19. Do you enjoy creating OCs or do you prefer to stick solely to canon characters? I don't create OCs just for the fun of it, but I have for my original work (and thank you for asking about them). The ones that have been with me the longest are Leo and Nic.

Leo is a tattoo artist, trying to realize his dream of opening his own shop. For years he's been able to see what he thinks of as designs on people's skin, a sign he was sure meant he was crazy. Then he meets Jack (antagonist) who tells him this ability is a connection to a strange and frightening other world that Leo wants no part of. I love Leo for a lot of reasons, one of them being that he just wants to be left alone to do the thing he loves (tattooing) and I find that very relatable. 😄

Nic is the hot Italian stranger who stumbles into Leo's life with his own tie to the other world and a vendetta against the antagonist. In my first drafts, he was a little too perfect so now in addition to being charming and heroic, he's hot-headed and a bit conceited. Had to give him room to grow.

I've been writing their story for way too long and if I were to follow the advice of most published authors, I'd put it in a drawer and move on, but I can't. I just love them. I've even had some art commissioned with them. <3

43. Is there a trope or idea that you’d really like to write but haven’t yet? I think I answered a similar question in a previous game so I'll go the spicy route for this one: consensual somnophilia. You'd think with all the E-rated fics I've written nothing would hold me back, but for some reason this has always felt like a forbidden fruit. I have had ideas for it, though, so maaaaybe someday?

1. I kind of get freckles in the summer

2. I like tea and coffee. I like milk and sugar in both, but really only like coffee if it has loads of sugar.

4. Not sure how I sleep. I seem to wiggle around. Once managed to very nicely unbury a blanket and correctly position it in my sleep

5. I sometimes will have stuffies on my bed

Okay, so I’m writing this bit before I’ve actually watched the damned thing. Admittedly, I’m holding back because I already know I’m not going to like it lol. Is this to say that I think it will be a bad movie (by that I mean poorly written, shitty timing, shallow plot, etc.etc.etc.)? No! But I understand that my desires do not align with the desires of most viewers, so...

Though I have not seen the official trailer yet, I have seen gifs. and my initial response is an overwhelming and kind of long-suffering “i don’t caaaaaaaaare.” I love Thor and I love Loki but only when they’re interacting together. It’s their dynamic that makes them interesting to me and when it’s absent, the space it occupied is usually filled with what I consider to be nonsense. Then there’s Jane just existing. I appreciate some bits of her character and tried my damnedest to like her, but I don’t. I don’t hate her, but whenever she’s on screen or shit related to her is happening, I get upset because quality time in the mcu is limited (despite the collective runtime of their movies) and I am greedy and want every second to be dedicated to the shit that I care about, which is not her. I suppose this is unfair, but I can’t say that I care too much as Jane isn’t a real person whose feelings I can hurt, yfm.

And of course, the ass scene. So there are two major things about that scene: the nudity and how it came about and the tattoo. I don’t need to wax poetic about how forced nudity is sort of degrading and all the political shit associated with it because all of that has been said already. What I will talk about it is how it’s another example of TW’s tendency to make everything a bit. Stripping a character in the way that it’s done is meant to humiliate and while it might not be as heavy as it could be (stripping a supersexy god whiteman is not the exactly same as stripping someone who is more vulnerable), it does rub me the wrong way. I don’t want to see my* characters get humiliated for a laugh because I feel like the screen time could be better spent doing something more interesting.

As for the tattoo, my reaction to it is actually kind of similar. It’s a bit. It’s not meant to touch upon Thor’s actual grief (which isn’t funny), it’s supposed to allude to it but remove its claws. And not for nothing, didn’t TW already make this joke? I do think he’s funny, but these jokes weren’t my cup of tea. I feel like Thor and Loki’s relationship is too interesting and compelling to a) near-completely drop it from the plot and narrative and b) only allude to it in a way that trivializes it. Like gosh, another dumb tattoo that says RIP LOKI. What? Gonna give Thor tattoo of a heart with a banner running across it reading “MOM”? Eh. Is it better than totally ignoring Loki’s existence ever? I think, but it leaves much to be desired.

He’s a funny lil dude, indeed, but I wasn’t exactly waiting with bated breath to see him on screen. again, screen time is limited so I want to see it used wisely (read: in the ways I want it to). I’m also wondering about the impetus for bringing him back and more prominently. Was the fan demand that intense? Does Taika just want to feature himself more? I’d get it, I guess. It’s hard to be a successful artist without an inflated ego.

23 little things about me

Well, look at the time! Well, date, actually. It’s the 20th of February which means I’ve grown yet another year older. Twenty-three winters, in fact.

Now, I’m not one to celebrate birthdays since I don’t see the point in it. Yes, you’ve survived yet another year and are one step closer to death. Good on you. All the same, I’ll use the occasionally to share twenty-three wee facts about me.

1. I am fluent in Dutch (native tongue) and English (native-like).

2. Hair colour: Currently burgundy/reddish brown. Naturally, it’s dark brown with a reddish glow.

3. Eye colour: Hazel

4. I used to be able to speak French fairly well, but my mastery over the language has deteriorated over the years. Seriously need to brush up on it, though my passive skills are still good.

Why do we like this clown so much?

Change the "we" for "I" and you get an usual tag I use whenever I post my content in Tumblr. And it sounds funny at first but whenever you start diving into that phrase, the deeper it becomes. So, I finally have decided to share my thoughts about this strange but wholesome attraction to this deeply flawed character. It's not something I usually do since I don't know how to write down my feelings properly and also in english so please forgive any typos (I'm from Chile so don't be surprised lol).

So...Why do we like this clown so much?

Why was it that a character precisely designed to scare and to disgust the fuck out of us ended up unchaining a series of feelings that shouldn't have taken place in a beginning?

Let's take a look at the background: Joaquin Phoenix was cast as Arthur Fleck/Joker in 2018. The first image of him as the aforementioned character revealed a deeply disturbed man. We knew the plot. A man driven to insanity after a brutal history of abuse, creating concern in people if the upcoming film would inspire real life violence. Incel violence and mass shootings, more specifically.

As 2019 arrives, the two trailers generated so much hype that media needed to fuel its concern about it. Since it wasn't your typical comic book film, media basically bombed our minds making us believe this film was going to be a total disaster, an excuse to cause harm to others among other nonsense, as if the film would justify everything Arthur would do in the film, eventually. As the release date is closer, the film receives thunderous applause and unanimous praise from critics. At this, fans rejoiced and expressed impatience to watch the film.

October 5th.

People left the theaters amazed, shocked and genuinely moved by the inhuman treatment Arthur received in the film. The fear media tried so desperately to infuse in us with all the incel bullshit and such turned out to awake one of the most positive, best feelings in humans:

The word that so gloriously cleared away any dark thoughts or actions not only proves media was wrong but it turned out to ridicule it in way nobody will forget: Hundreds of people advocating for mental illness, calling out to the kindness that could change a person's bad day and questioning how politicians and rich people are indifferent to social problems proved how much as a society we have changed in comparison with the one shown in the film.

However, since we are on Tumblr, I'll get straight to the point and try to explain why the fuck does this clown has us dying out of love and compassion (and lust).

I. Background.

As nurturing as we women are for a biological matter, we see a man deprived of a good job, is on seven different medications, working like a slave to sustain his ill mother, putting aside his own health and well-being to look for her, struggling to make his dream of being a comedian despite everyone stepping on him, underpaid and treated like a freak for a disorder he did not ask to suffer, which makes it impossible to be indifferent to all the horrible ordeal that eventually will reach the limit of what he can tolerate without going insane. It is impossible to not say or think, at least, that someone (even if it's just one person) should stand for him just as it is impossible not to feel the need to throw ourselves at him to shield him from people who hurt him or simply offer him our shoulder whenever he has had a bad day, specially when he learns he was sexually assaulted by his step father.

This horrid behaviour terrifies newer generations because they get a taste of what being a social outcast was like more than thirty years ago in comparison with today, where there's more acceptance and treatment for mentally ill people like Arthur. We see in him someone who could have been saved with a proper education and emotional support instead of descending into madness as a criminal. Others simply saw themselves being treated like him at some point in their lives and couldn't help but put themselves in his shoes.

II. Personality.

TRUTH BE TOLD:

There's something called "attraction by proximity". It is the explanation to the eventual love you feel whenever someone doesn't catch your eye at first terms of physical attraction but his/her personality does attract you. This happens to be the base of this situation. His shyness, introverted nature, tenderness and innocent desire to make people laugh and put on a happy face awake some kind of tenderness we cannot resist. This combined with the gloomy background increases our understanding (but not justifying) of the bad decisions he'll eventually take during the course of the film. This traces a line of harsh, almost hurtful contrast of the violence he shows later on the film. Once again, it is not justified in any way but it is certainly understandable.

III. Appearance.

Arthur Fleck is unconventionally attractive.

This happens to be a plus for most women. He is out of the male beauty standards (no abs, not too muscly or particularly tall), which makes him even more unique. It is precisely the fact that he's not a model one of the reasons women love him. He could easily be your man next door or your colleague or the guy you always see but never dare to talk for fear to bother him Because it's about proximity. Arthur looks like your common neighbour. He's not meant to be your typical desirable male protagonist at all.

... And yet.

Jesus Christ, he's so fucking hot I can't even---

It's not about how beautiful his green eyes are, his long slender fingers, his hair or his smile only. It's the charm behind it.

Another "magnet point" is the way he dresses. I know he's impoverished and his wardrobe tend to be repetitive but it is so unpretentious, so simple that is hard to not fall for. The modesty of the shirts, ironed trousers reminds us of a mature man deeply withdrawn into himself, love starved and longing to be seen and loved by others, like a war veteran who still fights the most important war: with himself. Is someone who needs to be listened and understood.

AND OF COURSE WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE ABOUT IT?

He's also brought back the old gentleman outfit, white shirts, red/yellow vest, red suit and elegant dancing moves and the retro style of the film boosts this attractiveness.

People keep comparing him with the previous interpretation of Joker (Leto's) whose costume appealed to young women with a tattooed, gangster, mumble rapper crazy-guy wannabe which didn't connect with the audiences (young people in general). This supposedly was to match or even have a sexy, tormented and desirable villain like Marvel's Loki. We all know how that story ended but it's the link for the next point below.

IV. Transformation

This is a particularly strong point considering how much we loved to watch the process of this weak, powerless, forgotten caterpillar into a beautiful and visible butterfly that will gracefully stir its wings for everyone to see its colours.

When Arthur transitions to the Joker, it's so cathartic to see taking revenge on those who wronged him (even when we're not supposed to root for him) like seeing his shyness fading away into a vivid confidence when dancing half naked in the bathroom, or witnessing him making way to make his name known to people in Murray Franklin's Show:

Adding to this newly gained confidence, there's another turn on: the way he walks.

At the beginning, his pace is hunched and limping, displaying his submission to violence, which makes the viewer more satisfied to see his broken yet beautiful soul turning the past pain of his existence into art: he lets music guide his moves as a way to tell the world he's a new man by cutting most of the sick, evil roots that harmed him, that he's invincible, that no one can stop him. Watching this cathartic display of euphoria was the most iconic scene in the film, following his speech at the TV and the inevitable meltdown that caused Murray's death.

Going to further appreciation, even his clown make up is beautiful. Why? Simple. The combination of colours, shapes and the intimidating glare just embellishes even more the character.

The dark blue triangles in his expressive eyes makes the light green colour to highlight, specially in dark backgrounds, giving the impression he's piercing your soul whenever he stares directly at the camera. Same can be said about the red smile and emerald green hair. They boost an already intimidating look.

The cold and warm colours paint a picture of a man full of intense emotions, mirroring it in a simple yet masterful artistic way.

Another interesting point is the way Joker dresses. Usually we had almost every single live adaption of this character in purple coat, hat, etc. But this particular version is not following any comic, which gives more freedom to creativity and once again, out of the standards of what we could have expected.

Red is a colour related to passion, action, love, strength, motivation and excitement. As for yellow, it indicates freshness, happiness and enlightenment and finally, green. Green is renewal, growth and regeneration. Colours that represent a new stage in his life, a mirthful chapter at last. We finally get to see our battered, always humiliated protagonist (or hero) descending into madness, but finally free from his repressed man who held his soul captive like a bird to fly away, to never come back. An insanity that despite being his downfall, turned out to be his ticket to freedom as he walks to the light in Arkham Asylum dancing at the end.

Ladies and gentlemen: behold the film nobody asked... But the film we fucking deserved.

So, I’m trying to articulate my thoughts on Valhalla and gender, which is sparked by the fact that, while Lagertha is prominently mentioned as the mother of the Ragnarssons (and you can find her axe), we never hear so much as a word about Aslaug/Thora, who is pretty much the real protagonist of Ragnar’s saga. 

On one hand: Lagertha is pretty much at a high of popularity right now, courtesy of Vikings (derogatory). On the other hand: Aslaug is in Vikings (derogatory) too. We see her AS THE MOTHER of most of Ragnar’s sons. There’s no reason for her NOT to be recognizable enough to be included. (Lagertha’s inclusion is also problematic - Instead of being able to divorce Ragnar and have her own life, they went the cheap route by having her being shot by a Finnish arrow.) But, at the end of the day.....it feels like, while Valhalla DOES include a diverse range of women (including our protagonist), ultimately there is....some sort of hierarchy involved, where women who fight, or at least wield weapons are automatically seen as better? 

Of our two longterm romantic interests, neither one wears a dress, both of them in traditionally masculine clothing, likewise for Ciara in WOTD. With Randvi, we’re first really invited to pity her/consider her as a really viable romantic option when we hear that she COULD have been a Jomsviking....had she not been married off to Sigurd. We see her taking down bandits, drinking ale, and we’re supposed to think, at that point, that she’s a worthy love interest. 

There’s this rather confusing line from the artbook, which says: 

“As a strategist, Randvi does not dress in a warrior’s outfit, but neither does she wear the typical women’s clothing of her time.” 

Which...seems to imply that being a strategist (a role that primarily involves her being behind a table), is automatically at odds with wearing a dress. Even if 9th century Scandinavian clothing was restrictive (it isn’t - We’re well, well before the days of tightlacing here, and women had to be able to go about their daily chores, and even IN the days of tightlacing as the peak of fashion, plenty of women didn’t, or went about their daily chores), she’s not doing anything that involves intense manual labor. Putting her in pants is simply a way of saying “Look! Look at Randvi! Look at how independent she is!” which....actually doesn’t work, when almost EVERY OTHER major female NPC is ALSO in pants. Including Valka who, as a völva, ergo a non-combatant role that mostly involves eating shrooms in her huts, has no practical need for pants, even if, once again, the clothing was impractical. If I didn’t know What A 9th Century Norsewoman Should Look Like, I would just assume that this was something that all noblewomen did. 

It’s very rare to see women actively weaving, as I’ve discussed before, with Eivor only weaving as one of the disguises that she can take to blend in. As a shieldmaiden who’s up and about constantly, I honestly wouldn’t expect Eivor to devote that much time to weaving, but it is a little jarring when the women who are constantly at the settlement don’t so much as mention it, since this was a great opportunity for women to get together, share gossip, tell tales, talk shit about the men, etc. in their own spaces. And there was a bit of an anxiety around it, because, while this was a necessary function for the creation of clothing (which, in the game, seems to just materialize in chests over the game world), it also was tightly associated with magic and sorcery. (Hence why there was a stigma against men practicing magic....unless you’re Odin, in which case Loki will talk shit about you but is anyone else? No. Because you’re Odin.) I want to emphasize that my issue here isn’t “STAY IN THE KITCHEN AND BE A PROPER WOMAN, EIVOR”, it’s more....erasing what the vast majority of women in the Viking Age DID. 

The closest we get to more traditional, more conventional women would be in the form of the religious women, but, from the Anchoress to the one murderous nun in the mysteries event to Frideswid in the Lunden Arc to Acha in the Lincolnscire arc, they tend to be portrayed as either zealous and evil or confused and easily manipulated, which ignores the reality for many medieval women, which is that, for many women who didn’t want marriage for one reason or another (whether it was that they were facing the possibility of a forced marriage, or they had no dowry, or they were lesbians, or they were ace, or they were any combination of those things), it was their one chance at a life of their own. I’m not saying that it was IDEAL, or that the medieval church was ideal, but it did give them options (that, incidentally, in the pre-Christian times....you didn’t have. Which is why I don’t attach any real sense of horror to Christianity coming to Ireland, at LEAST from the standpoint of women’s rights. There are other aspects to that, but we’re here, in 9th century England, so I won’t go into it.) No, it has to come from some moral defect, otherwise, they would be independent, like Eivor, like Randvi, like Petra, like Eadwyn, like Valdis, or even like Fulke, who is a religious figure referenced, extensively, as mad and heretical, but who makes a large impact on the plot and at least earns some level of respect, as opposed to the others who make relatively brief appearances.

Now, when discussing women warriors, there tends to be some moral value attached to it: “Women warriors DIDN’T EXIST, and if you argue that they DID, you just want women to be men, ignoring that non-femme women might find comfort in the knowledge that they aren’t alone”, often with a sense of moral guilt-tripping over “Erasing women’s suffering” (which also falls into the trap of assuming that being a woman = suffering, or that that’s the defining experience of being a woman) VS “Women warriors EXISTED and they were #NotLikeOtherGirls and that’s ALL we’re going to talk about as far as women at the time, as well as ignoring any potential evidence for trans or otherwise nonbinary identities”. Both options have the potential to erase or diminish what either option can mean to people. I hate both options equally, and I find that the way they’re brought in is incredibly manipulative. I’m not interested in saying that putting an axe in a woman’s hand = setting back feminism for twenty years. I’m not interested in saying that having essentially no more conventional women in the main cast = feminism. Both are bad, but what I’m concerned about is the lack of nuance in Valhalla and how it seems to assume that there’s ONLY ONE WAY to have power. (I’d hoped that Lady Eadwyn would be cool, and she is....even though we only see her in armor, she’s kind of what I would expect from a medieval woman, in the sense that her husband was Ealdorman and now she’s following in his footsteps, defending her rights as his widow, but then we replace her with a dude.)

As someone whose relationship to gender is Weird, I actually really, really enjoy playing a female character who has the kind of independence that Eivor has - I enjoy getting to jump around, killing things in a gloriously rendered historical environment. I enjoy that, with the exception of Dag, no one really questions it (though I would have been down for a more in-depth examination of gender in the Viking Age). I enjoy that Eivor is compassionate, clever, and aggressive, and that she’s able to have romances with both sexes. I’m not trying to nuke her via historical accuracy here (especially since the historical reality of shieldmaidens is SUCH a hot topic, I feel like wading into either end of the historical accuracy pool is a recipe for disaster) because I actually really, really like her as a character. There are relatively few times where I really, really identify with and love a main female video game character, especially since, so often, even into the present, when things are supposed to be better, I can still TELL that they were made by and for straight men, and this is one. What I AM saying is that I hate that it comes at the expense of basically every woman who ISN’T a warrior or otherwise “independent” by the game’s standards. You do have merchant women, the tattoo artist in camp, Valka, as mentioned before, but it all goes back to that point - We never really see a prominent woman running the household, managing the money, giving orders, which was an immensely important, powerful job, and as a result, it always feels kind of halfway done, that we’re over-representing one relationship to gender at the expense of another.

why you chose your url: it was before i came back to tumblr for the magicians... i was mostly into captain america at the time but could not find an available cap-related username lmao so i went with something from one piece. i have been trying to change my url to my ao3/discord name but tumblr claims it is taken (it is not)

following: i don’t know and i don’t feel like checking lmao. i’m fairly certain most of them are from my earlier tumblr days and are now inactive though

average hours of sleep: ever since i got my dog (who promptly gets up around 5:30am everyday), maybe like... 6 :( i need ~8 to properly function so it’s not good!

last book read: currently reading “detransition, baby” (i am very behind the book club schedule because i got a little overwhelmed), but the last one i actually finished was “winter’s orbit” by everina maxwell. i liked it a lot! i was expecting a sorta frothy gay romance with some vague sci-fi plot in the background, but the main focus was actually like a sci-fi political intrigue mystery, and the romance felt like a b-plot a bit. not what i was expecting, but enjoyable nonetheless

top three fictional universes you’d like to live in: this is difficult! maybeeee harry potter post-voldemort but all the other ones that i can think of are... kinda terrible!

You walked into work on Monday morning, dragging ass. You dumped your bags in your office and leaned back in your chair, eyes closed.

“So… how was the con?” you co-worker and best friend, Sam asked from the doorway.

“Coffee.” you groaned as you peeked through one eyelid, the overhead lights blinding you. 

“It was coffee?” he commented, barely containing a smile on his face.

“Very funny, smartass. I need coffee. Want to come?” 

“Yeah, just let me drop my stuff off.” 

He disappeared, and you fished your wallet out of your purse. 

“Ready to go?” he popped his head in. 

“Yup, let me grab my keys.”

The two of you trotted over to the local coffee shop across the street. You both ordered large coffees, yours with English Toffee syrup. 

“Now that you have your caffeine, tell me about the con. Do anything cool?”

Your throat closed up. “Uh, yeah. I did do some cool stuff.” you choked out, taking a big gulp of hot coffee, scalding your tongue.

“What did you do? Ask a question at a panel? Meet some artist? Get a tattoo? Please tell me you got a tattoo.”

“I did not get a tattoo. I did meet some cool artists.” you muttered, shy about the whole thing.

“Please tell me you got to meet that amazing artist who does the Nightwing prints. You got me a Nightwing print, right? Oh, and the one with all the Loki prints? Butternut Squash?”

“Gouache. Yes, I met them both. Your print is in my office. I also met Tom Hiddleston.”

He stared at you, unimpressed. “Well, yeah. Of course you did.” The two of you returned to your office. “You had a pass to get his autograph. You had to meet him. What did he think of the picture?”

“He liked it a lot.” You sat down and unlocked your computer. 

“Cool, cool, cool.”

“In fact…” You rock side to side in your chair. “He liked it so much that he invited me to dinner.” 

Sam stood there, mouth agape. “Are you fucking kidding?”

You held up two fingers. “Twice. Oh, and on the last day, I had lunch with him and Charlie Cox.”

Sam ran his hands through his cropped hair. “Holy shit! That’s amazing! Wait, should you even be telling this?”

“I included a clause in the NDA to allow me to talk with my husband and my best friend.”

“I’m your best friend?” He crossed his arms in front of him. “So honored.”

You tossed paperclips at him. “Stop it. You know full well are you.”

Sam pulled up a chair, laughing. “I know, we just don’t say it out loud. So tell me the whole story.”

You give him a quick rundown of the entire weekend, from the autograph session all the way to lunch with Charlie Cox.

“That is amazing. And you have his number. Has he texted you?”

“He texted me to let me know he was home and asked if I got home okay.”

“That is so sweet. Are you ever going to see him again?”

You pulled out the journal. “Flip to the future log.”

Sam flipped to the front of your planner. “Did he write that?” He did a double take. You nodded. “And Luke wants me to come out too. Tom wants to meet the family. Girls, Hubs, everyone.”

“Wow! Have you told your husband yet?” 

Your face dropped. 

“I will cross that bridge when I get there.”

“You know what he will say.”

“What?”

“What is this Hiddles shit and Tom fuckery?”

You burst into laughter. “No lie. Thanks, Sam.”

He pointed a finger at you as he left the office. “Keep me posted.”

“You bet. I will give you the blow by blow. Promise.”

“You live a bizarre life.”

“Who knew a blog would cause all this?”

“Yeah and you were scared you would get sue.”

“I know. But here I am just a girl with a blog, meeting actors, rubbing elbows.”

“Again you live a bizarre life. Have a great day.”

“Thanks, Sam. Next time you are coming with me to a convention.”

“No doubt. Maybe I get invited to dinner by Jessica Chastain.”

Grey-asexual, aro-adjacent, and bi... something (it’s complicated)

2. What are you obsessed with right now?

Playing Sims 2, but I feel like it’s about to shift. Not sure what’s next.

Not beyond alcohol, no. I wouldn’t be against trying space cake one day but that’s more for curiosity's sake.

I have one in each ear; can’t think of any other I’d like to have.

No, I gave up on that decades ago because it was all so boring and disappointing. I can, however, enjoy gifs and pics.

That... I really don’t know. I support teleporting as a way of traveling though.

Absolutely not! *shudder*

Making sure that I and my daughter remain financially secure for the foreseeable future. I would also finally feel free to donate to any causes I want to support, so I don’t feel so powerless in the world.

Nope, and I prefer singlehood.

I did, but they seem to have disappeared so I guess they got tired of Tumblr’s fuckery and moved elsewhere.

Not unless I allow myself to think about it. My anger gets triggered by bullies and bigots, especially if they act controlling.

One of Loki’s helmet and the words “God of Mischief” and possibly one with some kind of cat.

I changed my first name slightly by omitting part of it and just leaving “Marie” back in my twenties. I also tried to change my last name to “Strega” but the patent laws in my country wouldn’t allow it so I added it as a second first name instead (and use it in informal situations.)

20. What is something you’re obsessed with?

Nutritional science keeps coming back in my obsessions. As does various languages I want to learn.

Lives in India, writes naughty Loki fics, and sent me a box of beautiful things recently 🥰 She’s also adorable.

How to dye a heart [Tattoo Artist AU] {4/?}

Title: How To Dye A Heart

Warnings: probably lots of sass

Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader

Summary: sketching was always a way for (Y/N) to express her feelings, when words couldn’t. Drawing fascinated her and she always had a thing or to for her mothers tattoos. so when she finished school, (Y/N) went to Europe for a few years to become an artist. 

Word Count: 794 Words

A/N: I am SOO INCREDIBLY SORRY for being an inactive piece of trash for probably over a year... :´) But thanks to quarantine I aspire to continue my stories as fast as I can! 

Also I want to explain some tattoo terms to you in case you don’t know them: 

Biomechanical - A style of tattooing also referred to as “biomech” in which a tattooist designs a piece (usually freehand) based on the client’s body flow in order to recreate a robotic or cyborg-like aesthetic to the client’s skin.

Blowout - This is what occurs when a tattoo is not applied properly and goes too deep into the skin. This causes the ink to “settle” strangely creating a minor cloudy effect around the initial design.

“Scheiße ist mir warm! Ist ja unglaublich, in Deutschland frierst du dir den Arsch ab und hier ist es im Sommer scheiße heiß! Ich gehe hier ein!”, (Y/N) yelled through the entire Studio. She has been back to America and her cousin Tony and it has become summer in the meantime. Everyone looked at each other in confusion Steve looked at Pietro, who just laughed, and then at Loki, who read a book and cracked a smirk. “Okay, I give up, what did she say?”, Clint asked, done with trying to figure out what that girl just said. Pietro started laughing more because of Clints reaction. Loki then put his book down. “She said, and i quote: ‘Crap it’s so hot! Unbelievable, in Germany you’re freezing your ass off and over here it’s fucking hot! I’m gonna die!’ “, Loki said, imitating all of her gestures. “Pfffft-”, Tony and Thor started laughing. “Oh yeah, okay, okay i got it, very funny”, (Y/N) said, bumping her fist against his head. “Ouch, hey!”

Considering the hot temperatures of summer, the “Avengers” studio closed for a day, making everybody open all the windows and clean the studio, not to forget the equipment. “Hey, don’t you guys got an autoclave?”, Loki asked when he looked at the studios cleaning utensils. “What’s an autoclave?”, Wanda looked at him, then at her brother confused. “Oh I think I’ve heard of that!”, Bruce mentioned. “Yeah, me too”, Steve and Natasha agreed. “In conclusion, an autoclave is a machine that uses steam and high pressure to sterilize tattoo equipment before and after each tattoo session”, Pietro explained. “In Germany we had one, some of them look a little like a microwave, but most of them look like a pot”, (Y/N) added. “That actually sounds good”, Tony considered, “I think we should get one!” 

 In the meantime about all the boys put off their shirts and worked in shorts, the girls changed into the most comfortable short tops and loose pants they could find. “I already forgot how freaking hot it is here, compared to Germany...”, (Y/N) whined. “You want some cold wat-”, Bucky started, wanting to offer her something to cool down, but Loki interrupted him, by laying his hand flat on her forehead. “So besser? (Is that better?)”, he asked. “Ahh, so schön kühl... Dankeschön, ich lobe mir deine generell tiefe Körpertemperatur du Eisriese (Ahh, nice and cool... thank you, I really appreciate your strangely low body temperature, you frost giant)”, (Y/N) sighed in relief. [Ay, see what I did there? *finger guns*] 

Bucky strangely went really silent after that, still holding the water in his hand. “Uhm, Buck? Are you okay?”, Steve asked and pulled up an eyebrow at him, but the man with the metal arm tattoo just stared at the girl. “Nahw, Barns, you got the hots for her?”, Natasha and Wanda purred into his ears, one of them at each sides. “wHAT?!”, Bucky exclaimed. (Y/N), who still had Loki’s Hand on her forehead, and Loki himself and literally everybody else looked at the man who basically just screamed through the entire studio. “Are you okay?” (Y/N) asked. “Whaaat? Uh- Pff, yeah! Yeah I’m fine, all good”, Bucky Answered, trying to play it cool. He then proceded to lean on a table with one arm and weirdly crossed one of his legs behind the other. But to make this situation even more embarrassing, he slipped and fell. “I’M GOOD! I’m good..”, he said, standing up again. (Do you guys get what I’m trying to picture here..? I feel like I am not able to really describe the situation really good xD) 

“You guys seem to like the Biomechanical Style huh?” (Y/N) said, referring to Tonys ‘Arch Reactor’ tattoo and Buckys ‘Metal Arm’ tattoo and sitting down next to Bucky, who settled in front of the studio to watch the sunset. “Yeah well, I had a Tattoo Studio named “Hydra” fuck up a tattoo on my arm, it had a huge blowout, so I came here for a coverup and stayed” Bucky answered. “Oh wow.. I heard of that studio, they closed it, but I heard of a lot people with messed up tattos..” she said.

The two stayed silent for a bit, then (Y/N) raised her voice again. “So... what was that today about yelling through the entire studio?”, she chuckled. Bucky jumped a bit. “Uh.. yeah, that was nothing uhm… exactly. Nothing.” “ I see”, the girl chuckled again. “Hey by the way, what’s your name? Like your whole name?” “uhm.. Bucky Barnes..”, he answered. “Oh come on, Bucky sounds like a name for a horse, what’s the whole name?”, she teased. Bucky chuckled a little.

 “It’s James. James Buchanan Barnes.” 

“James huh? That’s a beautiful name…”
