So i was thinking earlier, and if you've been around here any length of time you know i think about that cemetery scene a lot, because narratively it's a very interesting scene because it changes the tone of their relationship in comparison to the rest of the show really, and it's a fascinating choice in the context of the episodes before. Even the whole point of the conversation happening at a cemetery where they're visiting someone who didn't die on their watch. But i have a tendency to look at that scene from Eddie's eyes because when you look at it along with all of Eddie's reactions surrounding Buck's death and the reactions Eddie was having to Buck's words, that feels like a breakup. It feels like we are watching Eddie's heart break in real time, yk? BUT Buck is very purposeful in that scene too. He's basically daring Eddie to say something but Eddie just thinks that he needs to agree. And if you look at it that way and think about it as Buck asking for a reaction, you can argue Buck feels rejected there too, even though Eddie thinks he's being supportive. They are saying things and they are being misinterpreted. Both of them leave that talk with different views of what happened. And that's VERY interesting with how strongly the show pushed Buck, Eddie and Chris as a family unity in the episodes before and, well, i dont really know how the show plans to recover from that. If they plan on addressing it at all. Like, that was a breakup. But if it's a breakup where both of them think they got broken up with, how do you come back? You need to acknowledge it in some way. Even more with the space that was put between the two of them. But it's a good thing because the space can be used for some individual growth they need to do in order for the relationship to actually work long term. Mainly Buck learning to deal with his own feelings and asking for things and Eddie stopping assuming he knows best and making unilateral choices for both of them with the "I knew you wouldn't" excuse (and Buck stopping letting him get away with it). And the only way they come back from it in a satisfying way is for them to actually acknowledge the fact that they are not actually in each other's minds and sometimes things will get lost in translation and that addressing them doesn't need to be a public blowout (I think there's a lingering thing about how the last time they truly were on different sides of an argument, things got completely out of both of their control). The only way to bring them back is to talk about why there's space in the first place. And well, I live in delusionland, I will always look at things in a narrative lens trying to figure out how does that further the plot in a way that gets them together. And if the cemetery is really supposed to be seen as a breakup of sorts, unless they are planning on perpetually separating Buck and Eddie's plots (which particularly, I think it's a dumb move, not even just as a shipper, but because they have a fascinating relationship no matter how you look at it and losing that would take a toll on the overall way to look at both of them), they will have to talk about it. That scene is too long and too purposeful to be the type of thing that will be ignored.

My theory about Furina is that the girl we know is simply a meka/puppet expertly made to look like the real Furina (we know this is possible with Ei, she has two puppets in her likeness), and the reason Neuvillette HAS to be around her at all times is because she isn't allowed to talk about highly secret topics, unlike the real Furina, down under the opera house, under the Oratrice, powering her Gnosis with the people's belief (in Justice, of which she is the archon). I believe she must be holed up there, possibly buried in research, likely trying to solve the primordial sea crisis without alerting the research institute, and I believe that she was the one who called out to Lyney when he performed his trick.

Neuvillette, as the dragon bound to the hydro archon (I HATE when they throw away these tiny lines that reveal insane lore, like how Celestia stole the dragons' power to give to the archons, which I now believe to be what is stored within the Gnoses. This also informs my idea on what the Tsaritsa is planning, but that's another theory haha) is faithfully taking care of this Meka-Furina and covering for her weaknesses. When she doesn't have clearance to speak on a matter, Neuvillete steps in. When a matter has no bearing on her true, secret work, she is free to act as she wishes (though she does still have a sort-of retainer in Chlorinde, who seems to know plenty more than she lets on). He attends important meetings at her side and rules over the court, responding to the oratrice, in order to keep up appearances while the true archon is trying to solve the crisis. And perhaps, the supposed real Furina is the one calling the oratrice's judgements, instead of it being The People; and when she noticed something off about Childe, she overruled the guiltless charge.

I can't explain the "curse" thing, perhaps it's just tied to the oratrice or the primordial sea, I have yet to know enough about her to figure out the curse's nature, but I think my theory covers a lot of ground otherwise. A meka created only to be a figurehead doesn't need to have any power within it, and as we've seen with Raiden, puppets are capable of having their own personality. In the past I considered Raiden's personality to be the "robot is emotionally cold" trope, but now I think Raiden was created to be strict and unbending on purpose by a grieving woman, as such traits would make her a perfect ruler in the absence of the real one - which also makes her reaction to Wanderer's gentleness make more sense. Rather than "omg why is he crying?? Sweet boy be free! Rip!" it paints a "you and I were not built for this painful world, and I don't wish to hurt a being that feels so softly" painting. That was a tangent, but in any case, The Wanderer, another puppet, also has a unique personality. We know him well, and that he even has his own desires and goals. The Katherines are also unique, even if they have a much lower level of consciousness (?). So why shouldn't a Meka Furina have such a unique, at-odds-with-itself personality, a true facade inside and out?

Thoughts on the Donquixote's crucifixion.

Since today is Good Friday I felt like sharing this piece of interpretation of Donquixote family's "crucifixion". Throughout the series and Doflamingo's life I think we can see some symbolism, paralelism, or just vague allusions and hints to his nature being similar to that of the Antichrist (opposite of Christ) or the idea of Doflamingo as Lucifer or a fallen angel (we see something akin to The Last Supper with his "family", including his own personal "Judas" sitting at his left; his ideology of being the rightful king to rule the world, yet not being willing to sacrifiece himself for anyone, but actually expecting everybody else to sacrifice themselves for him; his agent-of-chaos personality; the entire idea that he is almost a devine creature that fell from Heaven to Hell, stripped of his rightful power, status, and legitimate possition above humans, betrayed by his own family and blood; the nickname "Heavenly Demon", etc.). However, I believe the moment in his life he comes to incarnate all these topics comes just after his and his family's crucifixion, or just right after the very moment he lashes out against the rabbid mob awakening and loosing his haki. Just seconds before we have this image:

Here we have Homing, whom we know is a good man, in the middle, at the centre of the scene. Rocinante is to his right hand side, and Doflamingo is to his left. As you might know, Jesus Christ was crucified together with two more people, often refered to as the good thief (traditionally named Dimas/Dismas), and the bad thief (traditionally named Gestas). The good thief was crucified at the right hand side of Jesus, while the bad thief was cricified at his left. Maybe I am looking to much into it, and I'm pretty sure someone else must have already realised this, but I can't help to notice the paralelisms and similarities. In this scene, while all Homing is concerened with is the safety of his children and doesn't mind begging and humiliating himself to try to get the mob to free them, to the point he asks the enraged mob to forgive his children, for they were only little kids, Doflamingo's anger gets the best of him and he lashes out at the crowd, not asking nor begging them to put him down, but threatening to kill them all for their actions, all while blaming his father for all his surffering and his family tragic fate. No forgiveness, no acceptance, but defiance and a promise of vicious and bloody revenge for his father and the craze mob's wrong-doings. Homing was willing to take in all the hate, die for the sins his kind had committed over the centuries, if only to appease the mob and get them to spare his children. He was willing to die for them (and he eventually did, though not in the best way possible, tbh), he was a good person and this scene perfectly shows that, despite his naiveté and the tragic and dire consequences of his actions, he acted out of the goodness of his heart. Doflamingo would not even lower himself to the point of asking for mercy, not before humans he believed were below him. We all know how the story goes, how Doflamingo and Rocinante turned out to be complete different people, with the whole good vs evil motive they have going on. Again, I'm probably digging too much into it, but I just like the Rosi/Dismas, Doffy/Gestas and Homing/Christ paralelism. More so considering how Homing will eventually willingly die for his kids' future, which sounds kinda biblical given we are all God's sons and daughters, and he (Jesus, God's son, God himself) died for us (even if in Homing's case he did die for nothing, as Doffy will not be accepted back among his kind); and how, just after Homing's (Jesus) death, it will be Doffy who becomes, in a way, the symbol of the fallen angel, of the gone-wrong-Jesus, of the anti-Christ, almost Satan himself (ruling the underworld, as his father's heresy took the throne above away from him). He replaces his father as the semi-Biblical almost Christ-like figure, but in a reversed, twisted and sick way.
