I actually didn't even bother watching the second season of Loki because of the cheap marketing and inconsistent storytelling.

It just felt like the plot was lifted off somewhere it would have made sense, and a character with a similar ego was replaced with Loki and goes through an arc that might have made sense for a blank slate character, but not someone who already has a backstory.

Loki doesn't even feel like Loki after three episodes in S1. The whole point of having a show like that just seems to be about the TVA and Sylvie.

Also the whole genderfluid thing. They 'confirmed' it in the promo and had a line in the script that went completely against anything they just said.

I knew at once that the writers, directors and other parts of production were really just pulling it in different directions and it would probably sound like a jazz trumpeter and a metal guitarist trying to improvise after knowing each other for 15 minutes.

I've been meaning to watch it just so I can have educated opinions on all of it but it's just,, so hard to get into. I definitely agree the marketing was cheap, they did with the 80s McDonald's like they did DB Cooper!Loki and made it centric to the advertising because McDonalds was also getting something out of it which is kinda ass seeing as realistically Loki Laufeyson would burn 6 of them down before he ate in one 😭

I personally don't like either of the major ships in the show but the forced Sylki shit in season 1 really got to me. Like not only did she completely replace him as the main character in HIS show, she's also a variant of him who he wants to make out with and overall it just reads as lazy writing and it's extremely disappointing that Mike Waldron has been put in charge of Multiverse of Madness and The Kang Dynasty since, due to the popularity of the Loki TV show. I was talking to my boyfriend about this last night but it kinda reminds me of the complaints people had ab the last Indiana Jones movie but opposite? Like everyone complained his best friend's daughter was gonna replace him bc she's a Mary Sue and she rlly isnt, she's more reminiscent of Marion in Raiders of the Lost Ark she just doesn't wanna fuck him. But the difference is Indy is a character who's majorly blank for little boys to project themselves onto. Which is great!! It works for those kind of movies, but they're not character development centric like the individual mcu movies tend to be. Loki is characterized in a way that he's drowning in identity issues and family problems and he experiences growth in every installment whether it be positive or negative. It doesn't make sense to take the formula of an Indidna Jones movie where he meets up with a woman who's typically a love interest and has her own issues that are only slightly touched on because that's not the focus, and they go do the plot.

Sylvie is not an Indy Girl, they straight up are trying to replace Loki with Sylvie. And you can tell the character wasn't supposed to have as much importance as she does in the show bc the character was worked on more after the actress they chose was buddies with a producer ( and this is no hate to the actress I'm sure she's delightful everything I've seen her in in terms of interviews has been lovely ).

I also absolutely agree they should've just made a tva mini series to introduce the tva rather than bringing back a dead character who soon will not make much sense anyway because Tom Hiddleston is getting older (and also he deserves to branch out in his career).

The genderfluid thing was a cash grab and it sucks ass, they just want money for acknowledging things already canon in the comics, same with confirming him as bisexual.

My boyfriend is actually writing a fic on ao3 called Find Me that's rlly good if you want Loki content that isn't related to the show.

(YES this is shameless promotion sshhhhshshsh) but fr the loki TV show makes me more confident in my screenwriting bc t h a t got put on disney plus. I'm also working on a Loki show rewrite in my spare time!!

So I didn't watch episode 4

I wanted to finish and post my fic before I watched it, because I tried to tie up some plot threads that were established in episode 3, and I know (because it's happened in the past) that if I watch the episode and they go in a different direction with those plot threads, I won't finish or post my fic.

So, given how long it is, I didn't finish writing it until about 8:30, revising until 11 or so, and posting until 11:30. And I had work today, and while my boss is having me work remotely until the last day of my two weeks now, I still had to get up fairly early. So no episode for me, and no incoherent thoughts post today. And I'm going out of town this weekend, so I can't watch until Sunday or Monday. So I've got this for you instead:

I saw some discourse about whether or not Sigyn was a tradwife and I jokingly thought that if anyone in their relationship would be any sort of "tradwife"...it would be Loki (prolly in a kinky way...but that's a different post on a different site lol). I'd also been doing some reading about the "victory" part of Sigyn's name and it inspired an idea for a version of her that's a retired Valkyrie. Since you said I could come into your inbox and talk about fandom stuff, here I am! I just wanted to mention an in idea I've had. Idk if you like Sigyn/Logyn but I was thinking, what if Sigyn existed in the MCU and her and Loki were married before the events of Thor 1 but she died? Except she isn't really dead, she was banished by Odin because he heard a prophecy that she would cause Loki to turn against him. But Loki suspects his father had something to do with Sigyn's disappearance, so obviously Loki starts to feel resentment towards Odin, which leads to the events of Thor 1 happening. And then after TDW, Loki finds out the truth and goes to find Sigyn. Maybe it's not really interesting, but I just wanted to mention it to someone.

In my post-Thor 2 fic, which (as anyone looking at my blog might already know) I love dearly, I do introduce Sigyn.

My interpretation of her is that she is the daughter of a skilled bladesmith and, one day, Loki goes to commission himself a dagger (as he wants to try the smiths' work outside of the palace). They meet again after Thor's coronation when Loki leaves to go to the city in hopes to get away from the busy crowds.

They begin dating and she eventually moves in with him to the palace. Loki gets the word about her family's business into the palace and her father's shop starts getting more traction until, eventually, he gets offered a job working for the royal army.

I actual have a moodboard on my version of Sigyn (here)

(The fic itself is about other characters equally, and focuses of the story as a sequel. Going in depth with the setting in Asgard)

FINALLY someone says it. I know they're not a huge subset of fans in the grand scheme of things but my god I feel the same way. Esp the ones who bash Sylki (and I don't even like that ship personally), and draw comparisons between Sylvie and the Sigyn they made up in their heads. The way a lot of them portray her always just comes off as sort of misogynistic and tradwife-y. I don't have a problem with the ones who ship and let ship + I know they're not all like That ofc.

And they act like the myths and Marvel and the MCU are the same thing when they're all ENTIRELY DIFFERENT! For people that complain so much about how Loki is actually "Larry the clown" now, how the fuck do they not get through their heads that Marvel comics are loose adaptations of the myths and the MCU is a loose adaptation of Marvel comics!?

And yea they veer towards very trad-wifey... like one I blocked constantly goes off about how "Marvel's Sygin actually has a personality, look at her calling Lorelei a slattern and being happy that Amora is being forcefully given to a brutish giant. SO FEISTY." Yeah, cus slut-shaming and wishing harm on another woman is quirky... And obnoxiously ALWAYS ends her posts with some badly drawn Logyn gif and overuses emoticons.

And constantly praising her "noble" act of staying with the man that killed her fiance and tricked her into marriage DESPITE Odin and the rest of Asgard wanting to annull the marriage. Like who the fuck does that? And that's not praise-worthy behavior. She was written by cishet white men in the late 70s and the 80s as a ridiculously waify prop to show how evil Loki was.

But apparently Sylvie, who is dressed for practicality and has a motivation of her own, is the "misogynistic" stereotype and she should have set up aside her mission to fawn over some guy she just met. Series antis complain about the pacing (I do have complaints about that too because 6 episodes is a little too fast), but then act like the appropriate behavior would be for Sylvie to set her motivations aside.

Like I am fine with Marvel Logyn shippers if they don't insist EVERYONE ELSE must follow some very monogamous re-interpretation of Loki and get through their heads the concept of "loosely based". Myth!Loki spent 8 winters as a woman on Earth birthing children! There was also Angrboda. A lot of the norse gods had mistresses, including Thor and Odin...

Last I heard they were throwing fits over Wanda/Loki from Scarlet Witch #8 (Even though it didn't happen in the end :'( ). And some were complaining about the loosely-based high school AU norse mythology Netflix series Ragnarok having Balder/Loki as endgame. Which comes off kinda homophobic too...

I'm going to work on updating this blog a little. Granted I'm currently still stuck away in a motel and trying to recover, so my photoshop skills will still have to wait, but this blog will be getting an upgrade! In other news... I know I've been posting some Anti Loki Series, Anti Sylvie and Anti Sylki things on here, but as admin of this blog, I'm allowed to have my opinion too. Now, I'm definetly not into ship-bashing or bashing others for liking ships I don't like. Everyone is entitled to like or don't like things, but I think I can speak for the Logyn & Sigyn fandom who only keeps getting bashed on by trolls and haters through confessions and anon hate. I'll address this issue in a separate post later on, but I don't want these people to scare some out of our small little fandom. We already struggle enough as is. So when I get this blog updated, I'm going to start kicking up topic debates, polls, edits, and more once again. :)

Sigyn's burden: Loki's true form

In one of my previous posts, the one about the size difference between Loki i Sigyn, I’ve mentioned that the latter is pretty tall for an Aesir, thanks to being half-giant. What also gives away his Jotunheim origin are his eyes, which are light blue with vertical, cat-like pupils. The former is a trait characteristic to giants and Loki can’t hide it no matter what form he takes.

In that post I’ve also sorta hinted at that the form he is usually presenting himself as isn’t really his true one. Well, as you can see on the picture, the true one is even higher (circa 7 meters tall) and looks much different and monstrous. Unlike Thor, who seemingly took most of his looks from Odin, Loki turned out to be somewhere halfway between his parents with traits of a Albino: bright hair, aforementioned blue eyes, patchwork looking skin mixing the pale one of an Aesir and grayish blue of a giant, sharp fangs peeking from his lips and despite being fully grown, Loki is much shorter than his father, with thin long limbs. Loki’s true form also carries all the scars and other traces of past injuries he was able to hide with his shapeshifting.

The scene in this picture supposedly takes place shortly after Sigyn has discovered Loki’s true form. She was aware of it before, but understood that her (still then) friend wasn’t comfortable showing it, afraid of being shunned.

Much to Loki's utter shock, when Sigyn finally discovered his secret, she wasn’t scared beyond anything words can describe, but rather fascinated by his odd and scarred appearance (not in a kinky way!).

Soon, whenever they were traveling alone, Sigyn would sit in deep pockets Loki sewed on his clothes just for her and even started wearing earrings so she could hold onto something while sitting on his shoulder.

That whole headcanon was inspired by works of GTluv on DeviantArt who made some pretty Logyn pictures, mostly with Loki being an actual giant. I honestly think more mainstream media should also explore this idea, even if there is evidence that jotnar weren’t necessarily huge in size.

As for the picture itself, to lor it I used  brush markers that came in cold gray, warm gray and skin tone sets.
