Thanks for the ask! For my five:

The Saint’s Blade is definitely my favourite fic, and one of my favourite things I’ve written overall. A series of interconnected stories about Sophia Hess going into another world which worships Worm capes as gods – becoming a paladin – and falling in love in the process. The opportunity to world-build was wonderfully fun, the OC cast great to work with, and it gave an interesting chance to play with Soph’s character to boot.

No Greater Love is the other longer fic from my more recent Worm stuff which I’m proud of, where Taylor gets dropped into a universe where her alter-ego is a Ward, dating Shadow Stalker…and has just been killed in action. I particularly enjoyed writing the aftermath of Taylor’s death in the first chapter, tackling it from three different perspectives – the casualty notification officer, her mom, and her girlfriend – and exploring the nuances as a result.

While I really enjoy a lot of my Legend of Korra and ATLA fic, Kuvira’s Diary in the Advance to Ba Sing Se, 171 AG is one I particularly liked writing. As the title suggests, it is verbatim Kuvira’s diary from the point of leaving Zaofu to her securing Ba Sing Se and being empowered by the other nations to re-unify the Earth Kingdom. Writing an early, not-jaded Kuvira was great fun – particularly as I was able to sow the seeds of what she later became throughout – while the worldbuilding of the Earth Kingdom sinking into anarchy and depredation was an enjoyable exercise.

Balestra, co-written with the wonderful maroon_sweater, was unquestionably the most fun I’ve ever had writing a fanfic. In premise, it was an epistolary enemies to lovers romance inspired by This Is How You Lose The Time War. In execution, it was her and I writing each other condescending hate mail on a daily basis for a month – really quite fantastic. This is only uplifted by the fact that Roon is an incredibly talented writer, deeply and dryly witty in a way which never ceases to impress; trying to keep up with her alone was an engaging challenge.

When We Are Dust, my collection of Worm WW1 AU snippets, is a fic I often go back to read – especially ‘All His Evermore’, about General Hana Kochar of the Kurdish Republic, ‘Inherent to Circumstance’ about Shatterbird, leader of the Arab Revolt, and ‘Et Decorum Est’ about Captain Dean Stansfield in Craiglockhart mental hospital. Translating the characters into the historical setting was an engaging challenge, and the AU fit my penchant for both military detail and big emotional moments. I’m also proud of the writing; the last line, in particular – ‘As for the dead? They remain, fixed and unmoving down the centuries. Like stars, when we are dust.’

A/N: Its poetry-like, not my favorite work but it was in AO3 since last year and I want to do a cross-share, so let's put our insecurities aside babes *cut the camera to me crying in my bed*

Kuvira didn't betrayed Baatar Jr.

She didn't cared if he died at that point.

He was not who she wanted to be with.

It was never him.

Your hands running through her hair. Your soft lips humming a lovely song. Your chest raising and falling slowly under her touch.

You.

You were the one she truly loved.

The one she fought for and run to your arms when everything was too much.

The one that never gave up on her even when she was in her darkest moments.

Moments that led to decisions that Kuvira regret deeply till nowadays.

Because you're dead, and although her flesh and bones stayed together, tied up in hard leashes to prevent her from running away because she had to pay for all the pain she caused.

They didn't knew that this wasn't necessary.

She was already suffering enough.

Breathing in and out all the suffering.

Breathing in and out all the love she couldn't give.

Breathing in and out your scent that was only now memories.

Painfully breathing in and out that she was the reason for why you weren't there.

It was burning from the inside out, her heart ached, and her eyes were far from that place.

She was trapped in a different prison.

A prison that she knew that the only way out was to end her own life, so she could finally. FINALLY. Be with you again.

Fear was never an emotion present in her life, but you? Oh fuck you, you brought her together again, you glued piece by piece of her, making her feel entire again.

Breath Kuvira.

Breath and suffer.

Suffer all the pain your lover suffered when you hit that ray on her.

Breath and suffer reminding yourself every day of the images, the memories, of her face totally unrecognizable, melting with the succumbs of what was once a building.

Suffer and remind again, that the only part of her that was recognizable was her hands, holding tight, even after death, the ring you gave her days before you killed her.

You must pay. They say.

You must pay for the pain you caused to the citizens.

And she will, till her last moment, remember you.

Azula is not ticklish in the slightest. More importantly, her s/o’s very brave for even trying to tickle her.

Definitely doesn’t appreciate being “tickled” in public or when there are people around. She’s got a reputation to uphold.

Might tickle her s/o back. If her s/o’s particularly ticklish, she’ll use it as a form of light punishment.

All in all though, I don't see Azula as someone who's really into those forms of affection, either giving or receiving.

Ty Lee is ticklish and loves being tickled!

Light teasing is one of her favourite methods of displaying affection; both giving and receiving.

Her s/o had better be ready to be tickled in return. As soon as one of them so much as pokes the other one in a ticklish spot, it's an all out tickle war.

Some of Ty Lee's ticklish spots are her underarms, the palms of her hands, and her neck.

Mai's not super ticklish but she has her weak spots. She's just really good at hiding them. She does have a reputation to maintain after all…

When she does let her guard down, she has the most explosive laughter. She finds it a bit embarrassing so she does her best to hide it.

Mai's ticklish spots include a spot just behind her ears and the backs of her knees.

She likely won't tickle her s/o back but as long as they're in private, she won't mind if her s/o tickles her.

Kuvira's another one who's not super ticklish. It's not that she tries to hide it, she just doesn't have any spots that bring her undone.

Much like Azula and Mai, she's got a reputation to uphold and would appreciate it if her s/o kept their tickling attemps to private situations.

I think pre-season 4 Kuvira would tickle her s/o back. She thinks it's fun, especially if her s/o is particularly ticklish.

When she's trying to build the Earth Empire though, she becomes more serious.

Eska is ticklish but in weird places.

If her s/o tries to tickle the usual spots, like her underarms or sides, they will get no reaction.

But as soon as they even reach for Eska's shoulder blades or the crown of her head, she's flinching away and holding back a laugh.

Her s/o would have to be brave to try tickling her though. She's pretty good in a tickle war due to growing up with a twin.

I'm not sure I asked this before but for each, Korvira and Kuvirasami, how would each spend each other's birthdays? Can be from "Choices" or "Path" series, or in general? 💙💚❤️🥳🥳🥳

Okay, let's do this! So, how would the characters celebrate birthdays? These are general headcanons for the most part.

Korra:

Birthdays were one of the events that allowed Korra time-off from training at the White Lotus compound. While maintaining tight security measures as precaution, Korra would celebrate her special day in the company of her parents and the community as they joined on an evening of song and dance around a fire, and a hearty dinner featuring the birthday girl's favorite dishes to round the celebration. Korra might no longer spend her birthdays at the South Pole but she has managed to recreate the tradition with her extended family at Air Temple Island in the company of Tenzin and the rest of the Air Nomad family and of course, with newcomer Kuvira surprised everyone and especially Korra demonstrating her artistic sensibilities by quickly learning the traditional dance from Kya.

Kuvira:

Birthdays were for a long time a touchy subject for Kuvira, given that she could barely remember how she spent them with her biological family. After she was taken in by the Beifongs, When Suyin realized the little girl wasn't sure when her birthday was, decided that instead of her birthday, they would celebrate the day she joined the Beifong clan. For Kuvira, the change of date was bittersweet reminder of her status as an abandoned child, and it took years until she was able to shed the melancholy of her situation and genuinely feel grateful and hopeful. Although Su favored big and bombastic celebrations for her children, Kuvira preferred small and intimate among friends instead of big and loud celebrations and thoughtful presents which reflected the personal touch of the giver instead of extravagant and expensive gifts, something that both Korra and Asami learned and used to their advantage to come up with creative and insightful details for Kuvira which appeal to her pragmatic, practical side, except the polar bear pup plushie from Korra (The Path). That totally appealed to her inner kid. Or the deluxe hardcover detective novels collection from Asami (Choices) because she's a sucker for those. 😂

Asami:

Since she was a child, Asami learned to favor building pleasant memories over amassing material things, a lesson she learned from her mom, Yasuko, and her loss just drove the point home. That's why she prefers to spend her special day surrounded by her friends and loved ones, sharing moments and having fun. Whether it is relaxing at the Sato mansion pool or a beach day or racing her custom racecar at her private track or a picnic for three (Asami, Kuvira, and Ying) what it matters for Asami is forging happy memories that will last a lifetime. She has a special ritual she has kept throughout the years. Before starting the festivities, Asami always takes a moment to remember her mom at the family shrine she has at the mansion, and after marrying Kuvira, in the new family shrine her wife had prepared at the palace in Ba Sing Se, with the miniature model of the main building of Future Industries that she designed and built with Yasuko displayed prominently.

Fair warning, I do not read much Fanfic anymore as I spend most of my time writing it, so some of these fics are probably going to feel really scattered. With that said, let’s get into it.

LIGHTCANNON (Lux/Jinx)

Non-Linear Growth by @booking-and-blogging (Elfen1012 on Ao3)

A lot of people reading my work have said that Flashbangs is the Lightcannon bible, but if that’s true then NLG by Elfen1012 is the Lightcannon New Testament. It hits the ground running from the perspective of a Jinx that is trying to piece herself back together after the end of Arcane and it is something to behold. I cannot recommend this enough.

Luxurious Anarchy by @cannibalelf (Cannibal_Elf on Ao3)

A kind of Soulmate-lite longform fic in which Lux is drawn across the span of Valoran to find her one-and-only: Jinx, mad and still struggling with the events of Arcane. This is just a really fantastic romp through the world of Piltover and Zaun, thoroughly enjoyable on every level. The prose are punchy, the narrative is clean, and I really enjoyed my time with it.

Friction Coefficient by @blood-lich-crow ( Blood_Lich_Maeve on Ao3)

I would argue this is probably the best Modern!AU Lightcannon on Ao3 right now, at least in my very subjective opinion. It gracefully deals with a lot of delicate topics like internalized (and external) homophobia and transphobia, trans issues, and addiction. This is one of the messiest romances I’ve ever read and I am here for it. 

PISTOLWHIP (Caitlyn/Jinx)

the lover of my impossible soul by Goldfyshie927 on Ao3

This Modern!AU features Caitlyn as a professional escort who is drawn into a relationship with the wealthy and chaotic Jinx in order to keep her father happy and convince him she had mellowed out somewhat. The profound sense of loneliness you get from both characters throughout the story, and the way they inelegantly mesh together is really profound, and I look forward to seeing more of this story come out. Big recommendation for very unusual ship.

SYLVAINA (Sylvanas/Jaina)

Vintage by (jointly) @redisaid and @uninspired--poet

How do I put this. To date, I’ve read the entirety of Vintage six times. Vintage isn’t just a fanfiction I think is good. Vintage is one of the fanfictions I go back reread every now and again to remind myself what willful romance is supposed to look like. In this Modern!AU where Jaina is a college student and scion of a wealthy family, while Sylvanas is the owner of a small, failing vintage goods shop in New York. It’s a story about falling in love and then choosing to stay that way despite the many things that crop up. It’s about coming up against the difficulties in relationships and choosing love, with all its messy difficulties, over the path of least resistance. Read this, I am begging you.

Fearless by @redisaid

This might be the best example of modern magic I’ve ever read. It’s as subtle as it is overt, and as entrenched a part of the world as it is wholly separate from it. Jaina, a ghost-eating witch, finds a house haunted by a powerful banshee, and fully intends to consume her for power. Over the course of the story, that changes, and everything from the side characters, to the small moments, to the strong finish has stuck with me to the point that it inspires aspects of my own writing.

Within The Drift by @uninspired--poet

It’s hard to do a good crossover, even when the crossover’s make a kind of thematic sense. Writing a good crossover when the two subjects have jack shit in common is testament to a great author’s skill. Within The Drift is a fantastically put together sci-fi/fantasy action-romance crossing over Pacific Rim with World of Warcraft, featuring Sylvanas and Jaina as contentiously drift compatible pilots. I’ve read this story back to front several times, and it never gets old.

KAZULA (Azula/Katara)

Measure Each Step to Infinity by paxbanana

Set in Post-Canon ATLA, Measure is fantastic enemies-to-lovers-to-wives story full of angst, intrigue, action, and redemption. It has one of my favorite depictions of Azula and, surprisingly, Aang, which the story humanizes wonderfully. Azula is as morally gray as ever, and her struggle to leave behind the horrors of war and emotional abuse inflicted on her by her father to be better, and Katara’s growing dedication and devotion to her over the course of the story is gripping.

KORVIRA (Korra/Kuvira)

Phenomenal Modern!AU Kuvira fic and I will shamelessly plug this because I love a good bartender character. Kuvira and Korra instantly charm in the first chapter, and their friendship blossoms into a lot more. This is a story that’s impossible to summarize without spoilers, but it is an absolute rollercoaster of emotions, drama, angst, and disaster gays from start to finish and you’d be doing yourself a favor by reading it.

PILTOVER’S FINEST (Caitlyn/Vi)

Run At The Cup. by @thehomelybadger (TheHomelyBadger on Ao3)

I’ve reviewed this story before on this very blog so I really feel it’s necessary to have it here. I don’t read a lot of CaitVi but this one absolutely knocks it out of the park. Or rather, into the goal. Run At The Cup is a Hockey!AU, it’s a fantastic underdog story of a brand-new NHL team, the Zaun Sumprats, and it’s mix of sports jargon, action-packed hockey games, and interpersonal and political drama make for an absolutely gripping story.

Kuvira:- You ready to hit the road Kiddo?

Korra:- (twisting her fingers together, looking nervous) I. I think so.

Kuvira:- (ruffling her baby sister's hair) Come on Kiddo, Mum and Baba are already driving, we should get going.

The two sisters left the unusually quiet mansion and got into Kuvira's fully packed out land rover.

Korra's first choice.

The Beifong family was moving Korra into her dorm room.

Lin:- Jeez kid. We brought you WAYYYY too many supplies.

Kya:- Come on Lin. You know we both wanted our little girl to be prepared. (As she made Korra's bed).

Lin:- (carrying in yet another box marked 'school supplies' snorted) Yeah. But I wasn't expecting six boxes of notebooks and pens.

Kuvira:- (whining, carrying yet another box in) my back hurts.

Korra:- (snorting) has the United forces made you soft sis?

Kuvira:- (dropped the box of clothes and picked the teen up and threw her over her shoulder) You were saying squirt?

Korra:- AAAAAGGGGHHHHHH! Put me down you overgrown pen pusher.

Kya:- Kuvira. Don't break your sister.

Lin:- Korra. Don't poke the bear.

5 hours later.

Lin:- Okay Pookie, we've got to go now.

Korra fort to keep the tears away as she hugged her parents and sister goodbye.

Kya:- (whispered to Korra) look in the box on your bed when we're gone.

Korra nodded into her mother's shoulder.

Korra:- (Hugging everyone in turn next to Lin's car) Love you Mummy. Love you Baba. Love you Kuvy.

Lin:- We love you too Pookie. Now. Hold out your hand.

Korra raised her eyebrow and held her hand out.

Lin placed a set of keys in Korra's hand.

Korra:- (blankly) car keys?

Kya nodded and pointed to the student car park where a light blue Honda Jazz was parked.

Korra:- Is that for me?

Lin:- Yes.

Kya:-(smiled) Suprise baby.

Kuvira:- Try not to right it off in the first week captain ADHD.

Korra did a happy dance with her new car keys.

Lin:- (snatched the keys back) Car rules. Take your medication before you drive. No drinking and driving. No texting and driving. No friends in the car. No speeding.

Korra:- (Pouting up at Lin). Anything else?

Lin:- Yeah. I'll be checking the traffic reports for this area weekly. If I see your name or number plate on any of those reports, and I'm coming straight down here and taking that car away. Do you understand?

Korra:- (Nervously) Yes Baba.

Korra was getting ready for bed. Her family had left a few hours ago. She'd worked out, ate in the canteen, made a few hopeful new friends, showered and was now getting into her pajamas.

She paused when she approached her bed. She had forgotten about the box Kya had left her.

She opened the shoe box to see a framed photo of her entire family at her's and Opal's uni leaving party. A letter from her mothers reminding her to call often and eat enough. And .......

Korra:- (whispered as she reached a trembling hand into the box) Naga ?

Korra's childhood toy and best friend was sat at the bottom of the box, there was a note attached around her neck.

Just incase. Love Mummy and Baba.

Korra hugged her toy close as she fell asleep.

Uni was the next big step in her life, but with Naga with her. Korra knew she could do it all.
