It’s natural to believe you’re safe in your place of residency. You’re given locks, blinds, a security gate- all measures designed to invoke a false illusion of privacy. Of course, there are defects that no one can plan for that have the ability to shatter this illusion.
Mine happened to be a badly placed window.
Finding this apartment felt akin to love at first sight. It sounds dramatic, but I’m serious. Do you know how horrific real estate is these days? But when my eyes came upon piano oak flooring, the soft light of the day streaming onto a marble island, and of course, an in-home washer/dryer system, I was sold.
Due to my inherent awkwardness around meeting strangers,  and lack of overt charm, I’d never been one to initiate introductions with my neighbors. I moved in quietly, packing up my life into neat little boxes and dispersing them throughout the emptiness of my new space. It was only then, when I realized a strangely placed window that seemed to fall exactly where I’d wanted my bed to be.
And while examining my outlandish situation, I saw him.
I didn’t want to assume he’d been watching me. I wasn’t paranoid like that. Nevertheless, I didn’t want to give off the aura of, for lack of better words, a creep,  so the quick aversion of my eyes from his gaze felt instinctual. Curiosity won over me a millisecond later, though, and against my better judgment, I quietly peered into the window again, wondering if the man in the glass had slipped away, or had looked away from where our eyes met last.
What I hadn’t anticipated, however, was to be met with the unflinching stare of his eyes, far from concerned with how he came off, holding his gaze with an almost disconcerting and defiant presence.
He gave me a subtle nod, before walking away, disappearing from view. I was left feeling.. unsettled. But also strangely thrilled. There was a certain peculiarity in knowing you were susceptible to an audience at any given moment. I vaguely recalled social facilitation as a possible explanation as to why the concept roused me the way it did, but whatever it was, I didn’t feel compelled to attach curtains or any kind of barrier to avoid the phenomenon.
While my thoughts occasionally drifted to the man, I didn’t actually know anything about him. He lived in the building beside mine, so we didn’t even share so much as a landlord. I truly never expected to gain any insight on him besides the location of his domicile in relation to mine, and the thought didn’t bother me by any means.  I was completely fine with letting our connection stay as severed as it was.
Fate, on the other hand, had other ideas.
I found myself a few weeks later, struggling with an overstuffed grocery bag in front of my building, and in a terrible game of mismanaged weight and the flimsiness of grocery-store plastic, my bag gave way, scattering the contents of it across the ground. Further misfortune plagued me, as the bag in question had been holding a good pound of lemons, that rolled quite far from where I’d been standing. I immediately dropped to the ground, trying to gather up the ones by my feet in my arms, and noticed a presence nearby doing the same and bringing the runaway citrus to me. I was thankful, and was ready to express my gratitude to the helpful samaritan, until I saw a flash of recognition collectively pass over our faces as we made eye contact.
Him. The man in the window.
“You dropped these.” He says, his voice a little quieter than I’d expected from him, and I nod.
“Yeah, no. It’s these bags. Not really equipped to hold a pound of lemons.” I say, trying to gather the rest to my chest, our eyes still trained on the other.
“Can I ask why a pound of lemons?” He asks, a sort of playful lilt in his voice.
“Lemonade.” I say, almost immediately.
There’s a bit of confusion that flashes over his face. “Are you making a joke?” He replies, furrowing his brows a bit.
I realize that my response might’ve come off as too deadpan, and I shake my head to correct his misconception. “Oh, no. I’m serious.” I say, offering a grin.  “I love lemonade. There’s a work party I’m attending, and I offered to make some for the office. Hence, the lemons.” I continued, gesturing at the aforementioned fruit, and feeling myself ramble slightly, but it didn’t seem to offend the recipient.
“That.. is a surprisingly normal response, given the situation.” The man says, nodding. “I love lemonade too.” He adds.
There’s a bit of silence as we both picked up lemons together, the man more focused than I on the task. I took the oppurtuinity within the lull of our conversation to truly examine the man, finally no longer separated by a pane of glass, and my observations all seemed to point towards one glaringly obvious conclusion.
The man in the window was hot.
He appeared older than me, yet his age did nothing to diminish the beauty of his features. His doe-like eyes seemed to shine with the same curiosity that I felt towards him. His hair was a bit longer than I’d expect from a man his age, but it suited him. The smooth slope of his nose had a certain charm to it, and his cheekbones were impossibly sharp. I wanted to run my thumb over the bone, and kiss him senseless until we could barely remember our own names.
“I’m (Y/N). You’re free to come over.” I say, a little more rushed than I’d wanted to. “For the lemonade, of course.” I add, trying to not drop the ball when it came to inviting this gorgeous man over to my apartment.
“Spencer.” He replies, offering his name to me. “I'll keep it in mind.” He says, smoothly. He flashes me a kind smile as he places the last of the lemons into my other bags or directly into my hands.
I’d hoped “I’ll keep it in mind” meant “within the next few days or so” but waiting seemed futile after a certain amount of time had passed. He never came, and I even stopped seeing him as often through the window in passing. In hindsight, it was rather naive to genuinely expect a near-stranger to come to my apartment, on account of an invitation that could have been interpreted as a thinly-veiled proposition.
It felt a bit dull, his lack of interest. I’d had a taste of his attention, and for some reason, I was hooked. It was irrational, and illogical, but I couldn’t help the desire I felt simply at the thought of this man. And in a mixture of perversion, desperation and pure brainlessness, I tried to use the one thing that had rarely failed me in the past. Sex.
I reasoned by telling myself it wasn’t like it was guaranteed he’d see me.
And it wasn’t as if I was standing directly by the window, exposing myself for his pleasure, and his pleasure only. So hey, if he saw my figure adorned in lacy lingerie in passing, and felt compelled to act on that in any way he chose, well. No harm, no foul, right?
So that’s exactly what I did. To my benefit, it was one of the hottest summers D.C had ever had, so the lack of clothing worked in my favor.  I’d always felt quite confident in my own skin, so lounging around in bras, panties, barely-there cover-ups around my apartment didn’t strike me as the oddest thing to do.  I felt comfortable, and in turn, possibly seducing the man in the window. Win-win.
And “win” I did, in some way at least, because I noticed the arrival of lingerie correlated in a sudden uptick in the times I’d see Spencer taking a longer-than-normal glimpse into my apartment. It was fucking exhilirating, to have his regard in this strange, taboo way. I’d find myself imagining him, surrounded by a sea of sheets and pillows slowly stroking his cock to the images of my scantily-clad body. I had no real way of verifying if this was the actual case, but the fantasy was enough to bring heat to my cheeks and an ache in my panties.
It started to drive me a little crazy, however, when after a week of this,  literally no tangible reward came from the fruits of my labor. While I’d enjoyed his eyes on my form, that seemed to be all he was capable of. He seemed completely at ease with just watching (to my utter dismay) and it seemed the action I wanted him to take was sorely out of reach.
Reflecting on his shy, soft demeanor from the one time we’d spoken, I concluded that he might not be as forward as I am. It made sense; he never seemed to have visitors in his apartment and, seeming to be in his 40s without a stable partner, he probably wasn't accustomed to a woman's attention in this way. He didn’t exactly exude “womanizer” anyway from what I knew about him, and I began to connect his lack of initiative to these points.
It didn't deter me from continuing my attempts though. At best, I was at least providing a lonely middle-aged man some sorely needed imagery in the meantime. I’d always been a giver, anyhow.
It’s reasonable to assume there’d be some payoff down the road, right?
Wrong. I continued to wear increasingly revealing lingerie, going as far as just walking around naked once in a while. Nothing. I was a fucking saint at this point for continuing this for him.
It didn’t help that my mind insisted on taunting me with what I couldn’t have, as a moment of spare time in my day would constantly be preoccupied with thoughts of him in my bed, pinning my hands down and kissing up and down my neck. I’d imagine him pounding into me, or bouncing up and down on his cock, bringing us both to the throes of pleasure. I couldn’t halt the depravity of my thoughts, no matter how hard I tried.
What I also couldn’t stop, was the slow descent of my fingers into my panties one night, finding a delectable mess within them, signifying my deep arousal associated with the man. It’d been a long few weeks,  the smell of summer and heat encasing my apartment, and a profound craving I couldn’t resist. I breathed out a sigh of relief as I began rubbing the small nub, alternating between up and down motions, and then a slow, circular rub. Little moans poured out my lips, before I quickly shed my panties entirely, watching a string of arousal stuck to them, kicking them haphazardly to the side, wanting more access to my clit.
My eyes naturally closed as I found myself lazing towards the precipice of release. Soft sighs and moans filled my apartment as I let my fingers rub a bit more desperately. I could see flashes of him again behind my eyes, his hand on me, instead of my own,  mirroring the actions I was performing. A gasp of his name came tumbling out of me as the image became clearer and clear, my eyes opening almost frantically as I felt myself closer and closer.
That’s when I got the strangest sensation, and felt a pair of eyes on me. I jolted my head to the left, and saw Spencer, who was clearly watching at this point. His gaze was entirely trained on me, and similar to the first time he saw me, our eye contact didn’t deter him from his observation.
I refused to let it either, and kept my gaze trained on him. I was entirely exposed. I wouldn’t have been able to stop my actions if I’d had a gun to my head. It just felt too fucking good. A moment more of eye contact from him, and I felt the familiar clench and release from my body, waves of pleasure wracking my body. I let out another moan, but not once did my eyes leave his, as my back arched against my sheets, a silent plea on my part being conveyed.
Come here. What could you possibly be waiting for?
I watched him disappear from the window as I finished, both literally and figuratively, and panted, wondering if finally, finally, my prayers and fervent supplications would be answered.
After about 30 minutes, my anticipation was replaced with severe disappointment when I realized even after then, he wasn’t coming. I could no longer see him in the window, and at this point it seemed a little silly and pathetic to continue expecting him to come.
Maybe he was just entirely sexually inadept. That could be a possibility, right? How much more explicit could I get than this? I’d masturbated in front of him! Albeit, through a window, but masturbation regardless! Was this seriously all he was willing to do?
I roll my eyes at the thought. I came to accept that maybe, truly, there was nothing I could do to get this man to fuck me the way I deserved. Fine.
As I closed my eyes to get some necessary rest after my endeavors, I made up my mind that I’d buy curtains tomorrow. Fuck Spencer Reid, and his absolute inability to take any action in his goddamn life. Fuck this apartment. Fuck everything.
Was I dramatic? Yes. Was I still right? Also yes.
Despite the sour mood I’d taken to bed with me that evening, my dreams were anything but. The idea of Spencer Reid holding me down, whispering sweet and dirty nothings alike were all still incredibly tantalizing to my subconscious. I could hear his voice in my ear, soft pink lips brushing against the shell of my ear, a deep pressure imprinted onto my body, keeping me in my bed.
“Wake up, sweetheart.” He murmured, beckoning me out of the peaceful cocoon of sleep.
I felt a few more wet and warm kisses trailing up and down my neck, the sweetest sensation of pleasure being granted to me with every touch he gave.
“Need you to wake up, pretty girl.” He mumbles. “You really are so pretty up close.” His voice is slightly patronizing, and it does nothing to help the excitation that was steadily growing inside of me.
Suddenly, I became incredibly aware that the stimuli I was receiving didn’t appear to be a byproduct of my psyche, but rather- he was here? My eyes opened slowly to realize I wasn’t at all mistaken, the soft brush of his brown hair against my neck slightly tickling me as I came to.
“Atta girl.” He mumbles, his lips still mapping out every inch of my skin. Out of pure instinct, a slightly alarmed moan came from me, still unsure if I was dreaming or not. Surely I had to be dreaming. I had to be, because how the fuck did Spencer Reid get into my apartment? Into my bed?
“You want this, yeah?” He murmurs, taking a second to gaze down at me. I realized he’d been on top of me this whole time, and the pressure I’d felt in my dream was his skin on mine, trapping me in between his strong chest and the soft sheets adorning my mattress. “I know you do. Saw your little show and everything.” He breathes out, desperately, almost.
I know I should’ve thought about it. Perhaps I should’ve pondered on the idea of letting a man who’d just broken into my apartment full access to my body as he pleased, but there was no time. He was here, and how could I have ever said no to that?
There’s an equally as desperate and breathy, “yes” that escapes my lips, and before I can finish saying the word, he dives down, meeting my lips with his, absolutely devouring me with no hesitation whatsoever.  If I'd thought his previous ministrations were delightful, this was absolutely heavenly.
I moan softly into his mouth, wanting to tangle my hands in his hair, or latch them onto his shoulders and sink my nails deep into the skin that resided there- anything to show even a semblance of control in this situation, but it seemed Spencer had already thought of that, pinning my hands against the mattress so tightly, I couldn’t have moved if I’d exerted every last bit of strength into it.
“God, the first time- first time I saw you.” He mumbles in between kisses. “With those lemons. I knew they’d fall. Saw you through the window across the street and practically ran. Wanted to meet you so badly.”
A small whimper escapes me, and I can’t help but get wetter at the thought. I knew he’d been watching me through the window, but the idea that I captured his attention, outside of my apartment, in the most mundane of situations only served to heighten the arousal I felt, my thighs rubbing together for any kind of relief.
He notices the movement and grins, planting one last kiss on my lips before slipping down. His hands cup the backs of my knees, forcing me to spread my previously shut legs.
“You had the prettiest voice.” He breathes out, examining my glistening heat. “Fuck. Couldn’t stop thinking about how you’d sound, screaming my name.” He leans forward, planting a chaste kiss on my clit that caused an incredibly breathtaking jolt through my body.
“Spencer-” I moan, my head rolling back as I felt it, my back arching slightly.
“Yeah, just like that.” He mumbles, clearly pleased. “Good girl.”
His hands traveled upward from where he’d been situated between my legs and squeezed my breast blindly. It didn’t feel like it was for my pleasure, but rather that he was desperate to touch anywhere he possibly could. Anyone else, and I might’ve been annoyed with the incessant touching, but with him?
 It was so fucking hot.
“That goddamned lingerie.” He mumbles. “The things I wanted to do to you. Did you know that?”
I looked at him through hooded lids, unsure what he meant, and he took my diversion of attention to quickly tweak one of my nipples, eliciting another surprised moan from my mouth.
“I’m so much stronger than this, usually.” His large hands continue to squeeze and grope at my breasts. “But you.” He whispers, a hint of a growl making its way into his tone. “Had to push the limits. Practically begging me to come here and take you.”
I let out a gasp as I felt his hands trail down my stomach, the cool touch of his fingertips causing the muscles to tense up there.
“I’m gonna do it.” He whispers, his face only illuminated by the moonlight streaming through the open window, but I could still see the dangerous glint in his eye, thrilling me even further. “Fuck you exactly how you want it.”
Before I’m able to react to the sentiment, he’s grabbing onto my hips and turning me over, a yelp drawn out from me.
“Hands and knees.” He says, in an authoritative tone that doesn’t leave any room for any disagreement. I comply quickly, much to his elation.
“You’re so good for me, yeah? Gonna ruin you. Just how you want.”
There’s a hint in condescension in his tone, like he’s making fun of me for wanting to be fucked this badly, but I can barely pay any mind about it, especially when I feel his cock slotting itself betweet my folds, separated only by his boxers, a shaky moan coming from Spencer.
I can feel his hands leaving my hips and the slight lean away as he quickly shucks off the fabric, and within the next second, he’s pushing into me, providing me with a stretch and fulfillment that was so much better than I could’ve ever imagined. It doesn’t take him long to set a fast pace, the sound of our skin slapping and the smell of sex permeating the room.
“Fuck, you feel so good.” He moans out, and I let out similar noises in tandem.
I can barely find it in me to stay coherent. I want to scream how good he feels, how big his cock feels in me, how close I was- but instead the only thing I could manage was the borderline scream of his name and loud sobs of pleasure, fully at the mercy of the man behind me. I can feel the way I clamp down on him, absolutely imploring him for as much as he could give me.
“Gonna come for me, yeah?” He says, feeling the clench of my walls on his cock.  “Come on, pretty girl. Give me what I want.” He murmurs lowly, leaning down closer to my ear. His hand shoots out a moment later, beginning to rub my clit, similar to how I had been doing a few hours earlier as he watched me, and the memory and sensation of it is enough to hurl me off the edge, my walls tightening around his cock as waves of pleasure wracked through my body.
It seemed that was enough for him as well. I felt his hips still, and a sudden warmth at my deepest point. He let out a groan of relief as he thrusted once, twice more, and then pulled out, his cum slipping down my thighs as he plopped down next to me. I’d already collapsed the second he pulled out, panting as I came down from the orgasm.
“You good?” He mumbles, wearily, and I can feel him moving aside my hair to kiss at my shoulder.
“Mhm.” I murmur back, a small sigh of relief escaping me. There’s a beat of silence, before he breaks it.
“Tomorrow.” He murmurs. “Wanna go out with me?”
I raise an eyebrow, turning at him with a playful expression- as playful as I could get in this state anyway. “Where to?”
“Target.” He mumbles, still stroking my back lazily, his eyes shining with something less intense than lust now, but still enough to turn my stomach over with butterflies.
“Target?” I say, squinting my eyes. “Why Target?”
“We’re buying you some curtains.” He says, a small grin appearing on his face. “And maybe a stronger lock.”
I giggle at that, rolling my eyes a bit.  “But then you don’t get to see me anymore. I kind of liked what we had going on.”
“I did too.” He whispers, his tone slightly vulnerable now. “But I like this a lot more.”
A small smile plasters itself to my face as I nod.
“Me too.” I whisper back, biting my lip.
A mutual understanding passed through the both of us as we smiled at each other in the dark, and for a split second, I imagined myself possibly loving this more someday.
All in good time. Right now, I was going to sleep, protected by his soft, strong arms. That was enough for now. We’d finally gotten what we wanted.

Celebration night | Aitana Bonmati x reader
+18 minors please do not read it.
A/N: English is not my first language, sorry for the mistakes.
Tumblr media
The final whistle blew, and the roar of the crowd echoed through the stadium. Aitana collapsed to her knees, tears of joy streaming down her face. They had done it, they had won the Champions League against the team that had broken their dreams many times before, in Bilbao with a stadium full of Culers they had rewritten history and now the European dynasty was theirs.
You watched from the stands, heart pounding with pride and exhilaration as you saw your girlfriend complete another dream and as Aitana looked up and saw you, her smile lit up the entire arena.
You made your way down to the pitch, weaving through all of the jubilant fans that were there. Aitana spotted you, and her face broke into a wide grin. She sprinted towards you and jumped into your arms, nearly knocking you over.
"We did it!" Aitana exclaimed, her voice choked with emotion.
"I never doubted you and the team for a second," you replied, holding her tightly.
The celebrations moved into the locker room and then onto the team bus, where the party continued with loud music, singing, and dancing. You found yourself swept up in the infectious energy. Later after some dinner and getting ready, the team gathered at a chic downtown nightclub reserved just for them. The music thumped, and the lights flickered in sync with the beats. You and Aitana were inseparable, her hand never leaving yours, she pulled you onto the dance floor, and you danced together, lost in the euphoria of the night.
"Can you believe it?" Aitana shouted over the music, her eyes sparkling.
"You deserve every bit of this," you said, gazing at her with admiration.
Eventually, Aitana leaned close and whispered in your ear, "Let's get out of here. I want to celebrate with you, just the two of us."
You nodded, and the two of you slipped out of the club unnoticed. Hand in hand, you walked back to her hotel room, thanking all the gods the girls were given individual rooms for the night, the cool night air a welcome relief from the heat and noise of the party. In the elevator, Aitana rested her head on your shoulder, a content sigh escaping her lips.
"Tonight has been perfect," you murmured.
"It's about to get even better," Aitana promised, kissing the top of her head.
When you reached her room, you fumbled with the key card you kept in your bag, your hands trembling with excitement just thinking about what could happen in a moment. Finally, the door clicked open, and you stepped inside.
Without another word, but looking into your eyes trying to find some sign that you didn't want her to continue, Aitana moved her hands to the blouse you were wearing and began to undo the buttons one by one until it was completely open revealing a white bra that covered your breasts. Aitana looked at them unabashedly and brought her hands up to them and began to caress them over the bra.
“Can I kiss you baby?” you asked suddenly.
Aitana looked at you for a few seconds and a small smile formed on her face.
“Do you want to kiss me? My mouth can do many things if I’m not kissing you baby girl” Aitana said as she slid your bra to the side freeing your breasts and began to caress your rock-hard nipples.
“I really want to kiss you," You whispered between moans as your breasts were very sensitive.
“Then ask properly," Aitana moved closer to your face, coming within inches of your lips.
“Please, baby... “ You murmured in utter desperation.
Aitana finally complied with the request, crashing her lips against yours and kissing you passionately. At that moment, Aitana went out of control, thrusting her tongue into you, and doing whatever she wanted with her mouth and body as her hips inevitably began to move against your thigh, eliciting slight moans from her mouth as well as you couldn’t stop loud moans.
“Shhh, you don't want anyone to hear us, do you, baby girl?” Aitana moaned as her hips moved a little faster.
You tried to control your moans, but what you were feeling right now was too much. Aitana continued to play with your nipples, tugging on them every chance she could as she began to feel the wetness of your crotch seep down her trousers to her thigh.
“Silence," Aitana ordered after a too loud moan.
You bit your lip trying to hold back as Aitana’s lips drifted to your neck, sucking hard and knowing you would end up with a big mark on it. Aitana was marking you as hers, as her property and that turned you on even more, and apparently Aitana too because her hips were moving harder and harder against you.
“I need you to... please... “ you began to babble.
“What do you need, baby girl?” Said Aitana mockingly.
“I need... please... I need... please... “ your head couldn't even form a sentence” Touch me…”
Luckily for you, Aitana didn't make much of a fuss and in one deft movement, she unbuttoned your trousers and slipped her hand down to find your clit soaking wet.
“So wet for me.... “  Aitana said with a moan.
“Yes... Yes... yes…” was all you were able to formulate as you arched her back wanting to feel her even more.
Aitana began to caress your clit without a second thought, knowing that even though she had just started touching you, you were almost on the verge of cumming, just like her. The next few minutes were an endless stream of erratic movements. You clung to Aitana's waist, helping her to rub against her thigh, while Aitana stroked you as she moved her hips and kissed you, barely letting you breathe to muffle the moans that inevitably escaped you both.
“I'm going... I'm going to come... “ you said between kisses, digging your nails into Aitana's waist without being able to help it.
“Come for me baby girl..." Aitana answered, feeling that she was going to cum too.
You both came practically at the same time between moans, scratches, bites, and above all heat, a lot of heat. You breathed heavily, pressing the back of your hand to your forehead. You slowly slid your legs together, ignoring the urge to go clean yourself up as the sticky substance between your thighs only spread.
“You’re so pretty when you do that,” Aitana’s voice sighed happily, she placed a kiss on your forehead before lying down beside you.
“Not as pretty as you are doing it,” you argued, shooting her a cheeky smile.
“I am beautiful,” Aitana admitted. She kissed your collarbone lightly before grabbing you by the waist. You grunted loudly as she pulled you into a seated position. “But you, my love, are the sun after a long storm.”
“Why are you waxing poetic to me?” you laughed, crossing your legs together.
Aitana yanked you to the end of the bed, settling down behind you. A full-length mirror was situated right across from your hotel bed, and the position Aitana held you in gave you the perfect view of your bare body to her and to yourself.
“Because I want you to know just how amazing you are.” Aitana pressed kisses down your neck, her hands sliding back down around your front.
“Tana,” you whined out her name, letting your tilted head fall back against her peaked breasts. Your eyes fluttered close at the sensations that her touch sent throughout your body.
“Uh-uh.” Aitana squeezed your hip tightly as her lips withdrew from your neck. “Eyes open. I want you to see how beautiful you are.”
“That’s so embarrassing,” you groaned out. But when her lips did not return back to your skin, you begrudgingly opened your eyes again. You stared at your own image being reflected back at you, your dilated pupils and sweaty skin. Your chest was heaving, breath still heavy from the last orgasm Aitana had pulled from you.
“Stop complaining!” Aitana said in her commanding voice.
You laughed quietly and opened your neck back up to her, letting her mouth trail across your sensitive skin once again. She spread your legs open with her hands, exposing your most private areas to yourself. Your clit was swollen and puffy, sticking out from the hood of your cunt. Your slick covered your folds, glistening in the light of the room. It felt wrong to be staring at yourself like that, it felt wrong to become even more turned on by the sight of your dripping core. And if anyone else had tried to get you to do this before Aitana, you knew that you’d never have felt comfortable enough to let go and enjoy the view. But it was this woman pressed up against your back who made you feel sexy, made you feel worthy of every touch.
“So pretty and wet for me,” Aitana mumbled against your skin. Her eyes flicked up away from your skin, meeting your own in your reflection. The pads of her fingers dipped in between your legs, taking a slow stroke up your slit. You could see your hips jumping at the contact, and witnessed the shiver that shook your body at her touch. You had a perfect view of her finger as it settled against your clit and began to lightly circle it.
“Oh,” you moaned out, grabbing hold of her thighs tightly.
You hadn’t thought the sight would have been so incredible. Didn’t think that simply seeing your girlfriend the love of your life stroking at you would stir up such an intense tightening in your stomach. But knowing that both of you were caught up in the sight of Aitana bringing you pleasure, turned you on more than you had ever thought possible. And when her other hand slid between your legs and immediately slipped two fingers inside of you, you thought that you had never experienced anything better before.
“Look at you, such a good girl,” Aitana whispered in your ear. “You open up so easily for me.”
You moaned out her name, your nails digging lightly into her skin. She gasped against your ear, but you refused to loosen your grip. You knew how much the pain only spurred her on, how much she enjoyed seeing the marks you had created against her back.
“Those are the best war wounds a girl could get,” she would tell you with a smirk.
So when her fingers began to stretch out your entrance, all while her finger circled your clit with a speed you had not felt from her before, you did not hold back the squeak of her name nor the tightening of your fingers against her skin.
Aitana worked you with the expertise that could only come with being in a relationship with someone for a long time, you have been together for 5 years. She worked your most sensitive spots, her eyes narrowing in determination. Your slick spilled out of you with every removal of her fingers, which were soaked as well. That tightening in your stomach continued to tighten, threatening to snap entirely. Your hips stuttered forward, your eyes fluttering but not fully shutting.
But then Aitana removed her fingers from inside of your entrance.
You whined out her name, bucking your hips back up to her in impatience. She tutted you softly, bringing her soaked fingers up to her lips. She held your gaze as she brought her fingers up to her mouth and deliberately licked your juices from them. Her other hand still cupped your breast, two fingers holding your clit in place while she ran them against it.
And when Aitana moaned your name out around her fingers, you let that coil within you break, a noiseless shout spilling from your lips. Your cum trickled down your core and onto the bed beneath you, coating her hand entirely. She hummed happily, tapping your swollen nub lightly. She gently nipped at your shoulder just as she removed her hands from your lower half.
“That was—”
“So damn beautiful and hot my love”
And for once, you couldn’t disagree.
A/N: Thank you do much for reading and i would love to know your thoughts on this cause i'm pretty new to writing and i want to know what people like dislike to get better. Here for sending the ideas or whatever you want

Mutual masturbation with Ony??The first one who touches the other has to do the other person’s punishment. Y/N picked to continue to bounce on it after he nut. Ony picked to fuck her in the ass.🌚🌚🌚
So sorry this is late, I hope this followed the request. I interpreted it as I pick who wins. I hope you enjoy! <3 Beautiful banners by @anitalenia her work is amazing!!!
BREAKING NO CONTACT
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
How did you even get here? You’re not drunk or high. It should be easy to remember. But every time you time to commit an ounce of brain power to doing so, the train of thought gets halted just before it leaves the station.
What’s in its way?
The pleasure signals being sent to your brain as your fingers make sloppy circles on your pulsating clit, inching you closer and closer to a release.
Tumblr media
A soft hiss slips past the tiny gaps in your clenched teeth. A deep chuckle, punctuated with the faintest groan, follows after.
“You ready to tap out?”
The baritone voice of Ony has your eyes threatening to roll back. You’re dying for him to touch you like his voice has.
Whose dumbass idea was this?
A mutual masturbation session—a competition to see who would break “no contact” first.
“Go ‘head … do it,” he dares.
For a second, your brain works just long enough to focus on him: the way his chin is almost tucked into his chest, eyes low as they’re trained on you. His lips are parted just a bit to let his rugged breath through.
And then your eyes drop to his lap, dick in hand. He’s stroking himself slow, tight fist concentrated at the tip. He’s trying to copy the way you would do it. But usually, you’d have him moaning out for mercy. Which means he’s not doing it right. Not like how you would do it.
“You … first,” you swallow, shudder before your thighs clamp around your wrist.
His pink tongue swipes at his bottom lip. On the small one-seater, his hips almost do a complete whine as he does a light thrust into his fist.
You force your legs back open. The leg you’ve got propped up on the edge of the mattress, you push it down, spreading yourself before him. His chocolate brown eyes fall from your beautiful face to your sopping cunt between your legs. How she drools over your manicured fingers.
You just got your nails done a couple of days ago; medium length, square acrylics—with charms. And although there isn’t much length to them, he knows you can’t touch yourself like how you want. How you need. No fingering, just rubbing and a couple of slaps here and there. You need more. He could give you more.
“You close, baby?”
Lips tucked into your mouth, you shake your head. Because even if the pleasure is there, you know your fingers aren’t enough to finish you off.
For a minute he watches you fumble your way through this, rubbing faster and harder. Desperate to cum. So desperate. You whine, head falling back.
His hand ceases to move, intent on watching you. Vision trained on your fingers as there’s the tiniest bit of splash-back. He licks his lips again, imagining the familiar taste that’s been on his tongue hundreds of times before. It’s engrained in his brain by now.
“Sh-shiiit … Ony.”
It’s like a plea for mercy. What were you calling out to him for? Was it just commonplace when you touch yourself, to call out to who you do it to? Were you begging for him?
“Onyyy,” you call out again, stretching out his name this time.
Your eyes, which had fallen closed, open by just a sliver to look into his.
He guesses he’s okay with losing this time.
You don’t even hear when he gets up from the one-seater. A yelp leaves you as rough hands grip the sides of your thighs to pull you all the way to the edge of the bed.
On his knees, Ony pushes his face between your legs to lap at your pussy. You don’t put up a fight, hands flying to his head to scratch at his scalp as his tongue plunges into you. His mouth is what brings you to your finish, coming all over the bottom half of his face.
“Awe … fuuuck.”
That groan—you sit up on your elbows, catching that dazed expression he makes whenever he’s coming. You see his other hand had since left your thigh, now stroking his dick as he rides out this orgasm.
“Shit,” he hisses, hand slowing down.
“You couldn’t wait?” You giggle, still breathless from your own release.
His head falls into your lap as a chuckle of his own falls from his lips. “My bad, baby.”
You hum, stroking the side of his face. “You know you lost.”
“I take my L with pride.”
Laughter spills from you. “Yeah, well now I get to pick your punishment.”
Tumblr media
You knew what you wanted going into this.
And that was Ony deep in your guts. What better way to get that than riding him?
Your ass crashing down on his dick as you go for as long as you want. You revel in his sensitivity, overstimulated from his first orgasm.
His hands don’t even grip your ass with the strength of before. They tremble as his eyes go in and out of focus, lost in your pleasure.
“Fuck, baby,” you chant in soft whispers as the clapping of skin-to-skin penetrates both you guys’ ears.
Ceaseless groans and moans pour out of him. It only spurs you on more. You’re so wet, you don’t even realize that he came again—and much sooner this time.
Not until you look down and see the white ring at the base of his dick. A mixture or your cream and his cum. As you still, the faint pulse of his dick as it spurts out the remnants of his release can be felt.
“Babe,” you laugh. “Shit, I didn’t even notice,” you pant.
Weakly, he squeezes your hip, hoping that was a justified enough answer.
Leaning forward, you cup his cheek, pressing your plump lips to his hot ear.
“You can do one more for me, right?” His eyes flutter close and he nods softly.
Your baby is at his whit’s end, but he’s just so eager to please. A Cheshire smile tugs at your mouth as you adjust yourself in his lap for another round.

CHAPTER TWO: MISTAKE OF FACT ❀ HIGURUMA SENSEI SERIES
Tumblr media
masterlist link | mdni!
Tumblr media
❀ mistake of fact.
the concept “mistake of fact” describes a situation in which someone acts unaware of circumstances that could turn their actions into criminal acts. this can affect the assessment of their intent or culpability, reducing their penalty or even excluding the criminal nature of said act.
wc: 7.2K | ❀ pairing for the series: professor!higuruma x student!reader
❀ summary.
classes, law Firm meetings, and a little grit about it all. after taking and not doing so well on your first criminal law class assessment test, you decide to get hammered at the campus party. you just didn’t expect to accidentally bump into the professor of said class there.
❀ tags and c/w.
non-curse au. college au. silly slow-burn rom-com between professor and college student (this is purely a work of fiction, okay guys?). smoking and drinking. corporate trauma. itafushi is also a slow-burn. higuruma hates doing cardio (mood). nanami needed a subplot and kusakabe had to be in it, the voices told me so. exams suck. campus parties are a special kind of hell. the return of the ugly red scarf.
❀ notes etc.
as i said previously, some characters will have their subplots, hope you enjoy reading them too (they all tie into the main plot). yes I’m working through some issues regarding the lawyering world while writing this fic, how did you notice?
also, some love for the betas: @redlikerozez and @dottedsilktie thank you two so much 💛

You had a habit, a very ugly one. Ironically, the habit you used to unwind was currently driving you insane as you tapped around your pockets, failing to find the lighter for the cigarette you held in your mouth for the past two minutes. You stroked your bangs back in annoyance and grunted, a strand of hair poking up like a spike.
“Fucking hell,” you muttered to yourself the moment the bells went off, letting you know it was time for yet another Criminal Law class. At least this time you managed to wake up somewhat early and were already by the building.
Good job, me.
“Oh, hey!” you heard the light-hearted voice chirp from a distance. Darting your eyes towards it, there came the fluffy ball of pink hair and upbeat mood frolicking in your direction.
“Hey, Itadori! Do you by any chance have a lighter?”
He shrugged, “no, I’m sorry.”
Of course he didn’t. As the best track field runner you had ever met, you wondered if Itadori even knew what a cigarette was.
“You should stop smoking,” a broodier voice said. You noticed the spiky black hair student who was also approaching.
“Ah, get off my case, Fushiguro,” you retorted, putting your cigarette away, “which class are you guys here for?”
“Criminal law! And you?” Itadori replied.
“Oh, me too. I didn’t see you guys in his class last week, though.”
“We saw you!” Yuuji answered, completely oblivious that this was definitely something which would render you uncomfortable. You blushed, and after a few seconds, Fushiguro elbowed him. “Ouch, why did you do that?”
Fushiguro sighed loudly at his friend’s cluelessness, and you sheepishly giggled.
“Yeah… I guess everybody saw me.”
The three of you were sharing an uncomfortable silence for a few moments before Itadori spoke again.
“So… Why isn’t Kugisaki enrolled?”
You shrugged, “she wanted to have other classes during this year to fast track her internship opportunities, I guess. I kind of did the same thing.”
“Is that allowed?” Yuuji inquired.
“Yeah, it is, as long as you take some other 101 classes before doing it,” you answered, while you three began walking into the building.
“I did that too, I want to pursue an internship in the public defense office as soon as possible,” Megumi interjected.
“Oh, nice! Me too,” you answered him, “but I’d totally take a position in a private law firm if given the chance.”
Fushiguro made a face you couldn’t quite identify, and didn’t answer anything in return.
The conversation about an internship in criminal defense died down as the three of you entered the elevator together, and while you were walking towards the classroom, Yuuji and Megumi began bantering.
More specifically, Itadori seemed keen on making small-talk about amenities, meanwhile Fushiguro simply did not take the hint and was shooting down every conversation topic his friend tried to bring up. You felt for Yuuji, noticing he was clearly eager to engage Megumi in a conversation, but the guy wouldn’t budge. At that point, you entertained Itadori for the remainder of the quick walk down the corridor.
Perhaps, you thought to yourself, Megumi was the clueless one.
Entering the classroom, you saw Professor Higuruma already seated by his desk fidgeting around with his glasses. This time, there was no suit jacket in sight, and he wore a white buttoned up shirt with a black tie, all under a suit vest.
You weren’t too proud to realize that you noticed the way his vest hugged his torso just right.
To top it off, after he was finished fidgeting with his glasses, Higuruma opened the cuffs of his white shirt, rolled up the sleeves up to his elbows, and slightly loosened his tie with two fingers hooked around it.
The way his arm muscles popped while he was sliding his fingers side to side around the fabric of the tie had every thought in your head poofing away instantly, and you looked away before your staring became too obvious.
The other students were coming in quickly. You made your way towards three miraculously empty seats in the front and sat on one end, while the boys took their places right beside you.
Higuruma noticed you and nodded softly as you met his eyes. You weren’t sure if he’d remember your face, but given the circumstances, it’d probably be hard not to. You greeted him back, smiling, and gestured around your regular-not-pajamas blouse, to which he replied by discreetly gesturing down his clean, not-coffee stained white buttoned up shirt.
Cute.
This time you thought that maybe sitting in the front would keep you safe from the Professor’s experiments. You had already tested your luck sitting in the back and it surely backfired — no pun intended.
After the students were settled, Higuruma got himself up and walked towards the white board, writing self-defense on it. He then turned on his heels, shoved his hands in his pockets and asked, “can anybody tell me what self-defense is?”
From your row, only Megumi raised his hand, but Higuruma’s eyes landed on Yuuji.
“You. What’s your name?” the Professor inquired, pointing at Itadori.
You heard him gulping by your side at that very same moment.
“Itadori Yuuji.”
“Then, Itadori, tell me what you think self-defense is.”
“I mean… self-defense is protecting yourself from someone trying to hurt you.”
Higuruma nodded, “you’re on the right track, but that’s not the entire answer. There is still something missing. Criminal Law occupies itself with criminal activities, so why do we need to study acts taken under self-defense? What else can you tell me about self-defense?”
Yuuji didn’t come up with something else to say, so Higuruma lifted the whiteboard marker in front of him.
“Itadori, I’ll throw this at you now.”
You and Megumi were instantly shocked, and Itadori began stuttering.
“W-wha-”
Higuruma actually threw the marker towards Yuuji’s chest, but Yuuji quickly grabbed it, glancing incredulously at the Professor.
“Now, that wasn’t self-defense in the way that it interests Criminal Law,” Higuruma noted, resuming the class as if nothing had happened.
Truth was, you could try sitting in the back, in the front, or anywhere in between,  but when it came to Higuruma Hiromi’s class, apparently, there was no safe place to hide.
“It wasn’t?!” Itadori exclaimed.
“No. Self-defense, you see, is used to exclude the illegal quality of an action that would otherwise be considered a crime, like assault and battery, for example.”
Higuruma stepped into Yuuji’s direction, and excused himself as he picked the marker back in his hand, leaving the three of you dumbfounded as to how he could nonchalantly do these absurd things and think it was just alright.
The professor began writing on the white board and the classroom was filled with scribbling and typing sounds.
“Self-defense is when someone uses force, against another person, to protect themselves from harm or imminent danger offered by this other person’s criminal actions. In that sense, you didn’t use force against me, you solely protected yourself, hence, that’s not actually self-defense as the concept that matters to us in this classroom.”
Well, the example was crystal clear, indeed. Once again, he illustrated what he wanted to say brilliantly.
But holy shit, did he really have to do those crazy things every damn time?
“Before we proceed, I have some leisure homework for you all. I’d like everybody to watch the first three episodes of this TV series for us to discuss during our next lecture the evolution from legitimate self-defense to extrapolating it and finally committing a crime.”
He wrote the name for the show on the white board.
A shy hand lifted on the other end of the class, and a girl with blue hair and crooked bangs spoke after Higuruma pointed at her.
“Professor, won’t you ask us to watch one of those old movies other teachers usually do in introductory classes?”
“Most definitely not,” he answered — not without scoffing first, “this is Criminal Law, here things are interesting. If you’d like to sleep, go to Professor Nanami’s class, Commercial Law I.”
A tiny chuckle echoed from the back.
“Someone gets it,” he concluded before proceeding with the lecture.
The class went on without a hiccup with Yuuji quickly forgetting the marker debacle a few minutes in. After Higuruma was finished talking about the day’s topic, though, he remembered everyone about next week's assessment test, receiving mumbled complaints in return.
“Yeah, I know. I hate these things too, but unfortunately we have orders from above. Be sure to study everything up until the end of the self-defense module,” Higuruma said as he sank into his desk’s chair and fished his phone out of his pocket, “I wish you all best of luck.”
As the class was done, everyone began leaving.
“So, where are you going now?” Yuuji asked as you were currently fumbling around in your bag looking for your lighter — perhaps it wasn’t in your pockets after all, right?
“I… if you two are tight on time just go without me, I’m looking for something in here and it might take some time,” you answered, thinking that some physics law might’ve been broken. Your bag seemed larger from the inside than from outside, and your lighter had surely disintegrated into thin air.
“It’s fine, we can wait,” Fushiguro answered.
Yuuji suddenly seemed to remember something and came at you sort of hyped, asking “will you be at the campus party by the end of next week?!”
“Sure, sure,” you answered absentmindedly, still fondling your things around and considering flipping it all on the ground.
“There will be a party next week on campus?” Higuruma asked with his eyes still glued to his phone’s screen.
Fushiguro elbowed Yuuji again, as it was kind of a secret from faculty members, just so none of them would butt in — there were the clueless ones, like Professor Gojo, for instance, that would always find their way into the free drinks and free food celebrations that were supposedly just for students.
“Y-Yes… it will be pretty late, though.”
Higuruma hummed, completely unfazed, “when I was a student here, we’d usually have those after 11PM to avoid faculty members, it’s a good idea. My suggestion is that you all just keep the noise down and use the space behind the brown brick building, there’s a blind spot there from the rest of the campus.”
Yuuji and Megumi shared a look before nodding hesitantly. Higuruma noticed they were both somewhat worried and sighed.
“Don’t worry, I’m not telling the other Professors, and you can all be completely sure I won’t be there.”
The bated breath the two students shared finally subsided.
“God fucking damnit where is this fucking lighter?” you mumbled to yourself.
That caught Higuruma’s attention, and he called your name.
Your hand stammered inside your bag and you looked at him.
“Do you need a lighter?” he asked you, lifting his eyes from his phone towards your direction.
You had the impression his eye bags were smaller that day.
 “Yes, I lost mine.”
He reached into one of his pockets and pulled a small, yellow, disposable lighter, stretching his arm in your direction, “you can take this one, I have tons of these.”
You got up, threw your bag over your shoulder, and went to pick it up from his hands. As your fingers wrapped around the lighter, you accidentally locked eyes with him, now sure his eye bags were definitely smaller. Higuruma spared you a small smile and you immediately felt your cheeks warm as you took the tiny yellow lighter from his fingers and stepped back.
I’m pathetic.
“So, we’re good to go?” Fushiguro asked, looking at you.
“We’re good to go,” you answered him, then looking at Higuruma, “thank you, Professor.”
“It’s no trouble, Sanrio” he answered, redirecting his attention back to his phone, completely unaware he had just called you that out loud.
After a few seconds, realizing what he'd just done, Higuruma sheepishly lifted his eyes, seeing two confused boys and you looking away with your hand over your mouth, coughing softly. You bore the same weirdly twisted face you made days before, when he asked you to leave in the mock expulsion.
Truth was you wanted to laugh, equal parts amused and mortified.
“Sanrio? What?” Yuuji asked.
“My next class is Civil Law II! What about you, Fushiguro? We should go!” you blurted out, ignoring Yuuji’s question while stepping away, “bye, Professor. See you next class!”
“You three have a good day,” Higuruma muttered, sinking further into his chair as he looked away to conceal his own embarrassment.
The boys, still at a loss, followed you outside, also bidding Higuruma a good day.
***
This is hell. I’m a smoker and this is my personal, dantesque circle of hell for that sin.
With one leg launching in front of the other at a steady pace, Higuruma was jogging down the street while accompanied solely by the rhythmic thuds of his feet on the pavement. He had already put at least a mile behind him.
His blood felt like battery acid pumping through his veins, and lungs and muscles were burning with the strain of an exercise he was doing for the third time this week thanks to the encouragement of his best friend.
This time, however, there was no distraction from the discomfort while Higuruma dragged himself completely alone on this morning run. His usual jogging partner, Nanami, told him just ten minutes before the scheduled time that he would not be able to make it.
“Did something happen?” Higuruma asked on the phone, “It’s unlike you to cancel appointments with such short notice.”
Truthfully, Nanami was someone extremely considerate of other people’s time.
“Nothing too serious. I’ll have to be in a meeting with a Labor Law associate. It involves one of the companies we represent here at the firm,” he replied with an involuntary sigh. Nanami did not enjoy being taken by surprise like this.
“A meeting for one of those Union settlements?”
 “Yes.”
“Yeesh, good luck with that. Don’t be too harsh on the workers, though.”
“I’ll just be there to oversee the meeting and report the outcome to our client, I have no say in the matter.”
“Really? Couldn’t the Labor Law associate do that, then?”
“It’s Kusakabe. He doesn’t do anything he’s not specifically paid to do.”
 “Oh, right.”
Higuruma paused for a moment. He was already at their usual meeting point, all propped up and ready to go, but didn’t quite feel like subjecting himself to that torture alone.
“You should just do your run today, I’ll join you back after tomorrow,” Nanami told him, as if reading his mind.
“I don’t know. Having company makes this slightly more bearable.”
“Is that so?” Nanami barely concealed the hint of amusement in his voice.
 “Tsk, shut up.” Higuruma retorted.
Nanami huffed, nearly a chuckle, and proceeded, “this routine seems to have affected you positively, you shouldn’t miss a day for such a pedestrian reason.”
It was true. As a consolation prize for this suffering, the Professor had managed to sleep better those past few days and his mood had improved too.
Prior to his breakdown, Higuruma had never given much thought about his overall health. After he came back to normal life — or as normal as it could be —, he tried to eat properly and exercise at the gym most days of the week.
“I guess,” Higuruma finally conceded, defeated, loathing cardio with every fiber of his being.
 “Then, off you go.”
“Okay. I’ll run and suffer alone today after being ditched,” Higuruma stated, half in jest.
“Don’t be so dramatic, Hiromi,” Nanami remarked, “you can do it just fine.”
Just fine… I’m not sure if “fine” is the word I’d choose for this self-imposed torture.
Taking one of the final turns, Higuruma passed by a storefront. On it, there was a big illustration of Hello Kitty that covered most of the space. He hadn’t noticed that store before, but seeing the cartoonish cat with its pink bow brought an amused smile to his face as he remembered the student that, for some random reason, decided to attend his class using a kitty’s pajamas — you.
That moment got him to reminisce on the occasions that he, himself, was also too tired or too out of it to properly change before going to class, leading to some similar debacles during his undergrad years.
Ever since that day, the Professor had nicknamed you Sanrio in his head, a silly inside joke with himself.
As he reached the end of the usual route, Higuruma paused and hunched over, inhaling deeply through his mouth, oxygen failing to properly enter his cells — or at least it felt like it.
I wonder if I can take a taxi to go back home...
Involuntarily hearing Nanami’s voice in his head chastising him for wanting to take the easy shortcut, Higuruma grunted and took a deep breath before jogging his way back.
***
Nanami churned on his coffee’s last sip as if that alone would be enough to realign his chakras and soothe his growing headache.
It wasn’t.
Nanami rarely saw himself pulled into other people’s work, but he detested each and every time it happened. As someone that usually planned his day thoroughly, with every minute properly accounted for, these types of unforeseen events would, most times, end up causing a domino effect over everything he had arranged in his schedule.
This time, however, he wasn’t sure if his distaste for the situation stemmed solely from the fact that his agenda got fondled around.
Something else about it was bothering him, even if he couldn’t quite put his finger on it.
The contrast on the meeting table was clear — on the company’s side, he sat with Kusakabe, at least three mid-level associates, two juniors and one random intern. Behind them, the firm’s logo hung high on the wall, casting its brushed steel sheen over the expensive mahogany table.
On the other side, though, sat an Union representative with one single lawyer beside him. Since the firm had rescheduled this meeting on short notice four times, demanding it took place in one of their offices — which was everything but close to where the union-office was located —, the Union only had enough money to pay for the expenses of sending the minimum amount of people required to legally sign a settlement.
Nanami slowly realized, as the negotiations went on, what was bothering him so much.
This wasn’t a negotiation meeting.
It was a power play consisting of intimidation techniques. Clearly an attempt at wearing the Union down and pushing them into accepting any settlement to end the strike as soon as possible.
It all said we can take you on — if you don’t accept our offer and take this to Court, we have the money, the people and the ways to win this fight.
“These are our terms, as we had already discussed, printed and ready for you to sign,” Kusakabe remarked, as he pushed a pile of papers towards the two.
The Union representative seemed ready to crumble under a put-upon expression, his black hair parted in the middle and thick framed glasses not doing nearly enough to conceal it. He knew exactly what was going on, how this had happened, and also that this strike couldn’t go on for much longer without causing serious issues in the lives of all the workers.
The company was successful in their attempt of making it look like they tried to settle the dispute, and it had been long enough that people would start falling like dominos in the firing list.
The blond woman beside him seemed ready to toss her attorney’s license in the nearest dumpster and go do something else with her life.
The Union representative took the pen in his hand and sighed.
“Are you positive you want to do this, Ijichi?” the lawyer asked, looking at him with a tinge of concern in between her brows.
“We don’t have another choice, Nitta,” he replied, signing those papers away so quickly it felt like his hands were about to get burned in the fiery pits of hell.
She exhaled sharply while leaning back on her chair.
“I’m glad we got to settle this amicably. We expect you all back on the grounds by Monday,” Kusakabe concluded as he pulled the pile of papers back to him and lifted himself up on the chair.
Everyone got up, but when Kusakabe extended his hand towards Nitta, she and Ijichi just turned around, stepping towards the exit.
Nanami’s slight discomfort had grown into an actual stone weighing in his gut, and he didn’t quite think about what he ended up doing next.
He walked behind Nitta and Ijichi, and called them by their names — something that surprised them both, given they didn’t expect him and most of the people inside that meeting room to be paying any attention at all.
“So, you did listen to that meeting and weren't there just to add numbers?” Nitta asked begrudgingly.
 “I did,” Nanami answered.
“What do you want?” Ijichi inquired, itching to get himself out of that building as quickly as possible. He felt dirty, to say the least, and needed a minimum of three full baths to feel like himself again.
“To give you both my business card.”
Both of them looked incredulous.
“I don’t mean any harm nor am I trying to get something out of a terrible situation. I just... That was...”
He really didn’t think this through.
“What I mean to say is that if there is anything you both need, this is my contact info.”
Nanami pulled the slim piece of cardstock and offered it. Ijichi and Nitta shared a hesitant look right before she took it from his hands. With a bow, both of them left, still feeling a little dumbfounded.
“Are you trying to get yourself in trouble? You’ve made it to Partner in the firm, leave it alone,” a slightly muffled voice echoed behind Nanami. It was Kusakabe, who had just shoved a lollipop in his mouth and had his hands inside his pockets.
“That didn’t bother you at all?” Nanami inquired, gesturing towards the now emptying meeting room.
“I’m not paid to get bothered. I come, I do my job, and I go home.”
 “Still,” Nanami remarked, “it was...”
“I know,” Kusakabe answered him. He took a few moments before sighing, leaning himself against a wall, and repeated in a lower tone, “I know.”
For the briefest moment, Kusakabe’s expression resembled a slight grimace.
“You don’t seem completely unbothered, even if you’re not getting paid to care,” Nanami stated.
Kusakabe looked at Nanami and said nothing as they made their way back into their respective offices.
***
Higuruma also had a bad habit.
Due to his terrible memory regarding people’s names, he gave everyone a nickname in his mind. Beyond calling you Sanrio, his nicknames for the pink haired fluffy guy and the brooding dude always by his side were, respectively, Clueless and Porcupine.
At that moment, he watched as Sanrio, Clueless and Porcupine sat beside one another while taking their first assessment test for the Criminal Law class.
You were so laser focused on the test, eyes darting from one end to the other of the paper frantically, hand periodically brushing your bangs back in desperation, that he feared you might actually end up accidentally activating a laser beam and burning the thing. Clueless was… well, clueless. He looked like someone who had never been properly alphabetized in his entire life. And finally, Porcupine didn’t seem bothered in the slightest, calmly reading and selecting each answer with the ease and certainty of someone that knew what he was doing.
He was sort of amused to realize Sanrio’s bangs had a small lock of hair poking out.
Higuruma glanced his eyes over the class, and made the sad realization he’d have dozens upon dozens of tests to grade and submit to the Dean the following morning.
What a nightmare, I’ll be here forever grading these after hours.
He had completely forgotten, earlier that day, that he’d have to deal with assessment test shenanigans. The information popped back into his mind five minutes before he arrived at the Uni, and Higuruma got a little desperate, remembering he needed to pick up the pile of tests inside the brown brick building’s print center before darting his way to class.
At least, he was more accustomed to running by then.
After parking near the building, Higuruma ran against the clock, and made it by the skin of his teeth. The Professor was completely relieved, failing to realize that his memory had fucked him over more than once that day.
You, on the other hand, weren’t fending off much better.
What do I do, there is more than one answer to this, it fucking depends, goddammit, you cursed inside your mind while answering most of the questions in that assessment test.
I need a cigarette.
You were particularly bad at taking multiple choice tests, especially in subjective areas — which was definitely the case for Criminal Law.
You had this little curse of wanting to select two different answers in nearly every question and always choosing the wrong one.
At least I can drink this failure away at the party today.
“Ten more minutes!” Higuruma’s voice echoed through the classroom, and you must’ve looked particularly more hectic than before, because you felt his eyes on you, and when looking up, noticed he seemed a little concerned.
Very charmingly concerned in that disheveled suit and slightly messy hair.
Ah, shut up, brain.
After the ten minutes flew by, a cacophony of pens being put down or clicked around could be heard. People got up, and one by one, the students put their tests over Higuruma’s desk. He dangled over his chair lazily, bidding his students a good morning with a mumble.
You were the last one left, and stared at your test like it was a nuke falling right into your future criminal defense attorney career. Sad wasn’t the best word for it — you felt disheartened.
Sighing defeatedly, you lifted yourself from your chair like your clothing was made of lead and walked towards Higuruma’s desk, handing him the paper. His eyes lifted towards you while he took the test from your hands.
“What did you think of the test?” Higuruma inquired, organizing all the papers into a neat pile.
You huffed.
“Sanrio is worried about this test,” you replied, smiling while poking a little fun at him.
His eyes widened a little, and for a second, Higuruma looked embarrassed.
“About that, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to...” he began.
“Oh! It’s...”
Completely okay. Kinda sweet. Something I might’ve actually liked.
“Fine. I didn’t mind. It’s not always, but sometimes I nickname people in my head too.”
He offered you a discreet awkward nod, “okay, then.”
Noticing you might’ve made him unnecessarily uncomfortable, you decided to lighten up the air.
“So... No random experiment for torturing your minions today? I mean, the students.”
Higuruma chuckled softly.
“Ah, no. I figured this test was enough torture for one day,” he answered, spirited, “I’m not that ruthless.”
Remembering the Yuuji marker debacle, you thought about something for a moment before you resumed speaking.
“You know,” you began, “perhaps you should ask for students to volunteer before doing your… things.”
“I used to, actually,” he promptly answered.
“You did?” your voice sounded surprised.
Higuruma nodded, “Yes, but students rarely volunteered.”
That sounded a little off.
“Quick question, Professor. Did this scarcity of volunteers happen before or after the first volunteer demonstration?” you inquired.
“After. Why do you ask?” He asked while putting the tests into his briefcase.
Oh my God, he’s so clueless.
“No reason. Just curious.”
***
“Hey, people! I brought us beers!” Yuuji exclaimed, light spirited, as he walked towards you, Megumi, Nobara and Maki all seated on the grass behind the brick building. He quickly descended to sit beside the group.
“You are the best, but I’m not mixing today,” you thanked, greeting him with a cup full of pure vodka, “this should do the trick for tonight. Also, it’s pretty fucking cold for beer.”
“Is that why you’re wearing that thing?” Nobara inquired while pointing at your ugly red scarf around your neck.
“Get off my case, Nobara,” you retorted, gulping on your drink with some unidentifiable desperation.
“Shit, was the test that bad?” Maki asked you as she took a single can from Yuuji’s arms, while mindlessly pulling Nobara closer and kissing her head.
“It was weird, I was so confused, it felt like every question had at least two answers,” you complained, stretching your body over the grass.
“You probably did fine, you tend to be overly dramatic about these things,” Nobara stated while pulling another can from Yuuji, smacking on his shoulder with a fist. He whined in complaint, and she chuckled like a tiny ginger demon.
“I agree with Kugisaki, you’re smart!” Yuuji chirped in, while scrambling his way to sit beside Megumi, “I had no idea what I was doing. If you thought about at least two answers to each question, you’re already better than me.”
This poor, poor kid, you thought.
“There’s more to exams than just being smart, you need to know how to do them, and I do not, unfortunately…” you answered, a tinge of disappointment to your expression.
“This is solely an assessment test, anyway. It doesn’t compute in our final grades, there is no need to be so upset about it,” Megumi interjected, shushing himself when you glared at him.
He was terrible at comforting people.
“So, Fushiguro, I didn’t quite know what you’d like to drink, so I brought three types of beer,” Itadori mumbled, extending three different cans of beer towards Megumi like a raven with trinket offerings for his favorite human.
Not exactly smooth, but definitely cute.
Nobara and Maki shared a look, both of them with cheeky smiles on their faces. You covered your mouth to conceal your own smile — you were far from being as saucy as the power couple by your side — and waited with a bated breath for Megumi to pick up on the hint from Yuuji.
It was about time, considering it had been months of Yuuji trying to make a move.
“No, thank you, I won’t drink today,” Fushiguro cluelessly replied, and Itadori visibly deflated from that.
“T-then… I can grab a soda for you, or…” Itadori clumsily interjected, while scratching the back of his neck.
“There’s no need, I will go-”
Perhaps it was the vodka, the dreadful day or how much Megumi had just cock-blocked your shipping dreams, but you blurted out your next few words.
“For fucks sake, Fushiguro, if you don’t take a beer can from Itadori right now, I will body slam you into oblivion.”
“… We’re on the ground. How would that even-”
“Bitch, don’t test me.”
Fushiguro was somewhat taken aback by your interjection, but hesitantly extended his hand and picked one of the three beers Itadori had selected for him, prying it open with a wheezing click. Megumi looked at you, then the beer can, then at Itadori, suspiciously taking a tiny sip.
“It is… good,” he muttered, as a smile slowly returned to Yuuji’s Kirby persona.
“Now, thank him,” you complemented, pointing at Yuuji, “he did find three types of beer in this God-forsaken campus party only for you, after all. I’d never have bothered to do so, and I bet Maki and Nobara feel the same.”
The power couple raised their drinks in agreement towards you, and Fushiguro sighed.
“Thank you, Itadori.”
Yuuji happily nodded, “you’re welcome! Do you want something to eat? I could-”
“Baby steps, buddy… baby steps,” you interrupted, putting your hand over Yuuji’s shoulder. He nodded sheepishly while Megumi was at a loss.
“O-okay,” Itadori acquiesced.
Suddenly, you all heard a voice calling Megumi’s name from a distance, sounding like some kind of haunting, and began looking around as he buried his face in his hands.
“Who is that?” you asked.
“Megumi! Where’s the food!?” the voice inquired in a light hearted tone. In the distance, you saw a fluffy, white ball of hair approaching under sunglasses. At night.
Megumi groaned from the depths of his soul.
“Argh, for fucks sake,” he complained, well aware as to who was coming.
Trying to dodge the faculty members didn’t do much to keep his adoptive father away, apparently.
Not so far from there, Higuruma sat in a poorly lit office grading the tests the entire class had taken that morning. After finishing grading yours — and you didn’t do very well, just as you had anticipated — he muttered to himself, out loud, “what happened there, Sanrio?”
The Professor failed to notice he did remember your name perfectly, even if he kept calling you Sanrio.
“Will you sleep in here today?” a familiar voice scowled from the door, and Higuruma turned his face to meet the dusty blonde head of hair peeping through.
“I’ll just finish grading these and then I’ll go home, Kento,” Higuruma answered with a tired smile on his face.
“And couldn’t you have done that from home?” his friend asked, looking at the menacing pile of paper over the man’s desk, “or maybe tomorrow morning.”
“Oh, I’d never get to it if I had left it for later. I’m already here, might as well just ditch this Pavlovian nightmare as soon as possible,” the other stated, flailing a test on his hand before proceeding, “what are these even meant to assess? Someone’s capabilities of answering formulaic questions like trained dogs? Ugh.”
Higuruma was ranting.
Nanami huffed a slightly amused chuckle, but underneath it, he seemed a little beaten down.
“Is everything okay, Kento?” Higuruma asked, interrupting his ranting when noticing his deflated friend.
“I’m… fine.”
Nanami had forgotten for a second that Higuruma, underneath all his antics, was a very perceptive person.
“Are you sure?” Higuruma insisted, “you don’t look so well.”
“It’s nothing. I’m just thinking about work, that’s all.”
And that he was. That meeting had stuck with him for those past few days.
“Oh, how was the meeting with the Union?”
Nanami’s breath got caught for a second before he mustered up something to answer.
“It wasn’t what I expected it to be. I might be switching things up soon,” Nanami said with some understated grave finality.
“Truly?” Higuruma sounded surprised.
“Yes. Perhaps exploring new fronts beyond Corporate Law.”
“Well, then, let me know if there’s anything I can do to help apart from practicing law.”
Higuruma’s voice cracked softly right at the end of his sentence. Nanami didn’t fail to notice it, and kept silent as his friend seemed to mull over bitter memories.
“Hiromi,” Nanami began.
“I can’t, I… can’t.”
Higuruma had visibly tensed up, his fists unconsciously clenching as his forearms laid flat on the desk.
“It wasn’t your fault,” Nanami concluded, careful not to dig too deep on the matter.
Both of them shared an uncomfortable silence before Higuruma hesitantly steered his gaze to meet Nanami’s. Unsure, Higuruma gave his friend a tiny nod, and moved his attention back to the task in front of him.
Understanding that the talk about it was over, at least for now, Nanami asked, “I’m leaving, do you want me to help you carry those to your car?”
“Oh, there’s no need. I parked far, behind the…”
Oh, shit.
“Nanami, what day is it today?”
***
“I’m not drunk,” you mumbled, while filling your third cup of vodka.
“I’m not so sure about that,” Nobara said, giving you a light push to your shoulder, having you nearly tip over. Meanwhile, Megumi, Yuuji and Maki were entertained with Yuuji trying to score Gojo’s open mouth with peanuts like it was a basketball hoop.
Megumi was the least entertained of the trio.
“Knock it off!” you complained, slapping her hand away.
You fished your pack of cigarettes from your pocket, and she instantly grunted.
“Those things stink and itch my nose, go smoke them somewhere else.”
It was your time to grunt.
“Ugh, fine. Then I’ll find a new best friend that’ll let me smoke — hell, one that might even smoke with me!” you  replied, getting ready to leave.
“Make good choices!” she poked at you, and you playfully brushed her off.
“I won’t!”
You walked away — not before hearing Yuuji and Gojo cheering right after Yuuji managed to score ten peanuts in a row — and gave your cup of vodka another sip, having the burning tingle dripping down your throat, warming you up against the cold wind.
After about two minutes or so of walking, sure your smoke wouldn’t blow on anyone’s faces, you put a cigarette into your mouth and pulled the lighter Professor Higuruma had given you, trying to light the cig up.
However, the wind wouldn’t let you, no matter how much you tried to tent your hand around it.
God, why? you thought to yourself, fidgeting with your bangs in annoyance.
While darting your eyes around, looking for any sort of shelter from the wind, you found a beat up, dark navy-blue car that surely had seen better days parked just behind the brick building. In your drunken haze, you figured that squatting between both would be the best idea.
Stumbling your way towards the gap, you quickly went down on the ground in a crouched position, holding your cup in one hand and the lighter on the other, cig strongly held in between your lips.
Flick, flick, flick.
Nothing.
God fucking damnit.
“Hey!” a male voice exclaimed from behind you, scaring the shit out of your soul.
Your body moved on instinct. You instantly jumped up, startled and screaming, and tossed the entire vodka contents from the cup towards whoever had nearly given you a heart attack.
Higuruma stood there, completely stunned and incredulous, as the beverage hit his shirt, vest, tie, face and coat.
“… I didn’t mean to scare you,” he offered, taking his glasses off to shake the liquid from them before putting them back, “but why?”
For a split second, he was just glad this wasn’t coffee or wine, the staining demons of liquids. It could’ve been worse.
Oh my God. I can’t believe I assaulted this man with my drink again. This has to be a prank.
This time, already impaired from two full glasses of vodka in your system, and increasingly nervous at that situation, you couldn’t hold it in.
You began cackling, directly to his face, as his expression became profoundly confused. He lifted an eyebrow, not knowing if he should feel scared, amused or offended.
"I-I just… Just laugh in i-inappropriate… moments- I’m sorry!" you tried explaining, in between laughs and huffs, drying a tear that bubbled up at the edge of your eye with the tip of your fingers.
You both stood there for a few seconds until your laughter died down, and he was then sure you definitely had a few screws loose.
It amused him.
“Here, let me use this to dry your shirt," you told Higuruma, approaching him with your red scarf, pressing it against his chest. He put his free hand over it and haphazardly rubbed it over the damp patches of his clothes alongside you.
This up close, he couldn’t help but notice once again that tiny hair lock which swirled away from your bangs.
Realizing he was staring at your hair, Higuruma diverted his eyes elsewhere, having them landing over the ugly red scarf.
"Ah, that hideous thing."
Shit, I said that out loud, he thought to himself, facepalming internally.
To that, you looked at him, wide eyed, and laughed wholeheartedly, having Higuruma blushing embarrassment at his own incapacity to control his words.
"It is hideous, isn't it?" you noted, surprising him.
For the second time in that interaction, he was nothing short of perplexed. The Professor was more than accustomed to having people get deeply offended at his talking mishaps from time to time.
"I thought you might be laughing because what I said was terribly inappropriate," Higuruma admitted, somewhat relieved.
"Oh, no. It was funny. I also laugh at funny things," you jested with a mindless smile pulling on your cheeks.
It was his time to chuckle, and you didn’t fail to notice, even in your tipsy fog, how a tiny crease would form on the edges of his hangdog eyes when he was laughing. And how his voice reverberated. And how his disheveled hair framed around his face beautifully, highlighting his beautiful hooked nose. And-
Shit. I have the hots for the Professor.
"... Is there still anything on my face?"
That snapped you out of it, but not entirely.
"Uh? Why?"
"Because you're staring at it."
Yeah. That checks out.
“I just… never mind,” you told him while blushing discreetly, scrambling around to give him some space. It was only then that Higuruma noticed he had his hand resting over yours for a while after you stopped trying to pat him dry with the ugliest scarf known to mankind.
Clearing his throat, he asked, “why were you slouching by my car?”
“I was trying to light a cigarette,” you replied, pointing at the cig on the ground after the debacle, “the wind is pretty unforgiving today.”
“I see. I’m sorry about the fallen soldier,” he stated.
“No worries, I’ve got more,” you replied, pulling your pack from your pocket, “do you want one?”
I shouldn’t, smoking is bad, I’m doing cardio three times a we-
“Yes.”
You pulled two cigarettes from the pack, put them both in your mouth, cupped your hand around the cigs to light them up, and it actually worked.
Well, that’s convenient.
You inhaled the smoke for a second, feeling it waving into your mouth. It immediately soothed your crave.
Taking one of them in between two fingers, you extended your hand towards Higuruma, who grabbed the smoke.
“Thanks,” he offered in a calm tone.
“No worries, it’s the least I could do after assaulting you with vodka,” you shrugged with some embarrassment.
“It’s oka… pure vodka?”
“Yes.”
That’s… a lot.
He was a little taken aback, but decided not to ask anything.
“Well, at least it won’t leave a stain, unlike coffee,” Higuruma remarked.
“Yeah, it won’t,” you replied while mindlessly giggling.
Higuruma finally bowed his head towards you and you retributed the gesture, bidding him goodbye before leaving on your way to your dorm room.
Once you were gone, he went inside his car, cracking the window open. As he was finally alone pulling the cigarette towards his lips, Higuruma noticed something around the edge of the cig. A soft pinkish-red ring that went all around it.
Is this… her lipstick?
It was.
Against his better judgment, Higuruma blushed softly, instantly shaking his head to weave off the heat that had pooled around in his cheeks before flipping the engine on.
Get a hold of yourself.
He did, however, hold the cig in mouth, smudging the faint lipstick tint it had on his lips until the smoke was all spent up.

random msi ep 7 thoughts - joe's guilt and obligations to the old owner of his new body/life
so i did my reread of the chapters last weekend in preparation for this week's episode and one part stood out to me that i missed in last few rereads was this precious bit where joe expresses his guilt about about using his new body for sex
“Mom, it’s true. I also think that I came across such a good thing. He said that I can repay him slowly, but he’ll lend me the money first for our pressing needs. This money is really nothing to him. The money we owed, we can repay a part of it first. I’ll work hard. It’ll definitely get better in the future. So Mom, you must not have any burden. You must comply with the treatments. It’s only if you live that we can have hope, okay?” [Ing]’s voice trembled, “There is really such good people? How can there be such good people?” [Joe] smiled and confirmed the matter over and over again; only for [Ing] to feel as ease. If she knew that he agreed to such a deal… he wouldn’t dare to think about the consequences. If it was his former body, he may not feel as terrible. He is not a woman, not to mention that he had slept with [Ming] before. However, this body was not his. Although they have converged for so long, [Joe] still could not fully accept this body. Using [Ing]’s son’s body to do this made his heart filled with a sense of guilt. Moreover, when he thought of [Ming] using this body as a (substitute)……he could not describe his feelings. Embarrassed, awkward, and resentful. [Joe]’s heart is full of negative emotions. - Chapter 60, Professional Body Double by Shui Qian Cheng
And obviously since these are more of Joe's inner thoughts, I thought we weren't gonna get them. But then MSI team really took me by surprise by incorporating that bit seamlessly into this scene.

it's a tiny detail. but one i appreciate very much to the team for having joe (the soul) remains considerate to the old owner of his body, someone he owes his new life to.
and it's actually not the only bit in the novel where he is constantly reminded by the old owner of his new body. like for example, when he first learned of ing's illness, he also considered donating one of his kidneys.
[Joe] made an arrangement with the doctor to have his kidney tested for compatibility the next time he come. This he did secretly behind [Ing]’s back. Even if his kidney is a match, the first issue is that he has no money for the surgery and second is that he’s afraid [Ing] would rather die than to agree to accept his kidney. But no matter what, he has to give it a try. At least there’s more hope to save her. Although [Joe] felt a little fearful on the possibility of having a kidney removed, he had no reason to back down. This body was not his to start with, but belonged to this youngster named [Joe]. He was just a dying person fortunate enough to have his soul hosted in this body to continue on living his life. This youngster is [Ing]’s son. On this body that hosted his soul, every strand of hair, skin and even this life came from [Ing]. He is the closest relative to [Ing]. He cannot evade nor can he be selfish. - Chapter 57, Professional Body Double by Shui Qian Cheng
Tumblr media
and i also really like that even in as early as the beginning of the novel, since joe's woken up from his coma he's already committed to being ing's son because he's indebted to the old owner of his new body for giving him a 'renewed treasured life'.
[Joe] glanced at her. Although this woman is not his mother, he thinks that he has the responsibility to take care of her for the rest of her life because he took over her son’s body, making her lose her son forever. He, on the other hand, got a renewed treasured life. He can’t just accept that. He should also take up the responsibility that this life should have taken and complete his obligations. - Chapter 3, Professional Body Double by Shui Qian Cheng
Tumblr media
anyhow this was not really a thoughts post, more like an excuse to gush about how much i love this novel and how well the series has been able to capture nuances that i thought would be left out due to tv constraints.

Rosewood
[Dungeon Meshi / Delicious in Dungeon, Farcille, Fluff, Domestic Fluff, Proposal Fic, Woodworking / Furniture Making, Fluff and Humor, Touden Siblingisms] AO3 Link
Summary: Falin gets into woodworking, is kind of a (loveable) idiot, and Marcille loves every second of it
I.
“I believe us tall-men call it a quarter-life crisis.”
“How is it a crisis?” Marcille glared at Kabru. “Now that the kingdom’s relatively stable, she’s probably just looking for something new to do with her free time.”
Marcille ran into him at the tradesman’s courtyard—a rectangular wing of the castle with an open garden in the center. This wing housed wide rooms with high ceilings and windows facing the garden to flood them with natural light. Some were used for textiles and tailoring, others for working metal. Another section—Marcille’s intended destination—was for putting together and repairing furniture. She had stopped herself at the room’s threshold at the sight of ash-blonde hair, leaning against the doorway to allow herself a minute to just… look.
And that’s when Kabru found her—such terrible timing. She was trying to enjoy herself!
“That’s what a quarter-life crisis is,” he insisted.
Marcille scoffed. “Why can’t we just call it a hobby?”
“I mean we can.” Kabru hummed thoughtfully. “Those aren’t mutually exclusive.”
Falin’s interest in woodworking hadn’t come up out of the blue. Marcille remembers her having a small collection of books on it—as early as their school days. She’d read about Izgandan tools and scribble notes on the margins of her book on Eastern joinery. Marcille fondly remembers how she’d complain about neck pains—too much reading did her no favors—how she’d sigh to Falin about wanting a bookstand.
Oh, Falin had said back then. I’ll just make you one.
And she did—even if it took her a few years to get around to it.
It sat at the center of Marcille’s desk—Falin’s first ever project, imperfect and a little funny-looking but Marcille would never have it any other way. In a few short months, Falin had graduated from making cutting boards to specialized barstools for Chilchuck. Her most recent completion was a knife block for Senshi.
Today, she was starting on something new.
The most beautiful slab of rosewood was laid out on Falin’s work bench, and it seemed like she was working on flattening it. Falin worked with a large hand-planer, running it across the wood at an angle from its grain. Back and forth she went, spilling sawdust and shavings across the floor. Marcille couldn’t help but watch—she watched the way Falin’s arms moved with each pass, her brows knit together in a look of concentration. She watched the way Falin paused to fold up the sleeves of her loose, cotton shirt—further up to her elbows until Marcille could see tufts of soft, beautiful feathers. Marcille kept watching. Even as Falin wiped the sweat off her brow, running a towel across the side of her neck while she steadied her breathing. Still, Marcille kept watching—until finally, Falin gripped the handles of the planer again—her hands strong and steady, placing the tool back into position on the rosewood—
Kabru cleared his throat and Marcille quickly wondered if she could get away with murder.
“Wha—!” Marcille felt her blood pressure pitch into the high heavens. She burned, red, sputtering. “What are you even still doing here! I thought you were working?!”
“I am. It’s my job to remind the Royal Court Mage,” Kabru smiled diplomatically. “To stop ogling Lady Falin so openly in public.”
Kabru ducked—expertly dodging Ambrosia’s arc towards the back of his head.
--
II.
“What kind of wood is it?”
Marcille ran her hand along the scabbard Falin had crafted for Laios. She didn’t cover it with leather or paint, instead opting to stain it with a mild oil. Marcille had never seen wood with such odd grain patterns and color before. They curved almost anatomically, swirling into knots and unraveling like blood vessels.
“Uhm—It’s—” Falin looked to the corner of the room, nervously scratching at her check.
Marcille raised an eyebrow—then Laios excitedly barreled into the room.
“Falin!” He ran towards them, towering over his sister’s back and ruffling her hair.
“Get off!” Falin pouted, swatting him away. “Don’t ruffle my hair!”
“Did you finish it?” Laios blinked. Then he gasped, grabbing the scabbard excitedly from Marcille’s hands. “You did! My barometz scabbard!”
Marcille shrieked. “Barometz?!”
“Look, Marcille!” Laios held the scabbard right at her face—Marcille recoiled, pressing backwards against Falin who held wrapped her arms around her waist. “Do you see how the pattern branches out? It looks like wood grain but it’s actually a network of capillaries designed to provide nourishment to the creatures a baromtez grows—”
“Like a placenta!” Falin added softly.
“Exactly!” Laios laughed. “I have a sheath made out of—"
Marcille, exasperated, shoved her hands onto the two siblings’ faces to push them apart. “Barometz!?”
Falin flashed her sheepish grin.
“I just—you two!”
--
III.
Marcille was surprised to find Falin at Laios’ office—she had made a mess of the guest table at the center of the room, littering it with ribbons and decorative parchment. There were leathers laid out by the couch nearby, and Falin scrambled about, inspecting each one before coming back to a small box placed at the center of the table.
It was a beautiful jewelry box—another one of Falin’s projects. It had a body made from walnut and a checkered line that ran along its lid, made of cherry and pine. The colors reminded Marcille of the trees around her home. The lock was capped with a crest—one that surprised Marcille. Falin never cared for the posturing and ceremony that she and her brother now had to suffer, so why was her royal crest set in gold on this box?
“Oh—hi, Marcille.”
“Hey,” Marcille smiled, tugging on the front of Falin’s shirt to pull her closer. She got up on her tip toes, wrapping her arms around Falin’s shoulders to steal a small kiss.
“You found me,” Falin mumbled into their kiss, holding her by the waist.
“Mhm,” Marcille finally pulled back. “What are you doing here?”
“Sending a package. It’s going all the way up North so I needed good wrapping.”
“Is it this a jewelry box you made?”
“Mhmm.”
“It looks beautiful,” Marcille walked towards the table to inspect it. “Though I’m surprised that you used such an official symbol. That’s unlike you.”
“W—Well I heard jewelry boxes were a good gift for mothers.” Falin scratched at the back of her head. “And I wanted this one to be kinda… official looking?”
“Oh!” Marcille blinked. “Well, I’m sure your mother would love it!”
“Ah, no.” Falin’s natural flush deepened. “Not for my mom—”
“Hm?”
“It’s… for yours.”
Oh.
Marcille—stunned at first—smiled. Then she laughed, pulling Falin into a hug—her wonderful, loving, thoughtful Falin.
--
IV.
“Don’t you want to go tell her yourself?” Laios asked over dinner.
“I can’t.” Falin squirmed. “I’m too nervous.”
“She can’t be that strict!”
“Do you remember how Marcille was when we first met her in the tavern?”
Laios paled. “Yes. Is she even stricter?”
“I think so, yeah.”
“Understandable.
--
V.
“It’s so pretty!” Marcille swooned, hands clasped as she admired Falin’s hard work.
The rosewood desk that Falin had been working on was finally finished after weeks of work. It was polished impeccably, sealed with the finest wax to finish. It had all the drawers Marcille needed – shallow ones for her inks and pens, deeper ones for parchment and scrolls, and even a little platform towards the back where she could set her feet—Falin knew that sometimes the chair was too high for Marcille to be able to reach the ground.
“Oh, it’s perfect!” Marcille hugged Falin, who looked delightfully smug.
“No fair!” Laios pointed at his sister. “Falin—I want one too!”
“I already gave you a scabbard,” she shook her head.
“My desk is so big and boring though,” he slumped.
“It’s also a thousand-year hold antique,” Kabru supplied dryly. “It would do well for appearances to keep it.”
The new desk was heavy. Really, really heavy. It had taken nearly all of them to carry it up to Marcille’s office with how heavy and set it was. This was apparently by design, according to Falin, who can be so much like her brother and not know when to not say things, because—
“I made sure to use joinery instead of nails and angle irons,” Falin gave herself a self-satisfied nod. “I know that it bothers you how it creaks when w—”
Marcille turned so red they thought she might faint, hooking Ambrosia around Falin’s head and yanking her backwards hard enough to knock the air out of her lungs.
--
VI.
By the time winter started that year, all the furniture in Marcille’s room and office had been replaced by Falin’s handiwork: new shelves for her books and trinkets, an extension for her windowsill where she could keep plants and little felt toys.
Today, Marcille came into her office to a brand-new chair. It perfectly matched her desk, coming up a little higher than her old one to make writing and reading more comfortable.
“I asked the tailors for help with the upholstery,” Falin said, still in her apron and smelling of sawdust. “I’ve never been very good with sewing and leatherwork.”
“It’s amazing,” Marcille whispered as she traced along Falin’s simple engravings—she had started experimenting more artistically with her work. Beautiful, Marcille thought to herself. How wonderful it was to see Falin’s efforts engraved into something tangible—something permanent. “Thank you.”
Falin simply smiled back.
“You’ve gotten so good at this!”
“You think?”
“Yeah!” Marcille stood up to clasp their hands. “The gift you sent mom left such an impression on her that she’s planning to visit.”
Falin gasped. And then grinned, “I’m so glad!”
“Me too,” Marcille leaned forward, smiling against Falin’s shoulder and the feathers of her neck. “I’m happy you found a hobby you like so much. Between dungeons and politics, it seems like such a good break for you.”
“Mm, yeah.” Falin gently ran her fingers along Marcille’s hair. “I’ve always wanted to be able to build furniture for my wife one day.”
Marcille froze.
What?
She pushed herself backwards, looking up in surprise at Falin while still staying in their embrace. “Wife—? Wh—”
Falin was blinking, almost in a panic. Then she grew redder, and redder, and redder—like a kettle about to whistle. “I, uh—!” She stammered. She had that look on her face, the adorable expression of confusion as if she had just forgotten something very important. It reminded Marcille of their younger days. “You see—”
Marcille’s thoughts were running a hundred paces at a time—her mother visiting? Falin—wife?
“Marcille,” Falin looked at her resolutely. Lovingly. “Will you marry me?”
--
VII.
“You forgot to propose?” Chilchuck had his face in his hands.
“Well, technically I was still able to…” Falin said meekly.
“After all the time I put into helping you plan it!”
--
VIII.
By the next summer, Marcille found herself at the tradesman’s courtyard again. She had a tray of refreshments in her hands—one for herself and another for Falin. The condensation on the glass formed droplets of dew that ran along its side, mirroring the droplets on Falin’s brow. Her hair was tied up in a ponytail—messy with stray locks escaping this way and that. Her shirt was loose and bunched around her forearms and she was wearing a brand-new work apron that Senshi had made for her—with hooks and pockets and all.
Marcille, like so many times before, leaned against the woodshop’s doorframe to watch and wonder.
“Marcille,” Kabru cleared his throat, standing next to her with an arm full of scrolls.
“Kabru.”
He nudged her shoulder. “May I remind the Royal Court Mage—”
“I can ogle my wife whenever I want!”
“I don’t wanna hear it!” Marcille scoffed, petulant yet still smiling.
She watched as Falin gripped the handles of her planer, firm and strong, her left hand glittering with new jewelry.

NO OK BUT I'M STILL NOT OVER BOOTHILL AND DAN HENG AND THE JADE ABACUS IN ENA'S DREAM!!!!!
For some extra context, I have a whole henghill manifesto I wrote over here, but the tl;dr is that Dan Heng decides to use the Jade Abacus of Allying Oath to save the Express Crew the first time. Boothill urges him to think it over carefully, but he doesn't stop him. And then, the second time Dan Heng decides to use it, we get this instead:
Tumblr media
And just! That's so!! so!!!
Because like. We see in the first battle against Sunday that that Jade Abacus is effective, like we really do just get an entire army lead by a whole-ass Emanator of The Hunt right to our location and ready to fuck shit up. It's important. It's incredibly valuable. That is a huge amount of power to hold in the palm of one's hand.
But Tiernan's relic works the same way.
Galaxy Rangers are terribly dangerous. Boothill comments on this when discussing Acheron's motives, because he can't believe anyone would be stupid enough to get The Hunt on their asses. They're considered to be on a level even above The Annihilation Gang.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now, with the burial relic, he has a way to get thousands of them, almost immediately, and all in one place.
Tumblr media
And you can't tell me that wouldn't be something extremely useful to Boothill, like literally life-saving. He's wanted by the IPC. He makes his living as a bounty hunter. His whole driving motivation in life right now is to do whatever he can, up to and including throwing away his own human body, to ruthlessly hunt down one man and kill him in revenge. Like that has to be dangerous, the IPC is a massive entity with far-reaching influence and money and power and weaponry. He surely must have already had some close calls.
Like can you imagine it? Galaxy Rangers are solitary creatures. If Boothill were to find himself near death, he would probably be all alone. Do you think he had regrets? Did he wonder if anyone would find his own burial relic? Did it feel the same way it did when they melted his flesh, replaced it with metal? Did he lay there with his vision slowly blacking out until he thought of home, and family, and the little daughter who he never even got to hear her first word, until he was so full of fury that he could prop himself up on his rage like a crutch and find help?
Tiernan's relic would have been like a get-out-of-jail-free card. Just for one time, no matter where Boothill was, someone would find him. The Galaxy Rangers aren't sociable or organized between themselves, but they help their own. Someone would save him.
He chooses to give all of that up to help Dan Heng.
And I just cannot get over it, especially the wording of it, the pause before he speaks, the gentle way he tells him to hold onto his once-in-a-lifetime treasure...!! He wants Dan Heng to leave this to him! He wants him to keep this precious item that will help him save his companions again in the future! And maybe it's just...wishful thinking, me reading too much into it? But I mean. Just the way he says it...
I really do think it comes from a place of deep kinship and respect. That there's a lot of thought and feeling behind that statement. Something from one Pathstrider of The Hunt to another. Boothill fought for his home and his family, he fought really really hard! But. Sometimes that just doesn't matter. And now he's watching Dan Heng fight for his, too.
When he made that decision the first time, Dan Heng was in the parlor car of the Astral Express. He was completely removed from any danger. He could have chosen to get the hell out of Dodge and not look back. Obviously we know he would never even consider such a thing, but it was technically an option, and Boothill watched him decide to go back into the proverbial lion's den for his friends anyway. And I'm sure that was part of what sealed his decision, to later use Tiernan's relic instead of the Jade Abacus to summon enough people to disrupt Ena's Dream. Because he greatly values ideas like righteousness and justice and saving people, and Dan Heng so beautifully embodies all of that and then some.
Boothill doesn't have people to protect anymore, only ghosts to avenge.
And there is just something so endlessly endearing about him wanting to help Dan Heng, to make sure his friend doesn't go through that the way he did.

Recently, through Twitter, I have become aware of the fact that modern American parents have been very ignorant of their parental duties when it comes to their children. Parents are banding together to complain about the schools their children attend because their kids are getting bad grades in class, or they're getting detentions for doing bad consistently, or they're being held back because they're just not at the same level as their peers.
There was an entire thread of some woman whining about how the school was failing her kid, because his English class grade was so bad. There were thousands of comments agreeing and various reposts with anecdotes from other parents with similar experiences.
"My 26 y/o son can't even write a check for God's sake!"
And one single person finally replied with, "Do you guys not teach your kids anything at home before they start going to school?" Which then spawned people with actual common sense questioning the level of involvement these people had in the lives of their kids.
This is what led to a large surge of people complaining about how it's the school's job to teach them everything and they did their job just keeping them alive.
Now, I don't want to be mean, but it's gonna come across that way.
Parents are lazy these days.
When I was a child, my Nana and mom had me learning with Hooked on Phonics before I entered pre-K. I was 3 years old and already sounding out words that rhymed. I was practicing how quickly I could say them in under 30 seconds so I could progress to the next lesson.
mat hat sat that cat vat pat bat fat lat rat brat
etc...
When I was in pre-K(4 years old), they had a single, really old computer that had a bunch of Winnie the Pooh CD-ROM games. Because I always got my work done faster than everybody else, they let me use the computer because I could actually read and follow Pooh's instructions, and it kept me busy.
And when I entered kindergarten for the first time, I was really surprised to see that Hooked on Phonics was actually part of my curriculum and I was already very well ahead of everyone else. My mom and Nana took traching me very seriously. They not only read to me, but they would also get me Madeline books and cassette tapes from the children's library downtown. And then I would listen to the cassettes telling the story while reading the book at the same time to get used to the words.
At three years old, I was helping out in the kitchen, learning all of the different kitchen utensils and types of measurement. My mom often went between English, French and American Sign Language at random times so I picked up a lot of stuff that way. We never had a computer in the house for the first 12 years of my life, but I did have an old keyboard to learn how to type. Nana gave me basic piano lessons for a couple years. Mom taught me how to hem my clothes because she would buy me bigger clothes, hem them to size, and then let them out as I grew. Hell, Sperm Donor taught me how to write a check when I was 8. He was also a Financial Adviser, so I got a lot of lessons on money management, investments, and 401Ks and shit.
All these incredibly simple things ended up benefiting me later on, because I was so far ahead of all of the other students that it consistently put me at odds with them. I was better at reading, cooking, sewing, music, languages, etc... I was allowed time to do whatever I wanted while the rest of them had to catch up.
There is a lot more to being a parent than just making sure your kid eats three meals a day and doesn't die in a stupid way. And it seems like a lot of parents these days have completely forgotten that they have a duty to their kids beyond the feeding and clothing thing.
Certain things SHOULD be taught in schools, like how to balance a checkbook. But if it's clear that the school won't cover it, why aren't YOU doing something about that? And why do so many parents have no clue what the hell their kids are even getting up to in school? Why don't y'all get involved in your kid's lives?

Okay so I've been thinking about it more, I follow way too many fanfic writers with no time to update the ones i've started. (anyway..) For the Just Desserts AU Lucifer is under Adam's control, powerless, back home-to a home that never wanted him in the first place. So he's alone. He can't even explain himself to Adam since the first man hates him so much for ruining his peace. So he doesn't talk, he just takes it-some time he screams, knowing everyone in heaven has much as a blind eye as sinners in Hell. It's just pure torture for him, what the angels would call Just. It would take a while, but i almost can see Adam growing bored. Lilith never returned to Hell, it's not like her daughter will rage against Heaven, she doesn't care for Lucifer either. Adam hates them both, but when he sees how Lucifer looked at their ex. He sees the devil he thought he broke, look just as defeated if not more than he appeared in the golden chains at arrival.
I was thinking along the same lines. Adam had always wanted a servant. In fact, in this one, I've made a little piece in a discord server with some others of what Lucifer's reaction is to Lilith in Heaven. It won't be for a while until Adam feels any semblance of guilt or boredom.
Lute was seen as a hero for killing the devil and Adam watched as she was showered with praise. Lucifer was taken to Adam's house where he would make the ground rules. Lucifer was incredibly light, but he knew the collar and leash would be more degrading.
He paraded him through Heaven as everyone threw trash, hissed obscenities, and glared at Lucifer.
He ignored Lucifer's hiss when a stray rock scraped his cheek, leaving him bleeding.
He deserves much worse considering what he's done.
But as for hands, none were allowed to touch Lucifer except Adam. When they got to his house, he forced him to the ground at his feet. "Alright, snake. We're going over the rules."
First rule, talk of The Wives was completely Off Limits. Second rule. He can never talk with anyone alone. He has to stay with Adam. Fourth rule, listen to him. He trumps all others when it comes to instructions.
Adam even took him to see a certain special someone in Heaven knowing the outcome before the conversation even began.
When Lucifer saw Lilith, he tried rushing towards her, but the chain holding him prevented him from going far.
"Lilith!" He tried calling out but when she turned to him, she glared when she saw him.
"What the hell is he doing here?" She spat making him flinch. What was going on?
"Hey, bitch. Decided to bring my lap dog around."
"Lily?"
"Don't call me that." She snapped.
"I don't...I don't understand?"
"You still don't get it, do you? You're no longer powerful, I can tell." Why did that matter? "You were useless when we fell and you're even more useless now. At least before, you were the King of Hell. Now? You don't even have that."
Why was she saying this?
"...I love you." Lucifer tried saying.
"And that was your mistake. You have nothing to offer me anymore. You didn't when we Fell, and you don't now." She turned away to look at the ocean. "You're an eyesore." It was a dismissal.
Adam whistled. "Damn, I always forget how cold you are." He dragged a listless and crying Lucifer away.
"How does it feel to be abandoned, hu Lucifer? Hurts doesn't it?" Adam sneered.
Adam did not expect Lucifer to just shut down. It felt good to see him like that. Finally, Lucifer knew how it felt. Knew what it was like to be abandoned by the people you loved and trusted. Knew what it was like to have someone GLOAT about that hurt.
(Lilith never loved Lucifer and only used him for power. Now that he has none, she sees no reason to pretend for his fantasies any longer.)

Pick your own (Iridescent, Part 4)
Let me stress, this is not Maeve from the show, but my own Maeve just named the same to send Spencer into hell whenever he thinks about it.
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Fem!BAU!OC.
Summary: Their last coffee date before finally getting back to the office, he’s bored and wants to find out what she’s been working on.
Word Count: 1.4k
Warnings: swearing, spencer is an ass™
Parts: Pt1, Pt2, Pt3
Tumblr media
The probationary days are finally fucking over! He’s going back to work, for now, and is getting back into the office. Something he never thought he’d be this happy about. Although, the one person that seemed to be happier than him is Maeve.
He still hates calling her that in his head.
As they walked back down to her car, after getting the half decent coffee from her machine, with her holding both cups so that he can unlock the car, she had this annoying little jaunt to her walk. It’s irritating her, and she can already feel the scowl starting to break through.
“What’s gotten you so.. Chipper?”
She smiled at him, and even that didn’t seem as forced or sarcastic as usual. Even his perpetual irritation with her wasn’t going to dampen her mood today.
“We’re finally going back to work! Don’t get me wrong, it was nice to be attending lectures again, but I missed Garcia.. and the murderers.”
“You don’t miss murderers, Donnelly.”
Scoffing, he unlocked the car and watched her stack the coffee cups together to open the door and get in. Quickly following after, into the driver seat, so that he wouldn’t have to hear her complaining about him taking too long.
But when he got into the car, she was pouting softly into her drink, clearly she really did miss her murderers.
When starting the car, however, he finally realised. Not only was he going back to the BAU, but he’s going back with Maeve. This last month of having her as an assistant made him completely forget that she’s also his partner at work.
She’s going to overthrow every good thing about the place. It’s like when he found her uninvited at his front door - terrified of having her ruining everything inside.
For that reason, he downed his burning coffee - needing both the sting and the caffeine - and drove them silently to the office. He’s not sure she even notices his quiet, one because it’s normal at this point, and two, because she’s too busy humming along to the radio.
Getting into the building, immediately he hates it.
The guard greets her first and then him, someone asks her which button she needs pressing, her every waking second is going to be spent imposing on his home. His BAU.
As they got into the bullpen however, JJ spotted them first and walked over with a massive smile on his face, and he finally thought the day was going to get better. Until she hugged Maeve first and then him.
Leaving him mentally clocked out of their conversation as he feels himself having hugged Maeve through JJ, and he hates it.
Vaguely hearing her ask all about the month at college, and Maeve desperately wanting to catch up on all the cases she missed because of him. Then moving quickly on to ask about Will and the kids, and how everyone had been doing while they were gone.
There was a flash of blonde from the end of the corridor and Maeve grinned, bidding JJ a quick goodbye so that she could go find Garcia. Leaving him finally able to scowl at her back as she walked off, which JJ immediately caught onto, frowning up at him.
“Woah-- what’s up with you?”
He looked at her as if she was stupid, as if everyone around him were idiots for not seeing just how.. irritating Maeve is.
“She’s just.. annoying. Isn’t she irritating for everyone else?”
JJ blinked and he instantly knew he was in the minority on that opinion, even more so when they looked after Maeve and she was happily greeted by whichever agent walked past her.
“No? Maeve is actually really sweet. Why, did she do something?”
He didn’t answer, just stalking off to his desk, but it isn’t hard to connect the dots as to why he’s not overly fond of his new partner called Maeve.
It took a couple minutes before Maeve finally came to sit at her desk, and unfortunately, because they’re partners their desks are close to each other. Meaning he is, annoyingly, privy to all her conversations.
Unsurprisingly, she gets a decent amount of male attention, mostly from people that clearly don’t have a reason to being in the BAU bullpen besides wanting to come see her.
She either doesn’t notice or doesn’t care, treating every conversation the same.
By the time the fifth guy in only forty minutes had left, he was starting to lose his mind. He can’t concentrate with the train of people clearly just waiting for her desk to be free to talk to her, much less the fifth time he’s heard these generic male coworkers going “see you later Osmond!” before disappearing.
Finally turning to look at her, where she was trying to get her work done before the next distraction came along.
“What have those guys been calling you?”
Looking up, she was genuinely surprised that he was talking to her. Honestly, she had been expecting the silent treatment and pretending she didn't exist until they either caught a case or had to drive home together.
“Uhm..” Typing the last of her sentence, she turned, spinning her chair slowly until she was free to completely look at him. “Osmond, why?”
He made a face, looking between her and the guy still slowly walking down the corridor. Seemingly catching him in the act as he glanced back, clearly wanting to see if Maeve was watching him, only finding Spencer glaring.
Snapping his head back to Maeve was a grimace on his face, as if he felt truly sorry for them.
“That’s.. the fifth time you’ve been called that. I know other departments are stupid, but how did they get from Maeve to Osmond?”
Honestly, whenever she hears him say her name, it’s like she gets whiplash. Like he smacked her in the face with her own name. She just isn’t used to it - considering he’s called her assistant for the past month.
“Oh, well, when I joined people kept fucking up Donnelly, not that I know how, and so I was just called Donny.” Alright, he could see that connection, but it doesn’t explain- “Penelope then caught on and she loved it. But a week later she called me Osmond and it just stuck. Everyone calls me that now.”
She doesn’t hate the nickname, but she certainly doesn’t like it either. By the grimace still on Spencer’s face, he likes it about as much as she does. So she just shrugged and leant back in her chair, unsure what else he was waiting for her to say.
“But.. why?”
Maeve gave him a deadpan look, and he still continued to frown at her, impatiently waiting for an answer. She honestly couldn’t believe that wasn’t enough for him to understand.
“As in.. Donny Osmond?”
“No, I don’t know who that is.”
Snorting out a laugh, she turned to face her desk again, going back to typing up the rest of her report. Shaking her head good naturedly at him.
“You need to get out more.”
Feeling Spencer scowling at her is absolutely a skill, knowing damn well whenever he’s pissed at her enough for it to show on his face is impressive. At the very least, the conversation seems to be over now, with him staying quiet.
Until he huffs softly, irritated, and turns to his own desk.
“Well I’m not calling you that, it’s stupid.”
“I know. Feel free to make your own nickname, I’m afraid the receptionist is already called ‘bitch’, so you’ll have to pick another. Sorry~”
Throwing an apologetic pout over her shoulder, making him scowl at her all over again, before both of them finally got back to work.
Evidently, she became too engrossed in her casework, not hearing Penelope call out about a briefing. She didn’t even realise that everyone had gotten up and started to make their way to the round table. Not until Spencer dropped the file into her lap.
“Get a move on Ave, or we’ll start without you.”
As he walks off, she gives herself a few moments to react to the new name. Ave. She’s not been called that before.. and she definitely likes it a hell of a lot more than Osmond. But no more than a few seconds.
Getting up and following after him, making sure to school her expression in a room full of profilers.
Dammit, just because he called her a nickname she actually likes doesn’t mean it changes how she feels about him. Or how he feels about her. They know it's a hatred, or a high dislike at most. It’s been a month, and it isn’t going to change any time soon.
Whatever, he’ll probably forget about it soon, it’ll all go back to normal.

──────────────────── ⋆⋅☼⋅⋆ ───────────────────
₊ ⊹☼ Pairing: The8/Xu Minghao x reader ₊ ⊹☼ Synopsis: Multiple chance encounters across lives, with a soul somehow fated to yours throughout ₊ ⊹☼ Genre: Reincarnation au, slight fantasy/historic au ₊ ⊹☼ Word count: 1.67k ₊ ⊹☼ Warnings: Mentions of death, loss and grief. Minor character death mentions ₊ ⊹☼ A/N: This has been sitting in my drafts for a while as I didn't feel that the story was done yet. However, it's at a good point right now to post. Maybe I'll return to add to it further at one point though.
──────────────────── ⋆⋅☼⋅⋆ ───────────────────
Loss is an emptiness that eats away at the soul, a metaphorical knife carving it’s design on the surface but leaving behind wounds deep enough to bleed. And the strange thing about loss is you let it. In a sense it’s a sickly beautiful thing to experience as the blood pours out staining over the pure memories and taints them to be forever red. A crimson red that’s the same as the heart that somehow still beats inside your chest, because while it feels like everything should be still, time moves on. Time still encourages hearts to beat and wounds to bleed.
And bleed they do…
Your first loss shouldn’t be considered that actually. There are so many factors that completely contradict it as “the first loss you experienced”. For a start, you had lost people before. A woman who never had the chance to be a mother, your mother, passing away before she got even a second with her child. A young boy, who once you considered a brother, starved under the night sky with his eyes locked onto the moon. After all, Grief was no stranger to your soul. He visited often and settled in your bones like a heavy sick reminder of life.
No, none of these was your first loss. A kind of deep grief, yes, but they felt inevitable somehow.
Your first loss came in a form you never expected. A loss of opportunity and the questions of what could have been. Leaving the first scar of many dotted over your skin.
You didn’t know his name the first time, you barely got to know him at all actually. It was a fleeting moment that stopped the world if just for a second. Even if it was just for you.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The makeshift grave you created when Chan died was positioned out in a forest glade on the edge of town, giving him the privacy and peace he deserved. An ideal place for him to continue watching the night sky like he did when he was tangible, and now as a star, a place for him to look down on from above. It seems childish now thinking that was how the world worked, that he would stick around for you.
You know better now.
You had been spending the afternoon visiting him, after collecting flowers for your little stall, coming to rest up in the willow tree sheltering the glade from the outside view. The branches allowing you a raised position to look down below, which is how you spotted him initially. This dark haired beauty dressed in clothes that didn’t seem typical for that of normal adventurers. You assumed that’s what he must be, no one else tends to come out that far. Somehow, he had stumbled onto Chan’s clearing though, only the fates may know how, and came to a pause in front of the poorly carved headstone you placed on the first death anniversary. It didn’t matter that there was no body to bury, his memory would live on.
Something about that resonated in this figure’s mind. It wasn’t obvious at first but moments later when you got the first glimpse at his soul-bearing eyes and the way they scanned the words told you all you needed. He was memorising the words, breathing out his very essence into the world and immortalising this time. The phrase you had heard many times before bringing tears to your eyes as it was spoken out loud after a year again.
“The moon sure is lonely tonight”. He was just reading out loud that time, but maybe that’s why it left such an impact. There were no deeper connotations or commitments that suffocated the moment. It was raw and real.
If given the chance of every lifetime, you would chose to return to this moment eternally.
He left not long after that with a new print on his soul in the name of Lee Chan and the fleeting thoughts of a phrase once whispered. It wasn’t until afterwards that you saw the carefully placed bundle of forget-me-nots. Flowers that symbolise memorises and the concept of thinking of loved one ones while one is away. You don’t remember ever have crying as hard as you did that night as you allowed yourself to break down after having repressed everything for a long time. The hope that someone else would continue to think of the young boy and maybe one day return providing a sort of comfort you never realised you needed.
You continued with your routines and visits but never once saw the stranger again. Your first loss came unexpectedly and you couldn’t help but think of what could have happened if things were different. Had Chan been alive to greet him? Had you spoken out to him? Had you got to know him? But you didn’t and so the opportunity passed by and life continued until death came to claim you too.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What you didn’t expect was the life that came after and the memories that flickered back to you slowly. You could remember it all clearly at first but the more time progressed and lives were lived, the hazier things became. So you wrote to remember. Diary entries inked across pages depicting and detailing each moment and connection you continued to share.
It took you a total of three lives to realise you and your stranger were somehow connected. You seemed destined to spot him under the moonlight over and over again, each time bringing something new for you to note.
However, it was your fourth life that something truly changed, with an opportunity for the two of you to introduce yourselves. A night-time balcony overlooking the palace gardens providing a shared relief from the noise of the party inside. You had yet to see your stranger that lifetime and you certainly weren’t expecting to find him approaching you from behind on his own escape from the ballroom.
Your eyes had found comfort in the solitude of the starlit sky, with a faint recollection of a young voice discussing constellations in great enthusiasm. Your body curled up onto the stone edge with the coldness contrasting to the heat radiating from the party inside. There had been no mention of the balcony being off limits but it seemed abandoned in that moment similar to how you felt. Maybe that is why when you heard the small thuds of footsteps approaching you assumed it was a guard coming to bring you inside. However, as you turned around to face them, your breath stalled inside your throat.
There he was…
Face to face, the moments that followed allowed you both to subtly scan each other’s figures, sharing a second of joint solitude. His clothes reflecting his obviously high social status, yet you naturally found yourself focusing on his deep, knowledgeable eyes. The ones that both equally haunted and comforted your thoughts. Then he spoke and his light voice rung out in a whisper like he was afraid to break the silence.
“I’m sorry for interrupting you, but I needed some time away from the chaos and couldn’t help but notice you out here alone with only the moon for company. You both seemed rather lonely tonight. Would you mind me joining you?”
The paraphrasing of the familiar line rang in your ears as you couldn’t help but tear up and turn back to the full moon in an attempt for comfort.
“Not at all, feel free to join us.”
His figure stepping closer as he approached the balcony edge himself and admired the view before the two of you. It was a comfortable silence that followed, neither of you feeling the need to fill it with meaningless chatter at first. However, as you turned to gain another glance at him, wanting to capture every detail for your writing later on, your gaze fell onto the baby blue flowers that lay in his pocket.
“Forget-me-nots?”
As he turned to meet your eyes, he saw the way they lingered onto his flowers and then noticed the similar ones decorated into your own outfit.
“Hmm, there is something special about the resilience of these little blossoms which bloom in clusters throughout marshy harsh terrain. In a sense I admire the way they manage to preserve and grow with those tough conditions. It’s something I often see reflected in humanity, although, unlike the flowers, not often do people manage to make it full bloom I find.”
The philosophical answer was not one you had expected from him, but certainly wasn’t unwelcome. You had your own greater meanings to the flowers that you shared back with careful consideration, still unsure of if your stranger retained his memories like you. It was something you noted in a previous life where you tried to speak to a different Chan and was left alone once more, that not everyone had the privilege, or was it a curse, to remember like you do.
“For me, they symbolise remembering those who once were but no longer are. A promise to keep the memories of them alive for as long as you live. The stories you experienced and the thoughts you shared allowing a part of them to stay.”
Silence settled back down between the two of you, which is why you could hear the song that started to play out by the band. A slow dance of sorts. In some twist of destiny, he reached his hand out and asked for your hand before the two of you spent time twirling across the balcony. This moment shared only by you two and the sky.
As you came to a close and the clocks chimed to signal an hour passing, with you settled in your stranger’s arms, two names were breathed out into the universe before you parted ways and he disappeared back into the ball.
“Xu Minghao.”
A name meaning brightness and vastness, one that seemed to fit the person you came to spend time with perfectly.

I really miss Dragon Age 2.
#I’m not sure I can say it was the best one? technically speaking Origins probably is? but it was the one that I liked the story of most. it#hit me deepest. that messed me up but I also loved it. and it was much better designed for cause and effect#dragon age 2#inquisition is frustrating because half the time - especially w War Room - you pick as well as you can based on all the info you /have/ at#your disposal and it goes ‘hehe you picked Lelianna’s ‘let’s be cautious and scout first’ ^u^ over Josephine’s ‘let’s ask the nobles if they#can help intel gather’ and Cullen’s ‘let’s send our soldiers to look around’. 300 people died ^u^’#so if you want good results you either re-load or use a guide bc there’s little sense to it & you’re constantly punished not for really your#own choices but just arbitrarily. I used a guide like 3 times the entirety of DA2. I use them constantly for DAI becuase every time I go ‘im#just gonna play normally : )’ ten minutes later I tell some girl the wardens seem cool & she immediately gets brutally murdered#also they constantly have NPcs there to tell you something and die seconds later and it’s so annoying??? in every other DA game you can heal#and save NPCs you find injured but now they go ‘tell my wife…I’m sorry…’ and die and you have a quest to tell their wife ‘sorry I didn’t#give her one of the 40 health potions I was carrying’ or some idiocy. I have NOT ONCE been able to save by healing an NPC when in every#other game I had MANY chances. no heal even EXISTS as a spell in DAI when it’s a basic skill in every other game???#also the quests are structured so badly half the time I walk into a house and kill a monster and Varric goes ‘ah the High Beam Killer dead#at last’ and I won’t know what the fuck he’s saying At All but some quest marked Spooky Mansion is marked completed and I gain exp without#ever remotely knowing what the quest was in the first place#in DA2 when I got punished I deserved it. in Act3 the Mages with Grace suspected me of turning them in bc I tricked the Templars instead of#killing Thrask and that made sense. I did pick a slightly less safe outcome to protect him. i absolutely never betrayed them but I did take#a risk that put /them/ at risk and it made sense for her to distrust me. In DAI my friends get killed because I’m Qunari no matter what I do#at the war table before or after and they just give me pointless missions about it so I have the illusion of choice and consequence#DAI is obsessed with Only Bad Outcome quests because the Devs are centrists who think there’s no right answer to fucking anything and it#deeply damages the story structure and the quest load out#(I don’t hate DAI I’m just venting. I enjoy many many parts of it. but some I want to destroy rabidly with a hammer)

foreword: based on THIS anon everyone say THANKS anon. R and Eddie are in their early 20’s, R is on a gap year from college (so me), they’re in a new relationship with each other, I’m writing this while blasted on edibles idk what else to say 0_o
____
By nature, Eddie Munson is not a shy person.
Even though his dark reputation in Hawkins hasn’t been completely erased, he still manages to make friends wherever he goes through sheer force of personality. It’s like a magic trick, one that you never get tired of- he’ll pause in the middle of grocery stores to make faces at a baby in a stroller, getting belly laughs out of a stranger’s kid in less than ten seconds while still holding your hand down the aisle. One second he’s right behind you in the record store, looking over your shoulder as you browsed, and the next he’ll be on one knee charming a elementary school-aged kid into getting the latest Dio album.
You’ve seen him flirt his way out of speeding tickets with Hopper, for christ’s sake.
Eddie isn’t shy by any stretch of the imagination, so after three months of nothing but chaste kisses and quiet hand-holding, you’re left to assume he actually wants to take things slow with you.
He’s been nothing but a gentleman, in these early days of dating- the most action you’ve gotten from him was unintentional. On your third date, a dollop of his ice cream landed on your lap when he used the cone to gesture, which led him to manically grabbing napkins out of his dashboard to wipe at your skirt while you laughed it off. The second he’d brushed against your bare thigh he snapped his hands back like he’d touched a live wire, hastily heaping on apologies, leaving you to allay his nerves while wiping at the stain yourself.
Which, whatever. It’s fine. It’s not like you’re complaining about him being respectful, per se, it’s just that it’s getting harder and harder (hah) to pretend like you don’t wanna fuck him. The feeling between your thighs only seems to increase in intensity when he gives you one of those precious little hand kisses at the end of a date, or a closed-mouth peck before he drives off into the night.
Unfortunately for you and your wet dreams, Eddie Munson has the most edible body you’ve ever seen. Biceps bulging through those form-fitting tees he likes to wear, rounded nose and strong jaw outlined by that cloud of soft black hair, those lithe hips…
Hips that you’re openly staring at from across the room as you sit quietly on Eddie’s couch. He’s reaching up to grab a mug from the cabinet, his Metallica tee pulling up out of his dark denim at the motion, flashing a stripe of his pale lower back.
You feel like a Victorian maid seeing ankle for the first time. You subtly press your thighs together under your short tartan skirt as Eddie moves around the kitchen, talking animatedly about the start of his upcoming campaign.
“I haven’t decided yet if I’m gonna go easy on the little shits or not,” he says, metal spoon clinking against ceramic as he mixes hot chocolate powder. “It’s Max’s first session as an official player, and I don’t wanna scare her off but I do have a reputation to uphold.”
“Yeah,” you agree, giving him a knowing smile as he crosses the room to pass you your mug- “You’re a DM most fearsome. Can’t let them off the hook too easily.”
Eddie blooms under your praise, wiggling his eyebrows with familiar cockiness as he settles on the cushion beside you. “Gotta keep Hawkins' finest in line. It’s a tough gig but I did swear an oath, after all.”
You smile around a sip of hot cocoa, then reach over to set your mug on the coffee table. Eddie has been sat in his usual manner (knees far enough apart to be taking up his whole seat, arm draped casually on the back of the couch) but the second your knee knocks against his, he adjusts himself stiffly, drawing his arm back with a nervous throat-clearing and a murmured “sorry”.
Normally you’d let it go, not wanting to push the issue past the point of his comfortability. But it’s been Three. Months. Of this. And you wanna test the waters, just a little.
“Sorry for what?” You ask, rotating to face him, your shoulders almost-but-not-quite touching.
He’d doing an uncanny impression of a deer caught in headlights, blinking at you with those doey brown eyes, stuttering his way through a weak explanation- “Uh… uh. Sorry for being- f-for touching you?”
There’s a lift at the end of his sentence, one that you mirror with a tilt of your own brow, a playful challenge. “You don’t have to apologize for touching me, Eddie. I’m your girlfriend.”
He chuckles, a nervous edge bleeding around the sound. The curls around his face dance with the head shake he gives. “No, of course, yeah, I know that.”
“Do you?” You scoot closer, a kick of assertiveness giving you the courage to press your leg against his.
“Uh huh.” He’s gazing openly now at the bare skin of your thigh, like he’s waiting to see if it'll burn a hole into his denim.
When you gently lift his hand and place it on the skin that he’s looking at, you hear him gulp, audibly.
So he does want to touch you. Interesting.
You know for a fact Eddie’s not a virgin. Back in high school, you’d both dated around your respective circles, gossip surrounding escapades in the Munson Van circulating back to you through mutual friends. When he’d asked you out a few months previous, you’d happily accepted, wanting to take full advantage of your interim gap year from college. For the first few weeks, you’d chalked his near-celibate behavior up to nerves.
But now, you’ve got him squirming with just a thigh touch. So maybe… he’s waiting for you to make the first move?
Fuck testing the waters- you’re gonna dive in head-first.
You swing your leg over his lap, kneeling on the outside of his hips. His hands automatically go to your waist, and he lets out a little “Oh” as you rest your arms around his shoulders.
“You gonna kiss your girlfriend?” you whisper, forehead crushing into his bangs as you wrap a hand around the back of his neck.
Eddie looks up at you like he’s seeing a full moon for the first time, eyes sparkling with want. “Yeah,” he rasps, angling his face up to kiss you.
It’s soft, at first, like it always has been. His plush lips softly move against yours, breaking for air once, twice; when he kisses you with that same softness for a third time you press your tongue to the seam between his lips.
He lets you in with a little noise, low in the back of his throat as you lick into his mouth. His hands twitch on your hips as your tongues twine, slight movements in his own hips creating a ripple effect.
When the hard seam of his jeans bumps against the warmth of your cunt, you both gasp, your hand at the back of his neck tightening.
“We should probably, um-” he’s panting against your mouth, grip flexing between hard and soft- “I mean, if you wanna stop…”
“I don’t wanna stop. Do you wanna stop?” you ask, equally out of breath.
“Fuck no,” he rasps again, in that smoke-salt voice, and this time when he kisses you it’s with one hand at the back of your head and the other pulling your hips to meet his.
The noises from the wet slide of your mouths are turning you on more than you care to admit, and you’re sure he can feel the damp patch that’s soaking through your panties as the crotch of his jeans make contact again. Which normally would make you feel really self-conscious, if it weren’t for the fact that Eddie’s hard as a rock underneath you, the bulge in his pants thickening with each roll of your hips.
You drop your kisses down, exploring where you haven’t been able to before: against his cheek, his jaw, stopping just behind his ear. Unable to help yourself, you graze your teeth against the velvet skin there, and he jolts beneath you with a small yelp.
“Sorry,” you whisper, still a touch mirthful but soothing your tongue over the mark.
Eddie brushes his thumb across the back of your neck as you continue your path down the column of his throat. “Now who’s sayin’ sorry for no reason. Baby, I’m begging you to do that again.”
So you do, this time at the junction where his neck and shoulder meet, grinning against his skin when he groans and bucks his hips up.
Around your hickey-making, he’s choking out words that you just manage to string together. “I wanna… make you feel- christ, sweetheart- good too, wanna make it good for you-”
When you sit up to see his face, he looks absolutely wrecked- rosy flush in his cheeks, lips swollen and kiss-bitten, pupils blown so big his eyes are nearly black with lust.
“You are making me feel good,” you assure him, pulling the hand he’s got on your neck down to where the end of your skirt sits, pausing before your next move. “You want me to prove it?”
He nods, and you guide him into the warmth of your thighs, letting his fingers graze the stickiness that’s been steadily soaking through the fabric.
Eddie inhales sharply, moans out, “Fuck, honey”, and when his thumb finds your clit you sink down into his touch, stomach tightening with the shock of arousal coursing through you.
He’s watching your face intently as he slowly circles your clit, gauging your reactions, pressing in a bit harder and faster when the pace change makes you cry out.
Feeling doubly exposed with his eye contact and hand against your core, you try making a joke to diffuse some of the tension as the pad of his finger moves against you in steady rhythm. “Still thinkin’ about stopping?”
“A train could crash through that wall and it wouldn’t stop me for a second,” Eddie says, resolute and getting a little braver, kissing his own path across your throat, nibbling at a spot that makes your clit pulse beneath his fingertip and your cunt clench around nothing.
Goddamn, he’s a quick learner. In less than two minutes he’s got you so close to the edge, squirming around his touch, that you have to grab his wrist and still his fingers between your thighs.
“What’s wrong?” he asks. You can feel his breath punching up down up, your breasts pushed up against his chest from the way your body was trying to coil in on itself.
“Nothing,” you assure him, and now it’s your turn to falter around your words. “I just- maybe can I… I wanna get o-off at the same time. If you want. And I’m really, really close.”
Eddie’s head falls back against the couch with a thunk, eyes scrunching shut as if in concentration, a strung-out whine leaving his throat. “Hang on. Give me a second.”
He’s still got his hand on your clothed pussy, and you can’t help but giggle once he blinks back to the present, dazed- “Christ. You can’t say shit like that, baby, I almost came in my jeans.”
You give him a condescending little pout, accented with another twist of your hips. “Well maybe that’s what I want.”
“Give you anything,” Eddie replies, unabashedly babbling now as you adjust yourself in his lap. “Anything you want, sweetheart. It’s yours. All yours.”
He helps you maneuver into a new angle: now, your drenched core can rub freely against his thigh, while your knee in the socket of his hip means he can rut his cock along the flat of your leg.
When you move experimentally in shallow circles on his thigh, the newly-gained friction lights up your throbbing clit. Soon, all pretenses melt away as you both find your rhythm again, little grunts and pants filling the air.
“Feel good, angel? That’s it,” Eddie encourages, slipping his hand under your skirt to grope at the meat of your ass, helping your movements along as he chases his own pleasure with a rocking grind against your leg. “Take what you need. Lemme get you there. Please, please…”
His whines spur you on, one of your hands shooting out to clutch at the back of the couch beside his head while the other anchors itself on his opposing bicep. “Fuck, Eddie, keep talking like that, ‘m so close…”
“Talk to you all day,” he heaves out, “you make me so fucking hard, princess. You feel how hard I am for you? God, you’re so wet, that’s so fucking hot…”
You should have expected that bravado and charm you’ve seen these last few years to naturally be carried over into his sex life, but god, not in your wettest of dreams could you have imagined the mouth on him.
The combination of his dirty talk and thigh between your legs is bringing you right up to that edge again, toes curling in anticipation, cunt starting to flutter erratically with every thrust.
“Fuck, baby, I’m gonna come…” your head rolls back on its hinge, eyes flickering shut as Eddie fumbles to catch at your clit again, movements becoming sloppy.
“C’mon, pretty baby, let go.” He’s sucking another mark into your neck between his praises, teeth catching- “Let me see you come, honey, be a good girl for daddy…”
“Jesus FUCKING christ” is all you manage to grit out before you’re tipping over the edge into orgasm, all your muscles bearing down into the bright point of pleasure, high sob winding its way from your throat.
Eddie keeps kneading at your spasming clit as you ride it out on his thigh, even as he lets out a series of short, keening whimpers, even as his cock jerks against your leg into his own release.
You sag into his waiting arms, tittering lightly against his neck as you both work on catching your collective breaths.
“Holy shit, and I was really starting to think you actually didn’t want to fuck me.” You laugh in relief.
His hand pauses mid-stroke up the slope of your back, sounding genuinely aghast when he asks “Why the fuck would you think that?”
You straighten in his arms with an incredulous stare. “Uh, maybe because you acted like a monk that I was corrupting every time I even breathed near you?”
Eddie covers his eyes with his hands, heels to sockets, groaning- “Fuck, honey, I was tryn’a be respectful. You’re telling me we could’ve been doing this sooner?”
You reach to soothe your palms over the length of his forearms, equally fond and serious when you say “I’m telling you I absolutely would have slept with you on the first date.”
He makes a strangled, pained noise before you continue- “You described to me in detail the entire mating cycle of a bat, and then walked directly into a trash can by accident. How did you expect me to wait on jumping your bones?”
He lets you take his hands, enveloping them in your own and bringing them to your chest, pressing your lips affectionately to each ring.
He whispers, “Can I ask you something?”
When you look up at him again, he says, with sincerity, “Can I see your tits next time?”
You hide your laughter into the crook of his neck.

I am haunted by the detailed, completed map of Hell that Edwin took notes on. You don’t understand, it makes me sick. It’s one thing to have a basic layout, a vague idea, or a rudimentary map but it was meticulously detailed. Down to doors and what they do and where they go. Down to secret spaces in the walls. He even knew what ringing an innocuous bell would do. It can only mean one thing. We don’t know when Edwin began trying to escape, but assuming he started from the get go, it means that he spent all his decades in Hell trying to find a way out. He never stopped running. And that is assuming he never stopped. From his second trip, we could see he resorted to his old ways and ran. But he was eventually caught, reduced to pieces. Even when Charles showed up, he didn’t seem very optimistic about their chances. He could feel every second of those 70 years. There were likely many times he fell to hopelessness, trembling in the corner watching himself be desecrated knowing it was going to happen again and again. How long? How many times did he try to be so, so quiet, hoping he would have a few moments before the next round? How many times did he muster the ability to run, just one more time? How long did it take him to run, discovering the ends of each ring? How many times did he sprint up, down, north, south, east, west, trying to escape? And what happened when he finally escaped? How long did it take for him to be able to relax, even a little? Because he can never relax. He must always outrun Death and her constituents because he can’t count on them to be fair. How many times does he look over his shoulder, waiting for the monster to claim its eternal meal once again? His breath of fresh air, his first taste of companionship in ages not only keeps him company, but sticks by him. And then, in that blessing there comes a curse, because now you have something to lose. Because when you taste ambrosia how can you return to starvation? He feels safe with Charles. Happy and comfortable, but the threat always lingers. And he knows that Charles couldn’t fend off Death. He never considered he could fend off Hell beasts; after all, he’s just a ghost kid. He watches innocents be slaughtered on repeat, unphased by the level of violence but no less affected by it, because no one has even a clue what it takes to be this kind. Even at his most happy, he has so, so much to lose and he goes back to Hell when hope was dangled in his face like the fruit of Tantalus. When he returns, he’s subjected to Hell once again, sustaining through torture that obliterates souls, only to watch his best friend, his confidant, his platonic soulmate, die horrifically. This woman who gave him sea-glass courage, so powerful and yet so fragile. Allowed him to be himself, gave him permission to do so. Was the openness to his closed self, and now she is gone. And he retains his composure, his stiff, British posture because it is what has saved him from madness and Despair, protected him, and now the world is darker without Niko Sasaki in it. But surely he saw this coming. After all, humans are messy. And yet, he shows up for their souls, time and time again.
Edwin Payne is THE character.

Fight
Tumblr media
Pairing: Ghost x Reader, Price x Reader, Soap x Reader, Gaz x Reader
Summary: Your child gets in trouble
a/n: This one is a little different from my usual ones, but I just felt like writing for all four of them. I'm not sure how accurate you'll all find them as I've deliberately exaggerated them, but I do believe that Gaz is a sassy man after seeing how he didn't want to shake Graves' hand. I've also named the children of the TF141, I hope that's okay with you all.
Tumblr media
Scenario:
The moment you both heard that your child got in trouble, the first thing you two did was rush into the principal's office in fear that something happened.
And now you were both sitting in the principal's office with your child, while another child was there with his parents.
Tumblr media
Ghost:
Your eyes widened as you heard the principal say that Daisy and another girl in her class had gotten into a physical fight.
"There was also something your daughter said that is completely unacceptable," Mr. Smith said, looking disappointed at Daisy, even though the girl apparently started the fight and your daughter was just defending herself.
"It wasn't even that bad..." Daisy muttered underneath her breath as she crossed her arms.
Simon was very quiet, but his stoic expression spoke for itself.
"Daisy, I want you to quote what you said," Mr. Smith continued, not wanting to hear another word from her unless she quoted exactly what she said to the girl.
Your daughter looked at you, a pleading look on her face but you just shook your head at her in disappointment, wanting to hear what she said.
She sighed and quoted what she had said before, "You have a face that only a mother could love."
Without missing a single beat, Simon started wheezing in his seat the moment he heard his daughter's insult to the girl.
You glared at him, "Simon!"
Trying to calm down, he put his palm on his mouth as he continued, completely ignoring the angry looks of the principal and the other family.
"Mr. Riley, I want you to calm down. This is highly inappropriate," Mr. Smith said as Simon calmed down.
A few seconds of silence passed between you all before your beloved husband opened his mouth.
"Did you win?"
"Simon!?"
Tumblr media
Price:
It felt like hours as the girl's parents and the girl herself ranted and raved about the fact that your daughter Sophie punched her.
At first you had both been shocked, completely angry at your daughter until the parents opened their mouths to speak.
You almost fell asleep listening to the mother go on and on about how her daughter's nose was bleeding because of Sophie.
Price, on the other hand, sat still in his seat, listening to the whole thing, not having said a word since he walked into the principal's office.
"Your daughter should be suspended!" The father said, glaring at Sophie.
Mr. Smith didn't even get a single chance to say anything, as they continued.
Slowly, Price seemed to lose his patience and turned his head towards you and your daughter.
He whispered, "Punch her harder next time."
"What?" The principal asks.
"Nothing."
Price says as Sophie giggles at her dad.
You tried to stifle your grin by putting a hand over your mouth, just hoping that the parents would shut up soon.
Tumblr media
Soap:
Your son sat between the two of you, his nose bleeding and his face bruised as he frowned at the boy and his parents.
You were extremely worried as you put a hand on your son, Callum's arm, and quietly asked him if he was hurt anywhere else.
Callum just shook his head, not wanting to speak while Soap was already getting bored listening to all of the talking the principal was doing.
"It doesn't matter if he started insulting him because Callum was the one who got violent," Mr. Smith said as you tried to defend your son.
The boy obviously looked much worse than Callum. His hair was disheveled and his face was bruised. His nose was also bleeding, as was his lower lip.
It looked like your son had done some damage.
"What exactly did he do?" Soap asked, wanting to know exactly how Callum had hit the boy.
As Mr. Smith explained what your son had done, Soap's eyes lit up and a smile appeared on his face.
"I'm so proud of you, you used the punch I taught you," Soap said, extremely pleased that Callum had listened and actually used the things he had taught him.
Callum grinned at his dad's antics as you put your face in your hands, sighing and muttering "Why did I marry this idiot..."
Tumblr media
Gaz:
You were shocked to hear what your son, Ethan, had done to the boy.
Mr. Smith was obviously upset and angry that Ethan had acted so childishly, and immediately got into a physical fight the moment the boy wouldn't stop insulting him.
You felt the headache already pounding in your head as you rubbed your temple, completely out of it.
Ethan didn't really say anything, he just listened to everything that was said.
The boy's parents glared at the three of you, never once looking away.
The boy that insulted your son, looked angry, obviously still being pissed at the fact that Ethan punched him, even though he himself started with the insults.
Gaz was not even shocked, sitting there with his hand holding up his head up as he looked extremely uninterested in the principal's endless speech.
Rolling his eyes, Gaz moved closer to you and Ethan as he whispered.
"Did you break any of his bones?"
"No."
"Good, because I'm not paying anything in this economy."

wallpaper
summary: bucky finds out how to change the wallpaper on your phone, and takes every opportunity he can to do so. until one day he doesn't have the heart to
pairing: bucky barnes x female reader
word count: 1000
warnings: fluff, nonspecific friends to lovers, this was just a dumb idea i had
《《《《 ♡ 》》》》
The first time Bucky changed the wallpaper on your phone, it was an accident - kind of. He sat on your couch, lazily scrolling through the photos of Alpine you insisted he looked at, because you simply couldn’t resist having a Halloween photoshoot with her while he was off on yet another mission, leaving her in your trusting hands. He was happy you were in the kitchen, because he would never let you see the smile he wore as he browsed the album, chuckling silently to himself over how elaborate these photos were. His mood swiftly changed when he swiped incorrectly, an array of different options suddenly presenting themselves to him. He swore under his breath as he tried to make them go away, but he only made it worse as the option to change your wallpaper came up. With an annoyed huff, he just kept tapping, figuring that eventually he would get it back to how it was. After a few more grueling seconds, he sighed in relief as he was once more face to face with Alpine sitting inside a jack-o-lantern candy bucket - how was he supposed to know that photo was now both your lockscreen and homescreen?
“Did you change my lockscreen?” you curiously asked when you finally sat back down beside him, taking your phone and checking it for any new messages.
“Did I what?” he asked in confusion, his head snapping up from his own phone to look at you with a scrunched brow.
You could only laugh lightly, turning your phone to display the new photo brandishing your screen. The second Bucky saw it, his eyes widened almost imperceptibly as his face flushed ever so slightly.
“I, uh- sorry,” he muttered, scratching the back of his neck. “I didn’t mean to, your phone is just - it’s different than mine.”
You couldn’t help but chuckle fondly, your chuckles growing into more laughter as you realized it was also your homescreen. “It’s okay, Buck,” you assured softly, laughing quietly as you changed the photos back to their precursors. “It could have been worse, at least it’s not an embarrassing photo or something.”
You were too busy fixing his mistake to notice the glint that sparkled in his eyes, a smirk growing on his face as your words gave him the most incredible idea he’s had in a while.
The second time Bucky changed your wallpaper, it was very much not an accident. You left him your phone so he could look at the photos you took on your latest trip, unpacking your bags as he split his attention between listening to your stories and scrolling through a seemingly endless array of new pictures - which he truthfully enjoyed, but he was on a secret mission for the perfect, nondescript one to choose.
“Again, Buck?” you giggled, flopping on the bed beside him as you took your phone back.
“What?” he asked, just innocent and clueless enough to not raise any flags.
“You and your fat thumbs, I swear,” you mumbled under your breath, changing the photos back once more, completely oblivious to his proud little smirk.
It took three more times for you to suspect that Bucky had started doing it on purpose, but your suspicions weren’t proven correct until he took a photo of you to display.
“Did you- when- really?” you stammered as you looked between him and your phone, half annoyed and half impressed because when did he even take this photo?
He only grinned in response, laughing about how long he was able to do it under the pretense of it being an accident before running away in a fit of giggles, dodging the pillow you threw after him.
From that moment on, it became a game for him.
Any opportunity that presented itself, Bucky snatched your phone and changed your displays to the most embarrassing and ridiculous photos of yourself.
A sunset was changed to you mid-sneeze. Alpine was changed to you post-nap. You partying with the gang was changed to an extreme close up of your face in that very photo. Louisiana docks were changed to you mid rant as you yelled at him to give you your phone back. A cherry blossom was changed to you passed out on the couch, wrapped up in a hoodie you stole from him and drooling all over the sleeve of it.
As time went on, you stopped being surprised whenever it happened, and you grew to enjoy it. It was a silly thing, but it was a silly thing that only you and Bucky shared. It was a special thing, a cherished thing. It was your favourite thing.
Neither of you realized how the dynamic between the two of you started morphing into something else right in front of your very eyes. It was slow. It was gradual and complex and delicate and went unnoticed for almost a whole year.
It was only noticed now, as Bucky took the opportunity to grab your phone as you slept soundly against his chest. It had been a while since he was able to get a chance to do this, and so he eagerly unlocked your phone, already running through different ideas of what picture to use.
He was caught off guard when the picture staring back at him was from a few weeks ago. It was the day you finally convinced him to let you drive his bike after months of endless asking. It was a photo neither of you knew Sam took until later that night, when he sent it to both of you.
It was you, sat in front of him on the bike and wrapped up in his arms, one securely planted on either side of you as his hands rested on yours, guiding you through everything as you both gleefully laughed at the fact that you actually managed to convince him to do this.
For once, Bucky didn’t have the heart to change it.
He couldn’t.
It was his wallpaper, too.
