Writing Prompt #118

"I am... Tired."

The sentence made Henchman pause from unraveling the blueprints on their boss’s desk.

"Tired, Boss?" they ask, looking up at the seated criminal before them. "Would you like me to come back another time?"

"No. Pushing things off until later won't fix anything," Villain murmurs, resting their head on the back of their hand. “It’s not that kind of tired.” 

The henchman’s brows furrow slightly. “...I don’t think I understand.”

The villain lets out a small sigh. “..No, I suppose you wouldn’t.” 

There’s a moment of silence that fills the room. 

“...I believe I am experiencing burnout, Henchman. …Or maybe I’ve just forgotten what exactly it is I am fighting for. ..I don’t see the point in continuing this cat and mouse chase with Hero anymore.”

Ok so here's the thing. A lot of the time, reminders dont work for me. I need verbal prompting. What's the difference you may ask? Oftentimes, someone coming up to me and saying "go brush your teeth", (a standard reminder) I will think "yes, I should do that" but my body refuses to move. What I need instead is prompting from the start. Such as "get up and come to the bathroom with me" "grab your toothbrush" "put on toothpaste" (sometimes optional if I need a prompt for that) and Then I can brush my teeth. There are apps that sort of emulate this concept (but usually just in written/ drawn form, not spoken out loud) so they can sometimes help but a human prompting me is still the most helpful.

Also as a side note there are different levels and types of prompting all the way up to HOH (hand over hand) where you guide someone's hands to do the right movement as that is supposed to build motor memory.

i love it when bad is very specifically a good roleplayer by giving other people good prompts. like casually bringing up wilbur now to tallulah. or when he put missa in the petting zoo. or all those times he Tormented the Lesbians so they could protect each other from him. its just so !!!! I love watching roleplayers be considerate of other roleplayers and gleefully hand over something they Know the other person's character can react to. i've seen cellbit do it, too (that time he handed his knife to bbh. oh my god). it's not a rare thing, and it's possible to be a good roleplayer without keeping that sort of considerate back and forth in mind, but its one of my favourite things to notice. foolish does it too, sometimes- i haven't watched him much, but i did take note of when he Made Sure to bring jaiden along with him on a cucurucho quest. and basically every interaction he had with bad when the eggs were missing. its just so so good

#i think one of the worst things that can happen to a roleplay is for the players to stop interacting with each others' storylines #roleplay is an incredible medium particularly because of that Collaboration and Improv #and if youre just standing around pushing your own story then yeah sure its fun #but its MAGICAL when people engage with it #and its MAGICAL to look at a story #go 'what if i. did something funny here' #and throw in a little wrench that lights a delighted FIRE in the other player's eyes because now they get to go on a rant #or take drastic measures #or just do something a little fun that they couldn't/wouldn't have without that prompting #its like when bad went around telling people he was imposing building laws on behalf of the feds and people were like #actively a little disappointed that it was just a prank and they couldn't go HAM #anyway i miss roleplay. #qsmp why would you make all these people live so far apart from each other </3 spawn is so uninhabitable there is nothing for them #to make pretty or modify its not Theirs there's no reason for them to be there other than to shop #but i am on . a tangent. #and that is its own lighthearted post analyzing the psychology of built and modifiable vs provided and immovable spaces in the game #no its not late at night and i should not be doing other things (lying)

Mediums, DP prompt

ok ok, hear me out. There's this fic I read years ago- this one - and basically it has Harry Potter using his MoD powers in a new world as a medium. He brings people back and learns stuff and people give him money for the info, you know, what mediums do.

Now, consider this: Danny Fenton -yes, FENTON- becomes a medium. Could be like the fic where it's in a new world, thus a crossover, could not be. You do you, idk I've literally never written a prompt before.

But anyway, yea, imagine it! It would probably be something he stumbled into due to his rouges messing with him by following him around invisible (or just Youngblood, since he can only be seen by kids) and since it's Amity, people don't think crazy, they think oh man can that Fenton kid see ghosts all the time? Even ones we can't see? Maybe even...new ones?

Imagine:

Danny: Hello how may I help you today

Customer, flashing crazy eyes: I need you to tell me how my mother died

Danny:

Danny: Sir, this is the Nasty Burger

Customer: You're a Fenton, and I've heard the rumors, you can see ghosts normal people can't. Please, I need to know.

Danny, who definitely can't see these 'other' ghosts, his rouges have just been messing with him a little too much while invisible lately: Look-

Customer: NO! I will not take no for an answer!

*they are starting to draw too much attention*

Danny, nervous whispers: Look, I'll ask around ok? But you can't be saying this kinda stuff out in the open, you know the Anti-Ecto laws will go after collaborators. They don't care about collateral damage

Customer, looking around apologetically: You're right, I'm sorry I just- She died so suddenly and the police have nothing. Her name was Jasmine Bale please, please I just want to make sure she's ok.

And thus, Danny stumbles onto a much better paying job than the Nasty Burger. or something idk I haven't written anything in a while.

You know, we see a lot of Danny absolutely wrecking the Joker but what if he didn't? What if what happened with Freakshow still lingers? What if Danny post adoption is absolutely terrified of this clown and Joker seeing that this boy has a worse reaction to him compared to most people and eats it up?

I wanna see a Joker who makes it his life mission to traumatize the newest Wayne. A batfam who's terrified the Clown Prince of Crime will hurt yet another family member. A Danny who sees Joker and instantly thinks of what might happen if he loses control again. Of who he might hurt this time.

Haunted!Jazz DP X DC Ideas

So I know that a theme with some DP x DC fics is Jazz being/interning as a therapist/psychiatrist at Arkham, usually with Danny following her by being a guard and/or an overprotective brother. 

I, being the gremlin I am, sat down and thought of some possibly darker/angstier paths that could be separated into different fics or combined together.

Immortal Danny - After the Accident, Danny no longer ages, so he goes ghost and follows Jazz to Gotham, only popping up as human (ish) in her apartment

Eldritch Horror Danny - Maybe there’s a breakout at Arkham, Jazz is kidnapped, mugged, etc. and Mr. Nightmare Fuel comes crawling out of a wall, the floor, or just fading into existence and being a terror/literal nightmare to whatever poor sod tried/talked about hurting Jazz

Medium Jazz - Jazz can see dead people, and she’s the only one who can see Danny either at all times, or just at all depending on what path you want to take, maybe with the exception Duke, or Constantine

Other/Liminal Jazz - Sharper teeth, tapetum lucidum (the thing that makes animals eyes glow in the dark), a flash of glowing green eyes, enhanced strength, speed, healing, etc. Could be any combination of these or more (although I’m a sucker for sharper teeth)

Vivisected Danny - Dissected by their parents, killing him a second (complete) time, and it shows up on his ghost form as Phantom as an open wound, showing off his insides (which if we’re including Medium!Jazz + Duke can see Danny, maybe because of how strong he is/was, maybe because of a lifetime of ecto-contamination/radiation, etc., could have some interesting effects
