Creo que si algo nos caracteriza a quienes vivimos en Tumblr es la búsqueda: de sentido, identidad, empatía, significado, comprensión...
Buscamos sin poder encontrarnos.
Acabo de terminar este libro, de los más significativos en mi vida.
Hace dos años comencé a escuchar el podcast "El Estoico", de Pepe García, y me dió un esquema bastante sencillo y accesible sobre el estoicismo, pero poco a poco Pepe comenzó a convertirse paradójicamente en un mero producto.
Leí a Epicteto, a Marco Aurelio y a Séneca.
Obviamente Ryan Holiday me guiñó el ojo, pero bastó con ver los precios de sus libros y leer un poco de su biografía para saber que utilizaba el estoicismo como si fuera una marca.
Inevitablemente, llegué a Massimo Pigliucci, escuchaba su podcast, entrevistas, conferencias, etc. En casa me bromeaban porque todo el tiempo estaba escuchándolo o viendo su videos, me encantaba. Comencé a leer "Cómo ser un Estoico" pero algo me incomodaba, con el tiempo comprendí que aunque no se tratara de un libro de superación personal, también era un texto regurgitado.
Hasta que llegué a William Irvine. Éste es un libro sustancioso, con fundamentos filosóficos, un esquema lógico plagado de referencias, pero dirigido a lxs no filósofxs, aquellxs que buscamos una filosofía de vida alejada de la religión y la mística. Y fue aquí donde me encontré. Se los recomiendo de todo corazón.
Medito y practico mindfulness desde el 2020, un año después comencé a interesarme en el estoicismo e intentar aplicarlo intermitentemente, pero fue apenas hace unos meses que lo tomé en serio y finalmente estoy comenzando a experimentar una vida plena y serena.
En mi juventud, me apodaban Daria y yo me sentía orgullosa, pensaba que se trataba de una personalidad excepcional, una chica inteligente, distinta a las masas. Pero ¿qué sentido tiene ser inteligente e infeliz? Eso no es una virtud, es una reverenda estupidez.
Viví deprimida desde mi infancia. Después de una inmensa travesía, por fin, a los 30 años comencé un tratamiento psiquiátrico, posteriormente me diagnosticaron TLP y TDAH. En unos años logré salir de la depresión, aunque su esencia ya era parte de mí. Probé con la terapia psicológica en varias ocasiones y hoy sé que nunca más lo volvería a hacer.
Soy alcohólica, fumé mota durante distintos periodos de mi vida, la Ayahuasca me hizo ojitos, me obsesioné con el erotismo, probé con el tarot y la astrología, pero nada me complacía.
En mi insaciabilidad, llegué al punto de abandonar a mi familia, me arriesgué y lo perdí todo, me quedé sin hogar, sin sustento y aún sin motivos para vivir.
Pero el estoicismo me ha cambiado, hoy amo mi vida, cada persona con la que cuento, los momentos, las oportunidades, el viento, la luz, los sonidos... Todos y cada uno de los elementos que me conforman.
Por supuesto no estoy 100% complacida y no soy perfecta, pero dejé de buscar y me esfuerzo a cada momento por disfrutar lo efímero de mi existencia. Nunca creí leerme de una forma tan positiva, pero el día llegó y me siento serena.

Psychic Witch: A Metaphysical Guide to Meditation, Magick & Manifestation by Mat Auryn - Honest Review Request
I saw some good ideas supposedly from this book so I will read it and give my PERSONAL review. As usual, is personal, I’m not a master level 800000 on magic, I’m not a professional writer (I write a book not witchy related and to of small shits) and will be as unbiased as I can be, but always calling out any kind of racism/ lgtbphobia or anything. If you don’t like it, do your own review. If you like it and is useful for you, great.

Pros:
Against the idea that you have to come from witch’s bloodline to have the “skill”.
Points in the simplicity of witchcraft as lifestyle and not as an aesthetic epic quest.
Very gendered neutral book.
Quoted “I have found that there are ways around certain culturally specific practices without appropriating them as our own, simply by using a cosmological system that is a bit more universal in nature” YES THANK YOU +10 points. There are universally open replacements to pretty much anything. (Here is the link of such list).
No use of the “God/Goddess” exclusively, he… * google to not misgender *, yes, he uses the “Divine” but tell us to modify it accordingly our beliefs, so we can use terms as Spirit, Divine Mind, the Universe, Source, God, Goddess, or the Star Goddess, Angels and pretty much anything that suit us. Thank you!
 Quoted “You may also notice that there are few to no tools or materials necessary for the work in this book aside from your mind, body, and spirit” * Celebrate af * I LIKE THIS DUDE.
Non Wiccan.
Witch Eye as open replacement of the Third Eye.
Correct medical information.
A LOT of interesting and fun exercises.
Don’t fall in “The Diet That You Should Have” or “Foods You Should Avoid”. Instead he mentions “We all have different dietary and health needs, so use your own discernment when it comes to food”. YES THANK YOU.
Grounding and cleansing used outside the “pre spell step” and used as a daily resource instead.
Nothing of “black magic”, no racism, no anything phobic.
No cultural mayor appropriation. There are mentions of things related to easter cultures but is not like “this is a Hindu practice so do it” but more like use words like Ketheric Template, Atmic Body, or Buddhic Body. Nothing of chakra and karma.
Safety warnings like “Don’t meditate as driving” or “Check your therapist/doctor is important because health come first” or “Professional health care first”.
Suggest learn some psychology, specially from Jung and… ew Freud (sorry, I hate Freud). The book explores some psychological aspects that make me remember things I learned in college. So, extra points because accuracy.
Neuroplasticity. Nice.
Dismiss the basic older sexist “binary gender” of the Principle of Polarity (Law of opposites, male and female) by saying that, and I quote “The Principle of Rhythm states that everything is a spectrum between the two poles that are constantly in flux. Gender is a spectrum, as is light and darkness, and temperature”. GOOD.
Some good info of basic things as the 4 elements, basic witchcraft, the planets, etc.
Mundane before magic idea.
Cons:
Some exercises demand a LOT of “imagine this full complete scenery for one hour” and can be a real struggle to people like me who have a hard time in imagine at “other’s command”.
Too much meditation and yoga to my taste lol
“Molten Core” of the earth. Technically, the core of the earth is SUPPOSEDELY solid even at that mega high temperatures (5,430 °C; 9,800 °F) because the high pressure but weeeeeeeeeell, I’m being a witch bitch, lol. (Wiki link ) 
A little too much of “daily stuffs”. Like, we need to cleanse, shield, protect, recharge, meditate, all, each single damn day. Like, dude, I have no enough energy or even time, relax… * groan in chronic pain *
Spider minimal mention. Around page 123 and 231.
Sexual minimal mentions. Around page 133, 134, 190, 211 and 212.
Zero consideration to neurodivergent people. The book seems to be made to perfect neurotypical people who don’t experience ADHD or Autism or anything, and who are living alone in a house full for them.
A little too much of “I had this many MANY super ethereal special almost divine experiences, hence, it must be true” stories. Like, we get it, you are special and you can know if the president of Panama has a UTI by just thinking and the cosmos send you a whatsapp each day at 3pm…
Is interesting how the book mention “In this book you will not find a bunch of spells to fix your problems; I think the title probably gave that away. What you will find, however, are tools that will help you to unlock your potential as a witch”.
There were a few times that let me thinking and saying a “NOW, THAT THING HAVE FRUCKTING SENSE”.
In general is a great book, it just can be a little dense, technical and with a lot of new terms to super beginners or people not used to the topic, so I don’t recommend it if you are just starting in this witchy field.
The author doesn’t seem too pedant and sometimes drop compliments and encouraging words, so the text doesn’t become annoying, pretty much the opposite. A lot to say coming from someone who have struggles in read and stay focused with long texts.
In general, an 8.5/10, 4.5 stars. Very recommended to any witch/occultist with deep interest in clairs and shits like that.
