from a young age she resented him for the way he wasn’t THERE in the way that she desperately wanted. there was never any real improvement, and despite the negative feelings she had towards him and all he aspired to BE, she sort of thrust herself into pureblood society after graduating hogwarts. 

it’s LIKELY she tapped into karkaroff money before she made it on her own as an interior designer - only serving those that could really afford it, and lives quite comfortably at this point. 

she did not participate or even take a side during the second wizarding war. mikaela sat pretty, as she often did, and let the events play out. that luxury was not as readily available when the whispers of bellatrix’s return made it to her. this time around, she joined the death eaters - not because she SHARES their ideals, but because of a twisted loyalty to her family. it didn’t quite matter, she could play the part despite her differences. 

nikolai is, as cliche as it is, her reason for being. there is no one else that can relate to her like he can - they’re both cut from the same cloth, after all. for a bulk of their lives, they really only HAD each other. at the end of the day he is likely the only person she’d willingly take a bullet for.

an enabler/crutch - i think the idea of someone who saw perhaps some resistance from kaela when she first aligned herself with the death eaters and sort of. . . took her under her wing ( or tried to ! ) could be an interesting thing to play out. someone that in some way makes her. . . more comfortable ( though not overly so ) choosing the side that she did. alternatively, maybe someone sub-par that she fell into being friends with at some point that really does *no favors* in regards to just. . . improving her overall being !

Despite both being men, you two remind Gotham of Thomas and Martha Wayne.

It helps him stay awake. The longer he stays awake, the louder his music gets. 

Tim does not like ice cream - on family outings, he gets sherbert.

He’s very picky. You spent five days picking out the color of the sheets in his room because the current combination “bummed him out.”

He forgets that you aren’t supposed to draw on walls and uses his room’s walls as a piece of scratch paper.

You make him clean it himself.

This was unwise. He leaves it as is until there’s no more room.

Has an addiction to online gaming. He doesn’t know it, but you are his biggest rival online.

Because he always tells you “just one more round” or “until I lose”

So two hours later, when he still hasn’t logged off, you log on and grief him until he rage quits.

Then you console him as he complains to you, and you suggest he take a break from the game for a while.

You wonder sometimes if this can be classified as emotional torture.

It’s for his own good, honestly.

Has secret aspirations of being on Broadway - either in the Hamilton revival he’s planning for twenty years in the future or perhaps in something by Sondheim

His artistry continues into other realms

He writes fanfiction. This is not a drill.

If you decide to send him to school (Gotham Academy or wherever), he gets into a lot of fights.

Mostly in defense of others, but also the occasional “he looked at me funny” or “said something about my parents”

I’d recommend home-schooling or online school for Damian. It fits better with his schedule so that his sleep cycle isn’t completely thrown off, and it keeps him away from the little creeps running wild in Gotham (there’s a statistic floating around that 80% of the Joker Gang is under 18, and it isn’t completely inaccurate).

He is a history buff, particularly when it comes to battles and battle tactics.

And yet he struggles with Checkers, and for some reason, Monopoly.

Height: 157 or 5'2'' I think. I don't know we use the metric system here. Get in with right system people 👏

Hogwarts House: I have done the test maybe like 10 times and always get Ravenclaw but I'm not sure if I'm actually a ravenclaw. "Ravenclaws possess the traits of cleverness, wisdom, wit, intellectual ability and creativity. According to Slytherin prefect Gemma Farley, Ravenclaws are so competitive when it comes to academic success that they are known to back stab each other, and likely other students, in order to get top". I would say that I'm competitive but I would never back stap people or hurt them in any way, shape or form.

Dream job: ouff this is hard for me because I see myself working on multiple different fields in the future. I would love to be a creative director one day but also start my own jewelry line and go into fashion design. I'm currently studying to be an architect, which have been a huge dream of mine. And I have been painting and making sculptures since I was a teenager. I'm all over the place but give me any artistic or creative field and I would be happy.

Wearing: I'm currently wearing a specific type of nightgown called dishdasha. It's a common thing both men and women wear in arab homes.

Favorite song: it varies alot but right now everything Cage the elephant or Mansionair. My all time favorits though would be leave the city by twenty one pilots.

Favorite instrument: I don't play at all but I love to listen to the piano. There is a guy living upstairs that have his room above mine and I make sure that I'm always in my room around 9pm to hear him play. That's like my favorite time of the day.

Aesthetic: 70s futurism, cyperpunk, steampunk, dark academia, dark romanticism, Arabian nights, going out at night to the sea shore, painting outside on a grass field, cigarettes and coffee, rainy days, cold days, just winter in general makes my heart go 💓

Favorite animal noise: that's a weird question lmao. When a cats meows or purrs I guess? I can't resist.

Wizards Unite: Worth it or not?

I’m currently on the fence of whether or not I should start playing the new Harry Potter Mobile game, Wizards Unite.

I mean I really like the concept of the game. It’s from the creators of Pokémon Go, so it gets you moving outdoors and it’s almost like your in the wizarding world. However, I feel like if I download it, I’ll always be playing it. This is a problem for me because I work with children (both during the school year and in the summer), so I can’t be on my phone all the time.

Also I am unsure if it will add up to the hype as well. I’m just getting flashbacks to the Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery mobile game that was just a money grubbing app. I actually had to stop playing it because I was spending so much money on Energy and Gems. It was ridiculous.

So, I don’t know, is this game worth the hype? If you have any thoughts on this app, please I’m all ears.

Personality: Seokjin is a sweetheart through and through. He always tries to be kind to anyone he encounters and make them feel as equivalent as family. However, he is also persistent — if he fails at something, he will try again until he gets it right. He is as protective over those he cares about as he is about loving them.

Seokjin is a wizard who likes to have fun. He is cheerful, confident, self-effacing, easy-going—and yes, a bit of a prankster. He is not on the level of the Weasley Twins of course, but if one is going to survive in a world that clearly needs some merrymaking, one has to be able to take a joke and give one back.

He is caring, vivacious, inquisitive, and often considered the jokester in the group. Regardless, he is also capable of being tough and resilient when needed. One moment he is the funny and lively one in the room and, in the next moment, he can turn into the serious man who means business.

Jin is oozing with charm but can also be a rebel. He is confident when it comes to his physical features and often channels this very confidence to mask his insecurities when it comes to things he is not good at.

He is patient, stands his ground, has an independent streak, and prefers getting things done his way, even if that means he has to break the school rules. Although that might land him in trouble at times, he is often fortunate enough to find his way out.

Bio: Growing up in a religious family is never a cakewalk — especially if you are a rebellious non-believer like Seokjin. He was born in Cheshire, England on December 4, 1979 to Muggle-born father Kim Seojun and Halfblood mother Choi Joohyun. His ancestry traces back to Seong-buk Dong, South Korea. His father is a reputed columnist for The Daily Prophet newspaper, while his mother is a high-ranking member of the Wizengamot in the Ministry of Magic.

Seokjin started showing magical abilities at an early age. He was almost twelve when he got accepted into Hogwarts and was, hence, older than most of his peers. His wisdom and originality almost placed him in Ravenclaw, but his adventurous spirit proved to be far more dominant, eventually sorting him into Gryffindor. Donned in red and golden robes, he attracted a lot of friends who admired not only his boldness and confidence but also his inherent sense of responsibility despite his troublemaking antics.

Over the years of his stay in Hogwarts, there have been a few things he has deduced. First, that kindness is always going to be the best legacy to leave behind, come what may. Second, that courage comes only by conquering the fear, rather than not having any at all. And third, there has always been a striking similarity between all the people he has ever found attractive — they are all boys.

Yes, Seokjin is gay — and despite being a loud and proud open-book, this part of his life has always been private — partly because of the deep-seated stigma associated with the word in the society, and partly because he's never quite liked the concept of coming out.

The Kims are not inclined to waste time on coddling harsh feelings, and neither is Seokjin. He grew up ranging across barren moors, climbing trees, and tumbling down cliffs. He is sure-footed, sure of himself despite popular opinion, and holds a solid presence in a room. He likes finding things out for himself, preferring to discover the limitations of his magic through field-work rather than research. That is not to say he does not like to read at all, but he prefers to do it halfway up a tree rather than tucked in the library. Aside from the open, airy Gryffindor common room, he finds it hard to concentrate when trapped inside too long, and does better when he takes his homework outside, roaming the grounds for somewhere to perch while he studies—or procrastinates.

After the war, Seokjin was selected as the Gryffindor team's Keeper.
