Ross Hates This (a Ross Gaines x Joseph Lisgoe fanfic)
It feels like it's been a while since I posted here, that won't do!
Also, there are three references to Buffy scenes in this. I haven't watched the show, but Spike is both really cool and very Lisgoe-coded
CONTENT WARNINGS: Making out and Gainsgoe get thrown about (it's OK they like it)
Ross hates Lisgoe more than almost anything else (except maybe Pauline). That isn’t surprising, anyone that’s seen the two of them can tell that they aren’t the kind of people that become friends
And Ross hates him
He hates his foul mouth. It’s a mystery, honestly, how that man can’t go two sentences without dropping profanity. Does he really have no other way to express himself? A way that’s less aggressive and more sensible. Clearly not, much to Ross’ chagrin
He hates his clothes. Mostly black, leather, denim, sometimes band shirts. His work uniform is similar, but he throws a blazer on to look “professional”. Ross tells himself he’s too old to dress like a wannabe rockstar. They aren’t necessarily skin-tight, but they cling. Wrapping around his body and left every angle, every juncture, well-outlined. Especially when Lisgoe puts one, or both, hands on his hips, pushing his jacket out of the way to expose more of his lean frame
He hates that he smokes. While he doesn’t have an addiction, Ross has watched Lisgoe smoke whenever he’s been in the mood to do so. And, despite having done it the odd few times himself in moments of extreme stress, he thinks it’s nasty. At least Lisgoe has the decency to roll his own cigarettes when he comes over. Nimble fingers spreading tobacco along a thin strip, knuckles shifting as he rolls and his tongue teasing up the side to seal it. Cigarette between his fingers, lips around the end, it’s as if he owns the place. He tilts his head back and sighs gently through slightly parted lips, puffing toxic smoke into the air
His throat is slender
Ross also hates that Lisgoe just asks him to come over out of the blue
Yet he never wants to say no, and he never does. In fact, their time together has steadily started to become more frequent. Again, he never says anything when he receives  an invite. Nor does he turn Lisgoe away when he shows up at his door
Not even when he bangs on the door and, without even saying hello, goes “did you take my lighter?”
“Why would I take your lighter?”
“Because I gave it to you and you never gave it back.”
“And why would you give it to me?”
“Ross, I’m not a fucking convict. I don’t need questioning, just give me back my lighter.”
“I don’t have it!”
Lisgoe barges his way in and starts turning the house inside out for this damn lighter
One that he isn’t going to find at this rate
The lighter that, for reasons he doesn’t care to admit to himself, is currently in Ross’ back pocket
“Tearing my house to pieces won’t get your little zippo back.”
“That little zippo’s going right up your arse if you don’t help me look.”
“For someone that isn’t addicted to smoking, you’re quite attached to that thing.”
“It’s fucking engraved! Cost me 25 quid, I want it back and I know you have it!”
Leaning against the doorway of the living room, Ross folds his arms and watches as Lisgoe starts throwing pillows off the sofa
He’s got such a temper on him... Ross can’t help but chuckle
That’s when Lisgoe’s focus snaps onto him
Damn that man and his hearing
“Is something funny?”
No response
Lisgoe grits his teeth and strides over, standing directly in front of him. His  volume lowers and his voice comes out breathy and sharp
“Where’s my fucking lighter, Ross?”
Ross hates the way his eyes stab through his chest, wringing his insides and pinning him in place
“I don’t have your lighter.”
They don’t stop staring at each other. It’s like Lisgoe is forcing himself into his mind, dragging out every thought
Ross hopes he isn’t, for many reasons
When he tries to walk away, he finds his waist being grabbed tightly, with the palm of Lisgoe’s other hand pressing into the space above his head. Even though there’s only around two inches between them, Lisgoe manages to look down at him
Again. Stillness
Ross has no idea what Lisgoe’s thinking. No idea what he might do. The swirling in his stomach that gives him is one he could really do without
The hand on his hip rips itself away and, before Ross can ask what’s happening, it plunges into his back pocket, groping and rummaging through it
He hates that it makes him gasp softly
He also despises seeing Lisgoe raise his eyebrows, holding up the lighter
“Why would I take your lighter, Joseph?” He mocked “I don’t have it!” He stuffs it back into his own pocket “What the fuck did that achieve then? Wanted to make me look like a twat?”
Ross just looks at him with a steely expression, refusing to let him feel as though he was getting to him
In the silence, Lisgoe’s eyes drag up and down him, then he smiles. As if he has him all worked out
Ross tries to focus on the knot in his stomach, which does more harm than good
“Back pocket.” Lisgoe’s head tilted to the side, speaking in a demeaning tone “Bit slutty, if you ask me.” He put his lighter into his own pocket, then stuck his hand in Ross’, letting his palm rest there “Could’ve gotten a handful-“
“Are you leaving?”
“-unless that’s what you wanted.”
“I said ‘are you leaving’.”
“I will. At some point.”
Ross rodd his eyes with a frustrated tut. His head is muttering about the arrogance of this man when he feels his hips being moved forward, then slammed aggressively into the wall. The groan of pain that followed is cut short by a grab to his chin
“Don’t tut at me.”
Not sure of what else to do in retaliation, Ross just shoves Lisgoe against the other side of the doorway. He instantly finds himself being pushed off, then dragged by the arm and flung against the pillow thrown onto the floor prior
By now, Ross has scrambled onto his back and adjusted his glasses, his eyes dragging up the legs either side of his hips until they meet the smug face of Joseph Lisgoe
If he could speak, he’d tell him... that’s the thing, he knows that he wouldn’t even tell him to leave
Feeling the other man straddle his waist, Ross tried to grab for his hands as they came towards him. They stayed there, scuffling, for a few seconds until Lisgoe managed to grab onto his wrists and slam them into the ground
“Admit it, Ross.”
Again, Ross says nothing. He just stares
“Admit,” Lisgoe lips quirk into a cocky smirk “that you took my £25 lighter and hid it in your back pocket just so I’d touch you.”
“Didn’t expect you to grab for it. Didn’t even expect you to find it.”
That arrogant look doesn’t falter for a moment
“So you just wanted an excuse to see me again.”
“Don’t make me out to be some obsessed teenage girl.”
“Would you rather I treated you like a cheap slut?”
Why now? Why are my insides knotting now?
“You’re a pain in the backside, Joseph, you know that, right?”
“I could be.”
Ross rolls his eyes again, resulting in his chin being grabbed again, then Lisgoe’s hand moving down to hold his throat
He knows he has to hate something about this, but his head is fuzzing and his body’s getting warmer and warmer. So, needless to say, he isn’t thinking as rationally as he’d have liked
“We always end up like this, don’t we?” Lisgoe’s voice becomes enticingly soft “Endless loop, really. You can say you hate me all you want, but we both know where that goes.”
Ross wants to deny it, but he can feel heat tearing through his body and seeding his mind with impure thoughts
“I never said I hated you. I just can’t stand you sometimes. Like now, for example.”
“I know. You can’t stand my swearing, can’t stand my clothes, can’t stand my voice,” he leans down until his lips brush against Ross “can’t stand how good it feels when I touch you, can’t stand when I kiss you so hard you can’t speak afterwards.”
It’s clear as day, what he wants, but Ross would hate to give it to him so quickly. Using his leg to propel himself, he manages to switch their positions and stand up
They stare at each other
Ross heads for the kitchenette, back to Lisgoe as he makes his way at a leisurely pace
Suddenly, he feels the back of his neck being grabbed and his whole body being flung against the surface of it. As he turns around and sits on the counter, Lisgoe’s hand shoves at his chest, pinning him down
“You’re so fucking hot, you know that, right?”
“Out of the blue, don’t you think? ‘Specially after throwing me about like a ragdoll.”
“You’re my favourite toy, what can I say?”
Ross feels a hand hook under his knee and pull his leg up into a bend before travelling to grab his thigh. He wishes his breathy whimper hadn’t given him away so much
“You know, you’re not as tough as you think you are.”
Lisgoe’s eyes narrowed and his head twitched slightly
“S’cuse me?”
“You come in, stomping about like you’re somebody, when we both know you’re not always in control.” He sits up, eyes flicking to Lisgoe’s lips as their breathing intertwines “Could pop you like a champagne bottle, drain you, then watch you shatter.”
Ross watches the way Lisgoe closes his eyes, his jaw tightening as he exhales. When their eyes met again, he runs his tongue along his teeth, pressing his body closer
“And I could snap every bone in your body like twigs and you’d beg me to hurt you just that little bit more.”
Not that he wants to be the one to give in, but the fizzing sensation becomes unbearable and he grabs Lisgoe’s shirt and wrenches him towards him
Their bodies rock together as Ross tries not to let himself get lost in the kiss, something he always finds himself doing
Don’t get distracted by his voice
Don’t get distracted by his lips
Don’t get distracted by his dry wit
His intense eyes
His nimble hands
His strong shoulders
A hand threads through Ross’ hair and another grabs his hip, controlling his movements as the kiss deepens
“Mph... mhm... ... mm-mhm...”
It drives Ross mad, truly insane, the way Lisgoe sounds. His tone is direct, his accent so inexplicably satisfying, but it’s these moments, where it becomes breathy and soft, where his realise how monumentally screwed he was
“Joseph,” his voice was barely above a whisper “this- a-ah... this can’t keep happening.”
“Hm, d’ya wanna stop then?”
Ross answers a little too quickly, but he doesn't care. By now, pretense was pointless
“I’d hate to be kept waiting.”

Can you recommend historicals where the heroine is more like silly? Not that she's stupid or anything just that she does or says things that are funnily awkward
When a Girl Meets an Earl by Elisa Braden immediately comes to mind. The heroine is like, super beautiful and every man wants her, but she's OBSESSED with this stoic Scottish earl. Because he's BIG. Like, she sees him lift another man off the ground by his neck to defend her friend's honor, and she's like "MY GOD. I NEED THAT DICK" and basically sets out to have him. To a hilarious degree. And he's very resistant, lol. But this bitch also doesn't even know he's Scottish until like, they're about to get married (due to her machinations)??? He drops the English accent and uses his natural one to freak her out and she's like "OH. YOU'RE SCOTTISH?" I love her.
Elisa Braden heroines are often kinda silly in general, with some exceptions. The Temptation of a Highlander has a heroine who constantly says accidental double entendres because she's so into the hero. The issue is that they're obviously not alone often? So she usually says them in a public setting? Like "hahaha you could certainly break me in half" and everyone falls silent. The poor girl is nothing but Freudian slips because she's so desperately horny.
Kleypas does a few silly heroines. Beatrix Hathaway definitely comes to mind, though I haven't done my re-listen of Love in the Afternoon yet and I remember literally nothing from that book besides letters. But she's obviously in Tempt Me at Twilight a lot, and the girl is batty. Obsessed with animals, prone to saying weird shit at any given moment. Pandora Ravenel is similar in Devil in Spring. She's really smart and super ambitious, but she's also seen as a little odd. I believe she also has an inner ear thing that makes it difficult for her to dance, so people think she's sillier than she is.
Grace Callaway is great for silly heroines. Olivia from Olivia and The Masked Duke comes to mind. Just hurtling herself into danger, constantly trying to aggressively flirt with her dad's friend who's like "PLEASE. STOP. TEMPTING ME." A true brat. The heroine from The Duke Who Knew Too Much (I think this is Olivia's parents book lol), Emma, is also similar ridic. I shall never forget the scene where she and Alaric are spying on people behind a curtain and she's all *eyebrows eyebrows* and he's like "WHAT???? BITCH NO" but she's already on her knees stuffing his dick into her mouth. Like, she literally does a full chubby bunny "try to cram as much of this thing into your mouth as possible" deal because she has no idea what she's doing and doing it behind a curtain with people in the room seemed like a good idea at the time!!!!
Naturally, Tessa Dare heroines lean towards silly a lot of the time, because her books are hilarious. The heroine from When a Scot Ties the Knot is very smart, but she has anxiety so a lot of people think she's silly, and she's also like? An illustrator who does scientific drawings of nature? And she's desperately trying to catch her lobsters fucking so she can draw lobster sex?
Eleanor from The Duke's Perfect Wife is one of my favorite heroines because she like, refuses to take a moment seriously (until she does). Literally jumps into a carriage with her ex-fiance, with whom she had this incredibly hot, intense relationship, and is all "I HAVE YOUR NUDES". And he just like. Blinks.
Sarah MacLean has a lot of somewhat batty heroines. Imogen from Knockout is really smart, but also legit insane and hilarious, And you have a hero who's just trying to keep up, lol.
Stephanie Laurens heroines are hilarious. I would for sure recommend Scandal's Bride on this front. Like, this woman is BATSHIT and says the funniest things. Again, this is the one I refer to as the hero being like "when that redhead gets freaky it DOES something to me".

How emotionally/socially guarded do you think Izuku is as a character? I've been analyzing him and for some reason, even before the wars he always came across as emotionally guarded to me. Not because he fails to express his emotions or acts mean, but because he often seems...cut off from other characters in a sense. Similar to how All Might is kind, but doesn't seem to be close to anyone in particular. Deku's always kind and protective of others, but with the exception of Todoroki and Katsuki, his relationships seem strangely distant.
To me, it made sense that someone who was socially isolated as a kid the way he was would probably find it hard to be close to others. I've noticed that Deku seems to connect to people easier if they initially disliked him. It dawned on me that since he only gained friends after getting a quirk, subconsciously it would probably be easier to trust people who initially disliked him because he knows they like who he actually is. To me, this helped explain why he's so nice to his friends like Tsuyu and Uraraka but is rarely shown bonding as much with them. Todoroki disliked him heavily at first, and Deku in turn...actually seemed much more receptive to bonding with Shouto as a person. Or at least he is shown hanging out and having more relaxed moments with Shouto. I was wondering what you thought since I care a lot about characterization as a writer and you are good at analyzing things. I've often thought he and Bakugo have far more similarities than people realize, and admittedly Deku being emotionally guarded seemed like a fun parallel to me. I haven't seen many posts that said similarly though, so I wanted to know what someone else thought. Again I could be wrong, but I wasn't sure because people don't tend to analyze Deku as heavily due to his character being more subtle than many others. I've seen people claim Deku is a vanilla character, but to me both he and all might seem like they are walling people out emotionally/socially, which makes them pretty interesting in my eyes. Sorry for the long question!
You’re fine with the long question! And I completely agree with how people don’t really like to analyze Izuku as a character (without having it have to do with either ships or another characters interactions) because of his subtly! I’m probably going to post an absolute monster sized meta just about him in the next few days (hopefully lol) that I’ve been working on for almost a month now.
Anyway, I think the reason he seems so emotionally and socially cut off from other characters is for a few reasons. One, that Izuku hates being vulnerable, two, that Izuku subconsciously isolates himself due to it being his normal, and three, it’s a purposeful writing choice from horikoshi to you.
We’ll start with Izuku’s problems with vulnerability. He absolutely fucking HATES being vulnerable, and it’s probably due to a few things. Quirklessness is a definitive case, because it almost seems like he’s been actively defiant of both his old quirkless identity, and the identity people assigned to him when he was quirkless. He was weak, needed to stay out of the way, and he wasn’t ALLOWED to fulfill his dream.
He was made to feel small in nearly every interaction he had. When Uraraka redefined what his nickname meant it created a separate identity. Suddenly, the “deku that could do nothing” was a person the “deku that does his best” could fall back into again. If he slipped up even once he was a failure. Once again, the deku that could nothing.
It’s both petty and insecurity. He wants to not be anything Katsuki or anyone else ever said he was or would be. He has to be the absolute perfect image of what all might was, and if he isn’t then he’s useless once again.
I also think that Izuku is closer to todoroki because he relates to him a lot more. You know that funny scene where todoroki asks if Izuku is all mights secret love child? Yeah, that was tongue and cheek with how Izuku views himself and all might. It’s also why Izuku is literally screaming at him in their match at the sports festival that it’s “your power not his” because it was 100% projection. Izuku wants to be his own hero and person, but is guarded by his pettiness to become exactly what he said he would be as a kid. Just to prove everyone wrong.
Izuku and Katsuki both have subtle flaws that actually show a lot more into their character. Katsuki is nosy and likes to listen into other peoples business because he wants to be prepared for any outcome. Like if they have blackmail on him, well, he has the same. It’s also SPECIFICALLY with deku like, 90% of the time too so, that says a lot more than I could ever say lmao.
Izuku is emotionally immature and petty due to trauma and defiance. It’s great!
Now, onto the other point, Izuku isolating himself. To be frank, this comes down to Izuku’s vulnerability again, but it really is just not being used to having friends. Everyone in UA is super nice, but changing environment does not change the trauma you experienced.
To be honest with you, I think he actually isolates from everyone. Todoroki, all might, and Katsuki are people he’s slightly more comfortable with (though less so with todoroki compared to Katsuki and all might) but that doesn’t change that izuku has never truly had a support system. He’s had Katsuki and their neighborhood friends when he was younger, along with his mom, but until all might showed up he never really… had anyone. That’s why I really don’t think quirkless Izuku as a hero would’ve worked unless Katsuki was this super supportive person or Izuku had friends. (Like their beta versions) At the very least he would have needed his mom to believe in him.
So, TL;DR, Izuku went through trauma that makes him feel most okay and content when he is mostly alone.
And finally, number three, horikoshi never wanted you to know! Okay, if you’re gonna make a queer story that relies on not looking like a queer story, then it needs a barrier of some kind for a couple of things. MC and the actual love interests thoughts and feelings (Katsuki and Izuku’s thoughts and feelings on each other) and possible vague feelings from the MC and the beard love interest. (Ochako and izuku)
But these all rely on a carefully built, specifically worded, and attentively written ways of tip toeing around the L word. “Closest person” instead of “best friend” or “I just talked to a girl!” And never “I just talked to Uraraka!” It’s never actually personal. Katsuki though? It’s ALWAYS personal. Childhood friend instead of friend, win to save and save to win, etc.
So, the reason why you think Izuku is so separated from his peers emotionally is because, well, he is, but he’s also separated from you, the reader. Which is a phenomenal way of breaking what makes shonen, well, shonen!
I love characterization so so much and I especially love when you can just TELL how much love was put into a character. I definitely think horikoshi at the very least knew a solid amount into psychology and trauma to be able to write him and his other characters (im so sad I didn’t get into all might but maybe I will one day lol)

Hello! Have you watched or are you going to watch the kdrama Begins Youth, which is based on the HYYH universe? I'm curious about your opinion. Personally, I really like it, they chose good actors who really have a lot in common with the bts members, especially the character playing Hosu has the same facial expressions as JHope, he is very convincing. sometimes the scenes are too long and tedious, as are the dialogues, but that's probably the nature of kdramas.
Hi!
No, sorry, I haven't watched it... I've never cared for HYYH era... To me, BTS being characters in their own albums and MVs is just weird? It's like fanfiction, but Hybe profits from it lmao. This is one of the things I don't get about kpop.
I've seen some gifs from the drama, but so far I don't see the similarities between the boys and the characters/actors. But, again, I've only seen a few gifs, mostly of Jikook.
I've been hearing a lot that the actors act like the members though.
And yes, long, flowery dialogue and dramatic crying are kdrama staples.
I was actually thinking - seeing the popularity of HYYH and now this drama - that the way Army interpret some of the dynamics between the members seems to be pretty influenced by HYYH? This is more conjecture than anything, since I'm not that familiar with the BU and became Army in 2019, but half of the fascination with Yoonkook, for example, seems to come from HYYH era. I keep seeing Army talk about BU Yoonkook and the lack of them in the drama, and a lot of Yoonkook moments people talk about are HYYH related.
I know Yoonkook are cute, but I was just thinking that HYYH was really influential in the fandom. But maybe I'm very off base. I don't get the BU at all... And I'm also not accusing you of mixing fantasy with reality or trying to make you feel bad about liking the drama! I just see Army talk about BU a lot.
Unrelated, but on the topic of mixing fantasy with reality, one of the most frustrating things about this fandom is the absurd amount of misinformation from Armys who think a popular account's shitpost or take on a members' words from 10 years ago is the absolute truth. Like, I get that Jungkook had a crush on RM - whether in a hero worship or romantic sense - but it's so ridiculous the way people talk about Namkook! Army reduce most BTS dynamics to stereotypes (with the exception of Jikook who are just ignored lmao) and greatly overhype some popular ships like Sope (imo). I read Jikook fanfiction so I see this all the time. The members and their dynamics are so often reduced to stereotypes and jokes that half the shit on twitter is already fanfiction. We'll never truly know the members, but half of this fandom doesn't even pay attention to actual content.
Sorry for rambling. I wanted to give you a long answer but since I didn't watch the drama I had to make shit up.
Thanks for the ask!

Big Order's Frustratingly Random OVA
Until yesterday, I'd never bothered to look into the "Big Order" OVA.
It was originally a giveaway with a volume of the manga and pre-dates the actual anime series — just like Mirai Nikki/Future Diary's OVA. And also just like Mirai Nikki's own OVA/series and the Big Order anime series that arrived later, it's an Asread production. Given all of those similarities, I thought this would be a case much like Mirai Nikki's OVA. Mirai Nikki's OVA is just an abridged take on the series' Episode 2 with slightly different animation/angles in spots. With that in mind and given all of the similar setup, why would Big Order's OVA contain anything interesting for me? Especially since I didn't even like the Big Order's anime series.
Tumblr media
So yeah, I pulled said OVA up on the Blu-Ray and was greeted with THIS. I was NOT prepared.
"Random Order" is a trippy watch, though I can't say it's not interesting while it's running. It's full of random scenes from the then-upcoming anime (scenes that appear largely identical to the ones used in the finished episodes... barring a few exceptions) as well as a few alternate-reality scenes that have no parallels in the series proper. And weirdest of all? The eventual anime series seems to specifically call back to this OVA during its final episode. I never would've known that if I hadn't just finished watching the series again, but... yeah, there are references in that finale to scenes that ONLY exist in this OVA. Bizarre.
The framing device is that lead protagonist Eiji Hoshimiya — usually, but it might also be Rin or Iyo or Sena at times, depending on the scenes you get — is sitting in a supernatural café while Daisy (she's the mysterious being who grants the characters their "Order" superpowers in response to their wishes, if you didn't know) is waiting for him/her to make their wish. But Eiji-or-whomever is struggling to make a wish because they're totally tripping out, seeing either (A) alternate realities that already exist due to various wishes they made in different timelines OR (B) dream-like illusions of what they might be able to make happen based on wishes they're considering in their minds OR (C) flashes of memories they've already experienced prior to this moment.
Not that I've seen all the scenes in here, mind you, because of course I fucking haven't. After 12 run-throughs that took me back to the above image's first "C" each time, I haven't managed to land on that magical "11" even ONCE, so I've yet to see ANY of the three random outcomes that lead ot the long credits. But I've sure seen plenty of outcomes that lead to the short credits...
I'm watching this Blu-Ray on a PS4, and I can't find any way to skip around various titles/chapters on the disk via the PS4's interface. I also can't find that anyone has uploaded the entire complicated series of options; this thing is MUCH too complex and niche for people to bother. It seems like the existing uploads only contain the mandated first 23-or-so minutes, completely ignoring all the optional variations thereafter.
As for the unique scenes in this OVA? Out of what I've seen, there don't appear to be many. But if nothing else, any die-hard Eiji/Rin shippers who might be out there will definitely get their juice during those first 23 minutes.
Tumblr media
Yup, it turns out these are straight-up having sex in whatever reality/dream/memory we see during the outset of the OVA. So there's plenty of flirting, kissing, seductive talk, etc. And... I guess that flower in her hair never comes off?

Dude, I once binged two weeks of shark documentaries. I don't know why, honestly. Good background noise? Pure interest? It wasn't even my first time doing a similar thing but this year was a lot more prominent than prior. Despite the legitimate days worth of information I consumed, I only tell you a few things without having to fact check myself again. 1) Sharks don't make noise, unlike how some horror films want you to think, except they can "bark" by expelling water out its gills really fast. 2) So the Bull Shark is the easiest to piss off - they are very temperamental, while the Tiger Shark is the trash disposal of the sea - will literally eat anything including tires, and The Great White is often blamed for both their attacks more than their own regular attack percentage. Why? Mainly due to the movie Jaws that almost made the Great White instinct due to a 'man hunt' like scenario on the poor species. Which that book/movie was inspired by a true incident of a Bull Shark being found up river that attacked some kids. Leads me to 3) Bull Sharks are one of the very few that can alter between salt water and fresh water for a short period of time and have been found 500 + miles inland - this includes their choice of birthing grounds too. Since baby Bull Sharks will flourish better in mixed waters (where river mouths meet ocean). The only thing they have to worry about are Crocodiles —
4) Ummm, what else can I pull out of my head...OH! Back on the Jaw's bit, the couple who helped film some of the scenes were actually historical in their own way. Especially the lady, Valerie Taylor. There is a whole documentary based around her and I highly recommend it! She is a leading factor to a lot of marine studies back in the day — adamant on showing proof that sharks don't want to eat you. Often free diving with them! This is waaaay before 1980s, mind you. So she was asked to assist in the Jaws film, and was proud of it at the time. That is until all the fear mongering happened, hunting sprees, and just bad repetition toward sharks. Afterward her and her husband worked hard on changing it. Loads of talk shows, videos of her with sharks, doing fundraisers/charities/donations to shark studies and safe havens. Seriously, if you haven't seen the document "Playing with Sharks", it is amazing and I can't recommend it enough!
OH HELL YEAH! I love shark facts thank you! tiger sharks are my favorite so I didn't know all that about bull sharks but I'm gonna be thinking about sharks vs crocodiles at work all day I can feel it
I'll also definitely check out that documentary. I haven't sat down and watched a documentary in a long while but I'm crocheting my sister-in-law some pajama pants so this is the prime time to fill up on shark documentaries thank you!

icl, i kinda miss Alanza. i know it’s an unpopular opinion but honestly i don’t mind her. she was in one of the assignments in the new year 7 chapter and it was nice to see her again even if it wasn’t in the main story. it’s almost like she doesn’t even exist outside astronomy lessons most of the time like i’ve literally seen a few ppl saying they forgot she even existed and honestly i can’t entirely blame them at this point. i don’t know why they even added Alanza in the first place, i like her enough but she doesn’t really do anything anymore. they never bothered to explain why she was staying an extra year either. maybe they originally had bigger plans for her but Alanza didn’t turn out to be as popular as they hoped so they changed their minds or something.
Y'know, I am convinced more than ever that there was some sort of alternative plan for Alanza's character, whatever it might have been, that was ultimately scrapped for whatever reason. Like you said, it's not at all clear why they added her to begin with, and while they may have just kept her around for mechanical reasons or to appease fans...they conspicuously never gave a reason for why she stayed. All it would have taken is one throwaway line.
There's something more. I've been leveling Alanza up recently. (Looking forward to donning those kickass robes.) and one of the questions that I constantly roll when I'm having butterbeer with her is "Who's necklace did I give you?" The correct answer being, her Grandmother's. There's just one problem with that. Alanza has never given MC a necklace. Not her grandma's or anyone else's. Maybe there's just some quest that I missed or haven't unlocked yet, maybe it's a quest in the code that never got released. (Think of Jae's cooking quest, it was in limbo for ages.) But if there is, I've not heard about it. And even if the quest exists, the fact is, my file has never completed it. So this bit of trivia doesn't make any sense. At the rate the game is going, I don't see us getting a necklace from Alanza either, outside of maybe in a TLSQ.
I haven't forgotten Alanza existed, but I frankly have no idea how to work her into my canon. Her arrival in Year 6 is something that I find difficult to describe as anything but filler. I don't want to think of it as filler, but similar to Victor, her character just hasn't really contributed to the plot much at all. I guess she recruited the Weird Sisters? But MC already knew them, Alanza wasn't necessary. I guess she told MC that Rakepick smelled like cinnamon? As if that ended up mattering, or did anything apart from raise more questions. I've said it a million times, but the story grinded to a halt to introduce Alanza, and then the universe seemed to conspire to ensure she found out about The Circle of Khanna...only...then she didn't join.
Am I alone in thinking that Alanza presented herself differently in Y6CH22 then she did for...the rest of the game, pretty much? In her initial appearance, she gave the impression of being the adventurous type. For crying out loud, she got lost in the jungle for a week. She lived on ants and rain! And then, after the player is forced to let her in on the secret organization that she was so curious about...she doesn't want to get involved? I know first impressions aren't everything, and any character can have their own cases of early installment weirdness, but...I'm not the only one who's noticed this, right? Alanza became significantly calmer and less inclined toward danger after her initial introduction. To the point that I noticed it, again and again.
Then there's her affinity for creatures, which they make such a big deal about, that I assume it has to be a Checkov's Wand. The scene where she sits in Rowan's seat, obliviously. Just a harsh moment for MC, or...is it supposed to mean something more? I'd suspect it might, except...Alanza has hardly done anything in Year 7, and I'm just left wondering...what exactly is her home situation like. I mean, she'll be seventeen by this point, so her parents can't make her come home, but...why wouldn't she want to? Doesn't she miss them? Did something happen there? I want to know, gosh dangit.
EDIT: I was wrong about the necklace, she does technically give us one, but it's still a huge error.

hey, sorry for bothering you but i'm seriously considering starting to draw digitally (i have never drawn before except for when i was a little kid). i love your art so i was thinking if you would maybe give me some tips? about anything, really. like if i should at first just purely focus on the basis and nothing else, graphic program recommendations (preferably free or cheap ones since i'm not 100% sure if i'll actually keep drawing long-term), etc.
just anything that you think would be useful for me.
thank you a lot in advance
OOOH BOY where to start (。・//ε//・。)
it partly depends on whether you already know how to draw a little. I'm not saying you have to be good at it, but if you've already put some work into your traditional skillz it's going to help. oh also, if you do have some tradart background and you switch to digital? be prepared because with your first few drawings it's either going to be the best you've ever drawn or it's gonna feel like you're picking up a pencil for the first time in your life all over again. both of these stages are temporary, and generally settle on an equal middle ground in a few days, at least until your hand's gotten used to the medium
my FIRST chance at digital art? drawing with my finger on my phone. it's far from ideal, as you can probably guess, but it got the job done while i played around with the things only digital art could do. the next step, still on mobile devices, was getting one of those pens for writing on your phone. no pressure sensitivity, accuracy was still shite, but it did allow me to draw in a way that was more similar to how i drew traditionally. try to check if your device has compatibility with digital pen accessories, you might get one that's a bit more sophisticated than literally just a tube with a flat nib that works through normal touchscreen. i bought the sketchbook app back when it was still property of Autodesk. I haven't updated it since, so i have no idea how the new company is handling it, but it was a pretty solid app when i used it
if you already want to go full drawing tablet then DO NOT, for the love of god, DO NOT buy a screen tablet. i promise, drawing on a screenless one is in no way harder or more unnatural, you hand-eye coordination adapts to it very quickly. they're super cheap compared to screen tablets, more portable and better suited for a beginner. my first serius tablet was a wacom intuos back in the time when wacom partnered with clip studio paint, which was a DEAL because now i have a lifetime access to it despite having bought the tablet years ago and the PRO version of the program costing like 50 fucking dollars. definitely keep your eyes peeled if they do anything like that again because it's very much worth it, but if they don't you can also choose a cheaper brand. fuck wacom, go small corp.
for pc/laptop art programs your best bet in the open source scene is 100% krita. it has a couple of unique settings that make it weird to draw on for people who are used to "standard" professional art programs (which is the reason I don't go back to it anymore), but if you have no experience with any other art program, then absolutely go check it out, it won't be an issue. it's got a thriving community that keeps updating and adding stuff, so they're not gonna drop you off out of nowhere. as for the drawing itself? once again that's gonna depend on where in your art journey you are. it's been wayy too long for me to remember good videos for absolute beginners, but if you've got some of the bases down then proko and sinix design are some of the best teachers i can recommend wholeheartedly. i do have a couple more people on YouTube in mind, but I haven't seen their work in a while, so i wouldn't wanna risk sending you in the wrong direction.
one final tip that's worked out very well for me. y'know what's one of the best things you can watch? drawfee. animator vs cartoonist. pros animating in gartic phone. not only because karina and julia are the funniest motherfuckers on earth, but because seeing people's drawing process in real time (coupled with the sense of companionship of watching a group of friends have fun for your entertainment) actually puts you in the mindset to draw yourself and lets you study their work in a way that simply viewing the finished product never could.
trace trace trace, trace references, trace photos, trace art you like (but don't post it) and do it smartly ie try to figure out WHAT you're tracing, the shapes you're actually putting on paper and how they interact with one another and their environment. take your time, experiment with different techniques, take a break when you need to, watch your neck and back posture, draw from your your shoulders, not your wrist, those 30s "do this and this and this to draw this thing" style tutorials that don't explain the thought process behind those passages are a scam so fuck em, make mistakes make SO MANY MISTAKES, then learn from them, grow from them and make some more.
oh, and have fun, of course.
welcome to art :D

How it’d be to watch animes with them
A/N: While i’m working on my Mikasa x reader royal au, this little idea came to my mind. I tried to put the links when i mentioned a specific scene and speak a little about the anime in case you don’t know it.  So here it’s:
Warnings: Me exposing my otaku self, mentions of 18+ animes (Not hentais)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eren -  Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen (13+)
A / N: The main characters like each other, but none wants to confess because being the person who takes the first step would also represent being the defeated person. The anime develops in a series of plans that both elaborate to make the other confess their love.
Warnings: None
It was his idea to watch an anime together since the two of you liked it a lot. You saw no harm and agreed to go to sleep with your boyfriend on Friday night. So, you would have the dawn and the weekend to see everything.
“We could watch One piece! Everybody likes"
“In three days ?! We will not finish even if we do not take breaks ”
"Naruto then?"
“Haven't you seen it all five times or more?
"But it is a classic!"
"It is also too long!"
He would sulk when he saw you reject each of his suggestions for being too big animes. The truth was, he was trying to convince you to stay longer. After much searching in the catalog, you choose to watch a short comedy of 12 episodes.
Biggest mistake ever
Eren is already annoying by nature, and after watching Kaguya-sama's two seasons he would spend the day and night trying to get you to confess to him EVEN IF YOU'VE BEEN IN LOVE FOR TWO YEARS AND HE HAS BEEN THE FIRST TO DECLARE. HIT HIM, PLEASE.
"Do you think that using such a low trick will make me give in?"
“Eren, I just got out of the shower. What trick? Wear an outfit? ”
“Showing off your skin won't make you win”
If you wanted to play with him, great. You are going to spend the day in this little game until he gets tired and just hugs you or something because he can't spend a lot of time without touching you. But if you didn't want to, just you could use that touchy side of him against him too.
"Maybe I shouldn't show you anything else then"
"Yes, of course, do- Wait what?"
"You heard"
“NO, BABE! YOU WON! I CONFESS! I LOVE YOU"
Watching anime with him would be quite an experience. For being very verbal, Eren would be the type of person who doesn't shut up watching anything. Especially, something that makes him laugh. You would see him laughing out loud and throwing himself back on the couch or on you, whether you were with him or not. You may even complain, but it would be fun to see him react to everything as immediately and naturally as an unfiltered child.
He will sing ALL the openings for the rest of the days around the house until you are humming some without realizing it.
For some reason, can I imagine him doing Chika dance ?? Yes, please film this big bear dancing like a little girl.
Tumblr media
Levi - Death parade
A / N: Do you want to cry and hurt yourself? This is the right place. Death Parade is a story about what happens after death. The characters are sent to mysterious bars where they will be judged to decide the fate of the souls themselves. (18+)
Warnings: Suicide, depressive themes, mentions of rape and domestic violence
I don't see Levi watching many animes. In fact, I don't see him watching much anything at all. He would be the type of person who can't spend a lot of time in front of the television without feeling like he's wasting time. Which would result in a very selective and demanding taste.
He would always read the reviews about the film, and after watching it, he would make his own. Ever. No exceptions. Unlike Impossible-to-be-quiet-Eren, Levi would be silent to be able to capture and understand all the details. This is interesting because getting his attention is a difficult task. But once it's done, he is 100% focused on the story and immersed in the characters.
So, after reading about it, he would agree to watch Death Parade with you.
He would have low expectations at first, and if the anime failed to hold his very difficult attention in three episodes, he wouldn't even try with the rest.
So when in the first episode, all suspense and doubts left to the viewer entered Ackerman's head, he would finish the other 11 without realizing it.
As a rational person, he would love things that make him think and reflect on the proposed theme. In the case: Life and death.
For some reason, I imagine him as someone who would like to study and read philosophy as a hobby and that he would love Nietzsche? So, you could expect deep conversations after each episode.
But without any arrogance, humanity's strongest soldier might not be the most talkative man in humanity, but surely when he opened his mouth to it, it wouldn’t be to show himself off with something that he knows and you don’t. On the contrary, he would be more than happy to explain if you asked and added your opinion.
He wouldn't cry, but he would be touched by the way the emotions were shown and created in the characters.
He would probably see the scene where Decim cries more than once for being impressed with how the pain of a character who is supposedly not flesh and blood is expressed so well.
And after the anime is over, you would always see him listening to the music of the ice skating scene around the house while doing something.
When you were finished watching everything, you would talk again about the anime. You lying on his chest and he touching his hair, smelling him.
"Do you believe in reincarnation, Levi?"
“If so, I wouldn't go back to this shit a second time. No matter what they offered me ”
"Levi!"
"Unless it was to have you again"
“What a cliché” He would roll his eyes after hearing your response “But I like clichés”
Again, he wouldn't cry, but he would be thinking about how ephemeral things can be, including being alive. Then you can expect a more touchy Levi for a few days.
Tumblr media
Jean - Banana Fish
N / A: Another one to cry and get hurt. Banana Fish is way more than just a story about one character just is hard to define. So in case, you didn’t watch it, here’s the trailer. (18+)
warnings: pedophilia, rape, violence, drugs, your heart being destroyed
You know that guy who says that no yaoi is good, it's just a way to feed a bunch of fujoshi and stuff like that? Jean. It's him. I just know it. So when you suggested Banana Fish and said it was a BL / yaoi, he would probably laugh and ignore the idea.
But after insisting a little and showing him the many compliments that both the anime and the manga received, he would accept.
At first, he wouldn't pay much attention. He really thought it would be just another bad anime. But by the end of the first episode, he would be too involved in the story to stop.
I think he would love crime novels for the same reason that Levi: To think. Try to find out how things are going to end and pick up any clues that the author has left about the ending. So the plot would hold him so much because he would make a ton of theories about the end.
He will ship Ash and Eiji with all his soul. I mean, how can he not ship? To see an anime in which the physical touch between the couple doesn't really happen and still builds a well-developed and healthy relationship would be a new experience for him.
Jean is somewhat similar to Eren in this respect. So you can expect to see him huffing in anger, cursing one of the characters, throwing a pillow away, or using it to hide a tear or two that he would let go of you. The kind of person who gets emotionally involved with the things he watches.
He would cry an entire river after watching the last episode and deny it later.
“I was not crying. The cushion fabric made my eyes itch a lot ”
Show him again and he will cry the same amount and intensity
Tumblr media
Armin - Haikyuu
A / N: Considering all the texts on Tumblr for haikyuu characters, I’m pretty sure you know what anime it’s lol (10+)
Armin is an otaku with a license card and no one can change my mind. He would probably start watching it as a child. So, his first animes would be everyone's classics: Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, Bleach, etc.
So it would be normal that as the vast majority, he would continue to have a preference for shounen when he grew up. So it would be your idea to see Haikyuu.
He would have low expectations because he thought it would be just another anime with cute characters for everyone to be thirsty as an inverted harem. And also because the synopsis does not create a strong impression, especially for those who consume shounen daily.
"So we are just gonna see a little boy trying to catch a ball?"
“It's gonna be good! Everyone is talking about it now ”
"Does he have some superpower?"
"No"
"Something scary?"
"Armin, just give a chance!"
He would like it. Did I say he would like it? Because he would love it. The atmosphere created and well developed with such a simple plot would hold his attention well. (Is it possible to dislike Hinata in the first episode?)
It would be a great anime for him to watch because 1. It is different from what he usually sees. Unlike shounen, Haikyuu deals only with real and tangible scenarios. Of course, still with that touch of anime, but it is very easy to recognize yourself in the characters and learn from them and therefore reflect on yourself as well.
It would be great to make him think about his own insecurities and how most of them were inside his head.
He would be so immersed in the anime universe that he would have to pause the game scenes because he would be too nervous waiting for the ball to fall.
You will probably see him taking a deep breath in each drawing scene of the characters and see him truly cheering for the team as if it were a real national game.
More than that, you will see his eyes full of tears when Yamaguchi hit the serve in the match against Aoba johsai.
In fact, Yamaguchi would be his favorite character. No discussions.
"I said it would be good"
"Shut up"
"Make me"
Tumblr media
Mikasa - Heaven’s official blessing
A / N: I'm going to leave the trailer here because I don't know how to define it very well. It's a novel, but the story doesn't focus ONLY on that. (14+)
Okay, you didn't suggest. She did not suggest. So how do you end up watching together? You catch her watching when you come home by surprise lol
Until then, you would know that she watched some anime, but nothing romantic. Never. In fact, that was her little secret.
Although common sense is that Mikasa would be cold even in a modern au (and I agree in parts). I think she would be the type of person who loves to see the sweetest and softest things to melt alone on the couch without anyone seeing. A moment for herself and a part of her that she would not show to anyone.
You would already know about her romantic side, but seeing her under the covers sighing while watching the Netflix special episode is a totally different story.
Please don’t mock her!!. She would be red enough by the time she was discovered.
When she was less shy, she would ask if you want to watch with her. She would say she saw no problem watching it with you again since doing it with you would be a different experience.
If you accept, you would spend the rest of the night in the room sharing a blanket and absorbing the soft atmosphere, the soundtrack, and the Chinese culture so present in history.
She would not speak a lot because she was paying attention, but she would hug you all the time. In the romantic scenes, she would tighten her arms around you a little and sometimes left a kiss on your shoulder.
I think she could relate to Hua Cheng's way of loving. He is always there to protect, care for and see his lover even if sometimes Xie Lian doesn't even know.
And that is what she wants to show you, that more than a girlfriend, she is also someone you can count on.
Days later, you will see her reading the rest of the work around the house because she couldn't stand to wait for a second season.
And later, SURELY melting and vibrating while watching Mo Dao Zu Shi.

Idk completely why, no matter how many times I read the books, I always feel that the notes in Snape's book were actually written by Lily, and not Severus. I have some minor supporting theories but other than that no real reason to think this way. For starters, a lot of the tips do look like they are written to someone and not just notes for the self. The larger reason is that the handwriting is mentioned several times to be effeminate. The handwriting is described in a way to make me think it's very distinctive and should be identifiable. It wouldn't be unreasonable at all to expect the golden trio to recognize Snape's handwriting, given they've now had 5 years of the man marking their essays, leaving notes on homework, and writing on the board. Even at approximately 15 years from the time of writing, Snape's handwriting wouldn't have changed so much that it's indistinguishable. Especially for Hermione who just kinda Does That. But as no one has any idea of Lily's handwriting at the time, that makes more sense to me that they wouldn't recognize it at all. It also makes more sense to me for why Snape would keep the book after all these years. If it was full of Lily's notes and advice, he'd be more likely to want to hold onto it, whereas I can't really see someone holding onto their old textbook for fifteen years, unless it's something lost in like an attic, but in this instance Snape would have had to have held onto it deliberately for it to end up out of his home and into his office six years later.(I believe he started working at hogwarts at 21, right?) He would have had to deliberately pack it into his belongings, and why would someone carry along an old textbook? Oh! And Slughorn calls Lily a potions prodigy, doesn't he? He commends snape for his skill but Lily was the natural at potions. If snape was the one correcting the book, it would stand to reason that he would be the prodigy!(I may be mixed up at this point, I haven't read HPB in years) Regardless, it just makes more sense to me for the notes to have been written to Severus from Lily, even if sectumsempra was created by Snape.
I believe this one is also from you Nonny:
Oh this is the HBP anon I just wanna make clear that I feel Snape's feelings towards Lily are 100% platonic, but didn't initially feel that was relevant to what I was saying.
Hey Nonny,
Sorry for being so late in answering you - not been around much these last few days. I hope you will forgive me :)
There are a lot of theories about Snape’s Potions book (the dumbest being that this was James’ book *facepalm*), I personally I’m 100% convinced that those are indeed Snape’s notes. To address your clues about them being from Lily, here are my thoughts:
- have you ever written a journal? We do tend to write to someone in them, it’s the same here since it seems that the notes are way more than just potions tips and corrections going by Harry’s attachment to the Prince;
- handwriting has no gender, it’s a silly notion (this is coming from someone who was a little girl with a horribly messy handwriting). Also, I don’t know about you but if you compare my highschool notes to anything I handwrite today you wouldn’t be able to recognize it either. In particular if you were to compare notes cramped in the margin of a book and intended only for myself to something where I would put up way more effort like writing on a board for other people;
- About him keeping the book for that long, it does make sense since it’s full of experimental notes. I still have some chemistry notes from my Uni days that I kept even after my PhD because it was useful. It’s the same for Snape here I think, especially since we never hear about any post highschool education in the wizarding world. There is also the possibility, since it was found among other old potions books, that Hogwarts keep old books to lend to students in need and Snapes’s happened to be among these old books;
- Now, about Slughorn, you need to take some things into account. First, when we see him talking about Lily’s potions skills, it’s always to Harry. It makes sense that for an orphan hearing about his mother is way more relevant in that context than his hated potion professor, even if the latter was equally good or even better. Add to this that Lily was pretty and popular while Snape was dirty poor and an oddball and it’s not difficult to imagine old Sluggy preferring Lily to Severus even if their skills were equals. Since I already did some dig up in the books about that specific topic, allow me to quote myself here:
I dug up my old copy of HBP in order to see exactly what Slughorn had to say about Snape’s abilities at Potions and it is cementing my first take that Severus was indeed the exceptional student while Lily was “just” very good.
This is from the chapter “The Unbreakable Vow” in HBP, the scene during the Slug Club where Slughorn is praising Harry’s skills to Trelawney just before Snape appears:
‘But I don’t think I’ve ever known such a natural at Potions!’ said Slughorn, regarding Harry with a fond, if bloodshot, eye. ‘Instinctive, you know — like his mother! I’ve only ever taught a few with this kind of ability, I can tell you that , Sybill — why, even Severus –’
That last bit clearly illustrate for me that for Slughorn, there were a handful of very good instinctive students – Like Lily –, and then Severus Snape above them.
And a little bit further, while raving about Harry’s Draught of the Living Death to Snape himself:
‘You should have seen what he gave me, first lesson, the Draught of the Living Death – never had a student produce finer on a first attempt, I don’t think even you, Severus –’
Again, it sounds as if Severus Snape was, until Harry, the unchallenged best student Slughorn ever had.
So you see, for me, it’s Snape’s book, it’s Snape’s nickname (I would pay to see his adult self cringe hard at his ridiculous teenage nickname tbh) and it’s definitely Snape’s notes.
It’s also very important that those are indeed from Severus Snape from a narrative point of view. The connection Harry felt, his deep empathy for the Prince coupled with how good he suddenly was in Potions under his tutelage is so important:
- it shows how similar Harry and Snape are despite their unfortunate hatred, a parallel (along with Voldemort), that is pointed out several times in the books (the lost boys who call Hogwarts “home”);
- it shows that Harry, while looking like James, is indeed more like Lily in nature and felt instantly deeply connected with young Severus, they could have been best friends;
- Harry’s relationship with the Prince indeed parallels Lily’s relationship with Severus: a deep connection of true kinship, a fascination deep fried in a thirst for knowledge, a visceral feeling of closeness, and then: betrayal.
- it shows that, despite the mean professor persona, Snape could have been an excellent teacher to Harry, if only he could have let go of his bitterness;
- it’s important because it’s a rare window into the true Severus Snape, not an act he’s putting up for the world to see. It was the first clue about his true nature and it’s very interesting that it was given to us just before Snape killed Dumbledore, apparently casting him as evil in the eyes of Harry and by extension the reader.
Here it is friend, I hope I could convince you and if not, it’s ok, it was a fun discussion. Thank you for the ask.

twisted wonderland theories part 3 : Opening explanation and parallels
Well well , hope you guys enjoyed reading the previous two parts of twst theories so far
Anyways , this is the third part . I decided to go through the opening and original disney animations and also black Butler anime references one more time so this is the combination of all I've found this time , together with some stuff you might've missed
Twst's official opening was pretty mysterious and is most likely giving us hints of the upcoming adventures during the storyline . Well here's the link to opening with eng sub and also the summary of the main character references that were given to us:
youtube
Tumblr media
1) Ace and Deuce's rivalship : We talked about this one a lot back in (part 2) so let's skip this one
2) Leona's sadness and pain : Leona's tearn falling to the ground and the Ruggie and Jack coming for him ; that's just how he always is : mentally sad and broken with a horribly frustrating past , but will avoid expressing himself and letting anyone see his pain anyway . Not really weird that these two are always around him , Leona does really need to be looked after ...
3) Azul's seek of power : He just looked...mad in this scene . Ursula's shadow on his fave and that creepy smile totally freaks anyone out. It really explains how great his desire of power is . His neglected self in the childhood and pretty poor talent got him to this point...
4) Jamil's cold and kinda confused self : Well this one isn't really clear yet since ch 4 isn't out . But perhaps depression has this guy... spending his whole life serving the the nasty Kalim he might've grown the same characteristics as Jafar , who was so long sick of being the second one in everything . But still his ideal of life is much different from Jafar's . We saw him hypnotizing Kalim in order to make him force students to do better at school . He's trying his best to leave up to his promises as the vice dorm leader but still , having the nasty Kalim as the dorm itself is making it a lot harder for him so he's got no choice but to hypnotize him...
5) Idia's severe anxiety and his protectiveness toward Ortho : This one was mentioned in s rather old re blog but here e go again : Well with how the rumors of the "cursed Shroud family" , Idia's anti-society self might be a bit explained . This guy's overblot is surely going to be EPIC ... we just know very few about him and yet that's more than enough for him to overblot at once . Also the mention of the process of bringing Ortho back to life was a bad hit...His family curse might've been the reason of whatever thst has happened to Ortho
6) Vil's anger of not being the fairest and breaking the mirror: This one's been pointed out a lot . His anger being the same as evil queen's and also the fear of him actually poisoning someone to become the fairest one more time....**
7) Malleus' isolated self and his hidden evil aura : This one's being shown too obviously . The lonely dark prince exposing his evil side under the full moonlight . All alone , beyond the forest of thorns (Lol how ironic) while the others are running to save him before it gets too late...***
(note : **,***: Vil and Malleus' description will be continued undercut)
Very well these were the general hints found on the opening , but don't miss the final seconds which included the biggest hidden facts you could've missed
Tumblr media
Firstly , the splitted ink (This one was previously discussed on part 1 but still...) : We talked about how in the "Epic Mickey", Mickey accidentally splits the magic ink over the kingdom and which led to the creation of "shadow blot". This sight seems to be much similar to what we had here in the epic mickey
Well this parallel might be more than just an accidental one and finally and it might actually be that overblot is kinda Crowley's fault , too
Tumblr media
Crowley crosses the mirror , turns into an actual crow and flies away...(DaMn YoU bIrDiE wHERe ArE yOu gOinG I'M noT doNe YeT-)
Well the reason he suddenly runs away isn't clear yet but being a fan of black butler for years , I was suddenly reminded of how Undertaker disappeared all of a sudden at this scene from the movie :" Book of Atlantic "
Tumblr media
pretty similar , aren't they..?
In Book of Atlantic , Undertaker revealed his original identity as a reaper and the mastermind behind the "Bizzare dolls' " project after pretending to be a just a crazy cookie lover for so long . And at once , he comes up with his stunning sudden self-reveal , leaving everyone in the room speechless
Now now , what do we have with Crowley?
A principal who keeps hiding his face (remember that Undertaker hid his eyes , too?) , telling everyone "how kind he is" many times ... also:
1) In the opening , he was standing smiling in the mirror hall while the seven dorms were burning through seven mirrors
2) He didn't ever try to stop anyone from overbloting ; even Riddle whose overblot occurred right in front of him
3) In the beggining of the game, he asked the mirror to choose the right one and then! and MC was chosen ! MC took the hand of the one appearing through the mirror (seemingly Dire Crowley) and came here. With all said , so why did the mirror reject MC afterwards?
Also , how couldn't he help MC return to Their own world and didn't know about it if he himself brought MC here..?(Could it be that...MC doesn't remember how she/he was brought here?)
4) If he literally is THIS useless and can't ever stop or help anything, then why would he be the principal.....?
Sooooo enough with Crowley ; but what's with these two....?
The spindle wheel & the poison apple ; Sleeping beauty and Snow white
Well it seems that Diasomnia and Pomefiore are going to play a greatly important role in the storyline . We were kinda sure of Diasomnia's but Pomefiore's...? What's so special with it?
(A few hours earlier)
(Me : Hmmm ... the black mirror...where have I seen this before..? *googling - searching Snow White- going to the magic mirror scene* Me : Uh...)
Well... here it is : The Crowley's beloved flower of evil , back at his days with evil queen

feeling old yet ...?
Tumblr media
Btw , just how important is being "the fairest one of all "to him ? How 'far' would he go to be the fairest...? With the bitten apple in the last few seconds of opening , it most likely seems that he IS gonna 'kill' to be the fairest again ...Who would he kill ? We don't know . But how about our pretty small guy Epel? Could it be him ? The stubborn freshman who refuses following Vil around and is usually mistaken with a girl......?
Also , why would the original mirror be so important to Crowley? If Vil's supposed to represent evil queen , why isn't 'he' the one owing the mirror...?
Tumblr media
And now , the spindle wheel .Great maleficent's legacy , in the hands of Crowley...Well well this is 'too' much . Malleus' family treasure being kept hidden in NRC... pathetic
Also , the mirror which Vil broke in the opening . Well well seems like he isn't having the original magic mirror , afterall....
But wait , if there's the spindle wheel , who's gonna be the evil witch to pull the sweet princess to eternal sleep..? Right , there's only one who might be...
Well we talked about all we'd got so far , but what about Grim ? Isn't anyone going to mention his importance or why he was also mentioned in this chaotic final seconds of opening ???
So... this is what we had in the final seconds :
Tumblr media
1)The apple
2) Crowley
3)The black ink
4)Grim
5)The spindle wheel
We talked about all of them except nu 4 . But before that , I've got the same question as before : Why is it "Sleeping beauty" & "Snow white"..?
We discussed the "overblot Grim " hints in (part 2), but here's another thing :
Very well , ever heard of "Grimm brothers"...?
In the case that you don't know who they are , here' the point : They are the authors of 'original' versions of sleeping beauty & snow white; two of the darkest , deepest and possibly creepiest stories of their own throughout the history
I believe that most of you are familiar with the original versions , but you may like to take a look at these two if you haven't yet heard of them check the two of these stories out : (note: I'm aware that there are darker , deeper versions of these too but I'm not gonna mention any of them because : 1)They aren't written by Grimm brothers & 2) They include overly sensual and inappropriate content which has no place in my posts . If you care to know about them , check them at your own risk)
Alright , if you ever wondered who was Grim named after , I guess we've got it now . Mentioning Grim , Snow white and Sleeping beauty together at once is too direct to be a coincidence ...but it's also terrifying ...
Thinking that Disney is actually referring to the original books written by Grimm brothers is a bit too dark... Original stories are really horrible and a great way to ruin one's childhood , but all these hints fit each other way too great and now , they may no longer be just a coincidence...

As Jaemin walked to his car to drive to school, he spotted you walking out of your door with a textbook in hand. He raised his hand, his mouth opening to call out your name when the scene from that night flashed through his mind. He sighed at the thought as he watch you walk to the bus stop without sparing a glance in his direction.
'Is she really that upset? It was just an old music box, after all.' Jaemin thought as he got into his car and turned his keys. 'She's just being petty, I bet if I offer her a ride to school. She's gonna go back to square one. Typical y/n," he smiled to himself, remembering the times where you two had arguments and one of the two of you would apologize when Jaemin offered you a ride.
Jaemin drove to catch up with you before you reach the stop, to his surprise, he saw Huang Renjun walking up to you with a bright smile, slinging an arm over your shoulders. Jaemin's blood ran cold at the sight of you smiling and rolling your eyes at the boy.
Jaemin forgot Renjun lived a few houses away from them, then again, he hasn't talked to Renjun much since Renjun left the team to join the arts club. 'What am I doing?' he thought to himself, running a hand through his hair as he let out a heavy sigh, his eyes never leaving the road as he drove by your laughing figures.
'This is what I wanted right? For once I don't have y/n constantly asking bout me or flirting with me or clinging onto me all the time. I should be happy that she finally got it to her head' he told himself. If that's so, why does he feel so empty? Why does he feel like something's missing deep inside of him.
Once he got to the school, he walked to his lockers only to be greeted by Donghyuck, who ran up and slung an arm around his neck. "If it isn't Mr. Na Jaemin." Donghyuck greeted with a cheeky grin as Jaemin smiled in response. "Good morning to you, too, Hyuck." he chuckled.
"I haven't seen you in a while," Hyuck clicked his tongue nonchalantly as they walked side by side, his arm hanging on one of Jaemin's shoulders. "Well if only your boyfriend didn't graduate early, I wouldn't be spending all my time with Coach." Jaemin laughed.
"As much as I am happy that Mark graduated early, I still can't believe he left me to rot here alone with nobody to talk to." he pouted, scrunching his face dramatically. "You're talking to me, though." Jaemin teased. "Exactly, you're a nobody, Mister Na." he deadpanned in response.
Jaemin playfully shoved the boy away from him, eliciting a laugh from the both of them as they walked to Jaemin's locker, spotting Jeno running through his own. "Good morning, Jeno." Jaemin smiled, unlocking his locker beside him.
"Did you two know we had homework on Biology?" Jeno exclaimed frantically, trying to find his textbook. "The one that's worth 5% of our grade? Yep," Hyuck responded with a bright nod. "Fuck, I'm definitely failing this class." Jeno groaned, running a hair through his black hair before shutting his locker.
Jaemin chuckled at his friend's misfortune, shaking his head with a soft "tsk tsk". "Oh lookie here, your future wife is heading this way, Nana." Hyuck teased, using the nickname you had made for him back when you two were 12 years old. "Get ready to feel single, Jeno." he added.
Jeno pointed an accusatory finger at the younger boy, "Hey! Mark graduated, you're gonna feel lonely with me, this time!" making Hyuck stick out his tongue. They were both too busy quarreling to acknowledge Jaemin's empty expression as she passed by them without your usual friendly 'hey'.
But they were shocked to see you walking side by side with your friends, your hand inside Renjun's. "Uh, Jaemin, y/n's right there." Hyuck nudged the boy beside him with his elbow. Jaemin looks up from his gaze at your hand inside Renjun's as you disappeared in the crowd of students.
"What? So?" Jaemin retorted almost defensively, eyes looking everywhere except for his friend who was staring at him in disbelief. "What do you mean 'so' ?! Your girlfriend just walked by without sparing a glance at us! Plus she was holding hands with Renjun," Hyuck exclaimed in disbelief.
"For the billionth time, Hyuck. She's not my girlfriend!" Jaemin spat, annoyance laced in his tone. Hyuck rolled his eyes, "whatever she is, she's holding hands with another guy, dude!" he shot back. Jeno sighed, putting a hand on Hyuck's shoulder, giving him a look of disappointment.
"They had a little fight the other day," Jeno explained briefly. "And she's being petty by giving me the silent treatment," Jaemin growled, shutting his locker and leaning his back against it with a click of his tongue. "What did you do this time?" Hyuck sighed, his expression lightening at the new information.
"Why do you always assume that I'm the one in the wrong?" Jaemin exclaimed, laying a hand on his chest, offended at the accusation. Jeno raised a brow as if to say 'really?', Hyuck giving him a similar look that mirrors Jeno's. Jaemin looks down in guilt, a frown evident on his face as he bit his lip to explain.
"It's not a big deal really. I just told her to leave me along once and for all," Jaemin shrugged as if it was no big deal, looking back at the crowded hall of students. "Not a big deal, my ass. Bro, you also broke her music box without an apology." Jeno stated with a roll of his eyes.
Hyuck's face contorted into a surprised frown, his mouth gaped. "Dude, that's a little harsh, don't you think? She must be genuinely upset to be giving you the silent treatment." Hyuck remarked, his eyes wide in disbelief. "Well at least Jaemin won't be complaining bout her annoying him all the time now that she's ghosting him, right Jae?" Jeno raised a brow at the younger boy.
Jaemin wasn't listening to anything they were saying as his eyes couldn't tear away from the two figures that were you and Renjun talking side by side as you grabbed your stationary from your locker. He felt his chest tightening, aching with a numb pain. What's going on? Why is he feeling this way?
"Jaemin?" Jeno's voice snapped Jaemin back into reality, his eyes widening slightly at the concerned tone as he diverted his gaze back to his friends. "Huh, what?" Jaemin mumbled, trying to ignore the numbing ache in his chest. "You okay?" he asked.
"I don't know, I kinda don't feel well, right now." Jaemin's brows furrowed as he watch you and Renjun walk to class side by side. at the corner of his eye. "We have a few minutes to class, you should go to the Nurse's office." Hyuck advised as he raised his brow in concern.
"Um, alright then," Jaemin nodded, "see you guys later." he waved to his friends before walking to the nurse's office with confusion. What's up with him? He was fine this morning, what's with the sudden pain in his chest?
Unbeknownst to him, his two friends were watching him walking away with concern looks on their faces. "So, I wasn't the only one who saw how sad he looks when he watched Y/n and Renjun right?" Hyuck muttered to Jeno, who nodded in agreement. "That dumbass is gonna have the tables turned, I just wonder what he's gonna do once he realizes that a human heart can't pratically live without the love of his soulmate." Jeno chuckled.
Tumblr media
Jaemin was scrolling through social media when you entered the class, his eyes wandered up for a small moment to give you a short glance, examining your figure standing on the doorway as if you haven't been attending the same class for three years.
His eyes quickly went down to his phone when he saw your head turn to his direction, walking right towards him. 'Of course, she's still gonna sit next to me.' he chuckled internally to himself, 'that's typical of her.' he thought.
He felt your presence close to his when you passed by him to sit at the empty seat at the back of the class. He frowned slightly, quickly masking it with a stoick expression as he hears the not so subtle chatters and whispers of his name and y/n's spilling from his classmates' mouth.
"Wait, y/n's not sitting next to Jaemin?"
"Did they have a fight or something?"
"Come to think of it, she skipped class with Renjun yesterday"
"Did she finally had enough?"
"Probably. Poor girl has been at it for two years!"
"Yikes, that's pretty harsh. No wonder she didn't even spare him a glance"
"Have you seen her left wrist? They say-"
"Good morning, class!" Mrs. Choi announced with a bright voice as she entered the class, silencing the whole students in a second. "Let's start today's lesson shall we? Open your textbooks to page 127," she smiled, raising her own copy of the textbook.
Jaemin turned his head to see you busy with opening your textbook and notes, flipping your pen in between your fingers. He quickly turned his head around as the teacher started explaining, opening his own textbook with a small pout on his face.
'Why didn't you come and sit next to him?' he pondered as he tried to advert his eyes to the whiteboard, watching you from the corner of his eye. A part of him wanted you to at least glance at him, make eye contact, anything.
But you didn't. Not even for a split second, it was as if you couldn't see him. As if you two hadn't known each other your whole lives. As if you were both strangers. Jaemin felt a slight ache in his chest, his hand stretching out to lay right on top of his heart.
He took a deep breath, his heart beat in his ears as Mrs. Choi's voice became muffled. It hurt. He doesn't know why, but his chest was hurting and he wants it to stop. It was similar to the pain when he lost on his first game and had an F on Chemistry on the same day. Yet, it was so different. It felt like his chest was actually being poked with tiny needles.
In a blink of an eye, the sound of the bell dismissing entered his ears, snapping him out of his thoughts as the pain subsided. Jaemin turned to see the students around him packing up and leaving class, causing him to jolt up and shove his textbook in his bag.
He felt y/n squeeze herself behind him, quickly leaving the class. Jaemin didn't know why but his feet quickly moved towards her, slinging his halfly zipped bag over his shoulder. His mouth opened as he reached the entrance, ready to call out your name.
His figure froze when he watched you walk up to none other than Huang Renjun. Jaemin's eyes watched as his arm slung around your shoulders, the sweet smile on your face as Renjun whispered something against your ear, eliciting a small laugh from you as the two of you walked to the exit.
Jaemin stared at the two of you with a blank expression. His pupils shaking upon your figures being pressed up against each other. His hand gripping the saddle of his bag that was slung over his shoulder tightly. He wanted to apologize for his actions and offer you a ride home, but his body wouldn't move when he caught Renjun's arm slung over your shoulder so casually.
So affectionately.
Jaemin broke his glare when he felt a slight burning sensation on his wrist. He jolted and hissed at the sharp pain as he pulled back his left sleeve, tugging down the watch to see his soulmate tattoo glowing a dimly blood red, his chest had an ugly feeling piercing his heart.
Jaemin clicked his tongue before heading to the bathroom. His wrist felt like it was burning, it felt scorching hot. Why was it burning? Jaemin acted on instinct and ran his wrist under the tap of cold running water, ignoring his underclassmen passing by and greeting him as they walked out of the boy's bathroom.
Jaemin rubbed the sore spot, his mind remembering the way Renjun's arm slung over your shoulder, laughing alongside you. And your smile. He doesn't remember the last time you smiled that wide for him, Jaemin hissed at the increasing pain on his wrist.
Jaemin winced and jolted as he felt as if something was stabbing him repeatedly in the chest, he slide down the walls of the now empty bathroom. He took silent deep breaths to try to calm himself, running a hand through his hair in distress.
What's going on?
Tumblr media
"Day 3 of Huang Renjun being extra nice to the poor girl who's bout to be single for the rest of her life, what will he do today?" you spoke in a way a news reporter would, holding your fist up to your mouth to act as a microphone as you walked towards Renjun who was waiting for you outside of class.
"Shut up, you're saying that I can't be nice to my dearest best friend?" Renjun teased, slinging an arm around your shoulder as you both walked out of the entrance. "Its definitely abnormal to see you restraining yourself to not flick me on the forehead whenever I do something stupid." you shrugged.
You felt the boy flick your forehead gently, causing you to let out a small yelp. "Happy?" Renjun smiled sweetly, as your hand went up to rub the slightly sore spot on your forehead. "Very," you rolled your eyes at him as he let's out a light chuckle.
At the corner of Renjun's eye, he saw Jaemin not far behind you two. His head was looking down at his wrist, his hand tugging down the sleeves. Renjun assumed he was taking a look at his soulmate mark, a frown evident on the younger boy's face.
Renjun almost felt bad. Jaemin seemed like a lost puppy, standing all by himself as students walked away. But yet again, he felt anger towards the boy to be so immature as to hurt someone he was suppose to cherish with all his life.
"So how was being in class with Mr. Heart breaker?" Renjun spoke after a moment of silence, averting his eyes back to you. You gasped at the nickname, "don't say it like that! You're making it seem as if he was some sort of school fuckboy." you scolded, landing a smack square on his chest.
Renjun laughed before you spoke in a quiet tone, "alot of people were talking bout us when I entered the class without screaming his name and clinging onto him like a koala," you shrugged casually. "He's probably upset even more now that people are talking bout how distant I've been towards him," you added with a heavy sigh.
Renjun patted your head softly, nodding in sympathy. "It'll all blow over soon. After all, you were always dramatic with your actions when it comes to Jaemin." he chuckled as you both entered the ice cream shop, walking up to the counter. "Shut up, Huang." you mumbled with a pout.
"Welcome to Weishen Ice Cream Shop, how may I help you two, today?" the cashier smiled as he came up to the counter, wiping his hand on a wet rag. You recognize him as Qian Kun, he would always give you free ice cream whenever you're down in the dumps.
"Hey Kun," you smiled as Renjun pulled out his wallet behind you. "Y/n, Renjun, pleasure to see you as always." Kun nodded with a charming smile as you started placing your orders, paying for your own ice cream after a brief argument bout who's paying.
"How's Jaemin? I haven't seen him around recently," Kun asked as he scoops up the ice-cream into the neon yellow cup. You tensed at the name, recalling Jaemin's words that night. You muster up a small smile, ignoring Renjun's concerned gaze as you reply.
"He's fine. Haven't seen him in a while either." you shrugged as Kun handed you your ice-cream. "Well, if you see him, tell him to come by. I missed that guy," Kun said with a soft pause in between sentences, sensing the tension in the air once he brought up the teenage boy.
"Shameless self advertising again, old man?" Renjun chuckled as he grabs a spoon off the counter. Kun blinked, pointing the metal ice cream scoop dramatically at Renjun, "Who are you calling old man? I just gave you cheap ice cream and this is how you treat me, Renjun? You should respect your elders, you brat." he jokes.
You giggled as Renjun stuck his tongue out at the older man, you pulled him away before Kun could jump over the counter and start whacking him with the ice cream scoop. "You're so immature sometimes," you laughed as you sat down on one of the booths by the windowsill.
Renjun rolled his eyes with a soft smile, shoving his ice-cream into your mouth to prevent anymore insults from spilling out of your mouth. Unbeknownst to the  two of you, Lee Donghyuck and Lee Jeno were walking side by side to go to an arcade, spotting you and Renjun from across the street through the window.
“Jeno!” Donghyuck halted his movements once his eyes adverted to your laughing figures. “What?” Jeno asked, halting beside the younger boy to turn to see where Donghyuck was pointing at. “Look! Is that who I think it is?” Hyuck exclaimed as Jeno’s eye caught you and Renjun sitting infront of each other in that old ice cream shop, watching as Renjun flicked you on the forehead with a laugh, watching a pout form oon your expression.
“Is that Renjun? And Y/n” Jeno asked, squinting his eyes to make sure he wasn’t seeing things. “It looks like they’re on some kind of date,” he added as Hyuck clicked his tongue. “I knew they were close but i didn’t think they were this close,” Hyuck gaped, watching as the two of you continued on with your conversation without a bother in the world.
“Do you think they’re-” he asked, only to be cut off. “No, that’s not possible.” Jeno spoke rather abruptly, his mind flashing back to his best friend. “The soulmate system allows you to have romantic feelings only towards the person you’re bonded with.” he added with a serious tone. Hyuck rolled his eyes at his statement.
“Then what do you call that dense best friend of yours?” he asked, raising a brow at him. “For all the years I’ve known him, he doesn’t seem to show the slightest care for the poor girl, she has the right to feel loved too, you know. Even when it’s from someone else,” Hyuck snapped.
Hyuck cares bout you. He really does. Not because you always lend him homework answers and notes when he asked, not because of the many talks you two had whenever he had some problems with Mark, but because you were like the sister he never had. Seeing the pain in your eyes whenever Jaemin turns you down was a painful sight to see, he wants you to be happy.
“Hyuck, Jaemin cares bout her deep down. I know he does. He’s just too stubborn to admit it. I’ve known Jaemin longer than you have, he does like her, trust me. He’s just to stupid to realize.” Jeno sighed, shaking his head profusely at the thought of his best friend. Deep down, Jeno wasn’t even sure what he said was true. He’s heard of the controversial rumour surrounding the soulmate system.
That when the system is rigged, people can have feelings for others that they can’t have. Those whose feelings are reciprocated by someone that aren’t their soulmates were just a sign of God attempting to fix the mistake. No one knows what would happen to those whose feelings aren’t reciprocated. Rumors said that there was a possibility that they vanish into thin air out of despair and heartbreak, some say they were doomed to live the rest of their life feeling loveless.
Others say they consult into more...
Terrifying inhumane methods.
Jeno shuddered at the thought, shaking his head to shake away the horrifying thoughts of what would come to Jaemin and Y/N if this keeps happening. He didn’t want to know what was going to happen if this keeps happening.
“I just hope you’re right, Jen.”

I'm curious about your take on Wakanda being wronged hard in FaTWS, and by Bucky specifically? I haven't seen many people talk about it, but I'm just angry and confused as to why Bucky was to careless and rude towards Ayo and the Dora Milaje, acting as if their anger about Zemo was an overreaction. Hell, Walker got more respect from him in the end than the Dora did
I'm looking at the writers' perspective here, it was their decision and I'm wondering why. What was the thought behind it? Why did they make Bucky so insensitive? At first I thought it had to be some arc, but nothing came from it. I'm wondering what made them look at this series and think "Yes, let's make Bucky screw over the people that helped him".
It wasn't just him wronging Wakanda, it was his behavior towards Sam too, how he was so ignorant during the cop scene, dismissive of Sam's feelings, and obsessed with the shield to a point of lashing out at Sam for things that weren't his fault. Why was this a choice that was made? Bucky didn't have much personality in the other movies, they could've done anything but they chose this, and I think more people should talk about how wrong that is. Not for Bucky, but for the black people in the series who were wronged.
Okay so here’s the deal. One, I’m white, so know that going in, take my take on this for whatever it’s worth accordingly. Two, I haven’t watched the eps since they aired, with the exception of a couple scenes, so my memory—not so much of events but of specific nuances of how Bucky reacted to them—isn’t fresh.
I say that last part specifically because of Bucky and his interactions with Sam, because ultimately they bother me much less than the Wakanda stuff, and here’s why. Bucky is, to varying degrees depending on situation and episode, a dick to Sam about the shield for most of the series. Undoubtedly. But I get that, to a point. He at least explains his feelings in 1x05, why he reacted like that, and admits he fucked up. He had all his feelings for Steve wrapped up, incorrectly, in that shield, so when Sam just tossed it aside (from Bucky’s perspective), it caused him to freak out/lash out. Which was never fair to Sam, but at least culminated in Bucky recognizing that. Sam keeps saying to him that the two of them have not lived the same experience, the shield and its legacy do not mean the same thing to them, and Bucky finally realizes that. He acknowledges that neither he nor Steve grasped the full reality of the situation, and he apologizes. Does that erase what came before? No, but it’s not supposed to. It’s him acknowledging his own ignorance and trying to do better.
So, at least there’s an arc there, which is the other reason his stuff with Sam bugged me less. There was an evolution in his thinking, there was a change from wah wah, you gave up the shield, to oh wait, I kinda get it now. He realizes that his reactions were wrong, even if his feelings were understandable. Which, on a human level, I think they were. It’s a very human thing for Bucky to equate that shield directly to Steve, and take Sam’s rejection of it as a rejection of Steve. It’s understandable how he got there, given the bizarre nature of Steve’s time travel shenanigans, the nearly endless nightmare that Bucky’s life has been since he fell from the train. Losing yet another 5 years when he’s already lost 70+, all the unprocessed guilt and grief that isn’t helped by him having actually the worst therapist ever, oh my God this woman sucks at her job, she’s funny, but she’s awful. His feelings, I believe, were valid, given everything that went down. His reaction to them—the lashing out, whining, refusing to see Sam’s side of it—his reaction was not valid. But at least he gets to a point where he realizes that. At least there’s an arc.
Could they have found a different way to create conflict in the series? Sure, and I’m not gonna argue with anyone who wishes they had. For me personally, I was okay with it. Bucky’s ignorance and misplaced anger made sense to me. Bit of an aside, one of the few scenes I rewatched for this (because Youtube and knowing exactly where it was) was the cop scene, because you referenced. I’m assuming you mean the bit where Sam gets stopped, gets the ‘calm down sir’ treatment. I didn’t think Bucky was a dick in that scene? He seemed aware of what was happening, given his angry, “No he’s not bothering me, do you know who this is?” It’s actually one of a relatively few instances in the first 5 eps where Bucky does seem genuinely aware that he and Sam don’t live in the same world, even when they’re walking the same street, right next to each other. So, as far as illustrating that, and Bucky coming out of his own feelings long enough to pay attention to Sam’s, I thought it was one of the better scenes.
So, Sam and Bucky, I’m less bothered by. Bucky and Wakanda? That’s a hot garbage fire.
Zemo’s whole inclusion here, and nearly everything related to it, was incredibly botched. He’s randomly rich as fuck now, and a Baron, to match his comics counterpart. Which is not only an incredibly lazy retcon, it kills much of what made his character interesting in CW. In that movie, it was one guy, working alone, limited resources, dedicating himself to his cause. If nothing else, you had to admire his tenacity. Now suddenly he’s got a butler and a plane and piles of cash? Where was that in CW? More importantly…why? What purpose did it serve, besides making him more superficially similar to his comic self?
Why did we detour to him at all? None of his plans ultimately affect the larger narrative all that much. He starts out in prison and…ends up back in prison. Why? Why would the Dora just leave him there? Ayo says that they will bring Zemo back to face Wakandan justice…and then they just don’t. They leave him in the hands of the same people who lost him to two random dudes who were able to bust him out of prison on their own, one of those dudes being an entirely human guy, no enhanced powers, no Serum. In CW, okay, T’Challa did a deal with Everett Ross I guess, fine. But once the Americans proved they couldn’t hold him, it made no sense that the Dora would just go, okay, here you go again. They aren’t Batman. They have no reason to keep throwing the baddies in Arkham Asylum to wait ‘til next week when someone breaks out again.
The Zemo stuff had no arc to it. The only worthwhile thing was Bucky proving to Zemo that he can’t be controlled anymore, but that scene could have come about in a million better ways than it did. Ultimately, the weird little team-up with Zemo feels very cliché and contrived. It feels like a trip down a side road that dead ends to nowhere. It feels like filler, which is a particularly terrible crime when there’s only 6 episodes in the damn season.
Bucky’s dickishness towards Ayo and the other Dora really is baffling, especially when the writers went out of their way to give us that flashback, a direct, show don’t tell indication of all the Wakandans did for him. And it’s not his feelings for Steve that have him acting out this way, or at least it shouldn’t be. Steve has nothing to do with this aspect of things. Steve obviously had trust in and respect for T’Challa, and there’s no reason to think that wouldn’t extend to the Dora as well. Strong, badass women who put it all on the line for their country? Yeah, Steve should/would get that. He would have broken Zemo out of prison, if he thought it was the right call to make, but he also would’ve been like yeah, I did that, I understand that I fucked you over, I’m fully prepared to accept the consequences of that once my mission is complete, I’m sorry it went down like this. See the, “I’d like to surrender myself for disciplinary action,” he gives Phillips in First Avenger, after he goes to rescue the 107th. If it’s an authority he respects and acknowledges as having good intentions (Phillips as opposed to the Accords), Steve will ultimately give that respect back, even if he goes off to do his own thing first. He respected T’Challa and Wakanda. Bucky should have respected them even more, given his more direct connection, given the flashback scene in FatWS, given his acknowledgement that Wakanda and it’s people gave him a rare respite, a calm in the shit storm that’s been his life since 1945.
So yeah, it doesn’t make sense that he was so flippant and dismissive towards Ayo and the rest. It makes even less sense that they put up with it. It’s bad writing, that’s all I’ve got. The show is incredibly irritating, in that a lot of the plot-driven stuff is pretty fucking awful, but most of the character study stuff for Sam and Bucky is so good.

Coming Home
So, @thegaypumpingthroughyourveins, do you remember that ask with Percival getting adopted by fae? Yeah, well, this happened while I was in the car. The Grindelnewt one is on the way, but I COULD NOT get this story out of my head so....yeah.
Grindelwald is being a bitch, so this will be the appetizer while we wait for him to cooperate. Enjoy 😋😋
~
Tumblr media
He'd known them all his life. He grew up with them, learned their ways and traditions, knew every single clan member by heart, and came to accept the Black Forest and its harsh weather conditions as his home. They were gracious people the fae, called him a child of their own even though he was human, weak, soft, even with the little magic he had, it was no match for their power. Maybe that was why his parents gave him away.
Ah, his 'loving' parents. The Graves', whom the clan had once owed a favor to. Such lovely people who gave away their only son when he was just ten years old to ancient clan of faes buried deep in a long forgotten forest in Ireland. Their excuse? "You'll learn better magic here, darling, so you'll grow nice and strong." At least the fae had been honest with him. "You were weak, boy. Weak of magic. So weak your mummy was glad to leave you here with our kind, ashamed to call someone as weak as you her son."
But now, some twenty years later, he was strong. He was a fighter, his magic was more powerful than most members of the clan. He was smart too, the few books his parents so graciously dropped off on their sparse visits enough fill his mind with all the knowledge of their world. He knew of witches and wizards, of no-majs who's fear towards magic rivaled a human's fear towards fae. He knew of the many, many laws set in place to keep the two away from each other, studied them, memorized them by heart if not only to spite his human father, who said he could never live up to his legacy.
It was safe to say Percival Graves became more than anything his family could have hoped for.
He often dreamt of the human world, of the men and women walking down the busy streets in fancy clothing, some hiding their wands in their cloaks, forced to live in hiding. He had a wand too, and he also had fancy clothes, given to him by his parents. The fae were clothed in only furs and and feathers braided in their hair. They never got cold, so it was nothing to them. Only the leaders hung bones around their necks, a symbol of their power.
Or should he say 'leader', for there was only one. Gaelach was a fair matriarch, a queen, fair and old, eternally beautiful and unnaturally strong. She had taken him and treated her like he was her child, teaching him things, raising him. Like he was her own flesh and blood. As the years passed, he came to know that that was because her own son had disappeared a long time ago.
"His father was human," she'd say. "He was taken from me when he was ten moons old and my mate took him across the sea. In the winter and the summer, he'd return. I'd clean his wounds, he had so many scars, and I'd teach him things they never could"
"What happened to him?"
She would pause then, and he'd think he crossed a line, but she continued. "It wasn't many moons before you came along. I still remember the haunted look in his eyes when I saw him, just...standing there, by the trees. He never told me what happened, but he cried on my shoulders, said he was sorry for all the things he'd done, for not seeing me enough. He said he needed to go, so I let him. I never saw him again."
"What was his name?"
He could tell she loved him then. Loved her son more than Percival's mother could love him. She never answered, feigning drowsiness and fatigue, but he knew it was more. And he knew he could never replace this mysterious boy's presence in her heart.
-----
Every time his parents would want to visit, they'd send a letter. By raven. And he'd know it was for him if it landed on his arm and cawed at him. This time, there were two of them.
The first, of course was for him, and it came mid day. His heart lifted when he read it. His parents wanted him to come home, that it was urgent, and that they would be coming for him straight away. He was both angered and overjoyed at their words, loathing that they only wanted him back now when there was danger, but excited to finally be able to see the human world.
The second was for Gaelach, and it came in the middle of the night. Most of them, including Percival, had been asleep when they hear the raven cawing over the tree line. As soon as they all awoke, it swooped down to drop a single torn piece of paper into Gaelach's hands. He couldn't read it, as it was so small, but whatever it said had Gaelach sprinting through the crowd and dashing into the trees.
All fae could shift forms, and Gaelach, like most of the clan, was a wolf. The others shifted too, some wolves, some birds, some foxes and other animals. Percival lagged behind on his human legs, trudging through the snow. They were nearing the edge of the forest when she shifted again and stopped. It took Percival sometime to catch his breath and look over the rest of the clan to see who it was.
There, slumped against the tree, was a man. A human. His bone white hair was long, reaching his ears, covering some of his face, but Percival couldn't miss his eyes that glinted in the dark. Glinted, like a fae's would. He wore clothes similar to Percival's father's, except they were torn and dirty. He was bleeding too, clutching a wound in his side, looking up at Gaelach as she kneeled before him.
Slowly, her hand came to his side, prying his fingers away from the wound and digging into it. Percival could hear the man's breath hitch as he let her do it, and his tired sigh as she pulled away and brought her bloody fingers to her mouth. There was a moment of pure silence, not single bird in trees or whisper of the wind. Percival watched at the fae queen's eyes widened and her mouth gaped opened, showing her perfect, pointed teeth. The man smiled.
"Hello Mutti," he rasped, the sound lime falling tree branches. "D-did you miss me?"
A choking sound came out of Gaelach as she fell on her knees and wrapped her arms around his neck. Most of the clan had shifted now as she sobbed on his head, petting his matted lockes. Percival saw his bloodied hands shakily came around her in turn.
And that's when he saw it. The wand, albeit different from his own, but still the familiar long and thin piece of wood clutched in the man's right hand.
Both of them were sobbing now. "I'm sorry Mutti. I'm so so sorry" and "I know, sweetheart, I know. I know."
It was a while before Gaelach let him go, pulling back to cup one side of his face instead. He held her there, still choking, gaze never moving from her face. The scene made something move in Percival's heart.
"Please forgive me Mutti," the man swallowed, with the saddest of smiles on his face. "I know I ha-haven't seen you in- years and I- I'm so sorry. Vatter, he- all those years ago I-"
"Shhh," she smiled. "It's all right. You're home now and that's all that matters. All is forgiven, Darling, you're still my son. You'll always be my son."
She rose and turned to the rest of them, the clan growing silent as the man slowly got up, leaning against the tree. Her hand came to his shoulder as he helped him turn to face them, his gaze darting between them all.
"Bow before your Prince!" And they did, bowing their heads in unison. As Percival's gaze fell to ground beneath them, he felt eyes boring into his chest, his face. When he looked up, he saw the prince's mismatched eyes staring at him. He shuddered as Gaelach beamed at her son.
"Welcome home, Gellert"

Previously you said that you didn't think Nina delivered a very strong performances of Katherine/Elena, and since I've seen other people comment about that too, it would be interesting if you could dive deeper into that? I haven't watched the finale, except from the SE scene (who I personally think was just as good as all scenes between Paul and Nina / Stefan and Elena) and Stefan and Lexi's scene, so I can't really make a stand point on the matter
To be honest, it’s difficult to distinguish between the performance being poor and the writing being poor, because I do feel like Katherine and Elena didn’t have enough adequate screen time for us as viewers to be able to reconnect with them. Bringing them both back for just one final episode seemed so rushed and I think that partly plays into the reason why the performances felt so poor. I mean, I’m pretty sure Katherine only got three scenes and Elena a few more than that, but still barely any real screentime or dialogue. Her main scene was basically the final scene where we had her voice over as she wrote in her diary, but to be honest, after the direction the show headed in after Elena was gone it felt kinda wrong to have her finishing the show, even though she was the one that opened it and was always the main character.  But to delve deeper into this I’ll analyse Katherine and Elena separately, because it’s just easier that way. I also won’t really discuss how the writing affected it, because I’ve already explained that I do feel the poor writing contributed to it, but you asked specifically about Nina’s performance, so that’s what I’ll focus on.
Katherine: Her portrayal of Katherine was so much worse than her portrayal of Elena. I’m assuming it’s because Katherine is more of a challenge to play because she’s so different than Nina, which Nina herself has even said in the past. It didn’t even remotely feel like the same Katherine to me. I have to admit, that the small details did affect my perception of her being Katherine and by that I mean her appearance. I understand that Nina is a real person off-screen that has changed and aged since she last played Katherine in season 5, but she just looked completely alien to me. Firstly, what was that hideous wig!? I’m still in shock at how bad it was. Her hair line was like 10 inches further forward than it was supposed to be and apparently there’s hairdressers in hell, cos her hair was a damn lot shorter than it was when she died. Even her make-up didn’t look right. I know Katherine’s signature look is the dark eyeliner and red lipstick, but it just looked so trashy. Then there’s the issue of Nina’s body language. The walk, the hand gestures, the posture, it was all wrong and none of it felt like Katherine. Katherine stands up right, when she walks she struts in an almost seductive and arrogant manner but there was none of that. The exaggerated facial expressions are one of the main things that have always separated Katherine from Elena. Usually I can tell just from seeing a gif whether it’s Elena or Katherine based on the way Nina is moving her lips when she speaks, because with Katherine it’s much more pronounced and dramatic. Nina did try and do that, but she didn’t go far enough. Her face looked stiff a lot of the time and the expressions were just lacking. Katherine has always been a character that communicated a lot physically, so through her expressions, her gestures etc. and all of that was stripped back completely. Then there’s the eyes and the smile. That vindictive and cunning smile Katherine had was no where to be seen and the glint in her eye to go along with it was also gone. Basically, Nina put on a deeper voice and did a more pouty face than she would as Elena and that was it. But everything that we know Katherine Pierce to be was gone in that finale and I wish they would’ve just left her alone instead of resurrecting her for absolutely no purpose.
Elena: Again, the first issue I’m obviously going to mention is the same as Katherine - her appearance. The wig was atrocious and that alone was enough to make her look nothing like Elena to me. Nina’s strongest performance throughout the entire finale was by far the scene she had with Paul. There was real emotion in that scene that felt genuine. Other than that, I can’t really criticise her performance of Elena much more than that, because she didn’t particularly do anything wrong, it just didn’t really feel like Elena to me and I do put that down to the writing and time.
I know I said I wouldn’t talk about the writing, but I can’t help myself haha. I understand the writers wanted to bring Nina back for the finale since she was a part of the show for so long and played two of the most important characters, but in a way it didn’t fit for Elena and Katherine to come back. In regards to Elena’s character, she was already up in the air anyway, because she’d been pretty poorly written since she became a vampire. It’s like the writers got confused between vampire and human Elena and she lost her personality and identity because of it. She was one person in season 4 when she first transitioned, another in season 5 and another in season 6, then in the last 2 episodes they made her human and did a complete 180 on her character by trying to make her the exact same Elena she was in season 1. Then she slipped into a coma and suddenly woke up in the finale, so we had all of 5 minutes to try and get to know who she was again and it just didn’t work. To be honest, Nina did ruin the show by leaving in season 6 and we all know it. The ending we would’ve gotten if she would’ve stuck around until the end would’ve been a million times better for certain. The writers have basically just winged it for these last two seasons to squeeze the final bit of money and life they could out of it before bringing it to an end. But Nina should’ve never left and this finale just proved why.
As for Katherine, her character’s story ended a long time ago. They already unnecessarily dragged it out by making her a passenger in Elena’s body, which really served no purpose but to bring her back again for that pitiful finale was just wasteful and pointless. Katherine’s story had already had closure and although bringing her back could’ve been epic if it would’ve been done correctly, it really sucked.
In the end, I basically think Nina’s return ruined the finale. I could write a million alternative endings I’d prefer to see, but this is just one of them:
A villain (not Katherine) threatens Mystic Falls for who knows what reason (the writers always find some pathetic, small reason and turn it into a big one). Stefan, Damon, Caroline, Bonnie, Matt and Alaric all work together to defeat the evil.
The person that dies is Elena.
Right after they’ve defeated the villian everyone comes to the realisation that Elena is really gone and they’re all grieving for Elena
We get a sweet Defan moment where they confess their love and cry over Elena being gone, but we can clearly see their relationship is finally on track and stronger than ever
At the same time we get a sweet Baroline moment where the girls grieve for Elena too
After that, Stefan and Caroline come together and just sit together in front of the fireplace taking comfort in each other
In the meantime we cut to a Bamon scene, they’re maybe watching Steroline from a distance and Damon comments on how lucky they are to have each other. They basically chat about losing Enzo and Elena and their shared grief of simulatenously losing their partners and best friends.
Some time after, maybe a week or two, we see Steroline go on honeymoon to distract themselves and just get a break
Bamon decide they should go on a roadtrip to deal with their grief and just rediscover themselves. We see them driving off in Damon’s camaro.
We jump forward 10 years or so and get a similar montage to what we got in the actual finale, of Matt being sheriff with Vicki and Tyler watching over him, Bonnie is with Ric and Caroline and they’ve set up a school for magical kids because of the girls and because Bonnie is inspired to use her magic for the purpose of teaching other witches. Damon arrives in his camaro with Stefan, who is dressed in a doctor/paramedic uniform. Damon goes right up to Bonnie, slips his hand around her waist and kisses her, whilst Stefan goes to Caroline and does the same.
Like honestly, I would much rather have seen that than what we actually got. I just feel like despite all the constant Elena mentions, the show actually outgrew Elena in those two seasons that she was gone and the characters that stayed until the end deserved to be the ones that got the happy ending and were there to see it out. It kinda felt cheap that the characters that essentially carried the show for the last two seasons were completely cast aside and Elena who had been back for all of two seconds stole the show and took front and center stage. The show basically reinvented itself during seasons 7 and 8 and I do completely understand why the writers wanted to go back to the roots and try to recapture the essence of season 1. I thought I’d want to see that myself, but I can’t shake the feeling of how wrong and out of place it all felt. With how things developed and progressed, to go back to Elena at the end felt like taking a thousand steps back. Watching the finale really hammered home to me that it wasn’t about Elena like I first thought. It wasn’t even about Stefan either. It was about all of the characters that were left, the ones that had been on the show since the beginning and been on the complete journey. Elena wasn’t one of those people.
And I’m aware that I’ve gone off on so much of a tangent, so I’m going to end it there. But my main point is that Nina’s performances were so terrible because the writing was terrible and the writing was terrible because there was just no room for Elena (or Katherine) in the finale and the writers forced it. How could Nina perform to the best of her ability when she hadn’t played those characters in years, the material she had to work with was so bizarre and OOC and when she was basically stepping into a completely different world of TVD than what it was when she was on it way back in season 6?
