that one post going around blaming people for "liking" posts without reblogging them for "upsetting artists and writers" or whatever and presenting That One Artist Who Reblogs the Post 20 Times a Day as a sympathetic person we've all collectively made miserable, my be-loathed.

every time i see another "if you LIKE a post without reblogging, you're making artists miserable and driving them to depression and they'll leave and you're why we can't have nice things" post, i put off loading and tagging my queue another day and the fewer pieces of artwork i interact with in general.

you can explain how tumblr works and encourage people to reblog things without being a fucking dick about it.

Your personal triggers and squicks do not get to determine what kind of art other people make.

People make shit. It's what we do. We make shit to explore, to inspire, to explain, to understand, but also to cope, to process, to educate, to warn, to go, "hey, wouldn't that be fucked up? Wild, right?"

Yes, sure, there are things that should be handled with care if they are used at all. But plenty more things are subjective. Some things are just not going to be to your tastes. So go find something that is to your tastes and stop worrying so much about what other people are doing and trying to dictate universal moral precepts about art based on your personal triggers and squicks.

I find possession stories super fucking triggering if I encounter them without warning, especially if they function as a sexual abuse metaphor. I'm not over here campaigning for every horror artist to stop writing possession stories because they make me feel shaky and dissociated. I just check Does The Dog Die before watching certain genres, and I have my husband or roommate preview anything I think might upset me so they can give me more detail. And if I genuinely don't think I can't handle it, I don't watch it. It's that simple.

MEIGS COUNTY, Tenn. -- The body of a Tennessee deputy was found Thursday after he went missing following his first-ever arrest. His patrol vehicle and the body of the woman he arrested were also recovered from a river, authorities said.

Multiple agencies will investigate how the vehicle ended up in the water. However, Johnson noted that the deputy, a native of New York, appeared to be texting and radioing while driving in a poorly lit area he was unfamiliar with.

"We're operating under the theory that it was an accident -- he missed his turn, he wasn't familiar and he was doing other things that may have caused him to go into the water," Johnson said at the Thursday afternoon press briefing.

it is not the product of thoughtful creation. it offers no insights into the creator's life or viewpoint. it has no connection to a moment in time or a place or an attitude. it has no perspective. it has no value.

it's empty, it's hollow, and it exists only to generate clicks (and by extension, ad revenue.)
