This is the majestic Betelgeuse star, a star which is part of the Orion constellation. The blue star positioned in the top left of the image is Mu Orionis, a star that is also part of the Orion constellation. Creating this image followed a similar process to all my previous. The biggest problem I had with it was emphasizing the glow around the center star. To do so, I followed my typical steps to emphasize the star in the middle – adjusting brightness and contrast in a way to specifically highlight to glow – then cut it out from the background. This is because the contrast necessary to achieve the effect I wanted did not give the desired look to the background – being mainly silver and noisy. Then, using a soft light blending tool, I layered the glow over another layer of the star and blurred the edges to seamlessly incorporate it into the image. Finally, it was important to me to only emphasize the brightest stars in this image to avoid taking away from the centerpiece. Mu Orionis is colored differently than the rest to signify its significance.
Incredibly self-indulgent space themed mewtwo oc based on the Orion constellation!!
I have other things I should be working on but look at dis Baby!🥺
I don't usually show my future ocs (mainly because I haven't started the comic yet lol) He is canon but doesn't show up till at least 15 years after the start of the story. (and im mad at myself because I want to talk about them but don't to ruin any surprises)
"The black indentation to the red emission nebula seen just to the right of the center of the above photograph is one of the most famous features in any nebulae in the sky. Because of its shape, it is known as the Horsehead Nebula. The bright star near the center is located in the belt of the familiar constellation of Orion. The horse head feature is dark because it is really a dense dust cloud which lies in front of the bright nebula and blocks the light. Like clouds in our sky, this cosmic cloud has chanced to assume a recognizable shape. After thousands of years, the internal motions of the cloud will alter its appearance. The emission nebula's red color is caused by electrons recombining with protons to form hydrogen atoms. Also visible in the picture are blue reflection nebulae. This type of nebula contains dust which preferentially reflects the blue light of nearby stars."
And in any case, in my opinion, Bellatrix was born in a period of time between December and March, because it is the optimal period for observing the constellation of Orion (a constellation in which the star that gives her name is present).
an -asteric gender related to the constellation Orion, more specifically orion's belt, as it is what makes the constellation that points towards the rising sun most recognisable.
