Your heart dropped when Kie had mentioned Pope going out with another girl this upcoming weekend. She noticed your shift in behavior and she asked if you were okay but you just shrugged it off as being tired.
You just didn't want to tell Kie you were back on the Pope train again. You guys dated for a few months ago and you guys broke up because you thought you'd be better as friends. And now, you regret it.
It was going to be the year anniversary of your break-up and you still have feelings for Pope.
You were being selfish, you kept repeating to yourself. You had your chance and you lost it now. You have to let Pope move on even if you can't.
You can't risk hurting him again. You'd much rather hurt yourself than see the pained look on Pope's face when you broke up with him.
You and the Pogues were at yet another Boneyard party. It seemed like they were endless during the summer: one after the other, mistakes repeating all over again.
You were having fun with Sarah and Kie before you looked over and saw Pope dancing with the girl he was going to go out with later this week. That same jealous sickly feeling came over you and you'd stop interacting with the girls.
Sarah quickly noticed. "What's wrong?"
"Mmm, nothing." You sighed, making Kie furrow her eyebrows. She looked over to where you were looking and connected the dots in her head, Sarah quickly doing the same thing.
"Is it Pope?"
You looked surprised but you knew that they'd eventually figure it out. "Is it that obvious?"
Sarah was empathetic towards you, frowning along with you as Kie looked at you like you were crazy. Sarah rubbed your back comfortingly.
"You know that Pope would leave that girl for you, like two days ago, right?" Kie said like it was the most obvious thing in the world. You glared at her as she shrugged and raised her hands up in defense, "just speaking facts over here."
Sarah sighed. "She's right."
"You don't understand. I don't want to hurt Pope again."
"Then don't." Kie said simply. Kie was never wrong - I mean, would be that hard? But you still didn't want to risk it.
Sarah smiled as an idea popped in her head. "Why don't you go find a cute tourist and have a rebound for the week, maybe that'll help. It might also make him jealous so he'll come running back on his own!"
Kie shrugged, "Not a bad idea at all."
You nodded along with them. But you didn't want to. No one was ever going to measure up to Pope, no matter how hard you tried to find a replacement. "I don't know guys..."
Sarah looked behind you and smiled. "Look behind you! He's literally just your type, now go and talk to him!"
You turned around and saw a guy you found kinda cute. But you still had a bad feeling about this. Sarah pushed you slightly and you sighed and got up, making Kie and Sarah cheer. You rolled your eyes at your immature friends at you walked up to the guy.
He turned and smiled at you.
"Hey, do you want to go get a drink maybe?" You asked, shyly. It's been a few months since you've properly flirted so this was kind of a new experience.
"Sure! I'm Jordan."
You smiled, "I'm Y/N."
Pope turned around to look at where you were and he panicked a bit when he saw you weren't with Sarah and Kie. His eyes gazed through the crowd trying to find the bright pink top you were wearing; he couldn't miss it.
He then found you talking with another guy. He felt his heart drop. He knew that John B and JJ's plan wasn't going to work. Him making you 'jealous' wouldn't work if you didn't actually care but they insisted that you did. But now he knew he was right.
He excused himself from the girl and he started to walk alongside the beach, in thought.
He still liked you even after a year of you breaking up with him. He never truly got over you and now he's sure he never will. He was convinced you were his soulmate but he's not sure he's yours.
As you were dancing with Jordan, the awkward phase had just melted away and you easily could converse and joke around with him. But there was a nagging feeling something was just off.
It wasn't Jordan himself, you started to realize after you took a good look at him. He just wasn't Pope. No one was Pope and no one could ever replace him.
"Hey, do you want me to go freshen up our drinks?" Jordan asked, a smile hanging on his lips. You nodded as you took his.
"Yeah sure, I'll be right back."
As you refilling your cups, you saw Pope walk away from the bonfire and you decided that it wouldn't hurt to go talk to him. Maybe something happened with the girl?
You walked towards Pope, beers in hand. "Hey, you okay?"
He turned around, startled but relaxed once he realized it only you. "Yeah, yeah. Just tired."
You smiled. "We've all heard that before and I don't believe you. What happened?"
He stay silent.
"Did something happen with that... girl?" You tried your best to disguise your jealousy with concern. A friend-type of concern. I mean, that's what you and Pope are, just friends.
He shook his head at the mention of the girl. "No, it's just that..."
Maybe it was the alcohol speaking Pope was just going to rip the band aid off. What was the worst thing that could happen? Nothing could possibly hurt him more.
"Are you dating that guy?"
You were surprised at Pope's questions. Why did he care? Wasn't he dating that other girl? You furrowed your eyebrows; since when did he care for your love life? "I don't know, maybe it dep-"
You were cut off by a scoff. "Really, Y/N?"
"What do you mean, really?"
"Jordan? He's like the biggest asshole ever."
You rolled your eyes. "He's nice to me."
"Doesn't mean he's nice to everyone. Plus he's a Kook and like dickrides Rafe like the rest of 'em."
"I don't care if he's a Kook because I'm not shallow, Pope. He's nice to me and honestly that's all that matters. And why do you care, don't you have that girl?"
"I care because you're my friend... and I care about my friends." It hurt Pope to play it off like they were just friends but it hurt you more hearing it. This argument was supposed to prove that he was jealous and that Sarah's plan had worked.
"Sure." You sighed. "Okay, you're right."
Pope felt like a dick after saying that. You started to walk away before he shouted, "Wait."
You turned around. "You're more than a friend, okay? Is that what you want to hear?"
You paused. "Wait, what? Are you serious?"
He also paused, his eyes widening. Did he read the room wrong? Did he just singlehandedly embarrass himself in front of you?
You felt like you didn't hear him right. He still liked you? "You still like me?"
There was no way he was going to lie himself out of this one. He sighed, putting his hand on the bridge of his nose. "Yeah. I do. I have, for a while now. I never really... got over you."
You felt guilty for feeling a tiniest bit relieved that he had liked you. You've always thought he had gotten over you because of how easily he played it off. Pope was just masking up his real feelings.
"R-Really?"
Pope rolled his eyes. "Yes, I did. I do. I'm just going to keep walking now because I just embarassed myself and I don't wanna make this more awkward."
You shook your head. "I like you too. I haven't.. I never got over you and the only reason I broke up with you was because you needed someone better than me."
Pope was confused, but his heart hurt nonetheless because he made you feel that way. Even if he didn't, you still felt that way. Which was beyond crazy to him because you're the best he could ever get or want. You're his absolute dream girl, how could you feel that way?
He chucked, "You serious right now? There is no one better for me, you're all I want. You're my... my dream girl, Y/N."
Butterflies filled your stomach. "Really?"
He smiled. "Really."
You guys both were silent before a moment. Pope felt like he was on top of the world, he felt brave. He then slowly walked up to you and put a hand on your cheek as you looked up at him.
"Let me prove it to you." He whispered as he leaned in and planted a passionate kiss on your lips. It was slow at first but Pope needed more, fast.
JJ and John B had caught sight of this from the bonfire and gave each other a swift high five. "Another good plan, brotha."
John B nodded. "Pope's really lucky to have such good wingmen."
Sarah and Kie overheard them and rolled their guys. "They wish. They totally got together cus of us."
"Definitely." Sarah nodded.

“Any news on Natasha?” Katie asked, her voice thick, as Steve walked into the kitchen.
“Not yet.” He shook his head, as she reached over, adding bread to the toaster. “She was still working on a lead. How are you feeling?”
“Ok.” She lied. Behind her, Steve rolled his eyes.
“I can hear you wheezing from here. Go back to bed.”
“I don’t want to lie in bed.” She shrugged and he took a deep breath, crossing the room to stand behind her. It wasn’t often she got sick, but when she did she was a terrible patient.
“Sweetheart.” His arms circled her waist. “You’re burnt out and ill, and you certainly can’t go to the compound like this.”
He was right, Katie couldn’t actually remember the last time she felt so bad. She’d requested they leave the compound early last night as the group sat around discussing Tony’s plans to build their bigger Quantum Tunnel. She’d had a headache that she thought was a migraine, but had woken herself and Steve with a particularly nasty coughing fit in the early hours of the morning, whereby he’d gone to fetch her a glass of water and laid with her, rubbing her back until she fell asleep again.
“My plan was to actually lay on the sofa all day watching trash.” She shrugged, coughing a little.
“Ok, if that’s what you want.” he nodded, gently moving her so she was facing him. “Go, I’ll fix the kids breakfast. Do you want anything to eat?”
She shook her head, before letting rip with another hacking cough, her hand flying to her mouth as she turned away from him.
“C'mon,” he sighed, “c'mere.”
Katie practically fell into him when he wrapped his arms around her and she snuggled her head into his chest, her arms wrapping around his waist. “I’m fine,”
“You look like crap.”
“You’re mean.” She croaked out. He chuckled as he brought his hand up and pressed it against her forehead and she closed her eyes, he felt so cool.
“You have a fever. Did you take anything?”
She nodded “Tylenol and cough syrup.”
“Well go lay down until it kicks in.”
“Okay,” she finally relented, and Steve watched as she stepped out of his embrace and headed into the living room. The last time Steve had anything like a cold was pre the serum. He felt the odd sore throat and sniffle every now and then but as fast as they arrived they went thanks to his healing qualities. Jamie seemed to be the same. As a baby he picked up a few bugs but he was back to normal in a maximum of a day. There was one time a few months ago he had picked up a nasty cold that had lasted longer, making him even more of a mamma’s boy, clingy and grouchy. But after thirty-six hours he was back to his normal self, the half of him that held the super soldier serum clearly winning out. And Steve was glad, if the half of Jamie that was his father meant he rarely get sick, he’d passed something good onto his son. Emmy, on the other hand, was like Katie. No serum, so when she got sick she felt it more. And Katie was always on hand to look after her kids, even when she felt crappy herself. So when it fell to Steve to look after her, he was more than happy to do so.
“Is Mama sick?” Jamie asked, from where he was sat at the table, his face creased into a frown.
“Yeah she is, buddy.” Steve nodded, grabbing the toast as it popped up from the toaster, buttering it and cutting it into squares for his son. He placed it down in front of Jamie and then popped more in for himself. “Just a cold though, she’ll be fine.”
Steve left the kitchen for a moment, shouting up the stairs for Emmy to get a move on before returning and pouring himself a coffee and one into a Thermos mug for Emmy to take with her.  Apparently the ‘in thing’ now was to take her breakfast to eat on the way. Steve had no idea why, but whatever. When did he ever have a clue about anything that was on trend?
She bustled in, rucksack on her back and grabbed the toast he was holding out in a paper napkin and her mug.
“Thanks Dad.” She smiled, giving him a peck on the cheek.
“Your Mom’s in the lounge, she’s not feeling too good.” He looked at her. “So I know you wanted Brooke to come over tonight but it might be better to give it a miss.”
“Okay.” She nodded, “I can go to hers instead. Will you be here to give me a lift later if I come home and get some stuff?”
“Sure.” He nodded. She ruffled Jamie’s hair on her way past and then disappeared up the hall, and he was pleased to see she popped her head into the lounge to tell Katie to get better soon.
“Are we going to the compound?” Jamie asked as Steve sat down, his own breakfast now in front of him.
“You’re going to Day Care.” Steve looked at him. “You haven’t been in a while.”
“I don’t wanna.” Jamie pouted
“Well, suck it up.” Steve replied. It was important to him and Katie that their son interacted with kids his own age as much as possible, so even whilst Katie wasn’t going to work today, Jamie was going to nursery. “I’m staying home today. We can go to the compound at weekend. If your momma’s better maybe we can stay over.”
Jamie pondered this for a moment. “Okay.”
Steve chuckled and ruffled his son’s hair as the two of them ate their breakfast. Jamie requested a bowl of cereal once his toast was finished, and to be fair Steve was still hungry too so he made them both a helping of Cheerios before he cleaned Jamie down and got him dressed. Once that was done he popped his head into the lounge and saw Katie was asleep under one of the throws.
“You got everything?” He looked at Jamie, quickly checking him over. He had his small rucksack in his hands, his jumper was on and he was clean. Looked good to Steve.
“Yep!” Jamie nodded enthusiastically.
“Alright, come on then.” Steve held out his hand, and Jamie slipped his little palm into his Dad’s as he opened the door and they made their way to the car.
*****
“Why is it so cold?” Katie groaned, pulling the comforter round her as she shuffled into the kitchen.
“It’s not cold, you’re just sick.” Steve pulled the orange juice out of the fridge, pouring her a giant glass. He handed it to her, raising his hand to her forehead. “You’re still warm.”
“No, I told you, I’m freezing.”
Steve was about to say something when they heard the security system telling them Tony had arrived.
“Why is Tone here?” Katie asked, coughing again.
“Dunno.” Steve shrugged. “I told him I wasn’t going to the compound today as you were sick so maybe he’s come to see how you are.”
“Bit out of his way.” Katie pondered, as the front door opened.
“Knock knock.” Her brother’s voice called up the hallway.
“Kitchen Tony.” Steve called back.
“Just thought I’d see how the patient was,” Tony’s voice rang out down the hallways and Katie rolled her eyes, “so far so good, I see no red cross on the door telling everyone to stay away or any one walking outside chanting bring out your dead…”
At that point he walked into the kitchen and nodded to Steve before he turned to Katie. “Huh, maybe there should be. You look like shit.”
She was pale, her hair was pulled into a messy pony tail and her nose was bright red. She opened her mouth to shoot some comment back about being pissed off with people telling her she looked terrible but was cut off by a fit of hacking coughs.
“I’m dying.” She groaned.
“From a cold?”  Tony rolled his eyes.
“I feel like it.” She mumbled.
Steve chuckled and stirred the soup in the pan.
“Smells good, Spangles!” Tony looked round him to glance down. “What is it.”
“Chicken soup, my Ma’s own recipe. Plenty if you want some.” Steve offered.
“No, it’s mine and I don’t like people taking my stuff.” Katie pouted, childishly. “That soup makes everything better.”
“Don’t be a brat.” Steve shot her a look.
“I’m ill, don’t shout at me.” She shot back, coughing again. Steve pointed to the orange juice that she had set down on the side and the Tylenol next to it.
“Drink that, and take that.” He instructed. “And then back to the couch.”
“You’re not my dad.” She glared at him, sullenly. Steve took a deep breath and bristled, Jesus she was obstinate.
“No, but I am, well, by default.” Tony eyed her. “Do as you’re told.”
She gave Tony a look that was positively mutinous, staring directly into his brown eyes before she reached over, took two pills from the packet, tossed them down with a swallow of juice and flipped him off.
“I guess I’ll be on the couch.” She grumbled, retreating out of the kitchen.
“Thanks.” Steve sighed once she was gone, and Tony chuckled.
“She was a nightmare as a kid when she got sick.” He mused, leaning back against the counter.
“She still is. Insists on trying to keep going instead of resting.”
“You know, when she was ten she got a nasty bout of tonsillitis.” Tony stepped over to grab the coffee from the cupboard. “It turned into something called Quinsy and she ended up hospitalised as one of them burst and she needed them removing under emergency surgery. They were worried about blood poisoning.” Tony paused to top the machine up with coffee and he grabbed the glass jug from underneath. “She demanded to come home the next day even though she was on some heavy duty IV anti-biotics, full scale tantrum when she was told she had to stay in for four days.”
Steve snorted as Tony filled the machine with water and turned it on.
“So trying to carry on when she has a cold is nothing.” Tony looked at him. “Just tell her whose boss.”
The men exchanged a look, both of them fully understanding that Steve was most definitely not the boss before they laughed and Tony clapped him on the shoulder, moving to make the coffee.
“So, Pepper is coming to the compound for the rest of the week” Tony poured himself a drink before he did the same and handed it to Steve. “I was wondering if you wanted me to take Jamie off your hands for the evening, Morgan will be pleased to see him.”
Steve hesitated for a second, as he took a sip of his coffee. He was still torn as to whether the compound really was the best place for the kids. But, the living area was far enough away from any of the equipment, and Emmy had lived there before…
“Don’t worry, I won’t turn him into a teenager.” Tony spotted the flicker of doubt that flashed across Steve’s face.
“No, it’s not that, I trust you Tony, I-” Steve began, feeling that he needed to explain but Tony waved him away.
“I know, and believe me I wasn’t sure I wanted Morgan there but I haven’t seen her since Monday.”
“You know, you don’t have to be at the Compound permanently.” Steve turned the heat down on the stove.
“I know but it’s just easier.” Tony shrugged. “Especially whilst we’re still building the stuff.”
Steve nodded and began to pull three bowls out of the cupboard “Okay, well yeah I’m sure Jamie would like that.”
“Great, I can get him on the way back, I’m assuming he’s at the tower?”
Steve glanced at the clock on the wall. It was only half two but there was no time limits on when he could be collected from Nursery. “Yeah he is, I’ll call ahead, let them know you’re picking him up.”
Tony clapped his hands together. “Great.”
“Let me get this to the patient and then you can fill me in on what’s been going on.” Steve said, picking up a bowl of the soup and a spoon.
****
Katie’s cold lasted three full days. On the fourth night, she had another restless sleep. Not wanting her constant tossing and turning to wake Steve, she headed down stairs, took another dose of Tylenol and turned on the TV, snuggling under the blanket on the sofa. She felt like crap. Luckily the medicine kicked in about fifteen minutes later and she managed to fall asleep, Lucky curled around her legs, keeping her feet warm. When she woke later that morning, she was pleased to find she felt a lot clearer headed and she didn’t ache when she moved which was a bonus.
“You look better.” Steve smiled as she wandered into the kitchen. He’d left her asleep on the couch when he’d seen her earlier that morning, the kids were still in bed seeing as it was weekend.
“I feel it.” she nodded, running her hands through her hair “I’m starving.”
Her appetite being back was a good thing.
“Want me to fix you anything?” Steve asked.
“Eggs and bacon.” she said enthusiastically “I’m gonna grab a shower.”
“Good I can smell you from here.” he teased, laughing as she raised a middle finger which she held up over her shoulder as she walked out of the kitchen. The shower made her feel even better, and once she was dressed in actual clothes and not Pyjamas she felt human again.
She devoured her breakfast, drank another large glass of orange juice and Steve filled her in on what was going on at the Compound. Natasha was still tracking Clint, the Quantum Tunnel Machine was well under construction, Thor, well, Thor seemed to still be a little distracted but he was engaging as much as could be expected and they’d started designs on suits that would help them navigate the Quantum Realm.
“Has anyone given any thought to how we actually get the stones?” Katie asked, a small cough escaping her.
“I’ve been thinking about it a bit.” Steve nodded. “There are a number of possibilities. But trying to get them individually instead of all at once is likely going to be the best bet.”
“How’s that going to work?” She pondered and Steve shrugged.
“To be honest, I haven’t got that far.” He sighed, and Katie dropped the subject.
They headed over to the compound in the late morning, and immediately Katie and Steve spotted the Quinjet was back. They shared a glance, knowing that could only mean one thing and, as quickly as they could, they got the kids out of the car and headed inside. As they made their way towards the main lounge, Katie heard a familiar voice and she felt her chest tighten. Letting go of Steve’s hand, she broke into a run and burst into the room. Everyone in there turned to face her as she stood, stock still, staring at her one time Senior Officer.
“Clint…” She whispered, before she threw herself at him, hugging him tight.
“Hey, Katie.” he croaked as she buried her face into his neck, his arms wrapping around her, squeezing her into a strong hug.
“Hey yourself.” She sniffled slightly as she stepped back, before she grinned and ran her hand over the shorn sides of his hair. “Nice Mohawk.”
He chuckled and then his attention turned to Steve “Hey, Cap.”
“Hey Clint.” Steve smiled, stepping forward to embrace his friend. “It’s good to see you.”
“You too.” Clint smiled, before he glanced down to Steve’s right where Jamie was now tugging on his hand.
“Daddy, who’s this?” He asked as Steve picked him up.
“Jamie, this is Clint. A friend of mine and your mom’s.” Steve smiled.
“And this is Emmy.” Katie said from behind him. Emmy gave him a smile that was a little shyer than Jamie’s as Clint nodded to her.
“Pleased to meet you both. I heard a lot about you from Natasha.”
“Auntie Nat-Nat gives me chocolate.” Jamie grinned. “But I’m not upposed to tell anyone where she keeps it.”
“She used to give my kids chocolate.” Clint smiled, sadly.  “Even when I told her not to.”
Silence fell across the room, no one really knowing what to say to that. Clint took a deep breath and looked down at his feet, until Katie spoke, breaking the tension.
“Shall I fix lunch?” She offered and the team all made noises of agreement and started to move around. Clint smiled at her, and then looked at the boy in Steve’s arms. .
“He looks like you, Cap.” He nodded. Steve smiled and looked at Jamie.
“Apparently so.”
“I think it’s great you guys, you know, that you’re parents.” Clint smiled at Katie. She returned the grin.
“Yeah, it has its moments.” She watched as Steve set Jamie down and he wandered over to Natasha, who beamed at him as he clambered into her lap.
“Especially when dealing with stroppy teenagers.” Steve quipped looking at Emmy who rolled her eyes.
“Change the record, Dad.”
“Note she said record, not CD old man.” Tony shot.
“It’s just a figure of speech.” Steve rolled his eyes “And for the record, I wish you’d change yours too.”
Clint looked around and caught Katie’s eye, a fond, nostalgic look on his face. And she knew why. It was almost as if nothing had changed. The banter was familiar, each person taking up their role they had held in the Avengers easily, as if the last seven years hadn’t happened. But then, looking around the room was enough to make you remember that they had. They looked different, felt different. They’d split, gone their separate ways and then the Snap had ripped everything from under them, and none of them had lost as much as Clint.
Katie smiled. “Wanna come help with lunch?” She asked softly, as he hastily wiped a tear from his face.
“Yeah,” he nodded. The pair of them made for the door and she turned to Steve who shot her a smile, before she led Clint towards the kitchen.
“Thanks.” He muttered as they left the room. They walked silently until they reached the kitchen and Katie shut the door as she walked to the fridge pulling out various ingredients to make a huge pan of stuff for fajitas.
“So,” she turned to Clint, handing him a knife, “you chop veg, I’ll do the chicken.”
He smiled softly. “You sound like Laura.”
“Clint, I’m so sorry.” Katie sighed. “I’ve no words that can even pretend to offer a comfort. I can’t begin to imagine-”
“Natasha told me about your baby.” Clint cut her off as he looked at her. She looked down at the chopping board before meeting his eyes. “You lost too.”
“Yeah, we did.” She sighed “We all lost someone.”
“Bet you didn’t go on a killing spree because of it.” Clint sighed, taking a deep breath.
“Clint,” Katie took a deep breath. “Yeah, what you did wasn’t…great, but you can’t let it define you.”
Clint stayed silent for a moment before Katie spoke again. “Steve killed someone you know. In cold blood. One of the HYDRA guys that kept me captive and, well, you know what they did.”
Clint let out a growl. “I don’t blame him, I’d have put an arrow in his head if it had been Laura.”
“That’s my point.” Katie shrugged. “Something like that tipped Captain America, the sentinel of justice and truth-” she framed her words with her fingers making quotation marks and Clint snorted “-over the edge. Someone as morally correct as Steve snapped because of something someone did to me. He didn’t do it to protect me, he did it for out and out revenge.”
“That’s not the same-”
“Maybe not.” Katie shrugged. “But the point I’m trying to make, albeit very badly, is that people react to trauma in different ways.”
“It was anger.” Cling spoke after a moment. “Anger and bitterness that they died and all these assholes didn’t. I wanted to even the scales a little myself. Why did they get to live and my family didn’t?”
“Exactly. You went through the most awful thing ever.” Katie laid a hand on Clint’s arm. “It might not make it right, but it makes it a little more understandable. Certainly from my point of view.” At that she returned to her chopping, with a little shake of her head. “If anything happened to either of my kids, I’d lose it too.”
“That implies you had it to lose in the first place.” Clint quipped, cheekily. She looked up and she was pleased to see the mischievous Barton glint had returned to his eyes.
****
As Tony reminded them all, whilst they had a working Quantum Tunnel, building that into something bigger to do what they needed to do was going to take time. Everyone understood, even if it was frustrating, but as Katie kept pointing out, they’d waited five years for this, what was a couple of months more?
Those months Katie and Steve spent flitting between the Compound, Stark Tower, their home in Brooklyn and Tony’s lake house, trying to manage the time between Emmy’s exams, ensuring the kids were looked after during the school vacation, keeping a business going and maintaining as normal a life for Emmy and Jamie as possible.
But then, one Wednesday morning in late September, Tony let out a triumphant yell. They were ready.
With Emmy and Jamie both safely out of the way- Emmy back at school, and Jamie in Day Care- they decided on taking their test that same afternoon. The goal was simple, go back in time for a minute or so, pick something up, see if it could be brought back. Katie and Steve followed Tony through the hangar as he was dragging the metal pipe which contained the power cables they had just helped him arrange into the mains which would fire up the machine. In front of them, Thor was walking, drinking a beer as usual, dressed in a scruffy pair of grey sweats and a red hooded top.
“Drifting left!” Tony warned the God. “On the side there, Lebowski”
Katie snorted at the reference. “Makes a change from Point Break.” she said, and Steve grinned.
“Ratchet, how’s it going?”  Tony called.
Rocket looked up from where he had been working on something underneath the glass platform “It’s Rocket. Take it easy. You’re only a genius on Earth, pal”
Tony stopped and grinned, catching Katie’s eye, passing the cable to Rocket and giving the raccoon instructions on where to plug each wire.
“Okay so where’s Lang?” Steve asked, looking around.
“In the chamber having his suit calibrated.” Nat looked up from the tablet she was poking around on. The machine lit up, and Tony stepped back and looked at her. “So far the fluctuation levels are holding.” She nodded and Tony grinned.
“You say it like you’re surprised, Red.” He shot back. She merely smirked to herself, tapping again.
“I’ll go see if they’re ready.” Katie nodded.
“Hey, hey, hey! Easy, easy!” She could hear Scott’s voice as she approached the side chamber in the lab.
“I’m being very careful” Banner replied
 “No, you’re being very Hulky”
 “I’m being careful.”
She reached the doorway where Clint was leaning against the frame, and looked at him. He shot her a smirk as she turned her attention to Lang who was holding up a small, red glass tube.
“These are Pym Particles, alright? And ever since Hank Pym got snapped out of existence, this is it. This is what we have. We’re not making any more.”
“Scott, calm down.” Rhodey soothed, looking at him.
“Sorry.” Scott said, “But we’ve only got enough for one round trip each. That’s it. No do-overs. Plus two test runs.”
At that, with a yell, he shrank and then grew again back to his normal size after accidentally pressing a button. Katie let out a groan as she looked at Clint.
“One test run.” she shot, turning to Lang.
“All right. I’m not ready for this.” Scott shook his head and Katie noticed the slightly panicked look in his face. Before she could say anything else, however, Clint spoke softly.
“I’m game.” He nodded as everyone turned to him. “I’ll do it.
There was a moment’s pause before Katie grinned, clapping him on the shoulder. “Suit up then, Hawkeye.”
Clint and Lang switched places, and Bruce handed him one of the GPS controllers. Instantly the same suit Lang was wearing formed round Clint as Lang deactivated his, grabbing his baseball cap from the floor.
“Wai-wait a second, let me ask you something.” Rhodey spoke, his tone making it clear this was something he had been thinking about for a while. “If we can do this, you know, go back in time, why don’t we just find baby Thanos, you know, and…” He made a hand gesture suggesting he was strangling something.
“First of all that’s horrible.” Bruce spoke in a disgusted voice.
“It’s Thanos.” Rhodey shrugged, simply and Katie had to agree. If that as a plan would work, she had no problems in going back and being the one to choke the life out of him. Infant or no infant.
“And secondly, time doesn’t work that way. Changing the past doesn’t change the future.” Bruce continued.
“Look.” Scott nodded.  “We go back, we get the stones before Thanos gets them, Thanos doesn’t have the stones. Problem solved.”
“Bingo.” Clint agreed.
“That’s not how it works.” Katie shook her head.
“She’s right.” Nebula added. “It’s not.”
“Well, that’s what I heard.” Clint shrugged.
“What? By who? Who told you that?” Bruce sighed.
Rhodey held up his hand, counting with his fingers as he spoke. “Star Trek, Terminator, TimeCop, Time After Time…”
“A Wrinkle in Time, Somewhere in Time.” Rhodey continued.
“Hot Tub Time Machine” Scott added.
“Hot Tub Time Machine. Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. Basically, any movie that deals with time travel.” Rhodey looked around.
“Die Hard?” Scott asked, before he frowned. “No, that’s not one.”
“This is known.” Rhodey finished.
“I don’t know why everyone believes that, but that isn’t true.” Banner said, earnestly “Think about it: If you travel to the past, that past becomes your future. And your former present becomes the past. Which can’t now be changed by your new future.”
“Exactly.” Nebula added.
“So ‘Back To The Future’ is a bunch of bullshit?” Scott asked, with the air of a small child whom someone had just told Santa didn’t exist.
“Afraid so.” Katie looked at him. “Furthermore, there’s a theory that Tony alluded to when he mentioned the Deutsch proposition. If you alter an event in the past you create an alternate universe and timeline as a result. You don’t change yours.”
“Which is why I think we’re gonna have to put the stones back when we’re done.” Bruce mused. “But we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.” He tapped a final button and then stood up. “Okay, that’s it.”
“Ready?” Katie looked at Clint.
He nodded “Let’s get this show on the road.”
*****
“Lang had an attack of nerves when he accidentally used up one lot of Pym Particles” Katie explained as Steve looked at Clint, confused as to why he was the one in the Quantum Suit on the platform in the middle of the hangar.
“Wait, he used them?” Steve frowned.
“Yeah, so now we only have one test run. But Clint says he’s up for it.” She looked at Tony who opened his mouth to say something, and shook her head. He took a deep breath, simply shrugging as Steve turned to Clint.
“All good?” He asked, and Clint gave him the thumbs up.
“Alright, Clint.” Banner looked at him. “We’re going in three… two… one!”
The helmet sprang forth onto Clint’s head from his suit and he was sucked down through the platform into the Quantum Realm.
“Returning in five…four…three…two…one!”
The portal opened again and Clint re-materialised on the glass platform, breathing heavily.
Natasha was first up the steps, taking his face in her hands “Hey, hey, look at me. You okay?”
He waved off her concern, but that wasn’t what Steve was looking at. It was the baseball glove in his hands. Clint tossed it to Tony who caught it, slapping it slightly into his hand, a look of victory on his face.
It worked.
“Cap?” Tony turned to Steve and he realised that everyone was looking to him for directions.
“We need to plan carefully where we go.” He cleared his throat, taking a deep breath and letting it out. “I suggest we start first thing in the morning.”
****
“Em,” Steve spoke as the family sat down to dinner later that evening. “You know we’ve been doing a lot of work at the compound?”
He looked at Emmy, who nodded. After swearing her to secrecy, they’d explained everything to her when they had first started, both of them believing she was old enough to know the truth, and they respected her too much to keep anything from her.
“Has it worked? Did Tony build it?”
“Yeah, and we think that we should probably move to the compound, just until this is all over. We’ll still make sure you get to school and stuff, we don’t want any of this to impact anything for either of you.” He looked at her. She took a deep breath, but it wasn’t her who spoke next, It was Jamie.
“Can I bring my toys? And Lucky?”
“I think Clint would really like to see him again.” Katie smiled. Clint’s reunion with the dog a few weeks ago would have melted even the coldest of hearts. Lucky had been overjoyed to see his old master, and Clint had buried his face into the animal’s fur, sobbing quietly. Jamie had been indignant that the dog was paying more attention to Clint than him, but that had all changed when Jamie had called his name and Lucky had run back to his side, licking him furiously. Katie had explained to Clint that the two had a very strong bond and Clint had smiled, stating that the animal had loved Nathaniel as well. He was simply happy someone had taken care of him.
“He’s my dog.” Jamie pouted and Steve snorted, shooting Katie a look.
“Someone else doesn’t like people touching their stuff.” he muttered, grimacing as Katie kicked him in the shin “Ow!”
*****
“You know, we’re gonna have problems if Clint wants to take that dog back.” Steve said as they lay in bed later that night.
“I’m hoping he won’t” Katie sighed. “I mean he’s twelve this year, I’m sure Clint will be happy to let stay seeing as he’s older now.”
“Oh is that how it works?” Steve asked, his hand moving through her hair. “The older you are, the more people want to keep you settled?”
“Why else do you think I kept you around for so long?” Katie shrugged.
“That’s just rude, Mrs Rogers.” Steve looked at her and she grinned as she pressed a kiss to his lips.
“Suppose you have other uses.” She smirked against his lips.
“Really, what might they be?” He asked, in between kisses as she straddled him, his hands creeping up the t-shirt she was wearing and resting on her hips.
“Not sure now you come to mention it?” She wrinkled her nose, wriggling slightly against his crotch, making him grunt. “You might need to remind me.”
Steve simply pushed his hips upwards and Katie groaned softly as his arousal pressed up against her spot. Steve’s hand moved from her hip up to the back of her neck, pulling her down into a deep kiss that had the pair of them wanting far more. Steve hungrily pulled her top over her head, sitting up, running his nose up and down her sternum in between the lines of her breasts. Katie’s head fell back slightly as she bit her lip, relishing the feeling of his skin on hers as his lips traced a path from her jaw line to her neck.
“Remembered yet?” He muttered, breath hot on her ear as she let out another soft whimper.
“Not quite.” She teased. In a flash he had her on her back, and was kissing down the length of her body, nose skimming the waist band of her underwear before he hooked a finger into each side and pulled the garment down her legs. Hands on her knees he gently moved he legs further apart and grinned at the sight of her arousal.
“Liar.” He mumbled, setting his mouth to her.
Her soft, breathy moans soon filled their room as his tongue worked her over, his right hand placed over her stomach to anchor her into place. He would never get tired of this, hearing her, feeling her as she came undone, her back arching off the bed, knees gripping at the side of his head. He snuck a glance upwards and had to chuckle slightly as she had a pillow pressed over her face to muffle her noises. As she flattened back down, he dispensed of his boxers, crawling back over her, gently removing the item from her face.
“You okay?” He asked with a trace of amusement. She glanced up at him, smiling and laughed as she drew her breath.
“You know, one other thing about going back to the compound,” she chuckled as he pressed against her, giving her another kiss, “the walls to our room are soundproof so there’s no-“
He cut her off as he pushed into her harshly, causing her eyes to close and her breath to catch. He continued to thrust, slowly, powerfully. Watching her face as he did so.
“Eyes on me, Doll.” He managed a low growl and she bit down on her lip, before her jaw slacked slightly and he saw her brow crease just as it always did when she was about to tip over that precipice, riding that fine line between pain and pleasure.
“Come on, Kitten.” He panted, his hips continuing. “Let go…”
And she did, she came hard as her hands wrapped around his biceps, nails digging into his skin as Steve chased his own end furiously, coming with a violent final thrust, his head buried in the crook of her shoulder.
They lay in silence for a while, Katie falling asleep way before Steve. The Soldiers brain was running on overdrive analysing the day. Their machine worked, the test run had been a success, but he knew the hard work was only just beginning. They had to suss out when and where to go to get the stones, and then there was actually doing it. That was going to be the hardest part of all. Then, they faced even more engineering to develop something to harness them, and, maybe the biggest question of all, deciding who was going to snap their fingers.
He glanced down at his wife, her long eyelashes laying against her cheek as she slept. She looked so peaceful.  With a soft sigh he kissed the top of her head and lay back, eyes closed, the warmth of her body soothing him slightly as he felt the tendrils of tiredness pulling him under.

Hey Kina!! any advice about the LSAT exam you could provide? I’m about to graduate as well, and I haven’t taken the LSAT yet QQ, I’m starting to study now and planning to take it August. I’m in Canada I’m hoping to get a response by December after I finish my application in Oct.
LG and reading comp. literally traumatize me with the time limit and I feel so burnt out whenever I look at the books and plan my time for how many hours i need to study a week. I’m only really only a week in and my head pounds.
I would really appreciate the advice! I’m an absolute fan of all of your stories, i don’t know how you manage to juggle writing with school and upcoming graduation, what a god 🤯
you give me too much credit but hell yes I have advice regarding the LSAT. That exam is really something and it feels like I’ve went to hell and back so I’m happy to help others however I can with it.
I’ll break this answer down with my experience and then my recommendation.
Experience: I started studying for the LSAT six months before I took it. I went in completely blind and started with practice test LSAT 40 and scored about 143. ofc I timed it. When you take the practice exams, you have to simulate actual testing conditions as best as you can, so that means printing it out and doing it with the timing restrictions. The first 3 LSAT tests I did I scored in the 140s.
I gradually improved and hit the 150s range. At first I did the entire test in one sitting (with breaks ofc) but it’s so time consuming that I started just doing one section a day. But on Saturdays, I did one entire practice test and on Sundays I would mark that + go through it. So on average, I did 2 practice tests a week.
But then disaster struck when I was stuck in the 150s.
From practice LSAT 43-70 no matter how much I went through it, how much I studied, I could not break into the 160s that I needed. At best I could maybe get 159, but typically I was scoring 155. Which clearly isn’t enough. I started to panic. I knew I needed to do something different.
So I picked up The Loophole by Ellen Cassidy. During that time, I didn’t do any practice tests whatsoever. I stopped doing LSAT and went through the book a chapter a day. And while it’s focused in LR, a few chapters really helped me out with reading comp. I think there’s 14 chapters (if I remember correctly) so it took me around 2 weeks to go through it. Maybe I should’ve slowed down but I was running out of time. But the book helped me break into the 160s. I loved it.
I was pretty happy and relieved and from LSAT 70ish-89, I was scoring from 160-169 with an average of 164.
COVID was a thing by then so the LSAT was online. I had saved the two practice tests they have online and practiced with those and when the day came, I did it in a quiet space without any interruption. I ended up with a 160.
A bit of a bummer considering I was scoring 164 consistently before that but it’s good enough, I can’t really complain. I decided not to re-take it.
Recommendation: Honestly if I had to recommend to someone how to approach the LSAT, I’d tell them to take the first 3 LSAT practice tests blind w/o any knowledge of what it is and without any prior textbook reading. Learn by doing it and get the gist of what it’s about.
After the first 3 LSAT practice tests, pick up The LSAT Trainer by Mike Kim. I don’t have experience with it personally but I’ve heard great things about it from others. ((For me - I thought I didn’t need textbooks and I could study completely on my own but that was very dumb. I honestly wish I had more time, I would’ve picked this book up + the Loophole sooner)).
After completing The LSAT trainer (try to do it in a month? to not waste time? if possible). Then do a few more LSAT practice tests. I’d say 5 of them?
After that, pick up The Loophole. Do that within a month. Then just keep rolling with the LSAT practice tests.
The most recent practice test released is your holy grail. That will be the test most similar to the actual test you will receive so make sure you save that one but make it one of your last tests. For me that was LSAT 89 (or 90?) but there might’ve been newer ones by now. There’s no point in studying LSAT 1-39 because they’re so old that it won’t be that similar to what you’ll take.
ALTERNATIVELY - Sign up for 7sage. I know loooots of people do that. Don’t really know how it works since I haven’t used it but it’s advantageous if your LSAT will be online since 7sage is also online.
I’d still pick up those two books I mentioned above tho.
Other Recommendations - LSAT is sooo time consuming that your whole day is basically consumed by it. Not to mention you have to mark it and learn your mistakes afterwards. Look into doing a timed section a day? That’s only 35 mins so it becomes wayyy more manageable.
Also take marking very seriously. You learn just as much from what you did right and wrong as actually doing the timed section.
Another note, make a whole schedule to manage yourself. I made a google document on what I was going to do every single day. What section. What practice exam. What chapter of what textbook. Plan it all and then by the end when you have the plan, you’ll feel a lot more comforted. Like wow it’s not thatttt much + as long as I follow through with this and do a little a day, I’ll make it.
One more thing - take the exam when you start consistently scoring what you want to score. If you want to score in the 160s and you’ve been hitting that mark for the past 5-10 exams, you are probably ready. If you study too much, that’s a bad thing too. You want that sweet spot timing before you’re burnt out.
Also take breaks. Schedule them in. One day breaks. It’s easy to be burnt out.
((I got most of my practice tests for free btw on b-ok.cc)).
Now I’ll be a bit more specific in my advice....
LR - The Loophole helped me a lot with LR. Also I did a lot of LR practice questions and I naturally started to pick up on patterns. But this section fluctuated a lot for me. Sometimes I did well, sometimes I did poorly.
underline the ones you’re unsure about and move on. it’s better to just go back if you have time in the end then wasting time dwelling on it when you could be getting others right.
Reading Comp - At the beginning I fluctuated a lot with this section. But the first chapter of the Loophole really helped me improve and break down readings. The sentences in reading comps are very long winded and purposely written poorly, so keep that in mind. Just read slowly and soak in as much as you can the first time. I was never a fan of the advice of reading it over twice. It felt like a waste of time. Instead, the first time, as you read, try to guess what might be important or a question and underline it. That helped me.
Games - My favourite section and the section that you can most easily improve on. Just do a lot of practice games and then watch the videos on how others do it. Once you master a game style, you’ll know how to replicate it in the future.
for some reason timing started to become an issue for me later on in the games section in spite of having improved on it, but I realized it was because I was dwelling and double checking when I didn’t need to.
In general: LSAT is a super interesting test as it’s unlike any other test. It’s not dependent on information that you’re supposed to know. It’s not studying info and being asked questions on it. It’s not regurgitation. It’s not memorization. And in that way, ANYONE can improve. It’s a test you can learn. So don’t lose hope!!
And good luck!
((edit - some things I forgot to mention. I tried to pick up Powerscore but their system was so complicated, I zoned out. some folks like the book tho. I’d still recommend the Loophole. also I hope this doesn’t make me seem like a know it all and that this is wayyyy too difficult - I literally started crying once while taking a timed exam. the test is stressful so its ok its understandable to have a breakdown. i sure did lol. so give yourself a break if you start getting stressed.))

Any Graham/MC friendship headcanons?
OR
Carl/MC relationship headcanons if the other one is too difficult?x
Graham/MC friendship
Probably has him under “fishman ham 🎣” in their contacts — or at least I would lol
idk there wasn’t much interaction in the house since they weren’t each other’s type therefore there was little social to no scenes (which I think is kinda dumb because you can still be friends with someone if you don’t choose to go the romantic route yet he’s not that much of a fan fav so maybe that’s why? They also had a lot of characters so maybe that’s it too? Anyways) unless mc was going after marisol or considered a friend of hers? I’m not too sure on the still carrying feelings towards marisol if she’s with graham route so that’s based off pure assumption
If mc did start a friendship while he was with marisol and they still had feelings towards marisol then it wouldn’t happen until some months after the show or when/if marisol broke up with him (I made it canon that ultimately they do split but yeah)
so let’s say mc began a friendship while he’s dating marisol and mc has no romantic feelings towards marisol then?
They’d probably bond over some shit-talking cause I view graham as someone who can and WILL talk his shit
Mc and graham are on different time lengths majority of the time since graham is always up at the crack of ass out on his boat to snatch the catch of the day
He sends selfies on his boat—again at the crack of ass
“lemme know if you find aquaman! B safe uglie”
“i AM YOUR own personal gorgeous aquaman 😏 x”
“Don’t ever disrespect Jason momoa again in ur life !!!”
“U disrespect my wife Wunmi Mosaku”
“No I disrespect YOU. She doesn’t want u.”
“She wnted Jordan Patrick smith on tht show.”
“🥱🤫🖐🏽...I don’t blame her but only if he has the beard.”
“yew n ur got damn beards 😒”
Loves his seafood...I think that’s a given
“Can we eat something else, please!”
“...My Omama (grandmother) made her famous dressed crab.”
I decided against making hcs of graham before along with some others but ultimately thought he be of German background?
Not the greatest at speaking but understands the spoken language and ofc the curse words and insults are his favs + teaches mc some
I feel like he’s rough handed and has no issue bumping hips, elbowing, and putting mc into headlocks—basically treating his bestie like anyone of his bros really but he does that with anyone (including his omama, who laughs sending a punch with her knuckles against his forearm. It’s more of a gentle firm grip but they do this in greeting?)
Has no issue lugging mc around like some fish in a net?
like if there’s a severe rainstorm in his hometown of Devon and mc is the type to hate rain and they have a long way to get back to the car after hanging on the sandy beach all day, he’ll throw them over his shoulder like it’s nothing and stalk his way back up the cliffs to get back muttering “I’m getting real sick of Der mist!”
“Blah blah blah, you love me. Kiss my arse.”
“I could drop you on ya head, I’m sure that’s happened before.”
Then comes the hits, pinches, and jabs
Convinces mc to get random tattoos that he may or may not have doodled when they’re drunk off their asses
The next morning, “graham...what the f—
“Ah, now you look like me!” He ruffles mc’s hair from behind as they’re staring at their reflection in horror, “except I’d never get face tatts.” He whistles in slight disapproval
Mc might have to choke him and ask Gary to help dispose of the body in the ocean
Mc helps trim his beard instead since they almost cut off the entire patch left on top of his head “you look a bit like a beet or a mandrake from Harry Potter. Just cut the shit off or grow it all out, you’re embarrassing me.”
“Whatever happened to my body, my choice?”
“...that doesn’t apply to you. I’m your friend, I love you, and I’m trying to help you.”
“Oh, Piss off!”
Lots of middle fingers are used and hugs
Messy car, messy office, the only thing that’s neat is his hair/beard and his work ethic when it comes to the fish
He’s comes to mc when marisol dumps him and he’s hammered so that either = mad af or sad as hell sometimes it’s a little bit of both depending on how much he’s had
“Who do I have to fight? Or do you want to hug it out?”
“I kinda wanna slow dance to snow patrol.”
And you know it’s bad when graham openly wants to listen to snow patrol in the early afternoon instead of jelly roll or some shit
Hey, whatever the heartbroken fisherman wants he gets. That’s mc’s bud so they do what they can to make graham feel best...even if that means stepped on toes—He’s not the best dancer
I do get single dad vibes from him or at least uncle graham, he’s got a 3 year old son/nephew named Roy and he speaks so highly of the mother of his child/nephew who struggles with addiction but he’s on extremely good terms with her family
You adore Roy, who much like his daddy/uncle loves the water and sailboats
Mc will post captions about how thankful they are to have met graham due to some mess of a reality tv show whereas graham will post embarrassing pics that he secretly took of them and say things like “mc suxx a lot of the time 💘
“Text me when you get home bitch!” Type of friend too, cause if he can send you selfies so early in the day that he’s on the water at work then mc can txt him to let him know that they’re home after a night out, coming from work, etc...if they both are aware that the other was out

A bit more for that modern fantasy au I teased a bit ago
Character designs n stuff are slightly based off the official halloween n fantasy ending arts, plus whatever else I wanted to do, so Kiri is a dragon shifter here, Baku is a werewolf, n Ochako is a witch.
There'll probably be a hint of a/b/o dynamics here for weres n shifters, n the idea of alpha!Kiri n alpha!Baku has stuck to me like glue, so that's a thing here also
There's no real plot for this, just these three being dumb n pining, and everyone around them rolling their eyes n dealing with it lmao
I've thought about jobs n first meetings tho, n came up with this. Kiri's a firefighter (along with Tetsu, who is also a dragon shifter, bc I love him and their bro-bond), bc big fire resistent boy running into fires to help people just makes sense. Also I really like the thought of him in the uniform
Ochako works as a self defense instructor with Gunhead at a small gym in town, probably helping people with magic items n stuff on the side for extra cash or smth, I dunno. She might wanna move into a more magically dominant field one day, but she likes the environment of the gym n the regulars that come in n chat between classes. She's also very good at what she does n has put many assholes in their place after they've scoffed at "the cute little girl you have here".
Baku is a "park ranger", n I use quotations bc that's the only title he could really give himself to have any authority over the land he owns. He gives himself more leeway than what some laws may grant, tho tbh if you're coming into his territory with intent to harm those in it, you're lucky to walk away at all just sayin'
He runs an escape park of sorts for weres n shifters to run around during full moons and other times they need to shed their human skin, personally owned so he can avoid all the bullshit regulations n "safety procedures" found in bigger places that try offering the same thing, but ultimately make the shifting process shittier than it needs to be. And words gets around so it gets super popular super fast, n people of all ages come by
Tbh the thought of a teeny tiny wolf, like 10y/o at most running around Baku n trying to get him to play, nipping at his ankles n calling him the pack alpha is really what settled the debate on whether he should be an alpha or omega. And the added image of Baku rolling his eyes n putting on his toughass act but not really minding it as he gets them moving with a tap on the ass, muttering "Fuckin told ya squirt, I'm not your pack alpha. Now find someone else's ankles to bite at, I'm busy", makes me feel really nice
For some first meetings, tbh Kiribaku probably happens first, n they meet when Kiri n Tetsu accidentally trespass on Baku's territory bc they're new to the area n found a big ass lake to soak in during a flight over town, like dude!! Fuck yea that could fit both of us easy, man I haven't soaked in my big form in forever lets go!
And ofc if the giant shadows overhead hadn't tipped him off the security sensors would've so Baku's like who in the FUCK!! N storms off to confront them bc you don't just come on his land like that. That's how people get fucking hurt you dumb assholes 😤😤
N Kiri n Tetsu are mostly just minding their own business, settling down into the lake like aw yea that's the shit, almost passing out bc they'd just had a long day n the water was so cool n the fish eatting the dead skin n shit off their scales was so relaxing. They don't even realise they'd drifted into a light doze when they hear furious snarling n harsh sniffing coming their way, n barely have enough time to get up before Baku comes tearing shit through the trees
And like. Kiri n Tetsu know that they're big boys. Their full sized dragon forms are huge n there's not much out there that scares them, but nobody likes coming face to face with a snarling werewolf, standing in their territory without any warning that you maybe shouldn't be there
Despite the hostile intro, it doesn't take much for the misunderatanding to be cleared up. There's a lot of apologies from Kiri n Tetsu n a lot of irritated snorts from Baku, but they get straightened out. Baku tells them what kinda show he's running n Kiri inatantly get sparkly eyes like dude!! You do that all by yourself?! That's so manly bro you gotta let us help with that
Baku snorts like you don't have to make empty offers if you wanna use the grounds, I don't refuse people unless they pose an actual threat to the others. You guys aren't dangerous, just stupid. N Kiri goes hey rude, but also it's gotta be a lot dealing with all that on your own. We can at least watch out from above, keep an eye on shit or whatever bc face it man, you may be great but even you can't be in multiple places at once.
And the only reason Baku ends up agreeing is bc they pester him about it until he's well past irritated, n he's figured out the only way to shut them up was concede. They can't be there fulltime anyway consudering their professions, but they're sure to help when they can
Kirichako meet at the gym. Kiri's buying a membership or smth bc you gotta keep the stength up bro! Can't be slacking when you're the difference between someone living n someong dying y'know? Ochako's either in a class or dealing with some hothead, her furrowed brows n puffed cheeks distracting Kiri n reminding him of a chipmunk before bud says smth he can't hear but has Ochako seeing red. It doesn't take long for him to end up on his ass n Kiri's just stuck watching, jaw dropped n heart eyes as Ochako tells the guy he can either fix his attitude or find somewhere else to go
Kiri turns to Tetsu like dude holy shit did you see that?? N Tetsu's like yea bro everyone saw it, n Ochako comes up to them like sorry about that. We have a no harassment policy here that some people overstep, n it sucks that we get people coming in that need it enforced but unfortunately it's pretty common.
Then, bc she's still a bit sour, she looks them both dead in the eyes with a fire raging behind hers like if that's not smth you think you can handle then you might as well save us all the hassle n leave now. N they're both like no way that was great, totally understandable, just tell us where to sign
And while she came off as kinda aggressive during their initial meet, Kiri's quick to find she has just as much sweetness to match her bite. He watches her between sets sometimes n sees how kind n gentle she can be with the younger classes that come in, how she doesn't single out people who struggle n instead moves to help n provide tips without making a huge deal of it
She's also one of the first people to come running when someone gets hurt, he finds out. He'd admittedly been more focused on her sparring with Gunhead than he'd been on the super heavy equipment he was using for his reps, n managed to look over at the perfect time to get flustered n drop it directly on his foot. The resounding crack was loud enough to catch quite a bit of attention, tho he knows the equipment is more likely to be damaged than his foot
Ochako doesn't even hesitate to run over n levitate him to take the pressure off of his not broken foot, going "oh my god are you okay?? Someone clear that bench please, he needs to get off his feet now!" N Kiri does appreciate the concern, as embarassing as it may be, n tries to tell her it's really not a big deal, thanks for the help but honestly--
N she rounds on him like say that one more time n you'll be dealing with a broken nose instead, now sit your ass down n let me handle this!! Kiri can't even reply with anything other than a quiet okay😳😳 bc he's always thought her determination was super admirable, but being this close n seeing it burn in her eyes so intensely is taking it to a whole new level n he has no clue how to handle it
Kacchako meeting is kind of a hybrid mix of the other two combined lmao. Baku owns a pack house where he lives with Deku, then later with Kiri, Tetsu, Mina, Kami, n Sero, but he's so busy with the park that he's hardly ever home. N since Ochako's kinda embarassed about her tiny ass appartment, they usually hang out at the pack house to talk over magic studies or gossip over whatever's happened recently. At this point Baku n Ochako have heard of each other but never been around at the same time
Which causes a problem one day while Ochako's in the kitchen making tea when Baku comes home. He'd had a stressful day warding off poachers or smth, n his rut's just a few days away now, so when he opens the door n is greeted with a slightly unfamiliar scent it sends him into a daze, where he stalks to the kitchen before he even knows that he's moving
Ochako knows tho, can hear the low growls and deliberately quiet steps creeping behind her, setting her on edge bc ohhhh my god, someone just broke into Deku's place holy shit!! And when it gets close enough to barely feel hot breath on the back of her neck she's flinging herself into action, all muscle memory as she gets a few quick jabs into Baku's gut. It knocks the question outta his lungs, getting out a choked "who the--" before her magic kicks in and she's picking him up n slamming him down with his weight returned for maximum momentum, body slamming the following "fUCK!!" out as well before she placed her weight on him to keep him down. She gets right in his face demanding "who are you?! How did you get in here?!"
And when he can breathe again Baku snaps back like "who tf am I?!? I live here!! Who tf are you?!?!" And like, she's still in fight mode so she's looking him over like hmm, so this is Bakugou. Then she realises wtf she's doing n goes oh my god it's Bakugou!! N she's jumping off him and apologising so fast that she's barely saying words, trying to take his hands n help him back up but getting swatted away bc you've done enough touching don't you think??
And yea, Baku's kinda pissed. Being attacked in your own house does that to anyone, let alone a pre-rut alpha. But also, he's kinda impressed, bc he can count on one hand the amount of people who've gotten the drop on him like that, but he'd rather die than admit it out loud. So he just huffs at her with a final "try that shit again n I'll kill you", n stalks off to his room, having more important things to worry about right then than who's fucking around in his kitchen
((His rut decides to be completely unhelpful that time around, his alpha brain locking in on the faint perfume she'd left on his shirt while tossing him around and how perfectly it mixed with his own scent, as well as the shirt he nabbed from Kiri's laundry basket the night before. He rubs the scents of these strong potential mates all over his den, knots his rut aid with his face plastered to the shirts then uses it to scent the shirts even more, drunk off of how well their scents all mix together. He's rightfully embarassed during the end when he can start thinking properly again n throws both shirts to the back of his closet to be forgotten about--as much as his alpha fights him on it--n moves on to his business like normal.
Tho if he tries to be home more often when he knows Ochako's coming around, n spends more time in Kiri's space, nobody's mean enough to comment on it. At least, not at first.))
Man I have many feelings about this, but I'll leave it here for now bc I could go on forever

This was not good.
Kina glanced over at the half naked man sitting on the bench inside the Millennium Falcon. Someone had handed him a shirt after he sat down, but he was holding it loose in his fingers, his face turned to her and his lips parted.
"What’s wrong with him?" Finn asked, sitting across from the man, his elbows on his knees. Poe didn’t pay him any mind.
"He’s been like this since we found him…" Rey looked at Kina. "Well, after he fell to his knees at the sight of Kina."
Kina rubbed the bridge of her nose between two fingers, squeezing her eyes shut. She felt a hand take hers and opened her eyes to see Poe looking up at her in adoration.
"How can I serve you?"
Finn jerked his head back, blinking. "What did he just say?"
Kina groaned, not bothering to take her hand back. She’d tried several times already but every time she did he just found it again. "You heard him," she whistled.
"I know what I heard, I just don’t believe that I heard it," Finn replied.
Poe’s hand stroked hers and Kina resisted the urge to crawl into his lap and let him touch her everywhere. Chasī, she had missed him. Missed his face and his touch and his smile. Missed the little creases across his forehead and the indentation on the tip of his nose.
But this… this wasn’t how she wanted him. This man looked like Poe Dameron, but the things that made him him… they weren’t there. His eyes were blank, adoring yes, but with no thought behind them other than pleasing her.
"Fix him," Finn broke into her thoughts with an earnest plea.
"I’m not sure I know how," she replied, gently extricating her hand from Poe’s. The man wilted, eyes going wide and sad as she pulled away and she relented instantly, stepping closer and sinking her fingers into his hair. The moan he let out was lewd, practically sexual, and Kina’s eyes went wide as she shot an apologetic look at Rey and Finn. Small mercy, at least, Chewie was preparing the ship to take off.
"Well this can’t go on," Rey gestured at Poe.
"I know," Kina shot back. "I’m thinking."
"Be nice." K-0, ever helpful, bumped into Rey’s feet.
BB-8 had been hanging back, eyeing Poe doubtfully when the man was led onboard and hiding behind a chair during the conversation. They came out now, spinning in place a few feet away. "Friend Poe?"
Poe glanced at the droid, the first thing he had bothered to acknowledge besides Kina, but his eyes quickly went back to her. "Tell me how to serve you."
"Ok first, stop with that," Kina whistled. Poe continued to stare at her.
"Huh," Finn grunted, cocking his head.
Kina tilted her head as well. "Poe if you want to serve me walk over there." He didn’t move, just leaned into her hand.
Rey’s eyes narrowed, "Why isn’t he…?"
"I don’t know," Kina whistled. "Say something to him."
"Poe," Rey started, "Kina wants you to move over by me."
He was gone instantly, standing next to Rey and blinking back at Kina with a hopeful look.
"Those bitches," Kina whistled lowly.
"What?" Finn asked, eyes darting between Kina, Rey and Poe.
"Whatever they did - it’s tied to the Chasīar. And to our sounds. He sees me as his mistress, but he can’t hear me." Kina crossed her arms, frowning. "That’s going to make this more harder." She paused, tapping at her cuff with a sigh. "More complicated."
"How so?" Rey held a hand out to hold Poe back when he tried to return to Kina’s side.
"Well, the main problem is I don’t know what Song they used. Other than it being one of the Forbidden ones. But two, even if I did there’s no way for me to break it. As far as Poe is concerned I’m mute. I was thinking of just ordering him to be normal."
"Do you think that would have worked?" Rey asked.
Kina shrugged, "I don’t know, but it doesn’t matter because I can’t talk to him."
"So what, we figure out the song and then find someone else who can do it?"
Kina looked at Finn, "Where? My planet was destroyed. The only ones of my people who travel are the ones who are either on a mission like the singer to the trees, or those who have chosen Forbidden paths. I’m not sure how we find the first, and we definitely do not want to find the second."
"What about you?" Rey asked quietly, hand still pressed to Poe’s chest. "Which are you?"
Kina sighed, sitting on the bench. "I’m nobody. When they took my voice they took who I was. I was asked, not very politely, to leave."
Poe finally had had enough, pushing past Rey and falling to his knees beside Kina. She leaned forward with a heavy sigh, burying her face in her hands. Poe’s arm snuck behind her, holding her waist while he rested his head on her thigh.
"He’s going to be so mad when he wakes up," Finn pointed out.
"Could be worse," Rey said, slipping onto the bench next to him. "He could be under adoration mind control to you."
"Ha ha ha," Finn bit out sarcastically. "Okay, so Plan A is find another Chasinian. Is there a Plan B?"
Kina looked up at him through her fingers, shrugging. "I’ve heard that very strong overriding emotions can sometimes break a Song’s effect."
"Like what?" Rey asked.
"Like love," Kina supplied, "or hatred."
Rey raised an eyebrow at her, then looked down at Poe. Kina quickly shook her head. "We were together for a month Rey, we care for each other but it’s definitely not going to be the depth of feeling for something like this." She looked at the man wrapped around her waist, "Besides, anything I might be able to do has been tainted. Whatever Song they used I’ve become the focus of it. His love for me is the problem not the solution. Does he hate anyone?"
"Kylo Ren," Finn and Rey said at the same time.
"Hux," Finn offered immediately after.
"Anyone in the First Order," Chewie supplied as he walked in and stood next to the table. "Apologies, I only overheard the last part. We need to find someone that Dameron hates?"
"Or loves," Rey offered.
"Leia Organa," Chewbacca said with a tilt of his head and Rey and Kina turned to look at him. Chewie shrugged, "There is love there, of what type I cannot name, but there is love."
Kina made a face before sighing, "It’s the only thing I can think of, and where we’re heading anyway." At Finn’s confused look Kina explained, "New Plan A, we’ll go back to base, see if Leia can help."
But that meant two and a half days of this. Two and a half days on the Falcon while they journeyed back to Ajan Kloss on the hope that somehow putting him and Leia in the same room would break whatever Song had claimed him. In the meantime…
"Can someone tell him I want him to put on a shirt?"
Rey huffed a laugh at that and Finn held up the discarded shirt Poe had left behind. "Hey pal, your mistress wants you to put this on."
Kina glared at him, "Can we not use that term? It’s bad enough hearing it from him." Poe’s hand was already reaching out, slipping the shirt over his head and then leaning back against her legs.
"Wonder what else we could get him to do…" Finn mused out loud and both Rey and Kina looked at him in shock. But it was Chewie who leapt to Poe’s defense first.
"You will not take advantage of Dameron, are we clear?"
Finn jerked away from the Wookie eyes wide. "I don’t know what he just said but I’m going to guess it was 'no messing with Poe,' am I right?" Chewie grunted and both Kina and Rey nodded. "He’d do it to me if the situation was reversed," Finn grumbled.
Rey rolled her eyes. "No he wouldn’t. He might joke about it. But he’d never do it."
Finn gave Poe a soft smile. "No, he wouldn’t, would he?"
Dinner went fine, once Kina coaxed Poe to sit next to her rather on the floor. But then they had to deal with the fact that he kept trying to feed her. Eventually, Kina had to move across the table - hooking one foot around his ankle to maintain contact but staying out of reach of his hands.
The Falcon had two sleeping berths, each with a set of triple bunks. Kina and Rey had been sharing one, Finn and Chewie the other. After dinner Kina led Poe to the second, gently pushing him inside and pointing at the empty lowest bunk.
"You sleep there. Okay?"
Poe looked from her to where she was pointing. "I cannot be without you mistress." His plaintive voice made her heart break but she shook her head.
"No. This is where you sleep. You’ll be fine." She pointed at the bunk again and pushed him into it, tucking his feet inside. "Stay," she pointed, staring into his eyes, willing him to understand her.
He nodded, looking worried, and she backed out of the room, turning on a low light inside and punching the pad to shut the door. When she returned to the common area three sets of eyes and two photoreceptors turned to her.
BB-8 was the first to speak. "Is Friend Poe going to be okay?"
Kina sank to sit in front of the droid. "I genuinely don’t know buddy. I hope so."
They spun in place. "He did not recognize me."
"He didn’t recognize any of us," Rey said reassuringly. "It’s not just you Beebs."
BB-8 wobbled a little and Kina pulled the droid into a hug. "We’re gonna do what we can, okay? I promise we won’t give up on him."
The droid leaned their full weight into her and Kina held them until they were ready for her to let go. How anyone could spend time with someone like BB-8 and not think that droids were feeling, caring people…
That was a thought for another day. Finn and Chewbacca were saying their goodnights, heading to the bunk with Poe. Rey tapped her shoulder and Kina took the offered hand, rising to her feet and joining Rey in the other berth.
"What happens if we can’t fix this?" Rey asked once they were both settled.
"I’m trying really hard not to think about that," Kina replied. She heard Rey sigh and shift in the bunk above her. She wasn’t sure how long the other woman stayed awake but for herself, it was a long time before she felt sleep overtake her.
Unfortunately, Kina had barely managed to drift off when she was awoken by a tapping at the door. "What the..?"
Above her she heard Rey grunt and felt the bed shift as the woman sat up. "Come in," she called.
Finn and Chewie stood in the doorway, holding a distraught Poe between them. Kina was on her feet in a heartbeat, reaching a hand out and they released him into her arms.
"I tried mistress," he muttered into her neck, arms wrapping around her. "I tried."
"What happened?" Rey asked, landing lightly on the floor.
"He started yelling," Finn told them, brows drawn together. "He was thrashing around, sounded like he was in pain."
"I tried," Poe said again, his breath hot on her skin.
Kina shared a look with Rey and the woman nodded, shuffling the two men out of the berth. "Call out if you need anything?" Rey asked, just outside of the doors.
"I will," Kina told her. When the doors closed she was left in darkness with Poe. Grunting, she pushed him away, searching for the light on the wall. The dim orange glow cast him in shadows.
"I tried," he said again, voice worried.
"I know," she stroked his face, knowing he couldn’t understand her but hoping the gesture would get through to him. "I know you did."
She guided him into the lowest bunk, the one below hers. He sank into it gratefully and she slid into the one above it with a sigh. Laying on her stomach, she let her arm hang over the side. Poe’s hand instantly found hers, his fingers interlacing with her own.
"Thank you mistress," he said quietly.
"We’re going to fix this Poe." Kina blinked back a tear and squeezed his hand. "I promise."

“Gentlemen, you're up!”
Tumblr media
The patrol car raced through the road towards Wheaton, the wail of its police siren blaring through the air. Thor's eyes were trained on the road ahead, his knuckles white from the strength he was gripping the steering wheel with. Steve was focused on typing messages to keep Clint and Nat updated. He could have called, it would have been easier and faster, but the sound of the sirens would make it difficult to understand anything and he'd rather be engrossed in his phone, trying to keep his fingers steady over the keyboard, than looking through the window and letting his mind wander to possible scenarios he wasn't ready to even consider.
Tony and Bucky occupied the back seats and, truth be told, both men were being uncharacteristically quiet. Sure the circumstances didn't allow for small chat or any kind of joking but still. Bucky was getting more and more anxious by the minute and he would go nuts if he kept counting the trees they passed by the road. And then there was Tony, he wasn't the one to let a snarky comment pass by even if it only was Thor's driving skills or Steve's phone being an old-fashioned model.
Bucky turned his head right to look at Tony and spotted him fiddling with something that looked like two Tasers. He was tinkering with the devices using a small screwdriver he had gotten from who knows where. Tony must have sensed Bucky's gaze on him coz he looked up to find him watching and lifted both his hands to show him that he was, indeed, messing with a pair of Tasers.
"Where did you get them?" Bucky asked.
"The trunk of the abandoned car." Tony shrugged as he resumed his job with the screwdriver. "You three all have guns... figured I might need something."
Bucky didn't say a word but raised an eyebrow at him and Tony looked up again.
"Don't look at me like that Barnes, I saw that big ass shot gun in the trunk." he said as he continued fiddling.
Bucky then heard Steve gave an exasperated sigh as he turned to face them.
"Are you two fighting again?"
"Nope, but I don’t like him so…" Tony stated, without taking his eyes from the Tasers.
"Me? What did I do? I ain't the one that killed your parents." Bucky scoffed.
"One more word, I swear to god…" Tony snapped at him, brandishing the tasers.
Ok, that had been an unfortunate comment of sorts. Not the best moment to bring up his dead parents…
"What the fuck you gonna do with a Taser, Stark?" Bucky asked Tony, trying to dial it down a bit.
"I amplified the power to 3000%, so try me."
"Ok." Bucky slurred. He was truly impressed and fell silent.
"I love you 3000." a smirking Tony mumbled.
"So you don’t hate me now? Come on!" Bucky feigned a protest.
"I was talking to the tasers." Tony quipped, lifting his head for a second to raise an eyebrow at Bucky.
Thor then let out a huge guffaw and Steve sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose. He couldn't cope with Tony and Bucky’s stupid bickering at the moment. He couldn't blame Tony though. The man was a wreck too, after all it was his sister whose life was at stake.
"Buck, please. Leave it." Steven pleaded without turning around.
"You know what, I’m done. When all this is over I’m fucking off to Africa and settling in a goat farm." Bucky muttered.
"What are you, Meryl Streep?  What would Wilson do without you, or are you taking him with you so that he can wash your hair?" Tony joked but suddenly paused, pondering something while studying Bucky before asking  "Have you ever considered letting it grow? It would suit you."
"Tony, that's enough!" Steve's Captain voice echoed inside the car.
A tense silence fell over them as Thor swung the vehicle they were in around a car in front of them that was moving out of the way and Steve leaned forward to check the sat nav. They were less than a mile out now and he could feel the tension build up in every muscle of his body.
"Cut the sirens, Thor. We don’t want to warn them."
"Yes, captain."
Almost as soon after Thor did as he was told they were pulling up through the large gates of the drive up to the camp. Thor drove a few yards into the main parking lot before stopping the car.
"Back up a bit, Thor." Steve asked, looking around him through the window. "Let's hide the car behind those bushes."
Just as Thor was about to stop the car they heard a loud clang and they all turned to see what had happened.
"You hit a flagpole." Bucky informed.
"Well, luckily we didn't knock it down. That would have caught a lot of attention." Tony deadpanned.
"Nah, that would have been impossible..." Thor began to explain.
"Are you sure, Odinson? The way you drive..." quipped Bucky
"The only way to take the flagpole down is by disconnecting the pin holding the pole in place." Steve deadpanned.
Everyone turned to look at him and he simply shrugged at the inquiring expressions of their team's faces.
"What now Cap?" Thor finally asked.
"Call it Rogers." Tony chimed.
"We get out." Steve said sternly.
"I could have called that." Bucky said as he rolled his eyes. "Come on, you’re the man with the plan Steve, what is your plan today?"
Steve hesitated for a moment as he took his surroundings but before he could speak Tony replied.
"I have a plan. Attack!" Tony shouted and with that he barrelled out of the car, leaving everyone dumbfounded.
"Fuck's sake…TONY!" Steve hissed.
But Tony was gone. Long gone. Steve, Bucky and Thor hastily got out of the car and saw him sprinting across the lawns round the side of the old reception area of the camp. Steve couldn't help but give a growl and the three men headed round to the trunk of the car. If Tony wanted to play hero, that was fine by him. Maybe not die trying would be nice. But Steve's strategic mind told him they needed to get ready for the fight. It was the fight of their lives and he was determined to get his girl back safe.
Whatever it takes.
"He’s gonna get himself killed." Bucky said as he nodded at Tony while he put a bulletproof vest emblazoned with the NYPD logo on.
"No, he’s the perfect distraction for Rumlow. Another Stark to add to the collection. Let him think he’s here alone…" Steve said, hand on hips while looking at Tony in the distance.
"Lady Potts will kill us." Thor stated whilst pulling on his vest.
"Lady? What are you Macbeth?" Bucky asked, giving Thor a look.
"Ok can we focus?" Steve groaned as he zipped his vest up.
"How you wanna play this?" Bucky asked his captain.
"We head in, split up, we can cover more ground. Anyone see anything, call it in ok?" Steve called it.
Bucky and Thor nodded and with that they headed down the small path to the right until they reached a point where it forked. Thor then stopped Steve with a hand on his shoulder.
"Captain, look."
Steve looked down and saw a set of 3 footprints. He followed the trail with his eyes and saw that they led off the path and down the bank around the large lake. At a head sign from Steve all 3 men pulled out their guns, their previous plan to split up abandoned, and headed slowly but surely round the bank of the lake. Their senses alert until they reach the boathouse where the canoes and water-sports equipment was stored.
As they approached they saw Tony crouched down at the side of a speedboat. The scientist glanced up as they all stooped to keep in the shadows.
What, did you stop for drive thru?" Tony asked with sarcasm.
Thor ignored him and looked down.
"The trail stops here Captain…they must have taken the path from this point."
The four men glanced around, looking for some hint that may give away the direction Rumlow and Wanda may have taken.
"If you had kidnapped someone, brought them here, where would you hide them?" Tony, asked. His analytical mind taking over his former recklessness.
Steve looked around again and spotted the old munition barracks which had been turned into the main offices. He now recalled him and Katie being sent there the last time they were here as there’d been a mix up with the cabins.  He smiled and the thought of it being a perfect hiding place as, if he was not mistaken, there had been plenty of smaller rooms in that building.
"In plain sight" he said nodding to it.
They walked over, as ever trusting their Captain's instinct. When they got there, Steve noticed the door was locked. Rumlow must have locked it from the inside to avoid unexpected visitors or even squatters. He turned to look at Bucky, nodded to the lock and moved away an instant before the detective shot the lock clean off and opened the main door.
Steve let Thor and Buck enter the building first, Tony and him walking into the old office behind them. The four men gave slow steps, taking the room in, before splitting up to cover the different smaller spaces. The Captain remained close to Tony who started roaming around and stopped by a cupboard.
"Hey, look at this." Tony called for him.
Steve gave a few steps over and looked to where Tony was pointing to the floor. There were scrape marks in an arc where the door had been opened. They looked fresh. Good call, Tony.  Steve thought to himself.
He reached for the handle and pulled the door open. But it turned out to simply be a janitor's store.
They looked around, a bit disappointed. There was nothing in there at all except a forsaken tool box. But apparently it had caught Thor's undivided attention as he grinned and headed to it, crouching beside it to open it and rummaged through the scarce and dusty contents before pulling out a hammer.
"I like these." Thor said, wielding the hammer.
The three men looked at him and the childish expression on his face.
"Whatever, ok, let’s keep looking…" Steve urged.
"Wait…can you feel that?" Tony asked, raising his hand to stop everyone moving.
"Yeah, there’s an air current…" Bucky offered.
Tony nodded in agreement and started looking around, feeling the walls, knocking on them lightly. After a while he stopped at the one to their right.
"Please be a secret door, please be a secret door…" he said faintly before pushing on it and with a small click the door pushed inwards. “Yay." Tony exclaimed softly, with the air of a small child discovering some kind of special treat.
Steve stepped over and glanced through it. There was a set of steps.
"Alright, I’ll go first. Buck, cover me."
Bucky nodded and the 4 of them headed down the steps and emerged into a cellar of some sort. It was a room full of boxes and containers. There were also trash cans overflowing with old pieces of paper. But that was not what Steve, who was leading the party, was paying attention to. His breath caught, as for the first time in hours, he could hear Katie. He stopped dead, holding his hand up and the others halted in a line, fanning out behind him. He paid attention again and relief washed over him as he heard her voice once more. He couldn't understand clearly what she was saying, her voice was quiet, but it was her and that meant she was conscious and, more importantly, alive.
Steve let out the breath he was holding and looked at Tony who also breathed out in relief at the noise. His brown eyes telling him she’s alive. Steve nodded to him tightly before he stepped forward once more.
The members of The Avengers followed their teammate’s voice through the cellar and reached a door at the far side where they spotted a chink of light coming from the inside. Now Katie's voice was a lot clearer to them.
"You know they’ll find me don’t you? Soon as they find the first car they’ll be onto you."
"By they you mean lover boy? Yeah I’ll be glad to punch his pretty face in, and you’re getting front row seats sugar." they heard Rumlow disdainful words this time.
"Don’t call me that." Katie hissed.
"We agreed Rogers is mine. You’re not laying a finger on him." Wanda intervened, confronting Rumlow.
Katie’s sarcastic laugh echoed in the room. "You’re fucking insane Wanda. You think after everything you still have a chance?"
"This is all your fault, you spoilt brat. You should have stayed in DC." Wanda raised her voice.
"Yeah well you can thank your friend Brock for that. Funny though…”
“What is?”
“Steve. Out of all the profilers he could have chosen, despite the fact we were on bad terms, he still came running to me. Because wanted me. Hes never wanted you and he never will…"
Wanda was the one to laugh this time and Steve shuddered at the harshness that laced the sound.  "This isn’t about that anymore. I want him to pay for humiliating me…and I want you to suffer knowing that when I stick a bullet in his head, you’re to blame."
There was a pause before Katie spoke again. This time her voice was quieter and Steve felt his heart sink.
"Leave him alone. You got me."
"And I want you to lose him because of me, like I lost him because of you." Wanda continued.
"Shut the fuck up Maximoff. This isn’t about you." Rumlow growled.
Steve shook his head, trying to zone out from the exchange as he attempted to keep a clear head and figure out a plan. They couldn’t just storm in, it was too dangerous but if they didn’t do something soon…
He closed his eyes, in an attempt to keep the tears that were threatening to spill at bay, the world around him fading for a minute. And then, as he took a deep breath, as if by magic he heard Tony's whispering voice. "I have an idea. Do you trust me?" he asked Steve.
The team all turned to him, the concern on their faces changing into something similar to hopefulness.
"We need a distraction, something to draw him out. There were a few oil drums back over at the boat house. I can blow some shit up. Cause a fuss…" Tony explained
Steve looked at Bucky who shrugged "No better idea."
"I trust you." the Captain said looking at him in the eyes. "Ok, go…"
At that Tony nodded and slinked off and their attention went back to the conversation.
"Sooooo…" they heard Katie again "I get it, you want revenge and whatnot but, humour me. Before you do whatever it is you’re gonna do to me, I need to know. What the FUCK is the cereal about?"
"I’m sure in that pretty little head of yours you figured it out." Rumlow scorned.
"Hmmm, well I have a theory…"
"You know I’ve always liked listening to your mind talk…" Rumlow encouraged her. Steve could almost perceive the wicked smile on his face.
"Oh, what the hell…nothing else to do whilst I’m sat here.” Katie said, her voice almost bored, but Steve knew her well enough to know that she was feigning. She would be scared, hell, he was scared, but she was too feisty to ever show weakness at a moment like this.
“Classic narcissism. It’s personal to you. Symbolic. You’re pissed off that you never got the life that being Pierces’ legitimate son would have given you. Instead of a prince you were a pauper, am I right?" Katie finished, poking at Rumlow with her words.
Under any other circumstances Steve would have been caught grinning proudly at his girl's attitude. But the silence that fell upon the room chilled his bones and he closed his eyes again.
“Caviar vs cereal…this is literally the most ridiculous case I have ever worked on, with the stupidest Killer ever." Katie laughed.
"Well it fits perfectly with your stupid Captain and his ridiculous team." Rumlow snarled, his pride wounded.
"Oooh, did I touch a nerve there Brock? Let me tell you something, you’re not even half the man my stupid captain is…" Katie now hissed.
Then there was the sound of someone spitting, apparently Katie, as it was followed by a roar and the harsh sound of a slap, followed by a yell, and another loud thud, then silence again.
"That should shut her up for a while…annoying bitch." Wanda spoke this time.
That was it, Steve snapped. To hell with this, he thought. It was now or never. He was not losing the love of his life and he had a real opportunity to take Rumlow down good.  He stepped and looked at Bucky and Thor.
"Assemble." he said between gritted teeth before looking back as if to boot the door but Thor caught him.
"Captain…" Thor hissed, his hand curling round Steve’s forearm. "We can’t storm the room. Not whilst they have little Stark like this."
"I’m done waiting Thor…she’s…"
But he didn't finish as right on cue there was a huge explosion above their heads.
"What the fuck?" Rumlow shouted.
"It could be a trap. Someone trying to draw us out." Wanda stated.
There was a pause, nothing happened, and Steve began to worry it wasn't going to work. But then there was another blast, this one shaking the room.
"There’s no way they’ll have found this place yet." Rumlow told Wanda. “I’ll go see what’s going on.”
Bucky looked at Steve and then at Thor, mouthing arrogant bastard as Thor arched an eyebrow, tossing the hammer in his right hand.
"She comes round, keep her quiet." Rumlow now ordered Wanda.
"Gladly."
Steve jerked his head when he heard Rumlow's footsteps approaching them, and the three men hurried away from the door, hiding in the shadows.
"Wait for him to head to the stairs before we engage." Steve hissed to Bucky and Thor. Both nodded in agreement. The door to the small room clicked open and Rumlow jogged out. Steve's mind raced as he watched the man. He knew if he set his gun off it was going to alert Wanda to the fact they were there, so searching around for something to use instead he found a trash can lid.  He grabbed it, slipped his hand into the handle, positioning it in front of his body as Rumlow approached where he was hiding. Then he stood up and almost as if the movement was automatic, like he’d done this in a previous life, he swung it straight into Rumlow’s face, hitting him right on the bridge of the nose with a huge clang.
"A trash can lid?" Bucky deadpanned as Rumlow keeled over backwards, out cold. Thor catching him.  "Worked, didn’t it?" Steve said and moved forward as Thor dragged Rumlow off to the right.
"Brock?"  They heard Wanda and once more they hid as she appeared in the doorway. They saw her look around, then clearly assuming he was gone and the noise was nothing to be concerned about, she headed back in, leaving the door open slightly.
Thor straightened up from where he had handcuffed Rumlow to a metal pipe at the far side of the room and nodded to the Captain. Then they heard steps on the stairs and all 3 men wheeled round to see Tony hurrying back down with what looked like some kind of fencing mask on his face.
"Did House Party Protocol work?" Tony asked, out of breath as he slid the mask up off his face. Steve nodded to where Rumlow was cuffed as a response. "One down, one to go."
"What’s with the mask?" Bucky asked Tony, lowering his shotgun.
"I was mixing chemicals, and that was the best thing I could find."  he shrugged before walking over towards Rumlow and kicking him hard in the face, the crunching of bone ringing out across the room as Rumlow’s nose exploded across his face even more than it already had with the force of Steve’s blow.
"Just making sure." Tony quipped. “Ok, call it Cap”
Steve looked around, the trash can lid still in his left hand, pistol in his right. He waved the gun towards the door, leading the way as if they were a commando unit, and they all followed him silently. Thor tossing the hammer in his right hand, gun in his left.
The door was open and Steve peeked through it. He could see Katie at the far side of the room, her head lolled forward where she was tied to a chair. She was out cold. He swallowed and turned to Thor who was still tossing that fucking hammer.
"Thor put the hammer down. Katie’s out…we need to act now."
"You sure, Captain?" the blond asked.
"Want me to put a bullet in the bitch’s head?" Bucky asked Steve.
"No. I wanna give her a few thousand volts…" Tony replied to Bucky, thrusting his hands out in front of him, the modified tasers fizzing and lighting up in his palms.
"Fine, but I get the final blow. I’ve put up with her insults to my partner at the station for far too long." Bucky bargained.
"All of you shut up…" Steve hissed as he looked back through the door. Wanda was now pacing lightly up and down. He saw her stop in front of Katie, brandishing the gun in her right hand, looking down at the unconscious woman.
"I knew it would all go to shit the moment you set foot back in that station. All the effort I put into pleasing Steve, being the best assistant I could…it was only a matter of time and then you….you had to come back."
Steve turned to his team, nodded, and with that he stepped into the room as Wanda continued her rambling.
"Even Natasha was encouraging me to go for it…telling me to act on my feelings…but then everyone turned against me…because of you."
"You did that yourself Wanda." Steve growled.
Wanda wheeled round and gave a gasp, surprise evident on her face.
"Steve." she whispered before her eyes slid to Thor, Bucky and Tony as they all flanked the Captain.
"Put the gun down Maximoff." Steve ordered.
She flinched at the impersonal surname use but then she recovered and she snarled, cocked the gun and pointed it straight at Katie’s face.
"One more move and I’ll blow her face off."
"Don’t you dare…" Steve hissed through clenched teeth.
Wanda simply gripped the gun tighter, and then, a movement drew Steve’s attention, as Katie began to stir, giving a small moan.
Quick as a flash Wanda brought the butt of the gun crashing down on Katie’s temple, rendering her out cold again and with a snarl Thor flung the hammer straight at Wanda’s hand, knocking the gun from her fingers. She gave a yell as the item had hit her with some force, and Steve took the opportunity. He barrelled straight at her, spearing her round the waist and tackled her, pinning her face down on the floor, utter fury and hatred coursing through his veins. Wanda was screaming and thrashing around underneath him but it was pointless, Steve was far too strong. As he moved to restrain her underneath him, Bucky strode over, shotgun pointed down at her, trained on her head.
"Game over bitch." Bucky jabbed and Wanda suddenly became still.
"And I didn’t get to use my tasers. Man, this sucks." Tony sighed.
Steve looked at Bucky who nodded "Go check your girl Stevie, we got this."
They both heard Thor speaking into his radio requesting medical assistance and transport for two prisoners. Bucky then turned to Tony as Steve stood up.
"Here, take this…" he told Tony as he handed him the gun.
Tony took it and Bucky yanked Wanda’s hands behind her back, snapping the cuffs on her wrists. No sooner had he done that, Tony was kneeling down, grabbing Wanda’s hair, pulling her head up.
"Look at me, Wicked Witch of the West. You’re gonna regret ever having touched my sister." Tony spat.
Steve, meanwhile was crouched in front of Katie, her bruised face held gently in his hands as she was out cold.
"Thor…" he said as he looked up "…get her out of those ropes." He swallowed "Please."
"I’ll do it." Bucky said, reaching down his boot and pulling out a knife.
Thor looked at him with his mouth wide open.
"What?"
"You brought a knife to a gunfight." Thor stated the obvious.
"Better than a fucking hammer." Bucky scoffed and stepped forward to cut the ropes.
As soon as she was free from the restraints Katie’s body fell forward and Steve caught her, sitting back on the floor as he gently shifted her so she was held in his arms, facing upwards. He reached out and tenderly brushed her hair back off her face, pressing a kiss to her forehead.
"It's ok Star, I got you…" he said, as he rocked her gently.
Bucky glanced at him. "I’ll call Clint and Nat…" he said, pulling out his phone and leaving the room, followed by Thor whose radio had just cracked to life announcing the arrival of the NJPD who had come following his call to take Rumlow and Wanda.
Tony, cast a glance at Wanda making sure she couldn’t go anywhere, before he stood up and walked to Steve, crouching down next to him.
"Hey, sis…" he said gently, reaching out to brush her face.
Katie still wasn’t answering and Tony looked worriedly at Steve.
"She’ll come round Tony." Steve told him, his voice and sentiment much braver than he felt as he was blinking back the tears himself when he glanced down. Tony gripped his shoulder and just at that moment the room suddenly filled with noise and bodies as local officers walked in, followed by two paramedics.
Bucky took over giving the orders, one of the officers hoisting Wanda to her feet whilst he directed them to Rumlow, all the time keeping one eye on the paramedics who had crouched down next to Steve and Katie.
"How long has she been out?" one of the paramedics, a middle aged woman, asked Steve.
"She took a blow about 20 minutes ago but came round only to take a second which was…" he gulped and sighed "I don’t know."
"Ok, Sir I need you to let us take care of her." the woman said.
"No, I’m not leaving her…please." Steve pleaded.
The woman took a deep breath before speaking "You can stay with her but I need to look at her, check her over."
"Steve, come on, let them do their job, Fury is here too, he’s gonna want to speak to you." Bucky intervened.
"Well, he can damned well wait." Steve said before sighing. He then looked at the Paramedic. "I’ll carry her up to the ambulance."
The woman hesitated at first but she could sense he wouldn’t take no for an answer, and he looked considerably stronger than her and her partner together, so she nodded in agreement.
Steve, with a bit of help from Bucky,  got up with Katie held in his arms and as he made his way out of the room he shot a glare at Rumlow who was now awake and having his face looked at by another paramedic. Then, without a glance back he took the stairs slowly and carefully, emerging out of the small janitor's closet and into the larger office. He was halfway across when he felt Katie stir in his arms and relief washed over him.
"Hey, sweetheart." he said softly before pressing a kiss to her head as he walked across the office.
He saw Katie give a faint smile. "Steve?"  Her voice was a hoarse whisper. He smiled back at her "You found me, I knew you would."
"Well you left a good clue." he said and she grinned.
When Steve walked to the door, which the paramedic pushed open, and stepped outside, it was already dark but the lights from the squad cars and the ambulances were flashing through the black of the night as he made his way towards them.
Katie turned her head upwards to the sky and smiled. Steve followed her gaze and saw she was looking at the stars over the sky above them. He looked back at her and she turned her face to his.
"I love you, my star." he whispered, leaning down and brushing his nose against hers gently.
Katie smiled at him "We did it Steve."
"Yeah sweetheart, we cracked the case." Steve nodded.
"I’m not talking about the case." she huffed.
Steve frowned a little, looking at her, wondering if she had concussion because he had no idea what she was talking about.
Katie then let out a little chuckle at the puzzled expression that had crossed his face "I meant us. We made it Steve. You and me. Even if it did take us 10 years."
Steve swallowed. Suddenly there was a lump in his throat and his eyes misted over as he stopped by the ambulance. "Yeah, yeah we did baby."
He climbed into the back easily and kissed her before he set her down on the gurney. Steve let go of her hand and two paramedics followed him inside. Given Steve’s sheer bulk, there wasn’t much room inside the ambulance so Steve agreed to step outside.
"Stevie…" Katie called him, panicking.
"I’ll be with you as soon as I can Doll but I need to let them take care of you ok? I’ll be right outside" he calmed her, his hand brushing over her head before he straightened up fully and climbed out of the ambulance.
As he jumped down onto the floor outside, he spotted Rumlow and Wanda being led to a car. He was seething his hands balling into fists as he watched Thor shoving Rumlow roughly into the back seats. He wanted to reach out and put a bullet between his eyes but he was jolted from his murderous thoughts by Fury's voice.
"Congratulations, Captain." Fury said reaching his hand out for Steve to shake.
"Sir." He nodded.
“I’ll take command now Rogers, you can stay with Stark." Fury ordered.
Steve nodded and Natasha appeared with Clint. "That’s the closest he’ll ever get to saying Thank You." the woman quipped.
Steve snorted a little and looked back into the ambulance and then to Nat and Clint.
"How is she?" Clint asked.
"A little bruised, dazed…she’ll be ok."
"Good." Natasha nodded.
Steve then frowned "How the hell did you all get here so fast?"
“As soon as you messaged us before we scrambled that.” Clint grinned and pointed to something behind them. Steve turned and saw the NYPD helicopter landed in the middle of the field.
"That is so not fair." Tony protested.
A Paramedic then appeared, speaking directly to Steve "We’re going to take her to Christ Hospital. I’m assuming someone is coming?"
Tony looked at Steve and nodded.
"Thanks, Tony." he said, squeezing Tony's shoulder.
"Once we’re locked down out here I’ll follow up with Tony." Bucky offered.
"Thanks, Buck." Steve said, proud of his team, his family, before he climbed in the ambulance.
***** Steve walked down the hospital corridor, coffee in one hand, phone in the other as he tried to placate his mother who was currently babbling at 500 miles per hour into his ear.
“No, Ma…I promise she’s ok?” he soothed, his voice soft and calm.
“And the doctors told you that?” she demanded.
Steve smiled “Yeah. She’s bruised, has light concussion but she just needs to sleep it off.” He stopped outside Katie’s room and placed his phone between his shoulder and his ear so he could open the door without spilling his coffee.
“Ok, well you make sure you call me when she can talk.”
“As she’s able.” He assured her, letting the door click shut silently behind him. At that moment, there was a movement in the bed and Katie stirred, a gentle whimper slipping from her lips. “Ok, Ma, I gotta go. I’ll call you in a bit.” “Ok, love you son.”
“You too.” With that he slipped his phone back in his pocket and set his coffee down on the table besides her bed. He watched as Katie moved again, letting out a little sigh and then blinked as her eyes opened. She looked around a little, clearly gathering her bearings and he could see she was a little startled, but then her eyes fell on him and her entire body relaxed.
“Stevie? What…”
“It’s ok honey.” He soothed “You’re in the hospital.” He sat on chair, leaning to her and with one hand gently brushed her check with the back of his fingers before he curled his arm gently round her head on the pillow “Dumb question but how you feeling?”
“Like I have a really bad hangover.” She swallowed, and Steve chuckled.
“Well you haven’t exactly been partying but I get what you mean.”
She winced a little and closed her eyes for a moment before she turned her head to face him.
“What happened to them?” she asked quietly, her eyes wide.
“They’ve been arrested, Fury’s dealing with it.” He said softly, reaching for her hand with the arm that wasn’t by her head. “It’s over Doll.”
A that she lay back and tears filled her eyes.
“Hey, its ok… come on.” Steve stood up and slid onto the bed next to her and turned on his side. Katie shuffled over into his arms, pressing her face into his chest, giving a little sniff
“Sorry Stevie it’s just…it’s too much…” she sobbed “I can’t…the last few months, this week..”
“Shhhh..hey, there’s nothing to be sorry for.” Steve gently rest one hand softly on the back of her head. “I got you, let it out.”
He held her still, gently stroking her hair, pressing a kiss to her head.
“Rumlow…almost…” She choked a little as Steve pulled her closer, “I thought Wanda was gonna put a bullet in my head.”
“But she didn’t” Steve swallowed, the memory of seeing her in that chair, the gun pointed at her head still fresh in his mind. “You’re safe.”
“My parents…” Katie continued to sob “Stevie, Pierce, he killed them. Tony and you…you’re all I got left and…stills, Oh god, Tony. Where is he? Does he…”
“He knows everything.” Steve’s voice remained calm. “I took a punch to the jaw for that. And you got so much more than just us baby. My ma, Pepper, Nat, Clint, Thor…the entire 99 have been on the phone demanding an update too.”
She laid still for a moment, taking deep gulps of air as she calmed herself. Eventually her shaking died down and she pulled back slightly, looking up at him. “Wait…Tony punched you?” He looked down at her and nodded “Yeah, was a pretty good right hook to be fair.” “Huh. That was rude.” She deadpanned and Steve chuckled. “Well he’s been wanting to punch me since you told him about us. And, shall I remind you he already punched me at the Commendation.” “To be honest, Steve, I wanted to punch you then too.
“I wanted to punch myself.” He added honestly as she pressed her forhead back against his shoulder, taking a deep breath. “I should never have given up on us the way I did” “I might forgive you some day.” She mumbled.
“Well, I intend to spend the rest of my life making up for it.” He said, pressing another kiss to her head. He felt her smile against his neck and then she pulled back and looked up at him, frowning slightly.
“Hey what day is it?”
“Erm…” Steve glanced at his watch over her shoulder “Saturday, for another half hour anyway. Why you ask?”
She flashed him a grin “Happy week’s anniversary.”
Steve lot out a loud laugh as she chuckled lightly “You know it’s hard to believe all this has happened in a week.”
“Yeah, and you know the real crime in all of this?” she quipped, her eyes shining with mischief.
“What?”
“We’ve still only been on one date.”
“Well I’ll have to fix that.” Steve smiled.
“Yeah, yeah you will.” She flashed him another grin before she leaned up and kissed him. Steve’s hand reached up, gently caressing her cheek, thumb skating over her bruised cheekbone as he kissed her back, his tongue softly sliding against hers, losing himself completely before a cough broke them apart.
Steve turned to see Bucky and Tony stood in the doorway, Bucky shaking his head.
“You two are gross.”
Steve simply grinned before he untangled himself from Katie and stood up, allowing Tony to take his place, the Scientist for once remaining silent as he was focussed on nothing but his sister.
“How you doing Kiddo?” he asked, wrapping his arms around her.
“I’ll live.” Katie melted into her brothers embrace as he kissed her head.
“Course you will. You’re one of the strongest people I know.” Steve didn’t miss the slight hitch in Tony’s voice as he spoke “And besides, Pepper needs a bridesmaid.”
“Don’t you think I’m a little too old for the whole being big bro’s bridesmaid?” Katie sniffed a little, pulling back to look up at Tony.
“You’ll always be my kiddo.” She smiled, stroking her cheek “Plus I know you like weddings. Or at least you will until you meet my wedding planner. God he’s a pain in the ass.”
“Sounds familiar.” Steve mumbled.
“Bite me Rogers.” Tony raised his hand and flipped him off as Bucky let out a laugh.
“I was talking about Bucky.”
“Hey…” Bucky’s laughter stopped immediately as he turned to Steve, punching him lightly on his arm “Punk”
“Jerk.” Steve smiled back.
**** Katie was released from hospital the next day. Steve stayed with her all night, the hospital staff who tried to move him getting the full Captain treatment so in the end they decided it was easier to simply leave him be. He lay besides Katie until she fell asleep before he dozed in the chair, returning to her bed when she started to wake, ensuring he was both the last thing she saw before she slept, and the first thing she saw when she was woke.
Fury organised a car for them which took them back to Steve’s for a few days where he waited on her hand and foot, well, when he could that is considering his Ma had also took it upon herself to see to her little Star’s every needs. And then, on Wednesday they head to DC, Thor and Bucky in tow were they spent the day packing up her stuff, loading what they could fit into the cars and helping the removal men to take the big items into storage until Katie decide what to do with it. Steve didn’t want her to go so soon but she was adamant she wanted to close the door on this chapter of her life as soon as possible so he agreed to go provided she simply directed and didn’t lift a finger.
As Steve and Thor maneuverered the coffee a table through the door, Bucky dragged her sofa away from the wall before he straightened up and looked at Katie.
“You know, you might as well just sell all this save us all the trouble.” He grumbled
“I’m gonna need it when I get my own place.” She shrugged. “Bullshit. I know you insist moving in with us is a temporary measure, we know you’re never gonna move anywhere without lover boy.”
Katie rolled her eyes, “Whatever, just shut up and pull that couch out fully will you?”
“This is slave labour.” Bucky naroed his eyes at her.
“According to Sam you don’t mind being a slave under certain circumstances.” She grinned cheekily and Bucky felt his cheeks flush red.
“Shut up doll face.” He practically spluttered and Katie burst out laughing
“So its true!”
“What the…” Bucky looked at her, folding his arms “Wait, were you baiting me?”
Katie shrugged, still giggling “Was worth the shot.”
Bucky glared at her as Steve and Thor walked back into the room. Steve stood for a second, watching as Katie continued to tease Bucky who looked utterly offended at whatever she was saying. The Captain smiled softly, folding his arms over his chest as he leaned on the doorframe. He really did love the way the two of them interacted with such ease. His love and his best friend getting on made his life a lot easier.
“Little Stark…” Thor’s booming voice filled the room, echoing slightly as the room was almost empty “I keep meaning to ask. Have you any friends that I could ask to Tony’s wedding?” “You can’t just blind date to a wedding.” She looked at him, scoffing slightly.
“Why not?” Thor asked.
“Because you can’t!” she protested, shaking her head before Steve saw her grin as an idea had clearly just come to her. “You could always ask Gina.”
“Gina?” Thor asked “The strange lady from the station? “Yeah you have a lot in common.” Bucky nodded.
“I’m not strange Goat keeper.” Thor shook his head “I am mighty.”
“I don’t keep go-you know what?” Bucky sighed “Whatever man… “The man’s strangeness still baffled him, and he doubted that it would ever not.
“Still looks like a llama to me.” Katie mumbled as Steve slid an arm round her, chuckling.
“I heard that Stark.” Bucky shot her a glare as Steve kissed her temple.
Together they finished up and when the last box was moved Steve watched Katie take a last look around.
“You ok?” he asked her, his hand dropping to the small of her back.
“Yeah, just thinking. When I arrived here I was so pissed at you.” She mused, “And now…well, I can’t wait for our future.”
Steve smiled and dropped a soft kiss to her lips “Me either Doll. You ready or do you want a moment?”
“No, I’m good.” She smiled. Slipping her hand into his they walked to the door of the appartment and Katie took the key to the door off her keyring and placed it into an envelope which she removed from her pocket, the landlords name written on the front. She left it on the door mat inside as Steve held the door open for her. Once they were out in the hall she pulled the door shut and they headed to the elevator.
They had a reasonably chilled rest of the week, Steve taking Katie on that well overdue second date on Saturday night taking her to a little Italian his mother swore by and for a few drinks after. Their night ended the same way their last date did, prompting complaints from Bucky on Sunday morning about his sleep once more being disturbed.
Monday morning rolled around far too quickly for Steve’s liking. It had been a nice week off for the two of them, even if it had been forced by less than desirable circumstances, and he didn’t want it to end. As he stirred from his sleep, he reached out, pulling his girl closer to him, pressing a kiss to her shoulder and savouring the last 5 minutes before the alarm went off. When it finally sounded, Katie stirred softly, before stretching and letting out that soft sigh that he knew and loved, signalling she was coming round. Smiling, Steve leaned over, gave her a quick kiss whispering “Good morning sweetheart.” before he climbed out of bed and headed for the shower.
Once he was done, he emerged, towel round his waist and walked into the bedroom where Katie was now up, pulling her clothes out for the day, dressed in his shirt. He gave her a quick peck before she headed out to the bathroom for her own shower. Steve dried off, dressed in a pair of black jeans and a grey Henley before he shoved a pair of sneakers onto his feet and headed down to the foyer to check the post. There were two letters, one for him and one for Bucky. Jogging back up the 3 flights of stairs, he walked back in, tossing the letter for Buck down on the side. He put a pot of coffee on, threw a few rounds of bread into the toaster and leaned back against the counter to open his letter.
“Yesss!” he let out a triumphant yell when he read the letter from the insurance company. They’d finally sent him a cheque for his car.
“Why are you so happy on a Monday morning?” Bucky grumbled, almost stumbling half asleep to the breakfast counter “After a week off as well.”
“Insurance money!” He grinned, waving the cheque before he arched an eyebrow at Bucky, noticing for the first time he was dressed only in a pair of pink and yellow polkadot boxers “Man, couldn’t you at least dress? Katie’s living here now!”
“When she stops parading around in nothing but her panties and your shirts I’ll think about it.” He shot back.
“My ears burning?” Katie asked, as she walked into the kitchen, dressed as ever in her jeans, boots and a button down.
“Yes.” Bucky replied simply.
“Fair enough.” She shrugged.
“Stevie’s rich.” Bucky said, nodding to his friend who poured 3 mugs of coffee, setting them down on the counter. Katie fished the creamer out of the fridge and turned to him.
“You finally got your car money?” she asked.
“Sure did Doll” he grinned. At that point the toast popped up and Steve grabbed it, dropping it hastily onto the board in front of him as it was hot. “So we can go shopping for a new one this weekend.”
Katie handed him the butter. “No old man Car Steve, you’ll ruin my street cred.”
Steve snorted as he buttered the toast, dropping it onto a plat which he placed on the counter, the 3 of them grabbing a piece each. “I’m getting another audi.” He said, shooting her a look before he dropped onto a stool next to Bucky.
“Can’t you at least get the A5?” Katie asked, standing in front of him, leaning against the counter as she sipped her coffe and took a bite from her toast. “They’re so much nicer to look at.” “I’m not gonna be looking at it, Honey, I’m gonna be driving it.” Steve rolled his eyes.
Katie swallowed her toast and Steve saw a wicked grin on her face “Yeah and I drive you so to speak but I still like to look at you too.”
At that Bucky spat his coffee back into the mug and gave a groan “I’m going for a shower.”
Steve flushed a little but grinned nonetheless. Once Bucky had left the room, mumbling about it being too early for gross images to be imprinted in his brain, he reached out and pulled Katie onto his lap. “You’re a bad woman.”
“You like it like that Captain.” She smirked, brushing his still damp hair back slightly
“I’m not your captain anymore, Doll.” He sighed “You ready to bid goodbye to the 101?”
“You’ll always be my Captain.” She said, giving him a quick peck before she stuck the rest of her toast in her mouth. “The most important men in my life have been 101st Captains.”
“And long may it stay that way.” Steve smiled.
“Charmer.
“Only for you…” he said, patting her ass gently “Come on, we best go so you can get your desk packed up before everyone shows up to wave you off.”
She nodded and hopped off his lap.
“I just need to grab something.” He said, standing up and heading back into the bedroom. He made his way straight to the dresser which sat under the TV on the wall and opened one of the drawers. Retrieving the long, slim box he smiled and then made his way back into the living room where Katie was pulling on her leather jacket.
“I got you this.” He smiled, holding the box out. She frowned and took it from him gently “Just a little something for good-luck at the 99…not that you’re gonna need it.” He added quickly as she looked at him, her face curling into a smile.
He watched her face as she opened the box, her mouth falling open as she glanced down at the white gold necklace which sported a diamond studded star pendant. “Oh, Stevie…” she gasped “It’s beautiful!”
“Well I figured that silver one I got you needed an upgrade.” He said softly as she reached up and pulled his face down to hers, giving him a strong peck.
“Can you…?” she asked, handing him the box and turning round. With delicate fingers he fastened the necklace around her neck and she straightened it out so the star hung just below the hollow in her neck. “How does it look?”
“Great.” He smiled, giving her another kiss “Come on, let’s go and get your desk sorted before the inevitable huge goodbye that they all have planned kicks off.”
In all fairness it didn’t take them that long to pack up what she was taking. Most of the stuff from her desk in DC was still in a box under her current desk as she hadn’t unpacked it all, not knowing what was going to happen post the case.  By time they had done Thor, Nat, Clint and Bucky had all arrived. The team shared one last coffee and a “Pretty eyes Danish” as Gina dubbed the pastries Clint provided, before there were some very tearful hugs shared.
“Don’t bother hugging me.” Gina said, holding her hand up “I’ll get to see you at the 99…” with a smirk she looked around “Suck on that, losers.”
Thor grinned, pointing at Gina “This girl, I like her.”
After a final goodbye, which as Nat pointed out wasn’t really goodbye as they’d still be going out and seeing each other a lot, Steve walked down to Katie’s car with her, carrying the biggest box. He placed it in her trunk before he shut it and turned to face her.
“You gonna be ok?”
Katie nodded and leaned up to kiss him. “I’ll call you later at lunch.”
Steve waited until her car had left the parking lot before he sighed, and turned back to the elevator. He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t sad to see her go, but at the same time he was slightly happy about it. Happy because it meant that everything was out in the open, above board. They were free to be together without any worries now, just as they should have been right from the start after Christmas if he hadn’t been such a dumbass about everything.
Still that was behind them now.
That said, he was still distracted for the rest of the morning, his mind on Katie and how she was settling back into her old precinct. He was vaguely aware of Clint running something past him on a robbery case, but what exactly he had no idea. Good job he trusted his team. Eventually at just after 1 his phone rang.
“Hey doll.” Steve smiled as he picked it up, leaning back in his chair, feet on his desk.
“Hey handsome,” “So, how was your morning?”
“Good.” Katie replied, the sile evident in her voice. “Got my desk sorted, a few case files to look over and-“
She was cut off by a loud shout from what sounded like a yell of “CLEAR THE FLOOR!!”
“Are you fucking kidding me, Perralta?” Katie shouted back and Steve winced slightly at the volume of her voice “No, absolutely…oh, Stevie, look, I gotta go…”
“Yeah, sounds…busy” he replied.
“It’s apparently time for the Weekly Monday Lunchtime Derby.” She snorted down the phone. “Perralta and Diaz are about to race round the bull pen on their chairs using fire extinguishers as rocket packs.”
Steve blinked at the utter absurdity of her words before he laughed and shook his head. Holt certainly had his hands full with that lot. He glanced out of his office at his own team just in time to see Bucky throw a pen at Clint who caught it expertly.
“Well, as long as you don’t have to call the fire department.” Steve quipped and Katie snorted.
“No flash fire dudes anywhere to be seen.”
Steve laughed “Ok doll, I’ll see you later.”
“Oh, that reminds me.” She said, “Holt suggested all going for drinks tonight, a welcome back to the 99…you wanna come?”
Steve beamed at the thought of the first public appearance as a couple “Absolutely” he assured her. “Drop me a message and I’ll meet you there.”
**** Steve walked into the busy bar and glanced round. It didn’t take him long to spot Katie with Diaz and Jeffords stood a little way into the room and as he watched Katie tilted her head back in a huge,  genuine laugh, Jeffords also laughing as Diaz gave her trademark smirk. Seeing her so happy and carefree, stirred something in Steve’s chest and he smiled to himself, before he walked over.
He greeted Holt on his way past with handshake as the man congratulated them on the capture of the Serious Cereal Serial Killer, before telling him the number the tab was open under at the bar. Steve patted the man on the shoulder before he continued and reached his girl’s side.
“Hey baby.” He said, sliding an arm round her waist.
She turned to him and smiled as he greeted Diaz with a nod and shook Jefford’s hand with his free one.
“Hi.” Katie breathed out as he dropped his head to give her a quick kiss.
“You need a drink?” he asked. She tossed the remainder of her gin down her throat and grinned.
“I do now.”
He looked at Jeffords and Diaz who both waved him away before he moved towards the bar. Katie followed him and as he stood waiting to be served she slipped her arms round his waist from behind. He turned to look at her to find her simply smiling at him and he grinned back, pulling her in for a deep kiss, before she pulled away and he pressed his forehead to hers, the rest of the bar forgotten completely.
It took them a while to get there, but Katie was right, they’d made it.  And instead of looking back over the past 10 years, cursing himself for wasting so much time, Steve was, for the first time in god knows how long, looking forward and planning on making every single second of their future together count.

“The road to our forever” - Chapter 3
Summary: John and Darcie are planning their wedding, but it comes with certain ups and downs.
John Wick x OFC Darcie

Tumblr media
It’s weird to have a day off, since Darcie is such a workaholic. The two of them are strolling through New York City, with Oreo and Tiki trotting in front of them. They have to kill some time, before they can check out the house. John already told her about the beautiful place he visited, but wanted to keep it all a surprise, saying that it would be nicer if it were a surprise.
Though that is true, he just wants to make sure she gives the place a chance and if she knows what it costs or she even sees it on the site, she’ll say no right away.
John holds Darcie’s hand firmly in his, almost like he’s afraid he’ll lose her. It’s a plausible fear, since it’s pretty crowded and Darcie isn’t the tallest.
It’s always nice to spend time with Darcie. Though they spend every day together, John never gets tired of her.
Hence the reason why he can’t wait to marry her.
They walk through Central Park and plop on a bench. It’s cold outside and Darcie’s nose is as red as Rudolph’s, but she looks cute. She always does. Tiki takes places on John’s lap and he smiles when he sees Oreo snuggled against Darcie. That dog really loves her, always smiling at her, licking her hand and attached to her like velcro.
‘John,’ Darcie says, gaining his attention, ‘do you think we’re boring?’
He frowns. ‘Why are you asking that?’
‘Because I was watching some vlogs on YouTube and saw these couples do all these fantastic and adventurous things together. Now I know that you should never compare yourself to them, because it’s fake anyways, but I realized that we barely do anything. Mainly because I’m always working. I mean, you have all the time in the world. And money for that matter.’
John wraps his arm tightly around her petite frame, his embrace already so much warmer than she initially is. ‘I don’t think we are boring. We have fun in our own way. I don’t really need to go out and do a lot of things with you. But if you want to do more things outside of the house, meaning you need to work a little less, you don’t hear me complaining.’
She rolls her eyes, before she starts chuckling. ‘So, you don’t think we are boring?’
‘No, sweetheart. I think we are the opposite of boring. Maybe not as adventurous as other couples might be, but we are certainly not boring.’ John leans over to give her a long kiss on her lips, before pressing his forehead against hers. Their noses bump against each other, causing John to note: ‘Your nose is cold.’
‘I am freezing.’
Before he can say anything to that, they hear a: ‘John, how are you, man?’
They both look up and John recognizes him immediately. ‘Aurelio,’ he says, holding out his hand. ‘This is my fiancée Darcie. Darcie, this is Aurelio. He owns a chop shop and we used to work together.’
‘Nice to meet you, Aurelio,’ she says with a bright smile, holding out her hand.
‘It’s lovely to meet you, Darcie.’ He shakes her hand. ‘I think congratulations are in order. Last time I spoke to John, you were his girlfriend.’
‘When did you speak to John?’
Aurelio looks at John, before he says: ‘When you were taken by that psycho.’
John never told her about how he took preparations, but that was mainly because she never asked. He always has issues with opening up about those types of things and when she doesn’t  ask, he can’t open up about that.
Darcie seems unfazed as she nods.
Aurelio pats Oreo’s head. ‘Just saw you two sitting here,’ Aurelio continues. ‘Figured I asked how you were doing.’
‘Thanks, man,’ John says.
‘By the way, Darcie, I heard you did an interview with a magazine. Pretty big deal, was it not?’
Darcie nods, her eyes beginning to shine bright. ‘Yes, I did an interview with Harper’s Bazaar. It already caused a ton of people coming by, really amazing. Didn’t peck you for a guy who reads that kind of magazine, though.’
Aurelio can’t help but laugh. ‘No, I heard about it. You own a pretty successful cafe, right?’
‘Mhm, you should stop by. Tomorrow I’m working again. John is there a lot too, maybe you two can catch up a little.’
He nods. ‘Sounds like a plan. I can come by at ten.’
‘Ten is perfect,’ Darcie says with a smile that just keeps getting brighter and brighter.
Aurelio takes off, patting the dogs on their heads and Darcie looks to the side. ‘Are you mad at me?’ she asks.
‘Why do you ask?’
‘Because I invited him over.’ She warms her hands a bit, but it seems more like a nervous thing. ‘I just did it, figured it might be nice for you to catch up with him. I didn’t even consider that you might not want that, since he was part of your older life. I should’ve let you decide. I’m sorry’
John shakes his head. ‘No, sweetheart. I think it’s great that you invited him over. Aurelio and I used to get along pretty good.’ He really doesn’t want to talk to her about his past, but with the way she’s looking at him right now, he can’t help but tell her. She deserves to know. ‘When I got out out the first time and Helen had died, he helped me out a bit. I’ll tell you the details about that later, okay?’ He looks a little bit around him, seeing the crowds forming around them.
She nods. ‘I understand.’
‘When you went missing, I wanted to go to my house in Mill Neck, where I had my own stuff, but I didn’t have time to lose, so I went to him.’
‘He sounds like a friend,’ she says.
‘I don’t consider us friends, really.’
‘I do.’ Darcie places her hand on his leg and says: ‘He helped you out twice, he sees you here, comes over to say hi and wants to spend time with you in my cafe. Acquaintances don’t do that, John. Friends do.’
⟢⟡⟣
‘You are fucking kidding me, I hope?’ Darcie asks, when she got out of the car, holding Tiki close to her chest, since the poor thing is really cold. ‘This is the house you wanted to check out?’
‘It is, sweetheart,’ John says, placing his arm around her shoulder, holding Oreo’s leash in his hand. ‘Don’t you think it looks beautiful already?’
‘It looks big,’ she says. ‘And unaffordable.’
John can’t respond to that, since the door opens and the friendly realtor Harry walks outside. ‘Mister Wick!’ he says in an ecstatic voice. ‘You made it.’
‘Hi, Harry,’ John says, ‘this is my fiancée Darcie. Darcie, this is the realtor Harry.’
‘Future Mrs. Wick,’ Harry says, shaking her hand, ‘mister Wick already told me you were going to love this place.’
She looks up to John. ‘Did he now?’ she asks, cocking an eyebrow.
‘Oh, you have such sweet dogs,’ Harry says, glancing at Oreo. ‘Mister Wick told me about your wishes for kids. Well, you are going to love this place then. Very kid friendly. Follow me.’ He walks inside and Darcie clears her throat.
‘What more did you share?’ she asks.
‘Not much,’ he laughs, pressing a kiss on her temple. ‘You heard the man, follow him.’
Darcie nearly dislocates her jaw while she walks through the house. John thinks that she doesn’t even hear what Harry has to say. She stares at the indoor pool, the large kitchen and when they arrive at the roof terrace, she is still speechless.
‘Future Mrs. Wick has been very quiet,’ Harry says, while Darcie is looking at the windows in the master bedroom, one that John plans for them to have, because of the balcony.
‘She is just thinking,’ John whispers back, but to be fair, he doesn’t really know what is going on inside her head. Darcie has a frown between her furrowed brows, but he can’t quite categorize it. He doesn’t know what her frown means and not being able to read his fiancée’s facial expressions… That has never happened before and John doesn’t know if that is a good sign of a very bad sign.
‘Harry, could you leave us alone for a minute?’ John asks and Harry walks out of the room within a few seconds. ‘Okay, sweetheart, tell me what you think.’
‘How much is this place?’ Darcie asks him. ‘And be honest with me.’
Is she mad? Maybe it wasn’t a good idea for them to check out this place when she’s on her period. This morning she snapped at him for eating a little too loud.
‘It’s forty.’
‘Forty what?’
‘Million.’
‘For fuck’s sake, John,’ she exclaims. ‘I don’t have that kind of money.’
‘But I do,’ John simply states. ‘Sweetheart, you never have to worry about money ever again.’
‘You keep saying that,’ Darcie says. ‘You say that every time I want to tell you that my engagement ring was too much. You say that when you tell me that I can have the wedding of my dreams, because you’re going to pay for it. You say that about my still to buy wedding dress, our honeymoon to Japan and I already know you are planning something extravagant for that trip. You want to pay for the tickets for my family to fly over from South Korea and you are already checking the best and the most expensive hotels around here.’
‘So?’
She sighs deeply. ‘John, you worked for that money and to just spend it on this townhouse for forty million dollar…’
‘It’s not that I’m broke after buying this place, sweetheart,’ he tries to reassure her.
‘There must be houses that are less expensive and just as beautiful.’
‘Aha, so you like this place?’
Darcie rolls her eyes, before a small smile appears on her face. ‘I mean, yeah… It’s beautiful and I can totally see us living here with our kids, but I can’t live like this, knowing that you payed for this.’
‘Darcie, my money is yours to spend. I have too much of it, really. Spending it on you and with you, is the greatest investment for me. One day, in the far far future, when I die, I leave all that money to you and our kids and when you die, the kids get the remaining money.’ John shrugs like it’s nothing.
‘But what if we get divorced before you die?’ Darcie asks. ‘Don’t you think we should sign at least a prenup? Just in case.’
‘We’re not divorcing, Darcie. I’m not going to let you go and if we somehow do get divorced, I don’t mind that you get half of it.’
She nearly pulls out her hairs. ‘John, this is a lot.’
He shrugs. ‘Barely.’
‘For me it’s a lot,’ she adds. ‘But this place… It’s so beautiful. I just want you to think about this really well, because this is a huge amount of money.’
‘I can pay for it,’ John says. ‘Don’t you worry about it.’
Darcie sighs deeply. She frowns again, looking around her. John’s heart starts to race. What if she doesn’t like it? What if she says no? Will there be an even more perfect house for them on the market?
‘It’s close to your work,’ John says, hoping he can persuade her. ‘We can park our car in front of the door, always. It’s close to schools, I’ve already been checking those out. It’s close to tons of things to do with kids. I mean, it’s very close to Central Park.’
Darcie walks up to him and wraps her arms around his shoulders. She brings her lips to his ear and whispers: ‘When can we move in?’

Hitman 3 - First Impressions w/ Spoilers
I’m posting this just after I’ve beaten Hitman 3, and I wanted to do something productive with my experiences playing it both for when I look back on my first time playing this game and also to do something more than just play video games like a degenerate
If you want my basic yay or nay opinion I think Hitman 3’s great, maybe the best of the trilogy but I might just be burnt out on replaying 2’s levels and am not thinking right, but keep in mind this is after playing thru each level once. Not to say these levels don’t make good or bad first impressions for a reason but I know not to trust myself when I say I enjoy or dislike something especially a Hitman level after only a little time with it. Keep in mind I didn’t like Sapienza and liked Colorado at first, but at the same time my opinion of Whittleton Creek and Marrakesh either haven’t changed much or only gotten more positive with time. So it’s a roll of a dice
Anyway I’ve written down my notes on every level I’ve played right after finishing it, which I’ve put below. There are going to be spoilers of elements like mission stories (which I dabbled a little bit in) and objectives and I’d recommend going in as blind as possible with Hitman. I don’t mind spoilers myself but I think you feel smarter when you stumbled on half the shit you do in these games
Dubai: very strong opener. I think that some of the shortcut design, one of the few new features of 3, kind of limits up front exploration but I still really liked the verticality and how climbing up pipes could take you up like two floors. Targets seem to have the appropriate amount of blind spots, tho I’m not sure how I’d tackle Marcus in that big open area. To me this level reminds me of House of Cards but better, out of the other first levels of the trilogy (Paris, Hawke’s Bay and Dubai) I choose this as my favourite so far. I killed Marcus by snapping his neck after knocking him out in that white room near the elevator, I got caught and killed some witnesses only for Omar to find the bodies. I killed Carl by throwing him off the building, sacrificing his waiter to do so
Dartmoor: Actually managed to SA this one, I didn’t go forward with the murder mystery just yet as I wanted to see 1) if it could be cheesed since it’s a one target mission and b) to see how well it holds up without doing that. To see if it’s just a gimmick or not. Turns out? Pretty darn well. I did encounter some of the stuff I didn’t like about the Hitman 2 AI with Alexa, namely if you have a weapon out and she gets a slight glance at you she goes into lockdown and while trying to cheese her under a chandelier when she goes to meet with you/the detective. However, it was at least consistent this time until in WoA2, she never fell for me trying to cheese it whereas if this was Hitman 2 it’d work 50% of the time and drive you mad. I did manage to get her under a chandelier, because in this game’s case personal bodyguards are easier to get rid of and there’s usually only one if they have one so I was proud of that. I love doing non-laid out kills in Hitman, one of my favourite things. I love the level design here, the mansion is big and brooding and so is Alexa’s route it seems. I loved finding out the secrets like using the cane to open doorways and using the camera to find pieces of the code for the Edwards safe. I got the 9, 7 and 5 ones and was going to brute force the code but turns it the solution was 1975. The level takes atmospheric cues from Beldingford Manor but I got real Paris vibes from the verticality which I loved
Berlin: I thought this mission wouldn’t impress me with its gimmick but it’s my favourite so far. The atmosphere and rave soundtrack gave me chills, and THIS is how you do target AI. There are a total of eleven or twelve potential targets I think, and all of them use guard AI. You have to track down and kill at least five of them, giving a unique and dynamic gimmick for this mission which I’ll love to replay. Target routes seem good too and your first playthrough where you’re winging it is even more fun here when you don’t know where your targets are really coming from. The mission is also really surprisingly massive, it might be the biggest one so far despite only having ten disguises (I don’t think we’re going to top Miami’s 29). I also loved that you could poison some fast food and have a biker take it inside
Chongqing: this is a great example of the knee jerk nature of these first impressions, not that this level will be bad but I feel like I’m speaking a little too soon when I say this might be one of my favourite levels of the trilogy. I was a little disappointed when the level wasn’t Mumbai 2.0, being more vertical than horizontal in scale but I ate my words when I experienced it. This is probably the weirdest level of the trilogy but so cool at the same time. At first I tried getting Hush with his satellite dish, and sniping him from his little area. I died. Then I became a test subject and started messing with his brain, making him take a break and killing him when he’s at his desk. I got caught however and had to make a break for it. Then I infiltrated the ICA data banks by becoming the board member, but then I had to sneak into his apartment since I didn’t know the code, but then I heard the code when I answered his answering machine. I really like the introduction of keypads and hope they stay, they reward map knowledge and let you skip having every door be locked via lockpick. Then I distracted and KO-ed Imogen’s guard and pushed her off the data core railing. What proceeds is a great bit of fan service where it shows almost every target from the trilogy as 47 deletes the info ICA has on him and then one of my favourite moments of the series (in terms of scripted stuff, I’ll always prefer stuff like sniping Rico from the jungle) where you have to escape the burning facility while avoiding the now entirely hostile guards. I’m super glad this and other story beats are confirmed optional on replays, but I’d happily replay this regularly because it was so fun to Splinter Cell the level for the last minute
Mendoza: Another great level. I wasn’t expecting it to be so big but even that big field you can see over the balcony is explorable. Feels more like A Vintage Year throwback than Santa Fortuna was. I quite like the kill opportunities that I saw, sniping Yates from the top of his house and finding wine to serve Vidal was what I went for. Also love that Diana is in the level physically, she even hides behind a box if you caught an alert. Yates’ house is very intimate but very well designed. Wasn’t expecting the tactical wetsuit to be here as a disguise but it was a cool thing I found
The Train: this level is simultaneously an awesome and disappointing end to the trilogy. The idea itself is great and the hallucinations that begin the level are really imaginative, but that nightmare intro gameplay wise is just you walking forward. It’s the exact opposite of the reason why I like Hitman, I like Hitman because it isn’t like those triple A “walk forward while dialogue plays” kind of games. It’d maybe work better if they had you shoot every target you’ve ever killed in this dream and then top it off with the one proper gameplay moment that’s in the real thing where you press the button that kills Diana’s parents. Then the level itself after that intro is way too linear, I know it’s a train but there could’ve been way more options with how to go about it. There is a great final moment with Edwards and I love that it encourages combat for the first time in the trilogy, but it could’ve been a lot better. Ideally this would be the seventh level after a proper sixth but I think it’d be more palatable if it was more replayable than it is. Because at the moment it doesn’t have Contracts mode, probably won’t get escalations and definitely won’t get an ET. Which puts it behind Hawke’s Bay, which is a regular punching bag for its lack of content
The Story: surprisingly, I loved it. I’ve always thought this trilogy had excellent worldbuilding but used some plot contrivances to get from level to level. This time while the worldbuilding isn’t quite as solid the story is actually pretty great and goes in a lot of interesting directions which I think would make great sequel material. 47 essentially kills the ICA and the game ends with him and Diana becoming independent agents. So they’ll be doing the same thing without the immunity a giant organisation like the ICA has, which could lead to interesting conflict in the ninth Hitman game. I also like this game’s portrayal of the ICA, they’re a lot more professional than in Absolution but it goes for a similar take of showing how brutal they are
In Conclusion: For the most part Hitman 3 is excellent and I loved it, probably about as much as the previous Hitman 2 and the Paris level of Hitman 1 in terms of first time experiences with these games. There were some downs with the Carpathian Mountains and elements of the game design but it’s still another solid new Hitman game. I can understand why the reviewers loved this one over Hitman 2, while I loved that game’s levels this game’s levels feel a lot weirder and that’d leave a much stronger first impression. Ofc being the second sequel to 2016 nothing’s really changed much. While there are improvements to the way guns feel and the fluidity of 47’s movement it’s nothing groundbreaking. The new map features, while cool, aren’t selling points IMO. If you love Hitman buy this, if you love stealth buy this, if you love mucking about in a sandbox buy this, but if you’ve never been interested in Hitman or this gameplay style of Hitman it’s best to avoid this. It’s a very good third season of Hitman, whether you like it or not. In terms of my thoughts on the levels my personal ranking rn would probably be Chongqing > Mendoza Berlin> Dubai > Dartmoor > Carpathian Mountains (AKA the Train level)

Of Doms & Subs 8: What Could Possibly Go Wrong?
Tumblr media
Pairing: Angus Hopper x OFC
Summary:  What’s a submissive female to do when she fights her nature and goes on the run as a Lone wolf to avoid being assimilated into a pack?
Word count: 1346
Of Doms & Subs Master List
“Hey, Moira, would you take a short walk with me?”  While I was still bearing a grudge against her mate, I genuinely liked the witch, who merely laughed at me for sniffing her and trying to figure out the strange new nose-tingling smell.  She informed me that it was magic.
“Ok, spill it,” she whispered once we were out of earshot.
“Spill what?”
“I’m blind, not deaf, so don’t try to lie to me.”  She poked me hard in the shoulder.
“I want to test something.  I was wondering if we could wander up the main road,” I admitted.
“You’re trying to bypass the geis by having me act as escort,” she laughed.  Obviously the rumour mill carried the tale of my misdemeanour to her.  “Yeah, he didn’t word that one quite right, did he?”
“I figure ‘proper escort’ is subject to interpretation.  A witch has got to count, right?  Besides, if this doesn’t work, I’ll steal Ian’s Ford Escort,” I shrugged.
“If this loophole works, Angus is going to be pissed,” she warned.
“Just keeping my options open.”
“Is it really that bad?”
“No,” I sighed.  “Angus wants me for the pack.”  Ugh, that was weird to say.  And I said so.  “I don’t like to be tied down.  Outside of the bedroom anyway.”
“Fyi, normal handcuffs won’t work now.  Just saying.”  A faint blush coloured her cheeks.  “Wolves can be just as promiscuous as us humans, but once they start falling for something that’s it.  Done.  Game over.  End.  Finito.  Do not pass go, go directly to mating.”
“Not helping, witch.”  As a human, she couldn’t smell moods, could she?  I was scared to ask how she knew or where she was going with this because I didn’t think I’d like the answer.  “Out of control hormones are not good enough reason to jump into bed with someone.  And certainly not after having known them less than a week.”
“Then try this on for size: you’re afraid to play bedwarmer.  But you’re also too afraid to tie yourself to him in a non-sexy fashion.  Maybe instead of worrying about what he wants, first ask your two halves what they want,” she suggested.
“It’s a little early for a verdict,” I frowned.
“The only two people I know whose wolves chose before their human parts knew within hours of meeting each other.  Tom and I fell the first time we met.”
“I did the whole love at first sight bit, and have no desire to be that stupid again.  Here we are,” I said when our path went from gravel to blacktop.  I dropped her arm momentarily to step back and forth from the pack property to the road with ease.  “Please don’t tell anyone about this.”
“I won’t lie, but I won’t volunteer any info either,” warned Moira.
“That’s all I ask.”  I held my arm out to brush against hers so she could take it at her leisure.
“Tom’s going to ask what we talked about, so let’s get our story straight.  Cop and wolf instincts, killer combo when it comes to interrogations.  So how about that popular sports team?”
“When’s football season over again?” I asked mournfully.
“Superbowl’s in February.  But that’s only a problem if you’re stuck at the house on game days.  If you are, you’ll have to come kidnap me.  I’d offer to come rescue, but for some asinine reason they won’t give me a driver’s license.”
“Hey, do you want to drive?  You can take my Jeep for a spin in the driveway,” I offered.
“You’re kidding.”  Dark brows rose over the sunglasses.
“I never kid when it comes to shenanigans.  I take my shenanigans very seriously,” I swore solemnly while fishing my spare set of keys out from under the back bumper and unlocked the doors.  “This is the ignition key.”  I handed the ring to her with the one in question pressed into her fingers.  “Let’s hop in and I’ll show you where to stick it.”
“Ooh, no one’s said that to me since high school,” she smirked.
After we both buckled up, I talked her through starting the engine and shifting into gear, guiding her hand when appropriate.  After getting the pedals sorted out, we inched forward.  Men were coming around the house, summoned by the sound of the engine.
“Turn the wheel a quarter turn to your right.”  We slowly arced so that it was obvious to the spectators that the blind witch was driving.  I blithely waved while continuing to give verbal directions, only guiding the wheel slightly once or twice.  “Now gun the gas and turn all the way to the left.”  We squealed with laughter as we spun around, gravel crunching and spraying under the tires.  Instinct caused her to let off the gas before we continued to spin out and possibly lose control.
“Now put her in park and turn off the engine so your mate and my Alpha can come rip me a new one.”  Even though he wasn’t officially my Alpha yet in any sense of the word, the words felt right, which was disturbing in and of itself.
“Should we make a break for it?” she asked.
“Eh, we’d have to return sometime.  I don’t know you well enough yet to pull a Thelma and Louise.”  I pocketed the keys and propped a foot on the dash.
“Is there a problem, officer?” Moira asked innocently as Tom approached her open window.
“What were you thinking?” Tom bellowed.  At her, not me.  My own personal bane was yanking my door open.
“Out,” he snapped.  Oh, this was too easy.
“Yes, you are outside.”
“Get out of the car.”  He bit off each word.  He must have seen the glint in my eye because he added, “Now.”  He slammed the door behind me hard enough to rock the poor car.
“You would have walked away if she’d managed to roll the Jeep, but she’s human,” he snapped.  There was definitely something wrong with me because the danger and power that rolled off of him when he was mad did very naughty things to my body.
“A) I know far more about the fragility of humans than you do.  B) We never went over fifteen mph.  That little show was really just shifting the weight around.  And C), at most it would have tipped onto the side I was on.  We even wore seatbelts.”
“So instead you put yourself at risk for a little stunt?”
“Or maybe I understand what it’s like to be denied certain freedoms,” I said quietly, but with no less feeling.
“Give me the keys.”
“I already gave you keys.  Check with Shane, he should have the original set.”  I bounced the spares once in my palm before chucking them into the ditch full of murky water by the road.  I could do this submission thing as long as I found enough loopholes.
After her little act of defiance, which had happened with the Jeep between us and the rest of the pack thus obscuring her actions, she mingled quite thoroughly.  Somehow she’d picked up the trick of gauging distance and hearing so as to pitch her voice quietly enough to avoid being overheard.  No one knew of our exchange.  Too bad that she was adept at following the letter of the law if not the spirit.  I’d have liked to punish her.  Thoroughly and publicly.
I didn’t see what pathetic excuse started the fight.  But I knew who started it.  Ellie was standing with her back to Ian and Gordon, who had borne the brunt of Ian’s territorial aggression during the football match.  The next anyone knew, Ian went flying.  Shane had just enough warning to grab Ellie’s arm and try to drag her to safety.
Later, I realized I should have broken up the fight, immediately meted out punishment for putting others at risk.  If I had, the two males might not have survived my wrath.  But I would never regret running to Ellie’s crumpled body, surrounded by chunks of brick and blood splatters.
Note:  I have let a blind person drive my sedan in an empty parking lot before, so it is possible with a lot of verbal direction and a ready hand to grab the wheel just in case. Jeeps are top heavy, although not as much as other SUV's, so at higher speeds on gravel there is a slight chance of tipping. However the parking area that I'm picturing at the Emerald City Pack's house in Issaquah is too small with all the other vehicles to get up to a speed that would present that risk. At least they didn't go mudding in the green space that the guys were playing football in.

i’ve had an hc that dakota is native american for a long time now, and after reading this awesome post i was inspired and like “what if he and piper were cousins??” so let me share some things i’ve imagined about them so far (warning: this is one long ass post):
- they were both born and raised in tahlequah, oklahoma (not in a reservation tho bc there’s no cherokee reservation in oklahoma, rick’s an idiot who doesn’t research anything)
- dakota is two years older than piper and that made him a bit overprotective of her while growing up. even when they were kids, piper got a lot of attention from mostly other boys (which would later make her feel super self conscious of her own looks) and dakota would pick up on her discomfort and shoo away all of them in an instant
- like seriously, he’s a pretty observant kid and piper would always flinch when a boy got too close for comfort. so dakota was always more than ready to help her out
- imagine how overjoyed grandpa tom was when he found out he was going to be a grandpa, twice, in such a short span of time. dakota had barely just turned 1 year old when tristan announces the woman he’s dating is pregnant tom cried so much, bless him
- now grandpa is no fool though. he knew something was up with the ppl his children were dating, he knew they weren’t ordinary folks. and he suspected his future grandchildren wouldn’t be exactly ordinary either. and how right he was
- just a few months after he was born in september 1992, baby dakota was taken on a little trip with his mom and grandfather around tulsa and they came across a huge vineyard
- it’s january and it’s hecking cold (like 50ºF/10ºC) and the vines, as you’d expect, are basically dead. that’s when something remarkable happens: the plants start to reach out towards dakota and the closer he is to them, the livelier they get
- grandpa is shocked to say the least but he plays it cool. he just turns towards his daughter and calmly asks “care to explain please” to which she then proceeds to spill the beans about how she met the roman god of wine whose son is currently being held by grandpa tom
- tom is really surprised that his daughter dated an actual immortal deity from ancient times, or that they even exist at all (he thought greek myths, and therefore roman by extension, were a bunch of bull). yet at the same time he’d been suspecting the dude wasn’t completely human for a while now...
- in the end he happily accepts both his daughter’s love for bacchus (if that’s even who he really is) and the son they had, and never loves dakota any less even now that he knows he’s a demigod
- except they don’t tell tristan bc 1. bacchus told dakota’s mom to keep it a secret (whoops), 2. tristan’s a skeptic who doesn’t believe in any kind of myths so what’s the point and 3. tristan’s sweetheart is pretty high guard about her own identity and grandpa’s noticed this and he thinks she’s hiding the truth from his son for a good reason (again, he is such a skeptical man, he’d probably think they were all insane)
- april 1994. piper is born and an almost 2 y/o dakota is finally introduced to the cousin he’d been hearing so much about
- both love their grandfather and listening to stories about their culture. and grandpa loves that his grand-kids are so keen on learning
- they live a pretty happy childhood overall. apart from dakota’s innate abilities to making vines grow whenever he walks by (though he remains oblivious to this bc his mom goes to great efforts to ensure he doesn’t find out so soon, he’s still a little kid after all), none of his other powers manifest all that much when he’s a toddler. and neither do piper’s
- ofc, being demigods they’re constantly exposed to the danger of being discovered by monsters but they luck out and continue living in ignorant bliss of their godly parentage
- they love being outside. playing, napping, talking, whatever it is, they don’t like being indoors. they’re always running around everywhere, climbing trees, rolling around in the grass, etc it’s a very rare occurrence when they manage to return home with clean clothes
- they just have a looot of energy and they like using it. getting them to calm down is a challenge in itself, they’re always goofing around. whether they’re having a nice family dinner (food fights tend to occur more often than not), or watching cartoons before bedtime (reenacting cool fight scenes is a must!)
- but then one day, just a few weeks after his 8th birthday, dakota shows up at tristan’s house with his mom and she says she needs to talk with his uncle and grandfather
- the kids are told to go play for a little while in the backyard to let the grown ups have some privacy
- dakota is uncharacteristically quiet. piper notices it right away, how her cousin’s shoulders are slacked and his eyebrows furrowed in distress. she asks what’s wrong, what happened to make him so sad
- “i have to move away” he says. piper is shocked, starts asking why. why, where to, and can’t the whole family go with him?
- “no. just me. somewhere far away”. “but why?!”. “because it’ll be bad if i don’t”
- the rest of the day goes by in a blur. piper can’t understand what’s happening. why does dakota have to go all alone? why can’t her aunt go too? why don’t her dad or her grandfather try to stop them?
(- later, when piper demands her dad for explanations, tristan only says what his sister told him: that dakota needs to go somewhere that’ll be better for him, that piper’s aunt can’t take care of him by herself. grandpa tom tells her the same thing whenever piper turns to him but he knows. his daughter told him the truth)
- saying goodbye is the only moment that seems to last an eternity though. piper is full on crying and sobbing, holding on to dakota with all her strength and begging her cousin to stay, stay and everything will be okay bc he’ll be with her and all the people who love him
- dakota cries too, though not as hard. he’s barely keeping it together but he’s the older cousin and he needs to be strong for piper
- inside though he’s terrified of what’s happening to him. to him and to his mom and now his dear little cousin and his uncle and grandpa. he wants to stay but bacchus was clear during his sudden unexpected visit: he needs to go to the wolf house right away
- his mom takes him there. this goodbye is even more terrible than the previous one. in the midst of all the crying he promises that he’ll be okay, that he loves her and will visit as soon as he can
- dakota hadn’t had the fortune (or permission) of visiting his mom and granddad back in tahlequah often. and the few times he had managed, piper had been away with her dad on his trips looking for a job as an actor in los angeles
- one day, now 13 y/o, he was at his mom’s place with his grandfather too, just sitting and talking and enjoying each other’s company when they decided it was time to tell him the horrible news: his grandpa had been diagnosed with lung cancer
- tom reassured him all throughout his grandson’s hysterics that he felt fine and that he was at peace with the situation
- and then dakota asked the dreaded question
- “... how long?”
- “... soon”
- when dakota made it back to camp he started asking around for possible cures, talking with praetors and centurions and just about anyone who might help him
- though in the end he didn’t find any medicine that could possibly save his grandfather
- and it’s not like the romans really cared for helping outsiders either
- the day he got the news grandpa tom had passed away, just a little over 2 months later, he refused to leave his bunk bed for the remainder of it and it took his two centurions to force him out of it the next morning
(- dakota swears that, out of all the days he’d felt the most lonely and in need of the warm comfort of his family, that had been the most painful one he’d endured in his whole life)
(- he also wondered if piper had known about their grandfather’s condition, and for one moment he actually hoped she didn’t just so she could be spared of going through the same despair he and the rest of their family had)
(- he’d also wished, more ardently than ever before, to be able to hug his beloved little cousin again just like he had so many times years before)
- fast forward to 2010. dakota is standing with the rest of the romans at cj, staring at a greek ship that quickly approaches camp
- his long time friend jason is said to be on board and dakota is just dying to give the dude the longest and most bone crushing hug ever
- plot twist: it’s piper who gets the pleasure of receiving the longest and most bone crushing hug ever. but she returns it tenfold rip dakota’s back
- their reunion was a hazard mix of tears, laughter and wrestling. he and jason happily gave piper a tour of the camp, though tbh she didn’t really pay attention to much, catching up with her fave cousin was obviously the priority
- during her quest to save the world, she iris messages dakota as regularly as she can and they talk for hours on end, sharing stories from their past, their family, their beloved grandpa tom whom they missed terribly every single day, everything really
- piper confides in him how much her dad’s lack of interest and pride for cherokee culture has rocked her own, how growing up with him so absent from her life and so worried with rejecting everything cherokee/native american related had made her feel so uncomfortable in her own skin
- dakota takes all this in silence and just lets her get it all out. he hears her every complaint and insecurity and fear. then he starts telling her the stories their grandfather had told them
- he tells at least 2 different ones every night they talk, always with a smile on his face, always trying to replicate the exact same tone and pace their granddad used
- and it eventually gets piper to smile too
- one night it’s dakota who confesses how much he regrets not visiting tahlequah more often, how he wishes he’d spent more time with thomas before he’d passed away, how he wished he’d been with him during those last few days if not to just hear him going on and on about cherokee myths like he loved to
- that gets piper crying in no time. dakota cries too. they just spend a good 10 minutes sobbing together through their reflections in the watery rainbow, neither saying much
- “i’m glad he told us. the stories i mean”, dakota says when they’ve calmed down. “feels like he gave us little pieces of himself bit by bit that’ll never go away”
- “yeah... it really does”
- when the war’s finally over, piper and dakota visit each other often, though piper’s the one who goes to cj more often since dakota’s a centurion and has his plate full most of the time
- they’re still as goofy and energetic around each other as ever, like the time they spent away from each other was like clicking pause on a movie and now they’ve hit play and continued on from there
- still hate being trapped indoors. when there’s camp meetings they both need to attend they just can’t help but joke around. everyone else dreads going to those now thanks to these idiots
- dakota isn’t as chaotic as piper so he somewhat helps to keep that side of her in check
- when leo accompanies her during her visits though... no point in even trying to hold back this Mess, dakota’s tried before and it was the most stressful and tiring day of his fucking life
- piper constantly teases dakota about his crush on her half-brother michael. he very much regrets the day she ever saw how he acted around the son of venus (a blushy neck scratching mess)
- wow this is getting long fhdkds anyway!! they’re amazing kids who love each other to death and constantly support each other through good and bad times, and they’re proud af to be cherokee and they’ll treasure their beloved grandpa tom and his teachings till the end of their lives, and if anyone ever wants to hear a story, they’re the right kids to go to!

Discordancy #1
SUMMARY: Hawkeye has a long and varied past. He’s been a carnie, a spy, a superhero, even a brainwashed soldier. He also was, no matter how much he hates to admit it, an ex-criminal. It’s a part of his past he moved on from long ago and hoped he could just forget ever happened. But when an old associate contacts him for help, Clint is reminded that not everything he had so desperately tried to leave behind was something bad.
CHARACTERS/PAIRING: Clint Barton/OFC
WORD COUNT: 2,590
WARNINGS: heavy petting
"I can't believe that worked, you beautiful bastard!" Eris cries out, draping herself in the passenger seat. "That was such a rush, I could kiss you right now!"
Clint gives an easy smile in response, leaning back now that he has the luxury of driving slower. "By all means, don't fight it if you—"
The rest of his words are lost as his face is abruptly turned and his mouth covered by soft lips pressing eagerly against his. His lips part in silent surprise, and Eris takes the opportunity to dart her tongue in to swipe against his, bringing with it a taste of smoke and cinnamon he somehow finds intoxicating. But before he can register her actions enough to kiss back, Eris is pulling away, a grin on her lips and fire in her eyes.
He should have known right then and there that she'd be trouble for him.
Clint shook the memory off as he looked up at the nondescript hotel looming above him then back down at the text that had made its way onto his phone.
Hey Francis,
Long time, no chat! Just thought I'd see how you've been doing. How's the wife? Everest is lonely without your jokes, but I'm still climbing it!
-X
It was a code he hadn't seen in a long time. Her code. She had even signed it with her usual kiss.
'Need help Ronin. Meet at hotel.'
He never thought he'd step foot back in such a place after SHIELD took him in—never thought he'd be allowed to step foot back in—but he could already feel that warm familiarity slip over him like a well-worn jacket as he stepped into the polished lobby, old habits making their way back into his gait.
"Good evening, Ronin," The Concierge warmly greeted. "It has been quite the long time since we have seen you around here. We are pleased to see you make use of our services once again."
"Evening, sir. It's, uh," Clint huffed out in incredulity, and the man's smile only grew more smug, "it sure is interesting to be back."
"And how may we help you this evening?"
Clint scratched at his chin. "Ah, I'm here to find an old friend, actually." He held up his hands in a gesture of good will at the sharp look in The Concierge's eye. "Don't you worry, I know the rules. Just looking for a drink and a chat, I swear."
The Concierge hummed noncommittally, flipping through his ledger. "Well, you're in luck that a room has already been reserved in your name, though payment will still be required." There was a slap of folded notes on the marble surface, but the man made no acknowledgement. "And you have a booth reserved in the lounge for midnight. We trust you can find your way there?"
"Mm, yeah. Thanks, man."
Clint made to take the offered room key, and was given one last unsettling smile by The Concierge. "Welcome back to Hotel Soteria, Ronin. Do let us know if you find yourself in need of any assistance."
The lounge was dim, lit sporadically with shifting colored lights meant to distract and obfuscate. There was no host to tell him which booth he was intended for, but a familiar shine of icy waves flashed through the milling crowd and gave Clint his answer. Taking quick steps forward, he left himself with no time to second guess his actions as he slid into the booth.
"You changed your hair."
He drank in the sight of the woman before him, trying his damnedest not to let the spark of familiarity burn into something more illicit. Where before had been wild white locks in a disheveled undercut, bold makeup and piercings, and a 'fuck you' attitude so common amongst rebellious youth, now stood messy silver-white waves cut sharp, with subtlety and daring balanced out in what combined into an impossibly alluring form.
And yet it was still that avid, easy grin tugging at dark, painted lips that met his words and stole his attention. "Aren't men your age supposed to start a flirtation with 'what's a girl like you doing in a place like this?' If you're not careful, I might start thinking you didn't miss me, Ronin."
Clint couldn't help but snort and roll his eyes at her greeting, "You got rid of the lip ring too."
"Aw, sad that it's gone?"
"Shouldn't you be flirting with people your own age?"
That pulled a sharp laugh from the woman, "Where would be the fun in that?"
Clint sighed; he had forgotten how...whimsical Eris could be. It was a fun trait to be around in the past, but the world had made him weary, jaded. There was no real place for exuberance in a spy's life. He didn't know how to deal with it anymore. "Get to the point, Eris. Why did you bring me here?"
A slow smile spread across her face, and Eris leaned forward, voice a husky whisper, "I've got something I think you'll really want to get a hold of."
Clint had been so wrapped up in not staring at her that he didn't quite grasp what Eris had intended when she told him she had something for him. It wasn't until he felt the heat of her slide onto his lap to straddle him that Clint realized the trouble he was in.
Rough, half-gloved hands cupped his face as Eris leaned down to press an eager kiss to his lips. His mind went blank, arousal and habit taking over to urge his mouth to move against hers. He dragged her closer by her hips, earning him a gasp that let him slip his tongue inside to explore her mouth. Clint smirked into the kiss; it was rare he was able to surprise the chaotic woman.
He buried a hand into her hair, letting him control their movements and deepen the kiss as Eris's touch burned a trail down his chest. His advantage was quickly lost, however, when she dipped a hand into the waistband of both his jeans and underwear, careful to keep away from where he suddenly found himself wanting her touch the most. A ragged moan escaped Clint from the combination of that teasing brush and the harsh bite to his lower lip.
"I'll wait up for you," she whispered, placing another short peck against his swollen lips.
And then the warmth of her body was gone. Clint blinked as he tried to understand what had just happened, but Eris had already disappeared.
"Damn girl's trying to give me a heart attack with her games, I swear," he groaned. "Can't she just leave an old man alone?"
Taking a moment to adjust himself, Clint palmed the flash drive Eris had slipped into his pants, moving it to a more secure location with the sly tricks years spent in the circus had taught him. He tipped back his beer and waited, looking as much like a man who had just been teased as any around him. All he needed to do was keep blending in a little bit more; then, he could escape to his room and see what the job was that awaited him.
Clint locked the door of his hotel room, slumping forward to lean his head against the polished wood with a frustrated groan. Why, of all the people he had teamed up with in his past, did it have to have been Eris that made contact with him again?
He thought back to all the jobs they had pulled off together. The bright, brilliant, chaotic demolitions prodigy who lived up to her alias was a surprising complement to his pinpoint efficiency as a marksman and hired sword. She was an explosion unto herself, and at only age 18, she truly had been a force to be reckoned with. So why she had taken after that first heist to teasing and flirting with a man over ten years her senior, Clint would never understand.
His mind brought up flashes of moments witnessed firsthand of how she liked to play with those who caught her interest like toys, and when she was done she'd leave them behind just as easily as one. It was all a game in her mind. Which made it all the more frustrating for Clint. As much as he hated to admit it, he was drawn to Eris, but he refused to play her games and be another crushed pawn. The age gap didn't help matters either. God, every time he thought about her made him feel like a dirty, old man. It was even worse now that he actually was a dirty, old man.
"A gorgeous woman is waiting for you on your bed, and you choose getting personal with a door instead?" He heard an undignified snort from behind him. "You're a better gentleman than me, Ronin."
Clint sighed. He wasn't surprised by her presence in his room: she hadn't given him a room number to meet him at, after all. He turned and made his way to the encrypted computer that came with every guest room in the hotel, ignoring Eris as she swung her legs back and forth off the side of the single bed. "That's because you are neither gentle nor a man," he remarked tersely, settling into the leather chair. "I don't see why you had to go and grope me to slip me the damn thing if you were just gonna meet me in the room anyway."
"Cuz then I wouldn't have had an excuse to kiss you!" Came Eris's cheerful response."
Yeah, yeah. This USB of yours got extra encryption already on it?"
"It's safe."
"All right, let's see what problems you're dragging me into now." He plugged in the drive and immediately a single folder popped up:
Project Shadrak.
Clint clicked through the folder, and dozens of files appeared on the screen, each one detailing a job right down to grainy, camera-feed clips of the woman in question. "Eris, what the fuck have you gotten yourself into this time?"
Silence hung heavy in the air for a single moment.
"…A week and a half ago, I found a bug in my apartment," she began from behind him, voice quiet. "I sweep the place regularly, so I don't know how long it had been there, but I could've sworn it couldn't have been for long. Then a few days later, an unmarked envelope was left inside my door, lock still secure. It contained that flash drive and details on every job I've ever pulled since joining the Underground."
He spun the chair to face her, eyes hard at the implication of her words. "Why didn't you have someone trace the data? Why not check your security system feeds? What the hell am I supposed to do? I'm a hired gun, Eris, not a hacker. And I'm not even that anymore."
"I tried!" She bit out in frustration. "Once any hacker saw the flash drive's encryption, they refused to help me. Wouldn't even tell me why!"
"And what exactly do you think involving me is going to help with?"
"Don't you get it?!" Clint faltered at the distress in her voice and watched as she gripped at the roots of her hair and tugged on the strands. "They have data on every. single. job. I've done! That means they have this information on you too! You're in danger, Francis!"
Her voice broke on his false name, and Clint felt his ingrained defensiveness crack at the sound. "What about other partners you've had; have you warned them too?"
He had thought by now nothing Eris could do nothing to surprise him anymore. But then, she shifted her gaze from his, looking awkward as she muttered, "I haven't had any other partners on jobs..."
Clint blinked, “What?”
“Look, I-I don’t— I just— Before you agreed to work with me, no one wanted to work with a technical teenager, all right?” Eris crossed her arms. “After the Italy job and the banker, I got a reputation for being difficult to work with. I don’t—” she cut herself off with a petulant huff, still refusing to meet his eyes. “I just don’t really play well with others, okay? It’s usually better for everyone if I’m hired for design work or solo jobs.”
“You worked with me just fine,” he pointed out.
Eris threw her hands up in the air, exasperation weaving its way through her words, “Yeah, and I got known for that too! You were known as the only one who could ‘handle’ me, as one employer put it. Did no one ever bring it up to you?”
“Honestly, I never really thought about it,” Clint admitted. “Usually was too busy thinking about the shit coffee they always gave us.”
“Yeah, well, it was said to me enough times. So there’s no one else to warn, you happy?”
Eris was dangerously close to pouting, and it made it difficult to keep the serious expression on his face that the situation called for. “Fine, I’ll help you find out who’s after you so that both our backs are in the clear. But after that you’re on your own, Eris. I can’t be seen back in this life.”
“Thank you, Ronin,” she breathed. The next instant, Clint found himself in a crushing hug.
“Oof. Er, I can’t help if you break me, all right? Jeez, I forgot how freakishly strong you are.” Clint rubbed his back as Eris stepped away and sighed. “We’ll head out around noon tomorrow to speak to the last hacker you brought the stick to. For now, get the hell out of my room and get some rest, okay?”

FAHC Freewood with protective mercenary Dan please ❤❤❤ Maybe Dan was visiting the fahc and saw that the vagabond holding a knife while Gav looking so terrified at him? (Theyre joking around ofc, just that Ryan was so lovingly pissed off at gavin) Dan misunderstood the situation and almost kill Ryan?
Interesting, I’ve never written Dan before, but I love this idea. I’ll take it and run. Might be a little darker (and longer) than you wanted, but I’m a slut for angry sexual tension fahc freewood dynamics. Hope you enjoy, and thanks for the prompt!
————————— 2044 words
Gavin set his jaw, crossing his arms as Ryan stalked towards him. The alleyway was small and dim, but Gavin figured he could scale the fence behind him if he truly needed to make a getaway.
“You idiot,” Ryan spat, quickly closing the gap between The Golden Boy and himself. His skull face paint accentuated his furious scowl, and the dim light cast haunting shadows across his tall figure.
Gavin lifted his chin as Ryan crowded him, refusing to take a step back. Gavin’s cheek was bleeding, but he hardly felt the sting. His chest was tight, and he took a deep breath before defending himself. “How was it my fault, then?” Gavin held his defiant posture, vary aware of the knife held tight in Ryan’s hand.
Ryan drew himself close to the Brit. He was breathing hard, hand itching to plunge the tip of the blade into Gavin’s puffed chest. “This was a stealth mission. An easy in, easy out. And yet,” Ryan crouched slightly, leveling his eyes with Gavin’s, “Someone managed to let a guard slip away.”
Gavin met Ryan’s icy stare, and his bravado wavered. He had never seen such a look of absolute fury in those gorgeous blue eyes - let alone seen that fury be directed at himself. Gavin could feel the Vagabond’s hot breath across his face, and a sharp pang worked its way into his gut. Ryan’s stare was overwhelming - unwavering, unblinking. His face paint was smeared at the edges; his dark hair a matted halo across his head. He looked legitimately psychotic and, although Gavin hated to admit it, unbelievably sexy. Gavin narrowed his eyes, willing himself to focus. “That guard wasn’t under my zone - If I had taken him down, I would have bloody let three others get out.”
Ryan pulled away from the Brit slightly, staring at him in disbelief. A low growl of agitation rumbled from his painted lips.
A car passed by the alley and its headlights, for but a moment, made Ryan look absolutely feral. Gavin swallowed. His gaze flicked from Ryan’s knife to those intense blue eyes. Ryan wouldn’t actually hurt him, would he?
“Besides,” Gavin started again, rubbing his hands together. His brow knit as he developed his lie. “If I remember correctly, that guard was marked in your sector. But you were too busy doing… What again?” Gavin knew he was playing a dangerous game, and he watched Ryan’s muscles tense. “Oh,” Gavin continued, waving a hand. “You were damn off with Geoff - wrongly, ay? Too focused on your own shitting reputation to remember your agreed place in the job.”
Something in Ryan snapped, and he sprang upon The Golden Boy. He grabbed a fistful of Gavin’s immaculate button-down shirt and dragged him to the brick walls of the alley, pinning Gavin against the wall with a forearm, not really caring if he hurt the smaller man.
Gavin’s head cracked against the brick and he squeezed his eyes shut to block out the sharp pain. He felt Ryan’s ragged breath in his ear.
“How dare you,” Ryan growled, his voice husky. He pressed Gavin harder into the wall. “You’re a fucking coward. Afraid to own up to your wrongdoings; even more afraid to learn from your mistakes.”
Gavin opened his eyes slowly, glaring up at Ryan’s seething visage. His stomach flipped at the sight before him; Ryan was sweating, lips parted in a snarl. His eyes twinkled from beneath between the face paint, but to Gavin’s surprise, they sparkled with something… a little different than pure rage. Gavin swallowed dryly. There was very little space between him and the Vagabond, and Gavin, seeing no other option, decided to use his compromised position to his advantage. He lowered his eyelids and tipped his chin up slightly, locking his gaze with the Vagabond’s. “Are you going to kill me, Ryan?”
Ryan paused at this, grimacing. His eyes bored into Gavin’s green ones and irritation prickled the back of his throat. “I should,” Ryan said, voice cracking slightly. His heart pounded and he couldn’t seem to get enough air. Gavin looked the picture of absolute seduction, and Ryan hated that it had any affect at all on him. Anger and adrenaline still boiled in his veins, and he slid his forearm higher up Gavin’s chest, inching towards the tanned neck. Ryan watched Gavin’s eyes widen, and the Vagabond nearly smiled. So. The cool, calm, collected Golden Boy did have a sense of danger after all.  Ryan felt a warm tightness in his chest and Gavin’s nervous breaths flitted across his face. Ryan settled his forearm against Gavin’s throat, crowding his body closer to the Brit. His voice was low and steely as he spoke. “We were supposed to get through that complex safely… quietly. Turning a stealth mission loud can go horribly south” Ryan squinted at the man under his arm. “You’re lucky no one got killed. I’m astounded at your complete incompetence.”
Gavin gazed down at the Vagabond through his eyelashes, aware of nothing but the arm pressing down on his windpipe. The pair were silent for a bit, only the sound of their breathing echoed through the alley. Gavin knew he fucked up - knew he should have been paying closer attention - but in the end, the crew got out safe, and that’s all that really mattered. Gavin lifted his chin higher, talking over the arm against his neck. His heart thudded. “I dunno, Ryan.” A dangerous glint flickered across his green eyes, and he wiggled his body a little under Ryan’s weight. He locked eyes with the taller man, grabbing Ryan’s oppressing forearm with both hands. “Maybe I like the danger.” He pulled Ryan’s arm harder into his own neck, biting his lip. To Gavin’s delight, a look of absolute shock plastered across the Vagabond’s face.
Ryan yanked his forearm from Gavin’s chest, but Gavin held on tightly, back lifting from the wall as he clung to Ryan’s arm. Ryan growled and dropped Gavin back against the brick. He pressed his body flush against Gavin’s, unsure if he was furious or turned on. “You insolent piece of shit,” Ryan spat, voice wavering more than he liked. “You have no idea what you’re doing.”
Gavin shrugged, mischievously rolling his hips against Ryan’s weight. He raised his eyebrows languidly, eyes raking across Ryan’s face. “Oh, I think I do.”
Ryan’s knifed hand flew upwards, and Gavin winced, flinching as Ryan embedded the tip into a crumbling brick next to his head.
“You like danger, do you?” Ryan leaned in, lips nearly brushing Gavin’s. A drop of sweat rolled down his back, and he savored Gavin’s wide eyed look of terror. Ryan would have almost felt bad, if not for Gavin’s fully blown pupils and parted lips.
“Oi!” A voice rang out, and suddenly, Gavin was no longer pinned to the wall. Gavin reeled at the sudden freedom, looking around wildly. A muted grunt echoed from the ground, and Gavin watched in shock as Dan Gruchy, notorious mercenary and longtime partner of the Fakes, slammed his boot into Ryan’s stomach. Ryan rolled backwards, righting himself to his feet. With admirable speed Dan drew a pistol, leveling it at The Vagabond’s skull.
“All alone in an alleyway, no one around to blame you for the murder of The Golden Boy,” Dan said angrily, positioning himself defensively in front of Gavin. He cocked his gun, glaring at Ryan. “A perfect scheme, I’d say.”
“Look,” Ryan started, cautiously raising his hands as he stared in bewilderment at the mercenary.
“I know we were partners once, before all this crew shit,” Dan spat, gesturing slightly with the pistol, “But that doesn’t mean I won’t put a bullet through your skull, ay?” Dan threw a quick glance at Gavin over his shoulder before rounding on Ryan once more. “You’ve about ten seconds to explain why the eff you’re ‘bout to off Gavin Free.” Dan’s free hand joined the other at the pistol’s handle, and he squinted at the Vagabond.
Ryan frowned, unsure of his words. “I wasn’t… trying to kill him - ” He gestured with his raised hands slowly, measuring Dan’s reactions. “Gavin’s actions nearly cost us a mission… And he didn’t seem to understand the severity - “
“So you plan to run him through with a knife?” Dan gripped the pistol harder, gaze unwavering.
“Dan,” Gavin’s voice called.
Dan kept his attention on Ryan but gritted his teeth. “Yeah, B? You want me to kill this traitor?”
Gavin huffed, crossing around Dan to stand next to Ryan. “He’s telling the truth.” Gavin looked at the dirty ground uncomfortably, wishing he wouldn’t have been so stubborn.
“Yeah?” Dan said incredulously. “What did you do so bad then, that this bloke should pull a knife on you?” He held the pistol level with Ryan’s chest, despite Gavin’s proximity.
Gavin’s gaze flicked from the angry mercenary to the irritated Vagabond, and he sighed. His chest was tight as he spoke: “Let a guard go in a stealth op. He got out, alerted the whole complex. We barely got out with our lives…” Gavin swallowed, surrendering his pride. “He got away on my watch. The whole thing went to shit, and it was my bloody fault.”
Ryan glanced over at Gavin, eyebrows raised. “So you do admit it. Is The Golden Boy really taking responsibility for his actions?” Almost all previous malice had left his voice.
Gavin kicked at the dirt. His heart was heavy. He prided himself on his decent track record of flawless heists, and despised feeling like a monumental letdown.
Dan faltered at Gavin’s statement, lowering the pistol slowly. “Come off it, Gavin. That’s a pretty decent offense.” He looked from Gavin to Ryan and back again, confused. “Hang on, that doesn’t explain why you,” he took several steps toward Ryan, hostility creeping back into his voice, “had Gavin pinned down, threatening him with a knife!”
Ryan raised his eyebrows at Dan, grimacing. He turned his palms up in a half shrug. “Um.” He chuckled uncomfortably. “Emphasis?”
Gavin turned red and quickly intercepted Dan with a tanned hand on the mercenary’s chest. “It - It’s okay, B. Uh,” He threw a panicked look at Ryan and gazed up at Dan, smiling nervously.
Dan frowned, slowly piecing together the situation. He searched Gavin’s face, eyes going wide as everything clicked. Dan’s cheeks flushed and he nodded stiffly, disengaging the pistol’s ammo. “Right.” The mercenary took a few steps back, staring at the uneasy pair before him. “Right,” he said again, hurriedly. “Well I - just know that I’m lookin’ out for you, Gav.” Dan couldn’t figure out where to put his arms. “You better not lay another hand on him,” he gestured towards Ryan, who was now grinning, thoroughly enjoying Dan’s discomfort.
Ryan lowered an eyebrow, his smile wolfish. “In what context?”
Dan backed away and tripped over a stray trash can lid - wishing he was anywhere else. “Just don’t… murder him - and Gavin, don’t get yourself killed from anymore stupid mistakes.” Dan turned on his heel, and walked away quickly, regretting not just minding his own business.
Watching Dan disappear into the street, Ryan rounded on Gavin, arms crossed. “You understand why I’m so upset, correct?”
Gavin nodded, fighting the urge to roll his eyes.
“So you admit you fucked up,” Ryan said, a hint of amusement creeping into his voice. He moved toward Gavin, grinning as the Brit took several steps back. “Gavin Free made a mistake, is that correct?” Ryan knew he was being needlessly antagonistic, but it was too much fun getting a rise out of Gavin.
“Yes, Ryan, Jesus.” Gavin moved further backwards as Ryan approached, a spike of panic rising in his chest when he felt brick wall against his back once more.
Ryan drew himself up against Gavin again, placing his arms on either side of the Brit’s head. His mouth brushed Gavin’s ear, voice low. “You’re sorry?”
Gavin nodded again, heart pounding. He knew Ryan was just messing with him now, but Ryan’s presence was intoxicating. The Vagabond’s hot breath ghosted across his neck, raising goosebumps along Gavin’s arms.
Ryan pressed his body hard into Gavin’s, smirking at the slight gasp from the Brit. He growled low into Gavin’s ear, voice ragged. “Then show me.”

Saarai for love headcanons?
The other twin and my unashamed new favourite, I could talk about her all day tbh! Thank you for asking! :D
From this ask game: [x]
Trigger warning: brief mention of past trauma/assault (I guess, I’m never sure what to tag it as but I think thats the best thing to call it), emotional manipulation and gaslighting in the fourth and third-from-bottom question(s) - regarding past relationships and effect on current ones. Nothing is described in detail but it is mentioned, so if this is triggering or otherwise upsetting to you please skip that part or this ask/answer entirely. I won’t be offended, and because of this I’m gonna toss the text under a read more just as an extra precaution, stay safe! <3
Everything else is pure unadulterated fluff to make up for everything else bad I’ve/they’ve done to her tho :’3
Tumblr media
When they discover they’re got a crush: Fully embraces it and rolls with it, she’s a romantic at heart (and also needs to go to horny jail a fair bit of the time), crushes are a wonderful, exciting thing to her. Daydreams a lot. Will give it a go and test the waters nearly immediately (depending on some factors ofc), but backs off equally as quickly if they seem uncomfortable or otherwise uninterested by her advances.
How they confess/hint: Makes quite the nuisance of herself, always popping up to check on them, wanting to sit near/be around them, chatters about anything and everything she can think of, plenty of flirting including anything from more chaste compliments on things she likes about them, to subtle and/or not-so-subtle innuendo at times, depending on what they’re most receptive to.
Big gestures of love: Cuddles (she can be the clingiest lover known to the galaxy and her octopus arms are inescapable XD) and/or kisses, even if it doesn’t lead to the bedroom, long walks together, picnics in the wilderness, listening to each other and talking things out (whether to do with their relationship or something else that either one is struggling with and needs support for, and this goes both ways), sitting quietly when they don’t feel like talking “just so she knows they’re there”, falling asleep together
Little gestures of love: Flirty banter, inside jokes, pet names, stroking or playing with her hair (she purrs and leans into it like a cat, her partners like to joke that she’s a “Cathar trapped in a Pureblood’s body” because of this), silly “arguments” over whose turn it is to do the chores (though she sulks when she loses and her partner insists on doing said chore(s) instead of letting her do them XD), tucking their head under her chin when they cuddle
How to win their heart: Be honest, respect for boundaries, communication, communication, communication, including calling her out on her shit if she says or does something that upsets/bothers them and be clear about what (so she can fix it and hopefully not repeat whatever it was a second time)
How to break their heart: Lie to her, or try to manipulate her for your own gain. No respect for boundaries she tries to set and trying to push her into something she doesn’t want, or even letting her do that to you because you weren’t brave enough to say something - she wants you to tell her these things, she’ll never be angry if you tell her “no”, no matter what or when, but she will be heartbroken if she finds out she did something that hurt you because she didn’t pick it up and you didn’t tell her it was hurtful.
Tiny little turn-ons: subtle little touches like a hand on her knee under the table, flirty banter again,  sideways glances and holding eye contact for a moment before looking away and pretending it was accidental, tracing patterns across her knuckles or the back of her hand while she holds theirs, dancing closer together than is necessary just to have as much contact between them as possible
Big turn-ons: Husky voices, even if you’re only saying her name, fingertips or kisses brushed along her jaw spurs (if she’ll let you touch them), nips/nibbles between kisses, whispered or purred words against her skin, leaning in for a kiss only to pull away at the last second and make her go to them instead
Things that make their heart flutter: Standing up for yourself, even if it means yelling at her when she’s being stupid (and sometimes especially then), coming to her defence when you think she needs it, seeing someone she cares about genuinely happy and enjoying themselves for whatever reason, excitement when talking/telling her about their favourite thing
Their type: Shorter than her, reserved and soft-spoken but also able to hold their own when it’s necessary. Playful and open to joking around and bantering (without being hurtful about it)
Ideal date: Anything at all. She’s not fussed as long as she’s with someone she loves. It can literally be “sit on the sofa and eat takeout”, as long as they’re together it’s perfect. For something lighthearted and “fun” while still going out, a karaoke bar will always be a hit. ;)
Past relationships:
Ty’s father, Tsâhis: In both verses/renditions, though not her first experience with a man, he was her last physically intimate one, and her first experience with a long-term relationship. Unfortunately it was not a good one. Without going into too much detail about it: he was emotionally manipulative, pushy, gaslit her constantly and  essentially blackmailed her to keep her in the relationship so he could trick as much information as he wanted out of her, he didn’t care about her at all, only about what she could give to him and about the fact he could boast that he had a pretty lady on his arm that would do whatever he asked her to do. It ended very badly when she finally realized that wasn’t what real love was and tried to leave him and he tried to kill her so she couldn’t leave and . She fought back and survived (obviously), but it’s left her with a lot of emotional (and physical - most of the scars on her body and the main one on her lip come from that struggle) scarring.
Xerid Ferral: exclusive to the Zephyrverse AU, as they wouldn’t cross paths in Subterfugeverse. Xerid was the alternate Wrath for that verse/timeline and Saarai’s only other long-term relationship (other than Tsâhis) before Sash. While it wasn’t toxic like Tsâhis was, it was certainly unhealthy due to being fairly one-sided. Saarai loved Xerid but, although she was loyal to Saarai because of her family name and her connection to D’leah, the feelings were not reciprocated and Xerid viewed the relationship very much as “I’m protecting you because I swore an oath to do that but the sex is just a bonus and there aren’t any emotional feelings attached”. Xerid later dies to protect Saarai and Vano during a fight so that ends the relationship and after grieving for a while she starts getting closer to Sash and eventually ends up with her, although if Xerid had lived they would have again gone their separate ways (though more amicably) once Saarai and Sash met, because Sash is able to give Rai the kind of relationship she wants and Xerid wouldn’t have held that against her either.
Various other one-night stands, all women, and none particularly worth mentioning. She never trusted any of the others enough to stick with them longer than needed to scratch an itch.
How they might affect current relationships: Tsâhis in particular has had quite an effect on her relationships, because of the things that happened on that night, she just can’t be intimate with men, it’s not something she’s comfortable ever doing again after that. In fact it takes her a long time to trust men as anything other than an acquaintance, much less romantically; Koth becomes an exception to this as thanks to his easygoing and empathetic nature and the fact that he never pushes her into anything she doesn’t agree to, she does end up trusting him and developing quite a deep emotional bond with him. It took her a long time (and in fact the party in the cantina at the end of KOTFE is the first time she really starts to properly relax around him and the first time she’s comfortable doing typical “couple-y” things with him like holding hands or cuddling up with him)  and although they’re never physical in that way, in some ways she’s a lot closer to Koth than she is to Lana because he’s just easier to talk to about those sorts of things.
It affected her relationship with Sash in the Zephyrverse AU too, though not quite as extensively because Sash is a woman, but there were a lot of times early on in their relationship where Saarai overreacted to simple little gestures or touches because of a flashback and they both had to learn to adapt to that; Sash had to learn what was and wasn’t okay, Rai had to learn to trust Sash and realise that she wasn’t trying to hurt her. They do eventually get through it together, but it was a big challenge for them in the beginning <3
‘Goals’ in a relationship (marriage, kids, a house, etc): Marriage is a nice end goal, but what’s most important to Saarai is a healthy relationship built on mutual trust (both when together & apart, she’ll worry and she understands they will worry about her too, but there shouldn’t be unhealthy levels of suspicion or distrust) and regular communication.
Any other love headcanons: Always says “I love you” to her partner(s) before they a) separate for different missions or b) go into battle, just in case she or they don’t come back and it’s the last thing they ever remember her saying to them.

Director AU
In which (Y/N) is an aspiring director/producer whose mother and father are a director and producer respectively. And did we mention that they own what’s possibly the biggest production company on the planet?
General Headcanons:
you’ve got a squad of your own, and the ages are practically identical with the guys’ ages. except for the part where you’re born in 2000 and not 2001, unlike Erick. and your squad has twins, they don’t.
each member of your group has like this persona that everyone associates with said member.
the oldest of your group is Elodie Bauer, who isn’t really the most mature person, but damn if she can’t throw a party. it’s kind of why everyone calls her the Party Animal.
then there are the twins, Kiana and Kiara Mirren, whose parents just so happen to own the biggest talent agency in the Western hemisphere. between the two of them, Kiara is much more quiet and demure, though she has a reputation for being unpredictable, hence her reputation as the Wildcard. unlike her twin, Kiana is a creature of habit, and one of them includes being the mom friend. for a while, you all considered referring her to as such, but it didn't quite sit right. Sweetheart, on the other hand, did.
the second youngest is Alexandria Roxas, a half-Filipino whose family belongs to a successful line of celebrity entrepreneurs. with her flair for the dramatics, everyone took to calling her Drama Queen, something she takes as a compliment despite the obvious negative connotations.
finally, there’s you, (Y/N) (L/N), and your parents own a production company known for hugely successful films, be they foreign or not. as you aspire to be a producer and director, you picked up quite a few tricks, especially in editing, but this isn’t where your greatest asset lies. despite being the youngest of your group, your professionalism and maturity are second to no one in your age range, earning you the title of Girlboss.
How You Met:
you first met the guys on the set of Reggaeton Lento Remix, when Jade came over to meet them while they (CNCO) shot their parts of the music video.
honestly you were just there to grab the footage so you could start editing
but then they weren’t done yet so you just went to a corner and started editing the footage you did have
like after you introduced yourself to them, the director told you that they weren’t done filming so you just went  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ before plopping down in a corner
the guys were kinda weirded out/intimidated bc you sounded hella professional even if you looked like you were Erick’s age
but it lowkey didn’t stop Chris and Erick from tossing a few flirty comments your way
and then when they were done you introduced yourself again but in a nicer and chiller way
Before: “(Y/N) (L/N), I’ll be editing the video and splicing the footage together.”
After: “Hi, I’m (Y/N), and I’m really excited to work with you guys!”
the difference was staggering
plus you wound up as a translator of sorts that day because GOOD LORD JADE’S ACCENT IS DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND EVEN IF YOUR FIRST LANGUAGE IS ENGLISH
not that you minded, you had a Spanish test the next day and it really brushed up your skills so yaaaaaayyyy
still, they were all kinda shookt af when they found out you were just a year older than Erick
Jade: Yeah, she’s a lot more machuad (y’all know this is how she pronounces matured lmao) than most kids her age.
Relationships With Them:
Christopher Velez:
ooh boi
first time you met, you literally didn’t believe he was the oldest
Chris thought you were vvvvvv cute, let’s just get that out of the way
and he flirted with you a lil bit
but you didn't notice bc you were editing
BUT you did give him a random compliment
like you looked up and he was fixing his hair
and then you said "Su pelo se ve bien" in accented asf Spanish and he was shookt
but he appreciated the compliment
and then you went back to editing before he could strike up a conversation whoops
but then y'all went to dinner and ofc you tagged along, and even if his English wasn't as good as Joel's or Richard's, he understood enough to know when you exposed someone
and he's like "damn mami is savage"
tl;dr: You're oblivious to his flirting but he's a fan of how savage you can get.
much later, you two become close bc you wind up laughing at Erick's jokes at the exact same time
Richard Camacho:
like with Chris, you didn't notice him much bc you were editing
but you managed to hold a minute-long conversation with him bc they were on break and you didn't know where the bathroom was
plus he was the first one you saw (and ngl, you were more comfortable speaking to him bc you’re both short)
so you shuffled up to him and was like “Um, sorry to bother you but... Where’s the bathroom?”
RICHUKI WAS SHOOK
the difference was, as said before, pretty shocking
total 180 degree turn from mature and professional to awkward and smol
he gave you directions ofc and internally you were like phew he speaks English bc it’d be awkward af on your part if you had to repeat it in Spanish
so during dinner you wound up sitting across him
and you have this habit of swinging your legs a little when bored, so you might’ve accidentally kicked him a bit
when you noticed that, you apologized a lot. like you even offered some of your dessert bc you didn’t want him to be offended
I feel like he wouldn’t take it personally tbh
later on, when y’all get to know each other a bit more, he kind of becomes your main bro figure. not brother figure, because that’s Zabdiel, but bro figure.
and sometimes, if you’re in the same area, you end up babysitting Aaliyah
you’re a good bro, he’s a good bro
why else would you constantly call each other out on your bullshit
Zabdiel de Jesus
deadass the first time you saw him you were like oh shit
not that anyone can blame you, he’s tall asf and you’re tiny
for a good while you didn’t really talk to him
until Jade roped you into a conversation she was having with him, Joel, and Erick
internally you just sigh. socializing. niceee.
note the sarcasm
ANYWAY, when Joel gets a call, he leaves right? so Zabdiel and Erick are stuck there and from the looks on their faces you can kinda tell they don’t understand what Jade’s saying
so you scoot a little closer to them and hope your Spanish isn’t as bad as you thought it was bc you explained what she was saying
(Y/N) (L/N): video editor, aspiring director, now part-time interpreter
not that you were complaining ofc, it’s like studying for a test!
anyway after that you kinda stuck with them for a bit if only to help them understand what Jade was saying
you might have bumped into Zabdiel a couple of times
and that’s when you learned he’s actually a bit of a gentle giant
so yaaaayyyy
tbh you thought he was the oldest; he seemed the most mature of them
he’s definitely the first one outside of your own squad that you contact when you need help
he’s brotherly like that
gives great advice to you
and you lend a listening ear when he needs to let off some steam so it’s a symbiotic relationship you two have
Joel Pimentel:
honestly, your relationship with him can be described with one phrase: sass-offs.
but it wasn’t like that in the beginning
you and Joelito were pretty shy towards one another
UNTIL he saw you going through puppy pictures while you waited for the footage to render
and then you two talked/fawned over puppies in your corner
damn he spent most of his break there
so when Jade roped you into the conversation you didn’t really feel too awkward
but when Joel left the awkwardness came back
it was a pleasant surprise for you and him that you managed to get comfortable with Erick and Zabdiel, even if you were on translator duty that time
bear in mind that at this point both of you thought the other was a little cinnamon roll
but when dinner rolled around, he had to reevaluate his opinion of you because goddamn you didn’t hold back
every time you were about to spill the tea or roast someone, you would calmly sip your iced tea before speaking
sometimes the tea wasn’t the shocking bit, it was the way you said it
something in his mind just clicked and went oh when you first did that
needless to say, he showed a bit of sass too and you were living for it
SASS BUDDIES
it’s terrifying when both of you are on Twitter at the same time
think Joel’s sass but doubled and more subtle
that’s you
it’s gotten to the point that the rest of the guys try to keep you and Joel from being on Twitter at the same time
but nah, they can’t keep you two apart for long. platonically ofc
Erick Brian Colon:
you’re both the babies of your respective groups and that’s something you’re quick to tell him
so you two kinda bond over that, but not too much just yet
one of the first things you tell him is “Nice bowling skills” as a reference to the music video for Reggaeton Lento
yes bitch, you watched all their previous music videos to get a feel of sorts for the aesthetic they match for their music
while you’re lowkey gloating at how there’s finally someone on set who’s younger than you, Erick might’ve already been developing a tiny crush. on you.
but you’re a.) oblivious and b.) busy editing the video so you don’t notice
poor Erick
needless to say, he tosses flirty comments your way more than anyone else
but it doesn’t quite catch your attention.
what does, however, are his jokes.
yep. you don’t know enough Spanish to get a perfect score on your tests (yet) but you know enough to understand his shitty jokes.
Erick probably had heart eyes when you laughed at his joke
and that, ladies and gents, is where your friendship with Christopher Velez and Erick Brian Colon began
even if Erick still had a crush on you.
After y’all finish eating dinner, you grab the footage and fly back to LA because you had classes the next day. Friday of that week is when you contact Clara to set up a meeting because you’ll be done editing it Monday next week.
It’s a vid conference with CNCO and Little Mix where you send the video to them and let them watch it while you wait for their opinions. They all love it, of course, but the girls have worked with you before and know what you did.
Perrie: How much sleep did you get?
You, mildly sweating: Uh, eight hours.
You: In the past three days.
And that’s how Little Mix exposed your nonexistent sleeping habits in front of the guys.
