au! no apocalypse abby anderson relationship headcanons
tags: no outbreak, college student abby, fluff
Tumblr media
+ The beginning of Abby's life started out like one from the movies. For a while, life for the Andersons was perfect, until her mother tragically passed away. It was a shock to the whole family, but Abby barely remembered the woman by the time she had turned four and those few memories were now lost for good.
+ Since Jerry raised her by himself, practically since birth, Abby evidently lacked a mother figure. There were the other kids' moms but not one she could call her own. The fact that she had no mother hadn't bothered her much before, actually she rarely ever thought about that part of her life. Until middle school when she hit puberty and Jerry realized that no amount of effort he put in could match that of a woman, someone who knew exactly what Abby was going through. Consequently, Marlene started coming around more to help out; Jerry regarded her as his closest friend and believed she would be a good role model for his daughter.
+ Abby went on to pursue medicine, more specifically surgery but she's still wondering which branch. It's leaning towards neurological surgery, the same as her father.
+ Aside from her medical studies, she plays for the college's lacrosse team. Needless to say, she's the best on the team. Teammates love her, coaches, student fans... Hell even the other team can't help but practically swoon over her. She's just so naturally charismatic and considerate, it doesn't matter if she's on the field. You can catch her checking up on the other players to ask how they're feeling or to give them borderline unwarranted praise. It's just a game at the end of the day, and although she wants to win, enjoying the sport with everyone is more important.
+ You and Abby literally run into each other when meeting for the first time. She's rushing to class because for the one time ever she's late; when suddenly she turns a corner and bumps right into you. For some reason, she disregards all previous efforts in favor of asking you out.
+ She lives at home with her dad, opting to commute rather than dorm. Given that it's been just the two of them for so long, leaving Jerry behind would fill her with too much guilt. Abby doesn't care about living away from campus, especially since Jerry respects her and every part of her life, even the parts he may disapprove of.
+ Don't let Jerry catch you with Abby when she's skipping class. Once or twice is a lapse in judgement, but any more is a pattern and it'll make him think you're a bad influence. He'll scold her in front of you, no shame.
+ Jerry secretly enjoys your presence in the house, noticing how it seems more full of life when you're over. Try to study with Abby, medical terminology is the easiest to help with being that it requires nothing but a term and definition to teach. A couple flashcards later and Jerry will practically give you his blessing.
+ Speaking of, she can't wait to get married. It's something she's dreamed of since she was a little girl; to be so in love with someone that you decide you'll be together for the rest of your joint lives... It was a cute belief until she learned about divorce. Still, she remains overly optimistic in terms of love, believing that whoever she's meant to be with will find her.
+ And you, you really make her happy. She's always been a joyful individual but you've taken that tendency to new extremes.
+ Abby uses old-fashioned dating moves like the ones she's observed from all the classics her dad made her watch in order to 'educate' her. Out of the blue, she'll show up on your doorstep with flowers and chocolate; it's a timeless gift. Takes you on surprise dates when you let her. One time she took it too far and surprised you with dinner to some high-end restaurant you've been wanting to try. Thoughtful idea with an awful execution since you didn't dress for the occasion at all. She didn't even notice until you pointed it out, she was too busy looking at your pretty face to care about anything else.
+ Does not let you pay for stuff! Jerry gave her a card under his name when she turned 18 because he wanted Abby to have total focus on her education and extracurriculars (alongside an active social life). He trusts her completely and knows she's not the type to abuse his kindness by making useless and/or expensive purchases.
+ Dates with you are a necessity, though; it's a weekly thing the two of you committed to within the first month of getting together. Abby thinks it's crucial to set aside one night to eat together face-to-face, she finds the whole ordeal intimate and domestic in an unexpected way.
+ It's probably a month or two in the relationship that she asks if you want to spend the night. In the morning she's almost begging you to sleep over again that night, telling you she'll order in your favorite food and the two of you can watch a movie before a fuck cuddle sesh.
+ The smartest gf ever, she likes keeping you informed on the subjects she's learning about in class. It actually helps increase some of your medical knowledge just by being around her, she's a natural teacher after all.
+ She tries to see you as much as she can around her busy schedule. If she can't see you that day she calls and texts when she's got a second to be on her phone; And she always makes up for lost time. After a quick reunion, she'll lock the two of you in her room for hours, letting you know exactly just how much she missed you.
+ Abby has a bright future ahead of her in this world, one she plans on sharing with you.

Daily Check-in: April 8, 2024 🎀
Monday was a decently good day for me. Me and my boyfriend had to sort out some stuff after arguing Sunday night but everything is good now, work had went amazing, and I got a lot done. I know everyone hates Mondays but I genuinely look forward to them.
🩷 What I Accomplished:
assigned reading quiz for psyc
chemistry homework
chemistry extended lab report (finally got my notebook back)
2 medical terminology lectures
medical terminology flashcards
medical terminology self + timed test
meeting with a financial aid advisor
submitted my application for a 2nd job on campus
prepped myself amazing at work
studied Spanish
made a study plan for chemistry for the rest of the semester
🩷 Good Things That Happened:
got to see my dad for a short bit
work went super good and I finished very quickly
got to zoom call my boyfriend and it went well
started the first episode of Parasyte The Grey on Netflix and in already hooked
got my lab notebook back from my friend
was able to leave my study room early due to lack of stuff to do
have more space in my room now cause my dad took a bunch of stuff I needed to get rid of
drank half a gallon of water total (I never drink that mih even tho realistically I need more water then that daily)
🩷 What Could've Gone Better:
ate too much and didn't eat the healthiest, but that's okay because everyday is a new day and a new chance to make some good choices
could've spent more time the past weeks looking at the stuff for my lab report so I would've gotten more right
got my chem exam back and I don't think I did as well as I hoped, but the professor hasn't posted grades yet so idk
realized I definitely need to study chemistry more then I thought
So, Monday was definitely a good day overall. I was surprised by how well work went and how everything felt but not mad about it at all! I love having good days! Let's hope Tuesdays just as good <3
btw, check out my depop shop if you get the chance, will be uploading more stuff soon!
til next time lovelies 🩷
💕 Song of The Day:
ILLIT -- Magnetic
When I say this song has been on repeat....I mean it's been on REPEAT. such a catchy song, I love the Kpop genre so much <3333

Note
hello.
my fluency goal is to be able to flow when i think and talk in spanish. like, not having to really pause every couple seconds to think about what i want to say.
i felt i had a good grasp on simple beginner vocab, so ive been trying to learn more vocab by thinking in spanish, and then writing down words that i dont know the spanish word for so i can look it up later.
thing is, there is a lot i dont know and its very overwhelming cause i feel like i'll never be able to learn this much.
at what "level" of proficiency does that feeling go away if ever?
is there some sort of beginner - intermediate- advanced vocab list i should just follow instead?
That's a fairly common feeling.
I felt like that until I started to take literature classes in Spanish. Occasionally there were words or expressions I didn't know, but our little booklets were anthology workbooks that had vocab/expressions listed on the side with the English
I feel like I got a lot out of those books because we had our assigned readings, but I could also just read the other stories if I wanted and it was useful practice
That being said - it largely depends on your level
There are certain words or expressions even I don't know. At my level, it's typically very specific topics like names of plants, or medical terminology, or sometimes more technical things
I still very much feel like I'm not fluent when I find myself reading something that's lyrical or slang OR when it's classical literature and the sentence structure throws me off entirely
I have found personally that I feel more confident when I read a page of text and I know more words than words I don't. If I can make it through a whole page without difficulty, I feel really good about myself
You also don't learn a lot of vocab unless you're specifically using a lot of vocab, because it's harder to memorize something that you don't find that useful.
There are also a lot of words that I can't tell what they are, but by context I sort of understand what the general thing is - usually in my case it's names of plants/trees or animals. It would be like listing la luciérnaga in a list with things like las hormigas "ants" or las abejas "bees" - I naturally assume it's an insect; and la luciérnaga is "firefly"
Sometimes with verbs I can sort of work out what it means by context. I would say try to read a whole sentence and see if you can figure out what it means by context; sometimes you can't, but sometimes you can feel it out
-
Otherwise I have my Vocabulario Tag and I'd specifically recommend looking for the list of random words rather than specific topics (unless you want to) because it gives a bigger assortment of things
I'll also try and find some of my anthology books to give people titles in case they want to read something more specifically geared towards language learning and forming responses; these are the types of books I used in high school and college to help you form your thoughts about something for essays or exams
Potentially you might find some use out of Memrise - which is a site where you can make your own flashcards and a lot of people can make their own flashcards available for other people to see and use; with languages you kind of have to take it with a grain of salt because sometimes the ones I’ve seen don’t mark the gender of the words or they don’t provide enough context on some words, but overall very helpful if you can curate your own experience

“I’m never going to remember all of these. How the hell does Professor Adams expect us to remember all the muscle groups and their placement in the body along with everything else? I’m going to fail this.” you’re disgusted as you toss down the pile of flashcards on the counter. Tate looks up from the textbook in front of him and chuckles, nodding to it. “Everything okay?”
You rub your temples, you can feel the migraine setting in already. Tate raises up from his chair, moving to stand behind the chair you’re sitting in, hands at your shoulders. As he starts to massage your shoulders, you bite back a soft gasp and your eyes flutter open and shut. The way his hands feel on your body has you thinking about anything but the textbook and the notes, the flashcards in front of you, but you don’t dare say this aloud.
Falling in love with your roommate is a recipe for disaster and sadly, you have.
But you’re probably not his type, you’re introverted, you’re not supermodel hot, you’re actually kind of a nerd and you’re not like the other girls at school, you’re very inexperienced. Awkward.
As Tate feels the tension gathered in your shoulders, he continues to massage, leaning himself against you lightly as he stops massaging you to reach out and pick up a pen lying on the tabletop. “I’ve got an idea.”
You glance up at him over your shoulder and he’s tugging off the Nirvana shirt he’s wearing, letting it fall from his fingertips as he holds the pen out to you and bites his lip. It’s so hot the way you get flustered so easy around him. He’s definitely gotten the suspicion that you’re not like other girls, you’re innocence and light. Warmth and pure. And god help him, he’s drawn to it like a moth to flame. He wants to protect it and at the same time, he wants to ruin it, ruin you for other guys so he can have you all to himself.
His little idea is just a foot in the door.
“What’s your idea?” you ask, brows knit in confusion, cheeks on fire as your eyes have no choice but to roam his bare upper body and your whole body burns just a little hotter when your eyes lock on his big brown ones and you see him staring back at you, the softest of smirks on his mouth. He holds out the pen to you. “Label them on me. It’ll help you see it and remember it.”
“Tate, I–” you bite your bottom lip but you take the pen and give him a weak but thankful smile. “O-okay.” your hands are shaking as you step up to him, dragging the pen over his chest first, marking off the pectoral muscles. He swallows hard and bites back a groan, managing to keep a straight face the whole time he’s doing it but as that pen moves lower, he can feel himself getting really, really hard. He never stopped to consider that getting you to do this -getting you to touch him in the process, was going to be the tease it was turning into.
You’re done labeling his upper body and you’ve stepped closer to him at some point, when it happens and your bodies brush, he bites back the quietest of growls, quick to disguise it with a chuckle. He can feel the pen shaking in your fingers but he doesn’t say anything, instead pretending he doesn’t notice because the last thing he wants is you to stop touching him. He grabs the textbook from the table without breaking his gaze and bites his bottom lip as he reads out each grouping of muscles you’ve labeled.
“See?” he chuckles, stepping just a little closer as he sits the book down on the table nearby, brown eyes fixed on you, leaning down and into you just slightly. It’s enough that you can feel your thighs clamp together tight as your panties really start to soak through. And you’re flustered, stammering for your words. He pushes the pen back into your hand and takes a shaky breath. “Do y’ think you can remember the others? Or do I…” he nods to his jean clad lower body and you nearly swallow your tongue, stammering out that he doesn’t have to do this, that you think you can remember.
“I don’t mind, darling.” he coaxes, biting his lip as a low and dark chuckle slips past, “Unless it’s gonna make you uncomfortable? That’s the last thing I want to do, princess.” and he wants to punch himself when the pet name leaves his mouth but he can’t help it, you’re bringing out this whole other side of him and it’s so overwhelming that he can’t possibly keep fighting it.
“N-no. No. It’s fine. I just…” your eyes are glued to his hand and the way it hovers over the button of his jeans. As the button slips through the buttonhole, you just barely bite back an unholy whine threatening to come. Then he’s unzipping his jeans and your breath catches, hanging in your throat. His pants fall to the floor and you tell yourself not to look down but naturally, this is the first thing you find yourself doing. Tate sees it and he licks his lips, reaching out to lightly grip your jaw, giving just the smallest squeeze as he tilts your face so that your eyes meet his.
“You alright?” his question is asked in a husky whisper, his mouth just nearly grazing against your own… And if you were smarter, you’d have figured out by now that he’s definitely up to something. And it’s everything you’ve lain awake nights imagining, touching yourself underneath the bed sheets, all hot and bothered as you picture what your hot and broody roommate might look like beneath his clothes.
“Y-yeah.” you manage to stammer out the word and it’s lame, weak. You’re not okay right now, your stomach is coiled and your thighs are clamped so damn tight they hurt and you’re visibly flustered, you’ve dropped the damn pen before you even realize it. Tate bends to pick it up and maybe he’s teasing a little when he looks you in the eye and uses that smooth tone he’s so adept at using and the one that always calms you down, “Relax. ‘S not like you’ve never seen this…”
“Right, yeah.” you’re laughing despite knowing full well that Tate’s cock is the first cock you’ve actually seen before and now that you have, all you can think about is how badly you wish it was buried inside of you. You try to shove the thought out of your head and focus on labeling the groups of muscles that make up his thighs and then his calves and you pause when you hear him grunt and it’s this husky sound from deep within him.
You’re dangerously close to his cock right now, the warmth of your breath fanning against it a little when you breathe in and out. He squirms a little, tries to keep his composure so he doesn’t make things awkward, but your breath against it has it getting even harder. He fixes his gaze down on the top of your head and tries like hell not to imagine curling his fingers in soft strands, tugging as he pushes your mouth down around his member.
When you stand again, holding up the pen to him, he lets out a long and ragged breath and his legs finally seem to relax, even if only a little. “Let’s see how y’ did.” he picks up the book again, noting all the names and areas you’ve marked off, chuckling to himself as he sits the book to the side again and bends down, pulling back up his jeans and black boxers. “Think you can remember now?” he asks, his tone huskier as it leaves his mouth. You’re stepping closer too, your bodies bump against each other, his hand against your hip just slightly. You give him a flustered smile and nod, taking a deep breath. “Yeah.”
“Good.”
“If you…” you start to offer yourself up to do the same for him, but you can’t even begin to make the words leave your mouth. The door to your shared apartment is being beaten down and Tate grumbles as soon as he hears one of the frat boys he’s friends with yelling through the other side.
The second Tate is gone to answer the door, you lean heavily against the fridge and you try your very best to pull yourself together.
You’re going to need an ice bath now and you know it.

The iPad Kid In Question
In today's generation, the concept of "iPad kids" has gained popularity as a meme and cultural reference. It represents a generation of youngsters who have grown up surrounded by technology, specifically tablets like the iPad. It was an ongoing meme that can be coined as an insult that led me to deny that I am not an iPad kid. However, with how I deal with everyday life, I’ve realized that I cannot live without it. The iPad has played an important role in my life, especially in my academics and leisure activities.
Tumblr media
Do I need my traditional nursing books? No, I have already downloaded them to my note-taking app (Goodnotes). I do not need to bring my thick nursing books to school because I have everything downloaded on my iPad. Do I need to bring tons of notebooks or pad paper when note-taking during lectures? No, I do not need to because I have a handy dandy iPad with me when I go to school.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the most significant advantages of utilizing an iPad for taking notes is its portability. iPads are lightweight and compact, allowing me to easily carry them wherever I go. Whether in a classroom, group meeting, or coffee shop, the iPad offers a convenient device for taking notes on the go without the need for heavy notebooks or stacks of paper. iPads also save notes digitally, removing the need for physical storage and minimizing clutter. I do not need to be stressed whenever I cannot find a certain reviewer of mine that I need to use to study for a quiz the next day. Moreover, I can organize my notes into folders, categories, or tags, making it simple to find specific information quickly and therefore saving me time and effort.
Tumblr media
Aside from note-taking and storing my books, I can access a lot more websites and apps that are needed for my academic requirements. Apps like Quizlet and Anki, which I use for reviewing, especially for active recall and spaced repetitions, allow me to create custom flashcards using text, graphics, music, and even mathematical equations that fit my learning style. They include multimedia features to improve my retention. These kinds of apps are really helpful for me since nursing is a course that demands a lot of memorization of different concepts. They are my lifesaver when memorizing key terms, medical terminology, anatomy, pharmacology, and other nursing concepts.
Tumblr media
Canva is also an app that helps me survive school, and without it, my non-creative self cannot live in the academic realm wherein creativity is a required skill in creating and finishing schoolwork. The ready-made presentations, infographics, posters, and other forms of media help me meet school deadlines. I still tweak its design, but the fact that there is a template that I can use as a guide makes me more productive. Regardless of background or expertise, a person can create graphic designs using the straightforward drag-and-drop interface and pre-designed templates of Canva.
Tumblr media
Another app that is helpful in terms of video editing because of how accessible it is and easy to navigate is Capcut. It is an app that both my iPad and phone can access, making video editing for school tasks easier than before. The interface is well-organized, with tools and features that are easy to access and use, allowing me to efficiently edit videos without being overwhelmed by complex settings. CapCut provides a comprehensive range of editing tools and features that allow me to modify and enhance videos based on my preferences and the requirements of my subjects. When I was in high school, I needed to borrow my mother’s laptop to edit in a built-in video editing app that was hard to navigate because of its technicality and complicated interface. But with this particular app, I can finish my work within a small amount of time, which I can say is perfect for a student who crams video-type projects.
Tumblr media
Google apps like Google Meet, Google Slides, Sheets, Drawings, and most especially Google Docs, have made my life easier. With just having a Gmail account, I can access my documents on all of my devices. If I forget to add something to my document and I already closed my laptop, I can use my iPad or phone to add more information to my paper without the need to assemble my laptop, especially when I’m already lying down in bed ready to sleep. If there is an urgent need to revise my work but I’m out of the house and do not have my laptop with me, I can use my iPad or even my phone and edit it through the Google apps. With an Internet connection, these apps or websites bring convenience and accessibility wherever I go or whatever circumstances I have.
Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides also allow multiple users to work on the same document at once. This real-time collaboration function is especially useful for group projects, team meetings, and collaborative writing assignments. I can monitor changes and updates in real-time, thereby facilitating seamless communication and workflow efficiency. I also consider this a lifesaver to pinpoint my groupmates who have been neglecting group tasks and monitoring their contributions.
Moreover, the nerve-wracking experience of accidentally deleting one’s document is devastating and something I do not like to experience again. Google Apps are a lifesaver again in this aspect because they automatically save versions of documents, allowing me to track changes, return to previous versions, and discover who made specific modifications.
Tumblr media
Last but not least, my favorite feature of the iPad is its size and how I can watch series and movies on a larger screen. I do not like the hassle of turning on my TV or my laptop, both of which I cannot bring to my bed whenever I need to rest. With the iPad, there is unlimited access to watching shows while lying comfortably in my bed. I have access to a vast library of movies, TV shows, documentaries, and original content, allowing me to explore a world of entertainment possibilities at any time and from any location. On top of that, I find it difficult to refrain from eating without watching something on my iPad. This behavior perfectly aligns with the concept of an 'iPad kid,' someone who eats while using their iPad. It is essential for me when I eat since if I do not distract myself through watching videos, I tend to eat too fast, therefore not being able to chew my food well.
Besides what I've mentioned above, the iPad's multitasking capabilities also enable me to view videos while also browsing the web, reading emails, or taking notes. Picture-in-Picture mode allows me to minimize the video player and continue watching content while using other programs, thereby increasing my productivity and multitasking effectiveness. I particularly enjoy this feature when I just need white noise or background noise whenever I need to finish something that does not require too much work or concentration. In addition, this feature is also useful whenever I need to write down notes during my online classes.
"my lifesaver"
My phone and laptop have features and strengths that I use depending on what I need, but my iPad is a mixture of them. With the help of my Apple Pencil, offers versatile features that make my life more productive. The iPad's combination of features and characteristics provides versatility and adaptation to various demands and preferences. Whether I use it for work, play, education, or creativity, the iPad is a versatile platform that adapts to my changing needs and lifestyle. At this point, I can say that I’ve already achieved a return on investment, or ROI, with my iPad.
A phrase that can describe the technology, in general, is ‘my lifesaver’. Throughout my narrative, I cannot count how many times I mentioned that phrase because indeed, these smart devices, digital services, and software applications offer convenience and accessibility that make life easier. They provide unprecedented convenience and accessibility in our daily lives. Whether it's ordering food online, booking transportation, or operating smart home gadgets with voice commands, technology makes tasks and routines easier, saving time and effort. As we manage the complicated aspects of modern life, technology is our constant friend, allowing us to prosper in an ever-changing digital landscape.

How does medical coding differ from medical billing, and why are both important in healthcare?
Studying medical coding can be challenging due to the complexity and volume of information you need to master. Here are some effective study tips to help students succeed in medical coding courses:
Understand the Basics First: Before diving into the complex aspects of coding, ensure you have a solid understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. These are the building blocks of medical coding.
Regular Review: Medical coding involves a lot of memorization. Review your notes regularly to reinforce your understanding and retention of the codes, guidelines, and procedures.
Use Flashcards: Flashcards are an excellent tool for memorizing codes and terminology. You can create your own or use online platforms that offer flashcards specifically for medical coding.
Practice Coding from Real Documents: Whenever possible, practice coding using real medical documents (while respecting privacy laws). This will help you understand how to apply coding rules and guidelines in real-world scenarios.
Join Study Groups: Studying with peers can enhance your learning experience. You can share knowledge, discuss complex topics, and learn from each other’s insights and mistakes.
Take Advantage of Online Resources: Utilize online resources such as coding tutorials, forums, and webinars. Websites like the AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders) and AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) offer a wealth of resources.
Simulate Exam Conditions: When preparing for coding exams, simulate exam conditions to improve your time management skills and adapt to the pressure of the actual exam. Practice with timed quizzes and coding exercises.
Ask Questions: If you’re struggling with a particular topic, don’t hesitate to ask for help. Your instructors and classmates can be valuable resources.
Stay Updated: The rules and guidelines in medical coding can change. Stay updated by reading the latest coding manuals, newsletters, and updates from authoritative sources.
Apply Coding Software: Familiarize yourself with coding software or electronic health record (EHR) systems if available. Practical knowledge of these tools is often required in the professional coding environment.
Set a Study Schedule: Establish a consistent study schedule. Consistent study times help create a routine and reduce last-minute cramming which is less effective.
Stay Organized: Keep your study materials organized. Use binders, folders, or digital tools to organize your notes, assignments, and resources. This will help you find information quickly and efficiently when you need it.
By applying these study strategies, you can more effectively manage the complexities of medical coding and enhance your chances of success in your course and future career in medical coding.

Renee
*my phone buzzed and I looked down at it, seeing the group email that the tutoring program had sent out, already knowing the information within it but clicking on it anyways, biting my lip as I scroll and spot our names, together, side-by-side, like they used to always be, Renee and Anthony this, Ant and Nay that* *I groan to myself, feeling myself getting a headache, digging the heels of my hands into my eyes as I plop down on my bed, hating to think that we were looking at the same email, that we got the same email at the same time, it all feeling too close for comfort* *I still had such childhood resentment towards Anthony, just the thought of him brought me back to being a teenage girl who felt rejected and abandoned by the one person she trusted with her entire heart, the one boy she thought would be by her side forever, a person she envisioned marrying and having babies with, pure fantasies of adolescence* *I was older now, but that hurt girl and her shattered dreams still lingered and the mere thought of Anthony brought her to the surface, anger filling me at the notion that he has always been so close and yet he’s never reached out, he knows where I am and yet he never came looking for me, granted neither did I but I was the one who felt slighted, I wasn’t the one who did anything wrong* *my teenage crush had faded with time, having met new people and found my passion in science and medicine, and finding like-minded people really helped, feeling that I flourished while being here at university, but it was like a freight train hitting me full force when I imagined his cute crooked grin that always used to make my stomach drop deliciously, knowing now he’d be so grown up and fucking drop dead handsome and it would probably destroy me all over again* *I grabbed my phone, pulling up Instagram and typing in ‘Anthony C’ before realizing what I was doing, this being so stupid, he was just my tutoree and nothing more, we wouldn’t become friends again and especially nothing more than that, I would help him not fail his class and I’d send him on his way to become pro and he’d live his life and I’d live mine, we’d be just like all the other pairs and that was that, nothing more nothing less* *I close out of the app just as quickly as I opened it before tossing my phone to the end of my bed, forcing myself to move on, grabbing my text book from my desk and throwing myself into my reading and studying, having a bio test at the end of the week, trying to focus as hard as I can on the medical terminology and my flashcards but my mind kept flashing back to Anthony and his adorably annoying smile that I’d be seeing in less than 24 hours*
______________________________________
*my apprehension from before had disappeared, you not being a stranger at all, quite the opposite, you knew all about my difficulties with learning and had coached me through it before, you never judged me and I felt so comfortable with you that I knew this was the best the arrangement could be, wondering how this had worked out so well for me* *i chuckle, things somehow coming out on top as I throw my phone onto the bed before beginning to get undressed again, perked up as I head to my ensuite to shower, stepping in and soaping myself up as my mind drifts to you, a smile on my lips as I try and work out when the last time I saw you was, frowning as I couldn’t remember and realising I’d let it go between us a bit, it had been way too long since we’d caught up and that made me sad for our younger selves, us spending every free second we could together, remembering all the sleepovers, camping in the garden, the shared dinners, everything seeming so much simpler back then, chuckling at our innocence as I step out the shower and dry off, deciding to just kick this off and scrolling through my phone to find your number, hoping you still had the same one as I begin to draft a message* ‘Yooo, Renee! Long time!! I’ve just seen the email pairing us up, wanna get together tomorrow for coffee to catch up? :)  *grins and sends, not thinking much of anything as as far as I was aware we’d just drifted apart, it all seeming very natural to me but grateful we’d have a chance to spend some time together again*

Helpful Tools and Application in My Daily Routine as a Student
With the help of technology, we students have access to learning opportunities that allow us to study whenever and wherever we want, as well as at a speed that is convenient for each individual. Teachers can instruct us either inside the conventional classroom, or "the brick-and-mortar," or from other locations anywhere in the world. We can use these kinds of tools at any time and use them as needed to access pre-recorded, shared, or live lessons. The availability of tools that enable greater interaction between the teacher and us—and the content—can help the students' understanding of the material to develop.
The best aspect about the alternatives is that there are so many that it is feasible to select something that satisfies the requirements of each class and each student. Learning is more differentiated and personalized when using digital tools.
By using these technologies to create and share lessons, we can give all students access to more materials. Alternately, take the chance to create something to engage students in a more meaningful and genuine way as they study the topic.
Let me share with you the helpful applications and tools that I use in my daily learning and activities as a student who is studying in the modern day with the aid of technology! (See each photo for caption)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Google Meet. I am aware that since online classes began, we have all used this technology. I conduct every lecture, discussion, and meeting through Google Meet. It is free and simple to use.
Tumblr media
Canva. What a life saver! It is a design tool that enables the creation of presentations, infographics, pubmats, and much more, all of which can be published anywhere. They also provide a student account, which is advantageous to any students who cannot afford to buy a pro account.
Tumblr media
GoodNotes. As an Ipad girly, GoodNotes is essential. I use this app to write digital notes whenever I am in a lecture. Aside from that, I can upload my documents or transes and highlight or write on them without any hassle.
Tumblr media
Notion. It provides administrative capabilities including bookmarking, task management, project monitoring, to-do lists, and more. I primarily use it for my to-do lists to keep track of the things I have to get done each day and each week. I sense relief as I cross things off my list.
Tumblr media
Anki. As a pre-med student who needs a lot of memorization of terminologies and identification of diseases, Anki makes remembering things easy. It is a free and open-source flashcard program using spaced repetition, a technique from cognitive science for memorization.
Tumblr media
Procreate. We are accustomed to using microscopes to examine specimens frequently as medical technology students. With the photographs we take throughout our practical operations, we produce numerous plates. I don't consider myself to be particularly artistic, thus I find drawing to be really difficult. I greatly benefit from the ease of providing digital artwork thanks to Procreate.

How to Prepare for NAATI CCL Test?
Tumblr media
If you aspire to become a certified professional interpreter or translator in Australia, passing the NAATI CCL (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters Community Credential) test is a crucial step towards achieving your goal. NAATI CCL test assesses your language proficiency and interpreting skills to work effectively as a community language interpreter in various settings. To help you succeed in this significant endeavor, Vision Language Experts has compiled a comprehensive guide on how to prepare for the NAATI CCL test. Whether you are based in Melbourne, Sydney, or anywhere else in Australia, this guide will provide valuable insights into NAATI test preparation.
Understand the NAATI CCL Test Structure
Before diving into your preparation, it's essential to familiarize yourself with the NAATI CCL test structure. The test consists of two dialogues that simulate real-life interpreting scenarios, typically lasting around 15 minutes each. You will interpret from the source language (language spoken by the client) to the target language (English) and vice versa. The test assesses your skills in consecutive interpreting, where you listen to a segment in one language and then interpret it into another.
Choose the Right NAATI CCL Preparation Course
To ensure a solid foundation for your NAATI CCL test preparation, enrolling in a reputable and well-structured NAATI CCL preparation course is highly recommended. Vision Language Experts offers comprehensive online courses designed to cater to the needs of aspiring interpreters in Melbourne, Sydney, and across Australia. These courses cover various aspects of the test, including interpreting techniques, vocabulary, cultural awareness, and ethics.
Practice Active Listening
Effective interpreting hinges on active listening skills. Practice listening to audio recordings in your target language and summarizing the content in your native language. Focus on comprehension, note-taking, and retaining essential information. This exercise will help sharpen your listening abilities, a critical aspect of the NAATI CCL test.
Enhance Your Vocabulary
A rich vocabulary is an interpreter's asset. Work on expanding your vocabulary in both your source and target languages. Learn commonly used terminologies related to everyday scenarios, medical settings, legal matters, and community interactions. Utilize language learning apps, flashcards, and online resources to build a robust lexicon.
Develop Note-taking Techniques
Note-taking is an integral part of consecutive interpreting. Practice taking concise and accurate notes while listening to recordings. Focus on capturing key points, numbers, names, and any relevant information that will aid you during the interpreting process. Regular practice will refine your note-taking skills and boost your overall performance in the NAATI CCL test.
Simulate Real-Life Interpreting Scenarios
To gain hands-on experience, engage in role-playing exercises with fellow language learners or friends. Act out various scenarios that you are likely to encounter in the NAATI CCL test, such as medical appointments, public service encounters, or community events. These simulations will enhance your confidence and prepare you for real-life interpreting challenges.
Improve Cultural Awareness
Interpreters need to be culturally sensitive and aware. Research and learn about the cultural norms, practices, and customs of both your source and target languages. Familiarize yourself with the multicultural aspects of Australia to better understand the diverse communities you may encounter during the NAATI CCL test.
Seek Feedback and Evaluation
Regularly seek feedback on your interpreting skills from experienced language professionals or tutors. Constructive criticism will help you identify areas for improvement and allow you to focus your efforts accordingly. Participate in mock tests and evaluations offered in your NAATI CCL preparation course to gauge your progress.
Conclusion
Preparing for the NAATI CCL test requires dedication, practice, and a strategic approach. As you embark on this journey, keep in mind that consistency and perseverance are key to success. Vision Language Experts offers comprehensive online NAATI courses designed to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the test. Remember to practice active listening, build your vocabulary, develop note-taking techniques, and cultivate cultural awareness. With the right preparation and guidance, you can confidently approach the NAATI CCL test and take a significant step towards a rewarding career as a certified community language interpreter in Australia.
