Bakugou has been fed up with you turning this into a big joke. He had to watch you, his lover, bleed out because of his own sloppiness fighting that villain. The 3 weeks you spent in the hospital were hell and almost immediately when you got out you were making jokes? He thinks you’re crazy.

One night he’s carefully introducing sex back into the picture. It would be the first time yall did anything in a long time because you needed to recover and he was setting some ground rules.

Kieran has me in a chokehold. His character arc is so GOOD. You can tell that his bitterness and anger doesn’t just come from everything that’s happened to him recently. It’s pretty obvious that he’s been living in Carmine’s shadow for a LONG time and she’s always kinda treated him badly. But it wasn’t until the player character came along that he was finally able to voice that in his own way;; Just when he thinks he’s made a true friend in someone, someone that can and will stand up to his sister and is able to defeat her in battle (which inspires him to start speaking up for himself more), Carmine steals them away. And that’s a big betrayal to him. He clearly has self esteem issues which leads to him thinking that Carmine was talking shit about him behind his back and getting the player to believe that he wasn’t worth being friends with. And that makes him think both of them were laughing at him and making fun of him. And THEN the player goes and takes the last thing that Kieran has, the last thing he truly cares about: Ogerpon. It’s no wonder he got so frustrated and petty and lashed out 😭 Still breaks my heart to see but they did a really good job showing that progression of him losing more and more of his patience with Carmine. And him generally feeling like everything he cares about is being torn away. And losing to the player over and over just makes things WORSE. He’s not strong enough to beat them, he’s not strong enough to stand up to his sister, he’s not strong enough to be worthy of Ogerpon, he’s not strong. He needs to get stronger. Stronger and stronger and stronger.

GODDDD. He’s going to live rent free in my brain forever now. I can’t wait to see the direction they take with him in The Indigo Disk

I’ve mentioned this elsewhere but it feels relevant again in light of the most recent episode. Something that’s really fascinating to me about Orym’s grief in comparison to the rest of the hells’ grief is that his is the youngest/most fresh and because of that tends to be the most volatile when it is triggered (aside from FCG, who was two and obviously The Most volatile when triggered.)

As in: prior to the attack on Zephrah, Orym was leading a normal, happy, casual life! with family who loved him and still do! Grief was something that was inflicted upon him via Ludinus’ machinations, whereas with characters like Imogen or Ashton, grief has been the background tapestry of their entire lives. And I think that shows in how the rest of them are largely able to, if not see past completely (Imogen/Laudna/Chetney) then at least temper/direct their vitriol or grief (Ashton/Fearne/Chetney again) to where it is most effective. (There is a glaring reason, for example, that Imogen scolded Orym for the way he reacted to Liliana and not Ashton. Because Ashton’s anger was directed in a way that was ultimately protective of Imogen—most effective—and Orym’s was founded solely in his personal grief.)

He wants Imogen to have her mom and he wants Lilliana to be salvageable for Imogen because he loves Imogen. But his love for the people in his present actively and consistently tend to conflict with the love he has for the people in his past. They are in a constant battle and Orym—he cannot fathom losing either of them.

(Or, to that point, recognize that allowing empathy to take root in him for the enemy isn't losing one of them.)

It is deeply poignant, then, that Orym’s grief is symbolized by both a sword and shield. It is something he wields as a blade when he feels his philosophy being threatened by certain conversational threads (as he believes it is one of the only things he has left of Will and Derrig, and is therefore desperately clinging onto with both bloody hands even if it makes him, occasionally, a hypocrite), but also something he can use in defense of the people he presently loves—if that provocative, blade-grief side of him does not push them—or himself—away first.

(it won’t—he is as loved by the hells as he loves them. he just needs to—as laudna so beautifully said—say and hear it more often.)

(note: this is NOT me saying that they should be treated as or seen as adults as a result of this and is NOT me saying they're 100% on equal grounds. because they're children & absolutely should be acknowledged as children. however it's more like. yes, tim provide a lot of emotional support to the adults around him. it can be interesting to play with how that affected him (and i think it did) but also genre conceits do mean that you gotta swallow that it's not *quite* as harmful as it would be in real life because otherwise none of these people would be fit to do any sort of vigilantism.)

"Soulmates can't be an arophobic concept because they can be platonic" is not a take I thought I'd see but honestly I'm not surprised. Yes, a huge issue is that the way society views soulmates is a largely a romantic thing and the idea that "everyone has (a romantic) someone out there" is amatonormative bs and is arophobic. But extending it to "platonic soulmates exist too" doesn't fix or even address the actual problem. The fundamental assumption here is that there's someone for everyone regardless of whether it's romantic or platonic and that everyone must be connected to someone. How does making it platonic actually challenge amatonormativity? It honestly has the same feeling as "aro people aren't sad and lonely because they can have platonic partners!"

I'd like to be clear, people self-describing them and their partner(s) as soulmates isn't the issue here. That's on a personal level and that's fine. It's the assertion that everyone has a soulmate that is amatonormative.

That's the other major issue, there's usually the assertion that there is one soulmate per person which just completely throws polyam people under the bus. How is that challenging amatonormativity?
