The tolerance towards trans and queer people that Shika remembers from her childhood was not an anomalous blip in Malaysia's history. In fact, it was for many centuries the de-facto attitude not just for Malaysia, but also for most of Southeast Asia, even in Islamic countries such as Indonesia and Brunei.
The tragedy is that Southeast Asia's rich LGBT history is unknown to most people. Modern headlines are mostly negative-particularly in Brunei, where a recently passed law prescribed death-by-stoning for all who commit gay sex or adultery. Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah later announced the law would likely never be enforced, but the fact that it even passed was still a shock for most Westerners. As the former New Zealand PM, Helen Clark, tweeted: “Hard to comprehend what could be driving such a barbaric move which stands in stark opposition to fundamental human rights principles.”
Yet this isn't a simple case of the West looking down its nose at the East. It’s important to keep in mind that European powers once mocked Southeast Asia's tolerance for gender and sexual diversity, perceiving their attitudes as evidence the region needed “redemptive civilization.”

Clark Kent/Superman (DC)
He's kind, strong, and sweet. The quintessential superhero and boyfriend. Beyond his powerful looks, he's just got so much to market him, whether it's his easygoing attitude and respect for people of all backgrounds, histories, and genders, or his godlike looks, or his commitment to justice, or even his abilities making him the perfect boyfriend to live with because he can do everything at the snap of a finger and more than that, actually likes to, he's just got tons going for him. The only thing keeping him from the "spending life with" category is probably the hero work putting him/me in danger, and all the difficulties that come with that.
Ryan Lucan (Life is Strange: True Colors)
He's just... awesome. He's a wonderful, understanding, empathetic, and caring person, and while he's got a little too much outdoorsiness for my taste, I can just imagine companionably living together as an indoor bf/outdoor bf couple. He's subtly implied to be part of the LGBT+ community, whether by being some kind of asexual or perhaps being bi, or both! But seeing how accepting and understanding he is, I'm sure I'd love to date him and work that out for ourselves. I guess the only thing keeping him from being spend life with material is that I don't know how compatible we'd be as individuals. Ryan's outdoorsy, has a big emphasis on family and community, and seems like he'd probably be a little bit vanilla when it comes to sensual exploration. Which is fine, but I don't know if that's what I want. Lemme date him for a while first and have talks and then I can get back to you on if he's true love material.
Alistair Theirin (Dragon Age: Origins)
A romantic, a prince of a guy. Funny, awkward and relatable, and just as willing to experiment as you want him to be. It's been weird, growing older than he is in Dragon Age Origins, but he's one of the few that'd be at a similar starting point. And though he can be a little prudish and judgmental, I think his mind is open enough to be a wonderful partner. I think the only thing keeping him from the spend life with column is that... I love him, but he's a work in progress. He's got his own opinions on certain topics, but in general he needs molding into who he's meant to be. And maybe that just comes from his youth in Origins, so give me Alistair three or five years into his twenties, and let's see who he is and if he's truly true love material.

Benny Lafitte (Supernatural)
Benny's a great guy. Strong, moral, lovable, and possessed of a highly sexy accent. But he's just not looking for a relationship. I'd say it'd be more than a one night stand, probably a fling that could even work with ace people because Benny's the kind who prefers a connection anyhow. But it'd never be anything more, but maybe in a few hundred years?
Oliver Queen/Green Arrow (DC)
Hit it and quit it. He's fun for a night but intolerable come morning. He'll probably be annoyingly clingy afterward and keep sending texts or booty calls. And he's hot and rich, so I guess I'd keep him on the line until someone better comes along. He's great for a one nighter cause he doesn't have as much trauma, sexual hangups, or kids as a certain other equivalent vigilante-moonlighting billionaire.
Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Marvel)
Okay. I'm sorry. Peter's great. I adore him. And he's canonically kinky with his webs when he's married to MJ (or talking to Deadpool). But here's the thing - everyone Peter establishes a long-term emotional relationship with dies. Whether it's by tragic accident, direct involvement from Peter and his villains, or simple overexposure to Peter's radioactive body fluids, anyone that goes past the "sexual tension from having done it once or twice in the past" stage DIES. He's sweet, but I ain't dying for him. One night is probably all you can get before you're in the danger zone.
One Guy to Rule Them All:
Geralt of Rivia (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt)
This may be surprising, but I'm specifically limiting this to Geralt in the Witcher video games. Henry Cavill is hot as Geralt, but show Geralt is hard to enjoy as he's got so little of the nuance of the character that I like in the games. And from what I can tell of the books, Book!Geralt is very much a broody whiny obviously-written-by-an-old-Polish-guy-with-opinions kind of character.
Geralt in the games is an awesome, nuanced character. He's got a biting, sarcastic wit that never goes fully into the annoying kind of MCU snark. He's strong and powerful, but not macho - he's got the vibes of being a very confident and happy submissive man, especially towards the powerful women in his life. He's kinky, he's educated, he has nuanced opinions on the world around him and an intriguing worldview that also consistently takes into account the greatest good, whether that be right by the laws of the time or not. He's a friend to artists and mages, to the little guy, and he will stop to help whoever needs him. He's a great father. He's a loyal partner, and a moral one. I love him.

roman clarke has one job in this life, and absolutely no idea how he is meant to complete it. all he has ever wanted to do is make his father happy - wilder clarke, renowned king, and his second son just a bishop - his destiny, it seems, is to disappoint. what he hopes for now is that the dragon in his possession will change that. a powerful magical creature well documented in its difficulty to catch - now the hard part: crossing the country with it in tow, delivering it to a man who is always on the move.
the two meet when hana saves the life of roman’s guard - a debt repaid with food and shared travel. hana though doesn't much appreciate the idea of a dragon in a cage - how different can a world be from her own, and where spawns the idea of the validity in this captivity? a difference in opinions is inevitable, but peace must be kept: roman is heading for his father, the king, and hana's private desperation to meet the man is enough to smooth out any potential altercations. but how long can this fact remain true - and how long can hana resist the urge to shatter chains and bonds alike?

I've found myself going down the rabbit hole that is "bury your gays" because I love torture apparently.
Found myself reading about The 100 and the Lexa controversy. I never watched the show and so I completely missed the whole drama surrounding it. I knew about it vaguely but that was it. And... wow.... that whole thing was somehow more cruel than other examples of that trope.
The relationship between Clarke and Lexa was used under the guise of giving lesbian/bisexual representation to draw in viewers. The creators needed their show renewed and the LGBT+ fanbase is strong and loud. So they baited them in with a character that they fell in love with. A character they still love considering how popular Lexa still is as a character years later.
But the "bury your gays" trope was (and is) a real fear. The fans were literally begging "hey please don't kill this character off". Or asking them about the "bury your gays" trope. This went on for weeks or even months prior to that episode. And the creators were like "don't worry guys, we totally won't do that". One writer even went as far as going into a lesbian forum to reassure everyone that nothing was gonna happen to Lexa. They knew about the trope but they didn't care. All they cared about was getting the views and stroking their egos.
Fans were practically begging them not to do it and they still did. Worse, they thought they did something good or groundbreaking.
Instead of... you know... really hurting people. The fact that the first thing some people did was tweet out the number to suicide hotlines after the episode was a heartbreaking thing to read about. And these assholes just didn't care.
Well...I bet the creator cared when he lost 15k followers on Twitter and the backlash came. So much so that the "Lexa pledge" became a thing. He got the attention he clearly craved, just not the kind he wanted.
It was a wild ride to read this. It was frankly pissing me off.
The, out of curiosity, I watched the scene. And now, I'm even more annoyed. THAT'S LITERALLY WHAT HAPPENED TO TARA IN BUFFY.
Step by step. Practically scene for scene. Just listen to this:
Lesbian character is on the outs with the girl she loves, but they are slowly rebuilding. Things happen, and they eventually find themselves coming together again. They have sex, spend some time cuddling (or going for round 2) before finally getting dressed.
While they are dressed and just enjoying the afterglow as it were, some jackass comes running in with a gun. He fires madly but misses his intended target. Instead he hits the lesbian character by accident. She then dies in the arms of the girl she loves.
Did I describe what happened to Lexa or Tara?
Both actually.
Not only did these assholes cruelly use Clexa to draw in fans while reassuring them that nothing bad will happen, but they were fucking lazy about it too! They just rewrote the whole thing with Willow and Tara.
That somehow makes this controversy worse. Not only did they hurt people with what happened, they couldn't even be bothered to write something original.

How many legacy characters can DC have simultaneously? We're pushing double digits on human Lanterns. The classics aren't going anywhere soon & the spotlight is only so big.
The Lanterns are the poster children for how "anyone can wear the mask" can get totally out of hand. There's too fucking many of them and sales aren't strong enough to support them all. Can't get rid of them however because that would be "bigoted", meaning the franchise is stuck with more characters than there are titles. Were I in charge I would simply say to hell with Twitter, Tumblr, and social media backlash and start trimming the families down to size.
Let's go through the major "families" and I'll list which ones I would keep. How about we say that I can only keep three members including the "main" character (for the franchises that have one anyway), to keep things interesting. Non-powered characters and love interests don't count for the purposes of this exercise since they work different in terms of narrative use.
Superman - Hurts to pick favorites but I would save Kara, John Henry Irons, and Kenan. Kara gives you a Kryptonian perspective on Earth that Kal lacks, she was the first Superman legacy, and she's easily the second most popular Super after Kal. Irons shows that Lex is full of shit, Superman being around in no way prevents ordinary humans from reaching their potential, and Irons as a "science hero" means he brings something different to the table than the rest. Kenan is the best legacy Superman and it's not even close. He's got a different personality than Clark, he has a different upbringing and background, even his powers are ultimately connected to a different source than Clark's. If they were to ever actually kill Clark off and pick someone to take over, Kenan would be my choice.
Batman - Dick, Jason, and Damian. Those three provide strong storytelling reasons that justify keeping them around. You need Dick to show that Batman has had a positive impact on the people he's come across, Dick serves as an example of Batman's success. Jason meanwhile is the exact opposite, he's the one who points out Batman's failures as a crimefighter and a mentor. Damian is the one who can go either way and adds tension, he loves and respects Bruce which pulls him towards being like Dick, but he also disagrees with parts of Batman's methodology such as the no-killing rule, which tugs him over to being like Jason. Damian is therefore the one who will ultimately decide whether Batman is a success or a failure by which side he ends up on.
Wonder Woman - Artemis, Nubia, and Yara. Artemis is the most fleshed out Wonder other than Diana herself and has the mythology in place to support her as a unique entity, Nubia being black and LGBT+ gives her an edge over Donna and Cassie who are both white and straight like Diana, and Yara is the one I still think could be great if a good writer gets a hold of her.
Green Lantern - Hal, John, and Jess. Hal has the majority of the mythos and is the most popular, John has the DCAU crowd, and Jess has a unique narrative about "overcoming fear" with her struggles with anxiety.
Flash - Jay, Barry, and Wally. Rest are superfluous, this is the cleanest line of succession in comics. Jay has the Golden Age WWII era heroics, Barry gets the Silver Age super science and Multiverse, and Wally has the rich personal drama and Speed Force shenanigans.
Aquaman - Mera, Jackson, and Andy. Mera rules, Jackson I love because of YJ, and Andy is cute, plus Arthur shouldn't have to lose another kid.

Summer was born to a black dominican man and a white dominican woman who both lived in Metropolis.They were abusive to them in the classic 'cishet neurotypical parents with a neurodivergent and lgbt child' way and the kids at school bullied them for their neurodivergence,tomboyish tendencies and being a biracial black latino
Summer ended up looking up to Superman due to him being all about kindness and protection of the innocent and spent years dreaming he'd save them from their misery
When Summer was 10,Lex accidentally killed their parents while out on rampage in one of his robot's across Metropolis and he tried to hide from him but he kidnapped them to inject them with the dna of the only Kryptofang that had managed to escape from Krypton before it's explosion and made it's way to earth,where he'd captured and killed it due to recognizing it as Kryptonian.Kryptofangs were essentially the Kryptonian equivalents to dragons,along with having the power of telepathy
He spent three days being experimented on at a Lexcorp lab until Clark rescued him and took him in.Summer was so shaken by his parents murder-he hated them but like any abused kid,he also wanted them to love him-that he tried to hate them,cursing his admiration of Clark and silently blaming him for him now being a human-Kryptofang hybrid,as he'd heard Lex and his employees saying that the reason they'd done that to him was to finally defeat Clark.Summer didn't show affection to anyone but a baby Jon and got into extra trouble at school at first but eventually,he accepted that only Lex was to blame for what had happened and embraced his new family with open arms(Literally.He told Clark and Lois that he loves them while offering them a group hug)
They were a lot more supportive of his neurodivergence and gender expression than his birth parents,even if they didn't fully understand the former at first(but they understand the latter perfectly-t4t Clois so true)and took him to anger management lessons for the temper his trauma had given him.Clark started training Summer with help from the info on Kryptofangs at the Fortress of Solitude,which gave them powers of:Super strength,flight(thanks being able to grow pink dragon wings,the color of which they hated at first)and pyrokinesis,fire breath included!Both of them were confused as to why he didn't have telepathy but didn't give it much thought.After a year of this,Summer officially became Clark's sidekick under the name 'Sparks',as a reference to both their fire powers and of Clark and Lois being sparks of hope in their life.Their costume is a punk style that's similar to Kon's!
Him and Jason met thanks to their dad's taking them with them on Justice League missions sometimes and while their personalities clashed initially because of Summer still being very closed off to anyone who wasn't their family(including their honorary uncle Jimmy)and Jason's happy go lucky attitude,they opened up about their lives before their adoptions to eachother and worked in battle together and became best friends.Summer would sometimes fly to Gotham to take Jason to Metropolis with them so they could hang out there and Jason called them 'The Magic Duo' because of him being Robin and them being part Kryptofang
Don't have the details for this part yet but Clark convinced Dick to be Summer's mentor and Summer gained a crush on him and Kory,which is how he realized he's bi
When they were both 15,Jason planned to ask Summer out to a school dance because he'd realize he's in love with them but then A Death In The Family happened and Summer shut down for an entire month when they found out about his death
Summer did their best to be happy again,especially for Jon,who was only 5 at the time and needed his big sister.On June 21st,Summer flew to Gotham to visit Jason's grave,only to get into a battle with Mr Freeze that ended with him accidentally killing him via hypothermia.Clark,filled with grief,resurrected them with the Kryptonian Regeneration Matrix and Summer made him promise to not tell Jon he died,scared of what the event would do to him
Also,Summer lost a few fingers to the hypothermia so he has prosthetics now and his ghost ended up in the headspace of the soul of his Kryptofang when he died,where he befriended them,gave them the name 'Fantasma' and when they came back to life,they'd unlocked their telepathy and had grown pink and yellow dragon scales around their nose and cheeks(Jon asked them why they had freckles now when he came back home)
Fantasma dosen't have a tangible form in the physical world so they speak to Summer in their head.Summer was initially not sure how to handle it and made some people at school think they'd gone crazy when they accidentally responded to them outloud.With their vitriolic but well meaning interactions with Kon,the friendship he formed with Stephanie when she became a hero and Fantasma's support combined,Summer started being happy again
Which was only added onto by Kon's need to be seen as a boy as much as cis ones(due to being afab thanks to Clark's dna)and Stephanie's pride in being a feminine but still nonbinary trans girl making them stop their denial of their genderfluidity.They tried to present in a masc/gender neutral way at first to be seen as a valid trans guy but his loved ones helped them realize he could be both femme and transmasc
And that's how he changed his hero name to 'Ember',designed himself a costume that suited his taste(read:pink and femme but in a boy way)with Dick and Kory's help and how he got his Kryptonian name since Clark organized a Shermany,a Kryptonian name change ritual that requires signing a document in Kryptonian language and swearing an oath to one's House which leads to celebration party,to show him that he sees him as a family member as much as he does his biological ones.Summer let Clark pick both his new middle and his House of El name:Valentino and Va-El
Ember was more of a camp fire that you'd roast marshmallows over with your friends than flames that had come from throwing a match on gasoline like Sparks.Summer had grown to be a lot gentler and more optimistic and bubbly and overall happier than before,along with taking up playing video games and baking as hobbies after spending time doing them with Jon and Martha.They'd also gotten a sideshave and died their remaining bangs light pink
Life was good for Summer 'Val-El' Kent-they'd saved the world a bunch of times and were hailed as a hero worthy of being Superman's child,they had family and friends who loved them,they'd survived high school and were now working as a daytime server at Food Joint,a 1950s themed restaurant in Metropolis.That was until Bruce called them to help with a new vigilante named 'Red Hood' that was causing trouble in Gotham(without telling him that the reason he'd called for Ember specifically was due to his suspiciouns that Red Hood was Jason,even if he himself was in denial that his son had turned into a killer).It took convincing from Kara because they resented him for not killing the Joker to avenge Jason but they relented and it ended with them reconnecting with Dick and finding out Red Hood's true identity when he revealed himself to them in a fight where they nearly killed him before he'd taken off his helmet
Summer was frozen in shock long enough for Jason to explain how he'd come back and that he planned to control crime in Gotham.He tried to hug him to show how much he'd missed them but they flew away in hurt at the fact that his best friend was now a villain.But he couldn't avoid him forever,even in his thoughts as he tried to have normal days again.Fantasma had managed to form a mind link with Jason and Summer and him talked things out,agreeing to be friends again and their mental conversations continued for months
Other things i don't have the details for yet:Summer and Cass forming a sisterly bond(biracial woc solidarity),Summer gaining violent and sardonic tendencies from Jason's influence and that making the Metropolis media frame them as 'being evil all along' which lead to them joining the Outlaws out of hurt and anger(side note:Clark,Lois and Jimmy tried to spread good words about them),them getting a new costume which includes a heart shaped boob window after their original got too scratched up in a fight(as an Outlaw),them helping Cassie be butch again and them,Jason and Stephanie mentoring Damian and his Teen Titans team(@fatheriimaginedyoutaller 's version of them that is)

I am being extremely self-indulgent again and just writing blurbs and information of fanfics I have written/started but haven’t posted for various reasons. They’re all Superman and Lois. All are not posted on Archiveofourown yet.
Once Upon a Time It was Canon-Compliant (Season one finished but pre-season two airing)
Title: In the Eyes
Genre: Mystery and hurt/comfort (there will be comfort...eventually).
Character: Jordan (POV), Jon (POV), Clark and Lois.
About: Jordan is struggling with the aftermath of being taken. He notices something odd about when Zeta-Rho tried to get to Jon. Jon is trying to act like it ever happened while stockpiling weapons.
Time Set: Post season one, AU from season one finale (Season two never happened).
Status: Fifty percent completed
Reason/s why: I wanted to try my hand at a mystery. I mostly regret it but not enough to stop writing.

Genre: Mystery/family drama
About/Summary (WIP): Lois notices a strange pattern in the blackouts that have been occurring throughout the world. She doesn’t know what it is but, just like with Edge, she knows there’s something deeper occurring. With Lois focusing on the power outages and Clark focusing on Jordan’s increasing powers, will they notice Jon’s struggling has more to it than moving? Part three of my Assembly Series.
Status: Incomplete
Reason/s Why: I just wanted to write it. I do plan on posting this on AO3 once it’s completed so that’s all the reasons why you will get for now.

Reason/s Why: I like to think that legally, the twins names (except for middle names) are Jordan Lane-Kent and Jonathan Lane-Kent. And that Lois is fine with people assuming it’s just Jordan and Jonathan Kent since it’s the only family name Clark can pass on without putting them in danger. But in all their documents it’s “Jordan Lane-Kent” and Jonathan Lane-Kent”.

Reason/s Why: Jon needs therapy, Clois need to be better parents to Jon and I decided to give myself a canon-compliant reason why Jordan was put on (what looks like) benzos AS A CHILD while the show decided to drop his damn anxiety.
And I will die on my “Jon-is-autistic-actually” hill and remain there in my afterlife. No one is getting me off this hill. No one.

About: Clark didn’t see the warnings of the Bizarro universe for what they were. Lois didn’t see the red flags of Smallville for what they were. This time, two future visitors may force Lois and Clark to understand.

Reason/s Why: I’ve seen way too many people say that writing a bisexual person in an opposite-gender relationship is writing a straight romance. Bisexual people are still bisexual whether they’re in a relationship or single. Also yes, I am absolutely recycling one of my Heartstopper bisexual OCs.
...And I still have baggage about the fact that the only LGBT places I’ve been able to trust are those ran by bisexual people and transgender people. Also other related-baggage. This is a therapy fic for me tbh.

Title (WIP): You’re the Light of My Life

Okay, I am going to stop now. These are just ones I have to stop myself from talking about or posting since I’m going to try and finish writing before posting now. We’ll see how long it will last.

Post-Conference Roundup
Last week, approximately 35 speakers (and dozens more guests) came to Lewis & Clark Law School for the 2nd Annual Law vs. Antisemitism conference. It was an event I'd been planning for over a year, and I'm pleased to report it was a rousing success. The panels were scintillating, the conversations crackling, and the two keynotes (by the ADL's Steve Freeman and civil rights activist Eric Ward) blew the doors off the joint. I could not be prouder.
Unfortunately, as the conference approached I could feel myself getting a cold, and so I did that deal-with-the-devil bit where I just willed myself to not be sick for the conference, and my body was like "okay, but you're going to pay for that come Tuesday." So the day after the conference I was sick as a dog. But now I'm mostly better -- just some residual congestation.

Iowa school hit with bomb threats over LGBT book after "LibsOfTikTok" sics her goons on them.
In other "is killing students in school controversial?" news, Nashville students walk out of class to protest for gun reform following the Covenant School shooting.
Also in Tennessee: a federal judge has enjoined the state's new draconian "anti-drag" law as likely violating the First Amendment.
As a now-certified Caitlin Clark fan, it's beyond evident that folks calling Angel Reese "classless" for doing the same mugging that Clark had done all season are, well, they're not hiding the ball. And for what it's worth, there's zero evidence that Clark in any way needs or supports y'all white knighting on her behalf -- I guarantee she can take what she dishes out. (Surely, we can all agree that the only thug on the court yesterday was Kim Mulkey).
Israel looks set to give its resident fascist his own personal state-backed paramilitary squad. What could go wrong? Nothing, because "wrong" implies that the the utterly predictable consequences aren't intended.
A beautiful story of a transwoman recounting "coming out" to her 100 year old grandpa. His memory clearly already is a blessing.

Been a while since I had inspiration to write some new stuff so here we go! I'm looking for DC rps, because I have some urges lmao. 18+, he/him, Hi I'm Zack! I can write just about anyone in the DC Universe right now, but I'm having some pretty specific obsessions due to catching up on some comics/the new pride art and lgbt characters that were announced so here goes!
I am looking for someone ACTIVE, at least once a week get a reply out, please! I'm active and can reply multiple times a day but I understand that's not how everybody operates! I like to talk and become friends with my writing partners, I'm totally down if you're not in the mood to write but need to vent about personal stuff or just gush over characters! I just like replies once a week at least to keep things going. Now, what I'm looking for:
Birdflash - Dick Grayson/Wally West. Now I can write either, but honestly I'd have more muse for Dick in this ship specifically.
SuperBat - Clark Kent/Bruce Wayne. I write Bruce for this, specifically.
Tim Drake/Bart Allen - I can definitely write both of these, so it can be worked out between us!
BatCat - Bruce Wayne/Selina Kyle. I can write either but might have a slight preference of Selina for this!
JayRoy - I only have experience writing Jason so that's what I'd prefer.
As for individual characters, I currently have a LOT of inspiration for: Garfield Logan, Bart Allen, Tim Drake, Jason Todd, Jon Kent, Dick Grayson, Bruce Wayne. I love to have a lot of batfam interactions, too, just general shenanigans and this list is definitely not exclusive, I can always have new inspirations than what's on here by the time this is posted or you see this post! Ya’ll (OP is from Pennsylvania) (this post is really about their friend Clark who was slightly irritable in the discord call 3 hours ago) really need to start talking about how [thing Clark did in the discord call] is harmful to the [broad group of people that collectively don’t give that much of a shit] community and how it is abusive to minors (OP is 17, Clark’s 18th birthday was a month ago) and as a queer elder (OP’s only participation in the wider LGBT community is voltron shipping beef and risqué furry rp, and is 17) I think we should keep in mind that mental illness is no excuse for this kind of behavior (When trying to apologize for his attitude Clark said he had just been feeling really stressed out lately) anyway you should all block and report [Clark’s tumblr blog that uses the default mobile theme that he occasionally uses to reblog memes and cool pictures of anime characters] as he is a known abuser and pushed me to the brink of having an anxiety attack (he snapped at OP when asking if they could talk about something other than voltron shipping) I am a mixed Hispanic Native American minor (OP has a last name that’s vaguely Spanish and is 12% Native American according to their mom who does Bible studies and smokes weed)

So DC is adding some manga to their roster.
So DC is now going to infect manga with their modern politics.
In My Adventures with Superman, before I started watching it, I came upon a short by a prominent anti-woke Youtuber and had a conversation with an anon in the comment section where I expressed my confusion as to why many are lamenting the sailor moon transformation of Clark, as if that one scene is all they need to know about the show. They said Soyperman, which really offended me.
I fucking hate the word soy attached to everything they don’t find cool. It really infuriates me now that I have watched the show itself. They are extremely mistaken, the critics of the show I have posted on my blog earlier have more substance than their fucking insults. They did mention his son, Jon Kent and I have my gripes with LGBT representation but that’s another story.
So in those comments, someone said that DC going into anime is their way of infecting it with their wokeness. I doubt they have seen Radiant by Tony Valente but that is a manfra that has black and muslim representation. I sincerely think that if that particular manfra gets adapted to a live-action film and is touted as a good manga adaptation many would contest it. I would understand why.
The manfra was made by a French dude who is western and made western ideas. Easily adaptable to the big screen.
I digress, I am going off track so hard but to quickly summarize. YouTube short has a comment thread where someone said that DC going into anime and manga is their way to infect it with their ideas of progressivism.
I would always point Radiant as a blueprint for how to handle progressive ideas without falling to the problem of being bad at it. Lack of nuance. Although I do admit, their was an arc in the manfra that made the stomach churning go up and up. I will explain that in a later post. I’ll need to re-read that.
So yeah, I just want to say that many would now probably make vids about how DC is going to kill the anime industry by infecting it with wokeness (and not defining what is the woke thing in general because fuck defining things, right?) and if the Suicide Squad isekai becomes successful I cannot fathom the whining and the complaining that these fucks would do! Jesus.
