Mick did a great job at sitting still for his photos today!

He has been getting more comfortable, and his personality is starting to shine through. He is the sweetest boy.

Lately, he has been letting me rub his head for a while. This feels like a huge achievement because he used to run away in the past! Now he runs to me when I enter his bedroom. <3

He is 6 months old now, so it was time to make the appointment with the vet! Tomorrow he is being neutered. I know he will be a brave bun.

I know that this is a wise choice for his health, and it will help him be friends with Legoshi, but my heart still feels worried for him getting scared or hurt.

We trust that everything will go smoothly and he will make a speedy recovery!

i was wondering how common it was for vets to use spay hooks? i currently work w a vet n she hates them n prefers not to use them, but shes the only one i know who doesnt use a hook in my area.

she has never life threatening complications w spays, so its not more dangerous to my knowledge? she uses thumb forceps and her fingers to find the uterus

I have never heard of a vet that doesn't use one. I use one, for sure. I think I'd have to create a much larger incision if I was going to look for the uterus without a spay hook. And spay/neuter vets make incisions so small that you couldn't fit a finger through them if you wanted to. It doesn't mean it's wrong for someone *not* to, it would just be considered highly unusual.

This damn dog

lives in my neighbourhood, and is owned, but only in theory. I was feeding her for few years, hoping that she will trust me enough to catch and spay her; she was popping puppies like a well-oiled machine every time she went in heat. We have a huge problem with street dogs and unwanted and unfed dogs.

EVERY SINGLE ATTEMPT, by me, by the spay/neuter clinic, with baited trap, without the trap, with drug in the food, etc., etc., FAILED until now! She finally got trapped, spayed, and is recovering in the clinic. That’s the end of the motherhood for you, Brindle! I couldn’t be happier for her.

It's that time of year again to remind everyone that it is fucking animal abuse to not spay/neuter your pets.

"But my fur baby is indoor only."

I don't care. Animals that are not fixed get horny and their first instinct is to run outside. And if they get outside they will get pregnant/impregnate.

"But my little lady is not even a year old."

I don't care. Cats can get pregnant as early as 6-8 weeks old, and many dogs as early as 4 months.

"But surgery is expensive."

Don't get a pet if you can't take care of it. Animal neglect is a type of animal abuse and you should be charged as such.

"But they don't get fixed in nature."

Yeah but it's also natural for litters to be born too early, too late, have major complications due to kittens and puppies being able reproduce BEFORE sexual maturity, and for the parents to dump them on strangers doorsteps bc their instincts to take care of a baby haven't fully developed.

FIX YOUR GODDAMN PETS ASAP and I encourage you to peer pressure anyone who doesn't into doing it or report them to the fucking authorities.

-Sincerely, the person who found a 4 month old kitten under their car with 3 kittens of her own with the umbilical cord still attached to one stillbirth(the only one that was fully developed). They almost lasted the night with human intervention but it wasnt enough.

Fix your fucking pets! And keep your cats indoors!

Newton poses a problem for Dawkins.

Newton is possibly the greatest scientist of all time, and was a strong believer in God. So how does Dawkins deal with Newton? He tries to neutralize Isaac Newton by claiming he was a fake, motivated by money. This is how he does it – the passage is in Dawkins' book The God Delusion. Dawkins starts with a quote from Bertrand Russell who said: "Intellectually eminent men disbelieve the Christian religion, but hide the fact, because they are afraid of losing their income." The next sentence is: "Newton was religious." The insinuation is that Newton was faking belief in God to get money. This is totally false.

If Newton was faking it, he really overdid it. He wrote to his friend Richard Bentley: "When I wrote my treatise [Principia Mathematica], I had an eye upon such principles as might work for the belief of a deity, and nothing can rejoice me more, than to find it useful for that purpose." He read the Bible every day; attacked and ridiculed atheists and wrote letters encouraging opponents of atheism. Newton wrote:

Gravity explains the motions of the planets, but cannot explain who set the planets in motion. God governs all things, and knows all that is or can be done. This most beautiful system of the sun, planets, and comets, could only proceed from the counsel and dominion of an intelligent Being.

And this: "It is the perfection of God's works, that they are all done with the greatest simplicity. He is the God of order and not of confusion." Galileo said: "The Bible shows the way to go to heaven, not the way the heavens go." Galileo, Newton and Einstein all believed in God, therefore Dawkins' claim that science and religion are in conflict is nonsense.

i volunteer for one, and our entire purpose is trying to reduce/support feral cat populations through spaying and neutering, so we know where you can take your cat for low/no-cost spaying/neutering.

often times, vets or organizations will have a designated day every month or two where they just do all day spaying, so you’ll have to wait for that day to roll up. make an appointment for that day and KEEP YOUR CAT INSIDE.

there ARE feral cats in your area, and they WILL fuck your cat. do not underestimate the wiliness of a cat that is DTF.

Update on little Mick! (Brown)

It has been 6 days since he was neutered.

He came home looking quite afraid and shy. We kept him in a dark and quiet area for a while, with his blankie.

Gave him some of his favorite bunny nuggies, but he wasn't interested until the next day.

After a few hours of quiet time he did start to perk up again.

Day 2 he was jumping around and I was worried he would hurt himself.

The stitches are disolvable, so there's no need to take him back!

Today, day 6, and he is super perky, eager to move around, and very happy!

Very proud of him for being such a brave boy.

Legoshi, (grey) on the other hand, has been enjoying the whole bedroom all for himself while Mick was recovering. Lego is shedding, so he really made the room his own with the piles of fluff that I've been brushing off of him.

Both boys are doing good!

We are still keeping the buns separate, but we will work on bonding in the near future!
