I need help finding a fic pls. Stiles meets Derek young (around 4ish) and they're soulmates (Derek knew when Claudia was still pregnant). There is def an age gap. Stiles grows up knowing Derek is his mate, and tries to mate with him, but because they spent so much time together while he was young, stiles's wolf develops quicker than it should and goes into heat, so they try to separate them. Hello! I've been trying to comb my way through your blog and searching google but I haven't been able to find the fic I've been looking for so I hope you can help me (and I hope I'm not missing the post and making a duplicate)

The story is a sterek fic where Derek goes to stiles for help because hes developing a sexual problem and only trusts stiles to look up the answer. Stiles find out it's likely a mate thing and suggests derek figures out who hes been spending a lot of time with. Derek checks out and crosses off each of the pack before settling on Scott (because of his scent, thinking its what's triggering the response), turns out its stiles and that stiles has a very active libido and that's what's causing Derek's problem.

I swear I had it saved but I can't find it in any of my bookmarks. So, any help you can provide at finding the fic would be super helpful! Thank you!

On behalf of the FBI he goes to some werewolf or Supernatural Council event with his unit. It's a complete surprise the Beacon Hill pack is there, they're all cold shouldering each other. Everyone has grown into their own, and the pack is beyond thriving. Derek is some high muckity muck.

And Peter is bad and intends on killing derek and stiles realises this and tells him and Derek ends up killing him. I think it would be classified as enemies to lovers? I'm trying to find a fic and I'm hoping you can help- I've read it before but can't for the life of me find it on Ao3, and it's killing me! It's one where Stiles is magical, Scott pretty much goes insane- and there is a super amazing scene towards the end where Stiles winds up magically taking Scott's wolf away and giving it to Melissa, who lovingly embraces it. Hi! I’m not sure if you can help me find a lost fic. But I thought I’d give it a shot and ask. I read this Sterek fic within the last couple of months and i remember very little unfortunately. Basically I remember that stiles was allowed to sleep in dereks bed and Derek was acting like that was no big deal, but everyone else in the pack thought it was a massive deal because wolves and scent and stuff and I remember one of the women in the pack was pregnant but no idea who. When Sana realized who Saki was, she knew she had a problem. Not just because of who Saki was or who her parents were. She knew she had a conflict of interest. There wasn’t technically any rule limiting teachers from teaching their own children, but it was still frowned upon and Sana knew she would make sure Nico was never put in her class. Though in most ways Saki was not her own child. But in a different way, she was Sana’s biological child and there was a good chance she would have a conflict of interest. She could convince herself that she wouldn’t give Saki favoritism. She just knew herself well enough to know she couldn’t be completely unbiased as hard as she tried. And she thought that wouldn’t be fair to the other kids.

So she faced a dilemma. It wasn’t like she could go up to her boss and just tell him Saki was her biological child she hasn’t seen since she gave her up for adoption. Even if he did approve it they still had to call Mina and Nayeon and explain the situation to them, which meant Sana would have to talk to them through the administrators, which could be a pain. If she had to talk to Mina and Nayeon, she would rather not have the administrators involved, at least in their first conversation in six years. Sana had been too nervous to talk to them over the phone, instead sending them an email. She had received a message from Nayeon back, but she knew it was from her secretary. She handled most of Nayeon’s emails for her, and Sana knew how Nayeon typed. Her secretary had confirmed a time, the whole process feeling very impersonal. The meeting had been arranged for the next day after school, giving Sana some time to think about what she was going to say to Mina and Nayeon. She thought about it a lot, no matter how much she tried to busy herself with her newborn daughter her brain kept drifting back to Mina and Nayeon. Sana didn’t sleep much, she spent the whole night holding Nico’s tiny hand while she slept. She cared for Nico when her little one needed her, but when she was asleep Sana just went through different scenarios in her head. She thought about what to say, how she would say it. She wondered if she should try to stay strictly professional, or if she should talk to them. She didn’t know. Plus she still hadn’t fully processed the fact Saki was back in her life.

She liked the name Saki. It was adorable. It meant blossom, and Sana had always thought highly of the name. She wondered what Saki’s sisters' names were. She had heard her mention her sisters, and she remembered overhearing the other teachers talking about how crazy it was they had quadruplets at their school and how rare they were. According to the other teachers, two of them were even in the same class, and the other was in a different class. Sana wondered who was the older, who was the youngest. Who was each of the nicknames she had given them when she was pregnant with them. She still remembers all of the little nicknames she had for each of them. Before Sana knew it, it was morning. Momo teased her for being an overbearing mother while Sana sipped her second cup of coffee before work. Momo took Nico to daycare while Sana went to work, and the whole drive to work Sana nerves built. She knew she still had a whole work day before she had to talk to Mina and Nayeon, but that didn’t make her any less nervous. She was incredibly nervous already.

Throughout the day, the nerves built. Sure a class of 20 six and seven year olds was more than distracting, but anytime Sana had a moment to think the nerves came back and hit her harder. Her hands were practically shaking as she waved all the kids bye for the day. While waiting for Mina and Nayeon, she tidied up her classroom a bit. She had to do that everyday, but today felt particularly important. Mina and Nayeon were just as time. Sana knew that was something Mina was always really serious about, and it was cute to her to think Mina still felt it was serious even with all the chaos of having four kids.

It felt a bit weird for all of them to be in the same room again. Sana was sitting at her desk while Mina and Nayeon were both sitting at the two kids desks right in front of it.

“Cute kid.” It was then that Sana noticed Nayeon was staring at the framed photo she had of Nico on her desk. Momo had a friend who was a photographer who had offered to photograph Nico for free as a practice to start working with kids, so Sana actually had quite a few good pictures of her littlest baby.

“O-Oh thank you.” Sana felt the urge to turn the photo away so they couldn’t see it. She didn’t know why, but she suspected it was because she wasn’t sure if Mina and Nayeon knew about Nico or not. “U-um she’s mine.” “I know. Saki talks about it at home…” None of them had been able to make eye contact. Things just felt so awkward between them all. “So you got married?” “Um yeah…” Sana cursed herself for lying. “I don’t wear my ring while I’m working, it can get a bit hard with so many young kids running around.” Sana didn’t know why she was trying so hard to lie.

“So who is it-”

“We came here to talk about Saki Nayeon.” Mina interrupted. “So let’s talk about Saki, yeah?” “You’re right. Sorry.” Nayeon took Mina’s hand. Sana bit her lip purposefully, she remembered how warm Mina’s hands were, and she cursed herself for missing it. “So, what is it?” “Well, this isn’t technically a school policy, but we generally try to avoid putting kids in classes where they are related to the teacher because well, there’s a conflict of interest and well we wouldn’t want any kind of favoritism here, so I was going to ask if you think there is a conflict of interest. You can easily request Saki to move teachers, I will sign off on it-”

“Why would she change teachers?” Nayeon leaned back in the too small chair. “She loves you.” “Okay, I’ll be a bit more direct. Do you really want me to be this close to her? I thought I wasn’t supposed to see any of them.” Sana asked. “I mean- it’s not ideal.” Nayeon sighed. “But I meant it, she loves you. I always knew you would be a great teacher someday.” “What my wife is trying to say is that we don’t think our daughter would forgive us if we pulled her out of your class. You are her favorite teacher, and I think she would be really upset if we pulled her out without telling her why. The situation wasn’t something any of us ever saw happening, but it would be more harmful for her to get pulled out of her class.” Mina explained. “Just, don’t get too close.” “Don’t worry. She is just another one of my students.” Sana nodded. “We all have our own lives now, this is just a temporary thing. I will treat Saki the same as my other students, of whom I all treat the best I can.” Mina and Nayeon both nodded at that.

When they left, Sana’s hands were shaking. She couldn’t believe she had just seen them both again. And that she had been able to stay so composed. What she didn’t know was that Mina and Nayeon felt the exact same.

for context: this was my first week at a brand new boarding school filled with rich kids while i, myself, am Not A Rich Kid. i was already pretty intimidated because everyone was so smart and felt so much higher above me and it was even worse because i joined in year 12 and some people had been there for years (my school goes from year 7 - year 13)

- was sitting in the gaming room of a boys' boarding house that my boarding house had to go to for a bbq; stood up bc there were like 5 other girls on the same couch as me; accidentally pulled up my skirt with my handbag and flashed three boys I BARELY KNEW

- pressed reply all to an email sent to the whole year group and got a text from my friend saying "uhh alizeh you mightve just sent an email to the year group", my roommate walking in and saying "oh i just got an email from you lol", and an email back from a student saying "next time, try not to press reply all" and apologised to to them profusely (it has been seven months and people STILL hear my name and are like 'ohh youre that girl who pressed reply all'

- walked straight through the lunch hall. when. the line was at the side. f in the chat

- TREMBLING with nerves in my first ever french class filled with students who were amazing at french and, instead of saying 'je suis intern' (i am a boarder) i said 'je suis internat' (i am. a boarding school) and the boys in my class laughed at me and basically i didnt speak in that lesson until two months later

- my roommate caught me crying over an alyanette edit because i missed my best friend (she gave me a hug and was very sympathetic to someone with tears down her face bc of two cartoon characters)

- started yelling to my friend about ladybug the morning after it aired. in front of another girl. who literally told me just before i started yelling that she hadnt watched it and for me to not spoil. but i misunderstood and thought she said. she just didnt watch miraculous. i spoiled the whole episode for her over breakfast (WE'RE LIKE REALLY GOOD FRIENDS NOW SO IT'S OKAY)

- overheard a guy in my history class talking to his friend about wanting to move to a french class; heard my french teacher's name; thought it would be a great way to make a new friend by saying "oh yeah monsieur x is really good!" the guy turned around and snappily said to me "yeah i would know he's been my house master for three years"

- choked on my cereal at breakfast. i sent coco pops flying everywhere

It’s been 15 years since that idiotic intern at the school counseling center suggested him to... what did he say? “Channel his anger in something productive”. And then tried to talk Meng Shi into purchasing a fucking computer to let him “get off some steam” by killing fictional people instead of smashing actual valuable objects like, say, the principal’s Mercedes with a stolen golf club, or, the nurse’s desk with a fire extinguisher back in middle school.

Good thing Su She had disappeared under mysterious circumstances after Xue Yang had surreptitiously let the intern’s uni professor know in a detailed email how the aspiring counselor had suggested him (a sweet innocent 15 year old) to use his new computer to watch porn instead of focusing on his studies. Song Lan was much better than him, and bitchier too, which was fine by Xue Yang anyway. Not that he cared.

What good had that stupid glorified television brought him in the end? Most of the computers at school had become intimately familiar with many a malware and virus already with how frequently he used to browse through the deep web. The ones at the local library had let him in on the secrets of 4ch*n since the tender age of 8. Hell, even his pediatrician had made the glorious mistake to leave him alone in her office one merry day of winter when he discovered the wonders of x-rated videos.

But Meng Shi had tried to cheer him up anyway, buying him that stupid thing. Working her ass off at the bar trying to make social services forget she used to be a stripper back in the days. All to provide a place for children in foster care to feel safe, the stupid hag. Xue Yang wasn’t fucking stupid, he knew she was collecting money for every kid ever stepping inside her ratty flat. He knew that she would have never adopted anyone for real because she already had a son and she was working to send him to university anyway.

Yet, she had come home one day with a big smile on her youngish and bland face, hoisting up the heavy computer in a box, and told Xue Yang to share it with his siblings. Yeah, fuck that. That little bitch A-Qing was even worse than him, and she probably used to sell feet-pictures recycled from the internet to disgusting men online. To this day Xue Yang is none the wiser and he doesn’t need to know what that fucking witch had been up to at 14. XuanYu would have used the computer to stream and torrent shit nonstop to sell at school even if he was only, like, 12. Qin Su was 15 like him and she would have been tempted to set up a fucking YT channel and subject him and XuanYu to whatever scientific experiment she would have come up with. And Meng Yao had too much embarrassing blackmail material on Xue Yang already, he didn’t need to have access on his erased search history after digging gods-knows for how long.

Ahah no. No thanks.

But detention got him occupied for so long by cutting library books pages down to papermen without getting bored out of his mind. And he did have his fun that one time when he caught a pervert with a hand down his pants when they chatted on Om*gle after Xue Yang had catfished him good by pretending to be a girl. Got everything on tape and published the whole interaction on the school website for everyone to see. Which had been appropriate at the time, given that the man had been part of the board of directors. Fittingly hilarious too.

Still, boredom loomed over him like a quilt of sadness on summer break and he had been tempted to log in and play games in the end. Nobody wanted him in their stupid ass teams anyway, with him having higher kill counts than them and all, not following tactics and so on. Whatever.

Until one day user shuan_ghua naively trusted Xue Yang when the other assured him that “teabagging“ was just a fancy slang for ordering a cup of jasmine tea. The 17 year old boy named Xiao XingChen had thanked him for teaching something new to him and then proceeded to ask him to join his one-man-party out of fucking nowhere.

Everything changed after that.

XXC family!:

XXC is 17 at the beginning of the story and he used to live with his mother Baoshan [i know that “Sanren” and “Daoren” are titles, but in absence of a real surname I will use them as such for this prompt. feel free to change that if you take inspiration from this post to write your take on the story] and the rest of their family on a mountain before they moved back to the city in Gusu.

XXC’s mother was barely 20 when she got married the first time and her first son Daoren YanLing was born. two years later her husband died and she travelled a lot afterwards, adopting 4yo CanSe when she was 25. then she married again at 41, had XXC at 44, and then divorced at 48.

CanSe eloped with ChangZe when she was 18 and got WWX at 20, the same year her own mother got married again (at 41).

BaoShan got XXC three years later (at 44).

hence, WWX is 3 whole ass years older than XXC despite being his nephew. both boys find the thing absolutely hilarious.

YanLing and CanSe are only 1 year apart and they still bicker nonstop. both of them went to school with Lan QiRen and his older brother and frequently got in fights back in the days at Gusu.

(if YanLing had a thing for Lan QiRen, well, nobody has to know)

XXC, being the baby of his family, is doted on by YanLing and brought to mischief by CanSe until XXC’s father divorces their mother and they move on the mountain along with ChangZe and 7yo WWX.

up on the mountain BaoShan works as a tour guide and she takes baby XXC and WWX on hikes along with tourists to admire the beauty of the scenery.

XXC’s sight starts deteriorating when he is 12 and WWX is 15. they have been homeschooled until then, so when it gets clear XXC will not improve much so far away from proper healthcare, the whole family moves back to the city in Gusu.

XXC is not comfortable leaving his new home, not with all those new noises and flashing lights. WWX is drawn to them instead, more than happy to enroll in school, where he meets JC and he realizes the boy is the son of CanSe’s middle school boyfriend. WWX declares them to be almost-brothers and is perfectly fine with adopting even JC’s older sister in the family and CanSe can only laugh at that. JC and YanLi visit XXC often as a result and they help him make sense of the new environment without stressing him too much.

YanLing finds a job as a cook in WWX’s school and he is back to making Lan QiRen’s life impossible after learning the man is a teacher there.

LWJ and LXC’s mother is a music teacher there as well and YanLing bonds with her to make Lan QiRen life’s an absolute nightmare.

LWJ and LXC make friends with the mountain gremlins and they are initially horrified by their manners: XXC would pick food from the ground and eat it, it doesn’t have to be his for that to happen to begin with; WWX doesn’t realize he should cut his nails (both for his feet and hands) until he is forced to wear shoes outside and not climb up trees, for he assumed nails simply never grew bc he used them constantly, wearing them down; etc.

LWJ hates himself for falling for WWX but he cannot care less.

LXC notices how lonely XXC feels when wangxian becomes a thing, so he buys him a computer to better gather more information about the world and adjust the settings to maximum accessibility whenever XXC wants to read something.

by the age of 17 XXC is mostly left alone in the house: WWX goes to uni; his mother BaoShan works at a local museum; his brother YanLing is trying to not get fired at his job; and his sister CanSe has started to travel with her husband selling the delicate dizi flutes ChangZe makes as an artisan.

XXC is also on the waiting list for an important eye surgery and he figures he has a couple of years to go before he will either lose his sight or be granted a second chance at life altogether.

XY’s family!:

Meng Shi had Meng Yao at 19 and started stripping the following year in Yunmeng.

her friend SiSi helped her both financially and emotionally, spending time with A-Yao while she worked at night. after four years she can move out of her flat and finds a job as a bartender downtown. she would have kept her old job, if SiSi hadn’t convinced her to think of A-Yao first, who was painfully shy and didn’t know how to socialize with other kids his age.

at 24 she starts the paperwork to become a foster parent and has to child-proof her entire apartment before the first kid arrives. at 25 she welcomes Qin Su, who is only 5, and initially A-Yao doesn’t want to share his mother with anyone. the situation gets bad to the point social services have to take Qin Su away one year later, because she tried to set A-Yao’s hair on fire in retaliation once, but two years later Meng Shi gets her back.

A-Yao, now 9 years old, has thought about it and reasoned that having a sister wasn’t so bad after all. Qin Su is only one year younger than him and she will not take up much space, right? wrong. but they bond over their shared nerdiness and while A-Su likes to blow things up, A-Yao helps his mother with taxes every year.

at 29 Meng Shi takes in XuanYu, who is not an orphan like A-Su, and still misses his birth mother fiercely. she had to give him up for adoption when he was 3, because she had been only 15 when XuanYu was born and her family threatened to disown her.

being profoundly deaf on top of that, no foster home wanted to have him and he was kept in the system for three years after his mother had to let him go. the woman had tried to be present for him while he waited for a family to pick him, teaching him sign language and reading lips, but she had been forced to eventually let go.

XuanYu arrives at Meng Shi’s when he’s 6. A-Yao (10yo) and A-Su (9yo) try their best to involve their new brother, but they don’t know how to communicate with him. SiSi takes the children to sign language classes at the community center after school and XuanYu warms up to them. he teaches Meng Shi what they learned the previous day every morning, before going to school. teachers don’t really pay attention to him, but he manages by reading lips when people face him properly, which is a rare occurrence, but he tries his best.

when A-Yao and A-Su realizes A-Yu is being bullied, they start to get nasty, setting backpacks on fire and terrorizing the other children at school. even when they move to middle school one after the other nobody picks on A-Yu, fearing what his siblings could do.

XY arrives at Meng Shi’s when she is 32 (A-Yu is 9, A-Su is 12, A-Yao is 13) and XY is 12. A-Su initially gets jealous bc they are the same age, but XY doesn’t talk to anyone for a year and ignores her attempts to rile him up. Meng Shi had been warned about him: his father had killed his mother and then failed to kill himself afterwards... and XY still believed the man was out there, looking for him to finish the job. XY had lived on the street for years before social services could find him, but he had felt trapped like a dog, not wanting to be touched, frequently running away.

XY doesn’t remember much of his life before entering foster care. he only knows everything is a bother, that his nightmares give him constant migraines, and that he doesn’t care how he lost one of his fingers. but anyone who makes fun of him for that gets kicked, that’s for sure.

it’s only when A-Qing (12) comes one year after XY’s arrival that things get a bit better... so to speak.

she is even less well behaved than him, thrashing around at night, screaming at the top of her lungs, saying that she doesn’t want to be there. that she’s better than the rest of them combined.

her anger issues trigger something in XY and the two of them get into fights with each other constantly.

A-Yao (14) and A-Su (13), reminiscing of the 2 years they spent apart because they couldn’t stop hitting each other up, take the issue seriously and convince Meng Shi to ask for help. SiSi is the one taking A-Qing and XY to therapy two times a week and they are followed through by professionals who know how to tackle their issues, an elderly woman who goes by the name of Lan Yi (LWJ and LXC’s paternal grandma) and her assistant Wen Qing, an intern working there for uni credits.

one year later XY is 14 and A-Qing is 13 and they... don’t really love each other, but at least they can talk to one another without trying to kill anyone in the process. they spend a lot of time with A-Yu (11) and learn sign language to keep him entertained.

by the age of 35, Meng Shi has 5 kids and can barely afford food for herself but she is happy like never before. A-Yao (16) is already considered smart enough to attend advanced math classes in high school. A-Su (15) has won a science competition sponsored by city hall. A-Yang (15) is trying to work on his anger issues with video games, making friends online. A-Qing (14) doesn’t let anyone make fun of her for her dyslexia, asking adults and classmates to take her issue seriously for once. And A-Yu (12) wants to learn how to sign in different languages to maybe travel the world one day.

Meng Shi is very happy indeed.

now, the plot: (tw fake suicide mention; tw use of homophobic slurs)

XY (15) and XXC (17) meet online every night before bed, playing video games together. XY made a mistake first time they chatted, saying he was 17 instead of 15 bc he didn’t want the other to look down on him.

XXC trusts him a little too much and doesn’t question if his new friend is lying to him or not. he’s the funnies person he has ever met, after all.

WWX (20) notices something is wrong by the way XXC starts speaking around others, using inappropriate language when he has never been anything but polite and gentle. even if, technically, XXC is WWX’s uncle, the latter sees the other more like a cousin than anything else given that he’s older. so he takes the matter in his own hands and one day asks him to let him play games with him.

XY doesn’t like his only friend not telling him someone else would have joined their party, and initially he covers XXC in insults and threatens to leave. but then WWX is really good at killing fictional people and XY reconsiders. he makes fun of WWX for being the older one AND the other’s nephew at the same time, but aside from that he doesn’t try to run away like a caged animal anymore.

WWX trust XXC when the younger says XY is 17 like him, but he still supervisions most of their sessions just to be sure XY cannot teach too many horrible things to XXC. WWX wants XXC to make more friends and maybe one day leave the house to attend university if the other will feel inclined to do so, but he doesn’t pressure him.

in the meantime, XY changes counselor at school and it is Song Lan (23) who tries to make a better human out of him. SL is deaf and occasionally uses cochlear implants to hear, but only because his family made the choice for him to have surgery when he was only a child. he can speak if he feels like it at times (not frequently, he’s very adamant about reminding others he doesn’t owe them anything. he’s also trying to make a change at the school where he works by organizing classes on Deaf culture and sign language for the students to take as an elective)

XY already knew of SL thanks to XuanYu, bc A-Yu had seen the counselor at the community center where SiSi usually takes the kids to for sign language classes. counseling at school doesn’t really happen one-on-one, detention kids being too many to follow one at a time and all, but when SL comes by to chat with them he’s always funny as fuck and XY (who will never admit it) feels good about being the only one in class able to understand SL only through sign language.

SL forces himself to talk to the kids and read their lips only bc... well, they’re young and did nothing wrong to him. he occasionally asks XY to help him translate, but aside from that there are really too many kids to look after and he doesn’t treat XY differently from the others, nor he notices him much.

two years pass and XXC (19) announces to XY (17) that wangxian (22) is having their wedding. since XY has learned all about their family, he asks XXC if it’s a common thing to get married super young in their household and XXC laughs... but it’s a sad and brittle thing and XY gets a bit worried.

XXC reveals then that soon after the wedding he will have a surgery to (hopefully) fix his sight and he’s very anxious. he timidly asks XY if he wants to go to the wedding with him, because he would like to see his face at least once before the surgery.

XY panics: he knew XXC’s eyesight was bad, but he never knew to what extent exactly; he’s not really of age yet, so he cannot move on the other side of the country just to attend a wedding; he has never talked specifically about XXC with his family and Meng Shi is working a lot and A-Yu should get his hearing aids soon and A-Qing needs help for her finals and... and...

...and he’s not ready to meet XXC.

XY lied to him and told him they’re the same age. he had never told XXC his name, even if the other had revealed his own, always going by his username jiang_zai. he called him and chatted with him and made fun of his own family and the other had been nothing but kind and amazing and... and... and XY realizes he’s been in love for a while and he abhors the idea to the point where he openly laughs at XXC and calls him a sap.

XXC notices the change in his tone immediately and wonders if he’s overstepped, if he’s asked too much by inviting the other over to celebrate with the rest of the family. XXC apologizes to XY and begs him to not step away like he usually does when he feels cornered.

XY feels absolutely cornered and attacks XXC by asking him why he’s so keen on asking him out (“are you a f*g or something?” etc.). the other doesn’t even know what that means but hearing XY so scared hurts, bc he doesn’t want to make the other uncomfortable in any way.

XXC does like XY romantically, but would never dream to say anything and hinder their friendship. yet, it hurts more to hear his only friend so afraid and angry. he apologizes profusely and promises him not to bring the subject back.

after that, XY doesn’t log in much, avoiding XXC. A-Yao (18) notices he’s sullen and tries to spend more time with him, but the younger doesn’t budge and talks less and less. even SL (25) sees XY less and less, but he doesn’t thinks the younger one is actually skipping classes or anything.

but XY is, in fact, skipping school and Meng Shi covers for him saying he doesn’t feel well enough to go to class. she knows something’s up and she also understands the need to have days off in order to take care of yourself when everything goes to shit.

wangxian wedding happens and XXC is both happy and sad. they made him the official photographer of the day, which is both sweet and incredibly hurtful, because he’s the one taking all those beautiful pictures... and maybe he will never be able to look at them ever again after the surgery. WWX and LWJ already had to organize the wedding earlier than what they originally planned to accommodate XXC and the date of the surgery. XXC feels bad but he’s very happy for them.

YanLing and CanSe worry about him and they ask their mother to help them figure out what’s going on. BaoShan agrees with WWX that XXC had a fight with a friend, alright, but that cannot be all, surely...

it’s the week before XXC’s hospitalization and WWX takes the issue in his hands. logs in pretending to be XXC and plays until he takes XY’s place in the rankings of his and XXC’s favorite game.

XY receives notifications about it and initially fumes at the idea of being outranked, but then he understands what XXC is trying to do and doesn’t know how to react.

he does something horrible instead.

WWX waits to be contacted by this jiang_zai boy who broke XXC’s heart, but when it finally happens... it’s not the familiar, high-pitched voice he expects to hear in the chat. it’s a girl (A-Qing), who tells him her brother had died and that he won’t be playing games anymore. she sounds too serious to be joking and WWX tries to ask more about it... but she just tells him her brother killed himself before ending the call.

WWX doesn’t have the heart to tell this to XXC, not before the surgery and not until he has properly recovered (one year later).

XXC had wondered about XY in silence, not trusting himself to reveal all about his crush to his family, worrying about making the other boy uncomfortable.

XXC misses XY, but he is patient. he can wait.

A-Qing had agreed to lie for XY only because he lied to her first: he told her a creep on the internet had tried to meet with him and he needed a way out; outraged, A-Qing had helped him without a second thought and answered the chat in his place.

this spurs her to take more seriously what she and her siblings had been doing on the Internet and reconsiders some of the things she herself posted in the past. she will take this topic so much at heart that she will pursue an academic career to become a social worker.

XXC’s surgery goes well, but he still loses his sight after a while. WWX ends up telling him what happened to his online friend and XXC is so heartbroken he doesn’t even blame WWX for keeping the secret from him for so long.

after some time BaoShan makes sure he goes to therapy and takes better care of him, helping him figure out what to do. she fears people will look down on XXC and, as a blind person, he will probably be hindered by the system to pursue a career, so she retires from her job at the museum and focuses all of her attention on him.

XXC feels guilty for XY’s passing, but he doesn’t think the other had been triggered to commit suicide bc of him: XXC simply fears XY had hid a different type of sorrow from him; a pain so deep that XXC had failed to see while they were playing silly games. so, three years after the surgery, when he’s 21, he enrolls in uni to study psychology to help kids who are struggling to ask for help.

15 years after XXC and XY had met online:

XY is 30 and a professional carer. he studied to become a nurse, of all things, after what happened. he got a lot of time to think about the horrible thing he had done to XXC and considered helpings others to atone for that.

he is the first to say such a choice was very out of character for him, and even if he has to bite his tongues at times he doesn’t mind his job: it keeps him occupied and exhausts him well enough... but after working in the hospital for 5 or so years he decides to become a carer and trains to help disabled people in particular in his late twenties.

A-Su (30) has become a chemical engineer and married a man working as a lawyer (who happens to be LXC), while A-Yao (31) ends up moving in with his best friend (NMJ). A-Qin (29) doesn’t find romance interesting enough to give up on her career as a social worker, so she doesn’t really move out of Meng Shi’s old flat and everyone is fine with that. A-Yu (27) has graduated from uni and travels the world as an interpreter. Meng Shi and SiSi have lived together since the first has adopted all the kids and they opened a B&B near the seaside. they are wives and very in love.

XY lives with A-Qing in Yunmeng until his late 20s and they fight a lot for stupid things (like when A-Qing makes fun of the boring people her brother hooks up with on the regular, or when XY tries to coerce her to do the fucking laundry by tickling her into a pulp of pain and tears), but otherwise they work well together.

A-Qing is working at the community center as a social worker to help the kids find purpose in life and use the internet safely. she still believes a creep had tried to mess with her brother and doesn’t want anything to happen to the kids under her care. XY knows this, but never got around to tell her the truth, believing it would have been pointless to reveal her how everything she knew had been a lie. even her own purpose on top of that.

A-Su’s husband (LXC) rarely got to speak with XY in person, the latter busy with his job as a nurse most of the time, but during a dinner party LXC has to suddenly leave because of an emergency: his brother-in-law had been brought to the hospital after a car crash and lost the use for both of his legs.

one year later, XY (29) coincidentally becomes WWX’s personal carer and decides to move closer to the man’s house in Yiling since it would be troublesome to help him as efficiently otherwise. XY does not recognize WWX (34) from his voice or name (he did play games with him in the past, sure, but he knew him as XXC’s nephew by the name of Wei WuXian, not Wei Ying, which is the name LWJ uses around him) and helps him around the house and out of it.

WWX’s husband (LWJ) is frequently out of the house to work as a lawyer like his older brother and entrusts WWX to XY, even if begrudgingly so.

WWX pretends to be fine, but he has a tendency to try to sneak out and walk on crutches without anyone noticing, so LWJ has asked for a carer to come to their house every day. XY doesn’t have to bite his tongue as much around WWX, their interactions easy enough for the both of them to work together despite bickering about the stupidest things.

XY discovers WWX is friends with Wen Qing (37) (the same intern who helped the psychologist take care of XY and A-Qing while they sorted their shit out in the past).

he meets her and learns from her how WWX’s family had moved in Yiling to help him recover after the crash. her brother Wen Ning is the physiotherapist helping WWX regain control of his legs, but there are basically no chances for him to go back to be a professional athlete even if he were to walk once more.

this new information spurs XY to force WWX to rest more and take his situation more seriously. they work together to find possible solutions and WWX decides that he would much rather have his legs cut off from the knee down that suffer through the pain of having multiple fractures splitting him apart day after day. the surgeons had done their best to save his legs, but the fractures had compromised his nerves maybe forever and the pain is now unbearable.

LWJ trusts his husband but he’s weary at the idea of having him evaluated for amputation. XY refuses to feel responsible for the tension in the house, since this is clearly what WWX wants. XY knows WWX is secretly considering running again on prosthetic legs in the future, but he doesn’t want to anger LWJ more by mentioning it. it’s too soon to know anyway, and who is he to tamper down what little hope WWX has managed to harbor for himself after an entire year drowning in grief?

one year later WWX (35) gets permission from his physician to get prosthetic legs fitted for his needs and he couldn’t be happier. his family visit him more frequently now to congratulate him, even his grandmother who has descended from the mountain where she retired to in order to celebrate him.

XY (30) has already met WWX’s parents and his oldest uncle, but he never suspected them to be related to XXC, because he had never knew them by name.

yet, one day Song Lan (38) comes in with a huge backpack on his shoulders and recognizes XY immediately. XY doesn’t know why his old counselor is there: he knew WWX’s other uncle was coming over, but he never imagined it was SL they were talking about.

SL is beaming at him, signing he met XY’s bother A-Yu during one of his travels as a tour guide and that they kept in touch. SL has come to know XY is the reason behind WWX’s recovery and he tells the younger man that everyone in their family is happy XY has appeared in their life.

XY doesn’t have time to answer, overwhelmed with this sense of belonging, this sense of being finally, finally accepted somewhere outside of his own family... that someone else enters the house with a backpack on his shoulders.

XY doesn’t know the man and SL enthusiastically guides him over to meet the newcomer. XY is surprised to hear SL speak out instead of using sign language as the older man asks “A-Chen” to come meet “his nephew’s savior”. based on the pronouns SL has just used, XY recognizes the newcomer to be WWX’s actual uncle and he smiles at the beautiful man in front of him...

...only to be filled with horror the minute the other speaks.

XXC (32) greets XY without knowing who he really is, smiling at him without even recognizing the younger man’s voice. the two of them had never seen each other, playing games only through chats and calls... but XY recognizes XXC immediately, aware that his own voice has changed drastically over the years.

XY is still transfixed and petrified when XXC asks him if it would be okay for him to touch his face to have a better idea of who he’s interacting with. XY doesn’t even register himself voicing his consent when he feels XXC’s hands on his face. only then he understands the infamous surgery had failed and that XXC did not regain his sight after his nephew’s wedding.

overwhelmed with grief, guilt and longing for what never was and never could be, XY is unaware of the tears rolling down his cheeks as XXC gently trails his features. XXC apologizes when he feels his palms dampening and he asks XY if he overstepped. next to them SL is distressed, not understanding what’s happening in front of him.

XY shakes his head and simply says... that he lost someone and that XXC reminded him of that person. then he excuses himself looking for WWX, to ask him to give him something... anything to do. he gets himself a task to accomplish and leaves the house brimming with relatives that he will never be able to call his own.

1 year later:

XXC and SL do not leave the city as they originally planned. they have travelled long enough for the time being and they decide to get a house close to WWX and his husband. they spend the following year after their return looking for stability and peace.

XY (31) didn’t stop working for WWX (36) and doesn’t plan to. not now that he got his new legs finally fitted. the recovery takes long, but it’s already been two years since the amputation now and WWX tries his best every day. he believes to be a handful and doesn’t dare ask for things he needs after receiving the prosthetics. XY is there to loudly remind him to stop being an idiot and that he is paying XY to boss him around however the fuck he wants. LWJ is very grateful to hear WWX laugh more and more these days thanks to XY.

XXC (33), however, is frequently around his nephew’s house, keeping him company. before his three-or-so years of traveling with his boyfriend SL, XXC has briefly worked as a psychologist with Wen Qing, of all people and the two of them have applied for a position at the community center in Yunmeng at the same time. there isn’t one available in Yiling and the commute shouldn’t be too bad. during that first year after his return, XXC has met A-Qing multiple times to inquire for a place at the center in Yunmeng and they are quickly becoming more involved with each other because of their shared passion for the job.

XY feels the end nearing, time ticking away. it had been an agonizing, brilliant, terrible year the one he had spent so close to XXC... and it is now coming to an end. knowing that A-Qing will eventually tell XXC how and why she became a social worker, spilling everything about how “her pitiful bastard of a brother had been molested by a pervert online” and so on. he only hopes A-Qing will never get to meet WWX... she would absolutely recognize the other man’s voice and accuse him of being the pervert in question and XY... XY will die.

XY feels trapped and he will most certainly have a stroke the moment XXC will realize that he lied to him, that he is still alive, that his reason to become a psychologist to help troubled kids was not a real thing... XY will die and Meng Shi will cry.

only because he lied about being 17 when he was 15 one day of 16 years ago.

XY disappears the same night XXC tells him he invited A-Qing over. SL (39) is overjoyed at the idea of meeting the girl once more after the time she and her step-siblings used to go to sign language classes at the community center in Yunmeng. WWX is interested as well, having heard all about A-Qing from XY along the years.

but XY disappears anyway.

2 years later:

it’s XuanYu (30) who finds him, but doesn’t ask him to go back home. A-Yu takes XY (33) with him in his travels for some months to hide him. he doesn’t ask him what he did in those two years, but he does force him to call Meng Shi and SiSi at least.

XY complies but still feels empty inside. the single year he had spent with XXC while the other visited WWX will be permanently engraved in his memories and he cannot stop thinking about it. about how gentle XXC had always been with him, how sad he had looked and sounded reminiscing an “old online friend who had died many years back”, how generous he had always been towards him and everyone and... and XY cannot do this anymore.

A-Yu may be younger than him, but he protects him well for those months... waiting for XY to tell him the truth. so one winters night finally XY does, starting from the beginning.

the following week, close to New Years, XY realizes A-Yu had betrayed him.

someone rings the bell of their shared apartment and A-Yu asks him to go open the door. XY does and it’s A-Qing (32) and WWX (38) who greet him with tears in their eyes. A-Qing tackles him on the ground and tries to hit him they way they used to do as kids, fists getting the point across faster than any word ever could, but WWX pries them apart and hugs them instead.

somehow, XY had not been notified of having acquired a new sibling, but WWX clearly considers him a brother of sorts and he had missed him greatly. A-Qing explains that A-Yu had sent her an email with XY’s version of the truth, sure... but she also tells him that she and WWX had solved the mystery soon after XY’s disappearance already, after talking extensively on the matter.

A-Qing had recognized WWX as the person she had talked to in chat all those years ago, that is true, but she also realized WWX was not, in fact, a bad person and that something didn’t add. when she understood who XY’s online friend actually was... she had felt sick to her stomach for having let someone as kind as XXC presume XY had killed himself bc of him.

hurt and confused, XXC’s family and even A-Qing’s one had initially blamed XY for the pain he had caused, the lot of them filled with anger and grief. especially BaoShan, who had felt guilty for not supervising and protecting her younger son better when he was still too naive to understand the ways of the world.

but then, seeing XY was not coming back, Meng Shi and SiSi insisted for XXC’s family to help them with the search instead. after two years the lot of them missed him. yes, even those who still berated him for his poor choices in life.

XXC now knows the truth and only wants XY to come back home.

some days later:

XXC opens the door after hearing the bell and he knows, he knows who the person in front of him is. he already had his suspicions back when he used to visit WWX every day two years back. WWX’s carer reminded him so much of his friend that... that he may have hoped.

but now XY is back and he has a name and a face and is alive and XXC greets him with a smile as the other hugs him and never lets go.

XY has never been happier in his entire, miserable life.

and XXC will never lose sight of him ever again.

BNHA AU Ideas: Lab-brat

TL;DR:

Age 7, Izuku is taken from the family he knows to become a human labrat for the league of villains.

Age 13, he escapes.

izuku is a lil quirkless kid, born to an absent dad and a really great mum

like hisashi? he vanished when it came out izuku was quirkless. little did they know, he was actually trying to do right by them by doing that

because when izuku turns 6 hisashi's boss finds out about his quirkless son. dr tsubasa has new nomu fodder

hisashi tries to stop them but he doesnt want his son to suffer this alone if they kill him, so he gives in, they take izuku on his 7th birthday. bakugo is angry because no one will tell him what happened to izuku, because no one knows. inko moves in with the bakugos

now, they've never made a nomu from a quirkless kid before, but afo has given quirks to quirkless people before, and they didn't have any negative effects, which he's interested in. so they ask izuku if hed like a quirk and izuku says yes please! because he doesnt know hes been kidnapped, because his dad is there

afo is honestly just very interested in where this is going, he doesnt ever expect to really use izuku as a nomu, more a lab rat than anything. plus, the kid is cute and plays well with tomura so he might be useful

he asks izuku what type of quirk he'd like and izuku rambles about quirks for a little bit happily and tsubasa is Very Interested because if, like he thinks, the extra quirks dont break this kid's brain, hes going to have one very helpful labrat

also yes in this au shigiraki calls him "lab-brat"

so izuku eventually comes to the end of his quirk ramble and says "something minor but that can be used creatively"

so afo gives him a hardening quirk that can be used on a meter square of skin at a time

afo tells him it might hurt a bit but izuku says hes brave! so he takes it without crying and afo tells him hes very strong

izuku asks when hes going to see his mum. afo smiles and hisashi has a bad feeling

"your mum didn't want you anymore, she asked your dad to take care of you because he didn't like that you were quirkless. i didn't think that was fair so i told your father he could bring you to stay here."

and izuku is upset but his mum was never very supportive of him,,, she was nice? but other than that she just kinda exsisted. afo tells him its ok, sometime people are very mean without meaning to be and izuku is allowed to stay with dr tsubasa and his father so izuku cheers up a little

the doctor says hes going to work as his lab assistant as homeschooling and izuku is very excited to study quirks!! hisashi feels kinda bad bc he didn't want his son to be a villain but he's in awe of afo's ability to lie his actual ass off and his son is happy now so it's all good

basically: they know izuku has a hero complex a mile wide, so instead of breaking him, they play into it

anyway, extra quirks don't seem to degrade his mental function, afo tells izuku his quirks are from villains, trades and donations,,, which,,, he's not really lying ab that

izuku is priceless as a living growing experiment so they are very kind to him and pretty fond of him, he ends up getting a lot of healing quirks to compliment his role as lab-brat/nurse

so he has a much less powerful rewind quirk than eri, its like only 3 times normal speed in reverse, activated by choice

he has a pyrokinesis quirk (he got it for his birthday, he wanted to match his dad)

a feathered wing quirk (requested by dr tsubasa bc it would he "practical" (aka dude has issues))

he no longer has the hardening quirk, it went to an "employee"

also has a night vision quirk, a disinfection quirk, a jump quirk and a mild resistance quirk

most of the quirks he has a helpful ones, but ones that couldn't be used on nomu bc they needed an actual strategy to use. he had an emitter with mind mutation qualities at one point? so hes kinda a mismatch of a fluffy, glowing, lanky green child

v e r y smart, also very pale! because he's been outside very rarely

hes been told hes doing contract work for the heroics commission

so he does quirk testing (hes given the quirk for a bit and mucks around with it, then gives it back) and analysis

hes always thought something was wrong? because his big brother tomura hates heroes and ways always upset, his dad and tsubasa looked sad sometimes and sensei got hurt really badly one day and he had to help fix him

(he almost threw up bc afo had n o f a c e and izuku had to touch him, tsubasa couldn't convince izuku afo was alive until he had his eyes back)

and bc izuku is a soft boy he just wants to save them! so age 13 he goes to the part of the lab hes not allowed to bc its too "dangerous"

afo isnt surpirsed exactly, he was expecting this and had a tracker implanted in the kid. but he thinks this could be interesting, new data to collect. the chip can read his vitals/location etc. so they dont need him by their side to collect data on him

so he just tells tsubasa and hisashi to let him go, afo will collect him if he gets too hurt. shigiraki is sad bc his mariokart buddy is gone but the labbrat with be back soon, because heroes are terrible

so they move the lab just incase, but dont really expect izuku to sell them out

so izuku is on his own in a city he doesnt know

hes not treated very well by strangers because hes very "mutant" looking, and has no money to his name. he doesnt trust police, he doesnt trust most heroes

a lot of the heroes he did analysis on turned out to be shady at best and hes nervous they'll throw him back to sensei

then he remembers nezu

nezu was a labrat, just like him.

and he thinks he might have a hope

so izuku knows the heroes that work at UA

he knows they are all good people too. heroics teaching pays well, but not as well as patrolling can, so they must value the kids over fame. however, he also knows rocking up in front of them asking to see nezu is a terrible idea

but its the only one he has

so, before he does all this he gets nezu's email and explains that he needs to talk to him, knowing nezu wont respond but at least he'll know of izuku if this stupid idea works, so he becomes a hero chaser

mics fight? shows up, heals mic and tells him he needs to talk to nezu then he runs away bc the police are coming

midnight? blocks a knife with his wing and heals her wounds, telling her he really needs to talk to nezu

aizawa? finds him bleeding in an alley and sits with him for an hour while he heals his wounds, tells him he really needs to talk to nezu

so at this point, nezu is very intrigued mostly because mic, midnight and aizawa have no idea what this kid's quirk is, and they have described him as looking different each time

so when the alarm goes off at UA before school starts hes not particularly alarmed, and he asks everyone to wait before responding

hes rewarded when he sees a sheepish izuku knocking on his window

anyway, izuku isnt doing too hot. in fact, afo was a few days away from picking him up because he was starving, cold and in pain

nezu opens the window and the first thing out of izuku’s mouth is "i was a labrat too" and nezu is Very Very Interested

izuku spills all he can and its clear to nezu that even though izuku thinks hes been treated well? he hasn't been

so nezu asks izuku if he has anywhere to go. which he doesnt, because his mum "gave him away" nezu asks if he'd be ok if he stayed with some of the teachers and izuku says "no i dont want to be a bother, ill find somewhere!" and aizawa walks in and says "lol nope come with me"

so hes just turned 14 fyi, aizawa is teaching some 3rd years and after they graduate hes getting a new class of first years (which hes going to expell all of them.)

so anyway, izuku tells them ab his quirks and nezu has a bad feeling so he calls all might and allmight has the worst feeling bc fuck its afo the bastard isn’t dead

7.24.18 // 9:30am // starting a semester without shooting yourself in the foot

hola! recently got an ask from an anon about how to start the new semester so here it is. (sorry for the early back to school posts but like? winter is coming? yeah sorry don’t watch game of thrones) xoxo, m

general tips:

1. make a schedule: put in the things that have to happen each day. so classes, sports practices, work etc. this’ll help you evaluate how much time you have to do things like homework and if you have time to take on more extracurriculars and things. it’ll also prevent you from scheduling stuff during these times where you have to be somewhere else.

2. plan somewhere: ok so despite owning a studyblr and a bullet journal that i share with you guys, i kinda suck at planning. i completely relate to the abandoned planner/bujo situation. ideally, you might want to implement something like this. if that doesn’t work for you, just have a notebook where you jot down all your lists (that can be events, to-dos, reminders). you could even use an app (google keep is helpful bc you can sync bt phone and computer). just find somewhere to put down your thoughts.

3. read the syllabus/any emails from your prof/teacher: make sure you do all your summer homework. there might be a quick assignment/supply that you need to bring on the first day. also figure out where your class is. that’s kinda important. get familiar with policies like when to turn in hw, what their late work policy is. write yourself a cheat sheet if you have to.

4. map out your route: this is more of a first day/week type deal, but just figure out how you’re gonna get from place to place so you’re not stressing about being late. you can do this in person by walking around campus or just mentally if you’re familiar. if you’re in college and need to factor in meal/bus times, figure that out too.

5. get on your teacher/profs good side: i’m not saying to suck up or anything, but treat them with courtesy and try not to be late. if you’re one of those people that likes to be really familiar with your prof/teacher, start going to office hours just to say hi (or obv if you need help). i’m generally of the “invisible student” type, but there are definitely pros to having your instructor know your name.

6. compare your schedule: if your teacher/prof has already given you dates of major projects or exams, look that over. make sure you don’t already have any pre-planned trips (ex: my cousin is getting married and we’ve known the date for months). teachers/profs will always be more flexible about changing the dates of things or allowing you to take exams early/late if you let them know asap. you might think, “oh it’ll be easy to ask them to take it early”. not necessarily. if they haven’t made up the exam yet and you ask them a week in advance to take the exam early, not going to get a happy prof. and they’ll probably say no.

7. establish a routine: ok i kind of suck at this too, but mapping out when you’re going to do work etc is helpful. if all else fails, establish a sleep schedule. determine if you work better early in the morning or late at night. in my opinion, there’s no point in trying to be an early bird if you’re most productive from 11pm-1am.

8. make a clear organizational system: for most of us, this will inevitably go to shit once the semester drags on. but having one at the beginning of the year will make things go more smoothly and give you a structure to go back to once you realize you can’t find a damn thing.

9. find a good study spot: find a spot you like. actually find a few spots. now’s when you’ll have time to scout around campus/your town. nothing sucks more than needing to study for an exam/make the most of your time and having your only study space be occupied. i have actually spent like 20 minutes looking for a spot during exams. don’t do it.

10. experiment a little: if you already know what works for you, great. but if you’re trying to decide between going digital or using paper. rewriting your notes vs making them legible the first time around. do some quick experimentation when things are as hectic.

11. find a friend in each class: i am also horrendous at this. but it’s really helpful if you’re stuck on homework or didn’t quite catch something important the prof/teacher said. if no one you know is in the class, maybe think about making a new friend/study buddy.

12. go the extra mile while you still can: now is probably the time when you have less going on outside of school. take advantage of that to build a little “grade cushion”. take the time to do assignments early and go over them with friends so you’re sure everything is correct. go above and beyond on that project, your super busy self will thank you later when your rushing to finish homework and probably miss a bunch of questions. now, i also want to mention that you should only do this if you can reap some kind of benefit. it could be getting a 100 instead of a 93 or just for self satisfaction. but don’t waste your time painting a masterpiece when your english teacher asks for a stick figure drawing to illustrate a scene from huck finn. the highest grade you can get is 100% and you could probably do that with some well placed lines. unless, like i said, you get personal satisfaction from said masterpiece. and you have the time to do it. :) hint, hint: i was that extra af kid in english class.

college specific tips (that might also apply elsewhere?)

1. go to class: ok i am an advocate of the “skip class when you need to” method (unpopular opinion), but you should go for at least the first week if not month. your teacher/prof will outline important policies that might not be in the syllabus. you’ll be able to tell if you really need a textbook (i usually rent for easy returns or wait until a couple days in or both) and get a feel for the prof. are they super strict on things like deadlines/guidelines or more relaxed. you’ll learn where you can bend the rules. from there, at your own risk, you can evaluate if you really need to go to class or not.

2. make sure you unpack so you can find things: don’t just toss everything into a drawer. it will come back to bite you when you’re frantically searching for that one item.

3. get to class early: i mean like 20 minutes early. (potentially earlier if you’re in a freshman class full of overachievers). this will allow you to choose where you want to sit and give you time to get situated. if you want to meet new people, maybe sit towards the middle. also, though college classes rarely have assigned seats, you’ll be choosing your unofficial official seat. don’t be that person that moves around all the time and displaces half the class because of it.

4. enjoy the first bit: catch up with friends, make new ones. you won’t have too much work for at least the first 2 days, so be efficient and don’t spend all day in your room/the library “doing work”. there will be plenty of time for that.

Creepslayerz Week - Day 6 -Fluff vs Angst

Sooo I have a few of these that I was unable to finish / never posted. I worked on mostly original stuff this weekend but I’m hoping to feel the inspiration to get a chapter up before the premier of 3 Below.

So read on, enjoy, I hope to hear from people either about this or my fic “For my glory, where do I stand”

(Side bar: I do have a pillowfort bc yikes this tumblr purge...)

I really would like to expand on this further (and it’s a quick oneshot, please forgive typeos etc, you guys know I don’t have a beta).

Tuesday. Thursdays. Saturday mornings. Sunday nights. Four days a week Steve Palchuk faced his past. The first time outweighed the in terms of fear. The first time, an accident saved Steve’s ass and damned him every day since.

The first time, a Saturday morning, Elijah Pepperjack came into the coffee shop. Steve had recently switched shifts, explaining why he had never seen him before. His victim from high school, a living memory of the man he used to be. Eli, smiling, set his bag in a corner spot. The best seat in the house had been unusually open. Elijah claimed it like his throne. At the counter, he gave Steve a look. He adjusted his glasses and did a quick glance as his nametag.

“Argentina.” Elijah did not ask, he simply said. He nodded and said the name again, “Argentina, can I get a caramel macchiato, hot, with almond milk? Extra caramel, no whip cream?” He spoke slow and timed it to Steve typing in his request. Eli was a regular, making Steve feel like a new customer. His fingers fumbled and Eli spoke slower and smiled with patience waiting to have it confirmed.

Steve asked, “Anything else?” He forced a smile. He was not new at this, dammit! He was a surprisingly competent barista! He was just taken back how easily Eli accepted his nametag. It was not his own, but instead a coworker’s, fondly known as Arrrghh!!!! They had a second badge made, no one knew who Argentina was. Staff and guests alike only knew them as Arrrghh!!! Steve, having forgot his badge at home (or under a rock for all he knew) grabbed the long forgotten tag in the back. Elijah did not question it and Steve became unknown. In that moment they met without history.

“Eli,” Steve called out his name. Was it the first time? Three years since graduation. Three years since he said, “see you later buttsnack” for the foreseeable last time. How long had they shared the same university? Every day of the week, not just the four he saw Elijah, Steve wondered and looked for traces of his old acquaintance. Their school was large, students were a number. Steve got in on scholarship, football. He did not doubt Elijah had gotten a hell of a scholarship on his own. He smart as ever—a quick glance at his laptop while picking up plates cemented the thought. His screen was all numbers, calculations and formulas going right over his head.

Why had he not appreciated that growing up?

“Thanks, Argentina.” Steve had to keep wearing the badge. He kept it in his pocket, switching it out when Elijah came. He arrived on the same schedule, his routine was horrifyingly predictable. Eli had not changed, which bothered Steve even more. He could recognize Eli, was he so unrecognizable? Steve still had blonde hair, a stunning jaw, he was cocky, and proud and had muscles.

The reason came to Steve on a Saturday night. The football games and practice. Spring Fling King Steve, would only ever be near the field during the season. To practice and to play. There was no way Steve, his bully Steve, would be caught dead anywhere else. Especially the biggest game of the season, homecoming and he was working as a barista. Most games, he’d be there, but everyone had plans. Steve talked to his coach, there was some debate but ultimately he said yes.

Business was slow, even nerds were at the game, it was a grand tradition. Steve cleaned tables and folded napkins keeping himself busy. Nothing was enough to stop haunting thoughts. His shoulder ached and no amount of rolling would soothe them. A complete tricep tear had put Steve out of commission. His first surgery, his freshman year went well. He could not believe that shitty luck but pressed on. He came back hot and stronger than ever. Until the last game of Sophomore year. Steve had made it to the A-team. There was no ache that could stop him. His sweat and blood forced him to go on and on. He would be number one. He would be captain senior year—he would get sacked that game and let out a cry that turned every head.

His doctor never gave him the go ahead to return to the game. His life was over. There was so very few people who would understand, so few who could pull him back. He stopped going to class. He stopped planning for what was going to happen next. Then, of the very few, he came. Captain Draal. A goofy big guy, with a serious switch that kept you on edge. Steve had complete respect for his senior, especially when he learned he was openly gay. As a freshmen who recently figured out he was bi, he was an idol. Steve had not been ready to come out though he almost did after hearing a story about Draal whooping a linebackers ass, off school grounds. Officially on the school record, the dispute had been settled with words. Draal was an inspiration for the teachers. Gay Athlete solves confrontation with civil words. Unofficially the kicker texted QB Draal with details, seeing the guy in his neighborhood, at a friend’s party. Draal showed up and threw down. Rumor went, he said if he ever heard him call anyone the F-word again he’d wish it would be a dick being shoved down his throat.

Draal was a king. He was the only one to tell Steve he heard how impressed his psyche teachers were with him. That he talked to the counselor about a new sports scholarship. He went from player to counselor. Steve the asshole was becoming Steve the shoulder.

Working the slow night in the café was horrible. He could hear only an echo of Draal saying, “You’re still going to be great.” Steve asked, “Could I have been captain?” The words yes never hurt so much. How the fuck was he going to help counsel when he still had not gotten over himself?

“Argentina?” A voice asked, concerned and soft as a mouse.

Steve was standing at an empty table, his once wet rag dry from the circles he’d been wiping in.

“Elijah, shit, sorry Pepperjack.” The words came out quicker than either of them could process. Eli shook his head, his brain firing off.

“Pepperjack?”

“Your last name.”

Elijah, turned from his awkward angle at his lone table and faced Steve head on. He watched carefully and pointedly looked at his nametag. “I never told you that.” He was sure of himself, sure as Steve was that he’d been waiting for a moment like this.

“Didn’t have to.” Weeks of watching and pretending had become exhausting. Arrgghh!!! Was getting annoying, annunciating Argentina everytime they called his name. Constantly saying, “You’ll get his number quicker if you just stop staring.”

Psych 101, bullying is a form of interpersonal aggression. It is a group phenomenon with social factors contributing and perpetuating different contexts. His first psych class had been to fill a requirement. His teacher however inspired him. Steve took the material and had a true self reflecting moment. He didn’t have the badge to diagnosis himself and did not think he could ever commit to medical school to really get the degree for psychologist. But there was something. Something calling and sticking out. It started when he picked himself apart.

Why did he harass Elijah Pepperjack? He was strange. He was his own person. He was quiet. A nerd. He was cute. Steve liked it when he raised his hand because no one else volunteered. Seeing him pout made Steve’s chest swell. But. There were environmental factors that made him noticing everything wrong. At the time, he wanted to beat the affection out. Unable to stop himself, he chose to stop Elijah. He tormented the kid because Steve could never face himself.

Arrgghh!!! Was not wrong. He could get Elijah’s number a lot quicker if he texted Claire, she was on a study abroad trip and was always checking her email. He could even text Jim. They were never close but had a strange bond from some supernatural adventures. He would never text Toby, Domsalski would turn around and text Elijah, Jim, and Claire with a big OH MY GOD.

Asking would be easier, if he did not have to keep up being Argentina. But being anyone else meant instantly being shut down.

“Hey,” The voice pipped up again, “Are you okay?” Qualms of the last name were put to the back burner. Steve shook his head. No! It was homecoming night and he was not on the field! He did not even have a date to the dance because the girl he thought he liked he called it off with. For the past three weeks, every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday he’d been thinking about a four eyes. He was right back under his skin and he was just as angry as he had been as a kid.

“No.” Steve’s reply was clipped and curt. Elijah darted from chair to chair around the café, empty, he gestured to the seat across from him and his laptop. Steve left his rag on the table and took the seat, apparently he left his stomach there too. His gut twisted and turned, knotting on nothingness. Why did this feel like an interview that he lied to get in to? Five years experience required? Sure!

“So…” Elijah closed his computer and drummed on the lid. The click-click drawing too much attention, he instead fidgeted with his hoodie sleeves, already frayed with years of panic. Steve watched the stickers on the laptop lid as they went down. He learned three fundamental things at the exact same time. First, despite his original findings, Elijah was still into the supernatural. There were three glow-in-the-dark ghost stickers in one corner and a Torchwood emblem at the very center. Second, what was a Creepslayerz and why were there three stickers of the same kind? Third, he needed to say something. Elijah was polite as ever, giving time to the world around while seeking none for himself.

Silence was getting him nowhere. His counselor encouraged him to make his voice heard. He encouraged players on the team to stand up for what they believed in. Their focus needed to be on the game, not a lie. “Listen Elijah,” Steve did not need to draw his company’s attention. Nothing had been stealing his focus.

“Do you remember a guy in high school, an ass. Totally handsome. Totally a jerk. Went by Steve, well his name was Steve—is Steve.” He fumbled over his own words, his lie already getting in the way of his focus. The lead did not require much inspiration, Elijah was smart, he didn’t need things to be laid out. A string pulled up on Elijah’s shoulders. His bully, hateful and impractical was supposed to be working in a car shop in Arcadia-Oaks. Not in a coffee shop on a game night. Not looking awkward in a dim light.

“Steve?” Elijah was not sure. How could he! They looked a lot, of course, he thought Steve was Steve the first cup of coffee the other had made. The name tag was the deal breaker. Elijah could breathe knowing his past was behind him. His arm closed around his stomach, rubbing his side. His past was in front of him.

“Yeah.”

Steve’s past was in front of him.

Steve actually said it! He was the nightmare. He was real. This night fucking sucked. Why not get it all out at once? His knee bounced, Elijah had to say something. Bastard. Why are you here? You ruined my life!

Silence.

Elijah locked up, reconciling the worlds.

He stared and Steve read his thoughts. “I can’t play football anymore.” His shoulders sank at the confession. It hurt telling his mother, his coach, strange how it hurt telling a stranger. Arcadia-Oaks knew Steve to be the man. He posted on Instagram and Facebook constantly with updates and accomplishments. That was before the accident. He let everyone assume he was swept up in college magic, too busy to post. Eli too, had been under that spell.

“It’s hard.” He answered for him. “And…I’m sorry, dude.” He laughed tight and forced. What had he belittled Eli about? A nerd unable to play ball? This was fucking Karma. “I’m sorry.” The apology came quicker and heavy, taking several breathes from him. “I’m really, fucking sorry.” He called Elijah a cocksucker. All his fears and denials were easy to beat on someone smaller. He couldn’t fight a thought, but he could terrorize a human.

“Steve, hey man, that’s history. Are-” His lips flapped closed, Elijah nearly asked the same question. Steve was not okay, not even alright. Elijah had time to recover, distance between them had shown him the greatness that awaited him. Hours away from Arcadia was practically the other side of the world. Yet here Steve was, just on the other side of campus.

“Are you busy tonight?” Elijah asked the unaskable. Steve gawked. Was he hearing him right?

“What?”

“What?” Elijah repeated, “I’d like to catch up. With Steve, not Argentina.”

Warmth bubbled in the back of Steve’s throat. Elijah was always this good, once it made him hate him! Now he wanted his number even more. What sort of person could face their once bully head on? Steve looked at his watch, Elijah’s eyes were too much. They scrutinized and wondered.

“In two hours.”

“Cool. I’ll have my homework done by then.”

“Cool.”

It was not cool, busying himself around the shop, around Elijah. Any by standers wandering in he hoped they steered clear of Eli’s section. He didn’t want to go over and clean up. No way Elijah would mind, it was part of Steve’s job! But Steve minded. He minded a lot. It was too soon, what were they supposed to talk about? Eli’s favorite drink? The way Steve switched between hearts and smiley faces on the dot over the I? He wanted to be obvious. He wanted Elijah’s number—all when he was someone else. Argentina. Not Palchuk.

Steve joined Elijah outside, wearing a burgundy school hoodie. The Batman symbol glowed on Elijah’s chest. Adorable. Perfect. His eyes flicked away, Elijah moving the straps on his backpack had to be a signal. “So,” What was he supposed to say.

“Creepslayerz?” Steve had noticed the decal before, he had not realized there were three. All the same exact font.

“My band.” Elijah grinned, he started them walking ahead, following the sidewalks under the yellow street lights.

“You have a band? You, Elijah Pepperjack?” In high school Elijah had been into theatre. They bumped shoulders when Steve applied for the leading role—just for a kiss—more of anything to piss Jim off.

“I do. I help write music. We actually have a light show,” Elijah pointed to himself. His shoulders rocked from side to side, a proud shuffle. “Designed that myself. Helps working as a stage hand for the school plays.” Steve could see that. The technical stuff, he doubted the band had much ground to it, but what would Elijah be able to do with a real budget?

“So you help write the music? You don’t preform…?”

“Sometimes. But Krel is really the face of the band. Aja too. She’s our hypeman.” Dancer, number one fan, Krel’s sister so she might as well be in the band. Her position only stayed unofficial to prevent a guilt trip commitment. Aja was president of the robotics club and treasurer of the international club. Her time was divided and the duo didn’t want to keep her.

“Claire inspire you, huh?”

Elijah pulled a tight face. Not really, Claire was great and they were on similar paths but completely different styles. He hadn’t talked to her in ages.

“Krel and Aja though, huh?”

“Transfer students from Cantalupa.”

“Well that sounds made up.”

“Yeah well, I think Krel makes up a lot of things. Then makes it real when you’re not looking, so I just go with it.” His smile grew, his eyes looked beyond one foot in front of the other, a place of fondness. A place where Steve wasn’t.

“You two close?”

“Yeah, I mean, we’re friends. Roommates freshman year, roommates now.”

Steve nodded. He missed out on three years, four years before that, and more before that. “How come you’re not in the paranormal club?”

Elijah looked to Steve, a grin growing, “you know I’m not?”

“Well. I just. I’m in it so—”

“You? You’re in it?” Elijah shook his head, no way! Not Steve!

Steve grinned, doubt, everyone doubted that fact. “Yes way, Eli. I like. The spooky shit. The strange. All the junk you used to go on and on about.”

“You’re serious?”

“As the plague.”

Elijah covered his mouth, his smile too big for a lame joke.

“Why? You didn’t believe in it, do you now?”

“Aliens? No. Chupacabras—we’ve had some heated discussions and have come to agree they’re racoons. Which, then they say Aliens are real. They’re left by aliens. I just say the Chupa—” Steve reeled himself in. He straightened his shoulders and quickened his walk. “Ghosts, yeah.”

“Trolls?” Elijah’s stride double to meet Steve’s walk.

“Haven’t met one yet.” Steve looked at him, letting the suggestion sink in.

“So you’ve seen a ghost?”

“Mhm. Well. I mean other than you tonight.” Another lame joke, Steve’s laugh was tight and Elijah’s exuberant.

“That is so wicked cool! Are you guys going on any hunts?” He bounced up and down, hopping in front of Steve, completely serious.

“Are you serious?”

Elijah nodded and tugged on his backpack.

“I mean yeah, it’s October. We always get fair-weather attendees so you coming won’t be a problem.”

He groaned and spun on his feet, he couldn’t believe the club was active! Discussions and ghost hunts! “I never joined because I joined international club, thanks to Krel and Aja. Then there was the band, I got a job at one of the computer labs.” Matching his schedule to a half-interested club where he’d be nitpicked was not on the to-do list. College was going to be the change, no longer the nerd hiding in the closet. Really, he’d been missing on the chance to share his passion.

“Alright, okay, so you’ll invite me?” Eli let his words hands, his hands wiggled a neon green phone case. Oh. Oh—shit! He was about to score the number, “Um-uh,” He stuttered, smiling and laughing at himself. His hands patted his front pockets, his back and dipped into his hoodie pockets.

“Phew,” His phone stuck against his hand, he was actually sweating. “What’s your number?” He typed as quick as he sent Elijah a text. Immediately Elijah replied with a ‘got it!’ Not like Steve was literally standing there.

‘Dork’ Steve texted.

‘Thought you were more of a butt-snack type of guy?’ Elijah watched Steve read, smirking when his lips curled into a smile.

“Okay, now we’re getting into full sentences. I can’t walk and type.”

“We’re standing still,” Elijah gestured around them. “Wow Steve, first night back together and already leaving me hanging? Impressive.”

‘Now you’re a butt snack’ He added an emoji of a peach, Elijah bumped their shoulders together. “I’m kidding.”

Ok I am gonna be super straight forward about this, making hairstyles like this is really challenging for me. I have tried a ton of times and I just can’t get the meshes to work out the way I like. UV mapping is a pain in the ass, making the hairline match well, and making sure none of the mesh strands are broken is next to impossible for me. Most creators that make hairstyles like this do them from scratch or spend a long time working on them for them to look right. I’m not saying ‘no’ because I am going to try to play around with some seasons meshes (I have hair ideas) but no promises :(

► As I said, I had no service so I missed the larvitar community day in pokemon go -_-

► I suck at cornhole so I was the cheer leader for a team UwU

► A deer jumped out right in front of the fucking car like RIGHT IN FRONT OF IT omg we were so close to hitting it like... it was fucking scary

► We went walking on a trail that was down a mountain and once we got down we discovered that the chairlift up was CLOSED so we had to walk back up and it was a nightmare bc we had all just drove like 30 minutes to shower in crappy no pressure no heat showers and we were all sweaty again by the time we got back to the top ;-;

Hello! I use an adfly skipper + adblock, and if both of those don’t work then I just don’t download the cc. For some creators (nolan-sims, simduction, isjao, ivo-sims, and others) I will turn them off because I know these creators aren’t ones that use the sketchy adfly stuff, but for others that I don’t know well I leave it on. I use: U Block origin and adfly skipper (both on firefox)

Hello!! I don’t think this is my eyes because I’m not experiencing this glitch? Did you run a S4S batch fix over everything? I think that causes this glitch sometimes but I am unsure. Try repairing your game and if you have the “no EA eyelash” mod then redownload that and replace the old file.

Something @radioactivesupersonic has said about how it doesn’t make sense if the Garrison is an ‘evil’ organisation, and to look at its employees, reminded me of a comparison that could be made.

See, I have an example of an actual ‘evil’ organisation where you can judge it by both its actions, and its employees.

Both Shinra and the Garrison are largely military.

Shinra has the army and SOLDIER and not only that, but weapons development as well (among other things). The Garrison, however, is tied to another organisation (likely the US government) that has authority over it.

The Garrison’s military status involves training their cadets and other officers to be able to defend themselves, and also to fly in defensible ways to avoid obstacles in space (such as an asteroid field). There might be weapons training, but whereas in Shinra that would be expected to be put to practical use, in the Garrison I’d say that it’s most likely for the sake of building discipline, the same reason anyone goes to a martial arts class.

Shinra’s science division is openly feared by other employees, and makes SOLDIERs and other staff members uncomfortable. The head of this department is someone who sees people as potential projects and experiments, and once they are, they are no longer people. Regardless of whether or not Sephiroth actually is Hojo’s son, Hojo still abused him in this way, and did not give the kid any love or support, and did not allow the boy to grow up in a loving, supportive atmosphere. Hollander, another leading scientist, has a very similar attitude. These experiments are kept from the rest of the company barring the President, and when subjects escape, they are hunted down with extreme prejudice.

The Galaxy Garrison’s scientific minds are a part of the infrastructure of the Garrison, and highly regarded by pretty much everyone. One of the leading scientists is someone who has a family - one that loves and respects him, and his children are highly defensive of him, ready to go to great lengths to get him back. Just as important is the fact that - despite Katie’s own negative experience with it - the Garrison has a school which openly teaches about the newest developments, keeping the youth educated. Katie also shows that she is able to be proud of the developments that her family are a part of discovering.

When someone disappeared from Shinra’s employ, we have various examples of how people reacted to this news. The first two disappearances less relevant to the third; with Zack’s disappearance we have Luxiere and Kunsel sending emails saying how they would help - Luxiere saying that Zack should ‘let himself be captured’ so that Luxiere could use a potential higher rank to get him out, and Kunsel offering to help in any way that he could. The rest of Shinra itself had to either work against itself (the Turks) due to this technically being a case of acting against orders, or... well, the army literally gunned Zack down. It’s as simple as that. And we don’t know what happened to Kunsel.

When confronted with the disappearance of Shiro, Matt, and Sam, the Garrison... well, instead of an impersonal email saying ‘killed in action: name here’, there was a TV broadcast which allowed everyone to know an admittedly edited version of the truth that was acceptable for the general public to know. Which clearly wasn’t acceptable to everyone, since we then see Katie breaking and entering into Iverson’s office, and yet... Iverson lets her go with a warning, a slap on the wrist for bad behaviour. What’s more, the Garrison isn’t at fault for the disappearance of their people, and when one of them - Shiro - reappears, they take safety measures to ensure that someone who is clearly in a state of panic doesn't injure them, but also that Shiro doesn’t injure himself.

Important to note: the worst things that Lance, Hunk, and Pidge are afraid of when assaulting the Garrison camp that’s been put up to investigate Shiro’s crashed Galran fighter, is that they’re going to get into trouble. At seeing their actual teachers out there and racing after them, they are afraid of being caught, but they do certainly not seem afraid of being killed. If the Garrison was a front for an ‘evil’ organisation that was going to experiment on any alien tech they could get their hands on, then the kids would have noticed something more going on than ‘why aren’t they hearing [Shiro] out’ and ‘aw man, I think that was Prof. Montgomery’. This show is not that subtle when it comes to pointing out when something suspicious is going on. Also, when they get away, the next thing we know of the Garrison is... Iverson and someone else being confused at the ‘Flying Blue Lion, sir.’ Which is both humanising and also indicative of ‘these are not the kind of people who are going to shoot it down to examine it.’

Something else we’ve talked about in chats is how compared to both the Garrison and the Galra Empire, Shinra’s tactic of draining the Planet in order to get power is far more like Zarkon’s approach of harvesting quintessence than the Garrison... literally just going out places to be excited and nerd out over new science. That’s literally the first thing that we see Garrison scientists do. Sam and Matt Holt being excited to explore and gain new knowledge.

So... I’d say that even though it’s not great all of the time, FFVII does a decent job of portraying how, through the average employee, the general workings of Shinra are suspect and that it is not a safe place to work, and that it’s not a safe world to inhabit because Shinra is in control. People are afraid of the scientists, the people we see as heroes are seen questioning their loyalty to the company (Zack, in the first chapter of Crisis Core) while still working for it, and those who talk or act against the company are dispatched and killed rather than talked to (CC, VII, BC).

The Garrison on the other hand encourages learning, the upper ranks are seen as human and not people to be afraid of unless you give them good reason to be angry (Lance’s team in the first episode not working as a team, the future Paladins stealing away someone who should have been in quarantine), their memories of being back on Earth and thinking of the Garrison are fond, and good. Sneaking out does not seem to have major consequences, and if it does, none of Lance, Hunk, or Pidge are all that bothered by them. Keith, who is expelled from the Garrison, is not hunted down, and does not seem to be afraid when coming face to face with Garrison scientists and a full camp of assorted others. The Garrison is often shown in warm lights, associated with good memories, and we have not in five entire whole seasons even heard of a single person protesting at the Garrison’s gates. Which, I’m sure we’d have had someone mention if that was a thing people did, if there was anyone who thought the Garrison was doing anything inhumane or non-ethical.

Basically... we have examples, actual examples of what it’s like when a military-scientific organisation does unethical things, and how that affects the protagonists, as well as everyday people. For VLD, this is... not one of those cases. We never see any of those signs or symptoms of something being wrong in the system. VLD is also not that subtle, and it’s easy to pick out when something is going wrong.

With that said, I think the intention is that the Galaxy Garrison is supposed to be a hero-backing organisation that may well come further into play in future seasons (hopefully sooner rather than later) and that will come to Earth’s defence for the sake of ‘this is the right thing to do, and why we’re here’ rather than the shady group that’s supposedly going to experiment on anything different and strange that some people seem to think it might be, or might have been at one point.

76. Have you ever had a moment with someone you like that seemed like a movie moment? Okay so the guy in Panama, right. We were at a bar and met up with one of his friends, a colombian guy. We were chatting and I mentioned that while in Colombia I never tried the Bandeja Paisa (national dish) because it’s massive and I was never hungry enough. He was almost horrified that I hadn’t tried it. He then found out that it was my last day in central america so he made a couple of phone calls and changed all of their plans. Originally panama guy was going to go back to the friend’s place and stay there for a few days before he flew back home. Instead, the three of us went and picked up the friend’s wife, drove out to their place an hour out of the city, while we each drank several beers, so they could shower and get changed. We then drove back to the city and went to a colombian place for dinner so I could try that dish. We then hung out in a bar for a few hours and drank and played pool and then panama guy stayed with me in my hotel for my last night. Literally, this guy that I’d never met before changed all of his plans, without prompting, so that his friend could spend one more night with a girl (me).That was pretty cool. I also never mentioned anything to this guy about me and panama guy being together so clearly panama guy had briefed him beforehand.

But it’s really bouyant so you float and physically cannot sink even if you try. It’s pretty cool and I went there while I was in colombia so obvs got covered in mud. She wanted something based on this post: Kurt sends an email to his TA while high on pain meds after a wisdom teeth extraction.

Blaine is in the middle of his theatre history class when his phone signals a new email in his inbox. Discreetly hiding the phone from his instructor’s view by keeping his hands behind a stack of textbooks on his desk, he goes to his email folder and checks the sender.

It reads, Kurt Hummel.

He has to bite his tongue to stop the smile forming on his lips. Kurt is a sophomore, only a year behind Blaine, and takes improv and stage combat class with Blaine. He’s also a student in one of Mme Tibideaux’s more advanced voice studio classes that Blaine miraculously got to be the TA for this year.

To say that Kurt is Blaine’s favorite student would be an understatement – in fact, hopelessly crushing on him is probably more accurate.

It’s not like Blaine is planning to do anything about it, at least not while he’s Kurt’s TA. It would be inappropriate, unprofessional, and probably also really awkward, especially if Kurt isn’t interested.

So, he’s not fooling himself into thinking that Kurt’s email will be anything out of the ordinary. Probably a note of absence or questions about the final exam… though, as Blaine notices with a frown, the subject reads “Paper Eggstension”. Autocorrect maybe? There’s no way Kurt’s spelling is that bad, Blaine has read and graded most of his MUS105 papers.

Glancing at the teacher to ensure he’s still unobserved, Blaine opens the email, intrigued and a bit concerned now. He scans the first few lines and – oh, wow.

Everyone at NYADA knows Kurt is full of surprises and he’s certainly made an impression on Blaine more than once but this…? This has Blaine blushing, giggling under his breath, shaking his head fondly and wanting to check up on Kurt all at once.

Blaine reads the email three times before deciding that he should wait until after class to type out a response. In the state he’s in right now, he’ll probably do something stupid and just write back, Yes to all.

He wants to, of course. He’d give Kurt an extension on his paper and say yes to a date with him in a heartbeat but… he knows he’ll have to convince Mme Tibideaux, sort out his personal TA-student dating policy (and maybe ask around if NYADA has an official take on it) and make sure Kurt really meant to type this and didn’t just do so in the spur of the painkiller-induced moment.

The class can’t end fast enough but as soon as it’s over and Blaine finds a quiet corner in the library to think of what to respond, he blanks, drafting several replies but ending up deleting all of them.

“Goddammit,” he mutters to himself. “Just write something.”

In the end, “something” doesn’t really compare to Shakespeare but Blaine figures that at least he won’t risk his job over it, either.

And maybe, just maybe, Kurt will catch the ambiguity in his words.

“What are you working on?” Rachel asks when she comes back to the loft, arms full of grocery bags that Kurt hopes are filled with veggies for him to make soup with. He seriously craves eating something that isn’t liquid but mushy veggies drowning in hot water really is the maximum of cheating when it comes to his pained cheeks. He knew it was a bad idea to get both upper wisdom teeth out the same day. But it’s too late to complain. At least he has a best friend who brings him soup.

Kurt sighs at the laptop in front of him.

“My paper for Mme Tibideaux,” he responds. “You know I love Sondheim but interpreting his work while physically injured makes me want to kill him.”

“He’s in his mid-eighties, Kurt,” Rachel tells him. “Let an old man be.”

“Ugh.” Kurt rubs his eyes. “The meds are making me tired, though.”

“Why do you even bother writing the paper when you got an extension from Mr. Dreamboat?”

Kurt frowns at Rachel. “Extension? When would I have gotten that?”

“In your email?” Rachel frowns back. “Come on, don’t tell me you chickened out just because you’re in love with him. He’s still our TA, he could probably do something about that deadline, so-”

“I don’t remember writing an email.” Kurt goes to student email and punches in his username and password. “Or getting one back, for that matter. Like, wouldn’t I rem-” He blinks in surprise, catching Blaine’s name in his inbox – twice, even. How high was he, exactly? “Wait, what did I…?” Clicking on the email, bits and pieces come back to him, and he suddenly grabs the couch cushion next to him, holding onto it for dear life. “Oh my god, no.”

“What?”

“Rachel.” Kurt feels the blood draining from his face. “Oh, Jesus, please tell me I didn’t write that…”

He scrolls through the quoted email below Blaine’s short responses (Dear Kurt, thank you for telling me! And yes, of course! I’ll talk to Mme Tibideaux, and get back to you once I know more. Get well soon! All the best, Blaine, and the more recent Dear Kurt, I got a yes from Mme Tibideaux, you’re getting one more week! Best, Blaine) and cringes when he reads the first line.

“I did. Fuuuuuck. Oh god, now I wish Sondheim could kill me.”

“Again, the guy’s, like, 85…” Rachel says slowly. “And why would you- whoa, is that your email to Blaine?”

Kurt doesn’t answer, instead opting to hide his face in his hands.

“You did not tell him we call him Mr. Dreamboat.”

Kurt whimpers.

“You did not ask him out!” Rachel squeals.

Kurt lets out a miserable whine.

“Oh my god, Kurt, you did not tell him you like him and signed the email with a dozen kissing faces!!!”

“WHAT?!” Kurt’s hands fly back to his laptop. He didn’t re-read that part. “Oh my god! I ju- Rachel, I can never go back to that school. I’m such a failure at life, Jesus Christ.”

“You’re very religious all of a sudden.”

“Don’t just sit there mocking me,” Kurt begs. “Tell me it was all just a bad dream.”

Rachel gives him a look of deep, genuine pity. “I really wish I could but I doubt my eyes can never unsee that email. Also, I know you wrote that while you were high on pain meds but I am a bit upset you never told me you didn’t like Brody. Might have saved me some trouble.”

Kurt rolls his eyes at her. “You honestly believe I never brought it up? What do you think we were we having that flea-market chair argument for? And don’t even pretend like you would have called it off with him just because I said something.” Rachel opens her mouth to speak but Kurt shakes his head violently. “It doesn’t matter, anyway – what am I going to do about this?!”

Rachel shrugs. “Kurt, it’s out there. All you can do now is roll with it.”

“In my grave, you mean?”

“In class. To which we’re going tomorrow since you’re so much better already,” Rachel tells him sternly. “Judging by Mr. Dreamb-”

“We can’t call him that anymore,” Kurt says quickly.

“Fine.” She sighs. “Judging by Blaine’s reply, he’s not bothered by it. Who knows, maybe he’s flattered. Or happy about it. It’s not every day you get an email from a cute guy confessing he’s crushing on you.”

“Yeah, right,” Kurt mumbles into the sleeve of his sweater. “As if I stand a chance with him.”

“No time like the present to find out,” Rachel says with finality. “Now, I’m making you soup, and you’re going to put on some Sondheim so you can work on your paper with some fresh insights and maximum concentration.”

It’s a nice thought – but Kurt doesn’t get anything done that night.

Blaine carefully keeps his eyes on his notebook when Rachel and Kurt walk into his class.

He was expecting Kurt to come back today (and no, he did not google how long it takes for people to recover from wisdom teeth extraction – he just asked Sam, who had gotten it done right before moving to New York), and he might have put a little extra effort into looking good today. He never got a response from Kurt, so he figures the guy has either silently acknowledged the paper extension, avoided Blaine for a number of possible reasons or forgotten about the exchange entirely.

Whatever the motivation behind it, Blaine will not despair over it. He’s Kurt’s TA, and as such won’t try anything anyway. NYADA doesn’t seem to have any policy against TAs dating students but nevertheless, he doesn’t want to put either them in an awkward position.

Which doesn’t even take into account the fact that he still doesn’t know whether Kurt remembers asking him out, whether he actually meant it, or whether he intends to ask again.

He might want to wait until Blaine’s no longer his TA as well. That’s alright with Blaine. After all, there’s a month left to this semester, so he can wait. He totally can.

He looks up from his notebook with a smile.

“Hi everyone,” he greets the class. “How are you doing? So, the deadline for your papers is Friday so I hope you’ve all sent me your drafts in case you want me to read them.” He can’t help but let his eyes wander to where Kurt is sitting. “Unless there were any reasons to hand them in late.”

Kurt blinks really quickly at the sudden eye contact, and lets out a nervous laugh.

And Blaine realizes he really totally cannot wait a whole month to get answers to his questions.

Before he can stop himself, he adds, “Everyone with extensions on their papers, please come see me after class.”

Of course, that’s just Kurt, but the class won’t know. Okay, Rachel might know, seeing as she elbows Kurt so hard it almost sends him flying off his seat. Kurt almost doesn’t seem to notice it as he’s busy staring at Blaine with a bit of a twitch in his eye.

Blaine suppresses a groan. This isn’t the plan. What is he doing?

“Blaine, I am so sorry!” Kurt exclaims in misery when the rest of the students slip away after class is over.

He’s beyond glad that Blaine didn’t make him sing any of his pieces today because apart from already being nervous whenever Blaine does ask him to do that, today his anxiety probably would have been the final straw. He might have run off or broken out into tears in front of everyone.

Blaine looks at him with a small smile. “You’ve got nothing to apologize.”

“Uh, yes, I do,” Kurt says stubbornly. He’s beyond mortified; the least Blaine can do is let him apologize properly. “I really didn’t mean to-”

“Oh.” Blaine looks down on the pile of sheet music he was stacking. “Yeah, right. Uhm, seriously though, I know how bad pain killers can be, I don’t blame you for-”

“Oh thank god, you know it was the pain meds,” Kurt breathes out in relief. “I was afraid you’d think-”

“No worries,” Blaine cuts him off. “It’s alright if you didn’t mean any of it.”

Kurt hesitates for a second, and gulps as he takes in Blaine’s slightly shaky hand movement as he stuffs the sheet music into his messenger bag.

“If…?” he asks quietly.

“I mean that,” Blaine says, eyebrows furrowing slightly. “Sorry, that, of course.”

Kurt’s at a loss. He’s getting mixed signals, and just judging by the last bit of the exchange – if that was the only thing that had happened, his stupid email and the fact that Blaine is his freaking TA forgotten – he might even be encouraged to inquire further.

But he can’t just admit to meaning all of it, right?

He settles for the safer topic. “So you wanted to speak to me about my paper?” he asks.

“Uh, yes.” Blaine smiles, though he still looks distracted. “I just wanted to ask you whether you had any questions about the material since you couldn’t join us for the last two sessions.”

“I…” Kurt shakes his head. “No, I think I’ve got it covered. Rachel caught me up.”

“Alright. Well, if you have any questions, you can send me an email.”

“Or not,” Kurt says quickly. “I think I’m swearing off emails for a while.”

Blaine laughs, the sound warm and pleasant in Kurt’s ear.

“Right,” he says. “I know this is a bit awkward but… it could have been worse. You could have written that to Mme Tibideaux or Miss July.”

Kurt is so relieved that Blaine is able to joke about it that he replies with a mindless, “Yeah, except I wouldn’t have told them I liked them, so…”

Blaine gapes at him, and Kurt realizes a second to late what he’s implying yet again.

“Oh,” Blaine says. “I, uh-”

“I’ve got to go,” Kurt cuts in, ears burning. “Can I go?”

“Uh, uhm, well, yeah, of course,” Blaine stutters.

As Kurt turns around and gathers his stuff, he can hear Blaine mutter something to himself. Kurt’s almost out the door, when Blaine calls out, “Kurt?”

Kurt turns around gingerly. “Yeah?”

“I really didn’t mind.”

“Okay...”

“Like, really really.”

Kurt wants to scream, But what does that mean?! Instead, he takes a deep breath, collects his thoughts, and says, “Okay… see you in improv, I guess?”

Blaine nods quickly. “Yeah. Later, Kurt.”

“Later, Blaine.”

Blaine is early to improv class, even though it’s all the way across campus. But he didn’t stop for his usual coffee, grabbed a salad to-go instead of lunch with his friends from his dorm, and also maybe, possibly hurried to get to class because Kurt is usually early to everything.

Blaine is the first to arrive, though, so he grabs his usual seat and gets out his salad. He’s about to slice the egg when he hears Kurt’s voice from outside the classroom.

“Talk to you later, Rachel.”

“Okay. And, Kurt, remember to ask-”

“Bye now!”

As soon as Kurt’s through the door, his eyes land on Blaine and he freezes.

“Uh, hi,” he says. His cheeks are slightly red, probably from the cold weather outside. “You’re – uhm, early.”

“Yeah.” Blaine looks down briefly, willing himself to just go for it this time. “I wanted to talk to you.”

“Again?” Kurt bites his lip. “I thought-”

“Kurt, when I said yes in the email, I meant yes to both.”

“Both?” Kurt frowns. “I don’t-”

“Both questions. Or requests, I guess.”

Kurt’s eyes widen. “You mean…”

“Yeah, I mean,” Blaine says with as much conviction as possible. “At first, I didn’t want to say anything because, you know, TA and all, but… seeing you in class, knowing, or well, hoping that you meant it, and… I don’t know, I couldn’t wait those four weeks until the semester is over. So I asked you to stay after class but then that felt super shady, too, so… I don’t even really know what I’m doing right now.”

“Do you know what you’re saying, though?” Kurt asks breathlessly.

“Well…” Blaine can’t suppress a grin. “Unlike some people, I’m not on pain meds right now, so, yeah, I’m pretty sure I have full control over my words.”

Kurt glares at him but it’s mostly façade, especially considering he’s still looking like Christmas came a bit early this year, and Blaine… well, Blaine is floored at the thought of being the one to actually make him look like that.

“Well, apparently those pain meds at least made me confess something neither of us could admit to sober, so…”

“Hey, for the record,” Blaine says, getting up to stand in front of Kurt, “I fully intended to ask you out once the semester was over.”

Kurt’s eyes are locked on Blaine with sheer intensity, and Blaine isn’t proud to admit it makes his knees a bit weak.

“Really?” Kurt asks, clearly intrigued, then sighs. “So my email was completely unnecessary.”

“I wouldn’t say that,” Blaine says. “I got so many laughs out of it.”

“Oh god, shut up.”

“No, I mean, it – eggstension?” Blaine chuckles. “Wisdom teat? There were some good ones there.”

“What part of shut up-”

Waiting really isn’t Blaine’s strong suit, he realizes, as he leans in to kiss Kurt, four weeks too early to be completely professional, yet about half a year too late considering how long he’s had his eye on him.

Kurt’s protest is muffled against Blaine’s lips, and dies down completely once they press closer together to get better access. They part for air briefly, and Kurt whispers, “When I got up this morning, I would have sworn this would be the last thing I’d ever say, but I’m pretty proud of myself for writing that email now.��

Blaine licks his bottom lip, chasing the faint taste of Kurt there. “I’m glad you wrote it, too.” This whole thing between them has lasted about a minute but he wants more so badly he feels like he’s physically incapable from drawing Kurt back in and kissing him again.

They keep at it until other students start to trickle into the room, and even then they share meaningful glances and press their ankles together between their chairs.

Between all the talking and kissing, Blaine didn’t get to eat his salad, so about halfway through the lecture, his stomach starts growling.

Kurt turns to him with a grin. “Forgot to eat?”

“I guess I was distracted.”

“Hm, by what, I wonder?” Kurt asks cheekily.

Blaine eyes his untouched salad in amusement. “I guess I got pretty egg-sited over this boy I like.”

It’s totally worth all the frustrated elbowing he gets in response.

Chapter 1

“Here you go, one black coffee.”

“Thank you, Kuroo-san.” Akaashi took the steaming mug from Kuroo’s hand.

Kuroo slid onto the sofa across from Akaashi. He eyed the younger boy as he added sugar sachet into his coffee. “How do you even drink that thing? It’s blacker than my soul.”

The corner of Akaashi’s lips twitched slightly. “At least it’s sweeter.”

“Yeah?” Kuroo leered, “how’d you know that?”

“Usually I have high tolerance for bitterness, but I can’t tolerate being with you for more than necessary,” Akaashi retorted without missing a beat.

Kuroo snorted. “Smartass.”

For a moment, they fell into mutual silence as they both sipped their drinks. And it was not an uncomfortable one either. Despite the frequent banters and differences in their personalities, Kuroo actually enjoyed their time together. And it turned out that they have many things in common like music preferences and favorite movies.

It was Bokuto who introduced Akaashi to Kuroo. The boy had been so formal Kuroo had thought he was actually a sixty-year-old in disguise, a fine sixty-year-old with flawless skin, strong bone and pretty face. But hey, he had watched Orphan so who knew.

At first Kuroo couldn’t understand why Bokuto favored the kid he practically dragged him everywhere. But when he saw it firsthand how Akaashi handled Bokuto’s mood swing and dealing with his most ridiculous whines, it became crystal clear. His teammates even called him ‘The Owl Tamer’.

And one more thing that intrigued Kuroo was despite his formal and polite attitude, once Akaashi opened his mouth he spoke fluent sarcasm.

The three of them used to hang out together even outside match practice (four, if Kuroo could drag Kenma along). But since Bokuto moved abroad to continue his study in America, they rarely see each other anymore. He was surprised when Akaashi suddenly asked him to meet up.

Speaking of which…

“So,” Kuroo began, “The reason wh-”

He was interrupted by squall of teenage girls clustered on the corner of the café, two tables away from them.

“I know right! It was really scary. Was it a murder?” the one with ponytail asked her friends.

“No,” the one with pixy haircut, chimed in. “My friend in Fukurodani said that it was suicide case.”

At the mention of Fukurodani, Kuroo and Akaashi glanced at them.

“Is it really that hard to be a teacher?” squeaked the girl with glasses. Her timid face looked concern.

“Maybe he got other problems outside his job,” the pixie girl said. She rubbed the timid girl’s shoulder. “You’ll do just fine, Amy.”

Kuroo frowned. “Are they talking about your teacher?”

Akaashi nodded. “Akihito sensei.”

“I think I remembered it on the news.” With the hectic schedule of his college and new part time job, Kuroo didn’t really pay much attention on what’s on the news.

“Yeah it was everywhere.” A pause, “but after three days it was just gone.”

“What do you mean gone?”

“It was literally everywhere. Newspaper, TV, Radio, Internet. But suddenly, they just stopped reporting it.”

“Maybe they thought it was no longer interesting? You know how news works.”

Akaashi shook his head. “More like someone deliberately erased it from the media.”

Kuroo’s eyebrows shot upward. “Kid, I think you’ve watched too many conspiracy movies.”

Akaashi regarded him with narrow eyes.

“Okay,” Kuroo held up his hands, “so tell me about this mysterious teacher, was there anything wrong with him?”

“Not really,” Akaashi mused, “he was a chemistry teacher. I didn’t think he had any problem with the students, he was a good teacher. He was transferred to my school the same year I was accepted in Fukurodani. I didn’t really know him well enough, but I’m sure he didn’t look suicidal.”

“Well kid, who knows what’s on one’s mind.”

“Stop calling me ‘kid’, how old are you anyway?” Akaashi scowled.

Kuroo smirked. “So why did the police conclude it was a suicide case?” he asked instead.

“They found him hanged in his house.”

Kuroo frowned, “who found the body?”

“They didn’t say it on the news.”

“When was it?”

“The day Bokuto-san left.”

It was subtle, but Kuroo glimpsed a slight twitch on Akaashi’s fingers. The younger boy’s shoulders tensed. Kuroo gazed at him. Hard to tell through Akaashi’s stoic face, but he could sense that Akaashi was restless once Bokuto’s name was said.

“Akaashi,” Kuroo steepled his fingers together, “why did you ask to meet me?”

Akaashi’s eyes flicked away. His hand stirring his now cold black coffee. “Have you heard anything from Bokuto-san?”

“No,” a pause, “have you?”

“No,” Akaashi sighed. His shoulders drooped slowly.

Kuroo had never seen Akaashi so dejected, and it took him aback when there was a pang in his heart at the sight of Akaashi being so hopeless.

“But he did email me once.” Kuroo said finally.

Akaashi looked up, eyes wide. “Can I see it? Please?”

Kuroo pulled out his phone from his jeans pocket and opened the email app. He got the email a week ago. It was a brief message.

Bro, I broke my phone. Been busy here. Ill call u when I got new one.

That was the only interaction he got from Bokuto since he left.

He handed his phone to Akaashi.

Akaashi read the email once. Then read it again. And again.

“I tried to email him back,” Kuroo said, “but he never replied.”

Akaashi’s face fell and Kuroo mentally kicked himself. “Why didn’t he email me?”

“Maybe he’s really busy there,” Kuroo suggested lamely. “You know how hard it is to settle down in new environment.”

“This is not like Bokuto-san.”

“Hey,” Kuroo touched Akaashi’s hand, “give him some time, he’ll contact you sooner or later.”

Six months after that, there was only one more email Kuroo received since then. Different email address, but Bokuto attached his picture in it, a selfie of him in a dimly lit room. The wall behind him was yellowish dirty white, peeled off on some corners. There was a stainless steel table beside him, but nothing on it. Nothing to indicate exactly where he was.

Bokuto was wearing plain, rumple black shirt. His hair a bit longer and messily tousled like he just rolled out of bed. He did look tired. There were bags under his eyes and his cheekbones looked more prominent. But he smiled warmly to the camera.

The email was as brief as before:

Srrsly busy here, but im fine. Pls tell akaashi i miss him.

Kuroo tried to message him back countless time. Each message was harsher than the last.

Bo what have u been doing?

Dude, srrsly answer me!

Goddammit bokuto, if u rlly mean it tell akaashi yourself!

If u dont answer me, asshole, istg ill find ur ‘busy’ ass, kick the shit out of u, and drag u fucking home!

Bo, please answer me

Bokuto, I saw him cried. He really misses you. We really miss you.

All with no avail. Bokuto never messaged him back even once. In the end, Kuroo just gave up trying altogether.

And even though he hated it and how much he thought Bokuto didn’t deserve it, Kuroo let Akaashi kept the picture. Then he hated himself even more as he saw Akaashi’s heart crumbled over and over whenever he stared longingly at it.

Teaching in Korea

*hi quick edit to inform you guys that i’m inttentionally messing up the spelling of the capital city of korea with a capital I instead of L bc of a stalker issue sorry to anyone looking for info about the job search process*

So I’m writing this post because as I went through the whole process of finding a job in Korea and getting my visa, I found a lot of conflicting information or gaps. This is my experience with the job search/documents/visa process. I started my process mid 2016 (after I graduated), applied to recruiters December 2016, and found a job and began the visa process a few weeks later. I’m starting my job February 22ndish, 2017 so this information is from this time.

Hagwons vs public schools I did a lot of research on these two types of teaching positions. As far as I understand, public schools have fewer hours and slightly lower pay. Hagwons are private academies. Because of this, they’re not as strictly regulated and there are a lot of sketchy ones. However, I wanted to be in SeouI (since I’ve lived there before) and programs that place you with public schools don’t really give you much of a say in where you’re placed. SeouI jobs typically go to experienced teachers, which I am not. I did so much research to ensure I didn’t end up signing a contract with a sketch school (since I’m not there yet I’m still not sure haha fml). Some good resources I used are Dave’s ESL Cafe, hagwon green list, and hagwon black lists [1] [2].

Recruiters So as someone who wasn’t currently in Korea, the simplest(debatable) way to find a hagwon job is to go through a recruiter. Essentially, a recruiter is a middle man that sends your resume to schools that are hiring. They are free for us to use. They make their money from the schools by placing people with these schools, so do your research!!! A good recruiter won’t place teachers with shitty schools, but just check out the schools you schedule interviews with for yourself to be safe. And hope for the best :) There are so many schools, so it can be hard to find info. I took “it’s not on the blacklist” as good enough to schedule an interview even when I couldn’t find info from any previous teachers. Now let me talk about my own experience with recruiters. Different recruiters have relationships with different hagwons, so apply to more than one. I did a lot of research on recruiters and ended up applying to SeouIESL, Adventure Teaching, and SayKimchi. I also thought Dreamworks Recruiting and Park English seemed decent, but I never got around to sending them my applications because I suck haha. Now I’ll talk about my experiences with each recruiter I applied to: SayKimchi: I never heard back from them. Ever. Whatever. Adventure: They seemed friendly when I spoke to them, but they were SO SLOW. I scheduled an interview with them and they canceled day of, so the process got delayed a week. I was aiming for March start dates and, because they took so long (despite them being first to contact me after I applied), they said they wouldn’t be able to place me until April or May. Then, they asked me to send all of my original documents to their office in Korea, which essentially makes it impossible for you to use another recruiter. If you’re 100% set on using just them, I suppose it would just speed up the process, but….. Funny enough, a week-ish after hearing nothing from me after requesting my docs they said they changed their policy and didn’t require docs sent until a contract was signed. I’m still not entirely sure if they really did have a policy change or if they were trying to dupe me into only being able to use them and changed course when I didn’t comply. My friend taught through them and her experience was just okay. One positive(?) is that they are based in Canada so the time difference is less extreme for me and they’re all native English speakers. Their website and emails are also laid out well compared to many others. SeouIESL: This is the recruiter I ended up using. Overall, my experience was positive. I was emailing with someone named Carolyn and she was very quick at responding and friendly. When I was scheduling interviews, if I emailed her during work hours I would often have a response within five minutes. Since I was super free at the time, I would set up interviews at 4:30pm my time (9:30am in SeouI) and do them at 7pm my time. Very fast. Their initial email actually got sorted into my spam(watch out for that, I guess) so I got in touch with them like a week late, but they scheduled my interviews lightening fast. She would send me a list of schools and their info and I could tell her which ones I wanted to apply to, and if they wanted an interview she would set it up quickly. She sent the info about the different stages at they came, so I was a little stressed. (ex: signed my contract and sent my docs, but had no idea how or when my flight would be booked until I knew exactly when my visa would be ready). Based on my experience, I would recommend them. They were fast, efficient, didn’t push me into anything, and were very accommodating of my desire to apply to jobs in SeouI.

I did two interviews. The first school had a very good reputation, but I didn’t get offered a contract. I must have been so awkward because I was so nervous. The second school offered my a contract and I took it. There wasn’t as much info about the school, but I still liked it better than others I sent my resume to. I hope I’m right :)))) I will update on how it goes later!

Documents: So many documents. First off, I’m a US citizen (specifically California) and the document requirements vary slightly by country. After I had signed a contract, my recruited had me send the following documents so the school could apply for my visa:

Apostilled FBI background check

Apostilled diploma

copy of passport

4 passport photos on light background

hard copy of resume

original contract, signed

health statement (a form she sent me)

E2 visa confirmation number application form (also sent to me)

These are mostly easy, but I have a little guidance on two items. Apostilled FBI background check: First off, you need to download the relevant forms. There are other guides on where and what you need exactly so I won’t get into detail :) You also need to be fingerprinted. I did this at one of my local police stations. One thing to keep in mind is that the background checks takes sooooo long. 3-4 months. It really put off my timeline because again, I suck and I procrastinate. Once you get it back, you’re still not done! You need to send it to get apostilled. And this is where I messed up again! There was some conflicting info online about where to send it. I argued with my mom, she won, and we ended up sending it to the California Department of State since I had to send my diploma there as well. WRONG!! IT MUST BE APOSTILLED IN WASHINGTON DC. DC. DC!!!! It’s a federal document, so it needs a federal apostille, not a state one. My recruiter told me that in the past, Korea accepted state apostilles, but not anymore. Don’t be dumb like me! Send it to DC! This takes another few weeks, so be prepared. You can expedite either of these processes by sending them through a legit expediter, but they cost money. If you’re in a hurry, it’s very worth it, but if you plan ahead it’s not necessary. Apostilled diploma: So to apostille a copy of your diploma (because plsss don’t send them your real one you’ll never get it back), you need to first notarize it. I went to my bank for that. The first employee said California notaries can’t notarize documents, only signatures. She also wanted to charge me :’D The second one said no problemo and did it for free! I can’t remember the name of the type of notarization, but it was something like I verify that it’s a real copy and she notarized that. Next, send it in to get apostilled. One important note is that is needs to be apostilled in the same state it was notarized in. There are also other guides for this out there if you’d like more details. :)

After you gather all of these and sign a contract, you send them off to Korea. Your school applies for your visa and you wait for your visa number. This can take around 2 weeks. Mine took a week and a half.

Visa The last thing you need to do is get your visa! I live within driving distance of the Korean consulate, so I went and walked everything in. I’m not sure how you would do it if you can’t take them in yourself, sorry~ After I got my visa number, I took the following forms to the Korean consulate:

visa application form (sent to me by recruiter)

1 passport photo on light background

original passport

copy of passport

visa processing fee (my consulate only accepts cash, so check!)

visa confirmation number

Some consulates may require more documents, such as bank statements, so make sure you check that too! I waited an eternity for my turn, gave all the relevant documents to the employee, waited another eternity for her to check everything, and then was told my visa (and passport) would be ready to be picked up in a week.

And that’s it! I picked up my visa on the specified day (much quicker than submitting the docs) and I was done!

my car insurance quote has just arrived, the price has gone up by 80 from last year the year before it went up 20. I suppose it was the all the snow we had which caused extra claims. but I have never made a claim in the last 15 years and that was when someone ran into me. why should we keep having to pay for these mindless idiots who cause these increases, why cannot insurance companies talk to each other and triple or quadruple persistent offenders untill they have gone without a claim for 3 years instead of keep hiking up the insurance of careful drivers. well this is the last straw for me.I am selling my car, a stripey punto 2 years old with 4,000 miles on the clock. what should I get for it.
