The Stars Aligned - a dramione fanfic.

This one I would give four stars ✨ to, especially after having some time to think on it. I really enjoyed the relationships both romantic and friendship wise all throughout this story. I’m not quite sure I would put this in my reread pile without a nudge but I will admit I truly enjoyed my time reading it.

Fourth Wing is EXTREMELY Dramione.

Why is this NOT the first thing anyone says about this book?? Like the vibes alone are unmistakable?!

Data under the cut

Castle with four quadrants that correspond directly to the hogwarts houses lol. Violet was training to be a ravenclaw and ended up with the conniving slytherins (arguably riders could be gryffindor but I think they’re the infantry). Hufflepuff healers obv.

She uses her smarts to do well in things she’s not adept in, relies in others to train her in this new world (older students being purebloods vs muggleborn).

Unusual hair that gets referenced all the time for no reason and love interest is obsessed with.

Older friend who’s buff and athletici and they haven’t seen each other in awhile(Dain=Krum imo)

Xaden is a dick with a permanent tattoo associating him with the Bad Guys (Dark Mark)

Character analogs: Sawyer=Ron, Rhiannon=Harry, Cedric=Liam, Ridoc=Seamus

They kiss against large stones (aka where Hermione decks Draco) and in the snow (aka where Draco gets “jealous” of Ron).

In general plot terms: a secret threat that the establishment is trying to hide/downplay.

Her power is a gold timeturner dragon lol

For fanfic hallmarks we have: every chapter a cliffhanger, some chapters randomly shorter than others (I can just FEEL the “sorry for the short chapter!!” author notes lol). Randomly introducing integral characters super late because you forgot to add them in early and can’t really edit already published chapters (Liam), randomly dropping established characters who are boring/unpopular (Sawyer)—both of which work in fanfic as these characters are pre-established and are more like set dressing than parts of the story.

Also I’m betting her nickname was either Danger, Painger, or Hurtmione lol.

#fanfic with the serial number filed off #like the shadows thing and quadrants could be Shadow and Bone but the characters have no viable analogs. They’re all bitchy children lol #tattoos are definitely acotar-ish but too childish to be azriel/oc or even rysand/oc #if it didn’t start as dramione i will eat my flight leathers #did I hate it?? idk lol #I do wonder if this started as hippogriff riders or if the gryffons were the hippogriffs and they were dragons all along

Fave fan fiction atm? ✍️

Gawsh, at the moment?!

When it comes to fan-fics, I'm a multi-chapter, canon-universe kinda gal, and I usually don't start reading until the fic's got a couple of chapters going and updating regularly since I like reading stuff in one go (because so many I'd started on ended up unfinished and that kinda hurt since I get invested 😩), but I'm following quite a bunch at the moment 😅

My favourite fan-fiction to read will always be Elriel (they've kept me thirsty so they're actually the ones that got me started on fanfics), but I also read some Dramione, Elorcan, & random LOTR every now and then.

I'm sure you're already following/read the most easy to find, frequently mentioned, and already established ones, so I'll skip mentioning those.

If I'm going to recommend any of those I'm reading "at the moment" it would be the following that deserve so many more kudos and comments and hits and over-all LOVE and appreciation, imo:

@merakimoonglade's Chiaroscuro series! (Elriel)

I read it all in one go some weekends ago and fell in love with the author's unique, emotive, and beautifully descriptive style of writing. It's also filled with crumbs that are a delight to find here and there throughout. My heart hurt after finishing it, so I'll warn you for that, but that's because there were such lovely and light, but also angst-filled moments. She also has a multi-chapter fic on the works called Shadowlight which is a bit of a continuation to the series, and that's why it's a must include in this "at the moment" list. 😊

@violetasteracademic's Golden Doe in a Valley of Shadows (Elriel)

As I've mentioned, I don't usually start "In Progress" fics until they're well a couple of chapters in, but violetasteracademic is so intelligent and lovely - just like her writing! My favourite kind of people are those who reply to all the comments/messages even though they don't have to, so I automatically loved her! Therefore, my curiosity got the better of me, so I read 1 chapter, obviously got hooked immediately, and she's kept us fed and spoiled with nearly daily updates since then like the absolute ✨Mother✨ she is... So this is already a must-read!

@tealeaves-and-rosepetals's Resilience and Roses (Elriel)

Probably one of my all-time favourite fics because it's probably one of the most believably canon-like, beautifully well-written (I wish SJM wrote like this tbh), mind-blowing and heart-wrenching fics I've ever read, so it's got to be included - and I just cannot fathom why it doesn't have more LOVE. I'm including this in this "at the moment" list because I recently re-read it, and because she does have an on-going multi-chapter fic "Shining Through That Moonless Night", which is a continuation of Resilience; and which I'm honestly still holding out on for the same reasons I mentioned above. But I've read 1 chapter and already know I'm going to love it and probably bawl my eyes out for loving it, so I'm trying to wait patiently (while mentally preparing myself) for a couple of chapters more before I devour it...

As for one-shots, the most recent one I read (last night) was @viridianevergarden's The Comforts of the Night (Elriel)

I think they mentioned it's their first writing in a while, but I thought it was beautifully written and felt very Sleeping Beauty-ish and Az-angsty, so I'm hoping there's a continuation or that we get to see more of their writing in the future!

Now, I don't want any pressure at all to the above-mentioned on their writing journeys, but I really hope for more people to find them and GO and send them some very well-deserved love, so we see more of their writing and thank them for blessing us with their beautiful talent(s), humility, and overall loveliness! ✨️

Is it just me, or is anyone else gently annoyed that the dramione shippers seem to have taken over the paper crane as a symbol? Because of Manacled, I think?? And I understand that paper cranes don’t BELONG to any ship, certainly not to any whyte ppl (myself included!)

It’s just… the peace crane is so good, and Draco’s silly lil’ Harry art is so good. See this gif for reference!!

I want a drarry tattoo but people will think I’m a dramione shipper if I get a paper crane tattoo which would be frankly INTOLERABLE lol (sorry to the dramione shippers; it’s not you, it’s me)

I really try to respond to every comment as it sometimes leads to fun discussions and even friendships. I also like letting readers know I appreciate their support. I haven't had the time or energy to do this with my recent WIP and I miss that aspect of fandom.

A Safe, Devoted Darkness. I love that little spooky story so much, it is my creepy goth child.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Almost all of them do have happy endings, but the one that makes me want to cry and vomit rainbows the most is Remain Nameless.

Sure do! 😎

I do and I write all kinds, whatever the story calls for. I tend to write more emotional smut, where the sex scenes are furthering the characters' arcs/relationships but i've also written hate sex and pure kink.

Hello friends. Yet another post on a topic literally no one here signed up for but the blog is about my hyperfixation of the month so here we are

I have been reading dramione. I know in my last post i said i was ki da over dramione after a couple of fics because i find the pairing too toxic but i only kinda lied because i have just reread the like 4 dramione fics i found and liked and now i will review them. Technically i have read/started more than 4 but i won't be commenting on fics i didn't like because that isn't fair to the writers.

The first one was manacled. Which i know what a fucking reintroduction to the fandom. But i am no young newbie. I used to read and rewrite A LOT of harry potter fic and while its still fuck jk rowling, she doesn't financially benefit from fic and i heard years ago that she doesn't like fic so. I hope its all a big fuck u to her.

Anyway, manacled. Wow!!! What the fuck???? It has lived rent free in my head ever since. I literally cannot stop thinking about it. If ever i reentered the harry potter fic world let it be known that it would be so i can write fanfic of this fanfic. A couple points - manacled is kinda overly long and would benefit from an editor/beta reader, but I heard senlinyu wrote it on her phone while nursing a baby and just???? Idk what her day job is, but that woman needs to be doing creative writing mfas, writers workshops, residencies, whatever. That is extraordinary creative talent.

I think the first part with hermione in the manor was a bit overly long and too torture porn ish. A lot of the scenes bordered into the unnecessarily gratituous. But overall, it was well plotted, well written, and gut wrenching. The last section takes my breath away

The second fic i read was Remain Nameless. And while i kinda don't love smut (it makes me a little uncomfy) i think remain nameless is a perfrct example of fanfic as a genre. Within fic, there are obviously genres, but there are stylistic elements and things that I think makes fanfiction a genre in itself. Remain Nameless is an exploration of character that goes beyond the confines of conventional or traditionally publish-able story structure. It is too long, too drawn out, too indulgent to be a traditionally published story. If i swap out the names and details in Manacled or Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in love (up next) out, its a probably close to a stand alone novel, but Remain Nameless relies on you knowing and already caring about Draco and Hermione. I don't mean that disparagingly at all, I just think sometimes people don't realize that fanfic should be different from traditionally published novels and that is a benefit of the genre. I think Remain Nameless is great. Its an indulgent, fluffy read that takes two broken people and slowly puts them back together again. Its like a hug in book format.

My next one is DMATMOOBIL!! I loved this one. And the author??? You cannot convince me that this fic was not written by someone with literal years of publishing experience in contemporary romance. No way. Its too good. Not just in a good writing way. Manacled is good in an unfiltered, raw talent way, but DMATMOOBIL is polished. The plot is perfectly structured and then each chapter within that is perfectly structured. I loved it. It wad witty, funny, heartfelt, and exciting. Not sure what more I can say about it. It reads like published fiction both in its polish and readability, and I think of all the fics I read has the best worldbuilding. It is truly exciting to read about the possibilities of magical and muggle science colliding in this book and bringing their world to the 21st century.

The last fic i read was Green Light by SereneMusafir. I thought it was so good but would benefit from being split into two maybe even three books. Green Light features a journalist coming to interview Draco many years after the events of the book, so that kinda complicates splitting it up, but as it stands, the story parts are too vast and thematically disparate to be one book. The first part has Draco and Hermione on an expedition in the desert to find a archeological myth and the writing is extraoridinary. Its poetic and cinematic. But I think at times it all tries to do too much. Like I said, the whole thing needs to be split up but each chapter also needs to be a bit shorter. Again, I don't mean cutting content, but rather restructuring. As it is, I read an incredible scene, but then there's like 5 more scenes of something else, and by the time I'm at the end of the chapter, I've kinda forgotten what amazing prose I read earlier on. Things get lost in this way. Beautiful passages buried.

I think two or three books would also allow each thematic section to be explored better. Idk i thought about this one a lot. I likely will not reread Green Light the way I have reread the others on this list, but other than Manacled, it is the one I think about most. Its the most ambitious plot wise and it kinda got lost in that ambition but I think it has so much potential and was over all very good.

Anyway. That is the end to this book review no one asked for. I will likely not be reading more dramione. So here ends that brief of excellent phase.

So this is the first fanfiction story I’ve read that I’ve decided to count towards my reading goals. I am a huge fan of the characters of both Draco Malfoy and Hermione Granger. And being a slytherin myself who has had to deal with the misguided thoughts about all slytherin being bad I love a good fanfiction that shows Draco and his slytherin family as pure sweethearts. Plus in my opinion a relationship between Hermione and Draco has always shown more potential than one of Hermione and Ron or Draco and __. This story was my first that has Hermione on the “dark side” and to be honest I kinda loved it. Though I know that her character would only do that if absolutely necessary to save those she loved - like in this book. Still badass dark Hermione definitely gave me some bi panic here and there. I look forward to not only more by this author but more Dramione fanfictions to come this year. ✨

oh god. I feel like I need to tell how my LITTLE SISTER found my smutty-ish Dramione fanfics years ago (I was 13 okay)

So I add this stupid habits on writing on notebooks, right? And I also used to share a room with my sister, which included the closest. So here I was 13 and writing smutty fanfics and I obviously knew nothing about sex so it was probably (it's sure was) extra bad. ANYWAY

I hid the notebooks under my clothes in the closet. But my sister has always been a curious little bitch (it's affectionate) (really I love her). And she got through my stuff. I didn't know it until one day THE HORROR!

I'm being a nasty big sister because that's what you do right. And she just goes "better be nice or I'll tell everyone about *fanfic name* or *another fanfic name*. Or THE TWILIGHT ONES"

I burned them all after that and deleted the blogs they were on.

We're 25 & 23 now and she STILL brings it up when I annoy her 💀 IN FRONT OF OUR OTHER SIBLINGS
